Photos used to be better
by charlietoon92 on 2022/05/24 19:08
There used to be a really helpful year slider on the right side of the screen to quickly navigate to different years. Why is this gone? Takes forever now to scroll to a specific year. This and a few other changes to the photo section have made the app a lot worse imo
Misleading or not “new” versions
by what8ever on 2022/05/24 05:54
5/23/2022 v280.1 what’s new is what was “new” in versions 244.x thru 270.x two to nine months ago. Reality is they don’t do anything. 4/6/2022 v274.2 of “What’s new” is the same as 23 previous updates going back 8 months and likely further back. (Well, except for version 272.2.) In spite of DB stating that they update the app often, their written “new” states otherwise. Removing another star. 3/10/2022 v270.2 “What’s new” listing is the same as each update since v240.2 eight months ago (and possibly further back). Either they’re lazy to write real descriptions of changes or they are not capable of fixing problems and making new problems with the so called new features. DB basically works for me but is not my main cloud storage. 2/27/2016 No longer supports iOS 7.1.2. Compatibility stopped some time after v4.2.1. Rating = 2 10/14/2015 v4.0.4 Still working well but still wish to be able to set a preference in Setting to open to Files instead of Recents as stated in my 7/17/2015 review. [iP5 & iPad Air iOS 7.1.2] Rating = 4 7/17/2015 Overall great. I would like to be able to set a preference for the section the app opens to, i.e., Recents, Files, Photos, Favorites, or Settings. Currently, it opens to Recents but most of the time I want Files. iOS 7.2 2/16/2013 Sweet: new PDF viewer = 5 Search, chapters, pages grid, side scroll button, and dictionary are all great features. The only thing missing is annotation, but I don't always need that. I had an instance of a PDF not showing when viewing another time, but I just tapped the pdf again and I loaded just fine. Specs: iPhone 5; iOS 6.0.1
They keep billing!!!
by njeis on 2022/05/23 15:44
I love iphone but I made a big mistake of subscribing to a trail because an article on a website inly gave me permission to view it if I opted for dropbox so I opted for a trial. My Dropbox notifications went to email spam (why?- nothing else I subscribe to goes to spam!!) so you I did not really get notification of renewal. Once I saw that I've been billed $13 promptly cancelled it and got an cancellation confirmation but now again got a message for renewal - i probably got a message because my card had expired and the app was unable to automatically renew (which is most likely illegal after a customer has cancelled an app and they have sent a confirmation). Why are so many people having trouble cancelling your app? Why don’t you have a solution? Is it rocket science?
Long time customer, I’m gone!
by Chgo129366 on 2022/05/23 13:09
Since the beginning DropBox has been seamless, simple and dependable. New features create complexities and complications, and now I get sync errors. Support help doesn’t help at all, as they send you long procedures and offer no individual assistance. I cancelled the service and they still charge me. CANCEL NOW!
Has gotten much worse
by rhjeieooefjnfndkrk on 2022/05/23 12:16
Logged in for the first time in a while and found this service to be much worse than it used to be. Trying to get all my stuff to drive as fast as possible.
Dropbox
by studloverboy on 2022/05/22 14:43
Is just a good place for videos and photos for me whatever memories type stuff I’ll put it in here. Though I am hoping for better plans I don’t pay anything but you can for more space the options are great right now but when they bring more space options definitely will pay for it monthly.

Confusing to get around the app.
by JoeJoe0202 on 2022/05/22 00:16
I have been using Dropbox for many years now but I think this will be my last year. It was very easy to use when I first subscribed but now it very confusing and I find myself getting frustrated with it that I end up not using it at all.

5/20/22 iOS update saving another file as opposed to asking to update an existing file.
by immimis on 2022/05/20 22:59
I could not find a way to contact Support other than the Community or bot. Neither had the answer. 5/20/22 iOS export out of Pages UPDATE command is saving duplicate files in Dropbox as opposed to asking to update an existing file. Besides being terribly frustrating, this is going to eat up space very quickly. I believe t his is a bug which began with the APP update on iPhone and iPad. I have signed in and out; deleted and reloaded, as well as restarted both devices. Same annoying problem. Please fix.
Files corrupt!
by Harley Man 1974 on 2022/05/20 14:14
I’ve been using drop box for years and always have had an issues with files going corrupt from one day to the next. Now I have thousands of pictures, many old memories when my kids were young, and our adventures. All of them, gone! I will be switching back to one drive. This is absolutely ridiculous. Why pay for two tb of storage for a crap load of corrupt files! No, I haven’t called drop box because they are just going to tell me there is nothing they can do about it. Very frustrated, very sad.
Best in class Cloud Storage / Local Sync
by JeffnKrewe on 2022/05/20 00:44
Been using for years (like iPad ver one), and love it! Started using it for markdown notes and need to find a good MD editor for my iPhone to modify and create new notes. I’m currently using the native edition in Dropbox to modify but can’t create .md files (or don’t know how to change the extension. GREAT PRODUCT!
Love it!!

This has basically become my new uploading app. Cheers to Jasmine Friedl!!🥳
Uploading change
by RAM Houston on 2022/05/19 21:13
Files that get uploaded when signal is low gets put on the back burner and forgot about. It takes me finding the files and watching them slowly upload to get them sent. Liked it when they uploaded one at a time better than this new method.
Quickly becoming a terrible app
by mikecxadsfer on 2022/05/19 21:12
Dropbox has become very intrusive just like Google and Microsoft. They are constantly trying to steal and mine for your personal information at rapid speeds. It amazes me! They don’t want you to send them information as far as feedback or contact them in any kind of way. They want you to go through forums and chat rooms and communities just like Google and Microsoft it’s ridiculous that you can’t even call someone send email to someone or ask a stupid question they want you to jump through hoops and find this and find that research then go here we go there ridiculous.
Selecting files/photos 1 by 1 is ridiculous
by haute-toddy on 2022/05/19 19:25
Where is the “select all” function please? Please add this basic function asap or I will cancel account Thank you very much
Update revisions listings… haven’t done so in a long time. Constantly requesting.
by ScottyTooHotty2Care on 2022/05/18 04:18
Great app, and after many complaints you finally updated the revision list for the update, but now again are being lazy and repeating old list. Would like to know why I’m updating, not all of us automatically allow this and want insight on what’s happening.
Big video compression when using Dropbox on iPad
by zyxwvuts on 2022/05/18 01:01
Just a heads up to users using dropbox professionally—using it on an iPad means big time compression of video files (without telling you). I found out the hard way working with a client. It’s silly—I’m on an $1800 iPad Pro and the app is treating it like an iPad 2. I thought using the web-app (through Safari) would work when the app didn’t, but still mad compression. Time to catch up with the times or at least let users know compression is happening.
NOT able to upload multiple photos or files using the iOS Share Extension!
by dglhi on 2022/05/17 00:08
I was so happy to see that Dropbox claims to have fixed one of the big negatives in using their app which is the inability to upload multiple photos at a time directly from the photo app or Files app in iOS to Dropbox. The latest update states… “Upload multiple photos or files from your camera reel, email and other applications directly into Dropbox using the iOS share extension.” THIS DOES NOT WORK! As soon as more than one photo or file is selected, the ability to share to Dropbox disappears. Very disappointed this needed improvement has not been correctly implemented!
My GoTo storage but now less useful on mobile
by Uriel51 on 2022/05/16 16:35
I have used Dropbox for many years (decades) since it started & have considered it the most useful, reliable & recommended application for storing everything, including most recently my photos, so less paper storage with dependable storage. However, I mostly use an iPad so have depended on mobile features, one of which is viewing my activity for a week to ensure I have uploaded all my recent files to Dropbox. It seems just recently I can no longer view recent activity beyond a few hours so needing to check all my individual folders to do my weekly check, taking so much more time & effort to assure no working files were not uploaded. Using Dropbox on a Windows device is not so friendly or useful given the interface with my Windows laptop. I am now considering migrating to Google as most of my vocational peers are doing.
Almost Perfect
by Hobbitide on 2022/05/16 13:20
Your app is almost perfect except one thing that absolutely drives me up the wall is no way to easily select all or select pictures in a folder fast so if you have 1000 pictures in a folder you want to download, you have to select every single one.
A Good App
by kosmima on 2022/05/15 22:32
I especially love taking a picture of a paper and turning it into a file! However, I can’t preview files on mobile. Otherwise, a great app!
Feels like an Android app
by shakergeek on 2022/05/15 20:53
1. Interface is not great 2. Moving and deleting are slow 3. Too many touches to do things Like creating a folder. Click create then click name then click done then click create. Totally unnecessary.

Uses a ton of space, then tells you you don’t have enough space to use it
by ShoobyTaylor on 2022/05/15 01:20
Hey Dropbox, maybe I’d have enough space for you to upload my photos if you didn’t immediately consume over a gigabyte of my space every time I installed you! This app requires me to uninstall it and reinstall it twice a day just to keep uploading, because every time I install it, it eats up a gig and a quarter of my drive, and then it “doesn’t have enough space to upload”. EDIT: funny, I just came here to complain about this, and apparently it’s been going on for so many years that I forgot that I wrote a review complaining about it long ago. After clearing cache, and without saving any files for off-line use, dropbox consumes 1.3 GB of my 32 GB drive all by itself. So I’m gonna lower to one star from two stars since they’ve let the problem go on for so long.
Stop lying!
by O2system on 2022/05/13 20:57
Love how the app says Dropbox will continue uploading in the background every-time I am uploading files only to come back to it with it not. And yea I have background refresh allowed in the iPhone settings. 5/13 Update : Issue still not resolved, dumb app keeps telling me to continue working while it uploads in the background until I come back to it only to see it has paused exactly where I left off.
No thanks
by hutch1138 on 2022/05/13 20:01
We can all agree racism is bad. Dropbox is openly racist against white people, therefore I will no longer be using Dropbox. I am white and also happen to be a straight male, which they would rather not treat fairly either. Horrible business and marketing.
I have to get more space just to view someone else’s folder?

Horrible company ethics
by AppleUser1404 on 2022/05/13 12:53
Unprofessional business. More of nauseating Cali culture discrimination. Nobody cares who or what color you hire, just make a good product without alienating people who aren’t the problem. There’s good or bad people period. No exclusivity to any group. Enough race baiting for social clout. That’s the worst type of loser. Do better.

Dropbox is woke
by tndan72727272 on 2022/05/12 02:57
The hiring manager of Dropbox expressed her dislike for white people on twitter. Jasmine Friedl says she wants to see less white people. This is extremely racist. Shame on Dropbox.

by lily_barney on 2022/05/11 19:57
Likes to have racist HR,Jasmine Friedl, employed at their company. Her exact words, “things I need more in my life: feminism, comedy, truth, and less white people.” - Twitter post. 5/3/22. Bye Dropbox 👋 I don’t do business with racist companies.

Works soooo bad with iPhone
by stevosreview on 2022/05/10 20:03
Like wow. Can’t upload any images or videos to Dropbox without having the app opened on screen. Takes forever to upload anything. Like five minutes For a single image 20 minutes for a 1 minute video when right next to router lol or even on cell signal. It’s just so bad!
Used to LOVE Dropbox
by chester71316 on 2022/05/10 16:34
I used it for years. Then I didn’t have access to my phone or computer for awhile which was completely out of my control. I had lost every single thing I owned. When I finally got a new phone all of the pictures of my grandparents who died, my nieces baby pictures, family pictures going back to when I was a kid, everything was just GONE. Over the past few years since it happened I’ve repeatedly tried to contact Dropbox for help. They wouldn’t even respond Otherwise I would give a five star review. I want to try using it again but I’m afraid everything will disappear again. I already lost a lifetime of important pictures and maybe it wouldn’t have been as bad if they had at least tried to help or even bothered to respond
the app is stupid and worse then the website
by robiolic on 2022/05/10 10:49
if i leave the app even for 10 seconds it crashes. you have to stay in the app and wait like a idiot for you stuff to upload.
Privacy and Security Issues
by Corey Ketring on 2022/05/09 20:14
I used the photo backup option with a Dropbox Professional account. I contacted support and asked if it backs up photos in the hidden album on iOS and Dropbox support assured me it would not back them up. They even escalated the question with a manager and the IT department to be sure. A few months later and it started uploading my hidden photos. I reached out to support and after a week of troubleshooting, and very infrequent replies (they take about 3 days per reply even when I paid for the professional plan) there’s no resolution or even any idea of why this happened. Other features work reasonably well, but the lack of support after paying $200 a year is frustrating. This app has had privacy scandals in the past, and I wouldn’t recommend this app unless customer support improves or they offer end-to-end encryption of files.
Menu options to export files do not work
by Brygiar on 2022/05/09 19:59
Cannot export files to outside apps like Books on iPad, menu options are broken. I depend on Dropbox to move files between my Mac and iPad. Fix it. And no I’m not paying for a subscription just to have the ability to export files.
Lost some valuable photos…
by ChelaGlez on 2022/05/09 17:32
I lost all my files from DropBox, including some valuable photos. From one day to another, my password became invalid and I was not able to retrieve any of my files. I stopped using DropBox over 10 years ago and switched to Box.com. I've only used Dropbox a couple of times when a coworker needs to share a photo or large file.

Dropbox Repeated Photos
by VonHawk1960 on 2022/05/06 14:58
5/6/22 I received the developers response. Although I’ve been through a long and tedious back and forth with the tech support personnel, they closed the case with it being unresolved. It appears that this duplicate photo issue has g be even happening for several years with no results to fix it. I used to really love this app, but recently when looking through my camera uploads from present to many years back, a majority of my photos have multiple duplicates. Technical support has not been very helpful and it’s very frustrating. I hope to find a better backup system soon.

Not too happy
by mckinneyz on 2022/05/05 21:46
I have been using Dropbox for many years and have a paid subscription. For the last 6 months or so the files will not update on my or my employees cell phones. I update the file daily on my computer with events and schedules. On our phones it will be current one day and not update again for four or five days. This is very frustrating for me in my business as staff needs 24/7 access to the file. And of course I have been unable to reach anyone in customer service for support.
Not good for PDF
by Thinker9999 on 2022/05/05 05:49
I can’t make annotations or even highlight PDF files within the Dropbox app. That’s a serious simple missing option. Also, I should be able to at least type something in an Excel spreadsheet. Cannot upload multiple photos from the reel straight to Dropbox as the latest update implies.
Worst file management ever
by chfdrt on 2022/05/05 00:52

Compatibility issues with Mac OS Monterey
by s5383759 on 2022/05/03 22:40
I use dropbox a lot for work and I downloaded it onto my Macbook laptop for easy access. It worked fine until I upgraded my OS to Monterey. Now this legacy extension issue is messing up the order of all my files. Nothing is in order. It's so hard to find things. Will have to go back to using dropbox through the browser with the annoying uploading and downloading to update files. Please update it so it can be fully compatible with future Apple OS.

Dropbox apps are lousy !
by tj4shee on 2022/05/01 16:02
Dropbox on a Mac forces you to create local copies in order to use it with folders. Dropbox has prevented using the iPad app on the M1. This is ridiculous Dropbox ! I have 2 Macs at home - why do I need to create 2 local copies of my Dropbox just to use your app ? The iPad Dropbox app hangs while other apps are using files on Dropbox - for instance, if I open a Numbers file that is on Dropbox, Numbers will hang every time Dropbox decides to try to sync files - and it hangs for minutes at a time ! Paying the money to increase my iCloud storage - moving all my files to it - it has a much better user experience.
Inaccessibility
by Glasscanary on 2022/04/30 21:11
The new change from Dropbox is very frustrating, and will push me towards a different file service. Links to Dropbox content no longer work on a mobile device without downloading the app. This is inconvenient for clients I work with accessing the files, many of whom do not have the app and the extra hassle of downloading is an unreasonable ask. Please change this rule.

I feel harassed
by Silvergirl73 on 2022/04/26 12:38
I was required to use Dropbox by some vendors and I can not afford another $10-20 suction on my account every month that all these apps are going to. I know you have costs but I don’t use this app and when I tried to delete files or save them to my computer to lower the storage there is a constant upgrade message and nothing easily accessible about allowing me to offload the files and go back to a smaller storage allowance. I really never use this app until required to to complete loan or legal documents. Please stop making customers feel harassed and harangued into upgrading something they really don’t use that often. Sincerely hope you think about that.

Drowning in abysmal confusion
by Lord Enoch on 2022/04/25 22:14
Too many many things that I have been unfortunately grinning my way through -honestly, I will be back to unpack it here. Some of the core issues: On macOS, I just can’t seem to get it to make a file online only and to give me the hard drive space back on my MacBook Pro. On iOS the above situation is the same but even more of a headache as it is seemingly eating away even more storage space.

Low customer satisfaction because of 1 thing ?
by concerned custmr on 2022/04/23 18:27
I can understand a limitation on the storage because your cheap! But it’s absolutely ridiculous …… in this time of age in which we are living for you to limit the # of devices that customers can use to access their own data stored in your drop box ? If you really think about it if a customer did not think of it from the perspective of our data and your dropbox then you would quite possibly have a lot more customers. One way of rectifying this is for a customer to think of dropbox as their personal dropbox for their own data! One way for sure is that it’s not by making money per ea. device or by multiple devices being utilized by a customer for one service. But, in fact by a customer utilizing all the devices to such a great extent that they simply feel that it is their dropbox - personal and intimate. The reason why it would be Considered to be personal and intimate is because the drop box service would be utilized in such a broader scope! It’s about convenience for a customer now a-days ! We need access to Dropbox all the time for example when we have our phone on the run during the day! We need dropbox during a stressful business meeting or a social event where we gain accessibility to our past memories as we share them in front of a group of people with pure ecstasy using our laptops ! We need dropbox while utilizing our tablet in bed at a leisure moment and where we feel at peace and at rest as we access storage from your company! Now with the price going up on so many things we need this free service on at least all three of these devices but just to use one device is ludicrous! The reason being is so many people often utilize at 3 devices on any given day!!! These feelings and emotions of a customer through there whole day will not be shared with drop boxes services. At least not to its full capacity because of the limitation you have placed on the amount of devices we can access throughout a busy day or a relaxing night! Remember, we use a laptop on the run possibly to meetings for work/business or possibly a social event; because, of the HDMI , multi ports, usb and/or large hard drive accessibility. Then there’s the tablet it’s a lot more laid-back less features as a laptop and that would have to be used in bed or in the bedroom or at home in a leisure type environment. Even in a waiting room to catch up on current events, reading,,social media, review emails or stock market, surf the web etc. However, a phone is almost always on a customer and they may have to use the phone in any one of the above mentioned capacities. Although, somewhat limited concerning some of its functions: it will simply have to do in a pinch! Because ,the other devices are not as readily available at any given time due to its being such a small, convenient ,space saving type of device; it really can be brought anywhere anytime-simply in your pocket. So please , keep these facts in mind and please reconsider your charging us for multiple devices!

Lovely Continuity
by Cobb_ on 2022/04/20 18:17
I love how dropbox allows me to continuously update and access my files across multiple devices. It does this very intuitively. With a good organization system (which i only sort of have) it makes finding things very easy for me. The amount of space you have access to is also great! I am currently a student and I used dropbox for many of my school files

Awful
by f adds hshegshahaiwhshsqjj on 2022/04/20 14:17
They are obsessed with shutting you out of your files until you pay for their extra space. If you don’t need extra space prepare to be harassed to the next level. And if you have to save stuff that is in your Dropbox, forget about it. Loads to 60% then just quits. Companies should focus on making the free experience so awesome that we want to pay for more. This company focuses on strangling the free users so they have no choice but to pay or leave.
Regular user but frustrated
by kskeeves on 2022/04/20 14:14
Regular user of this app but have been frustrated lately (past year or so) with how it often freezes and closes out on me. I’ll be in the middle of going thru files and it just shuts down. While I love Dropbox and have been a user for years, this issue is super frustrating. Not sure what can be done but also after reading some reviews, and while normally I’m up to date with updates, I’m nervous to update to most recent version. Anyone else have this issue?

Dropped from a 5 star
by kkbarn1 on 2022/04/19 21:07
I use to love Dropbox! I would save all my important files in Dropbox and be able to access them and edit them from either my computer or my iPad. Super easy. HOWEVER, recently, I can no longer got to a file in Dropbox and open it in Word, for instance, and edit right from there. This loss has now rendered Dropbox useless for me right now. I also can’t open a blank document placed in Dropbox and edit it to take notes at a meeting, etc. I wish there was a FREE workaround for all my Office documents stored in Dropbox.

Great! But...
by Sjshdudjnrj on 2020/01/22 20:42
Ok, so first off, I want to let the devs know that they did an amazing job making this app. It has a simple design, looks great, and is very user-friendly. One thing is that Google Drive offers 15GB for free, while I think Dropbox only offers 2GB. Maybe for the free version, upgrade that a little bit. Anyway, I mainly use Dropbox over any other service, because I believe it's better, but I might have to switch to Google Drive for more free storage. The one thing that I would add to it, is shortcuts. For example, if I could have all my files in one big folder, and them scatter them across different folders using shortcuts to the same file, in the big folder. I use Dropbox to keep my music MP3's, but I can't have them in different floders without copying and pasting, which would take up twice the storage. I would have multiple folders, and ,for example, have my song in one folder, and another, without doubling the storage. I would want them both to point to the MP3 in the big folder with all my files, that I mentioned before. I would love to have this tool, and I'm sure a ton of others would. This would definitely bring you over the top better than the other cloud storage providers. Thank you for making an awesome program for us to use!
Horrible Background Battery Usage
by Parvani Symphony on 2021/01/07 14:20
I really love the app and it gives me the ability to share my files between my iPad and my desktop computer easily. I originially got Dropbox because Google Drive was draining my battery by constantly running in the background. Well, my battery has been draining again over time by almost 30% or more at times. I checked my battery usage and Dropbox was running in the background for 7 hours straight. Why? I looked up the issue, and someone mentioned the only way to fix it was to disable it in the File app on my device, but I don’t want to do that, because sometimes I do need to access things from that app, or move things that way. I understand that it checks the folder in Files and makes sure everything is synced to the actual Dropbox app, but 7 hours? There’s also an issue where if I upload items to Dropbox within the app, if I close the app, it stops uploading. I have to have the app open for it to finish uploading. I’ve never had to deal with that before. Not sure if these are Apple issues or Dropbox issues. I hope there’s another fix for it though, because I shouldn’t be going to sleep with my iPad at 100% and waking up to it already down to 70%. I guess I will do the temporary fix in files for now, unless I find another cloud service that doesn’t drain my battery all day.
Scary! Shared link - My recipient has access to my Dropbox account
by Travel brain on 2020/10/01 20:45
Hi. I have been using Dropbox for many years now. And it’s in my top three apps of about 200 apps in my iPhone. I will still “after this incident” give 5*. But something SCARY happened to me today. It goes like this..... Today I sent five links to one of my clients. I sent the links via outlook app on iphone 11 pro. After few hours my client called me back and said "I can see ALL your folders in your DropBox Account". I went to my account shared tab, so I may delete those links. Suprisingly those links are not in the shared link list. Then I went to the security tab in settings and I changed my password. Then I logged out from dropbox in my phone, and sent an email with shared links to myself. When I click the links I received, they automatically open my dropbox, though I'm signed out. To confirm that I launched my dropbox app but it asks me to login. Finally. I took down ALL my files and transferred them to my iCloudrive . My Dropbox account is empty now! Anyway. I think this is a big security issue. For now, can some one help me to expire the liniks which I sent to my client. Or is there a way to recall an email that I sent fifteen hours ago. outlook app for iphone. please help. thanks

My smart phone has my resume in pdf. Form and that should be it. But no, these stupid app companies are in bed together and so I have to keep downloading app after app after app just apply for jobs. Each app just another security risk, just another way for my info to end up in the wrong hands. Might as well be you know what in a box, Totally unacceptable. Zero stars is the real review. Stop making cloud based crap we already have through oh idk the 16 other apps that do a similar job. This is an edit...after reading some reviews I ask those people if they are using windows 98? Do you not remember that our smart phones and their services were already doing all of this? Did you not already have cloud based service through your smart phone brand or google? Why accept yet another app that is cloud based for yet another way to have your private photos and documents out in another cloud. “The devs are smart” yeah after building the same features into every other cloud based app they realized they needed another job so here is Dropbox, next year it will be “boxdrop” or “doccushare3000”! I’m sure there is some feature that is unique to Dropbox that has you all saying that it’s totally different. You mean something that could have just been added to any other cloud based service? I know it’s free but I didn’t want another app on my phone, another account, another, another, another, another......
Great for Storage
by Vanfleets on 2021/05/10 22:12
I use Dropbox to store all my files I do not want to loose. I have photos, genealogy, health files, expenses, receipts, contracts, and so much more. Unfortunately, I find myself fighting with the program all the time. When upgrades are made, I find there is a glitch of some sort. Once I was notified I needed to backup my files. In the process of doing this, I lost them all. 3 years worth of data! There were no directions for backing up. There was no access on how to recover from old backups anywhere. These things should be clearly outlined in a manual, if there is one. The other thing I hate is that if you transfer files in or out of Dropbox, you have to do it one file at a time. You can’t transfer multiple files or a folder of files to Dropbox. Also you can no longer get to things like print or move a file to editing program (Word) without first clicking on “share” to find those options. Why the need to double click for these options? Other options are available with a single click but I don’t use those things. Ok, I have more but will stop now. I do like the program and still use it. Not so much on my phone due to the above complaints. Just wanted to let others know what life is like using the program.
Good features, horrible customer service
by MarlaE on 2020/05/30 14:09
I’ve used Dropbox for years with no issues, although it is overpriced and their peculiar insistence on landing you on “Recents” rather than “My Files” is annoying. However, if you must purchase Dropbox, do it on their site and not via the App Store. Here’s why: They sent me a note saying my payment method (Apple) was invalid and I had to “update” my payment method with Apple or lose my paid features on May 31st. Spoke with tech support via chat and confirmed that my payment info is up to date, and that it has successfully gone through for ApplePay, dozens of other apps, and a couple of streaming services. He escalated me to someone who days later sent me a boilerplate email that showed he hadn’t read anything from the previous conversation. I replied, explaining again. No answer. I wrote back asking for an ETA on a response, as May 31 was fast approaching. No answer. Then on May *29* — two days before the supposed deadline — I got an email saying “Your account has been downgraded.” Finally managed to resubscribe by severing my payment within Apple and purchasing on their site (although now I wish I hadn’t). And *still* no response from customer service.
Needs bugs worked out
by kellonc2 on 2022/03/26 22:12
Hello, I depend on Dropbox for my personal and Business data back up and I have an iPhone 11 with all of the latest iOS and software, however the dropbox app from the AppStore will not upload my photos! Even when I’m on a Wi-Fi connection at 50+ Mbps upload speeds, it is not enough for me to get my photos and videos uploaded which is a bug in the app surely. If I literally watch it upload, it is so slow that it takes minutes for a simple photo to upload and if I walk away from my phone (even with the screen on) it just stops uploading and is on the same file/photo when I come back to it, sometimes up to an hour later. It’s like when my phone is sitting still it won’t upload photos, which I’m sure is some sort of a bug with this app that is tied to some sort of sensor on my iphone. Something that needs to be investigated and resolved because given that I have the dropbox business enterprise premium plan I should be able to upload photos or someone should respond to my support tickets and help me resolve this issue which I have recorded exactly as I’ve stated on video. And I've never had a reply for support beyond an initial email.
Tell me one, do another

Edit: Oh my gosh they actually updated the app update description! End. I go into the app to make sure my photos are updating All good, but says I have an update and I need to update the app 🤔click a button that takes me to the App Store I go to the App Store and it says that it's updated and it has a button to open the app which takes be back, recursion loop. on top of that background updating has also stopped working so my phone has had to stay on for a week without going to sleep or the screen going off for it to finish uploading a rather large video it also seems like it took really long granted part of that's the "high speed" Internet. of course it doesn't help that apple's new update that was just shipped refuses to install even though it's already downloaded so I need to get everything synced so I can back up and do it on the computer. Yes my perfectly good phone got ridiculously slow "after I got notified"!!!! and the notification crashes and settings, update crashs. Oh and if there was an DB update it wouldn't tell me what was updated because that would be under NDA.
So much potential, very buggy
by hr150123 on 2021/03/02 00:30
I’ve been using this app daily for work, for over a year now. Every single time I create a folder and select upload photos, I will be scrolling on my camera roll and it if I’m not actively clicking photos right off the bat, it freezes and jumps to the start of my camera roll (I have 20k photos in my camera roll, going back to 2017). The only way to avoid this is by clicking upload photos, and immediately start rapidly tapping random photos until it unfreezes. I have always updated the app, and it’s done this on more than one iPhone. Still happening on my 12 Pro. 2nd issue that just started happening: I name every folder by date. Suddenly almost all my folders are out of order. They randomly just start not being organized by date as I scroll down. I make sure to select “sort by date modified” and it does nothing. No matter what I sort by, nothing changes in the order. It’s becoming very frustrating as I rely on this app for work. I’m confused by all the positive reviews because my experience has been this for several months now.
One year no change
by TiredMomAndNurse on 2020/04/14 02:19
A year ago I reached out for help bc all of my photos I edited on my phone or the hundreds of “portrait mode” iPhone photos were uploaded in their original mode and their “edited” portrait mode. When you click “automatic upload” it uploads your photos in chronological order with dates they were created. Which is great. On the portrait mode or any edited photo, it uploads two versions. I was going through and looking at file size and deleting the one that wasn’t edited so that my terabyte of storage wouldn’t be full. The tip they gave me was to click “manual upload” and manually upload all of the portrait mode or edited photos that I wanted to not have doubled. I did this. The photos were not uploaded by date taken and the file names were changed. But they were not doubled. Then, I clicked “automatic upload” to upload all of the other unedited photos and it still uploaded the edited ones I had manually uploaded bc the file names were different. I have reached out a handful of times about having an option to click or fixing the manual upload bug that changes the file names and causes more duplicates. No changes have been made. Dropbox is the most expensive storage app but don’t expect the most expensive quality.
I really wanted to like Dropbox
by Artemis12234 on 2020/02/03 16:43
This is a review on Dropbox in general. I wanted to use Dropbox to back up files I accumulate on both my phone and my computer over time onto a cloud. This includes work files (minimal though) and (mostly) personal photos/videos. But I have so many issues syncing files whether it be from my phone or my computer, I just can’t do it anymore; it takes way too much time. And I’ve had the paid version for a couple months now! I thought maybe Dropbox just had a learning curve but the issues are perennial. I constantly have to troubleshoot the syncing and google solutions for things like clearing the cache on my Mac. It’s like I have to treat Dropbox like a baby, only back up 50 photos at a time or it glitches and never uploads at all. Even troubleshooting pages from the Dropbox website don’t solve my problems, even if it’s only 4 simple steps. I don’t understand—I thought DropBox was a large and reputable company used by professionals. I’m using Dropbox for mostly light, personal reasons and it doesn’t work properly. Looks like I’m going to have to back up the old fashioned way: external hard drives.
Great app except...
by aWiiPeanut on 2020/04/14 13:16
Overall this is a great app. It allows you to categorize your files just like on a computer with folders and sub-folders, etc. It is relatively easy to move files around from your ipad or phone, send them to another app to markup, and upload. The main problem I have with this app is the buttons at the bottom of the page when you are viewing a document. They have recently added a big blue button right in the middle at the bottom that says OPEN. The grid and magnifying glass buttons to the left of that were bad enough but now I have to try and read around the big OPEN button as well. I use Dropbox a lot for quizzing myself and I’ll save questions/answers and scroll through them, answering them in my head as I go. The buttons get in the way of reading my questions because scrolling too much will show me the answer. These buttons need to be added into the top banner or lower banner and not on their own. It would make this a 5 star app for me!
Working great, one irksome “feature”
by LSSR22 on 2022/03/22 22:22
I don’t understand all the problems people describe. My experience with Dropbox has been great, with it being very reliable. In one respect it’s even better than iCloud for saving a PDF opened from a website. I can save it directly to Dropbox, but I cannot save it directly to an iCloud folder. Nice. The one annoying feature is with setting up a new account on a computer and Dropbox assuming that the user wants to have files saved solely in the cloud. That default setting isn’t immediately obvious and caused me and others to being unable to access files while traveling. Moreover, figuring out how to turn that setting off was not obvious and difficult to find. Easy to change once found, but it required some digging. The user’s preference for local verses cloud storage should be the first thing asked during a set up, and a description of how to change it should be provided right there during set up.
Not working correctly! HELP! /Thanks 4 fixing

My windows PC is connected to dropbox also since 2013, so I can copy my camera roll photos from dropbox onto my computer. Now Requires App Subscriptions
by justmyopiniontoo on 2020/02/27 16:44
After years of being able to view PDFs, Spreadsheets and Documents, the app now forces one to subscribe to Adobe, Excel, etc. To what purpose? Those of us not using it for business are not trying to update anything: we’re only wanting to view documents that we generate elsewhere. Without the option of “view only,” this app has become useless and only gets one star as Apple won’t allow zero. Edit to Response to Developer’s Reply: I am able now to either open a password protected file for view-only by selecting the “go” key on the keyboard, bypassing the “open” icon for Excel, or ignoring the “go” key and selecting the “open” icon to follow the Excel pathway to edit the file. Thanks! Response to Developer’s Reply: Your reply is demonstrably false. Despite the indications in your help link, the App stopped opening Excel and PDF files that are password protected without using Excel and Adobe. There’s nothing like entering a password in response to Dropbox and then dealing with the prompt maze of those applications to finally get another password screen from them. After years of successfully entering file passwords at your prompt, this happened after *your* upgrades and before I chose to update to iOS 13.3 from 12.x. This is all on you.
Great App but very unstable after update
by KJP2U on 2019/06/23 18:34
I’m having the same issue as Dudebraj9000. I have an iPhone 8 and have been using Dropbox for years. I agree that the updates have had no added value other than adding additional steps. When I’m uploading photos, I can no longer scroll down to see which photos are uploading. It jumps back to the top. Also, when I go to a photo album from Dropbox to upload photos, it will jump to photos from 2017 or 2018 unless I scroll real slow. Also, if I “move” photos from one folder to another, it now leaves me at the folder the photos got moved to instead of the folder I was working on... really annoying. I believe that if I “copy” photos from one folder to another, it will put me back to the folder I was working on, which is the way it has always been. Lastly, I had disconnected any auto uploads or syncing to Dropbox from the start, yet there is an album again called Dropbox with photos sitting in it... some very old photos. So I don’t know if those photos were uploaded or not. I have never auto synced my photos with Dropbox because I like having control of it. I gave you 5 stars because I use Dropbox every day and I trust that you will fix these issues. Overall, it has been fantastic, but more so in the older versions.
It deleted my entire Desktop
by KeoniKS on 2020/04/24 07:47
After a recent computer crash I had I was attempting to put things back to normal and reinstalled Dropbox. After it installed and logged in it was already full but attempted to copy and sync my entire desktop. This didn’t happen before when I first installed it and it began lagging my entire computer. So I tried deleting the folder but it took my entire desktop from my computer and multiple files ranging from personal and work. Trying to recover failed because there file box it was trying to sync was only a partial download and only had file folder names and none of the content. I’m not gonna pay for an app that will try to take on more than it can handle on the free plan. I’ve only used this app to make it easier to share files between computer to phone not entire programs from the desktop nor did I ask it to sync. I might have screwed by a simple update for the sync computer but I never had an option for how to sync it and I usually have to initiate it but this was unexpected and stacked up on current problems.
All files lost and not given a refund
by Tahisha on 2020/02/12 16:57
Edit: The company’s response is unacceptable to me, neither taking accountability for their lack of communication or defrauding me out of my money. I will never be using or recommending their services to anyone and with these business practices I am sure they will go out of business sooner rather than later! I found charges on a credit card statement that I thought had been cancelled going back two years with a monthly subscription to Dropbox. Because the account was linked to an old email address that I could not recover, I lost about a thousand photos of my family and travels. When I contacted Dropbox the agent I communicated with refused to speak with me on the phone, could not recover my photos, would not refund me the monthly subscription that I had been paying for this “service” unless I gave them my credit card number over email, AND would not let me speak to anyone else. If I could give zero stars I absolutely would, this is a horrible company. Google Drive is superior in every single way and I have never had a single issue with them!!
One last thing
by Nightmare13473 on 2020/02/09 23:48
I’m really happy u added a Dark version to it, now I’m not straining my eyes with all the white, I never liked bright things, but to get to the point, there’s one last thing I would love for u to add to the app. I download audio files on Dropbox and I use it to listen to it when ever my WiFi decided to cut out for a few hours (ya it does that I’ve been trying to get it fixed) now it plays the files just fine, but whenever the song ends, it doesn’t go to the next one, so I have to stop whatever I’m doing, go the the app, and either replay the same song or just find a new one to listen too. And I don’t like being stopped in the middle of drawing or doing work. Is there a way u could add a media player or something? Like when u play a music or video file it just goes or opens up the media player? Plz if u can do it I’ll be very great full, I'd definitely have less distractions when I do my work.
App disables your account for no reason

I have had dropbox for years and one day i tried to login and it suddenly says log back in again. I do it several times and it doesn’t work. After the 3rd try it disables my account. I try to go to support to write to them and it also gets disabled which makes it impossible to tell them what is going on. You are voiceless if you get locked out. Then i go to Twitter and they don’t respond for days I try to send them a message from a different dropbox and it says it has to be logged in from the same email you need help from which they have disabled. I have been waiting for days and they have not emailed me back to solve the issues. I will call my legal team soon. They are horrible at helping you when you are stuck and no phone number to call. On top of that they keep charging me every month. I recommend working with a service that can be reached In crisis. Even if you have the plus account you cannot reach them unless you are logged in but if you are locked out how are you supposed to get through ??? They will say send us an email from the same account that you are locked out from but you cannot because they do mot accept outgoing emails. The staff is untrained and you can lose all your data. My legal team is ready to bash them for there shameful ways Very low grade system. I lost so much money losing access to my files these days. Horrible.
Thank Goodness for Dropbox!
by Rebecculous on 2020/10/28 12:38
I’ve been using this app for...holy cow! Almost ten years! And over those years I’ve had 15 different devices: 1 laptop, plus numerous phones and tablets. I always install Dropbox as part of setting up any new device. About a year ago I met a young couple in crisis, suddenly homeless after his dad died suddenly and they lived with him. The landlord locked them out as the coroner departed...anyway; I naively let them stay with me and they robbed me. The worst thing they took was every dead iPad from the last ten years and all the photos therein. Years of photos, irreplaceable photos of children and grandchildren, even photos of older photos of my parents as newlyweds, etc...they are so precious. Fortunately, I have Dropbox and all my photos upload automatically.
Doesn’t work
by OneAndOnlyAlex on 2020/12/09 20:07
I have tried hundreds of times to use this application in different capacities, and it does not, to even a slight extent, serve the purpose it’s intended for. My hatred for this stupid website and this stupid app goes beyond words. The frustration is difficult to articulate. The frustration is furthered by the fact that an app that can do what Dropbox is intended to do would be remarkably helpful. I have tried with four different email accounts. I’ve tried not using an email account at all, but even the simplest of tasks do not work on this useless pathetic excuse for a file storage site. If you don’t have an account and all you want to do is download or view a file in someone else’s Dropbox, forget about it. You’ll just be continuously harassed to pay for the service. If you do pay for the service, the same issue, constant notifications asking you to pay more or telling you your storage is full even when it’s entirely empty. You will find more joy and success doing something like jamming a screwdriver into your eye socket.
Support
by KENO4RENO on 2020/12/16 10:57
Don’t have the business Dropbox I have the lower one I don’t need a business one because I’m a single person that does not work but unfortunately there’s no support for anybody that pays $118 a year instead of the $200 a year of having a terrible time I accidentally canceled my subscription and I’m trying to re-activate it and pay and there’s absolutely no way to get a hold of anybody in the business account people will talk to you but they won’t help you because I’m not business you should have support for us as well we’re not that penny-ante that you can help us. Your response to me was do I want to change my review the answer is no and you’re not getting it I never had a business account with you ever only the personal account can you send me the splitting things to get help by upgrading it’s all about the money with you people instead of actual business in the care of the actual person insane every year I’ve been with you for over 45 years I’m done hopefully my pictures will be safe
Dropbox doing everything they can to devalue the free account
by rktca on 2020/07/31 17:56
I know that Dropbox needs to make money to survive but going from $0 to $120/yr is a huge leap for what is now a commodity service. I don’t need 2TB of storage and there’s nothing in between. For cloud storage all I need is like 20GB (which Dropbox doesn’t even offer). For secure cloud backup use something like Backblaze. The new-ish three device limit is so annoying I am likely to just swap over to Box and be done with Dropbox. I have like 6 devices that I used to sync up. Removing free features certainly won’t “convince” me of the value of Dropbox paid plans and is more an indicator of how little I can trust Dropbox. Perhaps it’s intended to get rid of customers who won’t pay $120/yr. At least they haven’t had a security breach (that I’m aware of) for a few years. Please remember to encrypt any files on Dropbox that you don’t want someone else to read.
Attach a Dropbox File to an Email from Within Gmail Not Supported on an iPad
by SoulForce1 on 2020/04/08 01:10
I am paperless and use DropBox for literally everything business and personal, therefore, I find it extremely annoying and cumbersome that when composing an email using Gmail on my iPad I cannot attach a file directly from Dropbox. When I select the attach function (paper clip), the only options for attachment sources that appear are Google Drive, camera roll, and recents. The online help forums state that I should approach the problem in reverse, namely, open my file in DropBox then select Open File in Gmail. While this does open a new Gmail message with the file as an attachment, this backward workaround is useless if I already have started composing an email within Gmail because the attachment cannot be assigned to another preexisting email within Gmail. Also, there seems to be no way to attach more than one file to the same email. Email attachments are a very basic function that every user needs so I would think DropBox would make fixing this issue a priority.
Too much money for notta lotta “service”
by The Notorious t.i.g on 2018/07/12 00:39
After the recent update, DropBox stopped working properly for camera-roll upload on my iPad. Their solution? Remove the app, forget the network, fully restart the iPad, re-connect to the network, and re-install the app. Seriously? Good thing I have nothing else to do ... oh, wait. Basement flooded. So yeah, I have something else to do that's rather urgent. Good news is that yes, this did in fact resolve the issue, but really, I have other things to do in my life than reset apps with updates that fail. Especially when paying $75/month for the business version. For $75 a month I expect a MUCH better UI, amazing support, in-file search (not just the file titles), and so much more. Instead, we get the un/re-install merry-go-round, an ok UI, low-availability support (US normal business hours only), and an amazingly klugey sync setup. Heaven help you if your Mac has an external drive. What happens when you get a new Mac? It downloads everything from Dropbox again, even though all I did was remove the USB plug from the old machine to the new. Good job, Dropbox. Well done. Now I gotta wait for 4T of data to re-synch. Their super awesome support response? Well, we told you external drives might not work as expected. I’m totally looking for another service. Seriously, $900 a year for this? I feel like an idiot for locking myself into this “service”.
Stop changing stuff!
by Dudebraj9000 on 2018/09/18 09:03
Why do you guys constantly insist on changing the whole interface of the app? Seriously. Every update things are different, and not in a good way. Also, I can’t scroll down on my synced folders anymore. It makes my files disappear when I try. This started after the recent update. I’m not one of those “let me speak to your manager” kind of people but I just had to let you know how bad my experience has been so far. Please fix it, and leave it that way unless there’s a really important bug to fix. Also gave you 5 stars because I know you’re hard working people over there and I pay for pro. Don’t hate the app, just hate the constant changes to the overall look of the app that honestly seem more like a step backward than forward.
More Flexible
by DSM300 on 2022/03/03 12:53
I’ve been using Dropbox for a while now. I agree with some others that the 2 GB should be increased by now to keep up with competition. I also think their should be more flexibility with the system but it seems you are actually going backwards. Instead of making things easier to use like saving photos to your device or moving files from Dropbox to your computer you are trying to discourage people from doing these things. If I want to store an image on my iPhone photo album I am going to do that. Also when you open the app if goes to recent files instead of your folders where everything is. Then you can hide the recent files under settings but instead of removing the tab you just hide the files and replace it with a button that allows you to show recent files. Completely useless settings option.
“Free” trial
by fitzymamaof4 on 2021/03/28 13:57
Someone sent me photos via Dropbox and I thought I had to have Dropbox to access or use the photos. So I downloaded the app and chose the free 30 day trial but couldn’t figure anything out so I “upgraded” I truly despise “free” 30 day trials that require your credit card information to begin and that should have given me pause before I went ahead and entered it, but these were pictures from my grandsons 1st birthday party. Now that I am trying to cancel the “free” subscription so I’m not charged at the end of the thirty days, it’s not such an easy process as to click a button. Tech savvy I’m not and navigating and trying to use Dropbox was/is not simple for me and canceling definitely is not! This is a great reminder to me to NEVER get a free 30 day trial of something that isn’t truly free. Still haven’t managed to use the app in any useful way that makes sense or is easy for a non tech person. I’m sure it’s wonderful for some folks I just don’t happen to be one and won’t recommend it to others.
The love is gone...
by Kht2015 on 2019/10/09 13:21
I used to love Dropbox. Started using it when I was a student when it first came out. Now I used it mostly for ebooks in the .prc files and export directly to Kindle. Have it on both my Iphone and Ipad. But for some reason after the last update I cannot directly export those books to Kindle anymore. When I click on the file Dropbox doesn't recognize it as a Kindle document anymore and came across as data and said it is incompatible with Kindle when exporting. I have been doing it for years. It still works on my Iphone because I have not updated. I was planning to upgrade to a better account but with this issue I am about to jump ship and forget Dropbox altogether. Every major update brings more headache. I am considered tech savvy and can navigate thru pretty much major upgrade/updates on most apps. But this is just too much. I have many files in .prc and now cannot export.
Duplicate scans, no multiple photo upload
by syosset_1 on 2022/03/03 04:12
When scanning documents using the mobile app, I frequently get duplicate pdfs added. There will be the original one it scanned, and then a second one with “ (1)” appended to its filename. Some times there will even be a third one with “ (2)”. This has been going on for at least a 1 year. Terrible quality control and crappy app. To add insult to injury, there is no way to upload more than one photo at a time through the iPhone’s photo library. If you select multiple photos, there is no option to upload to Dropbox. These are super basic things and it seems like the Dropbox team has abandoned its app. Add on to that the drama with their company saying they will not support M1 macs, only to do an aboutface after being publicly humiliated. I have been paying for Dropbox for more than a decade, but now i’m looking for a way to start transitioning to a a service that cares more about its customers. Real pity for what used to be a promising and user-centric company
Never liked Dropbox and still don’t
by Conan the Reviewer on 2019/03/14 04:17
This app is confusing and hard to use. A friend sent me a Dropbox link of a song file, and when I clicked on it I got the option to either get the song in the browser or “download the app,” which I had already done. I clocked the latter option, and it just brought me to the App Store. When I clicked open no notice appeared about the download; it just took me to the app. As far as I can tell there’s no way to search through emails or Facebook messenger from the Dropbox app to download the link. I then went back to the link and clicked the other option, “open in browser,” which took me to a playable file but again gave me no options to download the file. I’ve always had problems with Dropbox, and the only time I use it is when someone shares something with me on it. This was one of those times, and though this was my first time using the iPhone app, I came away from it disappointed as usual.
Great except keeps losing recent files
by Paul, just Paul ... on 2018/10/26 00:27
99% of the time when I used this app, it is to do something with one of the three or four files I have most recently edited. For some reason this app keeps losing track of those, which makes it take much longer to use. Last time it was because they forced dropbox paper towns artificially find a recent list, this time the paper staff is back again and all my recent files have disappeared. There is no option to remove the paper spam from the recent list. For bonus points they say it’s easy to contact them if you have problems about the app. It isn’t. When I finally found a way, their support page doesn’t work; it won’t let me choose a device and therefore won’t let submit a ticket. This is of course on my iPhone, the same device the app is running on, using safari, the default and dominant browser. Ridiculous.
Slow to upload
by Dcarson67 on 2021/03/25 19:33
I’ve used this app in the past and it was ok. I needed more storage recently and downloaded it again. 1900 + pics and here I am a week later still waiting for more than 90% to upload so I can remove the files from my phone. Pics only upload when the app is open on your phone. Yup you have to stare at 2000 + to upload to their server. If your anything like me and normal, not doing anything else while waiting to upload is extremely hard to do. I use my phone for business and I could be looking at the files being uploaded only to get an email I have to respond to and then 2 hours later go to check drop box and only one file was uploaded. If the app is launched why do I have to stare at files being uploaded? Makes no sense. I should be able to do other things on my device while things are being uploaded.
Feature needed!
by Fer.Oropeza on 2020/12/03 01:27
Hi! I've been your client for over a year now, and I truly believe Dropbox is the best cloud storing app out there, it's the only one I pay and need honestly. I would just really love if it would give me the option of deleting what I upload, right there in the app after uploading my pictures and files. IPhone is too bad to organize pictures because they're all on the camera roll, so I usually organize them on Dropbox, but it's kind of annoying having to go back to my pictures or my files to look for the exact same archives I just uploaded and delete them manually. I don't think we need duplicate items, so if I am uploading them to the cloud it's most likely because I don't want them on my phone anymore right? That feature would save me so so much time. Thank you!
Review purely based on customer service
by Marina'9000 on 2021/10/16 02:25
I got the free trial since this was the only way I could get my engagement photoshoot pictures, so I didn’t use the app besides purely for this purpose - hence I’m not rating the functionality of the app. That said, I specifically checked the box to go to monthly subscription after trial, just in case I’d forget to cancel, which I did, however I was charged for the annual subscription instead. I tried to contact the customer service, but there is no phone number you can call except for business plan subscribers. I sent customer service an email, but received no reply. Between the wedding, med school and moving to a new city this issue fell through the cracks and I was reminded of it as I was again charged for the annual subscription (yes, my fault for not staying on top of it, but had customer service got back to me this wouldn’t be an issue). So basically if you foresee any need for customer service with your subscription, DropBox isn’t for you.
Plz add ‘select all’ option to folders!!!
by Djekbejxl on 2021/08/12 16:38
Great app works wonderfully for what it is. I’ve had the paid service for years and have used it a ton for work and personal stuff. Great cloud storage, accessible from everywhere. I have been trying to use it to transfer photos between phone and computer and the lack of a ‘select all’ or ‘select inverse’ option has slowed this to a crawl. Even a ‘Export all files in folder’ or something would speed up my interactions with app x50. Would be a simple feature to add that would make transferring files so much pass hassle!!! Please help devs! Love this app, but without this feature I am going to have to migrate to another service. Great work in general, love the app and don’t want to leave.
Now that it’s fixed, it works well.
by Thistlelip on 2019/11/18 22:50
A few days after leaving this review with a one star rating the issue was fixed. When this app is working it’s quite good. This app was great until a few weeks ago when an update removed the ability to close a file and have the entire screen be for the titles of files. As it is now, the only way one can view titles of files that are more than seven characters or so is to start the process of moving a file which then gives a screen that shows the titles. I pay annually for Dropbox and thus have another 9 months before it will be financially feasible to switch services, but if you have not already paid for Dropbox, I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT PAY FOR THIS app. At least until such time as they correct this issue. It is practically unusable as is.
Downhill
by fishing48080 on 2021/11/11 05:38
I’ve used Dropbox for a few years now. Recently I’ve had time to look over my cloud options and it looks like Dropbox is always behind the other major players in this field. I will be canceling this subscription as the other cloud services always seem to offer more and are easier to navigate. I’m usually to busy to look at all the features but over the last month I feel like I’m getting ripped off by Dropbox. Yes it’s my fault for not looking into these cloud services but over the last month I realized that 2 other cloud services are more user friendly and just overall a superior to Dropbox in every way. If nothing else from my review, do your homework and use the free month on all cloud services so you know what you are getting. Go up to a computer repair center and ask for cloud advice. This service isn’t right for me but it may be perfect for the next person. Just try a couple different cloud services before settling on one.
Dropbox has been hard, but paintings look amazing
by Max sword on 2020/08/26 03:53
Ok so really Dropbox is good at some things and amazingly competent at other things. They will not support the Dropbox app ( I didn’t know) the instructions are finally being edited for clarity and ease of understanding. Answers can be hard to get, although they reply fairly quickly, simple answers can take multiple emails. Now the amazing way they make my digital scans of paintings is off the charts!! Stratosphere type work. The files fit the whole frame for mobile responsive design. The file handling can be screwed up to easy( layers and nested files and folders) as you learn. I had a hard time learning Dropbox, but it was mostly my fault and now I’m really enjoying Dropbox and trying to explore all the options available.
Five stars for completely disappointing me!!
by keilaa.17 on 2018/07/24 10:01
I’ve had this app for a while now. They promise to keep all your pictures safe “NO MATTER WHAT” which is all a lie! Let’s say u lose access to the account for a bit so you are inactive with it. Well without them even asking for your permission, they decide to erase your account and all the pictures you saved with it!! I completely believed them like an idiot and deleted my pictures and gave it to them so they can “KEEP IT SAFE” and without even consulting me or thinking about the fact that I have important pictures and things I actually wanted them to keep safe, they just erase and pretend like nothing ever happened. I completely do not recommend this app!! PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT!!! GET EVERALBUM OR EVEN GOOGLE PICTURES BUT DO NOT USE THIS!!!
Annoyed.
by Taelor Lynette on 2022/02/22 20:20
I’ve loved this app for years. I have all my photos from highschool saved to this app. AT&T actually were the ones who told me to download this app to have them saved in another place just in case. Well it’s still connected through my Timehop app so I know I’m using the right email, every time I try to rest the password it will not send me the email. Well I did what the support on the website said to do add no-replydropbox to my contacts. And still no email. I’ve been working on accessing these photos for weeks now. The have no way of being contacted & will not help with a chat bot till your signed in. So I’m assuming all my stuff is just forever lost and I’m heartbroken. I have deleted the app re downloaded it. Updated it. Tried from safari. It won’t even let me try to rest it anymore because it said too many attempts. But I’ve not received the first email yet. I would love to be reached out to on how to fix this. & then my rating will be deleted.
Love DB, wish I could afford you
by Jeslive on 2020/10/20 19:14
I don’t remember when I signed up for DB, but over that time I’ve been able to save stuff that I couldn’t find a place to save on my iPad. Do I sound digitally challenged, I am. I realize DB must be an excellent tool for business, etc, but as an individual Im thankful to use it to keep my info safe and organized. I wish there was a low-mid level sub price, because it would be worth it to me to have a secure site I trust. I understand marketing to business and generating revenue, but I’ll bet there are lots of individuals, who don’t need 2 TB of storage, who would like a safe option with a reputable site...(and don’t want to seem like unappreciative mooches). In any case, thank you. FIVE STARS!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
DON’T DELETE THINGS OFF OF IT!
by Splazzatch56 on 2020/09/24 19:14
So this is perfect. I can get things from my ox to my phone. Everything about this is useful. Except for the fact that downloading the application on your laptop never works. Nothing I ever upload on it shows up on my phones app. It’s horrible. It takes 10 times longer on the website and half the time it cancels. The website works, but the app on pc doesn’t. The big issue I have is that I uploaded it to the app on my pc. But I realized it didn’t work so I deleted off of that and went to the website. Big mistake. It deleted that ENTIRE FILE! I am not happy with that. And the thing is it didn’t even tell me it would! It didn’t even ask for confirmation! It’s a terrible thing. Please fix this and this will be perfect. Oh and one other thing. WHY DO YIU ONLY GET 5 GIGABYTES WHEN YOU DON’T PAY FOR IT. It also doesn’t help that they really overprice it.
Gone down hill
by gtw145 on 2020/10/19 15:08
This use to be great but now it is horrible When I am in need and there is a issue there is no support. The support is so bad it just as well be non existent They have a silly chat box that serves no reason other than to frustrating you more . Twitter support for a company is a sign someone is hiding for their responsibility. If need they don’t respond! Not here is the worst one A community based support meaning the owner of this community is so lazy it is passing its duty to the customers! When I made a post it took 5 days to get a response then the person could not help . The drop box feature and app doesn’t play well with others and is absolutely blocked by Chrome so sync a resume through Drop box is a fight every single time . If you have important stuff you need to save don’t do here because if no improvements are made you will lose access and with lame support options that means you are left out to dry! If your our paying for a premium services from here then you better make arrangements because any company than is unprofessional enough to charge people money without a customer support service is bad news and the reviews are starting to reflect this. There are other options that are free with 3 times the storage of DropBox and Drive that work beautifully with all browsers so google alternatives .
Deleted all my photos
by Piano Mom 0102 on 2019/10/05 23:59
I received emails from Dropbox saying my account was being deleted due to inactivity. (This is a data STORAGE service. How active is one supposed to be?). Their website said data would not be deleted for 2 weeks after the user’s account was closed. I contacted customer support the day I received the email that my account had been closed. I followed the online instructions to reactivates account. However, my photos were gone!! Customer service was not able to help retrieve the photos, nor provide an explanation as to why they were deleted within hours after the account was closed. Your data is not safe on this site, especially with the free version. Dropbox, don’t offer a free version if you are not going to protect the user’s data. I am not referring to the security of the site, but rather the lack of regard they have for the data of people using their site. Two words: Google Drive Bye Dropbox.
🚫 Not upgrading
by The Blonde Cookie on 2018/10/30 02:50
After looking down the long list of seriously bad recent reviews, I’m NOT doing the latest upgrade (operating under the theory “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”). What I’m using now, while far from perfect, is adequate; I don’t have to wrestle constantly with the software, and I know what workarounds I need to employ to get ‘er done, so…its not a perfect world, but no new surprises. I already knew their customer support was nonexistent; I have a “story” of my own. I hope someone sues them for false advertising (for claiming they have customer support). I’d say it’s possible to win that in a court of law: if someone pays for a product and substantially relies on the written description of something (“we have customer service available to serve you,” or whatever is written), there’s a case to be made if the person or business incurred a provable loss due to that reliance. Hmmm… 🤔 Dropbox appears to have gone the way of so many apps - it’s all about the Benjamin’s (as opposed to quality, reliable customer support). But, of course, the less peeps employed, the better the bottom line looks. I noticed, however, that their marketing department must be working overtime. How a 4.7 star rating is possible with as many really bad (recent) reviews is absolutely beyond me. Of course, no one would ever skew the review numbers to make an app look more attractive, would they? 🙄
Terrible
by Likes cool on 2021/06/20 01:55
I’ve had a Dropbox for years now and I’ve loved it! It wasn’t until last week when I attempted to open up my Dropbox app that it showed I was logged out. I did not think anything of it until I attempted to log back in. I tried multiple times until I finally did reset password. I did reset password and Dropbox gave a message saying if we find an email associated with the account then you’ll get the reset email. I waited 5 minutes and got no email so I repeated the process multiple times and got no email. I know it’s the right email because I screenshot my Dropbox account one day! Ive tried reaching out to customer care on multiple social media platforms as well as the Dropbox website and no one ever contacted me back!! It’s nearly impossible to talk to a real representative of the company!! Don’t download this app if you like poor customer service and having ur account deleted

Dropbox: Cloud Photo Storage
Description
Dropbox lets anyone upload and transfer files to the cloud, and share them with anyone.
CANCEL NOW!

Love it!!

Do better.

by stevosreview on 2022/05/10 20:03

Monthly charges never agreed to.

Never signed up for Dropbox Plus. Going through my mail I see they have been charging me $12 a month for something I never have used or wanted. I don’t even use regular Dropbox. Am I paying for some tech idiots new play space rocket? What a racket. Deleting all.

Or is there a way to recall an email that I sent fifteen hours ago. outlook app for iphone. please help. thanks
Useless/not needed

I’ve been using Dropbox on my iPhones since 2013. It always worked great until this past month. I use dropbox for my camera roll upload on my iPhone.
