Can’t play pro tabs anymore?
by Tyler Hogg on 2019/05/20 14:34
I paid for the app a while ago and now I find that I can’t play with pro tabs anymore because I need a subscription? That’s not cool.

I thinks it’s dumb you have to pay to transpose
Great App
by SamsonsLoch on 2019/05/19 21:31
Great app. I’ve only found songs that don’t have any tabs. Somehow you get gifted the pro version which is cool!
Love this app!
by SJH_64 on 2019/05/19 20:52
It’s super helpful and easy to use.
Unbeatable, incredible, super convenient!!
by Makellkell5 on 2019/05/19 20:27
My friend introduced me to this app when I was learning how to play guitar. I’ve been through many other apps for guitar chords, but this one takes the cake. The simplify, transpose, and metronome features are unbeatable and incredibly convenient. I will say, it would be nice to be able to play the metronome while looking at the chords, but that’s the only issue I have and I’ve found ways to work around it. If you want free guitar or ukulele tabs or chords, this is the best place to find them!
Great

Very good for learn chord
Best app for every level
by Boskee on 2019/05/19 17:39
I’ve used this app from the moment I started teaching myself 5 years ago still to this day. Great variety of choices and such fo the songs.

by RUDE-DUDE on 2019/05/19 17:17
I really love this app and all the people that continue to add songs and grow the library of music! Simply the best Guitar Music app anywhere. Thanks
Absolutely recommend for any guitar players
by PersonoCesarA on 2019/05/19 04:16
I have used this app for so long it helped me learn a lot from these past months. It’s very easy to use and easy to learn how to play songs. Highly recommend for beginners to learn new songs. Overall this app is great for any user who wants to learn new songs, since it has a wide variety of songs from old to new. Best App EVER!!!!!!
Ruined by ads!!!
by Bryan492710384628q on 2019/05/19 02:48
This used to be a great app but since they added ads, it doesn’t allow for media playback while looking at songs. Mid page ads override music playback. Makes the app pretty useless at this point.
Great features
by kidscontent on 2019/05/19 01:41
So many different integrated functions. Love this!
The best
by Panic316 on 2019/05/18 21:42
Been using this app for years. Anytime (almost) every time I hear a song I want to learn I come here and find it in one form or another. I really can’t complain. It’s solid, great guitar community with lessons, articles, and free guitar give always. Thank you much
Without Question.

This is the best Guitar App, period. Goes way beyond just tabs.

Great app for finding any song!!
Awesome!
by Randomite10 on 2019/05/17 21:10
I am one of those ukulele teen girls, but this app is perfect for it. Though it’s directed at guitar-players, they do have a large amount of uke tabs that I am able to use. You’re able to transpose the music to test out different keys and the app shows you the fingerings of the chords. The only thing I’d ask for is to be able to use the app to make my own tabs rather than having to use a computer, it would make everything a lot more simple. But on top of that, I praise that this is a platform where people can make their own tabs, whether it’s for well-known songs or their own songs. Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s great!
Many problems
by Rekitjr on 2019/05/17 19:54
The biggest problem that I have is that auto scroll doesn’t work in keeping my screen open. It keeps going to sleep. Making it unusable when trying to play a song. Also purchases don’t cross over iOS. Account should work on all my devices. There are better apps for this
Why can’t I print
by ABanjovi on 2019/05/17 17:51
I’ve owned this app for a long time but I haven’t used for awhile. I tried to print a song and it says I need to get the professional version. Please, I just go around and sing songs in old folks’ homes. Can’t I just get a printable download?
Deleting features
by madguitarist294 on 2019/05/17 17:03
I’ve used this app for 6 years and every update is just another feature they take away and make you pay for. Now the free app isn’t as good as using your web browser since you can’t even use auto scroll without paying $8 a month. Stupid.
Lost my library ? Paid for lifetime membership .
by bryan1855 on 2019/05/17 15:36
I have truly enjoyed using the app, but I paid for a lifetime membership several years ago. Now that it has been changed/updated, I can no longer access my songs and it seems that there is more $ involved. Maybe I am missing something that is not clear, so I will update review when resolved.
Changed so much (bad)
by 135599418 on 2019/05/16 23:56
I’ve used this app for years and years loving it. I’ve never updated it because I just forget sometimes, but since it worked perfectly I didn’t need to. I had switched phones and had to re download apps and the new version of this app is so disappointing. I lost the ability to transpose which is extremely detrimental. While playing along with tabs, ad videos now pop up when scrolling which takes the ability to use the app while performing, off the table. This all seems like the developer are taking advantage of the way mobile apps take advantage of customer especially since the website lets me transpose and play along without annoying apps. As someone who has used this app since a young kid and even partially learned guitar through the app, I find it disappointing to have to pay a fee to use the app as I always have
Unusable when free
by Zibatox on 2019/05/16 23:50
App’s commercials cut audio, making useless to use along any kind of track without paying to remove commercials.
All I’ve ever wanted is to pick this guitar and sing
by k8sDream on 2019/05/16 23:23
Just played “Chasin That Neon Rainbow” 1st time thru; did great with these tabs but can u maybe add like a link at each chord that shows how to actually play it on the guitar (like a 6-sec vid showing the fingers & a strum thru!) for those of us who r #absolutebeginners?!🤣 [Lord won’tcha help me with the bar chords!😅😭😂 #myhanddoesntbendthatway!🤣] thx for great app!🤘😜👍
Good app
by sassy grill on 2019/05/16 19:38
I love this app because the tabs are so good and also you can make personal edits to a tab. You can favorite tabs and make playlists full of all your favorite tabs. I love this app to help me learn new chords and tabs for guitar ukulele and bass. ❤️❤️
Subscription required now
by nicorico4 on 2019/05/16 18:38
Used to have this app on Android and bought the pro version for a couple bucks, which had the autoscroll feature and all tabs unlocked. Switched to IOS and now I need a subscription just to use autoscroll or the official tabs? I’m not going to buy a subscription to use the features that were included before. Bring back the pro version app and stop being greedy for money. Used to be a 5 star fantastic app.
This is a great app!
by Mark55B on 2019/05/16 03:04
This is by far the best app I’ve found! Well worth the money! Get it! Now!
GET RID OF SHOTS
by No emoji655576 on 2019/05/16 02:25
please please please give me the option to at least hide shots. I want a guitar learning app not a social media app...
I can’t figure out how to use it without upgrading to pro?
by see-oh-you-are-tee-en-ee-why on 2019/05/15 21:10
It would be fine if it advertised itself as a pay-only service but I thought there was at least some free abilities. Unless I’m just tech illiterate and can’t figure it out
Garbage app
by Skawiggy on 2019/05/15 03:42
Total garbage. Not a time saver from the website. The tabs are not in any standard format. No way am I buying something that is so unregulated. Total crap.
Freaking awesome
by PatriotsBrady99 on 2019/05/15 00:14
Best app ever for any point in playing guitar. Wether you are a beginner or a pro. Tells you chords for thousands of songs and if you don’t know the chords, the app can show you that too. Also if you want you can show off your guitar playing by posting you playing the song. You can also see other people’s skills and you can learn new songs in the process! Five stars for me!👍🏻
Where’s customer service??
by Dottydaga on 2019/05/14 23:53
I like the app basically since it has a great directory for all kinds of chords for millions of songs. However whenever I was logged out of my account several weeks ago and after reaching out to CSR, twice, they never gave me a solution to my problem. I lost my account where I had saved so many chords , and even though I did have my log in and passwords correct it wouldn’t still let me use it. It’s been very disappointing to say the least. Specially because I do enjoy using it but this has already happened to me more than twice. 👎🏼
New update made it worse

Just wanted to use this to shout out to the developers of this app. Truly a great and useful tool in any musicians arsenal
Enjoyable until it ceased to load
by Once Tubby on 2019/05/14 01:43
I am a beginner, and have enjoyed this app very much in my first year of playing. You did exactly what you said it would do — help me learn. Then, about two months ago it ceased to work; first intermittently and now pretty much all together. I can find songs but they simply won’t load. Your health side suggested that I deleted and reloaded, which I have done. This has not helped. I hate to say I have to drop the program because I’ve enjoyed it very much, but for the last two months it has not been worth anything, really. Hope you can fix the program, because I would certainly be happy to keep paying for it if it functioned.
Most used app on my phone
by RevvOtho on 2019/05/14 01:33
This app is incredible, I use it more than any other app on my phone. Definitely worth the $2.99 lol
Long time UG user
by selibucaz on 2019/05/14 01:13
Great app, I just wish there was something for the forums. (UG FTW / the pit) Perfect for learning songs though.
Plz read. Important Info.
by Ells114 on 2019/05/14 01:01
I USED to LOVE this app!!! It was so amazing and well put together! I would spend hours on it but now.... it stinks. I get u need to make money off of this app but you make it hard to learn!! The simplify button costs money, making it difficult to even want to learn more songs if I know I can’t because the songs are above my skill set. And the print bottom now costs $$$$$. I would print out songs here and then go back on the app to perfect or something like that. Now I can’t print making it hard to have a physical copy of it causing me to just want to stop using this app. I think u should not download this app but whatever.
Amazing!

I was too lazy to search up tutorials on youtube. Luckily, this app was created. Thank you!

by taxisteve929 on 2019/05/14 00:00
Just back for another review. It is still easily the best thing available to guitar players on the Internet. I use the Chord/Tabs search often, and find myself making minor adjustments for my own playing style, but with all the players rating the chords/tabs, it's not difficult to find which one is closest to the jukebox version, and I like that people are including acoustic and finger style versions as well as other instruments and beginner stuff. I do like to figure out songs on my own, and will often just come here to check out what I am playing against what others have come up with. Just another great tool to have, and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who use it who are professionals, even though they wouldn't tell you they do! LOL keep up the great work! A great App I use often when on the go! A quick way to get rated tabs and chords that saves time when you need them quick and have't got time to work it out. Although I agree that the tools additional cost should have been more obvious, bought them and they're fantastic! Having several voicings of each chord allows you to work on new songs even if your guitar's not with you. (but my Taylor mini GS is just about always with me) And you can even get the finger picking sounds since you can pick notes separately fairly quick. If I have a guitar, I have a snark tuner, so only use the tuner when my battery dies, but it's there if I need it, and for 4 bucks for the tools, a great buy!! Love it and highly recommend for any level player on the go!! Also helps in learning. Sure I can transpose on my own, but it takes more time than I have sometimes, so this is quick and accurate!! Thank you for a GREAT product!! Steve

This app is good but it doesn’t have enough options for ukulele songs. I have many friends who also play the ukulele and use this app but we are all limited by the lack of ukulele chords there are for lots of songs but over all this is a great app thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn more about at instrument I love.

Listening does not work
by anynamethatisnottaking_geez on 2019/05/13 20:35
Most the listening functions do not work. There should be more functioning listening and scrolling the tabs for learning
Love the app.
by Dirtbag Dave on 2019/05/13 19:59
This is such a useful tool for musicians. The only thing I wish the developers would change is I wish the songs would reset to the top when they are opened instead of going back to the end or wherever you left off. It just seems like it adds an extra unnecessary action when you are trying to start a song.
Great selection, a few flaws
by jesus everything is taken on 2019/05/13 17:15
They have a great selection of music to choose from, but these are not transcribed by professional music transcribers. The music is all done by random individuals so the quality of the transcription is variable, at best. As a beginner music player, it would be very helpful to see the chord chart at the top of the page. That’s not available on any of the printed sheets. I also don’t play guitar as a primary instrument. I have to choose my instrument every single time I choose a new song. It would be great if it would remember my instrument of choice.
Great site

Great learning tool
I love tabs!!
by happiest 💕 on 2019/05/13 13:21
Omg!! It allows me to be free with my singing and all that!! I am confused though. Why is there a G on the app if it is called tabs?? I wonder that all the time. Thanks for taking time reading bye
Best source for tabs
by Kumu95 on 2019/05/13 03:17
Been using ultimate guitar since before they even had an app and I have learned so much from them
So useful
by mr. dinamite on 2019/05/13 00:16
I take lessons and it takes my teacher a while to write the tabs so now I can just pull up the tab on my phone
Was good now...
by jettleg on 2019/05/12 22:48
I understand adds are a part of free versions of apps. And while that’s fine and dandy it’s a pain when you’re playing a song and it gets paused every 10 seconds to play the ad. Sometimes it just won’t let you play music in the background at all.
Nothing but nagware
by JagnoTheFett on 2019/05/12 21:16
The website blocks elements and shows pop ups and ads every 15 seconds to try and get you to download the app. When you finally do, guess what? Constant nagging to upgrade to pro -- every single view in the app is laced with ads and you have to poke around endlessly to find the free content. Content, by the way, that was NOT created by this company. They simply aggregated and bought community made tabs from all over the web and crushed open source competitors into dust. Thanks for ruining tabs Ultimate Guitar! 🎸💩
Great app!
by I hate fortune teller on 2019/05/12 20:34
This app provides you with tons of great tabs, for any wide variety of songs. Also with backing tracks, definitely recommend.
Lost everything I paid for
by Angry joe21 on 2019/05/12 18:13
I bought the full version package about 10 months ago and had no problem until now. I lost everything so I could not access full version if anyone knows why this is doing this than respond as soon as possible. Best regard Tom

Awesome app for beginner musicians.
Great app
by Roach8 on 2019/05/12 17:48
I’ve been using this app for years. Whether you’re wanting to be a lead guitarist or just strum and sing, there’s thousands of songs all at your fingertips. My favorite little part of the app is the ability to transpose a song with the press of a button. Instead of counting the chord numbers and doing it myself, I can hit a few buttons and have the song transposed to my key as opposed to using a capo or counting the chord numbers. Helps me to get the lower sound of open chords as opposed to barring them or putting a capo on the 3rd or 4th fret. Great app
Worship help

It’s the best app for beginners! It has a couple of adds that will interrupt, but you can see the cords listen to them and play the. By far the best guitar app I’ve ever used!

Lots of content, too many bugs
by College student 2472 on 2019/05/12 01:16
There’s a lot of content, which is nice. Since a lot of the content is user generated, you have to be mindful of errors (in most songs). The developer implementation of the app itself is very poor, unfortunately :/ and the user experience suffers: - “official” tabs are usually the most musically accurate, but they are slow to load and occasionally crash the app. - when “playing” the official tabs, the words are highlighted and synchronized with music, but the scrolling is the wrong tempo, which makes it impossible to not take your hand off your instrument and fix the app while playing along. If you change the tempo, the scroll AND music slow down, so it still scrolls at the wrong speed. Clearly the app knows which word / chord is being played, so why would it scroll that line off the screen? - when “playing” songs with linked music through Spotify, you have to sign in to Spotify EVERY TIME you open the app. Just cache the web session with a cookie please! - using the Spotify music player often crashes the app. - when a tab has chords and “pro” sheet music, a favorite bookmark always opens the sheet music even when you favorite the chords. The sheet music is slow to load (and crashes the app occasionally), so this is really inconvenient. It should open the page you bookmarked. - for no obvious reason, the tabs remember your last position (who thought this was a good idea?). That means if you play through a tab to the end and leave (the normal use case), the next time you open the tab it scrolls you to the end of the song... Those are some of the most egregious bugs, there rest are less important. It seems like the iOS development team is either inexperienced or poorly managed and they must not have robust usability testing. I waited 6 months for improvements, but nothing has improved. They did add more “social media”-esque features, which in my opinion are uninteresting and useless. The dev team really needs to set better priorities. Are most people using this app as a form of social media? Probably not. What are they probably using it for? The music tabs. Then, why not focus on making the music tab experience better instead of adding tons social media-like features? Hope I gave some useful feedback. I’m not sure if there’s a better app out there or not. Maybe one day they’ll fix these bugs.
Disappointed
by MarkelTablet on 2019/05/12 00:22
When I first got the app, it was working fine, ads weren’t too annoying. But then when I wanted to save tabs it would say that there was an error and it wouldn’t save them. This is really frustrating because I don’t want to have to look them up whenever I want to play. It’s also really annoying that the crappy tabs are free and that you have to pay for good tabs.

Great app
by cool4dee on 2019/05/11 21:09
This truly is a great app. I’ve been playing guitar for almost two years now, and this app has been a really great help. The price of the app isn’t bad and well worth it. It teaches you multiple things; it isn’t just chords and tabs. Would recommend to anyone who plays, or would like to learn more about guitar.

:/
by calthewitch on 2019/05/11 04:20
It's pretty good until you realize you have to pay to play pretty much the good version of every song. For a while you can get by with tabs that Mostly sound like the song, but they're usually needlessly complicated. If you're not planning on buying a subscription don't use this app. Just use the browser version on desktop if you want the good tabs.
It’s been good since the beginning 👍🏼
by mweeder on 2019/05/11 02:23
I’ve used you guys since I was a child, and I’ve always enjoyed the content and using the interface. Thank you for keeping it going all this time 👍🏼
Off time tabs and just glitchy
by fudgepie on 2019/05/11 01:45
This app is great but recently when using the pro tabs the music plays off time from the actual tab making it very difficult to learn new songs and is just glitchy in general and they don’t seem to care about reviews from customers so downgrading from 4 to a 1
Why I love Ultimate Guitar
by bctesla on 2019/05/11 00:35
I hear a tune out in the world and it sticks in my head . I simply open our app and there are everybody else’s music notation as to how to play the tune . Mostly completely accurate. I grab my guitar and get so happy as I am playing the tune in minutes . If I could give 10 stars I would . Thank you , Charles shredder from Los Angeles

Include search area for tab playlist
by JudeP2018 on 2019/05/10 22:42
Awesome app but app crashes when moving tabs between playlists, and sometimes requires a restart of phone to be able to launch properly again. Also, I have a Playlist of 200+tabs but if I need to find one which I know I have I need to search for it in the app like I am searching for it for the first time because the app doesn't have a search within playlists.
It’s awesome but...

I LOVE this app, I have so much fun and I grew so much with guitar because of this app. But whenever I try to post a video lately, the video would just freeze and not upload, and whenever I want to watch it, the app crashes! If you guys can fix this I would appreciate it! But please... fix this!
Money hogs, don’t suggest this app
by Skylift9 on 2019/05/10 19:24
Songs I want to learn I have to upgrade to pro for yet I could go onto YouTube and learn songs faster and for free. I don’t suggest this app for learning guitar. Use YouTube it’s better and free. Thanks for making me pay for stuff. Lucky I’m not an idiot
Extremely powerful app, for pro users
by Mr. Puffball on 2019/05/10 13:18
I think this app is really good and it was revolutionary for when I was a beginner first starting out. It introduced me to so many tablatures, and made things so much smoother. Using MIDI rather than a live recording is a blessing and a curse. You can slow down the recording as much as you want without distorting the track which is super helpful. However, the MIDI is sometimes a bit too straight and rigid when the song is supposed to be expressive. But that’s something you can’t really work around with MIDI, it’s just something we all have to deal with. I also have to say I really love your UG Official team is, every time I see a comment on an official tab, there is always someone responding to what they say, providing help or fixing a problem with the tablature. I think you guys are doing great work with one of, if not the largest amount high quality tabs, that really help. ESPECIALLY with beginners. I guess if I had to make one critical comment it would be to not make every official tab solely available on pro. I think you should allow non-pro users to have a certain amount of pro tabs a week or a month, and they have to upgrade in order to have unlimited. A lot of novices would benefit greatly from having access to at least a few popular but high quality tabs, because a lot of people have doubts on if they want to spend actual money on playing the guitar because they don’t know if it’s going to be worth while in the long run. And, maybe after having access to a few pro tabs, they would want to pay for more.
It is ok
by jamessholes3 on 2019/05/10 12:08
I love this app to look up how to play songs on my guitar but the only problem with this app is that you have to have a membership to access everything like auto scroll And the metronome and the official cords it just pops up an add for you to buy the membership so if you want a good app for tools I recommend GuitarTuna it has a metronome. GuitarTuna also has a good tuner for beginners. To get the membership on GuitarTuna you only have to pay one time. GuitarTuna also has games to strengthen your guitar skills. Also has a cord Library. Over all I recommend GuitarTuna for all the reasons above -

Cannot purchase Pro on family member phone
by TerryF2 on 2019/05/09 16:06
When she tries to purchase Pro she gets the message: Enable in-app purchases on your device to proceed: Settings > General > Restrictions > In-app purchase > ON That location does not exist. iOS 12.2, iPhone 6S+, 128 GB. The location also does not exist on my phone, same specs only newer and bigger. I would purchase on my phone except that under this app in the App Store it says: add-on purchases cannot be shared among family members. I hope you have a fix, otherwise the app is pretty much useless.

Pretty Accurate!
by Bar1char on 2019/05/09 01:59
As our songlist is always expanding, I need one place to go to for charts. I’ve found this service to be very reliable, and I use it first every time. If you use SongSheet Pro, these charts export cleanly and the chords appear as chord inserts (which is what you’d want).

Worthless app
by fhsjdhsjfhskf on 2019/05/08 02:09
You can get everything it does for free just by knowing how to search. Not only that, but the shameless commercialism is so offsetting that it makes the app feel more like McDonald’s than The French Laundry. What’s extra sad is the way their app and website clash, both with and without purchases it’s simply a jumble and they don’t play well together.
So much fun!

Please let me skip
by arsonistt on 2019/05/07 20:10
There is only one problem with this app and it’s a very small one so I’m still giving it 5 stars. I usually need tabs every once in a while on the spot and it’s a bit annoying to have to press the button five times to skip through the greeting/update/whatever especially if my app is being slow. There should really be a skip button. That’s all. Keep doing what you’re doing!
They took everything I paid for away
by Drwho0204 on 2018/02/01 12:56
About six months ago maybe longer I bought the premium package deal thing. I mainly used it for the interactive tabs. Loved all the new features. I don’t know if this is a bug or something y’all planned but everything I paid for is not available anymore. It says that I need to upgrade to the full version. I already own it and I’m not paying for it again. I don’t know if you thought you could take it away and give it back after I payed for it again, but I’m not buying it agains. I truly hope this is a bug because I loved the app, but after this I don’t think anyone should it if they are going to steal your money Alright disregard my last post. During the full version deal there was a timer. It wouldn’t let me use any of the features I purchased. The full version deal would show up every time I tried to do anything that required the full version. After the timer went away it still wouldn’t let me access it. I waited a day to see if anything would happen. Nothing happened. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. It now lets me use everything that I bought. I am so thankful this was bug because I loved the app. Other than an actual guitar tutor this is the best place to learn. I would highly recommend the full version as it is very useful.
One sweet app
by carriosity on 2018/06/28 13:57
I grew up in a family where making music was an everyday occurrence. My dad played guitar and banjo. I started playing rhythm guitar when I was about 13. But then life happened and when I was about 29 years old, I lost my guitar in a divorce and haven’t had one since. (Warning...don’t get into a bad marriage with a musician). That was more than 20 years ago. Just bought an Epiphone acoustic and I’m shocked at how quickly muscle memory and strumming patterns are coming back. Except my old lady brain can’t automatically find the right chords for songs the way it used to. This app has seriously helped with this issue. So far, I have not thought of one song that I want to play that this app doesn’t include. Add to that, the ability to listen to new songs, and play along if you want, right in the app...that’s just awesome. I can’t read tabs but I may learn since that’s included as well. Anyway, thanks to the developers for this unusually helpful and functional product. Thanks to Ultimate Guitar, my husband, who is a drummer and has never picked up a guitar before, is now learning as well. 👍🏼
Great for practicing musicians
by elijahstinkinmarth on 2019/03/01 00:23
I use this app all the time to learn new songs, or practice songs I have forgotten. The tabs work well for guitar, but I mostly use it for piano actually. The chord charts have really great features, and are very easy to use. Transposing, auto scrolling, and the ability to make playlists are all incredibly convenient, as they allow me to play great songs in keys I can actually sing in, and save those songs for easy reference. The library/catalog of songs is extensive. Very rarely do I search a song and find it doesn’t have some kind of tab. The “versions” feature functions flawlessly, which is great for when I may need to switch between more (or less) difficult/technical interpretations of the same song, or for comparing sections of songs where some tabs are more accurate than others. Having written several tabs as well, I can say that the creating process is very well thought out also. Overall, this is a great app for anyone looking to have fun playing songs they know and love (on most any instrument), and an essential app for any serious musician.
Why?
by Hghbodsfhi on 2018/07/28 20:46
I struggle with note names and such so I use tabs which are a lot easier for me. I look on the web for some songs and I just cannot find them so I found this app and saw their extensive library of tabs songs and thought, “I could use this for almost any song I could think of!” Until I pressed a song I wanted and their were no tabs, then I see a button that says “view official tabs” I press it and I am greeted with a man asking me to BUY a subscription. I exit out of it and it automatically exits the tabs. I tried it again and the same thing happened. Then I realized that the whole app was a cash grab to exploit people’s love of guitar and/or music. Disgusting. Why can’t I just learn music casually without someone wanting me to pay far too much for a couple songs I want to learn on my own time? These people who made the app obviously don’t have a love of music and or guitar, they have too much greed, they try to make money off of others love of something that is already expensive enough. If anyone who is thinking of getting this app is reading this, don’t. If anyone who made or helped make this app just know that I am disgusted and I am sure many others are as well in the way you exploit people’s love in music.
Revised Review - much better on second look
by AttendeeX on 2018/12/31 04:11
I struggled with my first try of the app at the free membership level (see old review below - probably was trying to use a "Pro" tab while at free membership tier). Given the overwhelming positive reviews I switched to the web version, thinking "it can't be this bad - has to be me". It was me. I had such better luck with the web version that I upgraded my subscription for use on the laptop. Now, with a little familiarity, life is way better in the app too. Plenty of novice-level tabs available. I'm using favorites, playlists, requesting new tabs from the community and authoring my own. Ultimate Guitar is my daily practice partner. Wouldn't want to live without it. Already well worth the annual subscription and will get more value as my playing improves. [OLD REVIEW]Sorry, unusable here. Every time I click on the song I want to see I get the video ad to upgrade to pro. Dismiss the ad and I'm back in the main menu. I can't tell that this is anything but spam. Not enticing me to upgrade.[/OLD REVIEW]
Need much improvement.
by MisterCap88 on 2017/12/10 23:30
Many of the tabs I have used have been fairly decent. But many of them absolutely terrible. When you use the interactive tab, most of the music that goes along with the tabs aren’t matched with the tabs themselves. So the tabs being played on the interactive fretboard, aren’t going along with the music making it very difficult to play along or learn. There’s is also the brain and chromatic tuner problem. When using the brain tuner, I need to reset the app each time because it won’t make any sound for me to hear. With the chromatic tuner, I can play an E and it’s trying to tune a G. The tuner cannot pick up the string I’m trying to tune. Which isn’t a huge deal, it is a tuner on a phone. Lastly, I spent about $15 on this app with upgrades and I have nothing. Not sure what my money went towards, but the app keeps asking me to pay to get new features that I was under the impression I already had. When purchasing, it said I had all features, so still very confused. But what I have learned from this app has been good, lots of great tabs to choose from, just wish it functioned better, and wish I got my money’s worth.
Lying to make a few bucks off of me
by Meeklekinz on 2018/09/19 18:05
I have been a devout user of Ultimate Guitar since probably 2008. I have always appreciated them as they always have always been a dependable source for me. Even when they finally created a smartphone app. I was all on board to pay for it. Recently, I decided to try out the pro side of things. I liked the features, but I have to admit, I hit a pretty rough spot financially, so I needed to cut back on a lot of small things. Like a monthly $7.99 charge. Well, after I couldn’t figure out how to cancel (users fault, I admit) I contacted UG and asked them to help cancel my subscription. They swore up and down that it was apples subscription and I needed to take it up with them. So I tried to figure it out to no avail. A month went by and I admittedly forgot because a lot went on. Another charge. So I contacted UG. Same response swearing up and down it isn’t them. So I contact apple and they point out that it is UG making the charges. I finally figure out how and where to manage my subscription and cancel it. I know I am at fault for being an idiot and not knowing how to cancel it myself. But why in the world would you guys not just help me out?? Screw you and I hope that extra cash you got from me makes all the difference in your lives.
Was once a great app, not anymore
by SarahIsABaker on 2018/03/01 05:25
I’ve been using this app for years, and loved it. I paid for the app when it was a flat fee, and once they started adding more features I paid for those too. I used to use it all the time to learn new tabs. It used to be a 5 star app, that I recommended to anyone who plays the guitar or ukulele. With this new update, it’s useless. Constantly crashes, seems to have a mind of its own opening and closing tabs, speeding up and down when auto scrolling (going from .5 speed to 1.5 for example, on its own half way through a song) This is extremely frustrating when you’re trying to learn a new song, especially when you’ve paid for the service. I’ve sent two emails to the developers via the app, and never heard back, which is why I’m finally posting a review, since it appears they don’t care. I have the iPhone X, so it shouldn’t be an issue of compatibility. The update seemed great at first until I discovered all the problems. It seems like they were too focused on getting the update live, and ignored the fact it obviously wasn’t ready. I kept hoping they would fix it, but I tried using it again just a couple minutes ago before writing a review and it’s still has all these issues.
My favorite guitar site!
by roadapple_gl on 2018/10/02 02:24
Thanks for this. I use this app more than any other. I can learn chord progressions, lyrics and most anything that I need for playing out, playing new songs in worship service, or just for fun. I invested in a pro account a few years ago and I highly recommend it! You can learn how to play a song in the same key as the original recording, or in a simpler progression to match your skill level; or to a key that is easier to sing with. There are a ton of great songs on this site, in just about every genre you can think of... for acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass (electric and acoustic), piano, violin and even ukulele! Most people making comments on this site are trying to be helpful, although there are always some that are quick to criticize, but offer no correction or suggestions; but unfortunately, you will find that on just about any site on the net. Give the Ultimate Guitar app a fair try, and I am sure you will find something useful to help you get to your next evolution of your guitar journey.
The Best
by hellohellohello1209 on 2018/05/09 15:32
Been using this site for my tab needs ever since I started playing. And saying that it has been an awesome experience would be an understatement. There are new tabs being posted constantly. There are almost always multiple renditions of the same song depending on your difficulty level (which really helped me progress). And such a personal company that I was able to send in a suggestion to improve the site, and within a few weeks the new feature was added. Whenever I go to any other tab platform, I end up feeling discouraged by the lack of interactivity and personalization ultimate guitar provides, especially if you spend the couple bucks for tab pro. Then wait around for Black Friday and pick up a lifetime subscription for like 60 bucks. The community is also an awesome point that must be touched on. All constructive feed back. And whenever you feel a tab is a little off, you can go to the feedback and usually someone has already posted the solution.
Hello from Tennessee
by brianjames8282 on 2019/02/19 01:37
I am a 36 year old bass musician who plays at local bars and in my at home studio. I love that I can look up almost any song in your search bar and have the tablature right in front of me. Not only for the bass, but I can get tabs for lead and rhythm guitar, mandolin or any other instrument that was used to record that particular song. The reason I gave the app 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the accuracy of some of the tabs. I know that most of them were written by users and are the users interpretations of the song. Also several versions are usually available but sometimes the tabs are so far away from what was actually written by the artist that it could be a completely different song altogether. It just seems like there should be some kind of proof reading/editing. At least for the tabs that have such a large difference from what the original artist wrote. Other than that I love the app! It has helped me learn songs for years. Keep up the good work and please take my criticism as constructive. Thanks.
Greatest thing since sliced bread...
by Tex B on 2018/07/23 00:46
I started playing the ukulele about eight months ago. I was pretty well organized I had set up files for each song and put the research that I was able to find off the Internet into each of the file folders set up for each of the songs. It’s a lot of work. With this app you have everything you want in one place. Somebody has already done the research for you and has found the tabs, solos, the actual song itself and then the lyrics. This is the only app and in fact it’s the only place that you can find all of these needed tools in one place. I spent a lot of time consuming hours finding this same information and putting it together myself. You don’t need to do that or do what I did because all you need is this app. So going forward now when I learned a new song I don’t have to spend half the time researching and locate in the information. With this app I can now just identify the song and start playing. Thank you.
Disappointed
by maria_gomez on 2018/09/22 22:46
I really enjoy guitar tabs. It makes it very easy to learn tabs and learn new songs. Guitar Tabs has been a really helpful tool while learning how to play guitar. There is one flaw though, a few months ago, I did a free trial for I believe 30 days. When it was done I deleted my pro account, but weeks later I found it was still saying I had a pro account. I checked my credit card to see if it was still charging me, and yes it was. I went to account settings to delete it, but there was no way to delete the account. I looked up how and it seemed impossible to get off my pro account. Sadly, I decided the only way to get off pro was to delete my account. I was very sad to do this because I thoroughly enjoyed using this app, but there seemed no other way around it. When I went to delete my account I found there was also no way to delete my account. I looked up how, but as before, it seemed impossible. I couldn’t just delete my account, I would still be paying for the account. Today still, I don’t know what to do. I would suggest you don’t get this app because they literally make it impossible to get rid of it.
Long time paying customer conned by ultimate guitar
by ripped off by ultimate guitar on 2019/03/07 13:56
I bought this app probably about 8 years ago when it cost 5 or 6 bucks. Pretty expensive for an app back then. Anyway you didn’t need to login to an account, and there were a few more free features included like free chord charts. Anyway, somewhere along the line they decided to make the app free and then charge you like 8 bucks a month for all the features that used to come when you just bought the app, and since I had not created an account I got completely screwed out of the money I paid for the app and now can’t even use the features I used to have access to. When I tried to email customer service about this to try and get my features back they were not helpful at all! They essentially called me a liar by trying to poke holes in my story and never once tried to right THEIR wrong. Never left a review for anything on line, but I have also never been this furious about the way I have been treated. I feel like trying to get someone to pay for the same thing twice is the definition of a con. Can not believe ultimate guitar, shame on them, I will find a different tab website to use. Would rate zero stars if I could.
Crashes occasionally, but still provides a great service
by TheFlyingM on 2019/04/23 22:09
Haven’t purchased a pro membership, but the free tabs they offer are great. Definitely my go-to source for guitar tab, and the app makes browsing on mobile much easier than in a web browser (though I gotta admit the way the website pushes you to download the app is pretty annoying). Occasionally the app freezes unexpectedly when looking at tabs. Only way I’ve been able to fix it is by killing the app and restarting, and even then I have to wait 5-10 seconds on restart before it reloads to the home page. Then have to find the tab I was on again, which sometimes isn’t the easiest if you’re like me and browse a lot of different tabs for the same song: then your search history is filled with links to every individual tab that you’ve viewed for that song. Ended up just signing in to my account so I could favorite tabs. It’s still pretty annoying to have the app crash in the middle of practicing though.

Yes, it is not all inclusive if every single aspect of the music industry, but expecting that of anything in any culture or app is ridiculous. What it DOES have is a huge selection, with input from common folk like myself up to the big wig professionals and bands we all idolize and adore. I have been able to teach myself so much that I never knew was out there, on multiple instruments, thanks to this app. I first discovered it several years ago when it was just a website, and now as they features are added to this app and are continuously improved upon, I continue to find new information and aspects that push me and drive me to learn. My band I am in that is trying to make it big has been able to use this as an amazing resource as well. They are also fantastic at responding to customers and their reviews, and making sure that everyone has the best experience possible. Thank you Ultimate-Guitar!
Great App, Very Useful!
by Noot40 on 2019/05/07 02:17
This is a fantastic app and a MUST for any guitar player, new to the instrument or professional. I really love the fact that they include chords for other instruments for songs as well(guitar, bass, ukelele, etc.). This app is definitely a very efficient way of finding chords and words to your favorite songs and learning how to play them. If I could suggest one thing to the developers, it would be that there was an option where you could choose a certain genre of music and be provided a list of songs with varying difficulty in that genre. At times, I’ve wanted to play different songs than the ones I had in My Tabs but I wasn’t exactly sure what to play. As nice as the preset playlists are within the app, many of them don’t apply to my personal interests or provide enough options for songs. This feature would definitely make this app shine more than it already is! Well done and keep doing what you do best!
Great Support
by Dustin Reliford on 2017/11/08 18:21
This app (The paid version) is extremely amazing with everything that it does. I've only been playing guitar for about two weeks now, but I've already gotten quite a few chords down and transitioning as well as strumming pattern. I've yet to search for a song too and not be able to find it! Aside from that, the favorites are really awesome too. I'm able to pretty much recalibrate the song by editing lyrics or chords, allowing me to edit it to my own liking and allowing me to practice something that's more my level. Pretty much able to clean songs that have a great message but maybe a couple of cuss words, you know? Or implement the placement of a chord/strumming order etc in a place that it isn't written at. Anyways, I'm pretty much ranting now XD I just highly recommend getting this app if you really want to be able to learn guitar or honestly even some other instruments such as ukelele or maybe even piano, etc.
Few bugs but great overall
by LTDplayer on 2018/04/13 14:58
I’ve been using this app for about 3 years. I’m a self-taught guitarist so using this app really makes learning songs easy and quick to learn. As for those of you who want to learn guitar, this app will be your best friend in learning any songs you’re heart desires, just not every song is available FYI. A down side I had is the price. Yes, you have to pay for the app which I thought that was it but once purchased you also have to purchase the “PRO” edition in the app. Yes it was a bummer but I didn’t mind paying extra for the PRO. As for the new version they come out with, its great, excellent design for the platform but, and I say this because most users also have this issue, it’s become very problematic. What I say by this is that I’ve had the issue with the app freezing and lagging either on the search or on the tabs which became quite annoying having to refresh the app constantly. Overall, it is an excellent app just, it just need better maintenance.
Awesome!!!
by DBarnhoff on 2017/11/14 23:00
I've been using this app for around three years now and I still utilize it daily! When I decided to actually start taking guitar playing seriously, with the goal of being able to play and sing songs from start to finish, I knew I'd need a good reference guide for song chords. I tried a couple free apps first before I bought the full version... wasted time. For around twelve bucks, since I wanted all the options at the time, I have a great tool to practice with. Being able to have the lyrics and chords scrolling as the song plays has been so helpful. I went from learning chord shapes to playing and singing confidently on stage with my band. I was just a singer at first... now I'm center stage playing and singing so many of my favorites. Either at home with friends and family or on stage for strangers, I can now fully enjoy sharing music with others and feel like I wrote the songs myself. Thanks for this app!
Great app but some issues
by E Bathurst on 2018/10/07 19:02
Good stuff: I’m a thirteen year old boy, and I really enjoy music. I got my guitar in second grade but lost interest. In the past couple of months, I’ve learned that I really like how the guitar sounds, so I researched guitar apps. After heavy research, my parents ad I decided that this was the app to get. I’ve had the app for about a month, and l’m really enjoying the app. I’ve tried playing stuff from Beck to AC/DC. Bad stuff: App is confusing to navigate when you open it for the first time. Also, it is not said in the description that there is a subscription payment, which upset me, but I was able to pay it. But the thing that Aggravates me most is the fact that after playing too many songs, the app sends an error message saying I can’t play anymore “official” tabs. This forces me to put down my guitar for x amount of time until I can jam again and learn more songs. Overall, It’s a great app for veteran players, as well as beginners like me.
A great tool to improve playing, ear, and sight reading
by Doctor Parsnips on 2018/10/05 17:29
I’ve been a long time bassist, and I still need help figuring out bass lines and chord progressions. This app is a god-send. I love that I can look at a tab for quick reference when I’m jamming or at a gig, or I can spend time with an official or interactive tab to really nail a part or learn a line I haven’t been able to figure out on my own. Playing along with the official tabs has improved my sight reading; having the track there as an audio reference if I get lost is awesome, and the ability to slow down the tempo to really nail groove, fingering, and more length is extremely helpful. I feel that my playing has improved dramatically after spending time with these tabs, more so than it has with actual lessons or music books. I say this is a must for musicians of all skill levels, from amateurs to gigging musicians looking to perfect their parts.

I love this app so much! The unlimited is worth every penny! I use it for acoustic gigs and when songs need to be learned on the fly, and it’s incredible. If I could add any features it would be a filing system for multiple set lists (so that you wouldn’t have to scroll through your entire collection, but to be able to group certain songs together for easy access) and a feature that would allow you to mark up/paint on the music for side notes, vocal cues, etc. I’ve played with people who leave notes out or want me to only sing certain backups and I have to try and remember on the spot 😂 if there was a markup/paint feature I could just scribble on the music, and get it done with no worries. But even still, UG has CHANGED THE GAME! GET IT! You won’t regret it! Every guitar player needs this, you’ll save so much time when you’re in a bind to learn a lot at the last minute. 🤘🏻
LOVE THIS APP 🔥🔥

Never fails me when I need a quick resource to find the chords/lyrics to just about any song. On a real level, this is like my pocket gig trick. I play gigs and bonfires nearly every weekend and take requests often.. this app has come in handy on more than just a few occasions. There are multiple versions for each song, which is great if you need to change the key signature to suit your vocal range. This app has a tuner that will tune for you or has the option to tune by ear. If you're unsure of how to play a chord, the app has the chord positioning within each song. You can even hear how the chord should sound by pressing play. If you want to know the strum pattern, you can listen to the chord progressions. So many dope features, it's truly an all in one app. I never write reviews on anything, but this application really deserves 5 stars. It's the Perfect sidekick for any gig- anytime, anywhere. 🤙🏼
Almost perfect

I’ve been a long time user of the app and with the most recent update I’ve been even more impressed. A few things, personally, are holding it back for me. First, there’s a lot of lag when it come to switching between instruments in the pro tabs. It’s just not smooth at all and makes it very difficult when learning multiple parts. Second, in addition it does not indicate well what instruments play what part. Simply guitar 1, 2, 3 do not help me to know which is lead or rhythm or solo. I understand it is up to the tab creators to name the instruments, but it there a way to require indication of the positions?? Maybe it’s being too picky, but when there are 12 guitars listed in numerical order rather than position it is a pain to search for a particular one. These are really minor aggravations that over all take away very little but would add so much if included in future updates. Keep up the good work.

This app, y’all. Out of ALL the apps I’ve had to delete in those frantic pressing moments of clearing cloud n’ device space to capture new memories, Guitar Tabs is by far the app I have consistently redownloaded shortly thereafter. SHOOT, y’all—even just the website a decade ago (in its most ancient era) imparted enough clarity, drive, and inspiration to keep my Fretty and me going. The GT App, y’all. IT’s OFF the wall, and YOU—you’ll be ON fire. Which final thought: I typically search for fairly random songs n’ artists (rarely of the now, and rarely billboard, popular, well-known, or well, known! ahAha With GT, I ALWAYS find the song & artist. FURTHERMORE, TALK about OPTIONS. Such a vast array of interpretations, styles, methods, or otherwise suggestions from which to choose. The biggest problem I have with it? TOO MANY POSSIBILITIES! Too many resources and too supportive&responsive a community. Like, GREAT. NOW what’s my excuse?! 😒🤨😅☺️😌
Thank you!!!!!

I love music!!! I play a variety of different instruments including guitar, ukulele, piano, etc. and guitar tabs has helped me tremendously!!!! I love to sing as well and I love how easy it is to access so many songs and i love how there are different versions of the same song, so if I don’t like a certain version, I can choose a different one! And I don’t only use this app for guitar! I love the guitar, but i use this app more for piano. If you know how to play chords on piano, then this app is great for you!!! And you can also use this app for the ukulele!!! And, you don’t even have to be good! I learned most of the guitar by using this app. Before I found this app I only knew a couple chords on guitar because I didn’t really like the pressure of learning a new instrument. But guitar tabs made it fun! By letting me chose exactly what I want at the perfect level of experience is very helpful.
Great app but updates are killing its speed
by Walker2021 on 2018/06/06 19:20
Tons of songs, easy to use, and a great way to either learn or just stay dialed in. Love this app. I still think this is one of the best apps out there for learning guitar tablature and chords, however, it seems like the most recent updates have just slowed it down and made it incredibly glitchy. I remember this app used to run incredibly seamlessly, albeit having some crashing problems, but now it seems the open tabs that weren’t touched, pauses while auto scrolling, and sometimes plays videos without ever even having press the play button without any chance of making them stop without closing the app completely. In terms of information and content this app is world be on just about any other guitar learning app especially for the price but until some of these incredibly annoying problems get resolved I just can’t quite give this app a five star rating.
Best and efficient app for song chords period!
by Mahi Mo on 2019/05/02 02:44
I’ve been using this app for 3plus years now for finding chords to songs we use for worship on Sundays and its been awesome!! I love that it has different versions of a single song, it makes it easy to find what works and also the feature that lets you scroll through the lyrics at a speed that you set so you can play along through the whole song without having to touch your phone! The paid version is so worth these and any other additional features! It won’t be a stretch if I said I learned how to play songs through this app and it helped my journey in learning how to play guitar period. Not totally there yet but this has been and continues to be a huge part of my growth as a guitar player. Thankful for the community, the app and everyone involved in what it is!! Many more blessings to you all!!
Awesome

The reason I still find myself picking up the guitar everyday is because of Ultimate Guitar it gave me a way to play me favorite songs and I fell in love with it. Their new update is genius as a way to get us to show the world the work and dedication we’ve put into this and what we have accomplished. With that being said I rate only 4 because it should be easier to find people who play the same things as you as well as be able to follow people who comment on your posts. They’re essentially trying to make stories like Snapchat and Instagram for Ultimate guitar so make it that way! Make it very easy to connect and find people make recommendations for users along with people who use the same type of tabs as you. I know this update is brand new and will improve but I would love to see this take off because it could very easily be a social media platform for musicians if Ultimate Guitar chooses to do so.
Must have
by AnonymousTraveler on 2019/03/02 17:58
I always feel like a part of my soul dies when I pay for an app, but I'm actually really happy I got this one. I can't speak for other instruments, but it's a must for playing guitar and ukulele. I especially love that you can create a list of favorite tabs, you can listen to the original recording of the song as you play, and you can set it to automatically scroll down the page as you play so you never have to stop to find the next verse. I’m just coming back to edit this review because I left a suggestion that was actually incorporated in an update. From what I can tell, the developers are constantly listening to feedback, adding new features, and striving to do better. Definitely worth the money, and unless something drastically changes I will continue to recommend this app to any musician. It’s awesome.
I hope I live long enough to try the many features!
by GYYYO on 2019/03/14 01:53
Really I had no idea this app did half of what it does, and truthfully I’m not sure of all it does. I do know this. You know that rare Stones b-side you used to play in your old band and thought you were radical because it was never heard on the radio. I thought I knew it by heart but I forgot. So I’m looking on Safari (web browser) when it leads me to an app I already have; “Tabs” You’re going to get more than one way to play the song too. Whether it be chords or lead breaks, they seem to have a constantly growing monstrosity of data containing sometimes 3 and 4 ways to play that song. I bought this app a while ago but hadn’t picked up the guitar in a while. Been hanging in the background as a bass player, giving my bandmate a chance to shine on lead. The rhythm guy and he “weave” like Brian and Keith! Far be it for me to get in the way of their magic. So I’m home and decide to play some regular guitar for a change. I was trying to play “Citadel” off Satanic Majesties (ok not a b side but just as obscure) tonight, and forgot the Dsus! It was nice to find that I had this app to help me rediscover my first love. The acoustic guitar. Great app and I’ve yet to use all the features but I promise, I’ll try. Worth every penny! Fantastic job guys, thank you!
I LOVE THIS APP
by Shelby-forevermusic on 2018/09/17 22:59
So I’ve been a member on this app for 3+ years. I’ve never payed a penny for PRO as I really just wanted the simple features. The only con was without PRO I could only use the tabs on my phone and not my IPad without paying. So deal by deal went by and I was very tempted, but I never took them. I loved the app and used it all the time and decided I didn't need PRO. But one day I woke up and since I had been a loyal member for so long they gifted me PRO for FREE! After I had PRO I found out about all the amazing things that come along with it. This app is amazing and PRO is worth your money, if you play guitar often. Honestly if your on the fence just get the app use it for a while then just wait for a deal to come around. The developers are amazing and the songs are accurate. Thanks to the developers for the amazing gift! Gonna use this app forever!
Almost there....
by Jameson_82 on 2018/02/17 19:29
I love the new look, simplicity, and feel of the Ultimate Guitar app after the last update. However, I have to give it a two for functionality performance. The app freezes up and lags when scrolling through the song list on the “My Tabs” feature. Frustrating to say the least. The search function in “My Tabs” is now gone, or not easily accessible. Now when I search, after entering the “My Tabs” section, it searches the whole catalog of tabs in your database, instead of just searching through the tabs I actually have saved. I have over 400 tabs saved through that portal, and not being able to search through them, but actually have to scroll through them to find them, is a terrible flaw. To further drive that point home, as you know, there are more than one version of any given song being searched for. I have chosen the one I like and sounds best to me, so I don’t have to weed through the versions I don’t like. If the search function in “My Tabs” is gone, I have to weed through them again. It, in effect, makes the whole “My Tab” experience completely unusable with the ease it was created and intended for. Again, I love the app, and use it on a daily basis because I’m a musician, but there’s a couple things that could make it better. This is based on my experience of past versions. I’ve been using your app for quite sometime now. Thank you in advance and good luck on the changes.
4 just because I remember it being faster.
by simply Payton on 2018/08/14 03:20
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good app and does what I need.. however, years ago the older versions were a lot snappier, and that was with older devices. I’m assuming they switched to pulling the playlists and tabs from online, every time. Every change I want to make or even pulling up the search bar takes longer than it should. It’s like everything being server-side instead of client side, if that makes sense. Then it ends up needing to be restarted after long enough, and sometimes the edit tab feature hasn’t worked. If they stored more data locally and just tried to sync things quietly in the background while all my favorites came up with no delay.. I used to have 100s of songs that came up instantly and the list never had to buffer as I scrolled. Those are the only things keeping me from 5 stars right now.
Good but has some things that could be fixed

I love this app! This app really helps me when I wanna find chords for a song that is playing or just need to find tabs or chords. 10/10 for its free resources. However, I feel that a lot of essential options, like printing out chords, should also be free. I'll pay for pro chords. I'll pay for an amp simulator that I can hook up my guitar to and sound like the guitar in the song, but some things I won't pay for, like a tuner. GuitarTuna has you beat in terms or tuning, because they offer it for free, along with a chord library. If you made the tuner free, I wouldn't have to have two apps and I would just uninstall GuitarTuna and use the built in tuner! I realize you all work hard and need to get the bread, but not everything has to be a premium feature. Awesome app overall!
Money grabbers
by Optimus Shine on 2019/01/12 15:41
This app used to be free back in the day. Then, they started running ads. No worries, I thought, it’s still free. Then, they started charging for the app. Not a huge deal, I said, it was a pittance in the grand scheme of things. THEN, they started running ads on the PAID version and would push and push and push for you to ‘upgrade’ to the latest version with all the tools that the old version had but were now being charged for. NOW, they want you to pay a subscription fee in order to access whatever new features they have and are running ads at an alarming rate. I honestly don’t know how this has a rating as high as it does. I suspect they are paying for good reviews with all the cash they’ve been making on their ‘upgrades’. It’s a shame the developers don’t want people to have easy access to learning their favorite songs and helping artists and novices alike learn to hone their craft. It seems they’ve turned into a money machine that wants to keep coming up with ways to squeeze the pennies from our hands.
It was great until today
by which1spink on 2019/04/10 05:51
I had pretty much no problems with this app and used it all the time. I paid fifty dollars a couple years ago for a lifetime Pro account and ever since then I’ve had relatively few complaints aside from the occasional bug here and there (which isn’t even too big of a problem because every app will have them). Now all of a sudden I’m getting messages that I have to unlock a Pro account to use certain features, as if I hadn’t already bought it. This is infuriating and quite frankly feels like a blatant attempt to siphon money. Update disregard what I said previously. Apparently it was one of the aforementioned bugs and I guess my account timed out or something. This is not a common issue for me at all but like I said things happen from time to time. Sorry guys!!
Great App But Pretty Glitchy
by stupidvirgo on 2018/07/24 18:50
I spent along 15 - 20 bucks on this app and all of it was worth it. I got awesome pro tabs along with lessons that have made me a better guitarist and even more useful features that I use almost everyday. However, my only problem is that when I scroll through the collections when I’m trying to learn a new song, the app seems to glitch out. The menu seems to scroll by itself and always set me to the top of the page whenever I try to scroll down. Basically, I will be scrolling down and then the collections will no longer show until finally they do show but it’s now scrolling up and down through the collections until it settles me to the very top of the page. This makes it incredibly difficult to find a song to play. Other then that small glitchy problem, I am pretty happy with this app.
Good variety
by clownworld on 2019/04/22 06:33
The song I’m looking for is always in the search, and the rating system makes my selection of the version I want to learn pretty smooth. A lot of people have obviously dedicated a lot of time to this app and it just makes me happy to have this resource. My only complaint is that the pro version of classical pieces seems off. Like the sound reflects one version of the piece, and the tab is just a part of it. I’d much rather hear the piece I’m trying to learn, no matter if it’s a less complete or complex version. Especially when the piece is a piano piece transposed into guitar. It feels like the pro version is trying to get away with a trick when I just want a straight forward experience. But all the chord ballads and the rock stuff feels pretty satisfying. I come back all the time.
Longtime user lifetime purchase
by Rdahz on 2019/01/30 10:12
I’m a music teacher and purchased YEARS AGO the lifetime membership. Not only that, I’ve recommended it to every single one of my students sending you hundreds of purchasers of the same lifetime membership! Whatever you guys did, we’ve all been kicked out and I’ve got angry parents and students. I’ve tried every single email address, I can no longer transpose or use any features. And there seems to be no way to contact you or get any support. I spent lots of wasted time in class trying to get this to work. Additionally I am a member of several teacher groups online, and they’re all saying the same thing. That they paid for the lifetime membership and can no longer access it or are being asked to repurchase. Your support article says to go ahead and create a new login and it will attach to the Apple ID. That does not work. What am I supposed to tell my students? That I sent them to an app that swindled them out of money by selling something that was supposed to be lifetime and really wasn’t?
Features I Paid For Are Gone
by cisellis on 2018/02/18 15:59
I got a guitar for Christmas and paid $2.99 for the app and $7.99 specifically to be able to use the lessons that were in the old version of the app. The new version of the app removes that functionality entirely and doesn’t even mention it. I submitted one support request through the app and it was never answered. I submitted a second request through their website and was told that they don’t handle refunds and that I should contact Apple. Apple was unable to refund because it’s been over 30 days. I spent $10, which is probably the most I’ve spent on a single app. I think it’s unacceptable to put out a new version that removes the features I paid for mere weeks ago and not refund my money. Update: Thanks for the response. I understand lessons might not have been popular, but they were part of PRO, I paid $10 for them, you got rid of them 6 weeks later with no warning, and you won’t refund my money. If you refund my money, I’ll change my review. Until then it stands.
Phenomenal app
by lord_cantabury on 2018/02/14 21:56
Paying for this app can seem like a pain at first but then you are opened up to all the fantastic pieces within the app. With so many versions of each song available it's hard not to find the version that works/you like the best! I've been using this app for a while to make sure what's what I wanted (and believe me I would have let y'all know if there was something amiss that didn't satisfy) but in all honesty this is a really nice app for hard core self teaching. Thanks to the developers and 10/10 would recommend :) Also a quick update since I guess somehow I forgot to post this review, they gave full access to all the loyal members and honestly this is one of the best apps I will ever use. Thank you so much to the devs for making this a truly amazing thing for every musician.
Just use the website
by Kballllll on 2019/02/24 18:58
All those features you get online have to be paid for in the app. Think of this app as a “read only” version of the site. You can look at tabs, yes. But you can’t print, can’t auto scroll, can’t edit, and most importantly (to me), can’t transpose without paying money. I know they probably need to pay for building the app, but it’s just not worth it to me. Just hop on a laptop or desktop and use for free. There are ads on the desktop version of course, but that’s fine with me. 👍🏻 A suggestion from me would be: if someone tries to use a feature, give them the option of upgrading to the paid version or watching a 30sec-1min ad to unlock that feature for only that song just once. This way, users aren’t losing the functionality that matters to them, but you’re not “giving away” the features you had to build. Just my 2 cents!
I stand corrected! Thanks for listening!

UPDATED REVIEW: I am leaving my original post below because I wanted everyone to know that UG has fixed this. I've been a subscriber for a couple of years and this was a problem in the beginning. Thanks to UG for actually caring about your customers complaints and concerns and making me happy again. I can now access the UG app and all of my saved tabs from both my iPad and my iPhone. Thanks again for fixing this! (See below): I love guitar tabs. I just wish I didn’t have to pay for an entirely new subscription if I want to access my tabs from a different device. With every other app I have, I can access it from my iPhone or my iPad (drop it from the cloud) without having to pay an extra fee to allow access to the 2nd device.
“Free” Features are a bait a switch
by daz10000 on 2019/03/11 03:41
Update: appreciate the developer reaching out and telling me about all the cool free content in the unpaid version. That’s not my issue with the app though. You can’t tell I’m free version what’s premium content and I searched for one popular song with a dozen versions and just got sick of clicking, seeing the upsell modal pop up and then the tease of the content for a second when you dismiss the modal. The free version is just a giant ad which is aggravating to use. Suggestion: mark the content and features clearly so it’s clear what’s not available. Original review: I installed this as an upgrade from the basic web sites. Unless you want to constantly watch a video of what you’d get if you paid for it, don’t both with app. Seemed like every button just triggers an up sell modal. It’s impossible to tell what you can use and after an hour I just uninstalled it. Paid version might be great but otherwise don’t bother.
Great app. Needs one thing...
by grace2638 on 2018/07/11 22:01
I’ve been a long-time user of this app, have made in-app purchases, and have watched it improve over the years. It’s truly a functional and sleek guitar chords app, and I highly recommend it to any musician, from people with years of experience to absolute experience. To the developers: this app needs only one thing, in my opinion. I need the ability to add a “note” on a song that is saved to my favorites. I want to be able to keep track of what capo and position I like that fits my singing voice! I would use this app even more if that was the case, since it’s awkward to try to play and sing a song around friends only to change keys three times until I remember what capo I liked it on. PLEASE add the ability to add a note to a song, just like a little “personal annotation” section or something. Thanks!
Overcoming Hurdles
by S. Texas Beach Bum on 2017/11/12 14:42
I don’t really have slit of apps that I downloaded and/or use with great frequency, but this app is the exception. I have been playing for the better part of 30 years, & I was getting tired of playing all that I knew and grew up on. Coming from a music family, where you learned by watching and trial and error, the get togetherness where getting few & far between. I was hitting a wall with my abilities. Once I started using the Internet, I discovered skit of I wanted to play, I already new the chords I just had to change progression and strum patterns. TABS not only did that, but it also showed me some of the lesser used chords were really not that hard. I really would say that my library, and the diversity of types of music it literally exploded. Thumbs Up&
Good app but needs work
by Chillbabezzz on 2018/08/22 20:30
I love this app because of all its features and tabs that it has. My one big problem with it is when I try to edit other tabs. The keyboard blocks part of the tab and there’s no way to scroll and edit other parts of the tab on the phone or iPad without copying the full tab and using another app to edit it. Also, on the phone version, when you finish editing your tab, there’s no way to save it because the keyboard blocks it. I’ve tried to close the keyboard but it only works on my iPad. When I do somehow manage to save the new edition of the tab, it doesn’t save it completely and only gives me the first few lines of the song. I really love this app but editing on it is terrible. Besides that issue, it’s pretty great app.

by Makellkell5 on 2019/05/19 20:27
My friend introduced me to this app when I was learning how to play guitar.

Awesome!
by Randomite10 on 2019/05/17 21:10
I am one of those ukulele teen girls, but this app is perfect for it.
As someone who has used this app since a young kid and even partially learned guitar through the app, I find it disappointing to have to pay a fee to use the app as I always have
Unusable when free
by Zibatox on 2019/05/16 23:50
App’s commercials cut audio, making useless to use along any kind of track without paying to remove commercials.

by k8sDream on 2019/05/16 23:23
Just played “Chasin That Neon Rainbow” 1st time thru; did great with these tabs but can u maybe add like a link at each chord that shows how to actually play it on the guitar (like a 6-sec vid showing the fingers & a strum thru!) for those of us who r #absolutebeginners?!🤣 [Lord won’tcha help me with the bar chords!😅😭😂 #myhanddoesntbendthatway!🤣] thx for great app!🤘😜👍
Good app
by sassy grill on 2019/05/16 19:38
I love this app because the tabs are so good and also you can make personal edits to a tab.

Garbage app
by Skawiggy on 2019/05/15 03:42
Total garbage.

Hope you can fix the program, because I would certainly be happy to keep paying for it if it functioned.

by Ells114 on 2019/05/14 01:01
I USED to LOVE this app!!!
Amazing!

It would be great if it would remember my instrument of choice.

by jettleg on 2019/05/12 22:48
I understand adds are a part of free versions of apps.

Great app
by Roach8 on 2019/05/12 17:48
I’ve been using this app for years. Great app

It’s also really annoying that the crappy tabs are free and that you have to pay for good tabs.

by calthewitch on 2019/05/11 04:20
It's pretty good until you realize you have to pay to play pretty much the good version of every song. For a while you can get by with tabs that Mostly sound like the song, but they're usually needlessly complicated. If you're not planning on buying a subscription don't use this app. Just use the browser version on desktop if you want the good tabs.
It’s been good since the beginning 👍🏼

Off time tabs and just glitchy
by fudgepie on 2019/05/11 01:45
This app is great but recently when using the pro tabs the music plays off time from the actual tab making it very difficult to learn new songs and is just glitchy in general and they don’t seem to care about reviews from customers so downgrading from 4 to a 1

Money hogs, don’t suggest this app

Never fails. Love the transcribe feature so it can save me from doing it in my head or writing it all out.. !
Thanks for the App 🎼🎸

Thanks to all you who donate the songs and the notes along with the technical experience to help me learn songs I never could have played. Love the App and the community.

I got on and it said get premium now and I pressed the restore button and nothing happened. Would of been five if it was not for this. Or maybe my dad forgot to pay it. I’m gonna wait a couple of days to see

picked up a guitar for the first time in January. my two young kids were learning in an after school program. figured it was something we could do together along with sports. I been listening to music and singing my whole life. ‘bout time to start making some of my own. along the way, I’ll learn to play some of my favorites.

LOVE THIS APP 🔥🔥
by Ripp3drick on 2018/05/23 16:58
Never fails me when I need a quick resource to find the chords/lyrics to just about any song.
