EDIT —. I HAVE VERSION 5.1.28. PAGE STILL JUMPS. How aggravating. The whole time you are trying to see the list of shows, the page constantly jumps up and down with ads in the middle of the page. Depending on the size of the ad the page jumps. I can’t believe that you think this is acceptable. Talk about a distraction. Please fix that. I know you need ads. But do they have to jump around for the page to move ??????

The over the air listings for my ZIP Code are not accurate. Missing channels, wrong programming, wrong channel names, wrong stations, and channels shown that have been off air for years. TV GUIDE is NOT GOOD around here. Over 40 channels and half are wrong in some way! Customer service is the worst, don’t listen, don’t care.

The new update is now annoying! I always use the "new tonight" feature and it keep refreshing back to 8 pm if I scroll down. I cannot look at the whole schedule because of all the ad pop ups! It is incredibly frustrating!

Too much distracting advertising especially while you are looking at listings. You also have to set up an account t, use your email account or Facebook account to do anything other than look at listings. I don’t want to be tracked or annoyed by u so listed advertising.

The last update won't let me stay logged in and my favorites disappeared. It won't keep the new favorites I try to add. Nothing like improvements. Update 3/8/20: STILL loses my favorites. For a while now, the display ‘shudders’ and shift the grid away from where I’m scrolling, when scrolling past the photos in the middle of the grid. I still use the app, but I get out as fast as possible. Just curious, do the app developers ever actually look at the app on devices, or only on their development environment? Just demoted another star.

I'm writing this because TV guide will not respond. I've complained numerous times that when adding to or removing from watchlist you must also deactivate an alert. This is an unnecessary step. If I want an alert I can add that after watchlist. Let's see if I get a response now.
Needs more options

A good app that needs to be built on. It is lacking in some obvious places. Why can’t I choose Hulu or other streaming services as my TV provider? I should also be able to watch shows to my watchlist that aren’t currently airing. Having recently “cut the cord” you’d think a TV Guide app would have these options. I hope to see more streaming only options soon. Other than those, it’s a very solid app.

It's sad to see the demise of what once the best tv viewing guide in the industry. The version history indicates the last update was just 1 month ago. However, features the developer promised to fix a year ago are still not functioning. Trending News, Latest Galleries, and Top Videos feature shows that have been cancelled. The Biography channel was rebranded as FYI in 2014. The app still lists it as the Biography Channel. Channels added in 2019 have yet to be included in the listings. Have the developers given up? If so, Apple should remove it from the App Store.

The developer has failed to make the app function. There is no current listings. Cannot add favorites, or synchronize listings. Unable to find current shows. Changing passwords was a fiasco, because I uninstalled it and decided to give it another try by reinstalling it. The app is irrelevant and does not work. I’m surprised after all this time that the app still exists. Keep looking, because this mess is not what you want.

TV Guide is the only place I look for listings, other than the cable company’s “guide” screen. But why I have to see the same photos/ads for “The 100,” or “blah blah blah feminist deserving all the blah blah,” I don’t understand. Same photos, same ads have been on there for at least a year! I even deleted and reinstalled in order to see other ads...didn’t work. Is there nothing else you want to promote?

I have been locked out of my account for months. I submitted a ticket to get help on 12/23/19 and have yet to hear anything. I can see the listings but I can’t see the ones on my favorites list until I am logged into an account. I can’t re-sign up because my email is already being used.

I’ve submitted an “unsubscribe” request to TV Guide almost every day for two months, generally three or four times per day, yet this email continues to spam me every day despite these repeated attempts to discontinue receiving something I no longer wish to receive. Every other “unsubscribe” I’ve ever submitted has always honored my request, but not TV Guide. I generally do not make assumptions, but after nearly two months of pushing the “unsubscribe” item at the bottom of the page and receiving the notice I’ve been “unsubscribed” with a caveat it will take at least twenty four hours to stop receding my preferences, I can’t help but wonder if their staff doesn’t care, can’t read, or they can’t tell the difference between 24 hours and 24 YEARS. I don’t know about this, but it also begs the question if TV Guide has moved their support operation out of the USA and hires foreigners instead of providing jobs for American citizens who purchase their product(s) as so many other big corporations have. If this is true, and I’m not saying it is, perhaps there is a translation, language, cultural, or some other issue. Regardless, they have a support or technical issue that needs to be fixed. I would say to anyone thinking about using this App, think again if you don’t want to receive this email for the rest of your life because you canNOT unsubscribe.

I use this all the time for setting up recordings on our Spectrum TV online site since this is much easier to navigate. Sometimes there are differences in the listings vs. what is actually on Spectrum. I also like the ability to search for shows in the future. However, they recently changed their background to black with white letters. I find this very difficult to read, even though “NEW” stands out in red...not a good change. This is why I’ve rated it 3 stars.

Now it wants u to sign in to do anything. But it wont let me set up an account. It rejects all screen names. I finally just deleted it. Zero stars would be more appropriate for what used to be a 5 star app (New review) This is the best TV listing out there. It freezes sometimes, stops remembering favorites, and sometimes has to be reinstalled. It is, overall, the best listing app out there

First: A lot of times when I open the app I get an error message says it failed to load. I have to select my provider and try again. Won’t work on my iPhone. Second: While scrolling (on iPad) and stop to read something it jumps to another area and enlarges for an ad. When this app first came out I really liked it but like so many other apps and programs it eventually gets overwhelmed with ads. Try watching YouTube and see what I mean. This app is getting that way very quick.

I enjoy this App, but one thing is very annoying is the constant movement of the screen when trying to view TV listings. It is constantly feeding ads that pop up in between the rows of listings. When viewing a listing it moves out of sight due to an ad appearing so that temporarily I’ve lost my place and have to go searching to find what I was looking at. Can you just load the ads and let them stay there please....

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t minds advertisements. But EVERY time I open the app these days I see the disgusting image of someone taking a chunk of gunk out of an ear. WHY? I doesn’t matter if I scroll, the ad surfaces again. I give up. I have to close the app - can’t see that anymore. Does anyone know of an alternative to this app?

A decent enough app, providing two weeks advanced listings. However, the in-listing ads cause the screen to constantly "jump", which is an annoyance to say the least. If you are going to put ads in a listing, restrict the size of the ad box, so it doesn't have to constantly update the listing screen!

I was hoping this latest update would have Sign In With Apple but it doesn’t, so I won’t sign in to set up my favorite channels. The ads also disappear when reloading, causing the whole schedule to shift up and down as you scroll. Very annoying!

Images like recommended watching tonight are many months old from 2019 March. I deleted app, then downloaded again and still same images. Still stuck on everyone who died on Game of Thrones, for example. Nice listing of TV shows, though.

Way, way too many ads that are always shifting the screen. So as I scroll down through the many channels to select something I want to watch the screen always shifts due to ad updates. So, for example, I scroll down to AMC (channel 33 in my area) and while reading what is scheduled the screen jumps to, say, channel 60. This happens all the time. That really stinks BIG TIME! I give up.

I have an account with TV guide, but I can’t even sign into because with the use of voice-over, it will not let me. It’s hard to understand what to do when using voice-over, whether I’m on the sign up screen or the sign in screen. They look the same. Please fix this, and I will definitely give a better review.

I use this app pretty often sometimes and then I also have breaks where I don’t use it at all. Along the way there have been some glitches but like any other app, that’s going to happen as frustrating as that may seem.... Especially when you need it. For the majority of the time it’s pretty accurate and matches what I see. I do not have cable or satellite tv and with that comes no guide on tv so this works great when I want to take a glimpse at what’s on without actually scanning each channel. I have noticed lately that there is at least 1 new channel, that I know of, for those who use an antenna. In my area (Midwest) it is 6.5 Start TV. When I do land on that channel it doesn’t show the info as to what is currently on and it is not listed on this app yet so I do not usually last too long watching it. It would be nice to have the channels on the app update as soon as the channels on TV do but I am not a programmer so I haven’t the slightest clue how hard it is to update apps more often. Some I have weekly, some are monthly and some are yearly. I guess it depends on how often those are using the app and how bad the glitches are. I have had this app on various phones since about the time apps were available and I haven’t let go so far.

I’ve submitted an “unsubscribe” request to TV Guide almost every day for two months, generally three or four times per day, yet this email continues to spam me every day despite these repeated attempts to discontinue receiving something I no longer wish to receive. Every other “unsubscribe” I’ve ever submitted has always honored my request, but not TV Guide. I generally do not make assumptions, but after nearly two months of pushing the “unsubscribe” item at the bottom of the page and receiving the notice I’ve been “unsubscribed” with a caveat it will take at least twenty four hours to stop receding my preferences, I can’t help but wonder if their staff doesn’t care, can’t read, or they can’t tell the difference between 24 hours and 24 YEARS. I don’t know about this, but it also begs the question if TV Guide has moved their support operation out of the USA and hires foreigners instead of providing jobs for American citizens who purchase their product(s) as so many other big corporations have. If this is true, and I’m not saying it is, perhaps there is a translation, language, cultural, or some other issue. Regardless, they have a support or technical issue that needs to be fixed. I would say to anyone thinking about using this App, think again if you don’t want to receive this email for the rest of your life because you canNOT unsubscribe.

Final edit: After deleting and reinstalling all day, FINALLY it picks up my location. But now my account no longer exists - but funnily enough, when I try to sign up anew it tells me my account already exists. Finally start from scratch with a new made-up email and what do I immediately notice? THE GRID IS STILL OFF BY AN HOUR. I have finally decided this app is just a phenomenal piece of junk. There’s a reason it has only a few stars average rating. Sadly, I liked it because I don’t watch enough TV to remember when the few shows I watch come on and really made use of the reminders feature. But I also don’t watch enough TV to fool with such a piece of crap app. Deleting for good! —————————— Despite there having been no update, suddenly my grid and all my alerts were off by an hour. I made sure my provider had not been changed, but I couldn’t even pull it up as the app said there were no providers, despite the fact that I live in the heart of one of the largest metropolitan areas in the US. So I deleted the app, cycled my phone, and reinstalled the app. It STILL says there are no providers in the area and will not go past that screen. I am stuck, cannot go any further. My previous rating was only 3 stars so I never thought it was a great app but now it’s a virtual paperweight on my home screen.

I love that I can jump directly to the day and time I want and see a star next to my watchlist shows and the word new indicating new episodes. It’s great to be able to follow actors and get notifications whenever something they starred in is on. The notifications 15 mins before a show airs are perfect for me. I read these reviews and can’t believe them! It’s a free app so totally understandable that revenue has to come from somewhere. I’m perfectly happy to scroll past a few ads if that’s what it takes to keep it free. I’ve used this app everyday for well over a year, haven’t had a single pop up ad nor have I had any loud ads. As far as the other complaints, they’re all user error, not the apps fault! Duh if you don’t want to get a notification for every single episode then set it for “new episodes only”. All of them were like that. If I can sort out how to use the many convenient features and tailor it to fit my needs, everyone should be able to.

The much-anticipated return of CourtTV has already occurred in nearly every planned area; yet, the TV Guide app, even when refreshed wherever possible, does not show my channel that it is on right now at all in the broadcast TV listing. However, another app I have that is nowhere near as sophisticated or bloated as TV Guide, immediately alerted me via a pop-up that there was a new channel added to my broadcast area, CourtTV, and asked if I wanted to add it to my channels list. The whole process took three seconds. It’s times like this when you start to realize that apps that splash videos, articles, excessive advertisements, and flashy notifications at the users don’t necessarily have the capability of performing the most basic function that you needed it to when you downloaded it in the first place. I have had two apps on my phone for nearly 3 years, and it’s mind-boggling that TV Guide can’t even perform the most basic function of displaying accurate TV listings, even though the technology obviously exists because my plain Jane TV listings app found the new channel instantly without my even having to lift a finger.

I have an iPhone X and this app worked fine before. But since the update three weeks ago that was supposed to improve the app, it's now much worse. It has stopped automatically jumping to the current schedule, and it no longer goes back to the present schedule if you have looked at upcoming programming. In both situations, it has to be manually moved to the current spot rather than just tapping the listing icon. Hugely inconvenient! I had hoped it was a temporary glitch but three weeks on it hasn't been fixed. Also, now, the schedule is very wrong, very frequently. Often a half day behind. And even more wrong. As a matter of fact, there hasn't been one day since the update that it's been right. And most days it's wrong several times. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of a TV schedule. I dumped this app. It's too awful these days. The other option for iPhone isn't great, but much better than this one. These folks need to put this app back to how it was before the recent "improvements".
Great for finding new episodes, not their #’s

I had previously given a 5-star review but I am downgrading one star. TV Guide is still a very good and convenient tool for finding new shows of interest 14 days in advance. Only rarely do I detect flaws. I jot down shows of interest, to guide my recording, into a small notebook. (Utilizing my Comcast On Demand service.) In many cases, you need to know the episode number to keep your recordings straight and to not miss an episode. Unfortunately, TV Guide frequently gets the episode numbers wrong. More and more I find the need to double-check against web searches for a show, or compare to what the “Next Episode” app says. Episode numbers are wrong enough of the time lately that I cannot grant the full 5 stars. I will continue to rely heavily on this app but with more cross-checking labor than I used to undergo. 4stars

Needs some serious updating. This app keeps cutting out. Though I have used this app for quite some time, it has serious problems that needs fixing The developer has updated this app and now seems to be working much better. My initial response was typed quite fast since the app would only work for a short time, it would shut off and then I would have to begin again. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to type a response fast enough to the developer before this app would reset so the developer could know there was a problem to look into. Thanks for the update, this has been an excellent app and I look forward to using it for the foreseeable future.
Cannot select favorite channels

iPhone 6S, iOS 13.1.2 I’ve been using this app for 3-4 years. When it works, I really like it. Every couple of months it would lose my favorite channels and I would have to add all my favorites again. No rhyme or reason that I could deduce. Now, I cannot select favorites at all. When I am at the screen to select favorites and tap on a channel, after I remove my finger I can see a check mark on the right side of the channel for about a 1/2 second, but it doesn’t stick. I have seen at least one other review that mentioned this exact issue. I haven’t been able to use this app for a couple of months now and I really miss using it. I keep hoping for an update that might fix this, but the last update was 4 months ago. :-/ I just updated to iOS 13.1.2 yesterday, but that had no effect on this issue. Please fix this!

This app makes my quality of tv watching so much less frustrating. I have only an antenna. There is listings as were on my att screen. I was really flying blind and it was very frustrating. The channel listing function on my my tv didn’t have much other than numbers. I had no clue. Once I got TV guide I began to learn that my antenna had so much to offer. With TV guide I get a glance of what’s on and decide whether to watch Netflix or not. I don’t have to miss anything anymore. I have had absolutely no technical issues. My gosh! Laugh In is on and it’s jokes are still current today. Rod Serling was on disco cavett and The Rolling Stones’s first US appearance was on Ed Sullivan. Historically excellent. I urge anyone to get this. It’s great.
Not enough episodes shown in Watchlist

I check my Watchlist regularly so I can tell when new episodes of my favorite shows are on. But if there are more than a dozen or so episodes of a show in my Watchlist, the list of episodes by date only lists the first dozen or so. For a show in syndication (e.g., Law & Order SVU) there's so many episodes over the next two weeks that the one new episode doesn't show in the list because only the first dozen or so episodes are shown. This is not a problem when searching in the Listings. If I search for Law & Order (even without the SVU designation), it returns with dozens and dozens of episodes for the entire two weeks. Please remove the limitation on how many episodes are shown in the Watchlist so that all episodes in the next two weeks can be shown.

Where do I start! My main complaint is that when I set a timer to notify me of shows/ movies I get notified EVERY time it's on WHY would I want to watch / notify anything 10 times???!!! I tried the one time notification thinking oh that must be the answer but no it's JUST the 1 time !! I keep loosing my favorites channels and then have to start all over setting them up! The ads are so many my wifi has a hard time connecting!!!! I don't know why if developers are going to make apps why they have to make it so I'm notified EVERY time a show is on! DEVELOPERS FIX IT GET IT TOGETHER OR DON'T BOTHER WITH A THIRD CLASS APP!... Update Nothing's changed I've tried the notify 1 time but then I have to reset every week this app is basically useless when in order to get notified 1 time only I have to RESET WEEKLY MIGHT AS WELL USE PEN AND PAPER AND SAVE RESOURCES ON DEVICE FIX IT OR THE APPS USELESS !!! As close to what I do not want in an App. My major complaint is the Editor's Picks ----- "his/her" picks may not be mine. It defeats the purpose of the App, just show me the schedules and let me make up my own mind. Hire more app support staff to fix the program problems and fewer editor's pick staff. Since the last upgrade this site has become an aggravation. I sincerely do not care if someone hacks my favorite channels ----- and I doubt few others consider this a concern. I feel that the requirement for the password is just a way of up-dating your email list to increase the unwanted email ads. Waiting for the next jug-headed improvement to finally put this app to pasture.

I used to love this app to the point I created an account and interacted with the app i.e. mark shows I’d be watching and all that. Now I rarely open it and never sign in because I can’t stand an app that has excessive ads especially those that don’t provide the means or steps to remove them. Ads that you HAVE TO WATCH to watch a video that’s not even as long as the ad. You watch an ad then stop the “free” video cause 10 seconds in cause it’s not what it’s advertised to be about or you’ve seen it before but didn’t remember till you saw the first 10 seconds & so move on to a different video and even though you didn’t finish the video and barely any time has based but a new ad has to be watched. It’s almost as if the app is set to give you an ad every other tap. I’ll stick with the digital cable box’s menu to see what’s on tonight

Check on my Tv Guide app what’s is new on the Tv today. Because the Tv doesn’t promote a lite of programs that interest me like the new season of Van helsing on Syfy and the new show Goest wors on syfy! Or evil things on Tlc the Tv network doesn’t care about us people liking those cubs if programmers😩 and without the Tv Guide I couldn’t know about them! Horrible video ads and pop ups

Time to update my review: The number of ads is still ridiculous. The video ads have stopped, but now there are flashing blinking ads in between the listings AND ads inside the listing when I’m trying to read a a show’s description. The amount of ads have increased to the point of ridiculousness. A few I can understand but not this many and not this obnoxious. Time to dump this app. The horrible video ads that I can’t stop for a full 30 seconds are the last straw. The pop up ads are bad enough as are the many glitches in the app, but now this app just isn’t worth using. All I I want is to see a show’s info quickly and I shouldn’t be made to watch a 30 second video or wait to close a pop up ad. May times the listings are wrong or totally blank. Time to dump this app.
A very useful app, but one really bad change

I love being able to check the program listings with the tap of a finger, but in the older version, I could tap athe name of a show in the listings, and that would open a one-or-two line description of the episode. That was very useful. Now, that tap brings up a video window that shows an ad followed by a trailer. That takes up too much space and too much time without sufficient information. I hope they will change that back to the old way, at which time I will come back and give it five stars.

***UPDATE**** After still no response to change my email address on my TV Guide account, I decided to make a new account instead. Just write down your favorite shows/channels beforehand so you can remember to add alerts to them on the app. Smh. *************** I don’t watch TV as much as I used to but I do use this app often to see when some of my favorite shows are airing. However, customer service seems to be something that’s of little priority to you. I recently changed my email address and wanted to change that on my TV Guide app/web account. I went on the website (which constantly crashes when you go to the help/faq section) and there is no direct email address to contact anyone about my issue. I sent a direct message on Facebook and received no answer back and the app support just redirects you back to the website help/faq section. TV Guide for the digital age (and this app) has the potential to be really great but if you keep ignoring customers, it’s going to drive people away.
Annoying ads with loud, blaring sounds! 😡

I’ve enjoyed this app for a long time, except until the developer made some change so that quite often, when I open the app to check for a TV listing, some annoying, obnoxious ad pops up with some guy saying something like “Maria, Maria” really, really loud (due to me keeping my iPhone volume at max — too bad the app doesn’t appear to have a separate volume control for itself, at least not that I could find, or even a mute switch to turn off the sound). And so it’s so frustrating and jarring to open the app and be pounded with this loud ad — wish they would change this, as I’ve had the app for a long time now, and I don’t remember having this problem with the app until recently).

Advertisement overwhelming just taking over fullscreen of advertisement I am not even interested in like golf and wanting me to download a Weather app when I already have the best! Wasting my valuable time of what life I have left when I would just wanna see what's on TV so I can turn to the channel! So harassing and obnoxious these advertisements makes me despise the way you do business and treat your customers! I understand you got to make a living but to hound the people using your app to death? What are sorry way to do business! You would have an outstandingApp if you would knock off your advertisers repeatedly hounding your users with the same advertisement and taking up the full screen over and over with the same ad! It's just plain harassment and stalking!

3 hour time difference in listings

Well we now have to do time difference from a three hour time difference that is now displayed on the listings. Really confusing. This new mess started with the latest update. Really disappointed. I really use this app a lot and like it. Also I do not like using it any more when I am feeling like I am resting. It is horrible when all of a sudden a loud obnoxious noise starts up after being in the app for a short while. And most of the time it will not shut up unless you turn your own sound on your device. Maybe use sound canceling earphones when visiting this site plus have your time zone converter ready to use to figure out when your favs are airing.

Idk about other ppl but this app will remind me of a show or movie coming on and other times it doesn’t. I set reminders on the app to let me know when my favorites come on but it will not send a notification to my phone. And sometimes I look through my favorites list to see if any of them are coming on and it will say “no listing for the next 14 days”. But I flip through the channels later the same day and most of my favorites are on. Then I go back to the app then all of a sudden it has listings now! I would really appreciate you guys fixing this issue because it’s so convent I’m just tired of missing my shows!
Big beautiful ads

Two majors problems plague what could potentially be a very good guide. The ads are huge and obnoxious. Not just banners or columns off to the side, but great big block ads that separate your listings so great as to be a huge distraction. Just terrible ad placement from a users pov. People are greatly put off by this, and they are not going to likely be clicking more ads, just abandoning this app probably, as I may. Secondly, the watchlist keeps track of all the episodes of a given show, including the many in syndication, and not just the current season. This was a terrible idea as it pollutes the watchlist with too much useless content, and it’s difficult to see when something new is on.

I've been using this app for a long time, using the setting for antenna in my area, and primarily accessing the listings. In the last couple of days, it is no longer working properly. It opens to the listings for the current time, but no longer allows you to scroll to the left or right (well, you can but the writing becomes superimposed with the current and future description making it illegible). Same thing happens when you tap on the date, select "tonight" or "tomorrow night". Ive rebooted my phone thinking something had just gotten, and deleted and reinstalled the app. Still broken!!

Was informed that I could NOT get UVerse where I moved to but could get DirecTV or Dish through AT&T. I then asked how this was possible and they told me that AT&T had purchased both of the Satellite services. This happened sometime last year because of all the offers received from AT&T for the services, which I didn’t need before we moved. Now if TV Guide would update for these changes, and the different listings now available through AT&T. Sent an email to TV Guide support earlier. Maybe they will fix it.

Update: the app now pushes pornographic ads that hijack the screen and cannot be dismissed without shutting down the phone. There were already problems, but this is just so inappropriate. I haven’t found a good alternative, but I am deleting tv guide anyway because I cannot stand this. The app has had minor problems all along, but the latest update has me thinking that I will delete it. Additionally, some of the ads now grab the screen and re-center it on themselves. I don’t mind ads, but I do dislike having them behave so aggressively. I really hope that they will fix the problems and restore functionality, because the current version is barely usable.
Wrong time zone

Frustrating!!!! I have been using this app for quite some time. At that time, and as of two days ago, this app was very useful. Now it’s not. The times for the programs are now showing EST, and I live in the CST zone. My provider is Comcast, which it showed before. Now it comes up as “No providers found”. I even deleted the app, removed all traces, then reinstalled it. Nothing has changed and the program times are still showing in the EST zone. And still no providers are available. It doesn’t even give me the option to choose “cable”, “satellite” or “antenna”. What happened? Please fix this. And I’ll give it more stars.

This app his been perfect for years. It has onscreen ads interspersed with the listings which was a convenient way to see them. Now it has these pop up adds that suddenly cover up the screen in the middle of looking for something. At least one pops up shortly after every time the app gets focus. Being annoying makes me actively ignore whatever is on the pop up. No one is served by this. UPDATE: This has been fixed in the most recent update. Thank you!

This app does its basic job. Sometimes it can get off schedule with the listings. Recently the ads have also increased. Worst of all, the info for the movies in the listings are terrible. There is no genre depiction and the movie summaries are like crap. They basically only tell who are in the movie, not what the movie is about. This app needs to connect to IMDb like the “TV Listings” app when it comes to the movies. Personally, I always have to use the “TV Listings” app when I’m checking out a movie. I would stay with “TV Listings”, but they shot up their ads like crazy.
Suddenly stopped working, no response

I was completely satisfied with this app until a week or so ago, when I suddenly could no longer alter the view from my favorites to ALL channels. That icon in the upper left (the arrows - two pointing left, one right) kicks me back to my iPhone display and closes the app. I e-mailed them about a week ago, with no response, and again tonight. UPDATE: After installing the update, the problem has been solved.
Needs improvement for voiceover

I remember having this application sometime ago for my iPod touch unit. Now, when you install the app, and go through the set up, you must turn off voice over in order to get through the five screens. This is very difficult for those of us who are voiceover users. We need a way to get through the set up process without having to shut voiceover off. I hope that the developers of this application take this into consideration when updating this application. This is why I am giving it only one star. Also, I would like to know how to look at shows for my different cable channels. I do not see a way on how to do this.

I’ve used this app for a long time -years- and they always manage to find some new way to make it obnoxious. The current version blasts away with ads as it’s been (thankfully they stopped the loud audio ads that scared the crud out of you At 2 am), late alerts or none at all until it’s long over, and spammy blurbs in your lock screen for articles you have no interest in at all, and no way to prevent them from blitzing you in the settings. When are they going to get a clue and have an ad-free paid version with accurate alerts and user control over the kinds of alerts we receive??
Almost too buggy to use

There’s been a bug that has existed for a very long time, through the last few updates. When I scroll to the end of the TV listings, then begin to scroll back up, the listings jump all over the place. First it’ll jump back down a few channels, then one listing will open up to its description. After this, it skips back up to a couple channels above where I left off. This is a major nuisance and makes it very difficult to view listings. I’ve tied to uninstall/reinstall, but the bug still persists. Only giving it a second since it’s my only option.

I have an iPad 3, so it's stuck on iOS 9. The fix that was supposed to fix the update that exits iOS 9 didn't work. I even rebooted to make sure there wasn't something left in memory to mess things up. Please just go back a couple of revs until you actually get this fixed! UPDATE 20 March 2019: back to 4 stars because it works again in iOS 9. I use OTA in San Diego, CA, and it's still missing channel 17.1, 17.2, 17.3, and 17.4. At least I can see all the other channels again!
Annoying ads.

Sometime in late February or early March, this TV Guide app started spitting out annoying advertisements with audio messages. Please stop these ads. When I use this app, it is to see what TV shows are on what channel at what time. I do not want an ad to pop up with a barking dog, or annoying music, or some other garbage while I’m trying to watch TV, especially when other people are present. Is extremely irritating. I don’t know whose idea this was at your company, but they should be fired whoever they are. Because it’s a stupid idea. Sincerely, someone that used to like your TV Guide app but does not anymore.

I can put up with the fairly large ads that actually break up the listings that you have to scroll past… the shows are sometimes listed for the wrong time, it seems to be random, but generally if something happens, it’s an hour off... The very reason I downloaded this was to not miss a show... so that’s a big one for me. They also have now started doing fullscreen random video ads that just pop up, as you try and scroll through the listings that you need to close the video to be able to see the listings. That was the last straw for me. Not going to deal with that. Happy trails TV guide… Good luck not annoying everyone that uses it.

I enjoy this App, but one thing is very annoying is the constant movement of the screen when trying to view TV listings. It is constantly feeding ads that pop up in between the rows of listings. When viewing a listing it moves out of sight due to an ad appearing so that temporarily I’ve lost my place and have to go searching to find what I was looking at. Can you just load the ads and let them stay there please....

Ever since I updated this TV Guide app I’ve had nothing but problems. First of all, it will randomly just close without warning. But it also locks up more now. The big problem I have is when it (frequently) “de-programs” all of my Favorite Channels, which is a pain in the neck having to reprogram. I’m not sure what changes you made to it but please go back to the original version.

It’s great to be able to check what’s will be on TV that night or the next day, even when you’re not at home or your TV is not on. You can set up the channels that you get with the ones that you like to watch so I don’t have to scroll through millions of channels. I have TVs both on Verizon and over air so I can check both. There doesn’t seem to be any other option to have all the services and it’s free.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I really thought that I could use this as a real TV Guide. I have SlingTv and I also use my antenna for my local channels so I chose the Sling in settings, made those favorite channel choices, went back to settings, and chose my local channel favorites. They were there for two days; I didn't go into TV Guide for one day and when I went back all of my favorites were gone. I will check back again at another time and see if updates/improvements have been made but not having cable I need something that will give me both local and SlingTv or whatever TV provider I choose to use.

This is a great app to figure out what's on. I don't use a lot of the extra features, but I love that it's up-to-date (often including individual episode info) and customizable. However, I would like to see one feature implemented: blending of multiple tv providers. I'm a cord cutter so I don't have a tv provider. But I do have an antenna and subscribe to slingtv. It would be awesome if I could combine my antenna channels and my slingtv channels into a single list to access the lineup.
Autoplay irritating ads- developer response...

After writing about my frustration with video ads playing on their own when the app is open, I got a response from the developer. I was told that “most of the intrusive ads have been removed.” That’s progress & I appreciate that there’s someone listening. I’ve changed my review from 1 to 3 stars. I would still like all of the video ads to need prompting from the user. I’ll change my rating if or when that happens. I should have a choice to listen or not listen.

I really only use this app for what I call trash news and it’s great for that. I have never used the guide so I can’t account for the frustration that others have experienced. I took a star away bc it’s irritating when so many articles reference videos or images that are not linked into the article in any way. Maybe I’m supposed to look them up but that seems ridiculous in this age of linking videos anytime anywhere.

Working great now. The app could be improved a bit more but works good now. Old review: Had the app working fine before iOS 13.1 upgrade. Now the app flakes out when trying to toggle the triple menu button at the top left hand corner. Every time you push it the app closes immediately. Also the little videos in the app do not load. Hopefully this will be updates as I like this app a lot and it helps me with remembering all my shows I watch on TV.

I used to buy TV guide magazine back in the 70-80s. Life and tv was possible easier. We only had tv not the added extras. I grew up where they made movies and tv programs happen. Saw them filming all the time and had 2 programs shot at and in my house so I truly love tv. Knowing how I loved TV Guide then my thought is how hard will it be to navigate the TV guide via internet now. Ha ha ha ...... jokes on me. I can’t find anything. I know I’m old but I can still read. I can’t figure out how to find what I’m looking for. And I still have just regular tv. I’m not doing all the sub tv programs. The then husband didn’t want me buying you at all though it was a waste of money. I told him it was the articles I like to read so I vetoed him. You were my life line. Especially when I had babies. TV Guide, I loved you once. It was a great affair. I am sorry to say I have to divorce you like I did the husband. You’re to complicated for this old lady. App is an hour ahead

For some reason the last two days my app has been off the correct time by an hour. For example, if it’s 1:00 pm and I open my app it goes to the 2:00 pm slot. I checked that I was still still signed in and my provider settings were right, so what is the deal. I missed the first hour of the Celebrity Big Brother finale and the Bachelor Women Tell All because the app said they were on at 8:00 pm when they actually started at 7:00 pm. Please FIX!!!

I use this all the time for setting up recordings on our Spectrum TV online site since this is much easier to navigate. Sometimes there are differences in the listings vs. what is actually on Spectrum. I also like the ability to search for shows in the future. However, they recently changed their background to black with white letters. I find this very difficult to read, even though “NEW” stands out in red...not a good change. This is why I’ve rated it 3 stars.
Pop ups are out of control!

I fully understand that this is an app designed for advertising. However, when I can't read but one or two lines of an article without another pop up filling the majority of the screen my frustration level escalates. Let the pop-ups be off to one side or the other or at the top or bottom. Let me read the articles that have gotten my attention. At a certain point I just close the app and ignore it all and I don't think it is your intention to drive viewers away. That does nothing for your advertising dollars.

EDIT —. I HAVE VERSION 5.1.28. PAGE STILL JUMPS. How aggravating. The whole time you are trying to see the list of shows, the page constantly jumps up and down with ads in the middle of the page. Depending on the size of the ad the page jumps. I can’t believe that you think this is acceptable. Talk about a distraction. Please fix that. I know you need ads. But do they have to jump around for the page to move ??????

The over the air listings for my ZIP Code are not accurate. Missing channels, wrong programming, wrong channel names, wrong stations, and channels shown that have been off air for years. TV GUIDE is NOT GOOD around here. Over 40 channels and half are wrong in some way! Customer service is the worst, don’t listen, don’t care.

The new update is now annoying! I always use the "new tonight" feature and it keep refreshing back to 8 pm if I scroll down. I cannot look at the whole schedule because of all the ad pop ups! It is incredibly frustrating!

The last update won't let me stay logged in and my favorites disappeared. It won't keep the new favorites I try to add. Nothing like improvements. Update 3/8/20: STILL loses my favorites. For a while now, the display ‘shudders’ and shift the grid away from where I’m scrolling, when scrolling past the photos in the middle of the grid. I still use the app, but I get out as fast as possible. Just curious, do the app developers ever actually look at the app on devices, or only on their development environment? Just demoted another star.

I'm writing this because TV guide will not respond. I've complained numerous times that when adding to or removing from watchlist you must also deactivate an alert. This is an unnecessary step. If I want an alert I can add that after watchlist. Let's see if I get a response now.

A good app that needs to be built on. It is lacking in some obvious places. Why can’t I choose Hulu or other streaming services as my TV provider? I should also be able to watch shows to my watchlist that aren’t currently airing. Having recently “cut the cord” you’d think a TV Guide app would have these options. I hope to see more streaming only options soon. Other than those, it’s a very solid app.

It's sad to see the demise of what once the best tv viewing guide in the industry. The version history indicates the last update was just 1 month ago. However, features the developer promised to fix a year ago are still not functioning. Trending News, Latest Galleries, and Top Videos feature shows that have been cancelled. The Biography channel was rebranded as FYI in 2014. The app still lists it as the Biography Channel. Channels added in 2019 have yet to be included in the listings. Have the developers given up? If so, Apple should remove it from the App Store.

The developer has failed to make the app function. There is no current listings. Cannot add favorites, or synchronize listings. Unable to find current shows. Changing passwords was a fiasco, because I uninstalled it and decided to give it another try by reinstalling it. The app is irrelevant and does not work. I’m surprised after all this time that the app still exists. Keep looking, because this mess is not what you want.

TV Guide is the only place I look for listings, other than the cable company’s “guide” screen. But why I have to see the same photos/ads for “The 100,” or “blah blah blah feminist deserving all the blah blah,” I don’t understand. Same photos, same ads have been on there for at least a year! I even deleted and reinstalled in order to see other ads...didn’t work. Is there nothing else you want to promote?

I’ve submitted an “unsubscribe” request to TV Guide almost every day for two months, generally three or four times per day, yet this email continues to spam me every day despite these repeated attempts to discontinue receiving something I no longer wish to receive. Every other “unsubscribe” I’ve ever submitted has always honored my request, but not TV Guide. I generally do not make assumptions, but after nearly two months of pushing the “unsubscribe” item at the bottom of the page and receiving the notice I’ve been “unsubscribed” with a caveat it will take at least twenty four hours to stop receding my preferences, I can’t help but wonder if their staff doesn’t care, can’t read, or they can’t tell the difference between 24 hours and 24 YEARS. I don’t know about this, but it also begs the question if TV Guide has moved their support operation out of the USA and hires foreigners instead of providing jobs for American citizens who purchase their product(s) as so many other big corporations have. If this is true, and I’m not saying it is, perhaps there is a translation, language, cultural, or some other issue. Regardless, they have a support or technical issue that needs to be fixed. I would say to anyone thinking about using this App, think again if you don’t want to receive this email for the rest of your life because you canNOT unsubscribe.

First: A lot of times when I open the app I get an error message says it failed to load. I have to select my provider and try again. Won’t work on my iPhone. Second: While scrolling (on iPad) and stop to read something it jumps to another area and enlarges for an ad. When this app first came out I really liked it but like so many other apps and programs it eventually gets overwhelmed with ads. Try watching YouTube and see what I mean. This app is getting that way very quick.

I enjoy this App, but one thing is very annoying is the constant movement of the screen when trying to view TV listings. It is constantly feeding ads that pop up in between the rows of listings. When viewing a listing it moves out of sight due to an ad appearing so that temporarily I’ve lost my place and have to go searching to find what I was looking at. Can you just load the ads and let them stay there please....

I love this TV guide. It’s easy to read and understand , it has a lot of my favorite shows and all ways has new shows. It brings back the old timers. Makes it fun to watch and l hardly ever watch Netflix.

The choices for antenna are limited. Where we live we have neither one that is listed, so we just kinda guess on which one supports us. Then we go from there to guess which show is on at the time that we are looking for

A decent enough app, providing two weeks advanced listings. However, the in-listing ads cause the screen to constantly "jump", which is an annoyance to say the least. If you are going to put ads in a listing, restrict the size of the ad box, so it doesn't have to constantly update the listing screen!

I was hoping this latest update would have Sign In With Apple but it doesn’t, so I won’t sign in to set up my favorite channels. The ads also disappear when reloading, causing the whole schedule to shift up and down as you scroll. Very annoying!

Images like recommended watching tonight are many months old from 2019 March. I deleted app, then downloaded again and still same images. Still stuck on everyone who died on Game of Thrones, for example. Nice listing of TV shows, though.

Way, way too many ads that are always shifting the screen. So as I scroll down through the many channels to select something I want to watch the screen always shifts due to ad updates. So, for example, I scroll down to AMC (channel 33 in my area) and while reading what is scheduled the screen jumps to, say, channel 60. This happens all the time. That really stinks BIG TIME! I give up.

I have an account with TV guide, but I can’t even sign into because with the use of voice-over, it will not let me. It’s hard to understand what to do when using voice-over, whether I’m on the sign up screen or the sign in screen. They look the same. Please fix this, and I will definitely give a better review.

I use this app pretty often sometimes and then I also have breaks where I don’t use it at all. Along the way there have been some glitches but like any other app, that’s going to happen as frustrating as that may seem.... Especially when you need it. For the majority of the time it’s pretty accurate and matches what I see. I do not have cable or satellite tv and with that comes no guide on tv so this works great when I want to take a glimpse at what’s on without actually scanning each channel. I have noticed lately that there is at least 1 new channel, that I know of, for those who use an antenna. In my area (Midwest) it is 6.5 Start TV. When I do land on that channel it doesn’t show the info as to what is currently on and it is not listed on this app yet so I do not usually last too long watching it. It would be nice to have the channels on the app update as soon as the channels on TV do but I am not a programmer so I haven’t the slightest clue how hard it is to update apps more often. Some I have weekly, some are monthly and some are yearly. I guess it depends on how often those are using the app and how bad the glitches are. I have had this app on various phones since about the time apps were available and I haven’t let go so far.

I’ve submitted an “unsubscribe” request to TV Guide almost every day for two months, generally three or four times per day, yet this email continues to spam me every day despite these repeated attempts to discontinue receiving something I no longer wish to receive. Every other “unsubscribe” I’ve ever submitted has always honored my request, but not TV Guide. I generally do not make assumptions, but after nearly two months of pushing the “unsubscribe” item at the bottom of the page and receiving the notice I’ve been “unsubscribed” with a caveat it will take at least twenty four hours to stop receding my preferences, I can’t help but wonder if their staff doesn’t care, can’t read, or they can’t tell the difference between 24 hours and 24 YEARS. I don’t know about this, but it also begs the question if TV Guide has moved their support operation out of the USA and hires foreigners instead of providing jobs for American citizens who purchase their product(s) as so many other big corporations have. If this is true, and I’m not saying it is, perhaps there is a translation, language, cultural, or some other issue. Regardless, they have a support or technical issue that needs to be fixed. I would say to anyone thinking about using this App, think again if you don’t want to receive this email for the rest of your life because you canNOT unsubscribe.

Final edit: After deleting and reinstalling all day, FINALLY it picks up my location. But now my account no longer exists - but funnily enough, when I try to sign up anew it tells me my account already exists. Finally start from scratch with a new made-up email and what do I immediately notice? THE GRID IS STILL OFF BY AN HOUR. I have finally decided this app is just a phenomenal piece of junk. There’s a reason it has only a few stars average rating. Sadly, I liked it because I don’t watch enough TV to remember when the few shows I watch come on and really made use of the reminders feature. But I also don’t watch enough TV to fool with such a piece of crap app. Deleting for good! —————————— Despite there having been no update, suddenly my grid and all my alerts were off by an hour. I made sure my provider had not been changed, but I couldn’t even pull it up as the app said there were no providers, despite the fact that I live in the heart of one of the largest metropolitan areas in the US. So I deleted the app, cycled my phone, and reinstalled the app. It STILL says there are no providers in the area and will not go past that screen. I am stuck, cannot go any further. My previous rating was only 3 stars so I never thought it was a great app but now it’s a virtual paperweight on my home screen.

I love that I can jump directly to the day and time I want and see a star next to my watchlist shows and the word new indicating new episodes. It’s great to be able to follow actors and get notifications whenever something they starred in is on. The notifications 15 mins before a show airs are perfect for me. I read these reviews and can’t believe them! It’s a free app so totally understandable that revenue has to come from somewhere. I’m perfectly happy to scroll past a few ads if that’s what it takes to keep it free. I’ve used this app everyday for well over a year, haven’t had a single pop up ad nor have I had any loud ads. As far as the other complaints, they’re all user error, not the apps fault! Duh if you don’t want to get a notification for every single episode then set it for “new episodes only”. All of them were like that. If I can sort out how to use the many convenient features and tailor it to fit my needs, everyone should be able to.

The much-anticipated return of CourtTV has already occurred in nearly every planned area; yet, the TV Guide app, even when refreshed wherever possible, does not show my channel that it is on right now at all in the broadcast TV listing. However, another app I have that is nowhere near as sophisticated or bloated as TV Guide, immediately alerted me via a pop-up that there was a new channel added to my broadcast area, CourtTV, and asked if I wanted to add it to my channels list. The whole process took three seconds. It’s times like this when you start to realize that apps that splash videos, articles, excessive advertisements, and flashy notifications at the users don’t necessarily have the capability of performing the most basic function that you needed it to when you downloaded it in the first place. I have had two apps on my phone for nearly 3 years, and it’s mind-boggling that TV Guide can’t even perform the most basic function of displaying accurate TV listings, even though the technology obviously exists because my plain Jane TV listings app found the new channel instantly without my even having to lift a finger.

I have an iPhone X and this app worked fine before. But since the update three weeks ago that was supposed to improve the app, it's now much worse. It has stopped automatically jumping to the current schedule, and it no longer goes back to the present schedule if you have looked at upcoming programming. In both situations, it has to be manually moved to the current spot rather than just tapping the listing icon. Hugely inconvenient! I had hoped it was a temporary glitch but three weeks on it hasn't been fixed. Also, now, the schedule is very wrong, very frequently. Often a half day behind. And even more wrong. As a matter of fact, there hasn't been one day since the update that it's been right. And most days it's wrong several times. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of a TV schedule. I dumped this app. It's too awful these days. The other option for iPhone isn't great, but much better than this one. These folks need to put this app back to how it was before the recent "improvements".
Great for finding new episodes, not their #’s

I had previously given a 5-star review but I am downgrading one star. TV Guide is still a very good and convenient tool for finding new shows of interest 14 days in advance. Only rarely do I detect flaws. I jot down shows of interest, to guide my recording, into a small notebook. (Utilizing my Comcast On Demand service.) In many cases, you need to know the episode number to keep your recordings straight and to not miss an episode. Unfortunately, TV Guide frequently gets the episode numbers wrong. More and more I find the need to double-check against web searches for a show, or compare to what the “Next Episode” app says. Episode numbers are wrong enough of the time lately that I cannot grant the full 5 stars. I will continue to rely heavily on this app but with more cross-checking labor than I used to undergo. 4stars

Needs some serious updating. This app keeps cutting out. Though I have used this app for quite some time, it has serious problems that needs fixing The developer has updated this app and now seems to be working much better. My initial response was typed quite fast since the app would only work for a short time, it would shut off and then I would have to begin again. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to type a response fast enough to the developer before this app would reset so the developer could know there was a problem to look into. Thanks for the update, this has been an excellent app and I look forward to using it for the foreseeable future.
Cannot select favorite channels

iPhone 6S, iOS 13.1.2 I’ve been using this app for 3-4 years. When it works, I really like it. Every couple of months it would lose my favorite channels and I would have to add all my favorites again. No rhyme or reason that I could deduce. Now, I cannot select favorites at all. When I am at the screen to select favorites and tap on a channel, after I remove my finger I can see a check mark on the right side of the channel for about a 1/2 second, but it doesn’t stick. I have seen at least one other review that mentioned this exact issue. I haven’t been able to use this app for a couple of months now and I really miss using it. I keep hoping for an update that might fix this, but the last update was 4 months ago. :-/ I just updated to iOS 13.1.2 yesterday, but that had no effect on this issue. Please fix this!

This app makes my quality of tv watching so much less frustrating. I have only an antenna. There is listings as were on my att screen. I was really flying blind and it was very frustrating. The channel listing function on my my tv didn’t have much other than numbers. I had no clue. Once I got TV guide I began to learn that my antenna had so much to offer. With TV guide I get a glance of what’s on and decide whether to watch Netflix or not. I don’t have to miss anything anymore. I have had absolutely no technical issues. My gosh! Laugh In is on and it’s jokes are still current today. Rod Serling was on disco cavett and The Rolling Stones’s first US appearance was on Ed Sullivan. Historically excellent. I urge anyone to get this. It’s great.
Not enough episodes shown in Watchlist

I check my Watchlist regularly so I can tell when new episodes of my favorite shows are on. But if there are more than a dozen or so episodes of a show in my Watchlist, the list of episodes by date only lists the first dozen or so. For a show in syndication (e.g., Law & Order SVU) there's so many episodes over the next two weeks that the one new episode doesn't show in the list because only the first dozen or so episodes are shown. This is not a problem when searching in the Listings. If I search for Law & Order (even without the SVU designation), it returns with dozens and dozens of episodes for the entire two weeks. Please remove the limitation on how many episodes are shown in the Watchlist so that all episodes in the next two weeks can be shown.

Where do I start! My main complaint is that when I set a timer to notify me of shows/ movies I get notified EVERY time it's on WHY would I want to watch / notify anything 10 times???!!! I tried the one time notification thinking oh that must be the answer but no it's JUST the 1 time !! I keep loosing my favorites channels and then have to start all over setting them up! The ads are so many my wifi has a hard time connecting!!!! I don't know why if developers are going to make apps why they have to make it so I'm notified EVERY time a show is on! DEVELOPERS FIX IT GET IT TOGETHER OR DON'T BOTHER WITH A THIRD CLASS APP!... Update Nothing's changed I've tried the notify 1 time but then I have to reset every week this app is basically useless when in order to get notified 1 time only I have to RESET WEEKLY MIGHT AS WELL USE PEN AND PAPER AND SAVE RESOURCES ON DEVICE FIX IT OR THE APPS USELESS !!! As close to what I do not want in an App. My major complaint is the Editor's Picks ----- "his/her" picks may not be mine. It defeats the purpose of the App, just show me the schedules and let me make up my own mind. Hire more app support staff to fix the program problems and fewer editor's pick staff. Since the last upgrade this site has become an aggravation. I sincerely do not care if someone hacks my favorite channels ----- and I doubt few others consider this a concern. I feel that the requirement for the password is just a way of up-dating your email list to increase the unwanted email ads. Waiting for the next jug-headed improvement to finally put this app to pasture.

I used to love this app to the point I created an account and interacted with the app i.e. mark shows I’d be watching and all that. Now I rarely open it and never sign in because I can’t stand an app that has excessive ads especially those that don’t provide the means or steps to remove them. Ads that you HAVE TO WATCH to watch a video that’s not even as long as the ad. You watch an ad then stop the “free” video cause 10 seconds in cause it’s not what it’s advertised to be about or you’ve seen it before but didn’t remember till you saw the first 10 seconds & so move on to a different video and even though you didn’t finish the video and barely any time has based but a new ad has to be watched. It’s almost as if the app is set to give you an ad every other tap. I’ll stick with the digital cable box’s menu to see what’s on tonight

Check on my Tv Guide app what’s is new on the Tv today. Because the Tv doesn’t promote a lite of programs that interest me like the new season of Van helsing on Syfy and the new show Goest wors on syfy! Or evil things on Tlc the Tv network doesn’t care about us people liking those cubs if programmers😩 and without the Tv Guide I couldn’t know about them! Horrible video ads and pop ups

Time to update my review: The number of ads is still ridiculous. The video ads have stopped, but now there are flashing blinking ads in between the listings AND ads inside the listing when I’m trying to read a a show’s description. The amount of ads have increased to the point of ridiculousness. A few I can understand but not this many and not this obnoxious. Time to dump this app. The horrible video ads that I can’t stop for a full 30 seconds are the last straw. The pop up ads are bad enough as are the many glitches in the app, but now this app just isn’t worth using. All I I want is to see a show’s info quickly and I shouldn’t be made to watch a 30 second video or wait to close a pop up ad. May times the listings are wrong or totally blank. Time to dump this app.
A very useful app, but one really bad change

I love being able to check the program listings with the tap of a finger, but in the older version, I could tap athe name of a show in the listings, and that would open a one-or-two line description of the episode. That was very useful. Now, that tap brings up a video window that shows an ad followed by a trailer. That takes up too much space and too much time without sufficient information. I hope they will change that back to the old way, at which time I will come back and give it five stars.

***UPDATE**** After still no response to change my email address on my TV Guide account, I decided to make a new account instead. Just write down your favorite shows/channels beforehand so you can remember to add alerts to them on the app. Smh. *************** I don’t watch TV as much as I used to but I do use this app often to see when some of my favorite shows are airing. However, customer service seems to be something that’s of little priority to you. I recently changed my email address and wanted to change that on my TV Guide app/web account. I went on the website (which constantly crashes when you go to the help/faq section) and there is no direct email address to contact anyone about my issue. I sent a direct message on Facebook and received no answer back and the app support just redirects you back to the website help/faq section. TV Guide for the digital age (and this app) has the potential to be really great but if you keep ignoring customers, it’s going to drive people away.

I’ve enjoyed this app for a long time, except until the developer made some change so that quite often, when I open the app to check for a TV listing, some annoying, obnoxious ad pops up with some guy saying something like “Maria, Maria” really, really loud (due to me keeping my iPhone volume at max — too bad the app doesn’t appear to have a separate volume control for itself, at least not that I could find, or even a mute switch to turn off the sound). And so it’s so frustrating and jarring to open the app and be pounded with this loud ad — wish they would change this, as I’ve had the app for a long time now, and I don’t remember having this problem with the app until recently).

Advertisement overwhelming just taking over fullscreen of advertisement I am not even interested in like golf and wanting me to download a Weather app when I already have the best! Wasting my valuable time of what life I have left when I would just wanna see what's on TV so I can turn to the channel! So harassing and obnoxious these advertisements makes me despise the way you do business and treat your customers! I understand you got to make a living but to hound the people using your app to death? What are sorry way to do business! You would have an outstandingApp if you would knock off your advertisers repeatedly hounding your users with the same advertisement and taking up the full screen over and over with the same ad! 3 hour time difference in listings

Well we now have to do time difference from a three hour time difference that is now displayed on the listings. Really confusing. This new mess started with the latest update. Really disappointed. I really use this app a lot and like it. Also I do not like using it any more when I am feeling like I am resting. It is horrible when all of a sudden a loud obnoxious noise starts up after being in the app for a short while. And most of the time it will not shut up unless you turn your own sound on your device. Maybe use sound canceling earphones when visiting this site plus have your time zone converter ready to use to figure out when your favs are airing.

Idk about other ppl but this app will remind me of a show or movie coming on and other times it doesn’t. I set reminders on the app to let me know when my favorites come on but it will not send a notification to my phone. And sometimes I look through my favorites list to see if any of them are coming on and it will say “no listing for the next 14 days”. But I flip through the channels later the same day and most of my favorites are on. Then I go back to the app then all of a sudden it has listings now! I would really appreciate you guys fixing this issue because it’s so convent I’m just tired of missing my shows!
Big beautiful ads

Two majors problems plague what could potentially be a very good guide. The ads are huge and obnoxious. Not just banners or columns off to the side, but great big block ads that separate your listings so great as to be a huge distraction. Just terrible ad placement from a users pov. People are greatly put off by this, and they are not going to likely be clicking more ads, just abandoning this app probably, as I may. Secondly, the watchlist keeps track of all the episodes of a given show, including the many in syndication, and not just the current season. This was a terrible idea as it pollutes the watchlist with too much useless content, and it’s difficult to see when something new is on.

I've been using this app for a long time, using the setting for antenna in my area, and primarily accessing the listings. In the last couple of days, it is no longer working properly. It opens to the listings for the current time, but no longer allows you to scroll to the left or right (well, you can but the writing becomes superimposed with the current and future description making it illegible). Same thing happens when you tap on the date, select "tonight" or "tomorrow night". Ive rebooted my phone thinking something had just gotten, and deleted and reinstalled the app. Still broken!!

Was informed that I could NOT get UVerse where I moved to but could get DirecTV or Dish through AT&T. I then asked how this was possible and they told me that AT&T had purchased both of the Satellite services. This happened sometime last year because of all the offers received from AT&T for the services, which I didn’t need before we moved. Now if TV Guide would update for these changes, and the different listings now available through AT&T. Sent an email to TV Guide support earlier. Maybe they will fix it.

Update: the app now pushes pornographic ads that hijack the screen and cannot be dismissed without shutting down the phone. There were already problems, but this is just so inappropriate. I haven’t found a good alternative, but I am deleting tv guide anyway because I cannot stand this. The app has had minor problems all along, but the latest update has me thinking that I will delete it. Additionally, some of the ads now grab the screen and re-center it on themselves. I don’t mind ads, but I do dislike having them behave so aggressively. I really hope that they will fix the problems and restore functionality, because the current version is barely usable.

Frustrating!!!! I have been using this app for quite some time. At that time, and as of two days ago, this app was very useful. Now it’s not. The times for the programs are now showing EST, and I live in the CST zone. My provider is Comcast, which it showed before. Now it comes up as “No providers found”. I even deleted the app, removed all traces, then reinstalled it. Nothing has changed and the program times are still showing in the EST zone. And still no providers are available. It doesn’t even give me the option to choose “cable”, “satellite” or “antenna”. What happened? Please fix this. And I’ll give it more stars.

This app his been perfect for years. It has onscreen ads interspersed with the listings which was a convenient way to see them. Now it has these pop up adds that suddenly cover up the screen in the middle of looking for something. At least one pops up shortly after every time the app gets focus. Being annoying makes me actively ignore whatever is on the pop up. No one is served by this. UPDATE: This has been fixed in the most recent update. Thank you!

This app does its basic job. Sometimes it can get off schedule with the listings. Recently the ads have also increased. Worst of all, the info for the movies in the listings are terrible. There is no genre depiction and the movie summaries are like crap. They basically only tell who are in the movie, not what the movie is about. This app needs to connect to IMDb like the “TV Listings” app when it comes to the movies. Personally, I always have to use the “TV Listings” app when I’m checking out a movie. Suddenly stopped working, no response

I was completely satisfied with this app until a week or so ago, when I suddenly could no longer alter the view from my favorites to ALL channels. That icon in the upper left (the arrows - two pointing left, one right) kicks me back to my iPhone display and closes the app. I e-mailed them about a week ago, with no response, and again tonight. UPDATE: After installing the update, the problem has been solved.
Needs improvement for voiceover

I remember having this application sometime ago for my iPod touch unit. Now, when you install the app, and go through the set up, you must turn off voice over in order to get through the five screens. This is very difficult for those of us who are voiceover users. We need a way to get through the set up process without having to shut voiceover off. I hope that the developers of this application take this into consideration when updating this application. This is why I am giving it only one star. Also, I would like to know how to look at shows for my different cable channels. I do not see a way on how to do this.

I’ve used this app for a long time -years- and they always manage to find some new way to make it obnoxious. The current version blasts away with ads as it’s been (thankfully they stopped the loud audio ads that scared the crud out of you At 2 am), late alerts or none at all until it’s long over, and spammy blurbs in your lock screen for articles you have no interest in at all, and no way to prevent them from blitzing you in the settings. When are they going to get a clue and have an ad-free paid version with accurate alerts and user control over the kinds of alerts we receive??
Almost too buggy to use

There’s been a bug that has existed for a very long time, through the last few updates. When I scroll to the end of the TV listings, then begin to scroll back up, the listings jump all over the place. First it’ll jump back down a few channels, then one listing will open up to its description. After this, it skips back up to a couple channels above where I left off. This is a major nuisance and makes it very difficult to view listings. I’ve tied to uninstall/reinstall, but the bug still persists. Only giving it a second since it’s my only option.
Latest update to fix iOS 9 probs didn't!

I have an iPad 3, so it's stuck on iOS 9. The fix that was supposed to fix the update that exits iOS 9 didn't work. I even rebooted to make sure there wasn't something left in memory to mess things up. Please just go back a couple of revs until you actually get this fixed! UPDATE 20 March 2019: back to 4 stars because it works again in iOS 9. I use OTA in San Diego, CA, and it's still missing channel 17.1, 17.2, 17.3, and 17.4. At least I can see all the other channels again!
Annoying ads.

Sometime in late February or early March, this TV Guide app started spitting out annoying advertisements with audio messages. Please stop these ads. When I use this app, it is to see what TV shows are on what channel at what time. I do not want an ad to pop up with a barking dog, or annoying music, or some other garbage while I’m trying to watch TV, especially when other people are present. Is extremely irritating. I don’t know whose idea this was at your company, but they should be fired whoever they are. Because it’s a stupid idea. Sincerely, someone that used to like your TV Guide app but does not anymore.
Bad app

I can put up with the fairly large ads that actually break up the listings that you have to scroll past… the shows are sometimes listed for the wrong time, it seems to be random, but generally if something happens, it’s an hour off... The very reason I downloaded this was to not miss a show... so that’s a big one for me. They also have now started doing fullscreen random video ads that just pop up, as you try and scroll through the listings that you need to close the video to be able to see the listings. That was the last straw for me. Not going to deal with that. Happy trails TV guide… Good luck not annoying everyone that uses it.

I enjoy this App, but one thing is very annoying is the constant movement of the screen when trying to view TV listings. It is constantly feeding ads that pop up in between the rows of listings. When viewing a listing it moves out of sight due to an ad appearing so that temporarily I’ve lost my place and have to go searching to find what I was looking at. Can you just load the ads and let them stay there please....

Ever since I updated this TV Guide app I’ve had nothing but problems. First of all, it will randomly just close without warning. But it also locks up more now. The big problem I have is when it (frequently) “de-programs” all of my Favorite Channels, which is a pain in the neck having to reprogram. I’m not sure what changes you made to it but please go back to the original version.

It’s great to be able to check what’s will be on TV that night or the next day, even when you’re not at home or your TV is not on. You can set up the channels that you get with the ones that you like to watch so I don’t have to scroll through millions of channels. I have TVs both on Verizon and over air so I can check both. There doesn’t seem to be any other option to have all the services and it’s free.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I really thought that I could use this as a real TV Guide. I have SlingTv and I also use my antenna for my local channels so I chose the Sling in settings, made those favorite channel choices, went back to settings, and chose my local channel favorites. They were there for two days; I didn't go into TV Guide for one day and when I went back all of my favorites were gone. I will check back again at another time and see if updates/improvements have been made but not having cable I need something that will give me both local and SlingTv or whatever TV provider I choose to use.

This is a great app to figure out what's on. I don't use a lot of the extra features, but I love that it's up-to-date (often including individual episode info) and customizable. However, I would like to see one feature implemented: blending of multiple tv providers. I'm a cord cutter so I don't have a tv provider. But I do have an antenna and subscribe to slingtv. It would be awesome if I could combine my antenna channels and my slingtv channels into a single list to access the lineup.
Autoplay irritating ads- developer response...

After writing about my frustration with video ads playing on their own when the app is open, I got a response from the developer. I was told that “most of the intrusive ads have been removed.” That’s progress & I appreciate that there’s someone listening. I’ve changed my review from 1 to 3 stars. I would still like all of the video ads to need prompting from the user. I’ll change my rating if or when that happens. I should have a choice to listen or not listen.

I really only use this app for what I call trash news and it’s great for that. I have never used the guide so I can’t account for the frustration that others have experienced. I took a star away bc it’s irritating when so many articles reference videos or images that are not linked into the article in any way. Maybe I’m supposed to look them up but that seems ridiculous in this age of linking videos anytime anywhere.

Working great now. The app could be improved a bit more but works good now. Old review: Had the app working fine before iOS 13.1 upgrade. Now the app flakes out when trying to toggle the triple menu button at the top left hand corner. Every time you push it the app closes immediately. Also the little videos in the app do not load. Hopefully this will be updates as I like this app a lot and it helps me with remembering all my shows I watch on TV.

I used to buy TV guide magazine back in the 70-80s. Life and tv was possible easier. We only had tv not the added extras. I grew up where they made movies and tv programs happen. Saw them filming all the time and had 2 programs shot at and in my house so I truly love tv. Knowing how I loved TV Guide then my thought is how hard will it be to navigate the TV guide via internet now. Ha ha ha ...... jokes on me. I can’t find anything. I know I’m old but I can still read. I can’t figure out how to find what I’m looking for. And I still have just regular tv. I’m not doing all the sub tv programs. The then husband didn’t want me buying you at all though it was a waste of money. I told him it was the articles I like to read so I vetoed him. You were my life line. Especially when I had babies. TV Guide, I loved you once. It was a great affair. I am sorry to say I have to divorce you like I did the husband. You’re to complicated for this old lady. As Bob Hope used to say and I quote ........ Thanks for the memories 😘
App is an hour ahead

For some reason the last two days my app has been off the correct time by an hour. For example, if it’s 1:00 pm and I open my app it goes to the 2:00 pm slot. I checked that I was still still signed in and my provider settings were right, so what is the deal. I missed the first hour of the Celebrity Big Brother finale and the Bachelor Women Tell All because the app said they were on at 8:00 pm when they actually started at 7:00 pm. Please FIX!!!
Change background back to white

I use this all the time for setting up recordings on our Spectrum TV online site since this is much easier to navigate. Sometimes there are differences in the listings vs. what is actually on Spectrum. I also like the ability to search for shows in the future. However, they recently changed their background to black with white letters. I find this very difficult to read, even though “NEW” stands out in red...not a good change. This is why I’ve rated it 3 stars.
Pop ups are out of control!

I fully understand that this is an app designed for advertising. However, when I can't read but one or two lines of an article without another pop up filling the majority of the screen my frustration level escalates. Let the pop-ups be off to one side or the other or at the top or bottom. Let me read the articles that have gotten my attention. At a certain point I just close the app and ignore it all and I don't think it is your intention to drive viewers away. That does nothing for your advertising dollars.
