Great.
No replies??
by Noizemetalworks on 2015/02/27 02:20
Can't read or edit replies. Uninstalled. Back to the web browser version.
Terrible
by Farleyk on 2015/02/27 02:06
Never lets you get the video clip or pictures they are referring to- I end up closing it out all the time and going to the actual yahoo website. What a waste of time.
Awful!!!! The worst!!!
by RGci on 2015/02/26 07:13
This went from being one of my favorite apps to the absolute worst! The format has changed completely, it is totally useless, can't open any of the categories, will be deleted. Want the old version back!
Need Yahoo Group access
by tcne on 2015/02/24 16:14
Got this to centralize yahoo group messages. No access. Will give 5 stars if this is integrated.

Doesnt let you e-mail stories 😕
by DJ Roxy on 2015/02/22 06:02
the Only thing this app Doesnt let you Do is E-Mail stories or yahoo posts to friends or family members and im not sure why this is? the developer of this app Needs to fix the e-mailing option on this app. All i or anybody else can do is copy news links, thats it. Needs an update that fixes the e-mailing option to where we All Can e-mail news links to our friends and family members.
Great!
by JasC18 on 2015/02/21 18:57
Great app!!

Thought it was just me
by Jimmyoblues on 2015/02/18 18:14
Talk about frustrating! Page through & article only to be cycled into oblivion (white screen of what was the article). Can only assume it has to do with NOT clicking on the "Like" icon imposed over the Next button. The moment I close the Like icon (which is a given option)- my screen goes blank white nothingness nada. Done with Yahoo. Will get my enews from other sources.
Stop forcing social media
by Dfarrey on 2015/02/17 10:47
This app used to be great until they forced you to post stuff to social media sites for their own advertisement. When looking through a list that you have to page forward on, you can only get through like three items before the app doesn't allow you to move forward unless you post. Disrespectful.
Horrible nagging app
by Tim Dion on 2015/02/16 02:36
Takes you from where you want to go to MAKE YOU GIVE A REVIEW. bad bad bad nag app.

Just stupid
by Ghcdjjvrrfcv on 2015/02/12 21:37
So you have an article that not only references but is completely about a video clip. All right! Let's see this video....oh wait yahoo is not smart enough to link the video that the article is about. Just simply stupid.
Wow
by Bht.bryan on 2015/02/10 15:19
Looks really nice, I like that you can add comments now. Good job!
Why won't yahoo fix their issues?
by ryan mccallum on 2015/02/10 00:35
I could love this app if they spent a little time fixing it: *articles talk about amazing video or pics and then no pics?! *some articles only half load (as of the latest update) *i prefer the previous version (before the latest update) but the change wouldn't cause me to go elsewhere. Yahoo; please fix these issues so I'm not forced to find my news elsewhere. I really like your app. I will give this app 5 stars as soon as they fix their issues.
Awful
by giveBLOODplayRUGBY on 2015/02/09 23:04
0 functionality, terrible app.
All good but one problem
by Ed Ch on 2015/02/09 03:24
Same account but can sync between different devices.
Great Concept/Poor Execution
by Coachpf on 2015/02/08 02:56
The app is great with regard to showing all the newest headlines, however a large portion of the articles fail to load ... This app is a great concept for those looking to take advantage of yahoo new however the execution of it is abhorrent as the headlines serve as teasers without any concrete links to the actual articles. This has been the case with all of the updates for iOS Z ... I expected an app that was fully functional from yahoo ... This app is very disappointing! Lastly, with the newest update as of 2/2015, my "boston" local news is all New York City feeds ... Nothing local at all ... Each update continues to make this app worse and worse.
Frustrating
by B4tjberry on 2015/02/08 02:28
New update cuts off the articles mid article. Completely annoying.
Error prone app is frustrating
by Wilyweir21ghks on 2015/02/07 18:50
I cannot count the number of times Yahoo's app does not load the pictures in articles. I have now starting seeing the comments section someone cover up the bottom of articles. So, I read an article and just as you get to the last paragraph the comments section blocks you from reading the ending. It has so many flaws they need a massive upgrade.
Very disappointing
by Bardman27 on 2015/02/06 23:56
There is nothing worse than reading a news story and get to the bottom of the page only to have the story cut out mid sentence. Unless it's not being able to play videos. Or not being able to look at pictures. I am so done dealing with this app. Seriously?!?
old version was better
by cig saddle on 2015/02/06 02:56
I used to love this app before the new update, but now it is very dull and boring. I rarely find myself using it and wish they would change it back or allow people to choose between the formats.
Unable to see full article
by Prog Employee on 2015/02/05 13:52
Great until the latest update. While scrolling through an article, the article is inevitably cut off, and the comments are seen instead of the last few sentences or paragraphs. I uninstalled the app
From bad to worse
by Tset on 2015/02/05 02:23
It seems like with every update this app just keeps getting worse. It constantly crashes, half the articles are cut off or just blank, and you never get to see the pictures in reference to the article.
Buggy
by Puck269 on 2015/02/04 21:30
App crashes frequently to become unusable. When it does work, stories tend to get cut off in the middle of the sentence and no way to view the full article. This last update seriously broke the app for the 4s.
Not working !
by tigerfeet2 on 2015/02/03 19:49
Yoohooo...anybody there? It's been awhile since the update, and no fix? Did anyone read the complains? Going with other news source...can't read half a story on all the news here.
Worthless
by Dr. Dreezy on 2015/02/03 13:13
This isn't news so much as it is a collection of worthless celebrity gossip and ads for junk products. Completely worthless for the intelligent person trying to stay abreast of real important current events.
Bad update, please bring bad the old yahoo news
by iamladyblahblah on 2015/02/03 06:46
Articles are cutoff. Difficult to navigate. Bring back the old, tried and true app. Please.
Why???
by Michrene'e on 2015/02/03 01:33
I don't like this new change. It was nothing wrong with the old update. This new one just messes everything up. Some of the news you can't get. The video doesn't work half the time. And if you have new news, it just interfere with what you're already read and video watching. Too many bugs. Change it back...
NO GOOD
by JiggamanJoseph on 2015/02/03 00:19
The new update for the app isn't good when I choose a story to read it only lets me read half the story or 2/3, all my favorites stories were deleted, and I truly just like the white and purple design better.
Who is liking?
by rssuser on 2015/02/02 20:33
I don't usually write but I can't believe so many stars on this app every 3 news there is a fake sponsor ad.
Thanks for the super bowl spoiler
by Zephyr411 on 2015/02/02 03:38
You guys blew it with me. "breaking news" iphone notification of the winner of the super bowl. Did you think that everyone that didn't watch it live didn't want to watch it at all. Deleted your app.

Love the new design! Nice work.
Needs improvement
by Sreekanth p on 2015/02/01 06:21
- New interface has ads the same size as that of news tiles. I feel older interface was good with ads - app crashed 3-4 times while using - why do I need to scroll till the end of article to share ? Providing those buttons at the end is good, but say I m half way through reading an article n thought of sharing, instead of scrolling till last , a single tap should display those share icons at bottom which makes it easier.
Much improved.
by ericmendo on 2015/02/01 06:16
I deleted this app a while ago before the update because it was horrid, mostly with links and videos not working. But the new update is much better. When I was trying to add a comment I did hit a glitch though. So just keep it working well and I won't delete again.

Too many "sponsored" stories
by Slue10701 on 2015/02/01 01:00
Every third story is a "sponsored" story (advertisement). Not worth the effort. Deleted the app.

by aengland818 on 2015/01/31 06:35

Annoying.
by Alexa Perlman on 2015/01/31 05:29
New update is horrible. Keeps scrolling back to the top when looking at picture sets. Hate it.
Can they ever get it right
by Campbell Runner on 2015/01/31 02:34
Sooooo frustrating. They have the format and all the content I want but it is always with bugs. Either they with spotlight a video, but they won't have access to the video when you click on the link. Then they will talk about a great picture or house on the market and have now pictures in their article. All they need is to link to the article in their stories, but it is usually only half the articles that do this. Soooo frustrating. After about 3 years of watching the interface change, I am finally forced to find another app to get my general news, sports updates and general info. Pleeeeease just finish the great products you have Yahoo instead of trying to do everything. You are so smart, yet so dumb at the same time.
Nice Formt
by Major Dad1211 on 2015/01/30 23:54
BUT...Several of the articles in the new and improved app are being truncated; cut off right before the array of useless social media icons.

WOW.
by Edgtuh34 on 2015/01/30 08:04
The new design is simply incredible. It's so fluid and engaging to read more news. Yahoo mobile team have made even ADs to look appealing. How is this even possible?? Amazing app. Look forward for future updates!!

App cuts off text so you cant read full stories.
by Vjlpougv on 2015/01/30 02:31
App always cuts off half the news article. New update makes it so you cant adjust word size which used to temporarily fix the problem, with new update theres no way to fix it.

Yahoo You do It Right!
by Rick 30 on 2015/01/29 10:10
I have This App. and I have a lot of other Apps, but what I can tell about your App, It is very well thought out compared to a lot of other Apps. I would like to see, what (if ever) you could do to a movie App creation,in your design of a App. RW
It's okay
by B. Prince on 2015/01/28 16:27
Besides the obvious things like • blank articles • poor breaking news notifications • sponsored articles showing up like every other article • and app instability I'd also like to point out the fact that there's no settings for the Notification Center widget. In other words, the app doesn't give me the ability to determine what kind of news I see in Notification Center. I honestly don't want to see Yahoo music, yahoo food, and yahoo makers (whatever the heck that is) in Notification Center. The gui is nice, but this app needs some fine tuning.
The Articles don't have the media
by Zero2Hero11 on 2015/01/26 03:29
Each article says "watch this video" or "look at this picture", but it is missing in the app. I have to manually copy the link by sending myself the article in a message. Then pasting the link in a browser to see the article's media. Waste of a mobile app. Really poor for Yahoo. I expect better from such a big company.
Fix it!
by Memeoo1 on 2015/01/25 15:42
So ANNOYED! Fix your glitches...every time I open the app there's something new to deal with. Also, when your article talks about a picture, include that picture. Arrgghh.
With some effort it could be mediocre
by BobSt1 on 2015/01/25 02:57
Details missing lots of articles. Crashes, photos missing, broken links. Poorly programmed
Articles load slow
by gdebt on 2015/01/24 16:26
The app is a good concept the problem is there are so many adds loading that they freeze fail and lock up often. Even on wifi at over 20mb download can't load everything on many pages. I realize adds pay for everything but they need simplified to work.
Ads Presented as News
by mhpdfp on 2015/01/24 02:26
"Sponsored" stories (ads) presented as news. Sad to see what Yahoo has devolved to.
What a joke
by Ryan Haney on 2015/01/22 17:56
If you are a left liberal hippy or consider celebrities outfits news then this is the place for you! This is a one sided view that seems to show a lot of anti american propaganda in my opinion. It is a complete waste of time for most hard working Americans.
Perfect news app

Never again Yahoo!
by flynlyons2 on 2015/01/20 16:12
The Yahoo! Weather app has been DESTROYED by adds. The adds even show up in the iPhone 6 drop down home screen. Not only am I removing the weather app, I'm removing this news app too due to adds.
Comments?
by Lauren Wred on 2015/01/19 20:07
Where are all the comments that used to follow every article? If I am unable to read/add to discussions regarding the material yahoo posts, I am uninterested in the app.
Big improvement by Yahoo!
by Funkv on 2015/01/19 05:52
The side-swipe navigation is a game changer for this app. Big step forward on everyday usability.
News Does Not Load, Crashes App
by Loraclap on 2015/01/18 13:43
Yahoo used to be my favorite app for news. Now if the location is news.yahoo.etc, the app not only crashes but causes iPad with IOS 8.2 to restart as well. Time to find another default news app. Too bad m
Not worth it.
by Mojowilson on 2015/01/14 09:39
There are several issues with this app. First, the app is prone to quitting randomly. Second, and most annoyingly, the articles are often missing the video or picture. You read the article or description, but can not find the content you have just read about. Very very VERY irritating. Lastly the articles don't update frequently, and when they do, articles from days before are back at the top of your list. I'm deleting this app.
No interaction
by STLPanther on 2015/01/14 01:33
The app takes some good advantage of native capabilities in ipad. Swiping through stories, magnify, etc. It lacks the interaction that you get in regular yahoo web. Where's the comment section and capability?
So frustrating!
by Rebeccasal on 2015/01/13 10:43
This app used to work for me but not pages go blank, they blink out. Not worth the trouble because it is so annoying. I Now go to other news sites and probably won't be back. Ugh!
Articles with photo slideshows???
by YourBad on 2015/01/12 10:54
Why have an article about best and worst dressed of an awards show and not have the slideshow in the article? Yahoo, you need to really make improvements if you want to be relevant again.
Negative notifications updates!
by kpringles2007 on 2015/01/10 03:26
Honestly Yahoo, all of my notifications that I received on my phone has been negative news. Everything is always about terror attacks and police shootings in every notification; never fails. News updates like these is not bringing joy to my day, it's just brings worries and fear.
What happened?
by Wheresalice73 on 2015/01/09 15:14
This little app was so good when I first started using it. Not sure if this last update is causing this this but after I scroll thru a couple of cities I have saved, it crashes. Please fix this!
So many issues
by Eschultz26 on 2015/01/06 00:20
Sure it's a fun way to get fluff news, but I'm so sick of stories with a "click link below" to access video/maps/charts, and there is nothing there, because yahoo just steals other sites articles.
Cool
by Dlgriffi on 2015/01/05 09:45

TOO MANY ADS
by GarageDoorDan on 2015/01/03 00:55
Too many ads. They are made to look like news stories. That's just wrong... No thanks. I'll just go back to google 😞
Ugh sponsored articles
by Bluescentric on 2015/01/02 23:19
Aside from the crashes and oddities that others have pointed out, the fact that every other "article" is sponsored content is both annoying and offensive. What reason do I have for a content app that just parades not-so-stealthy advertisements in my face? That makes me not trust your *real* content... or your company. Between that, the bugs and the "repeating first paragraph" issue, this is UNINSTALLED. But definitely get Yahoo Weather. Thats the only reason I decided to try this app. How disappointing.
No Yahoo groups
by Rocketmaker on 2015/01/02 03:45
Yahoo is trying but this app is not ready for most of us. I wanted to see yahoo groups and all this app wants to do is news in some form or another. The search is difficult to find making it difficult to navigate. Too bad.
Love It
by plumpone on 2014/12/31 11:53
Took some time but now presenting articles I am very interested in. Much better than anything else I've come across. Will keep using it... Hopefully it will get smarter and smarter. Great concept.
Skip
by Esan334 on 2014/12/29 21:46
It skips pages when going thru a list.
Irritation
by MichelleSyb on 2014/12/29 04:05
Yahoo it's time for you to get a clue. The only reason I'm downloading this so that I can occasionally read articles. Next, I'm changing my browser of choice. I would not have, but it is infinitely annoying that this app is recommended every time I open your browser. Also, if you post anything truly in contrast to the belief of the yahoo leadership ideology, you ensure there's no ability to comment. Great way to keep yourself safe in a one way communication bubble.
Skips and blanks
by Cnderle on 2014/12/28 16:40
EVERY 'list' article skips all of the even posts and shows only the odd. Articles also load with blank spaces in the middle while the text and photos at the beginning and end are fine. I tried deleting and re-installing but it hasn't helped.
Crashes
by AAhitman on 2014/12/27 13:23

Skipping articles.
by Rowegarth1 on 2014/12/26 02:20
Apart from the fact that often times this app will just close in the middle of reading an article, there is a problem when you open any article supplied by the website "Answers". When I am reading through the articles, which are usually lists, the article will skip items. For example it will display the first article, number 1, and when you click on next, it jumps from number 1 to number 3, with no stop at two. It has happened on numerous occasions. Fix that and I will give a higher rating.
Great
by Pppshh on 2014/12/25 02:09
Best app ever
Blank Pages
by PCHomepage on 2014/12/23 18:32
Many articles appear when selected, then the first couple paragraphs of text disappears before even a word or two can be read, leaving a plain white page, then it picks up mid-sentence farther down. Very annoying.
I don't like this app.
by Greengale on 2014/12/23 04:54
I check yahoo web all the time. But not this app.
Calendar function is sooooo frustrating!!!!!
by balesk on 2010/01/24 21:43
I am a very devoted Yahoo! user. I love my tool bar, email, contacts list the full screen web browser version of Yahoo's calendar and alerts. I was hoping to use the Yahoo! iPhone app for my calendar so that I would have access to it both on my desktop and iPhone. Yes, I can access my calendar events on my iPhone, but I don't understand why there is no full month view?! If I want to add or view an event several months in the future, I have to move forward from today to that moment, but WEEK BY WEEK. So I have to wait for each week to load before I can move forward to the next week, and so on and so on. This is soooooo slow and frustrating. I realize that this is a free app. I realize that it is a mobile app. But, Yahoo!, please, please consider adding the FULL MONTH VIEW (a calendar page where you can see the number of each day of the month and move quickly from month to month)to your mobile app so your loyal followers aren't forced to look to other providers. Otherwise, the app is great.
Want to be able to quickly email news stories
by Scottie Karate on 2009/09/26 04:10
I generally really like this app. I use it everyday and is the second app I check after Facebook. I use it most for browsing news stories and checking my "my yahoo" page. My only gripe is occassionally I'll come across a news article that I want to email or share, but ther is no easy way of doing that from within the app without having to launch the safari link, copy the link and then launching either Email, Mesages or other app and pasting it into there before sending.. It would be great if at the end of articles there would be a share or email button that would launch the Messages or Email app and would automatically paste the article's title in the subject line and link in the body. Other apps have this option (ei. New York Times app). I couldn't find a way to easily notify Yahoo! Of this omission/suggestion, so I hope someone from Yahoo!'s app development is reading this.
Why Safari?
by tsmelker65 on 2009/06/09 01:10
I thought this free app was a home run, until it started telling me I had to view my Yahoo Mail in Safari instead of just displaying it right in the app itself. Why 'fix' it if it wasn't broken? I thought it was a glitch- until I downloaded the updated version and discovered it still does this same stupid trick! It takes nearly 3 times as long (depending on your connection) to launch Safari to view my mail. If I wanted that, I would have used Safari in the first place and just ignored this app. And I don't like the new formatting for the Safari version of Yahoo Mail anyway. Yahoo needs to rectify this soon by reverting to "Mail within the App"; otherwise I'll delete this app and go back to Google mail. I can't imagine ANY Yahoo Mail user- hardcore or casual user- that is happy with this "fix". Pay attention to the desires of your users, Yahoo!
Decent app but so many annoying problems
by Skye Lars on 2014/11/27 19:52
I use this app daily to get a summary of news information. Unfortunately, the functionality has degraded over time and there are many problems. The news articles are not always the most recent, but rather repeated article from the day before even if I have read them. Sometimes the same set of news posts get recycled mutiple times per day. I also notice that posts accessed on my iPad do not render completely. Sometimes they come up blank or display an "Oops" message saying the page is missing. Other times, the news item displays and then part of it dissappears, or a section is missing at the end. It's easy enough to shutdown the app in iOS and reopen the post to get the full article, but what a lame way for an app to work! Another problem is that news items refer to a list that is not included so you figure it got mangled somehow. The feedback on types of news to include or block does no good at all. You get what Yahoo wants you to see... Everything.
Excellent

Read the title. Read it out loud. With some energy now. That's what this app is. For the reveiwer that gave a 1-star review because they couldn't see their msn contacts, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?!?!?! You can't give a 1-star review because an app doesn't have a feature it didn't mention in the description! At least give four stars! (and besides, they're two different companies) Worry about more significant stuff, like the speed of the mail part, which is why I gave four stars. Yahoo!, please speed that up a bit. It's inconvenient and slow to close the app, search through nine pages of apps for "Mail," and then open it up on an Edge connection. Until you do that, I'm keeping this review at four stars. Also, please make the news part openable within the app rather than requiring a new page in Safari, which is annoying, and takes away from the blazing fast speed of this app.
Great App - needs some help though
by theedge103 on 2013/08/05 13:46
Maybe it's because I am a product manager and can be picky about certain products but this app seems like it needs some finishing touches. Many claim they hate the scrolling to a next story feature, I like it but it could use a settings menu to adjust sensitivity or disable for those who do not like it. I imagine there is some Summly tech in there but that program was not quite polished even though it was good. Some times the title of the story does not match the content and the main thing that bugs me about this app is that other stories require a click on the story then a click on the next screen to take you to the story, why can't you figure out how to skip the interim screen? Finally, when you have a story based around a photo, most of the time the photo is cropped where the story focus is not seen or worse no photo is part of the story at all. It is similar on video, give me the option to turn video stories off, I would rather read than get a video version of the story. That said, I enjoy the app, it is on the first screen of my iPhone and I use it ahead of apps like Flipboard. Yahoo is working in the right direction for mobile (go invest! :) ) with the latest Fantasy Football, Weather and Flickr apps and should not be discounted from other giants like Facebook and Google. Also, please make an iPad version!
Horrible application changes
by mikobsmith on 2012/08/16 22:23
This application was so much better when all it let you do was check your email. Now there's nothing but garbage on it, and there are constantly bugs. I've had to redownload this app about seven time. It's constantly signing you out, and about every third email you try to respond to or send you get an error message saying cannot complete go to your outbox we need to prove your human being, then you have to enter chain of letters and numbers in order for the program to verify you're a human being. Sometimes you have to do this over and over and over before it will finally let you send the email. Occasionally, I've lost the email. They need to stop that process. It's supposed to cut down on spam, all it does is frustrate the real user. When you're sending an email to one of the your contacts, it's not spam, and when you reply to an email, it's not spam, so why are they trying to make you "verify you're a human being". I still get about 10 spam a day. Old program was much better.

I skimmed, barely, 3 articles. Doesn't sound fair, does it...for me to dismiss Yahoo as "Not For THIS Awesome Lady," on so little research? When you've lived THIS long, & read leftist crap (that IS my being polite) in print the last 30 years, another's view "too far left" is easily believable. Today's popularized take on what USED to be news, is an insult to my intelligence & a disservice to our youth-who are capable enough to develop sound views without your constantly pervading opinions. The only thing wrong with today's youth are the crazy opinions they develop by sometimes believing your insanely inadequate rhetoric presented as fact. And them you dare call ME rigid and old-fashioned. May God bless the generations left with our political mess. BTW, NO ONE could have settled our country down and appropriately guided all of us to focus on our routines AND each OTHER HALF as effectively as our "bumbling" then-President GWBush. He has yet to be credited for the modeling of honesty, grace and hope that had yet to be witnessed since Abraham Lincoln. Just try. I won't be reading it anyway. Amy Bethel
Pleasantly Surprised!

After using the crappy Yahoo! oneConnect app on my iPhone, I was skeptical about the new Yahoo! app. After using this new app, I am bidding farewell to both the Google and oneConnect apps. The new app is very clean and easy to navigate. The new theme for Yahoo! seems to be synergy, and from what I can see, they have a very good start. In particular, the "My Interests" tab is very cool. I am also very pleased with the apps integration of Yahoo! Calender and Mail. I like the integration of Facebook, Myspace, etc, but for the time being, status and photo updates are the only thing you can view; hopefully with time that will change. Yahoo! oneSearch is okay, but not anything like Google Search. All-in-All, I think Yahoo has done a great job with their new app, and I hope newer/better upgrades are in its future.
Better Calendar feature PLEASE!
by BigLOU_77 on 2009/05/21 09:52
How a about making the calendar more mobile friendly for a change!!! I'll tell you, one of the worst things to want on the iPhone is a decent calendar. No app has done it right yet. I like to use my Yahoo! calaendar and was hoping that this app would eventually make the online version more functional for a mobile application. I don't expect alot out of web-site calendars. They don't need to be too user friendly for up-to-the-minute changes. But it would be nice for yahoo to make one. And it comes so close. Why no monthly view? How about a boxed calendar view? Up coming events reminder when the app opens? I think these are easy things to add. I'm not asking for sms or phone reminders (although it's an idea), and I know this isn't primarily a calendar app. But I think it has a long way to go to be called a good app. I could just use safari, but should I have to? I know it's free, but they can do ALOT better.
So confusing and horrible
by jonathan. on 2010/02/27 03:31
This app is horrible. There are so many tabs of nonsense. One tab has features that take you to websites within the app. Other links force you to open in Safari and quit the app. You can link to things like Facebook and Twitter but it doesn't do much. There are two tabs of news. There is no way to add your Yahoo bookmarks to this app anywhere, you have to type them all over again. Um...why? This app is a disaster. At least allow syncing with my Yahoo bookmarks. As of now it's just a lot of news and other features that make little sense. Will this take me to Facebook? Will this open within the app or ask me to close and go to Safari? Who knows, it's multiple tabs of confusion. Some things open in the app, most other things make you leave the app and Yahoo services like calendar and bookmarks aren't even integrated well. Go back to the drawing board. This app is the yahoo mobile website, with a lot if added bloat and mess. Horrible, horrible app.
Terrible
by TDHinTPA on 2014/01/15 04:17
I downloaded this app originally several months ago, got so frustrated that I deleted it. I enjoy the stories on My Yahoo on my computer so I thought I would try installing this app again, on hopes the developers actually read the reviews and attempted to improve it. Nope, still a crappy app that doesn't work correctly. Half the time you start reading a story and touch the "continue reading" link or arrow and there is no more story! Or, you select an article to check out the picture from the "teaser" and there is no picture in the article. Also, it interrupts your reading to poll you "more articles like this"? Your only choice is yes or no. Most of the articles I just read. I don't necessarily want more of them, but I also don't want them to not show me them anymore either. Problem is, If you say "no" (don't show me more like this), it tells you it will stop showing those kind. Too many frustrating issues, gonna have to delete - AGAIN.
This app can be better
by Jf Brooks on 2014/07/11 19:02
I love the stories and news feed, it nearly the best way to get updated on all the events from sports, news, entertainment, etc. but I have so many issues with this app. 1. There's a button where you can choose to show less stories about this topic (ex. The kardashians, I could care less if they bought a new mansion, I don't want to see those stories) so I press that button, the next day, I'll get more kardashian stories. I've pressed that button for other irrelevant topics but that button never works. 2. The timeline is always weird, it constantly switches the stories around. For instance, it showed at the top that "Lebron still hasn't made the decision yet" then two stories below it, it shows "Lebron is returning to Cleveland" it's not in chronological order. I still have stories showing from last week!

Have this problem. Went to the apple store where they downloaded a yahoo app. I did get yahoo back through the app but not safari. This worked for a little while, now my iPad is telling me that I do not have enough storage. Apparently when they put the new yahoo app on my iPad they forgot to delete my yahoo mail in safari. Now my iPad is frozen because of lack of storage. I can't get into settings, or any apps. My iPad is useless until I find out how to access my settings and delete the safari yahoo mail. Anyone know how I can do this? The message says, Not Enough Storage This iPad cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available. You can manage your storage in settings. The problem is it will not let me select the options it is giving me. 1) close 2) go to settings. iPad is frozen and useless. Not too happy right now!!!!!!!!!
Good, but some fixes are needed
by ttzshee39 on 2014/06/23 16:04
A good app. Although the app could fix some things. Such as, when new stories appear, sometimes you can manually refresh for new news, while other times the app automatically refreshes the app for new news. I'd prefer the manually eat over automatically refreshing. Also, when reading an article, whenever I accidentally swipe to the left or right, another article appears, when I swipe back to the article I was reading, it does not return me to the part of the article I was last reading before the accidental swipe. The app could remember which part of an article you were last reading and return you to that part.
Terrible app design - no thought to how people would actually use this
by sig the nomad on 2011/10/25 14:14
I don't often spend time harping on how useless apps are, but I thought I'd spend a moment venting my frustration at the poor design of the yahoo app on the off chance a developer or someone there at yahoo will take notice. I think most people probably use this app for mail of sports. I downloaded to have access to additional Yahoo Mail features that I cannot access thought iPhones interface. So why, I ask you, would you put the "send" button at the top of the mail section, in an area that scrolls out of view as you type more info into the body of the email? Moreover, why would you have a "done" button right above that that doesn't scroll? And even if you were just trying to keep you design simple, why wouldn't you add a feature to say "are you sure you want to stop composing this message without sending it?" when someone (me) hits the "done" button when I intended to hit the "send" button - I mean they are RIGHT next to each other. I find this type of lazy design in a lot of Yahoo's products. There is a reason your stock price is dipping. Stop creating useless features no one wants and focus on producing a superior product that serves a niche clientele. And stop messing with Sportstacular - it was fine the way it was.

I loaded this freeby for one purpose...to load my Yahoo Address Book in order to avoid the excrutiatingly slow syncing with iTunes. Y! loads only about a 10th of my 700 plus address records. It seems to choke to a stop when it reaches records that start with a numeric character...like 1Click, which is a company name. Another feature I thought would be useful is loading my Yahoo Calendar. Unfortunately, the best it can do is one week at a time...in sequence. So to check my calendar for December, I need to advance more than 26 weeks...one week at a time. And the touch point to do that one-week advance is not very good...requing multiple touches to get the calendar to advance one week. Y! would certainly fill a need...to sync the iPhone with Yahoo Address Book and Calendar...if it did those functions right. I'd recommend waiting until Yahoo fixes these shortfalls before bothering with this app.

About 3 months ago I could not get to my e-mail costing me thousands in my work. AT&T the joint carrier for a change was a doll but every time we changed the password changed and the log-on was acceptable we would end up at Yahoo with x message akin to I was a hacker and blocked. They never answered my calls or AT&T's for this matter and when they finally spoke to my top attorney who was handling 600 cases like mine they blamed it all on AT&T then finally admitted they were changing browsers and had some trouble. Funny thing. The new browser is Bad Bad Bad. Stay away from them. Use Google Firefox even small-time browsers you check out even MS Explorer.

What were you thinking?
by SharyLee on 2011/08/16 16:49
I could look up anything, anytime, anywhere, and now, i sit and watch the little wheel spin and spin while I wait and wait. At a dinner party with friends, I could look up information, checkout wikipedia, or get info on the latest movies. not I sit and and watch the little wheel spin and spin while I wait and wait. What was wonderful about you is now gone. I have apps that give me news, you were my link to information, to local restaurants and businesses; now I can't even access that information in any sort of timely way. I am now loking for another app that will connect me to the internet and you will be deleated from the face of my iphone. Sorry. I loved you but you changed. I hoped it was temporary, I hoped you would come back to me, but you thought you know what I wanted, when all the time I wanted what you already had. I miss you. But you will be replaced.
Update has made it slow and unusable
by JA_player on 2011/09/17 21:09
Why did they have to spoil a good app? Don't bother with the 2.0 update. it takes forever to render even the first screen! Then it is unusably slow and irresponsive. I have gone from using it everyday to not using it at all! Update: 2.0.1 is equally slow... Don't think they fixed anything. Obviously they need to get more competent developers!! Even tried uninstall and reinstall. Didn't help :( finally just deleted the app. Too bad it went from being the first app I ran everyday to being unceremoniously kicked off my device!! Update 2: It has been over a month now.... everyone is pretty much saying this is a bad update... makes it unusable... any other company would have deployed more resources to fix it asap.... and still no response from Yahoo! Yup, their team needs to be dumped and replaced. no wonder the whole company is going downhill... in a hurry!
FINALLY got email to work
by Slarty Bartfast on 2012/04/26 17:53
I got the app solely to access my Yahoo mail, and it won't let me sign in. ("Sing-In Problem"? Really, Yahoo?) Update: This app is a JOKE!! I followed their instructions for problems with signing into Mail, and deleted and then reinstalled the app. No improvement. So again I followed their instructions and used the Help icon. But when I started trying to provide them with their requested diagnostic info, THE TEXT ROLLED OUT OF VIEW AND COULDN'T BE RETRIEVED!!! You know an App has serious QC issues when even their Help screen doesn't work properly!! Update: After farting around with the app for a WHILE, I tried signing into the ACCOUNT section (off the main screen) rather than trying to sign directly into my email account. This worked, and allowed me to access my email from the main screen icon. But nowhere (that I could find) was this explained to users. Add to that the fact that an email-only sign-in screen is offered for those who just want to use the email function, but which apparently can't get you into email if you aren't already signed in at the main screen, and the app has to be considered, at the very least, confusing.
more hype than substamce
by amcsi on 2010/05/22 05:20
In typical Yahoo fashion, the first three tabs are nothing other than news, most of which are "sensational" news rather than "informative" and meaningfully accurate. The only positives about this app is the occasionally functioning IM which is cross platform and the customization features (sadly same poor quality news). There are just way too many higher quality alternatives for multi platform IM's and news feeds for this app to be useful and for everything else its a Safari pop-up window which males having this app in place of bookmarks obsolete. My review would change if Yahoo's good stuff was accessible through this app or even through Safari consistently like Fantasy sports, games, etc. especially given how easily those things could be achieved. Come on Yahoo finish what you started, make it stable and mobile friendly...

Recent update destroyed this app
by Jeffro59 on 2014/04/21 01:44
This was my goto app for news. I have several others but preferred this one unquestionably. A recent update makes it really annoying. I previously enjoyed being able to scroll through a small thumbnail photo and the headline in small text so that I could find what I wanted to read more detail on. There were about 8-10 stories on each iPhone screen page. Now, each story takes up 2/3 of an iPhone page. Which means ALOT of scrolling. Very annoying. On top of that, it seems like the same stale stories are showing up every time I check in on the app, which is 2-3 times a day. Guess I will go back to the AP News app instead. Whomever the author is should allow the end user to adjust this story preview size setting. Within a week if it's not changed I will have to delete the app. Shame.
Yahoo news isn't all news.
by Ftzwtr on 2014/09/28 22:37
Article headers are often misleading. Tapping "read more" frequently takes you nowhere. Just this morning opened an article with the heading "Football injury leads to shocking discovery". Opening that took me to an article about Halloween costumes and some other unrelated stuff I didn't read. Yahoo needs to check their work before tossing it out there. I'm also tired of seeing "10 new stories" at the top of the page, tapping only to discover 3 new stories, 2 "sponsored" ads and 5 old articles with new headlines. Just say 3 new stories please and don't eat up time and battery reposting articles I've already read. The experience would be better if, for example, the map of the Middle East could be enlarged. This is mobile, right? Nothing on the map on my screen is big enough to see so the impact is lost.
Good start
by shogut on 2009/05/02 22:47
Here's my list of wishes: - Add the features already included for contacts in OneConnect. - MyYahoo content should be based on the feeds on my "MyYahoo" page; not be a separate list. - The calendar should include shared events and have a user setting for a default view - Messenger (and the standalone program) should be able to add people from my contact list - There's some redundancy in the structure. It seems like you can access the same thing three different ways - Since there is so much content crammed into one app, it would be nice if you could turn some features off to clean up the listings if you're not going to use them. If the content was tied more to MyYahoo page (synced or at least accessible) it would help with this.
They don't let us choose which top three we want, and zero support/feedback if you have a problem.
by pacific on 2009/06/30 03:24
There is ZERO tech support / feedback for this App. I clicked on "Yahoo Support" and it goes to a link for the regular Yahoo computer website. Nothing for the App! They need to enable in the settings for the App the ability to choose which three categories you want at the top. Right now it defaults to Business, Entertainment, and Sports. You have zero choice! Terrible! What about headline news? World news? U.S. News? Nope, nope, and nope! You have to scroll down and click on extra links to see anything else. The option for the top three needs to be in the Settings for the App. Two stars. This App was not well thought out.
App Is A Great Step 

So far the layout of the App is awesome. I wouldn't have thought to  for this. I was a little worried  about Yahoo before and stuff that was in the news. This App alone has strengthened my confidence in the company. I am too over joyed . I can see a strong future because of the strong vision  that was behind this App. It just could use a few more tweaks . I was using the news feature this morning, while I was on the phone, and everything froze . I had to do a restart. Next I love the new email options that we now have . But the address book doesn't allow for editing or adding contacts. That . The address book also is sort by first, last only. No preferential choice.
Absolutely miserable
by Jaimepants on 2014/01/22 01:00
I use Yahoo for business, and I cannot fathom the amount of business I have lost because people don't get my emails. This app is stupidly confusing, (and I am an intelligent person). Every time I send someone an email, it randomly goes to the wrong person for no apparent reason. When I try to refer back to old emails that contain important addresses for job sites, it CONSTANTLY tells me "failed to download message". If I had a dollar for every time I saw that error message is would be RICH. I can't tell you how many phone calls I've gotten from brides wanting to book me for their wedding who say "I never got an email back from you." I AM LOSING BUSINESS BECAUSE OF THIS STUPID APP. I wish I could use my gmail account but my yahoo email is on my website, my business cards, my account on TheKnot, etc. Please fix this.
Good, overall. A LOT of inexperienced contributors.
by billyhill1972 on 2014/09/07 22:22
The two Biggest problems are the HUGE amount of typos, misspellings and inexperience of the writers, in general. Lately, there have been quite a bit of reporting that is completely wrong, or in some cases, contradicting itself in mid article. Secondly, MOST of the time, you cannot click through to the articles it was supposedly inspired by. Also, it would be nice to be able to reply about these inaccurately reported "facts", by your contributors that are clearly biased to one side, or the other. I love the access, I just hate to have fact check the things in some of these articles. A lot of the stories are just that, stories, NOT news articles.
Kinda useless...
by mgmros on 2013/12/13 05:30
...if the articles are incomplete. The photo on the header of the article is cool-looking, but doesn't show the whole photo which again makes the app useless. Photos paint a thousand words... so put some in the body of the article! I had to click on the "share" button, copy link, open a browser, then paste link for the complete article also to find out that there are more photos on a lot of the articles. Why can't they all be seen on the Yahoo! app? If you purposely chose to limit what is shown on the app, can you at least add a quick link to open the original article in a browser instead of copying link, opening a browser then pasting? Wait, I changed my mind. If you can't show the complete article on the app, just forget it. It's just useless at that point.
Needs work
by Les Patton on 2013/12/07 04:34
This app has gone from kind of okay to completely terrible. Now when clicking on a story and thinking you're going to get to read the whole thing, you might get a fragment of the story and then are left hanging. Not to mention if the story is in video form you might think that you're getting in entertainment story and end up watching a yahoo video on how to make a vegetable centerpiece. If you're going to claim to be an app where I can access the news, please create an app which will allow me to actually access the entire news story. Please, what you're doing is actually doing nothing more than wasting the data that I have to pay for each month. Please don't make me resent and delete you. I swear all these five-star reviews must be from the spouses of the developers.
Good, for the price...
by Jmart388 on 2014/05/01 15:02
App will get you through boring periods of times where you may find a few interesting stories to thumb through to kill some time, but hardly a "real" news app with yahoo company writers and the long incessant list of things you care nothing to read or know about. What would make this a better app, at least for me, is the option to post my unnecessary opinion about how i would live my life and how you should not be living yours (comments) in through the mobile app. So far you can only do this through desktop. You can check email, save sites and the basic. Dont expect miracles as many as us do, its a mobile app not a desktop site.
???

It's a little bit glitchy in the fact you have to randomly completely close the app to get back into the in box from viewing certain emails. Doesn't sound that bad but when you have dozens if not hundreds of emails in your in box and your trying to view past messages it becomes a problem to have to close the app and scrowel back threw to find where you left off. Hard enough working with a small screen. Plus you can't delete messages while viewing them ?? There's an icon to click but no action. I have to push the edit button and the flip threw pages to find the one email I want to delete. Other than that its great
Fine, but annoying
by Concerned mama on 2013/02/22 14:55
The app works fine. I pretty much use it just for mail on my iPhone. Two pet peeves, however, while using the app to check my mail I always get a screen that asks if I want the app for my iPhone. Good grief!! I'm already USING the silly thing! The second most annoying thing is this: after I've scrolled down and loaded several pages of emails to get where I need to be, once I actually read the email and go back to my inbox, it automatically takes me to the top again. If after reading the email it would go back to the same place I was, that would be so great. Fix the constant asking for something I obviously already have, beautiful!
It's a downgrade!!!
by Shanying on 2012/09/09 07:01
Last version worked almost perfectly after Yahoo's multiple attempts to provide a useful app for iPhone users. Email is the feature, I think, why most people still stick with this app and Yahoo service as a whole. Now it opens email in Safari with this version upgrade. Why do we still need this app then? This upgrade is a downgrade to me. Another bug with the email in the old version: if you have a folder with some emails, you can't batch edit those emails by deleting or spam them ALL together. If you do so, those emails will be deleted or spammed as you wish. But you will be stuck there with all the options grayed. You can't go back to check email in other folders or do anything with the email unless you quit, close, and relaunch the app.
OK
by apevny on 2010/04/15 04:56
The app is decent with good stories, the main "Featured" page loads very slowly though even on WiFi. The most notable issue that bugs me is, why do some stories load within the app's own safari browser while some ask to open the full safari web browser? It seems to me that they should all load within the app except for videos. It's very annoying to have it open the new browser window, read the story, close the browser, and go open up the yahoo app again. I will note a few image optimizations on the "Featured" page and transitioning the stories to all open locally within the app and the star rating would easily be 4-5 stars.
If you don't need this app, DON'T GET IT!
by Lindseymnelson on 2012/07/17 15:42
I love omg! but I cannot read the full articles on some of the stories. It will not let me scroll down and sometimes I can't even scroll through pictures. Please fix bc I love the yahoo! app. I had to take away two stars bc this app is giving Yahoo, a trusted website a bad rap. Where do all my emails go that I DO NOT personally delete? Sometimes they are there, and then I go to look at them again and they are gone! Also, sometimes when I go to delete emails, it will check one I did not check and delete it. I know this bc I will check my trash and there will be a very important email in there I didn't delete. Fix this, or I will unsubscribe to yahoo and go with your competition for email!
Frustrating at times
by Daddy Jason on 2013/06/18 14:18
I like the fact that this app has a number of news articles/headlines. What I find frustrating: When I click on the article to read it based on the headline, I'm redirected to another page that may or may not have a complete article or picture as indicated by the headline. Example: Headline, "Talk about a purr-fect mistake". After clicking on the headline I am redirected to the actual article (not a big deal) which describes a graduates funny cake where the bakery put a cat instead of a cap on her picture on the cake. There is a picture....but the cat cap is cut off and no where is there a link to the actual picture. This happens way to often....
Nothing worth reading
by tr42_0151 on 2014/04/27 03:36
I used to read yahoo news because it would Keep me up to date on current news. While I'm not saying that it still doesn't. But yahoo news has been consistently become overrun with nonsense articles about stuff that nobody would ever really care about. There's plenty of actual news out there to report without having to use these filler stories. Also you will see the same stories being recycled every 6 months or so. But my biggest complaint has got to be yahoo's biased news reports towards advancing they're liberal agenda. So be careful reading reading from this sight, you are being brainwashed into believing our current government is actually helping us. Stick to another news sight. I will now delete the yahoo app
Good, but too much in one app
by SVKinAZ on 2009/04/01 06:38
There are parts of this app that are very well done, but I don't understand Yahoo's insistence on bundling everything into one single app. I would much prefer to have separate apps for Yahoo News, Yahoo Messenger/OneConnect, Yahoo Mail & Calendar, etc. To combine them all in one makes the app a bit hard to navigate. Also, some of the better features of Yahoo OneConnect seem to be removed. Although I can aggregate almost any social network using this app, it's not as easy as Yahoo OneConnect. I have a feeling most people won't use this app simply because it includes way too much instead of just the Yahoo services they need or want.
Comments section disabled
by Big Money Wells on 2014/07/11 03:58
Yahoo used to be my number choice for news for two reasons. Aside from the good selection of stories I always found the comments section to be equally entertaining because it put a news event in "full perspective". However, this app doesn't allow a user to view the yahoo comments section of an article. In fact, none of the links in the app do. This makes their news boring. In fact, as of 2014 I've found many yahoo articles viewed from a mobile browser now disable the comments section entirely. Desktop computers are the only place where I can still view the comments section. It would be great if Yahoo brought this function back. Can't stand the censorship
New update is a slight improvement
by Pilothunter on 2011/10/26 13:32
The latest version is somewhat improved in speed an use ability. That's not to say it is without problems. But now I can finally think about using this app again. Videos render properly most of the time. The yahoo today is visible news feeds appear correctly and quickly. However the app still crashes from time to time. Add banners obscure navigation and it is not immediately apparent that you can scroll around the blocking ads. Splash screens say you can do certain things when in fact you can't. But overall better than any version before. Review edited due to crashing. Why can't yahoo get this right?
Poor upgrade losses capability
by L_J_B_C on 2013/05/01 23:44
This "upgrade" is terrible, they have removed most functionality, and just turned it into a launcher for other Apps and filled it with over the top fancy pictures and useless design. It's impossible to read stories, incredibly slow off wifi, and keeps locking up. For Email it launches A separate Yahoo Mail app. If I wanted to use That app would go to it myself. Same with messenger, the tool bar just tries to launch the messenger app. Why not at least make this a setting I can choose? We need and expect a single integrated App that lets us get to all our Yahoo accounts simply and easily and manage them there. This is a classic case of form over Function. One of the worst App GUIs I have ever seen.
Faster and has continual list of articles.
by Ladyaleung on 2013/05/16 02:14
I do still miss the classic look, only because its what I've been used to all these years. The new look works and is actually more practical as it allows me to quickly scan more info in a shorter period of time. The list of news just keeps going unlike the older version. It can also toggle back and forth between articles quickly without disruptive wait time. Great job! Only recommendation is for users to be able to modify the type of view settings they choose.
Design better, still don't get it
by tm.frmk on 2009/06/19 02:35
This is, I guess, a step forward for Yahoo. It looks decent and doesn't crash all the time. And it's customizable. But that's about it. No means to share news stories, "read only" access to social network services, and constant push to Safari equals fail. Why read a Twitter entry on the Yahoo app? Can't access the link inside the app and have to close the app and open another to respond, retweet, whatever. They're still fundamentally missing the point on what users want to do from an app - especially one that's trying to consolidate multiple services. They need to concentrate on getting the Yahoo stuff right and drop the social network consolidation. Still spreading the peanut butter too thin....
Why should I need this???
by FLewis (SPEEDY) on 2010/12/02 04:16
Why would you need this app if there's already a built in email application and you can sync your address book and calendar using iTunes to yahoo? The standard stuff works pretty well except for the fact that on the calendar it forgets that you set an alert for an event, and on the computer (and sometimes on my iPhone), it randomly duplicates contacts instead of updating the ones you already had on your phone or computer. If yahoo could just fix those 2 issues that it has with syncing to an iPhone than there would be no point for this app.

Terrible
by Farleyk on 2015/02/27 02:06
Never lets you get the video clip or pictures they are referring to- I end up closing it out all the time and going to the actual yahoo website.

Great!

Just stupid
by Ghcdjjvrrfcv on 2015/02/12 21:37
So you have an article that not only references but is completely about a video clip.

So just keep it working well and I won't delete again.

by Slue10701 on 2015/02/01 01:00

Nice Formt
by Major Dad1211 on 2015/01/30 23:54
BUT...Several of the articles in the new and improved app are being truncated; cut off right before the array of useless social media icons.

by Vjlpougv on 2015/01/30 02:31

Blank Pages
by PCHomepage on 2014/12/23 18:32
Many articles appear when selected, then the first couple paragraphs of text disappears before even a word or two can be read, leaving a plain white page, then it picks up mid-sentence farther down. Very annoying.

Everything.
Excellent
by Joethegamer on 2009/04/24 01:41
Read the title.

Amy Bethel
Pleasantly Surprised!
by daniel.jacob on 2009/04/10 00:09
After using the crappy Yahoo! oneConnect app on my iPhone, I was skeptical about the new Yahoo!

App Is A Great Step 
by Cingulair on 2009/04/17 22:57
So far the layout of the App is awesome.
???
by Zzfzź on 2013/02/18 00:24
It's a little bit glitchy in the fact you have to randomly completely close the app to get back into the in box from viewing certain emails.
