Works great on Apple TV
by Jentle4Christ on 2018/12/10 03:01
I like the idea that the streaming radio station shows as an icon on the screen and plays in the background while I’m browsing other music.
Unethical Trash
by Annoyedd7563 on 2018/12/10 00:59
These jerks just put a pop up on my screen as I went to access a station. I thought it was an update. But these unethical POSes had me upgrading stuff. Beware. They’re a bunch of sneaky b’s.
Monthly fee

Ap was great for a few months, then they started charging me. Had to call apple to stop the charges. Hope they are not doing this to everyone.

Wrong Album Art
by JenFrago on 2018/12/08 17:43
I keep getting the wrong album art on my favorite station on my iPhone and my iPad. I’ve gone through the instructions in an attempt to fix the problem several times but it doesn’t work.

Where’s Baby it’s Cold Outside by Dean Martin

This is just insanity that you along with other stations are removing songs based on opinion.
Was much better, and then today
by AuntC9 on 2018/12/08 03:38
Well you recently made a nice improvement in that the app now remembers where I ended listening and doesn’t restart always at the start of an episode. Also the episode order hasn’t gotten screwed up in a while too. Si I’d have given you 4 stars I think. Still needs a number of QoL improvements but much better. However. Today, all the shows I’d listened to lost the “red circle” that shows have far through an episode you are or that you’d listened to the whole thing. It remains on just a handful. All others have “reset”. So now, I’m not sure which ones I have listened to and which I haven’t. It wasn’t like this just a few days ago. Lousy. Just lousy. I wrote all that about a month ago. A few days a later all the red circles reappeared! Then last week they were gone again except for a random few. And today! Poor! They are back again. What. The. Actual. Hell iheart?! The app still stalls upon opening. Have to restart. The sort is correct only half the time. I would never pay for this app. I only use it to listen to one podcast I can’t hear any other way. You just can’t compete with this crap product.
Great

For the reason i give u five stars because of pricey !!!!! Thank you
Keeps Crashing
by DSRacing on 2018/12/07 23:22
Had the app awhile back and it kept crashing after a few weeks of using it. Gave it a second chance and work fine for about two weeks and started crashing again did the update and still the same thing. Guess that it for me now.
Scam for premium
by Getnatyasidewaz on 2018/12/07 21:44
Be careful using this app if you have an iPhone. It will randomly ask you purchase their premium service. Your phone will prompt you for your Touch ID to purchase, and if your not paying attention (like i wasn’t on 2 separate occasions) you’ll be charged for premium. Not a good move iHeartRadio. I know y’all are struggling financially but is this the level of desperation you’ve stooped to?
Why the passcodes and junk?
by Lejett on 2018/12/07 21:02
Ok so first, I am looking for an app that lets me play music without having to need WIFI AND STUFF!! Second, I hate apps that say you have to sign in with your email and password, because my mom won’t let me sign in my personal email. So unless you let me have no email to sign into and junk, I’m not getting it!!☹️
My Subscription
by Mz_Pissed/Off on 2018/12/07 19:49
I just renewed my subscription on iHeartRadio and it’s saying I need to renew again after two. Weeks. About to delete this app all together. This isn’t the first time smh.
Takes to long for updates
by Vaughn C on 2018/12/07 19:34
I listen to the breakfast club and a lot of the time I am a day or two behind when the show aired. But the episodes don’t be up to date when I log in. Right now I am on Tuesday 12/4 but there are no episodes for the rest of the week and it’s Friday. If this keeps up I have no use for this app and will listen as I was on YouTube
Glitching in Chinese
by Po...lit on 2018/12/07 19:02
Lately song title and artist has been randomly written in Chinese at times then will revert back to English then back to Chinese. This has been since the most recent update. Please fix.

Can’t get to my station
by MeemaBaps on 2018/12/07 17:38
I can’t get past the ad for upgrade, or past the last station I listened to which came on automatically. If I could get to the station I want, I would love it! I thought it would show up— oh, well.
Shameful Santa on North Pole Radio
by 8r170 on 2018/12/07 14:57
I was happy to have a Christmas music channel to listen to on my phone, I was enjoying it until Santa the DJ made a joke about “coffee and Xanax for the parents”. I don’t believe drugs are appropriate jokes anytime, but on a station geared towards children it’s absolutely terrible! Shame on Santa! He doesn’t have to stop at my house this year, can only imagine what he’d bring. No thanks!
Honest review
by ct722 on 2018/12/07 13:59
Although I enjoy using the app to access channels I’ve loved before I moved, I am frequently irritated with the fact that the commercials are almost always the same 3-6 used at every break on a loop. Not to mention that two of them are to promote a vaporizer where the commercial obviously targets young people with another supporting commercial immediately after. Very disappointed with iHeartRadio.
Good but Not Perfect
by Vfrat on 2018/12/07 05:00
Only two real problems. I wish I could say that about every app. Lol 1) Sometimes but not always it will just spin and not finish loading my station. It’s not a cell signal or WiFi problem. It acts like a web browser with too many pages open. My phone works fine generally (For ATT but that’s another story for another time). 2) It has a VERY aggressive upsell pop up that won’t quit pestering me. I understand that companies need to make a profit but it’s like someone trying to hand me a baseball bat and glove and telling me to go stand in the outfield every time I walk into the sporting goods dept. Tone it down guys.

App works great but...
by HawkFanB on 2018/12/06 17:32
The filler bits have been the same for months upon months. Every time I hear Carrie Underwood and George Strait I dive for my phone to shut off the torture. For the love of radio, GET NEW FILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Useless for talk radio + charge SCAM = a big NO
by Jcorbs21 on 2018/12/06 16:45
There is no apparent ability to search for a nationally syndicated radio program. All you get is a really bad "podcast station", but no live radio if you try to search by the name of the program. This app is really for music only. Plus it now attempts to conduct a fingerprint SCAM nearly every time I open to listen to my local station!
Shady App interface - check your bank account
by crunchy ethef on 2018/12/06 15:49
First let me say I love most things about iHeart Radio, but a recent experience with their app has left a sour taste in my mouth an unexpected $5.99 hole in my bank account. The app had an ad for their subscription service that pops up when you open the app. I have no problem with the there being adds, you expect them. What you don’t expect is an add that will not close when you try to close the little “x” - it has serious lags and even worse, if you fail to successfully close the ad before you hit the “home” button on your iPhone and have touch pay enabled, you will end up paying for a subscription. Let me say that again, if you open the app and try to close it once it starts playing but don’t close their ad first, they will tribute a purchase of their subscription service at $5.99 a month. No other app I have used will trigger a purchase this way when you try closing the app. Normally you need to click on the add to initiate the purchase. Not iHeart Radio! To make it worse, they don’t even tell you that you’ve made your purchase. I only found out because I was searching something on my bank statement and saw the charge and looked into it. Seems iHeart Radio doesn’t believe in their subscription service enough to advertise it and get you to sign up the right way. They would rather try to get you to inadvertently trigger a purchase and hope you do not notice the charge on your bank statement. Again, no other app has adds that work this way. Need further proof that this is done to be shady? Try talking to them about it. I contacted them right away and got no help. You get cookie cutter answers on oh if you don’t like it, you can cancel and will not be billed after the current billing cycle. Meaning you will not be charged past the last time you were charged, but they will still keep the money they have already gotten from you. App deleted until iHeart Radio decides to make money the correct way and operate above board.

I use this for background music where I want to listen to a variety of songs. I primarily listen to iheart80s and the lost 80s channel. It seems the iheart80s channel may be just a very large playlist, as some songs that I don’t care for seem to come up with some regularity. Overall I enjoy the service.

by DJmachine101 on 2018/12/05 23:16
As a member of the broke folks community, I use the free subscription of iHeartRadio. If I have a payed subscription, do the stations not censor the music? One of my pet peeves is censored music.
Used to be great
by scorpionxx0 on 2018/12/05 21:59
I’ve been using this app for years to listen to music while I do stuff on my computer. However now it seems to have removed the ability to listen to music while the app is minimized or if my iPad goes into power save mode. Now I can’t do anything on my iPad while listening to music cause I usually minimize the app and do other stuff. I hope this isn’t some shameful attempt to make me upgrade to a paid account by removing features that should be free from the app. I will probably delete this app if this isn’t fixed soon.
Good app!

Updates on iPhone
by wd6126 on 2018/12/05 13:15
I am still using the free version of this app. The alarm clock on this app is nice to have. However it seems to me this app is having to update way too often and when it is time to update. The app will not work at all. This is the way it has been from the first update to the most current one.
Needs Work
by The Hallway on 2018/12/05 11:05
I enjoy listening to my local talk radio station on the go, but on a regular basis iHeart cuts out the station’s contents with their commercials. They also needs to fix the volume control on the Apple iWatch. It does not work. On this said it has very good content in their app. If they fix these problems I will give it a higher rating.
AWESOME APP ‼️👍😍😎

Okay but gets stuck with commercials sometimes
by Lillybean25 on 2018/12/05 10:20
I like this app, but there are times where it gets stuck on commercials. Occasionally, I will want to listen to the radio and it will play commercials for 10 minutes before I just turn it off. I feel like they are just trying to get more paid commercial free subscriptions
App Issue
by Fjohn52 on 2018/12/05 04:29
For the third time, the app has gotten me to sign up for the $5.99 monthly version when I didn’t intend to. This didn’t happen ever until a couple of months ago. I pick up the phone to turn in the app and it asks for my thumbprint. Odd, but I do it. Then it says thanks for for subscription. There is no easy way to correct the mistake. It will let you cancel, but the charge isn’t reversed and I am stuck with it for a month. The first time, I spent a long time on the phone and email with Apple and PayPal. I eventually got the money reversed. The second time, I kicked myself for not having recognized it was happening again and I just canceled it and sucked up the $5.99 that I had to pay for a month of service I didn’t ask work. It happened again today and I am super frustrated. There must be something in this version of the app that is causing this because it never happened before. One had to go through a couple of steps to subscribe to the extra cost service.

WARNING!!! VULGARITY laced kids channels
by Carmenanna78 on 2018/12/04 14:14
Ultimate warning for those who have little ears close by. I noticed that Profane Vulgarity Unedited Uncensored music on Kids stations like “KIDS CLUB RADIO” and NICK WOW! Total garbage. Now I’m in damage control explaining to the kids why this language is inappropriate and bad.
Popups
by JoeyMarm on 2018/12/04 13:30

by Hodgej on 2018/12/03 19:01
Accidentally purchased the upgrade due to the constant banner pop ups. Crappy design
App works fine but don’t appreciate dark UX — VERY SHADY
by Lumber Jackson on 2018/12/03 18:47
This app has pretty much every radio station. It shows what songs are playing on the radio. It has all the features you’d want. What I don’t appreciate is the auto-pop-up that appears randomly and tries to take your fingerprint or FaceID to purchase iHeartRadio+. This is design is an underhanded strategy to make users accidentally buy and in-app purchase. Blatant dark UX.

Be really careful or you’ll commit to $5.99/month...
by 19598693 on 2018/12/01 23:12
This has happened to me twice...a window pops up and when you try to close it, your thumb print instantly orders a $5.99/month service. Pretty sure iHeart is trying to make it SUPER EASY to order this and if so it’s very dishonest! So far, I’ve paid this fee twice...and it’s hard to cancel...so be careful.
Stop Updating What Isn’t Broken
by americanyouth303 on 2018/12/01 22:22
Podcasts now (again) won’t save progress for any episodes, including the active one listening to. The app takes a long period to load (5-15 seconds) regardless of connection or downloaded media. Everything on my phone slows while using the app.
Podcast function is buggy
by CzernAttack on 2018/12/01 22:03
In the podcast part of the app, when I hit “Mark As Played” it doesn’t remember. So when I reopen the app and go back to the podcast tab, none of them are marked as played anymore. This is irritating because now I don’t know which ones I’ve already listened to!

Terrible streaming and podcast app
by Shilly 2010 on 2018/12/01 20:29
Been trying to use this app for the last few years as it's the only way to get my local sports station and I keep hoping it will get better with updated at streaming and downloading/playing podcasts but it never does and I have to go back to the website (which also isn't great unless you have 75Mbps). Downloads take forever...if they work but usually the app times out and goes back to the same spot in an old podcast listened to fully a week or more ago. Devs need to test streaming and downloads in real world networks (including low bandwidth home networks) and monitor actual performance metrics to see where improvements are needed.

STOP REPEATING COMMERCIALS
by danikanderson on 2018/11/30 02:27
Please STOP repeating the same commercial on every break! It’s the same toothbrush commercial over and over each time there is break. It happens on the KFYI station. I understand that advertisers buy time but it’s ridiculous when you hear the same commercial literally 50 times per day. I end up switching from that station to another one because if I stop listening, then come back it picks back up with that same sponsor!

For refund of unwanted charges you must be persistent
by TDF12 on 2018/11/29 01:46
I was charged for an upgrade that I didn’t initiate and was unaware. Then I was charged a renewal and became aware. The short of it is my iOS App Store account refunded the “renewal” but not the initial subscription charge. IHeartRadio offered to “help” me and offered advice to contact iOS App Store for refund because they do not have access blah-blah and for me to turn off Touch ID to prevent future issues. I challenged that somehow they were able to charge me and they should be able to refund me. They were able to and did refund me through my PayPal. Whatever! And instead of turning off my Touch ID I deleted iheartradio app. That should take care of unwanted surprises.

STOP INTERRUPTING THE SHOW WITH COMMERCIALS
by Coastal duck on 2018/11/27 17:47
I have used I heart radio for years and have always been pleased. It is a great way to listen to my favorite California talk radio station even though I now live put of state. However, I heart radio has recently started INTERRUPTING THE RADIO NEWS with commercials. I get that you have to have advertising to pay for the service, I really do. But before, I heart radio ran commercials during the regular show commercial breaks - NOT ON TOP OF the radio content that I am tuning in to hear!! I will have to stop using this app if this does not change.
Commercials
by Mandy4000 on 2018/11/27 16:37
I’m getting really tired of listening to KFI on iHeart and with no warning a conversation or the news will be completely taken over by commercials. I don’t know if it’s an iHeart thing or a KFI thing. It’s frustrating. I’m listening to a news broadcast and boom commercials, I’m listening to a segment and boom commercials! I won’t stop listening to KFI but I might stop using iHeart to do it. Because it never happens when I’m listening to it on an actual radio.
Why the change??
by AZNboys on 2018/11/27 14:21
I listen to a news/talk station that’s out of state. The last few weeks, iHeart has started playing extra commercials during the news updates. Stop it! Play the regular commercials like normal. Why are you adding commercials when they break for news? It’s a news station and I miss the news now. Makes no sense. So disappointing. I used to love iHeart but they are doubling up on advertising and you miss the radio programming. What a shame.

I’ve force closed the app, signed out and back in, restarted my phone, cut WiFi on and off and still NOTHING. It’s been about 2 weeks and the app still won’t load anything.
Unauthorized purchases
by Dbbbb2346753235677777 on 2018/11/26 17:13
Congratulations, guys. When the “new and improved” app starts up, the app immediately prompts you to purchase the upgrade to iHeartRadio Plus for $5.99/mo. You’ve now found a way to gouge as many unsuspecting people as possible with your worthless iHeartRadio Plus.
Good.
by vickyyy1426 on 2018/11/26 05:07
I use the app everyday and I’m starting have issues with the app for example when I play a radio station it’s start to pause during songs. Please fix the app!!
Be Careful
by HisMajestyII on 2018/11/26 03:49
I just realized that without my explicit consent, I was "subscribed" which means I was being charged (~6$ mo) for the last three months. Not a lot of money, sure, but I feel like I've been scammed. Cancelled.
Free version worth the money
by Theedcarol on 2018/11/26 01:27
Started listening to this several months ago and liked it. The free version now has ads between every song. Or so it seems. I am about ready to throw the app in the trash. Maybe they can come up with a free app that has less frequent ads. If not I will gladly kiss them goodbye.
IMMEDIATELY UNINSTALLED
by gurnx on 2018/11/25 19:53
App requires login; so I went back to app info to read details. App is used by Nielsen ratings to gather info. I like privacy- TuneIn, RadioParadise, Slacker, and many other listening apps do NOT require a login so I’ll listen elsewhere.

Bluetooth takeover!
by Disgruntled Charter Member on 2018/11/25 14:08
Since update when using auxiliary connection while having my Bluetooth headset paired for phone calls the app will switch from aux out to Bluetooth. There doesn’t seem to be a reason for this and it happens arbitrary. Very frustrating. This does not happen with other streaming apps.
Loud, screaming ads
by The Blizz Kid on 2018/11/25 11:54
I’m ok with ads & commercials. Maybe make them more appropriate for the genres. I don’t want to be yelled at while listening to soft, sleepy music- especially after I’ve been tossing & turning for 6 hours & finally drift off, only to be awoken by an annoying ad. I know how important the ads are to this app. I love this app. I brag about it all the time. The ads are getting ridiculous though.
Too many popups clickbaits
by EDsReview on 2018/11/25 11:17
Just too many popups when all you want to do is open the app! Too easy to accidentally PAY for their goal to get you paying for their iHeartRadio Plus. Nightmare to cancel or refund! I think it’s by design all these free apps!
Constantly hounded to move to a paid tier of service
by Upnorthdoug on 2018/11/25 08:48
The app constantly tries to move you to a paid tier of service. The dismiss selection on the upgrade pop up is hidden in the same color as the very large add that appears every time you sign in. If you accidentally subscribe the I heart support is team is no help at all.
Don’t get this app.
by Boomboy51 on 2018/11/24 22:03
I heart radio is beyond awful. The songs are obviously pirated and of poor quality. The app freezes ALL THE TIME. And if their reply is that “I should spend money on the app, it would work better”, my reply is, if the free version is so horrible why would I waste money? The app is computer generated, doesn’t cost them ANYTHING to broadcast, most songs, pirated or not, are B side versions. And their programming of music is so repetitive. Two hours after playing, the songs have a “habit” of playing all over. Just like their programming on the actual radio. I am certain, if I take a few moments, that are are myriad music sources that are definitely better than this junk.

by Wordlea on 2018/11/24 13:20
Music variety is good. Two major complaints: when I thumb down that means I never want to hear that song again!! And when I save a song twice why can’t you tell me that it’s already saved to my saved songs? Also I somehow signed up for iheart plus unintentionally. There should be more steps to signing up. Cancelling was easy which I did cuz I like pandora better. They get the thumbs down process very well and I don’t hear unwanted songs.
Was great on Windows Phone, new web app version six
by Nominally Normal on 2017/12/10 18:10
Loved this app on my Windows Phone, installed it when I was forced to switch to iPhone (which has been an inferior user experience in almost every way - it can’t even do autocorrect as well as the WP, but I digress), and it was pretty similar throughout the fall of 2017... logged in today, December, to find everything changed. I can’t figure out how to get to my favorite artist-based station (can find artist in search, but there doesn’t seem to be a station option anymore?) can’t find the Recently Played Songs list once I’m playing a station. It’s fine to change things, but not in such an extreme way that it appears so nonsensical to even fairly on-top-of-things users that they can’t easily find the features that are important to them. I don’t know if it was a web app before, but it must be because I don’t recall downloading an update and everything is just a little off, not polished and smooth like a native app would be. I expected that sort of thing on a minority platform like WP, but it’s really disappointing to have a worse experience on a brand new iPhone. Anyway, this app is in need of some major organizing/UI changes before it can match the user experience of previous versions. If I have to put in hours curating my stations (which looks like the direction this is going), as opposed to having a variety of stations that are good, just need minor tweaks to be great, I’d might as well use Pandora!
iHeartRadio
by toddster70 on 2018/02/04 11:50
I would have given it a five star BC I simply love being too listen to my home rock station when I'm working BC I work out of town most of time. But for some crazy reason lately it has started at 100% volume, even just now I got a head start on it and began working it down to about 60 % for it just to jump right back full blast even though I was holding down on volume button. Now I really can't explain how out why it would be turning down and almost to the half mark just for it to jump to the full volume while I'm still holding on the volume but this is not some thing that I can take or tolerate at 615 am nor will my boss's or work mates at this time in the morning and hell it could give some one a heart attack when u go from nor hearing a thing where a needle could be able to be heard hitting the floor. But you could say every one is awake today after this Bluetooth box going off. Please let me know what could and out can be done and if it's anything to do on my part in really sorry for not given the extra star but I had the volume working down for it to start over. Thanks and please have this fixed or fixed for me. Have no complaints about anything else so everyone download this app and listen to your favorite tubes so day and all the time for free.
Please don't force me to listen to Theory of a Deadman
by Crimsonkitty6 on 2018/03/30 19:38
I never write reviews, yet HELLO! Here I am. I have a 30 minute drive home from work to listen to what I want. Today I decided it was a great day for A Day to Remember. I switch on my beloved (not so beloved anymore) iHeartRadio app to listen to ADTR, instead Theory of a Deadman starts playing. Okay, that's fine, that was the last station I listened to. I get it. I search "A Day" and BOOM!! iheart already knows what I want, by automatically pulling up ADTR. I click it and wait. And wait. And wait some more (not patiently might I add) it doesn't do anything but load. I get annoyed enough to exit the app and go back in hoping by doing that it might ACTUALLY help. LOL JOKES ON ME. Theory starts playing again. I search ADTR and click it and again it continues to load. I went back to Theory and it plays a Shinedown song, okay, I'll listen to this. Maybe after a full song plays I can try ADTR again. I go back to the search and find my station, and guess what?? If you said IT LOADS WITHOUT EVER PLAYING A SONG, you would be right. My whole 30 minute car ride was one Shinedown song and a whole lot of loading and annoyance. I'm over you iHeartRadio, more like iBreakHeartsRadio. I'm going back to Pandora, they may have commercials, but at least they don't force me to listen to Theory of a Deadman. It's been real, it's been not so fun, but Thanks for the Memories (subtle Fall Out Boy reference.) 🙄
Good App (Usually...)
by Rosemaryadventure23 on 2018/01/05 02:52
Edit: It seems like all of the other problems I list below are gone now, due to the fact that I can’t get the app to play ANY music now. None of my stations work, they all constantly have a loading symbol, and where the artist’s other songs/info are, it says, “Artist Profile is not available at this time”. The app is completely useless to me at this point because it doesn’t do anything, and this started today only a few hours ago. This can’t be a phone problem because I have the latest iOS on a brand new iPhone 8. I’m hoping this will be fixed soon. I've used this app for a few years, and I've discovered many new artists and songs through this app. However, I've been experiencing a few problems lately. My biggest problem is that sometimes the app will refresh in the middle of a song, and not just pause it, but get rid of the song completely. I'm not sure if I can fix this in my phone settings or if it's an app issue, but this has never happened before. Another issue is that some ads with sound play at the same time as a song, which is obviously annoying. Overall, it is a good app and does what it promises, but with a few bugs.
Deleted My saved stations again
by Piecofwrk on 2018/05/17 08:58
I think this is the third time in around 6 months I open the app and go to “your library” click on a saved station (the only artist station I listen to) and as play begins realize it’s a song I’ve thumbs upped and it’s not again. All the thumbs ups gone, all the thumbs down gone. Glad I don’t have the paid subscription on one hand, and on the other, the ads that pop up and never auto disappear is a real pain as I listen while driving a truck and can’t exactly hit the “x” (conveniently located way to close to the ad itself so you hit the ad) to get rid of them so I can use the the afore mentioned thumb buttons. UPDATE: it’s done it again and I give. Developer response is, as you can read, the typical send us an email. IHeart Media is a mega Corp, they want all their users to help fix their crap app for free and just continue to shove more ads down our throats so they make out like fat cats. The only reason I continue to have this app is because of one morning show I listen too sometimes. If it goes, so goes the app from my iPhone 6s Plus. Developers can respond when the crap is fixed and maybe I’ll check out again. Otherwise, I don’t get anything from iheart media corp, I don’t work for you, leave me and all others alone and concentrate on putting another ad somewhere!
Subscription is too expensive
by StotkaGirls on 2018/10/06 03:55
Almost but not quite 5🌟, would have kept my monthly subscription but it’s way too costly. For just radio I thought, but considering it’s only $15 or so it’s not that bad. It would be great for a disc jockey (DJ) or a wedding event you can actually set up your own play lists so it can just continue playing continuously. Unless you feel the need to have the DJ interact with you like your in a pub or event to interact with the crowd. I’m sure that if you had issues to where you didn’t have a DJ show up for work then this would work for most small town or small scale clubs that’s holding only 50/75 people or so. I will say that most of the time I am able to find just about anything I want to listen when I had the subscription. And I didn’t have to listen to commercials. It’s really nice cause if you are a big music fan who buys a lot of tracks per month then I would just personally purchase a subscription to the iHeartRadio app. It’s just that cool. But being that I don’t buy that much music and I just couldn’t see spending that kind of money per month.
To download or Not to d/l ?
by cbry1188 on 2018/05/23 19:58
I was going to dl the iheartradio Free app & thought I would check out the reviews before doing so. I was quite intrigued by the various array of issues that people pointed out, so I kept reading... first few reviews, I saw the response to the Reviewer’s issues by iheartradio was that they wanted to resolve whatever issues they were having & to please contact (email) them, so they can further address the problem(s). I thought, “Wow, they really do want to make sure that the problem is resolved for that person & seem to be taking that extra step in doing so.” Then I kept reading....I would have to say that each & every review that I read, the response was always the same , “pls contact (email) us, so that we can look into this issue and help you resolve it. “ Then I realized, why wouldn’t they address the issue or at least write down a foot note to the review, addressing the outcome & HOW it was corrected!!! I decided NOT to dl the app at this time bc I’m not if all the issues written about were ADDRESSED & CORRECTED ?? It’s great that you guys address the concerns and ask people to contact you for help -but how about letting the rest of us reading the reviews know how things turned out? Were the issues corrected & MORE IMPORTANTLY, How??
Tricked into automatically enrolling.
by Buckeye chris on 2018/09/15 16:05
I’ll start by saying I love the IHeartRadio app. I’ve been using it for almost 10 years now. It’s great because I travel for work and when in my truck in areas where there’s no local stations I can still have music. Plus I love all the podcasts. For instance I listen to the Alan Cox show that’s airs in Cleveland Ohio. They have all the shows from the past year so even if I miss a day or two I can go back and listen. However yesterday when I opened the app I had a popup window asking me to subscribe to a monthly trial. I tried to close the window and it automatically enrolled me in monthly subscriptions. I’m amazed apps can even get away with this. You basically tricked me into getting the subscription. You took advantage of the in-app purchase and since I have touch ID enabled there’s no way to avoid it. Judging by the reviews and the post on the Apple forums this is happening to a lot of people. I was able to contact Apple and let them know what was going on and have the charges blocked. I shouldn’t have had to go through this process at all. I feel bad for all the people that aren’t going to realize it happened and be billed. If this happens again I will delete this app.
Total exercise in frustration
by BadgerFans on 2018/02/12 17:01
I have a favorite talk show podcast carried on iHeart. For many years, they made it available to me for download. Last year, iheart stopped allowing downloads and forced me into this streaming app. What a huge disappointment. The app can't properly keep track of where you are in the episode if you stop or pause. It will start in the beginning and force us to drag the slider to where we think we were. It also can't seem to keep track of which episode I've already listened to. Finally, it doesn't allow us to place unheard episodes in order. It always starts at the most recent, and forces me to stop and choose an earlier one. One small light in the tunnel. They have recently implemented a download feature instead of forcing us to listen while connected. Problem is, it doesn't work. When I download an episode for listening while not connected, the blue arrow shows up, but I'm still unable to listen off the grid. I spend my life aboard airplanes, so this feature is important to me. The iOS app isn't stable, is utterly festureless, and the UI is clumsy at best. iHeart, you can do better!
Podcasts and battery drain on IPhone
by Yuck 5 on 2018/01/26 02:51
OK - I have to congratulate you on the changes that I actually don’t have to wait an hour to get my podcasts up and running. They don’t turn off like I want to but as long as they download, I am good for now. Thank you! I listen to the podcasts at night and put the sleep timer on. It shuts off the podcast when set but find my phone at 19 percent battery every morning I do that with my phone plugged in. IHeartRadio uses my battery in 24 hours - 85 per cent of the charge. When I use it to listen maybe 4 hours a day - and plug in when my battery is low - this is crazy. Should have left podcasts where they were until you had it fine tuned before rolling out. This is the worst and love my Mark Belling podcasts when I can't listen live. Your setup now is way to hard to navigate because to many different buttons to hit - need the KISS system - keep it simple stupid!!
Way too easy to accidentally subscribe
by brappleye3 on 2018/10/15 16:44
I haven't minded the iHeartRadio app and service and it generally works very well and it’s easy to use. However... I was listening to the radio while riding my bike recently, and pulled my phone out to change the station I was listening to, and somehow managed to accidentally subscribe to the “Plus” service while attempting to lock my phone after. Sorry, it shouldn’t be this easy to subscribe to your paid services, or if it is, it needs to be easier to reverse it immediately so I don’t have to live with a subscription/charges I don’t care to have. I didn’t bother to call Apple to have the charge removed since it seemed like a hassle hardly worth $6. I was able to discontinue the subscription in my Apple account so I won’t get recurring charges. It’s just frustrating that I managed to buy something I didn’t intend to. It should require a few steps to get to the purchase, especially for a recurring subscription! If it manages to happen again, you can bet I will stop using this app and find a different way to stream the stations I listen to.
The app slows everything down and even stops internet connection
by Jesuslovesme4ever on 2018/09/18 08:09
I wanted to like IHeart Radio but every time, I download the app (which I have downloaded and re downloaded multiple times), it significantly slows my internet connection or even stops it. It also takes forever to load one song on the app and much can't be done on the app when a song is buffering. I even tried closing apps and deleting one or two apps and the app still slows everything down- a lot or even stops apps and the internet all together. Every time, I download the app, the internet stops working and as soon as I delete the app, everything on my phone works normally and fast again. I like that there is a decent selection to choose from (although it seems like Apple Music and Google Play have more variety in music) and the radio station selection is awesome. This app would be great if only the app didn't slow things down. I really wish this app worked. If only it were fast and didn't halt internet connection. I've never had these problems with any other music streaming app.
American Top 40 with Casey Kasem!
by wxntrafficfan on 2018/08/14 18:38
Back when I had my car, I was paying $30/month for Sirius XM expressly for the purpose of listening to one Casey Kasem show each week. Someone on Facebook had suggested that I login to iHeartRadio and simply search “Casey Kasem”, and I found a channel that streams just American Top 40 shows from the 70s and 80s 24/7! Being only 25, I was never able to listen to his shows live, and Casey had passed just as I started getting into his shows in 2014. I had previously only kept iHeartRadio on my iPhone and iPad to be able to stream a station out of Grand Rapids, Michigan in November and December each year when they switch to Christmas music. Needless to say, I stream American Top 40 through iHeartRadio at least 1-2 hours a day, and often listen to it for extended periods while at work. Thank you iHeartRadio for making it possible for me to listen to an icon I didn’t get to know until it was too late.
Preffered over Pandora
by Moe The Messenger on 2017/12/23 11:48
I have used this app for about 3 years was pleased with the free version. I’ve seen it updated & pay for it to open up a few more features to find songs, some I can & some I can’t, but I pay the $5.99/month to repeat a single song once & some very limited song searching. I believed this app is good because I can mix genres of music & it’s intuitive enough to know when I need my gospel/Christian playlist vs. the other artists/songs that I’ve like in the past. It also offers suggestions & it doesn’t appear to be so commercialized, I repeat NOT a commercial distribution list of who you are forced to like. Some of my local/Independent artists have songs that I’m able to find. I’m thankful for that. I’m not an iTunes type of person. I hate I lost ALL of my music after switching from an iPhone 4 to iPhone 6s. It made my day to hear my own music that aren’t published on iTunes, so I’m glad to at least be able to search for the ones that I once had on here.
I love the content, but not the updates
by Sammich12 on 2017/12/17 22:34
I first got iHeartRadio on my old ipod on ios6 and I loved it. They had a setting where I could explore music or listen to mostly the same stuff. They did away with that and I miss it. Since then they’ve made the sleep timer harder to access, and everytime I open the app I’m baraged with an ad to try to upgrade to a paid version. I don’ mind seeing that maybe once a week, but I’m using other apps more because I get this annoying self add every time I open the app. It’s also harder to find the most recent radio stations I listen to. It keeps getting harder and harder with the new updates. Lastly, I love the play on start-up feature, but lately it doesn’t work (even when turned on in the settings) probably because of the ad I have to close out of. I’ve dug out my old ipod and I now mostly listen to iHeartRadio from that with whatever version ios6 can handle
Good but could be better
by RyanDred on 2017/11/16 01:15
Honestly, this app is better than pandora. However, my main two issues with it are the dislike feature and the song selections when you choose a specific band or artist. 1. Dislike feature: The problem with it is that if you click the dislike button on a song, that same song will keep coming back later until you’ve disliked it 3-4 times. Then after about a month it’ll come back again 2. Band/artist song selection: My major issues with this feature is that when you choose a band you want to listen to, the app will play almost anything but that band/artist. For example, if you choose fallout boy the app will play a fallout boy song once in every ten songs or so. Therefore what is the point in being able to select an artist. Now I’m not saying I don’t want to hear things outside of the band/artist I have chosen, however, it would be nice to hear the chosen band/artist at least every other song or so.
Subscription
by Funbro1 on 2018/09/19 10:53
I was charged $5.99 for a subscription that I was “tricked” into signing up for. I canceled the subscription within minutes of discovering that I had signed up for it, but ended up being charged anyway. I went to the online help on the iHeartRadio app to verify that my subscription was canceled and there is no unsubscribe button to hit. I then emailed iHeartRadio and received this response. “iHeartRadio Customer Support does not internally handle subscriptions processed through Apple. However, if you need to cancel your subscription, you can do so by following the procedure below:” I folloedthe procedure “below” only to get to a dead end. I sure hope I don’t get charged again, I guess I will have to open up a dispute through my credit card company at this point. In the future I will be very very careful what buttons that I tap. It’s a shame that the app gets updated and changes around so much that it is unfamiliar if you don’t use it every single day. Through the many updates I have also lost my favorite stations and my saved stations, and it gets really frustrating.
Used to work better
by OriginalDino on 2017/11/28 19:57
Before the last update, iHeartRadio would resume the last station I was listening to when it connected with my car’s bluetooth. After the previous update, I started having to hit the channel down button on my steering wheel to get it to start playing. Fine, whatever. But since the last update even that no longer works; I have to open the app and manually tap the specific station I want. Every. Single. Time. Also, since the last update, every time I start the station, I get a 30-second video ad. Uh, a VIDEO ad, on iHeart RADIO? Seems a bit self-defeating, especially since many of the video ads have no audio indication of what they are advertising. So I’ve just learned to turn the audio down to zero when first starting, until the word ADVERTISEMENT goes away from my radio display. I tried iHeartAuto once, thinking to would be better suited to what I wanted, but that app was completely hopeless.
In A World Where Danger Is Everywhere...
by Pastorlarry on 2018/11/07 19:10
I was a subscriber to a popular satellite radio company who shall remain nameless. 🤔🤷‍♂️😂 Well, I found myself in between jobs and needing to find a way to stay caught up on what was going on in the worlds of sports, current world events, and the like. I had downloaded the iHeart Radio iPhone application a few years ago, but I never used it. Actually, I had forgotten about it due to the metal plate in my head negatively reacting to the use of my microwave when preparing my burritos. (My bowels would release and I would forget who I was for about an hour or so.) Anyway, I decided to utilize the application so as to experiment with and experience the full effects of the frequently promoted pleasure of said application. I must say that I was quite amazed at the vast and diverse selections at my fingertips! I am very thankful for the opportunity to listen to my favourite programs! I give this application 4 stars due to the excellence in which they approach this stubborn, never say die medium known as ”Radio.” Download it now and find out what you are missing! Also, if you too have a metal plate in your head, your reception will increase by at least 80%! iHeart radio and unlimited data...it is like heaven on earth, it is like Ireland without the pipe bombs. It is 🎯💯 GOLD!
Don’t waste your money
by Lilmama88888888 on 2018/02/06 14:59
This app isn’t even worth downloading the free version, definitely don’t throw your money away for the paid version. 30% of the time I can’t get anything to load on here. When I actually can get it to work, it takes about 3 minutes to load. It rarely remembers where I left off on the podcasts. For example, right now, when it started up, after 3 minutes of waiting, it started playing a podcast I had already listened to. I kept trying to go to the Podcast I had already listened to about half of. The circle around the play button would go around and around for about 4 minutes and then it would go back to the previous podcast. After about 8 tried and wasting 20 minutes, it finally played the one I wanted, but started back over at the beginning, I had to spend another 5 minutes figuring out where I left off. There are so many other places to listen to music and podcasts, go elsewhere, unless you like constantly wasting 20 minutes of your day waiting for things to load.
I do love the radio options
by Cherie Fairy on 2018/08/09 06:06
Although there are a few things I feel that could be better. I feel like skipping songs shouldn’t be an exclusive thing only paid membership people can do an unlimited amount of times, cause on the radio station that is titled my name’s favorites, a lot of stuff is mixed in there that I don’t actually listen to. And also, despite giving them the thumbs down, they reappear again. What’s the point of giving that song a thumbs down if it’s just going to show up again? I know I’m nitpicky, but these are things I feel that could make the experience better for the users that can not afford a membership or a subscription. Cause right now I cannot work and I wanna listen to music how I want to...and that’s skipping over stuff I don’t like to get to what I do like.
Better than Pandora
by LolaBre on 2018/11/17 03:49
I tried Pandora years ago before iHeartRadio came out and it would give me a few songs based on what I tried to listen to but it never quite hit the nail on the head so I stopped using it. When iHeartRadio came out, I used it because the radio stations I listened to made you go through IHR to listen online. I assumed it would be the same as the other but gave it a shot and realized for me it was way better. I could put in a song title or artist and IHR gave me a better selection than the competition ever did. I love the variety it added over the years by looking up music by decades, graduation years etc. I haven’t used it to it’s full potential but I’m very satisfied with what I have used it for that I haven’t explored more of what it has to offer yet.
So many new problem
by Clarence kidney420 on 2018/10/06 19:23
Since the last update the app has been going crazy I pay monthly every month and it switches songs in the middle of listening to a song volume goes up and down like crazy and you can never find a number to talk to a person it makes me not want to pay with card monthly fee tried the free one does the same thing I would’ve given five stars but the new update messed it all up. They just keep saying it’s going to be fixed by their developers but they are not fixing it it has been almost 2 months paying $15 a month and they still have not even change thing and the only thing that they said was that they were working on it it’s all bull they don’t care about the people paying money the only way to get in touch with them is by email don’t waste your money they are as stupid as most people are these days horrible customer service maybe if they fix my radio station correctly I will give them a better review to be continued ?

by Tmama711 on 2017/10/28 11:57
I use this app every single day to listen to my local radio station morning show. I’ve never had an issue, always runs really smoothly, except for an occasional “dead air” or skip in the middle of a song. I don’t use it for much more, not even rating songs. Here’s my problem... I turn it off when I’m ready to walk out the door to go to work, and it randomly starts playing again. The app is completely turned off and closed. This happens several times a day. Even while I’m at work. I ended up deleting the app and reinstalled it hoping that would fix the problem. It didn’t. So I deleted it again to ensure that I wouldn’t be humiliated at work again by the random music playing from my purse. I download the app again because like I said, I listen to Elvis every single day but this is getting seriously old and annoying.
App Issue
by Fjohn52 on 2018/12/05 04:29
For the third time, the app has gotten me to sign up for the $5.99 monthly version when I didn’t intend to.
Too many repetitive commercials for radi
by Hagarpun on 2018/07/05 12:07
I like the app. I use the app for listening to my favorite radio station, WTKS 104.1. It can be glitchy at times, but I think it may have to do with cellular issues. The reason why I’m giving it 2 stars is because at every commercial break, it plays the same commercials over and over and over. I know the commercials played are a way to generate income for the app but it’s ridiculous how many times these same commercials are played. I personally will not ever buy any product or service from any company advertising on real radio because it’s sickening listening to them over and over. The funny thing is is that a lot of other listeners will complain about the app for this reason, on the air. Now, if I could pay the subscription to get more local commercials, I would pay for it not to hear the same commercials over and over and over. Are you listening iHeart radio?
So many songs I never wanted to hear
by LusitaniaAngel313 on 2017/12/20 09:10
So the only reason why I’m not ranking this 5 stars is my own favorites station. Before I had a pretty finite selection and I was cool with that! Now I’m flooded by songs I don’t really care for and it seems if I thumb them down, they return days later (example being Uptown Funk which I completely despise)! While yes the station will play some of the songs I do care for, once they switch to what they THINK I like, good luck getting my songs to play again. Also it annoys me when the same station flat out quits and won’t play anything! Like it ran out of content! Now I will admit this station has pulled some interesting surprises like pulling Jump by Rihanna to the station which made me happy as can be. I still listen wholeheartedly because where else can I blast CENTURIES into my ears? ;)
Best Radio App
by BUST123 on 2018/07/22 02:11
EDITED: The one issue I had was resolved. I use this app frequently and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you. ... Aside from the following issue, this app is awesome. I love the ability to listen to radio through my phone. Hopefully this gets resolved, my rating would be higher. Nearly every time I open the app, it automatically tries to make an in app purchase and asks for my finger print. This has something to do with the pop up offer that comes up every time I open the app. Instead of allowing me to dismiss the offer, it acts like I clicked on it. I could easily have accidentally subscribed to your paid service if I wasn’t paying close attention. Based on the reviews, this appears to already have happened to several other unsuspecting users. Please find a way to prevent this pop up from showing up every time I open the app. I understand you need a source revenue and have no problem with advertisements. But I’m not interested in making any purchases and would like to enjoy this free app without the risk of accidentally paying for a subscription each time I open it. I will update my review when this is resolved.

I love it. Amy is my favorite. I drive all day starting 430 am to 5 pm doing deliveries. I listen all day, Monday thru Friday. The local host lean a little left, but they always give the other side. They are fair. I listen to RUSH, Tom Sullivan and the Sheriff. And then Kitty takes me home. You have a great staff. Your news is informative and accurate. The CBS affiliate reporter sometimes is not. Your station will correct that immediately. I appreciate this station because they don’t try to sway my opinion. I appreciate all the hosts and like your line up. Of course RUSH is right leaning, Tom is middle of the road and the sheriff puts the topic as it applies to the law. I like that. I don’t care for his “deputy “ fill in host and miss the sheriff when he is gone. Love all of you. Keep up the good work!!
Better Than Radio
by Alphadogtucker on 2018/01/25 18:39
I use this app every day. You can “create” “stations” that play music similar to your choice such as a band or style, although choices off the mainstrsam can be very limited. For example, if you choose Taiko, it won’t be long before Zaideco or Euro muzac is playing. IHR has a great selection of AM and FM radio stations. Great for listening to the news back home or that talk radio program that doesn’t play in your area. The trade-off here is the repetitive, ear-grating PSAs and ads that they play over the stations’ ads. If I could, I would pay the subscription price just to get rid of those awful PSAs. Don’t forget podcasts. IHR has a great collection with many categories. I listen to several about business and career skills. My favorites, though, are Ben Shapiro and Wretched Radio. Shapiro is a sharp political commentator who examines all sides and does not let party loyalty or ideology get in the way. Wretched Radio keeps you aware of movements and deviations from biblical Christianity but without the judgmentalism (except where it’s been earned). There are so many choices, it’s impossible to keep up. And you don’t have problems with interference or fading, as long as you have a good Internet connection.
it's not as grand as it was
by Allanah M. on 2018/04/11 20:30
The principal of it was splendid. The last update that I’ve done completely changed the look. The look is nothing. Nothing compared to how it works which has changed dramatically. I can’t access my saved stations. Saved not meaning my favorites as they were different on purpose. The app now starts off playing the last station and if I want to change the station I have to go through my now limited ability to see stations to do so. Clicking on it doesn’t change it instantly anymore and it takes ages for it to load a list I personally don’t care for and change the station. It’s overly complex for no reason. Having a list is fine after you’ve started my saved station or if it was a new station for me to see what would be on it. I throughly dislike it, and I forgot why I didn’t update it. I will go through iTunes and undo the update.
Stop the REPETITIVE ads!!!
by Bears99 on 2018/01/10 15:27
An American Red Cross ad played 15 times in a row today. That is ridiculous. This isn’t the first time either. It happens every time I use this app. Also, it seems every few months the ad that repeats over and over changes. A while ago it was about Jimmy and his grandpa talking about light bulbs, then it was about Alison and seat belt safety, now it’s for blood donation. I’ve written about this before and you replied saying “we need to have ads to support us to give you the best musical experience”. Well listening to an ad on an endless loop is hardly a great experience. So now every time I hear the Red Cross ad I know it’s going to repeat so I have to restart the app. Somethings that works, but mostly it restarts the ad repetition all over again. So I just have to sit there and listen to the ad until it stops. It happened today from 10:15 am through 10:25 am EST. I was listening to the Loop. You need to fix your crappy ad algorithms.
Used to be the best but now
by wndyeliza on 2018/02/16 05:36
I down loaded iHeart Radio several years ago and was a very loyal listener because l could get any artist l wanted even some of the lesser known ones ( NOT flavor of the year types). I’m punching in favs having a good time. Well, lost my job and hasn’t opened the app now l find all of the things l used to do for free l get the opportunity to pay for. Why do l have to pay for their bad management? Yes, l know they almost went bankrupt, but why are you screwing the fans? We are the ones who come to the festivals paying big bucks, so now l get to subscribe to get my unlimited plays back, what does that hurt you guys that you need money for it? If you’re that close to going BK then re-organize so you don’t hurt the people who came to you in the first place and kisten to your stations on/off the app. You have a good thing, don’t get greedy.
STOP HIDING SAVED STATIONS!
by Hansoloicanthearyou on 2017/12/21 22:20
This new update was the last straw for me. Every update the app gets less and less useful and harder to use. First off the “for you” page is completely worthless. Stop making that the landing page. Second, every single time you update the app it becomes harder and harder to find my saved stations. It is sooooo annoying! I should be able to just hit the app and it starts playing the last station I listened to. Sometimes it will sometimes it seems to have no idea what I listened to last so I have to hunt around the app to find my saved stations. Then once I get used to how to find it you update it again and move the saved stations AGAIN. The landing page should be simple - recently played stations and then your favorite stations on a scrolling list. I shouldn’t have to hunt around the app for 10 minutes trying to find them.
Love for my local station, BUT....
by CoolMomsRock! on 2018/10/10 17:38
Few things I don’t like. I considered paying for this because I use it a lot and was interested in the other paid features. Glad I used the free trial (since canceled). I used “my favorites” that’s supposed to play just what I’ve liked, and it played a mess of songs that not only didn’t I like, I’d most certainly never made the effort to click like in the first place. I prefer the pandora option of being able to create a station based on multiple songs or artists. And lastly, hello... why offer a “lyrics” option if there are never any lyrics available? Nothing worth than an ear worm with lyrics you know you’re not hearing right. So I ‘ll continue to use multiples until one music app gets it 100% right.
Tricked me into paying for a subscription
by MigrantFarmer on 2018/08/03 14:30
About a month ago, a pop-up got me to click on a free trial that I didn’t care for. Clearly, the X to exit the pop-up is too small, and you can unintentionally hit the ad instead of the X. Once the free trial ended, another pop-up came up yesterday when I was trying to turn on iHeartRadio. I thought I dismissed it, but a message kept coming up asking me to enter my iTunes password. Every time I dismissed that iTunes password request, it kept coming back. I assumed it was for an update, so eventually I just gave in and entered the password. I didn’t know it was to make a purchase. There was no other indication that the password would force a subscription. That is shady as hell. This company is pathetic for taking advantage of people like this. It makes sense why they are doing this forced subscription trick, though. These guys have been losing money since 2017. Nobody cares about their trash app.
Charges for the Plus?
by PrilWag80 on 2018/08/17 19:00
*Update, I have received a refund after several calls and chats with Apple Support. I am still not happy that there was not an email sent from IHeart radio telling me my free trial was ending so I wouldn’t have to go through all of this. I have sent them an email stating such. I am very unsatisfied with how I was treated when it came to being charged for the IHeart Plus which I didn’t even notice a difference in my app to know that something was different. I did not get a notice that I was about to be charged for something that I don’t even want and when I contacted support all I got was “well you know better for next time sorry we can’t refund your money even though you canceled on the day it was supposed to renew.” So in the end I paid $5.99 for something that I didn’t want. The least you can do is send an email to people saying Hey you are about to get charged if you don’t cancel so I would have known.
Radio with a heart
by Big Big Big Big A1 John on 2018/07/21 04:46
I love listening to Q 95 in Indianapolis. I even want to great so the concert tickets to go see Joan Jett and the black hearts Have a great time, fantastic concert. I would love for you 95 and I hurt radio to sponsor my wedding. I was a schoolteacher and was injured by a careless/rumored to be drunk driver. I have been through a great deal of therapy and testing to deal with by Trumatic brain injury. I met a wonderful woman who understands me and cares about me even though I have a serious brain injury. Raising money for the wedding has been extremely challenging, we’re not looking to do anything elaborate. Even a simple wedding is very costly. It’s amazing what a wedding dress cost. I’m hoping that I hurt radio will see this and being a radio with a heart help sponsor the wedding.
What Happened?
by Chjvhjgcgvfvvbcgf on 2017/10/12 10:38
This app used to be great but they removed a lot of good features. A few problems that I have include not being able to make stations from songs anymore, and the app is slow because it loads so many ads. When I try to scroll through the recently played stations, it stops often and loads the "you have been selected for a free month of premium" but I don't want to use it yet. Another problem I have is that I can't seem to find the list of recently played songs where you can like or dislike the songs. Since the app loads ads often I press the skip song multiple times thinking the app is just being slow and I accidentally skip a song that I like and want to press like to add it to my favorites playlist. If you removed the recently played songs feature, please bring it back.
Great music system, it's better than public radio!
by Safety Valve on 2018/03/22 22:20
I highly enjoy listening to this on the PC and my phone, I can listen to music off season... no other normal public radio station (such as the ones you listen to in your car) can do, other than I Heart Radio, just plug in your favorite music genere (mine mains ones are Smooth Jazz, 80's and Sometimes on a blue moon Hoiliday music, when I am feeling "In The Mood") I remember listining to I heart radio as early as 2010 or 2011 in High School (we did not have a system at home that could support sound at the time) I plugged Smooth Jazz in the search tab and my enjoyment with the company grew if you could give I Heart Radio 10 stars I'd Give it 10/10!
What happened?!
by dcastro11057 on 2017/10/28 12:58
This app used to be my go to music listening app while I was at work and in the car. I loved it. But ever since the last few updates this app has really turned horrible. The app will randomly open itself and start playing music WITHOUT me even touching my phone! I was in a meeting a few days ago, phone on the table and on silent, and out of nowhere music starts playing. I quickly grabbed my phone and it was this stupid app playing music. It happens a few times now throughout the day. I have to keep my phone volume on silent and keep checking my phone to see if it’s playing. It’s really annoying. And also when I am actually listening to music it will just randomly stop playing for no reason. I’ll have to open my phone and hit the play button to get it going again. Please fix these issues and turn the app back to the great app it was.
What is the point?
by widwidricsas on 2018/04/23 10:45
Build a station based on your favorite artist they said. Type in the name and hear all the best songs. It is not as though I chose a one-hit wonder. A group with 16 studio albums and numerous concert albums, going back to the 70s, and I have heard TWO songs by the group I actually selected. If I had wanted a general 80s mix, I would have selected an 80s station. Call me ignorant, call me naive, I thought an artist-specific station should, you know, feature that artist. This is why I depend on my old iPod for music, and use this app for one talk radio station. I wanted to hear Styx. If I wanted to hear Boston, Foreigner, and REO Speedwagon, I would have entered their names. TL,DR: your song selection algorithm is bad and you should feel bad. Update: The developer responds and suggests I “upgrade” to a paid service, if I actually want to hear the one artist I want to listen to. How about this instead: One star and uninstalled.
Needs larger library, and higher quality streaming.
by yarnalt on 2018/01/30 20:02
It could be great if they would increase their song catalog by about 20 million, and give more options for streaming quality. In this highly competitive day they won’t be able to compete unless they can offer more instead of less. Not having streaming quality options is just unacceptable. As is not having a high quality setting that reaches at least 256kps. The $4.99 pricing tier also needs an option for offline stations. Another issue that just came up is random popping on all stations. This doesn’t occur on any other streaming app. It’s annoying enough that I can’t listen anymore. This shouldn’t be an issue on a service steaming such a low bitrate. I want to love this service but I won’t be back unless the popping is addressed.
Been using since it first came out...
by Weaslebub on 2017/09/13 23:27
and still love it! The ads can be annoying when switching between stations but it usually isn't an issue unless I'm listening to a ball game or talk show and want to hear something again. That's when I switch to another station that I know is 15-45 seconds behind the one that's on. The 30+ ad pops up and I miss hearing it again. Still haven't figured out the frequency of the ads though - they don't appear every time I switch stations, just when I'm wanting to hear something again 😶. All in all, seems to be a great app, a great business, and a great sponsor of up and coming talent.
Tremendous App!!!
by str8nlvl on 2017/12/27 00:14
NOTE: Changed my review to 5 ⭐️ b/c of an email from the Developer. The pop-up I saw, I interpreted as a MUST DO and not an option. As I said in my review, we love this app and use it often. Thanks to the Developer, we will continue to us it now on our Alexa. We listen to this app every time we have a long road trip and we have them often. I would give this a 5 ⭐️ but now my Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPad is saying they need to update the app and it will cost over $5/month to listen to the radio with this app. There are many free apps to use without paying to listen to iHeart. As much as we like and use it, I refuse to pay to listen to it. So long iHeart! 💔
Terrible for podcasts!!
by Flu this on 2017/09/25 14:04
HATE this app for listening to podcasts, which is what I primarily use it for. I listen to quite a few podcasts and recently a couple of my favorites stopped uploading to my iPhone podcast app, forcing me to listen in this app. It's terrible. It won't let me listen from oldest to newest, which makes the most sense. I can't set it to turn off when current podcast is over, or choose another podcast to play "up next". IHeart, if you don't improve your podcast playing features ASAP, you will be losing a listener! PS another check mark against your app: this is the THIRD time I've tried to post this review. After I was all done, it told me the nickname I chose was already taken. Then deleted my whole post. I was smart enough to copy it after the first time. Would be nice to know right away I had to choose another nickname instead of at the end. 🙄
The classic American top 40 station is about done?
by r$sam$ on 2018/08/25 05:46
I’m close to end my long time listening to the American Classic Top 40 as instead of being relied on to play one set (show! of the 70’s and then a show on the 80’s! It seems they nearly always seem to be playing 80’s shows one right after the other! This drives me nuts as I’m not huge fan of the 80’s music shows as I am the 70’s shows as it’s the ones I grew up to! I’ve been using iHeartRadio app for years mostly for the American Classic Top 40 Shows. I’ve used the free version for over 7 years or more. Sadly my phone recently was broken into so my sign up info on this one is more recent than this one is as a result of having to change the info. I won’t purchase the ultimate subscription which I think is the best value mostly due to being a disabled vet on a fixed income. But on top of the fact that your missing a number of live stations that I think should be on the app, then your impossible to contact for both customer service issues & for purchasing advertising, and of course finally my biggest pet peeve of all is the not knowing when a 70’s show is going to air on American Classic Top 40? Thank you for hearing my concerns. Sincerely R.
Favorites station
by 44?$886)? on 2018/06/27 15:18
The favorite station aggravates me. Just because my wife listens to one Shakira song for my kids want to hear the kids station while we’re driving in the car absolutely does not mean that I have thumbs up those things I do not want to hear those on my favorite station that I’m listening to at work if I didn’t click the thumbs up I don’t want it on my favorite station I don’t want to thumbs down because then it will never play it again for my wife so it’s very aggravating. Also there is millions of songs out there there is no reason I need to hear the same song four times in one day on my favorites radio plays a big loop of the same songs over and over again you could pick anything from the genres of songs that I have thumbs up already so many possibilities.
Tired of listening to ads
by StoicSquirrel on 2018/11/15 11:28
I don’t know if iHeart is trying to get us to pay to remove ads or what, but whenever I try to pull up my favorite local station (106.5 The End), all I get is a never-ending loop of national ads. They’re not even local ads, and it’s the same ten or so ads OVER AND OVER. Switch to a different station, sometimes it goes to the live feed, sometimes it doesn’t. I just got done trying for over ten minutes to get 106.5 to actually start playing the live feed, to no avail. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it. I’ve done a hard restart of my phone. I’ve logged out of the app and logged back in. I’ve even tried turning on a real radio to see if maybe Woody and Wilcox were on commercial, and nope, they’re live on the air. This has been happening for months now, and until iHeart gets this issue fixed, this app is worthless to me!

Works great on Apple TV

I like the idea that the streaming radio station shows as an icon on the screen and plays in the background while I’m browsing other music.
Unethical Trash

Overall I enjoy the service.

by scorpionxx0 on 2018/12/05 21:59
I’ve been using this app for years to listen to music while I do stuff on my computer.

If they fix these problems I will give it a higher rating.

by Lillybean25 on 2018/12/05 10:20

App Issue
by Fjohn52 on 2018/12/05 04:29
For the third time, the app has gotten me to sign up for the $5.99 monthly version when I didn’t intend to.

Congratulations, guys. When the “new and improved” app starts up, the app immediately prompts you to purchase the upgrade to iHeartRadio Plus for $5.99/mo. You’ve now found a way to gouge as many unsuspecting people as possible with your worthless iHeartRadio Plus.

by Disgruntled Charter Member on 2018/11/25 14:08

Loud, screaming ads
by The Blizz Kid on 2018/11/25 11:54
I’m ok with ads & commercials. Maybe make them more appropriate for the genres. I don’t want to be yelled at while listening to soft, sleepy music- especially after I’ve been tossing & turning for 6 hours & finally drift off, only to be awoken by an annoying ad. I know how important the ads are to this app. I love this app. I brag about it all the time. The ads are getting ridiculous though.
Too many popups clickbaits
by EDsReview on 2018/11/25 11:17

Ghosts Playing With My Phone??
by Tmama711 on 2017/10/28 11:57
I use this app every single day to listen to my local radio station morning show.
