not able to load iReal Pro attachment by pressing & holding
by BigbirdMando on 2019/12/16 03:54
After the quick response from iReal Pro support, my initial review issue below is not an issue. I just had ro learn to scroll lright to see the option to share incoming iReal Pro attachment files to to iReal Pro app on my device, and it tells you where to find the attachment within the app. So I upgraded this rating to 5 stars, and couldn’t be happier with it! Thanks iReal Pro! Bob MY FORMER REVIEW FOLLOWS: I really like the app, and purchased it for both Android and iOS, but in iOS it is not letting me bring the iReal Pro email attachment into to iReal Pro on my iPad by pressing and holding on the attachment as the directions call for. The above is the only function that I’ve found is NOT working at this point, but I’d really like to get it working. Bob
Incredible App, Some downfalls
by jbmernick on 2019/12/11 13:31
This app is incredible. Not only am I able to find most songs from the real book and quickly dose load them, if the charts are wrong I can edit the chords or timing or repeats, key or tempo as needed. Not only that, when i couldn't find a song on the forums, I could create the chart as I needed it for any song. Only downfall is that I paid for the app on my mac too, and I can't seem to login on the iphone to transfer my songs to my laptop. Incredible and needed for any jazz musician or genre beyond. In a band you can practice or share these charts so everyone knows how their solo will sound over the music. Great app. When I found I could create charts I was in disbelief. Comping style sounds great between bossa and up tempo or any other style

Won’t let you download on different device once purchased
by elquesomenor on 2019/11/27 00:40
I love this app and use it all the time. But I am very frustrated with the fact that I cannot download the app on my computer when I purchased it on my phone. I looked on the developer website and they said I cannot transfer license between iOS App Store and Mac App Store. There must be a way around this.
Great Practice Tool
by howieguitar on 2019/11/24 03:23
I’ve been using iReal Pro for a few years and find it very useful in working out melodies, finding my stride and generally hashing out my chops. I highly recommend it. Tons of tunes as well! Howie
Great PRACTICE tool...
by DsrtTrkr on 2019/11/13 17:15
Reading posts on website of users wanting better sound quality with adjustable parameters. Better sound quality would be a great perk, but I like the basic simplicity of the app, it helps me focus on my core purpose, practice and study of my instrument. Keeps my mind from wandering off on technical issues. If people are looking for accompaniment for live settings or rehearsal look at other software ...or better yet find some humans to play with!!! Love this app.
Total junk
by ...::mybffs4evr::... on 2019/11/02 13:45
I give this five stars so maybe some poor schmuk will read it before blowing a bunch of money. I don't review often, but I must say this is the most poorly designed and useless app I have ever purchased. Simply changing a chord in one of the practice songs requires a programming degree from MIT. Making a mistake in the editor means deleting the entire song and starting over and still not being able to change an A chord to an E chord. MAKE IT SIMPLE STUPID should be the rule for the programmers of this piece of junk. If you want something to accompany you with YOUR chords, forget this app. Developers...,how about letting someone simply click on the f-ing chord AND CHANGE IT, what a concept. DON’T WASTE A PENNY IN THIS USELESS APPLICATION!!!!!!!!
Outstanding
by Emefbee on 2019/10/27 05:11
I have been using this app for about 2 years, and it is truly outstanding. I use it with a split screen with the music playing in the other half of the screen. The support is also superb.
A must have for the student or enthusiast
by Space____echo on 2019/10/08 16:00
I learned about this app through word of mouth while studying at university and let’s just say it rocketed me into a new practice routine and improved my playing dramatically.
Just ok

An Outstanding Tool
by RickProfundo on 2019/09/02 04:00
This app works so well and sounds so good that my duo (guitar & keys) has been using its drums and bass as part of the band in live performances. iReal Pro shines as a practice tool and the support is excellent. I highly recommend this app!
Awesome app
by awesomelicks on 2019/09/01 22:23
I’m a relatively new user. I have been using it to practice vocals with pre-loaded tunes (there are thousands of them) and to play along with my guitar and Uke. I’ve recently begun learning to enter my lead sheets and have found it to be quite intuitive and ireal pro assistance is excellent.
Five stars

Fantastically useful. Once you get it, it’s indispensable.
Purchased but can’t use on computer??
by 66445313425 on 2019/07/26 17:09
This is BS seriously… I spent the money and like most apps wanted to use it on my phone iPad and MacBook, it’s going to cost me an additional $20 to put it on my MacBook because they say the platforms aren’t compatible??. Seriously?? And support is slow and difficult…
Perfect For Writing Chord Charts and Playing Along!
by Piladeal on 2019/07/19 20:33
I wanted to create an app like this years ago, I’m glad someone finally did!! It’s really thorough and pretty user friendly!! It’s very similar to band in a box if you’re familiar with that. Well worth the money!! Thanks!!!
Great for practicing improvisation.
by kiplovesjazz on 2019/07/18 23:35
Just love the old standards and there are 1350 of them with other jazz tunes. Great to improvise along with chord progressions and bass.
Practice Makes Progress
by Drew Engman on 2019/07/15 16:02
Great automatic backing track software similar to Band In A Box without the three hundred dollar price tag. Great features allow control of most musical variables: key, tempo, and backup band instruments. Good sound for practicing along with, possibly good enough for demo’s or live karaoke performance. Wonderful software that has been around a decade or so, with plenty of time to work out any glitches a long time ago. The program provides animated chord charts that follow the beat, but does not provide a melody line in musical notation. I have found sheet music elsewhere online, and the keys usually match the original keys in the written out songs. A perfect practice accompanist for solo instruments. The huge library of tunes online that anyone can download into the software is amazing. The most useful musical app of all time.
Newest update
by Camps with cat on 2019/07/09 22:24
Love the App. My husband and a bunch of other “seniors” formed a oldies rock and roll band. My husband downloaded the his app and used their music plus added some of his old.. they updated it he app and his old, senior, iPad could not use the updated version. He only had a week to go before their first big paying job!! I contacted IReel Pro and within hours Warren contacted us and told my husband how to log back on with the new version. Everything worked and he was able to play his gig with his music. Thank you Warren!!!

I used this app to practicing for solos and learning improv. If you have the money this is the app to get. Amazing for practicing. A defiantly a 5 star app. Jazz is the best!!!
Great practice tool, good support.
by KBarM on 2019/06/15 16:54
This tool is a great way to practice, and play the tune in any key. (As a keyboardist, I turn down the keyboard part and practce along from my fake book charts.) I don’t find the editing interface super intuitive, but there is online documentation and their support responds quickly to questions. The jazz list of tunes is pretty comprehensive. I wish there were more vetted rock tunes. (People post their own titles in the forums, but it is “caveat emptor”: some people who post don’t seem to know you can specify a minor key, or have screwy chords. Most recent versions let you preview before you download a song, but older version that runs on older iOS does not. (And that is the helpful tidbit I got from their support staff.) Overall, well worth the investment.
Excellent app
by TSaxRex on 2019/06/14 16:48
Unwavering product support. Five stars for the customer support team. A lot of work has gone into making this the pinnacle of what is available at this time. It’s an excellent investment. I have it for both android and Apple products. It’s that good. I’m a bona fide user. I also bought it to put on my wife’s devices.

Simply amazing!
by Mashoul80 on 2019/05/28 04:06
I rarely write reviews, but this app has been such an amazing tool for me as I learn jazz guitar, I can’t even imagine practicing without it! From playing along with jazz standards to just solo practice in ii-V-I lines, to the fact that you can change the tempos, keys, rhythm, all on your phone without having to plug any thing anywhere, makes this app one of the best I’ve found for anyone interested in learning to play music. I think the author deserves an away for this!
To IRealPro: I love you
by Jazztromba on 2019/05/14 01:45
This has become an instrumental tool to use both in the practice room and on gigs. Practicing over solo changes helped me master songs like Giant Steps and Donna Lee and has changed the way I play my horn. On gigs, it’s perfect to check the chord changes and your song set list that way you’re never off from The rhythm section in a solo. Absolutely brilliant!
I love it!! What a bargain!
by anais32 on 2019/05/13 17:41
I’ve spent countless hours joyfully singing with this app. I’ve also been able to set keys that fit my voice like a glove. This used to be a very awkward process with a pianist, because finding the perfect key can be very time consuming. Well, it is for me. I can also email a set list and charts for upcoming gigs. This makes life so much easier. It is truly a bargain. I’ve saved hundred of dollars in rehearsal time because of this app. I recommend it to all my singer friends. Thank you!
I have no idea how to use his
by Good app but.... 486924 on 2019/05/06 01:12
They just throw you in there, without knowing anything. I don’t know how to do anything, and right now it looks like all it is for is jazz improvising which was not what I was looking for. Would not recommend
Great, but...
by Match o Matt on 2019/05/01 04:49
I have been using this app for years now and I do love it. I think there’s room for a few vital adjustments tho... one in particular that I would really like to see fixed. When a song is transposed and I want to edit chord changes, as soon as it goes into edit mode, it shows the chords in the original key the song was inputted, rather than the key I’m currently working with. This can be very frustrating in the moment for trying to make quick adjustments as I have to constantly transpose in my head to make edits. It would be nice if the edit mode always stayed in whatever key the current setting is.
Scam
by Boogie Bri on 2019/04/19 04:10
Advertises you can imports songs and playlists but doesn’t tell but only from the inside forums which you also have to buy. It’s a joke! Don’t waste your money. Buyer remorse and wasted a bunch of my time I could have been practicing

Whether you’re a serious amateur musician, semi-pro, or seasoned pro, this is a must-have app for practicing and gigging. And if you’re a jazz musician, get this NOW! The only thing missing will be the heads, but you can download all the changes from the Real Book and practice to your heart’s content. Build set lists and take it to gigs, so long as you know the heads.
Not what I expected.
by big gorrilla face on 2019/03/05 01:10

Can’t plug and play
by Don38472829 on 2019/03/01 02:17
I thought I’d be able to plug in my guitar using iRig and play along. You have to use GarageBand to do that, and then you can’t see the chord charts. Useless for me.
What a find!

Absolutely love this app! I can download thousands of scores, edit it, create it, change the key and the tempo,... It’s the aid to learning songs!
Great app; active community
by Grika on 2019/02/20 22:45
This has made my practicing so much more enjoyable that I actually miss it if my day is too busy. Plus there are so many charts available in the forum, that I've only had to make ones for pretty obscure tunes. I only wish there was more flexibility in charting. As it is, you either have normal size type or squishy. Having even two levels of condensed type would get it another star.
Amazing tool
by bookscdsdvdsandcoolstuff on 2019/02/12 05:31
Simply THE must have practice tool for the iPhone. In the forums you can download thousands of tunes, and practice with crowd sourced (and therefore relatively reliable) chord changes. Absolutely essential.

Chord Input on IPhone is bugged
by Clive Luis on 2019/01/14 09:05
Well I suppose the bread and butter of this app would be chord input . after inputting 50+ bars I found it difficult to navigate to the end of the page .. the cursor(next button) gets locked at the end of the page/line and does not move forward !
Terrific Tool
by Lilolgirl on 2019/01/10 18:07
I was turned on to this App by a music professor at a state university and I was blown away with all the features it offers for musicians to hone their craft, at their own pace and time. I was also recently impressed by their awesome level of prompt support. This App is a gem at your fingertips!
Great app especially for transposers
by Ann O'Reksha on 2019/01/08 15:52
IReal Pro is probably the iPhone/iPad app I use more than any other. As a music practice tool, it’s just fantastic. Creating playlists, setting different tempos, changing key signatures — all very easily done. I’m a saxophone player, and I practice every day, often switching horns in the middle of practice. So transposing for different instruments (e.g. Bb to Eb) is pretty important; this app makes it easy. I’ve been a Band in a Box user for many years, but iReal Pro is a much easier product to use.

by Joe Ptfsplk on 2018/12/11 19:09
This is my 2nd review. Prior to this, I rated iRealpro 5 stars; now I like to change that rating to 5.5 to 6 stars. I love all that is possible with iReal. However, when an issue came up I submitted the problem in the evening thinking the response would get to me within a day or two. Instead, when morning arrived upon waking up, there it was; the answer to my question. Many thanks to the iReal crew.

One of the greatest practice coaches
by Alfred North Whitehead on 2018/10/30 17:15
I have been using this app for several years now. It’s useful for my drum practice, bass practice, vocal practice, songwriting. How one chooses to use this as a practice tool: the sky’s the limit! The online community is amazing. I can have friends come over and I mute their particular instrument along with mine.I am learning bass as my second instrument and this program is invaluable. I can slow down anything to a manageable Tempo so I can explore the chords deeper. I can pick up even esoteric jazz and pop songs with the incredible online community. I do not need to be connected to the Internet to play downloadable songs with this software. I use it to also practice vocal exercises. It also exports charts to PDF which is fantastic if I want to play or share a chart with the actual song audio. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made from my iPhone and iPad. They say Time magazine voted this One of the 50 best inventions of 2010. I say it’s still one of the 50 best inventions for musicians and it’s 2018. Thank you developers!
Must own app for all jazzers
by Djamboy on 2018/10/25 17:13
This app is a no brainer, must own app for all jazzers. Indispensable for learning new tunes, and, if craftily used, can pop up in some gigging situations (shhh).

by Onr_ce on 2018/10/24 02:07

Waited to Review
by tryingfred on 2018/09/29 20:12
I waited to review this app to see how I’d like it and it’s functions. As a beginning musician trying to learn guitar in later life and never having learned any music/instruments you I’m not sure you will find a better tool. Takes a little time to learn how to use the app effectively, but I have found the app to be extremely flexible and helpful. Completely worth the money.
Poor interface
by wrtbhkkubn on 2018/09/26 03:28
This app is a nice idea, however the execution is very confusing. It is very difficult to organize the songs that you want to keep and the songs that you want to practice. Also, as usual, it is difficult to understand instructions that are written in pigeon English.
Great as is. Encourage further development.
by BDC1989 on 2018/08/16 20:44
I’m a jazz snob. This app is perfect for me since I am learning jazz piano. It is also very good for composing and even recording a tune with other instruments, PROVIDED, one uses the midi out file transfer. The internal sounds are okay for learning but not good enough to record with. That’s okay because with a midi file player and multi layered sample based apps one can can obtain a very decent recording. I encourage the developer to consider further enhancements such as more comping styles, chord inversions, additional drum fills and practice tunes " in the style of (artist)". BTW, I have all the Session Band Jazz apps and this app has them beat. Great job!
Great App! A little mechanical sounding...
by smartypans on 2018/08/12 00:55
Love this app! My ONLY suggestion for improvement would be to make it so that the note velocity in the chordal instrument have a little more of a humanistic quality. Maybe make each note velocity, or even whole chord velocities, be a little varied. Everything hammers at the same volume now, which is pretty mechanical sounding. Don't know how you'd achieve that. But if you did, I could gig with this!
Essential for aspiring and professional jazz musician
by #AccurateResonance0112 on 2018/08/03 16:14
Solid Playback, compositional accompaniment and practice tool with multiple applications. But doesn’t come with any music but there’s a great form or you could download the court changes to thousands of popular tunes and experiment by changing the styles. It’s like band in a box, and someways more versatile, but with less tweak ability in regards to the accompaniment. If you want to gig and you don’t know key changes, this is the app to have. I’ve seen so many professionals with them. You can also export midi, and whatever style you want. It’s help me to compose new songs. The interface is a little tricky, but there’s plenty of tutorials and helpful for him literature, as well as templates and options. This is probably the most comprehensive tool of its kind, and although there’s no real audio, if you’re not happy with the sounds of styles, export the midi, or if you like what you hear you can export the audio. For example, I found a tune template with some key changes I liked. Tweaked and changed some of the form and chords with ones I was hearing. Changed up the style. Wrote the developers and ask them if they could add an option to record. Not only did they respond, they did. Unbelievable. That was five years ago. There are still regular updates... it and it is absolutely a go to app that is One killer practicing, especiallyif you are a student of jazz, Bluegrass, blues, this will help you gain levels. I even use it on gigs if someone has a song request that is too obscure to find a backing track. It’s all about just getting from Milyer with the controls. Being tasteful and thinking creatively. It also is a plus, having the technology on hand to stream Bluetooth audio.
The ultimate backing track creator and more
by Kelvin Gee on 2018/07/22 05:18
What an amazing app! I can easily write (or use prewritten) chord progressions to create backing tracks that sound great and are excellent to jam with. Changing styles, tempos, and key signature is also extremely easy. The only thing missing from this app is an, “infinite repeat” function so I can jam for hours in end without pressing start when the repeats eventually come to an end. Right now repeats are limited to 30 times.

What a great program. I am a journey jazz musician. Work and life jammed me up for the past year. Back in the shed and using the program again and man has it improved. Not only do I get the changes every time they change I get a list of note changes. That is so sweet! Thanks for taking care of the little guy.
A True Power Tool!

If you ever used band in a box and have wished that it would run on your phone, then here you are. Personally, I love this app and use it way more than I ever used band in a box. It has an easy to use interface. You can create your own chord charts, and play along in any key with dead simple transposition. The backing track sounds are great, and the forum community is full of songs to download too. There are many backing track styles to choose from, and it is easy to organize your songs into playlists for gigs. This is a Swiss Army knife of practice apps! Well worth the price. In fact, I would pay way more for this app and still be very pleased. The developers are responsive to feedback, and the app just keeps getting better and better. Great work!!!

Great App. Upgrade tech needs a fix.
by Sark Mastre on 2018/07/03 15:15
This app essential to my work as a musician. I do not upgrade the app because I lose all my playlists when I upgrade the app. The companies fix for this “is download your Play lists and re-enter them into the app after you’ve done the upgrade. This should be fixed. If you do not do it correctly you have to rebuild all your playlists. If you are somewhat technically challenged as I am it’s gonna be a problem.
Great app, almost perfect

It would be nice if the app would have midi out to send chords messages. Would work beautifully with my arranger keyboard. Anyway, highly recommended

I am a professional pianist and use to carry all my fake books to a gig. Now all I use is this app. All I need to do is remember the melody. Most of the time I have singer so it’s not a problem. One time some people from Brazil came in. They requested songs I never heard of. I asked them, “if I play the chords, can you sing the melody?” They said yes, so I showed them the Brazilian songs that I had downloaded. They sang, loved it and gave me $100 tip. I have many similar stories. There are so many books that users have uploaded. Most of them are checked by the developer. They are very good at “talking with you and helping or suggesting tips. Every professional musician that I know has this app. What’s even better is that I have separate Play Lists for each singer. Even if they all sing the same song, the play list has it in their key with their arrangement.
Problem sharing playlists since the latest iPhone update
by 310818213562 on 2018/04/12 15:29
I still love the app for practice and for organizing my own lists. But ever since the latest iOS update, the option to share a list in the iReal format doesn’t work. That was one of my favorite / most useful things about the app, so I hope it gets updated!
Not transferable to devices
by PreciseTake on 2018/03/27 01:44
Helpful app but I purchased this on my iPhone which transferred to my iPad. Unfortunately, my MacBook and iMac won’t recognize my purchase and keeps prompting me to pay $19.99! If I had of known, I would’ve purchased on my computers as I use those more for practice.
Latin to Swing

If you are a musician at any level, this is the app for you! Imagine being able to practice any of hundreds and hundreds of INCLUDED songs at any tempo and in any key. Any number of choruses. Ability to select the rhythmic style. Ability to select the instrumentation of the rhythm section. Ability to dial rhythm instruments up or down - or out. You can even enter your own song chord changes. It’s not just a practice tool. You can hook your phone up to an amp and perform in public with this app. Make playlists. This is one of THE most well designed, well maintained and useful apps anywhere.
Could be perfect
by Cupojava1 on 2018/02/08 20:37
I love this app. However, it would be perfect if we could have chords played on the "and" especially on the 6/8 and 12/8 time signatures. My rating is actually 4.5 but you can't rate on the "and" either. 😎

I’ve been using this app for years, and it’s been great, but there are 3 things this is missing. 1.) Sharing charts via text. 2.) Writing In off beat hits. 3.) MINOR 13 CHORDS.
Very good app,, but...

You need to improve the sounds.... When I hear your system... just maschine.... Your sound is not instrumental sound... Fix that all please.... And you need more mixing tracks... There is a lack of mixing instrument.... We need more complicated music,,,,!,, We do not need many styles.. it is enough now!,!! Do not make more styles... just improve sound quality!!! And bountiful sound we want!,!!!!!

Can’t practice without iRealPro
by mkwplays on 2017/12/14 11:32
I’m 4 years into committed practice of jazz bass guitar, and I truly don’t see how I could pursue this path without my iReal Pro. My daily practice routines ~ scale and arp cycles to chord sequences to songs ~ are fully dependent on practice tracks. The app has so many settings, I can’t really see what couldn’t be practiced with it. Ok there’s probably a way for an adult non-genius with a good teacher and method to learn to play without iRealPro, but I can’t think what it is.
Fantastic for Jazz bad for Pop
by Esa95 on 2017/12/04 23:59
This app is incredible. I play Jazz so this is perfect for having chord charts, making practice exercises, and a whole lot more! I feel like the add on for pop and blues is pointless though, other then having a chord chart all the tunes need a melody to even sound close to the original music. I feel like working with an actual metronome would be more useful to a beginner player. An aspiring Jazz player NEEDS this app but two chord chores and weekend players might want to look elsewhere on ultimate guitar tabs or something.
Please help!

I'm so lost as to why this app had so many positive feedbacks?
by Thirdnail on 2017/09/19 04:29
Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I mean I bought this app to A: build upon ideas for my original music, as well as to learn new songs... B: I wanted different feels and styles of music with the chord progression, so when writing a piece of music, I would maybe be inspired by a different feel...maybe a jazz drum with acoustic guitar, with a running octave bass line and chords on the piano... (the old app ChordBot) did this, but it's progressions were limited. Maybe I'm doing something wrong...but even when I try to use this app in the MOST basic way (which is just opening the style, and then a song) when it play the notes, it sounds NOTHING like what the song should sound like. I am not speaking about the quality, I'm speaking about the timing, the style, the instruments chosen to play a song. Each song sounds like a BAD elevator edition... please help! What am I doing wrong? Is there something I'm overlooking? If I'm not overlooking anything then I would HONESTLY rate this app a 2 star app... so I HAVE TO BE DOING something wrong...
Great job!
Ten Star App!
by Trumpet music on 2017/08/27 17:47
I've been using iReal Pro since the beginning... and it keeps getting better and better! Besides being a great practice aid for my trumpet, it has helped me understand song form, and how to write it. Then it helped me learn the bass guitar, and now I'm able to teach basic guitar and piano to young students. In a pinch, it is a great backup band for live performance! I recommend this app, by name, to every musician I encounter, and am proud to give it the highest rating available! My only complaint is that I can't rate it higher, so that people can see what an exceptional app it is.

My most used app!
by Jkosch on 2017/08/27 20:11
This app does just about everything for me. It's a great practice tool, with ever more styles to play against. And I also use it as my gig book. Just bought the new Blues style pack and ran into problems installing. The support was amazingly fast and diligent. In the process I learned the program has features like looping and start from any measure. Also copy and paste. If they ever develop a way to incorporate melody?....in the meantime I will still use this app more than any other of the myriad of music apps I have.
Indispensible tool for the guitarists woodshed
by wireAndWood on 2017/09/19 23:40
This app is now an integral part of my woodshed workflow. If you are learning jazz or perfecting it, iReal can amplify the value of your practice time. A pro harmonica soloist recommended this app to me as a way to coordinate learning jazz standards (so we could jam, etc). I can set tempo, key, make chord substitutions, great, all the stuff in the marketing lit. Everything works as claimed. iReal abstracts a basic rhythm section, giving me simple tap control over things which would take (potentially loads) more time to explain to musicians. I can try out ranges of possibilities, phrasings and moods at whim. There's an active community of iRealers who continue to provide new songs and new interpretations of old ones. Thousands of songs are available. When Steely Dan's Becker passed, I was able to sound out the grief, starting with a handful of taps to download and play (along with) Deacon Blues.

Thank you!
I think the author deserves an away for this!

by Yohann Sebby on 2017/09/04 23:56
I love this app and use it all the time for both playing along with music or writing music. My only problem is that this app doesn't have the ability to change the style mid-song. Therefore, songs like A Night in Tunisia, in which the groove changes from Latin to Swing and back, is left Latin throughout. Once that minor issue is fixed, this app will be perfect!
More than you are
by Joe Ptfsplk on 2018/12/11 19:09
This is my 2nd review.

What a great program. I am a journey jazz musician. Work and life jammed me up for the past year. Back in the shed and using the program again and man has it improved. Not only do I get the changes every time they change I get a list of note changes. That is so sweet! Thanks for taking care of the little guy.
Simple, valuable, accurate!
by chillbone1111 on 2017/08/31 13:52
As a performing solo/duo jazz guitarist, finding an app that's simple and predictable enough to provide backing drums that sound authentic, appealing, and correlate directly with the lead sheet, offer transpositions, stylistic variety... well that's a very tall order, but you've achieved it. Someone has listened and worked closely with real gigging musicians, thank you!

I’m a relatively new user. I have been using it to practice vocals with pre-loaded tunes (there are thousands of them) and to play along with my guitar and Uke. I’ve recently begun learning to enter my lead sheets and have found it to be quite intuitive and ireal pro assistance is excellent.

Massimo and his team have created an app that every single jazz student or working professional needs to have. I use it in my teaching and I've used it on the gig. It's ease-of-use has translated into it becoming an absolute utility. Bravo! Worth every penny x10.
Love this app; very handy for gigs.

I love this app. Sure, it doesn't have the lead line like the Real Book would, but it's a very handy app for gigs! Say your vocalist wants to sing "Misty" in A flat instead of the normal key of E flat. No problem! This app allows you to transpose the chart instantly. The changes are usually pretty accurate and one can also practice with the 'play along' feature, and vary the tempo, key signature and number of times the tune is played. Some of the best money I've ever spent on a phone app.
Constant
by itinerantmonk on 2017/12/20 07:13
iRealPro is the constant in my practice-I’ve found nothing more complete and fulfilling than this app in my Jazz practice. When it’s not possible to play with others, iReal is there to keep me on track. Thanks, Erik
Excellent teaching tool
by DanBanJovi on 2017/10/09 03:04
I am a music teacher and this allows my students to hear and see chord progressions while we play along together at various speeds. Easy to build charts too!
A must have for the student or enthusiast

I learned about this app through word of mouth while studying at university and let’s just say it rocketed me into a new practice routine and improved my playing dramatically.

An Outstanding Tool

This app works so well and sounds so good that my duo (guitar & keys) has been using its drums and bass as part of the band in live performances. iReal Pro shines as a practice tool and the support is excellent. I highly recommend this app!
If you’re a jazz musician, you need this, period.

Frankly, this is an essential item for any jazz musician. An incredible work, play, practice tool that continues to get better each update. It’s amazing. Buy it.

What a great app!
by Janprimus on 2017/09/06 20:44
Several years ago when I got the first I real be, I was so thrilled! I was able to quit hauling around 4 large binders of band charts! 2 C books, 1 Bb book and one EB book. Thank you Massimo and crew.
Could be perfect
by Cupojava1 on 2018/02/08 20:37
I love this app. However, it would be perfect if we could have chords played on the "and" especially on the 6/8 and 12/8 time signatures. My rating is actually 4.5 but you can't rate on the "and" either. 😎

not able to load iReal Pro attachment by pressing & holding
by BigbirdMando on 2019/12/16 03:54
After the quick response from iReal Pro support, my initial review issue below is not an issue.
Comping style sounds great between bossa and up tempo or any other style

by elquesomenor on 2019/11/27 00:40
I love this app and use it all the time. But I am very frustrated with the fact that I cannot download the app on my computer when I purchased it on my phone. I looked on the developer website and they said I cannot transfer license between iOS App Store and Mac App Store. There must be a way around this.

Total junk
by ...::mybffs4evr::... on 2019/11/02 13:45
I give this five stars so maybe some poor schmuk will read it before blowing a bunch of money.

Awesome app
by awesomelicks on 2019/09/01 22:23
I’m a relatively new user. I have been using it to practice vocals with pre-loaded tunes (there are thousands of them) and to play along with my guitar and Uke. I’ve recently begun learning to enter my lead sheets and have found it to be quite intuitive and ireal pro assistance is excellent.

by 66445313425 on 2019/07/26 17:09
This is BS seriously… I spent the money and like most apps wanted to use it on my phone iPad and MacBook, it’s going to cost me an additional $20 to put it on my MacBook because they say the platforms aren’t compatible??.

Can’t plug and play
by Don38472829 on 2019/03/01 02:17
I thought I’d be able to plug in my guitar using iRig and play along. You have to use GarageBand to do that, and then you can’t see the chord charts. Useless for me.

by vdocutter on 2019/02/25 20:22
Absolutely love this app!

Terrific Tool

Need to pay another $20 to get the Mac version
by Onr_ce on 2018/10/24 02:07
I already own the the app for my iPhone but it is not easy to practice while making sure that your screen doesn’t turn off. I decided to install it to my Mac Pro but apparently you need to pay additional $20 for the same stuff.

by JC MACBOOK PRO 1 on 2018/10/06 11:25
In my opinion this is the greatest teaching tool I have ever come across for working on tunes and improvisation. To have the parameters to change so many elements is hugely helpful to my students and I also use it to work tunes in 12 keys as part of my practice routine. A definite must have. 👍🏼

Musicians Bible 😀😀

Oh I love this app. I have the iPad Pro and my entire band has this app. We share charts quick and easy. We’re all on the same page at the same time. We even pull up songs people request right off forum. Make a key chanting a flash. I tour around the globe and would not leave home without it. It’s a musicians bible 😀 Five thumbs 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 Could a number system : hint hint.

Helpful app but I purchased this on my iPhone which transferred to my iPad. Unfortunately, my MacBook and iMac won’t recognize my purchase and keeps prompting me to pay $19.99! If I had of known, I would’ve purchased on my computers as I use those more for practice.

Great job!

Thank you!
Love this app.

by Mashoul80 on 2019/05/28 04:06
I rarely write reviews, but this app has been such an amazing tool for me as I learn jazz guitar, I can’t even imagine practicing without it! From playing along with jazz standards to just solo practice in ii-V-I lines, to the fact that you can change the tempos, keys, rhythm, all on your phone without having to plug any thing anywhere, makes this app one of the best I’ve found for anyone interested in learning to play music. I think the author deserves an away for this!

by Yohann Sebby on 2017/09/04 23:56
I love this app and use it all the time for both playing along with music or writing music. My only problem is that this app doesn't have the ability to change the style mid-song. Therefore, songs like A Night in Tunisia, in which the groove changes from Latin to Swing and back, is left Latin throughout. Once that minor issue is fixed, this app will be perfect!

by Joe Ptfsplk on 2018/12/11 19:09
This is my 2nd review.

Right now repeats are limited to 30 times.

by Grika on 2019/02/20 22:45
This has made my practicing so much more enjoyable that I actually miss it if my day is too busy. Plus there are so many charts available in the forum, that I've only had to make ones for pretty obscure tunes. I only wish there was more flexibility in charting. As it is, you either have normal size type or squishy. Having even two levels of condensed type would get it another star.

This is one of THE most well designed, well maintained and useful apps anywhere.
I Real Pro
by bjtwist on 2018/07/18 16:54
What a great program.
Blues styles
by motpom on 2017/08/29 19:24
Can not say enough about this app. The new styles help to improve my timing on a lot of the songs that seemed a little lost in the given styles. Coming back to them after learning in blues styles works great for me. Tech. Response is "A plus". Thank-you!
Awesome!
by JC MACBOOK PRO 1 on 2018/10/06 11:25
In my opinion this is the greatest teaching tool I have ever come across for working on tunes and improvisation. To have the parameters to change so many elements is hugely helpful to my students and I also use it to work tunes in 12 keys as part of my practice routine. A definite must have. 👍🏼
Awesome app
by awesomelicks on 2019/09/01 22:23
I’m a relatively new user. I have been using it to practice vocals with pre-loaded tunes (there are thousands of them) and to play along with my guitar and Uke. I’ve recently begun learning to enter my lead sheets and have found it to be quite intuitive and ireal pro assistance is excellent.
Outstanding
by Emefbee on 2019/10/27 05:11
I have been using this app for about 2 years, and it is truly outstanding. I use it with a split screen with the music playing in the other half of the screen. The support is also superb.
Thanks!!!
Simply the best.

Massimo and his team have created an app that every single jazz student or working professional needs to have. I use it in my teaching and I've used it on the gig. It's ease-of-use has translated into it becoming an absolute utility. Bravo! Worth every penny x10.
Love this app; very handy for gigs.
by ssprager on 2017/09/06 21:23
I love this app.
A must have for the student or enthusiast
by Space____echo on 2019/10/08 16:00
I learned about this app through word of mouth while studying at university and let’s just say it rocketed me into a new practice routine and improved my playing dramatically.
Great Practice Tool
by howieguitar on 2019/11/24 03:23
I’ve been using iReal Pro for a few years and find it very useful in working out melodies, finding my stride and generally hashing out my chops. I highly recommend it. Tons of tunes as well! Howie
If you’re a jazz musician, you need this, period.
by Bluesbop on 2018/02/25 23:47
Frankly, this is an essential item for any jazz musician. An incredible work, play, practice tool that continues to get better each update. It’s amazing. Buy it.
Every song in the book available at your fingertips.
by KirklinCScott on 2018/07/09 21:45
I love this app. It makes short work of the grind musicians have had to bear for so long.
