Great options and type of music available. If you don't want to pay, you suffer through intermittent ads. No worse than any commercial on tv. If you pay, then it's ad free with other options. Overall, you can create your own stations or search theirs and hear awesome music at all times!

I've tried different music apps and Pandora is my favorite :) I love that you can make your own station and it puts just the right songs in it for you! So much easier than other things out there! If I could change one thing it would be the frequency of adds, but whereas I'm listening for free, it's understandable that there are adds, they need to get paid somehow! :) Anyways, I love Pandora!!
Love it
by C_Nel_6 on 2017/07/27 20:55

Premium? Premium? How 'bout premium?
by Awp2513 on 2017/07/27 20:44
Do you want to upgrade to premium? How about now? Now? How about now? Don't forget about premium! Premium? How about upgrading? Want to upgrade? Now? Is now a good time? What about now? Premium? I was even asked to confirm my purchase of premium after I had closed the application (but the ad was still playing on top of being asked, yet again, to try premium).
Better than any of the others...
by Tixpedition on 2017/07/27 20:41
Pandora is the best - simple, intuitive, and personalized. I love the new user interface. The music recommendations are based on song level characteristics rather than just sending you the same artists or genres over and over. I have tried Spotify, Apple, Amazon, and Google and find them all to be worse in one way or another.

by ClarityForLife on 2017/07/27 19:56
I still love Pandora most out of all the options for playing music. I've created and fine tuned some amazing stations over the years. These stations are always what I want essence wise and are always refreshing with new artist/song options. I like not knowing what's next but knowing 90% of the time it's what I want to listen to.
Great App! I use daily!

Forcing Plus subscribers to pay for premium
by Tlk12345678910 on 2017/07/27 19:43
I have loved Pandora for several years and pay for the Plus version because I use it my classroom. Unfortunately, since the launch of Premium I now regularly have problems with buffering when I open a station. $12.99? What really is the benefit of Premium versus Plus- perhaps a consistency of use? Very disappointed.

Favorite song app
by Don't even rate on 2014/06/28 21:00
I personally think most the people who give this app bad reviews have ZERO patience and there reasons to why it's bad are stupid. They don't think about the millions of people who use this and how many people use it at one time. Nothing is perfect. So of course there will always be things that can "make it better" but for the adds they are annoying but at the same time I don't really care because I don't sit there and stare at the screen and enjoying the picture that is there! I have a life!! If I'm listening to pandora I'm 100% of the time doing something else on my phone. Or I'm laying down. Like right now I'm doing both! The only time my music or anyone else that I knows music stops it's because it asks if you are still listening. Which is a good reason to stop the music. I always get notifications saying there are more songs on a station. I have never had it tell me there are none. I think this is an app that I would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone and I would give it 5 stars and 2 thumbs up! It's a great app and I have had minimum complaints. None that affect me or bother me enough to want to change anything. There are ads but I never have the app open when listening. Which is amazing that I can do other things and myosin still play. Yes I would like to be able to go back a certain amount of songs. But I don't skip a song by accident enough for it to bother me. Plus the so g usually comes back on again soon which I really like!!
FIX THE BLANK ALBUM COVER!!!
by Maggie 63!:93!384& on 2016/06/20 01:12
I love Pandora. Hands down. I love being able to listen to music that I don't actually own and it really helps me find out other music that I love. I never would've known that I absolutely love piano music if it wasn't for Pandora. But I do have a few complaints. Mainly the changed the blank album cover to the weird blue and white record/CD thing which I don't like. It used to be this like gray scale thing which I really liked and it didn't show up on my lock screen and now that stupid record does. Boo Pandora. Boo you. Also every once in a while I like a new song. Because really I only listen to one stations and I have literally perfected it. But every once in a while I do thumb up a new song and then instantly I get a slew of songs from that genre. I don't like that at all. I DO NOT need to listen to eight rap songs in a row. Just because I like one rap song does not mean I want to listen to every rap song in existence. The same happens with country music and I want it to stop. Through in a rap song here and there. But what I would really like is if the app would recognize the songs that I never skip and play them more often. There are definitely songs that I thumbed up because they were hip and I liked them for a spell but now I might want to listen to them now and again. I want Pandora to play the songs I love more than the songs I'm cool with. But other than that I put my seal of approval on this app.
Fantastic - Needs a But More World Music But Getting Better
by darkraistlyn on 2017/02/19 17:14
Title pretty much says it all. Especially music from Korea. It is becoming much better, but still leaves much to be desired. More Japanese pop as well would be fantastic - especially that found on anime, as I'm sure many folks will be drawn into that genre of music initially from that medium. One of my largest complaints is the discrepancy of the search between what Pandora actually seems to have. I have looked for a particular song a few times to have it continually return nothing only to have it pop up on a station later on. Searching for the same song later on still said it didn't exist. I had to wait months for one particular song - Lindsey Stirling's Phantom of the Opera medley - to come around on a station so I could make a station out of it. It may have been updated by now, I haven't checked since. To be fair, over all, these are minor complaints. I more say these things to alert the developers than to dissuade anyone from using the app. It is an excellent resource for music. I do hear the complaint you can't choose exactly what you want to hear at that time. You can hear pretty close to the thing you want, and frequently my favorite songs are played. But you never get to choose on a radio, either. I am a premium subscriber for $5 a month, so whenever those songs come on I can just replay them to my heart's content. However, you cannot skip endlessly, but you can skip further than normal. Keep it up, guys!
Feeling a little angry here....
by DianaC112001 on 2016/03/03 13:05
For people with older devices might be having a more inconvenient experience (especially if subscribed from the device with the Pandora One loading screen) My mom and brother normally have the Pandora loading screen without ads due to subscription from another device. They both have iPad 2s and don't seem to have an issue at all. On the other hand, Pandora One was subscribed from my iPad 2 and has some issues that anger me. One, sometimes Pandora will hang so badly that I would have to force quit it to get it to work. If I tap my finger back into the app when I try to force quit it, the app will not respond no matter what you do to try to get out of it that I have to turn off my iPad and get it back in the plug to get it to respond. Two, when Pandora gets stuck and you can force quit it, it cuts you off your music stating that there are no tracks available on that particular station. No matter what station you go to after that point, same statement. Three, when you are on a station with your favorite song on and tune in to another station and tune back to the station with your favorite song, it will skip on to the next track you don't really like. I've had to delete and reinstall Pandora once since iOS 9 came out. I hope that you could either fix these issues or make a compatibility list of devices that could run Pandora well without issues interrupting listeners' experience (with the Pandora One subscription).
My REAL Review
by MateFeedKillRepeat on 2008/09/02 21:53
I wrote a comment before but now I want to give this App the review it deserves: Pros: 1. For iPhone users: This app works anywhere you have cell signal 2. For iPod Touch users: Works anywhere you have internet 3. Can have as many stations as you want 4. Can group them in alphabetical order to make stations easy to find 5. No more listening to the artists you don't like over and over. YOU pick what you listen to! 6. It work seamlessly with your account on the Pandora website. If you add a new station on here it shows up there too. 7. It takes up barely any space on your iPod/iPhone 8. You get it all for FREE!!!! Cons: 1. Can't do anything else why radio is playing except put it to sleep 2. You can't recieve incomming calls on the iPhone while it's playing or call other people 3. Only six skips per hour Overall: This App is the supreme. The best in the whole App Store. If you could only download one App onto your iPod/iPhone I would pick this one. It's great to be able to pick certain artists to listen to instead of listening to whatevers on. At last I can control my own radio! The only thing that really bugs my at all about this App is that you can only skip six times per hours. It would be nice it they made a paid version with unlimited skips. But that's not really a big problem. I really suggest you get this App right now because until you do there will be a gapping Pandora sized hole in your heart.
Takes place of iTunes, amazing app
by Felicia B ;) on 2015/08/26 13:48
I personally love this app. For me, I use it instead of iTunes and Apple Music. I love discovering new music, especially based on a song I love, which is basically what Pandora does. There are so many different situations that Pandora comes in handy in my house, and I'm so happy I got this app. It's just like the radio, but it's your radio. There's very little ads, and you can have multiple stations. I chose Pandora over iHeartRadio because you create the stations. I personally don't like the radio stations today because the music played on those stations are controlled by other people NOT with your music taste. That's what iHeartRadio plays most of the time. Pandora is unique, if you thumbs up a song it plays more like it. If you thumbs down a song, it won't play it again. Plus, Pandora works better on my phone than iHeartRadio does. On iHeartRadio, if you thumbs down a song it just keeps playing, and on iTunes you can only skip songs, and the song will soon play again. If your looking for today's radio, I would look towards iHeartRadio. If you don't want to download an app, and don't mind what music you listen to within a station, then I would stick with iTunes. But if your like me, and you like a variety of songs that plays a radio based on a song or songs you love only, I would go towards Pandora. This app is unique, and a big part in my music life.
Music vs advertising
by Who?Leo! on 2017/03/05 17:22
I love the app and concept. It is music entertainments current and future. That being said the future should be a lot better. You have classic problems of the past, for example. You are listening to calming classical music and a blaring ad jolts you out of your zen state. Or you have Disney music playing for the children and an erectile disfunction ad will come up. You may be right I'm not paying for this. But there is no incentive for me to pay when I see some poor judgment and decision making problems in plain sight. Like. Why if the forum of entertainment and medium for interaction is sound am I having to constantly swipe and scroll ads away on a screen. Make up your mind visual ads or audible interruptions but both does not make me believe spending money to invest in this double edged sword would make me any happier than just dealing with it currently. Realize we don't buy things for the ads we invest in products we could dream of being without. Although I couldn't imagine being without Pandora I can imagine being without the frustration of investing in a product that still would not be only music entertainment. I applaud your move to have hour long and several hour long uninterrupted listening for a moment of my time. I would gladly continue to participate on this level. But overall what you provide is quite remarkable and I believe will be, with continued molding be the future of how we listen, learn and love music.

Simply the iPhone's killer app
by SanJoseScott on 2008/07/29 03:38
I've been a fan of Pandora on personal computers for a few years now. Now it's available for your pocket! You create one or more "stations" based on an artist or song you like, and Pandora's amazing service creates a constant, commercial-free stream of similar music. You can thumb's-up or thumb's-down each song, or skip the ones you decide you don't like, and Pandora constantly fine-tunes your station for you. You can have multiple stations, too, and switch between them instantly. If (like me) you have a taste for uncommon music, no problem, Pandora's library is astonishingly extensive and includes lots of long-ago classics in many, many genres. And did I mention no commercials? And now it's pocketable. In a drive from San Jose to San Francisco, starting with WiFi at my home and continuing with automatic switching between 3G in the populated cities and Edge in the undeveloped portions of I-280, Pandora didn't skip a beat even once. What an amazing testament to the iPhone's groundbreaking capabilities! Beyond the stunning music capabilities is its integration with iTunes. Hear a song you like and want to keep in your own libary? A tap here and a tap there, and it's added to your iTunes basket. Slick! This, folks, is simply the killer app for the iPhone. Recommended. In fact, it's a must-have. You might even say it's one more reason to have an iPhone!
Better than ever with one major flaw
by Ttrestle on 2015/10/04 12:57
I generally love all the changes they've made over the last few updates and since the big change a while back. However, with one exception, and that is many times you cannot see the name of the song that is playing without having to click on a few links. For example, I am listening to the doors, LA woman, alternate version, right now and all I see is that I'm listening to the doors, LA woman. It has cut off the words alternate ending. This is the case with numerous songs because if the song title is too long then you cannot see the true name of it. Or if a remixed version is plain then you do not know. I absolutely hate having to click on the song and then click show more under lyrics to be able to see the full name of the song. For the love of God, just make the song scrolling if there is not enough room. There is no reason why I should have to click numerous times just to see what I am listening to. Who thought this was a good idea when building a new App?! Anyway, fix that please and we are good and I can give you a four or five star rating. I should also say that I actually love the new option to get one hour free listening no commercials provided I watch a marketing video or scroll through and advertising campaign. I also like that it shows how much time I have left and my free hour. I will never take advantage of the paid for option but love that you have an unpaid option to listen to music free of ads for an hour.
Apple Watch and Premium need love
by squintr on 2017/04/10 13:36
When you swipe back to the previous song to rate it, the thumbs down and up buttons are usually missing. You have to scroll back to the song before that and you can see them show up, then you swipe back to the next song and you can then rate the song. The buttons should immediately appear always. Also, the app seems to show the same cover art every time I switch songs sometimes. It gets stuck on one song and even though a different song plays, it shows the same cover art for a second or so, then it switches to the right art. The "next" art should pre-load so that it's ready to switch when I change songs. The Apple Watch app is pretty unresponsive. Using 1st gen watch. I have to tap the thumbs down or up button like 3 times to get it to take, and sometimes it "unlikes" the song if it gets two taps. Also, the song doesn't update until after a couple seconds of waking the screen. Background updating would be nice but that may be a watchOS limitation. Also, if you are using Premium, there is no way to use the "I'm tired of this track" in the iPhone app, Apple Watch app, or even Apple TV app (though with Apple TV that isn't possible with Plus either). It does work on the website and in the third-party app Hermes. Please add this feature to all apps/devices for Premium users, Pandora!
Terrific, but flawed, app
by glennjw77 on 2008/09/06 21:42
If you love Pandora on the internet, you've got to try this app on your iPhone or iPod touch. Like on the website, you can create online stations based on your favorite artists. Just enter the name of the artist, and it will create a station that plays music by that artist and similar artists. It's a great way to discover new artists based on artists you already like. The iPhone app has an interface very similar to the iPhone's iPod, plus you can bookmark songs and artists to access from the website later, and you can rate songs "thumbs up" or "thumbs down". So what's wrong with this app? Well, for one thing, it has a tendency to sometimes skip to the next song before the current song is finished playing. I don't know if this problem is limited to the iPhone app or if it's a problem at the Pandora website too, but it's pretty annoying when you're listening to a song you like, especially if it's one you haven't heard before. What's worse, there's no "back" button to go back to the last song. There is a fast forward button to skip to the next one, as well as a pause button, but there's no way to go back. If they would just add a "back" button it would make the first problem a little more bearable. But to get a five-star rating from me, they have to fix the skipping problem and add a back button. Other than that, it's a great app, and it's free. Check it out!
It Really Is This Good...

I am currently driving from Southern California to Northern Washington. I got an auto mount for the iPhone and loaded it up with tons of music, Old Time Radio, and the following: AOL Radio, Wunder Radio and, of course, Pandora Radio. AOL became fairly useless about a block from my point of origin. Wunder Radio works well, but there's a lot of adjusting to tweak it just right for your current reception (bandwidth choices for each station) making it a bit too "hands on" for the drive - Pandora Radio blew me away! It worked right from the start. I had set it for high bandwidth before I even started to listen, remembering my experience with poor sound on AOL Radio - but it started to stutter in edge areas (that's not criticism, just a fact of bandwidth). So I opted to switch back to low bandwidth, and could not believe how good the audio quality was! I've left it there all the way through Northern California and southern Oregon - northbound on interstate 5 all the way - with no troubles whatsoever (except for two brief areas where there was no cell reception). Choosing one of the genre stations is no different than the choices of AOL, and, frankly, choosing an artist helped keep me alert when the drive got long with the occasional thumbs up and thumbs down - just enough interactivity to break up the long gray highway. Road Tested and Highly Recommended!
Pandora=story of my life!
by Mama Vixster on 2014/07/17 01:21
Ever since I was introduced to pandora, I have loved it! I had to upgrade to Pandora One because I'm playing music nearly 24/7. But it's affordable & worth it; No commercials or time limits. It's wonderful for every occasion. From the time I was in high school teeny boppin to now having a 3 month old baby I have had a station for every mood or event. I enjoy a wide variety of music & haven't been disappointed from lack of songs. I put the baby to sleep with spa music & we listen to many different things throughout the day. Through pandora, I don't have go out & buy music it is just one click away staying updated with all the new tunes. I appreciate that I can share the gift of music with my newborn, husband, friends & family. It's great that you can like/dislike a song so they can continue or discontinue playing it. I also enjoy that I am introduced to new music that Iv grown to love and that I wouldn't have learned about otherwise. It can take a while to "shape" a station to be your perfect fit weeding through the songs you like & don't like But Pandora makes this simple with the thumbs up/down buttons :) I do miss the "move this track to another station" button on the iPhone app. But other than that I am a very pleased customer thankful for how Pandora has enhanced my life. Thank you guys!
Overall a good app
by MJsChick on 2014/12/21 12:57
I don't mind paying for the app because I got annoyed at the amount of ads played on the free version. I do wish Pandora wasn't such a stick in the mud about playing the same account on multiple devices. I have 2 iPhones, my old one and the upgraded one and a netbook which all have Pandora loaded onto them. The old iPhone has no cellular service and is used primarily as a toy for my 2 year old and I download stuff using Wi-Fi. I use Pandora to play lullabies at night for her. Now my 7 year old son wants music to sleep to. Since you can't stream music from a device and connect to Bluetooth at the same time, I stream the station from my old iPhone for my daughter and connect my new phone to a Bluetooth speaker so he can listen to lullabies via my new iPhones. I once decided to then connect my netbook and listen to something I wanted to hear. All of a sudden, all the music stopped and I got an e-mail yelling at me about having one account on multiple devices! Boo on that stipulation. The other issue I have is with music variety. I find the same artist popping up on multiple stations, no matter the station, just because I've thumbed up some of their songs. I can sorta understand if the artists are kinda similar. Like MJ popping up on both my James Brown and Prince stations. But when MJ pops up on my Broadway station, someone got lazy with the algorithms.
One of the Best Music Apps out There!
by Ewonguyen on 2011/07/20 00:57
Pandora is a great app. I use it all the time. It's just the thing I need for discovering new kinds of music I like. With Pandora, you pick any artist, song, or genre you want, and it will make a "station" for you that will play that kind of music and other music like it. Like, I have a station called The Beatles Radio, and that "station" plays songs by The Beatles as well as similar artists, like the Rolling Stones, Queen, David Bowie, The Doors, Herman's Hermits, and Electric Light Orchestra. You can even bookmark songs to purchase on the iTunes Store. It's a fantastic app, but there are some things that could be changed. For one thing, you have to be at least thirteen to use Pandora. I don't believe that's fair to people under thirteen. There are also minor things, like some album artwork being of poor quality and some occasional song title typos (once, they misspelled the word wheels in "Watching the Wheels" by John Lennon). Other than that, I think this is a great app that everyone should get and is essential for music lovers like me. How does it stack up to Slacker? Well, personally, I think Slacker has a better looking interface, but it took longer to figure out, and it has WAY more commercials than Pandora. I think Slacker's great, but for some reason, Pandora keeps me coming back for more. I'd pick it over Slacker.
So many usability issues.

I love how Pandora is virtually everywhere and yes those apps have their own problems, so I'm forced to keep using it, but their official app does not do any of the new things they've been adding well at all. The Apple Watch app almost never works. Regardless of if the app is opened recently, fresh restart of iPhone and watch, even restarting both devices, opening the app on the watch results in a pretty much infinite spinning indicator. The sorting of the stations doesn't seem to be in any particular order on the watch. Onto the iPad app: split screen is really bad, pretty much all of the main user interface overlaps itself or runs off the screen. Connection issues at launch of the app cause the app to essentially stop working and just give you an error, forcing you to kill the app and relational it. This is usually when I'm driving away or toward from my solid Wi-Fi system (4-node Velop w/Ethernet backhaul) and transitioning to my also amplified rock solid LTE connection that I depend on for extensive driving, and I say, "Hey Siri open Pandora." Unfortunately I can't say, "Hey Siri close Pandora," to get it to work hands free. This is especially problematic because of the fact the app almost always seems to have to perform a full launch just because I played audio in another app, causing 5-10 second delays or more depending on how many times I have to kill it with obvious packet loss expected on LTE.
Love the Music & Comedy
by Sleepless in,,,?? on 2015/12/28 08:40
I'd love to give it 5⭐️'s but I have some issues. First I want to tell you thank you for letting me have the choice of listening free or purchasing. I know if I purchase there's either no commercials or less than the free. I love the fact that I can pick different stations by the Artist I enjoy and now I can add the Artists to the one I choose, that's AWESOME!! The other thing I enjoy a bunch, is the Comedy stations. And same thing, I can add the comedians of my choice to the station I pick, love this new addition. My issue is that I do listen quite a bit and I'm not sure if this is fixable or not, but when I listen to the Comedy stations, they're the same material, it would be nice if you could add more material every few months. Soon I will be bored with listening to Jeff Durham, Steve Martin, Christopher Titus, Brian Regan, etc... It would be great if they could add more material and I know some may be impossible after awhile because some Comedians are no longer with us, RIP Robin Williams, ( I will never get sick of him). It is nice to have a station cheer up your day and it has so many times! Thanks Pandora for giving me so many options and letting me listen for free, even though I have to endure a few commercials here and there, and usually it's just one and it's back to the station. Keep up the good work, you've made my world a better place!! 🎤 🎶💃🏼🎶🎼
New Pandora = AWESOME; Selfish Fat Society Gonna Hate
by GuitarBoyOriginal on 2013/03/17 15:29
I can't believe all the selfish negative reviews from people who apparently were raised to say "me me me" and "give me more things I don't have to pay for." Are most of you haters overweight? Do you ever exercise between mouthfuls of burgers and pie? What, did you all vote for Obama? He wants free stuff too and doesn't want to balance the national budget or reduce the debt. To those of us who bothered to read the news when it first came out, Pandora was created at enormous expense and research by way of their pre-launch music genome project. Plus, before going live, Pandora had to sign contracts with music artists to PAY THEM FOR THE STREAMING OF THEIR MUSIC FROM DAY ONE. This was years ago. Pandora is still free and now there is a cap per month. Anyone who doesn't like it can pay $3.99 per month. About the cost of one burger you downed in about 2 minutes flat while you could have been exercising. Haters need to get a life. Thank you Pandora for the FREE service. Ignore the haters, they won't pay anybody, they have a large appetite for drama and just like to whine, and again, most of them are overweight and have no idea what to do about it, so their are subconsciously taking it out on you, Pandora. I heart Pandora and will probably upgrade to the $3.99 per month for ad-free listening.
This is getting aggravating...

Ok so, I love, and I mean, LOVE Pandora!! Best app I've ever had, especially because I love music. Music is my best friend, but lately Pandora has been getting on my nerves. For the past couple days, at 12:30 to like 1:25 IT DOES NOT WORK. It would just all of a sudden not connect and it would just stop working. It would claim the network isn't working... And trust me, I am not an idiot with electronics. I did a lot of tests to see what was wrong. Now keep in mind, this problem is on my iPad. So, first, I killed it and tried to open it up again; it didn't work. Next I tried to use the internet on another app to see if it was the internet, it wasn't because all the other apps worked comepetely fine. Next, I tried using the Pandora on my phone, and it worked! At this point, I was getting pretty frustrated... Next I tried killing it and restarting again, but it still didn't work. Then I tried restarting my iPad and it STILL DIDN'T WORK. I came to the final conclusion of uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Since it wasn't connecting, I couldn't log in until later that day. But I do love Pandora, it's introduced me to a lot of new music genres and songs!! I use it all the time... its crazy. but since it doesn't work like that, its veeeerrrryyyy annoying... -_- please fix then i'lll give u guys a 5 star :D thanks, hope this helps. bye
My preferred streaming music app
by Lilyheart9 on 2015/07/25 14:04
I absolutely Love Pandora. I've been using it for years, and have my stations dialed in pretty well according to musical genre. The only station that seems a bit "off" in its algorithmic formula is my Queen station. It's the most recent addition to my list, and I'm surprised that it offers very few of Queen's songs in the playlist. I also give a "thumbs down" every time "Hey Jude" plays on every one of my stations. I love The Beatles, but I cannot stand this one song, yet it keeps showing up for some reason (hoping it will change my mind? Not! Lastly, I use the free version, because I don't normally mind hearing an occasional ad, but I absolutely hate getting bombarded by singles ads. If I have to be subjected to ads, can you at least allow me to give a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" to the content? These are just three small gripes. Overall, I love Pandora and will remain a faithful listener. I buy songs off of the link provided while the song is playing all the time, and have amassed a nice offline playlist too. I will likely move to the paid version once I trade in my car - I have a paid subscription to a competitor that I can take or leave. I just can't justify paying for two music subscriptions at this time. Thanks for being so awesome, Pandora!
Absolutely Spectacular App!
by Ryan Barnhill on 2015/10/21 22:12
Hands down the most spectacular and well created app of all time when it comes to the category of music! As there are many ads, the fantastic music played every track makes up for every bit of it! Many people complain about the ads but I have to say thank you for them! Because the ads is the reason why this app stays free you guys! Without the ads implemented in the app, just imagine having to pay for the app regardless if we want premium or not!! Thank you so much to the creators of this app. It is hands-down my all time favorite music app! It reunites me to music I have not heard in a very long time, and when I hear it, I realize it's been one of my favorite songs in my past that I would have loved to hear again, and would have NEVER though of the song name, regardless of the band, to ever hear the song again. Also introducing me to new bands similar to my favorite bands? This app cannot get any better! Thank you so much for the work and updates brought to this app!! And I'm so excited to use this app for the rest of my mobile life to listen to what I actually WANT to listen to! 5 STARS ALL HANDS DOWN NO EXCEPTIONS!! Could not get any more perfect than this app right here! Recommended to everyone who has a great since and taste in music!
Last update screwed everything up
by JoJo Mahamma on 2017/02/23 09:23
Update Same day 45 minutes later after resetting my phone seven times turning it on and off and resetting the app trying all sorts of things I eventually stopped 15 minutes go by I go back to the app it works thanks a bunch 🤙🏻 it must've been an internal server error thanks for fixing it. It will only play one song then freezes and I cannot pause the music even if I take my headphones out the music keeps playing through the speakers and vice-versa then and could not replay songs that say I can being a Pandora plus subscriber hope you guys fix this soon I don't want to have to cancel my subscription! Fix it now please!!!! I'm not happy with your current service have to exit the app then re-enter the app just to get to the next song🤦🏻‍♂️uaaaahhhhhhh just fix it! I have an iPhone 7 not plus i've got the newest version of iOS (10.2.1) so there should not be any problems other people seem to not have these problems I have T-Mobile so that could be the problem I'm using my Wi-Fi though so this should not be a problem at all just trying to give you as much information as possible so you may be able to figure out what the problem is I can't because I don't seem to understand what's going on.
Good... But
by ScottishGlassLady on 2015/12/18 15:55
The good: huge range of music and I like that it does function like a radio station- I never know what I'm going to hear, but it is within my genre. $5/month to go ad-free is eminently affordable. The bad: the ads have gotten outta control. Seriously. They play at a louder volume than my music, making them a sensory jolt sometimes. They are way more frequent and they are (amusingly) for things I would never ever do or buy. It's almost funny because the music is tailored to you that the ads are just crap thrown at a wall to see what sticks IMO. Also, hearing the same song 3x in a day if I have a narrowly focused radio station. "Women in comedy" was great until I listened for over 40 hours... And then repeat after repeat. Also, if I've thumbed down something, it would be nice if Pandora didn't immediately follow it up with 2-4 other tunes that a) are the same exact sound distillation (like multiple banjo pieces in a row on a station that includes about 30 artists by now, only 4 of whom are strictly bluegrass) or a few pieces in a row by the same band... Whose sound I just told you I wasn't keen on. So yeah, it's a good app for the money, but I think it could be a lot better. Especially if they (at Pandora) are still touting it as the "music genome project" wherein "if you like this, we think you'll like that too based on people's data." I can't stand to use it for free anymore though. Ads.
Pandora going down hill for me....
by April_Coleman on 2013/03/20 02:28
I loved Pandora when I first downloaded the app and I still do now but it freezes up a lot. And most of the time when you search a specific artist, for ex. Ed Sheeran it will play maybe 1 or 2 songs by him and the rest of the songs are random artist. Its called Ed Sheeran radio for a reason, just saying. Im not sure if there is anyway you guys can fix that problem but if you can, please do so. Also, im really not liking that you guys giving only 40 hours of music. You just started this and this month I only have 5 hours left for March but I didnt know about the 40 hour thing till yesterday. And I liked Pandora better than any other radio app because you didnt have to pay for it and because it played good music but now you guys are doing this hour thing and then on top of that your charging if you want to continue listening after the hours are up. I understand that you need to make money from Pandora but could you atleast give more hours. I don't know if you've noticed or not but music is very important and has been for a long time so I think there shouldnt be a limit on music. And my final issue is the amount of commercials there are, its really annoying when you have to stop your music to watch dumb commercials. We see them all on TV. Could you please lessen the amount of commercials, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Works well, but no social network integration and some other dumb oversights
by bilditup1 on 2012/11/08 18:47
I have suffered none of the issues others have mentioned here. Thumbs up and thumbs down work just fine. Skipping songs limitation is inherent to Pandora radio overall, and is the fault of the labels, not Pandora itself. The app is mostly well designed, but there are a dew dumb oversights. One is the lack of integration with Facebook or Twitter for sharing songs with friends. More importantly, the track names often appear very long and truncated, or replaced by a variant of the album artist name and album name. You can bookmark a song but not view the bookmark to find out what the full track name is; I don't really care about viewing bookmarks so much in and of itself, but something should be done about the track name situation. Lastly, searching for song on iTunes from within the app appears to supply iTunes with the album name, not the track name. That's just a silly oversight, given the level of polish the rest of the app exudes. I don't really use iTunes either, but it seems like a feature that they should be able to get right in an iOS music app, given how many people do use iTunes. Also, and this is more of a suggestion, I think the higher quality audio option should be enabled by default on non-phone devices, where data usage and most likely connection quality aren't really issues.
Pandora remains the best app of its kind
by Lymang on 2015/10/29 11:36
So it's been a long time (years?)since I wrote my initial review and it seems only fair to give it another go. My only initial complaint was the presence of ads but that's not really a valid criticism in this day and age and with the evolution of Pandora as a service. The honest truth of it in my opinion is that no one does this as well as Pandora, and their iPhone/iPad app is about as ideal as you can ask for. I switched to the VERY reasonably priced premium version of the Pandora service and I have no complaints. I think my sub fees are going to licensing fees - or I hope so. I know that Pandora has a huge selection and broad swath of artists and genres, I rarely have a problem finding someone I want to hear on Pandora. Any issues I have with Pandora now have nothing to do with the app, and are related to their algorithm for selecting appropriate music based on my seed selection or search criteria. E.g. I have a channel for female rappers. Despite thumbing ONLY songs with female lead vocalist/rappers (probably 50, maybe as many as 100) the algorithm still often gives me songs with no female vocalists (that I thumbs down of course). And there you have it. Great app. Great service(with some pickiness issues on my side)!
I love Pandora, but this is just garbage
by Kyle918 on 2008/07/18 18:55
Pandora is a great application with a LOT of potential. Its main and actually its only drawback that I can see is that if you hit the home button...the application closes!! Why is that? Every application is like this. We iPhone users multitask. The iPhone is such a great phone, but yet, its so one dimensional. It can only run one program at a time. What a waste. The only thing you can close and still have running is the iPod on iPhone. I just don't understand why you would have the application quit on pushing the home button. I mean, God forbid you get a text message and you have to close your music and start over again once you re-enter. It's a busy world out there and it's highly annoying to render my iPhone useless while listening to my favorite music on Pandora. The only problem is that I think that this is Apple's fault. I don't think that they allow any of the apps to run in the background. Supposedly this is because Apple fears the battery life will be shortend. Well Apple, obviously I don't care about battery life if I am willing to have my iPhone in use for about 6 hours a day. It's not complicated to charge it! If I was so worried about battery life I would end calls after a minute not use internet or have my wireless set to on everyday all day and never use the speaker to play music aloud. Get over battery life and allow background processes. "KB"
Love It!

Normally, a BIG Pandora fan. I just upgraded to Pandora Premium and it has many great features. I love the Thumbs Up Playlist that stores every song you thumbs up, but not a great feature if you can't thumbs up songs played while it's shuffling stations. You have to go back through the songs and thumbs up after they've played or play a particular station you created to use the thumbs up feature. Thumbs down, Pandora. I hope that's due to a bug fix you are currently working on or I'm going back to Pandora Plus. I have been a Pandora customer for many years and I honestly do not have a single complaint. I can't say enough good things about Pandora. I had a free account for about a year, but Pandora Plus had me at 'replay option' and offline streaming. I can skip as many songs as I want, but I don't need to because I absolutely adore her shuffle selections. I have never encountered it inadvertently shutting down. It froze a couple of times, but with a quick shut down it played just fine. I have a very long commute to and from work so I log alot of music minutes and Pandora never disappoints. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Keep up the good work! I freaking love you!
All The HaTeRz Are poor Non-SubscriberZ
by RåTçHēT on 2013/06/07 00:09
All the haters of Pandora can't pay for a subscription. Ooops did I say that?! Been a paid subscriber 3 years in a row. Took me only a couple days to realize the value in a subscription to satisfy my eclectic taste in music. I have over 40 genre related stations customized by rigid monitoring of what plays, utilizing the thumbs up and down, as well as customizing the "station seeds". The effect of the stringent quality control allows me to enjoy countless listening hours of a vast array of music. Pandora has introduced me to countless undiscovered tracks (for me), and that says volumes because I come from a family of DJ's as well as having friends in the with years digging for music in the DJ industry. I also appreciate the concept and effort put into "The Music Genome Project". It has allowed Pandora to become MY PERFECT DIGITAL DJ !!! Love the background info on most artists. Very well written original material. If you notice the ratings, there is pretty much a simple divide. People either love it or hate it. View the haters, they're mostly non-subscribers. At $36 a year, that's less than a tank of gas, an eighth of weed. Only $3 a month. If you have a smart phone, tell me why u can't afford that? To me PANDORA IS UNDENIABLY WORTH IT, period.
Each Update Brings Something New

Each update brings something new, and this one is no different. I love what you've done with today's update, but I still have one request that only your website can show: which song is playing off of which station. For example, I have 5 total stations based off of genre, and I'm very particular to know which song is playing off of which station as some songs that are best suited for one genre station plays on another as well. Every time I thumb up a song, I have to go back to my station list, look through the station that I intended to thumb it up in and, if it's not, I have to look in the station(s) that I think that it was thumbed up in and either delete it or thumb it down (assuming it's still in my recently played music history that shows until you force quit the app). If you guys can add this, then you're gold (as they say)! It would make things so much easier for people like me who are nitpicky about what we thumb up and where. Oh, and as a side note, it would be great if you made your desktop app more like the mobile one for iOS and put it in the Mac App Store. That would be great! Keep up the good work and I look forward to what you have to offer in the future!
Best music one bug
by Bright1Owen on 2014/08/19 03:47
Do I need to explain how amazing this app is?!?! I love pandora I'd rate it 5 stars but I know those ratings don't get as much attention. I have a big report and a suggestion. First the suggestion; add a bug report on your help menu you'll get a lot more help thy way and improve software an more. Now for the bug, I've noticed that whenever I listen to music especially over cellular data instead of displaying the length of the song remaining it displays a large number like 39hrs and 20 minutes and some seconds, I assume this is how much music I've listened to but to be honest I'd rather see how much longer I have on my song, if you could fix this bug I'd be grateful. Additionally some further suggestions would be a skip counter, and (I know this won't happen but) give the ability to temporarily download a preselected amount of time of music like an hour and a half that can download ahead of time so I don't have to use data when I'm at the gym or running. I know that's far fetched incase someone tries to steal the music but me and u know that'd happen anyways, so if u do decide to consider it make the amount of time variable but maybe cap at some large amount like 6hrs and make it so the music auto deletes after a song has been heard. Just think about it it'd save money data time, etc. it could be another form of persuasion for pandora one which is too expensive now for what limited services it provides!!! Thanks love a pandora one customer
Targeted ads are aimed a little too low
by garciawisconsin on 2017/04/01 20:56
OK. I accept commercials. Even the increased frequency of them. But must I get the same ads endlessly. Age targeted ads are funny only the first 50 times. Some Variety please. The ads for pillows are non stop. Then there is the sultry voice repeatedly and nearly explicitly telling me my performance in bed needs a lift up and a pill to get things pointed in the right direction. Trust me. Things are fine. Your marketing programmers have a self limiting ignorance about becoming older that is worrisome about their view of their own future. We are creative, curious, active, love the outdoors, and even scuba and run triathlons. Shift your world view, you have much to look forward too. I finally changed my profile to a younger age. It helped but apparently everyone has the same sleep problem and have other reasons they can't connect up. Maybe it's the stress from their repeat difficulties with the IRS and the peeling paint of their constantly leaking house. Get classy. Get clever. Get diverse. You can sell more. And yes I am about to shift to paid Pandora. I guess the ads worked. First I am lowering my age again and maybe change my gender. Gotta check out your view of the rest of humankind.
Good music, horrible ads and UI
by Motown08 on 2015/09/03 00:57
I absolutely love using Pandora and find that their playlists are quite diverse, but almost always consist of exactly what I'm looking to listen to. For that, Pandora gets 4.5 stars. The reason for the 2 star rating is in part due to their increase in ads, and not just those that come up when you're listening. The formatting for ads on your screen that now take up almost the entire screen and have the smallest 'x' button is horrible. I'm constantly accidentally clicking on the ads when I try to close them and then get accosted by Pandora asking me to rate them. 😡 Further, of the ads that play during your listening sessions, some of them have evolved to be politically motivated or personally offensive ads (most currently those touching on the Iran Nuclear deal). As such, I feel like there should be a way to report offensive content or dismiss ads that aren't catered towards you. Of course there is little motivation to improve this experience since it should be a motivator for the purchase of a Pandora subscription, but it is nonetheless infuriating that Pandora has been turning into a political targeting platform when I really want to listen to music. I would be willing to change my rating if Pandora issued some updates addressing the size of the ads on the screen, their increased frequency, and ways to report offensive content.
Why do you guys complain so much
by Ethan Isaiah Chaney on 2016/09/23 03:10
Why do you guys complain so much. There is an app that lets u listen to FREE music. Y'all act like there is no catch. This app is amazing! There is a great variety, u just have to customize your station! Yes you can do that. Y'all say there's no variety but y'all probably don't even look at the full app first. I like Soundcloud too but this app is way better. You don't have to sit there and make a playlist, u can put in ur favorite songs or artists and as many different one as you want and then it plays all the music you could possibly ever want! Yes, adds are annoying but you have to remember that real people make real money off these adds and in return they let us listen to thousands of dollars worth of music, for a 30 second ads. Btw if one pops up and you don't want to wait for the add to go away, just click on a different station and then click back to the one you were listening to, don't be mad Pandora just trying to help. This is my favorite app, I delete and reinstall/download other apps all the time and yet I've had this one for a very long time. Thank you pandora for being patient even tho your customers aren't and thx for making an amazing app.
My savior has come.
by djsmartie1227 on 2011/08/15 03:45
I recently lost my favorite jazz radio station in Orlando, and I've been looking for an alternative. Pandora has exceeded my expectations. I've placed all my favorite jazz artists into one station, and it's created a station ten times better than the one I lost. As for the ads, I love them, because they are getting me free access to all kinds of great music. My father works in radio advertising, and the fact that they are able to provide us with free radio with so few ads is abosolutely incredible. For anyone complaing about the ads, go listen to a real radio station some time, because I think you've forgotten how many commercials there are. Our local radio stations do 15 minutes of commercials PER HOUR, and one of the breaks they take is 10 MINUTES LONG. If free radio means an ad from Subway comes up every 8 songs or so, I'll take it no questions asked. Heck, I might even try out that sandwich Subway was advertising! It looked delicious! I have no faults with this app, no complaints, just 100% praise. Thank you for introducing me to some great music, as well as giving me the sure to be soundtrack for my new dorm room in just two weeks. I highly recommend this app to any lover of music of any kind!
Long time listener
by Aubsnsiahsmom on 2014/09/26 14:59
I was fortunate to discover pandora long before most people. I have never been disappointed by their program or updates. I still enjoy the free version, and while yes, it does seem there are quite a few more commercials than there were years ago, if it really starts to bother me the simple solution is to buy the app. My only critiques would be to work on the initial song variety when creating stations based on a certain band or genre. An example being the Delta Rae station I created. They are compared, in almost every review I've read, to Fleetwood Mac, based on there song writing, 4 part harmony, etc, yet I've never heard Fleetwood on that station. I do utilize the "add variety" feature but feel that maybe there could be some improvement there. Also the song rotation within all "stations" has room for further development. I have created many stations and I can predict exactly which songs I will hear on each because the selection has not changed despite new music continually coming out. Aside from that, I have always considered myself to be very fortunate to have access to so much beautiful music. I am sure that I will be a user for a long time :)
Best music app bar none...from Cooper
by Sir-Cooper on 2017/04/29 23:01
I can always find music on Pandora's app to lift my spirits - it keeps improving all the time - keep up the great job...Thanks Another review and yes still the best music app out there. I can't understand others complaining about the ads after all it's free. I actually read and watch the videos that come with the ones I am interested in. Just a suggestion cut the price in half and reduce the ads by half of what the free version is now to give another option. I think you could get more to join such as younger kids that can't afford the full version. Or even older people such as I am at 68 years of age. With the lower price version just give a bit more options. I spend a lot of time setting while having my kidney dialysis done 3 days a week so money is tite for me but a reduced version I could afford. Plus I can't sleep at night from the pain I am in so I listen to your app with my ear buds on-it's amazing how much your app helps pass time. I have tried so many music apps but none come close to yours. I can't Thank You enough for making my life more tolerable. I would love to pay and could at a lessor version yes even with some ads. Again Thank You
Great app, but has some flaws
by Eggo in LA on 2008/07/13 22:04
Pandora does what it's supposed to do - builds a customized radio station that learns your preferences and offers new music that you might like. For that, it's perfect, and it's amazing that it's free. However, there are some problems with the initial version of the app. It is very easy to exit the program, and once you do, it kills it. For example, if you have to hit the home button to do something else, the app shuts off. If you get a phone call, the app shuts off. It would be better if you could set Pandora to run in the background so you could multi-task. You do get reception over the Edge network, but sometimes it will cut out for 5-10 seconds. Most of the time though, it is usable over Edge, which is great for free. Over wi-fi, I've never had it cut out on me. The final 'problem' is this app is a battery hog. Granted, you are streaming and transmitting data constantly, so this is to be expected to a certain degree. I listened to the radio for about an hour over Edge and I was shocked to see my non-3G iPhone battery was about 1/4 gone. If you're over Wi-fi or 3G, the battery drain will probably be worse. If you have a charge cable with you wherever you go (so battery life is not a problem), this app is great.
Please read pandora!

Please and thank u. What I want to keep it fresh. Make it easer for me to give a thumbs up or down so I don't have to take my phone out my pocket every time I want to like a song. Have it be a new update and have a on and off toggle switch for people who may not want to use the new feature to quick like dislike songs toggle switch. Trust I'm a dj and I love using pandora my goal is May be work for pandora one day. I'm sure that's only up to the lucky ones in the world or book smart people. But I feel blessed and I want to bless pandora with a new toggle switch witch I would think the world would love. A easy way to go back to my account and see all the like's I'v made in that run. Use the mic clicker as a quick twice to thumbs up and three times to thumbs down. Trust I want to see pandora thrive and inspire for years to come. I believe music inspires people you. It be cool to get a response back I would think I'm not that lucky out of a million likes my message would be read and may be read again. My name is ANTONIO I'm from LBC CA look me up I'm face book I'm not hiding it be cool if u found me I know your smart enough to find me and contact Me. I have a lot of ideas I'd like to share
I love the Personalized Music, BUT...
by Pelipen on 2014/11/24 01:34
...BUT there are 2 things I don't appreciate: 1) The pre-written "kudos" for my review! I can speak for myself! and 2) a $5/month fee, for PandoraOne, just to avoid annoying ads and have a few extra "skips" per day (who really cares?) is ridiculous!! It's greedy and unnecessary!! I'm going to cancel my subscription! It's a waste of money. I'll deal with the ads! MOST apps will offer a one-time upgrade to eliminate irritating ads, but not this one!! Pandora wants you to pay and pay and pay! I think Pandora is far too greedy! I would've rated this app at 5 stars, because it is, overall, a sensational "radio" app, but I am less than satisfied with how Pandora operates, with supreme control. I've emailed 4 suggestions to improve the app (such as capability to add specific artists/songs and hear them at demand). Each time I received a "Sorry, No dice." response. They really don't want to hear any feedback, so don't waste your time and effort! Other than this, if you want to take the time and energy to "train" this app to play only the music you want to hear, nothing surpasses Pandora. I truly enjoy the music they offer! It's a GREAT concept...but poorly controled. Just agree to play by THEIR rules and you may love it!
WOW
by Whoreheezy on 2009/02/03 08:47
I always read comments and reviews, but never ever wrote my own, thats until now. I've never tried Pandora before or knew what it was but decided to give it a shot, just to add a radio station to my iphone. I quickly and easily made an account with pandora and created some stations. My favorite one is my Chromeo station. It's given me alot of songs within the same style and most of the songs are just great. It really knows my taste in music and what I'm looking for. It's all I've been using the last couple of days. its not perfect but its almost here....what stops it from being the perfect application is the fact that you can't put it in the background and use other apps. It is really frustrating when I get a text or need to look up something in another app and the music just stops. I've read why Apple made the decision for this, to save battery life. thats cool I guess, but maybe they should leave that up to us if we want to use mulitple apps at the same time or not.....besides that one and only complaint, this apps is amazing and i love how its always connected. edge, 3g or wifi, you'll always be connected to Pandora. amazing......and best thing about all this......IT'S FREE!!!!!

I would like to start with the fact that I have been using pandora radio since I bought my first iPhone some time in 2008. In the long run I have seen many improvements or updates that have passed through Pandora as an app. The recent 40 hour limit listening is a real disappointment and I am hoping that the second time around testing this limit fails and it is once again taken away. Maybe this is the company's way of pushing the purchase of this application I am not sure. I would also like to see an ability to download the songs that I enjoy listening to. Maybe rewarding clients who listen regularly with a free song download for listening to them constantly instead of limiting the service provided. Lastly I'd like to touch on something specific to the iPad application. I like the ability to see the lyrics to the songs that are being played and am unable to specifically on my iPad. Please make this simple change as it would only improve customer satisfaction. In conclusion I hope that Joe Kennedy's Successor is for the improvement of Pandora and is able to grow customer satisfaction. My overall satisfaction has been steadily decreasing and the new additions/restrictions are not helping to keep the free version of the application at the top of free application software.
runs on wifi and the 3G network seamlessly

The coveted 6 star rating... I love it!!! One of the best free apps, no wait, one of the best apps on the iPhone... I thought I would have some issues with streaming but no... plays just like my ipod... The sound quality is full... It sounds like your playing a cd on a great sound system... Does it matter that I'm using this app on my new 3GS? I don't know. Some reviews stated that they had some issues with the update. Have not had any problems myself. Just great music. Put in one of your favorite artists and get songs from that artist (i.e. Beatles) along with other similar styled artists. A great way to be introduced to music that you may not have initially thought about checking out. Thumb down feature lets you goto the next song and I guess knows not to play that song again for you(I'm not sure about that as a feature, does anybody know?). Yes, it's true that you cannot run this app in the background... Just like all the other 40,000 third party apps. If you want music in the background while running other apps you can play your ipod, eventually Apple will have to let third party applications do the same. Keep up the great work Pandora Radio.
A wonderful gift to the world!

Amazing repertoire of all kinds of music! Wonderful, intuitive search engine rewards the listener with delightful new discoveries and priceless, sometimes forgotten old treasures. Notes on music and composers make it a great musical educational and discovery tool for all ages. This app is a true treasure!!! Pandora Support rocks as well! I was in process of deleting/re-installing all ITunes apps from my macbook and Iphone, but for some reason had trouble "re-purchasing" a couple apps, including Pandora. My email to Pandora Support was answered in LESS THAN 90 seconds by Esteban, who explained that since Pandora currently has "no age rating" (ie- 4+, 12+) in the ITunes store, the parental controls on my computer and/or Iphone were blocking the function of the "get app" button in the store and the subsequent re-download on the Iphone. Temporarily de-activating parental controls solved my 're-purchase' problem of all 3 apps impacted! Visual ads are clear but small and unobstrusive..... wise decision as I scan them out of gratitude for subsidizing Pandora but would ignore them if they interfered with the music experience. THANKS PANDORA and all Pandora staff!!!! You truly gift the world with beauty.
Great app!

I keep reading these reviews that give one star due to the waiting period for skipping, the FB sharing, ads, etc, and am baffled on how much complaining people can do because of these features! I've purchased the PandoraOne service, which gets rid of the ads, and I've never been happier with Internet radio. I don't use the FB sharing, but know others use it and respect it being there. I hardly notice the two second waiting period, as my life doesn't need a second-by-second regulation on what is going on...and I usually allow the song to play a few seconds as it is to hear what it is, or what version it is. That being said, if you don't like features, don't use them, it won't kill you that they are there. Though I am still giving it 5 stars, there are a couple small features that I would love to see implemented. If there is a music video associated with a song, it would be awesome to have an external link to it, or have it play with the song. Next, having a back button on songs played, even if it was one song, would be nice. I've accidentally hit the 'next' button too quickly and skipped a song I love, and kick myself for doing so. Happy jamming!
Simply the Future of Radio
by Kee Hinckley on 2008/11/26 16:02
Nothing else matches Pandora's music matching algorithms. Pick some mellow instrumental piece as a seed and you'll get the perfect soundtrack for bedtime. Throw three completely different artists at it and you'll get a playlist that alternates between those styles. Use it as a game on long car trips, seeding playlists with obscure songs or artists and seeing where it goes. On Halloween I created a playlist simply seeded with The Monster Mash and got back a station consisting almost entirely of Haloween-appropriate tunes; songs about vampires and ghosts and wolfmen, ranging from Rocky Horror to Live Potion #9. Lately I've had to drive the family several times from Massachusetts to Michigan and back; 15 hours in the car. No futzing with radio stations. No worrying about whose favorite songs are on the playlist; we just take turns with Pandora. I even completely befuddled my father by creating a station of old cowboy country tunes for him. That said, Pandora on the iPhone needs one thing, and only Apple can provide it. Lobby Apple for background playing. In the meantime, an in-app browser would be nice for those times I want to look something up on the web without turning off the music.
Good at first
by mspinelli2000 on 2014/04/07 20:26
Pandora works very well at first. Plays songs similar to what you suggest, and usually brings in some obscure stuff that you wouldn't know of otherwise. I have been using pandora for years now at this point, and the main problem I've encountered is repeating. It seems like there's a loop of songs associated with one another, and when you make a station and listen to it continually, at some point it just starts to replay the songs but in a different, slightly varied order. This is especially troublesome if you give a 'thumbs up' to a song. It seems like as soon as I do that to ONE SONG, it gets stuck on that one song and completely changes the nature of the station based off of that one song. For example, if I'm listening to a non-red hot chili peppers station, and they play a RHCP song that I like and I give it a thumbs up, the station turns into just a RHCP station and really limits the options for songs. This is not that big of a deal if you just don't thumbs up or down a song, and just let it play and skip if you don't want to hear a song. Other than that, works super well and has exposed me to some of my favorite songs/artists over the years. Still use Pandora regularly and will continue to do so.
Changed for the worse since the last time I used it
by DarkheartLives on 2015/05/11 11:24
It's been awhile since I used Pandora, but it used to be my go-to music app. Have always been a free user, and was fine with the trade; give me 3 or 4 songs in a row and I'll watch or click through an ad. Now I have to listen to two 30 second ads (no more silent readable ads, but loud, inane radio-like ads that serve to do nothing but ruin whatever music groove I had going and HATE CenturyLink and the JCC's summer pool membership marketing team) not to mention the App Store force feeding if you even look at the screen hard. This means either (or all) that Pandora's barely solvent and has to: a) squeeze more ad revenue from each free member, b) try to manhandle and convert free members into premium ones so they can borrow more cash based upon a recurring revenue model on how long they expect you to keep paying, c) their investors/shareholders aren't content with the stock's growth and are insisting on cash dividends or a buyback. None of which makes me feel exactly confident. I'm not even going to talk about the lyrics options going and the bonehead who didn't have a backup lyric provider ready to support this user need. What are you going to do? Brand loyalty is a reciprocal relationship between customer and company, not the company and investor, that is called something else, and it rhymes with '-hairy and purty' guys.

:) Anyways, I love Pandora!!

by Awp2513 on 2017/07/27 20:44

I was even asked to confirm my purchase of premium after I had closed the application (but the ad was still playing on top of being asked, yet again, to try premium).
Better than any of the others...
by Tixpedition on 2017/07/27 20:41
Pandora is the best - simple, intuitive, and personalized. I love the new user interface. The music recommendations are based on song level characteristics rather than just sending you the same artists or genres over and over. I have tried Spotify, Apple, Amazon, and Google and find them all to be worse in one way or another.

I still love Pandora most out of all the options for playing music. I've created and fine tuned some amazing stations over the years. These stations are always what I want essence wise and are always refreshing with new artist/song options. I like not knowing what's next but knowing 90% of the time it's what I want to listen to.

Try to add where u can search by the name they sorta do but it could be better fyi this puts me to sleep at night with all these songs great app they do have it where u search I just didn't find what I wanted and they have tons of songs but by no means all the songs u could ever ask for hope u like my long pointless review with me just saying facts I've found after a couple months I hate u need account for it that just kills me the even better part is if u go to sleep after 20 or 30 minutes it will turn off and u just touch button to turn back on I just wanna see how long I can type because I hate writing but if it's mobile I can do a 40 page paper cause it's just so fun to write stuff aka type stuff and I'm listening to music while typing which just makes it better I listen to pandora tell me if u think I should be an author to a really long pointless book like an auto biography I could type for ages I hope u had fun reading this yea I'm talking to u that guy that's reads reviews and decided to read a 5 pages review about random stuff I just think of so maybe I should just keep typing and never stop this whole thing is nonstop brain work I never stop to make changes or think of what next if it's full of perfect no mistakes thank you auto correct if it's full of random words get out of here auto correct I seriously want to just type forever can I do that
Simply the iPhone's killer app
by SanJoseScott on 2008/07/29 03:38
I've been a fan of Pandora on personal computers for a few years now.

Pandora=story of my life!
by Mama Vixster on 2014/07/17 01:21
Ever since I was introduced to pandora, I have loved it!

"KB"
Love It!
by saflowers on 2017/06/18 14:23
Normally, a BIG Pandora fan.
Each Update Brings Something New
by Old Deleted Account on 2013/05/22 18:43
Each update brings something new, and this one is no different.
