New update is really bad
by safarian24 on 2020/08/05 18:04
The new update to Venmo, though design-wise is good, functionality-wise is terrible. On launch, every time, the app is slow to load. Takes a good 10-15 seconds of spinning wheel before timeline or anything loads - even if you close out the app and restart, same issue. Venmo balance does not report correctly. Sometimes it take 1 or 2 times of closing the app and restarted to get it to reflect. Any changes to Venmo balance used to be instant.

The app takes 6-7 seconds to become active on first launch after it leaves memory. Ui locks up on the “pay or request” create view when choosing multiple recipients. Im trying to get my friend group to move to Cash app. It is a better version of thus.

Fast and easy but can’t reverse payments
by Kristen belisario on 2020/08/05 16:03
Venmo is great and all but I don’t understand why they are unable to process refunds in an easier way. Accidently sent a payment to the wrong username (just 1 letter off) and venmo basically said to request the money from the user which was the only solution offered. Of course the other user I sent money to didnt respond. On behalf of Venmo, like any other customer service they should offer to reach out to the user to inquire for a solution. Now my money is gone and venmo basically said you’re on your own.
Fraud

I had 6k in my account and when I transfer 3k to my bank they never transfer to my bank and they froze my account for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks there was no money in my account. And ever time I talk to some one the would say only 1 thing they have to talk to different department. I would Suggest not use Venmo.

Opaque balance tracking
by Jbizness13 on 2020/08/05 10:00
Venmo as a service is very useful, but their accounting interface is terrible, if not shady. When you look at past transactions, you can’t see the source of your funds (Venmo balance, back account, credit card) — you can only see this when you make the payment. And the bank statements only show beginning/ending balance for the month, not with each transaction, so you have to calculate it by hand to check for accuracy, which is ridiculous.

Updated Version is Terrible
by nck18366381 on 2020/08/05 02:23
I’m not one who typically reviews apps, or anything else for that matter, but the updated version of the Venmo app is SO bad I’m hoping they might see this reviews along with other negative reviews and fix it. First off, I love Venmo. I use it regularly and have never had any issues with receiving or sending money. The newest version of the App, however, is AWFUL!!! It often takes several minutes to load. The balance function won’t update after you receive money or transfer the balance to your bank account unless you completely close app (I.e. exit, double click and swipe up). And it regularly freezes when I’m typing in an amount or description for payments. I don’t know who designed the updated version but they need to be fired. I never had any issues with the app prior to the update and always had a seamless user experience but now I’m considering switching to zell or another platform because the new app is so bad.

Zero - they let a massage client steal my money
by CMT california on 2020/08/05 00:50
After COVID-19 any massage therapist should be extremely careful and either shut down business or make sure that people wear a mask wear gloves and disinfect everything. The person should do this ahead of time to make sure everyone is safe. I take a deposit with no refund. Venmo took my money from me because a person did not want to follow COVID-19 safety rules last minute and was aggressive with me threatened me and did not care about taking money away from me. I would never use this account again. They are abusive towards women. I have no problem with men men and women are equally great. There is no problem with man there’s no problem with women. But when someone is disrespectful. After you clean off a whole station and buy supplies and they take your money back. I would never use a company like this again

by wingsxoxo on 2020/08/04 22:59
This service was recommended to me as fast and user friendly, but that’s not my experience. I just started using this service a couple days ago and now requests are on security hold and are unable to be completed. The part that is poor customer service is the chats with the representative are super long, like I was 138 in line waiting on a representative just to say sorry we can’t process this request and we are unable to say why. Super unsatisfied.

Changed my phone number and now I can’t access my Venmo account at all??? I still have all my login info but I can’t login because I can’t receive the text codes they send me. I’ve tried contacting Venmo MULTIPLE TIMES with no success. It is impossible to get in contact with anyone from Venmo if you have any issues. DO NOT TRUST VENMO WITH YOUR MONEY. I currently have money in my account that I can’t access due to lack of customer service from Venmo.
Terrible Customer Service
by Typofest on 2020/08/04 21:59
A roommate of mine needed to have Venmo to pay her share of bills and groceries in the house but Venmo keeps flagging her payment attempts as a “security risk.” When she called, their solution was to do nothing. Yup, they literally told her their system is just broken and they can’t, or won’t, do anything. So I guess we’ll be switching to CashApp? Thanks for nothing, Venmo.

Love the app BUT...
by justletmepostthereviewffs on 2020/08/04 19:29
....you really need to stop automatically connecting people. Imagine my surprise when I opened up the app to send $$ to a friend and the man who assaulted me was all up in my feed, despite me never “friending” him on anything ever. Leave it to the users to connect with who they want. Don’t do it for them.
Good but Missing Some Thing
by JSinggg on 2020/08/04 19:27
Recurring payments would be great (ie: my friend and I split a Netflix subscription so he pays me half on the day we’re billed automatically). Some sort of cash back or interest earning option would incentivize me to keep more money in my Venmo account, which in turn helps you guys 🤷🏻‍♂️

by AndreNels on 2020/08/04 17:18
Venmo is sorely lacking the feature to report abusive/scamming users. Blocking doesn’t stop the problem. This is a basic feature of all socially enabled apps—Venmo needs to get with the program.

My friend transferred $400 to my account I go to do an instant transfer to my personal checking account and it will not go through. And oh how convenient no customer service support to call because apparently they work bankers hours. How in the world are you going to be a 24/7 cash application and not have any sort of online tech support or offer any live tech-support?? This is literally an emergency situation where I needed to borrow the funds which I did.....I now have my funds sitting in this stupid account which I am unable to touch or have access to and will have no way to contact their customer service until Monday morning it is currently Friday 7:30 PM. I am beyond furious. I knew I should’ve gone with my gut and used the other three different cash apps I have on my phone which worked beautifully and have never had an issue with. I only last minute decided to use this one for the first time tonight never thinking for a second that I would not be able to access my funds. USER BEWARE PLEASE don’t use this stupid application....no tech-support after 4 PM M-F.
They lie to you
by alanaalexis on 2020/04/01 02:32
I have never had any problems with this company/app but today really changed all of that. I wanted to add money to my account to cover some charges so I transferred almost $90 from my bank account to my Venmo account. If you have used this app before you know when you make a payment to someone the money comes out of your bank the next day. I checked my bank account and it came out so I check Venmo and it doesn’t show up. I talk to customer service on the chat, over email, and on the phone. Over chat and email they tell me it is run as an ACH transfer and takes 3-5 business days to show in my account. I work in a bank with these types of transfers and they never and I mean NEVER take 3-5 days. They take one at the most two days. Furthermore it was not run as an ACH transfer it was run as an auto debit (as if I swiped my debit card). I asked multiple times why I was being lied to and no answers just a run around. The girl at customer service on the phone was really trying to help me but she just didn’t have any information. I don’t know if she was new or if they just don’t care enough about their customers and employees to give them info and training to be able to help people. Don’t EVER put money in your Venmo account. Wait for them to take it out of your account after you transfer it/make payments. They will take your money then lie to you and hold it for as long as they can get away with it.
wish I could give zero stars
by breiannmavraedis on 2019/08/05 17:08
I have money that was sent to me for bills on my Venmo and when I tried sending it to my bank it immediately locked me out and said my account is frozen... I’m not sure why but it won’t even let me do anything from this point in my account. I went online to your “help” page and followed the instructions for a frozen account... it ended up being a dead end. I then called customer support and they wouldn’t even tell me the issue with my account, just said it’s going to take 5-7 business days for an “account specialist” to look into my account. I don’t mind that, all I asked was if I could send that money back to the original sender or just cancel that payment. They said once a payment is sent through there’s no way to get it back to the sender, not even through customer support. So basically I have money sitting in my account and I can’t even touch it because my account is frozen? And they won’t allow me to speak with anyone before the seven business days. Absolutely shocked and mortified with this apps customer service skills. Very obvious that they don’t care about their customers experience and they have zero safeguards for protecting the financial aspect of this app. There should be some way to send that money back to the sender so I’m not sitting here waiting for nearly two weeks just to access those funds, or allow me to speak to an account specialist over the phone. Once this situation is handled I’m never using this app ever again.
Venmo card has been nothing but grief
by PJB2B on 2019/12/15 23:03
As far as transferring money to another person the service works pretty well , just like CashApp or PayPal. The Venmo card has been a horrible experience. For the first few days I had and used it I experienced no issues. Today it was a entirely different story. My card with adequate funds on it was declined everywhere causing much embarrassment. I finally reached out to Venmo and after several attempts got someone on the chat option. They basically told me they were being declined for security and could do nothing to assist me. Under normal circumstances I could understand and actually be thankful for a financial institution protecting my best interests but my card was declined at Kohl’s department store, two gas stations and even the ATM. The representative hand no remedy to give me beside cashing out to my bank and using my debit card. That would have been fine but the instant transfer wasn’t an option so 1 to 3 business days is now what I’ll have to wait to access the funds. Long story short if you want to send someone money who doesn’t mind waiting to get the actual money in the bank for a few days then Venmo is a fine option. If you want access to your funds quickly or the ability to use a debit card issue free use PayPal or your bank. Today’s issues put Venmo on the bottom of my list for fund transfer services for sure and the person I chatted with just solidified that I am making the correct choice.
Venmo is a horrible company
by Kevin.Christopher on 2020/02/19 05:33
There are so many issues with Venmo it’s completely ridiculous. Their app is a complete joke. Every transaction I’ve ever done has had issues. Basically you get a generic error that says it’s your bank that’s the problem and that they are rejecting the payment. Which is completely untrue. That happens like 20 times and then randomly on that 21st time it goes through an hour or two later. The customer service is the worst I’ve ever seen. They deactivate accounts without giving a reason or even attempting to contact the account holder first. They just deactivate the account and say we are not going to give you a reason (claiming that this is to protect their other users because knowing why is somehow a security risk). They don’t even let you respond. “If you have any questions on this decision, this matter is closed and we can’t help you”. All the funds in the account they put under hold and you will likely never see them again. They are basically a bunch of thieves taking money from good people who made valid transactions that they deem invalid for their own made up reasons that they don’t want to share. When they see an opportunity, they cash in. I could keep going on with their bad business practices but my advice to anyone is just stay away. I personally wish I had never used their service, if you can use something else. Unless of course you like throwing your money in the trash or burning it.
Frustrated and Disappointed 👎

I have had three venmo accounts and all of them had been shut down without any explanation. I use this app as a method of payment for my car cleaning services and without a doubt, each one gets shut down without hesitation in a matter of a couple of weeks, very frustrating. Venmo makes no effort to provide me with a reasonable explanation as to why ALL of my accounts have been shut down other than claiming it was their decision and I can no longer use their services. The third time this happened, I decided to call their customer service number to see if they could give me a reason as to why my account had been first locked. I called the direct extension that claims to handle exactly that. Despite waiting on the phone for 15 minutes, I was given literally no answer besides that I have to wait for an email to come (the one where they don’t tell me anything) which would take 3-5 days. Why have a direct line that handles frozen accounts when they really don’t handle anything? What I ASSUME to be the reason for all of my accounts being shut down is that the name on my profile does not match the one on the card. Which for privacy reasons, I choose to only use the first letter of my last name, and when I made my other accounts and had to use my parent’s cards, of course the names would not be matching. Very frustrated and disappointed in both the customer service and the functionality of Venmo.
Venmo is LITERALLY the worst!!!
by Jules Jimenez on 2019/11/11 08:02
When I first started using Venmo a year ago, I had zero problems. Friends and family would send me money and I would use “instant transfer” to my bank account since that was the quickest way to send money and I would receive it with NO ISSUES! All of sudden I am getting problems with the instant transfer. I have contacted Venmo myself and let them know the situation thinking they could fix the problem since it’s on them, but they are just useless and they offered me a “better solution” to the problem which was waiting 2-3 business days for the money to be sended to my bank account. HAHAHA NO. So apparently now their system is “declining” my instant transfer funds and there is nothing they can do about it. How could you not do something about this!? It’s your company declining my transfer! If anything YOU SHOULD BE THE ONE TO FIX THIS. All I am trying to do send MY MONEY that I need to in my bank account, and yet I can’t touch it. This is absolutely ridiculous. This isn’t the first time this has happened to me with the instant transfer fund, but now that this is happened to me a second time, I am done. After I figure out a way to get all the money onto my bank account, I am deactivating Venmo. I will never use Venmo again. If you read this, please don’t waste your time on Venmo, because like they told me, there is nothing they can do about it. I am extremely disappointed and upset. Goodbye Venmo. 👎🏼
Was best cash app until

I had a problem with my ATM withdrawal. Not having any transactions for over 24 hours, when I went to the ATM it declined me even though there was more than enough money in there. Thinking it will be a simple fix ended up being a 24 hour headache with still no resolution, And my money on able to be withdrawn or even used for purchases. Went from the best app to the worst app in one day! The funny part of all this headache, every time I called they said there is no holds or locks on your account everything looks fine. Something you must’ve done at the ATM cause the computer to decline it. They couldn’t clear anything in the system and the best suggestion was wait a few hours and try again. After trying again and again, and calling them again and again. I was still on able to withdraw from the ATM. They don’t know why I was being blocked and said there is no hold on my account. I said to them if I can’t withdraw from an ATM I guess there’s no point of me having the Venmo account and I should just cancel it. Their response was yes I agree that would probably make sense if you’re an able to use it. Never in my life have I heard a company tell you to cancel them. And that was from not only 1, but 2 people. 1 of them being a manager. And the crazy part of it all is still no one can override the computer that’s blocking me from using my ATM card. So needless to say I’m done with Venmo
Constant issues with Venmo freezing my money
by Shaktigoddess on 2020/05/14 04:24
They’re holding money paid to me by friends of about 183$. I tried transferring to my bank account and it shows my account is frozen. I can’t transfer it my account and can’t pay someone off the limbo balance. I’ve contacted customer service, email, live chat, read all the preprinted information which doesn’t help since all those are about money owed. This is money for me that’s just sitting there. I’ve sent them a copy of my drivers license to show it’s me. Signed up in Facebook where I only have one account. It’s still saying to contact customer support! What else am I supposed to do. It’s signed up to a new bank account at a credit union. So I correctly entered the routing number and proper account. It’s still frozen. No answer. My account is verified through email. We are at a stand sat I’ll since January. I just want my account open and give me my money. So I ask my friends if it came back to them? Pay me again but in cash? I don’t know what to do at this point but I’m losing money because nobody can pay me in Venmo. So many dinners where nobody has cash so we all Venmo. I’ve lost money friends are trying to reimburse me. I never see it because....my account is still frozen. Since January. 😑 my bank can’t speak to third party and it’s not my bank with the issues.
Convenient but still frustrating
by FrustratedHerm on 2020/02/24 17:31
Venmo is a convenient money sharing app since it’s the one most people use but man oh man does it have some serious hang ups. It automatically shares your transaction history with all of your friends. It pulls these friends from Facebook and your phone and makes that list public as well. So anyone of those people can see everyone you know and who you’re paying for what. Also as far as I have found there’s no way to turn off the friends feed or make your personal history your home feed. It defaults to the friends one meaning every time you open the app you see an endless list of your mild acquaintances’s financial transactions. Rachel from high school must be getting married cuz she just Venmoed a wedding photographer and a dj. Your old coworker Tom just paid someone you’ve never heard of for burritos. Carol just paid Jennifer for some wine. Good for them. Glad they’re still having that wine Wednesday. But like who is this for? I hate it. I just wanna slip my friends some money when they grab me food or pay my portion of the rent without going to the bank. Who wants to see how their friends are spending their money? Why even mix the social aspect into it? Get it I guess cuz cash is so last decade or whatever but be prepared to find it as annoying as any other social networking site.

Venmo is literally one of the worst apps you could possibly get. I tried to send money to my account instantly and it wouldn’t go through. The excuse I was given was because of “suspicious activity”. Basically whatever they deem “suspicious” is grounds for your account to be frozen, delayed, and or locked completely. Pretty much any large sum of money is apparently “suspicious” so I wasn’t able to get my money out even after I said oh well I’ll just do the standard transfer and wait the 1-3 business days. I had to send the money to a friend and have him do it instantly and send me the money on cash app. I’d honestly advise using cash app over Venmo easily. It’s simple, easy, and doesn’t have so much baggage with it. You just type the amount you want and you can send the money to someone instantly and take that money out whenever you want to. Customer service was awful and they didn’t believe the account actually belonged to me and had me go through at least 4 different security processes on the phone to make sure it was actually my account even though I explained in detail only things an account holder would know about their own specific account. They tried to make it way too complicated to use and it’s honestly a hassle anytime you actually want to use the app. I deleted it so fast after getting my money out and I’m never using it again
Payment problems
by JBritz420 on 2019/11/15 20:19
I have money in my venmo account and it’s not allowing me to pay someone with the money in my account it only allows me to pay with my debit card but I can’t pay with my debit card if my money is in my Venmo this app has serious problems that need to be addressed. Your instant transfer system needs to be fixed I talked to a support person and they told me that somedays you can instant transfer and some days you can’t this is upsetting and brings me to the conclusion that I will not be using this app. I can’t give the app no starts but if I could I would considering that your app isn’t compatible with my bank so I have to manually verify my bank which takes 3 days and then the standard transfer takes up to 3 more days so I cant get my money for a whole week like that is an issue. If I can instant transfer yesterday I should be able to today especially if there wasn’t no suspicious activity or anything of that matter on the card or account. Once I get my money I will not be using this app and I will advise all the people I know that have it to use a different app that actually gets you the money when you need it, I’m also never going to advise people to use the app or download it because of these problems you are hold peoples money and causing problems for them. I would fix your problems before your app falls under.
Transferred Money That I Couldn’t Even Use And Now My Money Is Being Held!
by Breonika McGee on 2019/11/02 02:47
I got my school refund on my chime account. I had a new card ordered and had not gotten it yet. And I needed the money, so I sent it to my brothers chime account. He then sent it to my Venmo account because I had that card. ALL of my transactions were getting declined, except a couple that went through. So I sent the money back to my brother, and ask him to try the transactions and to try to withdrawal from his Venmo. Same problem. So we contacted their chat team about it and we had recently moved so we figured it was happening because we moved to a different state. We called about it a couple times. And they ended up freezing our accounts! They asked us to send pictures of our State IDs or Drivers licenses to prove our identity. We did that. I also sent the a picture of our lease to update our new address. They told me that I went against their user agreement and that my account was being permanently closed and that they were investigating my money for up to 180 days to see if they can give me MY money back! I sent them pictures of my accounts showing what I did. And I also kept the chat transcripts and email communications with the company. No luck at all. And they won’t tell me how I violated the user agreement! I need my money! I have kids and bills to pay and I can’t now.
They really froze my account and trying to hold my money
by johniquar on 2019/03/27 00:49
Okay hello my name is johniqua so it says that Venmo is holding my money okay after my money is returned I’m not using Venmo again. I understand I violated some kind of rule or whatever. I clearly explained what happened plenty of times 4 times in a row sent my ny stat Id picture twice. I don’t get it I couldn’t put the money on my card I clearly explained that then it says I can’t use my account how in the world is it that sending money is so difficult. when you try to get your hard earned money back to you. which your the rightful owner of someone tells you they’re gonna hold it oh heck no. I will like my money returned to me no one has to ever worry about me using this app again. I’m sure I will never use this app. I will be darned if someone freezes my account then I give my Id and tells me they’re holding on to my money as if I’m a little kid who just got there allowance and is spending to much money I understand not you fault I chose this app and have to deal with whatever but if I knew I was causing trouble sending the money back to my boyfriend and requesting it back because we both couldn’t find a card to place the money on I would’ve been asked my sister to use her bank card to put my money on man why the heck why do I have to go through this so I really can’t get my money back
Venmo Original
by Waiting, forever on 2018/10/07 03:30
I was a Venmo original user, telling all my friends this is the future of payments. I started saying “hey guys Venmo me, oh you don’t have Venmo? What’s wrong with you? Don’t you know about Venmo? We don’t need cash to split bills anymore.” We’ll, this was also in a period when Venmo said they would pay users if they invited their friends and they signed up. Until this day, I still get users that sign up, because of me, but Venmo does not pay me like they said they would. While I love their application, I don’t appreciate that they didn’t pay me for getting many of my friends, contacts, and business colleagues on Venmo. Maybe thousands of users but Venmo only paid me for the first few users. Venmo is great, but they owe me. I was inline with the thinking that there must be a better way to pay people, and I found Venmo, which was a simpler way to pay people than PayPal, which many people did not trust at the time. I convinced people that it would be safe and efficient. Venmo owes me for all the people I invited, as they said I would be reimbursed. Great app overall, just pay me. :)
Much easier to use than writing a paper check.
by sushichick66 on 2017/12/30 03:42
Very easy to use money transferred instantly. Much easier than writing a traditional check. I believe Venmo is also PayPal. I took away one star due to privacy. When you sign up it automatically uploads all of your contacts in your phone without warning. It also connects to social media like Facebook. Once you've registered you can change these privacy settings, so be aware to go to settings immediately if you don't want all of your contacts who use Venmo to see your transactions. Also for each transaction you can select if you'd like your friends, the public to see Who you've paid, minus the amount. You can also set each transaction to private. Personally, I don't understand why it's anyone else's business who you pay for what kind of service. It's a Bizzarre concept to me, but then I don't live my life through social media. I am only using Venmo as a form of payment, like cleaning services. Still, it's easy to use and convenient. Just make sure to check Settings before you start transactions unless you want all of your friends, Family and coworkers to know what you're up to.
Cash app is overwhelmingly superior.
by pyrolion54 on 2019/11/19 02:32
I’ve only had one transaction over Venmo and it’s already proved unusable. I was sent money by a friend on Venmo, against my raised objections. I already use Cash app, Zelle, PayPal frequently, but they sent it via Venmo anyway. I go to transfer the money to my bank account, and I get a vague error message. I successfully connected my bank account, but when I went to send the money, I got a vague error message. So I contact support through chat. I’m 34th in line to speak to a representative. After waiting 15 minutes, the chat window closes on its own. I reopen it, but have to get in the back of the line. I try again the next day. Same thing. A week later, I try again and get connected with a representative. I explained the situation, and the response was literally “the system is showing an arbitrary error for reasons that we representatives are not allowed to see on our end.” That’s right, the system had an error for reasons not shared with customer service reps. After some back and forth, the representative figures out that the error is because my bank info is on another Venmo account- my wife’s. Apparently Venmo does not allow a bank account number to be on more than one account. So, my wife and I can’t use the app at the same time. It’s just ridiculous. TL;DR just use cash app!!!!!
Really handy - a few issues
by handsomejex on 2018/09/03 13:21
I use this app a ton and im a huge fan. One thing that enraged me though is that they’ll sometimes keep your money hostage when you try to pay someone , adding in layers of verification requirements while possibly collecting interest on the sums held up- they don't notify the sender that the money they sent was unclaimed allowing the sender to choose an alternative payment channel - I learned from a young homeless woman who had a Venmo account who i sent money to for train fare, that they would not allow her to accept what I sent. I consider this to be abusive of their fiduciary role. I want them to fix this and make it easier for people in her situation to access funds to be able to improve their situation or make it clear to the person who sends money that the money never reaches the intended recipient. I would give them fewer stars for this issue, but i find for regular use with established contacts it works well. I wish i had the option to preschedule payments or set regular payments. I also wish that my venmo balance would apply to my payment when the amount exceeds the balance- instead of sitting there!
Bad experience with VENMO!!
by VUGW on 2019/04/01 18:45
After 1 hr 26 min hold-time plus countless other phone calls on the same matter, VENMO decided on their own and without a detailed explanation of their decision to BLOCK my Black American Express Centurion card from my profile. All the rep and supervisor say “it’s a security issue” yet AMEX indicates there is ZERO issue on their side. Additionally, no resolution was offered! Not from agent or supervisor. No one said: “let me see what we can do”. “Let’s see how to resolve this”. Instead I heard : “ I’m sorry but there’s nothing we can do”. When I asked to speak to their security department : “ I’m sorry but we cannot transfer you” . When I asked to speak with another supervisor: “ I’m sorry but I’m the top of the line and the only one here today to speak to” It’s not ok and it is unacceptable that a company act this way. So after that long hold time I still do not know 1) what the security flag is 2) how to resolve the matter. VENMO is no longer my company of choice when there are so many others in this field! I’m going to pursue this matter with the correct agency to clear this — ASAP!
A Must Have in today’s Society

With fast moving lives and technology only growing, it’s about time money catches up. Venmo makes it fun easy to send, receive, and request money from your friends and family. If you’re a secluded person or like some privacy then just make your transactions private so no one can see them. The only person that sees a private transaction is you and the person you are sending, requesting, or receiving money from. Your received money is then stored in your own secure account until you decide to transfer it to your bank. My transfers usually take about and hour to a day. The more you use the app the better and faster it gets. If your 18 and can’t wait to transfer your money you can sign up for the Venmo card that connects to your Venmo secure account balance. That way you don’t have to wait. Those cards come in a variety of colors, so there is one for everyone. If you haven’t tried Venmo already I highly suggest you give it a go. You don’t know what you’re missing out on.
Shady Hidden Fee
by agnu the tiny on 2020/01/28 18:16
They deducted $5 from one of my transactions because they told me I was in a $5 dollar deficit from a transaction that took place over a year ago. I was never given a notification nor an email saying that the payment method didn’t go through and I owed Venmo $5. My Venmo wallet even said I was at $0.00. Not “-$5.00”. So they waited until I made a transaction and I noticed it was $5 short. The only thing they told me was a transaction I made a year ago with a specific account didn’t work, my bank couldn’t provide a routing number or account number for that account they said I used. That account in question HAS NOT BEEN AN ACTIVE BANK ACCOUNT SINCE 2016. So of course it’s not going to be a usable account. Which begs the question, why would I use that account to make a payment and why was it not declined from the very beginning? I even tested it by transferring $1 from that account to my friend, and it immediately declined it like it should have. All I’m saying is Venmo and PayPal have some very shady ways in collecting revenue from their customers via hidden fees. They basically gave me the run around about it. I wouldn’t be so disgruntled if I was given a heads up prior to the transaction that I was in a $5 deficit to them. But there was no notification and my Venmo wallet said I was squared at $0.00.
Disappointed and frustrated
by Nickchap85 on 2018/12/22 19:02
Had a friend want to send me money but they only use Venmo so I decided to download and set it up everything went great setting it up including the bank account until it came time to add my debit card for payments and instant transfers. It wouldn’t allow me to add my bank debit card or my credit card. I called my bank and they said they work with Venmo and my card should be working no problem. So I tried to contact Venmo today and they are closed to phone calls so I couldn’t talk to a person I could only email and or chat (txt) with them and they told me it was flagged and could not be added and that they couldn’t tell me why and said they weren’t provided that information and it was done by there automated system and there was no explanation they could give me and there was nothing they could do about it. I asked who would be able to give me that information and then they said there is no information available.. now I have to wait and transfer to my bank account in hopes they don’t try to flag that and hold my money. It’s not $20 bucks I’m trying to get out of my Venmo account either. If Venmo will correct my issues or even atleast give me an explanation I’d be happy to update my review but as of now I unfortunately have left this type of review.
They Share Private Info.
by Mmkayerin on 2019/01/29 01:39
So I got a new phone and as such, ended up locked out of my Venmo account. I reached out with my email address on file, confirmed my private bank information, and after two weeks I cannot get any response to be let in to my account. They’re saying they need an image of my ID without any information covered as if the verification I provided already isn’t enough, but I am a victim of domestic violence and as such, requested written confirmation that an image of my ID would not ever be shared with anyone else before I provide it. THEY REFUSE TO GIVE IT TO ME. They will NOT put in writing that if my ex, who I named specifically, reached out for info about my account, they would not provide it - why won’t they agree not to give my personal information out to anyone else? This is SO scary, SO troubling, and enough for me to take my business elsewhere which is such a shame as I was considering migrating over to them entirely. I have followed up with them again in hopes to regain access to my account and once I do, will be pulling all my information and money out of it and requesting to be wiped from their database. I would never recommend Venmo to anyone and I will be taking this information anywhere I can so others are aware of how dangerous it is to trust Venmo with their private information.
Instant transfer fails!
by Jenniferlori on 2018/08/05 16:38
When I first downloaded and added the app I didn't have any problems. So I had my family download the app too. Then all of a sudden my instant transfer option was not working. The only option that would work is the standard 3 business day option. I called my bank and they said it wasn't them because Venmo didn't even attempt the transfer. When I contacted Venmo they had no idea why it was happening, they actually said that! Then they said that it does happen at random and I was the lucky one! Then they told me the only way I could transfer to my bank was by using the standard 3 day option. This is ridiculous! I only downloaded this app because of the instant transfer option. My KIDS were out of town and I needed to get funds to them immediately. Once again Venmo FAILED and couldn't make the transfer...only showing "Sorry your transfer did not go through". I tried to test it out and by sending someone else funds and it was all a hit or miss! One said he could transfer then of course could NOT. Either way my kids did not get their funds when they needed it!!! I had to drive 2 hours right after I had a baby to get it there because Venmo FAILED me again! Only use Venmo if you're not in any rush to see your money in your bank.
Venmo is unacceptable !
by _4ktay on 2020/05/01 15:05
I am very disappointed in venmo and will probably never use it again. I understand you guys freeze accounts when you suspect something but the process to unfreeze takes way to long. I have $190 in my frozen account & I need this money to help support my household in this corona situation but I am still under review after 2-3 days of sending my iD in. Cashapp instantly makes you take a picture within the app of you iD and you are back to using your money. It makes me very upset that I have to go through this not only do I have to ask people for money but pay them back when my account unfreezes. I DONT KNOW WHEN MY ACCOUNT IS GOING TO UNFREEZE. Yes I already sent my iD I also talked to a Venmo assistant who agreed and said he sees my iD and I have to wait for a specialist to fix it. My thing is why aren’t I already talking to a specialist about my situation not a customer support person who barley has control over helping my situation. I callled not only did I wait and hear your wait music for almost 20 mins when they finally answered and helped me they told me I had to wait for the specialist! Y’all could’ve told me that in a email after I receive my money I will be withdrawing and going back to cashapp because this is unacceptable. Have a nice day and keep safe from corona.

Venmo doesn’t even deserve a star. I recently got a Venmo debut card and the other day decided to make it my viable option to use for expenses and daily living. On the first day August 2nd this card worked fine, as the second day approached I noticed the card decline at a gas station, I didn’t understand and had them run the card again. Declined again. I then called the number on the back of the card only to find out that you can not speak to a human on the weekends. You can only chat with a mobile agent at 7AM Pacific time. So I had to sleep in my car as I was an hour away from home and had no other financial means. I tried calling the number on the back of card but no one is available you can only activate it deactivate the card. When I was able to chat with a mobile agent through text messaging they said sorry for inconvenience but there is nothing we can do. I had $1000 plus in the account and was unable to get gas, they did not care about my welfare and did not has e a supervisor or anyone that could assist or was willing to assist. As a result I could not get gas in my car and was unable to make it to work where there is a zero tolerance policy for tardiness. I lost my job, my safety and peace of mind due to Venmo
Froze my account for no reason
by Paris Maxwell on 2019/07/23 15:10
I recently got a Venmo account this month, and it was all going pretty smoothly for myself when I found out my account had been temporarily deactivated for some unknown reason. Keep in mind I only had my account for 9 days, but the day before my account was deactivated I transferred my Venmo balance to my bank because I had a feeling this would happen. I looked into the situation further and I saw people rarely got their accounts back... which results in Venmo holding your money for a total of 180 days! This is where you shouldn’t download their app when I tell you that Venmo’s TOS states that every transaction can be considered a violation and therefore be subject to being flagged. They can literally flag your account if they want to and they don’t have to a reason for it. Thus, holding your money waiting for you to verify with an ID... BOOM your account is locked with your money in it without anything you can do. If you don’t believe any of this google it your self. Venmo has a big history for deactivating accs with hundreds upon thousands of dollars being in held from users. All I want is my account back and to make sure my money is being transferred safe without having to worry about my account being terminated for no reason on your side.
It’s my money and I want it NOW!!
by I approve this app on 2019/02/10 03:48
Really!? 2-3 business Days just to transfer your money from your Venmo account to your bank or debit card? That blows. I suggest everyone try the Zelle app as soon as someone sends me money through Zelle I get a text from both Zelle that someone transferred me money and I also get a notification from my bank telling me they processed a check for the amount I just reviewed on Zelle. So I don’t even have to go into the Zelle app and say transfer to my bank, IT DOES IT FOR ME! So nice and convenient. I have nothing to do with the Zelle app I am just impatient and want my money that someone sends me right away and to have it accessible and ready to spend using my own debit card from my own bank instead of having to get a Venmo card just one more card to carry around in my wallet. I don’t use Venmo to make purchases or pay friends back for pizza or anything I use it to just collect money for my businesses and the services we provide. So again it’s my money and I want it now, I don’t want to have to wait 2-3 days for it to get into my own personal bank account or be charged a fee to do it right away like other apps do like the CashApp. That’s just absurd take a percentage of my money Bc I want it now!!! Again Zelle is where it’s at, it’s the beezkneez!
DO YOUR RESEARCH ABOUT VENMO!!
by Bmarie19 on 2019/12/09 15:17
I sent $388 through Venmo to my mom and they froze both of our accounts asking for verification. We both uploaded our ID’s and were told it would take 3-5 business days to be reviewed by and account specialist. After the review period we were told our accounts were permanently revoked without any explanation. I didn’t mind that part at all honestly because the point of using Venmo is because I though it would be convenient and efficient and it was anything but that! Now this is the insane part. They did not volunteer any information about the $388 they had of my money. When I questioned them through email (that’s the only way of communicating with an account specialist), I was given a vague response about their investigation would take up to 180 day’s and the funds were a part of the investigation so they would let me know at the end of the 180 days if they could return any part of my money back to me!! Now after hearing this I went on BBB website for Venmo she literally every other complain is a story just like mine, some for thousands of dollars. I have no idea how Venmo is getting away with stealing people’s money but they are. There are many different apps like this so use one of them and stay away from Venmo at all costs!!
Glad to have!

Had friends tell me to get this multiple times but never wanted it or needed it until recently I needed this for an important purpose to receive some money so I finally gave in and downloaded VENMO, and I’m so glad that I did. Taking a bit to learn and maneuver but I will get there. One downside I don’t like and that’s aggravating me (although I have set mine to private) is that when I open the app I see people’s business (people I know of that I don’t care to be reminded of and folks I don’t know transactions of sorts, and I find that so very annoying). I still give 5 stars even with the annoyances bc I’m hopeful that with the right setting I can get rid of all that extra junk I see about other folks bc I only care what my personal business is doing, not theirs. Great app. overall that I can tell. Going to be very handy at times for me. Another awesome thing that much use is free and certain usage is very reasonable fee(s) so that makes it much, much better. Thanks VENMO! Regards, A new customer, Brian S.
Great Payment Platform...
by Bagz-O-Money on 2020/04/19 19:14
It’s been approximately 6 months since adding Venmo to a few similar money transferring formats I had already been using. I added Venmo as it is an alternative payment platform provided by PayPal. It provides users with an extremely easy P2P payment format. Venmo users have the opportunity to go well beyond just paying other people. They can signup to receive a Venmo MasterCard debit card that affords the freedom to purchase whatever from virtually wherever. Regardless of purchasing in-store or online, as long as the retailer accepts MasterCard or even PayPal (Venmo being a PayPal subsidiary), it’s all good. Only downer, the balance held on a Venmo account MUST cover any transaction in its entirety as partial payments of transactions are not allowed. But I have a linked bank account that will always cover, so not enough of a biggie to warrant decreasing my rating or to provide anything less than my full recommendation for all those who haven’t already to start utilizing the awesome Venmo app by downloading it now!
Basically perfect
by alletoile on 2018/07/07 08:11
I LOVE Venmo, my only complaint is that it can be annoying toggling between two different banks (one checking account with my bank where all my deposits go, the other is an online savings account where I put money aside to pay off loans and other bills). So if I’m using one account for every day payments, it’s a pain to switch to the other account to take money from there. But honestly it’s not that big of a deal overall, especially when this app makes it so quick and easy (and secure) to pay people. I hate owing money, so being able to almost instantly pay someone back is amazing. And I REALLY hate fronting the money for something, and there’s always the friend who is short right now but will get you back later...and you know you’ll never see that money again. Not anymore, it’s insanely simple to pay someone (and to send payment requests to anyone who “forgets” to pay you back right away). As Rihanna widely commanded, pay me what you owe me.
VENMO IS ON SCAMMERS SIDE !!!
by Upset Jessica on 2020/07/01 20:27
So I was scammed by a scammer 4 years ago ,she purchased my Chanel purse in person and Venmo me $3000 and it showed on my balance .When I got home and tried to transfer the money ,MY ACCOUNT WAS FROEN ! I reached to Venmo customer service and they never solve the problem! All they told me was “Venmo is not for business “,THEY RETURNED MY MONEY BACK TO THE SCAMMER AND LOCKED MY ACCOUNT !!THEY WERE ON SACAMMER’s SIDE ! I END UP WITH LOST OF MY CHANEL AND FROZEN VENMO !I spent 3 months trying to solve this problem!I Was so sick and tired to explain to DIFFERENT MANAGERS OVER AND OVER AGIN !!! So I gave up ,deleted Venmo and never think of it again. Today ,1of July ,it’s been 4 years , I tried to make a new account with different number and Email because my friend only accept Venmo, but my account is still frozen I couldn’t add any bank account or card .the customer service says that they’re forwarding me to another team to handle this which takes 8 to 10 business days. Overall ,been scammed is not Venmo s fault ,I have responsibilities for it ,but as a VICTIM in this case , I am really disappointed at how unreasonable they are ,only follow the policy and rules .Why can’t ppl work at Venmo be understanding ,kind ,like other bank s customer service ????Freeze victim ‘s account doesn’t makes any sense !!!!!!
Unable to Add Debit Cards to Venmo Account
by getthef0rk0ut on 2019/03/11 19:36
Today I downloaded the Venmo app and set up my account. I was so excited to start using this app, as everyone I know uses it and raves about how much they love it. After repeated attempts (about 12) to add either of my two VISA debit cards to my Venmo account, and receiving the same error message each time (you can’t use this card in Venmo, try another card), I’ve given up hope that I will ever be able to connect either of these cards to my account, and therefore it’s unlikely that I’ll ever desire to use this app. I do not wish to connect my Venmo account to my bank, I refuse to use a credit card and incur the 3% charge for each transaction, and I’ve verified that my primary debit card is not connected to my PayPal account. I’ve read through the FAQ section, tried every bit of troubleshooting I can think of, and still I am extremely disappointed that Venmo is not the easy, convenient app that everyone says it is. I wish it were actually possible for me to at least connect my primary debit card to my Venmo account, but I guess it’s not meant to be. 1/10 would not recommend ☹️
HORRIBLE money app.
by Kdejesus on 2020/05/06 13:03
I’ve only used this app for a month and I’ve had way too many problems only for them to give a stupid FAQ answer in an email and not give me a LEGIT answer. I tried sending money to a friend and Venmo said it was paid but nothing in my bank account showed that. Waited a week, money still has not gone through and still no statement in my bank account that there was even a payment pending. I assumed something was wrong with Venmo so I sent The payment again. Same thing, no pending transaction for a week. A week and a half goes by and BOTH PAYMENTS GOT TAKEN OUT LEAVING MY BANK ACCOUNT OVERDRAFTED. Venmo was ridiculous in the fact they covered the second payment instead of bouncing back the insufficient second payment. My account got frozen because of this. Fast forward, I paid my Venmo debt and have patiently waited for my account to unfreeze which should’ve been today (5/6). ACCOUNT STILL FROZEN!! AND THEY TOOK MY PAYMENT BACK TO THEM IMMEDIATELY FOR THAT! I’ve waited 5 days already for my account to unfreeze and now I have to wait for someone to email me back to unfreeze it. Once my account unfreezes, I’m transferring any funds on my Venmo back to my bank account and NEVER using this stupid app again. It’s just a headache for NO REASON.
So close to 5 stars, but as in the real world
by SGTMCLAIN on 2020/04/29 21:40
Just like in the real world, when you mess up, that’s usually what is remembered... When you tell customers that have your Venmo Card (physically in hand for purchase everywhere MasterCard is excepted) that when you make a purchase “we always use card balance first then reload it from attached bank in $10 increments to cover additional amount if card balance not sufficient” then that’s how you should always do it.. I made a purchase while having more than half available on card balance yet they took full amount from other Payment method and when I asked why, they sent a bunch of emails trying to convince me that that’s how they have always done it, and on same day send me purchase Reciepts where it says “your Venmo balance wasn’t sufficient to cover purchase so we added from your bank to cover difference” Lol, so you get 4 stars until you can stop emailing me with excuses and acting like I’m in the wrong ... it wasn’t a big deal to me until you replied telling me “that’s how it works”... 😉
Worst Customer Service I’ve Ever Experienced
by Dankmynugget on 2019/11/14 14:47
Hands-down the worst customer service I've ever experienced. This is not how a company should treat their "valued" customers and I will be sure to use Venmo as the prime example of poor customer service in the many years to come. My phone was stolen and hacked. As soon as I noticed my Venmo account being used, I reported it to both their security team and my bank. Once I created an entirely new bank account, reset Venmo passwords a second time, and registered the new card, I called to request it to be unfrozen. The promise was they would reach back to me in 7-10 days. After not hearing anything, I called again and they said it was still being processed. This third time they finally directed the case to an analyst “C” who will remained unnamed at this time. Then, after waiting over a month to hear back from Venmo staff, they tell me there's nothing they can do and issue me, a victim throughout this entire process, a lifetime ban from using the product. “Your account has been permanently deactivated and we regret to inform you that we can no longer offer you the Venmo service.” Is this how a company should treat any customer? Let alone one that's used their product from the start?
Debit Card and Support
by Ben Klotzbach on 2019/04/08 16:02
I received the debit card they offer to use your funds. I have tried it at multiple atms and online purchases. It has been declined every time and has shown a positive balance since I’ve opened the account. I called the support number and the woman was very nice but said some users cards don’t always work for atm purchases and there is no reason for it and no way to correct it. I was also told the same thing with online purchases and how they may not work but that it should work in store. So I am now off to try the card for an I store purchase to see if it will work or be declined all ways around. When I asked for more information they said it’s what they are told and that they don’t know the reason and so on and so forth. I’ve never heard of a company not letting there employees know how things work as well as someone who is partnered with MasterCard and owned by PayPal. If I were either company I’d be livid that people are given no solution and aren’t using their card which in I’m sure MasterCard is losing out everyday as I was told this happens to a lot of customers and no fix. Good luck Venmo. You might be new but how you can not know about the services and products you offer is mind blowing.
Was good-they Dont support joint accounts
by uihhkmbs on 2019/02/07 02:13
They were great. Until I was had to change my bank to my husbands because we’re married. I tried to add my bank account but it wouldn’t let me. I contacted Venmo they that since my husband already was connected to our checking I couldn’t. They only allow one Venmo per checking account. They said I would have to add my debit or credit card which they will take 1% for debit charges and 3% for credit. I use Venmo more than my husband so we decided I would link my Venmo to the checking account and he would link his account to our debit card. He deleted the checking account but it still wouldn’t let me link to checking. Contacted Venmo again and they said that even though he deleted the bank, he still is linked to the account until he calls them himself to “release” his account.. suspect. My husband is a marine so he isn’t home often. He was out in the field at the time so I had to wait til he was home. But when he gets off work, they’re customer service is closed. This has been so ridiculous. Does everyone else know that their bank account stays linked even after they delete it.. doesn’t seem very cool.
Venmo is the worst!
by KiaraChange on 2018/11/10 02:37
In the beginning, Venmo worked really well for me. I was only using the app to receive payments from families that I babysit for. Super convenient. Over time, my boyfriend and I decided that we would use Venmo to save money for our trip to Orlando. On the day before the trip, my boyfriend transferred the money that we saved to my account so that I could deposit it. I tried to use the “Instant Transfer” option, but it wouldn’t allow me to so I called customer service. I spoke to a young woman who told me that there was some “suspicious activity” going on with my account. It was so frustrating because we weren’t able to get our money for another couple days. A few days after that incident, I received an email stating that my account was frozen and that I would need to send a photo of my I.D to them in order to get things straightened out. After sending the email, a lady named Vera R. (an account specialist with Venmo) responded to my email saying that my account is permanently deactivated! I was so confused and upset. Please do not waste your time with this app. It seems great and convenient in the beginning, but turns bad very quickly. Zelle is a great (and much safer) option for sending money to family and friends! :)
Good App
by StephKB24 on 2019/04/25 16:36
The app is convenient for payments of the recipient only accepts Venmo. Each time I have signed in to make a payment though, I have to re-enter my bank info which is not so convenient. This is not the case with similar apps. Also, I was not happy to find that my default setting allows all friends and family on social media to see who I am paying (or vise versa) and when along with any notes entered. The amount is not included but I think this is a new level of sharing. Do I really need to know who pays who and when if I have nothing to do with it? And do all of my friends and family who I am connected with through social media need to know when and who I pay? I realize you can make these payments private by going to settings and privacy. It still seems to me too much information to share. Sharing this information shouldn’t be an option but at minimum, the default should be set to private and let people choose to share if they want.
Waste of time
by jeycat93 on 2019/11/12 21:44
I’ve have the biggest trouble trying to link any of my bank accounts or cards to my account to cash out. After reading all the help articles and speaking to my bank(who confirmed they are not denying the request, there would be no reason). I emailed customer service, who ignored the part where I told them I spoke to my bank and they said they’re not stopping or denying anything. And she send me basically a copy and paste of what the help section says. This app is super sketchy. Idk what they’ve done with it, but it’s not nearly as simple as before to use & beware any problems you have they will refuse to look into. They’ll just blame it on your bank. I feel like they just want people to leave the money so they can end up with it. Idk. It’s just at this point ridiculous the amount of effort and accounts and bank cards we’ve linked to try to transfer out $20 dollars. They accept none of them or the bank cards “aren’t allowed to be added”. Customer service was useless, it didn’t even feel like they read the email. They truly don’t care. I honestly don’t know how they’re a paypal company. Save yourself, skip this bulls hit and just use PayPal or ANY other cash app. It’s not worth the headache yall.
No better way than kneecapping your people
by Zeke&BellasMama on 2019/05/10 08:47
Really, I never understood the functionality of this while also having PayPal. I’m in my early 30’s and I would consider using PayPal super simple to use. However, my wife has always used to app to repay people for lunch and such. Once I started doing a little Facebook marketplace shopping and used this app for myself, I instantly thought; “bye bye PayPal”. PP has its place for sure in online shopping. But Venmo is truly where it’s at if you want to pay someone quickly, seamlessly without the hassle of it failing to go through. They make it super simple to find the people you’re trying to pay (QR codes, user name search, etc) and that user comes up with a small profile picture so you know for sure who you be paying. I once had one letter wrong in money I sent to a friend on PayPal and never could prove it to get my money back. This, in that respect, is much more verified if you will. Alright Venmo; lets go shopping 💪😂🎯
Safe and Convenient, but one thing...
by MzKindra on 2018/06/08 15:18
Venmo is just exactly what I need. I don’t carry cash, and the small business owners and services I support only take cash or sometimes don’t have card readers. I recently had a bad experience with a different cash application where $350 dollars was taken and I had to wait a few weeks for it to be refunded. Afterwards, my bank recommended that I discontinue use of that particular app. Venmo is easy to download, user friendly, and most importantly, has proven safe thus far. My only “complaint” is that there is no need for users to see each other’s activity. I wish there was a feature to turn off the ability to see everyone’s activity. Currently, I can prevent others from seeing my activity, but it is a bit annoying seeing and unnecessary for me to know the spending habits of others. Please consider revamping the application with this in mind. Otherwise, great job and keep up the good work. You are appreciated!
Too easy to scam
by BKMCC1 on 2019/03/21 15:18
I wish I could give this zero stars. Yesterday I attempted to send money to my brother. The app has access to my contacts so I searched for his name/number and send him money that way. It did not tell me that he didn’t have an account already. I get a notification that he accepted my referral and created an account then accepted my payment. My brother and I are chatting about it and he tells me he did not do that and when he tried to create an account later last night it said his number was already in use. So some random person now has my money and I assume by now has deleted the account as they no longer are responding to my comments or money requests (just for my initial payment amount.) Venmo support has been useless so far. I will be disputing this with my bank of course but beware to all users. This is the exact reason people fear this type of payment method, too easy to scam. Also, while the referral feature makes sense, it shouldn’t auto send payment after it. It should ask you to confirm payment amount again AFTER an account has been created. Would have prevented this whole mess, because by that point I knew it wasn’t not the right person.
Use Zelle instead!
by C864257 on 2019/10/17 20:53
So I had a friend who was sending me money for some work I did and I regret saying that I would try Venmo. (since I’m already a Zelle user)When sending money with Zelle the person receives it instantly and does not have to pay a percentage fee. I was willing to pay the 1% fee to receive my money instantly, however, I kept receiving an error message stating it couldn’t go through instantly. I called the Venmo customer service line and received absolutely no help from the person I spoke to. They said they didn’t know why I couldn’t use instant and stated that it would continue to do this for me, even in future transactions, and it wasn’t because my bank wasn’t a part of their instant program. Upon researching online, I see I’m not the only person who instant will not work for and who didn’t receive any help from Venmo customer service. I had to then select to wait 1-3 business day’s for it to go through, the app said it would go through the next day, but lo and behold tomorrow will be day 3 and I’ve yet to get my money. Completely unsatisfied. If you want your money instantly... just use Zelle! Never had any issues receiving or sending money through them.
Horrible App
by $/$$2!;'smaklzmsmamxmsmsksk on 2020/04/30 03:20
This app was pretty easy to use, and I was able to send money easily. When it came to receiving money, I just wasn’t able to. I went through my bank app, and venmo had no problem taking money from my account, but I didn’t see any money being added to my account from venmo. All the times money was sent to me appeared in my venmo history, but somehow that money didn’t get to my actual bank account. Then I realized that VENMO had all of my money that had been sent to me. They obviously have my bank info because they are able to withdrawal money... I tried to log into my bank account (like I do almost every day) and it said my info was wrong and they threatened to lock my bank account. I’ve had money sitting in this app for months and venmo didn’t bother to tell me and had me figure it out myself. What’s even worse is that they aren’t making it easy for me to get the money. They’re just waiving MY money over my head. I would delete this app, but it has over $200 in it, so that’s not an option. It would be great to get some answers, but the creators of this useless app are too busy sitting on thrones of cash to actually care about the people who use it.
Verify your account? More like verify someone else’s and lose your money!
by Kdogmikey98 on 2019/01/11 07:24
My boyfriend and I have been using Venmo for some time to pay each other for rent or other expenses we decide to split the cost of. Well, I recently sent my boyfriend $250 for this months rent, he transfers the money to his account (which happened successfully in the past) and never received his money. After a week he reaches out to them, and they claim they never verified his account. Now if they didn’t verify his account, where’d the money go? Well, it turns out they deposited the money into another persons account through the same banking agency with a similar last 4 digits of their account # (only found out after investigating with the bank since the online representatives continuously kept leaving our chat when trying to get to the bottom of this). Venmo claims they cannot do anything about getting the money back, even though they didn’t verify the account, and yet transferred the money successfully in the past AND are the ones that processed the payment to the strangers account even though it’s not the one that appears in my boyfriends Venmo account. Absolutely ridiculous, do NOT ever use Venmo!
Terrible app
by max11251 on 2020/03/25 23:43
I’ve been using Venmo for a good time now, and for the first couple of months it was a breeze to do transactions. However, my first problem was when someone accidentally sent me money, a complete random person, and I sent it back within a few hours. The person had already reported me for this, and all my Venmo balance from the past had been frozen. That isn’t the first problem. My second problem was their customer service, telling me that I couldn’t get my Venmo account unfrozen. Completely ridiculous. My third and final problem was before I even had my account frozen. I had been using my cc, and I tried to make a payment once. Kept declining so I called my card company. They said it was Venmo declining the transactions for security reasons, I reached out to customer service and they said they couldn’t help me. I removed my card, said it was allowed to be used on Venmo, but I already had been using this card before and made several transactions. I cancelled my card and got a new one, which I tried putting on Venmo but it wouldn’t work. This is a completely ridiculous app that only cares about themselves, and not their customers!!!!!!!

I never had any issues with the app prior to the update and always had a seamless user experience but now I’m considering switching to zell or another platform because the new app is so bad.

by CMT california on 2020/08/05 00:50
After COVID-19 any massage therapist should be extremely careful and either shut down business or make sure that people wear a mask wear gloves and disinfect everything.

I just started using this service a couple days ago and now requests are on security hold and are unable to be completed. Super unsatisfied.

by Typofest on 2020/08/04 21:59

by justletmepostthereviewffs on 2020/08/04 19:29

Frustrated and Disappointed 👎
by alexiam.k on 2019/07/29 16:47
I have had three venmo accounts and all of them had been shut down without any explanation.
