The app is broken!
by At197113 on 2019/12/13 02:12
The app has been in a steady decline for the past year, but now you really broke it. So said to see it repeating the path of the airline: down, down we go.. So said and so undeserved for an airline with such legendary past and name.
Why can’t I click on anything?

Garbage App
by Theresal11 on 2019/12/12 10:28
This app is absolutely horrible, and it’s apparent the public agrees. The fact that this app has only 9k reviews and it’s competitors have MILLIONS, really says something. Interface is gross, and it’s functionality is just not great. But at the end of the day, it doesn’t surprise me. American is SO FAR behind in its other tech areas as well, including their kiosks. Bad enough that I would take a spirit flight over American next time....
App Support is a joke!
by EXP Rob on 2019/12/12 09:33
If one selects App Support it brings up a page on AA.com that was written maybe 5 years ago. I mean, does anyone still use a Blackberry or a Windows 7 mobile device? Come on AA developers. I previously wrote how horribly this app now works on iPad, but this is even worse!
aa.com
by WiseOldDuck on 2019/12/12 08:35
It would be difficult to list all the silly inconsiderations and poor implementations encountered in even the most routine operations. This is truly a poor app and I would suggest, unlike most cases, you skip the app and conduct your business via the website.
Dead stick
by bob 551 on 2019/12/12 07:47
This app is about as useful as a rock. American partnered both legs of my return from Japan. No connectivity, no links and no information. The app is an embarrassment to those who write apps and is a waste of memory on my phone
Poorly designed in limited control
by Chocoruaman on 2019/12/12 02:55
Many others have already pointed out many of the flaws. Very annoying that you cannot manage your credit card preferences and you have to pay first when changing a flight then you can choose a seat. I got stuck in the middle. This alone will make me avoid American.

Character limitation
by praveensv83 on 2019/12/11 20:19
Hi team, I would appreciate if you can take care of the character limitation while logging in the app with last name In the desktop version, it allows me to log in with my membership, last name which is longer, password. When you login with same credentials in the mobile app, there is a character restriction for the last name I would want this resolved sooner
App for IPad stinks
by vbnmljhfdseghb cgjcdxh on 2019/12/11 19:10
I am Executive Platinum for 4 years. About 2 months the app updated and although there are no noticeable differences for the iPhone version, the iPad version is terrible for viewing. The functions all work but you have to turn the pad to Horizontal for most views. Those views are still not good. Does anyone on the team use an iPad? When are you going to update again?

Issues with buying a flight
by SarahSophiaW on 2019/12/11 04:41
The app works well during travel but not great when trying to purchase a fight.
The “free entertainment” doesn’t ever since they changed it
by JoseIG1990 on 2019/12/10 18:58
The Free entertainment on the APP has never worked on a single flight I’ve been. They should go back to be able to stream it in browser as its obvious their app is lacking in many ways.
Broken Since Update
by Crhousto on 2019/12/10 13:18
This is usually a pretty reliable app from what I’ve experienced. Since the last update, however, the app does not appear to work and has “connection” issues on both WiFi and cellular data, hopefully they fix it soon since I travel again for work this week.
Always an issue
by frtr8ed freq flyer on 2019/12/10 09:05
One of the worst apps I have. Utility is poor, overall usefulness low. American should find another developer
User interface design anyone?
by Kilroy440 on 2019/12/10 05:52
This is one of the most confounding, frustrating apps I’ve ever used. The design Feels random to the point of manic. Controls are all over the place, buttons and CTAs are spread everywhere without any consistent design language. You’ve decided to use non standard menu systems such as the very strange slide up contextual menu with both buttons and text menu options. I can't imagine how much effort it must be to maintain this completely custom UI that none of your users will have ever seen before in any other app. Do you track how many users get lost searching for things in the app? Please redesign this app interface and do user focus group testing before launching. Use common UI elements and flows. Stop trying to reinvent user interfaces. It's not working.
Garbage App
by Tx Ryan on 2019/12/10 02:07
I fly American a couple times a month. 9/10 times the app doesn’t work and says having trouble connecting or unable to connect regardless of where I am. Hire a developer that knows what they’re doing
What happened

Way too many calendar update alerts
by dynedain on 2019/12/09 16:54
I open up the app to check my connection time while I’m sitting on the plane, and it immediately starts spamming Siri with 11 updates for events! (No exaggeration, I counted). And most of those are listings for updating more than one event! This is incredibly annoying and needs to be fixed. I close the app - Another 8 alerts. I open the app again, another 6. I close the app and another 6. That’s 31 alerts in under 3 minutes!!!!
What??
by bruce rich on 2019/12/09 09:41
I don’t see where this app shows or does anything useful. I fly American in 4 days nothing on the app. What???
App and service close to the worst in the industry
by EX customer Zach on 2019/12/09 02:46
Disappointing level of service on my most recent flight from Dallas to El Paso- which will be the final time I let American frustrate my travel plans. The attendants were wasting lots of time manually counting customers, to the point where the attendants were arguing about the number of customers on board the flight. This is the only airline with whom I’ve flown that seems to struggle with elementary counting skills. Add to that a frustrating interface on this app and higher than average delays and bad customer service interactions. I’m no flight attendant, but by my math, that all adds up to a BAD company. Spend the extra money, fly Delta or United and thank yourself for avoiding American.

Connection Error
by Kris140385 on 2019/12/08 23:14
Even with full-service service or perfect wifi there is always a connection error and it can’t retrieve or do anything. Always have to close down the app and start over.
Poor readability on iPad
by Wsquared2 on 2019/12/08 20:24
Latest update is poor for iPad. For example, scrolling through flights in an itinerary, the second flight has obscured text, the third is even more off center. Very amateurish and crude looking.

I just updated to the latest version of the app. I can not get it to stay open for more than a few seconds. It keeps crashing. When I was able to open the app previously it was not as helpful or easy to navigate as the United app. A major update is needed.

Least Reliable Airline App
by Joeyanna9 on 2019/12/06 19:35
I don’t expect the world from a travel app. Just deliver on the basics and we’re good. The AA app is the least reliable airline app I have used. For example, here is a list of things I could do on the Delta app but not on the AA app: check in for a flight, check status of a flight and... open the app. After the check-in and status fails, the app just crashed repeatedly upon opening so yeah.
Constantly crashing
by JFJiii on 2019/12/06 18:03
App is seriously flawed
Most annoying app ever!
by NYC Cre8ive on 2019/12/06 16:16
My latest complaint I will add to a long list of why this app is terrible: now every time I open the app whatever flights I have in there cause a notification to display saying FLIGHT: AA NNNN ORD to XXX Location changed to ... but the location hasn’t changed and it states this every time the app opens. EVERYTIME! I’ve long had a major problem with the way AA hides the frequent flyer info until the very end of the purchase process - then that info goes away and can never be found again. They also have a problem in the app when you are flying from East to west and cross the international date line and try to purchase a ticket for that day. Example leave ICN at night to DFW and just before landing try and purchase a ticket for DFW to anywhere. Your phone is a day ahead and they populate the date field with a calendar that won’t let you select the prior day. So you’re forced to wait until you land and your phone clock resets.
Very Little Versatility
by WillieNelson1992 on 2019/12/06 13:39
I would bet that I am in the top 1% of time spent using the app as I fly often. I have many ideas for how it can be improved, but the first would be to make it to where cash and miles redemption values are pulled, preferably shown simultaneously, at the same time like in Delta’s app. Second, multi-city search should be an absolute no-brainer. Third, adding a filter to flight results for departure time (slider), arrival time (slider), flight duration (slider), cost (slider), class (I hate that Basic Economy shows up as it makes Sorting on Price cloudy just like on the website), and connecting city (check boxes). Fourth, being able to add more the one origin airport into a search would be very convenient. Fifth, GoGo Entertainment App is a nuisance - buying WiFi and accessing entertainment during flight should all happen in-app (I’m sure this is the most difficult as info would pull from many sources.) Sixth, the boarding passes added to Apple Wallet should disappear on their own after a flight has occurred. All of the above should be the standard for an airline’s app, excluding the WiFi and Entertainment all in one place.
The world is waiting
by Bacon609$!@ on 2019/12/06 12:23
When are you fools going to fix the fact that this app fails and closes CONSTANTLY. Look at the reviews. Hello, none of the other airline apps do this. Get it together people...

Authentication Does not work
by louieLouie21 on 2019/12/05 15:41
Not sure why, but the password only authenticates me when using their website. The app will not authenticate me, so I can’t login.
Totally unuseful
by giovvp on 2019/12/05 10:21
This app doesn’t do anything useful except marketing for their loyalty program, not even able to get boarding pass, totally useless
Another exercise in what airlines do best: Piss people off.
by SpeedChaser351 on 2019/12/05 06:16
Stupid app cause my AA account to be LOCKED OUT for too many password entry attempts. No idea HOW that happened since I logged into the app only once and it was set to stay logged in. Here comes the Best Part. The stupid app never tells you that the account is locked out. It just gives some stupid, cryptic, “Data communication” error or some such nonsense where you have no clue why things are not working. What a joke. Utterly pathetic. Flight was 2 hours left. Minutes from missing my cross country connection on last flight of the day and this stupid app stops working. Only after I logged into AA.com ( while on the ground because, of course, the in flight WiFi for as.com doesn’t work either) did I find out the account was locked out. Just pathetic all around. Great idea to lock out stupid Frequent Flyer accounts during peak travel stress moments. Frequent flyer account doesn’t need bank account level security features. Give me a break. It’s like they make an effort to find ways to piss people off.
Useless in iPad
by Jt1411 on 2019/12/05 01:42
American needs to simply hire a new app team. How do they release updates that don’t work on an iPad.
Can’t paste password
by Shawn c on 2019/12/05 01:41
Why would the developers block pasting a password to log in? This just encourages short passwords. I’m not going to spend an hour trying to type my 52 character password.

Account Information
by Meezo2000 on 2019/12/03 05:28
I have never had a worse or more frustrating experience than with the technical support of American Airlines. I, like many today, have my computer or mobile device save passwords, under Keychains. My passwords work on any other website but NOT American Airlines. I looked up what my username flyer miles no. is and password so I can put it in myself, and it still tells me that my password is incorrect. I cannot log in. I try contacting them and they require, guess what? A username and password to connect via email for customer service. I do NOT want to call in, I’m a millennial who prefers the convenience of a mobile app and or website. Update your system to the modern age and fix these bugs. I prefer my loyalty to a company that invests into the future instead of holding onto what was.

So bad...
by mm404 on 2019/12/02 07:56
First the good part- it hasn’t crashed yet and it shows the basic information I needed. That’s about it. UI of this app is incredibly bad and primitive. Minimum useful features and basically just bare bones. What should deserve negative stars is the login page. FFS I had to go to my computer and change my password to a short one because this app is not only unfriendly towards password managers but also you cannot paste passwords. At some length (around 16 or 18) characters it straight up stops showing what you type!

Booking flights doesn’t work
by hbhagwat on 2019/12/01 19:10
Tried booking an urgent flight this morning and the app would just freeze on me. Made 5 attempts (even swipe killed the app each time) and all of them failed. Finally, went to the United app and booked my flight there. AA needs to do better on this app if they want to avoid losing sales to competitors.
Font size too big
by Uwhsushens on 2019/12/01 18:44

No in app booking
by OCDMedic on 2019/12/01 06:35
When I try to search for flights it leaves the app and opens a page in safari. What’s the point of having an app that doesn’t offer native support for flight searches? I’ll stick to another app for my purchases.
Terrible
by Platplatmrot on 2019/12/01 01:01
The quality of this app perfectly aligns with the customer service, and flight management. Terrible. Sadly I had to be married to AA bc of the business I was in and it was not worth, similar to this app.
Worst Airline App Bar None
by MorrisRhawn on 2019/11/27 15:37
I fly almost weekly for my job and American is unfortunately the predominant airline at my home airport. Not only are they a horrendous airline to fly but this app is the worst. I use Delta, Southwest and United as much as possible and their apps are easy, intuitive and unlike AA’s functional. I have a flight today. Does it show that in the AA app? No!!! Are you kidding? It is actually easier to go online to their equally awful mobile site to check in for a flight. If you have to fly American you might as well have the app - just know it is HORRIBLE!

I don’t usually write reviews for apps because I rarely ever care to do so. However, this app is atrocious because it always have connectivity issues no matter if I’m using cellular data or WiFi. I’ve been trying to check my seat location and check-in with no luck. I think Southwest will be my primary airline from now on.
Worst of the lot
by GroundPoint on 2019/11/26 13:32
Of all the airline apps American Airlines is the worst. Over simplified yet difficult to use. Terrible search features. Non existent printing functions. Illogical menu and screen sequence and hierarchy. In a programming and design class this would be a case study of what not to do with examples of numerous missing features and bad database design.

There are not many features on this app of any benefit. Delta’s app is way easier and user friendly. American, please redesign this app for all of us. It would make your customers very happy!

App Bugs
by Karamachelle on 2019/11/25 04:15
1) location changes: I have four flights within the next week. I am continuously getting notifications for location changes. I’m not sure where the change is happening, but opening the app will trigger this, one notification for each flight. It will also happen randomly throughout the app, but four notifications are guaranteed when I open it. 2) on boarding pass: I checked in, but it took several attempts to actually get my boarding pass to show up.

Absolute garbage
by Bad ui on 2019/11/23 01:42
The most important part of this app is making sure the inflight entertainment works if you use Bluetooth headphones. This one does not, it sends you in circles, nothing plays pack except for the commercials. So that was a nice 6 hours, thanks AA. Tried the headphones they hand out but it was like listening to the original phonograph, I couldn’t even understand any speech inside the continuous howling resonance they emit.

by Teeteewee on 2019/11/21 23:36
Don’t ever fly American Air! You would do better flying Sprit Air. American Air will never have the standards as Alaskan Air #1 or Delta Air #2. Note: Delta is always overpriced.
Worst Airline App
by johncdenman on 2019/11/21 07:10
By far the worst airline app. Basically a watered down version of a watered down mobile version of a watered down desktop version... then of a watered down airline that AA is. This app truly is the basic of basic worn hardly any stored or cloud information.
Hate the new iPad update

Works great for me
by cindymcbubba on 2019/11/21 01:44
I am not a frequent flyer with lots of complicated demands. For me this app does everything I need. It gives me updates on my flight and my bags. It has entertainment choices. It has terminal maps. It even gives me the traffic to the airport. It’s made My travels much easier.
Do Not Like
by OfficiialJoree on 2019/11/20 23:53
Every time I try to log in I can’t. I tap on password and when I start typing it locks up and won’t let me. How are you going to have an app that doesn’t work.
Can’t even install it on my phone
by Tishy G on 2019/11/20 16:40
Every time I try I get “ unable to install American Airlines App,” On my up to date IPhone 11.
Reliable app, bad video integration
by Userzz on 2017/12/01 02:39
Seems like most people don't know how to review an app and instead review customer service issues 😄. Here's an actual app review. Been using consistently for over a year now. Used for 70+ check-ins, TSA points, and boarding. App is reliable, updates changes in flight information quickly, sometimes even before the pilot has informed passengers. A recent update broke the "clear expired passes" feature which was useful as I am a frequent flyer that uses iOS's wallet feature a lot. Using the app for in-flight entertainment is quite atrocious. UI loops that bring you back to square one and very infrequent experiences without glitches. Most of the time it just plain doesn't work. Maybe it's the plane's servers, but c'mon...WestJet got it right, why can't American!? The most recent update killed compatibility with iOS 9. Yeah, I should update, I get it. But really, how hard is legacy support?
Best US Airline App to Me
by TBGothard on 2019/04/27 16:19
Of all the airlines I fly in the US and even abroad, the American app is the best to me. It rarely glitches on my device. I am able to book paid and award tickets. Check-in, change seats, request upgrades, and navigate the airport. The airport maps help when I have to quickly make a connection but need to coordinate a quick food or rest stop before deplaning. Push notifications work well and the travel advisories on the home screen have helped me with rebooking/cancelling travel on more than one occasion. I would like to see the upgrade list view come available sooner than like 2 hours before departure and have the ability to download airport maps to my device. Sometimes when traveling internationally my data signal is not great so I can’t view the airport apps unless on WiFi. Also, when using the onboard entertainment feature you have to have the app plus it opens a window or two in safari to bring the entertainment up. I wish the app could coordinate all the flow of the entertainment more smoothly.
The app is great
by stewbinator on 2019/02/28 04:44
I read through the reviews and took issue with most of them. People qualify themselves as frequent fliers and then mention that this app is dysfunctional...as an Executive Platinum member (i.e.- I fly), I find this app highly capable. I find it useful in every way that I need it to be. I’m able to book revenue and award tickets, I’m able to select my seats, and when my upgrade processes I’m able to recheck my seat in the new cabin. I’m able to check-in and I find the app to be very useful in receiving flight updates. My company uses concur, and the moment my flight is reserved in concur it shows up in the app. I’m able to understand if my flight may be impacted based on the app-provided “inbound” flight, and I’m able to live-track my baggage in the event that I check bags. I’m not sure what people expect from an app, but in reading the reviews it seems that people are hoping that the app somehow will solve all of their travel nightmares, but I’m afraid those are classic weather, mechanical, and customer service issues.
Made whole trip convenient!
by ViridianPhoton on 2019/07/17 17:15
This app really made my travel experience easy not just in terms of getting flight and boarding info, but also navigating unfamiliar airports quickly. I didn’t need to enter any info to have my reservation front and center, and it filtered out legs of my trip that I completed (though they’re still accessible) The app has a map of each airports on the reservation, with their terminals/gates, and marks where the gate is in the map. You can also get directions if you want to. I had very short layovers and needed to get quickly to my next gate, and this app made figuring out where and how I needed to get there effortless. In addition it shows nearby airport restaurants and other things by name on the map. Also, when browsing restaurants, it pre-filters them based on where you’re at. It even has their menus, which I appreciated b/c I eat GF and wanted to know ahead of time if it would be a waste of time to eat somewhere. The map loaded fast too, and didn’t chug when I scrolled/zoomed. The confirmation reminders helped me not forget to do it, and the boarding passes added to passbook in the proper order (small detail but other apps have messed this up or don’t add all boarding passes for a multi-leg trip). Bottom line - I always felt the most relevant info to me at the time was present, was easy to find, and never slowed me down. Best airline app experience I’ve had. Don’t change anything!
Reliable information, very professional. No stress!
by Chicago Dad151235 on 2018/01/31 06:59
Unlike some others, I do find this app intuitive. Love being able to see inbound flight info, and updates for flight information is very timely. I feel like I have an inside track because in many cases, I have learned about gate changes and other info before formal announcements. Seat change requests are accurate, and I’ve never been let down. When traveling, we rely on having accurate information and having control, and this app helps me keep the stress level down because I never have to guess. Yes, sometimes the in-flight entertainment is glitchy, but I’m on a plane sharing a small network with many users so I’ve stuck to using data, only for work, and viewing downloaded movies or listening to downloaded music. There are too many other entertainment options out there these days for me to hold this against the app when that is not it’s main purpose.
I love this app! By far the best airline app!
by Ellejayare on 2019/05/08 00:07
I didn’t realize how much I love the American Airlines app until traveling on a couple different airlines recently and I really came to appreciate it. I get notified immediately through push notifications when there are any delays, flight changes, etc. and it also updates all the information on the boarding pass in my Apple wallet. I expected this from another airline and didn’t receive it - got all the way to that gate and then customer service before finding out a flight was cancelled, which never would’ve happened on American! Everything, including same day flight changes is a breeze to do in the app, and I also have been able to reschedule flights easily: I got notified that my flight delay would cause me to miss my connection and was offered other flight times that I could book immediately. Huge fan of the app and of American!!
Least Useful Airline App. And Airline.
by RedDirtNerd on 2019/02/04 05:30
Not living in a city that is a major hub for one airline, I frequently switch between American, United, and Delta. After booking with my company’s travel department my flights on United and Delta automatically show up in their respective Apps, along with boarding passes showing my Pre-Check status. To get a boarding pass in the American App, you will have to enter your confirmation number in the app to view your reservation, and it won’t show Pre-Check status. My Pre-Check number is in my profile and shows in the app, but according to American, because we don’t book directly with American they are unable give me boarding pass in app showing that I’m Pre-Check. This requires a trip to the Kiosk where I have to check in and manually enter my Pre-Check number and get a printed boarding pass. Push notifications are so far behind you won’t get a notice your flight is boarding until you’ve already (hopefully) landed at your destination. The one bright side is easy access to terminal maps in the app. But this app and this airline are in desperate need of an update in user friendliness.
Great App, Continuous Development
by MiscMel70 on 2019/06/24 23:30
I just opened my app in order to check in for my flight tomorrow from BOS to ORD. Upon refresh, I received a notice that they were looking for volunteers to take a different flight and wanted to know the minimum I would accept to switch. It said my choice had been noted and if needed I would be called to the desk tomorrow! Wow! That’s using technology to prevent fires instead of always fighting them. There is bad weather across the country and they are really working to prevent as much pain as possible at the airport tomorrow. I have one suggesting and this app will be simply the best in breed. For upgrades, please put the number of seats available along with the number of people checked in. That way you have a bit more of an idea if an upgrade is even possible. Currently, you can see your name of the list but not how many seats are available to begin with. Delta does this and I love it!
Becoming less useful esp on the Watch
by GumbyN on 2019/10/08 14:46
I usually give an app 3 stars if it at least does the minimum across all platforms. This app does not execute it’s features at an acceptable level. Forgetting about the missing features (well documented in other reviews), the watch app is horrendous. It no longer has complications for Apple Watch (not Series 5 paired to to XS Max, anyway). The complication functioning correctly is incredibly important on travel days to keep current with changing gates and departure times. For as a long as I’ve been using the app (across multiple phones and watches now), the watch would usually display incorrect times after connecting in a different time zone. For example, when I go from Florida to someplace else and connect in DFW, the change in time zone wreaked havoc on the app. I would frequently be onboard my 2nd segment and the watch was telling me how long until my 1st segment had to land. That is just nuts... but that is if it would give me flight info at all. Approximately 25% of the time, nothing would update and / or I couldn’t even get my flight to come across from the phone to the watch. Seriously, AA?!
Inconvenient and Behind The Times
by NewiphoneLady on 2018/03/24 11:36
American, you do a great job with so many things, but check out your competitor’s app and websites compared to your’s to update yours and make them both more user-friendly and alleviate stress on your employees, especially during busy travel times. Unlike United’s app, you can not upgrade your seats, other than within Coach....how much money are you missing out on from your customers from people like me who are too busy to sit on hold for literally sometimes hours or await a call back for hours only to be put on hold for close to 30 minutes before you can speak to someone. Give your customers to do business with you how they want to and your competitors are already doing. This, I would think would accomplish the following: 1. Allow much of your customer traffic to flow through your most cost effective channel: mobile and web sites 2. Make you more competitive and attractive with doing business with consumers the way they want 3. Give your company more revenue by allowing busy customers to upgrade to premium seating or change flights easily and at the last minute, which you might not have gotten otherwise. Research this channel, and I’m guessing you’d see you are leaving a lot of money on the table. Until these things are changed on your app or website, I, and many I know, will choose a competitor for the majority of my flights even if more expensive due to the convenience and upgrade factor they have in their apps and website.
Terrible app
by Swooshn1 on 2019/01/19 16:46
Terrible app, this isn’t very functional compared to the United app. I dropped United last year and I am a frequent flyer and now Platnium pro. The WiFi functionality in the air to stream just doesn’t work well in the app. How you have to switch back and forth multiple times going from ur WiFi settings to the app in order to play a video. U should simply be on the WiFi and then be able to select entertainment and be able to select the video all in the app. The upgrade list isn’t well done and isn’t able to be seen in real time except right before boarding. Interactive maps are terrible. Push notifications for boarding, or modifying push notifications to 15 min before boarding so you can leave the Admirals club and make it to your gate on time. Also it is a pain when ur boarding pass expires when in the air, a big problem when ur flight is delayed. I get better notifications from Kayak about my American Airlines delays and baggage claim then I get out of the American app. It is truly a disappointing app.
Hmmm..
by bodmodkub on 2018/10/25 08:10
I don’t understand so many of these reviews complaining about so many things that I’ve 100% been able to do on this app. I can load all the boarding passes for connections on my trips (you do have to add each individual one to your wallet, but that’s not hard). The app is fairly up to date with my flight info usually. I can check in to my flights through it. I never have to look up my trips with record locators (I do always book my flights through the app though, so maybe that’s why). I love that it tracks my checked luggage, fairly accurately too. I can’t speak to the in flight entertainment, I never bother to use it. If the plane doesn’t have in seat screens, I just use my Kindle or Surface Pro to watch downloaded Netflix or Prime Video stuff. I travel frequently, almost always on AA, and it has made traveling easier for me.
App has serious limitations much like American Airlines
by LaBradFord Shabazz on 2018/04/04 11:38
The app did not allow me to download multiple boarding passes. I was able to download mine but not my 9 and 6 year old daughters’ passes. I went to my laptop just to see if I could get them. I had to enter unique emails for each traveler in order to receive the boarding passes electronically. Thank goodness my daughters have email accounts I thought sarcastically. The point here is why go through the hassle?! Just get the passes printed at check-in. The other issue is the constant searching for my trip with the record locator. If I have a profile in the app and online, why doesn’t the app or the full website version keep a record of my trips associated to my profile? Why do I constantly have to input my record locator to view my upcoming trip? Much like American Airlines, this process was inefficient. The airline lost my consistent business years ago. I took this trip as the low cost option against my better judgement. I guess one gets what one pays for.
Close, but ugh
by DKorne on 2019/08/02 23:07
Can you please make the confirmation number for a flight easy to see?!? Even staff at the ticket counter could not find it to try to help me with check-in and got frustrated...all to just so you can verify if my bag is small enough to fit under a seat before I even get a boarding pass because of the new cheaper fare option restrictions of online check-in. One more reason added to the list of why this airline is ranked behind the competitors and why other professional travelers often agree with me in that “ugh, American” sentiment that goes beyond the app. On the upside, good in-flight entertainment experience that doesn’t require a secondary GoGo app as Delta’s does and notifications have been well done.
Great app on day of travel
by jmltx on 2019/09/03 22:48
Not sure what the poor reviews are about... certainly more about service issues than the app itself. As a weekly AA flyer, I find the app to be very helpful and intuitive. I don’t need to dig all over like the United app. Everything is on the home screen and it’s dynamic to what I most need at that time. Favorite features are the ability to order food from restaurants at DFW and a few other airports - need more! - and see the terminal maps to plan out a quick connect. Rebooking is great when it works, many times though the rebook option doesn’t show up in app timely for me. I get the text message about a cancellation or delay and race to the app and the rebooking shows sometimes but not others. Otherwise very positive experiences with the app!
We are American!
by Eh-vegas on 2018/10/04 10:03
It’s always great with American airlines because they listen. I have always taken the time to communicate with American Airlines and noticed that it does work overtime. I appreciate the constant upgrades that American brings to make it better and better each time. It’s a parent did American wants to be number one and I realize they’re not perfect, they are working hard to make it the best American Airlines possible. I appreciate this so good and hopefully some integrated parts will make this a better experience. Knowing how much time it takes to develop and tweak apps and sites, I appreciate the time invested to continually give us a great experience as we fly across this country with American Airlines. Thank you once again for serving us with excellence.
Lacks important features
by ...1690 on 2019/08/16 21:10
Frequent flyers need specific features which are just lacking in this app. It needs the ability to see ALL open seats on the flight you are on. It only shows the ones in your class. You can not tell how many seats are available for an upgrade which is something you really want to know. You have to act like you are booking a new trip on the flight you are booked on to see available first class seats. The upgrade list is not available to view until inside the 24-hour mark. Why? Other airline apps show this all along. The app will only show Admirals Club locations at airports OTHER than the one you are at if you have location tracking turned on. It will never show locations at the airport you are in. That is the only airport you care about at that moment. The only way to see the current airline locations is to turn off GPS in the app. Just bad programming. The ability to see alternate flights should be an easy thing. If your flight is delayed or cancelled I’d like to quickly and easily see options without acting like I’m booking a whole new flight which shows all flights for the day including ones that are already gone earlier in the day. There needs to be some thought and consideration for the basic needs of their frequent flyers on this app.
Not uptodate flight & gate notifications!
by DoogieBo on 2018/01/09 12:46
This is a useful app. However, you can’t depend on it to give you the latest up to date flight info. You can get Email notices from your ticketing, but this app doesn’t reflect the latest flight time or gate information. It always seems to be at least one update behind, even after forcing a manual refresh by swiping down. And the latest update is the only one that matters, especially when there is a gate change, or worse, an earlier departure time after a previous delay notice! This app needs to reflect the latest and most accurate flight information or it is useless. Update: now I’m waiting to boa d another flight. There has been a gate change. All the departure displays still show the old gate, the old gate still shows it’s incorrect status, and the new gate shows a different flight altogether. How is a traveler supposed to know what is the correct gate. Of course, this app is silent...
Not user friendly at all
by Planetarium54 on 2017/11/22 14:00
This app is the most complicated, non intuitive design I've ever come across. Whoever developed this app did it from a technical capability standpoint, not a user standpoint. A very common error in software development. Their business analyst or product owner should have let marketing drive the development of this app, with tons more focus group feedback from customers on what they like and don't like. If you guys want to develop a much better app, contact me ;) Trust me, you are suffering from a bad app experience, and I'd love to help. I develop software and am a certified scrum (agile methodology) master. Also, your web app encounters errors causing it to not sync with your mobile app, thus users are not getting their total miles. Your web app is not linked well to the Citi page for credit card registration. These tech issues are common in situations with a lot of technical debt. Too many corners were cut. Invest in redoing this, please. The user experience is horrible.
Horrible costumer service !!
by WHATAVAR on 2019/08/27 22:54
Out of all the airports all over the world the worst service by far from American Airlines is in la Guardia Airport and Miami International, the All Seem to be in a terrible cranky mood 24/7, never are never willing to help all they do is read the rules by the book. If you are looking to get your status Gold or Platinum back... GOOD LUCK with that. Always over charging for seats even if you have status, if you don’t they charge you 90$ for an emergency exit flight from Miami to NY, almost the cost of the ticket ( doesn’t make any sense), all the flying attendants are in a bad mood ALWAYS barking orders during the flight, the have ZERO clue how to make the costumers happy. We had to do an emergency landing in Baltimore going to NY for ABSOLUTELY no reason they couldn’t they you why then made us wait almost 2 hours in Baltimore inside the plane and didn’t even bother giving us water or a cookie, when I asked for coffee they said : WE DONT HAVE COFFEE RIGHT NOW ! The only thing they have is a lot of flights everyday but no matter what you always have a terrible experience with AMERICAN AIRLINES. If you are traveling to Europe the breakfast is a muffin and fake orange juice. They are sooooooo cheap in everything they do, all the planes are old inside. IF I KEEP GOING I WILL BE HERE ALL NIGHT WRITING BAD REVIEWS. AMERICAN AIRLINES : PLEASE STEP IT UP
Great App!
by PIT Traveler on 2019/09/29 11:27
I travel weekly for work and have to use a third party to book my flights. I love that my flight reservation appears right in the app and all I have to do is “check in” when I am ready. I don’t have to enter confirmation Numbers or anything. Also, my TSA precheck icon appears right on my electronic boarding pass(no action required from me). The flight and gate updates/alerts are extremely helpful too! To have a seamless app. experience - make sure your third party travel agent is entering your American Rewards Member number and your TSA Precheck number when booking your flight. Also, I made sure that the Airlines account has my TSA precheck info as well.
Unimaginative
by iNik959 on 2018/10/14 18:35
This app is very basic, unimaginative and boring. Can’t check-in with it so no e-boarding pass. Rather than the flight number, would like to see my reservation numbers instead. Too much drilling down to obtain information. For example; I should be given an option to “track or get updates" on this flight am looking at in my itinerary. I’m only given three basic options (not connected to me and my itinerary) to select from on the dash board (flight status, find trip and book flights) how ‘bout a "More" option; where I can inquire about bags info., check out admiral club, etc, etc. The app also needs to offer an option to upgrade to different class seat. I can only select a different seat and pay the new price for current class only. The app developers need to take a page from United, JetBLUe and or Delta airline app(s) layout and easy of use.
App is way better than 2.6 star rating
by Holte Ender on 2018/12/10 19:47
Delta Airlines is my airline of choice but flew AA from Minneapolis to Aruba via Charlottesville due to the cheapest fares. I had low expectations for the AA app based on the reviews, but can say it was just fine for all the general functions I needed, including changing assigned seats (very easy) and checking in. What I found excellent and exceeding my expectations was how easy it was to rebook my return flights when my original flights were canceled due to a major snowstorm. Travel alerts texts were sent early, along with several alternate dates/flights to choose from. A few clicks and all five travelers were rebooked with confirmed seats. Excellent!!!!!
App is helpful while traveling
by NPR fan in NC on 2018/01/01 23:54
I have the app set to give me banner updates, so I always know if there is a gate change or a delay. I love being able to tap the gate to see a map of the terminal; I know exactly where to go to catch my connecting flight. American lets you use on-board wireless for free when checking the app. This most recent round trip was great in terms of service, so I think American is really trying. I have had service issues in the past, but I digress. The app also lets you track your bags so you can relax after getting on your connecting flight when the app tells you your bags have been loaded.
Don’t rate the app based on your flight complaints
by cjw5027 on 2018/06/22 07:08
I’m a frequent business traveler and find this app very intuitive and easy to use - it is a great centralized area of information (even going so far as to integrate travel time estimates based upon traffic to get to the airport). This is a great app - don’t pay any attention to the haters. I think too many people are writing a review here after a poor flight experience - which is completely unrelated to app design. I wish that the mileage would update faster than within 48 hours-ish of flying, but this is a function of their database update policy more than the iOS app itself.
Good info and easy to use
by EngineeringType on 2018/02/20 19:28
On a recent trip with multiple connections, this app provided good info on all those flights, the gates, and internal maps of those airports, including step by step directions for getting from arrival gate to departure gate (big help to us in LAX and DFW). It updates info such as gate changes fairly quickly when you turn off airplane mode on your device between flights. We used it to download our boarding passes to our phones in advance, and used those at all the gates. Would be nice if this app also included accurate info about meal availability for each flight.
Some good, some not.
by Tntoofore on 2018/09/20 20:54
Easiest of all so far to get boarding passes and put them on Wallet. But, my flight was only a single destination and return. If is true that having a more complex flight involves two searches, That is a negative. Our negative was the my wife’s boarding pass was not accepted at the gate, although it had been at the baggage pickup. Tried to redownload it, but ended up having to get her a printed one. Luckily, The Philadelphia airport made that easy for those with Precheck, but could have been a real problem. Have never had that problem with other airlines. Attendant said “happens sometimes”. Needs to work with Apple Pay and be able to pay for luggage without getting out credit card.
Good and getting better
by pscoulter on 2019/10/27 14:35
I’ve recently switched to flying primarily American based on the routes I fly most. Especially after reaching Gold status, when more things opened up in the app, the app experience has continued to improve. I love that I can now book my main cabin flight using my corporate card and then pay to upgrade to first using my personal card. The only issue that I run into consistently is that when I pay to upgrade my flight, I always have to re-enter my card details. The UI suggests that I should be able to use a card on file, but none of my payment methods are listed. Fixing this would make upgrading a snap!
Frustrated
by Kplan23 on 2018/01/21 04:36
The anxiety caused by airport travel has only gotten worse over time. I was excited to not have to print out paperwork and constantly be concerned about loosing it. The app is unintuitive for casual fliers. The check-in kiosk would never read our QR codes so I was glad we always printed out the paperwork. Very frustrating and disappointing that app didn’t seem to work. Eventually an airline rep told us with the electronic boarding pass we could bypass the kiosk and go straight to TSA Pre-Check. We wish we had known that on previous flights. It will be timesaver on future trips. I’m very happy not to have paper documents to keep track of! I can’t speak about how it handles flight delays or gate changes. The iMessage portion of the app is unnecessary but adds a little fun back into travel.
App is unstable
by KeithDigital on 2018/11/25 17:54
I have had a consistently bad experience with this app over several generations of iPhones, IOS updates and app versions. For the past two years, the app consistently tells me that there is no internet connection, and is unable to function, despite having a full connection, be it WiFi or Cellular. It shows this error over and over again even after erasing and downloading the app, logging out and relogging back in, and even as I have updated the phone itself from iPhone 7 through the X. Sometimes the app works for a week, then the error suddenly comes back and it no longer works. This is definitely not a user error, the app is technically flawed. As a technology executive and very frequent traveler, I am astonished how AA has permitted this glaring performance issue to persist for so long.
Good in perfect conditions, but very finicky
by asuraiya on 2019/04/13 03:06
This app is useful, but only if you have perfect network conditions. It is very, very bad at recovering from loss of network (or even going into airplane mode, which you might recognize as use case for literally everyone who flies on an airplane). The app recently refused to update gate information after regaining network connectivity from my last flight. While other apps (and even the mobile boarding pass) had no problems getting updates, even a manual refresh in this app refused to update the info, which I relied on as a source of truth for where my next flight would be. Moral of the story: Don’t rely on this app for up to date flight info, which I would assume is a basic requirement for an app like this.
Terrible app
by Coacostea on 2018/05/26 20:04
I fly a lot, on all the different airlines. I’ve never had as many problems with an airline app as I do with this one. It won’t track my bags accurately, it doesn’t refresh, it can’t tell me anything useful without redirecting me to the mobile website (which is NOT mobile friendly). It won’t let me see my boarding passes or change my seat assignment or even see any of the flight details, like how long the flight is or if a meal is included. It’s not user friendly, it constantly “loses” my information and makes me log in again and add my trip again. And worst of all it locks me out of my AAdvantage account repeatedly, saying I’ve input the “wrong password” more than 6 times, and then I have to call customer service and they never have a long-term solution for me. I hate using this app.
Does Not keep up to date
by _Christa_ on 2019/07/11 01:30
-inaccurate if there’s any flight changes -doesn’t send you text notifications till way too late -erases my flight information I enter when I get off the tab, making it ridiculously hard to keep constant track I flew from California to Michigan and back again with a total of 3 layovers with this airline and this app. It was terrible. Most of my flights were delayed. And every time the app and the screen at the gate didn’t give the accurate information. It would say it was departing on time at 805pm when the time was 810pm. My flight was canceled and I’m waiting in a massive line to rebook. You would think they would be more tech and information savvy at this point in time. Very disappointed.
Compatibility fixes needed
by AA loyal road warrior on 2017/12/03 12:50
This has been a reasonably reliable app until recent updates killed its compatibility with older versions of iOS - I do not always update my iOS immediately when the latest version is released. Come on American developers... If you want us using your App then please verify compatibility when releasing updates. Other nice to haves would be automatically updating your flight reservation data when opening the app (you have to manually thumb down on screen to update). More functionality from the full website such as viewing available seats and making changes would also be helpful. Or maybe I just should use the full website instead of the newly released weak app...
Very disappointed, worst trip ever
by lara0808 on 2018/09/02 22:56
What a bad experience with this company, I don’t have words to describe what I felt the past August 7 th, 2018, a day I would never forget. On my way to Cuba at the “plane door” a representative told me that my carry on bag which one passed the requirements to travel with me, had to go in the hold of the plane not with me because there was not more space on the cabin. Me and a few people were too disappointed with that news many started complaining but there was not option. Once I get home I realized that someone stole things from my suitcase ( valuable things ) I returned to the airport and they only filled out a claim, nothing else. At this time I haven’t received a solution even though I have evidences. NO BODY CARES, and because of that I WOULD NEVER EVER GOINT TO TRAVEL WITH AMERICAN AIRLINES AGAIN ON MY LIFE👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Charlotte to Aruba November 9, 2010
by markland796 on 2019/11/09 17:15
Currently still sitting on a plane in Charlotte, NC. Should have left at 9:38am. Sat on the plane at the gate for 30 minutes. Pilot said we were waiting for clearance. Finally left the gate and went to where the fed ex planes were parked. Sat there for another hour. Pilot then tells us there is a water pressure issue with the plane and we must return to the gate. We are now 2 hours on the plane. We get back to the gate, the pilot tells us the water problem is now fixed but the crew has to be replaced!!! We get off the plane for 20 minutes, then get back on the same plane... with you guessed it... the same crew!!!!!! The pilot now tells us he will delay our flight another few minutes so they can bring meals on for us to BUY! Are you kidding me! 3 hours of BS and they want us to purchase meals.
No pop ups for flight changes
by Kirsti N on 2019/02/06 14:08
Why have an app that one depends on for travel information, but that doesn’t actually provide information? No pop up notifications if there’s a gate change. No pop up notifications when a flight is canceled. You have to actually OPEN the app and get the twirly wheel for it to update and THEN you have your new information. So as a result those early morning flights that get canceled at 10pm the night before aren’t being communicated through the app unless you happen to open the app before you leave at 5am to get to the airport. Who checks email late at night or at 5am? Not those who have late business dinners and then are up at 4am the next morning to catch a flight. So here is the message AA: email is out and texts and apps are in. Use them.
Solidly Sub-par
by FlyinRyan7 on 2019/02/23 00:16
Coming from another major airline with a great app, I can solidly say the American Airlines app is noticeably sub-par. It’s missing all kinds of information and functionality to make your travel experience smooth. Things missing: 1. Trip duration - want to know how long you’ll be in that metal tube so you can make better food/entertainment choices? Too bad! The app doesn’t tell you that. 2. Seat maps - want to know if that seat next to you is open or where the heck your seat actually is on the plane? Nope. You can’t. 3. Mileage accrual - want to know how many miles (EQMs) you’re earning for your current flight? Sorry! 4. Aircraft location - sometimes you can see information concerning your arrival aircraft. Most of the time you can’t. Unclear why this information can’t be available consistently. While there is a lot to complain about concerning this app, the designers got a few things right: 1. Home screen provides useful information the day of flight 2. Track your bags is well integrated 3. Each flight instance being a “card” and swiping through them works well.
Not good
by superliver on 2017/10/15 19:09
I was traveling for work and making a connecting flight in Dallas today, when my boss and co-worker ran to the restroom. We had been watching the gate and knew the departure time however....when they say they lock the gate at ten minutes till they are NOT joking. We were two minutes late, still ten minutes prior to departure, when the ladies at the gate closed the door right in front of us and said we were too late. We were polite and explained that we were right there and just needed to use the restroom. They did not care. TWO MINUTES! So now we will wait for four more hours because we have no choice. Poor customer service! We watched the plane sit there for another 10-15 minutes. Apparently flight regulations are more strict with American Airlines than ANY other airline.
Worst app ever
by hated it b87 on 2019/10/24 13:12
This app is dated and terrible- it doesn’t load correctly freezes etc. this morning I tried to check in and it kept timing out even tho my phone is fine and WiFi is on. Last time I took a flight with American I planned on just using the app for my mobile ticket. I waited in the security line for 30 mins got to the front to tell me that my information was incorrect (the app did not refresh my ticket info) and security could not process it. They sent me out the the kiosk to print a paper ticket so I could get thru security. Apparently this is a huge problem with the app and happens to many people. It’s pointless if u still have to sign in at the kiosk. I used to like American but due to the dated nature of the app and me almost missing my flight I grown weary of their crap.
Please copy the United app
by mmp621 on 2018/04/21 16:24
I am a loyal frequent flyer. Have always checked in using the app and iWallet. I thought the app was OK. Not intuitive at all but OK. After a 12+ hour delay on my flight home yesterday, I ditched American and got on the last center seat on a United flight. Not only were both planes I rode on the most modern, clean, and comfortable, the United app was AWESOME!! So easy to find the on flight entertainment, food options, automatic maps showing how to get from one gate to the other, shows where your plane came from and when doors are closing, etc etc, etc. All that on the very first landing page. Get with the program American. With the high costs of your airline tickets you have absolutely no excuses as to why you would not invest providing ia great app with a great user experience. SMH
You are at Risk if you don’t Refresh the App Often!
by Cheets 1045 on 2019/02/24 16:04
I am an AAdvantage member for over 20 years. And am being discouraged by this App. It does not refresh when you open it. The information on your flight can be months old and totally incorrect. Currently we have flights booked but are on separate Locaters. One person received an email changing the flight and seat. I went to the App and nothing was changed. No text or email came to me either. I realized it did NOT refresh! Once I did that it updated. Had someone else no told me of the change I could have missed the flight and worse would have to ague for a refund/credit towards another flight. AA- please assign someone to update this App!
I don’t understand the bad reviews.
by Holly Would on 2019/02/15 20:26
I like the app. It has everything I need in it and is easy to navigate. It was very easy to change flights when I needed to. When one of my flights was delayed, making me miss my connection, I didn’t have to wait in line at the service desk. American had already saved me a seat on the next flight and all I had to do was confirm it in my app. I got an alert that another flight was delayed and I just changed it in the app. I gave it 4 stars because it seems they could combine some info into one location in the app, but it was totally easy to use.
Reliable app!
by aamiles94 on 2019/04/05 11:30
I was honestly surprised to see the AA app with such low ratings. As an AAdvantage member, I rely on this app to book flights, keep records, track my luggage & family’s flights, etc. The app is always sending me push notifications about gate numbers and check in times the day-of my flight (or the night before when I fly early). When I book through 3rd parties, my flight information is transferred over. The app is easy to navigate and provides plenty of information regarding your flight and the airports you’ll fly in and out of. However, I rarely fly United or Delta, so I cannot speak about their respective apps. Reading the reviews, it seems like the majority of the people have issues with the airline itself, hoping that the app will solve all their travel problems. Unfortunately travel apps don’t have control of weather/travel delays, lost luggage, or who is/isn’t upgraded (yet).
Boarding pass functionally is broken
by Amrish on 2019/10/15 09:44
With the recent update to iOS and the app, there seems to be an issue with the mobile boarding pass. Despite of getting the mobile pass in the wallet app and having all settings related to showing pass on lock screen and location access to aa app and wallet app turned on, the boarding pass has stopped showing up in the lock screen. Also, long standing complaint with the aa boarding pass is still not resolved. All other airlines shoe the boarding time in the boarding pass. No, aa can’t make your life simple with such a small convenience. They want you to login to their app and look at your trip to figure out the boarding time!
Great tool for the travel savvy!
by lojosol on 2018/12/17 22:23
I love the American Airlines app. Every booking I make with my AAdvantage number automatically load into the app so it’s hassle free. Checking in couldn’t be simpler either. 2-3 clicks and I have my boarding pass loaded into the wallet. Easy way to keep track of my AAdvantage miles too, and I even get a nice countdown to my flight a few days before. Not only that I can get the countdown straight on my Apple Watch too. Hoping that one day American will include augmented reality in the app for traversing their hubs, but as the app is today, it’s pretty awesome!
Charles Barkley Turrrible!!!!
by Nirrad85 on 2019/10/19 21:39
This app used to be ok, now it’s gotten less than ok. Twice within two months I’ve had to uninstall/re-install this app to get it to work like it normally should!!! Just today was trying to retrieve my boarding pass and could get the menu to pop-up to add/review in Apple Wallet. (Side note — I HATE being forced to view the boarding pass in Apple Wallet. I never use that app and would prefer to just open the boarding pass in the American app!!!) The first time I had to uninstall/re-install was because when paying for my checked bag I could scan my card with my camera and it would take the information, but then I wouldn’t have any kind of “confirm” button to save the information into the fields to continue with my payment...so I was having to enter my information manually!!! 😡 Where is the QC on this American?! And one more thing...WHY THE HECK AM I PAYING FOR MY BAGS AND CHECKING IN ON THE APP IF I STILL HAVE TO USE THE KIOSK AND TAG MY IWN BAG MYSELF??!!! Take a lesson from Delta...if I do everything in the app, all I should have to do is drop my bag off at the counter and head to security! MAKE IT EASY for customers to do business with you!

The app is broken!
by At197113 on 2019/12/13 02:12
The app has been in a steady decline for the past year, but now you really broke it. So said to see it repeating the path of the airline: down, down we go.. So said and so undeserved for an airline with such legendary past and name.

Garbage App
by Theresal11 on 2019/12/12 10:28
This app is absolutely horrible, and it’s apparent the public agrees.

Way too many calendar update alerts
by dynedain on 2019/12/09 16:54
I open up the app to check my connection time while I’m sitting on the plane, and it immediately starts spamming Siri with 11 updates for events! (No exaggeration, I counted). And most of those are listings for updating more than one event! This is incredibly annoying and needs to be fixed. I close the app - Another 8 alerts. I open the app again, another 6. I close the app and another 6. That’s 31 alerts in under 3 minutes!!!!
What??
by bruce rich on 2019/12/09 09:41

Poor readability on iPad
by Wsquared2 on 2019/12/08 20:24
Latest update is poor for iPad. For example, scrolling through flights in an itinerary, the second flight has obscured text, the third is even more off center. Very amateurish and crude looking.

Get it together people...

by louieLouie21 on 2019/12/05 15:41

by SpeedChaser351 on 2019/12/05 06:16
Stupid app cause my AA account to be LOCKED OUT for too many password entry attempts. It’s like they make an effort to find ways to piss people off.

by Jt1411 on 2019/12/05 01:42
American needs to simply hire a new app team. How do they release updates that don’t work on an iPad.

At some length (around 16 or 18) characters it straight up stops showing what you type!

by hbhagwat on 2019/12/01 19:10
Tried booking an urgent flight this morning and the app would just freeze on me. Made 5 attempts (even swipe killed the app each time) and all of them failed. Finally, went to the United app and booked my flight there. AA needs to do better on this app if they want to avoid losing sales to competitors.

If you have to fly American you might as well have the app - just know it is HORRIBLE!

by GroundPoint on 2019/11/26 13:32
Of all the airline apps American Airlines is the worst. Over simplified yet difficult to use. Terrible search features. Non existent printing functions. Illogical menu and screen sequence and hierarchy. In a programming and design class this would be a case study of what not to do with examples of numerous missing features and bad database design.

1) location changes: I have four flights within the next week. I am continuously getting notifications for location changes. I’m not sure where the change is happening, but opening the app will trigger this, one notification for each flight. It will also happen randomly throughout the app, but four notifications are guaranteed when I open it. 2) on boarding pass: I checked in, but it took several attempts to actually get my boarding pass to show up.

by Bad ui on 2019/11/23 01:42
The most important part of this app is making sure the inflight entertainment works if you use Bluetooth headphones. This one does not, it sends you in circles, nothing plays pack except for the commercials. So that was a nice 6 hours, thanks AA. Tried the headphones they hand out but it was like listening to the original phonograph, I couldn’t even understand any speech inside the continuous howling resonance they emit.
