Description
The ultimate Blackjack teaching tool! It's not a game: it's an easy and fun instructional program that will help you remember proper playing strategy at the casino tables. Blackjack mentor is an instructional aide to help you become a better Blackjack player. If you want to win at Blackjack, you need to know the right action for each hand combination. Blackjack mentor has six modes to make the process of learning the right plays fast, easy and fun. FEATURES: - Drill mode: Random blackjack hands are displayed, and you have to pick the correct action. The program remembers which ones you get right or wrong, and tends to pick the ones you are having the most problems with. The 'Mistake' dialogs have been carefully designed to give you the right information to help master the correct plays. - Table mode: View all of the basic strategy plays. The hands are broken up into hard hands from 8 to 16, soft hands from Ace-2 to Ace-9, and all pairs. You can select specific hands to be tested on, and view your error statistics from Drill mode. - Memorize mode: Displays an empty blackjack strategy table and let's you fill in the correct plays one cell at a time. If you get the action wrong, it tells you and marks the error. - Rules mode: Choose from a wide range of blackjack rules for DAS/noDAS, S17/H17, surrender, ENHC, number of decks, and double restrictions. A matching optimal basic strategy table is automatically selected for you. 144 built-in tables ready for you to use. - Action mode: Create or modify your own action table. Includes all of the OBS strategy tables for the Speed Count system. - Help mode: All the rules of blackjack, an introduction to card counting, and detailed documentation on the program, presented in a rich web browsing format. Everything you need to know to play perfect blackjack.
Great but offer - Reset and Sounds

Great little app to test your mastery of Basic Blackjack strategy. Can you build in an option to clear the stats if one do chooses? Also some kind of sound option that allows user to toggle on and off would be nice instead of dead silence. Other than that this little app does what it is intended to do. Nice job!!!
Simply the best one

I've used the app for years on Apple products and my Windows PC and it's simply the best one out there. It keeps track of your play and will repeat hands where you seem to have trouble with more often to help you "get it". In other words it's a Smart program. Really a tremendous tool to learn with.

If your serious about learning Basic Strategy, this is the app to get. This is a serious tool and not a game. I have completed close to 500k hands using this app and it helped me learn basic strategy inside and out. See the developers other app concerning card counting.

Graphics and UI are horrible. Makes me think a 7th grader made this app.
Good for what it does, but overpriced

This is a pretty good app for learning the basic strategy. I really like the memorize mode where you fill in the table. This helps me more than just flashing cards off the bat. One quirk, it has several times reset and I lose the statistics from previous sessions, as well as the rules set up for my local casino. Surrender rules ARE on there now, contrary to other reviews. If it had a running count option, I'd like it a lot better. It's overall a good app. But I thought it was $1.99 and was surprised when I got the $9.99 bill for it. I'd pay $1.99 for it, but for 10 bucks, I'd go with BJ Teacher Pro. More features, less cost.
Very well done!

Really an excellent app to improve play. Absolutely no glitches. A very smooth running and easy to use app.
Little more customization

Would be 5 stars but its missing surrender drills, and there needs to be room between Hit,Soft,Double( also add surrender) as other have stated. You can see how close they are in the pictures show above. Also it needs a customized strategy play section, where one can input their own basic strategy chart and include surrender/hit or surrender/stand as an option and then run the drill off that chart they they just made. Granted surrender are found in a lot of places, but there are still places that offer it and one should be able to study and learn this since its still used in some places.
Same as it's always been. Good tool

I've had this software for my Palm, windows PDA, desktop and now iPhone. I still like it although it's not as useful as the counting tools. One thing that Dan seems determined NOT to change is the location of the buttons. It's not that they are too close together (as suggested above) it's that they are designed for a left handed person. A righty has to reach accross the screen and cannot see the choices covered by his thumb. That makes it easy to tap the wrong button. And it's a flaw that is in all of his products. Annoying but still a great training tool.
A Great Training Tool

Blackjack Mentor is not a game. It is a training tool that will help you learn and practice basic strategy. The Blackjack basic strategy varies depending on the number of deck and the rules of the game BJ Mentor lets you select the tables to practice. Several years ago I learned to count cards using the speed count method published in The Blackjack Revolution book by Scoblete. Speed count is the easiest card counting method to learn. Speed Count uses a variation of basic strategy and this program allows you to choose this as an option. So if you are a “Speed Counter” you can practice the OBS with this program. The only addition I would like to see in the future would be an actual game mode that would allow practicing the running speed count.
Xcellent.

I play BJ often and I like to keep in mental shape when it applies to the basic strategy. This app is perfect. Theres no other app like it. The only way the app can improve is to use other strategys involved with various different playing situations.

It’s great to see the popular DeepNet Technologies blackjack programs available for the iPhone & iPod Touch. Eagerly awaiting Blackjack Counter and Blackjack Expert in 2010.
