NextStop - nyc subway
Description
NextStop is the app for New York City Subway riders who don’t like to waste a minute. At a quick glance, it tells you when the next train is scheduled to arrive based on your current location, selected station, or pre-defined favorites. With this information in hand, it’s easy to figure out the quickest route between point A and point B. A green dot indicates that the countdown is based on a recent, realtime location of the train. A gray dot indicates that the countdown is based on MTA timetables (pre-published schedules). See the help screen for more details. Features: - Displays your favorite stations based on time of day (morning commute, evening commute, etc.). - Shows upcoming stops at all stations near your current location. - Shows upcoming stops (including times) for selected train. - Includes the official MTA map. Clicking a station displays upcoming stops for that station. - Allows browsing of lines and stations to find next stop for any train. - Displays MTA service alerts (delays, service changes) and advisories (planned work, etc). NextStop is officially licensed by the MTA and all graphics are used with permission.
Hasn’t worked in days
by counter RE on 2019/12/11 02:25
I have an iPhone X app keeps crashing.
Not accurate as it used to be.
by Arif disks on 2019/08/07 01:52
I used to use this app everyday for individual train. Now, it’s not accurately displayed. Sometimes it will say there is a train arriving xx time at a station but when I would get there there are no trains. It displays trains even tho there are planned work for that specific train. Few times gave me incorrect information. There are better and accurate apps for the subway on the App Store.
App closing instantly
by Unknownfear on 2019/08/04 21:13
Love this app, but all of a sudden, every time I try to launch it, it closes instantly. Please advise
Android Platform
by Android Platform on 2019/07/11 00:42
This app is amazing!!! I’ve been using it since it was first developed and recommend it to lost tourist who ask me for directions etc in NYC. It works much better and is 100% more reliable than the MTA app offered by NYC’s MTA. The only downside is that it’s only available for iPhone. My wife has an android phone. Will you/can you... in the near future develop a version of this app for the android platform...? Please consider it as an option. Thanks.
Scrolling not working
by testy on 2019/03/30 22:26
On the alert and changes tab, the text below the fold can’t be seen because you cannot scroll. Been like this for over a year.
Train Schedule Missing
by J-NINE B on 2019/02/10 16:22
The app used to have a list of upcoming train times and it’s no longer there, taking away the option to plan ahead. This is a much needed feature, please add it back, thanks!
Miss the old version
by Sexyremy on 2019/02/05 16:02
Only because before i could put a certain time and it would tell me what time my train would come 30 mins before time i miss that out that ? Mark back to the time please PLEASE‼️
Changed app
by ACFbrooklyn on 2019/01/09 03:53
Please please bring the future train times option back! I commute from Brooklyn to Manhattan. The trains run less frequently in Brooklyn and the future train times were everything! I relied on them every day, especially when leaving for work super early or planning clients for the next day.
Favorites Tool not working
by Foodie168 on 2019/01/03 04:48
I love this app and was very happy to see its updated version after 3 or 4 years! However, I’ve noticed that the favorites for my commutes were deleted once I updated. I’ve tried to add them following the instructions and it noted “your favorite has been added”. But nothing is in the favorites. Please fix this problem. Thank you!
Bring back the CLOCK!
by Pleasure4playa on 2018/12/16 12:06
The update is good BUT it failed to bring back the clock in the upper right corner. I used and depended on that clock entirely. Please, please reinstate it. I work for Transit and I use it everyday in my travels to and from work. And now that it’s gone, it’s difficult to see ahead as to what trains to use
So happy there was FINALLY an update
by Test ees on 2018/12/09 06:42
I can't believe this app FINALLY got updated after several years. Yay. There do appear to be a few small bugs and I really hope the developer keeps working to improve it. For example, my badge numbers on the train alerts page show up behind the delays & changes boxes.
Update got rid of my fav feature
by Charity M on 2018/12/07 21:15
I really liked using this app for planning ahead, but the feature to chose a time other than the current time does not appear to have made it into the new update. Since I never use the 2nd ave line I kinda wish I hadn't updated it at all. Please bring back the option to view other times besides the current one.
Finally Updated!
by PMac18 on 2018/12/01 23:55
This has always been the best transit app for subway arrival times. I used it religiously but then stopped because it stopped being updated with the 7 extension, Second Av Subway and the return of the W. I had deleted it a while ago because it was so outdated until my friend just showed me that it was finally updated. Now let’s please keep this up to date! Thank you!
They’re back
by Rubthebuddha on 2018/12/01 14:46
This is back to being the best subway app, especially if you just need line info. The alerts are working. The real time is working. And we don’t have to put up with the “trip planning” requirements in some other apps. Thanks devs and designers! PS hopefully there is a widget planned for a future release.
Updates and changes
by Nmon919 on 2018/11/29 13:15
No longer able to select future arrival times for a certain line. That was the best feature of this app!
So helpful!
by Mandy82076 on 2018/11/28 12:41
I use this app every morning when I have to catch the subway to work.
No upcoming schedule
by Trip Planner 2 on 2018/11/27 11:35
The best feature seems to be gone. I used this app religiously to figure out subway schedules in advance. Now there is no option to change your departure time.
W Train Missing
by HustleDancingDiva on 2018/11/19 12:17
I would give 5 stars if this app included the W train. I used to love using this app.
Finally updated!
by WhoaItsKevin on 2018/11/16 23:47
Looks like a whole new app! Only minor inconvenience is how to make and edit favorites. I enjoyed organizing them manualy using the 'edit' page on the favorite tab rather than the alphanumeric system being used now.
Still missing the W
by solerjp on 2018/11/16 23:14
Thanks for finally updating this. It is for the cleanest best app. Still missing W train times though. Is that in the works?
Crashes = useless
by bajuch on 2018/11/14 18:42
Latest update doesn’t open at all. Crashes immediately upon attempting to launch. Useless.
Map out of date
by NickAVA10 on 2018/09/04 13:45
I spent money on this app only to find out it’s not the latest version of the NYC subway map. For example, there’s no shown existence of the 2nd Avenue subway line. Fairly accurate and easy to use otherwise hence two stars.
BETTER THAN THAT
by Nickey Vu on 2018/08/04 15:29
this app has been real, thank you for spending time to update the MTA current schedule daily. Your work is appreciated. Easy to use!!! SO CLEAR AND PRECISE!!! So I literally took the time to rate this app because I love it so much. MAKE ONE FOR ANDROID!!!!!
Why does this still not show the W train after all these years
by GrecoLatin on 2018/06/19 17:47
I find this app very useful except that it doesn’t show the W train that I take from Astoria. Why hasn’t it been updated to reflect that?

Update Needed!
by 3GS 2010 on 2018/04/03 15:03
I really like this app and how it makes my commute easier. However the "q" and "w" train need to be updated to the current map. Also, this app needs to be updated it’s been 2 years. It does not work properly with the Apple Watch series 3. Thanks In advance !
Has become less reliable over the years
by CGillard on 2018/03/24 10:43
I’ve had this app for at least four years now, and it used to be fairly accurate in terms of train times, etc., but that has gotten less accurate as time has passed. It still seems to have good info as far as changes and delays, but what is most unforgivable to me is the fact that the Q line extension was completed more than a year ago and the map still hasn’t been updated in this app.
No Q train info
by etaylor3184 on 2018/02/23 18:31
Been a year + since the 2nd ave subway Q line opened and the app still has no data.

I totally agree - save ur money
by Mariamat on 2018/01/20 21:32
This app is just disaster, technically it works but it’s not helpful AT ALL! Arrival time is usually not in real time but just estimation. This app need A LOT of improvement.
Used to be a great app! Needs updating!
by IamSonikh on 2018/01/11 03:32
I've used Next Stop for at least five years and it was accurate to the T with the numbered MTA lines. I've only stayed on iOS 10 because of NextStop. Unfortunately, it seized to offer realtime train arrivals just in the last few weeks. The last update was almost 3 years ago. I wish the developers updated it and the app worked as it used to.
Please update
by Srstyles on 2018/01/10 23:22
Could you please update with the new seven train stop at Hudson Yards
Worst
by Macs601 on 2018/01/05 11:00
This app used to work. Today, it failed me completely. Absolutely wrong and destroyed my commute on an important day.
Really needs an update
by Ckfoa on 2017/12/13 13:08
All the maps are old so none of the new lines have been added. The new 2nd ave Q and the W lines aren’t added. Don’t pay for an app when you can get the same info with real time alerts and updates at mta.info or on the actual MTA app, which is free. This app has been forgotten by it’s developers. DON’T BUY.
Where’s the W?
by Hkateram on 2017/11/25 23:39
The W train has been in service for over a year. When will you add the w to the app???
Update!!!
by Kidcool30987 on 2017/11/23 01:11
This apps is good because of the map, however, it needs an update and it should include the new routes that are currently on the updated MTA subway map such as the 7 line.
Simple but very useful!
by Mambles on 2017/11/05 18:21
I love this App! It hasn’t been updated in a while and I wish it would be. It’s simple let’s you see if your train is coming and whether you have to run to make that connection. love it!
Don’t buy Not accurate don’t buy
by Santiago on 2017/09/29 12:48
The app hasn’t been updated with the NWR and Q changes just to name a few. Tried to contact them but still no response. That’s unfortunate because at one time this was a great way to manage daily commutes...they really need to fix. Nothing worse than an app maker who doesn’t seem to care.

I am going to delete this app if they don't update their maps soon. If you didn't get the memo NextStop there was a new Q/W line added! I used to rely on this app all the time, but I'm so mad that it's been over 3 months with the new subway map and they still haven't updated. Get with the times! 😠

by atomicknuckles on 2017/03/12 00:15
This app used to be my go to and has been for years. However it should be avoided at this point because they can't be bothered to update the MTA map to address the 7, W and Q trains. Shame.
Update!!

I love this app and use it exclusively, BUT when will you update the new map? Needed for the Q line!
Needs update with new stops and lines
by LAnderst on 2017/03/03 06:30
I've used this app regularly for a while. It hasn't updated though to reflect the Q train stops on second ave or the added W train. So it doesn't work well if you're around upper mid town hoping to get ti queens.
Best Subway app
by AAAME on 2017/02/17 19:37
I love this app! Shows times for each line (as accurately as it can based on crappy MTA), but more importantly it shows delays and schedule changes, which really saves me a lot of time and trouble. You can even designate your favorite stops so the home page will show scheduled times!

Needs to update the map
by Supershell11 on 2017/01/08 16:50
I really like this app, I usually rely on it for work since I work different hours & different places everyday as a freelancer. I find the train times pretty accurate for the most part. I mean, if a train is late...that's not the app's fault. The only thing I will say is that they really need to update the map. I went to check to see if they put the new W & 2nd Ave Q line in, but I noticed that they never updated the added stop to the 7 train by 34th St either. That stop has been there for a couple of years now & there's been talk about the 2nd Ave line & the W for a few years as well, so they definitely had time to prepare for it. PLEASE UPDATE THE MAP

Very helpful
by khaberbusch on 2016/12/25 02:49
I use this app a lot to check for any changes or delays and find it to be more informative than google. Also while underground without service it's easy to see routes and stops on the map or train stops list. I tend to use it less for estimated wait times, as it's impossible to get an accurate read on the letter trains and I don't often take the numbered ones. I do wish it was maintained more and reflected new routes or additional stops added to the system since they came out.
Needs update
by Jreid2704 on 2016/12/20 20:36
Looks like the developers aren't updating this app. 7 train has been going to Hudson yards and 2nd Ave subways is opening with Q rerouted. Until this app is updated it's likely a good idea to look at other apps.

Needs an update for new stops and lines
by mismay360 on 2016/11/30 02:30
This app was once my favorite subway app... until I realized it stopped updating sometime last year. The W line has been restored and schedules have changed, but they're not reflected in the app. I'll need to switch to something that works better.
Update needed
by kissinconcert8 on 2016/11/28 22:47
App works pretty much as expected. For those complaining about the times being incorrect the only lines with real time tracking are 4,5,6 the others are based on the MTA schedule and the trains are usually late. However this app doesn't account for the Recent expansion of the 7 to Hudson Yards, or the addition of the W to the Broadway line.
Needs update
by Alice1227 on 2016/11/15 14:21
The subway map is dated. For example, the Q does not stop at 59th & 5th. It stops at 57th and 7th, turns around and goes back downtown. Only the N, R, W stop at 59th & 5th.
Needs Update for W
by AngrySmiles on 2016/11/10 04:13

Don't buy
by Alybarksalot on 2016/08/25 04:20
This app is the worst thing I ever spent money on. DO NOT DOWNLOAD. This app only works if NOTHING happens on the MTA (which is never). I've had it for 4 days and it's been wrong 3 times already, and by wrong I mean it said the train was arriving and I waiting 8-15 min. It doesn't update when any delay's happen and it's a complete waste of any money. This bar far was the worst app I've ever spent money on. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

by mi5t4ak on 2016/04/27 13:50
It's a great app to have, you can see the delays and changes which helps in avoiding any inconvenience. It also lists stops on each line. I use the nearby function and find it very useful to know what time the trains are arriving. It used to be off by a minute of more but it's been great for the last few months. Plus you have the subway map, which allows you to select each stop and check the timing there as well. 👍🏽
Great app when you need to know something quick but...

Alerts and watch don't work
by Adam807 on 2016/03/11 18:01
I got this app specifically for the Apple Watch support. I have a good subway app already but when I get alerts on my watch I can't act on them to see details. Too bad -- I don't get any alerts at all with this one! I set my favorite lines and stations and have all times turned on but nothing happens even when my other app pops up. The watch app also fails to load. The info in the phone app seems accurate but there are better ones out there that will give you a heads up.
I use it daily
by 2-DannyDeuces-2 on 2016/02/27 13:00
But it's not amazing. Pathetically has not yet added Hudson Yards station to the 7 Train line. Like they have 1 job hahaha. Good for updates on delays and changed though. Not sure how much it is but if only $0.99 quit crying.
Needs wait time for train after next
by KH-NY on 2016/02/18 04:30
It's a cool app, but it needs wait time info for for the train after next. I.E. Let's say it's 3 minutes until the next train. But 3 minutes isn't enough time for me to get to the station. With this app, I have no idea for the train after that — that is to say, no idea about the FIRST train I'll actually be able to catch. I have to wait 3 MINUTES while the timer counts down, until i can see a display of how long I'll need to wait for the subsequent train. Is it 5 minutes? 10? 25? This can be a really big deal. Until I have that info… two stars.

And we don’t have to put up with the “trip planning” requirements in some other apps. Thanks devs and designers! PS hopefully there is a widget planned for a future release.
App closing instantly

Love this app, but all of a sudden, every time I try to launch it, it closes instantly. Please advise
Thank you!
Changed app
by ACFbrooklyn on 2019/01/09 03:53
Please please bring the future train times option back! I commute from Brooklyn to Manhattan. The trains run less frequently in Brooklyn and the future train times were everything! I relied on them every day, especially when leaving for work super early or planning clients for the next day.
Train Schedule Missing
by J-NINE B on 2019/02/10 16:22
The app used to have a list of upcoming train times and it’s no longer there, taking away the option to plan ahead. This is a much needed feature, please add it back, thanks!
So helpful!

I use this app every morning when I have to catch the subway to work.
Scrolling not working

No longer able to select future arrival times for a certain line. That was the best feature of this app!
Still missing the W
by solerjp on 2018/11/16 23:14
Thanks for finally updating this. It is for the cleanest best app. Still missing W train times though. Is that in the works?
You're an idiot if you think your train is always going to show up on time
by JefffR on 2012/09/26 21:56
I'm pretty sure a lot of people don't understand that this app is providing you the time the next subway will arrive based on the MTA's schedule - yes the MTA actually has a schedule. The fact that there will be plenty occasions that your subway doesn't show up when the app says so is not the fault of the app. It's the fault of the MTA - big surprise right? When does the MTA do anything wrong? That being said, it's nice to see the subway schedule but you can't completely rely on the train being on time. Also, the alerts and advisories section is extremely helpful. Unfortunately you need to have reception to receive those alerts
No upcoming schedule
by Trip Planner 2 on 2018/11/27 11:35
The best feature seems to be gone. I used this app religiously to figure out subway schedules in advance. Now there is no option to change your departure time.
W Train Missing
by HustleDancingDiva on 2018/11/19 12:17
I would give 5 stars if this app included the W train. I used to love using this app.

Save your money
by Kikibreview on 2015/07/13 18:01
I bought this app because I thought it would be useful to have the arrival time for my train ahead of time. It was a waste of money. First, this app is often inaccurate. Second, the nyc subway app (which is free) also gives the arrival times for trains. It is also more accurate and will allow you to see the arrival times for all trains at a particular station as well as get directions from a station to your final destination. This app only shows you the arrival time for the next train and only one train line at a time. If you're at Times Square and want to take the next train out, you have to pick the train line and then Times Square to see the arrival time and then repeat the process for each train. On the other hand, the free nyc subway app will show you all the trains at Times Square and all the arrival times on one screen which makes it soooo much easier to figure out which train to take. Bottom line, save your money and get the free (better) app.
Nirvana Has Arrived
by DekeJediVader on 2011/04/25 13:31
I have more than a few subway apps. None are as beautiful AND functional as NextStop. The schedule is useful though to hear some people complain they can be off. D'uh?! EVERYTHING is gonna get off during rush hour, rain storms, terrorist attacks etc. That's probably why the developer wisely included the ability to receive and monitor alerts, which is the last thing one should do going out the door. On my iPhone 4 the display is simply stunning. Good job. 5 well-earned stars! Amendment: I'd like to see a future version include express buses to and from Manhattan. I can understand local bus lines are too voluminous. But express service can be VERY useful. As is this app is enough to make me regret being a retiree. Glad to have it whenever I have to move around the city.
Flawless
by JP Howard on 2012/09/26 21:18
I could not be happier with this purchase! This app works as it's supposed to - it provides times, the subway map, notifications of train delays, and perhaps my favorite feature, the ability to see the stops of each of the subway train. This feature is probably the most useful because you can always check to see which stops the different lines are running - for example an F train delay at Delancey St. would result in that station being grayed for the purpose of understanding that the F train will not stop there on a particular day. Ignore the comments on how the train schedules are never accurate ... give me a break! Since when have NYC buses and trains ever run on their schedule? Never, that's when.
PLEASE UPDATE THE MAP
beautiful, but missing diversions?
by Ignatius_J_Reilly on 2011/06/08 17:36
I usually use the excellent iTrans NYC app, but the presentation here of next train times is quite well done. Of course trains are often off schedule but until the MTA provides actual next train info outside of stations, this is as good as it gets. Not sure why it's free, but I'll take it. I'd definitely pay for this one. One big concern: checking iTrans just now, I see scheduled diversions for 14 train lines. All very detailed and current, pulled from the MTA's site. But in NextStop, I'm only seeing 6 scheduled diversions. I'm not sure whether it's not looking ahead as many days or what, but I'd double check elsewhere before taking NextStop's diversion info as final. Only other criticism I can come with so far is that tapping on the map seems to bring up some oddball results. I tapped on the 110 St. 2/3 station and got a station way downtown, and tapping on Union Square brings up results all along 14th St.
Need to update Hudson Yards, but train clock issue is MTA domain, not this app
by Hershelp on 2016/02/07 22:41
I think people who are writing these reviews need to be educated as to why we don't yet have time clocks on the letter trains. Generally, off peak hours - MTA's schedule is correct for lettered trains except L and including 7 when in good service. This app should update for Hudson Yards (was about to give a 4 rating for that but want to counterbalance all of the low ratings that are clueless as to the issues regarding subway time clocks) but for the most part it's a good app. Forgot what I paid for it. Subway time does not have time tables for the lettered trains and this app does
Inaccurate arrival times, but good interface
by Avbo on 2014/10/25 00:45
This app shows the same inaccurate times that the MTA lists on their schedule. So really, it’s the MTA’s schedule that has little relationship to reality. Why the MTA can’t implement accurate train tracking for all the lines has been a mystery to me, particularly in this age of GPS, Wifi, cellular data, etc. Anyway, the bottom line is that the arrival times of trains is fairly worthless. But the app has a very well designed interface. I think when the MTA gets their act together (…don’t hold your breath), smart phone transport apps will be great, not barely useful like this one is.
By far the most versatile NYC subway app
by AuralOsmosis on 2012/03/13 12:45
This little jewel has been there for me every time I've been late or feeling like I had no idea whether I was going tone late, or just planning out my day for the least travel time. I love that it doesn't need to work on wifi or 3G, really useful in the subway to plan your next transfer. As far as I've experienced, the times are pretty accurate, with some small exceptions. But for a free app with no ads, this is a must buy for anyone commuting in NYC.
Great App
by mi5t4ak on 2016/04/27 13:50
It's a great app to have, you can see the delays and changes which helps in avoiding any inconvenience. It also lists stops on each line. I use the nearby function and find it very useful to know what time the trains are arriving. It used to be off by a minute of more but it's been great for the last few months. Plus you have the subway map, which allows you to select each stop and check the timing there as well. 👍🏽
Stop looking down the tracks
by Jacix on 2010/07/05 22:24
I've installed just about every NYC subway app and this is the only one that gives you an idea when the next train is coming. It's usually surprisingly accurate but even when it's not (and considering the slack in the schedule you can't blame the app) it's extremely helpful to know if the next train is 2 minutes or 10. I would be willing to pay for this app but given that it's free what do you have to lose?
MUST HAVE!!!!
by puredevotion on 2014/07/15 12:03
If you live in NYC you should know how much we love our MTA! This app made my life easier on many occasions. It has ETA for trains - and it's spot on and it doesn't even matter if you have service or not - it will still give you the info you need. All the delay alerts were always accurate. Also you can see each and every stop for any line AND on top of it, it'll show you which stopped will be skipped due to whatever circumstances. Love it!!! Thanks guys!!!
Time Button removal
by NerdyDillinger on 2014/06/28 05:36
As the other reviews state, I was a big user of the future time feature, which has since been removed. This feature allowed me to see if a transfer train would be arriving around the same time as the current train I was on. Since that feature has been removed this app has become just the same as all the other Transit time apps. If we could at least get a reason or explanation as to the Future Time features removal, or an alternate way to achieve the same functionality, I would consider reevaluating my current rating of the app. But until then...
New update kills manual time check for trains
by Jay7872 on 2014/06/22 07:28
While the new update looks refreshing, it effectively killed the ability to look up the arrival of future trains. Before, you were able to choose any train line and any station and choose a time interval for which you wanted to check for the departure time for a specific train from a specific station. Now, the app will only show the next train scheduled to depart, with no option of checking any future departure times. PLEASE FIX, it was one of the things I commonly used this app for!
Not an accurate app
by Josh Brewer on 2011/09/04 23:40
I'm a New Yorker and I ride the subway 6 days a week. This app goes off the PAPER schedule and is not updated in REALTIME. What does this mean? It means you don't get live info. This app does show you alerts and advisories, but does not take them into account on the schedule. For example, if there is construction on the 1 train forcing it to make express stops, this app will still show times the train should be there, however there is no service. Also, if a passenger gets sick, this app doesn't show it. In reality, this would delay service, but the app runs on the paper schedule so no changes are made. Finally, if you know ANYTHING about the subway system, you know that it never runs on time like the paper schedule says. There are always problems, but this app take non of it into account. Look for an app that runs on live time for the best updates.
Sweet
by Rblitemonkey on 2013/12/09 07:10
Luckily I live 2 blocks away from the subway, so this app is real useful, and it's accurate, if the train says 10 min. until arrival I toast a bagel, put some cream cheese on and head out the door. Doesn't sound extremely important but it could be the difference between having a good/bad day or being late for work. have been using this for almost 3 years now and never had a problem.
Extremely useable and well-designed
by mdtFUZZY on 2011/08/13 04:10
I can't rave about this app enough. During many late-night confused times underground attempting to find the right train home, NextStop helped so much and saved me a lot of worrying. I also love that, under the Lines section, it'll tell you to which stations each line is running at the time when you're checking. The map is extraordinarily handy as well!
Very good but can be better
by Orderers Annonymous on 2013/03/08 17:12
Another feature should be added where you can customize the actual days and hours instead of just generally morning, afternoon, evening, night. Cause sometimes you make a commute only from 8 am and want no notifications before that time or after a certain time or your commute is only monday-thursday. It would be the notifications less annoying
Enough, and free!
by Pinak Lonkar on 2011/04/20 15:06
Commendable free application. It shows me everything I need to know about traveling subways. Only improvement needed is separation of directions where the trains are bound in the lines section as one reviewer has pointed out. But I guess you can always tell if you know this system a little bit. For a total newbie, it might take a while. It's free. And it is up to date. I don't care about favorites section.
Surprisingly Accurate, Great Layout
by Timocias on 2013/01/12 20:24
The new real time subway schedule is surprisingly accurate and the user interface is easy to navigate. They recently fixed a bug that caused location services to be running in the background. The favorite lines for certain days/time periods is especially handy when looking for a quick update.
Easily the most useful app on my phone
by chopstix357 on 2015/06/14 15:14
I've had this app since my iPhone 4 (currently have a 6) and its a shame that I've just gotten around to review this awesome app. I look like a wizard whenever I'm with someone and I can predict when the train is coming because of this app. Arrival times are 95% accurate which is very impressive given how inconsistent the subways are. Highly recommend!
Not awful, but not as advertised.
by WeeklyRider on 2012/04/29 23:15
Location services worked once - the first time I used the app. Now it always opens and returns to that location. Have to use the map, which makes it a bit clumsy to use on the run. Not accurate when most needed, after 8 pm, when one wants to judge whether or not one should descend the subway stairs, or flag a cab. Pretty expensive app to have such low function - I hope the developers will improve performance soon - I'll look for updates. Great concept, and when the glitches are gone it will be worth the money.
Best app for subway riders!!
by MoniBog24 on 2011/05/14 17:01
Even though the schedule is a little off sometimes. Its bound to happen because if all kinds of delays. But who cares! You can use this app in the subway while your waiting for the train to come or on the train to look at the different stops or the map. Very useful and helpful! No internet needed which is very awesome since you can never get reception under ground. 
If you live in NYC, you need this.
by UndecemUmbrae on 2010/06/13 19:14
This app is incredibly useful. Have you ever ridden the L train and really enjoyed seeing when the next train was coming on the electric board? That's exactly what this app does, for every train! Not to mention it's incredibly well designed. Subways nearby is awesome, don't have to muck around finding my train/line - one click and I know when the next train is coming. Awesome. Download it!
Ugly UI changes
by B. Choy on 2014/06/23 01:44
Screens have weird transition effects that strain the eye. It looks as if the transitions are broken as one screen overlaps the other and for a second both screens can be seen one on top of the other before the previous screen disappears. The new dark blue on black menu options are also an eye sore. The only thing that looks better is the app icon. As other reviewers have mentioned, you can no longer choose a departure time. I never used this feature before because I also found it weird that you can only view future times on a specific line and not for an entire station in the old app. If they bring back the ability to choose a time, they should have for a specific line and also after clicking the map and selecting a specific station to see all trains.
Just what I was looking for!
by ddkv on 2012/02/07 19:41
I love this app! Thank you so much! Two tiny glitches: - on my iPod touch 2G the Favorites tab shows a black screen after unlocking. - sometimes the map view still doesn't register a tap on a station, (also the delay between the tap and the station view sometimes leads to think it didn't register it)
Simple app, does what it says.
by NewBloodIV on 2014/11/15 20:40
On some trains I notice it doesn't always come when it says but it's usually by 1-2 minutes behind/ahead of schedule. Now this is obviously not the fault of the app, but the delays that people cause from holding doors open on the train. I take the D/N/Q/B often and those pretty much come when they say they will.
Could be better but still great
by LB09 on 2014/12/16 10:37
I really like this app; it shows the scheduled times that the trains are supposed to arrive and what lines are at each station. Sadly it’s not real time because NYC hasn’t implemented that capability but it’s still really helpful. I wish they would offer directions between two places like iTrans NYC.
