good full application, missing add option of manual .srt subtitles to a video, within all good
Easy to use, some capabilities don’t always work
by Audiophile611 on 2020/07/19 21:11
Not good enough to be a paid app, Nice UI, better than a lot of Apps made by Streamer manufacturers. Frequently loses connectivity to streamer and doesn’t always display album or track art
Does what it says on the tin
by QHudspeth on 2020/06/25 20:16
Just got the app to access my DLNA server. It found the server straight off and connected easily. Went to my audio folders and was excited to find (unlike with several other apps), a) it automatically created a playlist of the folder from tapping one song in the folder, and b) I could adjust how the folder was sorted, including the most important, NO SORT. Why do so many apps ruin a perfectly good playlist by forcibly resorting it alphabetically? My one complaint so far is that my audio files have gorgeous high res album art, but 8player shows crappy pixelated images that would look at home on an 8-bit gaming console. What gives? Edit: the app has recently been unable to find my Dona servers when it used to have no problem.
Update broke subtitles
by XDR-TB on 2020/06/14 02:34
Most recent update causes subtitles included in mkv files to no longer display.
Network Broken in latest update
by noman1780 on 2020/06/07 19:59
Even with the latest update SMB playback is still broken. If you’re looking for something to play from your local network shares keep looking. A real shame as this app used to work great
Good DLNA player, but...
by fastvin on 2020/06/04 21:32
The playlist editor is terrible. Doesn’t pull in all my songs from my DLNA server and is not sortable.
Great App, but...
by John of the Marshes on 2020/06/01 19:32
No complaints; provides all aspects of my server/client needs. One exception; a "startup password" for the iPad app would be greatly appreciated!!!
WAS Great
by MT Tombs on 2020/05/18 08:18
Stopped connecting to my DNLA server on my home network, I have Universal Media Server. Used to work great for all my streaming needs. Crashes if I try manual connect.

Bug detected
by rzkbch on 2020/03/06 16:09
Hi, there is a bug in this version, when listening to a music folder in my nas server and the playlist is finish each time i want to go back to root folder to choose another folder or album the app cant resolve folder list and it keeps spining... each time you need to close completely the app and reopen again ...and so on...tried both on my iphone xs max and ipad pro. Plz fix
Left/Right-Swipe no more working
by Friewo on 2020/02/28 08:57
Since the latest update the left/right-swipe function doesn’t work anymore. Please fix immediately. The failure appears on all 8Player apps. Checked it on iPad and several iPhones. Usually I would rate the product 5 stars, but with this missing function I would not even provide 1.
So Hard to Do Anything!
by TangoOversway on 2020/02/11 23:42
I cannot find anything that clears the music queue, so now I have 900 files in that queue and no way to clear it unless I delete each file separately. When I open this app, it never opens to the play page so I can just play what’s in my queue. I have to touch the tiny icon at the bottom of the screen to get to the queue. It downloads files, but, once downloaded, they’re in a folder and when I go there, I see a list of files, but no way to play them. Every time I want to do something on this program, I feel like I’m on Spaceball One, where you have to prepare to do everything before you can do it. It’s like going around your thumb to get to your elbow. You just can’t do something, you have to take multiple steps to do it. And when you need support to ask a simple question like, “How do I clear the queue?” There is no way to even find the developer’s website. It does play music files, so it’s not a total loss, but you can just get VLC for that and it does better and there are support forums.
Best ever casting app ever!! Works with everything
by Not so fast on 2019/12/09 01:26
I am so amazed by this app how well it works with casting devices.... this app detected and cast to my old lg 47LM4700-UE, my old Samsung un40C6500 , even my pioneer N50 music network player that I was not even aware of, it is not even stated in the tv spec . Best money spent!! Better than any other apps out there !

SMB Shares Broken Now
by naildownx on 2019/11/14 01:23

Song titles disappear in playlist and more
by @veritas56 on 2019/10/09 01:10
This app is okay. I like the DLNA functionality, but creating playlist in the app is difficult. Songs can only be saved to playlists from the playback queue, not the library. Also for some reason the song titles for some songs disappear leaving a file path message. Not very helpful. Looking for another DLNA option.

Subtitle language
by tk91 on 2019/03/28 12:20
I really liked this app until I tried a movie with a asian language subtitle. It didn’t work. Only displays???? On the screen. I hate to go back to Infuse but until they fix this, I didn’t have a choice.
Best network media player I’ve seen so far for iOS and Apple TV.
by NFB19582729 on 2019/03/05 01:13
This app is not perfect, and at the same time it is the best one I’ve seen that has a version for both Apple TV and iOS. I use it to connect to JRiver media server and it works better than JRiver’s own remote app. It also lets you download files directly to your phone from your network. Something about the video playback quality is not as good as VLC Media player so I use that for video and this for music.
Fantastic but missing one key feature
by Slabwagon on 2019/03/03 19:57
This APP needs an equalizer, besides that it’s great
Fast but......

Best DLNA music player for iPhone
by Rachel Duim on 2018/10/17 00:26
Best DLNA music player for the iPhone. Only gripe: Download All does not play albums in the Music area in the right order. I have the order set to Track N, but it plays the downloaded music in alpha order. UPDATE: connecting to a Bluetooth speaker is very unstable. I use a JBL Extreme and a couple of other smaller speakers. Pausing music causes the DLNA connection to be dropped a few minutes later when continuing playing. This is with ios12 but has existed as a problem since gapless playback was introduced.
Missing ability to use chromecast
by philakid on 2018/10/02 13:17
The chromecast icon never shows up on the screen (both iPad and iPhone), so I have no way to cast to the TV other than screen mirroring. For videos, I find VLC works better and has chromecast that works. 8-player pro seems to support all the videos, photos and music I have, but I gave three stars due to inability to cast.
Won’t connect to Plex.

GIF support?
by Designit on 2018/04/01 03:27

Stops playing music after a minute or two
by akaventure on 2018/02/11 02:24
Using this player with Chord Poly. I select Poly as the output and pick songs from Poly’s MicroSD card - it plays perfectly for about a minute or two and then no music is heard but the song counter continues. Then this app says cannot pause and the message has buttons missing. Bad app and a total rip off at $6.
Best DLNA player I’ve used on iOS
by Studpuffin on 2018/02/03 14:25
I really love 8player as it has a simple and intuitive interface and plays everything from my home server via DLNA with ease! Whether I use my iPhone, iPad or AppleTV - I have a consistent and pleasurable experience! Their support is also excellent. I had a question on the Apple TV version and they responded really quickly. Overall great product and great support. I’ve removed all other players and this is my go to media app!
Stopped discovering Serviio
by Dclangst on 2017/12/03 20:28
Worked great for years. Now no longe discovers serviio dlna server. I thought it was the router or the server but another dlna app picked it right up.
Definitely worth the money
by zumo21 on 2017/11/16 16:07
This is the only DLNA video-playing app that I know of that lets me lock video playback into landscape mode. The app is also very stable, not glitchy, which speaks a lot these days. It also works well with the DLNA devices/software on my network and has a pleasing UX. Love it.
Good to start with for 3 dollars not 5 dollars
by PremKumarNet on 2017/09/22 22:33
A lot of usability features need to be included in this paid version. One I immediately I need is the vertical BAR like menu which appears once click on an icon of landing page, must also be scrollable.
A great app but
by iTrippedStudio on 2017/09/18 14:16
It's awesome but I need to play the files that are in my phone that I put under TV with iTunes how can I do that that's so important no sense in downloading files twice to make it work with your app other than that I give this app for stars
Does not work with IP6
by Satya Ks on 2017/06/16 01:02
I have been using this app for couple of months. It was very good and useful until it needed to connect to remote DLNA server over IP6. This app on my iPhone will not connect to server. My DLNA servers are working fine. If my phone is connected to internet through Wifi, app can connect to DLNA server. I have contacted developer, however they didn't/couldn't resolve this issue. So, app is just sitting here useless!!
Chromecast Support

It will connect but nothing else, does not play any video or show pictures.
Album Artwork Request
by Fetchmeone on 2017/05/29 12:30
Works great as UPNP player! Big request is that the folder icons should be represented by the album cover artwork once you are at artist level or album level. Right now, the album artwork only displays when you drill down to the track level of a folder. It would really improve the browsing experience if at artist level it could be the artwork of the first album it finds or a composite quad image of 2 or more album covers. At the album level, displaying the album artwork would be ideal as opposed to the folder icon currently displayed. People connect to the artwork...not folder icons. Thanks.
DNLA controller does the job, missing some features
by D114 on 2017/05/25 13:19
This controller enables DNLA playback from virtually any source (all sources that I tried) on any renderer on your network. In other words, it does what a controller is supposed to do, and it's fast, and it doesn't crash. This basic functionality is surprisingly hard to find for iOS! Furthermore, I had no trouble making playlists. To get a 5th star, I'd want to see two additional features that are missing: (1) display the format and nitrate of the track currently being played; (2) the ability to order tracks residing on a DNLA server by track number instead of alphabetically (this feature appears to be present in settings, but I haven't successfully gotten it to work).
Finally I have my music back!
by Vuelto on 2017/05/18 17:28
I've been looking for this app ever since I moved my music collection to a NAS. This is by far the best DLNA player I've found for any platform. Thank You!
Just what I was looking for (almost)
by KRC_ARK on 2017/05/06 17:45
This works great with my home network and streaming all my media vi PS3 Media Server. However, I deduct 1 star because every now and then it hangs when switching tracks. It seems to be related to wireless. I run the program on my phone/ipad using a wireless network and then connect to my cordless headphones via blue tooth. When this issue is resolved, I will return the last star.
Worst $6 I ever spent
by Momofalien on 2017/04/30 16:23
No help, no directions, no service. Don't waste your money. Would ask fir my $6 back, but I've wasted enough time trying to get the app to work.

Was good, but update killed DLNA server connection
by TiboriusMax on 2017/01/30 06:50

8player review
by Norwoodmanor on 2017/01/25 23:50
Using with Mediamonkey gold, Bubbleupnp and Chromecast audio. Works great with MM collections, search and playlists. Flawless with Playon. Very little battery use on iPad Mini and iPhone6. Extremely happy with this app and my setup.
Cool simple interface
by RegorGnatsrag on 2017/01/05 14:11
Only thing really missing is security for settings, ability to turn off download ability, and ability to filter what is available on Home Screen to allow kids to watch and maybe only access a DLNA server or Favorites.
Amazing app
by Jshaw29 on 2016/11/05 00:22

Worse design for the new release
by John peanuts on 2016/10/20 04:14
Bad design, with icon takes too much space, cannot show full file name. Useless now.
Very Unstable and full of bugs
by joec1237 on 2016/10/20 03:08
This app is unmanageable. It stops, hangs, crashed on its own. The features appear to be good, but most of them are unstable. Unless the developer fixes the bugs, it's a loss and a waste of money and should be reported to google and iTunes.
NAS Crash City
by Nushagak on 2016/09/14 13:50
This app doesn't work with a NAS. It would not self-discover my Synology NAS so I had to enter the url. Once I entered the url every time I click on "servers" to connect to the NAS the app crashes. I then bought FileBrowser which is awesome - it self discovers and works perfectly for using any type of file (movies, docs, songs, pics, etc) stored on my NAS and is really easy, convenient and fast. I deleted this absolutely useless 8player app from my device and I am going to demand a refund (not sure how to do this on iOS app store but I will find out!).
Yeah, it looks prettier(?) but....
by LowPop on 2016/09/01 22:40
I've been a long time user and reluctant fan of this app for several years now. I'll concede that I've strayed over that time, but I keep coming back. Hoping. I have a very large music collection (5k LPs-20k CDs, around 14TBs of digitized music total). First, I do appreciate the DLNA improvements and other similar enhancements, unfortunately those are not what's front and center for users. I'll just say it, the new interface is atrocious. - icons are way too large, at least for my tastes. Perhaps provide an option for S M L? - navigating MediaMonkey directories is painful, almost literally. You select server, then MediaMonkey (or other DLNA), then artist or location, or album, etc., then you go in again from there and so on... Now, the journey there is not bad at all, but getting back? Warm up your wrist and fingers. You have to swipe back once for each layer deep you went in. Cumbersome to say the least. - album/track selection interface suffers dramatically in that you are only presented with the cover art and title. Where's the artist? Album name? Option for detail view vs cover art? Why not provide options for displaying or hiding tagged metadata? This isn't as big of an issue when finding a song on an album, but from a playlist it's a complete nightmare. These are but a few of the frustrations with the interface. There are soooooo many new features that I've been hoping to see for years but instead you decide to focus on an interface update? I don't get it, unless the new interface is required for these elusive items on said wish list. perhaps? One can hope. I really do like this app and I love it's potential. Here's to hoping we live to see it one day.
Crashes after opening it -- iOS 9

Absolute Gold!

Overall a great player, A little buggy playing music in the background
by BobG813 on 2016/07/16 18:22
This is a full-featured, easy to use media player. It works great with any DLNA or UPNP devices on your network. It's easy to set up and use. One feature this player has that no others have, is the ability to sort songs by the track number in the ID3 tag in folder view. Most players just sort them alphabetically. My only complaint with this app is that it is buggy when running in the background. About a third of the time tracks don't advance when the app is running in the background. Even when bringing it to the foreground, the music won't play unless you kill the app and restart.
Great app.
by Roberto.Leite on 2016/05/22 12:26
Great app. Sometimes it suddenly halts when downloading but even so it's pretty cool to listen directly from my storage using dlna and also locally after download. I recommend .

I was looking for a way to watch my movies on my WD My Cloud drive with my iPad and iPhone. Came across this in some of the iPad threads and it works great! Had to buy the full version but well worth the $$! Nice job!
don't try it
by Windsurfer-b on 2015/10/04 21:31
It seemed as though this may be a worthy choice. I was wrong and wasted 5 bucks. The app will not view DLNA pictures and the video playback from the same DLNA server stop every few seconds. I should note that Amazon fire TV stick can view images and play video from this same server. Don't waste your money!
Pause prob
by floyddparsons on 2015/08/27 12:43
As of latest update, it keeps pausing. I think the idea about keeping it plugged in to a charger works, but please fix soon. Otherwise love this app. It reads my multiple network drives, and works well with Apple TV to display the video on my tv.
Please fix pause problem
by thuglife_-1 on 2015/07/31 11:01
Update: Pause crash is still unfixed. I am going to try Plex app until 8player can get it together. Update: I just found that if you keep your iPhone connected to a charger you can prevent the pause bug from crashing the app. But, as soon as you unplug it from the charger it'll crash a minute later. Maybe it has something to do with the screen lock. Update: Had been working great up until this update. It's annoying how after pausing, and then when you press play, after about a minute, the app will close. And, as dphilippe said, you lose your place. Works great with Serviio. Streaming out of the network, over the internet works great! As long as you have plenty of upload speed at home and a decent signal on your device.
Pause
by dphilippe on 2015/07/27 06:20
God forbid you pause in this version AirPlay drops and app closes and you lose your place
Was great...
by NotAPreppie on 2015/07/23 23:57
...until the latest update. Now it crashes more often than a blind, drunk race car driver. It can't go more than an hour without crashing (often only a few minutes). It's completely unusable in its current state.
Stability is an issue
by RobbKester on 2015/07/19 20:00
I have a Twonky media server and this is the best app I have found to access content on that server. I can access it from my home network or from the Internet. I can select a large playlist and start playing tracks while the whole list is loading - other apps make you wait for the list to load before you can play anything. As other reviewers have stated, pausing a track is not a good thing. Playback will pick up again - but very shortly the app will crash. If you were accessing a remote source, you have to go back through all of the menus to find your place. Very annoying. The app seems to be very sensitive to network changes. If I move around while I am using it, the signal strength will vary. This usually gets the app stuck. It will stop playing a track. It will stop loading files from a playlist. In both cases, you need to start over again. I find myself using my mobile data even at home, because I won't run into network strength issues like this. A wish-list item is support for ChromeCast. That would be quite a nice addition. I like a lot about this app - but I would like it even more if it were more stable in certain situations.
Works great for me
by Nunkin on 2015/04/19 11:33
All our CDs are stored on a Synology NAS using iPad and Oppo 105 as a rendered - music only - only app I could find that would play an album all the way through. Rest stop after a single song. Very speedy navigation given the number of albums we have. Great job!
Very Good
by MikeSawThis on 2015/04/01 20:33
Very good app for streaming contect from a NAS device to your iPad or iPhone. I am using it to stream video from a Western Digital MyBook Live and Western Digital MyCloud. I like that this app does not require an additional software download to work like some of it's competitors do (Air Playit and Air Video HD). The app seems pretty stable and I have only experienced buffering issues occassionally. This app however occassionaly gives an error message about a missing audio codec (AC3?) on certain files and directs the user to try the video playback on VLC. If this app could play every file, it would be excellent.
Do not buy this!
by Tuvxaqw847d on 2015/02/14 20:58
It does not support common audio codec used by HDHomeRun Extend. Don't waste your money on this junk!
By far the best DLNA player

Well maintained by the developer and very reliable.
great app
by boopers001 on 2015/01/09 01:22
I've been very happy with this app. Simple way to stream video from my miniDLNA server. One request though. I would be nice to have a quick forward or back button simialr to those in the Postcast app.
Below average performance
by TheDecoyDog on 2015/01/02 15:27
This app frequently loses contact with the server, and there does not appear to be any way to fix that. There are also several file types that it cannot play. Finally, updates are relatively rare, and it looks like the improvement of this app has largely been abandoned by the developer. Best possible improvement would be the addition of chrome cast
The best DLNA player!!!
by Bmess9991 on 2014/11/09 23:57
It works with every type of dlna, it supports external dlna, it supports cover art, it supports custom sorting, what more could you ask for?
Awesome app

Looked and looked for a decent player to run my music from a WD MyCloud NAS to the iPad. This player runs it and my Windows Media Server well. Has ability to create its own playlists to play song combinations from any server source. Has nice looking browser. Easy and intuitive to use (for my wife).
Slow and crashes after last update

Slow and crashes after last update. Using IOS7 and it now does not work as smoothly as it did before.

Simple yet powerful
Excellent for music
by BlizzyPop on 2014/09/25 05:06
There are a ton of DLNA/UPNP apps out that handle video well, but few that do audio well. This app excels here. Navigation is fluid, audio continues in the background, and folders play continuously by default. The UI is gorgeous a well.
Ok app
by Bobby2217 on 2014/09/08 19:16
Constant FC and freezes when playing video. Update. It now plays videos very well. It stutters with some HD videos but not others. All formated the same, mp4. Picture slideshow is okay, but it won't let me search in subfolders. And trying to list all photos causes the app to force close. I have over 200,000 photos. It will only list 30,000 before FC. I have found an app that allows me to do what I need though. Wish it was this one. The music player is the best I've found.
Choppy
by jcbmtz on 2014/08/28 16:18
I've never seen worse UPnP playback.
This app does everything..
by Brassum on 2014/08/13 21:58
I wanted it to do. I uploaded my mp3's to my NAS-storage and now I can access these files easily with this app! Thank you for your great work! Keep it up!
Losing codecs....
by NBCsucks2012 on 2014/08/02 00:26
Seems like with every release an additional codec is dumped so some formats can not be played. Maybe time to dump this.
Used to be great
by Roolark on 2014/07/30 02:00
When I bought the app, it was great and played everything. As other users have noted, the author keeps removing codecs, and now the app plays next to nothing. The next thing to be removed, from my point of view, is this app, from my ipad.
Would like to know which codecs were removed
by bobcat56458 on 2014/07/29 15:53
In the past I would have given this app 4 or 5 stars, but with the author removing codecs, and not specifying which are removed, I'm giving it 3 stars.
App works just fine but keeps removing codecs
by asdmac on 2014/07/27 15:46
I paid for this app because it had a comprehensive list of codecs. With every new release the author removes one or two codecs. I was hoping that the author used the money he made out of the app to pay for the codecs.
Losing more codecs, not again
by Eaglelephant on 2014/07/26 04:56
This app keeps downgrading by losing codec because of license problems
Best media server app for upnp
by coloboiler on 2014/07/20 23:13
This app is the best, most consistent, feature-filled app for streaming media from a NAS, hands down. Others either don't have upnp support at all, don't recognize my server, or do little more than allow me to find individual files. 8 player does all of these things, allowing me to control all my media from anywhere, easily and quickly. Keep up the good work!
doesn't work :(
by kailan11 on 2014/06/25 20:00
I spent the money hoping the full version would play my mkv files, and it doesn't. Says the audio decoder is unavailable. Don't bother trying to use this to play media files.

Bug detected

Hi, there is a bug in this version, when listening to a music folder in my nas server and the playlist is finish each time i want to go back to root folder to choose another folder or album the app cant resolve folder list and it keeps spining... each time you need to close completely the app and reopen again ...and so on...tried both on my iphone xs max and ipad pro. Plz fix

Since the latest update the left/right-swipe function doesn’t work anymore. Please fix immediately. The failure appears on all 8Player apps. Checked it on iPad and several iPhones. Usually I would rate the product 5 stars, but with this missing function I would not even provide 1.

I loved this app and was worth the investment in making my iPad a remote for my media server. I didn't mind much that it couldn't stream avi files among others through the iPad. I mean I have a 65 inch tv I would watch the streams with. So then comes the update which found a solution for those who want to view such files on the iPad. A great addition for the app but a major subtraction for me. After installing the update my television was not to be found and to make things more difficult the GUI is tough to navigate and find the settings to setup my tv for it. I have to go back to plug player for my remote needs until I can figure out if there is a way for my sexy beast of a tv can be found again by this app. Don't get me wrong it's almost perfect for my needs and well worth the money when I need to watch a movie while in the bathroom. Hopefully I can find the answer to my dilemma. Now where is my toilet paper...

Excellent app, excellent customer service
by Mjm295 on 2011/07/03 16:53
I have both the 8player app and the AirPlayer app - this app is easier to work with b/c of the interface. It is not capable of utilizing all video file formats, but for what it does support, this app is king. Please make sure your video files are supported before download or that you have a way to convert them. I had an issue playing video files from my home NAS server so I reported a bug. Within the evening I had a response from the app developer until the issue was resolved. How cool is that? My issue: this app doesn't support video playback of m4v files (or my server wasn't recognizing them correctly), the solution: simply change the files extension to mp4 - really, it was that easy. Now I stream from my NAS to my iPhone and beam my appletv via AirPlay - this is exactly what I downloaded this app to do (I can have my computer off now when I watch a movie) This app is killer and totally worth the $5. It does exactly what I described above and does it well. The support is superb and the developer is really nice to boot. Cheers 8player and thank you so much!
Good UI, works well
by n8gray on 2011/08/27 16:59
I'm reviewing this for use as a "control point," which means I use it as a remote control, not a media player. I use 8player to control my Onkyo receiver, streaming music from a Linux-based media server. The program has no trouble connecting to the receiver or the server, and the UI is smooth and responsive, if a little unorthodox. My only request for the UI would be a way to quickly jump to the items starting with a certain letter, since scrolling through 1000 artists to reach the one you want can get tedious. The search function is ok for this but sometimes you just want to browse by letter. Ive tried quite a few DLNA remotes and 8player is the best I've found. However, it has one very frustrating flaw. If it's not running, the music stops. If you start playing an album, then lock your phone, the music will play for a few songs, then stop. Open the program back up, and the music starts again for a few more songs. Since you can't be expected to leave your device unlocked for the whole duration of an album, this is a really bad thing. I understand that this is a limitation of the DLNA protocol, but I would like to see somebody find a way around this, perhaps by supplying a daemon to run on your server to keep the music playing once the phone shuts down. Whoever finds a way to do this will make a LOT of sales and get my fifth star.
Video TV Play
by Matts68nova on 2013/05/05 19:02
For the most part the application works well. In fact, I tried another player first and playback of higher resolution videos resulted in pixelation, distortion and crash. At first thought it was bandwidth but ruled that out. Then downloaded first but same result. Then played with 8Player and worked great. Unfortunately one of the biggest benefits does not work. Being able to attach to my TV for larger screen playback is a large part of this type of app. However, all I get is audio. I went directly from the app to iPad's built in video player function and it displayed video perfectly. I even went to the app that caused pixelation on larger videos and displayed on TV through iPad as well. Went back to this app and, again, only audio. For the most part very good but I will have to look for another that can do this basic function.
Jamman51
by Jamman51 on 2013/03/24 01:41
Nothing but problems with this app after updates. This is not what I paid for. App worked great when it was version 2.8. After I mistakenly updated to the later versions nothing works as it did before. App tech support suggests it must be my DLNA server. All of my other apps still work with that same DLNA server. There was a manual "fix" in the version before 2.8.11 for local media files but not the DLNA server. Now I stupidly updated again and now the local files no longer play with version 2.8.11. I already know that tech support is going to say apply the manual fix for the local files but they still don't have a solution for my DLNA server. Why can't I just get the original version I paid for? I don't need any of the "fixes" they are pushing. Why is there no option to downgrade to original version. I should have backed up the original to an alternate location so it wouldn't be overwritten by the update.
Just what I was looking for
by tyanimations on 2013/11/16 20:35
There are many apps that stream from a DLNA device but I found this one to be the best. Sure it's easy to make a nice user interface but this one stays simple and offer a cool way to see the previous directory. The real breaking point I had was all the other apps seemed to not spent any time in the video playback. I would skip to a certain time and it would either skip to end of the video or the start. This is the only app I could find that brought me to the time I wanted and fast. I have only one suggestion for improvement, and that's the slider for the time. It's a bit too small. Other than that everything is perfect.
Works very nice.
by SemLeon on 2011/08/14 22:58
Absolutely no set up was needed. It saw my Synology NAS and Samsung TV instantly. It displays my over 7000 music videos in the list without any delay. Send all of them (and my movie VOB's) to my TV without any issues. Search feature works great. Sent an email to the developer to request that it plays the next video in the folder (as it currently stops after the video is done) so that I can play my movie VOB's and music videos in succession without having to manually start the next. I was advised it will be in the next release. Very nice! This will make my rating 5 stars. I'd give 10 stars if I could if it had a playlist ability with videos. If it did this app would be as close to perfect as I could imagine.
Works very well
by Mwhell on 2011/06/26 01:45
For those who berate this app as "useless" because it doesn't play their format of choice, the description of the app was quite clear to me about supported formats, so i'm the app is meeting my expectations. Avidmux is a free open source app that converts AVI or MKV to MP4 You can also easily convert FLAC to Apple Lossless, for example, so with a bit of planning this app can be made to fit most folks needs. There also appears to be expanded format support under development as well. I'm catching up on my reading from the Kindle app tonight while listening to music on my headphones from my IPad. Also, watched a home video streaming from my other computer with my daughter at bedtime. I couldn't ask for more!
Thanks.
