Not working! Please fix!
by Vtkng on 2021/07/25 15:38
I have been using the app (paid) for years. Lately, it skipped photos, showed in wrong orders, and the last week or so, it stayed in the “scanning your photo library” mode forever without uploading anything. I am very frustrated. Please address
Office integration is poor
by shrimppesto on 2021/07/25 11:04
Office integration is poor. It’s been 4 years since Microsoft released a combined iOS Office app for Word/Excel/PPT—yet Dropbox still does not support it. When you click the button to edit an app, Dropbox demands that you install the standalone iOS app (Word, Excel, PPT) even if you have the combined app installed. 4 years for a simple app-binding! Methinks their attention is elsewhere. This used to be an app that you never had to think too much about… But now, the team seems too focused on turning Dropbox into some sort of social media platform for documents, and as a result, its basic functionality is suffering. :-(
Dropbox is Outdated and Won't Upgrade
by Slimtwo on 2021/07/24 15:31
Dropbox is a great app, but not supported on older devices. I still use an iPad mini which Apple stopped maintenance at iOS 9.3.5. and recently it just crashes and closes. I would like Dropbox to provide a lighter version so I could still get to my files from this device.
Photos upload keeps failing

About a useful as screen doors on a submarine
by SM28516 on 2021/07/23 20:40
Dropbox what a pile of crap. It rarely ever works right, always some vague error message when I try to upload files. When I do manage to upload something other users get error message / can’t download shared files. Worthless
Need support from a human
by lisamcard on 2021/07/22 15:07
Been everywhere and done everything to get my question answered I need to upgrade my dropbox but I will not pay any more if I cannot get support to my question there is no point I prefer Dropbox but if you cannot provide support other than community chat or menu after menu after menu why should I spend more money with you?! My question is how do you import over 4000 photos from Amazon photos into dropbox?
Seems to still have some bugs
by Carpenbury on 2021/07/22 03:08
When it works it’s awesome but: ( I’m using iPhone 11 Pro Max , all software uptodate and wifi upload speed from phone to server is 8MBs.) Now I’m primary interested in pictures Pros: saves my photos with out compression Cons: you have to remember to open the app when you put it in the charger to back up the photos It only up loads at about 4 photos a minute. One of our phones we took 5000 photos one month and the auto up load feature just fails, acts like it wants to start but never does. Tried to select the 5000 photos to up load but the software crashes every 15-20 min. And videos can take several days to up load unless they are just a few seconds long So works well if you don’t take many photos and don’t take any videos and remember to start the up load every night.
Reliable!

I’ve been using Dropbox for many years now. I’ve tried others, but I haven’t found anything else that keeps me as organized and creates a smooth workflow.

No iOS live photo support
by Nick49571 on 2021/07/20 23:52
I like the app, it’s easy to use. But why don’t you have iOS live photos support? Don’t you remember the feeling when you first see the live photo in a newspaper from the first Harry Potter? Why dropbox, why? I don’t understand.
Pitiful Regression
by Pugsley Atomz on 2021/07/20 03:13
As of lately, Dropbox just totally skips certain photos that it should be backing up to Camera Uploads with no rhyme or reason. And it no longer backs up on its own — you have to open the app to start the process KD complete the process. So it’s gotten manual and glitchy as compared to how it once worked perfectly. It’s a shame.
Sort by name has been broken for months
by TimToon on 2021/07/20 02:50
The sorting by name is broken, with files coming after folders. That is not sorting alphabetically, it is sorting by type. I reported the bug ages ago and my tickets just disappear. The chatbot is no help and customer service talks in circles. When will this get fixed?
Worse than Apples Files System
by @davessuccess on 2021/07/20 00:24
Can you believe it? I huge company like dropbox can make it’s own app worse than Apples files system on the iPad. Don’t get me wrong. Dropbox is one of the best options yet they make it soooo frustrating to use! Things take forever to upload, you can’t navigate folders normally like on the mac and the worst part is that when it syncs with the apple files system on iPad, it never syncs properly or completely. I’m updating this review because of how frustrating it is to use again. I’m starting to wonder why I still spend my money with dropbox for business spending $50 a month. I just don’t understand how smaller companies (like “PDF viewer”) that use a file system can be better than the ultra huge dropbox corp. This is awful 😡
So many sticky little problems now
by Trmsd on 2021/07/19 02:54
Nagging little problems that crop up daily now. The latest is that I can’t save documents to my dropbox from within chrome on IOS. I a logged-in, the save dialog pops-up, and I have selected the folder location, but the ‘save’ hyperlink never enables. It also doesn’t let you rename the suggested file name which is just the timestamp. This has been going on for quite some time; works sometimes, doesn’t most of the time. I usually have to break out my laptop and do it from there, which really defeats the whole purpose of the app. Used to be a great and functional app but not any longer
Camera uploads no longer working
by 5272dactyl on 2021/07/17 22:51
Photos/videos from camera roll haven’t been uploaded to Dropbox since mid-June. And ditto the user’s comment about how edited videos aren’t uploaded to Dropbox, only the original version. Will have to find a different service if these issues persist.

Daily updates are so annoying
by хелиопатра on 2021/07/16 04:33
I live in a rural area where the internet connection is very shaky and it’s extremely annoying to update Dropbox almost daily. When I try to access Dropbox, I’m not allowed in until I do the pending update. Besides I couldn’t even do whatever I needed done after wasting more than an hour doing the update. If I see another useless update in the few days, I’m deleting this app.

Please change the new icon back.
by andychuh on 2021/07/16 02:50
What's going on? Why did you change the icon back to the old model? The old color is too dark and not modern.

by cayayofm on 2021/07/15 05:17

The recent update has heavy glitches and crashes. Junk trash update that has ruined my battery.
Worse than Android version
by Unhappy User 989 on 2021/07/14 23:28
Have to keep the app open to upload photos. Can’t push multiple pictures to your Dropbox account from the Photos app. You have to start in Dropbox and pull them in. Doesn’t warn you about uploading duplicates which takes up double the space. You have to wait around in the app for the photos to upload to Dropbox because they won’t upload in the background like every other modern app. Dropbox is better on Android because it does all these things. No idea why the iPhone app doesn’t.
Edited Video uploads broken
by chris h788 on 2021/07/14 15:07
If you edit a video, Dropbox won’t upload the edited version, only the original. Bad regression.

Beware: you can’t cancel a trial subscription
by wilsos33 on 2021/07/12 04:46
I’ve never been able to cancel this subscription after the free trial period. I’ve never actually uploaded anything to the account and still getting charged. The instructions provide information that may be available from a PC but since I’m fully on mobile devices I can’t see if that makes a difference. $12 adds up when you dont use the service or have a need.
This app is an overrated piece of crap
by srogoff40 on 2021/07/11 13:06
If you want to empty your trash of deleted items, good luck finding this what should be an easy task. Perfect example of what’s wrong with this piece of crap. Don’t waste your money on this - no matter how many tech magazines or blog posts try to convince you otherwise.
Photos upload even worst
by BuyLater on 2021/07/10 13:53
I wrote a previous review and was advised to log out and back in, delete the cache, and other steps. I tried them all. It worked when I deleted the app, installed it back and log in for the first time. It only uploaded photos ONCE. I had to repeat the same process over an over of not it kept saying no more photos to upload. Today that process doesn’t work either. I have one week of photos and Dropbox “can’t find them”. “All done for now” became the most frustrating message!!! What else should I try? Thank you
Adding an email, instructions don’t work. Deleting old files impossible
by McG_onSax on 2021/07/09 20:50
I NEED to talk with someone ASAP and the steps suggested are useless; the describe clicking on things that aren’t there, they’re not even options. NONE of the suggested solutions work as described. The steps do not match the options indicated. I need to add an email address to my account because a friend sent files to my other email account and Dropbox won’t let me see. Instructions don’t work. Also want to delete old files yet there are NO options for this. Impossible, no way to delete old files. I guess that way we run out of space and have to keep upgrading? Trying to talk with a representative is an endless maze that prevents an actual phone call. The option they say is in the admin box doesn’t exist. Paul
It’s great but just one thing
by rappynight on 2021/07/09 08:17
Hi, I’m Adrian I love your app but I have just one problem if I try to open a file link from another link into the Dropbox app that file won’t open. For instance, If I go to Patreon and click on a link that will send me to a screen it says I can either get the app or continue to the website. If I choose the get app option it says “Tapping the Get App will copy a link and open the content in the app.” But, I find that to not be true.

Customer service stinks
by 57diva on 2021/07/08 13:49
I’ve been getting notice my storage is full, I MUST upgrade, for a substantial cost of course. Well, I’ve eliminated just about everything and moved to a portable storage device. It still says I’m full! I have tried contacting customer service to no avail. Crooked! They just lock you up and want to force you to buy their product. Disgusting.

I’m ending my relationship. Finally.
by evanseesred on 2021/07/07 17:21
So let me start by saying, I have used Dropbox for years. I understand how it functions and there are times when it can be truly a helpful tool. But the trade off is not worth it. In 2017, I bought a new computer and linked it to my Dropbox. This proved to be the biggest mistake. Despite meticulously designating files to be online only or mixed state, it has made my computer function like a MacBook from 1999. It is so slow and it’s because of the way Dropbox treats even files that are supposed to be online only or mixed state. For example, I noticed my storage had run super low on my computer. Odd! Because I keep nothing on it. Apple does this helpful thing where it will show you what files are taking up the most space, and viola! All of these supposed mixed state and online files were taking up a ton of my storage. Now, DB claims these aren’t actually taking up space and that these are just ghost images or something? Well, tell that to me computer lol. It’s a distinction without a difference and there’s no easy fix. Except…there is. I work in pro audio and my friends, when I told them what I was experiencing, laughed and said “you have Dropbox on your production computer? You NEVER do that.” So now I’m learning the hard way what music producers have known for years . Do NOT put Dropbox on computers where you are doing a lot of creative work as it will slow everything down significantly. I think DB is wonderful for writers and people who use it to store small files, but if you are in creative fields and especially ones requires a lot of storage, you are best to find another solution. As one DB customer service rep told me on a call when I was frustrated with my situation, “well you DO have a lot of files!” As if my 2 TB of music project files were the problem (I think her head would’ve exploded if I worked in graphics / CGI!) Take-away: Great for writers and anyone who just needs a little storage in the cloud. A huge headache for anyone working in professional creative fields requiring large amounts of storage.

“Save to Dropbox” fails all the time
by Thalesian on 2021/07/05 14:04
I am a scientist, and I often save papers I read on my iPhone directly to Dropbox. Over the last year or so, this functionality has degraded heavily: 1) “Save to Dropbox” fails 80% of the time, incorrectly thinking there is no network connection 2) When “Save to Dropbox” works, it tries to grab the html of the page 50% of the time instead of the pdf 3) New folders can’t be made in the save window 4) The regular Dropbox share option now prompts a useless email messaging service. Currently I can’t save anything to Dropbox - I have to save to a separate PDF reader and then send it to Dropbox. It is cumbersome and disappointing to see such a major app require such workarounds for basic functionality.

I love this app but…
by nmschmeisser on 2021/07/04 04:58
It won’t upload my photos from my phone. It’s acting like it’s up to date but there’s still a LOT of photos it’s missing(like 100s). It just keeps saying scanning phone even if I leave app open for hours. I love this app and I love that I have a place to put my photos but this is frustrating.
Disaster
by Benjamin7887 on 2021/07/04 00:52
Corrupted a random file. I uploaded 4 video files, recorded exactly the same way, for some reason it destroyed and corrupted the second one. It doesn’t make any sense. Dropbox is just terrible.
Dev please remove the gray info box on iOS app
by road2acept on 2021/07/02 20:33
Dev please remove the gray info box on iOS app. there's no way to hide it and view the photo without the box there. it's distracting from the photo itself. it's a Maps I've used when you click in when you click into it the gray box disappears without this dropbox app
Please! Quality Control by children
by Joliver332 on 2021/07/01 15:02
Most of my files are missing... no indication of them being updated or syncing or a data wheel turning... just says folder is empty.... been waiting four hours now no files... is quality control just an out dated concept? Where are my files? Offline files all gone. Update: now photo uploads stall after 2 photos. Rebooting the phone gives the ability to load 2 more before stalling again Update: for some reason the developers have decided to get rid of the refresh function. So when the app bombs out there is no way to refresh the view… Why would you eliminate the refresh function?
Please restore the upload status percentage bar!
by Fionajuliana on 2021/06/30 16:17
I am hoping the latest update truly fixes the problem with true upload speed and battery drain. Taking an hour to upload 20 pictures while having to charge my phone to prevent battery drain defeats the purpose of how convenient Dropbox is supposed to be. Please restore the status update bar that displays the percentage of upload progress. It allowed me to see how much longer the updating would take. This blue status bar that just slides back and forth is annoyingly distracting and doesn’t tell me a thing. Not an improvement in the slightest. Also, Dropbox isn’t finding all my photos to upload and I am having to manually add photos.

I don’t love it.
by Android McGuinness on 2021/06/29 13:35
I’ve been using this app for years and it’s slowly gotten worse, or at least more counterintuitive. It’s hard to manage space and it’s always pushing me to buy more instead of letting me manage the space I have. I can’t see where my space has gone because it won’t show me file sizes, it tells me that deleting files won’t free up space, and I cannot manage files that have been shared with me. One day I’ll just run out of space and quit using it, I guess.

Love this!
by Songmeilove on 2021/06/25 06:20
I love this app! It is so convenient to create folders and organize my photos so that I can get rid of photos off of my phone. I do have a few suggestions to make the usability much easier for mobile users. Start with being able to sort photos by name, except have the extra ability to switch to reverse order. Or “created” instead of only modified sorting. I love having reverse chronological order. Then, be able to easily rename folders instead of scrolling down options to be able to rename folders. Lastly, have the upload photos option be at the top of the list. At least, that is what is most intuitively useful for me. Other people might think differently, so maybe I am incorrect that this is the most used function for a Dropbox.
Still won’t upload photos
by kris.10 on 2021/06/24 21:03
I’ve had so much trouble getting the Dropbox app to find and upload photos on my iPhone 12. As soon as I updated my iPhone 8 to iOS 14, the Dropbox app could not find and would not automatically upload any photos. I’ve since bought a new phone, the 12, and still having the same issue. I went through a whole series of steps on my new phone - clearing cache, deleting/reinstalling app- which worked 1 time, but now it’s still not finding or uploading anything. It used to be so seamless and easy and now it’s a nightmare.

POOR QUALITY WHEN DOWNLOADING
SO MANY DUPLICATES
by Brennnnnaaaannnnaaa on 2021/06/23 16:17
I use Dropbox solely for backing up photos from my phone onto my computer. Within the past 1-2 years I don’t know what happened, but it produces so many duplicates. My computer goes super slow….probably because of all the duplicate files being transferred all the time. I have anywhere from 2 to 6 of the same picture and then I have to back and delete them. It transfers the original picture, hdr, love, and edited of the same picture even though my phone only has one saved image. Switched to Amazon photos.
Less stars for the photo storage
by Yoda310 on 2021/06/23 16:08
Great storage facility, it’s original use. However, it would be great if you made it easier to delete photos! Not all that are saved and photos that need to be saved, so I’m using up unnecessary space. Being able to select several and delete at once would be so much easier then the clumsy way it’s set up, having to select each one individually then pull up a menu to delete… too cumbersome!!!
Ridiculous trouble
by prc926 on 2021/06/23 02:44
I have tried for days to fix my account to match my Apple ID. It didn’t recognize that I already had a subscription and is telling me I’m out of space. When I tried to put in the original email, it said it was already taken. It’s taken by me!!
Crappy company.
by Dusk_1989 on 2021/06/22 22:34
Had them for probably close to 10 years. I needed to cancel this year and somehow still got charged the full amount. Suddenly, they have no refund policy. Amazing how that works and can’t help a customer after almost a decade. Would recommend a different company.
Web Interface more powerful
by Dennis vd H on 2021/06/22 12:55
Love Dropbox but the iPad app is pretty weak. Simple multi select and moving dozens of files is not possible. Additionally I’m still surprised how terrible the AI options in Dropbox are. No sorting by person (finding pictures is a nightmare). Duplicates are all over the place and not automatically detected and offered to merge. Things that I think an app like this should be able to do. Offering goes broader but not deeper missing the simple frustrations of the core product … storing and finding files. If I stumble on a good alternative (that’s not Google or FB I’ll move) It’s a pity as been here for years and the pain of moving is all that’s keeping me here.

Dropbox

I've had dropbox for many years. Now all of a sudden , it's no longer available on my ipad. Yes , it's an older ipad but still works great. I need my dropbox back or some kind of compatible substitute and a way to transfer my files.
Update newest version
by Beach freak on 2021/06/21 12:03
The newest version of this Ap is terrible it keeps giving me errors when back up photos I’ve used them for years but recently my ap has taken a dive. It’s also telling me now it doesn’t have enough space on my phone to back up??? What does that mean? I have plenty of space on my phone and my ap. To upload photos. Isn’t that the point? 😐I guess I’ll start using google photos to start back up photos they at least keep my photos live...
Good but I gotta problem
by IsaacStearns on 2021/06/21 00:40
For a few months now the app has not allowed me to scroll using the alphabet along the right. It only scrolls from the first of the list to the last of the list and nothing in between. I’ve tried deleting and re-downloading. I’ve also tried clearing the cache and it doesn’t fix it either.

Upload continuation outside of the app
by oddesiusperry on 2021/06/20 13:16
I've been using Dropbox for many many years and appreciate the update. My only wish is that photos that I started uploading into Dropbox via the app would continue to upload even when/if I exit out of the app. Maybe it's just me but I've noticed that uploads will pause if I don't have the app open, which then forces me to stay in the Dropbox app until all uploads are complete. Overall great app.
Love the app

I’ve had a Dropbox for years now and I’ve loved it! It wasn’t until last week when I attempted to open up my Dropbox app that it showed I was logged out. I did not think anything of it until I attempted to log back in. I tried multiple times until I finally did reset password. I did reset password and Dropbox gave a message saying if we find an email associated with the account then you’ll get the reset email. I waited 5 minutes and got no email so I repeated the process multiple times and got no email. I know it’s the right email because I screenshot my Dropbox account one day! Ive tried reaching out to customer care on multiple social media platforms as well as the Dropbox website and no one ever contacted me back!! It’s nearly impossible to talk to a real representative of the company!! Don’t download this app if you like poor customer service and having ur account deleted
Thanks for nothing
by Cybersco on 2021/06/19 19:24
Whatever you've done on the latest update, it forced me to login after all these years, but doesn’t let me invoke a keyboard to actually use my credentials. Nice job……..NOT!

I’ve been using Dropbox on my iPhones since 2013. It always worked great until this past month. I use dropbox for my camera roll upload on my iPhone. My windows PC is connected to dropbox also since 2013, so I can copy my camera roll photos from dropbox onto my computer. For the past month the only upload that dropbox is taking from my camera roll is the videos I record. For some reason dropbox is not recognizing any photos that I take that are in my camera roll. Can you Please help fix this! Thank you. 👍“”THANKS 4THE EMAIL & THANKS 4 FIXING 😊! I did what you said about clearing the apps cache. And the photos work now. by Elliot Chalme on 2021/06/15 15:40
I absolutely love dropbox. I use it for everything. Business, personal, photo backup, link sharing, you name it. I just think that the camera uploads section needs a bit of an update. Similar to how google photos is a whole app dedicated to your entire library of photos. I have all my photos and albums etc on my iPhone, but they take up a ton of space. I wish there was an easy way to search for locations, people, objects, dates, etc in Dropbox photos!
Stop making me rate you and I’ll give you a five star

False Charges! Beware Purchasing this App!
by NowhereVan on 2021/06/15 13:04
I was just charged 12 dollars by Dropbox and yet I received no upgrade. A cursory look around their "community help" (they in fact offer no support!--you are at the mercy of a useless chatbot or basically a bulletin board, therefore if you are charged for a service you did not receive, i.e., SCAMMED, you are helpless). Do not purchase or download this app unless you feel like literally giving money away.

I am an artist (musician) and I use Dropbox daily. Maybe even hourly. Please. I beg of you. Add a “repeat” function to your audio file player. I spend hours in the studio but when I’m on the go I listen to my tracks through Dropbox. I need to be able to listen on loop instead of hitting play again and again time after time. Especially when driving. I’m no software developer but I’m sure this could be implemented easily. I love you all. Been using you for over a decade now. Thank you for everything.

Horrid Security! New version error
by Jay Dee Ohh on 2021/06/12 14:13
I installed this version on a new iPad. It will not let me sign on with my email address. I can’t get my cursor into the email address section. It accepts only Google and Apple sign-ins. This used to work fine with my Dropbox ID and password. I have reported this to Dropbox support.
Great! But...
by Sjshdudjnrj on 2020/01/22 20:42
Ok, so first off, I want to let the devs know that they did an amazing job making this app. It has a simple design, looks great, and is very user-friendly. One thing is that Google Drive offers 15GB for free, while I think Dropbox only offers 2GB. Maybe for the free version, upgrade that a little bit. Anyway, I mainly use Dropbox over any other service, because I believe it's better, but I might have to switch to Google Drive for more free storage. The one thing that I would add to it, is shortcuts. For example, if I could have all my files in one big folder, and them scatter them across different folders using shortcuts to the same file, in the big folder. I use Dropbox to keep my music MP3's, but I can't have them in different floders without copying and pasting, which would take up twice the storage. I would have multiple folders, and ,for example, have my song in one folder, and another, without doubling the storage. I would want them both to point to the MP3 in the big folder with all my files, that I mentioned before. I would love to have this tool, and I'm sure a ton of others would. This would definitely bring you over the top better than the other cloud storage providers. Thank you for making an awesome program for us to use!
Great App but very unstable after update
by KJP2U on 2019/06/23 18:34
I’m having the same issue as Dudebraj9000. I have an iPhone 8 and have been using Dropbox for years. I agree that the updates have had no added value other than adding additional steps. When I’m uploading photos, I can no longer scroll down to see which photos are uploading. It jumps back to the top. Also, when I go to a photo album from Dropbox to upload photos, it will jump to photos from 2017 or 2018 unless I scroll real slow. Also, if I “move” photos from one folder to another, it now leaves me at the folder the photos got moved to instead of the folder I was working on... really annoying. I believe that if I “copy” photos from one folder to another, it will put me back to the folder I was working on, which is the way it has always been. Lastly, I had disconnected any auto uploads or syncing to Dropbox from the start, yet there is an album again called Dropbox with photos sitting in it... some very old photos. So I don’t know if those photos were uploaded or not. I have never auto synced my photos with Dropbox because I like having control of it. I gave you 5 stars because I use Dropbox every day and I trust that you will fix these issues. Overall, it has been fantastic, but more so in the older versions.
Horrible Background Battery Usage
by Parvani Symphony on 2021/01/07 14:20
I really love the app and it gives me the ability to share my files between my iPad and my desktop computer easily. I originially got Dropbox because Google Drive was draining my battery by constantly running in the background. Well, my battery has been draining again over time by almost 30% or more at times. I checked my battery usage and Dropbox was running in the background for 7 hours straight. Why? I looked up the issue, and someone mentioned the only way to fix it was to disable it in the File app on my device, but I don’t want to do that, because sometimes I do need to access things from that app, or move things that way. I understand that it checks the folder in Files and makes sure everything is synced to the actual Dropbox app, but 7 hours? There’s also an issue where if I upload items to Dropbox within the app, if I close the app, it stops uploading. I have to have the app open for it to finish uploading. I’ve never had to deal with that before. Not sure if these are Apple issues or Dropbox issues. I hope there’s another fix for it though, because I shouldn’t be going to sleep with my iPad at 100% and waking up to it already down to 70%. I guess I will do the temporary fix in files for now, unless I find another cloud service that doesn’t drain my battery all day.

My smart phone has my resume in pdf. Form and that should be it. But no, these stupid app companies are in bed together and so I have to keep downloading app after app after app just apply for jobs. Each app just another security risk, just another way for my info to end up in the wrong hands. Might as well be you know what in a box, Totally unacceptable. Zero stars is the real review. Stop making cloud based crap we already have through oh idk the 16 other apps that do a similar job. This is an edit...after reading some reviews I ask those people if they are using windows 98? Do you not remember that our smart phones and their services were already doing all of this? Did you not already have cloud based service through your smart phone brand or google? Why accept yet another app that is cloud based for yet another way to have your private photos and documents out in another cloud. “The devs are smart” yeah after building the same features into every other cloud based app they realized they needed another job so here is Dropbox, next year it will be “boxdrop” or “doccushare3000”! I’m sure there is some feature that is unique to Dropbox that has you all saying that it’s totally different. You mean something that could have just been added to any other cloud based service? I know it’s free but I didn’t want another app on my phone, another account, another, another, another, another......
Good features, horrible customer service
by MarlaE on 2020/05/30 14:09
I’ve used Dropbox for years with no issues, although it is overpriced and their peculiar insistence on landing you on “Recents” rather than “My Files” is annoying. However, if you must purchase Dropbox, do it on their site and not via the App Store. Here’s why: They sent me a note saying my payment method (Apple) was invalid and I had to “update” my payment method with Apple or lose my paid features on May 31st. Spoke with tech support via chat and confirmed that my payment info is up to date, and that it has successfully gone through for ApplePay, dozens of other apps, and a couple of streaming services. He escalated me to someone who days later sent me a boilerplate email that showed he hadn’t read anything from the previous conversation. I replied, explaining again. No answer. I wrote back asking for an ETA on a response, as May 31 was fast approaching. No answer. Then on May *29* — two days before the supposed deadline — I got an email saying “Your account has been downgraded.” Finally managed to resubscribe by severing my payment within Apple and purchasing on their site (although now I wish I hadn’t). And *still* no response from customer service.
One year no change
by TiredMomAndNurse on 2020/04/14 02:19
A year ago I reached out for help bc all of my photos I edited on my phone or the hundreds of “portrait mode” iPhone photos were uploaded in their original mode and their “edited” portrait mode. When you click “automatic upload” it uploads your photos in chronological order with dates they were created. Which is great. On the portrait mode or any edited photo, it uploads two versions. I was going through and looking at file size and deleting the one that wasn’t edited so that my terabyte of storage wouldn’t be full. The tip they gave me was to click “manual upload” and manually upload all of the portrait mode or edited photos that I wanted to not have doubled. I did this. The photos were not uploaded by date taken and the file names were changed. But they were not doubled. Then, I clicked “automatic upload” to upload all of the other unedited photos and it still uploaded the edited ones I had manually uploaded bc the file names were different. I have reached out a handful of times about having an option to click or fixing the manual upload bug that changes the file names and causes more duplicates. No changes have been made. Dropbox is the most expensive storage app but don’t expect the most expensive quality.
So much potential, very buggy
by hr150123 on 2021/03/02 00:30
I’ve been using this app daily for work, for over a year now. Every single time I create a folder and select upload photos, I will be scrolling on my camera roll and it if I’m not actively clicking photos right off the bat, it freezes and jumps to the start of my camera roll (I have 20k photos in my camera roll, going back to 2017). The only way to avoid this is by clicking upload photos, and immediately start rapidly tapping random photos until it unfreezes. I have always updated the app, and it’s done this on more than one iPhone. Still happening on my 12 Pro. 2nd issue that just started happening: I name every folder by date. Suddenly almost all my folders are out of order. They randomly just start not being organized by date as I scroll down. I make sure to select “sort by date modified” and it does nothing. No matter what I sort by, nothing changes in the order. It’s becoming very frustrating as I rely on this app for work. I’m confused by all the positive reviews because my experience has been this for several months now.
I really wanted to like Dropbox
by Artemis12234 on 2020/02/03 16:43
This is a review on Dropbox in general. I wanted to use Dropbox to back up files I accumulate on both my phone and my computer over time onto a cloud. This includes work files (minimal though) and (mostly) personal photos/videos. But I have so many issues syncing files whether it be from my phone or my computer, I just can’t do it anymore; it takes way too much time. And I’ve had the paid version for a couple months now! I thought maybe Dropbox just had a learning curve but the issues are perennial. I constantly have to troubleshoot the syncing and google solutions for things like clearing the cache on my Mac. It’s like I have to treat Dropbox like a baby, only back up 50 photos at a time or it glitches and never uploads at all. Even troubleshooting pages from the Dropbox website don’t solve my problems, even if it’s only 4 simple steps. I don’t understand—I thought DropBox was a large and reputable company used by professionals. I’m using Dropbox for mostly light, personal reasons and it doesn’t work properly. Looks like I’m going to have to back up the old fashioned way: external hard drives.
Great app except...
by aWiiPeanut on 2020/04/14 13:16
Overall this is a great app. It allows you to categorize your files just like on a computer with folders and sub-folders, etc. It is relatively easy to move files around from your ipad or phone, send them to another app to markup, and upload. The main problem I have with this app is the buttons at the bottom of the page when you are viewing a document. They have recently added a big blue button right in the middle at the bottom that says OPEN. The grid and magnifying glass buttons to the left of that were bad enough but now I have to try and read around the big OPEN button as well. I use Dropbox a lot for quizzing myself and I’ll save questions/answers and scroll through them, answering them in my head as I go. The buttons get in the way of reading my questions because scrolling too much will show me the answer. These buttons need to be added into the top banner or lower banner and not on their own. It would make this a 5 star app for me!
It deleted my entire Desktop
by KeoniKS on 2020/04/24 07:47
After a recent computer crash I had I was attempting to put things back to normal and reinstalled Dropbox. After it installed and logged in it was already full but attempted to copy and sync my entire desktop. This didn’t happen before when I first installed it and it began lagging my entire computer. So I tried deleting the folder but it took my entire desktop from my computer and multiple files ranging from personal and work. Trying to recover failed because there file box it was trying to sync was only a partial download and only had file folder names and none of the content. I’m not gonna pay for an app that will try to take on more than it can handle on the free plan. I’ve only used this app to make it easier to share files between computer to phone not entire programs from the desktop nor did I ask it to sync. I might have screwed by a simple update for the sync computer but I never had an option for how to sync it and I usually have to initiate it but this was unexpected and stacked up on current problems.
One last thing
by Nightmare13473 on 2020/02/09 23:48
I’m really happy u added a Dark version to it, now I’m not straining my eyes with all the white, I never liked bright things, but to get to the point, there’s one last thing I would love for u to add to the app. I download audio files on Dropbox and I use it to listen to it when ever my WiFi decided to cut out for a few hours (ya it does that I’ve been trying to get it fixed) now it plays the files just fine, but whenever the song ends, it doesn’t go to the next one, so I have to stop whatever I’m doing, go the the app, and either replay the same song or just find a new one to listen too. And I don’t like being stopped in the middle of drawing or doing work. Is there a way u could add a media player or something? Like when u play a music or video file it just goes or opens up the media player? Plz if u can do it I’ll be very great full, I'd definitely have less distractions when I do my work.
All files lost and not given a refund
by Tahisha on 2020/02/12 16:57
Edit: The company’s response is unacceptable to me, neither taking accountability for their lack of communication or defrauding me out of my money. I will never be using or recommending their services to anyone and with these business practices I am sure they will go out of business sooner rather than later! I found charges on a credit card statement that I thought had been cancelled going back two years with a monthly subscription to Dropbox. Because the account was linked to an old email address that I could not recover, I lost about a thousand photos of my family and travels. When I contacted Dropbox the agent I communicated with refused to speak with me on the phone, could not recover my photos, would not refund me the monthly subscription that I had been paying for this “service” unless I gave them my credit card number over email, AND would not let me speak to anyone else. If I could give zero stars I absolutely would, this is a horrible company. Google Drive is superior in every single way and I have never had a single issue with them!!
Scary! Shared link - My recipient has access to my Dropbox account
by Travel brain on 2020/10/01 20:45
Hi. I have been using Dropbox for many years now. And it’s in my top three apps of about 200 apps in my iPhone. I will still “after this incident” give 5*. But something SCARY happened to me today. It goes like this..... Today I sent five links to one of my clients. I sent the links via outlook app on iphone 11 pro. After few hours my client called me back and said "I can see ALL your folders in your DropBox Account". I went to my account shared tab, so I may delete those links. Suprisingly those links are not in the shared link list. Then I went to the security tab in settings and I changed my password. Then I logged out from dropbox in my phone, and sent an email with shared links to myself. When I click the links I received, they automatically open my dropbox, though I'm signed out. To confirm that I launched my dropbox app but it asks me to login. Finally. I took down ALL my files and transferred them to my iCloudrive . My Dropbox account is empty now! Anyway. I think this is a big security issue. For now, can some one help me to expire the liniks which I sent to my client. Or is there a way to recall an email that I sent fifteen hours ago. outlook app for iphone. please help. thanks

App disables your account for no reason
by John hanti on 2021/04/10 07:20
I have had dropbox for years and one day i tried to login and it suddenly says log back in again. I do it several times and it doesn’t work. After the 3rd try it disables my account. I try to go to support to write to them and it also gets disabled which makes it impossible to tell them what is going on. You are voiceless if you get locked out. Then i go to Twitter and they don’t respond for days I try to send them a message from a different dropbox and it says it has to be logged in from the same email you need help from which they have disabled. I have been waiting for days and they have not emailed me back to solve the issues. I will call my legal team soon. They are horrible at helping you when you are stuck and no phone number to call. On top of that they keep charging me every month. I recommend working with a service that can be reached In crisis. Even if you have the plus account you cannot reach them unless you are logged in but if you are locked out how are you supposed to get through ??? They will say send us an email from the same account that you are locked out from but you cannot because they do mot accept outgoing emails. The staff is untrained and you can lose all your data. My legal team is ready to bash them for there shameful ways Very low grade system. I lost so much money losing access to my files these days. Horrible.
Stop changing stuff!
by Dudebraj9000 on 2018/09/18 09:03
Why do you guys constantly insist on changing the whole interface of the app? Seriously. Every update things are different, and not in a good way. Also, I can’t scroll down on my synced folders anymore. It makes my files disappear when I try. This started after the recent update. I’m not one of those “let me speak to your manager” kind of people but I just had to let you know how bad my experience has been so far. Please fix it, and leave it that way unless there’s a really important bug to fix. Also gave you 5 stars because I know you’re hard working people over there and I pay for pro. Don’t hate the app, just hate the constant changes to the overall look of the app that honestly seem more like a step backward than forward.
Too much money for notta lotta “service”
by The Notorious t.i.g on 2018/07/12 00:39
After the recent update, DropBox stopped working properly for camera-roll upload on my iPad. Their solution? Remove the app, forget the network, fully restart the iPad, re-connect to the network, and re-install the app. Seriously? Good thing I have nothing else to do ... oh, wait. Basement flooded. So yeah, I have something else to do that's rather urgent. Good news is that yes, this did in fact resolve the issue, but really, I have other things to do in my life than reset apps with updates that fail. Especially when paying $75/month for the business version. For $75 a month I expect a MUCH better UI, amazing support, in-file search (not just the file titles), and so much more. Instead, we get the un/re-install merry-go-round, an ok UI, low-availability support (US normal business hours only), and an amazingly klugey sync setup. Heaven help you if your Mac has an external drive. What happens when you get a new Mac? It downloads everything from Dropbox again, even though all I did was remove the USB plug from the old machine to the new. Good job, Dropbox. Well done. Now I gotta wait for 4T of data to re-synch. Their super awesome support response? Well, we told you external drives might not work as expected. I’m totally looking for another service. Seriously, $900 a year for this? I feel like an idiot for locking myself into this “service”.
Attach a Dropbox File to an Email from Within Gmail Not Supported on an iPad
by SoulForce1 on 2020/04/08 01:10
I am paperless and use DropBox for literally everything business and personal, therefore, I find it extremely annoying and cumbersome that when composing an email using Gmail on my iPad I cannot attach a file directly from Dropbox. When I select the attach function (paper clip), the only options for attachment sources that appear are Google Drive, camera roll, and recents. The online help forums state that I should approach the problem in reverse, namely, open my file in DropBox then select Open File in Gmail. While this does open a new Gmail message with the file as an attachment, this backward workaround is useless if I already have started composing an email within Gmail because the attachment cannot be assigned to another preexisting email within Gmail. Also, there seems to be no way to attach more than one file to the same email. Email attachments are a very basic function that every user needs so I would think DropBox would make fixing this issue a priority.
The love is gone...
by Kht2015 on 2019/10/09 13:21
I used to love Dropbox. Started using it when I was a student when it first came out. Now I used it mostly for ebooks in the .prc files and export directly to Kindle. Have it on both my Iphone and Ipad. But for some reason after the last update I cannot directly export those books to Kindle anymore. When I click on the file Dropbox doesn't recognize it as a Kindle document anymore and came across as data and said it is incompatible with Kindle when exporting. I have been doing it for years. It still works on my Iphone because I have not updated. I was planning to upgrade to a better account but with this issue I am about to jump ship and forget Dropbox altogether. Every major update brings more headache. I am considered tech savvy and can navigate thru pretty much major upgrade/updates on most apps. But this is just too much. I have many files in .prc and now cannot export.
Doesn’t work

I have tried hundreds of times to use this application in different capacities, and it does not, to even a slight extent, serve the purpose it’s intended for. My hatred for this stupid website and this stupid app goes beyond words. The frustration is difficult to articulate. The frustration is furthered by the fact that an app that can do what Dropbox is intended to do would be remarkably helpful. I have tried with four different email accounts. I’ve tried not using an email account at all, but even the simplest of tasks do not work on this useless pathetic excuse for a file storage site. If you don’t have an account and all you want to do is download or view a file in someone else’s Dropbox, forget about it. You’ll just be continuously harassed to pay for the service. If you do pay for the service, the same issue, constant notifications asking you to pay more or telling you your storage is full even when it’s entirely empty. You will find more joy and success doing something like jamming a screwdriver into your eye socket.
Thank Goodness for Dropbox!
by Rebecculous on 2020/10/28 12:38
I’ve been using this app for...holy cow! Almost ten years! And over those years I’ve had 15 different devices: 1 laptop, plus numerous phones and tablets. I always install Dropbox as part of setting up any new device. About a year ago I met a young couple in crisis, suddenly homeless after his dad died suddenly and they lived with him. The landlord locked them out as the coroner departed...anyway; I naively let them stay with me and they robbed me. The worst thing they took was every dead iPad from the last ten years and all the photos therein. Years of photos, irreplaceable photos of children and grandchildren, even photos of older photos of my parents as newlyweds, etc...they are so precious. Fortunately, I have Dropbox and all my photos upload automatically.
Never liked Dropbox and still don’t
by Conan the Reviewer on 2019/03/14 04:17
This app is confusing and hard to use. A friend sent me a Dropbox link of a song file, and when I clicked on it I got the option to either get the song in the browser or “download the app,” which I had already done. I clocked the latter option, and it just brought me to the App Store. When I clicked open no notice appeared about the download; it just took me to the app. As far as I can tell there’s no way to search through emails or Facebook messenger from the Dropbox app to download the link. I then went back to the link and clicked the other option, “open in browser,” which took me to a playable file but again gave me no options to download the file. I’ve always had problems with Dropbox, and the only time I use it is when someone shares something with me on it. This was one of those times, and though this was my first time using the iPhone app, I came away from it disappointed as usual.
Great except keeps losing recent files
by Paul, just Paul ... on 2018/10/26 00:27
99% of the time when I used this app, it is to do something with one of the three or four files I have most recently edited. For some reason this app keeps losing track of those, which makes it take much longer to use. Last time it was because they forced dropbox paper towns artificially find a recent list, this time the paper staff is back again and all my recent files have disappeared. There is no option to remove the paper spam from the recent list. For bonus points they say it’s easy to contact them if you have problems about the app. It isn’t. When I finally found a way, their support page doesn’t work; it won’t let me choose a device and therefore won’t let submit a ticket. This is of course on my iPhone, the same device the app is running on, using safari, the default and dominant browser. Ridiculous.
Now that it’s fixed, it works well.
by Thistlelip on 2019/11/18 22:50
A few days after leaving this review with a one star rating the issue was fixed. When this app is working it’s quite good. This app was great until a few weeks ago when an update removed the ability to close a file and have the entire screen be for the titles of files. As it is now, the only way one can view titles of files that are more than seven characters or so is to start the process of moving a file which then gives a screen that shows the titles. I pay annually for Dropbox and thus have another 9 months before it will be financially feasible to switch services, but if you have not already paid for Dropbox, I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT PAY FOR THIS app. At least until such time as they correct this issue. It is practically unusable as is.
Support
by KENO4RENO on 2020/12/16 10:57
Don’t have the business Dropbox I have the lower one I don’t need a business one because I’m a single person that does not work but unfortunately there’s no support for anybody that pays $118 a year instead of the $200 a year of having a terrible time I accidentally canceled my subscription and I’m trying to re-activate it and pay and there’s absolutely no way to get a hold of anybody in the business account people will talk to you but they won’t help you because I’m not business you should have support for us as well we’re not that penny-ante that you can help us. Your response to me was do I want to change my review the answer is no and you’re not getting it I never had a business account with you ever only the personal account can you send me the splitting things to get help by upgrading it’s all about the money with you people instead of actual business in the care of the actual person insane every year I’ve been with you for over 45 years I’m done hopefully my pictures will be safe
Dropbox doing everything they can to devalue the free account
by rktca on 2020/07/31 17:56
I know that Dropbox needs to make money to survive but going from $0 to $120/yr is a huge leap for what is now a commodity service. I don’t need 2TB of storage and there’s nothing in between. For cloud storage all I need is like 20GB (which Dropbox doesn’t even offer). For secure cloud backup use something like Backblaze. The new-ish three device limit is so annoying I am likely to just swap over to Box and be done with Dropbox. I have like 6 devices that I used to sync up. Removing free features certainly won’t “convince” me of the value of Dropbox paid plans and is more an indicator of how little I can trust Dropbox. Perhaps it’s intended to get rid of customers who won’t pay $120/yr. At least they haven’t had a security breach (that I’m aware of) for a few years. Please remember to encrypt any files on Dropbox that you don’t want someone else to read.
Now Requires App Subscriptions
by justmyopiniontoo on 2020/02/27 16:44
After years of being able to view PDFs, Spreadsheets and Documents, the app now forces one to subscribe to Adobe, Excel, etc. To what purpose? Those of us not using it for business are not trying to update anything: we’re only wanting to view documents that we generate elsewhere. Without the option of “view only,” this app has become useless and only gets one star as Apple won’t allow zero. Edit to Response to Developer’s Reply: I am able now to either open a password protected file for view-only by selecting the “go” key on the keyboard, bypassing the “open” icon for Excel, or ignoring the “go” key and selecting the “open” icon to follow the Excel pathway to edit the file. Thanks! Response to Developer’s Reply: Your reply is demonstrably false. Despite the indications in your help link, the App stopped opening Excel and PDF files that are password protected without using Excel and Adobe. There’s nothing like entering a password in response to Dropbox and then dealing with the prompt maze of those applications to finally get another password screen from them. After years of successfully entering file passwords at your prompt, this happened after *your* upgrades and before I chose to update to iOS 13.3 from 12.x. This is all on you.
Five stars for completely disappointing me!!
by keilaa.17 on 2018/07/24 10:01
I’ve had this app for a while now. They promise to keep all your pictures safe “NO MATTER WHAT” which is all a lie! Let’s say u lose access to the account for a bit so you are inactive with it. Well without them even asking for your permission, they decide to erase your account and all the pictures you saved with it!! I completely believed them like an idiot and deleted my pictures and gave it to them so they can “KEEP IT SAFE” and without even consulting me or thinking about the fact that I have important pictures and things I actually wanted them to keep safe, they just erase and pretend like nothing ever happened. I completely do not recommend this app!! PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT!!! GET EVERALBUM OR EVEN GOOGLE PICTURES BUT DO NOT USE THIS!!!
Love DB, wish I could afford you
by Jeslive on 2020/10/20 19:14
I don’t remember when I signed up for DB, but over that time I’ve been able to save stuff that I couldn’t find a place to save on my iPad. Do I sound digitally challenged, I am. I realize DB must be an excellent tool for business, etc, but as an individual Im thankful to use it to keep my info safe and organized. I wish there was a low-mid level sub price, because it would be worth it to me to have a secure site I trust. I understand marketing to business and generating revenue, but I’ll bet there are lots of individuals, who don’t need 2 TB of storage, who would like a safe option with a reputable site...(and don’t want to seem like unappreciative mooches). In any case, thank you. FIVE STARS!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
“Free” trial
by fitzymamaof4 on 2021/03/28 13:57
Someone sent me photos via Dropbox and I thought I had to have Dropbox to access or use the photos. So I downloaded the app and chose the free 30 day trial but couldn’t figure anything out so I “upgraded” I truly despise “free” 30 day trials that require your credit card information to begin and that should have given me pause before I went ahead and entered it, but these were pictures from my grandsons 1st birthday party. Now that I am trying to cancel the “free” subscription so I’m not charged at the end of the thirty days, it’s not such an easy process as to click a button. Tech savvy I’m not and navigating and trying to use Dropbox was/is not simple for me and canceling definitely is not! This is a great reminder to me to NEVER get a free 30 day trial of something that isn’t truly free. Still haven’t managed to use the app in any useful way that makes sense or is easy for a non tech person. I’m sure it’s wonderful for some folks I just don’t happen to be one and won’t recommend it to others.
Slow to upload
by Dcarson67 on 2021/03/25 19:33
I’ve used this app in the past and it was ok. I needed more storage recently and downloaded it again. 1900 + pics and here I am a week later still waiting for more than 90% to upload so I can remove the files from my phone. Pics only upload when the app is open on your phone. Yup you have to stare at 2000 + to upload to their server. If your anything like me and normal, not doing anything else while waiting to upload is extremely hard to do. I use my phone for business and I could be looking at the files being uploaded only to get an email I have to respond to and then 2 hours later go to check drop box and only one file was uploaded. If the app is launched why do I have to stare at files being uploaded? Makes no sense. I should be able to do other things on my device while things are being uploaded.
Feature needed!
by Fer.Oropeza on 2020/12/03 01:27
Hi! I've been your client for over a year now, and I truly believe Dropbox is the best cloud storing app out there, it's the only one I pay and need honestly. I would just really love if it would give me the option of deleting what I upload, right there in the app after uploading my pictures and files. IPhone is too bad to organize pictures because they're all on the camera roll, so I usually organize them on Dropbox, but it's kind of annoying having to go back to my pictures or my files to look for the exact same archives I just uploaded and delete them manually. I don't think we need duplicate items, so if I am uploading them to the cloud it's most likely because I don't want them on my phone anymore right? That feature would save me so so much time. Thank you!
Deleted all my photos
by Piano Mom 0102 on 2019/10/05 23:59
I received emails from Dropbox saying my account was being deleted due to inactivity. (This is a data STORAGE service. How active is one supposed to be?). Their website said data would not be deleted for 2 weeks after the user’s account was closed. I contacted customer support the day I received the email that my account had been closed. I followed the online instructions to reactivates account. However, my photos were gone!! Customer service was not able to help retrieve the photos, nor provide an explanation as to why they were deleted within hours after the account was closed. Your data is not safe on this site, especially with the free version. Dropbox, don’t offer a free version if you are not going to protect the user’s data. I am not referring to the security of the site, but rather the lack of regard they have for the data of people using their site. Two words: Google Drive Bye Dropbox.
Garbage for how much everyone is using this service
by Zazzers on 2019/04/12 03:16
My buddy has been trying to send me links on Dropbox for years and i used to always have problems with them yet I’m very computer savvy. I finally just signed up for an account because I was forced to transfer some legal documents. As far as I’m concerned dropbox is poorly designed. It should be so extremely simple yet it it is so extremely frustrating. On the desktop I have to login only to get to another page where I have to login again I go back to the first page it seems to be a verifiable page on by dropbox yet it just takes me to another login page very frustrating. Yesterday I’m trying to send the second MP4 file to my lawyer and it just won’t share it this year option is not even there. I could go on but I don’t care. I will pretty much avoid dropbox as much as possible and look for another file sharing service like you should too !!!!
🚫 Not upgrading
by The Blonde Cookie on 2018/10/30 02:50
After looking down the long list of seriously bad recent reviews, I’m NOT doing the latest upgrade (operating under the theory “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”). What I’m using now, while far from perfect, is adequate; I don’t have to wrestle constantly with the software, and I know what workarounds I need to employ to get ‘er done, so…its not a perfect world, but no new surprises. I already knew their customer support was nonexistent; I have a “story” of my own. I hope someone sues them for false advertising (for claiming they have customer support). I’d say it’s possible to win that in a court of law: if someone pays for a product and substantially relies on the written description of something (“we have customer service available to serve you,” or whatever is written), there’s a case to be made if the person or business incurred a provable loss due to that reliance. Hmmm… 🤔 Dropbox appears to have gone the way of so many apps - it’s all about the Benjamin’s (as opposed to quality, reliable customer support). But, of course, the less peeps employed, the better the bottom line looks. I noticed, however, that their marketing department must be working overtime. How a 4.7 star rating is possible with as many really bad (recent) reviews is absolutely beyond me. Of course, no one would ever skew the review numbers to make an app look more attractive, would they? 🙄
Connect A computer
by Hotshtuf on 2018/08/06 20:35
Oh my gosh! I was having a difficult time logging in on my desktop - trying to remember my password and it wouldn’t let me in. I figured I’ll just continue to use the app on my phone, until I saw the “Connect A Computer” button. I pressed it and in a matter of seconds (I’d say less than 45secs) I was able to get into my account on my desktop computer. It was just three easy steps! I’ve been using Dropbox for almost 8 years and thought it was good but nothing outstanding enough to write a review until now. I just hate the little badge icon that appears on a document when saved in Dropbox. I hide it but it comes back... All good tho!
Gone down hill
by gtw145 on 2020/10/19 15:08
This use to be great but now it is horrible When I am in need and there is a issue there is no support. The support is so bad it just as well be non existent They have a silly chat box that serves no reason other than to frustrating you more . Twitter support for a company is a sign someone is hiding for their responsibility. If need they don’t respond! Not here is the worst one A community based support meaning the owner of this community is so lazy it is passing its duty to the customers! When I made a post it took 5 days to get a response then the person could not help . The drop box feature and app doesn’t play well with others and is absolutely blocked by Chrome so sync a resume through Drop box is a fight every single time . If you have important stuff you need to save don’t do here because if no improvements are made you will lose access and with lame support options that means you are left out to dry! If your our paying for a premium services from here then you better make arrangements because any company than is unprofessional enough to charge people money without a customer support service is bad news and the reviews are starting to reflect this. There are other options that are free with 3 times the storage of DropBox and Drive that work beautifully with all browsers so google alternatives .
A love affair gone sour. Where’s the Integrity?
by Ti leaf on 2019/07/03 03:39
I LOVED the old Dropbox. The more bells and whistles you added the worse mess my Dropbox life became. I relied on you for when I traveled and I am a writer, and am heavily research and archive needy. It used to work for me. Now I am somehow getting crossfeed from Microsoft Word, and the files that get into Drop Box, just show me weird icons with “data”. But no data or files. This is beyond maddening. I upgraded to add more storage for the creative arts work my husband and I do, and now my photos are stored in some bizarre, indecipherable logic, and with over 12,000 of them...that is a drag. I agree with every single person who said, it used to work great and the. Upgrades shoot me in the foot for several weeks of forensic admin to get it sorted. I have work to do besides the fact that customers are not paid to work for Dropbox. Please become more user friendly else I abandon Dropbox, and move my data world to my own online island! Thanks for taking this as not a complaint, but a call for the Integrity of the initial DropBox Platform.
Music Player?
by moukeefe on 2019/09/29 20:55
I’ve been using Dropbox for years. It’s great. One thing I’ve always wanted to have though was a music player that would play consecutive songs or playlists/folders. I have many original music projects going on at any given time and I like to be able to listen to them for further writing inspirations whenever I have a free minute, which is usually when I’m riding my bike from one place to another. I end up having to look down at my phone while I’m riding in order to start the next song and it can get kinda dicey while riding a bike. I have no other issues with the app besides not being able to listen to my music files consecutively. That would make it perfect, for me anyway. Thanks, keep up the good work!
Not worth the hassle if your expecting to store things long term
by laurenie338 on 2019/12/13 17:46
This was one of the first file sharing cloud apps. However, there are much better more efficient apps out there now as the way they promote cloud is old news. Now with cloud you can usually use the storage with or without being active for x amount of months etc. it will always be there so long as you don’t delete from it . That is not the case with this app and seems to be a common complaint . Many have lost important files including myself on account of not seeing a deactivation email. Moral of the story is drop box is out google cloud and icloud are in . Drop-box May as well be obsolete when compared to the other Choices now , that don’t delete your files just after 12 months of inactivity.. 🤷🏽‍♀️
DON’T DELETE THINGS OFF OF IT!
by Splazzatch56 on 2020/09/24 19:14
So this is perfect. I can get things from my ox to my phone. Everything about this is useful. Except for the fact that downloading the application on your laptop never works. Nothing I ever upload on it shows up on my phones app. It’s horrible. It takes 10 times longer on the website and half the time it cancels. The website works, but the app on pc doesn’t. The big issue I have is that I uploaded it to the app on my pc. But I realized it didn’t work so I deleted off of that and went to the website. Big mistake. It deleted that ENTIRE FILE! I am not happy with that. And the thing is it didn’t even tell me it would! It didn’t even ask for confirmation! It’s a terrible thing. Please fix this and this will be perfect. Oh and one other thing. WHY DO YIU ONLY GET 5 GIGABYTES WHEN YOU DON’T PAY FOR IT. It also doesn’t help that they really overprice it.
Horrible
by donna381 on 2019/01/06 18:09
Useless app. Not user friendly. I spent an hour just trying to figure out how to open a file, seriously an hour, and could not get past “download Dropbox paper”. Never succeeded in opening one file, much less sharing files between devices. Googled help for this app and was told to click buttons that did not exist (but clearly should exist!). You would think an app that is supposed to help you manage documents would at least have a straightforward way to open a file. That’s the most basic thing most users would want to do and after one hour a person of at least average intelligence can’t do it. I typed the name of my document in the search bar and it told me it wasn’t found. Double checked for typos, again it wasn’t found. Tried with just one word which I knew to be contained in many of my document files... still “not found”. Ridiculous and frustrating.
Dropbox has been hard, but paintings look amazing
by Max sword on 2020/08/26 03:53
Ok so really Dropbox is good at some things and amazingly competent at other things. They will not support the Dropbox app ( I didn’t know) the instructions are finally being edited for clarity and ease of understanding. Answers can be hard to get, although they reply fairly quickly, simple answers can take multiple emails. Now the amazing way they make my digital scans of paintings is off the charts!! Stratosphere type work. The files fit the whole frame for mobile responsive design. The file handling can be screwed up to easy( layers and nested files and folders) as you learn. I had a hard time learning Dropbox, but it was mostly my fault and now I’m really enjoying Dropbox and trying to explore all the options available.
Long time user - one ask!
by naliye on 2020/05/22 16:25
Hi there! I’ve been with Dropbox for what feels like a common law marriage length of time. I’ve been backing up all of my photos for years to Dropbox rather than keeping them in my iCloud. There is one feature however that I’m DYING for you to implement. In the Apple photos app you have this open search technology where you can search “apples” or “beach” or “Mom” and the photos get easily pulled up for you. I would be over the moon thrilled if you could build a search functionality like this to the Dropbox app. I spend so much time digging through years of images. It would take forever to move them back to iCloud just to make it easier to index but I am tempted! Thanks so much for hearing me out. Appreciate it!
Picture & Video upload is broken
by Ktobs on 2018/10/27 16:12
Picture & video upload now constantly crashes. Very slow upload when it does work. Refuses to upload when the battery is low (even if its plugged in and currently charging!) If I have low battery don't you think it would be IMPORTANT to be able to upload/backup what I can before it dies?!? At the very least they should be an option that says 'continue anyway'. And if the phone is already charging I don't see why that matters? I can't upload a SINGLE picture? Really? Why does dropbox decide when I can or can't upload pics? This used to be a great app but recently it's falling apart. The media player is missing many desired features like fast forward/rewind 15 seconds, etc. Please fix the app! I've been a long time customer but I'm finding more frustrations than conveniences. Please fix the pic and video upload! App constantly locks up and crashes.
Worst service ever!!!!!

I have been a Custumer for over 10 years no problem. I have a yearly contract with them. This year they took the money out of my account. In June 2018 and turned off my service in July 2019. I have been fighting with them for months I gave them the receipt from my account and the Apple store. The app say active until June 2019 but when I go the the app it say full must pay money. They said they didn’t get a payment so I need to pay again. I have tried to contact them. You can only talk to them though email or twitter they will not call you. They don’t respond or slow to respond. After months of trying to get in touch with them and proving I paid. They still did not turn on my service. I called the BBB on them and they never responded. Something so simple to solve has turn me off from this product and has made me find other services better than this.
Terrible
by Likes cool on 2021/06/20 01:55
I’ve had a Dropbox for years now and I’ve loved it!
Unnecessary changes
by Geza X on 2019/07/31 18:49
Sometimes simpler is better. WHYWHYWHY does everyone try to turn their apps into a social media platform? Why. I’ve tolerated the various updates and additions because Dropbox has done one thing extremely well: transfer files and sync them to my Mac desktop. In that one function Dropbox has an unparalleled lead. But Dropbox PAPER? No, we use google docs for that and always will. Sorry. Comments? Not needed, rarely used. Sharing? YESYESYES that’s what it’s for. Sharing files. Photo sync, sure why not? I don’t use it but good to have. I’ve watched many developers “upgrade” their apps right out of business, making them cumbersome and glitchy in the process. PLEASE STOP you have such a robust platform already! We don’t need the toys, it just makes the app messy and childish. It’s hard enough to keep things synced and shared over a variety of different uses. I’ve been using Dropbox for maybe 10 years and run a whole business with it. Has always worked properly and stood the test of time. Your desire to compete in areas where you aren’t needed is going to downgrade what you are #1 in—transferring and sharing files easily and without confusion.
Great, but lacking
by The Terroriser on 2019/05/15 03:59
Dropbox was good, good for storing all my files, but it had too little space. 2 GB. For all the files I need stored, I had to make 4 TOTAL Dropbox accounts. At a certain point I realized I can’t deal with this anymore. And I look into transferring my files to Google Drive. Giving me 15 GB of storage FOR FREE! I try to export my files to drive, only exports one file. I search all around! Nowhere does it say “export to drive”. I get I could have done it manually, but we’re talking folders and 6-8GB’s worth of documents, data, pictures, and whatever else. No way. I find a chrome extension, connect the account, let it sync my Dropbox to my drive! All of my dropboxes are COMPLETELY useless now! Don’t get me wrong, Dropbox is great. But hey lack in storage and refuse to give you options to transfer elsewhere. They don’t want to let you go.

Edited Video uploads broken

by wilsos33 on 2021/07/12 04:46
I’ve never been able to cancel this subscription after the free trial period. I’ve never actually uploaded anything to the account and still getting charged. The instructions provide information that may be available from a PC but since I’m fully on mobile devices I can’t see if that makes a difference. $12 adds up when you dont use the service or have a need.

Also, Dropbox isn’t finding all my photos to upload and I am having to manually add photos.

by Android McGuinness on 2021/06/29 13:35
I’ve been using this app for years and it’s slowly gotten worse, or at least more counterintuitive. It’s hard to manage space and it’s always pushing me to buy more instead of letting me manage the space I have. I can’t see where my space has gone because it won’t show me file sizes, it tells me that deleting files won’t free up space, and I cannot manage files that have been shared with me. One day I’ll just run out of space and quit using it, I guess.

by Songmeilove on 2021/06/25 06:20
I love this app!

Being able to select several and delete at once would be so much easier then the clumsy way it’s set up, having to select each one individually then pull up a menu to delete… too cumbersome!!!

by prc926 on 2021/06/23 02:44

by Dusk_1989 on 2021/06/22 22:34

Great for Sharing my music files!

Dropping In

Dropbox is amazing! To say the very least. Super easy to navigate, seamlessly effortless. I have not run into any delays, snags. Everything I touch a task, and it pops up, and completes a task perfectly.

And also thank you for taking the time to email me and tell me what I needed to do. I really appreciate you caring enough to let me know. Thank you again😊””

AMAZING- but feature request
by Elliot Chalme on 2021/06/15 15:40
I absolutely love dropbox.
Stop making me rate you and I’ll give you a five star
by Annihilis on 2021/06/15 14:54
Plz stop making me rate you every so often when I open the app! It’s extremely annoying for someone who needs access to his files in a very timely manner.

Doesn’t work
by OneAndOnlyAlex on 2020/12/09 20:07
I have tried hundreds of times to use this application in different capacities, and it does not, to even a slight extent, serve the purpose it’s intended for.
