It works when it works ...
by perryl8 on 2017/04/28 21:01
... The idea of Dropbox is good but it is an unreliable app; Sometimes the app is able to upload my 1-2 minute video shorts, but 1/3 of my attempted uploads fails to upload or the fragile app crashes - and When the upload is successful, it took a very long time to do the upload and meanwhile I dared not use my device. The user interface is also confusing and difficult to understand. I would not call this app a piece of crApp, but it is frustrating to use.
used to love it now I hate it
by marloniiiiiiiiiiii on 2017/04/27 04:00
My photos used to be backed up now they're all gone. I hate this app now, I can't believe I'm missing so many photos smh
Love this app!
by Soccertaxi on 2017/04/27 00:29
I've been using DropBox for quite a while to "drop" documents from my phone to a place where I can then pick up and save to my computer later. It works great. I just discovered a couple of weeks ago that when I am on a website that I need a screen print that I can just select "save to Dropbox" and it creates a PDF file automatically! I have several apps that I have been trying to do this and they don't work so now I can delete them!! I'm excited because it was just too easy to do with DropBox. It's also great for another app I have that I create a backup to DropBox then I can restore to another device when I need to use it instead. I like that this app is so easy to use. :)
Awesome embedded "Save to Dropbox" feature on iPhone & iPad!!!
by Angelo Review on 2017/04/26 21:20
I honestly had never used Dropbox until I found the "Save to Dropbox" feature on my iPhone and iPad. Now I love it! You can save the site you are looking at as a PDF file to your Dropbox account from the web browser. You have to have the Dropbox app on your phone and a Dropbox account of course. You will also need to turn the "Save to Dropbox" selection on through web browser settings. It's in the same area you go to print or bookmark a web page. If you don't see it make sure you have the Dropbox app on the device you are using and when going to the area where you would bookmark scroll all the way to the right and there should be a button to select more. It will save the web page to your Dropbox account when you select "Save to Dropbox". Then you can open the Dropbox app and your file with load in as a PDF and you can even continue to save it offline to your device if you wish. Great feature! Just a word of warning, it will save exactly what is displayed on the web page at the time you save it. Meaning, if images aren't loaded for instance, then it will save the page with those images not loaded. Hope this helps!

Upload not working
by preferprivacy on 2017/04/26 12:11
Dropbox used to be great. Now it no longer properly uploads in the background. I have tried numerous fixes and it simply does not work correctly on my brand new iPhone 7 plus.
Terrible Customer Service!
by Mki3148 on 2017/04/26 11:28
I downloaded this app so I could see old videos of my grandparents that were sent to me. I was somehow signed up for some package where I'd be charged. I canceled this (following the instructions sent in an email) prior to the date I was told my "trial" ended. I received several emails over the next few weeks about failed attempts to charge me. I emailed back telling them to stop charging me and that I canceled this "subscription". It took several weeks to hear anything back. I finally received an email telling me they'd stop. Then today, a couple of weeks after the first response, I receive another email directing me to read my email to see they took care of the issue. If they were responding within a reasonable time period or read dates they'd see the email was sent before ANY response. If a company cares this little about their customers, I want nothing to do with them. I would NOT recommend this company.
Pretty good
by C_Catz on 2017/04/25 06:39
This is a super useful app and I'm sad I waited so long to download. So nice having all my pics accessible and backed up. I gave four stars because I wish it had more space on the basic version; 100 bucks per year is a little too steep for me to upgrade for more space. Due to this, my use of the app is a bit limited.
Free space at 2gb???
by blanrv84n on 2017/04/25 06:07
I could have sworn that the free storage was at our around 5gigs. I had double the amount of files a few months ago now I have to delete them just to make room!! Switching to BOX!!!!
Great!!

Slow
by Aasfbjkgdsgnkkvfhfdc on 2017/04/25 02:11
I love the this app. However it takes forever just to upload one photo please fix this.
Not reliable
by h2oskiier00 on 2017/04/24 16:26
Not a reliable app. Has trouble backing up. Slow. Doesn't back up in the background...have to leave app open to backup. That means you can't use your phone for anything else, and it can take a while to backup. So good luck if you get a call or want to send a text or use your phone for anything other than staring at it while it backs up. Don't let your phone go to sleep or the backup stops. Don't like the layout of the app either. Much preferred Carousel-- bring it back.
v44.2 wont upload iOS pics
by RefundPlz on 2017/04/24 11:23
The latest app version (April 2017) won't upload photos from iOS devices. Also the CAMERA UPLOADS file folder is inaccessible, so you cannot view previously stored pics. Didn't need the fancy new grid view in this update - instead users still need the basics, like the ability to auto upload pics from devices
Latest update
by Jeffsgirlone on 2017/04/24 09:55
App worked fine until I got a new phone. All of my photos are gone there absolutely nothing on Dropbox at all. Hundreds of photos are just gone. If I could give zero stars I would.
Latest update as of 23/Apr 2017
by AnnoyedHeavyUser on 2017/04/24 04:12
Painful on old iPad 3 with this latest update. It appears to always assume device is in portrait mode, start painting and then pauses for multiple seconds to realize it needs to redo in landscape mode (when device is held this way). Each time I swap back to this app I have to wait a while to get the basic view to render. Wasn't an issue with previous updates so I'm hoping this is a bug that will be fixed in the next update. Quality control please!
You broke Camera Uploads
by vnangia on 2017/04/23 23:26
It's worked consistently for years. Thanks for breaking it. Every upload requires me to terminate the app so that the next can occur. Fail.
Latest update fatal crash
by markgio76 on 2017/04/22 21:26
I love when they added the ability to scan documents but the latest update rendered that useless. Whenever I try and capture a scan the app crashes. Needs to be addressed asap then will update review.

DONT DOWNLOAD!!! HACKED!!!
by Jessb253 on 2017/04/22 06:32
I had Dropbox for a couple days and got hacked!! Only 2 people knew the password and email address. The other persons pictures were deleted, mine was kept, and tons of files were made as well as a picture uploaded by a complete stranger!!!!!! Ridiculous and scary!!
Searching barely works
by Anhtuanpda on 2017/04/22 02:21
I searched for a docx file that I just made yesterday (and I can see it right there in the list). But this app showed no result!? And the sharing function is hard to understand.

Content View - FINALLY!!
by SteveDTNYC on 2017/04/20 16:37
The one bug I had about the app was trying to view photos in a folder was virtually impossible. Now that they added a "grid" view in today's update, problem resolved!! Dropbox is by far the best cloud service out there. It's integration with iOS is so seamless. 5 stars all the way!

Marginal, at best
by Who likes D&D ? on 2017/04/20 03:32
I mostly use Dropbox to sync files between home and work on my MacOS machines. For that, it is wonderful. There are only a few files that I want to look at on my phone. For that, this app is barely functional. For example, when looking at a large text file, I often want to search for text. Dropbox does not even provide that functionality, let alone any editing functions. Also, Dropbox Paper does not help, because it does not display the contents of my Dropbox folder. I only use it, because it's no extra cost.
What did you do?
by ma_dnd_player on 2017/04/20 02:17
The latest update just eats storage on my iPhone. Clearing the cache doesn't help and I don't have offline files stored.

Scan Feature Questionable
by Chris@Pluma on 2017/04/19 20:00
The scan feature is a nice touch if it worked properly. Look at how turbo scan works, take the picture first and then adjust the borders. When I use the scan function from DB, the border goes spastic making it almost impossible to take a usable scan.
Great Service and Great App
by Lay pay on 2017/04/19 14:50
I nearly lost three days of work on a corrupted psd- but Dropbox allowed me to re-download a prior version from my past saves. Saved me time and heartbreak! The app is fantastic as well- I can easily transfer files from my computer and phone with ease and be assured it's available to be anywhere. Thank you for a wonderful service!

Zero clue
by mschultz on 2017/04/19 01:38
This app is painful. I like the service itself, other than it's more expensive than it should be for what it provides. As soon as there's a viable alternative… I'm gone. The iOS app is painful. It has the absolute most basic functionality a file saving app can have… and that's it. Really don't care about 'Recent' files and want to hide that functionality? NOPE. Want to sort folders like you do on your desktop? NOPE. Want to change the size of the panels so you can see the full file names? NOPE. Poorly designed, and not useful beyond incredibly basic file operations. It's always trying to be everything other than the one thing it should be amazing at being: A FILE DROPBOX. I'm convinced the coders/designers of this app barely, if ever, use it. Shameful. Grade: D-

Not bad, could be better
by Jackinator94 on 2017/04/16 18:10
I've been using Dropbox the past 2-3 years. It's a great tool to use as I often forget my USB's and I transfer various files from my phone to my laptop in order to free up space. This app is alright. It does sometimes glitch though. My phone storage sometimes appears as 'almost full' even when I deleted many files from Dropbox.

Can't Bulk Downlod
by iPhone Brandon on 2017/04/14 21:26

Uses a lot of storage on device
by Dga223 on 2017/04/11 07:48
Even though I only had approx 500 MB of files uploaded to dropbox, it consumed almost 5GB of storage on my device. There is no way to clear cache or delete anything placed in trash, because it does not give you the option. Poorly written code here.

by Jellelliott on 2017/04/10 02:36
A very good app for free that everyone should have. Just wish it was more clear on how to expand space on Dropbox for free. (You need to get other people to sign up under your recommendation, which you send an email to them through the app, you get .3 GB extra free space)
Really great

Very frustrating current update
by Nessvers on 2017/04/09 21:03
I am a long time DB user. Maybe it's me, but the current update will not load. I have tried repeatedly but no go. It works on my iPhone and my desktop, but not the iPad. The glitch is unfortunate because I use it all the time.

Useless for sharing files from mobile app
by A902450928543 on 2017/04/07 18:58

Dropbox or iCloud
by Karaione on 2017/04/07 17:19
Very good app for storing files. I would rate it five stars if the app was a little more user friendly (I would like to see the people to whom I've shared a link and discontinue their access) and if I could play videos and view pictures from my iPhone app to my Apple TV. I would cancel iCloud if it would preview raw photo files like DNG or NEF. I like how I can just swipe through photos in a folder unlike iCloud. UPDATE: After this update NEF and DNG files still cannot be previewed.
Saying Goodbye to Dropbox
by fugly_mofo on 2017/04/07 02:01
Dropbox doesn't respect your privacy (Condoleezza Rice, original architect of the NSA Surveillance State, is on the company Board) and on top of that lately I got my public links disabled and accused of allowing too much traffic to be downloaded but they won't say which files theoretically caused this. Switched to iCloud storage. Buh byeeee

I have been using this everyday for the last 18 months and I love this product. I work alone, but I use this to hop between 2 mobile phones and 2 desktops. Its so convenient for this purpose. I dont use any paid services with them b/c the free cloud size is enough.
Drains your battery!
by Snow Whie on 2017/04/06 21:23
I have used Dropbox for about 6 years now and have been a huge fan, until now! The new up date will not load, and for some reason the app will drain your battery. I saw one review where this was happening to someone else and I deleted the app and battery problem was solved. I have an android phone with the app on it and it does not drain the battery! Come on Dropbox, get this fixed!

Clear cache never worked. Support pays lip service
by BSartist on 2017/04/06 04:11
As soon as the version came out that included the clear cache option, I tried it and it never worked. Others have complained on the forum. I submitted a bug report. Every once in awhile I get an email back with some comment about someone looking into it. New releases keep coming and the problem is ignored. This feature should have been there from the beginning. You have to delete the app and reinstall to clear the cache. It's taking 4GB on my phone. Cmon. You added the option. Now make it work.
Great storage!
by IloveYoutube! on 2017/04/06 02:33

Thumbprint login not working since IOS 10
by Krewzlo on 2017/04/05 20:41
Every since switching to ios 10, the thumbprint login doesn't show up when first opening the app. After putting in passcode and reopening the app, then you can login with thumbprint until app sits idle for awhile then have to put passcode back in.

Scam
by Sioux1948 on 2017/04/05 17:24
Do not get taken like I did. I signed up for this as a free APP. It never worked. Kept saying it did not recognize my email address. I tried to call them but they only have a fax number-- no customer support number where you can speak to someone . I cancelled the app then got an email where the tried to say I had upgraded. Bunch of crooks. A real scam.

Pros and Cons
by xgh on 2017/04/05 13:49
For me, a long time Dropbox user, it's been a reliable service that's well accepted by other apps. On the downside, there are some disturbing issues: 1) Privacy: DB opens with the Recents page, including deleted files. If there's anything in there you don't want people to see, you need to make sure your device is not accessible by anyone else. There's no way to change this. People have been requesting DB address this weakness for years and nothing gets done. 2) Support: As in zero. 3) New features: Just the opposite, every year brings another reduction in features. 4) Browser incompatibility: Use Safari as DB is not fully functional with Chrome on a desktop. 5) Interface: Gets worse every year. 6) Errors: Once you permanently delete a file don't expect it to go away. On the second attempt I get endless spinners or a message that it could not perform that action. Months can go by with that file still showing -- and accessible. Very poor choice for a professional/working service. All of the above has been around for years. The DB community complains. Nothing gets done.
Can't update
by Sneakmode on 2017/04/05 13:40

Not showing real photo quality
by Olоlо on 2017/04/05 10:06
I've made screenshots from my iPhone and uploaded to dropbox. But when I open then these files in dropbox on same device - they looks blurry in dropbox app, lower quality. Using iPhone 6. But when I hold finger on these blurry screenshots and get a menu: save to camera roll, save. And then opening them in photo app - they're in native quality and looks clean. So dropbox stores normal quality but displays lower, blurred crap. Fix this! In latest version image still blurry.
Much improved UI. Include and option to not see files from apps in the recents view
by Electronicsguy on 2017/04/05 07:25
Include an option to hide certain type of files in the recents view. For eg., the dayone app stores multiple ".doentry" files. It's not necessary to view such dot-filed in the recents since these are sync files from the app. Still no support for Live Photos? Cannot even create/edit text files? Directories should be grouped before files in view. No way to view login activity? Come on Dropbox!

Dropbox vs all the other clouds
by PSSnyder on 2017/03/31 10:36
Pay attention to the App Store editors comment that "it just works - seamlessly and effortlessly". Ignore the negative reviews, I have used DropBox for many years, now with MS Word, and it is amazing. My original review is still true - I use Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud, Google Drive and others at work and home. Objectively Dropbox is the only cloud storage that I can rely on to store and display almost any file on almost any platform. I don't have any problems with the iOS app on 8.3 but even if I did Dropbox cloud storage is the only public server system I have found where I don't have to worry about losing critical files or not having the latest version to edit. I wish the others were as good, but they aren't.
wrong instructions??
by Sarahspencelala on 2017/03/31 04:51
I accidentally signed up for a subscription and I tried following the method to unsubscribe under FAQ. However once I got to the "manage apple ID" or whatever there was nothing that said "dropbox", like the app said there would be, so apparently after 30 days I'll be paying $10 a month and I don't know how to stop it. thanks
Great app. Just one more thing
by Kveldalf on 2017/03/30 21:37
Nice app. Intuitively designed. But, regarding scanning, I need more recent Locations listed. You have 5 with plenty of room for 9 or more. I save to multiple locations and hunting for the frequently used Locations is frustrating.

I can't believe people actually use this. 2GB free? Are you kidding? Use ANY other cloud storage, and you'll likely get more.
Won't update!
by Impropricke on 2017/03/29 03:27
I've been using Dropbox for a very long time. Never had an issue until now. It won't update and it crashes. So disappointing because I save everything on it. Please fix it!
It simply doesn't work.
by Riley313 on 2017/03/29 02:27
Had to delete. It will not let you download a video from the app to the phone. It used to, but now it won't, therefore it is now useless. It states that it cannot download the video due to its format, but I have been doing so for years so I know that is not true. Too bad.

Uninstall and reinstall Dropbox
by zeldakix17 on 2017/03/27 12:25
Since the update, it crashes what you should do. Is if you uninstall and reinstall the app it will work again. That happened with an update to instagram too. I gave it 3 stars cause it needs more features. After that update it is now completely stupid. I can't upload photos automatically anymore Mega is 50GB free!!! Yeah free!
App keeps crashing

Dropbox for iPhone: A Good Start
by David Vasquez on 2009/09/29 22:57
After using this app for a brief time, I have found myself wanting to go back to the web interface - and for only one main reason. Photo thumbnails. There don't seem to be any! Unfortunately for me, someone who takes a large number of photos and stores them in his dropbox, this poses a problem which the web interface doesn't have. The ability to view image thumbnails seems like a no-brainer to me. I'm really disappointed that this functionality appears to be missing. The app itself works fine, it does what it says, and I LOVE the ability to send off my photos and videos from anywhere to my computers at home. Major bonus points for that one Dropbox! However, for browsing files, I think I'll be sticking with the web app - at least until photo thumbnails are integrated. It makes it difficult to browse for the photos I'm looking for without them. In addition, it seems a lot of basic functionality of managing files within your dropbox are missing. After reading over their "to do" list, it seems like these things are planned for future revisions - no mention of photo thumbnails, though! Overall, A good start to an app that holds a lot of promise. Unfortunately I can't rate it 5 stars until I can happily delete the shortcut to the web interface from my home screen. If I have to use both, it isn't fulfilling all the needs it should be. It has a lot of room to grow, but the initial release is well worth picking up.
Incredible app!
by madisono on 2016/12/07 21:23
With the world of cloud storage options being so large and growing every day, Dropbox is the standard by which to measure other apps, and I say just apps because it is a standout not only in cloud storage but as an app in general. That being said, my one negative thing to say is that I think the price for a solo user is too high. When I can get 50 GB of iCloud storage for 99 cents a month, and my Adobe Creative Cloud just flat out over triples my cloud storage for free when I called to see about paying for more storage all because I'm a good customer on a regular payment plan. It leaves me in the unfortunate world of a free account Dropbox customer, and I find that depressing because it limits my use of Dropbox and means I'm not financially contributing to what I consider one of the best and most useful apps on the market. If I could offer a suggestion, I feel stupid for assuming I could actually have advice to offer such a forward thinking brand, I would suggest Dropbox look into lower priced plans. Maybe these plans offer limited capabilities or space (For my use a 50GB storage option would be ideal) but another $10 a month auto payment is just too much. Maybe we could pick and choose which features or capabilities we want our Dropbox to have and pay accordingly. Just food for thought for a thoughtful company from a non paying user who wants to be a paying user.
Safest online storage for my writing - w/ Elements it works perfect for me
by ...S.B on 2013/04/19 01:03
It seems that Dropbox is the only online storage server whose user agreement states that Dropbox employees are forbidden from looking at your content, i.e. what's inside your documents, pix, &tc. By contrast, the Google user agreement states they can look through your stuff, use it however they want - that you agree it's cool with you so long as they don't claim ownership. Apple user agreements for online storage have always been vague legalese, so you don't know what they'll do. For my money, that means I'll store in Dropbox & nowhere else until I learn that Apple or Google respects the private sanctity of my stuff a lot more than they do now. As far as using the app, I've a big-screen iMac, an iPhone 5 & an iPad mini. I use a separate linked app, Elements, to write notes & documents into Dropbox on the fly. Some time ago, there were some glitches accessing everything equally on all 3 devices, but the Dropbox & Element developers seem to have cleared all that up. Lately anything I've ever written into Dropbox by way of Elements has been immediately accessible on all 3 devices, so for me it works perfectly. I guess this is kind of a review for Elements also, which I should go & write a review there too. Beyond that, I've shared photos & mp3s easily many times. No complaints.
Dropped In Just In Time
by dj22091 on 2009/10/03 19:16
I ended up downloading this because of the hype. I read from a few places that this new Dropbox app was something to have, and sure enough it is. I've been using Air Sharing for the longest time, mainly because of my school work. When I had a Powerpoint or Word Document to read I'd end up putting it in a folder to view later on the go. The only problem was connecting it to my iMac. There were a lot of different ways to connect Air Sharing to my computer, and while some did work, the majority did not. Dropbox, however, is a different story. I was skeptical at first, but after a few minutes I found that it is really easy to sync Powerpoints and the like to my phone. Just had to install the Dropbox application on my iPhone and my iMac and I was good to go. Now viewing these files over a Wi-Fi or 3G connection had me worried, considering that I may have to wait quite a while to view a Powerpoint at last notice. My worries faded when I saw that you were able to actually downlaod a file to your phone just by adding it as a favorite. It seems everything I had a question for was answered! Truly an awesome app that I will be getting much use out of.
LOVED Carousel...
by marsanchez02 on 2016/04/05 22:05
Carousel was the best app to happen to my phone. When they took it off, I was SUPER disappointed. I never liked using Dropbox itself bc of the terrible layout. Carousel helped delete photos off my phone to open up storage and now I'm scared to delete pictures off my phone because I'm not really sure it's gonna stay on Dropbox. Carousel had a beautiful layout where I could easily find any picture I wanted and it had flashbacks which were always cute to look at what you did the year before. I'm so used to pressing and holding to select multiple pictures. It was super easy to use and I loved it to the moon and back. Dropbox, however, I don't like and I'm not used to. The layout is bad and makes me feel claustrophobic. I never used this app when I had Carousel. NEVER. Dropbox doesn't remove photos from my phone that are safely stored, so yes I'm scared to manually delete them myself. I just don't like using it at all... Carousel was my life when I had it and my favorite app to use. Why did y'all have to shut it down?? If you want to keep your customers, PLEASE put back the Carousel features!! Very sad member. :( Pros- useful to access photos from any computer or device. Cons- basically what I wrote as a mini rant novel :(
Business users get the shaft
by Jayrodathome on 2014/09/10 22:46
I'm beyond frustrated with dropbox per their current model. Prior to a recent change in their service I had 30+ business accounts on a dropbox team. Storage wasn't an issue. They to date have given us 32tb of space to use between my employees. One of the most anticipated features was the camera upload. My company has many field employees who take pictures of work in the field. This feature would automatically add the photos from camera roll to their dropbox account for easy sharing and would send the pictures directly to their laptop on the camera upload feature. Now Dropbox requires you to have a second account (personal account) attached to the app in order to use this feature. None of the employees in my company have use for Dropbox outside of work. Now we are forced to pay for more additional storage through iCloud In order to store and share photos. Along with retraining everyone on how to use another system. I'm currently researching an alternative to Dropbox that is more business friendly. My requests to Dropbox support left them unable to work with me on the matter. Going to give them one more chance.
Not a Fan of Newest Update
by Fairfax14 on 2016/05/27 17:55
I depend on Dropbox everyday to get my work done and in general it does a fantastic job. However, this newest update makes sharing and saving files a massive hassle. In all past versions, you used to be able to just tap "Share Link" and a link would be automatically generated. Now you have to jump through the hoops of a dialogue box just to create something so simple. Please Dropbox—get rid of this annoyance and make it easy, like it is on the Mac and like it used to be! Also - it's really hard to figure out how to just download a photo to your phone now. You click the download button with the phone icon, but it doesn't show up in your "photos." Instead, I have to click on the random [...] button, then click SHARE VIA..., then click SAVE IMAGE. Again, too many hoops! Why don't you just bring back the share button—like every other app on iOS? Why is it hidden behind that inane and meaningless [...] button? There's plenty of space. I think the Dropbox team is trying to add features and that's great—but don't get in the way of usability and discoverability. Please! Make things simple again.
Newer and simpler
by iPBJ89 on 2012/12/16 04:35
This update is only making Dropbox even better. The simple redesign is fluid, the app loads faster, you can now submit file directly into any folder instead of going to the upload section to do so, create folders directly now and menu GUI is cleaner. I don't get the argument about the style change. I for one don't care about style or graphics as long as it looks fine enough. I don't pay to use apps or play games just because to look pretty with the graphical bandwagon. Its about the functionality and convenience and the new Dropbox update ensures that. The only few things missing is the sharing via other Dropbox accounts, "open in" integration, multiple file saves into the iPad memory, background/multitasking, renaming folders/files, more file type support like GIF and file sorting feature with multiple sorting options such as dates, file types, and names altogether. 4/5 stars so far for the improvement but still has room to grow with some missing crucial and basic features needed.
update is exactly what I asked for
by Ben HT on 2010/03/01 23:17
I downloaded Dropbox the first day it came out, but I noticed that it lacked some crucial features so I sent them an email with feedback. The previous version did not have the user controls while viewing a document in landscape mode so I had to switch back to portrait just to quit out of the document. There was also no fast scrolling. This version has all of that and I am glad that they actually listened to our feedback. They also added recall last-viewed document at start up, which I never thought of, and it is great because I sometimes go to Notes to write something down and then go back to the document to continue reading. I was previously torn between using Dropbox and AirSharing, but since I sync fewer than 2GB of data and I do not use most of the advanced features of AirSharing, I'm now consistently using Dropbox. Dropbox syncs so much easier and I already have it on all my computers. And of course it is FREE.
Very useful for every type of user
by billc2455 on 2012/06/17 22:47
One of the first apps I have ever taken the time to write a review for...This app is incredible in its simplicity and usefulness. I have worked in IT for over 10 years and use it on all of my computers and mobile devices to share media, documents, and any other type of file almost immediately. I've recommended it to family and friends on several occasions and it has always been received positively, even from people that are not very IT savvy. I see several reviews about recent issues with the password protection feature, but since this is not a feature that I use (nor should most users ever require this functionality), I have continued to use this app for quite some time with zero problems. Setup is a breeze and from there it is simply drag and drop. The interface is extremely intuitive and easy to use for even the most novice user. Even more amazing is that it's completely free!
The app is UNUSABLE now!
by DPdesh92 on 2014/10/25 22:53
This app used to be 4-5 stars, but now it's a 1-star app until this issue gets fixed. The issue is that when I open the app, I get a pop-up window that says "Sign in to iTunes to enable push notifications." I have already signed in, so I click 'Ok,' which closes the pop-up, but it comes back with the same message after a second. It does this even when I hit 'Cancel.' The pop-up ends up blocking any other iPad functions other than the volume control or lock button. The only way to get back to home screen is to hit 'OK' or 'Cancel' and then hit the home button just in time before the pop-up returns. This makes the app completely unusable. I have been using the Dropbox in conjunction with a note-taking app for around 2 years now without a hitch for grad school. Now with this issue, I will need to move all my files to google drive and delete my Dropbox subscription. I'd have to do this in future anyways, I guess since dropbox gives me only ~6 GB right now, whereas I can get 30 GB on Google drive, which makes more sense for the long term. However, I liked the dropbox app UI better than that of Google Drive. Frustrating and unfortunate!
Totally Fails iPhone and Zero Support
by JungleNut on 2017/01/31 00:40
Update: it's been over a month and still no support. I've been a paying customer for years and every time I have an issue it takes longer and longer for support to respond to my help tickets. This time they have totally failed to respond as promised. I cannot upload simple videos from my iPhone anymore and after a week of waiting for what they said would be a "48 to 72 hour wait for paying customers" I have given up. My particular issue is NOT covered in the FAQ nor in the Forums. I will find a better cloud storage that actually cares about their paying customers enough to provide support. Btw, I have submitted two help tickets, one a week ago and one 72 hrs ago with no reply whatsoever. Each time I get a auto generated response saying for paying customers will receive a response within 48 to 72 hours. Don't waste your time with Dropbox. They have out grown their own capacity both in support and in ability to provide reliable service. Also why would a developer release an update without disclosing what "improvements" I'm downloading? So far the app just gets more unreliable with each update in my experience.
And still it doesn't work
by Bfrank4fr on 2012/04/26 15:21
Despite "Tech Support" giving me the same instructions over and over (why would it work the 5th time if not the first) I have to manually transfer files from laptop to iphone. Even if it's my fault or a problem with my phone or settings, surely the brilliant people at Dropbox could solve it in a different way...what's that saying the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results? I'm looking for a reco for a different app/program - even though I paid for the upgraded extra space - if I can't fill it up automatically - it's worth NOTHING to me! Shame on you Dropbox. Also there is no way to contact them - they just keep offering FAQs - you got too big too quickly and forgot customer service. Initially this was great - even with a glitch I got fast feedback and got that fixed. But now it will not sync so even when I try to manually set that up it doesn't. I don't know what the problem is - but David Pogue should re-evaluate this. Something is not right here. And tech support is not responding either. Oh well, perhaps their competitors will take this concept and improve upon it.
Terrible experience and awful customer service
by Jw8376384748 on 2016/12/09 12:27
What an absolutely terrible program an app! I purchase dropbox pro two months ago to upload my iPhone photos onto dropbox so that I could then transfer them to my computer. I have had only problems from the beginning. My photos would upload extremely slow and get stuck in stop uploading at all. I contacted customer service after a month and it has since been six weeks of back-and-forth emails with them and nothing is working still. They don't have phone customer service and will only email with you and the email every few days so it is an extremely drawn out frustrating process. None of their tips have helped and so I finally asked for a refund which they have refused. They actually refused a refund for a nonworking service where none of their tips are helping it to work properly. I asked repeatedly to speak with a manager and they said I couldn't do that. What business model runs this way?? A very unprofessional one! What an atrocity! I've never heard of anything like that before. I would never ever recommend anyone purchased dropbox pro or use the app. Terrible experience.
Best free app in the App Store
by Tiger0812 on 2010/06/02 21:24
This is one of the very few apps that actually worked from the time I installed it on my computer and iPad and iPhone and iPod. The iPad and iPhone versions integrates with each other from installatin. And when you change the files & folders in the Dropbox they sync with your other devices. It alos integrates with Air Sharing, PDF Reader Pro, Goodreader, Documentt Downloader, Notebooks, Print Bureau and DocsToGo among other business & productivy apps as well as a stand-along by itself. DocsToGo is the easiest and best file & folder transfer/sync app in the App Store. I have tried many other apps similar, but then discovered that the DocsToGo that I already owned was the best and easiest to use. You can also put files and folders from DocsToGo in a Dropbox folder. You can transfer files from Dropbox on the iPad/iPhone into the apps listed above. Everyone who transfers or syncs files between computers and Apple devices should have this app.
Fabulous App-just wish the audio player worked better
by roaming_abroad on 2015/10/07 09:05
This is a great App and a great company. Extremely easy to use and a most valuable way to a) collaborate, and b) keep critical files in a safe place. BUT how I wish DropBox would make the audio player work. We're collaborating on sharing audio files and we can't get the file to load onto the device to be available "offline." The App does not provide any feedback on whether the file is downloading. Say you're at 15 minutes into the audio and a) go back to say 7:00, everything ahead that was downloaded is instantly lost and it starts over again, and b) there's no precise way to move back to a specific part of the recording. The controls are too small, too imprecise. That's just. Wish list for an otherwise very very usual App. The website is actually much better developed when it comes to audio files--really wish the App could catch up.
Forget you Dropbox
by iPadReady on 2014/01/26 17:52
Yeah another one of these clown companies that forgot how many first edition iPads were sold, millions and yet now you see there is an updated but only for 7.0 iso iPads. First this behavior is one reason I will never but another iDevice, too short of life span, too, too, quick of hardware changes which the app writers are not willing to keep up. $850 for an iPad? Think again, not worth more than $150 no matter what the version based on the short life span of app updates.. This devices live off apps, no apps updates, you have a useless device. As for this app? Well if you like reinstalling, the older version of course, over and over, go for it. It seems to stop seeing the updates/changes to the network storage over time. I have given up trying to tell Dropbox to sort it, that triggers it to misbehave. It is like DropBox has a local index of what is stored, that is all it sees, the only way to get it to sync with the network storage is to delete the app and reinstall, over and over and over, until you get the idea and deleted it with no restore, telling DropBox to "Forget You" Gee, you start to depend on these apps then this crap.
Must for Dropbox Users
by Kevlar1 on 2014/03/18 02:05
There are several cloud options, and all have their own good and bad points, so it isn't worth recommending one cloud option over the others in this space. However, if you are a dropbox user, there is no reason why you shouldn't download this app. Other apps that use dropbox as cloud options relay to this app to allow their apps to be connected to dropbox, so you don't have to leave dropbox account name and password to each app. You feel more secure this way. Since iPad and iPhone don't have file systems, dropbox app more or less work as file manager for the system, making this app an essential for many users. However, there is one gripe that I always have over several years of using dropbox app. It doesn't allow me to rename files. You can delete, move files to another folder, etc., etc., but you can't rename files. When this app finally gets that functionality, it will definitely earn 5 stars from me.
Perfect for Group Projects
by Skinica on 2010/02/12 16:59
Dropbox has been useful for just coordinating my files when working either on my laptop, school, or fiancee's computer. But it has a godsend for a project I'm working on with a partner. We're serving as legal counsel to a nonprofit organizations, doing several discrete projects and creating pamphlets, educational devices, candidate fact sheets, candidate questionnaires, etc. Dropbox (a) lets me see old versions if there's ever a mistake, (b) let's me instantly see any updates that my partner makes, (c) allows me to see if anything has been changed via my iphone. Compared to MobileMe's iDisk, this thing takes the cake (assuming you don't need anything more than 2-3gb, which is plenty for sharing documents). I can have active syncing over multiple computers, intuitively share files, and email a link to the file directly on my iphone or computer. And I can do it all for free. 10 stars out of 10 stars.
Great app!
by Big Bease on 2012/12/15 09:09
I use it all the time! While reading other's reviews, I can't help but notice how petty some of the complains are that would cause one to give this app such a bad rating! This is a great app! Does everything you can really ask of it as far as functionality goes. Yes it could probably be cleaned up a little with an upgrade to the user interface, but really? Your going to complain about 2 free GB of storage that can share files with your computer because it has flaws in its presentation? It's a class interface that doesn't look like someone created the program during a drunken all night programming session, most people shouldn't be worried with what color they chose to make their background. Easy to use and very helpful when sending files. Doesn't bog down my phone when sending e-mails with drop box attachments. Sends like a regular e-mail. I highly recommend...and it's free, quit complaining...
It’s Alright
by Firey432 on 2015/02/28 02:27
Don’t get me wrong.. I like this app and 9/10 times, it works flawlessly. My only issue is the way that photos and files are organized makes it very difficult to browse anything. For example, if I added a file to a folder with 100 other images, viewing under “Files” is a long list. If I view under “Photos”, some newly uploading pictures that probably weren’t created “recently” drop to months ago which makes looking for them very difficult. Also, their free space has been quite generous to me. Although this doesn’t affect my rating, it annoys me how Dropbox offers 1TB for $10 a month or their pro services. Sorry, but as a consumer, I’m just more tempted to try Google Drive or OneDrive as they offer 100GB for $2. Since I currently use only 40GB, I see no reason to pay so much for space, especially when using a 128GB SSD MacBook, therefore I can’t even store that much on a normal basis. I was a huge fan of Dropbox, as everything with it works flawlessly, but the pricing option is just really poor.
Extremely positive--love this app
by zappabeefheartfan on 2010/09/27 16:01
I am just delighted with Dropbox and with this app. I use dropbox constantly for my work, almost exclusively to work on word files. Havn't yet used it for larger files, like photos or music, but that should work too. So far, its perfect. I've created several folders to share with colleagues and with family and its just great to have the access. I made one for my son, for example, so he could save his homework in a file where he could always access it (at school for example when he forgets to bring it!) and where I can look at it, even when I am traveling (using the iphone app)!!. I find the dropbox iphone app works very well with on-phone text editing programs, like quickoffice. Quickoffice costs $10 but dropbox is free as long as you only use 2 GB. Thats not a lot or a huge amount, depending on what you need to do. For me 2GB is just fine, and I am loving this app.
There's a huge Problem...Live Photos
by Nanananana53737 on 2016/01/30 21:28
I love Dropbox so much! It is truly my daily file storage driver for keeping all of my files, folders, and images in there! But....I am hesitating to store my photos in there, actually, simple because of the lack of Live Photos support. Guys, it doesn't make sense to me that the second iOS 9 came out, you jumped out of your way to implement new features such as Spotlight search, 3D Touch, etc. but failed to implement one of the most precious features which is the support for Live Photos. Because of the lack of its availability, I am keeping my Live Photos originals onto my phone just in case I want to jump ships (which I really don't want to do)! Without the implementation of Live Photos support, your app is deadly mediocre despite the fact of how much you publicize your photo and video upload! Please please please...Implement this in the NEAR, NEAR future & if I don't see it by then, I am afraid that I will have to find an alternative. Thanks for everything you do & am waiting for a response! :)

Dropbox is one of the most important apps I own. A week before my phone was stolen, I had gotten this app and uploaded my entire camera roll and was able to get all of my photos back. It's also useful to save storage on my phone because I can just upload my photos and then delete them from my camera roll, but still be able to view them in the app. But I only have 2 problems with it: 1.) I would like there to be an edit option so I can crop my photos, because it's really annoying when I crop a photo on my phone and then when I upload it, it uncrops it. 2.) I don't like the fact that the app has to be open in order to upload the photos on my camera roll. It takes a really long time and I don't want to have to wait for it to finish, and I don't want to leave it open in case my phone becomes over heated from being open to long. Overall this is a great thing to have and I highly recommend getting it.
The Best!
by noalarms on 2015/09/26 17:39
You know what's nice about this app? I never think about it. I've been using Dropbox since it was available to the public and I don't think I've ever had a single problem with it. It's there when I need it and working in the background when I don't. For all the people complaining about the cost and only having a few gigs of free storage, please calm down. This company should get paid for what they do. Do you work for free? I don't think so. The free level of Dropbox is to show you how it works so you can try it before you buy it. I tried it for a few years until I needed more space and then I started paying. You can go get better pricing or free options from other companies but from my experience they're not as good. Plus, you have to ask yourself how some of these other companies can give so much free space away. What are they getting in return from you?
A totally essential app
by adaptiveagile on 2017/03/19 16:27
Dropbox has saved me so much time with its built in scanning features. I take pictures of documents with either my iPad or iphone and get lightweight, perfect PDFs for filing. Zero complaints about the app. Moreover the new convert to scan features make this the killer filing system app. Only downside is that they cash your trashed items, which show up on your history. That is a privacy violation that is unacceptable. I expect they will address this issue in an update because I know a lot of people are upset with this policy. That aside, the best app around for remote storage and document management. The scan technology they use beats any of the scanner apps I've purchased or tried by a mile. Their black and white render, for example has the best quality of any scanner app, without jagged edges on straight lines. Masterpiece app -- just fix the bloody caching of privately disposed data please.
How to fix crashing in 1.5
by h_nodder on 2012/06/15 01:15
I wanted the new capability of moving/deleting multiple files at once with version 1.5, so I upgraded from the previous version on my 4th generation iPod Touch running iOS 5.1.1. Like other reviewers, I found that 1.5 crashed after I entered my passcode. I deleted the app and reinstalled it (this has apparently fixed other apps' upgrade problems), logged into it again and set the Passcode Lock, and it works fine now (Your Mileage May Vary). The only thing I lost is the "favorited" (starred) status of selected files; I needed to favorite them again so they would be stored locally on my device. This delete and reinstall actually helped me clean out some favorites which I really wasn't using, so it freed up a little more space on my iPod. I mostly use Dropbox to read PDF files -- it's actually more convenient than some other free, dedicated PDF reader apps.

Dropbox is the only good cloud file service, I'm convinced of this. I've used it for years, and despite the company's troubles it's remained the most solid. I've tried iCloud Drive, OneDrive, Google Drive (which ranks a close 2nd for me), and I also use Creative Cloud as a designer and design student. Dropbox is the only app that integrates deeply with Office documents, PDFs, and it handles Adobe files perfectly acceptably. It's the only cloud file service that lets you edit files directly on mobile devices, whereas other cloud services make copies for you to edit. Then you have to delete the old file, move the edited one to the proper place, etc. etc. It's probably the only service that I *happily* pay for to support the team who makes it. Yes, it has its difficulties but they are amount to far less than other cloud services. Hope my good review offsets the bad, Dropbox is the best.
The best, the very best
by Sonichedgehogback on 2010/07/21 00:59
This is one of my 2 most used apps on the iPhone and iPad. You say it's simple, an everyday idea right...? Wrong. The extent of integration, seamlessness and performance of drop box is stunning. My wife and I use this app to exchange files on a regular basic. Eg she just scanned a doc on her widows box and put it in drop box, then i picked it up on my iPad. I just needed a pic transferred from my iPhone to my desktop and I was going to use it again, but got taken over by a bout of gratitude and decided to write a quick review. Despite my extensive use of db i am not a paying customer. I don't need the extra space - still o would be happy to pay... Hint to the company - give me a reason, any simple reason and my credit card will come peeling out. Example - fine grained sharing - let me create users and selectively give them access to files... I think that would be a real killer app.
Ok product with lousy support
by P9thon 4rms on 2014/12/10 22:20
This was my main cloud service for a couple of years. Recently I added Google Drive for improved file sharing and increased memory--Google offers a lot more for less, so I can store my media there as well as documents. The other day I fired up my old laptop, and apparently DropBox took that as a signal to delete any files and folders that were added since the last time that laptop was used--about 2012. While I still technically have all of my files--DB caches them in Windows--all of the organization is gone, so I have about two thousand business files organized alphabetically. Their help articles didn't offer any solution that worked, and I spent a couple of hours Googling for a solution without success. Supposedly DB can fix this by rolling your folders back to a previous date, but as of today it's been ten days and while they did respond to my initial request with an email, they have not performed the rollback and have ignored my three followup requests. I'm in real estate and my entire business is in those files, so my life is a mess right now.
New to the 'cloud'
by Bomkweesha on 2011/05/28 04:45
As my title says, I'm still learning the ropes as far as navigating storing information in the cloud. I've heard nothing but the highest praise of Dropbox from several of the blogs out there and I decided to give it a try. I am now a total believer! I love the fact that I can save things to Dropbox and always have access to them, for quick reference! For me it also cuts down on the need to carry one more thing around! If I need to look at a document I can easily pull it up on my iPad and look it over. Probably the only thing stopping this from being a perfect app for me is the fact that (at least from iOS devices) you cannot edit text from the app. I have several pieces of writing stored and I would love to be able to change a sentence or add another paragraph from the app versus having to open Pages or another word processing app that you can't save back into. Otherwise, this app is amazing!!
Horrible naming scheme for photos
by Jason Jones 3 on 2015/02/18 08:50
I use Dropbox a lot from my desktop and would use more from my phone but the app offers no options for Tate naming of photos you upload. I want to keep the same name as used by the phone. No messing with any of the meta/exif data either. If there are name conflicts then let me decide how to resolve and offer choices like windows. Currently the app names photos with the month and day and time. Two years of data will sort together alphabetically. Very lame. The carousel app is better for naming but still does not offer a choice. If you don't upload all you photos with dropboxes apps, you'll have duplicates around with the iOS name and the Dropbox name. Very very annoying. Google drive doesn't do this. The other file manager apps for iOS keep the iOS filename and don't tweak the meta data either. If they didn't exist, I'd cancel my Dropbox subscription altogether. The new integration into iOS 8 is very cool. If they just fixed the naming scheme, it would be a perfect solution. Now I avoid it for mobile use.
Better than Google Docs
by bfcoats2 on 2010/08/23 21:27
I rarely write a 5/5 star review, but this app has earned it. Dropbox is easier to use (iPhone and computer versions), supports more file formats, and comes with twice the free storage than Google Docs. This app is great to use as part of my flight training business, especially with the favorites being available when you are not connected to the Internet (i.e. airplane mode). It also works on operating systems as old as Windows '98se (I haven't tried any older OSs) or as new as Windows 7. Highly recommended, this app is a "must have" for any businessman, teacher, or anyone else with an iPhone trying to avoid carrying their laptop around with them everywhere they go. I keep my flight and ground lesson plans in my dropbox so that I can access them from my iPhone, even in the cockpit or on the tarmac -- anywhere on (or above) planet Earth!
Dropbox good. Pro needs heads up re: losing Carousel
by ShaneStreet on 2015/11/05 04:40
The Dropbox software has been great, but please cancel my Dropbox Business trial ASAP and re-enable my Carousel capability. Losing Carousel is a deal breaker, as it has been the most essential value to my small business. If not for this, I would give Dropbox 4-5 stars. I started the trial to expand into accessing more of my non-picture/video files, but was surprised to lose the ability to share with & present picture files with clients as planned just before I needed to do so after starting the trial business upgrade. I am not interested in paying for two accounts. Please let me know when it is possible to automatically back up my camera roll via a business account and manage albums conveniently from there in a manner similar or better than Carousel. Side note only - for what it is worth: I like having Carousel as a backup and means to share picture and video files. The only reason that I do not use Carousel more (more than when I just cannot burn up the memory for certain project albums on the mobile device) is because I cannot modify the pictures in Carousel. Also, pictures edited on my mobile device's camera roll software do not get uploaded automatically to DropBox. That includes, at a minimum, the ability to rotate pictures. The ability to crop and improve photo quality details would be the icing on the cake.
Great Addition to an already Terrific Service
by ericschwartz on 2009/09/29 21:42
I am a fairly new Dropbox user and am using their free version that offers me 2GB of space. Dropbox has been great syncing my some of my files on my work PC and my home MAC. Having the ability to now access my files anywhere in the world is awesome! I going to re-evaluate how I use Dropbx because I will now have access to my files anywhere. Just as described, the App is easy to use. As soon as I logged into the App using the same user name and password as my Dropbox account, a new iPhone introduction pdf snyced to my computer. That was fast! I like the ability of emailing out a link to any of my files in case I need that option. For a future version, I would like to see a search function that can look through all of my folders to speed of the process even more.
Worse every update
by most original nick on 2014/02/02 18:21
Have been using DB for several years and have no complaints with desktop version. HATE ipad version more and more with each update. It seems all that each update does nothing but add gloss while removing substance and makes the app increasingly slow, clunky, and annoying. Way too stripped down (can't rename files, for example.) HATE the intrusiveness of the left menu--figured out you have to tap a photo to view full screen, but still wondering why you can't just collapse that effing menu with an "x" or arrow instead of a gesture. Not fond of the initially baffling "..." thing to do two very common tasks (select and upload) while icons I never use (favorites, photos, settings) reside in valuable screen space along the bottom. As for the settings, NOTHING about the interface can be customized..why is this placed so prominently? Cannot express how much I HATE that I must give DB location data to upload photos. Everyone knows this is pure corporate BS and not a technical requirement--together with all else, it is the last straw for me. Bye bye DB ipad!
!!! DELETE DROPBOX APP AND REINSTALL - JUST UPGRADING CAUSES IT TO START CRASHING !!!
by DB4IP on 2012/06/15 05:25
In order to use the latest update, you will need to uninstall the app and then reinstall it. Just upgrading it will cause the app to start crashing. This crashing cannot be corrected by rebooting. This used to be a 4 star app but now I give it 3 stars due to this problem. Dropbox should have tested their upgrade process much better. The Dropbox app is a very nice app. It allows me to store my documents in the cloud so any of my devices can access them. It works cery well and is very useful since many apps support Dropbox integration. However, the Deopbox iOS app is rather limited in that it lacks many file management features such as move, copy, rename, create and delete folders, zip and unzip, etc. I should not have to use the desktop version for such features. Please add them ASAP and the Dropbox app would be great, merit 5 stars and eliminate my need to have to resort to other apps such as iFiles.
Great
by skartreuse on 2013/12/09 00:10
Great design and all-around service. I've been using Dropbox for years for school work and it's saved me plenty of times when I forgot to pick up my papers from my printer. I really wish you could improve the music player though. I was running out of space on my iPad so I had to delete all my music. I was hoping to use Dropbox or an app that plays music off of Dropbox but none of those work. The music player right now isn't best. It doesn't have loop, loop one, shuffle, etc. It also takes a lot of time to load each song before they actually play. If you do consider improving the player, also think about how some people organize their music in a folder called Music and sub folders by artists and albums. Perhaps make an option to only play certain folders and/or play all sub folders.
why not add delete from camera roll?
by tacoburn70 on 2016/06/12 14:53
I use OneDrive more then Dropbox because I have an Office 365 subscription paid up until dec 2017, which includes 1TB of space for me & my whole family as well (up to 5 accounts). What I don't understand though, is why these cloud drive services, none of them, have an option to delete photos & videos from camera roll after upload?? getting em off the phone is whole point in using that feature in first place. Also an option to restore select photos back to your camera roll. sharing to facebook could share the photo instead of link to the photo too. Another wanted feature might be adding auto syncing of music & documents too. with most iphone users being limited to 16gb of space with each additional 16 costing $100 each, most iphone users are looking for that option.
Handy and solves a big iPhone/iPod Touch deficiency
by EJonC on 2010/02/20 18:42
IMHO, one of the biggest deficiencies of the iPhone/iTouch is the difficulty in storing files locally. I travel internationally, where data rates are obscene, so I like to store important documents (flight schedules, hotel info, key documents, etc) locally before I go. There are several applications that let you do this (Files, FileDev, etc), but they're all awkward to use when you're dealing with dynamic IP addresses. This is the *perfect* solution within the limits imposed by Apple themselves (I'd much prefer actual access to the file system, but Apple doesn't allow that). You can access your documents easily, and by simply marking them "favorite" a local copy is kept that you can look at when you don't have web access. I haven't used it long, but so far it's worked flawlessly.
Dropbox still the best
by Lazy Robot on 2011/04/20 06:48
Now that everyone wants a piece of cloud services business, there are so many apps that claim to offer similar services as dropbox. I've tried zumodrive, and despite the high ratings, it is no where as good. The computer program and iPad app for zumodrive are very buggy, I still have the crap sample music in my iPad zumodrive library even after deleting it everywhere else. Dropbox is way more reliable and it's even better now with the recent updates. Dropbox can be used to open word/pdf documents that you download from the web, which you are effectively uploading to dropbox (theres no folder to actually save documents onto your iPad homepage, so you can only send documents to dropbox via other apps such as pages or safari). But it works nonetheless. Zumodrive cannot do any of this.
Turn off default settings
by Johnger1234 on 2013/10/14 18:48
I am just tying out drop box to transfer photos and videos to and from my iPhone 5s to my IPad3. One option I do not like is that "Camera Upload" is turned on by default. I would prefer that Camera Upload is turned off by default at first use. Then users can turn it on if they choose. Video files take up a lot of room and I don't want every video file on my iPad or iphone uploaded to Dropbox only those that I want to transfer between iDevices. Also I don't want things to automatically sync to all my devices by default. People can turn these options on if they want these options but these settings should not be turned on by default. It sounds a little like what Facebook does by turning on options by default when certain options should be turned off by default. Maybe if a message could pop up at first use informing users of these setting so they can turn them on if the individual user wants the option.
3 glaring issues
by Now-playing on 2016/05/04 06:09
I have never bothered to take the time to review an app, but these are things you want to know and may affect how you feel about downloading this app. 1. Upload rate is horrendous. It takes minimum two minutes to upload a standard iPhone picture. (I have 600) 2. Which brings me to the second part of this issue...Even if I authorize the app to run in the background, it stops loading when you leave the app (I am also on wifi and plugged in) 3. Which brings us to the third issue, and my concern resounds on a deeper note... WHY CANT I AUTHORIZE THE APPLICATION TO CONTINUE TO UPDATE IN THE BACKGROUND, WITHOUT GIVING YOU PERMISSION TO ACCESS AND TRACK MY CURRENT LOCATION, AT ANY TIME OF DAY OR NIGHT, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE APP IS EVEN RUNNING? I pay you to safeguard my documents, not collect additional information about where I am every minute of every day. This is an invasion of my privacy and it does not help the app to function. The only thing your app (you) need to be concerned with is whether or not I have wifi at a given moment or whether I authorize you to use cellular data to operate in the background. Considering I pay you to preserve my documents and pictures, there is no reason that I should be required to allow you to invade my privacy and give you more information than is necessary for you to safeguard my documents and take my money. Please explain why you need to know where I am 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.
Keep page open?
by Student7098 on 2013/12/15 22:56
I use this app a lot for viewing things for study. I used to be able to open the app, go to the document I wanted, and then flip through other apps. Then, when I would return to Dropbox, the document would remain open for viewing. Since the new update, after a few minutes of the app not being in use, it goes back to the main menu instead of the document I was viewing. It's so frustrating to have to keep going thru my folders to open up the document again! I hope this will change over the next update... Still hoping it will change.... Please!!!!!! Thank you. Also it'd be good to see the time and iPad information at the top like you used to. Now the document takes up the whole screen! Please please please these are easy changes...it used to be this way so make it go back!!!
iOS 8 integration, particularly doc picker, is bad
by Bud Gibson on 2014/11/04 14:30
Dropbox is integral to my workflow. I have all of my most important documents on there, and I use the packrat service to maintain copies of my files over time in case I delete any by accident. I have also integrated it in with a number of my other services. Effectively, it is my digital hub. HOWEVER, I have one giant complaint, enough to knock the iOS app from 5 stars to 3 stars and make me start to consider alternative services. Dropbox has done a frustratingly incomplete integration with iOS 8's new doc picker. For instance, go to any iWork app and hit the plus sign. You'll see a list of services from which you can open files. Go to the more item, and it will appear that you can select dropbox to appear in this list, but no, you can't. Sure, you can toggle the dropbox switch, but it never appears as one of your choices when it comes time to selecting files. Box, a dropbox competitor, does implement this functionality quite well, so it IS NOT AN IWORK PROBLEM. I get the impression that dropbox is fighting on too many fronts at once. They want you to route your mail through mailbox and always back up your photos to them. What I want is a way to conveniently access my documents across multiple devices. Period. I am now actively considering alternatives to dropbox. They need to fix this functionality.
Impressive Customer Care
by Pokirgzhi on 2015/01/27 04:14
I must say that I was never able to use Dropbox the way I thought it worked BUT when someone hijacked an email account of mine THE ONLY COMPANY that realized just how serious this was and replied to me IMMEDIATELY was Dropbox. They not only told me what to do to protect myself in their App...they sent me a long list of all other Apps I should make changes in regardless of status of competitive apps! Their #1 concern was ME! The email company that I pay for annually still has not fixed my situation, they don't seem to even understand the circumstances. Dropbox is now an app I will go out if my wY to learn how to use properly because they want to help you and help you with other apps that don't benefit them! I hope many people read this review because I am not easily impressed!
Not bad but organized horribly
by FutureMrsBrady on 2015/11/18 20:37
Overall, no complaints with the app. It functions very well and I especially love the new fingerprint security access feature. I've never had any issues at all with it crashing or losing files or an inability to retrieve files. My only complaint is more aesthetic and centers on how it sorts your files and folders. It's very heavily focused on providing access to individual files outside of their respective sub folders (organized by date last opened/saved). I organize my files specifically by folders and not having those right in front of me in the same fashion I would see it in the Finder window on my Mac is a little annoying. You can search by file name but sometimes I don't recall what I saved something as but could pull it up quickly via its folder. But besides that, it does as advertised.
Wonderful App So Far
by jbaranski on 2009/09/30 00:49
This app is very useful to me and functions well as far as I've used it. The idea to favorite items works well. Playing audio files is great too. However I'm already having issues with it. For one, there is no zoom function for images, which is very useful at times and something I use quite often. Also, I find myself unable to edit even simple text files. I happen to use a .txt file to communicate back and forth with someone, which is great and was looking forward to doing this in the mobile app. I do realize this is a 1.0 release and will likely be improved upon, so these are simply my suggestions for improvements that could be made. Oh and some sort of sorting option would be nice. Good job on the app. I hope to see even more from you all.

Didn't need the fancy new grid view in this update - instead users still need the basics, like the ability to auto upload pics from devices

by AnnoyedHeavyUser on 2017/04/24 04:12
Painful on old iPad 3 with this latest update.
Needs to be addressed asap then will update review.

by Jessb253 on 2017/04/22 06:32

by Anhtuanpda on 2017/04/22 02:21

Shameful. Grade: D-

by Jackinator94 on 2017/04/16 18:10
I've been using Dropbox the past 2-3 years. It's a great tool to use as I often forget my USB's and I transfer various files from my phone to my laptop in order to free up space. This app is alright. It does sometimes glitch though. My phone storage sometimes appears as 'almost full' even when I deleted many files from Dropbox.

Buh byeeee

by Snow Whie on 2017/04/06 21:23
I have used Dropbox for about 6 years now and have been a huge fan, until now!

However once I got to the "manage apple ID" or whatever there was nothing that said "dropbox", like the app said there would be, so apparently after 30 days I'll be paying $10 a month and I don't know how to stop it. thanks

Life Saver
by Non ya business! on 2014/05/30 17:01
Dropbox is one of the most important apps I own.

Great
