Description
metro helps you find your way in the public transportation systems in more than 400 cities around the world. One application for all your trips: download the cities you need and search your route by subway, bus, tram, railway... (depending on cities). NO network connection is required after you have installed the cities. Find the best route from your current location and check the map of the surroundings from within the program (in main cities). Transportation networks evolve frequently, so does metro! We provide weekly updates, including the latest changes. For a few cities, you even have access to data taking into account temporary disruptions, monitored day to day. Don't forget that metro is the result of a collective effort: our data can be kept up to date only with your help!
You D Best!

One of the oldest most effective transit apps EVER!!! I first came to it when the Palm i705 came out; this app been every single mobile device I’ve had. I Always forget to donate to the developer, My Bad. Best of all: as as you download your appropriate maps to this app, you won’t need internet, map files are usually less than half an mp3 file. Four stars on account of the GPS feature never working and that it is difficult to find in apps stores across all platforms, even when through their website. Thank you!
Loved this metro app or ages—my #1 favorite travel app!
by Trvlgrl11 on 2019/07/07 20:03
I too, have used this app since the PALM days and there are no words to describe how helpful it’s been to me during my travels to Europe. I recommend it to all my friends and thank the developers for making it as much a part of my travels as my passport!
Super helpful
by Melmelx3 on 2017/12/31 03:10
First time writing a review (to my knowledge) because this app is so helpful. I wouldn’t have survived living in Japan without this app. It helps me get wherever I want and change trains without getting lost
Never lets me down
by Jallioop on 2017/11/25 14:43
With MetrO I’ve been able to navigate subway systems around the world. Works like a charm offline, and is always correct. It makes getting around on an unknown subway system easy as pie. Love this app!
Awful
by 7Z7 on 2017/08/28 09:31
Just give me a map. I don't want to enter in addresses. I want a map to actually see the system. Worst transit app ever.
Best app, and it works in many cities.
by ThatDwayne on 2017/05/19 02:34
I've used MetrO for several years, and it is my go-to app for navigating public transportation when I travel. I'm in dozens of different cities every year, and metro allows me to travel like a Local. I've tried a number of different apps, as well as services built into the mapping apps on my phone, but nothing beats MetrO.
MetrO the BEST...
by Mister Endara on 2016/10/22 13:23
As simple as had stayed I have benn using MetrO way back on the PALM TREO and then from my first BLACKBERRY all the way up to my current iPhone 6.... Currently in Buenos Aires, I decided NOT to rent a car, as all my visits were within 4 miles from my AirBB apartment... and having a "Subte" outside my street door I downloaded my iOS copy of the old faithfull MetrO... and it took me back 12 years to my days in Paris.... Keep it SIMPLE as it is... no need for maps or graphics... simply from poin A to point B with the little steps and all.... THANKS MetrO !!!
Works Lovely

I love this app since many years ago. Still working, still updating: a must have.
Great app!
by Marcozandrini on 2016/03/20 15:23
Get this app! Just returned from 9 days in Paris. The city's metro system goes almost everywhere in the city. This app made using the Paris metro a snap. Absolutely a vacation necessity.
Thank you for this app!
by FCarnegi on 2016/03/07 05:02
In short, Metro has helpful transit information on a lot of cities worldwide. I used this in 4 cities in Europe and I am really glad I had this. Sure, maybe there are some stops missing from here but still, if you don't have an internet connection or you want to save data while traveling, this app is for you. Tip: you need to know the stop name in order to make use of this (unless the stop is a landmark). I used an offline map app (also free) with public transport stops to look up the stop names.
Awesome app for the traveler!
by Scoco23 on 2015/10/18 01:33
I've been using this app for ages and absolutely love it! Having one app that helps me navigate metro systems all over the world is fantastic. I've used it all over Asia and Europe and it has never failed me. If you travel a lot, you need this app!
Great app!
by M&MHG on 2015/07/18 11:56
Been using a version of app for years, way before there was an iPhone with apps. Has never let me down, there is plenty of cities covered, and the price us unbeatable!
Incomplete
by saysay88 on 2015/07/14 22:43
Recently, when I tried planning a trip between Bart and Caltrain, it would specify that all Caltrain stops were closed in the middle of the day in a Friday...? What is with that? It's also missing most of the muni system, and it's not as useful as before because it refused to open when I was not online, so I couldn't use it! Please fix as soon as you can!
Its the Best ..

Improve on some databases and get 5 stars
by Patddfan66 on 2015/01/19 04:45
I wish the San Francisco database included the entire AC transit, SamTrans, County Connections, VTA, Muni, and Shuttle services! Once those are added (along with departure times from the Caltrain schedule), it earns 5/5 stars, and gets my recommendation to Caltrain staff!
Perfect
by Alexoiu on 2014/12/27 10:43
Even though the user interface isn't the latest, this little perfect app is very powerful and smart. I've forgot for how many years and all the destinations in which this simple app saved my life! Going from A to B in a strange city haven't been easier thanks to this amazing team that updates the maps very often!!!
Tourist In A Big City
by Stubaggs on 2014/12/26 23:14
Helpful to find the nearest train, direction to head and where to change. Just remember to sync the maps to avoid need for data. Great port of an equally useful Palm Pilot application.
Basically useless
by Hum99 on 2014/10/07 16:46
This app is confusing. Also it does not give any time tables. Also, the estimated time does not seem to be accurate.
Great app!
by Nowwut on 2014/08/23 00:15
This is a must-have for anyone who travels & uses public transportation. I've been using it since it was only available for Palm products.
BEST APP EVER
by TooCliche on 2014/07/06 16:19
this is hands down the best app I have ever used. I am currently traveling abroad and this app has been an absolute god-send. You don't need wifi to use it, you just need to know your point A and point B. Let me repeat: YOU DONT EVEN NEED SERVICE TO USE THIS APP! This is amazingly helpful when traveling abroad without phone use, or when underground and without service. If you do have service, you can have it find your current location and it will direct you to the nearest station. In large cities, like London or Paris, your "point A/B" could even be a monument/landmark, so you don't have to figure out which stop is the closest. It tells you which train to take and which direction and where to change to a different line. It will give you different routes, which one is the fastest, or which has less changes, and you can tap on the specific train to see how many stops it is. It takes a few minutes to figure out how it works and what all the symbols mean, but once you do, it's so so so amazing. I seriously cannot endorse this app enough.
GET. THIS. APP.
by Rolltide00 on 2014/06/30 09:12
I have traveled tons internationally but this app rocked my world. Amazingly simple app that changed everything. You will never get lost with app! Stop looking like a noob and a tourist, starring at maps and DL this app!
Useless
by kidinacandystore415 on 2014/06/14 13:44
Not a god sign that it hasn't been upgraded since fall of 2013. I think the developer gave up on it rather than fix it's myriad problems. Bad interface, no instructions, just plain worthless. I've been trying to plan a route between Seattle Airport and down town and the app keeps giving me an error message that the starting point, the airport, is closed. Ummm... might want to tell that to the 10 planes that have landed since I started trying to use this app. Removing it from my phone as soon as I send this review.
Easy and Helpful
by PuckColorado on 2014/06/14 12:38
This really helped me in Paris.... I even helped a lot if others with it. The only thing was I had to learn to shut off bus options since I didn't want that. But once I figured that out, smooth sailing.
Terrible interface
by memememememememememememee on 2014/06/04 13:26
Trying to use it to plan a trip from the airport to my hotel. Except I have absolutely no idea how to find the airport as a starting point in this app. I typed in every variation of "airport", and it's name I could think of, but It just doesn't exist in his app. I could also try selecting it on a map ... Except there is no map. This app is completely unusable.

I use this app when I explore Japan. Easy and convenient to use. I recommend!
Excellent app!
by Tony 121 on 2014/01/16 22:38
No need for a data connection makes this app invaluable! I use it in various places where Internet access isn't available. I just punch in my current subway or train station and where I need to go and this app always delivers. Many cities are available; this also a huge asset. Once you are familiar with the interface you'll never need another app for transit directions.
Useless
by dsgian on 2013/11/25 00:29
As stated by others App needs clear instruction and explanation of icons, routes, etc The app is so bad for my own city (nyc) to figure it out, cant imagine it in Tokyo or any where else where english is not main language .. Needs serious re-write
Great app!!
by Mrsmaryann on 2013/10/19 11:45
Traveled in Paris for the first time and never got lost once with this app. Use in combination with map to locate Metro stations you are traveling to/from. This app lists the end stations, which are a must to get on the right train going in the right direction, then just exit at your stop. You will save time/money using this app. Only 1.70 euro one way on local metro trains.

App is bewildering
by Skeptical_Observer on 2013/08/10 18:15
They need some type of instructions or tutorial on how to use this App. First time I tried it, I spent over 40 minutes trying to figure out how to use it the way the developers intended it to be used. In a new city, wanting to go from point A to point B, I'd like to know that I should take the XYZ line to point ABC and then transfer to the DEF line until I get to point FGH, where I transfer...etc. Please provide instructions so that travel challenged people like myself can use the App. The concept of the App is wonderful. The instructions not so much. Most Apps are intuitive. This one is not.
Thank you!

Unbelievably useful app
by pikoeri on 2013/01/26 21:13
On my first trip to Tokyo, I took a variety of tools with me in order to find my way around the city's train system. Maps, complex apps, and then a little piece of software called MetrO. I had never expected that not only would this app be as useful as it ended up being, but that I would only need it and nothing else. With a lot of other apps, they're about trying to shove complex maps or information onto a small screen. With MetrO, I get only what I actually need: clear and easy-to-understand directions on how to get from the station I'm at, to the station I want to be at. And, of course, because MetrO works offline, it's always there for me at times that other apps have no ability to be. I've now used MetrO for both visits to Tokyo and San Francisco, and it's never let me down. Such an amazingly helpful and convenient must-have tool when traveling. I appreciate that the app is free, but I'd easily pay money for it if it weren't.
Best travel app around!
by LANCEPHOTO on 2013/01/01 17:40
We travel A LOT and we use this app more than any other. It's perfect because it has every major city, gives you many alternatives and WORKS OFFLINE!!! It's never been wrong in the hundreds of times we've used it. It's become an essential part of our trip planning and we use it constantly to get around when we're traveling. And it's FREE! We LOVE this app and HIGHLY recommend it!
Absolutely amazing!
by Vtsaran on 2012/12/29 16:50
This app is just amazing considering that it is free. I don't know how you guys are keeping it up-to-date but thanks for this effort all the way. Very importantly, this app works very well with Voiceover screen reader for the blind. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
good work!

Best app by far for Paris metro & bus in finding best routes
by RandySea on 2012/11/19 17:29
Now that I've tried several and read reviews for more, this is THE ONE for Paris. I consider the gold standard of comparison to be the Ratp.fr website. "Best route based on a starting and ending address, considering metro and train or bus." You can enter a starting address and an ending address. The Ratp site will give you a best route. You also get choices of train or bus, and can choose a day and time to plan ahead. Finally, although this doesn't always seem to work, you can save your favorites. MetrO mimics the Ratp.fr website with all those choices. Plus, it can start at your current location if you have location services. One thing it does not do is give you train, metro, and bus together. Your choice is metro + train or metro + bus. The other is that it does not include timetables. If you are traveling extremely early or extremely late, you may want to check schedules elsewhere. Other Paris metro apps fail in many ways. The most common is that they basically force you to choose your metro stations yourself. Even if you put in an address or use location services, it's up to YOU then decide which metro station (from a provided list) you want to start from. That may result in your not getting the best route by a long shot. Where I stay in Paris, there are three stations close by. MetrO picks the best station for me depending on my destination. Another problem with other apps is that bus, train (RER), and metro are not integrated. MetrO isn't perfect. It will integrate bus & metro, or metro & train, but apparently not all three at once. Still, this is a very big improvement over other apps. I have crossed checked MetrO on several routes requiring changes with Ratp.fr. Its results match, although time estimates my differ slightly. Like Ratp.fr and most or all other apps, you can get a quick map around your start or end location. Finally, what an amazing deal - it's free! Note: In fairness, I have not been able to check out Kemto's app. It isn't clear from their website or reviews if it does what I consider the essential test: Best route based on addresses and including buses and trains.
Don't know what I'd do without it!
by LZ53 on 2012/11/18 18:02
This app is amazing for European travel. You can even enter your nearest metro station and popular destinations and it will give you directions. I have had less luck with it in the US (probably because our public transport isn't as good), but in Europe and South America it has been great.
Nice
by P@b1ito on 2012/11/01 14:22
Provides good info, at least for San Francisco and East Bay areas. The UI is confusion to use, still figuring it out.
Best App to Get Around
by LRCote on 2012/10/19 21:22
I started using this app on my Palm Treo, and thought it was good. My DH and I were visiting family in Tokyo, I had MetrO and he had something else. MetrO was so much better than what he had, he downloaded it before we went out the next day. Sure, it has some glitches. On one rail line it said to ride to the end and switch trains. But you have to exit the system and enter the next; if we got off one stop before the end we'd be able to transfer across a platform. My Treo is dying a long, slow death, but I've already downloaded MetrO for my new iPhone.
Great app for international travel!
by Jaxrevenge on 2012/10/11 18:21
You download the cities you are going to before you leave your country and you can access all the metro info available for that city on the app with no network connection. That means while you are underground you can still look at all the stops on the line you are on to validate you are going the right direction and on the right line underground. I've used it in New York, Los Angeles, DC, Madrid, and Rome. Soon to test in Japan in Tokyo and Kyoto!

I use it on my daily basis!
by Juanmacortes on 2012/08/19 01:00
This app helps me everyday to get everywhere I use it a lot and I love it! Highly recommended. Just to keep in mind: download the city traffic with Internet connectivity and wait until it full download. Then when you be online you have no problem to search routes.
Unusable
by DeficientAtLife on 2012/08/11 03:51
I downloaded this app because I was going on a three week trip to Europe. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed. First off, the type function for the search engine does not seem to be working. I'm sure it's just a bug, but it's kind of a huge one, that I feel should have been noticed and fixed immediately. I was hoping to see an update available at some point during my trip to fix the simple mistake, but over three weeks later and still nothing. I suppose if that's fixed then it might be a good app, but I have no idea, because I have been unable to use it.

Don't plan on using this app in Denver. You cannot input specific locations, only those within the app. Nowhere I needed to go was available. When I did pick 2 points 12 blocks apart the only route offered (I really feel for any tourist using this) suggested that I travel pretty much as far east as possible, then into a creepy suburb and then back across town to the destination that's only blocks north. Thank goodness I know the city. Had i been been in a strange land who knows how bad off I'd have been? Maybe it's just Denver that's shot, but this was not worth the time it took to download.
Maybe useful, not to me.
by Vatw on 2012/05/25 16:22
I'm sure there are some this app is for. To me there was too much going on. I wasn't ever sure if I was looking at the right route table or not. I guess if you need super detailed travel info this would be great, but being somewhat lost in a foreign land, this was too much going on at once for me to handle
Great App!

Overall helpful
by 3RunrRound on 2012/04/09 03:24
I just returned from sightseeing in Tokyo and Kyoto. Before downloading MetrO, I had a really hard time figuring out routes and stops by just studying the maps. MetrO made it incredibly easier. I had just 2 problems. From Kyoto Station to Otsu, MetrO listed the JR Hokuriku-Tokaida-Sanyo line. We couldn't find it anywhere in the maze that is Kyoto Station. We asked someone for help and was told to take the JR Biwak line. Perhaps it has been renamed? Also, we accidentally boarded the express train, not the local one, and found out it whizzed by Otsu without stopping.
Easy, informative and fun.
by racote on 2012/03/29 23:19
I have family in Tokyo and was puzzled by the vast and complex transportation system. On a recent visit my wife and I announced that we want to go around without assistance. This app made it easy. It is very comprehensive and includes most of the sites and landmarks you will want to see. The routes may not always be the fastest, but you won't get lost. The folks in Tokyo make it easy - the station names are in English as well as Japanese. If I may publicly make a couple of requests: I would like to see a way to save favorite routes and most used stops. Being able to indicate a station as "home" would be nice. Being from eastern Massachusetts I can attest to the general accuracy of the Boston information. All in all an excellent app.

I've used this app in London, Paris, Tokyo, Kyoto, Santiago, New York and Boston. I first learned about it and used it on a palm pilot, and now on an iPod. I was able to easily and effectively navigate the subways of every one of those cities without any glitches. Bravo!
Best app.

by Alfacruxis on 2011/06/18 14:44
The best off-line (and even better that some on-line) app for metro transportation. Has very useful POI locations and places other than just the metro stations, which in turn provides better guidance. Very useful (and important) direction on which metro line/branch you have to take. Accurate travel times, including the walking time to, between and from the stations. I bought 2 other paid apps for London and Paris metros, but ended using this one all the time. Don't waste money on any other app. Could have some improvements in the future, such as a integrated metro map, or better yet, a metro map over city map, but those are bonus features. Excellent work.
Superb and incredibly useful
by iPhonerarooni on 2011/06/18 02:12
If you travel a lot, this is a lifesaver. I've used Metro since my PalmPilot days and loved it from the start. I've used it all over the world and it's been a tremendous help in navigating public transportation systems. The transit maps are updated regularly and mistakes are corrected quickly. And it's free. What more can you ask for?
This app is a must if you are going to Europe
by zorbam on 2011/05/11 01:20
This is the best App I ever used for travel. I have been to 5 countries in EU, and the app never failed me. I even helped locals with directions using this App. You only need a local Map and this App and you will save Hours of searching for transportation and looking up schedules. It's free, it's the best
A travelers dream app!!
by Mongo_Beans on 2011/05/09 13:38
I have been using this app for over 3 years. It gets better and better, with more cities added all the time. Easy to use too!!
Very handy

Great app. It would be even better if it included maps.
Time schedules are really missing.
by Pan Robert on 2011/03/18 11:00
Nice app, has big potential. Just one crucial feature is missing - time schedules of public transport vehicles.

Travel like a native!
by Babzillaa on 2011/02/07 18:44
Just spent two weeks in Paris and this became our Oracle. We could navigate all over the city and never got lost. What a great app, especially for free! Wish it had a line preference selection, i.e I want to go to blank via line 3, but that's just gravy. A must for travelers!!
Love it!
by Alfonso_Cast on 2011/01/06 17:49
A traveler must have
It works great!
by LeeWashington on 2010/12/18 02:31
I just used this one in DC and it was great! I'd punch in where I was and the location of where I wanted to go and it would give me my route options. What was great about this one is I didn't need to know the actual subway stop, just something like 'Smithsonian' or White House. Very easy, very fast, super useable.
Invaluable for travel
by Tgrhwk on 2010/11/10 18:08
I just returned from a trip through several countries in Europe and this app was used nearly everyday. The interface allows for input of popular tourist stops or stops near your hotel. Navigating Paris, Rome, Vienna, and Munich was a breeze!
Great
by zhou1985 on 2010/10/15 16:13
Very useful! This month I travelled to Europe. And even I have metro map, it is not easy for foreigner to find correct path quickly. MetrO is so helpful! You just download the city's transport ahead and follow its instruction, you can arrive where you wanna go.
London great, Manhattan so-so
by Belden Fox on 2010/10/10 21:49
I used this app in London and it worked like a charm, even when planning trips that required National Rail connections. On the same vacation I used it in Manhattan and it avoided easy connections and mapped out routes that required walking a crosstown block from one station to the next (crosstown blocks in Manhattan are very long.) It seemed particularly loathe to have me connect at Columbus Circle. Very odd.
GPS for the rail transit user

Long time user on other platforms, it's one of my must-have travel apps.
Great
by Joe1017 on 2010/09/28 22:06
This is a great app! I just went to London, Paris, and Brussels and this app made getting around very easy. Another great thing about it is it does not need an Internet connection so you don't have to worry about data roaming charges. And it's free! If you are going to Paris and taking your iPhone, get this app!
Best app ever

Never lets me down
by Jallioop on 2017/11/25 14:43
With MetrO I’ve been able to navigate subway systems around the world. Works like a charm offline, and is always correct. It makes getting around on an unknown subway system easy as pie. Love this app!
You D Best!
by Laeiou on 2019/11/01 16:28
One of the oldest most effective transit apps EVER!!! Thank you!
Super helpful
by Melmelx3 on 2017/12/31 03:10
First time writing a review (to my knowledge) because this app is so helpful. I wouldn’t have survived living in Japan without this app. It helps me get wherever I want and change trains without getting lost
Awful
by 7Z7 on 2017/08/28 09:31
Just give me a map. I don't want to enter in addresses. I want a map to actually see the system. Worst transit app ever.
MetrO rocks, and keeps getting better
by ZogJones on 2010/07/11 14:40
This is one wicked cool app. It runs well and now supports mapping even better with this latest release. The beauty is that when you select any (and I mean any) metropolitan area, you usually get all interconnected modes of mass-transit (sometimes even Night buses and shuttle buses). As an example, the "San Francisco" download contains info for BART, Muni, Caltrain, VTA LIghtrail. Some cities even have their ferries added. I have use this app around the world on my old Palm and now my iPhone, and it just continues to get better. It has saved my bacon more times than I can count. Many thanks to the authors for this app getting ported to the iPhone. I'm not sure why all the negative ratings with no reviews, my guess is lame competitors are bashing it. Ignore them. It is a free app. Download it for yourself and try it out. If you travel for fun, you should get this app. If you travel for work...you NEED this app.
FINALLY!!!! It's Here and Fantastic!
by Angelyon on 2009/07/12 15:07
Along with Documents To Go, MetrO is FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY made it's way to the iPhone. A huge huge thunderous applause and surge of gratitude to the makes of MetrO. I've been following their blog and understand their initial balking at porting over MetrO to the iPhone. But with the encouragement of literally thousands of patrons and MetrO fans front all over they buckled down and delivered. I honestly can now consider my transition from my last smartphone to the iPhone complete with this app. I have used MetrO for years and it has come in handy numerous times in different cities, from San Francisco to Paris. Up until now I was literally lost without it! Eeek! Thank you Patrice and Frank for listening to your patrons and coming out with an iPhone version. You have won your friends over a thousandfold. Support them by going to their website!
Finally and Fantastic!
by Chase76 on 2009/07/14 07:47
This is a FANTASTIC app for those who travel regularly and tend to use public transportation. I began using MetrO 5 years ago when I had a Palm Treo. I have held onto my Palm Treo all these years (even without service) just to use this app. I have been following the progress of MetrO from the beginning and I am thrilled that it has finally hit the App store. Run, do not walk, and get this free fantastic app. This app would be great at a few dollars or more and it's even more amazing at free! Everyone who grabs this should remember it's always nice to donate to developers that put out quality products for free.
Flawless port of the Palm app
by kaszeta on 2009/07/12 16:03
Straightforward port of the Palm app. Excellent public transit planner, since unlike oh-so-many other apps, it has several decent features: 1. It caches data, so you don't need a Wifi or 3G connection to plan your travel, 2. It has data for just about every public transit system out there, and 3. It's free My only requests? 1. Could they get the London *day* buses integrated into the London schedule? The buses are often a faster solution than the Tube and trains. 2. Actual route maps would be good, 3. Integration with the maps application. But an outstandingly good initial iPhone app
A long-standing favourite app!
by Long-time User on 2010/05/07 14:46
I have used Metro for the last 10 years, starting with a Palm Pilot, then a Windows mobile device, a Blackberry and now the iPhone. Metro has always been a tremendous aid in my travels. Easy to use and very informative, and it gets better with each iteration. I am consistently amazed by and indebted to the authors who continue to add cities and update existing ones in a FREE application. If like me you find Metro useful send them a donation in recognition of their efforts. If you find gaps in the data for your city please contact the authors. I have found them to be very responsive and they depend upon users to keep their databases current. To summarize, if you plan to use public transport in the cities that you visit then you need this application. I know of no other application that covers the transportation networks of as many cities and as thoroughly as Metro does. Worth 5 stars and more.
Excellent Port
by DIGITALgimpus on 2009/07/12 15:33
I was a MetrO user when I had a Palm for many years. It's the only app that thus far I haven't found an iPhone equivilent. They have finally ported it over. It feels like an iPhone application but still retains the useful features of the Palm version. If you live or work in a city, or travel this is an essential application. It makes life so much easier to just enter your location and where you want to go and get a list of your travel options. At this price (free) you get way more than you paid for.

I've been waiting for this to get transferred over from the Palm OS. This app is THE best Subway/Metro app on the market! It has practically every city you'd ever go to, and it makes you feel like a pro navigating all the different transportation networks of the world. I felt naked NOT having this app when I switched from the Palm to the iPhone. I wish i had it when I was in Barcelona recently. It's packed full of tonns of useful info on transportation networks and tourist attractions. Best of all... It's FREE!!!!! I can't recommend this app enough!!!!!!
Improvements
by Messior Bubbles on 2010/05/02 16:21
This app would be SOo much better if they showed the times when the busses passed by a certain street. I am a frequent metro bus user and ever if I know where u need to go, it dosnt help me all that much if I don't know when the bus is Gina be there. I ask this to be improved because some buses they pass so infrequently that Im stuck there waiting for about an hour where as I could have taken another bus that passes more frequents had I known the time schedualed. Now I'm not saying this isn't a good app, I'm just saying it could be so much better.
At last MetrO for iPhone
by TSD04 on 2009/07/12 20:05
I have waited anxiously for Patrice to complete his development effort to enable MetrO's use on iPhone. And finally.....thank you Patrice.....that time has come. MetrO is one of those applications that once utilized becomes indespensible. I held onto my old trek 650 much longer than I otherwise would have because I did not want to lose access to MetrO. You will not find another more functional and capabile transport app. The fact that it is offerred for free is amazing. Patrice a paypal donation is headed your way. THANKS AGAIN!
Keep this app simple!
by jackson345 on 2010/07/15 05:02
Have used metro app in Paris for the last week. It is amazing. No more searching paper or poster maps for routes. Simply type in destination (has word-completion hints) and hit route button. My location feature works great. Press info button and it gives GPS coords and nearby metro stops and POIs. Also gives option to show google map (reqs data correction for map.) I have no recommended additions, please keep this app simple, developer.
Best app that doesn't require the Internet
by Mee Moo Penguin on 2011/09/04 14:29
This app is phenomenal. It has saved me on my trip to Europe. Worked awesome in Paris. This is the app u need. I used this on my iPod Touch and it was perfect. I love how u can download the entire city so u don't need to be connected to the Internet to view where u going. I love how u can see which stations u will pass to your destination, in case u r going the wrong way. I don't write reviews often, but this one of the best apps on my touch.
Finally a ubiquitous Metro App
by erayl on 2009/07/12 17:32
I've used this application on a Palm Pilot to travel the world for over ten years. When I moved to the iPhone, I missed this app more than any other because I could not find an adequate replacement. Well it's here now and is more convenient than ever! Any of the 400 cities can be downloaded in real time, and it can locate the nearest station to you for geographically supported metro systems. This is a must have app for the traveler.
Now for the iPhone--wonderful!
by Brenden777 on 2009/07/26 19:05
I have used this app since 1999 on my Palm. In fact, I kept my old Palm Edge just to use this app. The iPhone version is, of course, even better. I went anywhere I wanted in Tokyo, Paris and London without any fuss or hassle--it was like I knew the metro (and sometimes bus!) systems like the back of my hand; I felt like a native. Perfection. Now I can travel with only one device--my iPhone; my fanny pack is gone forever.
Saved my life in Europe

Very easy and very useful, helped me around every city, super acurate and a travelers must have! This app kept me from gettin lost and stranded various times, I never had to look at the metro map for anything! I love it! So worth it!

Better and more complete than any other Subway app in the app store or any platform for that matter
by sig7332 on 2009/07/13 20:43
It has been the best for many years now, comes from the palm platform, it has so much information from so many cities that is like the wikipedia of subway apps, no network connection required for daily usage, if you have the time please donate to the developer.
Better than ever

Been using this app on Palm since 2002. Happy to report that it is better than ever. Must have for anyone that travels. Just load up all your cities before you go so you don't have to worry about data charges. Also be sure to donate to this project. The money you save taking the London night bus over a mini cab just one time should go straight to these guys
Great Metro Guide
by jaredj74 on 2009/07/12 18:21
I loved this app when I had my palm pilot and used it for years in various cities. I've been waiting for it to come to the app store for the past year. I've bought other Subway guides, and they may be a little flashier, but for sheer volume of information MetrO can't be beat. It has 400 cities around the world that you can download and it is all free! Thanks so much for bringing it to the iPhone.
Unusable
by DeficientAtLife on 2012/08/11 03:51
I downloaded this app because I was going on a three week trip to Europe.
Limited, unpolished.
by Klobbernaut on 2009/09/30 16:14
-- I got this app after reading some of the rave reviews at the top but found it to be mediocre at best. I'm in LA an the app only covers SOME bus lines, mostly around central LA/downtown area (even that area is iffy - missing many stops and intersections) I'd give it the old "well at least it's free" but so's the iphone native MAPS, which is infinitly better by comparison. All you gotta do is tap the bus icon in Maps when routing directions, set an arrival or departure time and voilà - you're on your way. Don't want to use your data plan on the go? Do a little homework an take screenshots of your commute (maybe even an alternate route for safety) and there you are. This application needs work. A better user intrface, more coverage of the cities they do support, an easier-to-get to-map view and maybe automatic updates of the cities you've downloaded. Until then, it's a two, at best.
Excellent - Better than paid Apps.
by Alfacruxis on 2011/06/18 14:44
The best off-line (and even better that some on-line) app for metro transportation.

Even though the user interface isn't the latest, this little perfect app is very powerful and smart. I've forgot for how many years and all the destinations in which this simple app saved my life! Going from A to B in a strange city haven't been easier thanks to this amazing team that updates the maps very often!!!

Really Great App!!

I was a little skeptical about an app that could help you get around without wi-fi connection. Being an IPod user if you don't have wi-find you're pretty much stuck. This is great!!! Went to London and showed me which lines to take and what direction the train should be going!! So useful!! I would get this app before they start charging!!!!!!!!

This app on the Palm was the only reason I didn't wan to give the Palm up. This was my right hand whenever I went to NYC. I've been waiting forever for them to put out an iPhone app and now finally they have! I can't believe they're giving it for free, too! I'd happily pay up to $10 for this app. All the other Metro apps can just step aside now.
metrO for my iPhone!
by Alexxx Ingente on 2009/07/13 18:31
I used to have metrO in my O2 XDA II back home in the Philippines. It is one of my favorite application, perfect application at no cost at all. I can use it now in commuting to Boston and use it in my future travels here in the US. Good thing, I suscribed to the metrO yahoo group for updates. Thank you so much to the creators of this wonderful program as well as to contributors! MABUHAY to Everyone. . . . . . . . . . . .
Killer app 4 iphone
by JSL! on 2009/08/02 12:08
One of the great handheld apps. I used this app to show off hand held devices when I first bought a palm III. How these guys keep giving it away (donate!!!) is amazing, but I thank them weekly for it. This should be the #1 iphone/ handheld app around the world. Every time I am wacked in a foreign city I thank the gods of all that is good for Metro. Thank you guys you are Loius XIII of the app world. JUST GET THIS APP.!!!.
Simply the best
by Metro NYC on 2009/07/12 16:03
This Metro App is simply the best application/guild for any rapid transit commuter. I have previously used it on the Palm, after a much anticipation...it is finally available for the iPhone, and for FREE as always. This app is very user friendly and the interface makes it very remarkable, the learning curve with the app on an apple device is about 10 secs. if even that much is needed. The developers have work long and hard at bringing this powerful app over to the Apple brand. There time, commitment, and dedication truly shows in this product. That is why, even though it is FREE, I do not mind giving a donaton to their cause. Thank you guys for a brilliant app!
Great app - needs update
by predato on 2010/07/11 00:24
This is my go to app for navigating major cities. Easy to use, very comprehensive, and not needing a data connection is key (so you can use while on the subway). My one complaint is it's been two weeks since major route changes to the New York MTA and still no update in Metro. Thankfully the changes were to routes I don't often use.
Travel Paris with ease
by 12121fun on 2011/07/25 21:05
The offline availability is a key part of this app over-seas. We were traveling the subways like the regulars, never looking at the confusing subway maps in the terminals. Used in combination with a landmark map the hotel provided (which included metro stops) we were unstoppable. Thank you for this free app.

Description
metro helps you find your way in the public transportation systems in more than 400 cities around the world.
You D Best!
by Laeiou on 2019/11/01 16:28
One of the oldest most effective transit apps EVER!!!

Absolutely amazing!

Nice

Soon to test in Japan in Tokyo and Kyoto!

by DeficientAtLife on 2012/08/11 03:51
I downloaded this app because I was going on a three week trip to Europe.

Limited usefulness
by JPR50 on 2012/01/21 18:36
Since I rarely just travel between 2 major landmarks in a city, this app doesn't help me much. The ability to enter addresses or intersections would make it much better and even worth paying for.
Just works!

I've used this app in London, Paris, Tokyo, Kyoto, Santiago, New York and Boston. I first learned about it and used it on a palm pilot, and now on an iPod. I was able to easily and effectively navigate the subways of every one of those cities without any glitches. Bravo!
Best app.

I used metro app in Paris and Madrid.without question there is nothing like this app for navigating the metro system in both cities.Would be lost without it. What's best you do everything off line You don't have to be connected to the internet. Just download and go. Horray for this app
Amazing app!

I've been using MetrO since my old Palm Vx days and it has been amazingly useful all along. I push this app on people like it's the result of my own handiwork -- which it's not. Helps anyone who ever travels on mass transit anywhere!

We used this AP all over Paris we were travelling the Metro like locals. I couldnt rate this AP high enough for a free ap.This also worked great for the Tube in London. You can find stops based on what you want to see not just the names of the stops. Invaluable as a tourist.

The offline availability is a key part of this app over-seas. We were traveling the subways like the regulars, never looking at the confusing subway maps in the terminals. Used in combination with a landmark map the hotel provided (which included metro stops) we were unstoppable. Thank you for this free app.

Excellent - Better than paid Apps.
by Alfacruxis on 2011/06/18 14:44
The best off-line (and even better that some on-line) app for metro transportation.

If you travel a lot, this is a lifesaver. I've used Metro since my PalmPilot days and loved it from the start. I've used it all over the world and it's been a tremendous help in navigating public transportation systems. The transit maps are updated regularly and mistakes are corrected quickly. And it's free. What more can you ask for?

This is the best App I ever used for travel. I have been to 5 countries in EU, and the app never failed me.
Very odd.

Never lets me down

You D Best!
by Laeiou on 2019/11/01 16:28
One of the oldest most effective transit apps EVER!!!
Excellent Port

I was a MetrO user when I had a Palm for many years. It's the only app that thus far I haven't found an iPhone equivilent. They have finally ported it over. It feels like an iPhone application but still retains the useful features of the Palm version. If you live or work in a city, or travel this is an essential application. It makes life so much easier to just enter your location and where you want to go and get a list of your travel options. At this price (free) you get way more than you paid for.

Now I'm not saying this isn't a good app, I'm just saying it could be so much better.

by Jaxrevenge on 2012/10/11 18:21
You download the cities you are going to before you leave your country and you can access all the metro info available for that city on the app with no network connection. That means while you are underground you can still look at all the stops on the line you are on to validate you are going the right direction and on the right line underground. I've used it in New York, Los Angeles, DC, Madrid, and Rome. Soon to test in Japan in Tokyo and Kyoto!
Keep this app simple!

Excellent app!

No need for a data connection makes this app invaluable! I use it in various places where Internet access isn't available. I just punch in my current subway or train station and where I need to go and this app always delivers. Many cities are available; this also a huge asset. Once you are familiar with the interface you'll never need another app for transit directions.
Now for the iPhone--wonderful!

Better and more complete than any other Subway app in the app store or any platform for that matter

Unusable
by DeficientAtLife on 2012/08/11 03:51
I downloaded this app because I was going on a three week trip to Europe.
Limited, unpolished.

Perfect

Even though the user interface isn't the latest, this little perfect app is very powerful and smart. I've forgot for how many years and all the destinations in which this simple app saved my life! Going from A to B in a strange city haven't been easier thanks to this amazing team that updates the maps very often!!!
Great app!!

Really Great App!!
by cathiepcv on 2009/08/17 21:06
I was a little skeptical about an app that could help you get around without wi-fi connection. Being an IPod user if you don't have wi-find you're pretty much stuck. This is great!!! Went to London and showed me which lines to take and what direction the train should be going!! So useful!! I would get this app before they start charging!!!!!!!!
Superb and incredibly useful

If you travel a lot, this is a lifesaver. I've used Metro since my PalmPilot days and loved it from the start. I've used it all over the world and it's been a tremendous help in navigating public transportation systems. The transit maps are updated regularly and mistakes are corrected quickly. And it's free. What more can you ask for?
FINALLY!!!
by kglinnen on 2009/07/19 05:10
This app on the Palm was the only reason I didn't wan to give the Palm up.
Simply the best
