Used to be good, but not anymore
by Dezuree on 2019/02/17 02:57
Waze used to be amazing. I’ve always thought that google maps is trash, but where google maps went wrong, waze went right. Sadly this has changed, and I’m ready to delete waze. The directions to turn are delivered at the last second, and if you’re in the wrong lane, then you can add an extra five minutes to your trip. Waze also does not show the most effective ways to get places. Every time I navigate from home, it advises me to go in the opposite direction that I need to go in, and then takes me on a roundabout path back to the road that I simply could have turned left on. Point is, waze is now useless to me, and only adds to my frustration while driving in the large city I just moved to. What a disappointment.

This app is by far the best app ever!!!!
App does not know where I am
by mopieper on 2019/02/17 00:59
App keeps telling me I am off major highways and directing me to turn onto service roads and take turn arounds when I am still on the highway!!! This has been happening for months with no fix. Will no longer be using this app.
Good app but breaks the rules on privacy
by Dotcomreviews on 2019/02/16 23:04
Love Waze most of the time but when I’m at home not doing anything I open my phone and guess who is using my location services? Why??? I don’t have the app open. If I have it set to “only while using the app” I mean just that.. I don’t care about what function you may have in the app. Stop tracking me when I don’t need you too. App deleted until this is resolved.
Love this app, and have a suggestion
by jpalmer59 on 2019/02/16 21:54
Love the app and use it daily. I would love to babble to reverse the screen to use in a heads up display.
Good if you like back roads for 5 hrs
by Cary B on 2019/02/16 21:15
Don't know what all the fuss is about. Maybe for cabbies in the city but you can't trust it for a real road trip. Took me on a 5 hour trip from NY to N. VT thru back roads ( to 100) when we could have taken 91 to 89 (didn't know it at time) and no there was manor traffic. Will never use again.
Never travel without WAZE on
by Travel Ohio on 2019/02/16 21:11
I can’t imagine life without WAZE directing me around traffic, helping me find locations in unfamiliar places and alerting me of hazards ahead. Love the app!
Live the app
by GhostRider663 on 2019/02/16 20:54
I love Waze. I find it to be more accurate at estimated time arrivals than any of other mapping apps out there. I do find it a little difficult to see location and length of traffic delays however. Make that more intuitive and its 5 stars for sure.
Great app, Apple Car Play needs tweak
by Noname10239 on 2019/02/16 19:40
I was so glad when Waze started working on Apple Car Play last fall. My only complaint is that there is not a directional on my screen. Am I going north? South? There are times I need to know.

GPS no longer works on iPhone 8
by Ocdlaw on 2019/02/16 16:55
Waze was my go to app for navigation but a month or so ago it GPS quit working. GPS works in all other apps except Waze and Polar Beat. Really a shame. Tried all suggested fixes, but no joy.

by alfons1894267 on 2019/02/16 07:21
Just need to be more accurate when it comes to taking you to the correct destination! Sometimes it gives you the destination in the middle of the expressway?!! Or it takes you 2 buildings further and not in the exact lovation!!!! If that could be fixed then it is a perfect gps!!
Too slow
by Boulder8052 on 2019/02/16 03:53
To slow switching from one app back to the Waze app especially if the vehicle is in motion... Also half the time you put in a address it takes forever for it to find the address in the quickest route if it finds it at all
Eh...
by FrankieMejiaTattoo on 2019/02/16 01:51
It’s really only good to know where there’s cops... 75% of the time it won’t send me to the destination I intended to go to.
No excuses
by spacecadetbucket on 2019/02/15 23:49
Since May of 2018 waze has been aware of the friends function not being there on this version (iOS) of the app. It is now February of 2019 and still no fix. There is no excuse for this.
Love! But I wish...
by ErinElise215 on 2019/02/15 21:02
I love using this app! It helps keep me out of traffic and gives the best route (for the most part). A couple of things that I wish I could change/add though. 1. I’d love to have the option of selecting if a lane has been shut down. 2. Ability to click on hazards, police, accidents, etc and clear them off the map regardless of which way you are traveling. 3. Easier way to inform people that an exit or route is not accessible. 4. Can the app communicate with my contacts and their address info. Otherwise, I really do love this app and use it everyday.
No car pools
by JazzyJanus on 2019/02/15 20:08
I don’t like the car pool app popping up every five seconds, I am a entrepreneur and I do business in my vehicle I cannot carpool other than that I really like the app is easy to use and is very accurate

Used to be useful

Slowly all of Waze differentiators are Gone
by Avg Guy on 2019/02/15 15:36
Route mapping is gone, auto re-route is gone Now, like all other GPS routing tools Waze needs a “No U-Turn” setting. Waze used to auto re-route you to the quickest route after you miss a turn. Now Waze tries to turn you around and to go back to the original route - regardless of the time it takes. After selecting a Destiination route mapping is now gone you can no longer see a map display of how you’re going to travel to your Destination. If you are somewhere new and do not know the route number or Road name that Waze decides to display you have no way to make any decision about the quality of the route or the accuracy
ETA feature fixed/enhanced
by dc4usc on 2019/02/15 13:55
Waze crippled this feature quite a while ago (about a year?) and I love that they recently fixed it. It integrates better with my iPhone and for non-Waze users. Non-Waze users can see your route in a browser. It shows your ETA recipient your drive progress again AND it shows your actual ETA again, not just the current time. Use this feature a lot with my family. There was also a glitch using bluetooth back in January that many people complained about, including myself. They fixed that in just a few days. I haven't encountered the issues people are recently complaining about regarding wrong directions, volume, waking and crashing. I have occasionally encountered issues with server/route establishment type errors, but that usually occurs when my phone data signal is weak. Been using Waze for many years.
Changed in a bad way
by Rosemary825 on 2019/02/15 13:28
I used to love this app but now it freezes. Yesterday it said I was going 115 mph when I was going 20 mph and it started glitching and asking me to go straight where I could only make a right or left. And it keeps taking me to my home address instead of the address I enter. Really upset and disappointed! It also sends you straight into traffic jams instead of around them.

Horrible Customer Service
by Bulwarkz on 2019/02/15 05:52
On Tuesday I got a new iPhone XR and Thursday Waze can’t find my UserID. It seems like ten (10) or more years in being a ‘Wazer’ and Google cant find my UserID so I can get my account back. Crying shame ....😕 Also, after they got bought out by Google I have recognized a noticeable degradation in customer service and application performance.
Insomnia
by Bottles4678 on 2019/02/15 05:33
Waze has developed insomnia. When you tell waze to exit and it goes to sleep mode it will wake itself up after a minute or so. So annoying.
Possible fix?
by Lopey 39512 on 2019/02/15 04:00

Little behind
by itskashifkhan on 2019/02/14 23:05
Waze on apple CarPlay needs a lot of work.. the screen doesn’t even look in HD.. and it doesn’t tell u the name of the road you driving on and of course it’s a little behind.. like a couple seconds.

Best for Traffic, kills your battery
by Dreamsofsnow on 2019/02/14 16:30
I have used Waze for years to deal with traffic. It is far better than either Google Maps or Apple Maps at identifying when there are accidents on my route to my destination. Typically, I will get an update with enough time to change my route to avoid major delays. Unfortunately, it places a huge drain on your battery. Be sure to plug into your charger when using it in your car. Hopefully this feedback will lead to some improvement by the app developer.
The worst

If you want to be late everywhere you go, get this app
Has a serious problem
by ArianAFZ82 on 2019/02/14 15:20
This app is great. Navigating with Waze helps me avoid the traffic and it’s just so good but with a very big problem. It eat’s my battery SO MUCH for example my battery percentage was 50% before Waze but after 30 minutes it was 34%. 16 percent in ONLY 30 minutes!!! Otherwise I would give this app five stars. I’m using an iPhone 7 Plus.
Great, but too cluttered
by PedroAlhambra88 on 2019/02/14 14:00
It can be too cluttered at times. I like google maps clean design and simple displays. Waze is superior due to the networking function and real time information. If it were not for all the pop ups and cartoony graphics I would give it six stars.
Speed Limit Logo
by tnotorious1 on 2019/02/14 13:37
I’ve noticed a change on the Speed Limit Logo on CarPlay. Google Maps was ugly but I loved Waze until this morning. It was was an eyesore and it felt prune-ish.
Working perfectly now
by TreyElise on 2019/02/14 13:24
Waze is working perfectly again. I’ll be using it again to drive down to FL this weekend so I’m hoping the update after my previous issue is taken care of. I’d like more vehicle choices. I loved the Maserati available during the launch of Forza. One thing I’d appreciate is to see the speed limit without using the speedometer. If the speedometer is off the speed limit isn’t posted. In Apple Car Play the speed limit shows without the speedometer. That would be great on the app imo. 🤷🏽‍♀️
Stop auto zooming
by stir 1111 on 2019/02/14 12:38
Update. Auto zoom fixed. Now if they can stop ads from blocking incidents and hazards on the roads.
They continually downgrade this app...
by Chuck-IV on 2019/02/14 12:28
So they FINALLY listened to their user base for once and reinstated a way to turn OFF automatic zooming. This was a safety issue so it's good to see they haven't stooped to prioritizing money over safety. Now if they would just fix the map shifted to the right in landscape mode, when NOT navigating anywhere, I would be happy. On Android, if you weren't navigating or playing music, the vehicle icon was CENTERED and would only shift right if it needed room to display a dialog box. On IOS it seems they got lazy and just shift it to the right ALL THE TIME which wipes out the right side of the map when looking for things. They need to change it to be like Android.
Update:Used to love this app. Deleted it.
by Greenie mama 65 on 2019/02/14 04:29
Review Update: I saw new update and reviews in app store and decided I’d reinstall the app to see if it improved. IT STILL TAKE YOU TO THE WRONG DESTINATION!! What the heck are the developers thinking?? They have ruined this previously wonderful app. Last months review: I don’t know what happened to this ex-wonderful app but I’m so angry I’m deleting it. It recently was unable to get me to my correct destination. I actually missed a house concert yesterday because I could not find the location. I followed the directions and it said I had arrived at my destination when the address in front of me in a residential neighborhood was clearly NOT what was programmed into my phone. I reset several phone setting and tried again. I reentered the address and it sent me to an empty office complex parking lot. Turning location, Bluetooth, cellular and WiFi on and off had not solved the problem. I rendered address after uninstalling and reinstalling the compass. I ended up at the first incorrect it sent me to. After wandering around for almost two hours, I got back to the interstate and went home without the use of Waze. I never got to my house concert where I was supposed to be contributing a dish for everyone’s dinner. I was unhappy when all the ads started popping up but tolerated them. Now I have no reason to ever use this app again.
Excessive Background Battery Drain
by Ackatack on 2019/02/14 04:27
The app seems to hang after being used in CarPlay. In this state, the app uses copious amounts of battery power. It has drained my fully charged battery in a little over an hour before due to the hanged state. This is pushing me to use other navigation apps.
Horrible customer service

Commercial vehicles
by T0Bst3er on 2019/02/14 02:58
This app should have a commercial vehicle selection for truckers. This would be a great app for professional drivers if you could switch it to show legal/illegal roads for tractor trailers. Show fuel stops and rest areas. That would make this app perfect and a reason I would use everything else it can do.
Long time Wazer
by Bobbie Bee on 2019/02/14 01:12
Two questions ...is there any way to have more of the Waze capabilities transfer to Apple CarPlay? Also, and more importantly, why when you leave the app to reply to a phone call, message, or change music...waze asks if you want to resume drive? I get no notification of upcoming turns etc. Very frustrating
Too loud
by Kitten Kilgore on 2019/02/14 00:55
I like the app well enough, except the voice is way too loud. It is even startling. And there is no way to turn it down. Some afraid I’m going to discontinue using it at all.
A M A Z I N G - M U S T - H A V E -
by Handzi on 2019/02/14 00:03
I have never done a review on... well anything. I have used this app for about 5+ years and it has literally changed the way I drive. I had no idea how much this app could help me visualize my speed or make me aware of it let alone tell me the speed limit in the particular area I was driving in. -Waze saved me from rolling over DEBRIS in the road. - tell me where EVERY COP IS ALONG MY DRIVE. - roads closed - tells me where to get the cheapest gas locally and on road trips - I can talk to fellow Wazers that are an hour ahead of me to see what the driving conditions are!!!!! - and so much more!!!! Get it
One of the best navigation apps out there
by EthanYL on 2019/02/13 23:08
Waze is one of the best navigation apps. Save time and money( toll roads). I just wonder that the Waze can have satellite maps instead of always using 2D.

by pizzayay on 2019/02/13 22:48

Take the long way
by jgcrtikngt on 2019/02/13 20:26
I live not one mile from a main 4 lane road and waze leads me away from that road and down back roads in a giant 5 mile circle back to that main road. When I look at the route options, none of them allows me to cut out that 5 mile circle. Very disappointing.
Need more than 2 route options
by FL mom 2013 on 2019/02/13 19:58
Overall, it's a great app. I wish that it offered more than 2 route options (I used to get at least 3 before the last update) and the functionality like the map apps to drag the route from one road to another. I would like to review 4-5 routes and then determine which combination will work best. Not happy with the recent update at all.

Waze app
by Jennb8800 on 2019/02/13 17:43
I absolutely love this app. It has changed my mind about using my phone instead of a gps. If you have apple CarPlay or Android auto that is ideal. Showing me on the screen and talking to me about the route, traffic, hazards, and police. I also like the plan a drive option so it notifies me when I need to leave.
Not accurate
by pippinhot on 2019/02/13 16:45
Always at the end the commute ends up to be 30mib to an hour more due to traffic buildup. But if that happens every day maybe waze could include that info?

Top choice
by Red Fox MD on 2019/02/13 15:24
I use this app even when I know where I’m going, it alerts me to all sorts of shenanigans going on in between myself and work. This app is consistently helpful also as police move traffic cameras around in my county, very sneaky. Identifies those camera locations more effectively and quickly than any other map program I have and I have three on my iPhone.

It’s a very good apps enjoying it very much tell us what’s on road and hazards objet on road
I love it, but...........
by Chad.75 on 2019/02/13 14:17
Waze is great however I think improvements could be made. My opinion is that entrances/exits to parking lots or non-major roadways should not be used as end points when sending a traffic alert. I should be able to send a report that includes my current position up to the next major intersection. Often times I find myself sending reports and it only documents a short section of road. Waze may not reroute other Waze users if it determines the 50ft marked is not long enough to be a major traffic issue. Just my opinion. I think my account was blocked today for making too many reports when trying to help fellow Waze drivers avoid a section of road this morning. Fix it, don’t fix it, I’ll still use the app but may not report as many problems due to this issue.
I love Waze, but...
by rowlen92 on 2019/02/13 14:08
I really like using Waze, it’s a lot more interesting than Google maps and seems to be just as accurate. I also really like that it shows police, hazards, etc. However, I don’t like that I can’t sync it with Apple Music. I don’t use Spotify, and Apple Music isn’t an option for the audio player. With so many people using that platform, that really needs to be an option. Also, I can’t hear the voice commands unless I’m playing music. Even if I just pause my music and leave it pulled up, the voice commands are really quiet, even with the volume all the way up. If I don’t have music playing at all, the voice commands don’t even work at all. If I’m playing music, it lowers the music volume and I can hear the voice commands just fine. Most of the time this isn’t really an issue, but there are times where I don’t want to listen to music in the car, especially when I’m driving in a city I don’t know and need to concentrate. So now I turn my music off to concentrate, but can’t hear the voice commands for turns. Please fix!
Only gotten worse
by Norq79 on 2019/02/13 13:41
I have been using Waze for 7 years and I honestly can say it has been useful. In the last couple of weeks I have only been able to get one route to work each morning and if I refresh it will still only show one route but won’t even have an explanation of what roads it takes. If I wanted one choice I’d use a portable gps.

Glitches on 12 FEB 19 in South Korea
by !^NOVember2002 on 2019/02/13 09:29
If you don’t read Korean, then this is the best gps app for driving in South Korea. I loved Waze for driving in South Korea until yesterday. The positive: Nice to have locations in English and receive English cues. Other English based gps apps don’t work nearly as well. The traffic routing based on traffic density on the highway is very good. The Negatives: Significantly doesn’t accurately predict red light traffic. The following is a one off day that I am still frustrated by. I experienced glitches one day when it said to turn even though the correct highlighted route went straight. I got it right 2 of 3 times by passenger assist double checking before turning. Glitches in gps in Korea are costly in time due to traffic density preventing course correction and lane switching without driving ultra aggressively. In addition, the English cues appeared to be more abbreviated and I missed a turn as I didn’t have time on the freeway to figure out which turn/ HWY 17 was mine.
Auto zoom forced
by K@&$kwoldfndnf on 2019/02/13 08:40
New auto zoom is incredibly not useful. No one needs to see only 2 ft of road in front of them on a cloverleaf highway exit/entrance ramp. The option to remove auto zoom seems to have been removed. If Waze is going to force this feature, please at least not have it zoom in so close.
App Crashed
by Major Ursa on 2019/02/13 07:51
Latest bug. App shut off right startup. Turned it back on. I thought it went to learn mode and automatically find directions to work. Instead, it provided directions back to my house. Waze is just can’t learn. I don’t know what happened but my iphone rebooted while Waze was running. Phone gets hot. Not only does this uses a lot of power but it reduces how much you can charge because the battery charging software reduces current to keep my battery from getting too hot. Works badly with carplay. waze goes into weird mode and stops giving directions.
AUTOZOOM CAN BE TURNED OFF NOW - thanks!!

by Exhibit_A on 2019/02/12 22:00
While connected to car play and using waze, has any noticed continuous never ending loading while trying to choose a destination? The only fix I found is to unplug my phone from car play and load your destination and then plug it back in to car play.. this gets pretty annoying especially when you are trying to use waze for food delivery or ride share.. I see a lot of low ratings for waze lately that I’m starting to think it’s google that destroyed it and making it worse with every update..

Always running in the background
by ansjsjdjdjdjdnnd on 2019/02/12 18:31
Absolutely horrible and annoying! Waze permanently runs in the background with no setting or way to turn it off that I can see other than to manually force close every single time.
ETA Sharing Inop / Directions not updating
by ryansteel87 on 2019/02/12 18:26
ETA Sharing quit working. It used to update with your location on the route, and would keep an accurate ETA sent to whoever you wanted to share it with. It's also had some weird issues with keeping you on the fastest route. On a previous drive, it was giving me strange suggestions. I ended up saving 7 minutes by ignoring it. 7 freaking minutes and it wouldn't change or suggest a new route. And after I skipped the turn it wanted me to make, it then rerouted and realized how much time it could have saved on the new route.

Can you make a button that allows the map the to always face north when I haven’t start the navigation, and during the navigation, the car arrow always faces above?
Had an accident using this app. Not safe.
by Soundingon on 2019/02/12 15:55
My girlfriend had an accident using this app today. Granted, she’s a new driver, but she was driving her brand new car using Waze and it was very slow telling her what turns to make. While she was driving down a street, Waze told her when she was almost about to pass a street to turn all of a sudden. Being the unexperienced driver she is, she turned too fast and hit a sign. She got significant damage to her car. Again I can’t totally blame Waze, but I just used Waze and realized it’s doing the same thing to me. Telling me to make turns at the last second.. Now of course I opt to miss the turns, being a more experienced driver, but come on Waze... give us a break. I just missed two turns because it told me to make them at the last second. There has to be a way to keep the app from telling the driver to make a turn at the last second that could cause him/her to have an accident. That’s way too dangerous. This app needs a lot of work lately besides that. It just seems very buggy and often quits the route if I change apps. Ads are also showing up the wrong time, blocking me from seeing what my next move will be. I’m disappointed in what’s happened to this app. It needs a big revamp.

Map markers
by piggystooer on 2019/02/12 14:20
I live the different map markers you can use. I have avoided several pot holes and other obstacles in the road due to the Harvard ahead marker. The cop marker is very helpful also even though I don’t speed all that much. I like to drop it to help other drivers. This is probably the most helpful marker of them all. Easy to find routs around accidents. Great for finding food and hotels near by. I can’t say enough good thing. About this app. Go piggy marker go.
No way to report road closures

It's changed...not in a good way
by Genuinetricia on 2018/01/24 18:50
The app only notifies me of a change in route at the last second, which is unsafe when youre driving at highway speed. The app often doesnt return music to its previous volume so I have to stop the app & restart the route again. A route I always took getting to a relative's house that Waze used to remember (it wasn't the fastest route but it avoided some highways & Waze never chose that route until I had traveled that way a few times) is now forgotten with the last update. The "send the ETA" feature now only works if the person to whom youre sending it is also a Waze member, even if it says it sent it. And there's no progress map anymore, which was a really helpful feature I guess Waze discontinued. Bring that one back--it was really helpful. I sent a map change suggestion b/c the names of 2 cul-de-sacs in my condo development were dropped and the cul-de-sacs are named the same name as the main road through the development. I got a note, about 6 months later, saying it would be changed and it was--the cul-de-sacs are now erased from the map and the mapmaker decided to make the main road through the development 1 way, with a cul-de-sac at the end. So, now, the first 1/2 mile of every trip is all the way to the no outlet cul-de-sac at the other end of the development, which is in the opposite direction of the development exit.
Not the same Waze it Once was
by Mom Matters on 2018/09/23 13:29
Even a month or so ago, I would have rated this app 5 stars, but something has happened to what was my best driving app companion. The issues begin with incorrect mileage estimates when you type in a place your are going that, as soon as you click on the place to get directions, change and sometimes in drastic ways and always for the worse. Examples - a place that it said was 136 miles away changed when getting directions to over 200 miles away...a place that it said was 9 miles away, when you click on it to press go turns into 14 miles away. It also is suggesting routes with lots of turns that are leading me in circles and when I choose to ignore their suggestion because I can see ahead there does not seem to be traffic, I go the normal straight way I always do and get there 5 minutes sooner than the estimated time from Waze’s indirect way. The app has become so broken it is upsetting because it used to be amazing! It also isn’t remembering routes and crashing, which is what prompted me to finally write this review because that ended up costing me about an extra hour of time yesterday since I was trying to avoid the turnpike (and it’s tolls) and unbeknownst to me, it re-routed me to take it! It’s also caused my daughter to end up on a toll road with no warning! Waze and I are going to have to part ways if they don’t fix the newly introduced issues soon - it’s just become completely unreliable:
Die-hard Wazer!!!
by Andrepimarlucatom on 2017/10/21 15:22
Update: Waze updates have been good and the reporting process is improved and there are less steps to get to the actual reporting - yay! When you fix the default address estimation from interstate (literally I get suggestions for MI addresses, and I live in Alexandria VA!). Previous: I've recommended this app to dozens of friends and helped many download it to their smartphones and set it up for them. I can't say however that I'm very happy about the latest version of Waze. The GUI is not what it should be, the # of improvements is about equivalent to the # of detriments. It's hard to cancel an instruction once entered, the screen going from side to side is not user friendly. And reporting hazards is STILL a 2-3 step process!!!! There should be the option for active wazers to have a "visible police" button, "car on shoulder" button "construction" button and/or various traffic buttons of our choosing on the map page that we can report as we go. Also, PLEASE STOP SEARCHING THE ENTIRE MAP OF THE USA WHEN I'M OBVIOUSLY SEARCHING FOR AN ADDRESS IN MY LOCAL VICINITY. That was an obvious upgrade improvement you guys should have included. I would give you 5 stars or 10 or 20 because I love your app - but these improvements really need to happen ASAP. Keep up he awesomeness Waze!! Plus your Customer svc and responsiveness is great too!
Most useful but some issues
by Smiledaydream on 2018/06/03 09:20
It is the most useful of the navigation apps because it uses the most sources for information and does a great job helping me navigate. Directions are given in a way to help locate the turn or offramp. Other apps often change suddenly into step-by-step directions or some form that I do not want to see. Waze stays consistent in the format of the split. Waze has a number of notifications about things in the road. These are good but also have weaknesses. It is hard to report that something was not accurate. At the point it is supposed to be there the option to indicate it was incorrect goes away. This option should remain for 2 to 400 feet after the symbol location. Most hazard reports are inaccurate. Most police reports are incorrect. This is frustrating because it such a good idea but the tool doesn’t really allow for good reporting. Stopped vehicle reports do not indicate in lane or side of road so they are usually pointless viewings of vehicles stopped somewhere having no affect on traffic. There is a great feature to go later on the time this feature cannot be used for some reason I will choose directions to the airport. Half the time I can choose go later and half the time for the same trip I cannot. I know the data is there. But for some reason the feature just vanishes. Make it easier to report.
Don’t Leave Home Without It
by Als2130 on 2018/12/07 12:33
This app has saved me so many times. I absolutely love it. I use it constantly, mainly because it alerts me to traffic and cops, but also because it has shown me shorter ways to places I go to all the time (and thought I knew the best route there). I only have two complaints. The map change suggestion feature is totally useless. There’s a road near me that’s a private lane and ends at one curve of an s-curve. Waze always tells me to use this road for 100 feet, then get back on the main road. No, the private lane ENDS at the main road! I’ve tried changing this a dozen times, and it never gets changed (once it was actually, but a week later it was back). I’ve learned to ignore it, but I feel sorry for tourists because they get confused (I can tell they’re using Waze when I’m behind them because they’ll slow down and sometimes stop, which is really annoying). My other complaint is that I can’t tell it to remember certain routes. From my house, there are two ways to the county road. They’re both the same distance and about the same driving time. The difference is that the one Waze always tells me to use is single lane partway, very narrow the rest of the way, and has a lot of hidden entrances and blind hills and curves. I’d much rather take the safer way. If Waze finds a way to fix these two things, I’d give it 5 stars
Good at knowing where traffic is AWFUL at getting around it
by LordLombardi on 2018/03/14 23:53
You wanna know where traffic is jammed? This app is wonderful for that. Want a route around? Avoid Waze. This app is useful for for ETA’s if you sync with your calendar, and to show you where traffic jams are. However, expect it to always take you through traffic jams. The most use I’ve gotten out of this app this app during traffic hours (aka the time you would most want to use this app) is zooming out to see the full map and then seeing myself how to get around the jam. Without fail, if I’m trying to get home from work, Waze will want me to take a Street that I know for a fact will be jammed. I decided to follow the directions twice thinking maybe Waze was smart than I am and knew something I didn’t. Both times I was backed up a solid mile before where Waze thought the real jam started it. And I’m talking I was in bumper to bumper traffic waiting for the light to turn 3 times before I got past a single block. Despite this, Waze insists this is the fastest route — it’s not. Waze also becomes unresponsive to traffic reports during peak hours it seems. You could report bumper to bumper traffic in a downtown street and Waze will only mark the small section where you are even if the jam stretches 10 minutes in front of you. You would think it would gather that you’re in a bad jam and find a different route, but it doesn’t. Your best bet is to zoom out the map, and try to find a better way yourself.
Better than the old CB days.
by Depdoc on 2018/12/27 15:26
Waze is a user based traffic information app. It does rely upon users to report traffic conditions, construction, accidents and police. As a user passes by a reported problem, he can say Thank You, indicating the condition exists, or No longer There, indicating it has been cleared. There are two things I’d like to see changed: 1) allow the time to respond to the condition to last longer. Sometimes, the actual condition is at a slightly different place due to the time lag between where the incident is and when it was actually reported. and 2) when reporting police, it would be nice to know if the police is moving or stationary. If moving, the radius for notification should be extended and the time to clearing shortened, as a moving car will not remain in its position very long. If stationary, then notification can remain as it currently is. If police is moving, it would also be nice to know which direction and then adjust notifications accordingly. Note these are suggestions and not complaints. This is a great app and a must have for any driver. It also has a pretty good navigation system. But if you select another route than it gives you, it is slow to recalculate and sometimes requires stopping the navigation and then restarting it to get the alternate route.
Incredible resource
by Noa and Grandma on 2018/07/20 15:29
I am delighted by the services provided by the Waze app. On the first day I used it, it took me by previously unknown routes to a bakery to pick up a birthday treat for my dear daughter with 5 minutes to spare through rush hour traffic. The second time we used it we were at a huge airshow just outside of Portland OR and Waze saved the day by taking us back to Vancouver, WA on a very quiet and beautiful twisting country road through rolling farm land that ended up bringing us into Portland by way of the St. John's bridge. We were astonished to find that it took the same amount of time it would have taken us to go on the highway on a low traffic day. We were sold on it through these first initial encounters. BUT, my third use of it made me recognize how incredibly valuable and up to date it is it is when my destination was 2 blocks away from a bank robbery in progress and it diverted me from my normal route down narrow side streets where multitudes of cars were coming in the opposite direction but I seemed to be the only car going against the flow of traffic. Waze kept me safe and away from gunfire that was occurring just a block away from my final destination as bank robbers tried to make a getaway. Thanks Waze and thanks to all you Wazers that keep this app up to date so consistently. You rock!!!
Useful but NOT safe
by EDazey on 2018/02/24 19:57
I like Waze for navigation; it has some good aspects over other map apps-I like that based on the day and time that I open the app it predicts where I might be going, I like that it chooses the shortest route and is always right regarding my ETA, I like that I can send my ETA to any of my contacts so they know when to expect me, and I like that if I try to access the search function while in motion it says this is unsafe and asks if I am the passenger. I DON’T like that all other uses of the app while in motion are extremely unsafe. To document police, accident, stalled car, road closure, etc I have to take my eyes off the road to navigate through all the prompts which is exactly like texting and driving, I DON’T like that there are ads that pop up anytime I am going less than 5mph-my husband has them pop at highway speeds! We need a paid version of the app!! Also, the see other people on the road function does not work well. There are many times I see other icons when there isn’t even another car around or my husband is using the app in his car ahead of me but I don’t see his icon. Also, beeps are not useful. Not only is it unsafe to get in and access the beep function, it serves no purpose. Once you accept them there is no history and no way to tell who beeped you. Like I said, I like the app for overall navigation and real-time ETA, but otherwise it needs some serious updates.
Doesn’t work well with iOS 12
by serickjr on 2018/10/05 02:21
Update Oct 3, 2018- We’ve been using Waze for many years and have always loved it... until iOS 12. There has been so many issues with it freezing, crashing and interfering with the built in Bluetooth in our car. It will completely cut off the Bluetooth in the car making it completely useless. We deleted the app for a while because it just didn’t work at all and redone loaded it after some updates were released after iOS 12 was out for a while and that’s when the Bluetooth issues started, needless to say we deleted it again. I’m very disappointed, we used for every drive we took, even up to the grocery store 2 miles away. As you can see below from our first review we absolutely loved it... But sadly, not so much anymore. I really hope that you’re reading these reviews and doing something to fix these issues so we can start using it again! Since Google owns Waze I Would love to see some of Google Maps functions integrated into Waze. Other than that I have no complaints except the occasional outage, but we've been using it since it came out a few years ago and have loved it from the beginning!! Keep up the good work and get some of those google map features carried over to Waze!!
Used to be so good
by Debest74 on 2019/02/07 02:01
This app used to be so good but for the past few months is just not working. At this point i open it for police reports and use google maps for directions. I go fairly frequent to Las Vegas from California. Lately the directions won’t load and when I do get it to work it routs me completely out of the way!!!! Google maps tells me it’s going to take me about 4 hours with traffic and Waze is literally making me turn around/make a U on the 15 when driving from Vegas to take a completely obscure way adding 3 hours to the rout. The last straw was a few weeks ago driving from California to Las Vegas. At first it wouldn’t load so I went to the Waze support area and it advised to break down the trip in chunks so I decided to have it navigate me to the outlets in Barstow since I pass them EVERY SINGLE TIME. Somehow it took me trough a back way and trough a town name Crestline, up some mountains in the middle of no where and by the. It was pass 12am!!!! A 4 hour drive turn into an 11 hour drive!!!!!!! If anything happened I would have been royally effed in the middle of nowhere. This weekend I went back to California and decided to try again thinking it was maybe a problem that day. Once again it kept routing me trough some weird areas turning a 4 hour trip into 7. I had my girlfriend open her Waze to compare and Hers was working perfectly fine and using a complete different rout than mine was and about the same one as google maps.
Better than most
by stanwgg on 2018/11/27 14:56
I’ve just begun to use the app. I like the fact that it alerts you when the police are near. It also notifies you if a car is on the shoulder of the road stopped. It has a background music feature which would be nicer if it included Apple Music or Pandora. The app warns about road work, traffic jams, it is nice. It is slow to sync with Bluetooth. I can sync my phone with my truck, yet the app does not speak through the Bluetooth connection. It is difficult to communicate while I’m giving and address for directions the first time. It is hard to hear because it will not use the iPhone speaker in the beginning either. I have to hold it up to my ear while giving the first address. Shortly after the first route begins it will use the Bluetooth connection. The graphics are much better than the iOS app and also Google Maps. The screen view is also better than other apps. Seems more intuitive than either of those GPS apps also. The app is slow to turn off the location services on my iPhone after I reached the destination. This concerns me that it might run down the iPhone battery prematurely. It does have a nice parking feature to locate your car later. Fix a couple of small things and it gets 5 stars from me. This is my new GPS app.
Florence Evacuation
by Peach11111 on 2018/09/19 16:12
WAZE IS AMAZING. Thank you sooo much whoever created this APP. I am home safe because of this APP. I can not praise you enough. Hi everyone. Right now I am so thankful to be home. We evacuated to Concord and was there from Wednesday the 12th to Tuesday the 18th. We knew our home was alright but you know you need to see it for yourself. We left Concord at 10:30 yesterday morning along with our two puppies. We used our GPS on hour cars for a good ways. We ended up in SC at South of the border. This was also with the help of a police officer and a local resident. But with all of this and trying to get past the water flooding was daunting. My sisters we watching out for the whole way. One of them told use to try the app “WAZE”. I downloaded it to my iPad. I am here to tell you we would not be home today if it wasn’t for this app. It would even tell us about a vehicle parked on the side of the road a half a mile away in the dark. It is amazing. She only made two mistakes but that was because road block had just happened. I highly recommend this app. Everyone stay safe and God bless all the lineman, police, EMS, firefighters and anyone else I have not mentioned that are working so hard to keep us safe and getting our lives back to normal.
Great app but has definite shortcomings.
by Duncapa on 2018/05/30 13:26
Waze is my #1 choice for GPS. Live traffic updates, being able to edit traffic conditions on the fly to give a more accurate commute, and sharing routes and eta’s are great features. I do hope they integrate voice commands with Siri so we can say things like “Hey Waze, drop a stopped vehicle pin.” While we are driving so interaction becomes handsfree and safer. I gave 3 stars because there have been repeated issues with the app and service saying “No GPS available.” I have tried rebooting, deleting & reinstalling, and clearing the app cache on my phone as well as making sure iOS and the app are updated constantly. But the occurrence does not appear to be linked to hardware failure unless it is something inherent to the 8s. Google and Apple maps do not have any issues when this occurs so I’m at a loss as to what causes the issues with Waze. This occurs for about a 8-12 hours once a day, once or twice a month. Not the end of the world but heavily inconvenient when you regularly use the service for your GPS navigation (and it’s a great service) and you are on the road daily for 4-6 hours at a time it is a problem. If they could fix this problem and integrate voice commands for pin drops, this would be a hands down 5 Star app. Hopefully I’ll get some feedback and can continue to use the service.
Hate to delete this navigation app
by zerodivin3 on 2018/02/22 10:14
But for a long time now, probably almost 2 years (I know, I’m faithful). I’ve realized this thing eats up SO much data. I run out of 2 gigs in less than a week on long drives. I love everything about it (especially hazardous objects on road and police), but it’s missing an important feature I’ve secretly been waiting for that google maps has and that’s the whole standby screen to save battery and phone from heating up. Many times Waze redirects me from traffic which was cool, but then I realized after a couple times, I actually lost time AND gas because of it due to stops and whatnot instead of just sitting in traffic. Not that it hasn’t helped at other times, but I’ve learned that most of the time the traffic it predicts has long dissipated (so much for “live”. Overall, it’s just been getting worse and I’ve thought to delete this app a long time ago if it weren’t for the social part, but then I realized all my friends haven’t touched it in forever and I only use it to share with my wife who doesn’t even realize I send her ETAs anyways till I’m already there and she calls me to ask me if I’ve arrived lol. It’s been Waze, but ultimately, my data is more important to me than the 80% ghost police notifications and my safe speed limit travels.
Vacation Travel SOS

Due to a Cat 5 Hurricane Irma and Cat 4 Jose which caused destruction and total havoc in the Caribbean our well-planned trip to Grenada (a year in the making) was cancelled after 3 hrs. of wishful thinking and 2 wks. of monitoring NOAA and the weather channel several times a day. With our flight cancelled and at JFK hrs from home we decided to just turn in our tickets for an impromptu trip to San Francisco which was on our bucket list. We flew in without any preparation more than finding a last minute deal on a downtown hotel for 2 nites. We rented a car once we spent a couple of days in San Francisco. If not for my WAZ app we would not have been able to do half of what we did! It got us to our 2nd location a rental outside of San Francisco and on time! It took us to Big Sur via Rte 1, all around Napa Valley, and adventures that took us to views of the Golden Gate Bridge that only locals get to see. With the app we were able to find our way to impromptu routes that took us 2500 ft to an observation tower that blew our minds. The app regularly saved us from excruciating California traffic jams by re-routing us and is amazingly good at time estimations. We are most appreciative for this app. Thank you for helping us explore gorgeous Northern California.
Awesome, but latest rev draining battery!
by Harumph99 on 2018/12/24 16:15
Love this app and use it all the time. Routing seems to favor getting to bigger roads rather than using local roads for short trips, but otherwise works decently to get around traffic. One thing to watch for is I think it treats a right turn the same as a left in traffic, when often a left is nearly impossible to cross 2+ lanes of traffic rather than just entering 1 lane. Rel 4.46.1 is having a crash issue — after 30-90 mins it’s crashing. Also seems like it’s failing to add some previous drives to the history. Had one drive that was done and I’d arrived but when i went to history to go there again, I had to re-enter the address because it was not in history. Also, it's damned annoying that I registered with my cell# years ago but replaced my phone a while back and had to rebuild the keychain and I didnt remember my password. Unlike 8million other apps that have a forgot password function, WAZE says it's impossible to recover my password without having already registered with my email. A) that's stupid! B) tell me that when I registered years ago not when it's too late! I lost wazer royalty status and havent even bothered to re-register out of bitterness! Serioisly, guys, you have my phone#! Text me with a password reset link! It's not like there are bank accounts at stake here!!!
Battery drain, several issues
by EmilyJumpsHorses on 2018/07/06 13:17
The battery drain when I use Waze is unreal. I was at 43%, opened Waze & drove for about 12 minutes, decided to add a stop. I looked at my screen and the low battery 20% alert was up!! All of my background apps were closed, and there was no reason for my battery to plummet that quickly. Sometimes my app won’t show my icon but shows the “shadow” of where it’s supposed to be. Another issue is that it doesn’t show all routes. I know a certain route isn’t normally the fastest, but I also know my city’s traffic patterns and it won’t show it. Also, I’m in the top 1%, but how do I know when I’m getting close to losing that prestige? How do I see if the population is catching up to me? Finally, the fact that it doesn’t tell you whether your destination is on the left or right is so irritating and basic that I’m shocked it’s not a feature. I wish there was a feature where you could customize which “hazards” to voice prompt. For example, I couldn’t care less about a car on the shoulder ahead, and it’s annoying to have my music interrupted by that stupid hazard alert. But I would want to know if there’s a pothole ahead, an object in the road, or a police reported ahead. Create a way to narrow down the voice prompts! Why do the other Waze avatar icons around me never move? Speaking of Waze “people” icons, please come out with more options!
Stunned!!!

Huge shoutout 2 Waze & ALL Waze users in Richmond VA (and all tri-cities) 4 how live this app truly is. TBH I had my doubts! But you have definitely made me a believer of the amazing accuracy! Each time I’ve used waze & there’s an alert of police, debris on road, & car on shoulder etc...it was at a💯! So I 👏🏼 U & All the Waze users! I ❤️@waze & will recommend 2 everyone! I will most definitely consider giving waze 5/5 stars ⭐️ if you guys would take all the users suggestions that I’ve come across & actually make it happen in a more timely manner. I also have a suggestion myself. CAN YOU PLEASE ADD more options on vehicles to choose from (or be able to change the color of the vehicle by being able to hold the vehicle down and choose a different color) on the navigation map? Also, make the vehicles you have available actually look like the description of that vehicle? For example: The SUV looks like a dump truck, the bus...well there should possibly be two types of buses (make them both longer & make one yellow), and as I’d stated before have different color & size options for the cars, & make one for an actual SUV with different colors. I really hope you’ll make these changes. Once you do, I’ll be more than happy to give you a 5/5.
Not very good anymore.

Every time I set a long destination (over 100 miles) it gives me the stupid... uh oh something went wrong message when attempting to set the route. It literally leaves you with no choice than to use another GPS app if you need the info, like right now, as is usually the case if you need it to actually tell you how to get somewhere. You seriously need to fix this ASAP! I’m considering deleting this app now as it has become very unreliable to me at this point. It works ok with showing road info, but I need to know how to get there when I really use this app seriously. Also, it would be nice if it told you about alternative routes that would be faster if you encounter traffic. It also doesn’t show surrounding road traffic until you get on a road and find out it was equally terrible with traffic. The surrounding traffic it does show is usually not consistent with the surrounding roads one might travel. It would be nice to know before I take an alternate route if it also has terrible traffic. This app used to be a lot better. Now it’s pretty close to being bloat-ware. I want to love this app again, but right now all I ever do with it is curse at it for being so terrible in its current state. I’ll change my review if they can fix it. Please fix this app. I used to love it, now I just can’t recommend it to anyone.
WAZE is my road buddy.
by GypsyDArtist on 2018/08/31 16:27
I really like the WAZE app. I use it all the time. It is great for turn by turn audio directions that keeps me hands free. The learning curve is fairly easy and the app features and interface have been consistent which is great because having to learn new and improved stuff while actually driving isn’t the best. I frequently drive up and down the whole west coast and WAZE is a lifesaver for re-routing around traffic jams and knowing what the speed limit is in an area as they seem to change a lot. ** The reporting system could be streamlined a little to make it easier to report the most common incidents on the home screen and the detailed hazard reports do not allow for some common issues: people on side of road, weather issues that impact safety/visibility like severe rain/lightning/ road ice and to easily report changes in speed limit signs. It would also be nice to be able to mark a hazard location when “out of signal” that would pop up when reconnected. **We really enjoy the occasional “guest” reporting voices ( Star Wars, Cars, Coke Santa) it would be fun to do the same and have some seasonal options with the Wazer profile avatars too! Overall WAZE is my road buddy and is my go to app. for driving directions.
Daily Crashing App!!!
by FlaGirl13 on 2017/12/16 06:04
Funny enough, A cop friend of mine told me about WAZE! And normally, I LOVE your App, & have Used it DAILY for a couple of years or more, MAINLY to find the SHORTEST ROUTE TO WORK, & Later HOME, & of course to check Road Conditions. I’ve told many of my friends, & patients too, what a great, informative App, Waze is!! There were a few bugs w/the previous update; where the screen flips back to friends, or to types of hazards etc., as you’re driving down the road Trying to follow your GPS Map. But the Most RECENT UPDATE IS GARBAGE!!! Maybe it has TOO MUCH on it? When I open Waze, & try to pick my destination, it flashes a mssg that says “UH OH! YOU ATE NOT CONNECTED. CAN’T CALCULATE ROUTE! W/a green button to click that says OK..., then it crashes (goes black), or it immediately crashes as soon as you try to open the App, & then it just closes the App. UPDATE: We, (hubby & I), along w/many others), have NOT BEEN ABLE to USE WAZE for ONE WEEK Now, b/c it keeps crashing!!!!😳😤 I’ve had to resort back to Google Maps. PLEASE FIX! No-one has contacted me. Many of the suggestions are great, but I espec like the ones about enlarging the speedometer, & one touch reports! (For safer roads)! Once you’re used to Waze, (when it’s working), it’s hard to do w/out. I have REBOOTED my iPhone several times. I’ve now become dependent on your App, w/all of the traveling we do! PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks for all you do! 😃. Respectfully, FlaGirl13
Getting on the right track!!
by Blessedfe on 2017/11/30 12:30
This app has potential to be amazing!! Thanks for listening and making the change for location to be when in use! I have seen a few mistakes in destinations, such as being on the wrong side or one or two streets up but not sure how to fix those. Is there a tutorial? Also have moments when the voice commands are late or don’t work until you are going the wrong way. I can deal with all that! What is most frustrating is the fact when I prepare to drive and put in a destination 12 hours away, my daughter’s college, it thinks then says router failed and so I have to put in a city halfway there and then my original destination. Tried troubleshooting once but was asked for coordinates that I didn’t have. I would also like the option of choosing a route. The alternate routes feature doesn’t always work unless I drive that direction first. I should be able to from my city unless it’s way off, pick whether I want to travel I-29 or I-70 to some place... But fret not with all my concerns! I regularly recommend this app!! I just give them the waze (see what I did there) that I know to get around the hiccups of it! Thanks!! 🚗
Sad

This used to my best way of avoiding traffic as I commute in the busy Boston area. Worked great until a little while ago when it stopped working. Now it sends me weird ways that are NOT avoiding traffic but instead turning me in to it. Ironically (or not) it seems to be pushing me lately near shops and businesses that I visit online which makes me believe that it is pointing me towards Google's sponsors and are tracking the sites I visit rather than helping me avoid traffic which was the original intended purpose. This is further cemented in my mind as the app is also showing ads for places I frequent. I'm not even one of those paranoid people who think that everyone is watching their every move. My point in this rant... Get it together Google/Waze. I loved this app once. I would even be willing to pay for the service if you got rid of the ads and got me to my destination the fastest way. Oh! And I have also proven my point by sometimes ignoring the turn you want me to make knowing there will probably be less traffic and watched my arrival time get quicker and quicker. End of rant. Five Stars again when you put the drivers first again rather than your sponsors. Edit... Now I really wish I could give 0 stars. No response from developer on this nor to my support request through the app. So... Thanks for not getting back to me and you have lost yet another user... Wake up Waze!
Needs Improvement
by Yosuke Matsumura on 2018/11/28 04:03
CarPlay support needs attention. The dictation of destinations is flat out broken. If I’m playing music or podcasts in Overcast, it won’t even pause it when listening for the voice dictation. Even worse, even if no audio is playing, the app says it’s “listening” but catches nothing. The feature is useless. Reporting stuff takes too many taps. There are basically 2 things that get reported 99% of the time - police and car stopped on shoulder. Why can the police report be done in 2 taps while the stopped car takes like 4? Why does it take the same amount of taps as roadkill? Siri Shortcuts integration is BADLY needed. It’s the best way to gain back some functionality since you can’t set default map apps in iOS. “Hey Siri, Waze to mom’s house”. PLEASE!! Turn tracking. When I come to a turn, please just assume I’m making the turn and rotate the map when I get to the intersection. I know the GPS needs some time to verify that I’ve actually made the turn, but waiting 3-4 seconds for the map to recognize that I’ve made a turn is bothersome and sometimes very annoying if I need to make multiple turns in quick succession. If the app would just assume the turn is going to be made and preemptively rotate the map, that would be awesome. (Like the native Apple Maps does it)
Using Waze for 6 years.
by waldron77 on 2018/09/18 16:18
I’ve been using Waze for about 6 years and there have been a lot of great improvements in that time. I only have a few gripes about it atm. First off it’s kinda annoying when it automatically navigates you to a location like your home. I do not have a normal commute being a contractor. So I head home at different times in the day. So what happens when I’m entering a new address to drive to it interrupts me when I’m still punching the address in. At times I’ve been mistaken when the address I just entered was where I was heading, when in reality it had already decided I wanted to go home. I wish this function was optional! The second issue is waze will take you to the completely wrong location because it didn’t find the address you where looking for so it will say let’s go and when you get close it’s just the street and not a house number. Or it will add a NE at the end without you noticing it. I’ve spent a lot of time having to navigate to the right address using google or Apple maps. But I continue to use waze because it is helpful in the city getting around wrecks and jams! P.S. it destroys your battery life! Absolute must to have it charging while navigating.
Mostly Good Navigation, Interface Problems
by HomerIII on 2017/09/20 12:14
I switch back and forth between Waze and Google maps, often comparing routes. While usually similar, Waze seems to be better on avoiding problems and using real-time traffic data. However, it also has an annoying bug — occasionally it will take you off the most direct route and send you in a large circle, ending back on the main route close to where you left. I’ve seen this happen when it was clear there was no reason to make this detour because I could see that the main route was clear far ahead. My other gripe is that lack of control over the interface leads to annoyances. While you now have more control over what problems it reports (finally, no more “car on the side of the road” alerts!), it seems to ignore the setting for distance, often reporting “Police 25 miles ahead” when they aren’t even on your route. Also, while the speedometer is very useful, there is no way to change the size or default colors (white below speed limit, red above), so it is often impossible to read. Bottom line: worth giving a try, but don’t ditch Google maps, and watch out for occasionally nutty directions.
One problem
by kennyjoe28 on 2018/10/29 15:22
Only being able to connect facebook contacts is a big issue I’ve read. I don’t have Facebook nor ever will. I wish there was a Waze chat, or able to add friends from waze directly. Example: if I’m in route and pass another wazer I would like to send a chat if there’s a wreck ahead or update them on a different route if they need assistance. The last second wrecks or objects in road can come up quick. Also. I wish there was a way waze wouldn’t just take you the “fastest” route and choose the interstate every time. Sometimes I want to just cruise and find new roads and scenery. I love taking little roads to get to my destinations. Especially around the city of Nashville. I would rather it take me a left, right, right, left , right, than to hear stay on i65 for 3 miles. But that’s just me! Other than that wish you could customize your post board, instead of trying to find what your looking for just to post a car on the side of the road, instead of having to go to hazard, on shoulder, then post, just need a “ car on shoulder button” boink! Then it’s accurate instead of half a mile away from where it was when u passed it. Haha let me work for waze I’ll show ya what’s up
Great app
by Bb2132 on 2018/04/07 19:06
I gave this 4 stars only because of how many times you have to press something to report it. I quick button or favorite would be great. Example: I live in a very rural area. I use this to mark deer on the roads for my coworkers that are behind me. I have to press 5 buttons in order to mark them. It's a dark and winding road with lots of deer so this is dangerous or it takes a while for me to get it marked. A quick button on the map screen for animals on the road would be fantastic. When I see a deer, I can just press that button and boom, it's done. Of course this could be a customization for people and maybe have a couple spots for quick buttons. That's just one that I use very often (10 to 15 times in 25 miles). I know others have their most frequent buttons they use. Two or three buttons across the bottom or left side would not hurt anything. You can even make them smaller like the size of the compass. P.S. if points are not accumulating, write a review and they will appear. I’ve done that twice. lol Waze, what is happening with the points? They have it updated in a while, again. Come on Waze, I live for these points! I live for these rankings. I need updated!!
Used to Love
by jerseygirl__xoxo on 2019/01/16 09:26
This used to be my go to app because it would automatically give you the quickest route, but now when I use it it gives me directions as i’m supposed to be making it with no warnings. For example, on the highway, it used to say exit in 2 miles, 1 mile, 750 feet, now it doesn’t do that anymore and I have to actually watch the gps map to make sure i’m getting off the right one. Sometimes driving in town it will just say turn left without any warning that I was approaching the turn and I sometimes miss my turn now and go out of my way. I also notice that as i’m driving it malfunctions and starts giving me directions for a place i’m unsure of and now I can’t trust any directions that come out of if because I don’t know if I actually have to turn or if it’s malfunctioning. It’s very unsafe and causes me to get distracted and look at my phone to find out what’s going on. For example, once on the highway I was supposed to be on it for 15 miles. All of a sudden it was said left on Lincoln Street....... in the middle of the highway. I knew there was no street to turn on. It had a app like seziure for 4 minutes where it kept recalculating to an unknown destination. It has also done this off the highway and has messed me up driving. I reached out to waze and even uninstalled and reinstalled and it has never been fixed. I will not be using anymore.
Was GREAT....Now it doesn’t work 😖
by AshEBom on 2018/01/21 16:36
I had been using Waze for about a year and LOVED IT!! But since the most recent IOS update, it continually is “searching for GPS” and looking for language (I still speak English 😉). I went to my cellphone provider, then Apple, and logged off of Waze to see if the app would reset itself and be fixed. This didn’t work. I even did a total reset of my phone, and nothing worked on Waze and Google (who owns Waze). I then contacted Waze, but got nothing but constant/obvious automated answers back that stated things to do that I already started I HAD ALREADY DONE and listed in my email. This is upsetting since other competing GPS apps work on my phone, so it’s not anything on my end. After a couple of weeks, I did a web search to see if others had issues or could help me. Interestingly enough, I found out I am in good company, sadly. Please Waze/Google, it would be greatly appreciated if you could actually get this obvious bug fixed. Your app was wonderful, but I’m sadly happy to switch to another app to at least get me to places. No, the other apps don't have the accident, police, or other very helpful perks. I just can’t stand diving “approximately” or now the map keeps me at the beginning location and has no idea that I have already driven and arrived at my destination. Beyond frustrating. Again, please send out a fix! 🔨
Not the app it once was
by MaddowLove on 2018/10/30 09:12
This app used to be the best bet for beating horrible city traffic, finding the best routes for long drives, and optimizing efficiency on city-street-drives. But very recently, within the last few weeks, I’ve noticed that when I need to go anywhere more than 30 or 40 miles away (sometimes less) especially during rush hour or peak traffic times (which is when you need the help the most), the app gives me errors messages like “unable to connect to routing server” or “something went wrong” and it just won’t calculate my route... AT ALL. I’ve actually had to resort to using the native Apple Maps app on my phone lately.... and that was something I abandoned like three years ago. Waze, just last year, was able to route an inter- state trip I went on, with no problems. Now it can’t even get me to the next city over during rush hour. Hey Waze executives... INVEST IN SOME BETTER SERVER FARMS!! No one cares what you can do at 3 AM or 12:15 PM... you need to work at 7 AM and 5:30 PM. If you are falling victim to your own popularity and success (aka, you can’t handle the traffic on your own network, no pun intended), then either upgrade your infrastructure and bandwidth, or bow out and let Google Maps or Apple Maps take over.
Waze has flaked out since last update
by want my privacy on 2018/09/19 22:46
I have always been a huge fan of Waze and recommended it to others on a regular basis. I would have given it five stars. But in the last couple weeks, as it seems since the last update, it has lost its accuracy. It is taking me into traffic jams on a regular basis and redirecting me when there is no problem as I can see the freeway from the new route & it is traveling faster than I am. Warning of hazards has diminished in accuracy also. There has always been a problem with Waze sometimes not giving enough notice to get off the route when there is a problem I had resulting in me losing the opportunity to avoid the traffic jam. I have never understood this issue because when I’m on a route and have to make a turn ahead, Waze alerts me incessantly about the upcoming turn. This is particularly irritating when it’s a route that I drive all of the time. I thought Waze was supposed to learn about my usual routes. It also does not seem to learn that I have a preference for a different route in my neighborhood and is always trying to redirect me to its route which is not any faster and has some other shortcomings.
Makes driving more difficult tbh
by lattjkkogcd on 2017/12/22 23:49
My first problem with this app is that it would change routes on me all of the sudden, it was frustrating and I don’t need that kind of distraction - you can’t expect me to keep my eyes glued onto my phone to watch if it changed routes. Like at least let me know before hand that the route was changed. I deleted the app but then decided to give it a second chance because I like the community aspect of it. I like how it told me what areas were slow, where construction was, where police were, as well as comments from other divers. While driving I came across an accident, traffic was slow because they closed down a lane so I decided to report it... only to come to find I didn’t know how to. I obviously couldn’t take the time to figure it out since I was driving so when I got home I figured it out. Apparently you can only report an accident if you are in the area..... AND driving. Why would I try to report something while driving? Sorry Waze, I gave you a chance but I like to drive safe. Only way I could see this being a good app is if you’re driving with someone else who can do it for you or if you let us report things when we’re not in the area and not driving .... and let us know when you switch a route for god’s sake
Ford Sync Integration
by theBrknSystm on 2018/05/17 15:03
Love that I can now project Waze right on to my big screen with Sync 3. However, it seems like I often have to close the app, disconnect the phone then re open the app are re connect the phone for it to work. Otherwise on the first attempt when I launch Waze on Sync 3 it just sits there saying waiting for the device indefinitely. In addition, the performance is rather sluggish on screen. Attempting to report anything or do a search on screen is painful. So you end up closing the app and doing it on the the phone first then re launching the app on Sync 3. So I'm really hoping to see a performance improvement as the integration matures. My only other complaint would be that unlike the built in system navigation that can utilize the whole screen, Waze feels scrunched as to leave the system navigation buttons accessible at the bottom. Likewise when on the home screen the built in navigation gives you a mini map but when Waze is running you just get the Waze icon until you click it. I'm assuming since it's a third party integration there may be nothing that can be done about that but if it could that would be awesome.
Tremendous!
by SanDiego1986 on 2018/07/13 16:47
It’s beyond user friendly and all of the content is submitted by users. You can report literally any condition on the road. From downed power lines, major accidents, and all the way to road kill. You can also report a problem with the map (like I did) and someone will actually contact you as to what the map should look like. I reported a problem with the way my neighborhood was mapped because people kept getting lost. Within 24 hours, a map editor got in contact with me. I was even able to send him a video of how my neighborhood is mapped out. He took that video and compared it with satellite images and he fixed the issue. Now, people will be led to within five feet of my front door instead of across the street. You can also chat with other drivers. If there is an accident and you report it, you can add a message on it saying which lanes are blocked. Everyone can see that and it has also been known to help emergency responders get to an accident more efficiently. I’ve had it for nine months and I’m STILL discovering all of the stuff Waze can do. And the best part? It is 100% free.
Did Waze lose the way?
by chris78626 on 2018/07/09 10:22
I’ve been a daily user of the app for 6 years. 1) At some point over the last 2-4 months Waze seems to have slipped on reliably finding the fastest route. It used to be that I could practically never pick my own route that would beat Waze’s ETA. Then overnight the algorithm seems to have broken. Now I can often shave minutes off by taking a side street around a traffic light that is always backed up or something similar. I just passed up my exit in favor of a different route and shaved 4 minutes off my trip to Houston after Waze recalculated. All through June I played a game with my daughter on the way to summer camp: How many minutes can dad shave off of Waze. On the 19 miles to Camp, my average was 5 minutes, using the same shortcuts 20 days in a row. YOU’RE LOSING WHAT MADE YOU BETTER THAN APPLE AND GOOGLE. My guess is in an effort to streamline the algorithm (to save computing cycles due to an explosion of user load?) you’re ignoring some potential routes and you’ve lost something essential. 2) Bring back fastest/shortest. It matters for people driving electric vehicles. Or create an EV mode that will help minimize total kW used from A to B. It also matters for motorcyclists who’d rather not get on the 80mph Texas freeway.
Really good, some quirks
by Kphelgerson on 2018/04/09 20:21
Love the app. Seemingly without provocation, it asks me what I want. This part should go away if you say NOTHING. Or ERROR. But no, I have to tap the screen to cancel that while I am trying to pay attention to driving. Also, it mysteriously turns totally black at times. Nothing on the screen. I restart it and the same thing happen sometimes three times in a row. If they could work out these little bugs, that would be great. It also is not very clear when you're trying to alert other people about police, or accidents, or things along the roadside, whether the alert gets put in when you finally get finished pushing all of the buttons for the location where you are then, a mile down the road, or for the location where you started. An easier tutorial on educating it to voice commands would be way faster. I would much rather yell HEY WAZE--POLICE HIDDEN OTHER SIDE than tap at my screen a lot while driving. But a lot of users seem to be figuring it out as I get 90% useful info and it is by far the best traffic alert app out there. Update 2018: now it also seems to be totally quiet even when I turn the voice on many times.
Poor iPhone X support
by OneRunJunior on 2018/01/21 02:53
Even after a couple of updates since the iPhone X was released there’s still little to no changes in the interface issues they have with the iPhone X. When using directions the screen is biased way too far left. They state this is to make sure the alerts/directions have enough space but they’ve given it far too much. You see almost nothing to the right side of the map when navigating. What’s even worse is when you’re not actively navigating and just want to use it for traffic alerts and hazards on a route you already know the map is biased even farther to the left. When just using it for the purpose of knowing what hazards are around you when not navigating it’s not acceptable to not be able to see anything on the right hand side of the screen. I’ve emailed them and submitted a bug report but they responded that this was their intended behavior. I would rate it lower but I feel that would be too harsh. If they can fix that and fix the fact that the icons on screen are cut off on the right side I may reconsider my rating. Until now it’s a three star app at best, not being able to see anything on one side of the screen is just not acceptable.
Not Real time or realistic
by JBrock1971 on 2018/10/23 15:54
Started using the app yesterday from Massachusetts to New York. It told me several locations were cops are reported where there was none but reported within a few minutes Amira passing the area. There were no cops in any of these locations. The same holds true for vehicles on the side of the road. There’s nowhere in this app allows a person to edit the information. If the app is trailing you and using her GPS at a particular location then it should know where your vehicle is stopped at and for how long to determine if it’s an impeachment to traffic or any given situation. Why not use an overlay and retrieve information from google as to the traffic flow which would then determine the best route to take. This app only gives you direction from point a to point B but does not give you real live traffic situations to avoid delays or rerouting. Everyone using the app has to be in real time how does one know whether there is no longer a speed trap ahead? You also then cannot have each individual editing at Will because then they’ll just delete the stop so I’m not understanding the usefulness except to be able to see other people that are in the area that you’re associated with in your address book which is basically stocking
Waze is a life saver... AND my time saver!
by ThatTXGiRL || ATXGRL on 2018/10/02 06:12
I wish Waze was around when I was much younger and had a need for speed. I cannot express my gratitude enough for how many times Waze has saved me from speeding in unfamiliar areas local or when traveling... of course, not to mention how many times it has saved me from cops or speed traps up ahead! Even when I am familiar with all the short cuts and back roads in my hometown, there has been a few times where I did not trust Waze when it said that the alternative route(s) would be faster to my destination. It catches all the traffic, accidents, road closures and construction that may delay you to your destination. Well needless to say I’ve learned my lesson and will forever trust my Waze regardless if I know a shorter route or not. It is always precisely on time with your ETA. Share your ETA with friends so they can actually see you in route. Plan trips to get there on time if you are unsure of traffic or delays. The fun part is you can even record your own voice as a navigation guide. Don’t be late! Just do it | Trust Waze! Yours Truly, ThatTXGiRL || ATXGRL ||
Used to like it
by It's gotta be me on 2017/10/04 14:48
Overall it is a nice app. I love how it can be useful with up-to-date notifications from other wazers. But there are flaws. First, I can't stand how it is worthless without Internet connection, so when I have no data I am unable to help others and report a car accident or speed cam I see. Second, once I tried to be helpful after I spent a long time in an unexpected traffic jam due to road works and a followed change of traffic flows, but the person responsible for editing maps told me it was non-important since it was a temporary change. What the heck, why can't you stop being a douche and let people know they can't pass now? Yes, they will drive as soon as works are done but that's in days, and before that it is forbidden to go in that direction. I thought it was a dumb behavior of a moderator, so I decided not to deal with map editing anymore. Too bad since I know about many closures and traffic changes while Waze fails to know it before me. Be more adequate and user friendly, and you'll become a wonderful application. Until that I'm using a local app that is indifferent to Internet and is quite fast to warn drivers about any circumstances they may come across.
All Alerts gone!
by Rhanderman on 2018/06/20 01:43
Something's definitely changed! No hazards show up. No police show up. A few wazers show up, but no alerts at all. I've driven to and from work for a week now without a single alert! And that's impossible. There are hazards everywhere on the freeway on my commute, every day. But they've stopped showing up. AND, when I post, they show up for a second and then vanished! Hopefully this is something I'm doing wrong, cuz I love this app! Well... When it works. OLD REVIEW I try to be a very conscientious driver. You know, thinking a few seconds into the future to be ready for what might happen. This app is the perfect companion to that kind of driving. It almost always eliminates surprises related to hazards, the over-reactors who slam on their brakes at the sight of a police car, or slow traffic. It's almost like having a crystal ball! Almost. The reason for only 4 stars is that the app doesn't always put icons on the correct side of the road, as in the case of a divided highway, where I indicate "Other Side". But if greater concern is that sometimes the countdown timer for a hazard begins when the hazard is still WAY ahead of me. Not behind, but ahead. I lose my chance to confirm a hazard before I can even see it! Aside from those two annoyances, great app!
Ridiculous

“Support” for this app is a joke. Updates completely mess up the ease of utilization. I had been a user for some years, and after an update the app decided not to work anymore. It continually said “error with connection. Check your service and try again later.” There was absolutely nothing wrong with my service, as I was utilizing the internet, Pandora, and my banks app all just fine. I restart my phone, still the same thing. I can’t reach out to “support” at that point because the app won’t open! What else am I supposed to do other than to delete & re-download. Low & behold, when the app asks for your phone number when you register, it doesn’t mean anything. It completely erased EVERYTHING I had before. “Support” told me to log in with a phone number, well guess what that’s not even an option. Then they say, oh well, “We value our users' privacy and wish to protect the information associated with each account (recent drives, favorites, etc.). Because of this, we are unable to grant access to accounts that don’t have a linked email address and ask you to please create a new user.” Really? You can’t recognize my name, phone number and photo that was associated with the previous account? What good is a security system that only includes an email? Complete, utter, joke.
Wish there was a way to rate CarPlay separately.

Love waze, have used it for years. Actual app is 5/5. Can provide a little too much info if you are a first time user, but once you get use to the extra info(and how to filter it off the screen if you want to) it’s an amazing service. (E.G. auto re-routing, time reduced traffic reroute, accident and police info, and even a calming voice showing you how long you’ll be in traffic. Having said all that, the carplay execution of this app is garbage. The whole point of car play is to be hands free and not require you to look at the phone screen while enhancing user knowledge by taking advantage of the larger screen, but half the useful info (inexplicably) is on the phone screen during carplay interaction. The screen also doesn’t display when you are going faster than the speed limit and has reduced re-routing functionality. It basically takes away key capabilities and functionality to allow me to use a marginally larger screen. I got so frustrated with the overall car play experience that I’ve opted to just start using bluetooth and a phone holder. Probably not entirely Waze’s fault, but the end result is a terrible user interaction.
Disappointed
by Pecus9793 on 2018/09/09 20:34
I am very disappointed with this app, when I first downloaded it about a year I absolutely loved it. I loved all the traffic cameras and conditions notifications. As time went by the app began deteriorating. It would crash on me often and I would have to delete and re-download. It often makes me drive in circles, literally. Just today I was late to a very important appointment, what was meant to be a 25 minute drive turned to an hour. Legit made me circulate a street three times and as always notified me very last minute. While driving I depend on voice over but I constantly catch myself reaching for the phone because of how delayed the voice directions are. I’ve missed many exits because of this. I always give it the benefit of the doubt and hope for all the bugs to be fixed and yet I find myself circulating areas or taking unnecessary drives to get where I need to. I only drove three miles around my house only to end up back on the Main Street, and take my usual route to work. I am wasting gas and time. I officially am retiring my app and will depend on Apple maps instead, Waze has so more potential and I hope they will work to fix all these issues. In the mean time I am done giving it second and more chances.

No GPS
by chbookchick on 2018/03/11 13:25
Used to be my GPS of choice with real time road reports; I even relied on the display that shows how fast you are going. Now GPS is extremely spotty, to the point of having no GPS, with the constant message, “No GPS. Showing approximate location.” No fix has worked with this, and I’ve had to transition to Google Maps and Apple Maps, neither of which was ever a favorite, but as they actually show GPS, are now far superior. The past few updates have also made the app less user friendly; for some reason they think users need things to be more complicated with more buttons and bows. The pure simplicity of reporting road hazards, of changing routes, or even trying to see what’s further ahead were simple and easy to get to, however now they are now an actual distraction and have smaller displays, so I simply don’t use them, don't report anything, and don’t thank anyone — well, since I can’t actually use the app because it doesn’t show any GPS, this is not an issue, is it? Final synopsis, it’s a good app if you can actually get the GPS to work, if a bit less user friendly than it used to be, and normally I’d definitely recommend over Apple or Google Maps. They need to keep in mind, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” because the last few fixes completely broke it.

Live the app
by GhostRider663 on 2019/02/16 20:54
I love Waze. I find it to be more accurate at estimated time arrivals than any of other mapping apps out there. I do find it a little difficult to see location and length of traffic delays however. Make that more intuitive and its 5 stars for sure.
Great app, Apple Car Play needs tweak
by Noname10239 on 2019/02/16 19:40
I was so glad when Waze started working on Apple Car Play last fall. My only complaint is that there is not a directional on my screen. Am I going north? South? There are times I need to know.

Some afraid I’m going to discontinue using it at all.

by Handzi on 2019/02/14 00:03
I have never done a review on... well anything. Get it

I use this app even when I know where I’m going, it alerts me to all sorts of shenanigans going on in between myself and work. This app is consistently helpful also as police move traffic cameras around in my county, very sneaky. Identifies those camera locations more effectively and quickly than any other map program I have and I have three on my iPhone.

Waze while connected to car play..
by Exhibit_A on 2019/02/12 22:00
While connected to car play and using waze, has any noticed continuous never ending loading while trying to choose a destination? The only fix I found is to unplug my phone from car play and load your destination and then plug it back in to car play.. this gets pretty annoying especially when you are trying to use waze for food delivery or ride share.. I see a lot of low ratings for waze lately that I’m starting to think it’s google that destroyed it and making it worse with every update..

Not very good anymore.
by Impost0r on 2018/10/06 19:12
Every time I set a long destination (over 100 miles) it gives me the stupid... uh oh something went wrong message when attempting to set the route.

AND my time saver!
by ThatTXGiRL || ATXGRL on 2018/10/02 06:12
I wish Waze was around when I was much younger and had a need for speed.
