Has turned into bloatware
by Bangbangboogie on 2016/05/02 01:16
Started out as a good app to find songs. Now it's a massive bloat that takes so long to open that the song is already done.

by ReeReekabibi on 2016/05/01 19:04
Amazing.
Ha! BROKEN
by Ambient Rage on 2016/05/01 16:58
Since the update of this app, Shazam no longer is able to recognize the music. The app just tells me I'm offline and to try again.
Offline??????
by Blondie761 on 2016/05/01 03:03
It keeps showing that I am offline, but I am connected with both wifi and cellular. I can't even login.
NEEDS LYRICS
by perseusavior on 2016/04/30 23:45
Overall I like Shazam to figure out the names of songs that I don't know, but the main reason I use it is to look at the lyrics of songs and now you can't do that :/
Horrible
by sethroington on 2016/04/30 23:23
I used to have Shazam and loved it--it always worked and I never had an issue! However, for some reason they decided to update the app and it is HORRIBLE. Never works. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Get Soundhound
Review
by ChinaDollHammerPVP on 2016/04/29 19:28
This worked for my Chinese song
Could be a lot better
by ChcCardinals on 2016/04/29 19:16
It works great on MOST songs, but on newer or less heard songs the app doesn't recognize the song and says to try again. For the most part very good however it could be a lot better.
They've broken it
by Tactician17 on 2016/04/29 12:10
About 90% of the time that I launch Shazam, I do it to check lyrics of a song. The lyrics were displayed on the page as soon as Shazam identified the song - they weren't always the correct lyrics, but they were there. It seems that they've now either removed that feature outright, or they've hidden it to the point where they may as well have removed it. I guess I won't be using Shazam anymore.
I hate this latest update...
by RebeccaS2 on 2016/04/28 06:19
Ok the last few updates have really changed this app - I got it originally to find out the names of the songs playing in the background of my TV shows. Now the last two revs have made it so that even if Shazam recognizes the show, it either doesn't list ALL the songs or it doesn't list ANY. Why? I mean you guys will list the songs from the stupid commercials but not the songs I actually want.
Don't believe the negative reviews!
by Zana bana on 2016/04/28 02:01
If you look at the bars, you see that it has a lot of negative reviews. But it isn't all that bad! It matches the names of shows, movies, and songs. Plus it gives you an option to go to Spotify to put that song on your playlist. It also keeps history so if you want to know the name of that song you shazamed, you can just go to your history. Also if your offline it'll retry the same Shazam when you're online. Overall, it's a great app. Get it!
New update ruined it!
by Bkb78 on 2016/04/28 00:49
Where did the lyrics go? Wish I could un-update 🙁
I hate this.
by January 7 on 2016/04/27 23:49
I hate this. I hate it so much. I've been searching for one goddamn song for half and hour and guess what, I can't find it. Yeah, great.
Horrible!!!
by Charles96 on 2016/04/27 13:54
I just want to pull my hair out. This app stinks!!!!! Couldn't even find the basic songs.
Doesn't ever recognize the song I search
by Riggz83 on 2016/04/27 02:41
Recently I've been searching songs...hasn't recognized the songs I searched for the last month.
"You're offline" error
by Mju 2356789 on 2016/04/26 21:58
I don't understand why this error pops up. I have cellular data and wifi and both are always turned on and connected (except for wifi if I'm out). Fix this!
Awesome
by Dinamadzola on 2016/04/26 20:46
I love Shazam . It has helped me discover so many songs and artist that I would have never known .. Just touch and Shazam
Just way to frustrating
by Calisparkz on 2016/04/26 18:32
Probably 7 times out of 10 I try and use Shazam it tells me I'm offline? Even though I have 5 bars of LTE available...what's that all about? Then I just delete and ask Siri "who sings this song" and she tells me right away, Shazam is just terrible and way too frustrating to keep on my phone.
Slowest App out there
by vysebr on 2016/04/26 12:02
You wont be able to identify a single song due to the fact that it takes forever to load the "social media" part of the app that noone uses
So cool app
by Simbasis on 2016/04/26 04:36
Hihi
Suggestion
by Mr_Mister15489 on 2016/04/26 03:19
Maybe add feature where you could "sing" or "hum" the melody of the song to find the song name. If you can do that...
Flawless
by Fuk App Store on 2016/04/26 00:59

Great app
by ScorpionTriton on 2016/04/25 08:47
This is a great app. Very useful. Has almost a 100% match rate. Is nice how Apple Music has been integrated, it would be very cool if Rhapsody was also included on the integration. That is the only reason why I do not give 5 Starts. Other than that app works very good. Makes you discover new songs every time you use it. Love it!!!
I like it but......
by Miser 321 on 2016/04/25 00:41
Why did you remove the locations of where a song was "shazamed". It was very helpful.
No longer helpful
by iab2014 on 2016/04/24 21:48

Terrible
by N. I. G. on 2016/04/24 19:15
Doesn't ever get any songs
So so
by I'macountrygirl258 on 2016/04/24 16:32
I mean when you want to know the song it says it can't here it so you have to crank the stereo up and sometimes it still can't here it!
Great for Finding Music you Don't Know but Like!
by Windighost on 2016/04/24 00:27
With a bit of background noise turned off, it found the music I was looking for! Amazing app!
Could be better
by Boa220 on 2016/04/23 22:51
For starters there's the homepage which auto subscribes you to artists you Shazam, why would they introduce the homepage and the second superfluous feature is something I still cannot wrap my head around. Also in previous versions you could listen to the preview and go through other songs. However, this version you're stuck in the song your previewing. One more thing that really grinds my gears is what I'm watching TV and I hear a good song in an ad but I would like to see them but instead it shows me the program I'm watching. Hello I already know what I'm watching!! Update April 2016: Now they've taken away the ability to search songs that you have just Shazamed
Hijack Advertisements ruined it. Worthless.
by Micho21 on 2016/04/23 04:42
I was on of the first people to download and promote use of this app several years ago. It did one thing very well and very fast; tell you the name of the song playing. Every time I open the app now I have to clear my screen of all the popup ads that hijack my phone or try to get me to sign up for some monthly music service before I can actually 'Shazam' anything anymore. I have missed out on many songs because it now ed takes too long to use the app for the one thing it's supposed to do. Also, it seems like it is loaded up with more and more junk every time I use it. This used to be such a great app and now it's completely worthless. BTW, I will NEVER buy any product from ANY Advertiser that Jams their ads down my throat and disrupts use of any device. You just fired yourself. Deleting this App as of 4/23/16
Okay But Five Song Limit
by Paul in NJ on 2016/04/23 04:32
This works fine but there are other services that don't put any limits on the number of songs you can identify per month.
It works

It works and that's what matters. Love it!
Love love love
by CrabbyBlabby on 2016/04/23 02:07
I use this app to keep a log of music I love. It's by far my most used app and I recommend it to everyone! Sometimes though it tags a different song - this happens especially with classical music.
Work very well when there is no noise
by just1lucky on 2016/04/23 01:56
I am impressed by the technology but it requires almost 0 background noise

I'm so excited!!
by @PDCnickname on 2016/04/22 03:33
Siri was able to recognize a song playing on the radio just now. 'IT' then suggested I download this app from the Apple iTunes Store. Previously I spent money on both the paid upgrade for removal of adds, both through the original app and then their new 'encore' version. Either way, the free version must be the best one since that's where Siri gets her music. I wonder what sort of royalties it has to pay.. This is awesome !
My Shazam Search Bar
by 200 in1 app on 2016/04/22 03:13
Their needs to be a way to search for songs in the my Shazam section just like their was. That search bar needs to come back to the my Shazam section of the Shazam app just like it was before.

Works pretty good and comes in handy all the time.
Worse with every update
by Jstelar on 2016/04/22 01:49
Every time it gets more bloated. It takes more time to open and shows a bunch of useless stuff. Better to just ask Siri what song is playing. To see your history, just go to iTunes app and click on the top right icon.

by tulips4tashi on 2016/04/21 22:25
Overall, the app is very useful, however, I'd love to see Touch ID security added, so I don't have to manually enter a password to access it.
Best. App. EVER.

This is the BEST app ever for music fans that gave no clue what a song is, or who the artist is. THANK YOU!!!

by Shazam doesn't work. on 2016/04/21 21:47

Great App To Use

This app is convenient to use and works great. Pete Carroll is a 9/11 truther.
Frustrated with the bugs
by rbegg on 2016/04/21 18:59
I delete a Shazam and it is synced back to my phone less than 5 seconds later. It is beyond annoying at this point. Please fix the software.
Too slow to use
by AngryAngry on 2016/04/21 16:35
The app is now so bloated with ads and "social" features that you typically can't use it to identify a song before it ends. The interface used to do one thing and do it well but now it is a confused mess. It's now useless for its intended purpose.
Great app
by KillerWithSkillz on 2016/04/20 22:36
I always have this app on any phone I have
Amazing!!!!
by Detimil on 2016/04/20 21:43
This app is amazing. I really wanted a lyrics app and this did just that and sooo much more. Many songs lyrics move along with the song. And even cooler, i had it listen to a song on dancing with the stars and it recognized that it was from the show and gave me all the couples songs for that episode. Just figured this out and im mind blown!!!
Good apps
by Tran2012 on 2016/04/20 19:12

HELP!!! 😓
by TjsWorld2011 on 2016/04/17 13:10
I was finally able to get this app since I got an iPod touch 6th generation a month ago, and I must say it's a really great app to use if you want to know what song's playing right away if you're connected to Wi-Fi. And you can even Shazam music offline, because when you connect to Wi-Fi after, it identifies the music that it's recorded with your device's microphone. I use this app if I wonder what song's playing on the radio or in public. My only complaints are that you can't turn off automatic following of artists you haven't followed yet on the app after you Shazam their music, which I would appreciate it if you could turn them off. EDIT 4/2/16: HELP!! I tried Shazaming some tracks and saw that there were two of each of the tracks that I shazamed when I went to My Shazam list, so I deleted the duplicates but for some reason all of those new Shazams were deleted altogether!! This suddenly has become an issue for me when using the app, and I really wish it was fixed!! 😰😰😰
Has never failed me.
by Elrond4242 on 2016/04/17 05:19
Yes there are ads. But it had never failed to ID a song for me, correctly.

by Ryan BurnsRed on 2016/04/16 20:23
This app is great for finding out the names of popular songs of today and classics that are well known, however that's as far as its usefulness will go. For other lesser known songs it will either fail to identify or give the wrong song title and artist.

Gets worse w/ each update
by Fuegotaino on 2014/05/29 12:11
I paid $5 for this app a few years ago..so why is it that I'm seeing advertisements disguised as "trending now" pop up while I wait for it to listen to a song? Maybe because this app has turned into just another promotion-heavy interface that connects you to either a site full of ads (FB, Ytube, etc) or a paying site (ie. iTunes). With each update they seem to slip in more and more ways to advertise just short of displaying a full time pop-up bar across the screen. What about the actual function of the app to match music? Well, unless you're listening to what's being burned into your ears by radio stations that don't seem to have much more than an hours worth of the same repetitive songs, you can expect to wait several seconds before it finds a match. And that's only if the song is an American song. In English. God forbid you ask it to match a Spanish song-even if it's been played out in the radio more than a Pit Bull remix. With satelite radio being almost the standard, I would expect this app to be able to tap into the vastness that is the internet to match a tune. Especially when I can manually look up the chorus in iTunes and find it's true title. I mean, the app's main ally is iTunes! Is it too much to ask that it comb through iTunes' database to match a song before telling me a match couldn't be found? I guess that's too much coding for a measely $5 app. ..or maybe they're too busy figuring out new ways to promote crap.
Excellent Application ***Works Very Well***
by RobertBody on 2009/04/29 21:42
This is an excellent, one of a kind application which works very well, and i can't give other than 5 stars, but... *Sometimes I only catch the last 5 seconds of a song, but Shazam keeps recording for the following 10more seconds, then cannot match. If i could press "STOP RECORDING" button to only have those 5 seconds, Shazam probably could find a match -- this could be the case for TV commercials, or in a movie theater when the song is only played for a few seconds, and I want to know that song... also the startup speed i talk about here: *The startup is slow which leads to missing a song at times. There is no need to have slow start, load within a second or 2, no need for graphics yet, download graphics interface after sending/receiving song data. *"Tag Now" button should be Way bigger, it should be twice as big, twice as wide *I would pay $1 for NO ADVERTISING, it only takes away from the feel *Excellent idea to keep a record of previous Tags in past days, weeks........ but don't load all that initially, that's a reason for increasingly-longer startups because there is more and more data to show.. but i do want to know what i looked up weeks ago, so load that only once i click "My Tags", just not on startup.
SHAZAM vs SOUNDHOUND
by ladedaniels on 2016/04/10 04:57
SHAZAM - I honestly don't CARE what the "trending shazams" were from all over the world, in every conceivable genre, over the last however-many days - I WANTED YOU TO IDENTIFY THAT SONG THAT WAS JUST PLAYING!!! But you almost always blow it, because first you have to load a million pages of useless crap that I don't care about before you'll even take a stab at my song! SOUNDHOUND - You couldn't ID two pretty popular songs based upon the lyrics "So wake me up when it's all over, when I'm wiser and I'm older" OR even "I'm just a little bit caught in the middle" when I typed them in. Oh, I got LISTS from SOUNDHOUND - based on song titles, lyrics, and album names - but not one of those lists had the actual songs that I was looking for on them. SOUNDHOUND does a somewhat better job with songs being played in movies, TV shows, and commercials - whereas SHAZAM will chug and chug (until the song is over with), then hand you the name of the movie or show that you're already fully aware you are watching - along with a big, crappy rendition of the movie poster - as if it were a gift. I even wrote to SHAZAM about it, and I received a very timely response saying that it "shouldn't do that" - apparently, it should have given me a list of songs. Well, I agree - but it never does. The lyrics that both offer are good, and show up fast, provided that either app bothered to ID your song in the first place. Is there a THIRD option out there for song identification?
What a genius of an app!
by Xenopherus on 2009/09/08 22:14
WOW!! I'm in awe of how well this handy little app works. A few weeks ago I was at a bar and there was some old butt-rock song playing on the radio I hadn't heard in years. I sat there wishing I knew what the song and artist was. Toward the end of the song I remembered I had shazam on my iPhone. I fumbled through all the other apps and finally found it, struggled to get it working (it was the first time I ever used it) and finally got the phone to the speakers in the last few seconds before the song ended. I was certain there hadn't been enough time to tell what song it was, yet after a few short seconds of processing, it found the song! Today I was at work and wanted to know what song was playing. The store was noisy and I couldn't get the phone close to the speaker at all. Customers were around, so I kept having to put the phone down so I wouldn't look crazy. My manager finally appeared so I clicked the sleep button. I heard shazam "ding" but figured it meant I disrupted the search. Once I got home and checked, lo and behold, it found the song that had been playing! After only a few seconds nowhere near the speakers! And the app is free! FREE I TELLS YA!!!
It's the ish!
by Peter Piccolo on 2014/02/27 01:36
I love my music and it's even better hearing new music that you do not know any information about, and with the simplicity and elegant design of shazam it now is as easy as pressing one button and being able to know everything about a song!!! Can even see videos now!!! My only negative response and also my recommendation to the designers is to eliminate the glitching when the app is already been opened in the past and sometimes will glitch out and not ready any sound input basically the circle stays the same and doesn't register any noise!! The only way I have been able to fix this is to close the shazam app from multi tasking and reopen the app basically just to close and reopen the app and them the song can be found and the circle responds to sound input and is able to work again!! Please designers of this app please find a solution to this it happens daily and is such a pain is the arse and sometimes causes me to miss out on that song and not have enough time to close reopen and ultimately use the all efficiently enough to capture the information on a song that I hear that I want to know the name of!!!
Good app until auto feature jacked my phone
by Fallen Tree on 2014/10/12 06:18
Everyone else will tell you about the good to this app. But since their new update with the stupid auto feature, I don't trust having this crap on my phone. I used it for one song, and then a red bar keeps flashing at the top of my screen telling me that shazam is constantly listening. Nice auto feature. Didn't even have to turn it on. It put that part on auto too. It also took the concern of having to shut off the auto feature in app by automatically not allowing me to do that either. Keeps popping up a connectivity error randomly every time I switch it off. Convenient. Also won't let me turn off banner notifications in my settings anymore, which used to be off. Turns out it was too much work for me to not have to worry about my privacy or security before, so now shazam kindly auto fixed that too by what I can only assume is a virus now implanted in my phone with the last update. Whatever virus or bug that came with this new update isn't anything I'm going to worry about. So app deleted. I guess I'll have to go about things the old fashioned way when I don't know a song..... Like grand pappy did back in the good ol days of horse and buggy, and rotary phones. I'll have to google it. Or maybe just ask the person next to me.
This is amazing
by ChapinRat on 2009/02/16 23:03
I'm just floored. Example: I'm sitting in a coffee shop this morning and I hear a song that sounds pretty cool, but I have no idea who's playing so I go to Shazam. It does its thing and tags the song without missing a beat, and I didn't even move from my seat to find a speaker or anything. I just tapped "tag now." Then I bought the song. (I hope some of the record companies are helping the creators cover any costs because it's going to make them lots of money.) Previously, I'd used Shazam to finally name some of the songs I've had unlabeled on my iPod that came on friends' mixed discs or what have you. I didn't know all of the names, so I played the song, hit "tag now" and got all the info to type into iTunes so that my catalogue is completely devoid of nameless songs now. The program was only unable to recognize two of the 60 songs. Both were house-techno mixes (like I said, friends' junk, not mine :-P) that actually don't appear on any record that I know of. Impressive. Seriously, this is amazing. Match this up with Genius and you're going to be exposed to tons of new music in no time. So much fun.
To Date, Free for US Customers...Works in Department Stores
by Reese the Law Girl on 2008/10/14 18:51
This app is amazing. I've had it since July when I bought my iPhone 3G. It picks up about 90% of the songs I throw at it and these are not all popular songs. Some are pretty obscure. Also, I just used the app in a department store for the first time and it picked up the song no problems. I admit that there wasn't a lot of noise in the store (like at Walmart or Target), but still it did pick up the song even though the source volume was pretty high up in the ceiling. I have used this app in the car, at home watching television, in the movies, everywhere. I've also tried Midomi, but Shazam has produced waayyy better results. Also, I don't know about European users, but I just want it to be clear that in the US this app is totally FREE! There is no subscription fee, service charge, etc. to use this app if you are a US customer. Again, I've had it since July and I have NEVER been charged. I can't predict what the future will bring, but I just want to make it clear that, as of right now, the app is totally free to use for US customers.
No Fees According to Shazam, True!
by J Stizzle on 2008/10/13 14:59
This was Shazam's Response to the question "Does Shazam Charge you Anything for Their Service?" Thanks for writing in to ask for clarification. The application is free and Shazam is not charging you anything for using this version of our service, so don't hold-back from using it! Unfortunately there seems to be a few, ill-informed, reviews circulating at the moment that Shazam will start charging you. While we do charge for our UK 2580 and Wap service, the iPhone application is free to download and use. With respect to our applications in the future, we'll communicate with you regarding upgrades or new application versions via the App store itself - you'll get little indicators for upgrades, so don't ignore them. We will look to enhance the application and continue to bring our new features, and, we may need to upgrade the application in order to continue to support the free version, as it does cost us considerably to provide the service. Keep posted but don't worry, we're not going to abruptly shut-down your Shazam.
Great, use daily
by HBSteve on 2009/12/13 18:52
Omg some of these reviewers are idiots. No it does not charge your AT&T accnt. Yes it's free. Works great 95% time even offline (how I use while driving) and submits when you have Internet. Great for those who want to know what that song on the radio or tv is. Only suggestions could be press middle to start tag press again to stop since may hear a commercial or something with music and just want to catch short clip. And for offline clips some reason after failed attemps they sometimes get removed - please fix. --------- Have not seen limit others talk about perhaps they just added but my prob is everytime update or restore iPhone even with everything synced all tagged files are lost. So kinda got tired of tagging just to lose them in few days so this alone would keep me from buying full version so add sync/email tagged song info once recognized so we don't Lise them and would be simple easy fix and make much better. I also agree with others about price - since you make your money on music sales as well 1.99 should be top price for full ver. $5 just isn't worth it
Ah, wonderful technology.
by Kickimus Buttus on 2008/07/15 23:15
There have been so many occasions in my life that I have heard an amazing song at a rave, dance, or on the radio, and was left with only a memory of the song's tune. The progression of time inevitably renders any possibility of finding said song completely useless, and I am left with the feeling of being an utter failure. So frequently have I scrambled to find a pencil and a writing surface in an attempt to scribble down song lyrics as I hear them, only to find that my perception of the words being said were horribly incorrect. Things like this can ruin a person's day - knowing that an opportunity to find a potential favorite song was lost due to being unprepared. Well, never again! In under five taps of a thumb and 10-30 seconds, I can find the title of practically any song, with the only exceptions being world premiers or obscure homemade remixes. The speed of this service, along with the search accuracy and no price, make this a must-have for anyone looking to improve their music library. Absolutely amazing, 5/5
Best App in the App Store!
by danthecomputerman on 2009/03/26 03:35
At first when I got this app, I was very surprised at how well it can recognize a song, and I'm still very impressed! I really like the fact that you can even have it listen to a song, then get all the info when you have either an EDGE, 3G, or Wi-Fi connection. So now, if I hear a song on the radio or any other source, even if I don't have a Wi-Fi connection, I can just plug in the Apple headphones with remote and mic into my iPod Touch, and then just put it up to the audio source and have it listen to the song. Then, when I connect to a Wi-Fi connection, I can have Shazam get info for songs that it has previously listened to! Also, Shazam can also keep a history of songs it has previously listened to and tagged, so then you can know the name of the song so you can download it for later. The ability to download the song from iTunes and other places is very nice! I also like the fact that you can do all of this for free! This app has not even crashed on my iPod Touch yet! Great job Shazam!
Looks like everyones now unhappy
by Happy Guy without the app on 2010/08/10 06:24
I don't understand why the makers have to be greedy. The world has enough things to get angry about. The makers are just adding themselves to the list. Why? Do you think that people will just stop giving food to the homeless and start charging them $5.00 for something that has always been free. How do you think they would react. Then how do you think they would react if they walked all the way from their shelter for this free food every day for a couple of years because they were promised it would be there since they had been coming for so long and had a list of food they always picked up and then all of the sudden the food bank wouldn't give them what they said they would anymore when they got there. They would starve. I believe this app is doing this to all they're loyal customers. You don't promiss a homeless person free food and then charge them and take everything back you gave them in the past and charge them for it. It's just not right! That's cold! Burrrr.... The homeless would starve in the winter from no warm soup bc of you people! How awful! R.I.P. Shazam once a great free app now a greedy expensive dark app that lost all it's loyal customers and stole their money like candy from a baby.
Read this is you LOVE music!!!
by Ana_22 on 2011/07/09 06:01
I will admit to being a self proclaimed music freak. My iPod is filled with music from Frank Sinatra to Daft Punk. I will listen to just about anything as long as I like the way it sounds. Music to me is an experience, a private moment of bliss, a part of someone's soul- a piece of them to the very core of their being. This app saves my life on a daily basis. I can be listening to the radio and a song I have never heard pops on and rather than having to try to weed out the song title from the lyrics or hope the radio host will tell me what song it is for at least the artist (which they rarely do anymore!) I can pull this app up and let it listen to the song for about 10 seconds and BAM! there is the song I was looking for- title, artist, album, and then it gives me a button to press to take me to iTunes to buy it. So, if you love your music and often have the problem of trying to figure out what a certain song is- get this app! It is truly amazing!!! :D
Used to use this, deleting it now....
by Skeptical345 on 2010/02/10 18:38
I found Shazam when it first came out, encouraged friends, family and coworkers to get it and use it. It worked as advertised, in the last few months however it seemed to be missing more songs than ever. Now the upgrade will only do 5 songs a month!? I regret doing the upgrade, even though the quality of the tagging seems to have gone down in recent months. I can understand offering a "better" or more featured version for a higher price. But the company actually removed functionality from their existing users and then offered to allow them to pay for functionality they used to have. Shazam has benefitted from Apple including their software on TV ads, they have gotten very good buzz for a cool "got to have it" app. Now the company has really blown it. I will use Time Machine to return to the previous version and warn everyone else to not upgrade to this newer, "better" version. The greed of some companies is amazing, rather than doing a cost/buying calculus that says a .99 cent app will sell 1 million copies they figure a $5.00 app will sell 2,000 copies, somehow that will make them more money.
Great app
by acolddayinhoth on 2010/01/26 21:23
It's really useful, especially when seeing shows like CSI, since they use songs in every episode. The only thing I have a problem with, is the fact that the splash screen stays on too long. Many times, because of how long it takes, I'm not able to identify a song. Other than that, it's five stars for me. And it isn't 5 tags a month if you own a previous version of Shazam. I you're new to shazam, then yes, it is 5 songs tagged a month. I use both Shazam and Midomi, and well, suffice to say they both work the same, for me at least. As long as you don't make a lot of noise while tagging, theyll both identify the song correctly. So either or, for me. They're both good songs identifiers, however what's good about Midomi, is that it can identify a song a lot quicker than Shazam, and Shazam is free, I'm sure with future updates the amount of time needed will be lessened with Shazam. Only a matter of time. U
Works great, but...
by Hockey jack 71 on 2013/02/22 20:20
I have had the paid app for years and find that, in general, this app works great. It is extremely rare that it cannot identify a song, even in loud environments where the music is in the background. I have two complaints that they should address: 1) we used to be able to sort tags by song (or artist). Now you don't have ANY sort option. I will often tag the same song several times (oftentimes just to see the lyrics during the song) and end up with lots of duplicate tags. My other complaint is about the lyrics. Please don't show a lyrics option after I've tagged a song if you don't have them in the database. The tag options below the album cover are not the same for all songs, so obviously not every song has the same options, but the lyrics option is always there, regardless of whether or not they are available. How hard could that be to program these two things? I would change my rating to 5 stars if they could fix these two frustrating things.
Terrible - does not work
by Antaeus Feldspar on 2013/07/31 22:54
Previous versions of Shazam were great: they identified songs, let you find lyrics if they were available, got you information about the artist, made it easy for you to purchase if you chose ... Now the app is useless crap, because it doesn't do the one thing it's supposed to: identify songs. If you don't have a good enough Internet connection when you're listening, you're screwed; Shazam may claim it's saving a "pending tag" but there's never any way to see your pending tags, re-submit them, nothing like that. Oh no, the app is WAY too busy telling you how you can buy "the FIAT song" to, y'know, do what you installed it for. Did I miss something in the help files? I thought of that. That's why I checked in the help files, where I found instructions for submitting pending tags! Instructions that didn't work! Gee, maybe because they were written for THE PREVIOUS VERSION of the app? How I wish I could go back to the previous version of the app - but then I would only have NORMAL-sized ads telling me every single time how I can buy the FIAT song, instead of, y'know, a song I'd actually listen to.
HELP!!! 😓
by TjsWorld2011 on 2016/04/17 13:10
I was finally able to get this app since I got an iPod touch 6th generation a month ago, and I must say it's a really great app to use if you want to know what song's playing right away if you're connected to Wi-Fi. 😰😰😰
I'm not against people making money but...
by gonzoid on 2010/01/23 14:58
I will not update the version that I have if I can help it. I really loved the creativity and innovation displayed in this app. Heck, I'm sure that Apple sold a lot of iPhones just on this app and the commercials and user experiences. I've demoed this app to many friends and they are amazed. And now? The idea of paying for the functionality that I had in the beginning is leaving me with a bad taste. To deliberately cripple an app that made the iPhone experience so remarkable and then price the 'real app' so high to get the same functionality is just so nasty and rude. If the paid app were something more reasonable I'd bite. I don't use it much, to be honest, but it has settled many bets in movie theaters and presentations. Like I said, I'm not against y'all making money. I'm against the underhanded way of extorting money. Make the paid app 0.99 or even 1.99 and I might buy it. Your innovation and programming prowess were your own downfall and apparently you think you are unable to top it so you seek to milk it for all you can get. Nothing from me folks... Nothing. Sorry... It's the principle of the thing...
Great application, although it could use some updates.
by A.V.B. on 2009/06/24 02:05
This isthe application I have been waiting for! I often find myself wondering the name of a song or the artist of a song when im listening to the radio or in a store. I have the iPod Touch and the Apple Headphones with Remote and Mic, so I brought my iPod to the mall and in a store simply held my iPod in the air untill it was done listening. Since this app needs Internet access and if you don't have internet access (Wi-Fi on your iPod) it will not tell you what the song is right at that moment, although, when you do get internet access it will find out all of your information. One thing that this should be albe to do, is recognize a song if someone hummed and sang it. Although I should not complain because this is free. I look forward to the future updates, and if you are a music lover this app is for you!
I am crazy about this app.!
by Cinatrin on 2008/09/26 01:42
Ever driving in your car and listening to a rockin song on the radio and wonder, "Wow, this song rocks! Is it new? Who sings this?" But you wait for the D.J. to announce the song and title but of course, he doesn't this time. That's when you bust out your shazam. So far it's been really accurate at identifying the songs. Then they are available for purchase. It's slightly eerie how it knows though. It's like a man is sitting out on the street in a van with head phones, listening to the music and identifying it for you! I've read it doesn't do well with classical or techno, but just today it identified a dance songs with no vocals, just accoustics. I'm sure it depends on the song. It didn't however get the 'local' songs around here. (I wouldn't expect that anyway.) Overall it is a great app! And free!!! Just try it out for kicks.
💖LOVE and deleting and reinstall won't Del tags
by Kylie55 on 2015/10/20 23:14
Ok- the last update didn't go so hot... BUT... Your Q&A which I found on google helped. Well I panicked first. After my hard reboot of my iPhone (turning it off) the app disappeared! I keep tags of song so want to buy or song so love but haven't heard for a long time that I want to make a playlist off of so I was like did my tags delete!?!?!? Great news no they did not!!! Please add that to the Q&A but I'm putting it here for all people to hopefully see!! Ok on to the love! Thanks for bringing back 1/2 the screen to instant Shazam vs when it was an ad first that sucked! But hey I get you gotta pay the bills!! But I need to Shazam quick because sometimes my phone isn't handy or I might not realize hey I like this song so time is of the essence. Love the lyrics and all the options. This app I've needed my whole life. Thank you!!!! 🙏
It even works with TV!!
by milkchoclt on 2009/12/27 07:41
I know a lot of people are griping about the update, but I have yet to experience what they are talking about. I got this app way back and, even after the dreaded 5 song-a-month update, I'm still not experiencing a limit (well over 10 tags last month). I used to get angry when I'd change a station to catch the middle of a song I really liked, and get all the way to the end of the song hoping that the radio show host would name it, only to find they'd do it about half the time. As long as my phone is with me, I never have to worry about that again. And like I said in the title, if enough of a clip is playing in the television show/commercial you are watching, it will be able to tag it for you. I've tried it a couple times so far, and it WORKS! It's worth having as a utility app just for this feature.
Does this even work at all?
by itsthatguyphil on 2012/05/11 13:09
Now that I got my new iPhone, I went on a bit of a frenzy checking out new Apps that I had been waiting to try. Shazam was one of them. I read the (few) great reviews and eagerly downloaded it. If this program works at all, I have yet to see it. When I mean it's worthless… I mean, it does NOTHING. First I tried checking a somewhat obscure punk song which was a minor hit in the 1970s. Nothing. Then, switching hearts, I had it listen to both Justin Bieber and Rhianna, both doing their current big hits. Surprisingly, again nothing. The App kept coming up blank with "not found" messages. If it cannot figure out two of the biggest stars today, then there is something very wrong with Shazam. On top of my complaints, I spoke with someone randomly later on, who told me he too had gotten Shazam and laughed when I suggested it would supposedly tell us any song. He too said "worthless App that does absolutely nothing." So, there you have it. Two reviews in one. Not inspiring. PLEASE tell me if I am doing something wrong. So far, I have followed the instructions carefully.
Quick, amazing, and with broad usefulness!
by Aimlessphotography on 2014/05/19 15:13
The capabilities of Shazam just keep amazing me. This is a quick review, so I'll just say that when I was watching a movie, I pulled up Shazam to figure out what was playing in that moment. It was a classical piece that I recognized but couldn't immediately name, from a movie decades old. Shazam not only got it immediately (within 5 seconds--wow!), it knew that I was watching this particular movie, as opposed to listening to a record. How do they do it?! Having lyrics scroll by as a song plays is terrific fun, too! It's especially nice in a public place where I can embarrass my 12 year old by belting out something wholly inappropriate for a 42 year old father to be singing. Oh such good times! I have used Shazam since its founding and continue to rely on and love the service. Keep it up, you're doing brilliantly!
Nice program but could be better!!
by Horizon666 on 2008/08/10 17:49
I really like this program, the interface is very nice and i like when it vibrates when finish recording the song so i don't have to peek over my phone that i'm holding near the speaker like another program. It's fast and accurate a lot better than another program. I tested it myself between the 2 programs; midomi and Shazam and Shazam is better when it comes to searhing for a song. Some songs that midomi couldn't find it, Shazam got it. However, i have to keep both because I really like other functions of midomi, Sing or Hum a song and Type a song name or Artist. If Shazam had these fuctions, i would've deleted midomi wihtout hesitation. Also, I saw the comment said that Shazam will need a monthly subscription, i hope it's just a rumor but if that's how it has to be, please don't bump the price too high but would be very happy if it stays as it is.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD UPDATE - NEW LIMITS
by amkim on 2010/07/03 07:53
I was really disappointed to find out that years after using this app (and always telling friends to download it) the makers of Shazam decided to start limiting the number of uses per month to 5, unless you paid $4.99 for the upgraded version. First of all, there should have been some sort of warning, it was really alarming the way they had zero concern for their existing customers. And because of that underhanded tactic, I just can't bring myself to pay for something that I've been receiving for free for so long. Had the upgrade changes been transparent, and only cost $.99 or even $1.99, I would have done it, but $4.99 is a huge and greedy price jump. Such a shame, had they allowed existing customers the same access and only required new users to pay a fee, they would have kept their fan base & their popularity. Since they already make a lot of money on the ads within their app, they basically just shot themselves in the foot because they are now losing their faithful users and in turn, their rating has declined.
really exceptional
by Clypsedra on 2014/06/01 08:22
I am continually amazed at how well this thing can find songs. Even if its quiet or people are talking over the song, or it hears the last few seconds of something, this app hasn't failed me. It's now my number one way to find new music - every time some am g sounds good I will quickly capture it and most likely end up buying it later. The only two tiny things I think should be modified are the load time, which isn't a huge deal but can feel long when you're at the end of a song you want to shazam, and I wish the song previews in the app were as long as iTunes'. You start up the preview at the same time as iTunes' but it stops sooner, and opening iTunes takes forever. Previews is how I always know if I want to buy a song or not. Five stars, never deleting this app!!
I LOVE THIS APP OMG YESSS
by Zte user on 2015/09/26 18:12
Guys, seriously, whoever you are, applause for this freaking app, 5 stars, I would rate it 100 if I could, I heard a small portion of a song a few months ago in the background of a show, and couldn't quite understand the lyrics so I could never find the song, my boyfriend referred me this app and I decided to give it a shot by playing that part of the show, I didn't think I would find the song because it was in the background behind talking and all, but literally with in seconds I got a name, I played the song, and there it was, the song I gave up on ever finding, and thanks to this app, I now have it downloaded and I'm so so happy, this is the best friggen app ever and I exaggerate that as much as I possibly can, please keep it up, I'm loyal to you, you're now stuck with me for life. THANK YOU
Excellent
by Lucas Boland on 2008/09/05 15:37
I'm very pleased with this product considering it's (currently) free. I agree with one of the previous posts that it's about 90% accurate depending on the music style. I listen to XM in the vehicle and it picked up MOST of the music. I tested in on the Bluegrass, Jazz, Latin, and World stations with mixed results. The bulk of the music it located quickly and accurately. Several songs it retrieved incorrect information but mostly just listed unable to locate. I even tested it in a few environments of low music volume and background noise with suprisingly accurate results. I'm very pleased with it overall and have recommended it to others already. Now the only thing it needs is to be able to allow the user to sing the song. I'm always remembering words and tunes but can't remember the artist. Unfortunately I'm not sure that there is any technology that can make up for my lack of tone.
Great have not had a song miss yet

I mostly use it for songs on the radio. I have tag some songs of movies. The app surprised me when tagging from movies, even with people talkin in the movie it was able to pick up the background music. Most of my tags have been classic rock and have not have a miss. It crash on me once but i rebooted my iphone and have had no problems since. i am really happy with the app. i have not been charged for anything and remain to use the app for free. but i have read the user agreement and it does say they hod the right to charge u for the use of app. since it is already free i dont see the charging in the future. it also says in the app that if u make more than 477 tags in one month u get booted. i dont know y any one would do so many tags though. forgive me for my grammar have fun
Amazing
by Borg17of20 on 2008/07/13 21:56
I was definitely skeptical at first. These services never really seem to work…but this, this does. I haven’t tried singing into the microphone on the iPhone to see if it picks songs up that way, but from a speaker or just from the ambient surroundings, this is 100% accurate. The most amazing thing is, it even picked up a background song from a movie I was watching (21 – aprox. 58min. into the movie – the reggae music playing during the bar scene). The music was muted and barely audible over the ambient noise and dialogue of the characters, but this little app had no trouble identifying it as Estelle feat. Kardinal Official – Magnificent. Midomi, a similar app also available as a free download, did not return any results under the same test condition. Based on this and other tests, I’d have to say this is superior (at least, for now).
Works as described
by tun3luvr on 2008/09/21 23:03
I've tried Shazam on 10 songs so far, 2 on XM radio, 2 from a tv show, 3 from a movie, 2 from a cd and 1 from a tv commercial. The count is 8 of 10. It missed a song from a movie but it was in the background with dialog being spoken over the music and it missed the commercial, I'm not even sure it was a published song or written for the commercial, I was just goofing around with the app and thought I'd try. However, it did find an Oasis song from "Made of Honor" but when I tried to download it from iTunes I was told the song was unavailable. I was able to download Gold Digger which it found while playing on MTV. All in all a great app that will be very usefull for times a song comes on that you really want but can not identify. I can already see my iTune bill going up rapidly.
Still Unable To Restore Upgrade Purchase Made On Another Device
by crichton007 on 2014/12/17 18:26
I bought the upgrade through this app to Shazam Encore but after getting a new iPhone and setting it up as new rather than restoring from a backup I am unable to restore the purchase. The app tells me there was an error and that’s all. I have contacted Shazam support more than once. It takes a long time for them to reply and when they do they ask me for information that I’ve already provided. When I provide it again they take a long time to reply again and as for even more information I’ve already provided previously. I’ve basically given up on using this app because they’ve got my money and won’t provide support. The bottom line is I recommend getting SoundHound over Shazam. Not just because Shazam won’t give me what I paid for but SoundHound even allows you create an account to save your tags. I know Shazam does this but they require that you authenticate through Facebook whereas SoundHound does not.
Shazam Rocks!
by TayEskew on 2015/10/19 20:11
The Shazam app is an AMAZING tool for music lovers! I have a very eclectic taste in music, and often hear something that really catches my ear and I am dying to hear it again. I use Shazam on almost a daily basis, and so far it has been incredibly useful! I love the ease of just pulling out my phone to figure out what song is playing, versus the “old school” way of trying to remember the lyrics and google it once home. I also use the app for aspects of my job to determine what artist works well in a professional environment, and then broadcast a Pandora station. Overall, this app is great! My only complaint is that sometimes the free version has commercials that start up upon opening the app, and can cause you to miss the song. Other than that, it gets 5 stars from me!
Breath Taking
by Yosmel on 2008/07/13 22:02
This app is utterly breath taking. At first I was skeptical because most applications like this are klunky at best. This time was different. Being skeptical as I was I loaded up a random song from my Itunes library and played it at a very normal sound level (much lower than I would normally play it) and simply held the iphone in my hand while Shazam did its thing. Seeing how I had the music playing pretty softly and I didin't even raise my phone near the speakers (they're mounted on the wall) I was almost ready for it to show me some whacked result. It didin't. In less than 15 seconds Shazam listened to the song and gave me a result (albeit this was using Wi-Fi... if you use 3G the speeds should be no different) that was dead on spot. You the price (FREE!) you simply *cannot* beat this quality.
So Disappointing!
by kizziesings on 2010/06/14 08:25
I was so disappointed to get this message saying I am only allowed a maximum of FIVE tags a month. FIVE?? Are you kidding?? This has to be a joke. I've had this app as long as I've had the phone and it has been an utter delight to use. This was nearly heartbreaking. You're ploy to get me to upgrade was quite feeble and misguided. All you made me want to do is delete this app. If I can't use it, what's the point. I thought the perk of getting the paid app was more music, and other privileged options. Why would you take away the feature that the app was actually meant for?? That makes NO SENSE whatsoever. It's almost comical when you actually think about it. And then to read the reviews and see that it's apparently something you changed for the upgraded version also? Not good thinking on your part. I'm actually one of the pretty lenient app reviewers out there. I've never scored an app this badly before. Talk about destroying customer loyalty. Take away what you've already givens us. That's just stingy.
People, please !!!
by Gusn't on 2010/08/07 05:14
Every one is right, this app was great before the stupid update with a limit of 5 songs per month. First of all, read the reviews before updating !!! You would known in advance about the limit, then you would never updated !! Second, if you decided to update on your iPhone, do you know that u can still have the old version that is saved on your computer as long u dont make the update on the computer also ? I have had this app since its release, and i still have the old version because i was smart enough to figure this out. Next time, try that ! So simple... Now that i have all 3 iPhones, on all of them i had the old version of this app and it works just perfect !!! Hope this helps for future updated that aint worth doing ! 
It's ok
by redemR on 2012/08/05 08:16
This app can't compete with soundhound. Soundhound has more reviews, higher ratings, it also supports live lyrics and song searching, as well as being able to sing, hum, or play a song to the mic with accurate results in 5-10 seconds! It will even detect your own music in your library and automatically show the lyrics in sync with where you are at in the song 95% of the time, and there are literally tens of thousands of songs that support live lyrics with more being added each second! Also, for all you people complaining about shazam crashing? How about you listen for once. Just delete the app, restart your phone/iPod touch, download the app, and restart again, this will fix 99 out of 100 apps, not just with shazam. So please, do yourself, and the shazam people a favor, and submit a real review after you realize it was your stupidity, not their fault.
How things have changed for the worse! It disappoints and waste of your time!
by Mr-macgee on 2012/10/27 13:06
How things have changed for the bad! This app has been a waste of my time. Version 5.0.8 I have been so frustrated lately trying to use this app, I use to love it. When I try to find a song that I hear and would use Shazam to help me identify it but most of the time Shazam can't find it, it much worse now than it use to be; I have no reason why. Another huge gripe is lately if I hear a song on the tv and try to use shazam it gives a whole list of songs from the program or movie instead of the single song I'm listening to. I have no idea which one it is and I will have to spend a lot of time just trying identify which it is by playing & listening each one in iTunes. Usually the song I want isn't even listed, the list of songs given to me by Shazam associated with the movie or show is completely false. What a waste of time and I feel stupid having wasted the time scanning through all the stupid songs not related to the show but you have idea until you get to the end bottom of the list in hopes that's the one. It fails me now about 80% of the time and takes a lot of my time trying in hope if finding a song. I must admit I do like music that is not the top 20 pop songs but more intentional and alternative music but my taste has not changed. Shazam use to be much better 2 yrs ago. They really screwed Shazam up.
Classic but without Classical
by sharksfin on 2009/01/10 02:01
This is a great app to use with friends although you lose the feeling of being the resident music expert when you have to use the app. I really shouldn't complain because this is a free app that works extremely well for modern music. Unfortunately for classical music it's not very good. Pieces are often long and if you miss the introduction or you're simply not able to stay in your car or stay listening until the composition is over, it can be tough to ever hear that piece again. I think classical music is the hardest to identify which is why I hoped this would do that. Otherwise you're likely to hear music like Beyonce telling you to put a ring on it over and over and eventually you'll figure that out without an app.
Did it past the test...not quite - it didn't recognize me!
by j30journey on 2009/03/19 23:47
So my husband is introducing me to the many wonders of the iPhone - justifying his need to keep the toy claiming it's a tool. We've been out house hunting, and find new things all the time to amuse ourselves as we drive from place to place. Being a musician myself, Shazam is certainly one of them. We made a game out of playing 'Name that Tune', and Shazam helped make that possible! A song would come on and my husband, who claims to know the title of every song, would shout it out. Granted a lot of times he was right, but Shazam certainly let him know when he was wrong. It didn't recognize my voice when I sang into it, but upon further review, it's part of their disclaimer that it's only recorded music. Lots of fun, and great for when you just can't remember the name of the song!
Can't decide between Shazam or Midomi
by halwaterman on 2009/02/23 21:02
I have them both right now, but don't like having 'duplicate' apps cluttering up my space. Eventually one will win out, but right now, they are sharing space. Shazam has a much bigger catalogue so it can find a lot of obscure stuff. This is where Midomi fails. However, Midomi can search by more than just holding up the phone to a speaker, currently the only wat Shazam can search. With Midomi, you can do a type search, you can even sing or hum in to the phone! I have tried this several times, and I'll tell ya, it's hit or miss. Sometimes it nails it, other times it comes up with too many results, and other times it comes up with nothing. This is an awesome feature and needs to be perfected. If Midomi expands their music catalogue, they will win. If Shazam adds the search by voice feature, they will win. Let the competition begin!
incredible!
by shentzu on 2008/07/13 22:00
i didn't even think this could be possible, in fact i was telling my wife just last week that recording song snippits to search for them was the one thing i wanted google to get to work on. well someone beat google to the punch! thank you shazam! the only downside i see is that the link to itunes doesn't always work, but since it saves the "tags" for later if you need them, not a major issue. still, a lot impulse buys to be had there. i am still blown away by this app. and yes, it is even free. Apple should be paying them for songs bought after linking this app, i know it would have bought me several in the past, and i am sure it will in the future. 6 stars people. this one goes to six.
Perfection redefined
by aryayush on 2008/07/26 12:10
This is just plain perfect. It's an application that you assume would screw up every once in a while and are ready to pardon even if it works half a well as advertised. And yet, it works just as well as advertised. It has recognised every song I've thrown at it from every source I could think of. There hadn't been even one failed try --not even one. You don't even need it to listen to the lyrics, it works just fine even if all you have is the music part. I'm in awe! It also works with Hindi songs from India -- every single one of them. I'd been contemplating giving it four stars because I always believe there's room for improvement. But not here, this one deserves five stars and then some. Grab it without a second thought.
This App is Perfection!
by McFlyMan007 on 2014/12/16 02:05
Shazam does what it's meant to do to the max! The options to share the music you tag is glorious and the option to have it run in the background is brilliant! I enjoy this app not just because of the well thought out layout and service it provides, I enjoy it because it gives me happiness in the long-term, by allowing me to listen to the songs I love that I've been searching for but don't know the name. I recommend this to everyone who's in the position of not knowing the name of a song that's playing. Just "shazam it you'll get the name in less than 2 seconds." And it's true! It's so fast and determining now it blows me away, it's even the reason why I wrote this review was because of how much I liked it's speed <3
Bloated! What is this, Windows??
by Revan1123 on 2016/02/14 21:21
Oh god. Years ago when I paid money for Shazam encore I loved the simple user interface. Years ago they started adding more "crap" to make the app do more things than what it was considered groundbreaking for: just music identification. Now you can buy concert tickets and live lyrics and listen on 4 different apps if you have accounts and more and more useless junk that just distracts me. I deleted the app and went for soundhound. While it is just as bloated it's 29MB in size, compared to Shazam at 49MB! What is the big difference in size for?? I used to love this app when it was simple and did not induce adhd in me with all the tiny squares and clickable links and crammed "features." Shazam, please make an app that is JUST music identification. Skip all that social media crap. Just one button. Please! You can beat Soundhound if you do this. And I would be willing to pay for it- as long as you don't **** it up like you did with Shazam encore (and free version).
Too little, too late..
by Peelage on 2016/03/02 15:05
Considering the popularity of this app, I am surprised it took them so long to get songs to sync between mobile devices. Soundhound has been doing this for years now, flawlessly via iCloud. There are multiple failures on this app, especially if you are upgrading from Product Red Encore. I was charged twice by hitting ‘restore’ a previous purchase. Some of the interface, including the restore purchases page looks like it was made for iOS 4. I am guessing it has not been updated since then, because guess what? It doesn’t work. Still a long way to go for this app, including updating the Mac app to support and get all of your songs truly in sync, across ALL devices. They’ll get there I’m sure, but with the popularity, I am shocked at how slow developers are. Great song recognition, hence the two stars. Other than that, look elsewhere like SoundHound for your audio recognition needs.

Has turned into bloatware
by Bangbangboogie on 2016/05/02 01:16
Started out as a good app to find songs. Now it's a massive bloat that takes so long to open that the song is already done.

Ha! BROKEN
by Ambient Rage on 2016/05/01 16:58
Since the update of this app, Shazam no longer is able to recognize the music. The app just tells me I'm offline and to try again.
Offline??????

NEEDS LYRICS
by perseusavior on 2016/04/30 23:45
Overall I like Shazam to figure out the names of songs that I don't know, but the main reason I use it is to look at the lyrics of songs and now you can't do that :/
Horrible
by sethroington on 2016/04/30 23:23
I used to have Shazam and loved it--it always worked and I never had an issue! However, for some reason they decided to update the app and it is HORRIBLE. Never works. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Get Soundhound

Just way to frustrating
by Calisparkz on 2016/04/26 18:32
Probably 7 times out of 10 I try and use Shazam it tells me I'm offline? Even though I have 5 bars of LTE available...what's that all about? Then I just delete and ask Siri "who sings this song" and she tells me right away, Shazam is just terrible and way too frustrating to keep on my phone.

by ScorpionTriton on 2016/04/25 08:47
This is a great app.

I use this app to keep a log of music I love. It's by far my most used app and I recommend it to everyone! Sometimes though it tags a different song - this happens especially with classical music.

Worse with every update
by Jstelar on 2016/04/22 01:49
Every time it gets more bloated. It takes more time to open and shows a bunch of useless stuff. Better to just ask Siri what song is playing. To see your history, just go to iTunes app and click on the top right icon.

Too slow to use
by AngryAngry on 2016/04/21 16:35
The app is now so bloated with ads and "social" features that you typically can't use it to identify a song before it ends. The interface used to do one thing and do it well but now it is a confused mess. It's now useless for its intended purpose.

by Detimil on 2016/04/20 21:43
This app is amazing.

HELP!!! 😓
by TjsWorld2011 on 2016/04/17 13:10
I was finally able to get this app since I got an iPod touch 6th generation a month ago, and I must say it's a really great app to use if you want to know what song's playing right away if you're connected to Wi-Fi.

Great app

Great have not had a song miss yet
by anschnaller on 2010/01/30 17:51
I mostly use it for songs on the radio.
Let the competition begin!
incredible!

i didn't even think this could be possible, in fact i was telling my wife just last week that recording song snippits to search for them was the one thing i wanted google to get to work on. well someone beat google to the punch! thank you shazam! the only downside i see is that the link to itunes doesn't always work, but since it saves the "tags" for later if you need them, not a major issue. still, a lot impulse buys to be had there. i am still blown away by this app. and yes, it is even free.
