Broken
by yyzMan on 2019/07/14 12:51
Apple needs to focus on the basics. Something has broken in one of the latest updates that is corrupting my spreadsheets. Cells that use to have formulas were replaced with values. I didn’t notice at first but then realized that they weren’t updating when I changed values in other cells that should have updated them. If you can’t trust the spreadsheet to do it’s basic function it is useless no matter how pretty it looks!
Ok but Excel has it beat.
by Airbear100 on 2019/07/14 03:43
I’m a avid Apple fan, but Numbers is inferior to Excel. The app is getting better with each update. iCloud works great which is why I’ve stuck with it. This is the app I’ve used to balance my checkbook for years.

Difficult to edit
by Mike in WA State on 2019/07/05 15:37
5+ years ago this app was Excellent. However since it has become bloated with “functionality” and very cumbersome to edit. Sadly, same thing can be said of Numbers which ain’t any better. Why they just can’t leave it alone is beyond me.

I Love It, I Absolutely Love It!!
by Alailima on 2019/06/27 01:59
I grew up with Excel, so Numbers was neat but not nearly as powerful as Excel. With the this latest Update, Numbers is quickly catching up. Pluses: Numbers can automatically update each day’s Stock data. I don’t think Excel can do that yet. Next challenge: Excel can write little batch files to automatically grab data from several files/databases massage it, and create a report. It would be good when Numbers can do that. Thing I love most: Numbers in the iCloud looks & operates the same from Windows 10, iPad & iPhone. Awesome!! -Larry
Review + Needs
by ANDAHJDBSVV682 on 2019/06/26 19:26
I think it’s a great app. It’s very easy to use and has great options- specially with the new updates. Although, I would like to be able to control the color of my pie charts. Yes, there are options for this but you can only change your chart to the colors they already have and cannot use your own colors. That’s a bit bothering since pie charts that are divided into eighths or so repeat colors. Thank you very much.
BUG: Major features not working properly
by 3zozq8673585 on 2019/06/26 19:22
Final version 5.1 You can finally add a trend line but unfortunately there is a glitch. No matter what you do, the equation of the line will be zero (y=0). The R squared value is shown and it’s correct CORRECTION: if one axis have very small numbers (like scientific numbers <= E-5), it will count them as zero. There’s no way to manipulate the significant figures in the spreadsheet or the chart itself
Works for what I need it to do
by AJLanger5 on 2019/06/26 17:30
I made a budgeting table in excel on my laptop. Then i Emailed it to myself and pulled it up on my phone using Numbers so I could input my payments into my budget on the go. Honestly it works just fine for this. Really helps me financially. A little confusing trying to figure out those “typical” excel functions in Numbers (border, color change, font change, etc), but I’ve gotten used to it. I’m happy this app exists :)
On the path to greatness
by James L. Bond on 2019/06/26 13:43
With the last release, Apple added several key features that finally make Numbers world class, and on iOS, a desktop replacement app. In my opinion, Numbers is the best spreadsheet because of its flexibility to create compelling, clear documents. In short, Numbers goes beyond the “excel grid.” I look forward to seeing what is next: use of camera as input? Pivot tables? More sophisticated analysis and design tools? Whatever the iWork team has in store for us, I’m happy Apple is investing in these apps. They are very important to those of us who work at companies where communication and good design matter.

I’d kill for MINIFS and formulas in CF
by Jetetaquine on 2019/06/26 00:36
It’s amazing how robust this app is, given that it works on a phone. The recent updates are nice; the text options are pretty, and I appreciate how a couple of months ago Apple fixed a glitch I was experiencing where the contents of my pop up menus would get deleted any time I edited them. There are two functions I very regularly miss in Numbers compared to options I get with Excel: a function like MINIF or MINIFS, and the ability to make conditional formatting work based on a formula rather than just Apple’s predetermined options. The lack of a formula option also prevents the ability to format a cell based on the contents of another cell. Bonus points if there could be an option that let me hide non-editable fields in a form.
Perfect for what I need
by Tired-of-it on 2019/06/25 23:58
Numbers provides exactly what I need and allows me to perform the spreadsheet functions effectively on both my iPad and iPhone. iCloud for numbers keeps my data perfectly aligned between devices. Can’t recommend this app enough! Well done Apple!

Format multiple non adjacent cells.
by Piogán on 2019/06/25 20:17
Please, please update numbers so we can select multiple select non contiguous cells. When we want to change the format of more than one non adjacent cells is imposible do do it in iOS. I have to do it one by one or use numbers in Mac.

by Chunky Ducks on 2019/06/25 03:03
I’ve worked for Apple and At&t for years and have mastered anything and everything that involves tech. Normally, I can figure anything out within minutes if not seconds. For two hours straight I stubbornly put my entire heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into trying to work this knock off Excel and did not learn a single thing. I never thought for as long as I lived that I would miss Microsoft Excel, but I did. This was a pivotal moment in my life and one that changed the course and trajectory of my future, forever. I am now a 27 year old man with a beard who now is in the process to be adopted by a nice Amish family so that I may peacefully live out the rest of my days churning butter and never have this app trigger my newly-formed PTSD ever again.

by Buckeyes2734 on 2019/06/09 01:34
This app is good but every time I set font to be 17 as soon as I hit return to go to next line the font switches back to 11. If you could help me make this stop you’d get 5 stars but till then it’s a 3. I’m using iPad Pro. Getting irritated cause there’s ZERO help for this 2 days still can’t figure it out.
Zoom
by Wild Terky on 2019/06/08 18:49
This app is wonderful I enjoy everything bout it, except for the zoom it’s set to default 100% and you can’t zoom out at all making any large chart useless in turn making the app useless. If it had a similar zoom and page layout setting to “pages” it would be the best chart app out there.

Finally a Pivot Table Equivalent - Excel Expert
by Vasseur7 on 2019/05/20 16:34
I’ve only dabbled with Numbers, but I like what I see and the experience using it is refreshing. I’ve been an exclusive Mac user since 1993 and an Excel expert for nearly that long. The largest missing capability in Numbers that prevented me from making a serious transition is the lack of a comparable feature to Excel’s Pivot Tables. This is critical for data analytics. Yes, I know I can create close approximations using formulas, etc., but none of those options are as fast pulling a data into a pivot table for analysis. Well to my surprise, today when I snooped around the App Store I noticed that with the recent update a Smart Categories feature was added and it sure looks and smalls a lot like a Pivot Table Solution. I will need to play around with it a bit, but now it appears I can finally begin my transition away from MS Office. Great job Apple!

New User
by Joramick on 2019/05/01 12:08
I am new to the world of Apple specific software, such as “Pages”, “Numbers”, and such. But, after deciding that Microsoft office was no longer a yearly expense we needed, we tried it all out. While some of the features were unfamiliar and seemed odd to an excel user, they quickly became user friendly and very simple. The biggest satisfaction that could be had from especially the “Numbers” app, is the ease of collaboration! That alone is worth the switch to Apple’s productivity software! Even after whatever update people are complaining about, this spreadsheet application is an amazing replacement for that other stuff. Thank you so much for your efforts!

“Recent Files” Useless
by LuckysClub on 2019/04/27 15:54
I like Numbers well enough (meh), but it has one huge annoyance that hits me in the face every time I open it. Why does it display in “Recent Files” any file ever touched on any of my iOS devices and Macs even if it has nothing to do with Numbers? Recent files shows text files, Markdown files, code files, and all sorts of things that I will never want to open in Numbers. When it does this, all the actual Numbers spreadsheets that I open ALL THE TIME and want to have quick access to disappear from “Recent Files” and I have to go digging to find them every time. Please fix it so “Recent Files” actually only shows recent Numbers documents. If I want to import a text file, I’ll go find it myself. Rarely do I ever want that, but I want to open Numbers files every time I use the app.

by BacktoiTunes on 2019/04/22 01:51

Cannot get out of browse screen to create new
by Nrgwise on 2019/04/20 21:30
I am trying to convert as many tasks as I can to the iPad and have been mostly successful. The one area that would be most helpful is spreadsheets. Unfortunately Numbers continually fails to save my spreadsheets and when reopening the app, going to browse to find my spreadsheet, which isn’t there, there is no way to get out of that screen to create a new one. I have given up.

Most recent file disappears
by T12y87 on 2019/04/15 21:13
3/30/19 When in files view, there are two buttons at bottom: ‘Recents’ and ‘Browse’. In version 5.0, in ‘Recents’ view, occasionally the most recent file disappears. The only way to open most recent file is to select ‘Browse’ view and navigate through folder tree. Very tedious. This used to work on previous version. 4/9/19 310p EDT I updated to v5.01. The ‘Recents’ tab now shows all files (after I open them). The date and time shown under each file on the ‘Recents’ tab is not the ‘last modified date’. It appears to be the ‘last opened date’. It’s a bit confusing but it’s way better than not being able to see the files. 4/9/19 440p EDT I like the fact that the ‘Recents’ tab uses the ‘last opened date’ for the files. This makes more sense than using ‘last modified date’. Please don’t change this. 4/15/19 505p EDT There’s no way to leave comments for the Apple Files app, so I’ll leave the comments here in the Numbers app. The latest version of the Apple Files app, on the iPhone X, no longer displays files on the ‘Recents’ tab according to ‘last viewed date’. It displays files according to ‘last modified date’. Apple, please change it back to ‘last viewed date’. This is very frustrating for file types such as pdf and jpg, because those file types are generally not modified when they are viewed, but you want them to be at the top of the list. That is how it was in previous versions of the Files app. Apple, please change it back.

Tab delimited data won’t import
by User1435 on 2019/04/14 06:24
Update: Version 5 stopped allowing tab delimited data to be imported from the clipboard. This program is just inconsistent when it comes to updates. You just don’t know what feature you will loose next! Previous reviews: With the 3.1 update, the keyboard has become very cumbersome. It used to be user friendly. Now it takes 20 extra button clicks to enter information in a few cells. Please bring back the old methods!!! Update: I cannot say I noticed the "improvements" in the keyboard for version 3.1.1. Update 2: 3.1.2 Cells formatted for dates still don't bring up a date keyboard. Version 3.3: Finally they brought back the keyboards that are specific to cell formatting. Upping the review from 1 to 4 stars.
Fixed, thank you
by reynhout on 2019/04/14 05:21
(Fixed in 3.3, happy again!) Numbers 3.1 removes the numeric keypad and convenient "Next ->" cell movement! This is a huge disruption to the common use case of entering tabular numeric data. I've restored to the previous version from a backup for now, but Apple please fix this!

Erased all my important documents!!
by Beauaxis on 2019/04/07 20:42
Before the update this app was great and very easy to use until it updated. After that I couldn’t find important documents and I thought it was because of me then I watched the app in action decide to delete what I had just worked on. I was not able to retrieve it anywhere!! Then I kept on seeing it happen over and over. I lost very important documents that I was not able to retrieve back. Very upsetting. Would not recommend this app if you plan on using it for anything important.

One star
by RjCR11 on 2019/04/03 14:01
I’m giving it a one star just bc if the fact, I use numbers for almost 2 years and everything was great. Until recently when I updated the app I lost all of my data ! Even tho it was saved. I am extremely upset!! And can’t believe a great app like this could crash and burn. Unfortunately I still haven’t found a replacement for this app so back to pencil and paper till then. Always double check if you want to update and if you do back it up into a file that you can upload to a usb that way you’ll always have your information.. or just delete or don’t download this app!!
Great Spreadsheet for iPad Use
by StarLakeGolfer on 2019/04/02 03:35
This Spreadsheet in iPad format is very easy to use for simple spreadsheets... interactive format is simple, easy to use, without the intense formula & formatting issues of the more high Power Spreadsheet of the Mac. I like it better than the Mac Format for my “Household & Recreational” Spreadsheets. Only negative that is a bit frustrating is the “editing” within a cell functionality ... it is a bit erratic when selecting text or insertion points within a cell. Sometimes requires selecting the Keyboard icon @ the lower right on the screen, other times insertion point directly “clicks in” where positioned similar to the way it works on the Mac & in the Pages App. When working with the Spreadsheet, I have not found a reason for this “2 options” issue for cell editing. Rating loses one Star for this issue.
Lost files after opening
by bsktnte d g on 2019/04/01 22:57
Recent update to the app is now causing my files to disappear after I open the file in the app. Unable to then find the file in the app on my device that I opened it up with. Luckily it was still on my computer in the cloud and was able to recover it by copying and pasting it into a new file Apple please fix, great app otherwise. Right now not reliable and not fun to lose a spread sheet file that I spent many hours producing.

by Old Phart38 on 2019/03/31 18:42
I like Numbers and have used it on my Mac and previously on my IPad. It was handy to have it on both, with automatic syncing. Unfortunately, it no longer opens on my iPad, saying that I have to upgrade to the latest version. That doesn't work either. Shame on Apple!!
Numbers
by BethKenStI on 2019/03/31 16:42
The primary problem I have with numbers is that it WILL NOT LET ME REARRANGE DATA IN ASCENDING OR DESCENDING ORDER . For this capability I am forced to use Microsoft and to get the entire Microsoft package, VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!
Lost files

After the new update, new file created will not appear after save them. Also, old files are disappear and can’t be accessed. To restore them or get access the program must be remove and reinstall every single time. Please remove and fix the bug. I did enjoy using it before the bug.
Issues Pasting Tab-Delimited Text
by JAC_151 on 2019/03/30 22:13
In mid-2018 Numbers was updated and it caused an issue when pasting in tab-separated values. Before the update, each value would paste into it’s own cell in a table. Now, all the values paste within the same cell. Sadly this hasn’t been addressed yet and is a major hit to my productivity.
Issues with latest update
by DanBrah on 2019/03/30 21:47
I’m giving 5 stars because I use this app often and I really have had no problems with it, I also really like the collaboration feature. Since I’ve had the latest update (today) I’ve had a few instances where my documents just ‘disappear’, I’m not sure where they went, but it’s extremely frustrating...assuming this bug will be fixed the app will maintain its 5 star rating in my book. Thank you.
Poor update!
by HoodYoumans iMac on 2019/03/30 19:46
The most recent update has ruined all of my shared files. Most edits don’t show on other collaborators versions, some have disappeared entirely. I use this app all of the time for work. Please fix quickly!

I have used this app for years with my job as a baseball scout. I have designed 10 different templates for my needs and they have all been so easy to put together. With the updates sometimes it takes me a minute to think along with the app designers to be able to execute what I need, but every time it works out well. The updates, over the years, have been helpful. Really appreciate being able to use the apple pencil. Good luck! To the designers of this app, I do have some constructive requests for the next time you guys are looking to tweak this. It would be helpful, if it is possible, to be able to automatically save the apple pencil work instead of having to touch the screen elsewhere to get rid of the adjustment boxes everywhere. Thanks.
I love numbers
by steph2344 on 2019/03/30 13:40
I use it for all my financial needs. It’s so convenient to use on an iPhone and never take out a laptop. Much better than excel.
Finally, Performance Improvements!
by Zackfletch00 on 2019/03/30 05:41
After at least a year or so of laggy, sub-par performance on my large spreadsheets, this late March update has finally changed all that. Numbers is now faster and more responsive than ever, and it’s about time. Apple, thank you. I was just about to give up on you this time (like I gave up on your App Store Connect app).
Really like it a lot !!!
by Jrktx65 on 2019/03/29 16:32
Works for my needs perfectly. So glad I checked it out. I think sometimes people aren’t fair with reviews. If I hadn’t checked it for myself and went by ratings I would have never known how much I would like it. I use it daily.

Awesome ... but
by Deebrownman on 2019/03/29 02:18
I love this program . It has many things that excel doesn’t and I like the fact that I can create multiple tables with various sizes within one sheet . While I love the fact we can create templates for new spreadsheets, I would like to create templates for some of my existing spreadsheets . Very solid program that offers a ton of features for the casual users and professionals.
Good app, but needs more advanced features
by janant98 on 2019/03/29 00:37
This is a really powerful spreadsheet app for iPad, and it has pretty much all the basic features you would need. Unfortunately that’s pretty much where the line stops, there’s still a lot of missing features, like Pivot tables, that Numbers doesn’t support. Would be really nice to see more emphasis on pro spreadsheet features.

Add customization options like on MacOS version

Things like being able to edit chart details like minor/major gridline color and dashed to solid, edit chart bar style, chart label style, etc. I love working on the ipad but things like this keep me going back to my MacBook to edit these little things.

New problem
by Unhappy customer 007 on 2018/11/05 05:06
November 4, 2018 The same problem with the date we saw last year after switching back to standard time from daylight savings. It’s inserting yesterday’s date. _______________________________________ July 22, 2017 A problem occurs when sending a copy of your spreadsheet as an Excel file. The Line Break feature used to use a Pilcrow symbol. This works fine. Now the Pilcrow symbol has been replaced with a Line Break symbol. This works fine as a Number file, but not at all as an Excel file. If I were to put this in a cell: 1 2 3 It will show up as this: 123 When sent as an Excel file. ————————————————— November 5, 2017 Found a new problem after the last iOS update. When using the Cell>Today’s Date feature, it is now inserting yesterday’s date. Now that I think about it, I noticed this after the switch from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time. I hope this helps. ————————————————- November 6, 2017 The date problem was fixed. Thank you!
Solid Program, but Needs ‘Create Template’ Function
by Peddidle on 2018/03/18 23:53
This is the first version of Numbers I’ve used, so I can’t say I feel thrown off by the most recent update (seems other users have been, though the functions mentioned in their comments are ones I was able to find and use in this latest version—function layout must have dramatically changed). I was able to Google my way through finding the functions I wanted for a basic speadsheet involving dollars, dates, checklist, adding/deleting columns/rows, changing column width, etc. Everything worked seamlessly! The one disappointment is when I Googled how to create my own template, I found this is not an option when using the app. One has to create the template using the Mac version of Numbers, add the template, and then access it from the app. I don’t have a Mac, so... Despite the great variety of templates and being able to find one that was close to what I wanted, it would be nice to be able to create my own so I don’t have to tweak the template every time I want a new spreadsheet. There might be some work-around I haven’t figured out yet, but until then, it seems I’m out what could be a really great feature—creating my own template.
Baffled, but a call to Applecare resolved every question
by eahorwit on 2018/08/31 01:25
I had a very particular set of parameters and needs, and undoubtedly everyone feels that way. Couldn’t figure out which template to use. Finally I went to the Apple website and in minutes, although it was late in the evening, I had an tech support expert on the phone. He collaborated with me to help us both figure out what I needed. That wonderful share screen feature allowed him to guide me through the drop-down menu and explain the little operations that most people know by now but I usually find mystifying on my own. It was terrific. I have a best spreadsheet going now. I’m using it. Combination of text and space for my notes, and a series of calendar dates that I find really useful. I think this guy kind of saved my business. Anyway two thumbs up for this software that, if even amateurs like me can use, And the nifty free human service Apple provides us with, first-rate tech-support.
useless. loss of once great features.

I thought it was just me not understanding how to enter dates and durations as easily as I did in previous versions. But I'm not the only one who's frustrated and bewildered that Apple did away with the data entry keyboards based on cell format type. It used to be incredibly easy, and fun to use. Now it's not worth my time. Enter dates using querty keyboard instead of just tapping?! Forget it. I still can't figure out how to enter durations. After struggling to use the Help guide, I finally see how to format the cells to take the data, I just can't actually enter the data in an easy, quick manner. And the input forms don't match all the columns in the table, mysteriously skipping over columns formatted with pop up menus. They show up, but are skipped when hitting return, so I can't enter data unless I go back and click on that particular field, out of order. The pop up selections are indeed there, I just don't know why it doesn't cycle through. yeah, this isn't working for me. Apple loves to tinker and ruin things. Do they have that much time on their hands? Cuz I don't, so I won't be using this.
Pencil needs a toggle switch
by Mewhirter on 2018/04/16 03:56
UPDATE: Just noticed that Microsoft Excel for iPad has a toggle switch in the iPad app settings to turn the Apple Pencil always draw feature off. Come on Apple, please up your game. I like to brag about how much better you are than Microsoft, yet they are clearly beating you on this one (and with your own Pencil feature at that). Downgrading my 3 star rating to a 1 star rating until you fix his issue. Please do so quickly. ORIGINAL: For the most part, I love numbers. I use it daily. It has worked great for my purposes. But with the last update, they added the ability to draw on the spreadsheet with Apple Pencil. Nice feature but there is no ability to turn it off and use the pencil as I have been (to click and highlight/drag cells, etc.) Now everytime the tip of my pencil touches the sheet it draws a line. I hate that. With my iPad Pro, the pencil gave me the reach to get cells in the middle of the screen without slowing me down. Please add a toggle switch to switch between draw mode and the old functionality and I will be back to 5 stars. I used pencil the most with numbers and now I can’t use it at all.
Not very useful. Went back to excel.

I used this app a lot when I could adjust margins. The new wider margin that all my documents want to print with looks awful. Very unprofessional. Numbers has always been a bit more difficult to use then Excel. The instructions are not as clear on how to perform tasks but I figured out how to do most of what I needed to. I used Numbers a lot though because it was convenient. A lot of my time is spent traveling. It’s easier to pull out my Ipad wherever I am than my computer so I did a lot in numbers. Now my documents like I said look very unprofessional and can’t be used. You can only input a small amount of data on each sheet if you don’t want the wording super tiny. I am forced back to excel. I am going to try downloading the Excel app on my Ipad but when I tried that several years back it didn’t work well. We will see. If not I am back to pulling out my laptop which will be much more time consuming. This might be useful for others but for what I need to do it’s worthless.
Bug in 4.2 (now fixed)
by Mazinz2 on 2018/10/04 23:19
Had an excel file that worked fine and opened in all previous versions prior to 4.2. I updated to the newest version and now my file will no longer open in it. It makes the spin icon as if it wants to load but does not. If the developer reads the reviews, please look into this issue. The file in question was made with an older Microsoft office (excel) 2002. UPDATE: I wrote this review a few days back. I tried something tonight and it seems to work though the app still might have a bug: I uninstalled it fully from my iPhone (iPhone SE). This also deleted my file (which is fine). I then reinstalled the program and using my computer, transferred the excel file back into Numbers. Now in Numbers when I clicked on my file it takes a good couple seconds (previous versions loaded right up) but it then tells me that a font (Cambria) is not present and that my list might look different. Issue here is my list was in Ariel not Cambria, and as mentioned before previous versions opened it. At any rate I clicked “ok” to this and now it offered a slightly smaller in size duplicate file under my original one in the selection screen. I click the newer file and in a few seconds this opens up and works fine in the program. So clearly we still have a small bug in the program, but I found a good work around for it.
I love Numbers but...
by Global Xealot on 2018/04/12 00:46
It does need some improvement. I like the fact that there is conditional formatting available now, but it falls short. I need to be able to conditionally Format a cell or cells based upon the contents of another cell. I also need to be able to reference a cell in another file. I also need to be able to create signatures in a form (a sheet that is a form). And then lock that single cell. Maybe even lock it with a passcode associated with a iCloud ID. I need to be able to lock individual cells or groups of cells without locking the entire table. I need to be able to lock an entire sheet. I need to be able to group photos with tables. I need to be able to group a picture with a cell. I need to be able to upload pictures into Cells. I need pictures not to be cut in half when I’m printing or exporting to a .pdf. I need for tables not to start overlapping when I print or export to .pdf. I need to be able to see page boundaries so I know where a page begins or ends without going to print view. I need to be able to use my Apple Pencil like a finger again, and then switch to marking up with it when I choose to do so. In need to be able to adjust the Form Sheet’s cell’s Formatting and dimensions. I need to be able to create a form, produce a blank copy daily and then just sign and print that form to pdf to share or archive.
UNfrozen Headers Bug
by Cattywumpus on 2019/02/28 21:52
I am trying to convert to Apple from PC. I think it’s a good app that I would love to be able to use, but this bug is breaking my resolve. I do a lot of spreadsheet work. I need constant access for updating my spreadsheets and I can’t use the app Numbers on my iPhone without extreme frustration. Every time I freeze the headers, as soon as I put my cursor in a cell where I want to enter a formula “this cell = another cell,” the HEADERS UNFREEZE. I can’t get my headers to stay frozen. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to have to count column numbers and row numbers every single time I want to enter a formula in a specific spot BECAUSE MY HEADERS UNFREEZE. I can’t tell you how often I HAVE TO SET FROZEN HEADERS because THEY DISAPPEAR EVERY TIME I SET THEM. I have complained online about this to Apple multiple times with no result. I am now complaining here. I have been pushed to zero patience with this bug. Fix it! If the ability to set and maintain frozen headers is available and I just haven’t figured out how to make that happen, for heaven’s sake let me know.

Solid feature set, responsive developers
by Selvius on 2018/06/16 01:10
I’m happy to update, and say that the Apple Pencil works again as a fine selection tool, the “mouse” of the iPad, with just a flip of a switch in the Settings app. Thank you to the development team for listening and adapting! If you’re looking for an office suite that meets the majority of content creation needs, and aren’t locked into MS Office for one reason or another, then you can’t do better than the free, Apple iWork suite. It does what it is designed to do, and does it well. While MS Office is utilitarian at its core, iWork’s design embraces creativity and presentation at every level. It is much easier to create something that looks good in iWork than it is in Office. I’ve created simple advertisements in Pages on my iPad Pro, and sent them straight to the printer. On the flip side, some feature omissions limit iWork from being a five-star product. Most, you’ll likely never run into, as they’re useful to a small group of users. Others, though, like Numbers not having a hide/unhide key command, just don’t make sense. Ultimately, I recommend you give iWork a try, if you haven’t already. It’s free, so there’s nothing to lose, and you may well find you like it better for your uses than some of the paid alternatives.
I can give a good rating once more
by Pennybink on 2017/12/04 00:44
As the huge glitch that had greyed out my work and made lots of work lost, the latest ios update corrected it. I will overlook that I had to catch up with 40 checkbook entries but glad it wasn’t more than that. Pages and numbers were effected by whatever had caused it. Fixing the issue of the ipad rebooting and as well semi-waking up with no help, that ios update fixed what went wrong with these issues. I was so hoping it would be fixed and had it not with an update of numbers I was going to delete numbers and never use again. But the ios update did work. The news said to not allow any notifications to be on before doing the update. And I did do that. Thanks for fixing the issue.
It doesn’t tell you it isn’t saving
by SooFabulous on 2018/07/24 07:51
There are a lot of basic expectations about office applications: they let you input data, they let you organize it, and they let you save that data. Except this app frequently doesn’t even do that last one. I’ve specifically told it not to save on iCloud so as to avoid that pitfall, which means that it saves changes to my iPhone. Except that it doesn’t. And it doesn’t even tell you it isn’t saving your changes. In order to actually save my changes, I have to keep the app open for ten additional seconds after I’ve already made a change for that change to actually be saved. Do you know how much data I’ve lost because of this? How much time I’ve spent assuming that the data I was inputting was being saved? This is absolutely unacceptable for an app that doesn’t even let you manage your own files. **** you apple. Fix your own stuff!
New User
by Joramick on 2019/05/01 12:08
I am new to the world of Apple specific software, such as “Pages”, “Numbers”, and such.
Simple yet sufficient
by Eh-vegas on 2019/01/26 20:23
For anyone that’s starting, it’s a great tool to click and process. If you have the least amount of knowledge in the spread sheet work space, then you’ll be fine in this landscape. Yet, complex formulas are both available and adaptable to form spread, graphs and charts to accommodate the most complex with a build necessary to formulate on this platform! WELL DONE APPLE! If you want to complain after all they’ve put into this for the price, go build your own. We who are experienced in the old appreciate the new and at the price too. 21st Century APP solutions are great! We used to do this in paper form when I was (millennial age) :) ... AWESOME APP!
Amazing
by philip4g on 2018/10/24 06:06
I am a power user of desktop Excel. Lately though, I’ve been trying a lifestyle of living with just my iPhone — I don’t own a desktop/laptop anymore. So I turned to iOS spreadsheets. I came to Apple Numbers with low expectations (“it’s just a mobile app”) and keep getting delighted by all it can do, and what it makes easy! Numbers is an incredibly well thought out and powerful spreadsheet program. Its UI design is clearly mobile-first, but the features are closer to a full desktop spreadsheet program. This app alone has doubled the value and productivity that my iPhone brings me. Thank you, Apple!
Works great for what I do.
by good on 2019/01/01 02:09
I create large spreadsheets with tons of math going on, and so far I’ve been able to surprise myself and others with what I can do with the iPad version of numbers. I also have the OS12 version, and it’s much more verbose, and easier for me to program, but I have been able to do everything I did there, here on the iOS version, though it took some hunting around the app to find things. This app is probably best as a data entry form tool /editor, than a “complex” spreadsheet creation tool, though if you take the time to learn this version, you could make complex, multi sheet relational spreadsheet database type stuff.
Give me the old version!
by rttheartist on 2017/09/23 01:25
Thank you for the recent update. After only a few seconds of checking it out, I feel it has returned somewhat to the ‘workability’ it used to have. It will take some time to relearn, but it appears to have improved. The new version is terrible! I prefer where the correct keyboard pops up for the field. How do I copy several cells at once? Please!!! Give us the old version again. Routine work, that used to take me seconds to complete, now takes much longer because some of your best tools no longer exist. I have seen Apple software and apps which initially start out very intuitive and easy to work with gradually become more like the windows format. I'm sure this makes it easier for windows people to make the crossover to Apple products. However, the product is much worse every time. I've added a star for making some slight improvements. However, the app is still no where near as good as it was. The calendar keyboard was fantastic but still gone.
Furious!!!
by ArtistCarl on 2017/09/18 17:38
I've spent the last two weeks at work creating a spreadsheet that details price/feature comparisons between our products and the competition (iPad mini, latest iOS release). I just completed the project and wanted to share it out to fellow coworkers. I've spent dozens and dozens of hours on this! This is something the app said it could do, but despite this it forced me to update, before sharing to iCloud. The update fails halfway, now I have no spreadsheet app and I've lost two weeks worth of work, with apparently no way of getting it back! Apple, if you are reading this, please let me know how I can get the old version of Numbers back, and my data, with two weeks of work! Why would you downgrade an app and force an upgrade to a non-usable product, without testing?! So 😡!
Almost perfect but...
by Svenski08 on 2018/11/07 20:48
Numbers is a wonderful program for spreadsheets. It just needs some small refinements to be as efficient or recognizable as Excel is. However, I love the more subtle design and use of spreadsheets inside Numbers. They kinda float and can have multiple tables in one spreadsheet. It’s a little shocking for the Excel users to not just have a stuck table to work in. I am enjoying switching over to this considering it’s a free program and MS Office is expensive and I would have to pay for it every year. Over and over again. Numbers is free and it works over the cloud. I’m going for it and learning how to use it now.
IOS11 Update corrupted my spreadsheets
by zippo7883 on 2017/10/26 23:42
Update: iWork team was nice enough to reach out to me and listen to my problem. They pointed me toward a fix and I can not be happier. Everything has been returned, nothing was lost. The solution was easy. I have been made whole. Thank you!!! None of the spreadsheets save on my phone or iCloud will open since updating. I’ve lost weeks of data because I trusted that iCloud would be enough. Silly me. The files exists in name alone and will no longer open in numbers since the update. I’ll try to update if I get it to work...
Love!!! Use for EVERYTHING
by MissDarkness on 2018/06/04 09:19
I use this for every aspect of my life. Who needs “productivity apps”, when this thing is powerhouse and totally customizable for your every need!!! Similarly online apps that provide statistics cost $10 a month and more!!! I’m floored by this app and can’t recommend it enough! It can do so much more than you think! It will pay your taxes, clean your house, and bear your children: it can do all this and more!!! Just use it and use nothing more and you can actually be happy and make all your dreams come true (ahem this app is a great helper that is)
Don’t fix what isn’t broken!
by Jazzernaut on 2017/12/08 16:14
This was a simple spreadsheet app that I used frequently and had a lot of information in. Since the last update, it’s harder to navigate and I’ve lost all my spreadsheets! Where did my documents go?!!! Update: The provider sent me a link with help to use the iCloud drive and recover my files. Thank you! That didn’t help at all!!! You still get one star! I have icloud set up and my documents still aren’t showing up. The point is why does it have to go to the icloud anyways? I don’t want my info just floating around on the internet. I want it on my hard drive where it is secure! Was a great app, but now is still an awful app! How about this time you send me a phone number to talk to a rep instead of a link you ignorantly assume will help?!
Still waiting for keyboards
by Good but needs ... on 2019/02/18 06:27
Still hopeful that Apple brings back the original Date/Times keyboard and accept an honest mistake in removing them. Numbers used to be very simple and easy to select months, days or years, now you have to tap, tap, tap, tap... until you get to the month or day you want. You might say, we can enter the dates by typing the numbers, but why? When in previous versions I could with 1 tap select January or December. Now if I want to go from, let’s say January 01, 2018 to December 2018 I have to tap “month” button 11 time! When in the past I would select “December” and done. This example applies to the the time as well. Apple has gone from making software as simple and as few taps possible to over complicated.
Not sure what issue others are having
by quizbuck on 2017/06/14 14:08
Other people seem to be having issues with the update not working. Mine installed immediately. Hopefully that will get fixed for the people who had that problem . I'm not sure what issues people are having with numbers, I've been relying on it for years and I've been really happy with it. Being able to plug in stocks has been really beneficial, the charts are easy to edit, and they've made formulas easy to work with. I'm happy with it.
Downgrade
by WDI on 2017/09/20 00:46
Version 3.3 Update: 4 stars for adding date keyboard back. Thanks Apple. Not 5 though because the old date keyboard was superior. Using increments is not as quick nor accurate as the old method. ——————- The thing I liked about iOS Numbers from the beginning was its ease of use. This update makes entering dates in forms tedious. Used to be a very simple no brain process. They removed the dates keyboard. Now you only get the regular keyboard when selecting fields formatted at date type. I hope this was only an over site and will be fixed quickly. Numbers used to easily be a five star app. Update: I really don't get why Apple seems to think adding shapes like animals etc is important in a spreadsheet program while they made entering dates, something done over and over and over and over again daily by literally anyone that uses the application, much more difficult task by removing the date keyboard?

It was the greatest
by Reed2011 on 2017/11/16 13:09
With the updates and improvements made it was a good attempt at making the app better however with the connection addon the app is a bust. Now you have to be connected to there server even to use the app. If you have connectivity issues u can’t even make changes. I’ve spent 30 min plus waiting for my app connect. I see what they were attempting but it’s a huge failure. It’s embarrassing when your trying to your colleagues how Efficient your are and the u hear game show music in the background.
Budgeting
by Proud_conservative on 2017/09/02 15:11
I used this app as a budgeting tool and until the last update, it worked. The most recent update to this app has made it almost entirely unusable. I have to spend 10 minutes trying to figure out how to enter a date (used to be a tab to do that with a button for today's date), there is no conditional formatting, entering text is a hassle because there is now a "function" to do that instead of the tab that there used to be, entering numbers doesn't overwrite the numbers that were there before time in my experience. This app used to be a gem for budgeting, but you have over complicated it for the sake of trying to add functionality. You really messed this app up.
Thank you.
Seems ok
by flurffmeister on 2017/09/22 23:42
I had to reboot my phone after installing the Numbers update for iOS 11 in order to get the new file browsing to work. It's not a perfect user interface for editing spreadsheets on the go, but that's a hard problem to solve and I think they did better than Microsoft and Google. On my phone, I typically drag and drop rows, type numbers into existing fields, check checkboxes. All of that works ok except dragging and dropping rows. Half the time I end up resizing the row (who EVER resizes a row manually, especially on a phone?!) and have to undo and try again.
Hard to use
by Wolfywolfywolfy on 2017/12/06 18:14
Apple used to be good at keeping things simple while still enabling full functionality. Somehow, recently, they’ve lost this ability. Numbers as well as many of the other apps they’ve messed with recently simply don’t function well. Things are no longer intuitive. Things that should be simple like toggling the keyboard don’t seem to exist. I want to give up on google and MS products but Apple makes it so hard to switch when they make such mediocre attempts to compete. If they would spend just five minutes looking at the Apple support forums, they would see everything that needs to be done. But they ignore and choose what’s important for us.
Numbers App version 4.3 has made my Apple Pencil useless on spreadsheets!
by Victorescon on 2018/12/19 06:50
I regret updating the Numbers App to version 4.3 because I couldn't use my Apple Pencil to move or edit spreadsheets. Every time I touched the screen with my Apple Pencil, it automatically changed to the drawing mode. I couldn’t find a button or a switch to turn this feature off on the app. TO SWITCH THE APPLE PENCIL MODE BACK TO SELECT AND SCROLL, GO TO THE NUMBERS APP IN SETTINGS! My rating reflects the fact that the new version of the app changed a lot of the settings that I need time to get use to.
What have you done?!
by Robosmurphys on 2018/06/21 18:51
I have tolerated using this app. It didn’t have all the neat little short-cuts that can be found in a specific similar program, but I enjoyed the convenience of having it right on my iPad. However, whatever you have done to the app is NOT GOOD!!!! I have entire documents that I cannot re-open so that information is GONE!!! I have trouble opening up new documents and many issues once I am actually in a document. I never know if the information I am storing in these documents will be accessible to me in the future, so you have lost my confidence. I do not recommend this app to anyone that is looking to keep their information in a safe and retrievable place.
Great app but something missing
by loner4sure on 2018/03/28 05:17
I find this app intuitive to use. I use Numbers and Pages on a regular basis. Once in a while I use keynote. While using numbers, pages or keynote, I’ve found I’m unable to create passwords on any of the documents on my tablet. The exception is if I use my MacBook to create them. Since I help or work with different people projects, I would like assign passwords instead of hiding files. I would gladly amend my rating when I’m able to create a password protected document on my tablet.
Updated review - great for on-the-go collaboration
by Peblëna on 2017/10/11 11:03
Had issues updating but it finally updated. Overall a great app to collaborate our household budget in real time. Not the easiest app to use on mobile but it gets the job done while on the go. I was contacted by someone from Apple’s team offering help from one of their engineers to get Numbers to finally update. I had resolved it myself by restoring my phone as deleting & reinstalling didn’t allow me to get the updated version.

by msdixie2000 on 2018/06/26 06:28
When the budget app I was using did not update for the new iOS version. I found myself not being able to open the app. So I went looking for a new app. I decided trade numbers because it’s apples developed and they will keep their own app going. It took me a while to get used to it but now I don’t know what I’d do without it. It keeps me on budget and actually having more money to spend because of that.

I love this product. I was able to do simple calculations for my travel planner and budgeting. Once you get a hang of it, this product is very easy to use. Easy access on my planners and it doesn’t take minutes rather than using something else on the computer. I’m really enjoying this app on my tablet and I’m definitely keeping this. I recommend this to people who are adapt in using modern techs!

by Hien C. on 2018/11/04 17:22
I’m coming from Google Sheets. This is way better for me. I have an iPhone SE and the scrolling, zooming, and data entry are night and day between the two. The toggles and the special keyboards for formulas, date/time, etc are indispensable, so much that I transitioned many of my most used Google Sheets to Numbers on macOS. It also helped that Numbers used way less memory and CPU on my old MacBook Pro than Sheets. Really appreciating the whole Apple ecosystem here.
Live it but....
by Khaliq Muhammad on 2018/08/12 20:45
I was using google sheets and once I figured out how to do the same and more with numbers, I never went back. The only complaint would be inability to do full screen without all the white header stuff at the top. This would look so much better for what I use it for on my iPad when I’m working. I’ve heard the feature was disabled in an update. For the life of me, I don’t understand why updates sometimes downgrade and remove useful features.
I love this app and use it all the time, but...
by virtualshift on 2018/12/28 11:00
Even on my brand new iPhone CS Max, this app is starting to feel very slow. This is the very first app I open up every morning when I get to work and I always have to wait a good 15 to 20 seconds to load up my previous file and it’s not even that big. I feel like this app is becoming very old and seriously needs a refresher on the programming.
Remarkable
by Lmoore2121 on 2018/09/20 14:13
I have used excel for many years, after I got my iPad I switch everything over to numbers. Numbers is as good , and better then excel. Easy to use, formulas are easy to learn. Everything works well, I back everything up to the cloud. Couldn’t be without this app, I do all my finances and budgets on it. You can use on trips, keep track of passwords and accounts, and etc. Great app
So. Unbelievably. Laggy.
by Squash Those Bugs on 2018/03/31 06:19
Update: Ever since the Pencil update and the iOS 11.3 update, this app has had fatal bugs. Formulas won’t get updated. Pasted cells will become blank. Data will be lost. This review used to be two stars. Now it’s one. Apple. This is embarrassing. — Frequently it’ll take half a second between a touch input on the keyboard and the corresponding character to be typed into the cell. This doesn’t happen in any other apps, so it’s not my phone’s processor speed. Even worse, very frequently my preset text replacements (Settings → General → Keyboard → Text Replacements) won’t trigger because of the lag. I use text replacements constantly in Numbers because many cells have the same or similar entries. I suspect there’s some sort of asynchronicity going on where the keyboard times out any text lookup if it takes too long. In other words, Numbers has such keyboard lag that it frequently triggers this timeout. Again, this doesn’t happen with any other app.

Broken
by yyzMan on 2019/07/14 12:51
Apple needs to focus on the basics.
This is the app I’ve used to balance my checkbook for years.

by Alailima on 2019/06/27 01:59
I grew up with Excel, so Numbers was neat but not nearly as powerful as Excel. Awesome!! -Larry

If you could help me make this stop you’d get 5 stars but till then it’s a 3. I’m using iPad Pro. Getting irritated cause there’s ZERO help for this 2 days still can’t figure it out.
Zoom
by Wild Terky on 2019/06/08 18:49
This app is wonderful I enjoy everything bout it, except for the zoom it’s set to default 100% and you can’t zoom out at all making any large chart useless in turn making the app useless. If it had a similar zoom and page layout setting to “pages” it would be the best chart app out there.
Help with the = input keyboard

Sad show
by KashandBiddy on 2019/05/30 15:32
Load the app, wait.....wait some more....wait even more....app is hung. Quit app, reload app, hangs. Reboot phone, load app, wait for it to crash, reload one last time to finally get to a single spreadsheet. I would be ashamed as a developer to have my name anywhere near such a poorly made app.

So bad

New User
by Joramick on 2019/05/01 12:08
I am new to the world of Apple specific software, such as “Pages”, “Numbers”, and such.

Updated is not better!
by BacktoiTunes on 2019/04/22 01:51
Latest update causes Numbers to lock-up while editing a spreadsheet that is password protected. To correct problem, I have to exit out of App and re-open the spreadsheet to resume. This problem has not been corrected in several updates now.

Did love...now frustrated
by Nonni love on 2019/04/17 23:29
I have used this app for probably a year or so and learned to love it. Now I keep getting a message that I need to download an update before using. When I click go now (to update), the App Store doesn't have an update option...only an "open" option. I click it, it takes me back to the app. I then get the same update message. HELP!!!!!

Can’t pull up recent spreadsheet
by Ptthom on 2019/04/10 04:27
It’s hit or miss lately on whether my spreadsheets will open from the cloud. The last few months have been frustrating. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
Recent update

One star
by RjCR11 on 2019/04/03 14:01
I’m giving it a one star just bc if the fact, I use numbers for almost 2 years and everything was great.

Thank you.

Very Good
by BUddyro 4454 on 2019/03/30 14:56
I have used this app for years with my job as a baseball scout.

Finally, Performance Improvements!
by Zackfletch00 on 2019/03/30 05:41
After at least a year or so of laggy, sub-par performance on my large spreadsheets, this late March update has finally changed all that. Numbers is now faster and more responsive than ever, and it’s about time. Apple, thank you. I was just about to give up on you this time (like I gave up on your App Store Connect app).
Really like it a lot !!!
by Jrktx65 on 2019/03/29 16:32

New problem
by Unhappy customer 007 on 2018/11/05 05:06
November 4, 2018 The same problem with the date we saw last year after switching back to standard time from daylight savings.
Anyway two thumbs up for this software that, if even amateurs like me can use, And the nifty free human service Apple provides us with, first-rate tech-support.
useless. loss of once great features.
by There'sAFrogInMyTent on 2017/07/19 03:37
I thought it was just me not understanding how to enter dates and durations as easily as I did in previous versions.
Went back to excel.
by Redlightning_1 on 2019/02/15 22:08
I used this app a lot when I could adjust margins.
Very Good

Thanks.
Amazing
by philip4g on 2018/10/24 06:06
I am a power user of desktop Excel.
Furious!!!
by ArtistCarl on 2017/09/18 17:38
I've spent the last two weeks at work creating a spreadsheet that details price/feature comparisons between our products and the competition (iPad mini, latest iOS release).
God awful

Thank you.
Seems ok
by flurffmeister on 2017/09/22 23:42
I had to reboot my phone after installing the Numbers update for iOS 11 in order to get the new file browsing to work.
Budget friendly
by msdixie2000 on 2018/06/26 06:28
When the budget app I was using did not update for the new iOS version. I found myself not being able to open the app. So I went looking for a new app. I decided trade numbers because it’s apples developed and they will keep their own app going. It took me a while to get used to it but now I don’t know what I’d do without it. It keeps me on budget and actually having more money to spend because of that.
Better than nothing

I love this product. I was able to do simple calculations for my travel planner and budgeting. Once you get a hang of it, this product is very easy to use. Easy access on my planners and it doesn’t take minutes rather than using something else on the computer. I’m really enjoying this app on my tablet and I’m definitely keeping this. I recommend this to people who are adapt in using modern techs!
Wow...
by Hien C. on 2018/11/04 17:22
I’m coming from Google Sheets.
