Background uploading murders my battery.
by Quentin Biles on 2018/01/16 17:06
Enabling background uploading drains my battery insanely quickly. The app is horribly optimized with how it handles background data. Do not use this feature.

I love the fast forwarding and rewinding feature when you listen to downloaded music but the downside is that you and pick or re-pick the song you just listened to, you literally have to go to the app/unlock your phone and manually pick the song you wanna listen to. Please fix this
Ruined
by dragon813gt on 2018/01/13 15:02
Stop changing things for the sake of change. There was nothing wrong w/ the old versions. Actually they were easier to use. This is a simple file management tool. K.I.S.S. should be the principle behind it.

great app
If I could give it 0 Stars, I would.
by Kykyharward on 2018/01/12 06:33
Dropbox clearly has had a lot of bad reviews lately, and 3 years ago I would have given it 5 Stars. But now, realizing that my photos that I’ve backed up onto Dropbox for 3 YEARS have all been deleted without my knowledge. I had videos and pictures of my dad (who is now passed away) that I can never get back. This is so heartbreaking and frustrating to me. I wouldn’t suggest this app at all!!
Works ok but not great
by Phattyhales on 2018/01/12 04:33
I use Dropbox for work regularly. I use it on my phone to pull photos from and it works great when it comes to downloading photos but uploading them from my phone is painfully slow! It doesn't matter if I'm connected to Wi-Fi or not.
I love Dropbox

Near impossible to cancel
by dropboxsux on 2018/01/11 05:33
I downloaded dropbox because I needed to use it for a job but when I tried to cancel my free trial I had difficulty finding clear information on how to do so. When I finally found that ‘canceling’ your trial is the same thing as deleting your account I was bombarded with at least three obnoxious, clingy messages begging me not to go. Thankfully I realized that ‘deleting’ my account didn’t have any effect and that I had to, in effect, ‘delete’ my account three times for it to have any effect. Poor business. When someone says no, let them go. Don’t be so obnoxiously clingy, dropbox. UPDATE 1/09/18 I was charged for my Dropbox ‘subscription’ even though I have NO OPTION in my ‘subscriptions’ to cancel anything. I’m now trying to contact Apple but I got kicked out of a chat session and their phone lines are currently closed.

by Jmac dude on 2018/01/10 03:47
Redesign is an improvement. But now the app is hoarding half a gig in its cache. I tried to clear the cache via the app several times to no avail. I don’t have any offline files either. Not looking forward to running out of space and having to delete the Dropbox app.

Can’t use on iPhone X
by Herculeidon on 2018/01/08 21:26

iPad truncated file names
by anseldog on 2018/01/08 18:29
I have contacted Dropbox about this problem for several years. Each time they release an updated version, I’m hopeful they have repaired this iPad design problem. On an iPad, the only way to see the complete title of your document from a list is to individually select a single document at a time. This wouldn’t be a problem if there were a few documents in a list but when there are hundreds of documents it makes the app unworkable despite all the other outstanding features it has. My workaround? Use the Dropbox iPhone app. Dropbox: I would really enjoy using the iPad to select and open documents, whose full titles I can see in a list. Does getting one star from me get your attention?

Poor UX
by College'r on 2018/01/07 17:11
The app’s UX has greatly degraded over time. Dropbox completely removed the feature to browse files based on their location in Dropbox. Now, if their search feature can’t find the file or directory you were looking for, there is no way to even access the file or directory. Why remove such a helpful feature?

Moving files

So I tried to move my things from my Dropbox app to the phone so I won’t have to use it from the app alllll the time but it won’t allow it. I PUT them on therefrom the phone but moving them back to the phone well... it’s like once you put it in Dropbox they own it
Music
by E-2 KZ on 2018/01/06 20:25
I use this for nothing but music and it’s great so far, but there is one thing I don’t like. I like it that you can put your music in its own folder but I don’t like that you have to continue to go back to the app to choose a different song, if you could make it where you can continually listen to songs in a folder that would be amazing.
This app has been ruined by dark patterns and restrictions
by Prosumer on 2018/01/06 19:24
Everything possible is done to keep you from getting your data out of this this app and into usable places on iOS. Hidden UI, strange language just dark ux patterns. The app used to be really simple and good. Too bad.

Interface keeps getting worse
by 56t on 2018/01/06 14:31
The Dropbox app is a fascinating study in how an app can end up being horrible because of the interface design driven by business decisions, despite outstanding backend engineering. The service is completely reliable. I love the service. But the app and interface are horrible: they keep changing it, which is awful in itself. Then, there’s a giant comment button that covers your content no matter what and can never be removed, no options, no nothing. Just unbelievably stupid. And now there is no way to access files that are permanently stored on your device, without endless clicks. There is really no useful way to quickly access your most important files at all. Of the useful buttons at the bottom, most are dedicated to crap you don’t want but they do, because it increases storage and makes them more money – photos, adding content, and other stuff you don’t really want from your mobile device. All of these decisions are user-hostile and make the app worse and worse and worse. I guess I’ll have to start looking for alternatives.
Not focused on consumer

New features all seem focused on corporate users. No support for Live Photos
Not very compatible with iPad Pro
by high desert prof on 2018/01/06 05:37
I can’t understand why anyone would use (and pay for) this app when Google Drive works so seamlessly with iPads. I downloaded this app first and had nothing but issues. I tried to access a PowerPoint file that I had uploaded from a PC to Dropbox, and for some inexplicable reason, it copied it 86 times as it uploaded. Yes, I had 86 of the exact same files saved within my Dropbox app. And, they were also corrupted. It was incredibly frustrating, especially given that my iPad Pro was brand new, so it wasn’t due to my device. Then, when working with Word and attempting to save files, it would cause the Word app to freeze and crash. Once I stopped using it and started using Google Drive, the issues stopped.
Dropbox!!!
by Big Fan of LM's work on 2018/01/06 03:43
As a business owner and college student- Dropbox is essential! I love that files can appear on my phone, laptop, and online. I appreciate the security I have with my files here. On another note, I accidentally deleted some important files tonight and found the “recover deleted files option.” I’ve used Dropbox for over five years and didn’t know I could do this! I was able to bring my files back and now I am even more appreciative of this app! 🙏🏼
Utterly useless
by DonnaDiane on 2018/01/05 18:40
Useless on an iPhone. No way to download a file and send it to a client.... have to send one if their obtrusive links for the client to waste their time on. If I can figure a way to ditch Dropbox (not iCloud) I am. Sick and tired of their link bs.
Love Dropbox online but...
by Danwallbeats on 2018/01/05 17:50
The app crashes any time it’s opened, absolutely useless.
No layout :-(
by Cynber on 2018/01/05 17:29
The new layout is VERY unimpressive. "Home"take you where? "Files" takes you some where useful, but still less info that the older version gave out. Not an improvement!
Ambiguous Interface
by GGorska on 2018/01/05 16:22
I love Dropbox and use it on iPad, phone & computer, but the latest app update is so elegant that I can’t understand it. What I believe is the Make Available Offline is a tiny circle with an arrow. It changes color if you click it but who knows if you just saved it to your device, or removed it? Someone using the app for the first time might not even be aware that this feature is available. Sorry, UI designers, graphical toggles based on color pretty much need some text. (My other longstanding complaint is the file list organized by creation date: just show me my folders!)

Great app, but not for what I need
by Keytonbarnum on 2018/01/03 21:31
Dropbox is an extraordinary way to keep your files safe, and backed up. But the reason I’m using this app is so I can listen to music offline and without a paid subscription. I’m able to easily download music to my Dropbox but I’m not able to easily play songs one after another. I’m only able to simply play individual songs and have to select another song after the previous was over. It gets very annoying. If at all possible I’d like to suggest a way to skip and play songs without having to go into the app and select the file.
Stopped synching - useless now.
by Lowertech on 2018/01/03 19:55
It no longer synchs on my iPhone or iPad, so it is useless. Also, I am unable to read reviews of the app on the iPad!?? Between Dropbox and Apple, frustration is my middle name! 👎

by Taticat9 on 2018/01/03 05:18
Why not make it easier to log in and out of multiple accounts? I can’t be the only person who has to have a separate account for work than I use for personal files. It’s a requirement at my job, and it’d be nice to have an easier time doing it.
Super unintuitive file management. One of the most primitive file explorer apps i have ever used.
by Diegojones on 2018/01/03 05:14
Dropbox has been around for the longest time, this piece of file app for iOS is so primitive that surprises me. This app for ipad version has huge but u resizable preview panel that i do not use often, most of what i do need to be able to see the entire file name, but the supposedly file explorer panel is so narrow on the iPad version that leaves me dissatisfied with viewing just 1/2 or 1/3 of the file names that i work with. Super basic actions such as selecting, deleting, copying/moving and pasting, creating new file/folder, open-in functions, all is really a choir to do, those functions are stoved into [...] buttons, and each action takes 3-4 steps to accomplish is just so dissatisfying. Recycling bin can only be accessed via full website version on a desktop web browser, yet again, to recover a file/folder, is such a choir. The app itself and Dropbox file management as a whole have poor showcase on its functions, basic actions are placed out of plain sight, takes users more time to learn what’s where and which button’s what. I’m considered a techie person but yet struggle to do basic tasks with this app even having used it for a little while; my parents would no way be able to figure this thing out on their own, let alone being patient enough to continue using it after they have learnt how to use it.
Love the Folders I Am now Able to See
by Clurichaun on 2018/01/03 04:40
First off, the price for cloud space is ridiculous. I think having a tier system like Apple would be a nice option. Needless to say I have quite a few apps that utilize Dropbox and don’t save anything but backups of documents, never pictures because they eat up the free space one is given when sign up. I use on an iPhone 8, iPad Pros and the Mac and syncing has never been an issue. It is now friendly with PDF Expert which is super useful, plus the drag and drop works great and simplifies moving the crapfest of random documents I have scattered everywhere into their correct home.

Offline files failed
by deepsoul13 on 2018/01/02 23:14
I set a file to be offline, it synced and I was ready to go. A few days later, I’m offline and I go to open the file. I select it from the “offline files menu” that was stupidly hidden away in the settings menu instead of being easily accessible. Anyway, I see the the file from the list of current offline files, and it says “hmm can’t load file because you’re offline - try selecting the file to be offline next time so you can access it anytime” Talk about an epic fail in Dropbox’s part. I’ve also addressed this in multiple previous reviews and the issue is never addressed. So now I get to put one star to maybe get your attention.
No Drag and Drop?
by astro13rm on 2018/01/02 03:02
How long as iOS 11 been out and, to my knowledge, there’s no drag and drop in the app. That seems like quite the oversight. But hey, at least we got some “cool” artwork.
More "Simple" Less Accessible
by Kapiccino on 2018/01/02 01:49
Over the last few months, Dropbox has been trying to push the material design aesthetic on their app, and while the first iteration didn't bother me (the grid mode with a file list beneath was actually very neat), the latest iteration with empty space in the grids with text looks both tacky and emphasizes a lack of control over organization. I've been having a lot of trouble specifically with not being able to organize files by their actual file creation / modification dates; instead, Dropbox will always insist on organizing by the date it was uploaded to Dropbox, which should be a separate option entirely. I recently had to clear my backup folder and reupload everything, only to find the chronological order to be an absolute mess when I got back to the app. Please remove the clutter and give us an option for organizing by actual file date.
Disappointed
by Absnisshkskdh on 2018/01/02 00:16
Very invasive program on all operating systems. Constantly asking to back up this that and the other thing on every device and when you select "don't ask again," asks literally the next time you go to do something.
Easy peasy!

Almost unusable on mobile.
by MilesDvs on 2017/12/31 22:11
At least for my purposes. Dropbox on desktop is solid. Mobile, not so much. Navigation is cumbersome. Wanted to download some photos to my phone, saving to camera roll in bulk selection wasn't an option. I guess I have to download one at a time.

Horrible
by Ps-- on 2017/12/30 08:12
Very hard to control the cursor when editing text files. When I come back from another app, all edits are lost. Hard to believe it is so buggy as you release updates so often. I am a paid user.
Doesn’t work anymore
by Deathcomp on 2017/12/30 00:14
I’ve had Dropbox for a long time. I’ve had the paid version for several years. One reason I’ve used it for so long because the app kept all of our pictures and videos backed up to Dropbox. With the latest version 76.2 it no longer auto backs up videos. I have it enabled but videos just don’t work. It does pictures fine but videos aren’t working. I have to manually upload them which makes it pretty useless. If they don’t fix this I will have to look at moving to google drive or something else.

Slowwwwww
by raviapps4 on 2017/12/27 21:21
This is the slowest storage app out there. Takes forever to upload 15 pics. One drive does it in less than 30 seconds whereas this app takes 5 minutes. Horrible upload timings.
They broke it
by Stringbean42 on 2017/12/27 15:53
No way to quickly see offline files. Camera upload is just plain broken. Images go up randomly, some never do. No way to select multiple photos to share via email. Nearly useless. Look for alternatives!
Horrible customer support
by Xchq on 2017/12/26 23:40
Long story short, I was prompted to create a new password but the confirmation was sending to an old e mail address. They offered no easy solution. I was left with one option. Create a new Dropbox and re sync 350gb. It’s been a huge hassle. They are rude and condescending and you can only reach them by phone if you are a pro member. I was left exchanging frustrating e mails with them (fedra in particular). Most services will have you create a security pin or questions. Not Dropbox. That keep it super complicated and very difficult. So now my files are lost at their mercy while I just duplicated them to add more to another account. It makes no sense. I would suggest google drive before using Dropbox .

Used to be great, but now locks up
by Reader1718 on 2017/12/25 05:31
This once-great app now locks up after picking your folder name, so if you want to rename your file first, then do so before picking your folder. That is, when DB lets you rename your file AT ALL. 😡🤬 I used to have no problems using this app, but now I think I’ll look elsewhere. Thanks for nothing, developers! See ya never and definitely don’t expect to see a penny of my money!👋🏻
Please update with basic playback tools like
by RnbLover! on 2017/12/25 01:37
1. bigger play, stop, pause in audio playback 2. loop function This is particularly important as we use the app a lot to listen back to mp3s in development, however it is a huge safety issue to locate the tiny little play button every time to restart playback when driving for example. 3. Can you make it possible to please choose weather we want the audio to remember where left off or not. In meetings this is particularly annoying when it starts somewhere else than the beginning. I have sent messages about this before and years ago without any updates and am now adding a review about this for the first time in hope that you take it more seriously. Please fix these basic things so us professionals that rely on your app quite a bit can have a more seamless and safe experience. Thank you immensely and have a fantastic christmas!
Used to work
by Nayneenoo on 2017/12/24 15:08
This app used to be my go to app to get my photos off my phone and onto my laptop. Now it’s worthless. I used to be able to simply open the app and the photos that hadn’t been uploaded would queue. That is not the case anymore. I had to manually add the pictures to the queue and after ten minutes it is still telling me 170 pictures uploading....except they’re not. Please fix this! Put it back the way it was!
Increasingly Improving
by MJ Quin on 2017/12/24 14:03
I have been using Drop box for years after seeing my daughter using it on her MAC in high school about six years ago. It was a little to get used to at first but now that I’ve upgraded to Plus it’s has a little more fluidity and moving between the files to store and create new files has become more seem-less. Moving files of large volume of vids and pics is done with relative ease. I downloaded it onto another phone as well and can work twice as fast interchangeable between the two devices. It had been a great asset to me and wouldn’t do without it. Suggestions would be, being able to drag and drop and drag and select multiple items on the phone screen, saving so much time in creating and moving uploaded pics and documents, instead of individually having to tap each individual item. When it comes to a Plethora of pics, would save hours of wasted time individually tapping on them. As well as many page documents. I still use my cam scan to scan multiple page documents then share it to Dropbox. If you could get the scanning to be as seamless as camscan all in one app capability would be greatly advantages as well.
Best File Mgmt App - HORRIBLE on iOS
by brentgrab on 2017/12/24 10:08
Just switched from a Samsung Android device and Dropbox was a dream. I also love it on my MacBook Air. For some idiotic reason, on iOS, file navigation is a dang nightmare! Clicking the back blue button top left does not get you back in the file flow. I.e. if you search for a keyword that you know your desired file is somewhere within that folder, you need to get it right on the money or you won’t find it. On my Android and MacBook I would search and find files and be able to go between parent and child folders and see how deep I am inside the parent folder with the top left showing the various levels of folder structure. On iOS it doesn’t do this and it makes it so impossible to find your files. I hate Dropbox on iOS. I pray they fix it ASAP because I saw several other similar reviews with same issues and this app is critical in my life. If they don’t fix soon I’ll go back to BOX.

by Marina Desktop on 2017/12/22 14:09
After using Dropbox for 7+ years and even getting my company to switch to Dropbox business I just had to install google photos for saving photos. So sad to do this since I hate Google drive stuff. Come on! How long do we have to wait for the photo fix? I have 10,000 photos synced to Dropbox. I can not browse through them, I can search... now I have to be pulling them out of them. It’s gonna take months. I was really hoping Dropbox was my storage solution for life. Two stars because I still think Dropbox is better than Google drive, which has serious syncing issues on PC.
Doesn’t upload correctly
by UserTOO001 on 2017/12/22 06:34
I absolutely hate the upload features on this app. No matter how many times I select the correct settings, allow uploads to use the cellular network, or manually upload files it takes forever, if at all. This app requires it to be open during uploads and the screen needs to be on/unlocked. When it auto locks the upload stops. Your entire business is designed around uploading files to your cloud so, why can’t I upload files to your cloud? This occurs with files that are less than 1 MB and large video files that are greater than 1 GB. I pay yearly for this service and it doesn’t work.

by Gogo guy on 2017/12/21 06:06
For some reason I now have two Dropbox accounts and I have been trying for a few months to get Dropbox customer Service to combine my accounts and all I get is “double talk”. As soon as I can off load all my docs I’m closing both accounts. This is horrid
Still no drag-n-drop or grid view of Camera Roll
by SeriouslyDave on 2017/12/20 17:18
Dropbox only allows a ‘collections’ view of My Photo Stream (not Camera Roll even though it says so) when using it’s selective upload feature. This interface shows far more images than I want to see and requires tons of scrolling since it wastes space by separating photos by date. This wouldn’t be quite as bad if Dropbox supported iOS’s drag-and-drop feature on an iPad Pro, which would be perfect with split view.

Awful
by Piotr N on 2017/12/19 16:52
Dropbox for iOS has nothing in common with the desktop version. It does not refresh files - and there is no way to force it to refresh them. Using this piece of crapware is frustrating and potentially very dangerous - I am now at the airport and unable to access on the iPhone my travel documents that I saved to Dropbox on my computer. DO NOT rely on Dropbox for iOS, it will disappoint you.
Frustrating for videos
by Courtb1980 on 2017/12/19 02:42
It literally takes days for a video to upload to my file. I don’t know what’s the cause or the best solution but I’ve been uploading the same 4 videos for DAYS now. Any help or advice would be a help
I LOVE THIS APP

This app is amazing and saves all my photos neatly.
read if you’re running out of storage!
by coolgamedood on 2017/12/17 22:25
hi! I am quite the photo and screenshot taker and I frequently run out of space but, dropbox isn’t the answer. Its quite challenging to use and very time consuming. if you want a quick, easy place to store UNLIMITED photos use “google photos” on the app store. just link it to ur email and it will automatically syncs all ur photos and store them safely forever as long as you know ur email password. I currently have two old dropbox’s I never use bc I ran out of storage on both. disappointed with “free” storage limits and user-friendly-ness bc its not! thanks for reading.

I keep coming back to Dropbox
by DVC1911 on 2017/12/15 13:11
I’ve tried Microsoft OneDrive - which only works sometimes and which Does Not encrypt private users files at rest. I’ve tried Google’s solution - which always works but I wonder about the privacy of anything Google. Dropbox always works for me, syncing my MacBook, iPad, iPhone, and PC without issues.
Poor iOS 11 support
by antiVoldy on 2017/12/15 01:44
The app hangs often, doesn’t support drag and drop, doesn’t work well in the Files app, and is generally unreliable on iOS.
Great application
by pdl1lbq on 2017/12/14 23:47
It helps a lot to get the job done. I use it for saving what I want from the social media, office work, family & friends media. Very easy to share links & get your files with you wherever you are.
Video issue
by Reiner360 on 2017/12/14 22:04
Since the latest Dropbox update, when I download and then save videos from my iPhone to my laptop, I am only able hear the video on my computer. I can no longer view it. This is very disappointing after spending time waiting for it to download and because the ICloud interface is not working properly this was the only way I could transfer photos and videos off my phone.
It is worthless
by Hxghgfdfhg on 2017/12/13 18:58
It doesn’t work and has never worked and certainly hasn’t worked on my phone. It is a waste. If I knew how, I would get my money back. Do not get this app now or ever. It doesn’t create space. It takes up space. Lousy. Worthless. Harmful.
Return Pervious File Sorting Options enhance for iOS 11

Title says it all. Please return the original options for file sorting and enhance the application to take advantage of iOS 11 enhancements. New devices have increased speed, especially when applications take full advantage of new capabilities.
Best interface of the cloud drive apps but slow otherwise
by jrnvk on 2017/12/13 02:11
I really do like the user interface that makes it easy to batch upload images to your cloud account. That being said, uploading files takes considerably longer than OneDrive or Google Drive. This is something that they really need to focus on and fix.
Don't update!
by Ygottaylor on 2017/12/12 04:52
Dropbox used to be my go to app for file sharing across all my devices, but now with the latest update you cannot even export PDFs into iBooks, images properly and so forth. Definitely disappointing. Glad I had the old apps on my computer so I could downgrade. Don't update! (That being said, the older version is still perfect).

A few weeks ago my office switched our mobile cloud storage option to Dropbox, blocking access to iCloud and other services. I’ve been stuck using it ever since, and I have been thoroughly unimpressed. I enjoy chances to try new tech and new services, and was prepared to be blown away, but Dropbox seems more interested in “building a brand” and slapping pretty colors on things than it is in building a solid product for iOS. Dropbox took a week to release the iOS 11-“optimized” version of its app, while other services had their apps live *before* iOS 11 even went live. 11 has been out for how long now, yet we’re still waiting for drag-and-drop support for moving files around in-app. Now, weeks later, I just downloaded the “splashy” new update hoping this functionality would be there, but it appears to consist solely of bug fixes and a revised app icon. The updated app visuals that are supposed to make my mundane daily file interactions “extraordinary” are so subtle that I don’t notice them. Here’s what would be extraordinary: update the app to take advantage of all of iOS 11’s new productivity capabilities. That would be a far more profound app update—and rebranding—than what Dropbox appears committed to doing.
“Supposedly” works... give me a break.
by Axew3252005 Spor-Hernandez on 2017/11/08 01:07
I’ve used this app from the most complicated of jobs to as simple as a Minecraft™ world being downloaded, and every single time, whether it’s an audio file from Wikipedia or an audio file from GarageBand™, it will not save, and my account, it always says the password is wrong, no matter how many times I reset the password. Anybody who is smart and looks at the reviews of the app before downloading, I give you a warning, do not use! All the others who say that it’s awesome, probably haven’t found the better apps, so they deal with the intense crashing I forgot to mention. Can’t run it for more than 3 minutes without it crashing. Even got it on my phone, very first app I installed thinking that maybe it was storage space that was making the app crash, actually, that was kinda true. 7 minutes and 45 seconds (yes I timed it) without crashing. Do not use this app! Other people have reported being scammed, and then the developer shrugging their shoulders, even if they paid for the monthly plans. In fact, one person allegedly reported paying for the monthly plan, and getting charged for the annually plan. He is now behind on his bills.
Photos GONE!!! And the refused to refund.
by Ratemetruthfully on 2017/09/28 13:45
I like many others have used Dropbox to save my photos over the years since iCloud has clean swiped my photos several times in the past. I recently went to check on my photos as I'm looking to upgrade my iOS and always double check my back ups before doing so. Low and behold my biggest fear realized. All my photos have been deleted WITHOUT my permission. According to the person that helped me they can only restore photos from a 30 day deletion period (mine is now 3 months deleted apparently) so they can't help me. In my opinion, I pay for the safety of my photos with this app and since Dropbox failed MISERABLY to secure my photos I believe the fair and right thing to do is refund my subscription cost. But no, I've been told that they WILL not refund me my subscription of two years due to their "policies". Unbelievable. Tell me drop box, why the hell am I a paying customer to have peace of mind that my photos and documents are safe with you when you just freaking delete them anyway? AND then refuse to take accountability and refund my money? Don't pay this company. They have zero integrity.
Perfect for beginners like me
by Supernatural witch on 2017/12/11 01:30
I hate learning new technology! I’m slow and get frustrated easily. I was worried this would be another program that I used once and deleted. However it’s just what I need. I dozens of documents over the internet daily. Some are sent through email, some on websites, instant message, even through Twitter. I also use Rocketbooks. I wanted to be able to store all of these in one place. Most programs that do that are expensive or are difficult to learn. (At least for this old dog.) Add in a wireless printer and I was completely lost. This makes it easy to send paperwork to one file or another. It can be organized by date or name. Plus printing is a breeze. I can see where people that have more experience or want/need more would find this program lacking but for someone like me who has so much stuff spread everywhere with little patience to learn this is great!
One of my top five apps
by Ad hater 20140323 on 2017/10/12 12:21
Update Oct 12,'17: The "Folder too large" bug is back. Very annoying although doesn't affect functionality other than having red x's everywhere you can't get rid of. I originally started using this app several years ago because the iPhone Photos app was so bad (still is) for organizing pics. After a year I upgraded to paid version and now this has become one of my top 5 apps (along with email, browser, excel, and quicken) and is my primary tool for sharing data across my computers and iPad and iPhone. Still some areas that need improvement. Handling very large files and folders of very large files is getting better. And archives of old versions somehow. Ransomware hit me a year ago and Dropbox happily replaced my data with the corrupted files across all my devices. Fortunately I make weekly backups as well so didn't actually lose anything.
They stole $1200 from me!
by Al3736 on 2017/10/26 16:20
I am writing this review to warn people not to except upgraded trials from dropbox! I had a free dropbox account and was offered a team trial for 30 days, at the end of the trial and said I would be charged $20 a month. At the end of the month I decided to keep it for another month as I figured it would only be $20. Sure enough I see a $1200 deduction from my bank account from Dropbox saying that I signed up for a year with five licenses and they said that I chose to pay annually! This was not the case and after calling and contacting dropbox many times they refuse to refund me even though they see that I’m the only one who’s use the account! Stay away from dropbox what kind of leading competitor does this to someone now I am behind on my bills as I am someone that lives paycheck to paycheck and I have been depressed ever sense! I lost my only brother this year so it’s been hard enough and I even inform dropbox but they shrugged their shoulder!
Used to be a great app
by Just_Me_Too56657 on 2017/11/04 14:44
(I am a free account user, haven't checked if my gripes apply to the paid account as well) Dropbox works well... As long as you don't mind the "walled garden" syndrome. I have been a Dropbox user from the beginning, and enjoyed using it most of the time. I don't remember when I first noticed the following issues, but have been waiting patiently for a few updates to come out, in hope they will be resolved: 1. There is no way to export the actual file, without a string attached. Trying to share or "export" leads to a shared link, or an email sent out - really?!!! I can't even, just Airdrop it to my Mac?? 2. In one of the latest "upgrades", although Dropbox did announce it was coming, they had cut-off backup options to some of my important daily apps, causing a very unpleasant procedure, to get back to work, wasting time figuring out how to get the backup files back to to it's originating app. One in particular, a scanner app, that provides annual, categorized reports, of all scanned receipts, that I invested 4 years, to include every important detail, even mileage. Although I do have all my receipts scans, the app's database is destroyed. If I'll ever be able to fix this damage, I will never use Dropbox for it, or any other database app, for that matter.
100% Reliable
by SK350 on 2017/12/06 10:19
Anything I want to access or think I may need to access, I put in Dropbox. And years later, when I need that machine manual that I put “somewhere”, the 1st place I look is Dropbox. I can’t say that I take advantage of all its features, but I do use it and it always works for me. For those whining about not keeping up with iOS11 “drag and drop” features, get a life. And stop whining. I use Dropbox from my iPhone 7, my iPad Air, and my HP desktop PC. What I care about is that my items are available and synced across all platforms. I also like that I can access my information from any device anywhere, just by signing in. Just remember to log out. I don’t yet use Dropbox or any cloud storage for photographs, so I can’t comment on that use. All I can say, is that whatever I need to store and need access to away from my home desk, I put in Dropbox. And whenever I need that information, be it a file from yesterday or years ago, it is there. It is always there and always easy to find. Like I said, 100% reliable.
Basically Junk Now
by James L. Bond on 2017/11/27 20:33
So buggy it’s junk now. Example: When in an app, and trying to move a file, it won’t show content of all folders, just some. Sometimes the Dropbox app itself can see inside of all folders, but not always, and even when it works, you’re forced into a new and longer workflow to get around their bugs. Stay away. —Original Review— Used to be great, but now a buggy mess. May not be trustworthy with your critical files anymore, IMHO. Getting to point of not using Dropbox anymore. Latest show-stopping bug: Save 5 files from Mail. Only one shows up in Dropbox Try to re-save missing files. Get error saying files already exist even though not showing up in FIles, Dropbox app, or website. The great irony is this company was founded because syncing files was dangerously unreliable. WIth distractions like Paper and a meaningless new design/coat of paint, it’s clear the core product we pay for is becoming close to unusable and perhaps dangerous to trust any longer. I’ve been a paying customer and put my company on Dropbox for years. I know there is a new OS and with that comes new bugs, so I’ll give them another round of bug fixes, but after that we’ll drop them. There are plenty of reliable alternatives at great prices nowadays.
Last two updates
by Photoman01 on 2017/10/14 12:36
The last two Dropbox updates have caused issues. On both my iPhone and iPad have issues with using the back feature on the top left corner. The only way to get back up a level is to press the files icon on the bottom left. Today, on my iPhone, one folder has an old folder listed that I deleted over a month ago. There is nothing in it. A folder I added a week ago is not there and the two pictures that were in it are gone. On the iPad it is correct. Also, on the iPhone, Dropbox shows it needs to upload three files. The app is locked up whereby it indicates that it is loading them but is not. Dropbox has worked well for me up until now.
Frustrated
by Jessiels on 2017/12/02 11:25
My photos and videos are no longer being automatically uploaded unless I’m in the app. I realized none of my videos have been uploaded and it has taken forever to upload just one or two of them. I spent hours categorizing organizing thousands of photos with carousel. When they took carousel away my photos were only organized by date which is extremely frustrating. I pay money for a service to accurately and securely store precious memories and important documents and I have started questioning whether or not it would be worth the time and headache to move all of my photos and videos to something that will be more reliable and functional. Dropbox customer service is terrible. It took days of waiting for someone to correspond with me. The representative was very rude and unhelpful.
Functionality is great but only until you need support
by 1965.06.02 on 2017/09/27 03:33
I've had great experience with the functionality but on two occasions I needed customer support and had horrible experiences. First attempt I was given a 'ticket' which is what I assume to give me a sense of security but the emails were 3-5 hours in response and I ended up solving the problem on my own. Today I called and had to deal with someone who sounded like the rapper who sang Hotstepper. He was rude and refused to give be me his name. Here I sit again waiting for email responses of links how to solve my problem. The same links I reviewed before I reached out. Horrible. My issue is not complicated. My badge no longer appears even though my computer meets all of the criteria for it to be active.
What a SCAM!
by there are no nicknames available!!! on 2017/11/28 18:28
Someone sent me a video that you needed Dropbox to view. I got the “free” 30 day trial. It now seems impossible to cancel. I followed the Dropbox website instructions which ran me around in a circle. I tried the instruction from the App Store and it doesn’t work either. When you get to the subscriptions link, Dropbox shows up, but you have to choose one of the packages, and clicking on the free one that I have does nothing. I believe they’re trying to trick users into signing up for a paid version just so that they have the opportunity to cancel it. This will probably result in a charge. I’m sooooo mad that I got the stupid “free” trial! They sent me an email saying they are charging my credit card. I’m frustrated with this process! Don’t get this app.
Best file sharing app out there
by Jdhdjagfkegdogheogheobhwfjsnvo on 2017/10/09 18:57
Original downloaded to sync files between my Google Drive and Laptop, I soon realized its power. I promptly downloaded it to my school computer and downloaded it to my phone. I have used it for a while now and have put many files on it so I can access them across all my devices. My favorite feature is that it integrates perfectly with Drive, Files, and Office. It makes everything so universal. I would recommend it to anyone with access to multiple devices.
Great App! Needs Refinement.
by NKurtjian on 2017/10/15 23:16
Dropbox for me is essential - and the app with its new iOS integration is a great step forward for productivity on the iPad. However, there feels to be more work required to make doing simple tasks more reliable. For example working in PDFs located on Dropbox through the Files app is a bit clumsy and often causes the file to crash and reset/reopen at page 1 without saving any mark-ups, highlights, etc. made. Not sure if this is an iOS or Dropbox app issue but if this were to be resolved it would make this a 5 star experience for sure.
iPad truncated file names
by anseldog on 2018/01/08 18:29
I have contacted Dropbox about this problem for several years.
Dropbox!!!
by Big Fan of LM's work on 2018/01/06 03:43
As a business owner and college student- Dropbox is essential! 🙏🏼
My go to for storage!
by thisisbritt on 2017/09/25 23:27
I love Dropbox, it stores all of my photos and things so I’ve got a nice and secure back up. One thing about the app, though, that I’d like to suggest: the newer iPhones do the live photos which makes the photos a different file format. When backing them up through Dropbox, there’s an option to upload them as a jpg or the Live Photo format (heic I think?). It would be great if there was an option to upload as both formats, too.
Works pretty well, but recent update needs work
by FeelinSatisfied on 2017/11/13 22:31
App works pretty well, is intuitive, and has good features, but a recent update has broken the progress bar when uploading files. Before the update there was a progress bar to show the status of files as they were saved from the safari browser and another to show the upload progress. After the update the upload progress no longer displays on screen but the save status still works. Using iPhone 8 Plus with latest iOS version.
Normally 5 but this glitch is STUPID!
by SenseOfHuber on 2017/09/27 08:41
I pay for more storage on Dropbox and refer Dropbox to everyone — BUT on the most recent update, I noticed my pictures hadn’t been uploading automatically. Apparently my “background uploading” had been turned off. I’ve seen reauthorized the location settings and turned background uploading back on... but then what do I see again?! Pics aren’t uploading. I’ve had to repeat these steps FIVE times in the last 2 days. If I close the app at all, it automatically turns that setting back off. PLEASE FIX THIS BEFORE I GO INSANE!!!
Bad
by RealCool137 on 2017/10/02 02:02
Ever since the update I searched my videos and can’t fine many of them before the update I had 1989 now all I see is 1000 if I login on the website I get 1400 but I didn’t delete any of the other videos I paid for a 1 TB plan why did I do so many videos I’m terribly disappointed this service used to be good but not anymore my recommendations is please fix the problems so that you have a great service like before and I want my videos back some of them were in replaceable videos of a family member that passed away I have no way of recovering theses and that’s the reason why I paid for the service so I don’t lose the videos and it still happens 😭
Breaks Excel files -- zoomed way out
by Oncle J on 2017/11/03 05:38
Ever since the update, Dropbox has messed up viewing of my Excel files (yes, mainly the one with all my passwords! :-). Dropbox ignores the actual column widths I've set in the files, and instead expands each column width to fit the widest data of any row in that column. This causes all columns to get much wider than necessary. The result is the entire spreadsheet is zoomed way out, making the text size super small and most rows are left with heaps of blank space. I've contacted Dropbox, but they don't reply. UPDATE: DP has contacted me by email and asked for details of this issue.
Thank you immensely and have a fantastic christmas!
iPhone 8 location services fail
by Mimo on the wall on 2017/10/01 05:40
Ever since upgrading to iPhone 8 plus, my location services and background refresh is not working correctly. When I enable background uploading, this only stays enabled temporarily. I checked settings-> Dropbox and background upload is on after enabling in the app. When I check setting -> privacy -> Dropbox it has nothing selected and when I go in, the only setting is “never”. I select never and the other settings appear, then I set it to always. This stays like this for maybe 5 minutes and then reverts back to nothing selected and only never as an option. Is there a fix or am I missing something?
Best back up/storage/file & photo organizing, saving, & archiving app available for years!!!
by Dennis M. Ahern on 2017/09/15 04:37
Dropbox is a vault where I feel safe putting even my most precious documents and photos. I can organize, review, and reorganize all of my memories in a safe enironment. I would highly recommend Dropbox to anyone looking for space to keep everything and then organize and copy and save all your hard work. Dropbox is my ace in the hole!!!
App freezes since upgrade to iOS 11
by Hamlinfan on 2017/11/07 13:48
I love this app. It’s very user-friendly and a couple more nths ago would have given it 5 stars! However, since I upgraded to iOS 11, it freezes almost every time I open a file and won’t go back to my file list. I have closed the app and reopened it but it opens to the same place. I just tried updating the app and the update even froze and won’t finish!! The only way to fix it is to delete the app and download it again!! Please fix this!!! I need to be able to get to my files.
Please reverse your bad decision!
by Ssjsm on 2017/10/27 20:29
Oct 27, 2017 Second time Dropbox took away key features... I realized my photos were not longer syncing to Dropbox. I opened the app to find out that the ability to upload photos is NOT supported in this version. I updated the app - same thing. Why did they take it away? Why did they not tell me? I pay every month for this “service”. Time to find another solution. 2016 First time they mistreated me... Dropbox worked well and Carousel was an excellent app for pictures. If you want to consolidate to one app, fine, but not at your customer's expense. Port the key functions of Carousel to Dropbox and then shut down the Carousel app. Shutting down Carousel before building Dropbox to properly take its place gets your customers upset (go figure). Why should I continue to pay $10 a month for reduced services, especially with so many free options on the table. Please restore Carousel or get the functionality (free up space on iPhone, timeline scroll, albums, etc.) into Dropbox!
Just awful
by phmokda on 2017/11/15 13:43
Due to family pressure I dropped $99 for Dropbox premium. Since >90% of my on-line work is on mobile devices I rely heavily on this app. That’s too bad because it stinks. For example I can’t create a new folder on my iPad so I have to go to my desktop iMac. Then I have a news article I want to clip and save to my Politics folder. I forward it and an old folder for Fishing pops up. No problem-I choose change folders and tap Politics and climate change pops up>problem. In comparison I was able to save it to basic Evernote app, albeit without a folder heading, in about 10 seconds.
read if you’re running out of storage!
by coolgamedood on 2017/12/17 22:25
This version broke the Files app usability
by Omegajvn1 on 2017/09/24 03:22
The app is great! HOWEVER, this was suppose to be the version to better work with iOS 11, which it doesn't. Within the Files app, user can not access files if Dropbox has a passcode enabled on it, let alone Touch ID. The previous version, would simply prompt to authenticate with Touch ID *within* the Files app, and user could access their files. Disappointing this update took that away when One Drive can do it all already without leaving Files app.
Home tab and star folder features gone missing
by Prodigyj on 2017/09/20 15:19
A couple of versions prior to this, Dropbox introduced the Home tab and Star folder features. Those were great! But for some odd reason, they’ve removed those features without noting their removals on the Release Notes. I chatted with Dropbox Plus support and they said it’s a temporary removal due to iOS 11 compatibility issues — but I noticed the feature-removals while on iOS 10. What gives? Unfortunately, Dropbox does not offer phone support, so it’s very difficult to do troubleshooting.
I used to love this app...
by ZeroxShock on 2017/10/30 00:52
I used to love this app, because I do a lot of writing and save it to my Dropbox so that nothing gets lost. For weeks now my files haven't been updating on my app no matter what I do. I've tried deleting and reinstalling. I even tried to see if it was something with a connection to my laptop. Apparently I'm not the only one having this issue, because a friend that I share a folder with is having the same issue. Perhaps instead of making a new app icon, they could look into the glitches that are going on.
Great App!!
by Ftooley77 on 2017/10/26 23:55
Great App, been using it for a long time, have gotten many friends to use it! Only issue I have with current release is that when I used to email gifs it would show the whole gif in the email, now it only generates a link, I do not want to share links to my stuff with anyone! I should be able to send whatever I want pictures included without only generating a link! Update: New update says you can remove recents from home screen, yet this option is not in setting like stated. Still doesn’t allow you to turn off recents, even thou they blatantly lie and say you can in the notes!
Could be 6 Stars
by Pit Bull 1973 on 2017/10/04 11:41
The problem with Drop is it doesn’t have a saved feature that can be synced. I have a lot of times when my cellular service is out and I can not access my Dropbox and view items I need to see. If there was a way to sync the information and view it anytime with or without cellular service that would be great.
Poorly designed app
by yogo jomi on 2017/11/09 16:59
Low functionality of app. Dropbox is a great service but for some reason their app and website cannot figure out how to make an app. There’s no page search function, so you have to scroll through thousands of pages to find your page on a document. The slider bar is on the edge of the screen so half of the time you are accidentally hitting the slider and zipping through thousands of pages and then you have to search for your page all over again. Finally decided to write this review after being frustrated with their app for long enough.
Excel files not viewable with latest update.
by joesouljah on 2017/11/05 00:27
I’ve been using Dropbox for a very long time and access excel spreadsheets via drop app on iOS 10.0.2 for a while. Recently updated to IOS 11.1 and everything was still good until I updated the latest Dropbox update; now when ever I attempt to open an excel file the app just freezes. I’ve already deleted and reinstalled the app but still with no success. Some what frustrating and taking away from production.
Works great!
by TheRealMegabustr on 2017/11/14 20:26
I first used dropbox about a year ago and it sucked. Didn’t synch to my computer to save files properly. Now I’ve tried it again recently and it works as it should. It gets photos from my phone to desktop quickly and easily and vice versa. It’s easy to use with folders to organize and I can share videos and documents with friends. Great app for anyone who wants to upgrade from cloud.
Improvements
by I am cheese on the app on 2017/10/05 05:10
I have and will always love Dropbox but I do think their app could see a few improvements such as a better and faster method to moving files, a sort of less plain look I guess, and I reeaaallllyyy miss that feature from their old carousel app that would let you see pics from the same day a year ago which was a feature that I thought was very enjoyable
It’s pretty good
by Cool-dude5 on 2017/11/06 22:25
I use this app to listen to music on my iPod and it’s the best app I’ve ever used to listen to music even though its not strictly a music app. There is just a few problems... 1)this app does not auto play to the next song, I feel like there should be an option for that. 2)on my iPod the scrubbing and next song and last song doesn’t work, I wish that worked. But other then that it is a great app.

Cache hoarding
by Jmac dude on 2018/01/10 03:47
Redesign is an improvement.

Not focused on consumer
by Fat Tribble on 2018/01/06 12:35
New features all seem focused on corporate users.

Ugly App Logo, Always out of space.

The app logo looks so ugly. Also running out of space way too fast.
Easy peasy!
by Misselly84 on 2018/01/01 07:07
Simple way to connect my work and home docs. Wish it had more free space though.

Dropbox is a great utility but the app constantly crashes for no apparent reason
Love having all my files at my fingertips
by TechForLife on 2017/12/31 18:03
Thank you! Only suggestion would be to make it easier to batch download images to my phone. One at a time is very time consuming.
Hasn’t aged well
by jinca19 on 2017/12/30 19:02
Used to be good, recent changes are not intuitive and borderline unusable. Normally get frustrated and grab my Mac. Shame that I’m honestly considering moving everything to OneDrive.
Horrible
by Ps-- on 2017/12/30 08:12
Very hard to control the cursor when editing text files.
SPAM
by mlrose529 on 2017/12/29 22:03
Get your spam and unasked for crap off of my directory page. After years of business I’m very seriously considering scrapping every trace of Dropbox. Just so I never have to deal with your incessant spam again.
It’s okay I guess
by YourMom7284 on 2017/12/29 15:25

GARBAGE
by operababy4life on 2017/12/28 06:26
This app is the biggest POS I have ever come across. We pay for the terabyte plan and we can’t even get 2 simple videos to upload. We have spent countless hours trying to resolve this. We’re getting a refund because this is bull. Stay away and find something else.

Slowwwwww
by raviapps4 on 2017/12/27 21:21
This is the slowest storage app out there.

DO NOT rely on Dropbox for iOS, it will disappoint you.

Poor iOS 11 support

Video issue
by Reiner360 on 2017/12/14 22:04
Since the latest Dropbox update, when I download and then save videos from my iPhone to my laptop, I am only able hear the video on my computer.
Lousy. Worthless. Harmful.

Dropbox!!!
by Big Fan of LM's work on 2018/01/06 03:43
As a business owner and college student- Dropbox is essential!
Thank you immensely and have a fantastic christmas!
iPhone 8 location services fail
by Mimo on the wall on 2017/10/01 05:40
Ever since upgrading to iPhone 8 plus, my location services and background refresh is not working correctly.
In comparison I was able to save it to basic Evernote app, albeit without a folder heading, in about 10 seconds.
read if you’re running out of storage!
by coolgamedood on 2017/12/17 22:25
