Good core game bad everything else
by spongy74 on 2021/01/25 15:14
The game had cool elements and the potential to be great, BUT there is too many microtransactions and you can even keep playing the game after awhile because your on cool down. FOR A DAY I love the core game it’s fun in theory but if you hate doing things get this game

This is one of the best construction/space/fighting game I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. I feel that a lot of care was taken when making this game, very heart-felt. Good job 👍👌

I love the game and I’ve put some decent time into it but I went to move a reactor to the front of my ship it said couldn’t move room and my game hasn’t been able to load since.

Parents BEWARE
by mom2nathanluke on 2021/01/18 07:07
There is online chat, friend requests, and DM options on a global platform—and no way to monitor any of it. It’s an easy way for predators to target and solicit kids, which happened to mine. The Age 9+ rating is deceiving and wrong. It is NOT safe for kids!
Fun game
by Random Lost Man on 2021/01/17 17:38
I keep coming back to it, it has elements of RPG, party management, and strategy. It has a single player campaign, PVE, and PVP.
Very Enjoyable
by Thedarksaver on 2021/01/16 20:00
I’m very invested in the game. The story isn’t my favorite thing, but pvp is fun.
Good game good storyline.

This game is good for people that like space and a mixture of idle games. That’s why I like.

Pretty Good Game
by ifiofchhcDG on 2021/01/14 19:52
Very addicting, only complaint is that it’s a bit hard to start out. Took me a while to realize doing pvp rather than the missions that it gave you, which were too hard for my beginning ship, was better for resources.
Beautiful
by Super critic dude on 2021/01/14 11:25
Very niche game with developers who care... chat is edgy and you can battle as frequently as you want. What more could you ask for?
Best game
by Tori2239 on 2021/01/12 23:41
This is the best game in the world I love it and I would highly recommended this game because it’s fun like you can fight other people and upgrade your ship and add stuff to your starship.

Infuriating
by nhxhdhd on 2021/01/10 21:31
Forces you to create an account that you cant create,i put 2 emails in and it didn’t work. If you dont put your account, when you exit out,(not delete, exit out) it forces you to create a new game. Dont download this game until they fix this problem. Because the game is actually unplayable.
It’s fun.

Real ads should be rewarded

The ad for thus fame is hilarious. It mocks the fake ads you see for homescapes and such. I downloaded just for that but stayed because it is fun!
Great game on mobile but not so great on laptop
by Dan Bars on 2021/01/04 14:05
The game is amazing and runs fine on mobile so I installed it through steam, I was aware that it said early access but when I first installed it there was no problem I got my ship up to level 4 then my game just froze, after waiting about five minutes I powered down my laptop and powered it back up, I haven’t been able to load the game since, It may have messed up my steam account as now I can’t access steam or any of my other games from steam. All my other browsers work fine but whenever I click on steam or a game from steam nothing happens, I don’t know if this is a result of pixel starships but I think it might be. The reason I’m putting this review here and not on steam is because I can’t access it.
Clash of clans and FTL
by epickiritogamermannotcringe on 2021/01/04 13:38
The combat from FTL and the exact same building leveling experience as clash of clans. The waiting part can be shortened to an extreme because you can watch ads to clear a whole 15 mins, so that’s an improvement over the aforementioned.
Would help if I could upgrade ship
by hollowfrave on 2021/01/04 02:01

by ndienciwnbwdiid on 2021/01/03 16:09
Fun game! Slowly adds complexity that is not overwhelming. Very useful AI system that some choose not to use, but totally worthwhile to! Wish it was a tad bit easier to arm your crew, but I guess that’s part of the longevity of the game.
Cool, clever
by gadavis on 2021/01/03 15:59
Nice game, just started exploring all it has to offer- engaging without seeming to be a total time-monopolizer.
Can be super fun casual play or more intense play.

So about miners
by sudwap on 2021/01/03 01:38
So last time I played this game I picked the miner corporation and got wrecked because theirs weak defenses for the miners so I was wondering if you could add a optional path for miners
Absolutely pay to win
by Gurdhjudg on 2021/01/01 23:18
Not at first, they walk you in slow and give you alot of leg up. But at levels 5-8, youll notice you are losing 90% of pvp battles against the same tech and crew. Tech and crew thats grossly OP and can only be purchased. This combined with the annoyingly long recovery times between battles make you want to spend money to hurry things along. Fun for a week or two, got old real quick.
I LOVE IT

Awesome game until.......
by pinaple underpants on 2021/01/01 12:12
This was my favorite game until I had to get rid of it cause it was wasting all my battery and making my thing slower. Do not fall for it’s trick, do not be like me. Be smart and stay away from this game before it does to you what it did to me. Edit: I do not have a phone I have an iPad
I like it
by davenelson on 2020/12/31 15:51

Improved a bit
by Chesster12309 on 2020/12/31 14:32
Combat is still a bit unnatural of swiping up and down for power does not work very well and bouncing between ships is awkward and annoying. Art is good, ship building is fun
Pretty good
by nickname1111🤮🤮🦠 on 2020/12/29 23:35
I would enjoy more unique content when it comes to exploration but besides that it’s a really nice little game
Fun game and very deep strategy game all in one!

Space Trek!!!
by Mryyden on 2020/12/24 14:38
Great 8bit game, surprising in depth game mechanics. Cool community and lots of content, also something for everyone-pvp-pve, etc. I keep it going in my shop most of the time lol, not really a sit down and play for hours but entertaining as a quick 30 min here and there.

SPACE
Awful UI playability
by growlersteine on 2020/12/24 05:27
Good idea for the game, bad UI during battles, difficult to manage crew and target, often cant selet and move crew as needed. Long winded on missions, take more than 8 clicks to achieve deploying a drone, same darn message over and over again, should minimize if already visited! Rediculous out classed levels when visiting system daily missions, how does a mission 6 match you with level 10 ships? Or killer robots that kill your crew in round 1? The Ads... wow, talk about making you watch ads to gain anything? The amount they make off the ads is amazing! Pay to play.

Glitches and Lies.
by frausti000 on 2020/12/18 22:39
You can certainly f2p, but it’ll take you a few years just to competently reach max lvl, and you’ll still be way behind against the rest at that level. You quite literally can’t trust a single thing the devs claim. When you report these rampant bugs, you’ll be told they checked the data and you’re wrong...when reality and your screenshots back you up. Things you pay actual $$ for will not work, or straight up disappear. Every event is basically pointless to play, just doing the boring dailies is more valuable in the end. We want content, but not anti-content.

So this is a awesome game I absolutely love it and I had this old account With a huge ship and stuff but I redownloaded it and it made me start over. :( I was wondering if I could contact game support but I don’t know what to do. Please link this game to Game Center so it doesn’t happen to someone else. Again great game.
Account support
by Boi63787 on 2020/12/16 07:55
Just wanna say that they are amazing at help players with problems, i had two major bugs/incidents that happened and when I was stuck and reached out to the support staff i got both of the problems resolved within 3 hours(which is pretty good considering how many random reports they must get) 10/10 would recommend at least trying this game to see if you like it😀👍🏻

Sci-fi awesomeness
by VorInvictus on 2020/12/14 04:25
Scratches that spaceship commander itch if you’re into that sort of thing (Star Wars, Star Trek, Elite Dangerous, Eve, etc.) Perfect, fun little mobile game all in all. Doesn’t force ads on you, despite being free to play, which is a major plus in my opinion. Props to the devs for that. There’s optional ads to get a few of the premium currency “starbux” and they’re so out of the way I didn’t even find the option for a good while, as opposed to in-your-face distracting offers like I’m used to on mobile. Lots of fun, keep it up!
Good and Bad
by Fellow09 on 2020/12/14 03:15
This game is actually VERY good, but once you get to the next planet, they put you against airships with an insane amount of weapons, or other stations like shields and making the Grey ufo extremely expensive in the highest in game currency. Overall though, it is very fun and I enjoy it!

If your looking for a game that is NOT super complicated, really fun, strategy, and playing online with other players then this is the game for you. This game has so much detail, and yes it is a pixel game but that’s what makes it fun. I have been absolutely hooked to this game, this game also has a great tutorial and the online chat system (which you can turn off if you’d like) where you can ask real people any questions and I’m sure they could help you.

The best online space game! but just one thing
by Yuiro_14 on 2020/11/24 21:29
this is hands down best space game I have ever played. but there is just one problem. For every new ship I get, I don’t get much more space in my ship so, i think you should make some of the ships larger because I end up not having enough space for my modules which is annoying. But otherwise I love the game so keep up the good work! P.S. i think also having 4v4 battles or 6v6 battles is a good idea.
Fun game
by Workplace_Ace on 2020/11/24 06:10
I am enjoying the game so far. I wish there was some better instructions for certain things like ship construction and character stats, but other than that the game is pretty cool. I like that I can play leisurely and the customizing/upgrading is cool.
Best space adventure I have played
by swagerxs on 2020/11/10 22:23
I will let y’all know right now this is the best game I’ve played so far when it comes to space based combat and more I love the new galaxy system where you can explore new places and all that I have a developing storyline however I wish there was more galaxies to explore or more planets than there is right now and I hope at some point they add larger ships cause level 12 Is right around the corner for me it’s really not that hard to get their and I recommend like maybe doing a level 30 level cab and see what happens I love the fact the ships keep getting bigger and I hope you guys make him to wear their practically summer like death star sized or if that doesn’t work instead do like with this previous review had said instead of after hitting level 12 so we’re getting bigger you get smaller support craft that help you fight and battle and you could pick a battle mode that let you use that otherwise you just play at the normal level 12 level for your ship other than that this is a pretty good game I recommend it to everyone it’s not super grainy if you were really good at strategy and love managing AI to which pretty much is a premise of the game you don’t have to micromanage everything but if you learn how to micromanage AI commands and all that you can basically play this like an idol game as well.
Great Game, but
by SuperBeeTNT on 2018/10/21 17:52
I love this game and enjoy playing it everyday, but I wish there was some way to have a faction war. Like a 3v3 or a 5v5. This may need new type of craft that could heal allies or act as a shield. I always thought the idea of a craft that your crew could board and infiltrate the enemy ship in mass numbers would be cool. Another idea would allow you to buy 2 small frigates that would fight with your ship, and have separate power and crew That would make this game completely amazing! I do wish the leveling up of your ship was easier. I seem to have gotten stuck at gold+, where the only way to level up would be to pay money or grind for 16 hours straight, and I don’t have the time for that. The nanopaint is awesome idea, but does not work at all and is a waste of Starbucks until it’s fixed, thank you for your first valiant attempt. I also really want a private faction for friends, but I don’t have enough friends to get a starbase, if possible lower the amount of people required for a starbase, that would make this game be a 6/5. This game is totally awesome. Keep up the great work! :)
Awesome
by Lalsmen on 2018/08/15 20:16
I personally really enjoy base defense games like this one and Clash of Clans, but I think that this game blows all others like it out of the water! In clash of clans, you can't really control where your troops go once you place them, or which specific troops your defenses will target, but in this game, it's all you. You can choose to target individual subsystems, weapons, and even, to an extent, crew members! You can set up an ai to defend your ship, add stickers to your ship, and change the color of your ship. There is a lot of personalization, which is nice, and just so many feature that make this game a worthwhile download! 10/10 Great game!!😀 (Edit: I do have one problem with the game. One of the things that you can do with your ship, is that you can spend a substantial amount of the games premium currency, and be able to change the color of your ship. I was excited about this, and I saved up to get that. However when I did this, I found that it basically averages the color. For example I tried to do red, and it gave me orange. That is frustrating, and I hope that that could be patched, if this is fixed, I will change my review back to five stars. Please take heed to this devs! Thanks!)
Fun but needs a few tweaks
by rich moneys guy on 2020/03/25 02:18
First off let me just say that this game is really fun. I have been playing for months now and I haven’t grown out of it like I do to a lot of the games I get. But some things could be changed to make the game better. First off there needs to be way more things to buy using gas. I know to research you have to use gas but sometimes it doesn’t take up that much. At this point I am level six and I am playing as a Quantarian. Most room upgrades are like 90 k minerals and I don’t normally get as much minerals as I do gas even though all of my gas collectors and mineral miners are the same level. And let’s not forget about the mineral mining lasers that also add to my mineral collection. Another thing is that the special offers in the shop are kinda pay to win. I was destroyed by a level 5 ship because it had 2 multi- missile launchers. Overall the game is good and very fun. I recommend this game to everyone. The only things that need to be fixed is what I just explained. Great game.

Overall this game is perfect. However I have a few requests, when I got a crew-member from missions, i had received a nurse... all that I saw though was a floating torso, nothing else. If anyone can fix this I will be pleased. Also, when I got this game it reminded me of Terraria CPU’s , and I look at the crew members and how they move when not fighting, they don’t leave their rooms, I feel like if you let the crew members to freely move around the ship and mace even have conversations with one another , it would enhance gameplay. But because whey won’t stay in the rooms assigned to them, you’ll have to create another menu to select which rooms the characters will start at when initiating a ship battle. This will make them much more appealing and entertaining to watch them move around a bit more, rather than them pace back and forth while being isolated from the crew. Either way, great game. Highly recommended. At least give it a shot, I’m sure you’ll love the game once you try it.
Best Strategy Game
by Shqipeboys on 2020/06/06 18:43
This is one of the best strategy games on the App store. It’s got an enormous amount of depth with the AI programming, different item combinations and equipment, different styles. Even different factions. There’s tons of crew, each has their own stats that improve a certain type of room. There are various abilities to be used while in battle. Want to board an enemy ship, but getting destroyed by critical strike defenders? Equip some HP items or train HP on your crew! Getting destroyed by boarders? Place some mines on your reactors. Everything is fully customizable. You can make your own layout however you want, fitting to the strategy you have. There’s no way to even begin explaining how awesome this game is just with writing a review, but i’ll end it with the note that the community for this game is also very helpful and it’s common for complete strangers to help each other out just out of generosity.
My 1st multi player online game
by Wixonswr on 2019/09/30 09:04
This was my first time playing online, interacting with other players. I am an older gamer, fortunately with disposable income. I was cluelessly roped into Vice Admiral of a fleet, right away, of very nice people but my only way to guide them was to advance by pay to play, (because I had no clue what I was doing so had to rush process to learn and instruct others aka a “whale” but with the intent to instruct lol). Happy to contribute to game/programmers blah etc etc. More so, Still enjoyed the camaraderie, awesome folks, later my fleet merged with great group when our original Admiral flaked on us. New group quickly Surpassed my limited guidance thank goodness. Then...A year later, I flaked. Regret it still. Awesome people. But I play video games because I am nonsocial. In the end it was too much pressure for me to keep up with “strangers/friends” a world away on a daily to weekly basis. How sad is that? I couldn’t deal with all the random beautiful people caring about me. I still think wonder about them all the time. Ps none of this is required by fun game just my experience.
Really?
by Egg5201@ on 2019/01/11 23:38
Don’t get me wrong, this game has so much potential and has so many awesome aspects to it but there is just one problem. The time it takes to do anything. The App Store is filled with games that you pay to win and I really thought this was going to be an exception... But what I found out is that its doused with build time exceeding 12 hours or even days, and the only way to get past it is by paying for bucks, not even the monthly membership for $4.00 helps you with the build times. This wait time for anything to build would be such a problem if say you could use your shield, lasers, or anything besides reactors while they were upgrading, but you can’t. You either pay the bucks or wait 12-14 hours for something to finish upgrading, just to upgrade another thing for 12-24 hours. Especially in the higher levels. If you want a 5 hour distraction this is a fun game but if you want to play it for a couple days, be prepared for a waiting game. I hope the developers see this and know that they truly have a nice game but it is a money pit that could’ve been fun if the developers were not so hungry for the next $1 in micro transactions.
Still buggy
by JBalagz on 2019/08/10 21:37
A great game that lets players design and program their starships. However, there are still many issues with Pixel Starships. One problem is how unpredictable teleporting crew members onto other ships can be. With some crew having overpowered abilities that can instantly kill many others, boarding enemy ships could instantly secure a victory or have very little effect. Often very random and based on chance, depending on ship layouts and other “random” factors. Another problem that upset me very much was disconnecting often with a pop-up telling me to reconnect. It happened once while I was collecting profit from selling on the market. I find a few hundred of my “starbucks” missing. That’s quite a chunk of change. Help a player out and give me back my resources or my rating for this game will never go above 3 stars. Thanks for reading, develepors. I really hope you improve this game further because I have been enjoying it until now.
Very, Very Impressed.
by dontbother with this game on 2017/10/08 06:47
This game is very unique. Never have a played anything like it. There’s a lot of detail. For one, there is a lot of strategy involved, and many different ways to build your ship, program your ai with cmd commands. its not real time battles but if their AI is good enough, its gonna feel like one. There’s building times, but they feel rewarding. Visual level ups, noticable increase in what ever it is you upgraded. The Community is fun, kind of vulgar, watch out kiddies, But over very nice and helping. If you have a question, all chat will be there for you. You cant fit everything on your ship, you will have to sacrifice rooms from time to time depending on what you need to focus on (i.e battles or resource production) Lastly, one of my favorites. There is a sort of economy syestem. Virtually any item you find on your adventures, you can sell. And also buy. If you find a very valuable item, you can sell it for the resources in the game, and also PAYED currency. So there is no need to spend money on this game, you can do very well without any money spending. But maybe pop a $5 here or there just to help them out. They definitely earned it. Please let us remove an item from the market when ever we want. That would be great. Update the UI for the market, its gonna be so fun to just sit back and merch
Difficulty “curve”
by Eiraneth on 2020/05/24 05:15
I was having fun starting out, but the second I left my starting system, the enemies went from 1 gun light frigates with 2-3 crew, up to 4-6 gun maximum upgraded medium and heavy destroyers with 8 crew. That means that I went from fighting an enemy that takes down my shield in 2 volleys and I can go blow for blow with with ease, to an enemy that goes through all of my shield and half of my hull in one volley, and has a shield that recharged faster than I can damage it. I didn’t come here for an Idle game where I leave it for a few hours, come back, upgrade one thing, and do a quest once every two weeks, and I am most certainly not spending money on this, because of this is indicative of the future, money won’t be enough. Also, fix the UI, it takes almost a full minute to disable my engines so that I can enable my missile launcher, which is so long that against a PROPERLY SCALED enemy, they fire after I have disabled the enemy and target the first thing I destroyed, wasting the missile and my time.
Presses all the right buttons
by That guy+pi on 2020/07/05 02:51
This game gets it right in every way and I hope the developers can keep at it. I’m only in the early part of the game so far and it’s already got an adorable pixel aesthetic that I can’t get enough of, solid and easily understandable mechanics, and enough strategy involved with combat to give the player some options on how to approach any situation. The only issue I see so far is the melee combat is a little off: the menu options are too close together (wouldn’t worry if this was on pc or console but this matters on a touch screen). I’d like to see damage output have a range instead of a set amount every time; critical strikes and misses should be possible. Overall combat needs to have some variables thrown in to make it less monotonous. Other than that this is a solid game that deserves more attention.
Could be great, but isnt.
by cheesepk on 2017/12/12 13:03
This game could be great, but isnt due to poor decisions by developers. Its a shame that a great concept is ruined by crappy execution. Every decision made by developers makes the game less fun for players. Stop adding features no one wants and fix the bugs. The developers do listen and make themselves available for comment, but the problem is that they completely ignore the good advice we give them. Dont waste your time or money. Edit: The developer response just makes my point. Why implement something like ammo used on defenses when it forces people to reload for an hour before they can play after being away? Because it was suggested to you? Dont do things that break your game. And by the way having a playable crew that is a bug everytime the game is full of bugs is funny the first time but gets old fast when it is for sale a couple times a week. I appreciate the fact that you read reviews and respond but take the game back to six months ago when it was playable. New stuff is fun but only if it works and still lets you play the core game.
One of my all time favorites
by Whatabeast1027 on 2019/07/15 23:18
I’ve played probably thousands of online games on my phone and ipad just to pass the time. This game is by far the ABSOLUTE BEST game I have played. It is fun and exciting and the strategy and Ai aspect is amazing I just love it. The community and alliance I have joined (Nod Empire) are literally some of the best people I have ever met. We have voice chats on discord about the game and strategy and I feel that this is by far the best game community I have been a part of. My only negative comment is it takes a while for the game to be fixed with all the bugs after a big new update. Also they have a crew room which is only available for money which I think is kind if pay to win but otherwise its a pretty balanced game and if you put in the time you can be number one without spending much money at all.
Good, but one fatal flaw.
by LiquidFurby on 2018/03/26 23:42
The graphics and sounds are quite pleasant. I really love the feel of this game overall, but one thing may stop me from playing very quickly... Hear me out, I’m not anti-in app purchases. In this game some items and cosmetics cost Starbucks. Starbucks are a currency you can either buy or watch ads to get. That’s perfectly fine. HOWEVER... there are two issues: 1. The ads are very rare and you have to spend quite a while just staring at space and unable to do anything else because you can’t see inside your ship while waiting on space balloons to fly by to tap and watch ads. Purchases in this game range from $150 space bucks to thousands. One ad grants you 3 space bucks. (which is what you’ll usually have in a couple logins throughout your day, maybe two ads) 2. With ads being so rare, and purchases being so expensive and absurdly time consuming to grind, it’s important that they actually reward you what they promise. I’ve encountered quite a few instances where I will watch an ad and not get the tiny reward of three space bucks. If I’m going to have to watch about 700 ads to get one mediocre ship, I’d expect each ad to actually award me something. That’s really disheartening. My recommendation: fix the ad rewards and add a daily login bonus that goes up each day the more consecutive days you login, at least up to 30, to keep your player-base happy and active.
Great Unique Game
by Imploding Ninja Waffle on 2019/09/25 04:23
It’s a decent concept with decent execution. Ship l designing is fun, plus the concept of creating your own simple AI for other players to fight is amazing! The missions are an interesting way to do a sorta daily task type thing, but they can be a little boring at times. My biggest issue is that the time to build escalates very quickly. The price to build is fine the whole way through. I also wish that all the interesting stuff wasn’t only easily achievable through the special in game currency that every game has. It’s not incredibly difficult to get, but all the coolest stuff is way to expensive to ever hope to save for. The majority 99.9% of players won’t ever see any of it. I’m ranked something like 65,000 out of 5,500,000 players, and I certainly couldn’t ever hope to unlock the cool stuff. Anyways, most games are like that, so whatever. The rest of the game is great.
Love this game but I have to ask
by Every where on 2018/09/16 18:47
I agree with everyone saying this is a good game it really is all but there is one thing I have to is there a way to get snyies parts (if your confused it’s a quest you get at the start and you get an ai head and sorry if I spelled the real name wrong) I’m just asking if there’s a better way to get them besides the merchant guy and if there is already in the game can you tell me ok besides that this is a really good game Edit:so I found another problem I bought some star bucks but they didn’t show up I was supposed to have 532 star bucks by now but it still says I have 32 not only that but I tried to sell some stuff for minerals but when I collected them I was still left with the amount I had can you please fix this problem besides that I still love this game
Great game, reminds me of an MMO FTL
by zatysw on 2020/06/14 19:21
The game is well put together. Takes the best of the MMO style phone games, where players can interact with you by means of pvp and trade, while taking the best of games like Fallout’s Vault manager and base building games. The Pay to win is there, but only in skipping game time. If you want to actually play the game, there’s nothing stopping you from being completely F2P and enjoying it. You can pay to get to higher points on the leaderboards quicker, but so far in a few days of play time I haven’t encounter a P2W encounter that ruins the gameplay. It’s a great time killer and a good way to distract yourself for a few minutes at a time, even though you can sit there for hours and micromanage everything and get the best ship layouts and crew organization. Good for all types of players.
Great Game. And support actually resolved problems
by rpg-lover on 2017/10/31 04:09
Great Game! Its starts easy and simple then becomes more complex as you progress in the game. It get challenging to keep you interested. Great and supportive community from both alliances and piblic chat. It is not perfect and you may encounter bugs. But I give a compliment to the developers who are working hard to not only fixing the bugs but listening to the players input. I was not expecting such a quick response to my problem yesterday. This game is very addictive and would also suggest to try the free trial subscription membership. I love it soo much thay I decided to keep the subscription. I would really suggest to try the free trial to see it for yourself. Just rember to cancel it a day before if you do not want it. Give it a shot. You will not regret it :)
FTL with options
by Your Lord and Master, Foamy on 2018/09/10 06:15
For those familiar with the old FTL game it’s basically that but with more options. You get to choose what rooms go where and assign crew to rooms to boost productivity and repair. Less praying for RNGesus to give you the best weapons / crew / events to build up and instead it’s more progressive. Similar combat style ship to ship with the added final fantasy feel to crew combat with more than just pummel till u have to run away. Still early stages but looking forward to higher level ship hull and options to see how strategic it becomes. The 8bit graphics are fun for the old-timey feel but would have liked more current generation rendering. (Just a bit picky there and it’s just personal preference) overall highly pleased and expecting to be in trouble for the time I spend on it soon.
Lots of waiting
by Skindewd on 2019/01/31 20:21
This game honestly hits the main problem with games now days, the over complicated nature of the game. Now days phone games are too complicated to actually get into or too simple to keep playing. You’d think the low graphics would mean less quality but I quite enjoy the graphics over usual game graphics today. Your phone also uses less battery playing this game as a result! However if there’s one thing I could change it would be either make the upgrade times quicker, or allow us to use the rooms being upgraded in battle. For example the lasers or shields are un-useable while they are being upgraded. Basically one or the other would be fine. However if you wanna go ahead and do both be my guest!
Pretty neat but pretty unstable and punishes you for it
by Delta_Angelfire on 2020/03/07 20:31
The game, when functioning as intended, is pretty fun. However at least once and sometimes multiple times per day there will be an “XML error” or a “Syncing Data” screen that never ends or even just a black screen that never fixes itself. And that’s not counting all the reward screens that say you got something and then it never appears in your inventory. Every time it happens you lose anything good you just got and it assumes you were destroyed so you’re locked out of missions for the next 10 minutes to 1 hour depending on your level (the higher you are the worse it gets). An intense pain and every time you think you finally got lucky and found a good target you just barely beat, the game just rips it away from you. It’s extremely frustrating and unpredictable and there’s no in game support, only a button that tries to open your mail app and doesn’t work either.
Great Game, but I have some suggestions
by secorin on 2018/08/09 21:25
I got this game when it first came out and I have put a lot of time into it. I really love the strategy aspect of the game, especially the complications of having to periodically sacrifice a room depending on your current focus. I have restarted many times due to frustration with my choices of how to spend my starbux and what upgrades to spend my resources on, and therefore I am not as good of a player as I could have been. I love the gBay feature, but I think that it would be greatly improved if you added the function of being able to change your listings, such as the prices or being able to remove the listing. I like the idea of star-bases, but it is really hard for an up and coming fleet to build one, and to get access to a star base with a starbux printer, you either have to have played for a long time and have a high level ship, or look like you have exceptional potential for becoming a good player. Otherwise the popular bias is against and alliance affiliations that do really well like NOD and ZAKI will not accept you into them. I am currently in NOD enlightenment, but the only way that I got in was because I had a friend on the inside that approved my application. Best regards, ~Secorin Secundis
An amazing twist on the mobile mmorpg style.
by TKRS679 on 2018/04/25 19:43
This game is an, again, amazing twist on the mobile mmorpg style: build a base, fort, etc. and defend it from other players. Simple. This puts a twist on that, letting the battles be interactive and require lots of strategy. You need to make quick decisions to keep your ship from... sinking? Anyways, the game doesn’t actively force or annoyingly push micro transactions into your face, rather (how it should be) give you a little boost, to get past grind-y parts. (this seems to begin around lvl 7/8 in Starships) this game can keep you busy if you can pull of successive victories, which if you pick your targets carefully, can happen. Overall, this game is fun and deserves a little bit of time. PS: Always defend your Reactor rooms. Trust me.
More than meets the eye
by Red Atlas on 2017/11/29 21:11
So Im not really a huge fan of strategy/turn based games (other than pokemon or less intricate final fantasy games). Im also not really a huge fan of pay to win games or mico-transactions (unless it’s just cosmetic). Nevertheless I decided to give the game a try anyways because it seemed pretty unique compared to other app games. I like this game a lot; it’s very well put together. I love the art style, and how intricate and deep the game really is. The pay to win/microtransaction aspect isn’t so bad as other games I’ve played, and it helps a tremendous deal that you’re not bombarded with ads. The PvE aspect caught me off guard, I expected the game to be just PvP. I hope that as time goes by they make the PvE more in depth. Maybe have more ship battles with npc’s that give good exp instead of solely relying on PvP and working out to lvl up your crew. One small thing though is that I kinda dont like that the factions are cosmetic only. In my opinion it doesn’t make sense that you can attack other players or even npc’s in the same faction as you. I think it would make the game more interesting if you could only attack players in different factions, or maybe give the factions unique traits other than looks. Perhaps even add more factions as time goes by
Pleasantly surprised
by RundownPear on 2019/08/07 17:44
I kept getting ads for this game so eventually I broke and just downloaded it and wow, I was pleasantly surprised. Feels like a mix of FTL and Star Trek Trexels. It’s awesome to customize a ship and it’s free, use the programming system to make it an autonomous vessel of war, and create fleets and pool your resources to make a starbase. It does have its flaws, mainly building time. If you thought clash of clans had longboard building times wait until you play this. It took 1 week to upgrade from my class 7 to my class 8 starship. Definitely the biggest flaws. Would love some more depth in the PVP such as 2v2 or 3v3 along with sometime of fleet war similar to clan wars in clash. Another interesting mechanic is the market where you can list items for sale which helps with earning $ more rapidly. Very good game if you can overlook its flaws. 8/10
It can be so much better!
by ShadowReaper4158 on 2018/07/30 04:39
The game is great! It has fun gameplay, simple mechanics, and nice pixel graphics. The game is amazing, except for some major and somewhat annoying flaws. For instance, it takes so long just to make upgrades. The amount time for these upgrades turns an incredible strategy mmorpg into a a tedious waiting game. It completely breaks the flow the game by making you wait for something as small as upgrading your guns instead fighting other ships. I mean who is willing to make 4 days just to upgrade your ship from a lv 5 to a lv 6. The only way for this game to be fun is to a ton of starbux so you wouldn’t have to wait so much. Maybe if you had made the waiting time shorter I would’ve given a better review. Also, although this may seem a bit of minor suggestion, but I would appreciate it if you could make the customization for the captain a little more in depth.
Needs a lot of work.
by StreetcornerNinja on 2019/01/22 14:30
Instructions and flavor text aren’t scrollable so you miss half the story. No tutorial for using items or entering combat. In fact, the last two missions of the tutorial are essentially just the tutor hitting on you. Ship building is fun for two weeks and then a cash grab. Daily missions are either too easy and not worth doing or beyond your ability starting. Sometimes the daily mission is “lol nothing happened” with no reward. I have yet to find a “weaker opponent” while searching through PVP. As you unlock rooms, you have to search online to see how they work. The only thing that seems to work correctly are the ad links. I plan on deleting this game and trying out some of the advertised ones. Unless you are ready to spend hundreds of real dollars, this game is a waste of time. Unless you like chasing your tail by watching the same 5 ads over and over again.
Needs some fixing.
by EpicBombo_046 on 2020/10/24 14:22
Pixel Starships is a great game, but it has some errors. People don’t have infinite email addresses. You can’t make another account with the same email, and that is a really bad feature. Some people may want to restart like me because they just downloaded it again, but can’t because they can’t restart without registering. Like, why? Is there a reason they can’t use the same email, or can’t begin a new story without one? And also, I used my brother’s and sister’s email to restart several times after messing up my story, and now I had to use my school email to register and restart. I thought I would be fine now, but seriously! You can’t even use the market without registering. Again, WHY? What is the purpose of doing this? Does this protect anything? Please fix this email thing so I can play the game.
Expand the market
by GhostImmunity on 2019/02/11 05:24
I love this game! I got my girlfriend on it, and many of her friends as well. A lot of mine are on it too, it’s a really good game. The battling is great, and there is very much content. Although, I feel that Gbay should be expanded upon. In my honest opinion, the game would take a huge step forward with something along the lines of stocks were to appear. I’d love to be able to invest in something, maybe along side my friends, even. I so strongly think that there should be more ways to earn Starbux, specifically. I know it’d defeat the whole “Pay-To-Win” thing, like I know the point is for us to buy Starbux, but honestly man I can’t get over how cool a giant behemoth cash creating corporation fleet would be. Strongly consider man, please!
Golden crap.
by Halo Elite Girl on 2019/03/27 10:58
Art style and music was great. Sorry this game seemed to have more potential, but like others said...it’s a PAY TO WIN. Once you reach especially level 8-9 winning PvP matches are hard, having to keep messing around with weapons and the AI of your crew. Even with immunity to help you “Avoid” hostile PvP matches....you still get attacked...sometimes even when your shield is upgrading! You can lose sooooo many resources and trophies just by 2 PvP matches. Kinda have to pick your battles. Also, the community can be TOXIC. Avoid chat new users if you can. I made some good friends and there, but the game just wasn’t enough to keep me around. I got tired of struggling trying to upgrade stuff, and crew.....and not really getting the full enjoyment of the game like when I was a lower level. Disappointed I eventually deleted it. Maybe in the future I’ll come back to it....but that won’t be for a loooooooong time.
Old tech dose not mean obsolite
by Shado Dragon X on 2018/01/30 03:14
So far I’m enjoying this game. Especial as my ship gets stronger and bigger. Couple of things I think will add to this game, 1) The ability to name your ship. Every time the new enhanced ship is done being built there should be a prompt asking you what do you want to name your new ship. 2) The ability to expand your personal fleet.. Maybe start with small support ships and work your way up the same like with the main ship. It would be fun to see them moving along side your main flagship. It would make the whole ship to ship combat a little more interesting. Once you have the -AI thing- down most of your ships can act on their own.. So you don’t have to worry about managing them all.
Great game 10/10
by ProfCode on 2019/07/15 18:20
I love this game and everything about it, I’m bad a writing reviews, but I can argue and rant better than any other. I keep seeing people who are upset about waiting times and pay to win stuff. This game has long waiting times because the game isn’t meant to be played for hours on end. Your supposed to come in and check on everything do some quests and battles and then upgrade things and wait for them to finish. Stop getting upset saying you have to pay to win when you are making a choice to buy those things. Get some patience and wait for things to finish. If anything this game is teaching an important lesson. Things don’t come to you immediately.

Too pay to win
by Darth Vader131313 on 2018/11/05 04:42
I loved this game when i first started, characters are fun and the ship combat reminded me alot of Faster Than Light. I probably spend about $100 total on the game and I played for months. When you reach the higher ranks, the game becomes impossible to do anything. Everyone else spends a thousand dollars i guess to have a crew of all legendary people or a full ship of zombies that board you and kills your whole crew. I probably win about 1 out of every 10 fights against lower tier enemies. Even if you manage to be successful somehow in combat, you better be prepared to wait a week before you can do anything while you upgrade vital parts of your ship. Dont waste your time with this game unless you plan on spending a thousand dollars to stay competitive.
Catchy, but fundamentally unbalanced.
by Automcdonough on 2018/10/09 15:17
I’ve been playing for 3 years now, the upgrades and progression is addicting. But in this entire time there have been underlying balance issues in the reward system which reward attacking lower targets, and don’t reward a “fair fight” nearly as much and incur repair time penalty. This causes players to lose on purpose until they find easier targets, turning the entire PvP structure upside down. A myriad of problems stem from this, some of which get address and some get ignored, but it’s treating only the symptoms. This massively unbalanced game problem is completely ignored by devs while they work on new features. Also they have an incredibly high tolerance to people using bots and other exploits, some of which get a slap on the wrist but none have been banned. Even without this, it is possible for some players to play for 16hr straight to great advantage, which is unusual for mobile game to allow such disparity. They regularly drop politically incorrect characters. The track record for bugs in updates is also quite bad. There is nearly always a problem with the UI or brokenly unbalanced number somewhere when an update hits. With these things in mind, I must advise that you do not get sucked into this game. At least not until PvP is shiny-side-up, which considering the “this is fine” attitude could be a while.
Promising Game BUT...

So this game is really interesting when you first start out. After playing for hours upon hours and leveling my ship along with my crew, It has become difficult to do anything that progresses you. The NPC battles are usually fair but at level 10 with your ship and your crew levels SO SLOW that its impossible to upgrade and level them. I think my highest level guy is a level 22 and my lowest is like 12 with 15 men on my ship. I am put up against ships at the same level but all the crew is level 40. EVERY battle it seems. How does one progress in this every battle scenario. I would suggest playing and keeping your ship at level 5 or 6 and just play that. Anything hire you will find frustration and NOT fun. I only invested 8 dollars so I don’t feel too bad. If they fix a lot of balancing stuff then perhaps I would recommend this game. I hope it does become successful but they still have a long way to go.
Good potential, but flawed
by S P A N K L E on 2020/05/28 19:51
The game is built on a good concept, even if it does take heavy inspiration from FTL, which is by all accounts a much better game. I believe that the developers can make this game both fun and successful. There are just a few things currently holding it back: - The game constantly freezes and crashes on my phone, which is an iPhone X. I can only imagine how much worse this problem is on less advanced devices. - The broken English text hurts the overall experience. I suggest that the developers hire an English major or something just to proofread the text before they put it in the game. - The tutorial / assistant character uses very obvious text-to-speech for her dialogue, which is super odd. She doesn't even need to have a voice; people can just read her dialogue. - Other reviews have described the pay-to-win aspects of the game; I don't need to go in depth about them. The developers should just charge $0.99 or $1.99 for the game and make their money that way, instead of having microtransactions. Despite all of this, however, I still have to admit that I have had some fun with the game. That's why I'm hopeful that the devs can turn it around and make a better product.
Awesome!

Pixel Starships is really great, it’s fast to level up, when you gain materials and do its very noticeable as many things happen at the same time, making you think you’ve done a lot of progress (which you have). This game obviously needs some work around the edges, such as you cannot scroll down descriptions of items on mobile (I play on iPad). Sometimes matchmaking can be a little broken with everybody being ‘barren’ or ‘poor’ (meaning how much resources they have) I wish it would tell us an exact amount of how much of each resource we will get like the notorious Clash of Clans, not saying this game is coping it though. This game is similar but has it’s a new look on things, one of the biggest limited space. I really love this game.

Tried this game for 2 months. Uninstalled. Never looking back. Great concept, but the execution is awful. An average of once a day your game will freeze while trying to start a mission or outright crash. The best part is it will still count toward your very limited mission counts outside of PvP (which offers almost no xp). For such a simple game, it crashes way too much. That and the only active players on this very, very small community are already maxed and will raid you constantly the moment you get past a certain level with characters that have 3 times as much health as yours, making resource retention impossible. Shields don’t even work as I was frequently raided 3 times in a matter of minutes even though you’re supposed to have a shield after being defeated in a defense. Basically, the game is nothing but a long chain of sync errors.
A fun casual game.
by Tmaro23325 on 2019/04/06 00:33
My only complaint is that it is very easy to get banned from chat. All that needs to happen is several people report you at once for any reason or no reason and suddenly you can’t even ask a question in public or fleet chat. First for 20 minutes. Then forever. And the fact that a public chatban also means a fleet chat ban is ridiculous too. The fact that you must report someone in order to block them is also silly. Maybe someone’s just talking nonstop about my little pony and I don’t care for that? What, I’m going to report them for talking about their favorite cartoon? Overall I think the chat system and response systems could use an overhaul so they’re not so needlessly heavyhanded. Chat is a big part of the game and excluding people from it because a few people were offended is not the way to go. Notice how I didn’t mention anything else? It’s because the game itself is amazing and if you haven’t downloaded it you absolutely should. Nothing beats being able to destroy a superior starship using intelligent targeting. This is literally what Kirk trained on to defeat Khan.
Intricately Phenomenal

Pixel Starships has every aspect I’ve loved from the handful of childhood games I’ve played. Not to mention the detailed lore and statistics that makes this game so enticing. I’ve been playing for only a few hours, but I feel the need to write a review already. The gradual increase in information from the tutorial to ship upgrades is perfect for beginners. I also found it interesting how players vs player gameplay uses the same system from Star Trek. The player directs energy from different weapons and defenses on the ship to defeat the enemy ship. If you have a few hours of time, I urge you to consider trying out Pixel Starships.

Every game has some good points, even great ones if they put in effort. This is a critical issues summary: The tournament in this game has won by the same fleet every month for the past year. They are very generously rewarded for this. Rapid platform expansion has left the game vulnerable to people botting via an emulator, they intend to expand further onto steam. The crafting system, for a max level player, takes 1 month to produce 1 top tier module. Expect to need about 30. The training system for crew is Rng based. Expect to erase crew training and attempt rerolling for better stats at a great premium currency cost. Crew ability’s are frequently useless, don’t get crew that has ultra dismantle or system hack. The ships are not created equally, and nothing aside from shape makes the ships unique. The Ai system which starts out as the highlight of the game, is missing many elements that allow for precise ship control in battle. The developers for this game, though they created a great game, are no longer making meaningful development on this game. Their most recent content expansion have been reusing in game mechanics and making them slightly more powerful. If any of these critical faults change I will gladly change this review.
Tournaments rigged beyond your wildest dreams
by Pascel on 2020/03/25 04:30
The number 1 team is always the same one. They get around 100x more reward than the #2 team, so you’re basically doomed if you can’t be #1. Be ready to spend way more than you should trying to get there. Game doesn’t even encourage fun competition, because attempting to usurp the old champ is beyond impossible. How to beat a team that gets tens or hundreds of thousands of US Dollars worth of IAPs rewarded to them. I loved the game until I realized it was impossible to actually ge rewarded unless you beat them, which isn’t going to happen. Go buy a real game on steam that you can enjoy a EQUALLY with other players and not be at an infinite disadvantage. It’s like a high school basketball team going against a sponsored NBA team. Not even a fair or fun fight. Thanks for saving me wasted time by realizing how hopeless true progress is.
Good game
by Stewla on 2017/10/09 12:16
If you like the various kinds of kingdom/city/garden/farm/whatever sims, then you should enjoy this starship sim. This game also includes PvE & PvP, which will eventually play into your ship build and layout. The game appears to be in fairly stages, not in a glitchy, incomplete way but in a "has enormous potential" kind of way, that gives me good reason to feel optimistic about the future. While building and upgrading eventually start taking large chunks of time, the PvE & PvP elements provide the player with active scenarios to occupy their present time. So if you enjoy the Simulation, Strategy, or RPG genres I would definitely recommend giving this game a try!
Best free game on the store
by Cyberlord5345 on 2019/11/28 07:25
For being free with minimal advertisements and reasonable wait times I would say this a true treasure trove. The only thing I think the devs could improve is adding more of the pistol fights (only had one) and add planetary exploration also a major flaw is you shouldn’t have to completely destroy enemy ship just kill all crew members or disable all weapons making it impossible to attack the only reason I voice this concern is come of the battles can be very drawn out as you slowly wait to chunk down there hull. More alien companions would also be appReciated other than that truly am amazing game with a great style and good pace !
One of my favorite games!
by Emerald Kingz Animates on 2019/12/01 03:58
I’ve been playing this on my iPad and just got it on this phone I’m typing in right now and it been a great game so far. Now better then Minecraft though but still super good. (: A idea they can add :) I wish they can have a squad and defeat other online players and have a leaderboard of who has the best score, and they can work together and name their own team name. Then people can view and visit their squad ship. This game is awesome and I hope their are other cool features in the future in this game. Review written by Cookie ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Money hungry at the expense of fun
by Supernova752 on 2019/04/03 15:26
This game has an amazing premise, and is similar to the great pc game FTL. However, this is the most money hungry game I’ve ever played. Main issue: Combat is the best part, but upgrading your guns and shields can take multiple days. Upgrading these renders them useless while being upgraded, so it can be days of waiting before entering combat again. And there’s always something that needs to be upgraded. The game would be fine if things worked normally while being upgraded. Add on top of that a large amount of bugs, key areas not working - for instance upgrading your crew has been broken for days now. Also, unlike most games you can’t spend day $1 if you want to, $5 is the minimum purchase for micro transactions. Just awful, be less greedy devs, making money is fine but not when it gets in the way of gameplay.

There is online chat, friend requests, and DM options on a global platform—and no way to monitor any of it. It’s an easy way for predators to target and solicit kids, which happened to mine. The Age 9+ rating is deceiving and wrong. It is NOT safe for kids!
Fun game

Pretty Good Game
by ifiofchhcDG on 2021/01/14 19:52
Very addicting, only complaint is that it’s a bit hard to start out. Took me a while to realize doing pvp rather than the missions that it gave you, which were too hard for my beginning ship, was better for resources.
Beautiful
by Super critic dude on 2021/01/14 11:25

Fun game! Slowly adds complexity that is not overwhelming. Very useful AI system that some choose not to use, but totally worthwhile to! Wish it was a tad bit easier to arm your crew, but I guess that’s part of the longevity of the game.

Account support
by Boi63787 on 2020/12/16 07:55
Just wanna say that they are amazing at help players with problems, i had two major bugs/incidents that happened and when I was stuck and reached out to the support staff i got both of the problems resolved within 3 hours(which is pretty good considering how many random reports they must get) 10/10 would recommend at least trying this game to see if you like it😀👍🏻
Excessive handholding

Aside from the obessive handholding in this game with the tutorial and the endless arrows, I like the concept.

Sci-fi awesomeness

Great game.
More lifelike
by TypicalType! on 2020/02/06 22:49
Overall this game is perfect.

I love this game and everything about it, I’m bad a writing reviews, but I can argue and rant better than any other. I keep seeing people who are upset about waiting times and pay to win stuff. This game has long waiting times because the game isn’t meant to be played for hours on end. Your supposed to come in and check on everything do some quests and battles and then upgrade things and wait for them to finish. Stop getting upset saying you have to pay to win when you are making a choice to buy those things. Get some patience and wait for things to finish. If anything this game is teaching an important lesson. Things don’t come to you immediately.
Legally awesome 👍👍👍👍

Such a good game I have had this for four years now and unlike all the other space games I play it is not pay to play. So first of all I like how you can choose and be awesom rich or smart and stuff so cool the best game I have ever played second whoever made the music is so awesome 👍👍👍 I love combat the only thing I would fix is the qutarian raiders I can’t beat any of the qutarian raiders other than that the music the gameplay the choices awesome but still has some bugs also I would add some new things like crew relationships the choice to join the admiralty but the only thing I really wanna see is relationships between the crew pls relationships
Promising Game BUT...
by Tinottt on 2018/11/20 14:59
So this game is really interesting when you first start out.
Awesome!
by ItzDanielYoBoi on 2017/11/10 02:36
Pixel Starships is really great, it’s fast to level up, when you gain materials and do its very noticeable as many things happen at the same time, making you think you’ve done a lot of progress (which you have).
