I sent in 2 separate orders for photo books as I managed to delete the first one by thinking I could go back by pushing a cancel sign as there is no back arrow. I reentered it only to accidentally hit the wrong button when choosing pictures and once it shows you have chosen 200 pics which I didn’t want, I couldn’t figure out how to eliminate them without starting over. Once the first book was complete I decided to go ahead and pay rather than risk screwing up again. By placing 2 orders, I didn’t qualify for the free shipping as each order was just below the $49.00 limit. Very frustrating! I hope they’re worth it

This app makes it so easy to make photo gifts. I made a photo scrapbook for a family member for Christmas. It was very easy to download the pictures and edit the pages. I highly recommend this app for anybody that wants personalized and special gifts or greeting cards.

They say free prints well they are 4x4 prints I had no idea and you pay a brick load in shipping so they get you there. The quality isn’t even good either.

I made some memory game cards. The first issue I had is that the “insert text here” square completely covers the picture you are using so that you have to toggle between preview and edit screen to edit the pictures. It’s rather like playing the memory game while editing. Secondly, the control area are way too sensitive. You have to drag the picture to the small area not covered by the text box and then get the green plus sign and then hope it stays. Last, the help for the specific items is very poor. Step by step would be helpful. Get rid of the text box default! I haven’t gotten them yet so I will see how they turn out. UPDATE: The cards from last year turned out great! I am using Shutterfly again this year. I still think the interface could be better, but the products turn out well.

In making a calendar I could not use my ipad horizontally which was a little annoying but I managed. Otherwise I enjoyed making different things here on Shutterfly and had fun with all my pictures making coasters, ornaments and desk pictures.

Great! 82 free 4X6 photos Had to only pay shipping fees! How great is that! You never have to worry about losing your photos either. Plus they have tons of cool stuff you can put your photos on. They do calendars, super gifts. I rate them five 5, on scale 1 to 5😃❤️

Didn’t know how to choose a cover for my calendar. Ordered on my phone so not sure if Styles was for the cover. Could not see options well for Styles. Had a little difficulty with Background also. Would like to see a preview before completing order to be sure it is correct. Otherwise fairly easy to navigate through process.

I highly recommend. It has great, high quality products and it’s very easy to transfer your photos and find what your looking for. You can even get unlimited (I think) 4x6 cards in just a few clicks for free, all you pay is shipping! I hung them all around my room and get new ones every 6 months because they are so easy and cheap to order. Takes awhile to arrive and one time they got lost and I had to reorder, but Shutterfly was very helpful! Great service.

Love the convenience, quality and service. I’m over the days of standing in the local drug store waiting for 100 photos to load, then the hefty process of generating ideas for the photo gift you want to order for a loved one. After downloading the app I completed my photo order in fifteen minutes from my cozy bed. I get the finished product in a day or two. Worth It!

I watched them change the price on items multiple occasions, and they charge ridiculous shipping rates. Also their app is glitchy and crashes anytime you upload too many photos. Reports there’s no space on phone when theirs plenty. (I deleted many photos after backing them up and it still said I had no space.)

I have used Shutterfly for years. I love that they have an app but it constantly goes out while I’m using it and I have to start all over. I’ve done all of the updates but still it pushes me out of the app all of the time. This happens most often when I’m trying to upload pictures. Wish it would work better.

I really don’t have anything bad to say. These products are always great quality. Family and friends always love the gifts we get them and ask where we bought them from. They come in a timely manner for the most part. Sometimes the delivery date gets delayed or pushed back without notification. However, I do love the free gifts that you can get and just pay shipping for! I don’t really prefer to pay full price then shipping on top of it so I usually buy enough to get free shipping.

I really can’t say enough about Shutterfly. My only negative thing to say is about the price of shipping. It is kind of expensive and usually counts per item. That stops me from ordering more than I would like to! But I have had such a great experience designing, shopping, and ordering with them. I am absolutely pleased 100%. I have never had a bad experience with them. I have been ordering from this company for many years and have bought tons and tons of items. I order from them at least 2x a month and that’s not exaggerating. One time I received the wrong item only because it was around Christmas time. But I got the correct item a week later and never had to worry about keeping track of it. I love all of the promotions they send through my email. It keeps me coming back for more. I have ordered things for almost everyone in my family and given lots of gifts and there is not one that I can shake my head at and say I wish I didn’t order this. I have been making Shutterfly books since 2010 and I’ve grown over the years making Shutterfly books of my grandchildren‘s life. At first I didn’t have a clue what I was doing so I called Shutterfly for help and to this day, the amount of help I received is beyond words. This company has employed people that are knowledgeable, have a lot of experience with computers, patience and most of all, they stay with me on the phone as long as it takes until I understand how to do something. Never once have I thought about going with any other company to make my photo books. This company offers so many items with ongoing sale prices and freebies. I have yet to pay for any of my mailing address stickers or any 4 x 6 pictures. I can’t say enough good about Shutterfly, but what I can say is, this is an amazing company, you won’t find better service anywhere, the prices are always right and I will be forever be grateful for the products that I have always received in a timely manner and best of all, if you’re not satisfied at anytime, Shutterfly is always willing to work with you And every time I’ve called they always before I hang up and say is there anything else they can help me with. I truly feel that as a consumer, this is one company that always makes me happy to have called and receive such great results when all is said and done.

I used Shutterfly about 4 years ago and I don’t remember it being as difficult to use as it was this time. Loading pictures from ‘browsing’ was only one at a time then you had to start all over again scrolling to find the next picture that you wanted. These were the pictures directly from my cellphone. It worked much better from my shared picture folders where you could select several pictures at a time before loading them to Shutterfly. Pictures did not load or rather stay in the order that I loaded them which was very frustrating. There was not direct initial instructions on how to set up a book and SAVE IT. I started this from the website and the site kept locking up which meant I lost my work because there was no save as you go. I finally set up an album to make my book from but again my pictures did not remain in the order I loaded them...VERY FRUSTRATING! I had to go back and remake the whole book. By this time I had down loaded the app to work from which worked better as far as not locking up like the website. I have another book to make but I dread going through this process again. It is terribly time consuming but should not be! I might consider using another photo book making company but I’ve already downloaded my pictures to Shutterfly. I still have to put them in an album before I can make the book. Then I’ll have to completely reorganize them in my book because they won’t be in the order that I downloaded them into the album. Ugh...
Expert and patient tech support staff

I am a novice with Shutterfly and was trying to assemble a photo book from my iPhone. After 3 separate calls to your tech support team...my order was processed to my amazement and satisfaction. I called 3 times because after first problem I had was solved by your team, I felt I was ok to to continue on my own.. unfortunately, I continued to assemble my book only to run into another hurdle. Your patient tech support rep was supportive of me and spoke to me with empowering words that helped my confidence to continue creating my book. I was able to proceed with my assembly until I reached my third roadblock. By this time I was frustrated and gave up, but this book was very important to me to give to my daughter for graduating college with her MBA degree and my granddaughter graduating with her with her Associate’s Degree. I do not want to but it was important for me to call tech-support again. And the person on the other in once again very kind, very helpful, very patient, very reassuring and talked me through and process and my book was ordered. Just want you to know the character and caliber of people you’ve selected to work with your customers. I appreciate your choices. I neglected to get names this time but I need tech-support again I will have names to pass on to you. I am at 5 Star in satisfaction Shutterfly customer.

This was my very first attempt on doing a baby book ever. I wanted to do a book for my first grand baby. Of course, I wanted it perfect. I was lost on how to even start the project. So I called Shutterfly, they were so kind, helpful, courteous and very patient with me. They held my hand each step of the way!! I spent many many hours doing the book SO MANY details which meant SO MANY decisions to make. But it was well worth the effort. I had originally planned on making a book every 3 months until 12 mos then start doing one yearly. Well, needless to say Nana never got there , now I have my second grand baby and I need to make one for him as well, but trying to find the time is difficult for me especially having to go through 8900 photos!!! OMG I need to learn how to organize my many photos into their own albums so I can make more books. I am Very electronically challenged!! But Shutterfly has wonderful customer support. I wanted to get some free magnets, but I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong so it looks like I am going to miss out on the Special. Keep up the good job Shutterfly. It’s a rare to get any customer service from anywhere theses days, but to get Really Good customer service that is Amazing and Refreshing because that makes Shutterfly stand out ever more!! 👍👍👍

So I’ve used the app fo a while, made several photo books on it, and it’s ok. I like that I can easily save my photos and access them again. Making the photo books is pretty easy, but don’t make a big mistake, like suddenly changing themes, or all your work will disappear never to be retrieved. Your edits between the website and app don’t communicate nicely either, which is super annoying. My biggest complaint? Their shipping. You’d think you could save some money by ordering two or three books at a time and shipping them at once, but the price to ship nearly doubles or triples with each product of the same kind you add to your cart. And if you’re ordering different kinds of items, like a book and a magnet, well then you’re really gonna pay through the nose. Plus, you’d think it would arrive pretty quick for as much as you paid for it, but you’ve got another think coming; takes nearly two weeks for the thing(s) to arrive, even though you had to sacrifice the child you made the photo book about just to get them shipped. Anyway, I keep using it because I’ve got a lot of pictures in my account and I don’t really want to go through the hassle of transferring them to some other company, so I’ll stick with Shutterfly for a while keep making photo books that sit unordered because I can’t stomach paying $8 for that thin orange envelope.

I wanted to love this app. I really did. If it worked right it would be great. Especially because of the deals. I've spent hours making one 8 by 8 photo book because it wouldn't save my project. I started on the app and when I went to order it said "can not connect to Shutterfly check your connection". I had full bars of wifi and everything else was connected and running fast. I finally switched to the laptop. I managed to finish the book despite having to redo most of it. Now I'm still in the process of ordering. 15 minutes later it's still "spinning" I guess verifying my cc. It's "Erky" to say the least. Please Shutterfly fix these bugs and the app will be great! Update! After all my frustrations I’ve used this app several times to send my boyfriend cards, prints, and photo books. He love love love all of them. I can’t tell you how happy he is to get stuff from Shutterfly and always talks about the Orange Package. He gets so many compliments about the photo books and always has me telling other guys gf’s and wives where to get it. So I’ll say all in all I’m satisfied and it was worth it. I was just irritated this day when I was trying to make this book. Since I’ve made several with no issues. Thanks again Shutterfly

So...I’m traveling and I needed to order by this morning to get my husband his Father’s Day gift on time. I started trying this morning. I don’t have my password on me since I’m in a different state. So I tried to reset my password and your interface sent me a link to the “Reset your password” button page. When I emailed you you asked for verification of who I was in a way that there is no way I could have done it traveling and I’m not sure I could do it not traveling. All I wanted to do was order a mug for my husband’s father’s day. By the time I get all of this done my phone is at 10% and I am in downtown DC with no charge cable. I spend 24 bucks to get a charge cable so I could use a friends battery. By the time I got a cord the mug will not be there by Father’s Day and I can not get your app to take my credit card. We had to use a backup email my friend had and she created a new account just so I could place the orde, which I could not place until now because the app would not take the credit card information. So now at 10:30 at night the order for a Father’s Day gift went through but will not be there until a week too late. I’m so frustrated, disappointed and upset. What should have been a great experience was horrible. Why do I have to have an account for you to allow me to spend my money. And why are you having a technical glitch that would for me to “prove”who I am. Well I just though you guys should knows

Shutterfly is easier to use than the other sites I’ve tried but it still is difficult to use. It needs to have prompts or a chart that explains how to solve basic problems and what different symbols mean. For example: As soon as u select ur photos u want to use for ur book the system automatically plugs them into the pages and chooses the layout To change the order the pics are in and to change the layout then is very difficult. Through much time consuming trial and error I finally got the pages limited to one photo per page like I wanted it but I wanted them in order from oldest to newest and without spending many more hours I had to settle for a mixed up order that makes no sense because I couldn’t remove pics easily and replace them with the one I really wanted on that page. The few I managed to change were just luck. I couldn’t do it consistently because I couldn’t figure out what I did that made it possible. Sometimes what I did made it work and the next time it wouldn’t work. I think the app needs some work. The friend that helped me finish my first book transferred my information to our website. She said she never used ur app because it was too difficult. Several others Ive visited with said the same thing about the app. That it made it too hard to make ur own choices.

Vast amount of choices! Ease of use/ user friendliness is incredible! Prices and gifts/freebies are unmatched! And their Customer service is second to none! I spent hours creating items and when I got ready to check out I hit the place order button. I did not realize until I got my credit card notification that my order was almost $100 over what I remember putting in my cart!!! I was relieved to see that unlike any other side I’ve ever visited they had a cancel order option that gave you 30 minutes after your purchase to cancel no questions asked, so I took this option and Then went back to try and figure out what went wrong but when I went back to my cart everything was GONE as well as most all of my saved projects. I was heartbroken because I could not find anyway to get back all the stuff I had to bet I was creating. With not much hope I called customer service and after a short wait time I spoke to an amazing representative that was able to restore my car and reload all the items that I thought were lost!! And the whole process took less than 10 minutes thank you Shutterfly representative!! Sorry I did not catch her name :(

Update: While my first attempt at creating my calendar was really frustrating, and almost all of my pictures were sideways when I double checked my project the morning after I placed my order, the great customer service turned my 1 star review into a 4 star. They were super understanding and cancelled my order so I could correct everything and upgraded my shipping so that I would still be able to get it before Christmas. Original post: Just had a horrible time using the iPad app. Was disappointed that not all of the design options available on desktop were available on the app. After I would finish putting photos into a layout and return to the page later sometimes photos would be missing, certainly hope they are all there when I get my calendar! Also not all photos would drag and drop into all layouts which was extremely frustrating. Even more, when changing the background only the top half of the calendar background would change so it didn’t match the bottom, making it a totally useless feature. Checkout was fine, glad you guys got that working smooth so you can get your money🙄. And excuse me but $8 for shipping after all this was simply infuriating!!!

This review isn’t as much about the app as much as it is about the company. I have used Shutterfly for several years and haven’t run into any issues until this year. I always order calendars this time of year, two for my in law side and two for my side of the family. There are different events stored in my Shutterfly for each side of the family. Somehow (without me going in and checking to add the events) the calendars for my side of the family came with all events under the calendar section. So my in laws birthdays showed up on the calendar when they shouldn’t have. And I did preview the product. They were not on there when I ordered. I contacted Shutterfly the day they were delivered via email, and they contacted me back within two hours and helped me fix the issue and helped me reorder free of charge with rush shipping. They have been so fantastic to work with, and have wonderful customer service! I will continue to use shutterfly and recommend them always! I do also love the app, it has a few glitches here and there, and I tend to do the majority of my stuff on my computer.. but from what I’ve used the app for, I love it! Thank you Shutterfly!!
Limited and frustrating

I used to love using Shutterfly to creat my yearly photo calendars, and have been really disappointed in how frustrating and glitchy the website and app have become. I normally create multiple calendars for various family members, and loved the one stop shopping. I was going to create a photo desk calendar, but since you can only create certain projects on the app, it directed me to the website. The website is extremely slow and no longer organized my pictures by month or even in the order I downloaded them, some would come up in order, but others would be randomly placed, making it really difficult to find the photos I needed. When I finally got them downloaded and located the picture, I couldn’t always drag them into my calendar. Saying I was frustrated is an understatement. You also can’t edit projects on the app if you started them online, which is very frustrating when you don’t always have access to a shared computer. The app is very basic and I haven’t figured out if there is a way to share your work with others without giving them your login info. And since I’m making a family calendar, I always share it with the family members before I order. I used to really enjoy making the calendars, and they now have become a giant headache. Will be looking for another platform that will make the process more streamlined and less aggravating.

The app is easy to use but is unreliable. I placed orders for making 4x6” photos. I needed 5 copies of each print, as I was making photo albums for my family. I had to hit the plus button for each photo 4 times to get up to the total of 5 for each photo. Obnoxious and time consuming. Placed my order and received it yesterday. Problem is I only received 1 copy of each photo. I thought maybe I messed something up because I looked at the order confirmation and it said only 1 print was ordered for each photo. I assumed it was a mistake on my part...until I placed another order. This time, I placed an order for 3 copies of each photo. Set every photo to 3 copies. Had someone else check to make sure I had put each picture to 3. Again, obnoxious and time consuming. Placed the order and immediately checked my order confirmation. On the order confirmation, most photos said that I had selected only 1 print for each. I immediately canceled my order. So long story short, the app works if you only want to order 1 print of each photo. Any more than that and the app messes up your order. I do like the fact that I can get offers for free products through the app (despite expensive shipping). Overall, Shutterfly has great quality products but definitely disappointed in this glitch in the app, as it made the orders unreliable.

Pros: Price is good as long as there’s a sale, (and there are frequently good sales). The picture quality is great, and there are a number of good products to choose from. I can upload directly from Facebook, which helps when using a different device for locating the pictures for upload. Cons: If you are not using the right version (desktop version versus app) with the right device, it’s not going to work right. Trying to make a photo book on a mobile device was useless. Using the app just now, the couple of features that I could not find were the option to save my project as I was working on it and the option to edit the photo itself (beyond sizing) in-app. Not being able to save the project with so many pages was scary. There were some instances where the text or photo seemed to do its own thing, and I could not universally apply the same font and size to all the pages, making the project tedious. I know on the desktop version of the site, I can save as I go, but then changing out pictures doesn’t want to work, at least not while using a tablet. Nonetheless, I managed to put together a great book commemorating a great family vacation , and can’t wait to see the end result in the next couple of weeks!

You're always getting discounts. If you see something in the offer that would be great for a gift, get it then and save it. The discounts are really great. We've gotten a free canvas print twice now. The emails may get annoying, but I just swipe and delete. When one pops up that catches my attention- I look into it. You can have it automatically download your pics, and they’re there. (Kind of nice way to store your pics). 4x6 and 4x4 prints-are free just for using the app. Shipping only. No subscription at all. The shipping was $22 for they’re highest order number-250 photos. I'm not the person who goes crazy and gets picture gifts and prints for myself or others. I printed a lot of pictures in bulk to have print versions from my phone. Then I see something cool. I got the photo book for "grandma." The canvas (shipping only) I got 2 free 8x10’s and ordered my 2 girl’s school pics to send to grandparents for their wall. I take advantage of what they offer at a price that's sometimes hard to pass up. But overall- great app. Took me some time to figure it ALL out. But it is easy to use.
Ridiculous shipping prices

I was going to purchase 16 items and 163 prints. I did have five promo codes, three which came directly off the App. Right before I was going to check out I saw “free shipping if you spend $39!” So I went back and made a nice desk top frame and added a notepad to total over $44, to make sure I spent over the $39 for the free shipping. At check out it now cancelled off 2 of my promo codes for some unknown reason and they were still charging me over $36 in shipping. I did read the fine print that said 4x6 photos were not included in that discount, which was fine, but why are you charging me $36 for 10 magnets, a reusable shopping bag, and 163 prints? I then deleted the prints and figured I could print them at Walgreens for 10 cents, because they are on sale all the time. Even after cancelling the prints which were excluded from the free shipping, my shipping cost was still $27! I don’t understand. I love Shutterfly and the promos, coupons, etc... but they need to do something about the shipping. I think customers would rather pay for the “free” 4x6 photos then pay $30 in shipping for them. I ended up spending $8 and deleting all of my other items I spent 2 hours working on, because I wasn’t paying $88 for the few items I was purchasing since all of them were excluded from the “free shipping if you spent $39”.

I have had multiple orders with delivery or print issues (ordered consecutively) This issues are anytime I add text. I have used the app on each order that has been wrong. Customer service has not resolved any issue. In one case I contacted customer service via email, immediately following receiving order confirmation email that indicated that the photo book I ordered was being sent to my billing address and not my shipping address. Although indicated on the app, the address defaulted at the order point. Customer service asked the correct address, I responded with the correction immediately. I received second email asking the same question again, I gave the address again, I was sent an email saying now my item would NOT make it by Christmas because it was now a reorder (even though I paid for rush shipping), I responded with this concern, heard nothing for two days and receive a final email saying that the item was on its way... to the original WRONG ADDRESS! Separately, I have had the app default and print my billing address on envelopes when I have indicated a shipping and return address. I have not had any issues resolved. So, while the products are very nice and image quality in nice when, you could wind up paying much more that you thought and be scrambling to cover up misprinted labeling. !!!BEWARE!!!

Customer service! ..incredible! Quality... the BEST!! Shutterfly has the absolute best promos (if you subscribe to their emails/app)..they basically send freebies/deals almost every day! The ONLY thing you ever pay is shipping but that is okay bc everyone has to pay for shipping! Shutterfly was my go-to for my wedding invites, thank you cards, new year calendars, annual photo books, boudoir photo book for my husband to-be, and all of my personalized gifts for birthdays and Christmas for my closest friends and family, in-laws, our-laws (lol) and entire wedding party... I also have a huge family, AND just got married Oct 14! Shutterfly was my go-to source for to personalize all of my wedding gift thank you cards, engagement photo books, wedding photo books, wedding guest sign in book, and the best part, they save all of my photos in a cloud (free of charge like Facebook used to)! Their customer service reps helped me personalize, customize and perfect each of my needs they are incredible! I do my research, and have found that there is no one better than Shutterfly! Trust a bridezilla on this one!
TIRED OF TRYING WITH CRASHING APP!!!

This app is the absolute worst I have ever used? 1st I was working on 2 different photo books, then the app started crashing. Everything was ok at first then I noticed I lost one of the books I was working on. No big deal cause I still had one. I worked with it for 3 weeks because the app kept crashing, then it wouldn't upload any of my pictures. Today I try to go in and finish my saved book only to find out all of my info and my book was lost from the app crashing. I have been trying to start all over without a comolaint, BUT the app has already crashed on me 10 times. I can't even put 1 photo in the book without it freezing or completely shutting off. Now you people want a review and for me to refer my friends? You have to be joking. There is no way I would recommend this app to anyone!! I have lost 3 books and I don't think I want to continue starting and restarting every project that I would like to have. The main reason I have been working so diligently on this book is because I want to give it to my mother. My father passed away a little over a month now and I have been trying to make this book of them for her. Now I can't even get that to work! WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST?!? I am very dissatisfied, disappointed and frustrated. Thanks for NOTHING! I didn't even want to give any stars for this app
Double cost of items in cart at check out

The price of the items in the cart are doubled when you proceed to check out. Promos such as 5 free magnets don’t materialize, and the cost is therefore not deducted. A mug and 5 “free” magnets cost nearly $18 dollars to ship! The promotions that they grab your attention with in large print, don’t really apply to most of what you want, or you have to buy in very large quantity in order for them apply. I phoned Shutterfly via an 888 phone number which I searched for and found online, and it is completely automated, complete with fake typing sounds in the background. You will never be able to speak with someone. If you want to discuss adjusting the cost of the items, you have to check out and order them anyway, get the order number, and then email to a specific address to explain why the cost of the items you’ve already ordered need to be adjusted. The automated message informs you, that once you email this address, you will have to wait 3-4 business days to get a response to your email. By then, I would assume your ordered items would already have been delivered, and you’d likely have even more trouble getting prices adjusted on items that were already shipped to you! This is garbage. I will look for Christmas cards and photo-gifts elsewhere next time around.
Terrible user interface

This app is horrible. Wanting to work on a photo book on my iPad instead of firing up the desktop computer I downloaded this app because Shutterfly won’t let you edit a book in chrome or safari on the iPad. (I don’t have this problem with other publishing companies.) First I am FORCED to upload a minimum of 20 pictures for a photo book (I had 17 for a baby book I am making). Then it automatically populates them into a book and I can’t remove the extras from the photo tray. The book is blank and I have to choose the design AFTER the photos are added. No way to preview designs first. Design choices are cheesy and limited compared to what they offer to work with online. That’s as far as I got before I deleted this app. Waste of my time. The only reason I come back time and time again to Shutterfly is because they offer so many “free” items (but don’t get me started on their ridiculous shipping costs). To be honest the print quality isn’t that great and it varies SIGNIFICANTLY all the time. I’ve had to contact customer service frequently for photo books that have terrible print quality (over saturated, too dark, etc). I definitely don’t see any merit in using this app. It offers no advantages to using Shutterfly other than you don’t have to be on a desktop computer.

Shutterfly has been my go-to for pictures and personalized products for 5+ years now. I appreciate the ease of use and their selection never seems to disappoint! The app makes it easy for my procrastination-prone attention span to quickly select and order free prints to keep the fam in the “my-kid-is-growing-too-fast-I-can’t-keep-up” updates (and my few and far between letters, but no one minds BECAUSE THEY HAVE A BUTT-LOAD OF PICTURES! Win-win.) Free (well, shipping costs) also means less excuses to put it off, which I obviously benefit from. Quality is always awesome as long as I am aware of the dpi and resolution of the pictures I’m using- I mostly use my phone camera and haven’t had any problems (and I’ve ordered tote bags, books, prints, art prints, magnets, greeting cards, announcements...). Now if I could only sit down long enough to put together another book. Oh wait! They save your progress on all your creative endeavors!! Really do appreciate the convenience Shutterfly affords it’s customers- it truly is a staple in my home.
Good but not user friendly

I like the choices, but the app is not user friendly. It seems easy enough, but there are some major hiccups. For one thing, when you add something to the cart, it removes all the pictures you’ve chosen other than the ones you’ve used. So if you’re getting multiple things, you have to go back through and add all over again. For me, that is a HUGE issue bc I like to compare. So it was awful. Then at one point the app just closed. Either bc it was overwhelmed or I was taking too long. Hence the 2nd issue for making me go back and re-add all the pics I already chose. I already once spent a VERY long time (8hrs, embarrassingly enough) and at the end, after I placed my order guess what? There was no order, and there was no saved work. Awful awful awful. I wanted to vomit. I literally didn’t sleep, and literally spent the entire night doing this. That was my first experience. Tonight I came on here for three pictures that I needed. I saw a great deal. Not only did it take me 1.5hrs, but in the end I ended up spending $55 for my “freebies” and like 5 pictures I got. $33 in shipping. Anyway, it is a lot of time, a lot of effort, and a lot of money. So I’m not impressed.
Mobile App Needs Work

I was trying to create a wall calendar from my phone. You can't personalize any of the dates and you're incredibly limited in the layouts: I remember making a calendar on my laptop a year or two ago and I could change/adjust the photo layout, both by making a picture larger or smaller AND adding text or "stickers" (little illustrations) wherever I wanted. It probably took me SIX hours because the app kept closing on my iPhone and then when I could finally log back in, all of the pictures that I had added/removed from the pool of pictures available to me would be gone and I would be starting over with original pictures I uploaded. ALSO, I would select a picture not being used in the calendar and go to delete it (so I could work around that ridiculous maximum number of uploads), only to be met by a pop-up telling me the picture was being used elsewhere in my book and did I want to delete it? Well, I knew I wasn't using, a picture of my dog, for example, so I'd drag it to the trash and *POOF!* a picture of my nephews would disappear from the calendar page I had already designed...but my dog's would stay?! Took WAAAAAAAY too long to complete this project. This app needs some serious help :-/
If you care about grammar in your keepsakes, app is not worth it.

Got a 6x6 Photobook printed using the app. Carefully typed everything with proper grammar, as this was going to be a keepsake. Upon receipt of the book I realized all the apostrophes had been removed from all text entered, which I did not see when making the book due to the ridiculously small size of the print in preview mode. I went back and looked at another project I had in the works, and sure enough, all apostrophes had been removed from that as well. After figuring out this was an app glitch I contacted customer service and they kindly gave me a credit for the book. Hoping the glitch was temporary I asked if this was something that would be fixed in future; and here is the reply I got: We are sorry to hear that your order did not turn out as expected. We are sorry to inform that we do not have an option to add or prints "apostrophes" in app. However, you can create the photo book in your website account and can add "apostrophes". We would like to inform you that "apostrophes" sometimes will not print in products. Please use full expansion of the word, so there will be no issue with the text printing on the product. Oooookay then. Let’s not get into possessive nouns or pronouns then....I’ll just use the website.
Stick to the desktop

While I love Shutterfly, their process leaves room for improvement, and the app is even worse. No filters on the app for the time-consuming wading through of all the card options? Really? At least the desktop version gives you that to simplify your choices. Both versions need an “undo” and “re-do” functionality since the whole process is about trying what is most visually appealing and sometimes going back to what you started with. Didn’t see any of those types of tools, which meant having to swap photos and constantly re-edit them each time they were moved. I love the card template style options, but you need to allow more customization for the quantity, rearrangement and resizing of photos for more personalized options. I realize the less visually inclined may not produce a project worthy of the Shutterfly name, but it is their family being represented and they should have that option. Busy, and larger families may want to use more than 6 photos without the added cost of gatefold cards. Last, but not least, have an auto-save for those who forget to save often. Having the app crash in preview mode after having spent a lot of time on creating their masterpiece only to find all their work obliterated is not good business.

The products sold by Shutterfly certainly deserve a 5 star rating; however, the instructions fall flat when it comes to the design a person has to choose for his/her project. Particularly, when it involves a book. Ideally, I would like to understand how to edit out/in pictures initially chosen for a book. I would like to see some direction for replacing a picture from front cover to inside and instruction about inserting captions with pictures. Very recently I ordered 3 books. With the first 2, I was winging it and had no idea what I was doing, so the product was my own making and not that pretty! By the 3rd order, I found a few more instructions and it will be an improvement, but not ideal. Again, I have to blame myself, BUT I hold Shutterfly responsible because directions should NOT be so confusing or absent. It is written as though everyone understands - well, everyone is not as tech savvy as you think. I’m not ignorant, but I certainly feel that way - especially when it comes to ordering books from Shutterfly! So, please hire a tech writer who knows HOW to write for the masses!
Handy but difficult to manage

It’s great to have an app to conveniently order pics off your phone but it’s very difficult to manage to do a book project. Navigating the options, editing photos bc when they were selected the app automatically cut off part of the original pictures which was often people’s heads , and trying to figure out what you’re supposed to do, or pics weren’t clicking and dragging to move etc. was extremely frustrating.( had to move to my laptop for that but ran into the same problem there ) Also when ordering free prints, after placing the selected photos in the cart, I wanted to add more pictures and there was no obvious way to do that . So I had to place the order as it was and then start another order which was annoying. Also the advertising said 50%off photo books but as I torturously made a 50 page book at checkout it only took 25% off bc of the 8x8 book size I chose . After several hours trying to arrange the book in order ( bc the book program randomly places them ) and fixing cut off heads I was afraid to change the book size to get 50% off and have to spends hours editing again.

Love using this app. It’s super easy. Have gotten the usual stuff I’m sure most people get like photos, Christmas cards, and address labels made, but I’ve also gotten some really lovely gifts too like deck of cards for my sister with pic of us as kids being silly, jewelry box with my husband’s grandparents photo on it for his aunt after her mother died, and a pen holder for my husband’s desk with one of our wedding photos on it. Plus, we’ve got canvas pictures, a puzzle, photo book, and a notepad. My mom loves her coffee mug covered in photos of my sister and me from when we were little. It’s nice to see a pic of family when you’re having a hard day at work and you reach for a pen or a cup of coffee only to see happy memories suddenly... makes you remember why the struggle is worth it all. The winter holidays will be here soon enough. It’s a wonderful time to let people know that they matter and that you haven’t forgotten about them by sending them a card. That’s next on my to do list. Thank you, Shutterfly!

Last December, I created two photo books and a card with no problems! This year, I was determined to make one book and a card, but the app I used last year had to be “upgraded”. Since 2 December 2017, I attempted to purchase the album and customized cards I created, but the new app had several grave problems. First, the work that literally took me hours, would not save, so by the time I reached the purchasing part of the process, I had nothing in my cart. That happened the first day. Frustrated, I waited several days and began again. This time, the items that I placed in the cart were there, but, I was unable to make my purchase because the app “encountered a problem” and after three tries, I gave up. After about half an hour, I attempted to make the purchase again. Same problem. So, I returned the following day. Nothing was in my cart. I had to start again. And, unfortunately, I had to try to redo both the card and album more than five times. If I had been a different person, I would’ve given up and tried another company. This last time was the charm. I made the book and the cards and was able to purchase them tonight. Next year, I’ll try another company. I do not recommend this app!

I’ve used and loved this app for a long time (see review below), but for the past two months anything I try to order is a waste of time. I go through all the steps of creating my product of choice, as soon as I’m finished, if I select Preview, or Add to Cart it throws me out of the app. The first time I thought it was a fluke. I’ve tried several times and it’s two months later and it’s still happening. It’s very annoying to add 5 photos to a collage only to for the app to crash. I’m not wasting my time anymore. It’s too cumbersome to do it online on my phone. I could use my laptop, but I don’t get the app bonuses. So, until this is fixed, Shutterfly has lost my business. No more testing with collages, single photos only. But, I’m only going to test it for so long before I just delete it. I've used Shutterfly for years and have always been pleased anything I ordered. This app is very easy to use. My one critique is when ordering prints, I picked the photo and size I wanted, added it to the cart and when I select continue shopping, I get returned to the main menu. It's not a big deal, but I'd kind of like to stay in the section I'm shopping in when I add an item to the cart. Easy enough to hit home when I'm done. Still love the app.

This is my first time ordering from Shutterfly. After reading the reviews I thought I would go ahead and try it out. So I ordered about 10, 4x6 photos. And the monthly free scrapbook. The shipping fee is at a great price so I didn’t care. It also tells you what’s the expected date for it to arrive after it’s been shipped. So, after I got an email confirmation saying it’s been shipped, 6 days later it arrives (which is today.) It arrived about a week early than it said it would on the email, so I was surprised. I open the package, and the prints are absolutely amazing. Nothing wrong with the color or picture itself. 10/10 quality. And the scrapbook is amazing, the quality of it is nice. With the pictures you also get coupons for other companies along with it. I can’t wait to give it to my boyfriend for his birthday among other things. Shutterfly is a 10/10 company and I’ve already recommended it to a friend. Now she’s gonna go and print out pictures aswell. Thanks Shutterfly! ❤️

I normally don't write reviews. However, this app and website have such great promos, you can't beat it. If you're old fashioned like I am, you like having scrap books and photo albums, but printing pictures is time consuming and usually expensive. I just ordered two 8x10 and 200+ 4x4's and 4x6's and they were all FREE- I just paid S&H. Isn't that crazy? The site is easy to use with bountiful promotion codes. I'm looking forward to making a permanent home for my photos, thanks to Shutterfly! EDIT- the app has gone downhill a great deal. Initially it was very user friendly; now, it is impossible to make a photo book, and they have gotten rid of the simple 4x4 magnets that I was buying to cover a gun safe in beautiful pictures. Also, even though the promotion ends in five days, the app is not triggering an update so I can take advantage of the free calendar promotion. What is up with that? I was enamored at first, Shutterfly, but my interest is waning since you’ve taken away my favorites and also halted my project.

I don’t think I’ve ever been more frustrated with an app... So I had a coupon for a free 8x8 photo book. Uploading the photos went smoothly, but it all went downhill from there. The following things happened over and over (until i just gave up): half of the pages would just be cut off without the ability to scroll up to see them; it wouldn’t allow me to add new pictures; I would choose a layout for a page and the next time I came back to that page it was a completely different layout; if I removed a picture from one of the pages to select a different picture, the style on that page went away so the whole book had decorated blue pages except for that one white page (and reselecting the style to fix it changes the layouts of all of the work you’ve done already so you have to go back a resize all of your pictures again). The most frustrating thing was that the cover and title page stayed blank no matter how many times I edited the pictures/wording/fonts so I couldn’t see what it would look like. I seriously wasted 4 or 5 hours trying to figure all of this out, and then i finally gave up cause i felt like throwing my iPad at the wall. Oh, and the “free” 8x8 photo book will actually cost you $8. 😑

I was so excited to find the Shutterfly app and be able to create photo books and prints right from my phone! I created a photo book that turned out beautifully. I ordered about thirty 5x7 prints through the app. The photos had been taken on my iPhone 7. When I got the photos back every single one of them was poor quality and looked awful!! I was shocked after using Shutterfly for years and never having experienced this. I reached out to customer service and was told that when high resolution prints are printed as 4x6 or 5x7 sizes they don’t compress correctly and lose quality! If an app is designed to print photos from a phone then I simply can not understand how the quality of the photos from a very typical phone is incompatible! Also, if that were the case there should have been some sort of warning! Very, very disappointed that I can not actually use the app for prints but instead have to download every photo to a computer to resize them and then upload them to the website. This seems like it can’t possibly be right but I clarified twice and was told the same information, and my print are awful so I guess it’s true.

I have been a faithful customer of them for years. I love their photo books, I made a nice big one each year... before kids, and for my first daughter’s first year ... I don’t have time to design anymore but I still do get their prints, photo mugs for myself and family at Christmas. I just ordered their “free” 4x6 off the app, and I did before, I think I ordered about 100 before and paid 10$ in shipping, and I just ordered 250 for about 25$ shipping... so in the end its about 10 cents a print for pictures better quality than your going to get from a Walgreens... so that’s how I justify it.... but there is NO WAY that it costs 25$ to ship a stack of 250 small pictures? Seriously? Good quality but it’s just Annoying when you think your getting a great deal... you are just paying a reasonable price... same with their photo books and mugs... take your time and make it nice and only buy when the 40-50% sale is going for a reasonable price....

I was making a photo book for my anniversary and it was a story about our dog that we had lost back in July. It was a rhyming story so it took a long time to create the story and the wording. I initially tried making the book online but for some reason in a browser you cant personalize your book very much. I’m not a fan of them making my books and I prefer to have control of my book and where all the photos, wording etc. Go. SO their website tells me that it’s a better experience in the app. So I download the app, spend HOURS making and customizing my photo book and then out of nowhere it crashes!!! But since there is no “save project” button in the app as you’re working it did not save my project. I literally cried and almost gave up. But since they were having a really good sale I pressed on hoping that I could finish it by the time the sale ends at 12 midnight. Finally I realized later that if I periodically add the project to my cart it saves the project. Thats kinda ridiculous to have to do every few minutes so that way if the app crashes you aren’t left to start from square one. For paying $60 for a photo book the whole experience was terrible!!!

I am so impressed with the selection different items from $5 dollars to beautiful pillows and blankets. Being a mother of 3 children and 12 grandchildren between my husbands children and my own to keep visible a framed picture current whether it be small or large picture. With finding the many many options I have on Shutterfly the older adorable funny pictures that I wanted to hold on and keep forever have turned into beautiful items in my home so that I now can keep up current school pictures and keep the rest of all the many treasured pictures still visible on a pillow on my couch to the coffee mug I drink out of. This allows me to have a lot more room to actually sit that treasured mug! Thank you Shutterfly for all the amazing free offers and the discount on everything else! Solid App With a Few Bugs

This app does what it is supposed to do most of the time. I only use it to backup photos to the cloud. When uploading them, it keeps track of what pictures have been uploaded from your device with a small "S" in the corner of each photo. When you go to upload them, you can manually select each picture or press "Select All" to upload all the pictures not yet uploaded. However, a few days ago, for no reason at all the app signed me out of my account. No big deal, I signed back in. But, when I went to upload some pictures it said that none of the pictures on my device had been uploaded, even though they had. Now I have to manually go through and select the pictures I need upload instead of just pressing "Select All". It wouldn't be a big deal, but I have a few hundred pictures to upload and would prefer not having to manually select all of them. If you guys could fix that, I would really appreciate it.

I’ve used the app on my phone to create two calendars. I was able to preview the first and it looked how I liked it. When I received it the photos on one page were turned from upright to sideways and there was “default” wording on every page that said “Charlotte and Henry” that was not there when I previewed it. They offered another calendar that I would have to pay extra shipping for. The next time I did a calendar the app closed right as I finished and the project was not saved so I had to start over. I thought maybe it was my fault, but the last time I made one it saved on it’s own periodically and when I re-made what I had just finished I couldn’t find a a way to save it. If there is a way, it needs to be made more visible. While I usually love what I receive from Shutterfly, I am frustrated with my previous experience and not happy with the last thing I received. Hopefully I get exactly what I created this time around.

Absolutely love this company! I tend to order every year as a lot of my family live over seas and I send calendars and books as Xmas gifts. The products come out absolutely beautiful each time. They even resent me one of my orders because they saw that it might not get to me before Xmas and they wanted to make sure it did, so they reprinted and sent next day air mail so I would get it before Xmas. I didn’t even know it wouldn’t get there. Both packages arrived before Xmas and honestly I don’t know what more you can ask from a company. Recommend to everyone I know! Love love love! The one thing I always say to people is make sure you “preview” the items before buying. They will show you what it will look like and a lot of times you do have to move pics around to get it to look right. If you don’t do that it can come out a bit off and I can see how people can get upset, but it isn’t the companies fault that you didn’t “preview” before purchasing.

In total I spent at least 20 hours online trying to place an order. After customer service opened I called for assistance and spent another 2+ hours on the phone which provided me with NO assistance at all. Even after starting the entire process over with a supervisor, she didn’t know any more than me or the first customer service representative. My pictures are from 2017 (have been attempting to get this book for 2 years!!!!!!!! Every time, I have become so frustrated I had to get away from Shutterfly. After 20 straight hours I hsve finally submitted my order but I know it is. Or whet I want because it would not let me put in the pictures I wanted. I chose the option to have your team set up my books and was instructed to send all my pictures for the team to go through. Well, it wouldn’t accept them. Like I said, I have never worked so diligently at something for NOTHING to work right. It also said I would be contacted in three business days to review the books made by the team but it forced me to go ahead and make payment. My guess is they will send them exactly like they were loaded with no assistance put into it. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

I use Shutterfly for holiday cards and client gifts for my small pet service business. While they are expensive, I appreciate the quality and variation on gifts. When I choose a photo gift item, I want to make the same item for all my clients but with custom photos and name of their pet. I find it cumbersome because many settings, besides the actual photos, are the same. However, I cant save some of those and create a template to base the other ones from. There may be a way to do this, but I have always found it to be a headache. If I choose make a copy, and save the project with a different name, I have to be very careful to change all of the elements such as name of pet and photos from the last one I did. This last time, it was a stainless water mug and it defaulted to a size that I was not choosing so every time, I had to go back and change the size. A few almost slipped through but I caught it at checkout. A better workflow for multiple photo gifts would be great!

I have been hooked on making albums since I got back from our trip to Alaska. I really appreciate the 40% everything off, and most especially the free pages, because those additional pages can really rake up the cost of the album. I hope that Shutterfly will continue to give away all those promo codes because as long as they are available, I’m definitely going to be making more albums. The quality of each album produced by Shutterfly is excellent; from the cover to the pages itself. And that’s not just limited to the albums. I had the ability to order some coasters and they came out really good too. I only wish that they would allow us to order more than 100 photos. That’s the reason why I had to give it a 4 star instead of 5 star (I would give it 4.5 stars if there was an option for that). I understand that there has to be a limit or else everyone will be downloading 200 photos or more. Maybe Shutterfly would consider adding the maximum to 120.
I guess you get what you don’t pay for, as far as print quality is concerned.

The free prints from the app are a hit or miss. Could possibly be the megapixels on the cell phone camera. On the cell, the color looks fine, then when the prints come, it’s sometimes a little off. I don’t like the fact that I have to crop some of the photo out when editing the photo, when placing an order, because it doesn’t all fit in the frame provided. You can pinch the photo to make it smaller to fit and you can’t enlarge the frame either. I have done wedding invites, thank you cards and newborn announcements...all were beautiful and well done. My friends and family absolutely loved them. Even when Shutterfly mistakenly put through an order that wasn’t correct, they let me keep the messed up order and sent me the correct order. I def have no complaints about the deals that they provide. Except for the price of shipping on these free photos. Other than that, no complaints. I have orange envelopes all over my house.

I have to admit that it takes me awhile to figure some things out. Perhaps some options could be more user friendly, but once you get it down it’s so good. You have to be careful switching between mobile devices and desktop as features aren’t the same. You should create your projects on a desktop. You can upload from any device but the desktop version has the power you need to create. The good news is their customer service rocks. They will go the extra mile to make you excited about your order - even to helping you with features on your particular product or recommending options that will work well with your design if you ask for advice. I will use it again and again! Tip: Remember to always look at the Deals shown on the site when you first logon. Make note of the codes to use at checkout for free shipping or whatever the current offers are!

After many years of Shutterfly, I have to find a new company to make my calendar with. I am working on an iPad, with updated safari, but can not use the browser. I am forced to use this very unfriendly application version. I have made books and calendars with many edits, texts, styles and layouts. The app is missing so many features. Number one. I can not add new pictures without starting entirely over. As I work on a project I normally realize that I do not have enough shots of one person or a particular event and can easily add new. In the app, I can not delete from my choices for the calendar or add any new. The + sign does nothing. I can go back and select the, but any attempt to then choose the draft to edit is hung up. There is also no way to really crop pictures once selected. There is a window, but you can not change the size without finding a new layout. You can not manually move boxes. You can not add stickers. In prior years I could put a small picture on actually birthdays, but this is no longer available. What a shame that a good product has been ruined.

I’ve created 10 photo books or so on the Shutterfly Story app for my iPad. I really liked the options to customize layouts, text boxes, photo boxes & the ample backgrounds & stickers. But it seems those days are gone. My most recent book creation process was a pain because of the 100 photo limit that didn’t exist previously, & even when I deleted photos from my book to upload others, I kept getting a message that no more photos could be added. Another Pop up message was telling me that I couldn’t edit my book because the Story app wouldnt be available anymore but I could use the regular Shutterfly app. The problem is that this process is glitchy, & I had to create 6 “copies” of my book because the app wouldn’t let me edit because my book had been created in another app! I restarted completely in the other app thinking it would make it easier, but no, I kept having to create copies in order to get what I was satisfied with, which was less than I am accustomed to. My loyalty to this brand is wearing thin.

I sent in 2 separate orders for photo books as I managed to delete the first one by thinking I could go back by pushing a cancel sign as there is no back arrow. I reentered it only to accidentally hit the wrong button when choosing pictures and once it shows you have chosen 200 pics which I didn’t want, I couldn’t figure out how to eliminate them without starting over. Once the first book was complete I decided to go ahead and pay rather than risk screwing up again. By placing 2 orders, I didn’t qualify for the free shipping as each order was just below the $49.00 limit. Very frustrating! I hope they’re worth it

I made some memory game cards. The first issue I had is that the “insert text here” square completely covers the picture you are using so that you have to toggle between preview and edit screen to edit the pictures. It’s rather like playing the memory game while editing. Secondly, the control area are way too sensitive. You have to drag the picture to the small area not covered by the text box and then get the green plus sign and then hope it stays. Last, the help for the specific items is very poor. Step by step would be helpful. Get rid of the text box default! I haven’t gotten them yet so I will see how they turn out. UPDATE: The cards from last year turned out great! I am using Shutterfly again this year. I still think the interface could be better, but the products turn out well.

Didn’t know how to choose a cover for my calendar. Ordered on my phone so not sure if Styles was for the cover. Could not see options well for Styles. Had a little difficulty with Background also. Would like to see a preview before completing order to be sure it is correct. Otherwise fairly easy to navigate through process.

I highly recommend. It has great, high quality products and it’s very easy to transfer your photos and find what your looking for. You can even get unlimited (I think) 4x6 cards in just a few clicks for free, all you pay is shipping! I hung them all around my room and get new ones every 6 months because they are so easy and cheap to order. Takes awhile to arrive and one time they got lost and I had to reorder, but Shutterfly was very helpful! Great service.

Love the convenience, quality and service. I’m over the days of standing in the local drug store waiting for 100 photos to load, then the hefty process of generating ideas for the photo gift you want to order for a loved one. After downloading the app I completed my photo order in fifteen minutes from my cozy bed. I get the finished product in a day or two. Worth It!

I watched them change the price on items multiple occasions, and they charge ridiculous shipping rates. Also their app is glitchy and crashes anytime you upload too many photos. Reports there’s no space on phone when theirs plenty. (I deleted many photos after backing them up and it still said I had no space.)

I have been ordering personalized calendars as a gift to my grandmother & parents for years now! I have used Shutterfly for years. I love that they have an app but it constantly goes out while I’m using it and I have to start all over. I’ve done all of the updates but still it pushes me out of the app all of the time. This happens most often when I’m trying to upload pictures. Wish it would work better.

I really don’t have anything bad to say. These products are always great quality. Family and friends always love the gifts we get them and ask where we bought them from. They come in a timely manner for the most part. Sometimes the delivery date gets delayed or pushed back without notification. However, I do love the free gifts that you can get and just pay shipping for! I don’t really prefer to pay full price then shipping on top of it so I usually buy enough to get free shipping.

I really can’t say enough about Shutterfly. My only negative thing to say is about the price of shipping. It is kind of expensive and usually counts per item. That stops me from ordering more than I would like to! But I have had such a great experience designing, shopping, and ordering with them. I am absolutely pleased 100%. I have never had a bad experience with them. I have been ordering from this company for many years and have bought tons and tons of items. I order from them at least 2x a month and that’s not exaggerating. One time I received the wrong item only because it was around Christmas time. But I got the correct item a week later and never had to worry about keeping track of it. I love all of the promotions they send through my email. It keeps me coming back for more. I have been making Shutterfly books since 2010 and I’ve grown over the years making Shutterfly books of my grandchildren‘s life. At first I didn’t have a clue what I was doing so I called Shutterfly for help and to this day, the amount of help I received is beyond words. This company has employed people that are knowledgeable, have a lot of experience with computers, patience and most of all, they stay with me on the phone as long as it takes until I understand how to do something. Never once have I thought about going with any other company to make my photo books. This company offers so many items with ongoing sale prices and freebies. I have yet to pay for any of my mailing address stickers or any 4 x 6 pictures. I can’t say enough good about Shutterfly, but what I can say is, this is an amazing company, you won’t find better service anywhere, the prices are always right and I will be forever be grateful for the products that I have always received in a timely manner and best of all, if you’re not satisfied at anytime, Shutterfly is always willing to work with you And every time I’ve called they always before I hang up and say is there anything else they can help me with. I truly feel that as a consumer, this is one company that always makes me happy to have called and receive such great results when all is said and done.

I used Shutterfly about 4 years ago and I don’t remember it being as difficult to use as it was this time. Loading pictures from ‘browsing’ was only one at a time then you had to start all over again scrolling to find the next picture that you wanted. These were the pictures directly from my cellphone. It worked much better from my shared picture folders where you could select several pictures at a time before loading them to Shutterfly. Pictures did not load or rather stay in the order that I loaded them which was very frustrating. There was not direct initial instructions on how to set up a book and SAVE IT. I started this from the website and the site kept locking up which meant I lost my work because there was no save as you go. I finally set up an album to make my book from but again my pictures did not remain in the order I loaded them...VERY FRUSTRATING! I had to go back and remake the whole book. By this time I had down loaded the app to work from which worked better as far as not locking up like the website. I have another book to make but I dread going through this process again. It is terribly time consuming but should not be! I might consider using another photo book making company but I’ve already downloaded my pictures to Shutterfly. I still have to put them in an album before I can make the book. Then I’ll have to completely reorganize them in my book because they won’t be in the order that I downloaded them into the album. Ugh...

I am a novice with Shutterfly and was trying to assemble a photo book from my iPhone. After 3 separate calls to your tech support team...my order was processed to my amazement and satisfaction. I called 3 times because after first problem I had was solved by your team, I felt I was ok to to continue on my own.. unfortunately, I continued to assemble my book only to run into another hurdle. Your patient tech support rep was supportive of me and spoke to me with empowering words that helped my confidence to continue creating my book. I was able to proceed with my assembly until I reached my third roadblock. By this time I was frustrated and gave up, but this book was very important to me to give to my daughter for graduating college with her MBA degree and my granddaughter graduating with her with her Associate’s Degree. I do not want to but it was important for me to call tech-support again. And the person on the other in once again very kind, very helpful, very patient, very reassuring and talked me through and process and my book was ordered. Just want you to know the character and caliber of people you’ve selected to work with your customers. I appreciate your choices. I neglected to get names this time but I need tech-support again I will have names to pass on to you. I am at 5 Star in satisfaction Shutterfly customer.

This was my very first attempt on doing a baby book ever. I wanted to do a book for my first grand baby. Of course, I wanted it perfect. I was lost on how to even start the project. So I called Shutterfly, they were so kind, helpful, courteous and very patient with me. They held my hand each step of the way!! I spent many many hours doing the book SO MANY details which meant SO MANY decisions to make. But it was well worth the effort. I had originally planned on making a book every 3 months until 12 mos then start doing one yearly. Well, needless to say Nana never got there , now I have my second grand baby and I need to make one for him as well, but trying to find the time is difficult for me especially having to go through 8900 photos!!! OMG I need to learn how to organize my many photos into their own albums so I can make more books. I am Very electronically challenged!! But Shutterfly has wonderful customer support. I wanted to get some free magnets, but I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong so it looks like I am going to miss out on the Special. Keep up the good job Shutterfly. It’s a rare to get any customer service from anywhere theses days, but to get Really Good customer service that is Amazing and Refreshing because that makes Shutterfly stand out ever more!! 👍👍👍

So I’ve used the app fo a while, made several photo books on it, and it’s ok. I like that I can easily save my photos and access them again. Making the photo books is pretty easy, but don’t make a big mistake, like suddenly changing themes, or all your work will disappear never to be retrieved. Your edits between the website and app don’t communicate nicely either, which is super annoying. My biggest complaint? Their shipping. You’d think you could save some money by ordering two or three books at a time and shipping them at once, but the price to ship nearly doubles or triples with each product of the same kind you add to your cart. And if you’re ordering different kinds of items, like a book and a magnet, well then you’re really gonna pay through the nose. Plus, you’d think it would arrive pretty quick for as much as you paid for it, but you’ve got another think coming; takes nearly two weeks for the thing(s) to arrive, even though you had to sacrifice the child you made the photo book about just to get them shipped. Anyway, I keep using it because I’ve got a lot of pictures in my account and I don’t really want to go through the hassle of transferring them to some other company, so I’ll stick with Shutterfly for a while keep making photo books that sit unordered because I can’t stomach paying $8 for that thin orange envelope.

I wanted to love this app. I really did. If it worked right it would be great. Especially because of the deals. I've spent hours making one 8 by 8 photo book because it wouldn't save my project. I started on the app and when I went to order it said "can not connect to Shutterfly check your connection". I had full bars of wifi and everything else was connected and running fast. I finally switched to the laptop. I managed to finish the book despite having to redo most of it. Now I'm still in the process of ordering. 15 minutes later it's still "spinning" I guess verifying my cc. It's "Erky" to say the least. Please Shutterfly fix these bugs and the app will be great! Update! After all my frustrations I’ve used this app several times to send my boyfriend cards, prints, and photo books. He love love love all of them. I can’t tell you how happy he is to get stuff from Shutterfly and always talks about the Orange Package. He gets so many compliments about the photo books and always has me telling other guys gf’s and wives where to get it. So I’ll say all in all I’m satisfied and it was worth it. I was just irritated this day when I was trying to make this book. Since I’ve made several with no issues. Thanks again Shutterfly

So...I’m traveling and I needed to order by this morning to get my husband his Father’s Day gift on time. I started trying this morning. I don’t have my password on me since I’m in a different state. So I tried to reset my password and your interface sent me a link to the “Reset your password” button page. When I emailed you you asked for verification of who I was in a way that there is no way I could have done it traveling and I’m not sure I could do it not traveling. All I wanted to do was order a mug for my husband’s father’s day. By the time I get all of this done my phone is at 10% and I am in downtown DC with no charge cable. I spend 24 bucks to get a charge cable so I could use a friends battery. By the time I got a cord the mug will not be there by Father’s Day and I can not get your app to take my credit card. We had to use a backup email my friend had and she created a new account just so I could place the orde, which I could not place until now because the app would not take the credit card information. So now at 10:30 at night the order for a Father’s Day gift went through but will not be there until a week too late. I’m so frustrated, disappointed and upset. What should have been a great experience was horrible. Why do I have to have an account for you to allow me to spend my money. And why are you having a technical glitch that would for me to “prove”who I am. Well I just though you guys should knows

Shutterfly is easier to use than the other sites I’ve tried but it still is difficult to use. It needs to have prompts or a chart that explains how to solve basic problems and what different symbols mean. For example: As soon as u select ur photos u want to use for ur book the system automatically plugs them into the pages and chooses the layout To change the order the pics are in and to change the layout then is very difficult. Through much time consuming trial and error I finally got the pages limited to one photo per page like I wanted it but I wanted them in order from oldest to newest and without spending many more hours I had to settle for a mixed up order that makes no sense because I couldn’t remove pics easily and replace them with the one I really wanted on that page. The few I managed to change were just luck. I couldn’t do it consistently because I couldn’t figure out what I did that made it possible. Sometimes what I did made it work and the next time it wouldn’t work. I think the app needs some work. The friend that helped me finish my first book transferred my information to our website. She said she never used ur app because it was too difficult. Several others Ive visited with said the same thing about the app. That it made it too hard to make ur own choices.

Vast amount of choices! Ease of use/ user friendliness is incredible! Prices and gifts/freebies are unmatched! And their Customer service is second to none! I spent hours creating items and when I got ready to check out I hit the place order button. I did not realize until I got my credit card notification that my order was almost $100 over what I remember putting in my cart!!! I was relieved to see that unlike any other side I’ve ever visited they had a cancel order option that gave you 30 minutes after your purchase to cancel no questions asked, so I took this option and Then went back to try and figure out what went wrong but when I went back to my cart everything was GONE as well as most all of my saved projects. I was heartbroken because I could not find anyway to get back all the stuff I had to bet I was creating. With not much hope I called customer service and after a short wait time I spoke to an amazing representative that was able to restore my car and reload all the items that I thought were lost!! And the whole process took less than 10 minutes thank you Shutterfly representative!! Sorry I did not catch her name :(

Update: While my first attempt at creating my calendar was really frustrating, and almost all of my pictures were sideways when I double checked my project the morning after I placed my order, the great customer service turned my 1 star review into a 4 star. They were super understanding and cancelled my order so I could correct everything and upgraded my shipping so that I would still be able to get it before Christmas. Original post: Just had a horrible time using the iPad app. Was disappointed that not all of the design options available on desktop were available on the app. After I would finish putting photos into a layout and return to the page later sometimes photos would be missing, certainly hope they are all there when I get my calendar! Also not all photos would drag and drop into all layouts which was extremely frustrating. Even more, when changing the background only the top half of the calendar background would change so it didn’t match the bottom, making it a totally useless feature. Checkout was fine, glad you guys got that working smooth so you can get your money🙄. And excuse me but $8 for shipping after all this was simply infuriating!!!

This review isn’t as much about the app as much as it is about the company. I have used Shutterfly for several years and haven’t run into any issues until this year. I always order calendars this time of year, two for my in law side and two for my side of the family. There are different events stored in my Shutterfly for each side of the family. Somehow (without me going in and checking to add the events) the calendars for my side of the family came with all events under the calendar section. So my in laws birthdays showed up on the calendar when they shouldn’t have. And I did preview the product. They were not on there when I ordered. I contacted Shutterfly the day they were delivered via email, and they contacted me back within two hours and helped me fix the issue and helped me reorder free of charge with rush shipping. They have been so fantastic to work with, and have wonderful customer service! I will continue to use shutterfly and recommend them always! I do also love the app, it has a few glitches here and there, and I tend to do the majority of my stuff on my computer.. but from what I’ve used the app for, I love it! Thank you Shutterfly!!
Limited and frustrating

I used to love using Shutterfly to creat my yearly photo calendars, and have been really disappointed in how frustrating and glitchy the website and app have become. I normally create multiple calendars for various family members, and loved the one stop shopping. I was going to create a photo desk calendar, but since you can only create certain projects on the app, it directed me to the website. The website is extremely slow and no longer organized my pictures by month or even in the order I downloaded them, some would come up in order, but others would be randomly placed, making it really difficult to find the photos I needed. When I finally got them downloaded and located the picture, I couldn’t always drag them into my calendar. Saying I was frustrated is an understatement. You also can’t edit projects on the app if you started them online, which is very frustrating when you don’t always have access to a shared computer. The app is very basic and I haven’t figured out if there is a way to share your work with others without giving them your login info. And since I’m making a family calendar, I always share it with the family members before I order. I used to really enjoy making the calendars, and they now have become a giant headache. Will be looking for another platform that will make the process more streamlined and less aggravating.
App has a glitch

The app is easy to use but is unreliable. I placed orders for making 4x6” photos. I needed 5 copies of each print, as I was making photo albums for my family. I had to hit the plus button for each photo 4 times to get up to the total of 5 for each photo. Obnoxious and time consuming. Placed my order and received it yesterday. Problem is I only received 1 copy of each photo. I thought maybe I messed something up because I looked at the order confirmation and it said only 1 print was ordered for each photo. I assumed it was a mistake on my part...until I placed another order. This time, I placed an order for 3 copies of each photo. Set every photo to 3 copies. Had someone else check to make sure I had put each picture to 3. Again, obnoxious and time consuming. Placed the order and immediately checked my order confirmation. On the order confirmation, most photos said that I had selected only 1 print for each. I immediately canceled my order. So long story short, the app works if you only want to order 1 print of each photo. Any more than that and the app messes up your order. I do like the fact that I can get offers for free products through the app (despite expensive shipping). Overall, Shutterfly has great quality products but definitely disappointed in this glitch in the app, as it made the orders unreliable.

Pros: Price is good as long as there’s a sale, (and there are frequently good sales). The picture quality is great, and there are a number of good products to choose from. I can upload directly from Facebook, which helps when using a different device for locating the pictures for upload. Cons: If you are not using the right version (desktop version versus app) with the right device, it’s not going to work right. Trying to make a photo book on a mobile device was useless. Using the app just now, the couple of features that I could not find were the option to save my project as I was working on it and the option to edit the photo itself (beyond sizing) in-app. Not being able to save the project with so many pages was scary. There were some instances where the text or photo seemed to do its own thing, and I could not universally apply the same font and size to all the pages, making the project tedious. I know on the desktop version of the site, I can save as I go, but then changing out pictures doesn’t want to work, at least not while using a tablet. Nonetheless, I managed to put together a great book commemorating a great family vacation , and can’t wait to see the end result in the next couple of weeks!

You're always getting discounts. If you see something in the offer that would be great for a gift, get it then and save it. The discounts are really great. We've gotten a free canvas print twice now. The emails may get annoying, but I just swipe and delete. When one pops up that catches my attention- I look into it. You can have it automatically download your pics, and they’re there. (Kind of nice way to store your pics). 4x6 and 4x4 prints-are free just for using the app. Shipping only. No subscription at all. The shipping was $22 for they’re highest order number-250 photos. I'm not the person who goes crazy and gets picture gifts and prints for myself or others. I printed a lot of pictures in bulk to have print versions from my phone. Then I see something cool. I got the photo book for "grandma." The canvas (shipping only) I got 2 free 8x10’s and ordered my 2 girl’s school pics to send to grandparents for their wall. I take advantage of what they offer at a price that's sometimes hard to pass up. But overall- great app. Took me some time to figure it ALL out. But it is easy to use.
Ridiculous shipping prices

I was going to purchase 16 items and 163 prints. I did have five promo codes, three which came directly off the App. Right before I was going to check out I saw “free shipping if you spend $39!” So I went back and made a nice desk top frame and added a notepad to total over $44, to make sure I spent over the $39 for the free shipping. At check out it now cancelled off 2 of my promo codes for some unknown reason and they were still charging me over $36 in shipping. I did read the fine print that said 4x6 photos were not included in that discount, which was fine, but why are you charging me $36 for 10 magnets, a reusable shopping bag, and 163 prints? I then deleted the prints and figured I could print them at Walgreens for 10 cents, because they are on sale all the time. Even after cancelling the prints which were excluded from the free shipping, my shipping cost was still $27! I don’t understand. I love Shutterfly and the promos, coupons, etc... but they need to do something about the shipping. I think customers would rather pay for the “free” 4x6 photos then pay $30 in shipping for them. I ended up spending $8 and deleting all of my other items I spent 2 hours working on, because I wasn’t paying $88 for the few items I was purchasing since all of them were excluded from the “free shipping if you spent $39”.

I have had multiple orders with delivery or print issues (ordered consecutively) This issues are anytime I add text. I have used the app on each order that has been wrong. Customer service has not resolved any issue. In one case I contacted customer service via email, immediately following receiving order confirmation email that indicated that the photo book I ordered was being sent to my billing address and not my shipping address. Although indicated on the app, the address defaulted at the order point. Customer service asked the correct address, I responded with the correction immediately. I received second email asking the same question again, I gave the address again, I was sent an email saying now my item would NOT make it by Christmas because it was now a reorder (even though I paid for rush shipping), I responded with this concern, heard nothing for two days and receive a final email saying that the item was on its way... to the original WRONG ADDRESS! Separately, I have had the app default and print my billing address on envelopes when I have indicated a shipping and return address. I have not had any issues resolved. So, while the products are very nice and image quality in nice when, you could wind up paying much more that you thought and be scrambling to cover up misprinted labeling. !!!BEWARE!!!

Customer service! ..incredible! Quality... the BEST!! Shutterfly has the absolute best promos (if you subscribe to their emails/app)..they basically send freebies/deals almost every day! The ONLY thing you ever pay is shipping but that is okay bc everyone has to pay for shipping! Shutterfly was my go-to for my wedding invites, thank you cards, new year calendars, annual photo books, boudoir photo book for my husband to-be, and all of my personalized gifts for birthdays and Christmas for my closest friends and family, in-laws, our-laws (lol) and entire wedding party... I also have a huge family, AND just got married Oct 14! Shutterfly was my go-to source for to personalize all of my wedding gift thank you cards, engagement photo books, wedding photo books, wedding guest sign in book, and the best part, they save all of my photos in a cloud (free of charge like Facebook used to)! Their customer service reps helped me personalize, customize and perfect each of my needs they are incredible! I do my research, and have found that there is no one better than Shutterfly! Trust a bridezilla on this one!

This app is the absolute worst I have ever used? 1st I was working on 2 different photo books, then the app started crashing. Everything was ok at first then I noticed I lost one of the books I was working on. No big deal cause I still had one. I worked with it for 3 weeks because the app kept crashing, then it wouldn't upload any of my pictures. Today I try to go in and finish my saved book only to find out all of my info and my book was lost from the app crashing. I have been trying to start all over without a comolaint, BUT the app has already crashed on me 10 times. I can't even put 1 photo in the book without it freezing or completely shutting off. Now you people want a review and for me to refer my friends? You have to be joking. There is no way I would recommend this app to anyone!! I have lost 3 books and I don't think I want to continue starting and restarting every project that I would like to have. The main reason I have been working so diligently on this book is because I want to give it to my mother. My father passed away a little over a month now and I have been trying to make this book of them for her. Now I can't even get that to work! WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST?!? I am very dissatisfied, disappointed and frustrated. Thanks for NOTHING! I didn't even want to give any stars for this app
Double cost of items in cart at check out

The price of the items in the cart are doubled when you proceed to check out. Promos such as 5 free magnets don’t materialize, and the cost is therefore not deducted. A mug and 5 “free” magnets cost nearly $18 dollars to ship! The promotions that they grab your attention with in large print, don’t really apply to most of what you want, or you have to buy in very large quantity in order for them apply. I phoned Shutterfly via an 888 phone number which I searched for and found online, and it is completely automated, complete with fake typing sounds in the background. You will never be able to speak with someone. If you want to discuss adjusting the cost of the items, you have to check out and order them anyway, get the order number, and then email to a specific address to explain why the cost of the items you’ve already ordered need to be adjusted. The automated message informs you, that once you email this address, you will have to wait 3-4 business days to get a response to your email. By then, I would assume your ordered items would already have been delivered, and you’d likely have even more trouble getting prices adjusted on items that were already shipped to you! This is garbage. I will look for Christmas cards and photo-gifts elsewhere next time around.
Terrible user interface

This app is horrible. Wanting to work on a photo book on my iPad instead of firing up the desktop computer I downloaded this app because Shutterfly won’t let you edit a book in chrome or safari on the iPad. (I don’t have this problem with other publishing companies.) First I am FORCED to upload a minimum of 20 pictures for a photo book (I had 17 for a baby book I am making). Then it automatically populates them into a book and I can’t remove the extras from the photo tray. The book is blank and I have to choose the design AFTER the photos are added. No way to preview designs first. Design choices are cheesy and limited compared to what they offer to work with online. That’s as far as I got before I deleted this app. Waste of my time. The only reason I come back time and time again to Shutterfly is because they offer so many “free” items (but don’t get me started on their ridiculous shipping costs). To be honest the print quality isn’t that great and it varies SIGNIFICANTLY all the time. I’ve had to contact customer service frequently for photo books that have terrible print quality (over saturated, too dark, etc). I definitely don’t see any merit in using this app. It offers no advantages to using Shutterfly other than you don’t have to be on a desktop computer.

Shutterfly has been my go-to for pictures and personalized products for 5+ years now. I appreciate the ease of use and their selection never seems to disappoint! The app makes it easy for my procrastination-prone attention span to quickly select and order free prints to keep the fam in the “my-kid-is-growing-too-fast-I-can’t-keep-up” updates (and my few and far between letters, but no one minds BECAUSE THEY HAVE A BUTT-LOAD OF PICTURES! Win-win.) Free (well, shipping costs) also means less excuses to put it off, which I obviously benefit from. Quality is always awesome as long as I am aware of the dpi and resolution of the pictures I’m using- I mostly use my phone camera and haven’t had any problems (and I’ve ordered tote bags, books, prints, art prints, magnets, greeting cards, announcements...). Now if I could only sit down long enough to put together another book. Oh wait! They save your progress on all your creative endeavors!! Really do appreciate the convenience Shutterfly affords it’s customers- it truly is a staple in my home.
Good but not user friendly

I like the choices, but the app is not user friendly. It seems easy enough, but there are some major hiccups. For one thing, when you add something to the cart, it removes all the pictures you’ve chosen other than the ones you’ve used. So if you’re getting multiple things, you have to go back through and add all over again. For me, that is a HUGE issue bc I like to compare. So it was awful. Then at one point the app just closed. Either bc it was overwhelmed or I was taking too long. Hence the 2nd issue for making me go back and re-add all the pics I already chose. I already once spent a VERY long time (8hrs, embarrassingly enough) and at the end, after I placed my order guess what? There was no order, and there was no saved work. Awful awful awful. I wanted to vomit. I literally didn’t sleep, and literally spent the entire night doing this. That was my first experience. Tonight I came on here for three pictures that I needed. I saw a great deal. Not only did it take me 1.5hrs, but in the end I ended up spending $55 for my “freebies” and like 5 pictures I got. $33 in shipping. Anyway, it is a lot of time, a lot of effort, and a lot of money. So I’m not impressed.
Mobile App Needs Work

I was trying to create a wall calendar from my phone. You can't personalize any of the dates and you're incredibly limited in the layouts: I remember making a calendar on my laptop a year or two ago and I could change/adjust the photo layout, both by making a picture larger or smaller AND adding text or "stickers" (little illustrations) wherever I wanted. It probably took me SIX hours because the app kept closing on my iPhone and then when I could finally log back in, all of the pictures that I had added/removed from the pool of pictures available to me would be gone and I would be starting over with original pictures I uploaded. ALSO, I would select a picture not being used in the calendar and go to delete it (so I could work around that ridiculous maximum number of uploads), only to be met by a pop-up telling me the picture was being used elsewhere in my book and did I want to delete it? Well, I knew I wasn't using, a picture of my dog, for example, so I'd drag it to the trash and *POOF!* a picture of my nephews would disappear from the calendar page I had already designed...but my dog's would stay?! Took WAAAAAAAY too long to complete this project. This app needs some serious help :-/

Got a 6x6 Photobook printed using the app. Carefully typed everything with proper grammar, as this was going to be a keepsake. Upon receipt of the book I realized all the apostrophes had been removed from all text entered, which I did not see when making the book due to the ridiculously small size of the print in preview mode. I went back and looked at another project I had in the works, and sure enough, all apostrophes had been removed from that as well. After figuring out this was an app glitch I contacted customer service and they kindly gave me a credit for the book. Hoping the glitch was temporary I asked if this was something that would be fixed in future; and here is the reply I got: We are sorry to hear that your order did not turn out as expected. We are sorry to inform that we do not have an option to add or prints "apostrophes" in app. However, you can create the photo book in your website account and can add "apostrophes". We would like to inform you that "apostrophes" sometimes will not print in products. Please use full expansion of the word, so there will be no issue with the text printing on the product. Oooookay then. Let’s not get into possessive nouns or pronouns then....I’ll just use the website.
Stick to the desktop

While I love Shutterfly, their process leaves room for improvement, and the app is even worse. No filters on the app for the time-consuming wading through of all the card options? Really? At least the desktop version gives you that to simplify your choices. Both versions need an “undo” and “re-do” functionality since the whole process is about trying what is most visually appealing and sometimes going back to what you started with. Didn’t see any of those types of tools, which meant having to swap photos and constantly re-edit them each time they were moved. I love the card template style options, but you need to allow more customization for the quantity, rearrangement and resizing of photos for more personalized options. I realize the less visually inclined may not produce a project worthy of the Shutterfly name, but it is their family being represented and they should have that option. Busy, and larger families may want to use more than 6 photos without the added cost of gatefold cards. Last, but not least, have an auto-save for those who forget to save often. Having the app crash in preview mode after having spent a lot of time on creating their masterpiece only to find all their work obliterated is not good business.

The products sold by Shutterfly certainly deserve a 5 star rating; however, the instructions fall flat when it comes to the design a person has to choose for his/her project. Particularly, when it involves a book. Ideally, I would like to understand how to edit out/in pictures initially chosen for a book. I would like to see some direction for replacing a picture from front cover to inside and instruction about inserting captions with pictures. Very recently I ordered 3 books. With the first 2, I was winging it and had no idea what I was doing, so the product was my own making and not that pretty! By the 3rd order, I found a few more instructions and it will be an improvement, but not ideal. Again, I have to blame myself, BUT I hold Shutterfly responsible because directions should NOT be so confusing or absent. It is written as though everyone understands - well, everyone is not as tech savvy as you think. I’m not ignorant, but I certainly feel that way - especially when it comes to ordering books from Shutterfly! So, please hire a tech writer who knows HOW to write for the masses!
Handy but difficult to manage

It’s great to have an app to conveniently order pics off your phone but it’s very difficult to manage to do a book project. Navigating the options, editing photos bc when they were selected the app automatically cut off part of the original pictures which was often people’s heads , and trying to figure out what you’re supposed to do, or pics weren’t clicking and dragging to move etc. was extremely frustrating.( had to move to my laptop for that but ran into the same problem there ) Also when ordering free prints, after placing the selected photos in the cart, I wanted to add more pictures and there was no obvious way to do that . So I had to place the order as it was and then start another order which was annoying. Also the advertising said 50%off photo books but as I torturously made a 50 page book at checkout it only took 25% off bc of the 8x8 book size I chose . After several hours trying to arrange the book in order ( bc the book program randomly places them ) and fixing cut off heads I was afraid to change the book size to get 50% off and have to spends hours editing again.

Love using this app. It’s super easy. Have gotten the usual stuff I’m sure most people get like photos, Christmas cards, and address labels made, but I’ve also gotten some really lovely gifts too like deck of cards for my sister with pic of us as kids being silly, jewelry box with my husband’s grandparents photo on it for his aunt after her mother died, and a pen holder for my husband’s desk with one of our wedding photos on it. Plus, we’ve got canvas pictures, a puzzle, photo book, and a notepad. My mom loves her coffee mug covered in photos of my sister and me from when we were little. It’s nice to see a pic of family when you’re having a hard day at work and you reach for a pen or a cup of coffee only to see happy memories suddenly... makes you remember why the struggle is worth it all. The winter holidays will be here soon enough. It’s a wonderful time to let people know that they matter and that you haven’t forgotten about them by sending them a card. That’s next on my to do list. Thank you, Shutterfly!

Last December, I created two photo books and a card with no problems! This year, I was determined to make one book and a card, but the app I used last year had to be “upgraded”. Since 2 December 2017, I attempted to purchase the album and customized cards I created, but the new app had several grave problems. First, the work that literally took me hours, would not save, so by the time I reached the purchasing part of the process, I had nothing in my cart. That happened the first day. Frustrated, I waited several days and began again. This time, the items that I placed in the cart were there, but, I was unable to make my purchase because the app “encountered a problem” and after three tries, I gave up. After about half an hour, I attempted to make the purchase again. Same problem. So, I returned the following day. Nothing was in my cart. I had to start again. And, unfortunately, I had to try to redo both the card and album more than five times. If I had been a different person, I would’ve given up and tried another company. This last time was the charm. I made the book and the cards and was able to purchase them tonight. Next year, I’ll try another company. I do not recommend this app!

I’ve used and loved this app for a long time (see review below), but for the past two months anything I try to order is a waste of time. I go through all the steps of creating my product of choice, as soon as I’m finished, if I select Preview, or Add to Cart it throws me out of the app. The first time I thought it was a fluke. I’ve tried several times and it’s two months later and it’s still happening. It’s very annoying to add 5 photos to a collage only to for the app to crash. I’m not wasting my time anymore. It’s too cumbersome to do it online on my phone. I could use my laptop, but I don’t get the app bonuses. So, until this is fixed, Shutterfly has lost my business. No more testing with collages, single photos only. But, I’m only going to test it for so long before I just delete it. I've used Shutterfly for years and have always been pleased anything I ordered. This app is very easy to use. My one critique is when ordering prints, I picked the photo and size I wanted, added it to the cart and when I select continue shopping, I get returned to the main menu. It's not a big deal, but I'd kind of like to stay in the section I'm shopping in when I add an item to the cart. Easy enough to hit home when I'm done. Still love the app.

This is my first time ordering from Shutterfly. After reading the reviews I thought I would go ahead and try it out. So I ordered about 10, 4x6 photos. And the monthly free scrapbook. The shipping fee is at a great price so I didn’t care. It also tells you what’s the expected date for it to arrive after it’s been shipped. So, after I got an email confirmation saying it’s been shipped, 6 days later it arrives (which is today.) It arrived about a week early than it said it would on the email, so I was surprised. I open the package, and the prints are absolutely amazing. Nothing wrong with the color or picture itself. 10/10 quality. And the scrapbook is amazing, the quality of it is nice. With the pictures you also get coupons for other companies along with it. I can’t wait to give it to my boyfriend for his birthday among other things. Shutterfly is a 10/10 company and I’ve already recommended it to a friend. Now she’s gonna go and print out pictures aswell. Thanks Shutterfly! ❤️

I normally don't write reviews. However, this app and website have such great promos, you can't beat it. If you're old fashioned like I am, you like having scrap books and photo albums, but printing pictures is time consuming and usually expensive. I just ordered two 8x10 and 200+ 4x4's and 4x6's and they were all FREE- I just paid S&H. Isn't that crazy? The site is easy to use with bountiful promotion codes. I'm looking forward to making a permanent home for my photos, thanks to Shutterfly! EDIT- the app has gone downhill a great deal. Initially it was very user friendly; now, it is impossible to make a photo book, and they have gotten rid of the simple 4x4 magnets that I was buying to cover a gun safe in beautiful pictures. Also, even though the promotion ends in five days, the app is not triggering an update so I can take advantage of the free calendar promotion. What is up with that? I was enamored at first, Shutterfly, but my interest is waning since you’ve taken away my favorites and also halted my project.

I don’t think I’ve ever been more frustrated with an app... So I had a coupon for a free 8x8 photo book. Uploading the photos went smoothly, but it all went downhill from there. The following things happened over and over (until i just gave up): half of the pages would just be cut off without the ability to scroll up to see them; it wouldn’t allow me to add new pictures; I would choose a layout for a page and the next time I came back to that page it was a completely different layout; if I removed a picture from one of the pages to select a different picture, the style on that page went away so the whole book had decorated blue pages except for that one white page (and reselecting the style to fix it changes the layouts of all of the work you’ve done already so you have to go back a resize all of your pictures again). The most frustrating thing was that the cover and title page stayed blank no matter how many times I edited the pictures/wording/fonts so I couldn’t see what it would look like. I seriously wasted 4 or 5 hours trying to figure all of this out, and then i finally gave up cause i felt like throwing my iPad at the wall. Oh, and the “free” 8x8 photo book will actually cost you $8. 😑
Great idea with MAJOR flaw!

I was so excited to find the Shutterfly app and be able to create photo books and prints right from my phone! I created a photo book that turned out beautifully. I ordered about thirty 5x7 prints through the app. The photos had been taken on my iPhone 7. When I got the photos back every single one of them was poor quality and looked awful!! I was shocked after using Shutterfly for years and never having experienced this. I reached out to customer service and was told that when high resolution prints are printed as 4x6 or 5x7 sizes they don’t compress correctly and lose quality! If an app is designed to print photos from a phone then I simply can not understand how the quality of the photos from a very typical phone is incompatible! Also, if that were the case there should have been some sort of warning! Very, very disappointed that I can not actually use the app for prints but instead have to download every photo to a computer to resize them and then upload them to the website. This seems like it can’t possibly be right but I clarified twice and was told the same information, and my print are awful so I guess it’s true.

I have been a faithful customer of them for years. I love their photo books, I made a nice big one each year... before kids, and for my first daughter’s first year ... I don’t have time to design anymore but I still do get their prints, photo mugs for myself and family at Christmas. I just ordered their “free” 4x6 off the app, and I did before, I think I ordered about 100 before and paid 10$ in shipping, and I just ordered 250 for about 25$ shipping... so in the end its about 10 cents a print for pictures better quality than your going to get from a Walgreens... so that’s how I justify it.... but there is NO WAY that it costs 25$ to ship a stack of 250 small pictures? Seriously? Good quality but it’s just Annoying when you think your getting a great deal... you are just paying a reasonable price... same with their photo books and mugs... take your time and make it nice and only buy when the 40-50% sale is going for a reasonable price....
App crashed after I had worked hours on a photo book

I was making a photo book for my anniversary and it was a story about our dog that we had lost back in July. It was a rhyming story so it took a long time to create the story and the wording. I initially tried making the book online but for some reason in a browser you cant personalize your book very much. I’m not a fan of them making my books and I prefer to have control of my book and where all the photos, wording etc. Go. SO their website tells me that it’s a better experience in the app. So I download the app, spend HOURS making and customizing my photo book and then out of nowhere it crashes!!! But since there is no “save project” button in the app as you’re working it did not save my project. I literally cried and almost gave up. But since they were having a really good sale I pressed on hoping that I could finish it by the time the sale ends at 12 midnight. Finally I realized later that if I periodically add the project to my cart it saves the project. Thats kinda ridiculous to have to do every few minutes so that way if the app crashes you aren’t left to start from square one. For paying $60 for a photo book the whole experience was terrible!!!

I am so impressed with the selection different items from $5 dollars to beautiful pillows and blankets. Being a mother of 3 children and 12 grandchildren between my husbands children and my own to keep visible a framed picture current whether it be small or large picture. With finding the many many options I have on Shutterfly the older adorable funny pictures that I wanted to hold on and keep forever have turned into beautiful items in my home so that I now can keep up current school pictures and keep the rest of all the many treasured pictures still visible on a pillow on my couch to the coffee mug I drink out of. This allows me to have a lot more room to actually sit that treasured mug! Thank you Shutterfly for all the amazing free offers and the discount on everything else! With all the compliments I also know where my gifts for the adults whether free or on sale I know I can get my Xmas shopping done from the comfort of home!! Thank you Shutterfly Team!!
Solid App With a Few Bugs

This app does what it is supposed to do most of the time. I only use it to backup photos to the cloud. When uploading them, it keeps track of what pictures have been uploaded from your device with a small "S" in the corner of each photo. When you go to upload them, you can manually select each picture or press "Select All" to upload all the pictures not yet uploaded. However, a few days ago, for no reason at all the app signed me out of my account. No big deal, I signed back in. But, when I went to upload some pictures it said that none of the pictures on my device had been uploaded, even though they had. Now I have to manually go through and select the pictures I need upload instead of just pressing "Select All". It wouldn't be a big deal, but I have a few hundred pictures to upload and would prefer not having to manually select all of them. If you guys could fix that, I would really appreciate it.

When I received it the photos on one page were turned from upright to sideways and there was “default” wording on every page that said “Charlotte and Henry” that was not there when I previewed it. They offered another calendar that I would have to pay extra shipping for. The next time I did a calendar the app closed right as I finished and the project was not saved so I had to start over. I thought maybe it was my fault, but the last time I made one it saved on it’s own periodically and when I re-made what I had just finished I couldn’t find a a way to save it. If there is a way, it needs to be made more visible. While I usually love what I receive from Shutterfly, I am frustrated with my previous experience and not happy with the last thing I received. Hopefully I get exactly what I created this time around.

Absolutely love this company! I tend to order every year as a lot of my family live over seas and I send calendars and books as Xmas gifts. The products come out absolutely beautiful each time. They even resent me one of my orders because they saw that it might not get to me before Xmas and they wanted to make sure it did, so they reprinted and sent next day air mail so I would get it before Xmas. I didn’t even know it wouldn’t get there. Both packages arrived before Xmas and honestly I don’t know what more you can ask from a company. Recommend to everyone I know! Love love love! The one thing I always say to people is make sure you “preview” the items before buying. They will show you what it will look like and a lot of times you do have to move pics around to get it to look right. If you don’t do that it can come out a bit off and I can see how people can get upset, but it isn’t the companies fault that you didn’t “preview” before purchasing.

In total I spent at least 20 hours online trying to place an order. After customer service opened I called for assistance and spent another 2+ hours on the phone which provided me with NO assistance at all. Even after starting the entire process over with a supervisor, she didn’t know any more than me or the first customer service representative. My pictures are from 2017 (have been attempting to get this book for 2 years!!!!!!!! Every time, I have become so frustrated I had to get away from Shutterfly. After 20 straight hours I hsve finally submitted my order but I know it is. Or whet I want because it would not let me put in the pictures I wanted. I chose the option to have your team set up my books and was instructed to send all my pictures for the team to go through. Well, it wouldn’t accept them. Like I said, I have never worked so diligently at something for NOTHING to work right. It also said I would be contacted in three business days to review the books made by the team but it forced me to go ahead and make payment. My guess is they will send them exactly like they were loaded with no assistance put into it. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

I use Shutterfly for holiday cards and client gifts for my small pet service business. While they are expensive, I appreciate the quality and variation on gifts. When I choose a photo gift item, I want to make the same item for all my clients but with custom photos and name of their pet. I find it cumbersome because many settings, besides the actual photos, are the same. However, I cant save some of those and create a template to base the other ones from. There may be a way to do this, but I have always found it to be a headache. If I choose make a copy, and save the project with a different name, I have to be very careful to change all of the elements such as name of pet and photos from the last one I did. This last time, it was a stainless water mug and it defaulted to a size that I was not choosing so every time, I had to go back and change the size. A few almost slipped through but I caught it at checkout. A better workflow for multiple photo gifts would be great!

I have been hooked on making albums since I got back from our trip to Alaska. I really appreciate the 40% everything off, and most especially the free pages, because those additional pages can really rake up the cost of the album. I hope that Shutterfly will continue to give away all those promo codes because as long as they are available, I’m definitely going to be making more albums. The quality of each album produced by Shutterfly is excellent; from the cover to the pages itself. And that’s not just limited to the albums. I had the ability to order some coasters and they came out really good too. I only wish that they would allow us to order more than 100 photos. That’s the reason why I had to give it a 4 star instead of 5 star (I would give it 4.5 stars if there was an option for that). I understand that there has to be a limit or else everyone will be downloading 200 photos or more. Maybe Shutterfly would consider adding the maximum to 120.
I guess you get what you don’t pay for, as far as print quality is concerned.

The free prints from the app are a hit or miss. Could possibly be the megapixels on the cell phone camera. On the cell, the color looks fine, then when the prints come, it’s sometimes a little off. I don’t like the fact that I have to crop some of the photo out when editing the photo, when placing an order, because it doesn’t all fit in the frame provided. You can pinch the photo to make it smaller to fit and you can’t enlarge the frame either. I have done wedding invites, thank you cards and newborn announcements...all were beautiful and well done. My friends and family absolutely loved them. Even when Shutterfly mistakenly put through an order that wasn’t correct, they let me keep the messed up order and sent me the correct order. I def have no complaints about the deals that they provide. Except for the price of shipping on these free photos. Other than that, no complaints. I have orange envelopes all over my house.

I have to admit that it takes me awhile to figure some things out. Perhaps some options could be more user friendly, but once you get it down it’s so good. You have to be careful switching between mobile devices and desktop as features aren’t the same. You should create your projects on a desktop. You can upload from any device but the desktop version has the power you need to create. The good news is their customer service rocks. They will go the extra mile to make you excited about your order - even to helping you with features on your particular product or recommending options that will work well with your design if you ask for advice. I will use it again and again! Tip: Remember to always look at the Deals shown on the site when you first logon. Make note of the codes to use at checkout for free shipping or whatever the current offers are!

After many years of Shutterfly, I have to find a new company to make my calendar with. I am working on an iPad, with updated safari, but can not use the browser. I am forced to use this very unfriendly application version. I have made books and calendars with many edits, texts, styles and layouts. The app is missing so many features. Number one. I can not add new pictures without starting entirely over. As I work on a project I normally realize that I do not have enough shots of one person or a particular event and can easily add new. In the app, I can not delete from my choices for the calendar or add any new. The + sign does nothing. I can go back and select the, but any attempt to then choose the draft to edit is hung up. There is also no way to really crop pictures once selected. There is a window, but you can not change the size without finding a new layout. You can not manually move boxes. You can not add stickers. In prior years I could put a small picture on actually birthdays, but this is no longer available. What a shame that a good product has been ruined.

I’ve created 10 photo books or so on the Shutterfly Story app for my iPad. I really liked the options to customize layouts, text boxes, photo boxes & the ample backgrounds & stickers. But it seems those days are gone. My most recent book creation process was a pain because of the 100 photo limit that didn’t exist previously, & even when I deleted photos from my book to upload others, I kept getting a message that no more photos could be added. Another Pop up message was telling me that I couldn’t edit my book because the Story app wouldnt be available anymore but I could use the regular Shutterfly app. The problem is that this process is glitchy, & I had to create 6 “copies” of my book because the app wouldn’t let me edit because my book had been created in another app! I restarted completely in the other app thinking it would make it easier, but no, I kept having to create copies in order to get what I was satisfied with, which was less than I am accustomed to. My loyalty to this brand is wearing thin.
