It does have some good stuff but if you want to watch literally like any action movie such as any Marvel movie, it's gonna say "unlocked with live tv" or "unlocked with stars TV" live TV is 40 dollars a month. Completely overpriced and absurd. It's good for basic movies, but not the best choice.

Customer services is horrible to start off with. They hang up and are very short and careless through live chat and over the phone. Instead of helping they chuckle at a customers concerns. Def not appropriate for a family with CHILDREN. Couldn’t watch anything without a commercial of girls half naked talking about being strippers or other inappropriate commercials along that line. Going back to Netflix!! Waste of money plus they don’t have a wide variety of things to watch.

Hulu has a lot of good entertainment options but the way that the show jumps around every time I accidentally tap the screen almost makes the app not worth using. It is especially frustrating when it accidentally rewinds and when I try to move it back to the right spot, I have to rewatch the commercials that I already sat through.

While Hulu has a good selection of movies and shows, I won’t be using them anymore. Live TV is terrible and freezes constantly during games like the World Series and Super Bowl. I paid for no commercials on top of my costly subscription and yet I still get commercials often when watching movies. Also, those commercials are almost twice as loud as the volume of the movies so you have to constantly adjust the volume. That’s just insulting to their subscribers. They need to put the subscribes before their attempts to make more money off a ridiculous amount of ads.

In this current version I have had several issues with my account saying that I have too many devices playing to many things at once. I am currently the only person using this account. I have tried deleting the app then downloading it, I’ve tried resetting the Chromecast I use as well. It won’t let me watch videos. Please fix this 😣

When I’m watching a show, it skips anytime my hand touches the screen. The swipe to fast forward/rewind feature seems like a good idea, but the functionality is flawed. I spend a few minutes of each episode trying to figure out where I was.

While casting to Chromecast, the alarm clock volume, ringer volume, various videos in apps (Facebook etc) all stop working properly. This does not happen in other apps with casting abilities. Can this get resolved or at least give us the option to not link the volume outside of the app?

I don’t know if it’s only happening to me but every time that I’ve tried downloading Hulu and subscribing it takes for ever to load. It doesn’t even let me see what’s available to watch or anything it just keeps loading and loading.. it’s happened to me twice already. This really is upsetting. I hope this problem gets fixed soon.

Some videos, you finish them, but Hulu promise your home screen for some episode that happened long ago. If you have a few seconds left of any video, there’s no way to tell the app that you’ve already finished watching it. It just keeps sending you back to that video! It’s really annoying! And no one at Hulu fix this. And please mix up the commercials. I just saw the same credit card commercial three times on the same episode.

This app is about the dumbest most stupidest app I’ve ever had, like seriously! First on my computer when I have the subtitles on, a box appears with it blocking half the screen for over a month! Then they update the app which FINALLY fixes that issue, but every time I rewind 1 second back after an ad plays( because I missed something in the show) I have to watch ads ALL OVER AGAIN like dude I watched the fricken ad I shouldn’t have to rewatch it! Anyways I’m about done with Hulu it’s basically become impossible to watch from my phone, I enjoyed it over netflix because of the older shows they have, but honestly it’s not worth it. Back to Netflix I go!

When I open the hulu app, the new episodes show up in my stuff but when I click on it to watch it, it pulls up the show’s page and says there is no content. I just want to watch the new Grey’s Anatomy episode (which shows up when on the home page) but when I click on the show it says there are 0 episodes available😩

Movie and TV series selections are a little week. Also the Apple TV app lags quite a bit. Have to do mirroring to stop the stuttering. The mobile app is very smooth. I just was expecting a better selection of shows and movies.

To start off, everything was going great; As far as creating an account, and getting my card information .. I didn’t get an email from Hulu about setting up my account, however, I did get an email from Apple about my subscription being successful. I tried logging in and it says my “password and email don’t match.” I tried using the reset password link to reset my password. It’s been almost an hour, after 2 attempts of waiting on the reset password link, I still haven’t received an email. This is not a great experience to start with.

I love Hulu when it’s operational and functioning. The playback is often an issue on my iPad, error messages pop up, accessing shows is confusing at first until one notices the top tabs and the list of seasons for certain shows are wrong further confusing the viewer (I.e. Intervention seasons have the wrong content so Season 15 videos are posted under Season 14), not all seasons are broadcast and/or shows are not available.

Tried logging in and starting a free trial just to watch the newest episode of greys anatomy and it wasn’t working on my laptop. Every time I clicked “start free trial” the website would crash and say error. So I downloaded the app on my phone and it said I started my free trial and my iTunes account would be charged in one month after the trial ends. Now I can’t log in at all. I really just want to cancel everything but I can’t log in at all to cancel it. Going to be pretty mad if my iTunes gets charged for something I can’t even use because the website/app doesn’t work.

During my time using this application for 9+ hours a day at work I can say I’m extremely disappointed with the update. I was able to play these videos in the background without having my phone die because I would lock the phone while working and I could just listen to this in the background. Granted, I’m sure that many people didn’t know how to do this. But this is a feature I’d like back. Or at least be able to downgrade to previous versions of this application.

I hate the new version of this app! It’s so not user friendly, I have nothing to show me when there’s new episodes of the shows I watch, unless I go digging. I miss being able to see clearly first thing when I open the app shows I watch and what has a new episode. I struggle to find anything and my child can’t use it at all anymore without me fully setting up which is also quite frustrating. Please bring back a simpler version!!

I’m honestly so sick of the way Hulu does it’s commercials. Like you $43/mo and you get the same endless commercials as with the any other live tv station, but here’s the problem, its the same ones playing over and over again, every show I watch there got 3-5 different commercials and they keep playing them for the entire show it really drives me nuts. I’m switching to DTV now and at least they let you record and skip the commercials. I will never do business with Hulu ever again.

It would be great but it seems to have to buffer a lot...even when I have fiber optics with 1 Gig download and 1 Gig up... Not cool when you trying to experience a movie and it’s sound effects then all a sudden...buffering... live tv definitely has buffering issues and lower quality playback.

HULUPLUS with cloud dvr still has a lot if bugs in it, but having used it for two months now, I am happy. But what this needs desperately is a cable/satellite TV on-screen program guide, one that allows viewers to see programing for two or more weeks. The current guide that shows only the current program and the next up is totally useless. For a dvr to be useful, the viewer should be able to see and schedule upcoming programming. I pay extra for this feature and yet I feel I have to go to outside sources to keep ahead of programs I may want to see. It is also annoying that recorded programs often cut off about thirty seconds than they should. All recordings seem to start one minute ahead of the scheduled begin time, so techs could easily add a minute after the recording as well.

It’s too expensive at this time to enjoy it, right now in my life. I’ve been trying to get my trial end date information but I can’t find it? I need to find out when the last day of my free trial is so I can cancel. I finally got use to the update a while back that was so terrible. The feedback from the masses said it wasn’t friendly. And it’s NOT. The newest update has too many taps. Example watch next episode brings up more choices and to watch it in full view you have to tap 2 more times. Many other places. Please ask your users for feed back before making more changes that don’t make sense.

First off the app’s performance has improved with new updates. Thank you....BUT. I hate the new home screen. I don’t want to scroll thru a bunch of screens to find the latest new episodes of my favorite shows. Scrolling takes time. I liked the old view (where many different shows were shown at once. )better. One show per page is poor use of screen space. Please change back or give settings options.
Please fix

First off I am no longer having issues with the show jumping to a new position every time i touch the screen so thank you for fixing that. The problem I am now dealing with is that after watching the second and third commercials in an episode, the play bar will jump to right after the first commercial, causing me to have to move it back to where it was and making me watch the same commercials a second time. An easy solution for you would be to select about 30 seconds to 2 minuets worth of commercials per regular episode, which is about 25 minuets or so, and playing immediately before the episode begins or half way through, clearly multiple commercials is too difficult to maintain, causes the episode to lag due to constantly having to switch between loading the show and a commercial series, and quiet frankly i believe your customers would much prefer to get the commercials over with quickly. In addition to this im not really sure why you need to have so many commercials anyway, given that we, the customers, pay continually for these services, but another solution might be to simply add a package where the costumers could pay a little more money annually and opt out of having to deal with commercials at all. I would certainly pay more for this. In any case whatever you choose to do, please fix this glitch with your app and thank you also for taking the time to read my complaint.

I was hoping that when I did the new update that would change the fast forward and rewind but it didn’t unfortunately! Very inconvenient being in the middle of watching a show and going to pause then by accident you hit the screen wrong; rewinding or fast forwarding when you didn’t even want too, then having to watch the commercials all over again! I use to love this app. Been watching Netflix more lately cause I keep getting frustrated, of having to rewatch commercials over and over just to get to the part of the show where I was actually watching. My captions have not been working either for some reason?? Hopefully this fast forward/rewind gets changed, at least it’s just not me having the same problem. I don’t want to cancel but if it doesn’t change I just might.👎🏽😕 I also have been a little frustrated because my son is autistic and he loved the kidsongs videos. This was one of the only places I could find it and it was taken off; which he is upset and doesn’t understand where it went. I’m not sure how the shows change or get taken off?? I was in the middle of trying to catch up on a show; which if I’m not mistaken is says in the commercials you can catch up on all your shows? I could be wrong but it’s like a tease they have them there, as you’re in the middle of watching it one day then the next with no warning whatsoever it was gone!!!🤯😳😔👎🏽 Thank you hopefully some of these issues can be resolved😇
Terrible Update

This is the least user friendly streaming app available at the moment. I thought I could get used to how they have set my preferences up and the different tabs for the home screen, and I'm making progress there, but there's one feature I really cant stand. It makes me grit my teeth. It RUINS the experience. It's the new rewind feature. It MUST be changed. You have to tap the screen to make the rewind/fast forward/pause buttons appear, which darkens and covers the screen so you're missing whatever is happening. At that screen, you can see the time bar at the bottom, but if you touch any area of the screen that's not one the rewind/pause buttons, it recognizes it as you want to go that area of time in the show. So if I'm 40 minutes into a 45 min show but I press below to rewind button instead of exactly on it, it will jump back to minute 15. This is specifically a problem when the minute it's jumped back to is a commercial. It's just too sensitive. To be fair, it more easily goes to the exact second you want to pick up from if you are using the feature intentionally. (Still not worth it though.) Also, if I pause a show with 1-2 minutes left, it starts the show over when I try to get back to it instead of letting me finish my show. Even its been just a few minutes.

Have tried uninstalling then reinstalling. Deleting and installing again and logging in then out. Search for a show and it doesn't show up but I find the same show when scrolling through available shows so the search feature doesn't work. I cannot watch any shows, it gives me an option to browse the show, but when I try to watch any episodes the screen flickers and stays the same. When I hit the back button the screen flickers again, when I hit the back button again it goes back to original screen. It registers and creates a while new page that I have to back out of instead of letting me watch show. After his supposed new update I cannot watch anything. Tried via browser and it kept telling me to install the app that doesn't work and when I try to access support the screen flickers then stays the same again. All other apps works fine, this was using multiple different wifi networks in different locations as I was on vacation. Would give -5 stars if I could. At this point I'm paying them to get frustrated and waste my time since I can't even watch anything. Will have to try watching on my laptop when I get home, shouldn't have to and they shouldn't release a supposed improvement which is worse and doesn't even work.

I updated the app to try the live streaming feature and the platform is so difficult to work with now. There's no longer a preview when skipping to different points in a watched show, it's difficult to select episodes from a series, and on and on. Don't update! They automatically did the same thing on Roku - not user friendly at all! Want to add that now using it for a week, it's even worse than I thought. I go to play a show and accidentally skip to the beginning or end, because the button areas are so sensitive. If I click the back 10 seconds, half the time instead it moves the show to that point, because the "skip to spot in show" is active all over the screen, not just on the timed status bar, like it should be. I also end up going back to the episode list or skipping around in a show by just trying to touch the screen to get rid of the grey screen over the show (containing the play, back 10 seconds, etc buttons). You also can't always tell which episode was last watched, because it doesn't always display the "status bar" anymore, etc (and the color was changed from green to white so it's hard to see anyway)... So disappointed!!!!!!! Would rate 0 stars if possible, as this is the most backwards update ever.

Like multiple people have stated this new app have terrible features from the get go. Thankfully they fix the picture in picture after a couple of updates and I don’t know what else they’ve been updating the past couple of times and fine I’m getting used to the new interface with the terrible fast forward and rewind feature they added is horrible. If you accidentally click on the screen or even purposely click on it because you want to fast forward or rewind 10 seconds or so if you click anywhere on the screen it jumps to that point. Even the softest touch cause it to happen. If I have my iPad on my desk in my elbow touches the screen twice it’ll immediately jump to that point. You have to at least limited to only a certain part of the screen or just the bar showing time elapsed. Every single point of the screen cannot be activated by such a stupid sensitive and feature. I’m rewinding back to the beginning’s of episodes of having to pour through the stupid logos of the networksAnd then search for where I left off. I know you guys probably don’t care but this is really made the app more troublesome then I can stand it is so frustrating and happen so easily and that I can’t stand the fact that I’m paying to endure this.

i used to love this app. but its gotten absolutely annoying to have and use. First off, the new rewind / fast forward feature is IRRITATING, sometimes all i do is tap the screen to press pause it it'll rewind or fast forward way too far, and if it goes too far forward or back i have to watch a super long ad, and then have to go back to where i was and im stuck watching another long ad. Another thing that's new that is annoying as hell, is the length of the ads. ive never really had an issue with watching ads until recently. the ads are 2 - 3 minutes long every ad and theres 4 - 5 ads in every episode. i dont wanna watch 15 minutes of ads every time i watch an episode. and lastly, the closed captions. i have them turned off for every show or movie i watch. if i watch one episode of a show, the captions wont be there, and then ill put on the next episode and they'll be there and wont turn off unless i close the app and open it again. and then i have to go through that process after every episode. if i have my closed caption settings for off, they should remain that way unless i change them. please fix this.
Rewind/ffd

I don’t review apps often, but I’m adding yet another bad rewiew in the hopes that with enough complaints, they’ll fix this. People have commented about the Rewind/FFD function in the overhaul of this app, and I’m glad I’m not the only one with this problem. Basically, you tap the screen, and the screen goes grey while the controls pop up and the video plays in the background. To rewind and ffd, you drag your finger anywhere on the screen. The place where you end up in the video is relative to where you drag your finger; if your finger is 1/4 of your screen’s length from the left of the screen, you skip to the point 1/4 of the way into the video. To get out of “grey screen” mode you tap the screen without dragging. The “dragging” is so sensitive that at some point you’ll “drag” when you meant to “tap” and you end up in a completely different part of the video. If you don’t have the fastest internet in the world, this means watching a spinning wheel for an eternity until the video starts in the new place, then trying to find where you were previously, cue the spinning wheel again, be forced to watch some commercials, and so on. This is so frustrating that it’s worth giving this app a one-star review. At least the new app looks pretty. I guess.

Tldr: the hitbox for the scroll bar signifying where you are in the show is too large. Please reduce that so The show doesn't keep accidentally getting restarted. Ok so unlike most other people I actually like the direction you're going in. The layout changes I'm pretty indifferent about but you changed it so that I could pause it and then be able to actually look at the frame I paused at. Before that was changed that was pretty much my only issue. And then you even improved the pause screen a bit with the skip and rewind 10 seconds. I also liked that. Now here's my problem and this is really the only thing that has stood out to me. I'm gonna explain it as a story. So I pause what I'm watching for whatever reason. Eventually I unpause it. I don't want to wait for the screen to change on its own so I tap the screen at the middle of the edge of the screen. As a reference it's right next to the home button. All of a sudden I'm at 0:00 and I've just restarted what I'm watching even though I clicked nowhere near the actual bar signifying the time of the show. Plz fix that is all I really ask.
Change fast forward/rewind

After the update where they changed the layout and how you can skip ahead/go back in an episode, I figured it wasn’t too shabby and I could adapt. Unfortunately, the new way of fast forwarding/rewinding an episode leaves me frequently open to accidentally skipping around. Frequently, I’ll try to pause, and I’ll accidentally skip or go back to the Middle of an episode, because it thinks I’m dragging my finger. Same goes for if I’m trying to skip forward or back ten seconds. Which means, watching another set of commercials again for something I didn’t even want to do in the first place. It is exceedingly frustrating. PLEASE PLEASE change it back/make it more user friendly! I can’t be the only one having this problem. On the bright side, I do like that it FINALLY acknowledges that I’ve finished watching an episode when I stop it after the credits roll vs thinking I haven’t completed it because there are like 20 seconds left. It made my home screen very jumbled and was difficult to tell what I actually hadn’t watched. It’s not perfect, though, as it doesn’t correlate as well when I’m switching to watch it on my computer.

I used to be able to record my favorite shows and it would only show MY shows in the “my shows” section. But for some reason, ever since they went to this new look on the app, the section that’s marked “my shows”, has my shows and every thing else it thinks I might like but I DON’T! And the worst part is that you can’t get rid of things that are showing up in the my shows section. So now I have to filter through tens of hundreds of shows just to find my shoes. And it doesn’t always update UNWATCHED status on my shows. And occasionally I will have an watch shows that are towards the middle or the bottom of all these other shows that are NOT my shows! My solution? I would suggest that anything that is in the “my shows” section are actually my shows. And I am able to delete things out of it that are NOT my shows!!! Having said that, although it is a complete pain and I often times end up watching shows back to back weeks later because I didn’t know they were there, it is still better than my DIRECTV app!
Great App

I’m not sure why this app is so lowly rated. I think the app is great. I like the look of the app. It works great, and great quality. I have the iPad Pro (10.5”), which obviously, has picture-in-picture mode capability. When I try to use PiP™️ mode, the video stops and takes almost forever to play, which is my biggest complaint. I know that it’s this app and not my device or other apps because other apps doesn’t have this problem. The second problem, and it equals out my first complaint, is the “Lineup” and “Keep Watching”, sometimes I fall asleep and auto-play would play shows I have no interest in watching or I just absolutely don’t want to watch but it plays the shows anyways so it shows up in the “Lineup” and “Keep Watching” list; I wish we could remove shows from both menus especially from “Keep Watching”. Those two are my biggest issues and the ones that really get on my nerves. If you fix those two issues I think this app would be perfect!! Fix these two issues!

At first it was running fine a little trouble shooting but lately it’s been doing a lot of troubleshooting where I can’t even play a program that I want to see or a movie and it’s really frustrating when your paying for something and you can’t even enjoy it. There has been several times when the pictures don’t even pop up so you can’t even see what options you have or when the movie or program you what to see doesn’t even play due to trouble shooting. it is disappointing because there’s not many options to choose from and there’s nothing you can do about it when you’re just too tired to have to call it in all the time especially when your a single parent with stage 3 1/2 congested heart failure and had a long day coming home from several Dr appointments. It Would also be nice if they could please be more accurate when putting the new episodes in “my stuff” because I always have to go into “my stuff” go through the my saved programs and then go to the episodes scroll down to find out if there is a new episode for the week. Thank you so much and advance!
Bad experience with app tech nazis

Tried to set up the app on my phone and ipad. Apparently you only ever get one shot at importing your watchlist from an older roku and even if you tell it to do that, it won't do it and it can't be fixed. You also only ever get one shot at setting your preferences, too, cause that's never gonna change. I also found the app kinda confusing to navigate and use otherwise. The graphics are real pretty, so guess they wanted it to look nice more than make it useable and functional or even flexible. You can see stuff any way you want as long as it’s their way and you watch what they want you to see. Also, search function only searches movie titles, so if you're looking for a tv show by title, gonna have a hard time. Can't remove categories like Korean Drama or Food network, which not being a korean speaker who is seriously into food porn, I have no interest in. Probably gonna delete, cause I really don’t need more frustration in my life and don't get why every update has to mean hours of screwing around with something to figure it out and get it useable again. Bad design is one thing, flat out mean design is another.

This app, in all of its device forms, is trying to be pretty to cover up some ridiculous issues. It does not like inactivity so if you’re done watching for the moment, you’ll have to close it down and reopen it to watch again. There is no quick “reload” button either. And you had better hope it doesn’t experience issues “loading your lineup” too. Speaking of lineup, they’re constantly trying to push the major network shows despite the fact I haven’t watched any of them. Oh and your comments like “oops something went wrong” - just stop it. Make it work, don’t try to be cute. Netflix is perfecting their “intro skip” feature and you can’t even make a “go to next episode” feature work. Half the time I’m seconds from the end of a show and I go back to the menu screen only to find “resume episode” waiting for me instead of “watch next episode”. You have some serious work to do on the most basic of app-based streaming features. Don’t redo your skin to make it pretty if you can’t make it do these basic things. Basic features first then you can get pretty. It needs to be functional above all else.

The new design looks nice enough, I suppose. But, it appears that PIP has been removed? Seriously? Am I just missing it? WHY would you launch a redesign without this? It's TV - I don't generally stayed completely glued to most programs; I usually put a show in PIP so that I can do multiple things. You know, like A LOT of people have historically watched TV - while doing other things. I'm absolutely baffled that you would take something away that's so basic and then tout how much better the new app is. I don't usually write reviews but I had to for this - VERY poorly thought out. Please address so I can continue to feel good about paying for this service (including the additional charge for ad removal no less). I have been a fan for so long! UPDATE 21-OCT-17: Thank you very much for bringing back PIP. I was definitely using the app less often while this feature was missing, and I really value its return. I’ve updated my rating.

The execution on the update that brought it was horrible. If I press the Home button on my device, it will shrink the video screen down like one would expect for PIP, and leave it playing in a cute little box in the corner while you do other things on your device. I loved it right away. That is, until I discovered the mini screen *might* show the controls when you tap it, but more than likely a tap won’t give any reaction at all. Open the app in full and PIP will still be going (more often just the sound of it), but the rest of the app doesn’t respond at all, meaning I have to completely close down the app to do something as simple as respond to a text message. As for the FF/RW part everyone else is griping about, I can live with it. It’s not as bad as they make it out to be. My main concern is the lack of functionality regarding the PIP feature. Please get this one fixed! It’s a great concept, it just needs a little push to be great and get my rating to 5!

My biggest gripe with the app is that you can only have two people watch at once, unlike other apps I use. We use this app a lot, but don’t like the limitations for viewing. I now have an iPad and love to use the ap on it, but discovered not all of the shows I watch literally on any other device appear on the app for iPad. They appear on the iPhone and my smart TV. The shows are listed in “My Stuff” on those apps, but don’t appear anywhere on the app for iPad. In fact, they don’t appear at all if I perform a search. Up until a few minutes ago I could watch them ( if started on another device) by going to “Keep Watching” .... but would have to control where I was with a show using an app on another device ( eg watching an episode again would require going to the iPhone, starting the show, stopping it and then picking it up on the iPad). Sadly, that’s now gone because “Upcoming” has replaced “Keep Watching” so I have to finish binge watching on another device. Why the huge discrepancy in performance? I
Poor design, poor algorithms, poor app

Besides the app only sporadically working properly on my iPad (maybe 6/10 times?), the new setup and interface is just awful. Forget browsing through all of the available titles, here are about 6 TV shows and movies we will show you over and over again because you watched that one thing that one time. As far as I can tell, there is no longer a way to just view a list of everything on this app. I have to use an external third party website to get an idea of what there is to watch. I hate my recommendations, and even if they were based on a better algorithm, I want to choose what to watch myself. Watchlists? Forget about it. “Save something for later” now apparently means “I like this thing, show me more stuff like this”. That is not helpful, nor is it realistic considering people can like a wide variety of genres and specific television shows and movies. The “browse” feature is an illusion of choice, and this is quite clear in the way the new design shows quite literally one television show or movie on one full page.
Voiceover accessibility is gone for visually impaired users.

As of the current version of this app, it is completely inaccessible while using voice over, After a certain point. I've tested this app on several devices running voiceover with the same results. I'm pretty sure that this has something to do with the so-called new and better user interface. However, the new interface does not work with voiceover, making it virtually impossible for me to use both the app and this service when I'm not tethered to my computer. I used to be able to use this app with no issues along with a few small workarounds, but now I can't use it at all. I can sign in and search for shows and movies, but that's about it. Then after clicking the search button, I am unable to view my results if any. Then, when I actually do manage to find something that I can click with voiceover, voiceover then gets hung on the Clock area which is found on the top of the screen. If the issue with voiceover and this app could be fixed, that would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Terrible User Interface from iPhone

The UI is not user friendly. Seems there wasn’t any thorough quality assurance done on the app or at least from the iPhone device. Why am I allowed to play and watch something from my iPhone while also casting to my television at the same time? When this happens I lose my ability to control the television’s stream including rewind, fast forward and play/pause. Additionally it’s difficult to easily resume a show. When I come back to a show and click play, it often automatically gets me to play the next episode of a series instead of continuing to watch an episode I had not completed yet. Additionally, I hate that it logs me out of the app on my iPhone often. I understand if it’s maybe due to a software or application update but it doesn’t seem to be the case. Mind you my iPhone is up to date on its software. Please take notes from Netflix as they have mastered their user experience from the iPhone if one had to compare it against Hulu’s.

Pretty good app but you need the premium subscription to enjoy it if you don’t want the rewind/fastforward function to not cause to watch commercials. People are saying it’s not user friendly but I don’t see that at all. I’ve never had a problem with crashing, the app not opening, or the app not loading properly. Whenever I’m in a location with poor service, the app still loads all the show selections and I can still watch it without constant buffering like the Netflix app. It also looks sleek and not so plain like Netflix. I honestly loved the new overhaul update and when it first came the rwd/ffd would go whenever you touched the screen but now you have to tap the screen to do that function. So, in my mind the problem was fixed. I love the app, people just need to cool it.

When I go into the app I don’t like the way it’s set up compared to how it’s used to. I am actually considering cancelling my subscription and just sticking to Netflix because of how horrible it is. I can’t even find a huge selection of shows or movies because it shows one movie or show on the whole screen and I don’t like it that way at all. I love the way netflix is set up and I’d prefer it to be similar to that. I also don’t like the touch sensitive feature. When I watch a tv show i click the screen a lot to look at times or just because.. and it skips me all the way to a random spot and then I have to find where I was before which is SUPER annoying. Like I’ll give it one more month but after that I’m cancelling. Also recently there has been a green screen every time I try to watch my show. And it freezes and skips. I’m watching it now and I cant even see it working properly.. please fix or I will cancel my subscription. I am no longer happy and you guys will lose a ton of business because of these issues

Here’s a new fun problem! When watching a show I get a phone call- on my phone- & answer it. Does the show stop playing? NOPE! So now I’m trying to talk to my doctor while the audio of the program I was watching still plays on my phone. Awesome! How dare I use my phone as a phone, right? Anyway, thank you for finally fixing the most poorly designed video viewing player ever. It is nice that I now have to hold the play button down on the screen to skip ahead in a show. Before if I would pick up my phone, accidentally bump it, etc, it would change the place in the program. Always loved spending an extra 10 minutes trying to figure out where I was in the movie (spoiler alert?) all because I touched my phone screen by accident while holding it. Seriously, does anyone actually test out these new features before you roll them out & unleash them on your customers?! After each new update I worry about what new fresh hell it will bring.

I hate that now every time I flip my screen to fullscreen on my phone, that I can’t see the time and charge of it. I think it’s absolutely a hassle and a pain to have to exit full screen just to see the time/battery life. I also hate that every single time I leave full screen, when I re-enter the app, I have to manually flip it back to full screen. I liked the old format MUCH better. While I like to be able to fast forward, I think the best set up for streaming apps is Prime Video. You can see the time and charge just by touching the screen, my time in the show doesn’t change with just the slightest touch, and every time I leave the app, I can re open it and it’ll either play on its own or just still be on full screen and I don’t have to manually make it that way. Whoever is doing your updates right now should be demoted and you should get someone in there who actually streams things regularly so they know what is best. Hoping these minor issues can be fixed and your app format gets better!!
New interface is less user friendly

I don’t understand cosmetic changes that (a) compromise function and (b) add more clicks to do the same thing we were able to do before but was easier. I’ve been giving the new interface a chance as I understand anything new can take a while to get used to it but after roughly 4 weeks of daily use I can say the new UI is just frustrating. I don’t even understand the algorithm used to order/sort the shows you watch on “my stuff” area. I find myself searching around for my favorite shows. Often times I find that the “new episode” indicator doesn’t show at all in the my stuff area. So I no longer can just look at a glance to see which of my shows have new episodes. I have to click on the show and you better click on the go to the show details or else the show just starts playing. I just wNt to see if there’s a new episode since you didn’t show it to me! So go back, click on the right link and now you can see that indeed you had new episodes waiting. Then there’s the issue of lack of sync if you view on different devices. Watch on a tablet a show? Go back to a laptop the next day, the same show you watched 5he night before is not marked as watched. Moreover, add a show to your stuff on your laptop , it doesn’t show on your iPad. You must add it there, yes, I’m using the same account and profile. I could go on but this is enough. Why change a good thing for the worse? SMH in frustration.
An Affront to the Art of User Interface Design

To describe Hulu’s new user interface as torturous barely scratches the surface. Touching the screen to access the player controls causes the entire image to be obscured. The controls remain on the screen for several seconds after playback resumes, leading the user to touch the screen in an attempt to make them go away (so the video can be viewed); this usually results in changing the position of the “playhead” or “timeline” control, skipping to some other random part of the program. There is simply no excuse for this poor of a design. But at least Library navigation is utterly bewildering, indicating the developers are fully committed to making the app unusable in any respect. Airplay support has also been removed, which is simply hateful.

TLDR: App is meh. Annoying to use. Service keeps charging me even though I've canceled twice. Customer service is swamped or just won't respond. Won't use app or even service anymore. The primary reason for me leaving a review is the service itself, to be honest. To begin with, I started the free trial to test the service. I wasn't completely sold, so I canceled. At the end of the trial, I was charged anyway. I was still watching, so I tried to contact customer support, but couldn't and ignored the issue to watch for a month. (I canceled again) There were a couple of shows I wanted to watch and I finished one. I actually reached a point in the second where neither the app or the website would let me continue, even though they had further episodes listed. At that point, I lost interest. The website gave me two extra weeks as a "hate to see you go". After the two weeks, I was charged again! I have tried to contact customer service through their chat and phone lines 4 separate days, now. I have no desire to use the service, and the app is not very good. It's very easy to accidentally jump backwards or forwards in the show. I've had to rewatch several ads in a row when I jump back or forward in the points where ads are played. If I watch them once, don't make me watch them again! And fix the scroll bar so it's harder to change your spot in the show.

The new update is not great - I want to like it, I see what they were going for - but i keep managing to hit the bar making the show jump almost to the end or back to the beginning. I personally liked being able to have more information/shows on the screen at once versus one show taking up the entire screen. It's just very very annoying - more sleek and cool...but not functional/practical. Update after using it some more -- still feel exactly the same way, the shows I frequently watch aren't on the main page, I have to search for those each time. There's no summary for the shows so when I want to figure out if I've seen an episode or not I just have to watch part of it to find out which is super annoying. Some how still managing to hit the bar to make it jump super far ahead/back. I want to like the updates, bc like I said I see what they were going for, but it's just 100% annoying
Good service, but crappy app UI

Love the service - subscribed since it started, just about, and have had great experiences with customer service when I’ve had to talk to them. But the app is terrible. To get to the show I want on my iPad: open the app. Select “my stuff.” Scroll to the show. Select the show with the new episode, which has randomly moved the middle of the list. Select the show, then click episodes because (for some reason) it has season 1 episode 1 as the next episode instead of last night’s. Scroll through the episode list, select the new one. Then, it opens into a tiny square in the corner of my iPad. Wait until it starts playing, then click on the episode and select the full screen option. That’s a lot of clicking. Who the heck would want that little tiny episode view? I don’t need a list of the rest of the episodes and related shows. I just want to watch last night’s show. When I’m done, give me the list. Not when I’m starting. It’s annoying af.

Many dislike the new interface, as do I. It is not user friendly. Takes forever to find new shows as instead of using a Netflix-esc interface, it displays 1 show at a time. But that is not the main reason I am writing this review. For some reason, when you are watching a tv series, the next episode that auto plays automatically turns on subtitles, despite having the setting off both in app and in phone settings. This used to not be too bad, as you could just pull up the settings and re-turn it off. Now, you can’t even do that. So you have to stop watching to turn captions off. This is incredibly annoying since I don’t need nor want them on. Also, multiple ads from Showtime drop the F-bomb. I really don’t appreciate that. You should screen your ads better so this doesn't play on more shows kids are watching. I will be calling your offices to make a complaint.

This app was never great; it was slow, clunky, and sometimes froze the picture only to keep playing the audio. But I try and get on to watch a show this afternoon, not 2 hours after I watched the previous episode, and it refuses to load. It kept coming up with an error message telling me to try again. I think: hey, maybe there is an update out that will fix this? And maybe it'll fix the bugs in it too! Well I download the update, and it's even worse. It didn't come up with the error message right off the bat so I thought it was all fixed. But I was so busy with my dogs that I didn't realize that 10 minutes have gone by of that same black loading screen with the swirling lines of death. It simply refuses to load. To be fair I did check other shows and some others did work (for instance Rick and Morty) but several others didn't (for instance Lucifer). Im paying my monthly dues to this company, the absolute least they could do is make the shows ACCESSIBLE.

If you're going to improve design, make sure you improve functionality as wells It looks better than the last version, but small things like increasing the hit slop of buttons and making modals less transparent would go a long way to improving UI. If you're rewatching a series, sometimes the 'next episode' start at the end of the next episode, which is incredibly annoying, if you accidentally touch the (giant) scrub-navigation bar you're screwed if you want to try to find the last location you were at, and while the chrome cast integration works better than the last version, it still only works about 50% of the time when you reopen the app. Generally you need to swipe-close the app on iOS and reopen to get it to reconnect to a running chromecast again, which is a bit obnoxious.

ive been reading the reviews and it seems like everyone else is having the same problem with the stupid rewind/fast forward function. i accidentally skip back/ahead and end up having to watch a stupid ad THAT I HAVE ALREADY WATCHED/WILL END UP HAVING TO WATCH AGAIN just because your developers don't know how to make a working skip function. i have the netflix app and have never had this problem. you should make it so once you watch an ad, that ad disappears so even if you accidentally skip you don't have to rewatch the ads. also i watch a lot of anime with subtitles and whoever does the closed captioning does a pretty lousy job, whether its mispronunciations of words (half the time they are ENGLISH words that are misspelled) or just simply putting the wrong words where they shouldnt be. this needs to be fixed, made evident by the fact that this has an average 2 STAR RATING!
New app design terrible

I don't normally take time out day to simply bash apps on iTunes but this new app redesign was so freaking terrible I couldn't get the bad taste out of my mouth so here I am. Tiles really guys seriously and not just tiles poor and restrictive ways to view shows I can't just get a bunch of small icons like before that give me optimal information no I need to thumb through every single tile to see anything well I guess the days of me discovering new shows is over because even browsing your data base is a nightmare so on my iPad Pro 12.9 I see 4 tiles at a time where as before I would see like 20 or more on my old iPad 9.7 inch this is absurd I advise if you do not want to lose people just in the settings simply add a legacy mode switch to the UI so us who aren't mouth breathing idiots can enjoy browsing your selection. Ah I feel a bit better now we'll back to struggling through your terrible UI which will most likely lead to me cancelling my subscription
Swipe to fast forward has got to gooooo

I'm the kind of person who touches their screen constantly while watching a show, whether it's to check the time or to wipe a smudge or see how far along in the show I am. With your "swipe anywhere on the screen to go forward or backwards" function, I am constantly being forced to watch and rewatch extra ads, and to try and re-find wherever I was in the show before my accidental swipe. Please consider reinstating the setup with the bar at the bottom that had the button where I had to be very intentional with my tapping in order to change location in the playing time. This will make using your platform much easier on my mental health, and on my phone that gets hurled across the room every time I shoot forward 10 minutes in an episode of The Mindy Project and get stuck with an extra 120 seconds of Chevy commercials. I beg you.

The app is amazing, I can watch all my favorite shows and movies. The only problem I have is that every time I try to watch anything, it says that there’s nothing to watch there. And I did watch like 5 seasons yet and it’s telling me that. Now here’s that thing about my issues, either it’s my mom and she’s blocking the app so it’s not Allowing me to watch it. But if that was the case, then I wouldn’t be able to get into the app at all. But once again I am not sure allowing me to watch it. But I am not sure, and if that is not the case, hey my mom and she’s block the app. Then I have no complaints, but if not that is my only complaint. In conclusion, without my problems. This app is overall a five-star.

I don’t write reviews but enough is enough. Please back to the old interface but this one is horrible. FF/RW, HORRIBLE! Whenever I “start watching” a show like Will and Grace, I’ll watch two or three episode and I’ll close the app. When I go back in to pick up where I left off, not only is the show not at the top of my stuff (it’s at the bottom) but it doesn’t save my progress, so I don’t know with episode to start with... The updates are ruining this app... The app was working fine until y’all started “fixing” it. AND ANOTHER THING, sometimes the next episode won’t play unless I come completely out of the show and go back in and then I have to remember which episode it is... I see all of these reviews that go back months, why are we still having these same issues months later... I like your service but will not continue to pay for a service that has been jinky for MONTHS, not days or weeks but MONTHS. PLEASE DO BETTER!

Every time I try to open the app on my phone, it says "something is wrong: try again." Extremely frustrating. I've tried reinstalling and updating it, and it's the same problem. It won't work. Update: the previous problem has gone away, but with the new update, I accidentally fast forward my show probably about ten times in each sitting somehow. Its extremely easy to do. I end up watching extra commercials because of this, and then when I try to find my spot again, I have to sit through a second set of commercials if I click multiple times looking for the right scene. It adds a LOT of commercials to my viewing time. I also have similar concerns to others reviews, as it used to be easy to find my shows and find new things I'd be interested in, but now it's not as intuitive, and it's more difficult to quickly find things.
Terrible forward and rewind functionality

The latest update rolled out an upgrade to the forward and rewind tool. On the surface it seems like a lot of fun and simple to use, but in practice the new tool is a nightmare. It is incredibly easy to accidentally rewind to the beginning or end of the show simply by tapping the screen when it's gone dark or trying to pull up details on the next episode. You can correct your mistake either because it immediately sends you back into a 60-90 second commercial break that locks the forward / rewind tool. Once you've finished the break and can go back to your place, you have to watch another 60-90 second commercial break to return to your original placement. It's so incredibly frustrating I gave up and went back to the desktop experience. This tool needs more testing and revisions so it's not so easy to trigger.
Inconsistency

There is this odd occurrence whenever I use this app and I usually run into a few problems: 1) Sometimes the next episode doesn’t play. It fails to load even if I am connected to the internet, am the only one watching, and have it all paid for. 2) Sometimes, even with good connection, the app doesn’t load up anything. It’ll open but every single tab says there is nothing to see here. 3) In the same vein as failure to load following episodes, there are times where I can’t even watch a completely different show. I could let the inconsistency of following episodes in a series fail to load slide, only a small bit though, but, when I can’t watch anything else for some reason? All of a sudden nothing is watchable? In closing, either shows don’t load or the entire app doesn’t work properly. Inconsistency, sometimes it works really well and then the other half of the time it doesn’t work at all. I have deleted and reinstalled, I have turned off and restarted my phone, I have closed and restarted the app but it still has the same problem. I just end up not watching anything for a bit and do something else; which is great, although, if getting me to do something else was the goal, why pay for an inconsistent service at all?

The constant changes to the layout just screams lack of confidence in the product and makes it very difficult to navigate. Please do something about the subpar subtitles do you actually watch and listen to the stories or are you just writing what you want. Fast forwarding and rewinding needs to be adjusted there’s nothing more frustrating then that suspenseful reveal that rolls right into commercial and you try to roll back a few seconds but have to watch another set of commercials. Very frustrating when you have to stop your device mid show only to come back to your place not saved and your going back and forth in the time line to find your spot only to have to watch two to three sets of commercials (I get that this service includes commercials but it’s the navigation that’s frustrating). Don’t be racist the stereotyping and picking what commercials you think I should watch is insulting.
Apply TV app is horrendous

I honestly don’t even know where to begin. All the complaints below apply to the Apple TV app as that is the primary way I use it, and I can’t speak to the iPhone / iPad versions. Half the time clicking on a title does nothing, especially in the “up next” pop up when an episode ends, and if you let the timer run down it replays the episode you just watched instead of skipping to the next one. Half the time when you do play an episode either the sound is a second off from the video (only fix is force quitting the app). Also have had the video appear not the play, click to play again and now two streams of the same episode are playing (one on top of the other) resulting in double audio - and the only fix is force quitting the app. I swear half of the time I use this app it is force quitting the app and waiting for it to reload. Navigation is a HOT mess. Where are the simple badges saying which shows have a new episode available? Why is the “my stuff” category not available to filter by new episodes available? Why do I need to wait for the app to “fetch new recommendations” every single time I open it up? I love love LOVE hulu’s service, and in the past the app has been very solid. However once this redesign rolled out I feel like the quality / reliability of the app has greatly suffered.

I do not like the user interface set up all that much. For example, let’s say I just watched a series. I close app then re-open it at a later time. I expect to have that series somewhere on my dashboard but it’s not. In fact I typically have to retype it in the search box just to find it again. Second, I’m watching a show and I click to go to new episode; however, the GUI is gone! No play, backwards, forward, pause, scroll bar...nothing but an “X.” I contacted IT support and they didn’t know anything. So, it’s typical that I’ll have to refresh the page or log out and log in five to fifteen times over a few hours. But, in the end for the price and volume of shows it’s worth putting up with the glitches.
Can’t play in background

I’m not going to say the new update is terrible because I honestly don’t think it is. I however have been annoyed at the fact that the tv shows can not be played in the background on the device. Normally people will listen to music as they use their device. However, for me that is tv shows. Because I have watched this particular show so much I don’t need to physically see it anymore, I have it playing in the background. Like another reviewer said, no one should be expected to stay glued to a show for an extended amount of time. That user wanted PIP and his PIP was revived. Last night even I was able to play in the background starting Saturday the 18th and ending the 19th. Please bring this back or install it if what I was experiencing was a bug. Thank you for you time.
Great live TV, not the best navigation

It’s a bulky interface that requires too many clicks to achieve what your looking for. This has been a great alternative to Cable, and we’re happy with the quality of streaming, but the guide and actions are not very simple. Would be easier if there are options to go straight to live TV at startup rather than having to go from main menu every time. Better sorting options for the guide would be nice too, like maybe having a favorites sections. They have “news” and “sports” channel guides, but often times they leave off channels that it might not deem in those categories, even if it is. Just needs a little refining for a better experience, but overall it’s better than paying for cable.

I'm very disappointed with the fact that almost all the shows you have never finish the show. They're always missing seasons unless it's a 1/2 season show! This is very dumb not only because we cannot finish our show BUT shouldn't all those ads you put in the middle of our shows make you enough money to give us a full series??!!!! This is very annoying. For example one of my shows had to end on an episode where there is still so much story to be told, but I could not experience this show because of this terrible idea. This is ABSOLUETLY outrageous considering we're supposed to be able to "catch up on all our favorite shows". This slogan is a HUGE LIE. If you want an app where you can stop watching in the middle of a plot on a show BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T SPEND SOME OF ALL THAT MONEY THEY MAKE GIVING US SOME GOSH DARN ENDINGS TO FINISH OUR SHOWS!!!!!😡

Besides everyone’s concern about the sensitivity on the rewind and forward, which I agree is soooooo frustrating, I just got the iPhone X and some shows don’t take up the full screen of the phone which is the whole point of the phone! The shows need to expand through the whole screen. also it would be very helpful if they could but the time as well on the iPhone 7 when you tapped of the screen you would see the time come down and now I have to click out of the app to see what time it is and that’s frustrating as well... I know it’s a process and you’re trying i hope my suggestions help!

Firstly, it’s 5 to try and help weigh in against all the people who complained about losing HDMI because it’s been fixed. And on that note thank god the HDMI lightning connector works again. There was no way I was gonna budge and spring for additional technology when I’m broke A/F all the time. The overall selection seems to be getting more bunk. Maybe start adopting shows like The Last Man on Earth as Netflix has done with Arrested Development for example. That being said I still find shows on here worth the amount I pay for the subscription. Smoothish transitions from episode to episode. I think the forward / backward 10 and 30 seconds is odd I’m used to the 1:1 that most video players use. Lastly I think the selection screen - at least on a mobile device - is too large and requires too much scrolling. Again comparing to Netflix, while browsing you can view several show title cards and multiple categories at once. For the regular streamers that’s great when I’m trying to just generally peruse highlighted shows.

It does have some good stuff but if you want to watch literally like any action movie such as any Marvel movie, it's gonna say "unlocked with live tv" or "unlocked with stars TV" live TV is 40 dollars a month. Completely overpriced and absurd. It's good for basic movies, but not the best choice.

Customer services is horrible to start off with. They hang up and are very short and careless through live chat and over the phone. Instead of helping they chuckle at a customers concerns. Def not appropriate for a family with CHILDREN. Couldn’t watch anything without a commercial of girls half naked talking about being strippers or other inappropriate commercials along that line. Going back to Netflix!! Waste of money plus they don’t have a wide variety of things to watch.

Hulu has a lot of good entertainment options but the way that the show jumps around every time I accidentally tap the screen almost makes the app not worth using. It is especially frustrating when it accidentally rewinds and when I try to move it back to the right spot, I have to rewatch the commercials that I already sat through.

While Hulu has a good selection of movies and shows, I won’t be using them anymore. Live TV is terrible and freezes constantly during games like the World Series and Super Bowl. I paid for no commercials on top of my costly subscription and yet I still get commercials often when watching movies. Also, those commercials are almost twice as loud as the volume of the movies so you have to constantly adjust the volume. That’s just insulting to their subscribers. They need to put the subscribes before their attempts to make more money off a ridiculous amount of ads.

In this current version I have had several issues with my account saying that I have too many devices playing to many things at once. I am currently the only person using this account. I have tried deleting the app then downloading it, I’ve tried resetting the Chromecast I use as well. It won’t let me watch videos. Please fix this 😣

When I’m watching a show, it skips anytime my hand touches the screen. The swipe to fast forward/rewind feature seems like a good idea, but the functionality is flawed. I spend a few minutes of each episode trying to figure out where I was.

While casting to Chromecast, the alarm clock volume, ringer volume, various videos in apps (Facebook etc) all stop working properly. This does not happen in other apps with casting abilities. Can this get resolved or at least give us the option to not link the volume outside of the app?

I don’t know if it’s only happening to me but every time that I’ve tried downloading Hulu and subscribing it takes for ever to load. It doesn’t even let me see what’s available to watch or anything it just keeps loading and loading.. it’s happened to me twice already. This really is upsetting. I hope this problem gets fixed soon.

Some videos, you finish them, but Hulu promise your home screen for some episode that happened long ago. If you have a few seconds left of any video, there’s no way to tell the app that you’ve already finished watching it. It just keeps sending you back to that video! It’s really annoying! And no one at Hulu fix this. And please mix up the commercials. I just saw the same credit card commercial three times on the same episode.

This app is about the dumbest most stupidest app I’ve ever had, like seriously! First on my computer when I have the subtitles on, a box appears with it blocking half the screen for over a month! Then they update the app which FINALLY fixes that issue, but every time I rewind 1 second back after an ad plays( because I missed something in the show) I have to watch ads ALL OVER AGAIN like dude I watched the fricken ad I shouldn’t have to rewatch it! Anyways I’m about done with Hulu it’s basically become impossible to watch from my phone, I enjoyed it over netflix because of the older shows they have, but honestly it’s not worth it. Back to Netflix I go!

When I open the hulu app, the new episodes show up in my stuff but when I click on it to watch it, it pulls up the show’s page and says there is no content. I just want to watch the new Grey’s Anatomy episode (which shows up when on the home page) but when I click on the show it says there are 0 episodes available😩

Movie and TV series selections are a little week. Also the Apple TV app lags quite a bit. Have to do mirroring to stop the stuttering. The mobile app is very smooth. I just was expecting a better selection of shows and movies.

So I recently decided to get rid of my long time service of Netflix and make the switch to Hulu. And I couldn’t be happier. There’s so many good shows. And a lot of great anime. It would be cool if more of the anime’s had dubs but other than that it’s so much better than Netflix.

To start off, everything was going great; As far as creating an account, and getting my card information .. I didn’t get an email from Hulu about setting up my account, however, I did get an email from Apple about my subscription being successful. I tried logging in and it says my “password and email don’t match.” I tried using the reset password link to reset my password. It’s been almost an hour, after 2 attempts of waiting on the reset password link, I still haven’t received an email. This is not a great experience to start with.

I love Hulu when it’s operational and functioning. The playback is often an issue on my iPad, error messages pop up, accessing shows is confusing at first until one notices the top tabs and the list of seasons for certain shows are wrong further confusing the viewer (I.e. Intervention seasons have the wrong content so Season 15 videos are posted under Season 14), not all seasons are broadcast and/or shows are not available.

Tried logging in and starting a free trial just to watch the newest episode of greys anatomy and it wasn’t working on my laptop. Every time I clicked “start free trial” the website would crash and say error. So I downloaded the app on my phone and it said I started my free trial and my iTunes account would be charged in one month after the trial ends. Now I can’t log in at all. I really just want to cancel everything but I can’t log in at all to cancel it. Going to be pretty mad if my iTunes gets charged for something I can’t even use because the website/app doesn’t work.

During my time using this application for 9+ hours a day at work I can say I’m extremely disappointed with the update. I was able to play these videos in the background without having my phone die because I would lock the phone while working and I could just listen to this in the background. Granted, I’m sure that many people didn’t know how to do this. But this is a feature I’d like back. Or at least be able to downgrade to previous versions of this application.

I hate the new version of this app! It’s so not user friendly, I have nothing to show me when there’s new episodes of the shows I watch, unless I go digging. I miss being able to see clearly first thing when I open the app shows I watch and what has a new episode. I struggle to find anything and my child can’t use it at all anymore without me fully setting up which is also quite frustrating. Please bring back a simpler version!!

I’m honestly so sick of the way Hulu does it’s commercials. Like you $43/mo and you get the same endless commercials as with the any other live tv station, but here’s the problem, its the same ones playing over and over again, every show I watch there got 3-5 different commercials and they keep playing them for the entire show it really drives me nuts. I’m switching to DTV now and at least they let you record and skip the commercials. I will never do business with Hulu ever again.

What I’m upset about is that they skip like a Season or 3! In some shoes like little women LA there is season 1,5 and 6 that doesn’t even make sense because if I am just watching season 1 and then it goes to season 5! Hulu is amazing and I have had it for like 5 years now and the only problem I’ve ever had is that it pauses but that is completely fixed now. It’s so easy to use and has all my favorite shows and movies!

It would be great but it seems to have to buffer a lot...even when I have fiber optics with 1 Gig download and 1 Gig up... Not cool when you trying to experience a movie and it’s sound effects then all a sudden...buffering... live tv definitely has buffering issues and lower quality playback.

HULUPLUS with cloud dvr still has a lot if bugs in it, but having used it for two months now, I am happy. But what this needs desperately is a cable/satellite TV on-screen program guide, one that allows viewers to see programing for two or more weeks. The current guide that shows only the current program and the next up is totally useless. For a dvr to be useful, the viewer should be able to see and schedule upcoming programming. I pay extra for this feature and yet I feel I have to go to outside sources to keep ahead of programs I may want to see. It is also annoying that recorded programs often cut off about thirty seconds than they should. All recordings seem to start one minute ahead of the scheduled begin time, so techs could easily add a minute after the recording as well.

It’s too expensive at this time to enjoy it, right now in my life. I’ve been trying to get my trial end date information but I can’t find it? I need to find out when the last day of my free trial is so I can cancel. Today I didn’t like that it took forever to load and I’m afraid if I could afford it that the Hulu would continue to take forever and I’m not in a place where I can give much time to waiting.

I finally got use to the update a while back that was so terrible. The feedback from the masses said it wasn’t friendly. And it’s NOT. The newest update has too many taps. Example watch next episode brings up more choices and to watch it in full view you have to tap 2 more times. Many other places. Please ask your users for feed back before making more changes that don’t make sense.

First off the app’s performance has improved with new updates. Thank you....BUT. I hate the new home screen. I don’t want to scroll thru a bunch of screens to find the latest new episodes of my favorite shows. Scrolling takes time. I liked the old view (where many different shows were shown at once. )better. One show per page is poor use of screen space. Please change back or give settings options.

First off I am no longer having issues with the show jumping to a new position every time i touch the screen so thank you for fixing that. The problem I am now dealing with is that after watching the second and third commercials in an episode, the play bar will jump to right after the first commercial, causing me to have to move it back to where it was and making me watch the same commercials a second time. An easy solution for you would be to select about 30 seconds to 2 minuets worth of commercials per regular episode, which is about 25 minuets or so, and playing immediately before the episode begins or half way through, clearly multiple commercials is too difficult to maintain, causes the episode to lag due to constantly having to switch between loading the show and a commercial series, and quiet frankly i believe your customers would much prefer to get the commercials over with quickly. In addition to this im not really sure why you need to have so many commercials anyway, given that we, the customers, pay continually for these services, but another solution might be to simply add a package where the costumers could pay a little more money annually and opt out of having to deal with commercials at all. I would certainly pay more for this. In any case whatever you choose to do, please fix this glitch with your app and thank you also for taking the time to read my complaint.

I was hoping that when I did the new update that would change the fast forward and rewind but it didn’t unfortunately! Very inconvenient being in the middle of watching a show and going to pause then by accident you hit the screen wrong; rewinding or fast forwarding when you didn’t even want too, then having to watch the commercials all over again! I use to love this app. Been watching Netflix more lately cause I keep getting frustrated, of having to rewatch commercials over and over just to get to the part of the show where I was actually watching. My captions have not been working either for some reason?? Hopefully this fast forward/rewind gets changed, at least it’s just not me having the same problem. I don’t want to cancel but if it doesn’t change I just might.👎🏽😕 I also have been a little frustrated because my son is autistic and he loved the kidsongs videos. This was one of the only places I could find it and it was taken off; which he is upset and doesn’t understand where it went. I’m not sure how the shows change or get taken off?? I was in the middle of trying to catch up on a show; which if I’m not mistaken is says in the commercials you can catch up on all your shows? I could be wrong but it’s like a tease they have them there, as you’re in the middle of watching it one day then the next with no warning whatsoever it was gone!!!🤯😳😔👎🏽 Thank you hopefully some of these issues can be resolved😇

This is the least user friendly streaming app available at the moment. I thought I could get used to how they have set my preferences up and the different tabs for the home screen, and I'm making progress there, but there's one feature I really cant stand. It makes me grit my teeth. It RUINS the experience. It's the new rewind feature. It MUST be changed. You have to tap the screen to make the rewind/fast forward/pause buttons appear, which darkens and covers the screen so you're missing whatever is happening. At that screen, you can see the time bar at the bottom, but if you touch any area of the screen that's not one the rewind/pause buttons, it recognizes it as you want to go that area of time in the show. So if I'm 40 minutes into a 45 min show but I press below to rewind button instead of exactly on it, it will jump back to minute 15. This is specifically a problem when the minute it's jumped back to is a commercial. It's just too sensitive. To be fair, it more easily goes to the exact second you want to pick up from if you are using the feature intentionally. (Still not worth it though.) Also, if I pause a show with 1-2 minutes left, it starts the show over when I try to get back to it instead of letting me finish my show. Even its been just a few minutes.

Have tried uninstalling then reinstalling. Deleting and installing again and logging in then out. Search for a show and it doesn't show up but I find the same show when scrolling through available shows so the search feature doesn't work. I cannot watch any shows, it gives me an option to browse the show, but when I try to watch any episodes the screen flickers and stays the same. When I hit the back button the screen flickers again, when I hit the back button again it goes back to original screen. It registers and creates a while new page that I have to back out of instead of letting me watch show. After his supposed new update I cannot watch anything. Tried via browser and it kept telling me to install the app that doesn't work and when I try to access support the screen flickers then stays the same again. All other apps works fine, this was using multiple different wifi networks in different locations as I was on vacation. Would give -5 stars if I could. At this point I'm paying them to get frustrated and waste my time since I can't even watch anything. Will have to try watching on my laptop when I get home, shouldn't have to and they shouldn't release a supposed improvement which is worse and doesn't even work.

I updated the app to try the live streaming feature and the platform is so difficult to work with now. There's no longer a preview when skipping to different points in a watched show, it's difficult to select episodes from a series, and on and on. Don't update! They automatically did the same thing on Roku - not user friendly at all! Want to add that now using it for a week, it's even worse than I thought. I go to play a show and accidentally skip to the beginning or end, because the button areas are so sensitive. If I click the back 10 seconds, half the time instead it moves the show to that point, because the "skip to spot in show" is active all over the screen, not just on the timed status bar, like it should be. I also end up going back to the episode list or skipping around in a show by just trying to touch the screen to get rid of the grey screen over the show (containing the play, back 10 seconds, etc buttons). You also can't always tell which episode was last watched, because it doesn't always display the "status bar" anymore, etc (and the color was changed from green to white so it's hard to see anyway)... So disappointed!!!!!!! Would rate 0 stars if possible, as this is the most backwards update ever.

Like multiple people have stated this new app have terrible features from the get go. Thankfully they fix the picture in picture after a couple of updates and I don’t know what else they’ve been updating the past couple of times and fine I’m getting used to the new interface with the terrible fast forward and rewind feature they added is horrible. If you accidentally click on the screen or even purposely click on it because you want to fast forward or rewind 10 seconds or so if you click anywhere on the screen it jumps to that point. Even the softest touch cause it to happen. If I have my iPad on my desk in my elbow touches the screen twice it’ll immediately jump to that point. You have to at least limited to only a certain part of the screen or just the bar showing time elapsed. Every single point of the screen cannot be activated by such a stupid sensitive and feature. I’m rewinding back to the beginning’s of episodes of having to pour through the stupid logos of the networksAnd then search for where I left off. I know you guys probably don’t care but this is really made the app more troublesome then I can stand it is so frustrating and happen so easily and that I can’t stand the fact that I’m paying to endure this.

i used to love this app. but its gotten absolutely annoying to have and use. First off, the new rewind / fast forward feature is IRRITATING, sometimes all i do is tap the screen to press pause it it'll rewind or fast forward way too far, and if it goes too far forward or back i have to watch a super long ad, and then have to go back to where i was and im stuck watching another long ad. Another thing that's new that is annoying as hell, is the length of the ads. ive never really had an issue with watching ads until recently. the ads are 2 - 3 minutes long every ad and theres 4 - 5 ads in every episode. i dont wanna watch 15 minutes of ads every time i watch an episode. and lastly, the closed captions. i have them turned off for every show or movie i watch. if i watch one episode of a show, the captions wont be there, and then ill put on the next episode and they'll be there and wont turn off unless i close the app and open it again. and then i have to go through that process after every episode. if i have my closed caption settings for off, they should remain that way unless i change them. please fix this.

I don’t review apps often, but I’m adding yet another bad rewiew in the hopes that with enough complaints, they’ll fix this. People have commented about the Rewind/FFD function in the overhaul of this app, and I’m glad I’m not the only one with this problem. Basically, you tap the screen, and the screen goes grey while the controls pop up and the video plays in the background. To rewind and ffd, you drag your finger anywhere on the screen. The place where you end up in the video is relative to where you drag your finger; if your finger is 1/4 of your screen’s length from the left of the screen, you skip to the point 1/4 of the way into the video. To get out of “grey screen” mode you tap the screen without dragging. The “dragging” is so sensitive that at some point you’ll “drag” when you meant to “tap” and you end up in a completely different part of the video. If you don’t have the fastest internet in the world, this means watching a spinning wheel for an eternity until the video starts in the new place, then trying to find where you were previously, cue the spinning wheel again, be forced to watch some commercials, and so on. This is so frustrating that it’s worth giving this app a one-star review. At least the new app looks pretty. I guess.

Tldr: the hitbox for the scroll bar signifying where you are in the show is too large. Please reduce that so The show doesn't keep accidentally getting restarted. Ok so unlike most other people I actually like the direction you're going in. The layout changes I'm pretty indifferent about but you changed it so that I could pause it and then be able to actually look at the frame I paused at. Before that was changed that was pretty much my only issue. And then you even improved the pause screen a bit with the skip and rewind 10 seconds. I also liked that. Now here's my problem and this is really the only thing that has stood out to me. I'm gonna explain it as a story. So I pause what I'm watching for whatever reason. Eventually I unpause it. I don't want to wait for the screen to change on its own so I tap the screen at the middle of the edge of the screen. As a reference it's right next to the home button. All of a sudden I'm at 0:00 and I've just restarted what I'm watching even though I clicked nowhere near the actual bar signifying the time of the show. Plz fix that is all I really ask.
Change fast forward/rewind

After the update where they changed the layout and how you can skip ahead/go back in an episode, I figured it wasn’t too shabby and I could adapt. Unfortunately, the new way of fast forwarding/rewinding an episode leaves me frequently open to accidentally skipping around. Frequently, I’ll try to pause, and I’ll accidentally skip or go back to the Middle of an episode, because it thinks I’m dragging my finger. Same goes for if I’m trying to skip forward or back ten seconds. Which means, watching another set of commercials again for something I didn’t even want to do in the first place. It is exceedingly frustrating. PLEASE PLEASE change it back/make it more user friendly! I can’t be the only one having this problem. On the bright side, I do like that it FINALLY acknowledges that I’ve finished watching an episode when I stop it after the credits roll vs thinking I haven’t completed it because there are like 20 seconds left. It made my home screen very jumbled and was difficult to tell what I actually hadn’t watched. It’s not perfect, though, as it doesn’t correlate as well when I’m switching to watch it on my computer.

I used to be able to record my favorite shows and it would only show MY shows in the “my shows” section. But for some reason, ever since they went to this new look on the app, the section that’s marked “my shows”, has my shows and every thing else it thinks I might like but I DON’T! And the worst part is that you can’t get rid of things that are showing up in the my shows section. So now I have to filter through tens of hundreds of shows just to find my shoes. And it doesn’t always update UNWATCHED status on my shows. And occasionally I will have an watch shows that are towards the middle or the bottom of all these other shows that are NOT my shows! My solution? I would suggest that anything that is in the “my shows” section are actually my shows. And I am able to delete things out of it that are NOT my shows!!! Having said that, although it is a complete pain and I often times end up watching shows back to back weeks later because I didn’t know they were there, it is still better than my DIRECTV app!

I’m not sure why this app is so lowly rated. I think the app is great. I like the look of the app. It works great, and great quality. I have the iPad Pro (10.5”), which obviously, has picture-in-picture mode capability. When I try to use PiP™️ mode, the video stops and takes almost forever to play, which is my biggest complaint. I know that it’s this app and not my device or other apps because other apps doesn’t have this problem. The second problem, and it equals out my first complaint, is the “Lineup” and “Keep Watching”, sometimes I fall asleep and auto-play would play shows I have no interest in watching or I just absolutely don’t want to watch but it plays the shows anyways so it shows up in the “Lineup” and “Keep Watching” list; I wish we could remove shows from both menus especially from “Keep Watching”. Those two are my biggest issues and the ones that really get on my nerves. If you fix those two issues I think this app would be perfect!! Fix these two issues!

At first it was running fine a little trouble shooting but lately it’s been doing a lot of troubleshooting where I can’t even play a program that I want to see or a movie and it’s really frustrating when your paying for something and you can’t even enjoy it. There has been several times when the pictures don’t even pop up so you can’t even see what options you have or when the movie or program you what to see doesn’t even play due to trouble shooting. it is disappointing because there’s not many options to choose from and there’s nothing you can do about it when you’re just too tired to have to call it in all the time especially when your a single parent with stage 3 1/2 congested heart failure and had a long day coming home from several Dr appointments. It Would also be nice if they could please be more accurate when putting the new episodes in “my stuff” because I always have to go into “my stuff” go through the my saved programs and then go to the episodes scroll down to find out if there is a new episode for the week. Thank you so much and advance!

Tried to set up the app on my phone and ipad. Apparently you only ever get one shot at importing your watchlist from an older roku and even if you tell it to do that, it won't do it and it can't be fixed. You also only ever get one shot at setting your preferences, too, cause that's never gonna change. I also found the app kinda confusing to navigate and use otherwise. The graphics are real pretty, so guess they wanted it to look nice more than make it useable and functional or even flexible. You can see stuff any way you want as long as it’s their way and you watch what they want you to see. Also, search function only searches movie titles, so if you're looking for a tv show by title, gonna have a hard time. Can't remove categories like Korean Drama or Food network, which not being a korean speaker who is seriously into food porn, I have no interest in. Probably gonna delete, cause I really don’t need more frustration in my life and don't get why every update has to mean hours of screwing around with something to figure it out and get it useable again. Bad design is one thing, flat out mean design is another.

This app, in all of its device forms, is trying to be pretty to cover up some ridiculous issues. It does not like inactivity so if you’re done watching for the moment, you’ll have to close it down and reopen it to watch again. There is no quick “reload” button either. And you had better hope it doesn’t experience issues “loading your lineup” too. Speaking of lineup, they’re constantly trying to push the major network shows despite the fact I haven’t watched any of them. Oh and your comments like “oops something went wrong” - just stop it. Make it work, don’t try to be cute. Netflix is perfecting their “intro skip” feature and you can’t even make a “go to next episode” feature work. Half the time I’m seconds from the end of a show and I go back to the menu screen only to find “resume episode” waiting for me instead of “watch next episode”. You have some serious work to do on the most basic of app-based streaming features. Don’t redo your skin to make it pretty if you can’t make it do these basic things. Basic features first then you can get pretty. It needs to be functional above all else.

The new design looks nice enough, I suppose. But, it appears that PIP has been removed? Seriously? Am I just missing it? WHY would you launch a redesign without this? It's TV - I don't generally stayed completely glued to most programs; I usually put a show in PIP so that I can do multiple things. You know, like A LOT of people have historically watched TV - while doing other things. I'm absolutely baffled that you would take something away that's so basic and then tout how much better the new app is. I don't usually write reviews but I had to for this - VERY poorly thought out. Please address so I can continue to feel good about paying for this service (including the additional charge for ad removal no less). I have been a fan for so long! UPDATE 21-OCT-17: Thank you very much for bringing back PIP. I was definitely using the app less often while this feature was missing, and I really value its return. I’ve updated my rating.

The execution on the update that brought it was horrible. If I press the Home button on my device, it will shrink the video screen down like one would expect for PIP, and leave it playing in a cute little box in the corner while you do other things on your device. I loved it right away. That is, until I discovered the mini screen *might* show the controls when you tap it, but more than likely a tap won’t give any reaction at all. Open the app in full and PIP will still be going (more often just the sound of it), but the rest of the app doesn’t respond at all, meaning I have to completely close down the app to do something as simple as respond to a text message. As for the FF/RW part everyone else is griping about, I can live with it. It’s not as bad as they make it out to be. My main concern is the lack of functionality regarding the PIP feature. Please get this one fixed! It’s a great concept, it just needs a little push to be great and get my rating to 5!

My biggest gripe with the app is that you can only have two people watch at once, unlike other apps I use. We use this app a lot, but don’t like the limitations for viewing. I now have an iPad and love to use the ap on it, but discovered not all of the shows I watch literally on any other device appear on the app for iPad. They appear on the iPhone and my smart TV. The shows are listed in “My Stuff” on those apps, but don’t appear anywhere on the app for iPad. In fact, they don’t appear at all if I perform a search. Up until a few minutes ago I could watch them ( if started on another device) by going to “Keep Watching” .... but would have to control where I was with a show using an app on another device ( eg watching an episode again would require going to the iPhone, starting the show, stopping it and then picking it up on the iPad). Sadly, that’s now gone because “Upcoming” has replaced “Keep Watching” so I have to finish binge watching on another device. Why the huge discrepancy in performance? I

Besides the app only sporadically working properly on my iPad (maybe 6/10 times?), the new setup and interface is just awful. Forget browsing through all of the available titles, here are about 6 TV shows and movies we will show you over and over again because you watched that one thing that one time. As far as I can tell, there is no longer a way to just view a list of everything on this app. I have to use an external third party website to get an idea of what there is to watch. I hate my recommendations, and even if they were based on a better algorithm, I want to choose what to watch myself. Watchlists? Forget about it. “Save something for later” now apparently means “I like this thing, show me more stuff like this”. That is not helpful, nor is it realistic considering people can like a wide variety of genres and specific television shows and movies. The “browse” feature is an illusion of choice, and this is quite clear in the way the new design shows quite literally one television show or movie on one full page.

As of the current version of this app, it is completely inaccessible while using voice over, After a certain point. I've tested this app on several devices running voiceover with the same results. I'm pretty sure that this has something to do with the so-called new and better user interface. However, the new interface does not work with voiceover, making it virtually impossible for me to use both the app and this service when I'm not tethered to my computer. I used to be able to use this app with no issues along with a few small workarounds, but now I can't use it at all. I can sign in and search for shows and movies, but that's about it. Then after clicking the search button, I am unable to view my results if any. Then, when I actually do manage to find something that I can click with voiceover, voiceover then gets hung on the Clock area which is found on the top of the screen. If the issue with voiceover and this app could be fixed, that would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

The UI is not user friendly. Seems there wasn’t any thorough quality assurance done on the app or at least from the iPhone device. Why am I allowed to play and watch something from my iPhone while also casting to my television at the same time? When this happens I lose my ability to control the television’s stream including rewind, fast forward and play/pause. Additionally it’s difficult to easily resume a show. When I come back to a show and click play, it often automatically gets me to play the next episode of a series instead of continuing to watch an episode I had not completed yet. Additionally, I hate that it logs me out of the app on my iPhone often. I understand if it’s maybe due to a software or application update but it doesn’t seem to be the case. Mind you my iPhone is up to date on its software. Please take notes from Netflix as they have mastered their user experience from the iPhone if one had to compare it against Hulu’s.

Pretty good app but you need the premium subscription to enjoy it if you don’t want the rewind/fastforward function to not cause to watch commercials. People are saying it’s not user friendly but I don’t see that at all. I’ve never had a problem with crashing, the app not opening, or the app not loading properly. Whenever I’m in a location with poor service, the app still loads all the show selections and I can still watch it without constant buffering like the Netflix app. It also looks sleek and not so plain like Netflix. I honestly loved the new overhaul update and when it first came the rwd/ffd would go whenever you touched the screen but now you have to tap the screen to do that function. So, in my mind the problem was fixed. I love the app, people just need to cool it.

When I go into the app I don’t like the way it’s set up compared to how it’s used to. I am actually considering cancelling my subscription and just sticking to Netflix because of how horrible it is. I can’t even find a huge selection of shows or movies because it shows one movie or show on the whole screen and I don’t like it that way at all. I love the way netflix is set up and I’d prefer it to be similar to that. I also don’t like the touch sensitive feature. When I watch a tv show i click the screen a lot to look at times or just because.. and it skips me all the way to a random spot and then I have to find where I was before which is SUPER annoying. Like I’ll give it one more month but after that I’m cancelling. Also recently there has been a green screen every time I try to watch my show. And it freezes and skips. I’m watching it now and I cant even see it working properly.. please fix or I will cancel my subscription. I am no longer happy and you guys will lose a ton of business because of these issues

Here’s a new fun problem! When watching a show I get a phone call- on my phone- & answer it. Does the show stop playing? NOPE! So now I’m trying to talk to my doctor while the audio of the program I was watching still plays on my phone. Awesome! How dare I use my phone as a phone, right? Anyway, thank you for finally fixing the most poorly designed video viewing player ever. It is nice that I now have to hold the play button down on the screen to skip ahead in a show. Before if I would pick up my phone, accidentally bump it, etc, it would change the place in the program. Always loved spending an extra 10 minutes trying to figure out where I was in the movie (spoiler alert?) all because I touched my phone screen by accident while holding it. Seriously, does anyone actually test out these new features before you roll them out & unleash them on your customers?! After each new update I worry about what new fresh hell it will bring.

I hate that now every time I flip my screen to fullscreen on my phone, that I can’t see the time and charge of it. I think it’s absolutely a hassle and a pain to have to exit full screen just to see the time/battery life. I also hate that every single time I leave full screen, when I re-enter the app, I have to manually flip it back to full screen. I liked the old format MUCH better. While I like to be able to fast forward, I think the best set up for streaming apps is Prime Video. You can see the time and charge just by touching the screen, my time in the show doesn’t change with just the slightest touch, and every time I leave the app, I can re open it and it’ll either play on its own or just still be on full screen and I don’t have to manually make it that way. Whoever is doing your updates right now should be demoted and you should get someone in there who actually streams things regularly so they know what is best. Hoping these minor issues can be fixed and your app format gets better!!
New interface is less user friendly

I don’t understand cosmetic changes that (a) compromise function and (b) add more clicks to do the same thing we were able to do before but was easier. I’ve been giving the new interface a chance as I understand anything new can take a while to get used to it but after roughly 4 weeks of daily use I can say the new UI is just frustrating. I don’t even understand the algorithm used to order/sort the shows you watch on “my stuff” area. I find myself searching around for my favorite shows. Often times I find that the “new episode” indicator doesn’t show at all in the my stuff area. So I no longer can just look at a glance to see which of my shows have new episodes. I have to click on the show and you better click on the go to the show details or else the show just starts playing. I just wNt to see if there’s a new episode since you didn’t show it to me! So go back, click on the right link and now you can see that indeed you had new episodes waiting. Then there’s the issue of lack of sync if you view on different devices. Watch on a tablet a show? Go back to a laptop the next day, the same show you watched 5he night before is not marked as watched. Moreover, add a show to your stuff on your laptop , it doesn’t show on your iPad. You must add it there, yes, I’m using the same account and profile. I could go on but this is enough. Why change a good thing for the worse? SMH in frustration.
An Affront to the Art of User Interface Design

To describe Hulu’s new user interface as torturous barely scratches the surface. Touching the screen to access the player controls causes the entire image to be obscured. The controls remain on the screen for several seconds after playback resumes, leading the user to touch the screen in an attempt to make them go away (so the video can be viewed); this usually results in changing the position of the “playhead” or “timeline” control, skipping to some other random part of the program. There is simply no excuse for this poor of a design. But at least Library navigation is utterly bewildering, indicating the developers are fully committed to making the app unusable in any respect. Airplay support has also been removed, which is simply hateful.

TLDR: App is meh. Annoying to use. Service keeps charging me even though I've canceled twice. Customer service is swamped or just won't respond. Won't use app or even service anymore. The primary reason for me leaving a review is the service itself, to be honest. To begin with, I started the free trial to test the service. I wasn't completely sold, so I canceled. At the end of the trial, I was charged anyway. I was still watching, so I tried to contact customer support, but couldn't and ignored the issue to watch for a month. (I canceled again) There were a couple of shows I wanted to watch and I finished one. I actually reached a point in the second where neither the app or the website would let me continue, even though they had further episodes listed. At that point, I lost interest. The website gave me two extra weeks as a "hate to see you go". After the two weeks, I was charged again! I have tried to contact customer service through their chat and phone lines 4 separate days, now. I have no desire to use the service, and the app is not very good. It's very easy to accidentally jump backwards or forwards in the show. I've had to rewatch several ads in a row when I jump back or forward in the points where ads are played. If I watch them once, don't make me watch them again! And fix the scroll bar so it's harder to change your spot in the show.

The new update is not great - I want to like it, I see what they were going for - but i keep managing to hit the bar making the show jump almost to the end or back to the beginning. I personally liked being able to have more information/shows on the screen at once versus one show taking up the entire screen. It's just very very annoying - more sleek and cool...but not functional/practical. Update after using it some more -- still feel exactly the same way, the shows I frequently watch aren't on the main page, I have to search for those each time. There's no summary for the shows so when I want to figure out if I've seen an episode or not I just have to watch part of it to find out which is super annoying. Some how still managing to hit the bar to make it jump super far ahead/back. I want to like the updates, bc like I said I see what they were going for, but it's just 100% annoying

Love the service - subscribed since it started, just about, and have had great experiences with customer service when I’ve had to talk to them. But the app is terrible. To get to the show I want on my iPad: open the app. Select “my stuff.” Scroll to the show. Select the show with the new episode, which has randomly moved the middle of the list. Select the show, then click episodes because (for some reason) it has season 1 episode 1 as the next episode instead of last night’s. Scroll through the episode list, select the new one. Then, it opens into a tiny square in the corner of my iPad. Wait until it starts playing, then click on the episode and select the full screen option. That’s a lot of clicking. Who the heck would want that little tiny episode view? I don’t need a list of the rest of the episodes and related shows. I just want to watch last night’s show. When I’m done, give me the list. Not when I’m starting. It’s annoying af.

Many dislike the new interface, as do I. It is not user friendly. Takes forever to find new shows as instead of using a Netflix-esc interface, it displays 1 show at a time. But that is not the main reason I am writing this review. For some reason, when you are watching a tv series, the next episode that auto plays automatically turns on subtitles, despite having the setting off both in app and in phone settings. This used to not be too bad, as you could just pull up the settings and re-turn it off. Now, you can’t even do that. So you have to stop watching to turn captions off. This is incredibly annoying since I don’t need nor want them on. Also, multiple ads from Showtime drop the F-bomb. I really don’t appreciate that. You should screen your ads better so this doesn't play on more shows kids are watching. I will be calling your offices to make a complaint.

This app was never great; it was slow, clunky, and sometimes froze the picture only to keep playing the audio. But I try and get on to watch a show this afternoon, not 2 hours after I watched the previous episode, and it refuses to load. It kept coming up with an error message telling me to try again. I think: hey, maybe there is an update out that will fix this? And maybe it'll fix the bugs in it too! Well I download the update, and it's even worse. It didn't come up with the error message right off the bat so I thought it was all fixed. But I was so busy with my dogs that I didn't realize that 10 minutes have gone by of that same black loading screen with the swirling lines of death. It simply refuses to load. To be fair I did check other shows and some others did work (for instance Rick and Morty) but several others didn't (for instance Lucifer). Im paying my monthly dues to this company, the absolute least they could do is make the shows ACCESSIBLE.

If you're going to improve design, make sure you improve functionality as wells It looks better than the last version, but small things like increasing the hit slop of buttons and making modals less transparent would go a long way to improving UI. If you're rewatching a series, sometimes the 'next episode' start at the end of the next episode, which is incredibly annoying, if you accidentally touch the (giant) scrub-navigation bar you're screwed if you want to try to find the last location you were at, and while the chrome cast integration works better than the last version, it still only works about 50% of the time when you reopen the app. Generally you need to swipe-close the app on iOS and reopen to get it to reconnect to a running chromecast again, which is a bit obnoxious.

ive been reading the reviews and it seems like everyone else is having the same problem with the stupid rewind/fast forward function. i accidentally skip back/ahead and end up having to watch a stupid ad THAT I HAVE ALREADY WATCHED/WILL END UP HAVING TO WATCH AGAIN just because your developers don't know how to make a working skip function. i have the netflix app and have never had this problem. you should make it so once you watch an ad, that ad disappears so even if you accidentally skip you don't have to rewatch the ads. also i watch a lot of anime with subtitles and whoever does the closed captioning does a pretty lousy job, whether its mispronunciations of words (half the time they are ENGLISH words that are misspelled) or just simply putting the wrong words where they shouldnt be. this needs to be fixed, made evident by the fact that this has an average 2 STAR RATING!
New app design terrible

I don't normally take time out day to simply bash apps on iTunes but this new app redesign was so freaking terrible I couldn't get the bad taste out of my mouth so here I am. Tiles really guys seriously and not just tiles poor and restrictive ways to view shows I can't just get a bunch of small icons like before that give me optimal information no I need to thumb through every single tile to see anything well I guess the days of me discovering new shows is over because even browsing your data base is a nightmare so on my iPad Pro 12.9 I see 4 tiles at a time where as before I would see like 20 or more on my old iPad 9.7 inch this is absurd I advise if you do not want to lose people just in the settings simply add a legacy mode switch to the UI so us who aren't mouth breathing idiots can enjoy browsing your selection. Ah I feel a bit better now we'll back to struggling through your terrible UI which will most likely lead to me cancelling my subscription
Swipe to fast forward has got to gooooo

I'm the kind of person who touches their screen constantly while watching a show, whether it's to check the time or to wipe a smudge or see how far along in the show I am. With your "swipe anywhere on the screen to go forward or backwards" function, I am constantly being forced to watch and rewatch extra ads, and to try and re-find wherever I was in the show before my accidental swipe. Please consider reinstating the setup with the bar at the bottom that had the button where I had to be very intentional with my tapping in order to change location in the playing time. This will make using your platform much easier on my mental health, and on my phone that gets hurled across the room every time I shoot forward 10 minutes in an episode of The Mindy Project and get stuck with an extra 120 seconds of Chevy commercials. I beg you.

The app is amazing, I can watch all my favorite shows and movies. The only problem I have is that every time I try to watch anything, it says that there’s nothing to watch there. And I did watch like 5 seasons yet and it’s telling me that. Now here’s that thing about my issues, either it’s my mom and she’s blocking the app so it’s not Allowing me to watch it. But if that was the case, then I wouldn’t be able to get into the app at all. But once again I am not sure allowing me to watch it. But I am not sure, and if that is not the case, hey my mom and she’s block the app. Then I have no complaints, but if not that is my only complaint. In conclusion, without my problems. This app is overall a five-star.

I don’t write reviews but enough is enough. Please back to the old interface but this one is horrible. FF/RW, HORRIBLE! Whenever I “start watching” a show like Will and Grace, I’ll watch two or three episode and I’ll close the app. When I go back in to pick up where I left off, not only is the show not at the top of my stuff (it’s at the bottom) but it doesn’t save my progress, so I don’t know with episode to start with... The updates are ruining this app... The app was working fine until y’all started “fixing” it. AND ANOTHER THING, sometimes the next episode won’t play unless I come completely out of the show and go back in and then I have to remember which episode it is... I see all of these reviews that go back months, why are we still having these same issues months later... I like your service but will not continue to pay for a service that has been jinky for MONTHS, not days or weeks but MONTHS. PLEASE DO BETTER!
Bugs

Every time I try to open the app on my phone, it says "something is wrong: try again." Extremely frustrating. I've tried reinstalling and updating it, and it's the same problem. It won't work. Update: the previous problem has gone away, but with the new update, I accidentally fast forward my show probably about ten times in each sitting somehow. Its extremely easy to do. I end up watching extra commercials because of this, and then when I try to find my spot again, I have to sit through a second set of commercials if I click multiple times looking for the right scene. It adds a LOT of commercials to my viewing time. I also have similar concerns to others reviews, as it used to be easy to find my shows and find new things I'd be interested in, but now it's not as intuitive, and it's more difficult to quickly find things.
Terrible forward and rewind functionality

The latest update rolled out an upgrade to the forward and rewind tool. On the surface it seems like a lot of fun and simple to use, but in practice the new tool is a nightmare. It is incredibly easy to accidentally rewind to the beginning or end of the show simply by tapping the screen when it's gone dark or trying to pull up details on the next episode. You can correct your mistake either because it immediately sends you back into a 60-90 second commercial break that locks the forward / rewind tool. Once you've finished the break and can go back to your place, you have to watch another 60-90 second commercial break to return to your original placement. It's so incredibly frustrating I gave up and went back to the desktop experience. This tool needs more testing and revisions so it's not so easy to trigger.
Inconsistency

There is this odd occurrence whenever I use this app and I usually run into a few problems: 1) Sometimes the next episode doesn’t play. It fails to load even if I am connected to the internet, am the only one watching, and have it all paid for. 2) Sometimes, even with good connection, the app doesn’t load up anything. It’ll open but every single tab says there is nothing to see here. 3) In the same vein as failure to load following episodes, there are times where I can’t even watch a completely different show. I could let the inconsistency of following episodes in a series fail to load slide, only a small bit though, but, when I can’t watch anything else for some reason? All of a sudden nothing is watchable? In closing, either shows don’t load or the entire app doesn’t work properly. Inconsistency, sometimes it works really well and then the other half of the time it doesn’t work at all. I have deleted and reinstalled, I have turned off and restarted my phone, I have closed and restarted the app but it still has the same problem. I just end up not watching anything for a bit and do something else; which is great, although, if getting me to do something else was the goal, why pay for an inconsistent service at all?
Disorganized

The constant changes to the layout just screams lack of confidence in the product and makes it very difficult to navigate. Please do something about the subpar subtitles do you actually watch and listen to the stories or are you just writing what you want. Fast forwarding and rewinding needs to be adjusted there’s nothing more frustrating then that suspenseful reveal that rolls right into commercial and you try to roll back a few seconds but have to watch another set of commercials. Very frustrating when you have to stop your device mid show only to come back to your place not saved and your going back and forth in the time line to find your spot only to have to watch two to three sets of commercials (I get that this service includes commercials but it’s the navigation that’s frustrating). Don’t be racist the stereotyping and picking what commercials you think I should watch is insulting.
Apply TV app is horrendous

I honestly don’t even know where to begin. All the complaints below apply to the Apple TV app as that is the primary way I use it, and I can’t speak to the iPhone / iPad versions. Half the time clicking on a title does nothing, especially in the “up next” pop up when an episode ends, and if you let the timer run down it replays the episode you just watched instead of skipping to the next one. Half the time when you do play an episode either the sound is a second off from the video (only fix is force quitting the app). Also have had the video appear not the play, click to play again and now two streams of the same episode are playing (one on top of the other) resulting in double audio - and the only fix is force quitting the app. I swear half of the time I use this app it is force quitting the app and waiting for it to reload. Navigation is a HOT mess. Where are the simple badges saying which shows have a new episode available? Why is the “my stuff” category not available to filter by new episodes available? Why do I need to wait for the app to “fetch new recommendations” every single time I open it up? I love love LOVE hulu’s service, and in the past the app has been very solid. However once this redesign rolled out I feel like the quality / reliability of the app has greatly suffered.

I do not like the user interface set up all that much. For example, let’s say I just watched a series. I close app then re-open it at a later time. I expect to have that series somewhere on my dashboard but it’s not. In fact I typically have to retype it in the search box just to find it again. Second, I’m watching a show and I click to go to new episode; however, the GUI is gone! No play, backwards, forward, pause, scroll bar...nothing but an “X.” I contacted IT support and they didn’t know anything. So, it’s typical that I’ll have to refresh the page or log out and log in five to fifteen times over a few hours. But, in the end for the price and volume of shows it’s worth putting up with the glitches.
Can’t play in background

I’m not going to say the new update is terrible because I honestly don’t think it is. I however have been annoyed at the fact that the tv shows can not be played in the background on the device. Normally people will listen to music as they use their device. However, for me that is tv shows. Because I have watched this particular show so much I don’t need to physically see it anymore, I have it playing in the background. Like another reviewer said, no one should be expected to stay glued to a show for an extended amount of time. That user wanted PIP and his PIP was revived. Last night even I was able to play in the background starting Saturday the 18th and ending the 19th. Please bring this back or install it if what I was experiencing was a bug. Thank you for you time.
Great live TV, not the best navigation

It’s a bulky interface that requires too many clicks to achieve what your looking for. This has been a great alternative to Cable, and we’re happy with the quality of streaming, but the guide and actions are not very simple. Would be easier if there are options to go straight to live TV at startup rather than having to go from main menu every time. Better sorting options for the guide would be nice too, like maybe having a favorites sections. They have “news” and “sports” channel guides, but often times they leave off channels that it might not deem in those categories, even if it is. Just needs a little refining for a better experience, but overall it’s better than paying for cable.
Where are all the seasons at???

I'm very disappointed with the fact that almost all the shows you have never finish the show. They're always missing seasons unless it's a 1/2 season show! This is very dumb not only because we cannot finish our show BUT shouldn't all those ads you put in the middle of our shows make you enough money to give us a full series??!!!! This is very annoying. For example one of my shows had to end on an episode where there is still so much story to be told, but I could not experience this show because of this terrible idea. This is ABSOLUETLY outrageous considering we're supposed to be able to "catch up on all our favorite shows". This slogan is a HUGE LIE. If you want an app where you can stop watching in the middle of a plot on a show BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T SPEND SOME OF ALL THAT MONEY THEY MAKE GIVING US SOME GOSH DARN ENDINGS TO FINISH OUR SHOWS!!!!!😡

Besides everyone’s concern about the sensitivity on the rewind and forward, which I agree is soooooo frustrating, I just got the iPhone X and some shows don’t take up the full screen of the phone which is the whole point of the phone! The shows need to expand through the whole screen. also it would be very helpful if they could but the time as well on the iPhone 7 when you tapped of the screen you would see the time come down and now I have to click out of the app to see what time it is and that’s frustrating as well... I know it’s a process and you’re trying i hope my suggestions help!

Firstly, it’s 5 to try and help weigh in against all the people who complained about losing HDMI because it’s been fixed. And on that note thank god the HDMI lightning connector works again. There was no way I was gonna budge and spring for additional technology when I’m broke A/F all the time. The overall selection seems to be getting more bunk. Maybe start adopting shows like The Last Man on Earth as Netflix has done with Arrested Development for example. That being said I still find shows on here worth the amount I pay for the subscription. Smoothish transitions from episode to episode. I think the forward / backward 10 and 30 seconds is odd I’m used to the 1:1 that most video players use. Lastly I think the selection screen - at least on a mobile device - is too large and requires too much scrolling. Again comparing to Netflix, while browsing you can view several show title cards and multiple categories at once. For the regular streamers that’s great when I’m trying to just generally peruse highlighted shows.
