Why

Hello Dropbox Why can’t I download directly to my iPhone?
Used to be a great app
by Dragonjvn on 2018/06/20 14:21
This app no longer works with the PDF Max Pro app. Now I will have to move everything to Google Docs. Why wouldn’t Dropbox update the app to continuing working with other apps.
Fantastic app!

Dropbox is simply amazing !
Long time user
by tcne on 2018/06/19 21:41
While in app - With a recent update it is far to easy when scrolling to put a folder into another folder by mistake. This causes problems and didn’t happen awhile back. Please look into changing back.
Doesn’t work well. Broken support for share-to and drag-drop
by A902450928543 on 2018/06/19 20:09
Drag-and-dropping files from the Files app into the Dropbox app (you know, to upload something) doesn’t work. The file just disappears. Also, the share-to extension menu crashes too. This means that you can’t send a file to Dropbox from another app either. The only way to upload to Dropbox now is to either use the in-app uploader (which isn’t that great for access) or to use a third-party app that you’ve linked to Dropbox, and upload from inside that third-party app. Here’s hoping the devs see this. Hope it helps. Love the app otherwise!
App frequently will not open
by OhhhDave on 2018/06/19 09:39
App will open about 1 out of 10 attempts. Have to keep rebooting device and hope that it opens.... App frequently will not open when saving photo to pdf through the print option iOS 11.4 iPhone 6
Reader Mode and Editor Mode
by Ester131106 on 2018/06/19 05:49
I really want to know if there is any possibility to have a Reader Mode Option. While I am reading file through Dropbox, I always miss-touch the edit icon. If there will have a reader mode and editor mode option, it would be great!!!
Fraud
by Treeshaker0004 on 2018/06/18 11:44
Wife used drop box now for about two months. It as taken over 4 months to cancel the subscription which they are still charging us for. Only option left is to cancel the card number they are pulling it from. DO NOT BUY!!!!
The best storage device.
by Coucill on 2018/06/17 19:57
I keep photo files and documents that I can’t afford to loose on this. It gives me peace of mind and access across my devices. I depend on it.
Ripoff
by dcdetector on 2018/06/17 01:49
Did a search for cloud storage and Dropbox was in the list. Just clicked to look at the info and was hacked. Mining software that charged my credit card, which I never entered the info, $45. I tried to contact them only to find out they have no legitimate contact info. It just runs in circles. That was a month ago. This morning I get an email on an account I don’t use for my phone saying thank you for renewing your Dropbox account and charged my card another $45
New Features
by wvvyX on 2018/06/14 20:56
You guys need to add better features for audio files. I want to be able to have a section for my downloaded audio files and be able to play the song on repeat for that one song and be able to skip to the next song as well. It’s very limited and annoying that I have to swipe up every time and press play once the track has finished so it can replay again.
New Dropbox and new phones

With the new iPhone 6.5and surface foldable phones and tablets Dropbox will be a hot item for every thing the bigger and faster items people want secure all in one place and storage that easy to use .I can see your phone and important bills going only to drop box someday,
Does not Save to designated Folder
by beangroovy2 on 2018/06/13 21:40
Can’t find docs in the Folder I moved them to. No ability to rename PDFs, eg, 1254ZXC-298-DRMKL-667 is a typical example of how some files are saved as, which makes the Search option irrelevant!! Please improve.

This app does the best job of changing and saving documents and photographs across all ur devices and on the DB cloud server. Never lose sleep over a system melt down again.

Almost all my pictures got deleted when the app updated and it is very difficult to contact them.
Still no Live Photos support for Camera Backup
by Jazz Thompson on 2018/06/13 18:05
Dropbox is a reliable and great product for syncing but I have been asking them for years to enable the backing up of Live Photos and the feature just never appears. I would be so happy if they used my feedback to make this improvement. Google Photos does it, so I would imagine that Dropbox could offer this feature as well.

by Coral cake on 2018/06/13 02:40
I am not literate on a computer, and you make all these changes and I do not understand what is going on, so do not avail myself of all the things that can be done. You really should have some simple way of explaining the changes you make and how to benefit from them
More fluidity
by The Rhythmist on 2018/06/12 23:08
As the title suggests, the app could benefit from more fluidity while scrolling and skipping through images etc. (I'm using an iPad Pro so it's definitely the apps fault). Otherwise it's very good.

Photo upload issues
by Cheerioboy25 on 2018/06/12 20:24
Dropbox for whatever reason decided to use 5+ gigs of cellular data which I can only assume was from camera uploads. Dropbox support was non existent and now I’m $40 poorer from cellular data overage charges. First time I’ve had a problem like this in 10 years, pCloud and other photo backup apps haven’t had this issue.. I’ll be looking to switch to another service now
My favorite app!
by Gammy na on 2018/06/12 02:19
I use Dropbox for all of my recipes. I have it on all my devices. At the grocery store and need ingredients for one of my recipes? I got it on my phone!!!! Many of my friends use this app to share recipes. It is also interactive with other apps. This is my favorite third part app!!!
Pretty good
by Johnny666x on 2018/06/12 01:53
Still overpriced for wha you get. Wish the experience was as clean as google photos is for the photos. Files are ok. Decent iOS integration.
Trash
by 180patsyhegoat01 on 2018/06/11 19:48
I found it very inconvenient. It wouldn’t take the email and password to sign in that I have used for years. With prior experience it is very tedious to do anything involving saving and sending files.😡

Capricious
by me1112112 on 2018/06/11 03:11
Very capricious, won't open many of the types of files that I use, so ends up being unreliable and not very usable. This feedback dialog is an example of Dropbox user friendliness: I couldn't find a way to send it and luckily a Dropbox person was next to me, and I asked him and he told me I had to fill in the title. Well, indicate it with a red star or something! Geez....,
Slower Than DIRT!
by rod.musselman on 2018/06/10 18:08
With over 22,000 photos on my 128GB Apple iPhone 6s, now running iOS 11.4, I now have about 18 hours into my first backup, with just over 6,000 photos remaining. If my home Wi-Fi backups are this slow, a restore won’t be any faster. No thanks! I will continue with Google Photos, etc.
My go too solution!
by Phelo47 on 2018/06/10 16:28
Love the access to my data. I dj so having access to my music and sharing my mixes is essential in growing my brand. Dropbox provides the ability for me too do so. Only option I would like is the ability to play more than one file at a time....essentially build playlist.

by Saywhy on 2018/06/10 15:52
I have been using for years now without worry of being someplace in some meeting without necessary information. Does not matter which of the 3 computers am or am not using information is available by signing in, whether using Windows or IOS. Love having documents available offline; planning for meeting in places without internet access.

Lame commenting/activity function.
by TweakRacer on 2018/06/10 10:27
The commenting/activity box at the bottom is useless for me, and blocks the bottom portion of image files when in landscape orientation, or when zoomed in on portrait orientation. Why is there no way to get rid of it? I'm not sharing that image, nor collaborating on it, and am the only one with access to it. WTH? And even though I'm signed into the app, if I go to settings, help, contact support... I need to sign in again? WTH?
Excellent
by plcman1914 on 2018/06/09 21:48
I have been a Dropbox user for many years. Many excellent features. One is the multiple backups to a file. That saved a very important file that crashed. Went to the file on Dropbox chose the backup prior to crash and was restored. Saved a panic attack.

This app used to be great
by preferprivacy on 2018/06/09 01:33
Now it doesn’t properly upload photos. I’ve talked to their “support” many times and they basically throw their hands up and blame Apple. Google Photos is a lot better. And more powerful.

by ESLAA33 on 2018/06/07 09:02

Almost Perfect...
by ColtsFanJQ on 2018/06/07 03:17
Everything about the Dropbox app just works. It’s great. I’d love to see more functions added to the player for audio files (a repeat button, skip forward/backward 15 seconds, etc.). I hope they add this in future updates or even a paid version.
It’s painful to move files to diff folders
by Muki Regunathan on 2018/06/06 22:37
It is so hard to move files from one folder to the other. On top of that I can see only five selected folders and then it keeps changing every time if I have more folders then I need to do so many clicks to copy in my case I have more than 10 folders it’s really painful. Your algorithm is not working well in terms Self learning.

Great app! But allow hidden folders?
by canyonhunter1 on 2018/06/05 22:01
Dropbox is hands down amazing. I love the compatibility between devices, but it would be awesome if you could make folders hidden, maybe with a passcode? So that I’m the photos tab, not EVERYTHING is visible. Thank you!
Okay...
by SwordInTheLight on 2018/06/05 19:39
Hello, I just wanted to say that Dropbox is actually a really great place to store Office files, sorry if I was harsh earlier. I wouldn’t trust it with all of your files, because I’ve had a lot of issues with the iWork things and all that. The app itself works fine this way. Just wanted to say that. Suggestions: -Maybe we can do a one-time payment for a little extra storage? Like pay $1 for 2 extra gigs. I would definitely pay a few dollars for that. -Support for Apple files. As I’m writing this, there’s no way to edit Pages/Numbers/Keynote files from Dropbox. I use Pages a lot and so do a lot of other people, so you need to add support for those. -Once, I opened the Dropbox app and found that it wouldn’t let me create any Office files. (Like when I clicked “new file,” the option for creating Office files wasn’t there.) I signed out of Dropbox and tried to sign back in, but it said “there was an error” when I tried to sign in even though I got the sign-in info correct! This wasn’t a huge deal since I was able to log back in a half hour later with the create files feature back, but you might want to make sure it doesn’t happen again. -PowerPoint files take FOREVER to load up! (At least for me they do.) Please make it quicker. Thank you for reading!!!

New update has ruined app!!
by arcane16 on 2018/06/04 01:23
Dropbox used to be easier that I could attach my files in an email and download + open the file to my mobile phone. But this new ridiculous update has removed the easy attach file/download feature unless I upgrade to dropbox pro; which I can't afford. So angry I'm uninstalling this app!!!!!!
Please fix the problem
by D.James.E on 2018/06/04 01:09
I use Dropbox for numerous things online, both business related and personal. In all circumstances I need to be able to interact with people on shared documents and the most recent update has made that impossible for some reason on my iPad. I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem so it should probably be fixed right away. If not people like me will have to find other programs to use. That aside, before the problem occurred Dropbox was my go to on all of my devices. I sincerely hope this problem gets fixed.

iPad version screen real estate
by dorian-cane on 2018/05/31 14:42
The latest version of the iPad app does not handle documents well in full screen mode. The comments section obscures parts of my documents. I am a songwriter/musician and I use Dropbox to show my lead sheets. I have them all formatted to fit the screen perfectly. Now with the HUGE comments section, I have scroll like a half an inch. I’d be fine with zooming out but that doesn’t really work. What happened? Please fix....I’d be happy to show a developer what I’m talking about. It’s very frustrating.

by BofromKansas! on 2018/05/31 14:19
Hands down this is a great app! It's about the only storage app out here that will let you copy a video back to your camera roll VERY quickly. Very nice looking interface and easy to label and organize files and albums. I like to use this app to play my homemade videos offline smoothly and without interruption. This app would also be great for those of you wanting to conserve data each month. However, there is one little glitch. My video is centered just fine when the controls are displayed (volume, pause, play ect.) When I tap the screen once (or twice) to hide the controls for viewing, the video moves upward putting some of the video out of bounds at the top. Other than that, DB is the best storage app out here. Please help :)

DropBox is great. This App is not.
by Saltp1 on 2018/05/30 00:08
I use Dropbox every day, and love it. But this app is lacking: poorly designed, hard to get around confusing. The only thing that makes Dropbox usable on iOS is, somewhat ironically, Apple’s cloud aggregator app, Files. It’s far easier to access Dropbox files from there.
Single best sync tool available
by IpsissimusMarr on 2018/05/29 23:28

There are a lot of cloud-based storage systems on the market. Every application want to force there’s a Ponyo. But the one that works best across the platforms are use his dropbox. It’s the most easily organized, accessible, and shareable. And it works for all of my multiple lives in helping them work seamlessly but separately.
Dropbox is just awesome!

Dropbox keeps me well organized with all types of data by allowing me to sort them out into files & folders. It also allows me to share with others selected data, files, folders or all of it and even to allow others to make changes to selected or all data. Furthermore it allows one to share large files & folders. Dropbox is just AWESOME! I can’t wait for the next improvements to come by!
Documents On The Go
by Fan L33 on 2018/05/27 02:07
Always there, online, offline, moving documents from one platform to another, Dropbox is your quick, easy, no fuss solution. It’s one of the cleanest layouts ever created (in my opinion). I would defiantly suggest giving Dropbox a try for anyone going to school or working in business. Other platforms exist such as google docs, or Microsoft office, which I also use, but Dropbox has them beat in speed of upload and download, and loading of page, AND ease of navigation.

Love Dropbox, But Less and Less w/ Time
by Hernando Conwi on 2018/05/26 12:57
The old Dropbox was magnificent in its simplicity but like all programs, gets bloated and messy as its management overthinks it and adds features and complexity. Particularly irksome is this relatively new feature of cluttering up the screen with all your recently added files before you can get to your main folder. Why, Dropbox, why? Just let me get to my folders, please, without having to scroll down. :-(

After using this app for a brief time, I have found myself wanting to go back to the web interface - and for only one main reason. Photo thumbnails. There don't seem to be any! Unfortunately for me, someone who takes a large number of photos and stores them in his dropbox, this poses a problem which the web interface doesn't have. The ability to view image thumbnails seems like a no-brainer to me. I'm really disappointed that this functionality appears to be missing. The app itself works fine, it does what it says, and I LOVE the ability to send off my photos and videos from anywhere to my computers at home. Major bonus points for that one Dropbox! However, for browsing files, I think I'll be sticking with the web app - at least until photo thumbnails are integrated. It makes it difficult to browse for the photos I'm looking for without them. In addition, it seems a lot of basic functionality of managing files within your dropbox are missing. After reading over their "to do" list, it seems like these things are planned for future revisions - no mention of photo thumbnails, though! Overall, A good start to an app that holds a lot of promise. Unfortunately I can't rate it 5 stars until I can happily delete the shortcut to the web interface from my home screen. If I have to use both, it isn't fulfilling all the needs it should be. It has a lot of room to grow, but the initial release is well worth picking up.
Incredible app!
by MoNfluenZ on 2016/12/07 21:23
With the world of cloud storage options being so large and growing every day, Dropbox is the standard by which to measure other apps, and I say just apps because it is a standout not only in cloud storage but as an app in general. That being said, my one negative thing to say is that I think the price for a solo user is too high. When I can get 50 GB of iCloud storage for 99 cents a month, and my Adobe Creative Cloud just flat out over triples my cloud storage for free when I called to see about paying for more storage all because I'm a good customer on a regular payment plan. It leaves me in the unfortunate world of a free account Dropbox customer, and I find that depressing because it limits my use of Dropbox and means I'm not financially contributing to what I consider one of the best and most useful apps on the market. If I could offer a suggestion, I feel stupid for assuming I could actually have advice to offer such a forward thinking brand, I would suggest Dropbox look into lower priced plans. Maybe these plans offer limited capabilities or space (For my use a 50GB storage option would be ideal) but another $10 a month auto payment is just too much. Maybe we could pick and choose which features or capabilities we want our Dropbox to have and pay accordingly. Just food for thought for a thoughtful company from a non paying user who wants to be a paying user.
Safest online storage for my writing - w/ Elements it works perfect for me
by ...S.B on 2013/04/19 01:03
It seems that Dropbox is the only online storage server whose user agreement states that Dropbox employees are forbidden from looking at your content, i.e. what's inside your documents, pix, &tc. By contrast, the Google user agreement states they can look through your stuff, use it however they want - that you agree it's cool with you so long as they don't claim ownership. Apple user agreements for online storage have always been vague legalese, so you don't know what they'll do. For my money, that means I'll store in Dropbox & nowhere else until I learn that Apple or Google respects the private sanctity of my stuff a lot more than they do now. As far as using the app, I've a big-screen iMac, an iPhone 5 & an iPad mini. I use a separate linked app, Elements, to write notes & documents into Dropbox on the fly. Some time ago, there were some glitches accessing everything equally on all 3 devices, but the Dropbox & Element developers seem to have cleared all that up. Lately anything I've ever written into Dropbox by way of Elements has been immediately accessible on all 3 devices, so for me it works perfectly. I guess this is kind of a review for Elements also, which I should go & write a review there too. Beyond that, I've shared photos & mp3s easily many times. No complaints.
Awesome embedded "Save to Dropbox" feature on iPhone & iPad!!!
by Angelo Review on 2017/04/26 21:20
I honestly had never used Dropbox until I found the "Save to Dropbox" feature on my iPhone and iPad. Now I love it! You can save the site you are looking at as a PDF file to your Dropbox account from the web browser. You have to have the Dropbox app on your phone and a Dropbox account of course. You will also need to turn the "Save to Dropbox" selection on through web browser settings. It's in the same area you go to print or bookmark a web page. If you don't see it make sure you have the Dropbox app on the device you are using and when going to the area where you would bookmark scroll all the way to the right and there should be a button to select more. It will save the web page to your Dropbox account when you select "Save to Dropbox". Then you can open the Dropbox app and your file with load in as a PDF and you can even continue to save it offline to your device if you wish. Great feature! Just a word of warning, it will save exactly what is displayed on the web page at the time you save it. Meaning, if images aren't loaded for instance, then it will save the page with those images not loaded. Hope this helps!
Dropped In Just In Time
by dj22091 on 2009/10/03 19:16
I ended up downloading this because of the hype. I read from a few places that this new Dropbox app was something to have, and sure enough it is. I've been using Air Sharing for the longest time, mainly because of my school work. When I had a Powerpoint or Word Document to read I'd end up putting it in a folder to view later on the go. The only problem was connecting it to my iMac. There were a lot of different ways to connect Air Sharing to my computer, and while some did work, the majority did not. Dropbox, however, is a different story. I was skeptical at first, but after a few minutes I found that it is really easy to sync Powerpoints and the like to my phone. Just had to install the Dropbox application on my iPhone and my iMac and I was good to go. Now viewing these files over a Wi-Fi or 3G connection had me worried, considering that I may have to wait quite a while to view a Powerpoint at last notice. My worries faded when I saw that you were able to actually downlaod a file to your phone just by adding it as a favorite. It seems everything I had a question for was answered! Truly an awesome app that I will be getting much use out of.
Wouldn’t use if I didn’t have to.
by Jason 909 on 2017/10/10 18:55
A few weeks ago my office switched our mobile cloud storage option to Dropbox, blocking access to iCloud and other services. I’ve been stuck using it ever since, and I have been thoroughly unimpressed. I enjoy chances to try new tech and new services, and was prepared to be blown away, but Dropbox seems more interested in “building a brand” and slapping pretty colors on things than it is in building a solid product for iOS. Dropbox took a week to release the iOS 11-“optimized” version of its app, while other services had their apps live *before* iOS 11 even went live. 11 has been out for how long now, yet we’re still waiting for drag-and-drop support for moving files around in-app. Now, weeks later, I just downloaded the “splashy” new update hoping this functionality would be there, but it appears to consist solely of bug fixes and a revised app icon. The updated app visuals that are supposed to make my mundane daily file interactions “extraordinary” are so subtle that I don’t notice them. Here’s what would be extraordinary: update the app to take advantage of all of iOS 11’s new productivity capabilities. That would be a far more profound app update—and rebranding—than what Dropbox appears committed to doing.
LOVED Carousel...
by marsanchez02 on 2016/04/05 22:05
Carousel was the best app to happen to my phone. When they took it off, I was SUPER disappointed. I never liked using Dropbox itself bc of the terrible layout. Carousel helped delete photos off my phone to open up storage and now I'm scared to delete pictures off my phone because I'm not really sure it's gonna stay on Dropbox. Carousel had a beautiful layout where I could easily find any picture I wanted and it had flashbacks which were always cute to look at what you did the year before. I'm so used to pressing and holding to select multiple pictures. It was super easy to use and I loved it to the moon and back. Dropbox, however, I don't like and I'm not used to. The layout is bad and makes me feel claustrophobic. I never used this app when I had Carousel. NEVER. Dropbox doesn't remove photos from my phone that are safely stored, so yes I'm scared to manually delete them myself. I just don't like using it at all... Carousel was my life when I had it and my favorite app to use. Why did y'all have to shut it down?? If you want to keep your customers, PLEASE put back the Carousel features!! Very sad member. :( Pros- useful to access photos from any computer or device. Cons- basically what I wrote as a mini rant novel :(
MS Outlook Integration Problems
by The Reviewer on 2018/03/06 18:20
I use my iPad Pro constantly for workflow production with Dropbox and MS Outlook. I also have some other file storage accounts linked to my MS Outlook but I would prefer not to... But I have to because the Outlook app will not allow me to insert a file from within the app from a Dropbox location. This. Is. Crippling. I cannot overstate how much of a problem this is for me, daily. I often need to reply to emails and insert modified documents but utilizing Dropbox as my storage venue for those documents prevents me from doing so. I have to export the file FROM Dropbox and place it on a different service (such as google storage or other) and then insert it from there. I’ve paid for storage on Dropbox for a couple years now and I think this will have to be the last year if this issue does not get worked out. I realize Dropbox may not in control of how Outlook handles attachments from the Dropbox service but regardless I may not be able to continue with Dropbox if the issue isn’t resolved. Starting a new email from within Dropbox to simply send a file doesn’t work for me and frankly, I feel I shouldn’t have to come up with another workaround to make the system work the way it should already.
Business users get the shaft
by Jayrodathome on 2014/09/10 22:46
I'm beyond frustrated with dropbox per their current model. Prior to a recent change in their service I had 30+ business accounts on a dropbox team. Storage wasn't an issue. They to date have given us 32tb of space to use between my employees. One of the most anticipated features was the camera upload. My company has many field employees who take pictures of work in the field. This feature would automatically add the photos from camera roll to their dropbox account for easy sharing and would send the pictures directly to their laptop on the camera upload feature. Now Dropbox requires you to have a second account (personal account) attached to the app in order to use this feature. None of the employees in my company have use for Dropbox outside of work. Now we are forced to pay for more additional storage through iCloud In order to store and share photos. Along with retraining everyone on how to use another system. I'm currently researching an alternative to Dropbox that is more business friendly. My requests to Dropbox support left them unable to work with me on the matter. Going to give them one more chance.
Not a Fan of Newest Update
by Fairfax14 on 2016/05/27 17:55
I depend on Dropbox everyday to get my work done and in general it does a fantastic job. However, this newest update makes sharing and saving files a massive hassle. In all past versions, you used to be able to just tap "Share Link" and a link would be automatically generated. Now you have to jump through the hoops of a dialogue box just to create something so simple. Please Dropbox—get rid of this annoyance and make it easy, like it is on the Mac and like it used to be! Also - it's really hard to figure out how to just download a photo to your phone now. You click the download button with the phone icon, but it doesn't show up in your "photos." Instead, I have to click on the random [...] button, then click SHARE VIA..., then click SAVE IMAGE. Again, too many hoops! Why don't you just bring back the share button—like every other app on iOS? Why is it hidden behind that inane and meaningless [...] button? There's plenty of space. I think the Dropbox team is trying to add features and that's great—but don't get in the way of usability and discoverability. Please! Make things simple again.
update is exactly what I asked for
by Ben HT on 2010/03/01 23:17
I downloaded Dropbox the first day it came out, but I noticed that it lacked some crucial features so I sent them an email with feedback. The previous version did not have the user controls while viewing a document in landscape mode so I had to switch back to portrait just to quit out of the document. There was also no fast scrolling. This version has all of that and I am glad that they actually listened to our feedback. They also added recall last-viewed document at start up, which I never thought of, and it is great because I sometimes go to Notes to write something down and then go back to the document to continue reading. I was previously torn between using Dropbox and AirSharing, but since I sync fewer than 2GB of data and I do not use most of the advanced features of AirSharing, I'm now consistently using Dropbox. Dropbox syncs so much easier and I already have it on all my computers. And of course it is FREE.
Newer and simpler
by iPBJ89 on 2012/12/16 04:35
This update is only making Dropbox even better. The simple redesign is fluid, the app loads faster, you can now submit file directly into any folder instead of going to the upload section to do so, create folders directly now and menu GUI is cleaner. I don't get the argument about the style change. I for one don't care about style or graphics as long as it looks fine enough. I don't pay to use apps or play games just because to look pretty with the graphical bandwagon. Its about the functionality and convenience and the new Dropbox update ensures that. The only few things missing is the sharing via other Dropbox accounts, "open in" integration, multiple file saves into the iPad memory, background/multitasking, renaming folders/files, more file type support like GIF and file sorting feature with multiple sorting options such as dates, file types, and names altogether. 4/5 stars so far for the improvement but still has room to grow with some missing crucial and basic features needed.
“Supposedly” works... give me a break.
by Axew3252005 Spor-Hernandez on 2017/11/08 01:07
I’ve used this app from the most complicated of jobs to as simple as a Minecraft™ world being downloaded, and every single time, whether it’s an audio file from Wikipedia or an audio file from GarageBand™, it will not save, and my account, it always says the password is wrong, no matter how many times I reset the password. Anybody who is smart and looks at the reviews of the app before downloading, I give you a warning, do not use! All the others who say that it’s awesome, probably haven’t found the better apps, so they deal with the intense crashing I forgot to mention. Can’t run it for more than 3 minutes without it crashing. Even got it on my phone, very first app I installed thinking that maybe it was storage space that was making the app crash, actually, that was kinda true. 7 minutes and 45 seconds (yes I timed it) without crashing. Do not use this app! Other people have reported being scammed, and then the developer shrugging their shoulders, even if they paid for the monthly plans. In fact, one person allegedly reported paying for the monthly plan, and getting charged for the annually plan. He is now behind on his bills.
Very useful for every type of user
by billc2455 on 2012/06/17 22:47
One of the first apps I have ever taken the time to write a review for...This app is incredible in its simplicity and usefulness. I have worked in IT for over 10 years and use it on all of my computers and mobile devices to share media, documents, and any other type of file almost immediately. I've recommended it to family and friends on several occasions and it has always been received positively, even from people that are not very IT savvy. I see several reviews about recent issues with the password protection feature, but since this is not a feature that I use (nor should most users ever require this functionality), I have continued to use this app for quite some time with zero problems. Setup is a breeze and from there it is simply drag and drop. The interface is extremely intuitive and easy to use for even the most novice user. Even more amazing is that it's completely free!
Totally Fails iPhone and Zero Support
by JungleNut on 2017/01/31 00:40
Update: it's been over a month and still no support. I've been a paying customer for years and every time I have an issue it takes longer and longer for support to respond to my help tickets. This time they have totally failed to respond as promised. I cannot upload simple videos from my iPhone anymore and after a week of waiting for what they said would be a "48 to 72 hour wait for paying customers" I have given up. My particular issue is NOT covered in the FAQ nor in the Forums. I will find a better cloud storage that actually cares about their paying customers enough to provide support. Btw, I have submitted two help tickets, one a week ago and one 72 hrs ago with no reply whatsoever. Each time I get a auto generated response saying for paying customers will receive a response within 48 to 72 hours. Don't waste your time with Dropbox. They have out grown their own capacity both in support and in ability to provide reliable service. Also why would a developer release an update without disclosing what "improvements" I'm downloading? So far the app just gets more unreliable with each update in my experience.
The app is UNUSABLE now!
by DPdesh92 on 2014/10/25 22:53
This app used to be 4-5 stars, but now it's a 1-star app until this issue gets fixed. The issue is that when I open the app, I get a pop-up window that says "Sign in to iTunes to enable push notifications." I have already signed in, so I click 'Ok,' which closes the pop-up, but it comes back with the same message after a second. It does this even when I hit 'Cancel.' The pop-up ends up blocking any other iPad functions other than the volume control or lock button. The only way to get back to home screen is to hit 'OK' or 'Cancel' and then hit the home button just in time before the pop-up returns. This makes the app completely unusable. I have been using the Dropbox in conjunction with a note-taking app for around 2 years now without a hitch for grad school. Now with this issue, I will need to move all my files to google drive and delete my Dropbox subscription. I'd have to do this in future anyways, I guess since dropbox gives me only ~6 GB right now, whereas I can get 30 GB on Google drive, which makes more sense for the long term. However, I liked the dropbox app UI better than that of Google Drive. Frustrating and unfortunate!
Terrible experience and awful customer service
by Jw8376384748 on 2016/12/09 12:27
What an absolutely terrible program an app! I purchase dropbox pro two months ago to upload my iPhone photos onto dropbox so that I could then transfer them to my computer. I have had only problems from the beginning. My photos would upload extremely slow and get stuck in stop uploading at all. I contacted customer service after a month and it has since been six weeks of back-and-forth emails with them and nothing is working still. They don't have phone customer service and will only email with you and the email every few days so it is an extremely drawn out frustrating process. None of their tips have helped and so I finally asked for a refund which they have refused. They actually refused a refund for a nonworking service where none of their tips are helping it to work properly. I asked repeatedly to speak with a manager and they said I couldn't do that. What business model runs this way?? A very unprofessional one! What an atrocity! I've never heard of anything like that before. I would never ever recommend anyone purchased dropbox pro or use the app. Terrible experience.
Best free app in the App Store
by Tiger0812 on 2010/06/02 21:24
This is one of the very few apps that actually worked from the time I installed it on my computer and iPad and iPhone and iPod. The iPad and iPhone versions integrates with each other from installatin. And when you change the files & folders in the Dropbox they sync with your other devices. It alos integrates with Air Sharing, PDF Reader Pro, Goodreader, Documentt Downloader, Notebooks, Print Bureau and DocsToGo among other business & productivy apps as well as a stand-along by itself. DocsToGo is the easiest and best file & folder transfer/sync app in the App Store. I have tried many other apps similar, but then discovered that the DocsToGo that I already owned was the best and easiest to use. You can also put files and folders from DocsToGo in a Dropbox folder. You can transfer files from Dropbox on the iPad/iPhone into the apps listed above. Everyone who transfers or syncs files between computers and Apple devices should have this app.
And still it doesn't work
by Bfrank4fr on 2012/04/26 15:21
Despite "Tech Support" giving me the same instructions over and over (why would it work the 5th time if not the first) I have to manually transfer files from laptop to iphone. Even if it's my fault or a problem with my phone or settings, surely the brilliant people at Dropbox could solve it in a different way...what's that saying the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results? I'm looking for a reco for a different app/program - even though I paid for the upgraded extra space - if I can't fill it up automatically - it's worth NOTHING to me! Shame on you Dropbox. Also there is no way to contact them - they just keep offering FAQs - you got too big too quickly and forgot customer service. Initially this was great - even with a glitch I got fast feedback and got that fixed. But now it will not sync so even when I try to manually set that up it doesn't. I don't know what the problem is - but David Pogue should re-evaluate this. Something is not right here. And tech support is not responding either. Oh well, perhaps their competitors will take this concept and improve upon it.
Fabulous App-just wish the audio player worked better
by roaming_abroad on 2015/10/07 09:05
This is a great App and a great company. Extremely easy to use and a most valuable way to a) collaborate, and b) keep critical files in a safe place. BUT how I wish DropBox would make the audio player work. We're collaborating on sharing audio files and we can't get the file to load onto the device to be available "offline." The App does not provide any feedback on whether the file is downloading. Say you're at 15 minutes into the audio and a) go back to say 7:00, everything ahead that was downloaded is instantly lost and it starts over again, and b) there's no precise way to move back to a specific part of the recording. The controls are too small, too imprecise. That's just. Wish list for an otherwise very very usual App. The website is actually much better developed when it comes to audio files--really wish the App could catch up.
Forget you Dropbox
by iPadReady on 2014/01/26 17:52
Yeah another one of these clown companies that forgot how many first edition iPads were sold, millions and yet now you see there is an updated but only for 7.0 iso iPads. First this behavior is one reason I will never but another iDevice, too short of life span, too, too, quick of hardware changes which the app writers are not willing to keep up. $850 for an iPad? Think again, not worth more than $150 no matter what the version based on the short life span of app updates.. This devices live off apps, no apps updates, you have a useless device. As for this app? Well if you like reinstalling, the older version of course, over and over, go for it. It seems to stop seeing the updates/changes to the network storage over time. I have given up trying to tell Dropbox to sort it, that triggers it to misbehave. It is like DropBox has a local index of what is stored, that is all it sees, the only way to get it to sync with the network storage is to delete the app and reinstall, over and over and over, until you get the idea and deleted it with no restore, telling DropBox to "Forget You" Gee, you start to depend on these apps then this crap.
Must for Dropbox Users
by Kevlar1 on 2014/03/18 02:05
There are several cloud options, and all have their own good and bad points, so it isn't worth recommending one cloud option over the others in this space. However, if you are a dropbox user, there is no reason why you shouldn't download this app. Other apps that use dropbox as cloud options relay to this app to allow their apps to be connected to dropbox, so you don't have to leave dropbox account name and password to each app. You feel more secure this way. Since iPad and iPhone don't have file systems, dropbox app more or less work as file manager for the system, making this app an essential for many users. However, there is one gripe that I always have over several years of using dropbox app. It doesn't allow me to rename files. You can delete, move files to another folder, etc., etc., but you can't rename files. When this app finally gets that functionality, it will definitely earn 5 stars from me.
Perfect for Group Projects
by Skinica on 2010/02/12 16:59
Dropbox has been useful for just coordinating my files when working either on my laptop, school, or fiancee's computer. But it has a godsend for a project I'm working on with a partner. We're serving as legal counsel to a nonprofit organizations, doing several discrete projects and creating pamphlets, educational devices, candidate fact sheets, candidate questionnaires, etc. Dropbox (a) lets me see old versions if there's ever a mistake, (b) let's me instantly see any updates that my partner makes, (c) allows me to see if anything has been changed via my iphone. Compared to MobileMe's iDisk, this thing takes the cake (assuming you don't need anything more than 2-3gb, which is plenty for sharing documents). I can have active syncing over multiple computers, intuitively share files, and email a link to the file directly on my iphone or computer. And I can do it all for free. 10 stars out of 10 stars.
Photos GONE!!! And the refused to refund.
by Ratemetruthfully on 2017/09/28 13:45
I like many others have used Dropbox to save my photos over the years since iCloud has clean swiped my photos several times in the past. I recently went to check on my photos as I'm looking to upgrade my iOS and always double check my back ups before doing so. Low and behold my biggest fear realized. All my photos have been deleted WITHOUT my permission. According to the person that helped me they can only restore photos from a 30 day deletion period (mine is now 3 months deleted apparently) so they can't help me. In my opinion, I pay for the safety of my photos with this app and since Dropbox failed MISERABLY to secure my photos I believe the fair and right thing to do is refund my subscription cost. But no, I've been told that they WILL not refund me my subscription of two years due to their "policies". Unbelievable. Tell me drop box, why the hell am I a paying customer to have peace of mind that my photos and documents are safe with you when you just freaking delete them anyway? AND then refuse to take accountability and refund my money? Don't pay this company. They have zero integrity.
Great app!
by Big Bease on 2012/12/15 09:09
I use it all the time! While reading other's reviews, I can't help but notice how petty some of the complains are that would cause one to give this app such a bad rating! This is a great app! Does everything you can really ask of it as far as functionality goes. Yes it could probably be cleaned up a little with an upgrade to the user interface, but really? Your going to complain about 2 free GB of storage that can share files with your computer because it has flaws in its presentation? It's a class interface that doesn't look like someone created the program during a drunken all night programming session, most people shouldn't be worried with what color they chose to make their background. Easy to use and very helpful when sending files. Doesn't bog down my phone when sending e-mails with drop box attachments. Sends like a regular e-mail. I highly recommend...and it's free, quit complaining...
It’s Alright
by Firey432 on 2015/02/28 02:27
Don’t get me wrong.. I like this app and 9/10 times, it works flawlessly. My only issue is the way that photos and files are organized makes it very difficult to browse anything. For example, if I added a file to a folder with 100 other images, viewing under “Files” is a long list. If I view under “Photos”, some newly uploading pictures that probably weren’t created “recently” drop to months ago which makes looking for them very difficult. Also, their free space has been quite generous to me. Although this doesn’t affect my rating, it annoys me how Dropbox offers 1TB for $10 a month or their pro services. Sorry, but as a consumer, I’m just more tempted to try Google Drive or OneDrive as they offer 100GB for $2. Since I currently use only 40GB, I see no reason to pay so much for space, especially when using a 128GB SSD MacBook, therefore I can’t even store that much on a normal basis. I was a huge fan of Dropbox, as everything with it works flawlessly, but the pricing option is just really poor.
Worse customer service ever
by Bbjjvbb on 2018/02/04 07:42
I recently had to change my phone number, due to family violence. This last minute change did not give me any chance to think about changing my phone number on my dropbox account. Dealing with cops and having a child changing my phone number on a dropbox account was not the first thing that came to mind. I have had dropbox since I was in high school so when I contacted the dropbox customer service no one was able to help me re-open my dropbox account. I basically lost eight years worth of pictures and videos. All of my family memories and pictures of my daughter are all gone. Dropbox has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with in my entire life. The fact that they told me there was no way they could help reopen my account I suggest no one even use this app. This company should have a way to open someone’s account, just how for any other account for with any other company they have the option to re-open peoples accounts when things like this happen. I am very disappointed speciallySince I’ve been a customer for eight years and they couldn’t do anything for me
Extremely positive--love this app
by zappabeefheartfan on 2010/09/27 16:01
I am just delighted with Dropbox and with this app. I use dropbox constantly for my work, almost exclusively to work on word files. Havn't yet used it for larger files, like photos or music, but that should work too. So far, its perfect. I've created several folders to share with colleagues and with family and its just great to have the access. I made one for my son, for example, so he could save his homework in a file where he could always access it (at school for example when he forgets to bring it!) and where I can look at it, even when I am traveling (using the iphone app)!!. I find the dropbox iphone app works very well with on-phone text editing programs, like quickoffice. Quickoffice costs $10 but dropbox is free as long as you only use 2 GB. Thats not a lot or a huge amount, depending on what you need to do. For me 2GB is just fine, and I am loving this app.
There's a huge Problem...Live Photos
by Nanananana53737 on 2016/01/30 21:28
I love Dropbox so much! It is truly my daily file storage driver for keeping all of my files, folders, and images in there! But....I am hesitating to store my photos in there, actually, simple because of the lack of Live Photos support. Guys, it doesn't make sense to me that the second iOS 9 came out, you jumped out of your way to implement new features such as Spotlight search, 3D Touch, etc. but failed to implement one of the most precious features which is the support for Live Photos. Because of the lack of its availability, I am keeping my Live Photos originals onto my phone just in case I want to jump ships (which I really don't want to do)! Without the implementation of Live Photos support, your app is deadly mediocre despite the fact of how much you publicize your photo and video upload! Please please please...Implement this in the NEAR, NEAR future & if I don't see it by then, I am afraid that I will have to find an alternative. Thanks for everything you do & am waiting for a response! :)
A totally essential app
by adaptiveagile on 2017/03/19 16:27
Dropbox has saved me so much time with its built in scanning features. I take pictures of documents with either my iPad or iphone and get lightweight, perfect PDFs for filing. Zero complaints about the app. Moreover the new convert to scan features make this the killer filing system app. Only downside is that they cash your trashed items, which show up on your history. That is a privacy violation that is unacceptable. I expect they will address this issue in an update because I know a lot of people are upset with this policy. That aside, the best app around for remote storage and document management. The scan technology they use beats any of the scanner apps I've purchased or tried by a mile. Their black and white render, for example has the best quality of any scanner app, without jagged edges on straight lines. Masterpiece app -- just fix the bloody caching of privately disposed data please.
Perfect for beginners like me

I hate learning new technology! I’m slow and get frustrated easily. I was worried this would be another program that I used once and deleted. However it’s just what I need. I dozens of documents over the internet daily. Some are sent through email, some on websites, instant message, even through Twitter. I also use Rocketbooks. I wanted to be able to store all of these in one place. Most programs that do that are expensive or are difficult to learn. (At least for this old dog.) Add in a wireless printer and I was completely lost. This makes it easy to send paperwork to one file or another. It can be organized by date or name. Plus printing is a breeze. I can see where people that have more experience or want/need more would find this program lacking but for someone like me who has so much stuff spread everywhere with little patience to learn this is great!
Life Saver

Dropbox is one of the most important apps I own. A week before my phone was stolen, I had gotten this app and uploaded my entire camera roll and was able to get all of my photos back. It's also useful to save storage on my phone because I can just upload my photos and then delete them from my camera roll, but still be able to view them in the app. But I only have 2 problems with it: 1.) I would like there to be an edit option so I can crop my photos, because it's really annoying when I crop a photo on my phone and then when I upload it, it uncrops it. 2.) I don't like the fact that the app has to be open in order to upload the photos on my camera roll. It takes a really long time and I don't want to have to wait for it to finish, and I don't want to leave it open in case my phone becomes over heated from being open to long. Overall this is a great thing to have and I highly recommend getting it.
iOS 8 integration, particularly doc picker, is bad
by Bud Gibson on 2014/11/04 14:30
Dropbox is integral to my workflow. I have all of my most important documents on there, and I use the packrat service to maintain copies of my files over time in case I delete any by accident. I have also integrated it in with a number of my other services. Effectively, it is my digital hub. HOWEVER, I have one giant complaint, enough to knock the iOS app from 5 stars to 3 stars and make me start to consider alternative services. Dropbox has done a frustratingly incomplete integration with iOS 8's new doc picker. For instance, go to any iWork app and hit the plus sign. You'll see a list of services from which you can open files. Go to the more item, and it will appear that you can select dropbox to appear in this list, but no, you can't. Sure, you can toggle the dropbox switch, but it never appears as one of your choices when it comes time to selecting files. Box, a dropbox competitor, does implement this functionality quite well, so it IS NOT AN IWORK PROBLEM. I get the impression that dropbox is fighting on too many fronts at once. They want you to route your mail through mailbox and always back up your photos to them. What I want is a way to conveniently access my documents across multiple devices. Period. I am now actively considering alternatives to dropbox. They need to fix this functionality.
The Best!

You know what's nice about this app? I never think about it. I've been using Dropbox since it was available to the public and I don't think I've ever had a single problem with it. It's there when I need it and working in the background when I don't. For all the people complaining about the cost and only having a few gigs of free storage, please calm down. This company should get paid for what they do. Do you work for free? I don't think so. The free level of Dropbox is to show you how it works so you can try it before you buy it. I tried it for a few years until I needed more space and then I started paying. You can go get better pricing or free options from other companies but from my experience they're not as good. Plus, you have to ask yourself how some of these other companies can give so much free space away. What are they getting in return from you?
How to fix crashing in 1.5
by h_nodder on 2012/06/15 01:15
I wanted the new capability of moving/deleting multiple files at once with version 1.5, so I upgraded from the previous version on my 4th generation iPod Touch running iOS 5.1.1. Like other reviewers, I found that 1.5 crashed after I entered my passcode. I deleted the app and reinstalled it (this has apparently fixed other apps' upgrade problems), logged into it again and set the Passcode Lock, and it works fine now (Your Mileage May Vary). The only thing I lost is the "favorited" (starred) status of selected files; I needed to favorite them again so they would be stored locally on my device. This delete and reinstall actually helped me clean out some favorites which I really wasn't using, so it freed up a little more space on my iPod. I mostly use Dropbox to read PDF files -- it's actually more convenient than some other free, dedicated PDF reader apps.
The best, the very best
by Sonichedgehogback on 2010/07/21 00:59
This is one of my 2 most used apps on the iPhone and iPad. You say it's simple, an everyday idea right...? Wrong. The extent of integration, seamlessness and performance of drop box is stunning. My wife and I use this app to exchange files on a regular basic. Eg she just scanned a doc on her widows box and put it in drop box, then i picked it up on my iPad. I just needed a pic transferred from my iPhone to my desktop and I was going to use it again, but got taken over by a bout of gratitude and decided to write a quick review. Despite my extensive use of db i am not a paying customer. I don't need the extra space - still o would be happy to pay... Hint to the company - give me a reason, any simple reason and my credit card will come peeling out. Example - fine grained sharing - let me create users and selectively give them access to files... I think that would be a real killer app.

Dropbox is the only good cloud file service, I'm convinced of this. I've used it for years, and despite the company's troubles it's remained the most solid. I've tried iCloud Drive, OneDrive, Google Drive (which ranks a close 2nd for me), and I also use Creative Cloud as a designer and design student. Dropbox is the only app that integrates deeply with Office documents, PDFs, and it handles Adobe files perfectly acceptably. It's the only cloud file service that lets you edit files directly on mobile devices, whereas other cloud services make copies for you to edit. Then you have to delete the old file, move the edited one to the proper place, etc. etc. It's probably the only service that I *happily* pay for to support the team who makes it. Yes, it has its difficulties but they are amount to far less than other cloud services. Hope my good review offsets the bad, Dropbox is the best.
Ok product with lousy support
by P9thon 4rms on 2014/12/10 22:20
This was my main cloud service for a couple of years. Recently I added Google Drive for improved file sharing and increased memory--Google offers a lot more for less, so I can store my media there as well as documents. The other day I fired up my old laptop, and apparently DropBox took that as a signal to delete any files and folders that were added since the last time that laptop was used--about 2012. While I still technically have all of my files--DB caches them in Windows--all of the organization is gone, so I have about two thousand business files organized alphabetically. Their help articles didn't offer any solution that worked, and I spent a couple of hours Googling for a solution without success. Supposedly DB can fix this by rolling your folders back to a previous date, but as of today it's been ten days and while they did respond to my initial request with an email, they have not performed the rollback and have ignored my three followup requests. I'm in real estate and my entire business is in those files, so my life is a mess right now.
Interface keeps getting worse
by 56t on 2018/01/06 14:31
The Dropbox app is a fascinating study in how an app can end up being horrible because of the interface design driven by business decisions, despite outstanding backend engineering. The service is completely reliable. I love the service. But the app and interface are horrible: they keep changing it, which is awful in itself. Then, there’s a giant comment button that covers your content no matter what and can never be removed, no options, no nothing. Just unbelievably stupid. And now there is no way to access files that are permanently stored on your device, without endless clicks. There is really no useful way to quickly access your most important files at all. Of the useful buttons at the bottom, most are dedicated to crap you don’t want but they do, because it increases storage and makes them more money – photos, adding content, and other stuff you don’t really want from your mobile device. All of these decisions are user-hostile and make the app worse and worse and worse. I guess I’ll have to start looking for alternatives.
New to the 'cloud'
by Bomkweesha on 2011/05/28 04:45
As my title says, I'm still learning the ropes as far as navigating storing information in the cloud. I've heard nothing but the highest praise of Dropbox from several of the blogs out there and I decided to give it a try. I am now a total believer! I love the fact that I can save things to Dropbox and always have access to them, for quick reference! For me it also cuts down on the need to carry one more thing around! If I need to look at a document I can easily pull it up on my iPad and look it over. Probably the only thing stopping this from being a perfect app for me is the fact that (at least from iOS devices) you cannot edit text from the app. I have several pieces of writing stored and I would love to be able to change a sentence or add another paragraph from the app versus having to open Pages or another word processing app that you can't save back into. Otherwise, this app is amazing!!
Horrible naming scheme for photos
by Jason Jones 3 on 2015/02/18 08:50
I use Dropbox a lot from my desktop and would use more from my phone but the app offers no options for Tate naming of photos you upload. I want to keep the same name as used by the phone. No messing with any of the meta/exif data either. If there are name conflicts then let me decide how to resolve and offer choices like windows. Currently the app names photos with the month and day and time. Two years of data will sort together alphabetically. Very lame. The carousel app is better for naming but still does not offer a choice. If you don't upload all you photos with dropboxes apps, you'll have duplicates around with the iOS name and the Dropbox name. Very very annoying. Google drive doesn't do this. The other file manager apps for iOS keep the iOS filename and don't tweak the meta data either. If they didn't exist, I'd cancel my Dropbox subscription altogether. The new integration into iOS 8 is very cool. If they just fixed the naming scheme, it would be a perfect solution. Now I avoid it for mobile use.
Better than Google Docs
by bfcoats2 on 2010/08/23 21:27
I rarely write a 5/5 star review, but this app has earned it. Dropbox is easier to use (iPhone and computer versions), supports more file formats, and comes with twice the free storage than Google Docs. This app is great to use as part of my flight training business, especially with the favorites being available when you are not connected to the Internet (i.e. airplane mode). It also works on operating systems as old as Windows '98se (I haven't tried any older OSs) or as new as Windows 7. Highly recommended, this app is a "must have" for any businessman, teacher, or anyone else with an iPhone trying to avoid carrying their laptop around with them everywhere they go. I keep my flight and ground lesson plans in my dropbox so that I can access them from my iPhone, even in the cockpit or on the tarmac -- anywhere on (or above) planet Earth!
One of my top five apps
by Ad hater 20140323 on 2017/10/12 12:21
Update Oct 12,'17: The "Folder too large" bug is back. Very annoying although doesn't affect functionality other than having red x's everywhere you can't get rid of. I originally started using this app several years ago because the iPhone Photos app was so bad (still is) for organizing pics. After a year I upgraded to paid version and now this has become one of my top 5 apps (along with email, browser, excel, and quicken) and is my primary tool for sharing data across my computers and iPad and iPhone. Still some areas that need improvement. Handling very large files and folders of very large files is getting better. And archives of old versions somehow. Ransomware hit me a year ago and Dropbox happily replaced my data with the corrupted files across all my devices. Fortunately I make weekly backups as well so didn't actually lose anything.
Dropbox good. Pro needs heads up re: losing Carousel
by ShaneStreet on 2015/11/05 04:40
The Dropbox software has been great, but please cancel my Dropbox Business trial ASAP and re-enable my Carousel capability. Losing Carousel is a deal breaker, as it has been the most essential value to my small business. If not for this, I would give Dropbox 4-5 stars. I started the trial to expand into accessing more of my non-picture/video files, but was surprised to lose the ability to share with & present picture files with clients as planned just before I needed to do so after starting the trial business upgrade. I am not interested in paying for two accounts. Please let me know when it is possible to automatically back up my camera roll via a business account and manage albums conveniently from there in a manner similar or better than Carousel. Side note only - for what it is worth: I like having Carousel as a backup and means to share picture and video files. The only reason that I do not use Carousel more (more than when I just cannot burn up the memory for certain project albums on the mobile device) is because I cannot modify the pictures in Carousel. Also, pictures edited on my mobile device's camera roll software do not get uploaded automatically to DropBox. That includes, at a minimum, the ability to rotate pictures. The ability to crop and improve photo quality details would be the icing on the cake.
Audio file playback needs updating
by bagaboiebailey on 2018/03/05 17:14
I use Dropbox almost entirely for listening to my marching band and string orchestra music, so here are some things this app (and also the windows 10 version) needs (which by the way I put 4 stars rather than 5 due to the time I’ve been waiting for these to be added): -Allow the audio files in groups of/folders with only audio files (such as mp3s and mp4s) to be looped through automatically, and allow singular audio files to be played through on loop as well (and especially do these for audio files downloaded for offline, since I use audio files offline like 90% of the time so that would really help). -Add a way to make playlists of audio files that can be looped through (and again, make sure playlists can be downloaded for offline for the reasons I mentioned before). Otherwise, okay app!
Great Addition to an already Terrific Service
by ericschwartz on 2009/09/29 21:42
I am a fairly new Dropbox user and am using their free version that offers me 2GB of space. Dropbox has been great syncing my some of my files on my work PC and my home MAC. Having the ability to now access my files anywhere in the world is awesome! I going to re-evaluate how I use Dropbx because I will now have access to my files anywhere. Just as described, the App is easy to use. As soon as I logged into the App using the same user name and password as my Dropbox account, a new iPhone introduction pdf snyced to my computer. That was fast! I like the ability of emailing out a link to any of my files in case I need that option. For a future version, I would like to see a search function that can look through all of my folders to speed of the process even more.
Worse every update
by most original nick on 2014/02/02 18:21
Have been using DB for several years and have no complaints with desktop version. HATE ipad version more and more with each update. It seems all that each update does nothing but add gloss while removing substance and makes the app increasingly slow, clunky, and annoying. Way too stripped down (can't rename files, for example.) HATE the intrusiveness of the left menu--figured out you have to tap a photo to view full screen, but still wondering why you can't just collapse that effing menu with an "x" or arrow instead of a gesture. Not fond of the initially baffling "..." thing to do two very common tasks (select and upload) while icons I never use (favorites, photos, settings) reside in valuable screen space along the bottom. As for the settings, NOTHING about the interface can be customized..why is this placed so prominently? Cannot express how much I HATE that I must give DB location data to upload photos. Everyone knows this is pure corporate BS and not a technical requirement--together with all else, it is the last straw for me. Bye bye DB ipad!
!!! DELETE DROPBOX APP AND REINSTALL - JUST UPGRADING CAUSES IT TO START CRASHING !!!
by DB4IP on 2012/06/15 05:25
In order to use the latest update, you will need to uninstall the app and then reinstall it. Just upgrading it will cause the app to start crashing. This crashing cannot be corrected by rebooting. This used to be a 4 star app but now I give it 3 stars due to this problem. Dropbox should have tested their upgrade process much better. The Dropbox app is a very nice app. It allows me to store my documents in the cloud so any of my devices can access them. It works cery well and is very useful since many apps support Dropbox integration. However, the Deopbox iOS app is rather limited in that it lacks many file management features such as move, copy, rename, create and delete folders, zip and unzip, etc. I should not have to use the desktop version for such features. Please add them ASAP and the Dropbox app would be great, merit 5 stars and eliminate my need to have to resort to other apps such as iFiles.
Great

Great design and all-around service. I've been using Dropbox for years for school work and it's saved me plenty of times when I forgot to pick up my papers from my printer. I really wish you could improve the music player though. I was running out of space on my iPad so I had to delete all my music. I was hoping to use Dropbox or an app that plays music off of Dropbox but none of those work. The music player right now isn't best. It doesn't have loop, loop one, shuffle, etc. It also takes a lot of time to load each song before they actually play. If you do consider improving the player, also think about how some people organize their music in a folder called Music and sub folders by artists and albums. Perhaps make an option to only play certain folders and/or play all sub folders.

Reader Mode and Editor Mode

More fluidity
by The Rhythmist on 2018/06/12 23:08

First time I’ve had a problem like this in 10 years, pCloud and other photo backup apps haven’t had this issue.. I’ll be looking to switch to another service now

Love the access to my data. I dj so having access to my music and sharing my mixes is essential in growing my brand. Dropbox provides the ability for me too do so. Only option I would like is the ability to play more than one file at a time....essentially build playlist.

WTH?

I have been a Dropbox user for many years. Many excellent features. One is the multiple backups to a file. That saved a very important file that crashed. Went to the file on Dropbox chose the backup prior to crash and was restored. Saved a panic attack.

Everything about the Dropbox app just works. It’s great. I’d love to see more functions added to the player for audio files (a repeat button, skip forward/backward 15 seconds, etc.). I hope they add this in future updates or even a paid version.

by canyonhunter1 on 2018/06/05 22:01

Would be perfect if a basic editor is added

Dropbox for iPhone: A Good Start
by David Vasquez on 2009/09/29 22:57
After using this app for a brief time, I have found myself wanting to go back to the web interface - and for only one main reason.
Perfect for beginners like me
by Supernatural witch on 2017/12/11 01:30
I hate learning new technology!
Life Saver
by Non ya business! on 2014/05/30 17:01
Dropbox is one of the most important apps I own.
