Love soundhound!!
by Cocojules on 2016/05/02 04:59
Use it everyday!!
Used to be great
by TACOinUSA on 2016/05/02 00:58
This used to be the app to own. But now they went to the toilet with it. The new version they got is worthless to me. It took me a whole song to figure out where I click for sound hound to tell me what song I was listening to. By the time I found it after endless of navigation in the app, the song was over.
Sweet
by Wizer Music on 2016/05/02 00:55
Great app! Love it and use it all the time. Like how I'm able to sync up with my Spotify. Pretty rad!
5 stars, all the way!
by Aravis35775 on 2016/05/01 20:00
works great and easy to use. I've found many songs thanks to this app. has lyrics to most songs and saves your search history which is really nice.
Very on point
by MEL42 on 2016/04/30 13:35
I truly enjoy being able to tap an app and discover who sings what when I truly want to know. And. Not only that, I can view my artist in any video version at anytime anywhere.
SOUNDHOUND
by Hollywood Hap on 2016/04/30 09:15
The absolute best app for novice and pro, gives you back your brain and makes you look good all at the same time. Incredibly accurate, I have had this app for about 3 1/2 years and only had a 2% error rate. Can not beat, just wish I was the creator.
Very useful
by patkap41 on 2016/04/29 20:24
It is one of the few apps I use on a daily basis to find music. It doesn't find everything, but it works better than shazam
Drummer extraordinaire!
by Lx_keith on 2016/04/29 16:58
SoundHound is awesome! Probably the most cool app on my phone & I really enjoy the work they have done and all the features that have been added to make this app even better! Thank you, SoundHound, thank you!
I can even whistle to it
by Kid 9 on 2016/04/29 05:56
I woke up at midnight on a Thursday night. I had an amazing song stuck in my head. But I had to issues. One being I had no idea what the name of the song was. And the second being that I couldn't remember any of the words. I tried Shazam. And all I got was "try again, I didn't understand that" and so I tried and tried again. Eventually to give up and search for an app that was worth the time. This app quickly downloaded, and as soon as I opened it up. I simply whistled the tune to my phone. And this soundhound app literally said "here ya go" and gave me the song I was struggling to find in just a few seconds. By far the best app I've seen for music recognition in a long time.
SoundHound is the best
by Golf54deciple on 2016/04/29 02:32
Found that SoundHound doe an excellent job at finding Muzic!!! Instrumentals included
Soundhound continues to rock....
by axelgreaser on 2016/04/29 02:23
I totally love this app...without it I wouldn't have a clue. Was just very impressed when i launched soundhound and it recognized the song, and that it was the version from Glee. Cheers! TY!
Battery eating
by Are you kidding me with this? on 2016/04/28 01:01
What's up, guys? I've loved this app forever. Lately it's been eating battery. For example, I checked a song this morning and the app must have kept chugging along in the background because 12 hours later it has used 67% if my battery life.
MUST GET APP!!
by AFord2011 on 2016/04/27 05:25
I absolutely love this app! I put it to the test when my iTunes was downloading a cd I had from the '90's and didn't have the case anymore. iTunes didn't recognize it and so I used soundhound and it was great!! Every song, every artist, & lyrics!! I am amazed and I have gotten a lot of people turned on to it!! Keep it up!!
What's playing?!
by Pink's in! on 2016/04/27 03:44
Love Sound Hound! You can learn the name & artist of a song/piece you hear on Alexa, a radio station, from a CD or in a movie. I've found new favorites I can play on Alexa, purchase through Amazon, iTunes, and other music sources. Handy tool for music lovers of all genres!
NOT GOOD
by GAGEGARLAND123456789 on 2016/04/27 01:11
DO NOT GET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no more lyrics?
by Scutar1us on 2016/04/26 22:54
I don’t see the lyrics much anymore from this app. I really did used to like it before. But now there is so much junk to wade through on it, if the lyrics are there they are too hard to see. KISS and if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Probably trying to squeeze in too much advertising and links
Need an in-app improvement feature
by AdrianneL on 2016/04/25 03:48
There should be a button that says "I know for a fact that is not the song. It's not even the same language." Or something similar. Twice I've gotten a result that was impossibly wrong. Just twice that's why I still give the app 4 stars.
Sound hound rocks

Love it !!!!!

Me encanta...
by Mary (from PR) on 2016/04/24 17:27
Esta app me encanta; lamento que muchas canciones no tienen la lírica.
Worthless
by Fats Dulange on 2016/04/23 04:16
If it cannot find the streetbeater via "humming" or even vocal notes, it's worthless!!!!
Versatile App!
by vicster529 on 2016/04/21 20:49
I love this app! The most important use is, obviously, the capacity to identify a song in seconds. But it also allows you to tag favorites, keeps track of your history, and provides links to Pandora or Apple Music. This is my far my favorite and best music search app!
Holy crap
by Ddragonimp on 2016/04/21 19:32
Holy crap I'm impressed I hummed a couple opera songs "Time to say goodbye" and "la donne e mobile" 100% accuracy. I was so impressed I rushed over here to write a review and I don't write anything but bad reviews.
It's Allllll Gooooood
by Starbrite220 on 2016/04/20 20:58
I LIKE! I LIKE!
It's better than the alternative
by Pokerface Pro on 2016/04/19 03:16
This app is better than Shazam. It rarely struggles finding the tune and I love how the lyrics come right up and exactly where the song is playing. A must have.....
Not the SoundHound it originally was
by dniq on 2016/04/18 16:00
The app no longer offers music recognition and REALLY wants you to sign up. Which kind of makes the whole existence of the app pointless.
Super
by Coach Crittenden on 2016/04/17 20:37
What a great App!!!
Hum a tune!
by Always an alto on 2016/04/16 19:44
Just signed up to find the name of an old song. Worked perfectly. Easy to use. Will use again and again !
Great learning tool
by MikeyLee on 2016/04/13 22:01
We carpool four days a week and listen to SiriusXM. Finding the lyrics to that obscure song from your past is generally easy for this app. But more importantly, learning about the artists and their history has made this app a valuable distraction from the mad traffic.
Love the app.
by BigJak65 on 2016/04/13 19:58
I love the ease of use and how quick the app finds the songs.
Love this app
by Halfpint39 on 2016/04/12 09:35
I love using Soundhound. Not only does it tell me the name of the songs I am wanting to know. It also gives live lyrics and many more features that I absolutely love.
Exelent like so much

Great app having so much fan God Bless you
This app is the best!
by Kevie1970 on 2016/04/11 04:46
I have used this app for a couple of years now and I can say without a doubt that it is the best for finding out information within seconds. I used to use Shazam but not any more. Sound hound puts that other app to shame.

SOUNDHOUND vs SHAZAM
by ladedaniels on 2016/04/10 04:59
SHAZAM - I honestly don't CARE what the "trending shazams" were from all over the world, in every conceivable genre, over the last however-many days - I WANTED YOU TO IDENTIFY THAT SONG THAT WAS JUST PLAYING!!! But you almost always blow it, because first you have to load a million pages of useless crap that I don't care about before you'll even take a stab at my song! SOUNDHOUND - You couldn't ID two pretty popular songs based upon the lyrics "So wake me up when it's all over, when I'm wiser and I'm older" OR even "I'm just a little bit caught in the middle" when I typed them in. Oh, I got LISTS from SOUNDHOUND - based on song titles, lyrics, and album names - but not one of those lists had the actual songs that I was looking for on them. SOUNDHOUND does a somewhat better job with songs being played in movies, TV shows, and commercials - whereas SHAZAM will chug and chug (until the song is over with), then hand you the name of the movie or show that you're already fully aware you are watching - along with a big, crappy rendition of the movie poster - as if it were a gift. I even wrote to SHAZAM about it, and I received a very timely response saying that it "shouldn't do that" - apparently, it should have given me a list of songs. Well, I agree - but it never does. The lyrics that both offer are good, and show up fast, provided that either app bothered to ID your song in the first place. Is there a THIRD option out there for song identification?
Great

Best App Ever
by Hound Groupie on 2016/04/08 15:22
I absolutely love this app, it really does exceed my expectations!
Nice
by Awsomundi14 on 2016/04/08 03:48
When it can identify the song it's a really neat app. I like that I can automatically add songs to my Spotify list. And when it has the lyrics loaded for the song it follows along with the words for you. It identifies about 2/3's of the songs and has lyrics for usually half of them.
Great app
by L0ra32 on 2016/04/08 02:37
This is one of my favorite apps. I use it a lot. There is so much new music and new artist, it's hard to keep up. This app opens the door to so much, I love it.
Doesn't work
by Unpalumpa1929 on 2016/04/07 22:15
I tried humming and singing really recognizable songs into the app but it gave me some bs answers that were way off. C'mon now
Happy customer.
by Jtskmemommsi on 2016/04/07 02:22
I think it would be great if you made an app or a feature that identified actors voices, I figured the creator(s) of this app have the capability to do it.
Too Complicated and commercial
by Lostgoldman on 2016/04/06 04:23
Used to a great app. Now they just want sell music. Too hard get a result and too many buttons to push.
Couldn't get the last three songs
by doggygal9 on 2016/04/04 03:15
And one was a really recent one that was very popular
Basic App Feature Buried... Can't Find It?
by galste on 2016/04/03 19:14
The basic function of opening the app, hitting a button, and getting the name of a song and the band is gone. Now, you have to scroll around all this commercial stuff, to the point I couldn't actually find this basic function. I deleted the app because it now doesn't do what it used to do, and I hope Shazam didn't go down make the same changes.
Mediocre
by CoC fan 101 on 2016/04/03 15:56
Helps me sometimes but Shazam is much better don't waste your time
Fine app

Sound Hound
by NanaLoriAnn on 2016/04/01 17:42
I love this app it's great for identifying a song if you don't know the name but like the song... Also gives you the lyrics to the songs and a little information on the artist..

Helpful, but lacking
by nerd-in-converse on 2016/03/30 01:13
The song database on here is incredibly lacking. I did a few tests to see if they had some slightly more obscure songs like Twenty One Pilots's Ride, Taylor Swift's Out of the Woods, Lindsey Stirling's Roundtable Rival, Panic! At the Disco's House of Memories, and Fall Out Boy's Fourth of July, and they did have them, but the app wouldn't find them. I made sure I sang it clearly too.
Awesome, Useful, Accurate!

by Birdie962 on 2016/03/26 19:25
Love using the app to look up lyrics!! In the age of digital music, the lyrics appear like magic, saving the time it would take to page through a Google search.
Pointless
by Storm id: ninjaturtle840 on 2016/03/26 08:03
It can never identify any song and instead suggests whatever is on the top charts. Even if I play something from the charts it tells me it's unable to identify the song and suggests sometimes the exact song along with others.
Excelente muy buena👍

Must Have
by Pocket Faye on 2016/03/26 02:55
This app is a veritable must have for music lovers. Not only does it unerringly find songs, it stores your searches and so much more. My super convenient checklist for purchases when I go on my binge buying...and my pal when trying to track down songs during unannounced times (like in movies).

by EdBoy63 on 2016/03/25 19:56
I got the app just to listen and tell me what song was currently playing. I would then use other apps for lyrics, share, purchase, etc. Little did I know that I could do this and more from 'within' the app! A terrific find.

This app is magical
by suiseseki on 2016/03/16 15:44
I was sitting in a small restaurant where music was playing at a rather low volume, and people were talking nearby. And this app still somehow managed to find me the song. What can I say, this app is just incredible.
No lyrics, IDs way fewer songs
by MrTriffin on 2016/03/16 11:41
This app used to work a lot better. Live Lyrics for lots of songs and one tap to look them up on Google otherwise. Now, nothing, even for popular songs. No option to search for lyrics either. The main feature, IDing, seems to work so infrequently that I wonder if song is a cover or live version (why else would it fail so often?). Each time, I find the song elsewhere and it was the exact same version SH failed to ID. iPhone 5S, iOS 9.2.1
HStopped working in car
by spof22 on 2016/03/16 07:04
Soundhound has been my music ID app of choice for years but recently developed a problem that makes it unusable in my car: SH seizes focus of the whole audio system, taking priority over the music source and leaving nothing for SH to hear and identify. Support seems to have lost interest in resolving it. As a result, I've had to start using Shazam, which I consider an inferior app but which works in the car.
Lovin' it!
by Phyllisita on 2016/03/16 05:09

Can't access microphone :-(
by BewareOfPenguin on 2015/04/14 18:57
I've been a loyal user of SoundHound for a few years now. The app is been really great and I've really enjoyed using it. Unfortunately a recent update has broken access to the microphone. I used the link in the app to go to the microphone settings but it sent me to the wrong part of the settings. I navigated to the correct place on my own and it said that the app never requested access to the mic. I tried restarting the app and I tried restarting my phone, both with no change. Then I took to the Internet looking for a solution. About the only advice I could find was to reset privacy and location settings. Did that, but still no joy. Even so, I'm leaving a 4-star rating since the app has been nothing short of amazing throughout the years that I've used it. But unfortunately, not being able to use the microphone is kind of a big deal with this app. I hope to see this remedied in a future update. EDIT: Whether intentionally or by chance, the latest update fixed the microphone issue for me. The app is working like a champ and I'm back to happy camper status. Thank you to the app developers for your hard work. Five stars for you!
One of the best, if not the best, App I have!!!
by jimmymac31455 on 2014/09/12 11:16
I know that there are other music identifying apps out there. Actually, I think I have another one on this phone. But the point is that this was my first and it just keeps getting better. I don't think amongst my second tier of apps that I have one I consider even close to the use I have for this one. My first tier of apps are like messaging, weather, a book reading app, phone app or any of the absolutely necessary apps, which as I'm typing this I'm thinking this app may be a first tier app. This app is how I buy my music. Songs on the radio, in a movie, on a TV show or even in a commercial. I'm not up to date on the music scene but with this app all I have to do is hear a song and have my phone available, then go from there to buying the song or the entire album. Couldn't be more convenient. I DEPEND on this app for virtually ALL of my music. Without this app I would only have a couple of songs on my phone instead of the 217 that I do have. These are not just a bunch of albums. The majority, 90%, are through Soundhound and 1 by 1, and I still listen to 97% of the ones I have. Incredible app, brought me back to music. Jimmymac Yhg
Not sure about the new map feature...
by Percival! on 2013/08/01 16:43
I love SoundHound, and I would love to give it four or maybe even five stars. After this most recent release, you now have the ability to tap on a map, and the app will display album art from people who have used SoundHound to tag music in the map. I love this new feature, with the exception of one thing – the album art seems to know exactly where it was tagged. What I mean by that is that, to test it out, I tagged one of my songs and then checked the map. Sure enough, within seconds the album art for that song appeared – exactly where my house is. I think that, for privacy reasons, SoundHound needs to update this so that it is a little less accurate on your location. I don't want other people knowing exactly where I was when I tagged it, especially since I'm usually at home. Wouldn't accuracy to within, say, a quarter-mile be close enough? All they would have to do to change this is make the album art slightly larger when you zoom in, and offset its center on the image randomly by about a centimeter. If they make that change, I will revise this up to four stars, because the app itself is great. But nowadays privacy is a real concern, and SoundHound needs to be a little more aware of that.
Promising
by pplaycock on 2010/10/10 09:48
This app appears to have promise. I say that as I am reviewing it after only having tested it on two songs playing through my iPhone 4 speakers, streaming from Pandora Radio's The Fray channel. It recognized both songs as it should. So, plus points are not given in that regard. Plus points are given based on the speed in which the app opened and in which it delivered the results. Fast! That is the key component given that technology is proven in this area. How many times has a music clip played on tv that you could not capture due to speed shortfalls? Plus points are also given for the provision of lyrics. Yes! We want this! Right! I could go on with the favorables but that is enough for an app that is free. FREE! Minuses, only provides 5 free reads a month and cannot copy lyric text on an iPhone. The first is only a slight negative as the app provides opportunities to earn more free reads. Hence, this review. Note, I wouldn't have written it if I didn't want the extra free reads. What does that tell you? I like the app and plan to use it. In fact, I plan to use it right now. It's a beautiful day, a song of like name is streaming and I want to know every lyric Bono is belting out.
Suggestion To Help Parents
by spydrlink on 2012/06/19 20:10
This is a great app and I absolutely love the features that it offers, especially the synchronized lyrics. Perhaps you could take it a step further though. For those of us with younger kids, they tend to like the same music we do. However a lot of the music we purchase has various "naughty words" that we're not quite ready to subject are kids to. It would be a great addition if parents could play their own music through SoundHound with the option of "blanking" out the explicit words. If you combine your syncing lyrics option with some known explicit language filters, you could force the muting of the music or a vocal reversal in those troublesome parts. This way parents wouldn't have to be concerned about if there's bad words or not, and we wouldn't have to buy the "clean version" of songs. This would also let parents give their kids their own iPod, lock down the music app, and instead make SoundHound their music player app. Might require a parental passcode on the app so kids couldn't change it. Thanks for the great app and for listening.
Used to love it...
by WileyReb on 2012/12/30 14:17
This used to be one of my favorite Apps. Opened quickly, started listening to the music I wanted to identify, and quickly brought up the music info. I often went directly to iTunes from to purchase the song, music, CD, or whatever. Then they added in all these useless upgrades, like showing what others in this area are listening to (this is a rural farm...doubt the horses or cattle use SoundHound). Now this App is very slow to open, when open, is slow to begin listening, often pulls up new screen(s) of what others are listening to (I could care less) and then fails to 'hear' the music even when held up to the speaker. It even did this when tested against well known, current hits or classic holiday music! So, Apple suggested to make sure no other Apps were open in background, then reopen SoundHound to start over, but it STILL opened extremely slowly then failed to ID music. Used to like this enough to consider upgrading to the paid version of SoundHound, but no way now!! Don't waste your time with this one. Goodbye SoundHound. It was great using you before you changed by adding in garbage that bogs down the best part of the original App, listening to and ID'ing music that we often went on to purchase. Now it's time for you to go. DON'T bother with this App!!
Best Music App ever!!!!
by ashleyn596 on 2011/11/22 11:18
This is the #1 Best App to search and download your favorite music & songs! Its SO easy to use...w/ no hassle at all, u just download the app and you're ready to GO! Its so quick & simple; it has every feature I've ever wanted my music search engine to do, all-in-one! And, the best part is... it's Free! Plus, it has one of the largest Music Libraries available - (so you will always get results). It's database has a wide variety of music, and includes everything from the classic oldies your parents loved, plus all of today's newest mixes, from the hottest artists) - & the best part is it's all in one place...amazing! SoundHound always finds the exact right song I'm looking for. And if it can't match the exact song immediately, it provides you with a list of songs you can choose from; w/ similar titles, artists, or lyrics - so u can find the song you're looking for. You can also Bookmark your searches & save your history, for review for later. I promise, this is the only music search engine you'll ever need. A++++++++
search speed equal to google
by Medusas*Mermaid on 2015/04/29 14:50
I'm only giving this app a second star because I've had soundcloud on my phone for a year or so, rarely using it but needed for a music buff like myself- The last few times I've tried to use this app; by the time it opens and loads, the song is over. I'd be better off getting a two cassette tape deck boom box and recording a clip to manually search for by lyric. The volume is sufficient and the vocals clear. Apparently this app needs to hear the entire song to search for it- when it's a small audio clip or commercial song you don't have time to wait for this to load just OPENING! That was originally the whole point of this I thought, the ability to run in open this app and find a song clip quick. I might better google the lyrics I can decipher. I'm sure it'll take longer but I won't want to smash my phone when it says 'no results could be found.' feck you sound hound I'm officially uninstalling this failing forward app finally and hope the developers work on the search speed and maybe expand they're catalog. Go back to the version you had two years ago- app is awful
works sometimes
by dakotawulf on 2011/01/10 14:32
Just downloaded this app. Tried it out on Gregg Allman's new album, Low Country Blues, on NPR radio. Said "there were no close matches," and I held my device right next to the speaker. When considering that fact that he has been recording albums since the late 1960's, you would think that Soundhound would know who he is and have him in their database. But apparently not. I wonder how many other recording artists aren't in their database? Even tried it with Robert Plant and the Band of Joy. Agaiin nothing. And Robert Plant has also been recording albums since the late 1960's. Or doesn't it know any artists that have been making albums for that long? I could understand if it were some "virtually" unheard of artist; but not when it's Gregg Allman & Robert Plant. But in all fairness, did try it with couple other artists/songs and it was correct. Will continue testing on various other artists before deciding to spend $5 on full version or not. But had better do job at recongizing musicans who have been making albums for a long time before I'll buy the full version.
WOW!!!!!!!
by Timmy9944 on 2012/09/22 02:43
All I can say is wow. I've been trying to ID a song I keep hearing at the hockey game. One I those songs that when you hear the cut, you need to know what it is, but it slips your mind 2 hours after the game and you don't think twice About it until months later... Tried y@hoo answers and other sites, no luck. How many responses for Gary Glitter can you get... Tried other phone apps, no luck. Ended up recording a cut on my PC while playing back a game with N(H)L Game Center. Meant to post it on Y@U-Tube to try and get and ID but never got around to it. Saw this app by chance and decided to give it a go considering the other feedback. Didn't think it would work. This cut was ugly. Bad acoustics, announcers talking over the music, game noise ... I mean ugly. But WOW! NAILED IT in about 6 seconds. Turns out it was "Black Tide - Warriors of Time." (In the end, not the best song through and through, but yeah, the cuts were there all right). Would definitely recommend after this experience!
Superior to Shazam in all ways but one
by Michael L on 2011/09/09 22:56
PROS: I used Shazam to much frustration for months, as it would always crash, wouldn't save captured songs if I was somewhere without a connection. I switched to Soundhound and found it better--it does classical music, has a zippier interface, is much more stable, and is all around better. CON: The only exception where Shazam is better: for the newest songs on the radio (i.e. today I heard David Guetta's "Without You" on the radio) it does not have it in the database. I "captured" it several times just to be sure it wasn't a fluke. Then I tested it on Shazam which identified the song right away. This has happened for several songs now, I remember one song which had been on the radio for WEEKS that Soundhound still couldn't identify. I realize it's impossible to keep up with all new music everywhere, but if it's a Top 50's billboard song playing on the radio for weeks it should be in your database.
Great app!
by AlejaWeasleyGranger on 2010/08/09 04:20
I'm hooked with this app ever since I got it, it's amazing. Out of all the songs I asked it to identify, two didn't give me any results, but that is because they are typical foreign music so I really didn't count on them to be found. However, it did get me out of some big doubts that I had with some songs titles or artists. On the downside, sometimes the app crashes or gets interrumptions in the music playing, which does not happen very often but still is really annoying. Please fix that soon. I'd also suggest that you enable it to iOS 4 and multitasking compatibility; these improvements would definitely give this app 5 stars. Also, five IDs may be enough for some people, but for music true lovers and people who keep finding new music everyday it's certainly not so. I know that selling extra IDs is a big part of what keeps you going, but I think that 10 or 15 free monthly IDs would be good enough. Anyways, great app, and keep going! :)
Pretty good
by StuartDole on 2011/08/08 05:26
Well, I have this "mystery CD" of slow piano music, given to me years ago by a massage therapist, and I've been wanting to find out who the aritst is, and what album(s) it is. SouindHound thought it could identify about 60% of the tracks, but it was wrong on all of them. I went to iTunes and checked what it thought they were, and it wasn't close (though they were nice pieces - I discovered some good stuff). It did get the last track on the album, which may be a different artist anyway, so it's not batting 1000, but it's a fun experiment. I tried some classical, and it did identify Beethoven's Sonata in C-minor (the "Moonlight Sonata"), but didn't get the pianist or the performance - close, but no cigar. There's a lot of subtle variation from performance to performance that's meaningful to those who love classical music that seems lost on a product like this - maybe the algorithms could be tweeked for classical fans to be more discerning? Haven't tried it with more off-beat classical yet.
How can this ever be lower than 5 stars??
by Beejebe on 2015/06/13 04:13
I am not eloquent enough to express how much I adore this app... If I only have enough memory for three apps this would be one in the trio. I am a child of the 1980's (which was one of the greatest decades) but instead of listening to the Billboard's top music back then I was stuck on my Mom's Kenny Rodgers and Neil Diamond records... So.. I am mostly clueless when it comes to the 80's and early 90's! When I hear a song on TV and movies I just click the app and within 5 seconds the answer pops up- with lyrics, cover art. My music education!! The only catch is the song (I think) has to be in the current iTunes library. But if the app cannot match the song you can save the recording. How cool is that?! No hidden fees, no obnoxious advertising. (There are ads but they are not annoying.) Give it a try!
Simply the best.
by Coryop on 2015/04/11 20:31
After using Shazam for awhile and trying Soundhound out, I am absolutely amazed. One time I was listening to my own music and I clicked Soundhound, lo and behold it already knows what I'm listening to! And shows me the lyrics that are being sung in real time, what?! Then I start scrolling through the lyrics. Just to see what would happen I double tap and BAM the song skips back to those lyrics, I was blown away. Another time I had this song stuck I my head but I didn't remember the lyrics. I took Soundhound out and hummed them, not expecting it to actually work. To my surprise it came up with exactly the song I was looking for! I'm simply flabbergasted. I deleted Shazam instantly, it's nothing in comparison. Shazam is to Soundhound as Internet explorer is to google chrome. Do yourself a favor and download Soundhound.
Few songs it doesn't have
by kuhzooangel on 2013/03/18 18:21
There's a few obscure songs it won't have but I am able to update and clean out my music collection because I can sing or play my music. However if you play the music on the guitar or a Prather instrument it doesn't recognize it. It knows only your vocal or the track. It recognizes you singing off key which means it works pretty good so for a program to do that is why I gave it 5 stars! I would definitely recommend. It would have gotten lower if it were a pay app for the lack of obscure songs and inability to recognize music played on instruments. For being free I think this app really is the music catalogs best friend! If you haven't downloaded it by now you really should! This app is also available on that other platform and works just as we'll over there.
Love it
by Ejpelaccio on 2015/04/29 13:35
I use Sound Hound all the time. It almost never finds a song from humming or singing unless it's a really popular pop song. It also has a hard time if the music is muffled at all or there are background noises. Sometimes it will at least guess and give a few options. Other times it just says sorry, we were unable to identify that song - or something to that message. It does have a great range of music for eclectic music lovers. If it doesn't have the lyrics, it will take you directly to the lyrics online. I also like the connection to other music apps. I can create a Pandora station directly from the Sound Hound app or go to iTunes Radio. It even includes a little snippet of the author or band history. Also, this may seem dumb, but it has the year the album came out. This has helped me quickly resolve a debate or win trivia.
Amazing.
by JuliaDoodleBear on 2015/06/23 22:06
I hardly ever actually take the time to write a review for an app, but Soundhound deserves it. It's one of my most useful apps & I'm blown away by its performance. The design is easy to figure out & use, and it launches fast, which comes in handy when you need to search for a song quick. Not to mention, it works great. Even when I hear a song on bad speakers or at a party with tons of laughing noisy people, the mic still picks up the music through the static or background noise and finds the song for me. Another feature that comes in handy is that it saves your song recordings to search later, when you don't have data or wi-fi. I also particularly like the "Singers Born Today" section on the Discovery tab, it's really neat. Five stars definitely. This app never disappoints or fails to amaze me!
Play it again, Sam
by NKNY91 on 2012/01/18 20:51
Great app for anyone who’s ever asked, “what’s the name of this song?” Very simple to understand and use- I like all the additional options the search results yield (artist info, tour dates, album info, etc…). Doesn’t require me to do any more than simply push a button. Results are saved for later reference. Much more effective than my old method of finding unknown songs (Googling random lyrics). Once in a while I have to retry for it to recognize a song, but it has yet to not pull through. Background noise will interfere with your results, but I find this to only be a minor annoyance. One of my favorite apps and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to add new and/or lesser known songs to their music library or is just curious about what song they’re listening to.
STILL my go to for finding music
by WUT?? on 2013/03/08 04:11
Sound Hound is almost always right on. I have some very obscure music that was given to me as a present a long time ago without any documentation, SH has found almost all of it for me so I could buy copies (the CD has degraded and is no longer playable) - oddly tho it has recently begun taking me to video versions of songs in iTunes and here is why they still get 5 (6 if it were possible) their tech support has been fantastic - even when initially unable to duplicate my problem they kept at it until it was verified and let me know that they are still working on it! wow, many would have just said, eh, can't verify, thanks and have a nice day. I plan to purchase the infinite version even though the free one is great just to support these guys. terrific!
Awesome app
by Inikit on 2015/07/11 02:59
I rarely ever take the time to write reviews of apps (have written 5-6 in the 8 years that I've had apple products), but I had to write a review. This app is awesome. The app can recognize songs if you simply turn on the app while the song is playing, if you sing them, or even hum them. I had a random song stuck in my head all day at work and only knew 6 words of the song, so I went onto the app and hummed it. I was doubtful that soundhound would find it because I can't carry a tune to save my life, but soundhound found it in a matter of seconds (Celiene Dion's That's the way it is from 1999!). What makes this app much more awesome is that you get an unlimited number of song searches. Definitely download the app. It won't disappoint.
Holy crap! It really works!
by Greyson Fauchard on 2010/06/23 23:50
There are two songs I've been looking for for 7 years. Back in the day they were pretty famous, I think, but now they are old and obscure J-pop songs that I never knew the song titles or artists of - I had only heard them on the radio or in a store when shopping, so I only knew the melody of the chorus in each case. Over those 7 years, I spent countless hours on the internet looking for any clues as to what they were to no avail. I downloaded this app, hummed what I knew, and in 30 seconds I had both of them! Holy crap! It really works! Now, truth be told, I don't know if I'll use this often enough to merit upgrading to the full version, but if I need to you can bet I will without hesitation! Thanks for helping to end my search.
Used to be a good app
by Love2Travel on 2014/08/23 17:22
I used to love this app and it still can find the song with lyrics that you are trying to remember the name, and the artist of. Now to the bad. When I heard a song I liked, I would Sound Hound the song, go home to see if I had it, and download it if I didn't. A typical night at the bar and I have Sound Hounf out all night! Now when I go home, to see what songs I liked, there is no history! All I seeing is songs other people are finding (Well who cares about that?!) then there is a very stupid map, it probably uses a lot of data. It has albums listed all over this dumb map! It's not a map of my area and not any albums that I listen to!! What the heck is this map for? I do not care what song somebody 35 years of age different than me, is listening to!! I want to find the oldies song that I personally heard at the bar, and want to listen to now. But I can't 😠thanks to the latest download. Stay away, not worth the aggravation😤
A must have app!!
by SAHendry on 2011/06/06 01:41
This is by far the best app for finding out who plays a certain song you hear on the radio, or any other way to find out which artist is playing the song you you're curious about. Forget about the 'other app' that is out there where you can only ID a certain amount of songs which then prompts you to purchase the pro version which is also limited. However, the best part of Sound Hound is the ability to hum a song you have stuck in your head, into the microphone which then tells you which song it is! All of these wonderful and amazing features are all FREE! The only disappoint one might have is debating on whether to download Sound Hound or not, because you'll be seriously missing out!
Indispensable app for music lovers
by Heyjohnboy on 2013/01/03 16:10
If you just have to know what that song is, what album it was from, what year it was released, etc., this is a great app. They usually show the original year of release and the re-issue year, which I really appreciate, because to me, the year of release is the original, not the re-issue, which many other sites only show. The app seems to take more time to listen now, which helps its accuracy tremendously. It gives you lyrics too, plus videos when available. I also like the recommendations. All I'd like to see improved is the size of the text showing the album name and release year be a bit larger. Other than that, it's a great app that you'll appreciate many times over.
Off the Chain!
by Tanglia on 2012/06/03 21:59
This app is AMAZING! I don't remember the exact details so my feedback may be a little unclear. I was out of the country on vacation so not only was my phone on airplane mode, but also my Wi-Fi access was off. Part of our tour bus was on a fairly rural stretch of road so the bus driver (or maybe it was the tour guide) had pre-recorded music playing. I liked one of the songs that was playing so for what I thought was a very brief moment, I tried to get Wi-Fi access and tried using SoundHound to find out what the name of the song was. I really didn’t think I’d have enough time to even attempt to find out what the song was. Although I wasn’t completely sure of the outcome, unbelievably, in what seemed liked mere seconds, SoundHound was able to identify the song. Although it wasn’t until I was able to get back to the States. How did SoundHound do it? After I e-mailed myself the results, because it was in a foreign language, I was able to copy what information SoundHound was able to provide, paste it into Google Translate and have the singer’s information provided to me. Thank you SoundHound for being such a FABULOUS app!! You are off the chain!!
The 'Magical' hyperbole finally pays off
by Inf1uenza on 2010/04/30 15:44
My magical iPad finally got magical, thanks to SoundHound. Sing into it, hum into it, whatever--it knows the song, including a few classical pieces I hummed pretty poorly. But it's best functionality is as a supplement to or even a replacement for the iPod app's music player. Lyrics, band info, Pandora radio stations, you name it, this thing gives it to you instantly. I upgraded to the full version after about ten minutes of playing with it. But I only did it to reward the developers and to keep the updates coming; the free version has all the coolest features available and offers a limited number of monthly music IDs that is actually pretty generous. If you listen to music on your iPad, you need this app now.
Never able to find a match
by tylerlovesapples on 2014/01/18 08:40
I'm unaware of how much music Soundhound Inc. has, with which to find matches, but my estimate is that of the number pieces contained within the realms of their likely, relatively large catalog of music, is less than 1% made up of music from the classical genre. Aside from the most popular Mozart concerti or Beethoven symphonies, I've found that the entire genre has been neglected. Numerous times I've found myself strolling through the halls of my hotel to the calming melodies of what I suspected might be Albinoni. To be sure I wasn't mixing up Albinoni with the Vivaldi, I'd procure my iPad and, like a daft fool, hold it to the ceiling from whence came the noise, only to have the app in question: Soundhound, display a screen proclaiming that there was no match to be found. I'm sure it has no problem identifying Justin Bieber, but I'd like the distinct sounds from actual musicians and composers to be given more consideration.
Wow
by grahm217 on 2012/05/21 06:38
I have to say, this is one of the best designed, most intuitive, most complete apps I've used on this phone. I can see SoundHound replacing the default music player entirely, it is THAT good. The ability to search for music by humming the tune is spectacular, and light years ahead of similar applications. If it's a song you already have, they include the option to play the song without navigating away. And then, the ability to tune to your favorite parts of a song by simply tapping on the lyrics is a substantial improvement over other apps. The current upgrade price is steep for a mobile app, but the free version is so good, I'm still considering the upgrade. As it is, the free version is a MUST HAVE for any music lover!
Simple, Fast, Amazing
by winged_ninja on 2011/01/19 00:20
The music recognition of this app is not only accurate, but it's fast. It will probably take between five and ten seconds at most, and once it finds the song, there is usually a full list of helpful information. It tells the song, album, and artist; allows you to sample it and provides a link for it on iTunes; lists the tracks on the album, the lyrics, and the composers (when available). I have only tested it with an actual playback of the song, so I can't guarantee it works like it says it does with the humming. I assume it does, though, and even if it didn't, it's still well worth it (free, after all). I was very pleased with this app, and it saved me a lot of time looking up songs.
Very good. But…
by cbaker63 on 2013/12/23 03:09
I like the app a lot. The one thing that bugs me about this app, it's a lot like Shazam. But you guys do something that Shazam doesn't, singing and humming. Although, if you guys are looking to beat Shazam at its own game, here's some advice: - Improve the interface. I love the way the app looks, very pretty. Although I like to be able to go the previous page by swiping from the edge of the screen, you can't seem to do that here. - Stop listening when needed. One think I like about Shazam, it will stop listening once it figures out what song it is. I don't like to have to make it stop listening because I'm not sure if it will understand it. - Um, where'd you get my music. I like that feature, but… how'd you do that? I feel a little violated. Privacy please?
WOW!!! Better than Shazam!!!

I was verrry skeptical at first. What could be better than Shazam?!? It gets the song right most times if the conditions are just right... Well I just tested this app in the worst possible conditions, outdoor cafe: wind, traffic, talking, dishes, and my lady walking up in heels... and it got it right! Not once, but thrice! But Shazam is free right? Nope. They charge too after 5. But I never use either that often. As a nice plus, it does load faster (I hate missing the end of a song just cuz it loads slow) aaaand the tag button is HUGE! half the screen! Unlike Shazam's tiny corner tag now button. I feel Billy Mays here, but wait, there's more! It starts scanning AS it's listening, so you get the fastest results possible. Nice.
Great app
by Taco Tickler on 2015/02/28 15:45
I rarely write reviews unless it's a bad app but SoundHound is the exception. I actually had Shazam for a while b4 SoundHound even came out. Someone told me about SoundHound so I tried it. I liked it so much that I bought the paid version for around $2.99, I think. Idk it was a looong time ago. SoundHound. Worth it! To the developers, to take this app to the next level, make it possible to use SoundHound while listening to a video or audio recording that is playing on the same device. In other words, while watching a movie on Netflix on my iPhone I would like to use that same iPhone to use SoundHound to look up a song playing in the background of a movie or audio file or video file.

Pandora is the site of my choice although I don't use it a lot . I do rely on your service to make my life easier . Thank you Ps . I have had your service a long time (5yrs) and have changed my password several times and don't remember the one I used when I first came on board . If you want to send me what you have on my file in my accounts inception I would appreciate it as the history I have compiled in your site is very valuable to me I would hate if my history is deleted due to my incompetence with old password issues ! ;-( Thank you and please stay in business by your current owners , you are all valuable to me . Music is life . I am a musician as well . Peace .
Good App...could be Great
by Vladamirdrac on 2014/09/25 22:08
I've been using this app for a couple yrs now and is still the best out there. A few things I think could make this a "great" app: 1. When the lyrics don't populate, it searches the web for sites with the lyrics. But when you few the web page, it shows the site within the SoundHound web browser rather than safari. Problem: web pages don't flip to landscape view in SoundHound browser and to me this is important for better viewing. 2. If you're playing music to your headphones or other external speaker, there are some controls that are similar to what your iPhone music player has but lacks some important ones I think would be nice. It really should mirror the iPhones music player.
SoundHound Us The Best
by RollTide Go Bama on 2015/07/29 17:08
I looked at several apps that can be used to identify songs and provide lyrics. However, hands down SoundHound by far is the best overall technologically as well as practical and friendly interface. I find it very easy to use and it quickly identifies songs. I would recommend getting the purchased version since it is well worth it. While this is not sound hounds problem, I do wish that more lyrics were included in their library. I understand that it's the legalese that get in the way of SoundHound publishing more lyrics than they do. However, I hope they continue to work towards rectifying this and making improvements.
I use this all the time!!!
by Inja1148 on 2015/07/30 13:53
I get a lot of use out of this app and would gladly pay the price for the version without adverts, IF they were any extras that are not in the free version. But I couldn't see anything extra in the paid version. I highly recommend this to any music lover. It recognizes music from tv shows, obviously the radio, or if I just hum/sing into the microphone. I love that the lyrics appear and move along with the song. Also brings up videos. One of my favorite uses if I hear a song in a film I like and want to buy it, Sound Hound recognizes it.  One of the "must have" apps if you love music and especially those "one hit wonders" when you forget the name!
Possible Improvements & A Few Problems
by Steveo Pevo on 2015/02/22 22:28
This app is great, but I think the biggest thing that could help it is if there could be a way to organize the songs you have searched into groups so that if the song name or artist is forgotten we can find the song again by genre of music or even instruments included. Please consider! Update: I'm having a problem on the iPhone 5. The app is functioning very slowly and I'm having trouble staying signed in. My history and favorites are not loading properly. Some are listed as "Unknown Song" and I can't access the song I searched. Also, some of the songs I search cause the app to crash, resulting in it forgetting the song I searched. The app is crashing much more in general, like when I sign out or favorite a song. Please fix!
Best song ID app EVER!!!
by chadvan on 2011/09/23 18:47
I bought MusicID back in January 2011 and realized quickly that app doesn't recognize hardly any Red Dirt/TX country....very disappointing. I am a huge fan of this genre of country and wanted to know every song/singer I heard on the radio without having to call them everytime. I came across SOUNDHOUND about a month ago and it has identified all but 1 song!!! That's amazing considering this app is free! Do NOT waste your money getting any other song ID app, trust me. I use SOUNDHOUND all the time and I haven't been disappointed at all. Not to mention that is displays the lyrics to most every song, even the ones in my iPod. I haven't seen any ads for porn sites on this app either. GREAT APP!!!
Crashing update
by Gallonegro23 on 2013/08/08 02:01
This app is awesome and has been until this last update. The app now crashes every other song. If it doesn't crash, it gives the same song info for a completely different song. I played a song for the app and it came up with the correct info as normal. I then played a completely different song from a different genre of music and it came up with the same info. I then played nothing and asked it to give me info. It gave me the same info yet again. This was only after the app either locked up or shut down completely. Upon restart, it works fine...for one song. Please help, app support guys!
Too pricey and eats up battery
by 57U on 2012/06/11 14:05
This app used to be pretty good. It worked well. Now it is pricey, and the free app is full of ads. Battery went down 40% in 20 minutes. Horrible. $7 is too much for an app you use occasionally and the offers of different music must go. I do not care about the trend, I know what I want. What this app used to do was just fine. So lower the price, take out the ads and the suggested songs cycling through and you got a good app. I would buy the app in an instant. In other words even the feee app was better before the upgrade. It is also slow to load. Sometimes I miss the song because it takes so long to load the app. Anyway, go back this update makes this app worse. And lower the price. - you will get more sales, hence make more money!
Love it!
by Works seamlessly on 2011/06/27 17:46
This app not only identifies songs accurately, it does it when you think it'd be impossible. ie in a car with the windows down on the interstate, at a loud crowded bar, I even got it to identify a song playing in someone elses car at a traffic light! Plus this free version gives you the "buy it on itunes" option button so when u identify the song you can buy it right from the soundhound screen without having to exit the app and go to itunes separately then search for the song etc... It takes u right to the itunes store with the song already pulled up. I love this app!!! It's seamless with my iphone4. Highly recommended.
Beggars can't be choosers, excellent free app
by Kjr12521 on 2012/07/05 04:09
It's slow busy interface usually gets the job done in time. I miss some of the lost features of this update. I don't mind the ads since it is free. I never pay attention to them anyway. I was going to upgrade to the paid version until I read the reviews and learned about the inclusion of ads there too, loss of ability to record music for later analysis and its speed and recognition problems. I'll trust the many one star reviewers, use the free version and keep on looking for something better. Just know Soundhound that you have not instilled enough confidence in this user to earn a sale. So thanks for the freebie and no complaints there.
An A+++ Amazingly useful app!!!
by nt3grals on 2011/09/18 20:14
This app has it all! The music player has the lyrics along with it for almost every song you could have in your ipod library, and the music recognition feature is top notch! Just hit the big button to start the app "listening" to any song playing on your phone, or any song your litening to on your radio, tv, or where ever else. You can even sing the lyrics or hum the tune of the song you have stuck in your head, and it'll try to find it for you. This feature is excellent to figure out what a song is that your hearing at the moment. Overall this app gets an A+++ from me!
Slowwwwwest app ever?
by HawaiiMaui on 2010/11/23 13:24
Using an iPhone 3G so I'm on one of the older phones but regardless of wifi or no network this app is really slow. It takes about 10 seconds for screen clicks to register. On the upside it is free, works away from all networking so it'll cache your recording sample and you can later listen to the sample before submitting and wasting one of your 5 submissions per month. There have been times where I couldn't hear anything but noise in a sample and this app identified the song. It won't do that all the time so that's why it's nice in this app to replay a sample before submitting so you can learn what your iPhone is recording. Once a recording is submitted you can't relisten to it but if it id's it right you'll have links to the real song.
Still the best out there, but has major flaws!
by Alwayshome63 on 2013/03/13 17:20
This app offers more ways to share and enjoy music than any app out there. Speed is good. Shazam is faster. Recognizes a lot of music. Shazam has more in its repertoire. The way Soundhound beats shazam is that you can save the music you listen to. You get to download one free song a week too, that's kinda cool! The major issue I'm having is when it discovers a song, 90% of the time it takes me out of the app and sometimes looses the music it identified... Frustrating! Sometimes all I have to do is open the app back up and voila, it takes me to where we left off... Sometimes! This needs to be fixed. If there were a better app out there I would use it. But there's not. Please fix it!!!
ALMOST Perfect...
by Soulelectric on 2010/08/07 08:41
This app does what it's supposed to do very well. Holding the iPhone it up to a speaker has never failed to result in Soundhound finding a song. It's surprisingly fast and, honestly, the app incredibly useful to anyone who loves music! Some of the "extra features" aren't perfect, however, and that's why Soundhound only gets 4 stars for me. The lyrics search could be better. In one instance, I couldn't find the song I was looking for using the app with the couple of words I remembered. A simple Google search brought it up straight away, though. Same goes for the ability to "hum" your song, but I give Soundhound credit for trying. All-in-all, I'm VERY satisfied. You need this app!

Used to be great
by TACOinUSA on 2016/05/02 00:58
This used to be the app to own. But now they went to the toilet with it. The new version they got is worthless to me. It took me a whole song to figure out where I click for sound hound to tell me what song I was listening to. By the time I found it after endless of navigation in the app, the song was over.

by MEL42 on 2016/04/30 13:35
I truly enjoy being able to tap an app and discover who sings what when I truly want to know.

NOT GOOD

It's better than the alternative
by Pokerface Pro on 2016/04/19 03:16
This app is better than Shazam. It rarely struggles finding the tune and I love how the lyrics come right up and exactly where the song is playing. A must have.....
Not the SoundHound it originally was
by dniq on 2016/04/18 16:00
The app no longer offers music recognition and REALLY wants you to sign up. Which kind of makes the whole existence of the app pointless.

We carpool four days a week and listen to SiriusXM. Finding the lyrics to that obscure song from your past is generally easy for this app. But more importantly, learning about the artists and their history has made this app a valuable distraction from the mad traffic.
Love the app.

I love the ease of use and how quick the app finds the songs.

Is there a THIRD option out there for song identification?

by Awsomundi14 on 2016/04/08 03:48
When it can identify the song it's a really neat app. I like that I can automatically add songs to my Spotify list. And when it has the lyrics loaded for the song it follows along with the words for you. It identifies about 2/3's of the songs and has lyrics for usually half of them.
Great app
by L0ra32 on 2016/04/08 02:37

Basic App Feature Buried... Can't Find It?

The basic function of opening the app, hitting a button, and getting the name of a song and the band is gone. Now, you have to scroll around all this commercial stuff, to the point I couldn't actually find this basic function. I deleted the app because it now doesn't do what it used to do, and I hope Shazam didn't go down make the same changes.

Very good. But…
by cbaker63 on 2013/12/23 03:09
I like the app a lot.
WOW!!! Better than Shazam!!!
by Snake Eyes XIII on 2010/05/16 04:32
I was verrry skeptical at first.

An A+++ Amazingly useful app!!!
by nt3grals on 2011/09/18 20:14
This app has it all!
