I LOST 4-MONTHS OF WORK - NO SUPPORT
by bogibson93 on 2020/06/03 22:55
There are known bugs involved with syncing across devices. One caused me to revert to a 4 month old state of a note with no way of getting my most recent version back. I contacted their support team and have heard nothing. Absolutely unacceptable.

The stinky pee I found in my noted was unacceptably acceptable especially when I beated my phone I hope you yes. 👏
Unreliable system
by liemptn on 2020/06/03 01:18
Since recent days, I couldn’t even login to Evernote - it keeps saying invalid email and username. And support system doesn’t even response to my ticket. What a situation ! I wonder if someone is still working at Evernote. What the heck are you guys doing? I have been a premium user for years but will consider other options.
Couldn’t open it
by ccammychong on 2020/06/01 14:24
Is it something wrong with the app because i’ve tried to open it, it just shows the logo and then jumps out to the main app — tried several times still doesn't work. Frustrating. Using iphone11 recent update. All my other apps works just fine. Please help.
Signing in to the app
by Me12232012 on 2020/05/31 17:55
I can’t even sign in to the ap to see if I like it or not. It keeps denying my email address and user name. Then when I use the one it suggests, it tells me it’s already taken. I give up. I refuse to work for hours on an app that may or may not be beneficial to me. When you fixt this let me know , I might come back
Search feature still broken after 2 months
by Elfeagle on 2020/05/31 03:38
Normally I would give a 5 star review but the app has been unusable for more than 2 months now. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app doesn’t fix it. If I search for something that is in my notes it sits the search page for 10 minutes then times out. If I search for something that isn’t in my notes it tells me that no results were found. Everything else works fine but the main thing I use the app for is searching for information so with that feature not working the app is trash and unusable. Please fix so I can give you guys a 5 star review. I’m using an iPhone Xs.
BEWARE OF HACKERS.
by Djwrath1 on 2020/05/28 12:04
I recently received a notification that my account was accessed from an iPhone in Brazil, but once logged on I saw that this occurred not once but 5 times from devices in Pakistan and the Russian Federation and Evernote did NOT alert me whatsoever. Be sure to have a strong password and delete any private information you might have! That said, I do not think Evernote is secure at all. Use at your own risk.
The Best!

‘Hands Down’ I’ve been in IT since 1978, from Commadore to out the door. This app has everything for note-takers.Evernote, being part of the MicroSoft Office product suite, I was pleasantly surprised with it being offered in an Apple environment. Granted it was developed for more of a Windows user. I down loaded the iPAD app . I have a new iPAD Air 3 with 128Gb. It worked the same as it did on my PC and Android devices. I can even see all my previous notes from all my devices on my LAN. Copy, Paste, Move works flawlessly. Also, it has a ‘Synch’ feature that all devices get all files updated you’ve listed in preferences. It important to me, when I save notes on my mobile device, while at home, I can go to a different machine located at home or work and have access to those files seamlessly. It’s irritating having to fumble around for a different app that downloads or uploads the file. It always , for me, turns into a digital juggling act. Especially that I’m handicapped. Dealing with SCI and crashing apps is not fun. There is a learning curve which I got through mostly by experimentation for a few days and some help files and DOCs on the WWW. This is a MicroSoft developed app. Yes, I’m a PC user. But only, through the years I could not afford those beautiful MACs. Now, retired and three kids out of my home, I can afford Apple products. My iPAD is a great addition to my LAN. I like “Open Systems”. But, I’m losing count of how many times I’ve been hacked. Apples seem to be more secure. The draw back is your kind of stuck with an OS that makes it difficult to move files around. I had to try out many different note taking apps that would let me decide which machines I wanted to transfer files. Most of the apps displayed a list from the cloud, music, movie, PDFs and download folder from the local device that is in use. Those were the only file locations displayed. Evernote will let you work on files in folders you choose. That is the only draw back that seems to be common among all the Apple apps. I still give Evernote 5 stars. Well, I think my brain is starting to stink. So, I’ve got to go washout my brain.
Fantastic except minor bugs that make daily use tedious and frustrating
by Pwntytwn on 2020/05/27 11:24
I’ve been using this app for a very long time to write and share my notes between my phone and laptop. A lot of my ideas come to me when I’m not near my laptop, so I use the phone app to jot them down and even sketch out scenes very quickly until I can flesh them out later. My problem is this: if my phone screen locks, the app will either refresh or exit entirely. I lose my place, especially if I’m editing a bigger note. I also can’t multitask and tab away from the app to look something up without it refreshing and losing my place. The lock screen issue in particular is very frustrating. I have to reopen the app and find my place again every time. I love this app, but these fixes would improve the quality of the app tenfold.
Scammers
by justdododo on 2020/05/25 07:55
Evernote is not really reliable and it’s vulnerable to scammers. A month ago the Russian idiots hacked into my Evernote demanding me to pay $400 into a Bitcoin address with 5 days ultimatum or else all my sensitive info will be given to those that knows how to use my info. The hackers not only entered my account, they changed one of my documents to Russian language and left my password and all my documents as proof that they have my info. I changed my password and they still have access to my account as I write now while Evernote did nothing to protect there users info. Despite the fact that I deleted the app I still receive an email alerts that someone has signed in to my account but provided nothing to stop these fools. Anyway, I’ve transferred all my documents out of there...they can do whatever they like with the account.
Security Hazard
by JSue81 on 2020/05/24 14:35
I installed this app as a place to save notes for an upcoming vacation. It worked fine for that purpose, but I didn’t log in often. I just came to discover that multiple devices that were NOT my own, were connected to my account (for months!). My login history showed that I’ve had people logging into my account from all over the world! I have never had such a blatant security breach, with no notification from the company until this had been going on for months. I deactivated my account and would suggest others look into your account security.
My regular program, some stuff I want to warn people of
by Avatarnessdogwhatever on 2020/05/24 05:22
Okay I just want to start out saying that this app is the best I’ve ever used. It’s the only app I go to anymore, and it has a lot of space. But there are a few problems I’d like to talk about, because this is something people need to know and I hope the creators fix this. I was putting a 41 second long video on a note, and then it said it wouldn’t sync because I had reached my limit for the month. LIMIT FOR THE MONTH. I’ve used five writing programs other than this and not one of them had that. It’s just... not very helpful for those who want to write. Putting the video in the note at all was also very frustrating. You have to put the video in a file and then attach the file to the note. You can’t just directly add the video. When you upgrade it, you still have a monthly limit. You can put more stuff on, but it doesn’t go away. If you were going to make the maximum larger, why not just go ahead and get rid of it? It would make everything SO much easier. In conclusion, it’s a great program that I’ve been using for a few years now, but it’s flawed. You definitely want this app.
I’m back after a 2 year absence
by Ultra Man 7 on 2020/05/24 00:45
I left due to cost. The old middle tier was perfect for me, and I was frustrated with the increased cost that I didn’t feel like I got my value from, because I am not a power user. I switched to OneNote. ON is ok, I was continually frustrated with 2 things. The most important, reliable sync. Evernote just works. I NEVER have to think about it, where with ON it was a constant source of “checking, worry, and troubleshooting.” The second thing was the ON web clipper. This is something I use every day, and Evernote’s web clipper is several classes above ON’s clipper. The combo of a great renewal deal and high frustration level, I’m back. And, what a breath of fresh air!
Needs handwriting support - PLEASE
by Caddisbug1994 on 2020/05/23 22:10
This app needs to recognize that handwriting notes is becoming far more popular than typewritten ones. If evernote wants to keep up with apple notes, notability, goodnotes... and the rise of popular devices like samsung galaxy note 10, ipad pro and surface pros.... PLEASE INTEGRATE HANDWRITING CAPABILITIES. If you say or think you already have this, you are crazy! There is a REASON the top apps for note taking are notability and Goodnotes. If your relaunch is centered around typing and doesn’t offer more native handwriting... it will FLOP.
Getting expensive
by rgdud on 2020/05/23 21:29
I never really used Evernote a lot. But it was handy for collecting items that I came across, and could jot down, photograph or otherwise keep. Recipes I picked up here and there for example. Could see on iPhone and iPad. But upgrade is one the expensive side unless I misunderstood something. Turned into one of those rent by the month apps.... at least if you have more that two devices.
Not safe
by naivtk on 2020/05/23 16:56
My Evernote was hacked, don’t put anything personal because it’s very vulnerable to hacking. Only use it for reminders or very simple things. If you do use it, make a very strong password. Don’t put any passwords, card numbers in notes unless you want your information be stolen or used.
Hacking is Common
by bryceshipo1 on 2020/05/23 06:17
This app is VERY prone to hacking so i would not recommend putting in personal information as the hacker will try to use this against you in attempt to gain money.
Great app
by Therakker on 2020/05/22 18:27
Update 5/22/2020: Still brutally slow, to the point of being unusable on iPhone XS Overall the best/feature packed notes app out there. Capture everything from everywhere - notes, scans, business cards, audio notes. Please please focus on making core functionality as fast as possible, creating a new note which I do most often has been sluggish on iOS (iPhone XS, latest build). Nice to have - notebook encryption(I use Evernote at work, at home etc), more than two levels of stacks.
Stable old friend
by David 94402 on 2020/05/21 16:11
I have been an Evernote user since2011 and have seen many iterations of the program over the years. I have also searched for the “perfect” note taking app and have tried several other programs during this time. However, I keep coming back to Evernote as my home base because it does it all. The note taking is great, the saving internet information with Web Clipper is great, and the use of tags is great. Yes, there many other programs that can do similar things, but Evernote continues to be my home base because I can use it for both work and personal applications. Good job Evernote! Keep being the best note taking program out there! Ps: It would be great if you could add a to do task like Wunderlist use to be!
Desktop is amazing, mobile unusable
by erichenry14 on 2020/05/20 05:17
I love the desktop and web versions, and use them for everything except taking or reading notes on my phone. The mobile version is so unstable and constantly reloading as to be unusable.
Forgets the same iPhone
by StarAngel094 on 2020/05/19 20:08
Locked out of using it because it forgot the iPhone I was logged into it twice. It thinks the same and only iPhone I use with it is a different device and insists on unsyncing it costing me two unsyncs for the same device!
Disappointing Customer Service
by Sammi4545 on 2020/05/19 08:52
Using Evernote for business but no support at all. My “permission denied” access for no reason and zero response from Evernote “support”. Can’t run a business on this app. Look elsewhere.
Device “Limit” Error
by Randomeperson on 2020/05/18 16:14
I’ve used Evernote for 5 years and it is now unusable since I keep receiving an error saying I am signed into too many devices when I’m only signed into two (the max limit for basic users). I’ve tried revoking the “third” device multiple times but the error keeps popping back up and kicking me out of my two devices. Unfortunately, Evernote doesn’t provide contact support to basic users so there is nothing that can be done to solve this issue. I used to recommend this app to a lot of people but now I can’t any more. Note: if they miraculously address this issue, I will be happy to change my review.
Charged but Subscription not Updated
by Asaelen on 2020/05/17 22:24
I have been using Evernote for 6-7 years, and I figured it was about time that I update my subscription to premium instead of just free. So I went ahead and did so. They charged my card, but my subscription still says and acts like the basic package. I have sent in a support ticket, but they have yet to reply or do anything about it. I am extremely disappointed as this is theft.
Locked out after password reset
by dataskatt on 2020/05/15 02:48
I’m an intelligent person, but this app is hard to use. There is nothing intuitive about it.
Great platform, iPad app UX misses the mark
by Naturalist22 on 2020/05/13 19:48
Been an Evernote user for over 14 years, and I do not see moving to anything else at this point. MacOS app and web UX are great, and allow easy tagging, easy setup and calling of saved searches, etc. iPad app is a struggle here, and if the iPad goes to sleep and locks, you have to restart the app, and navigate back to the note you were working on. Huge time waster. Also, needs to adopt the ease of annotation and drawing that you see in Apple’s Notes app. Current integration of typed and drawn notes is clunky at best.
What happened
by otter0616 on 2020/05/10 07:46
You broke my heart, what happened to you Evernote?
This used to be great.
by Grandma s 1953 on 2020/05/09 19:10
I have used this for years and even had the premium version for awhile. It has gotten obnoxious with a nag page constantly to upgrade and it used to sync with the iPad but now it is always saying my note is too long. It is mostly recipes. I am looking to replace.
Keeps crashing
by Koukla-la on 2020/05/09 14:26
I love Evernote, and have been using it for years. However, in the past month or so it keeps crashing. I open it on my phone to look at notes, and it just constantly turns off.
Crashes lots
by Great game ,,,,,, on 2020/05/07 03:01
Good app. Love using the todo list function and the quick note creator is a must. The app crashes all the time though.
Super late review considering...
by Uaoihb on 2020/05/06 22:52
I’ve had Evernote since 2011, and through all these years it’s served as the most convenient note taker, journal, and list app I’ve had. It’s one app I consider an essential, I’m always needing to write things down, especially since my brain runs so fast, and I love that this app is easily accessible, keeps those things in a convenient place, and allows usage on other platforms if necessary. Love this app and highly recommend!
Thousands of notes later, still in love with this app <3
by JoveLovesBread on 2020/05/06 12:09
Best note taking app !
Once amazing. Now, sadly, below average.
by Cassiofm on 2020/05/06 07:47
I used to rave about it and for almost 10 years recommended it to friends with excitement. Now the app gets worse every update, unreliable, buggy... really frustrating after so many years... I’ve finally gave up and cancelled my subscription, when it expires I’ll rely on the free version and slowly try to migrate elsewhere :(
Love Evernote however the App is Broken!!!
by WRWolfe on 2020/05/06 00:25
App opens but Crashes after EVER TIME. Please fix! I needed this App to work!
I’m starting to hate it.
by NamiNamih on 2020/05/05 20:16
The reason for this is how problematic it has become when I’m using bullet points. 98% of them times when I hit enter, it deletes my bullet points and makes a whole mess! I’m getting very anxious about this.
Deceitful business practices
by kly42213 on 2020/05/05 01:18
Warning - they auto renew without reminders. App is over priced. Customer support doesn’t respond to you. Use a free note tool instead
iOS devices keep duplicating
by aledbetter333 on 2020/05/04 21:36
I love so much about Evernote. I only use the free version and I only use it on two devices - my iPhone and my iPad. But it thinks the app is on additional devices and requires me to unsync every time I open it. Unless I find a solution soon, I’ll be switching apps, which is a shame because I do love this one and often have recommended it to friends.

Horrible service change!!
by Aleucat on 2020/05/04 13:30
I have loved this app for years; until today when I try to view one of my lists and find them held hostage until I sign up for their “free” 7 day trial! Which they charged me for immediately, not after 7 days. I would have thought some notice would be a courtesy they could have provided instead of seizing my account!! I will be canceling this service and requesting a full refund for my “free” trial!!

Used to Love this App
by Travis N on 2020/05/01 01:21
Once upon a time, I used Evernote for everything. I had notes, journals, recipes, you name it. I used the premium service because of my note sizes and amount of use. There were still issues and minor annoyances, but, overall I was satisfied. Then, I lost a note and was told I had to upgrade to the next level to recover it. I did so but was unhappy about it. The Mac app also stopped functioning at this point limiting me to the web-based version. So I scaled back and went to the free version. This version was alright for a while but one month - this past month - I went over the size limit for a note. A box popped up. I deleted some pictures. The box still popped up - repeatedly. Like every time you open Evernote (not just that note). I scaled the note way back (actually copied it to Google Drive). It still popped up. I deleted the note. The box still popped up. I went to report the issue to Evernote but you have to upgrade to get support. This only happens on the app, not the web version. So at this time, I only open Evernote to transfer content over to Google Drive. Bye Evernote.
Reloads ever time my iPad goes to sleep
by ellentk on 2020/04/30 22:00
Not a fan of the ipad app. I use the website version on my Mac laptop as I’ve found the app cumbersome. It is especially cumbersome on the ipad - it reloads the note you are in every time the ipad goes to sleep or you go to another app. Then you have to go into the app, find the note again and scroll down to where you were! Really annoying. And you can’t email a note unless you give Evernote access to your contacts and calendar, which is annoying as not everyone I want to email a note to is in either of these! I’ve been using Evernote almost since they first started, so these little issues are really annoying.
Useful... But very buggy. No way to report bugs!
by Jyunte on 2020/04/30 18:22
Text formatting is ridiculously bad for an app that's all about taking notes! Copying and pasting text from another app should be simple, but it isn't. If the text you're copying is formatted, or contains links, you can't simplify the formatting. Sure, there's a "paste as plain text" feature, but it doesn't paste as plain text, it just says the font to the default size and leaves links etc intact. It also has a "simplify formatting" feature. I've yet to find out exactly what that does, because in nearly 3 years of using Evernote, it doesn't seem to do anything at all! I went online and used the web version of Evernote this morning, because there's no way to print from the iPad app unless you have Apple compatible wifi connected printers. I open-ended my note, chose print, and it printed the first page, and 2 blank pages. I thought I'd report the various bugs that I'd found in the app, but they want you to pay to get support... To report bugs! This is a useful app, but it has so many bugs that I dread using it.
Needs a Tag View
by Nornwen on 2020/04/29 23:33
Seriously needs a tag view that shows tags hierarchically, including unused tags. Everytime I go onto the Evernote forums to talk about stack and notebook hierarchy people tell me tags are a good option. They are not even close to same, and people have been asking for hierarchical stacks for years, its one of the most popular feature requests. If I have to use hierarchical tags though, shouldn't I at least be able to view them as a hierarchy?
Force Upgrade
by Eyezshut on 2020/04/29 13:20
I've used this FREE AP for over 7yrs & never had it ever forced me to upgrade. Luckily I have my previous phone that I can still access my passwords & it hasn't been forced to upgrade so it's something in either the OS or newer iPhone. Either way, I'm being forced to use another password app which will prevent me from coming back to Evernote!
USED TO LOVE IT
by Sandie Hea on 2020/04/28 04:48
What the heck did you change? The type written words don’t come out as fast as your fingers are moving, it erases entire sentences when you only backspaced a few letters, it seems to be trying to “sync” while I’m typing in it. Sorry, this favorite app of mine is starting to scare me that someone has hacked it badly. I also just had it shut down on me in the middle of my typing. That’s never happened before and I’ve been a user for about 7 years. It’s extremely glitchy. FIX THIS PLEASE AND PUT IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS. Why does a developer put out a GREAT PRODUCT and then keeps tweaking it to where we all start hating it because they can’t sit on their hands and enjoy their success!!!
Suddenly it’s unavailable
by mommanb on 2020/04/27 20:42
My faithful old EverNote will not stay open in my iPhone 11. I can open the app, but it turns itself off within 5 seconds. Frustrating!
Awful!
by crispeto1 on 2020/04/26 18:27
I was an Evernote fan for years but they got fairly greedy and the service has gone downhill. There are so many notebook apps now that do everything Evernote does for cheaper and better. If you want a great notebook app that does everything Evernote does, look at Notebook by Zoho! It’s amazing, looks far more polished and is completely free!
Used to be better
by hturuth on 2020/04/25 22:35
I used to love Evernote for notes and recipes but it reloads the page over and over now and jumps around. I am annoyed that I can’t print from the app- such a hassle and can’t believe I have to pay for such lack of functionality. I’m also not loving that they don’t have great security.... I’m looking for something better so I can switch over and get rid of Evernote ASAP
App refresh bug makes it useless
by Kaptain Kirby on 2020/04/25 16:48
I’m a premium user who has been using Evernote for 10 years, and the app refresh bug has made this service useless. Any time I switch the view away from the app to multitask or put the phone to sleep momentarily, it forgets what note I was looking at when I switch back (or scrolls to the top of the note view). This is extremely frustrating when I’m looking at a recipe and constantly have to search for the same note over and over, then scroll to the point of where I left off. Please fix this now before I unsubscribe, and move all my stuff to OneNote.
Went back to iOS notes
by Andthen again on 2020/04/23 22:41
This app is very glitchy, why would I pay? And you can’t email support unless you pay. My notes show the preview then when I open it, it’s blank. Wasted too much time so now I will only use iOS notes app
it‘s confusing
by guest193748 on 2020/04/23 18:17
I thought I likes it till I stated to pay for it. I paid the membership on its chinese webpage and then download its app on my Iphone. I logged in through the ID I paid for, but it says I’m still a free account. Apparently the two systems are not talking to each other.
It has become unusable for me.
by Mears Family on 2020/04/22 02:20
Evernote went from hero to zero now that it refreshes anytime I leave the app even for a second to copy and paste something or cross reference. I’ve been paying for the premium sku for years and use it as my GTD “Secret Weapon”, but sadly will have to find a new solution soon unless it’s fixed very soon.
Cursor out of control, App won’t stay open
by PT1and2 on 2020/04/21 23:20
While editing text on a mobile device in iOS 13, as soon as you place your finger on the cursor it travels at extremely high speed up, down, and side to side all over the page. It is nearly impossible to manually control the cursor, vastly increasing the time it takes to edit text. This was not a problem when using Evernote in previous operating system versions. I would have rated Evernote 5 stars before this problem began. And may I second another reviewer and beg or plead if absolutely necessary for you to PLEASE fix the problem with a note AS WELL AS EVERNOTE closing completely the moment your screen times out. I also store recipes in Evernote, and it is so frustrating to have to reopen the app, reopen the recipe, and then find where you left off multiple times. Also when writing documents, if you let the phone screen time out, boom you have to reopen the app, reopen the document, and find where you left off. Terrible waste of time. Evernote was not like this before, so it must be possible to fix this. You broke something that was so good.
Useful but frustrating
by Meandyou! on 2020/04/19 16:05
I would give this a higher rating, but it prompts me often to upgrade. I use it only on my iPhone, and I had it before on and Android tablet. I no longer use the tablet and when I open the app on my iPhone it prompts me to upgrade and/or drop a device. I have to constantly do this. Then it continues to remind me I only have to unsync for a limit of 2 times a month! Like what is it’s problem? I already have! Very frustrating.
Great notes app
by anonymouse293018 on 2020/04/18 21:07
Also, WHAT THE FRICK?! I SHARED A WEBSITE TO IT AND IT FLIPPING DOWNLOADED THE WHOLE WEBSITE TO THE NOTE! Great notes app. Edit: I sure hope this is secure, I’m a spy, and I've logged some pretty confidential information in this app. Incidents, birthdays, genders, and some other things. If this isn't secure, well, looks like a lot of information about various things will be spilled.
No support
by Apps4chm on 2020/04/18 18:49
I am unable to login into my account. The app is unresponsive. I tried troubleshooting, per their website instructions, nada. There is no way to contact them. Clicking “Contact Us” directs one to an elaborate web of links and instructions to troubleshooting, which, again, is of no use. My advice: look for a different app, which actually has customer support.
Won’t apply subscription
by ShaeLi247 on 2020/04/18 18:10
I have been an Evernote user for more than 5yrs. I renewed my $70 premium subscription via iTunes....however it won’t apply to the app in any of my devices. Very frustrating. There is no service support, I cannot get past the upgrade subscription screen. What a waste, 5 yrs of notes and I cannot access them on my phone, iPad or computer. Time to move to Microsoft notes. I have spent a couple hours trying to get this resolved and it’s not worth it.
There was once a time
by servnhim on 2020/04/18 15:02
I love some of the features of Evernote, like it OCR for business cards and text in images. But, for $69, you can have the entire Microsoft Office suite, including Onenote, a direct competitor to Evernote. You can also get a paid version of Gsuite. Here’s the thing, people are getting tired of subscriptions and are consolidating. This is why I have dumped Slack and Zoom, too. So, the choice is yours. I think that we will begin to see a decline in subscription service simply because smarter people will invest the money to maximize their productivity.
Found a fix for issue below
by _nickname none on 2020/04/16 07:13
I’m not a paid user which means I’m allowed to have two devices connected to my account. I ONLY use my iPhone and MacBook. When I log into one and then try to log onto the second device, the second device says that I have to unsync a device to continue using it. If I’m logging in from my iPhone, Evernote will say that my MacBook and iPhone are already connected and that I need to remove one of them to use my iPhone.. Same thing happens when I log in from my MacBook. It’ll say my iPhone and MacBook are already connected and I’ll need to remove one of them to continue on my MacBook. I ONLY have two devices that I’ve ever connected to Evernote. For some reason, Evernote registers my devices as new ones every time I switch devices. I‘ve already used my two unsyncs this month and it’s only April 10th. Don’t be fooled — free users, you’re only allowed to use one device 🙄 I’ll be on the hunt for a replacement app. Edit: I found a fix! I logged onto Evernote through my web browser and revoked access to my “three” devices. Evernote will log you out of all devices and you’ll be able to sign in again. Not sure how how long this fix will last but for now, I’m able to use both my MacBook and phone. Edit 2: Evernote has confused my 2 devices as 3 again. I’ll be on the lookout for another app.
Fix the refresh issue!
by rice bun on 2020/04/16 02:56
I had to stop using Evernote because of its refresh/syncing issues where it brings you back to the top of the page every time you switch apps or leave the app. I use Evernote to write long thesis's and stories and lose my place every time, which is very frustrating. I switched back to using Google Docs where i don’t have this issue at all. I like Evernote for its simplicity, but this syncing issue is a deal-breaker. Either they need to fix it or make it so you can’t write 10K words and waste time trying to find where you left off.
I love ever note for organizing my recipes
by TeresinaT on 2020/04/15 17:04

Getting slower with every update
by LSTNJ on 2020/04/13 16:04
4/13/20 I’ve been Evernote paid subscriber for many years a decade perhaps by now. But I find myself using the iPhone notes taking more often that I would like. The main reason is that Evernote takes so long to open, it seem like many processes take place before the thing finally opens. Could developers find a way to open the app quickly so the app is used for the intended purpose and leave whatever background proceses for some other time so it doesn’t interfere with the user main propuse of the app which is taking notes?? Please come up with an idea because at this peace most likely many users will cancel the subscription including myself. Shaving another start because this its been going on for couple of years and hasn’t gotten fixed, quite the opposite getting slower with each update. 12/1/17 After many years with Evernote I find myself instead firing up other apps on my phone to put my notes or record voice messages. Evernote take so long to open, It does seem like it needs to load stuff from the internet instead of locally. My love for this app is sadly dying.
For Evernote
by aniyai568 on 2020/04/11 22:55
Hi I love this app been using it for a while now and was wondering if there was a way you could add it where you could put videos on there just like app notes please.
I love the service but hate the app!
by Saurav Shrestha on 2020/04/11 12:37
1. The note doesn’t stay open if you switch apps. WHAT?? 2. It crashes frequently. 3. Inserting photos to post makes it freeze! The desktop app is 10/10, this one isn’t!
Life-Saver for Schoolwork!
by Anxious&Obsessed on 2020/04/11 06:45
I absolutely LOVE Evernote and it has been a life-saver with my schoolwork, especially since everything is going remote. The ability to pair it with Scannable— another favorite— and then convert my homework directly to a PDF saves my teachers and me a ton of time! I was snapping a picture of each page of my math assignment and then submitting every JPEG. Not only was it time consuming and tedious, but it looked terrible. With Evernote, I can scan all of my pages into one PDF document that my teacher can grade much more quickly and that I can submit much more easily. I especially love the Google Classroom feature that allows me to import Evernote PDFs directly to my assignments. My few requests are: 1. Allow ‘tabs’ within the notebooks. I have separate notebooks for each of my classes, but the ability to break down those notebooks even further into units or subjects would be awesome! 2. Allow importing to Canvas, Schoology, or other school apps. It would only improve this already incredible system! Thank you, Evernote, for making my life as a student and the lives of my teachers so much easier! Every student needs this app on their iPad or even phone, and I know it will be staying on mine.
Lack of auto save is a deal breaker
by zerakin300 on 2020/04/10 02:56
The fact that the iPad going to sleep causes all progress to be lost is unacceptable. It’s shocking that this has been a problem for so long, because the lack of autosave is abysmal. Would never recommend.
Used to Praise this app
by azulpacifica🐚 on 2020/04/09 19:50
This app has been a well loved staple, it’s been an easy to use and search place to create multiple lists. I’ve amassed an extensive restaurant guide for the greater Phoenix and Tucson areas. It’s my go to assist for passwords, copy and paste text for my work. Suddenly, it logs me off. Every time I exit. Irritating, but not enough to change this well ingrained habit and love for the functionality of this app. It literally is a cornerstone of information I’ve stored for things I want to remember but don’t. When I log in, I have an iPad and the iPhone 6s Plus. Haven’t upgraded or changed devices, yet now my phone is being recognized as a different device. Only one phone. Don’t want to unsync the iPad because it has a keyboard attached. So I’ve been unsyncing the same ONE iPhone and yet the next day it saw it as a different iPhone, after the app installed a thing where you cannot unsync more than two times was enforced. Couple months later, and I am LOCKED out. It won’t let me even sign in with the previously approved devices. So now, I’m not allowed to access my personal notes because you want a fee from me? Maybe I can log in on the iPad next month and transfer all of my notes to an app which won’t my data hostage for a few dollars. You’ve lost a loving user of over 6 years.
Auto renewal
by bhunjikmo on 2020/04/09 02:40
If you forget it auto renews don’t bother asking for a refund; you are screwed. Mine renewed April 8, no notice just charged to my account, contacted support, told to change account settings but account would remain at Plus until year was up.
iPad Landscape Mode Bug
by Beemur23 on 2020/04/09 01:40
I love Evernote but my biggest issue is that while using the app on my 12.9” iPad Pro in landscape mode the note window keeps everything at a very narrow width, especially when displaying tables. This isn’t a deal breaker for me but it really is an annoyance that the apps note taking window does not take advantage of the full width of the iPad when in landscape mode. It limits everything within about 25% of the screenspace.
App breaking bug.
by nateyonthespot on 2020/04/07 16:02
Once I type beyond the keyboard, the app won’t auto scroll with the text. If I try and manually scroll down it shoots me back to the top. I saw posts on the internet of people having this same problem, after there was a “fix” people still were encountering the issue...
Super Slow Boot Times & Dumb Search
by NeedHim.org on 2020/04/07 04:36
- not intuitive or user friendly. - if you do a search ring like “to take to Lakehouse”, you’ll get every note that has two, take, two, or Lakehouse in it, instead of the note that “says to take to Lakehouse” on the top of the list. The programmers or coders who write this stuff have to be some of the worst in the United States. I can’t believe how horrible the search function is at in this day and age. FOR A MONTHLY FEE! Also the clairvoyance search function is almost nonexistent. I can’t believe in this day and age that the palm pilot did a better job on searching than Evernote on a phone that has 8-processors. Very sad State of affairs for a paid for app ALSO:
Worse All the Time
by CalebOfTheHampshireCalebs on 2020/04/06 21:49
Slow, unwieldy, freezes often and exits your note completely if you switch to another app for even a second. Evernote was once the king of note apps, and now it barely functions for its core purpose. Update: this app has screwed me over for the last time. Once AGAIN I have lost hours of writing due to Evernote’s completely inept handling of synced changes on multiple devices, and its lack of file history access for non-Premium accounts. Goodbye forever, Evernote. And good riddance.

Couldn’t sign in
by jayw75 on 2020/04/05 20:43
I couldn’t tell you about the usability of this app, as I can’t get past the sign in process. Trying to enter a password gets a message that my password is expired, reset it now, but no link to reset. Sign in with google not working. Giving up on this.
Notifications
by Elena Plackis on 2020/04/04 00:52
Hey! I really love the idea of this app & am definitely eager to continue trying it out! Something I am having some difficulty with is being notified by the app when I have a note reminder set for a certain day. It shows up on my lock screen, but since my phone is unlocked by touch/fingerprint, I don’t always see those notifications because the process is so much quicker than with a passcode. This would be fine, except that the badge on the app hadn’t been registering any notifications until I open the app, so when I’ve gone for days without checking, I can find notes intended for days prior all accumulated & unread (one time there were 8). I would love to see this worked out, because I think it is such a great idea to be able to be reminded of certain notes at certain times & am interested in engaging with it. Thank you so much for your product! I wish you well.
Lost my important notes - because it doesn’t sync
by RandomBystander99 on 2020/04/03 05:11
I’m leaving this app for something more reliable. I’ve supported Evernote from when it first started. It had one job. To sync notes. It doesn’t even sync properly. I’ve been patient with bugs it had. But this is the limit. I’ll discourage everyone from using it

Hacked and No Support
by Stack a couple g's on 2020/03/31 17:56
I used Evernote for about 4 years. I gave this 1 star as a warning to others. My account was hacked, and the log activity showed logins on my account from vietnam, russia, brazil etc. over the last month. I checked my email, and i was never given an alert of a login from those areas. Furthermore, Evernote does not have any email addresses or phone numbers to contact them. I will spend the rest of my day changing my passwords (which were stores on Evernote) and making sure none of my other accounts were comprised. Pathetic security system. Also, i tried to use the two step verification method and never received an email (resent three times) to set it up.
When is outline mode coming?
by Iabrdrive1 on 2020/03/31 00:56
I’ve been a premium Evernote religiously for over 8 years now and appreciate all it has done for me. It is by far the best app in this category. But I seriously can’t wait for them to finally bring in the outline (drop down/toggle) mode. It has been a popular demand for years, and unfortunately it has been largely ignored by Evernote. Next on the list is mind mapping! With these features Evernote will hands down dominate multiple categories of apps.

My go-to app
by Buckethead-fan on 2020/03/29 21:50

Crashes if it’s open when my phone goes to sleep
by HankPopper on 2020/03/29 03:08
Use case: I’m taking pictures in a new note of a book I just finished. I got 10-12 pictures in of roughly 50. While finding the next one quotation, my phone went to sleep (as it does). And I lost all those pictures.
iPhone Version is Terrible
by Frank G v on 2020/03/28 23:00
The usability of the iPhone version has nosedived over the last year, or so. The app screen doesn’t stay at the same location when you toggle between apps, and the screen goes into a half-screen layout that requires you to spend more time manipulating the app than using it for notes. If the iPhone app can approach the use ability of the desktop app, then I could probably give it 4 or 5 stars.
Prior User - Dont use ...
by 0RB on 2020/03/28 18:16
It seems like a good idea, store all your notes and search them in 1 app. I have used Evernote since 2011 and have 10,000+ notes but just stopped using the app due to consistent failures to maintain the app by Evernote. Please don’t use this application. I moved on to google docs for my digital life.

by killthechameleon on 2020/03/24 21:22
Been using Evernote since I was about 12. I’m 20 now, I’ve written a whole book, poems, songs, to do lists, random lists - I use Evernote for everything!!!! I have about 580 notes and some of them are just pages long. This app helped me get through High School. If Evernote were ever to shut down as an app I would be completely heartbroken. My life’s work is on the app. I’m so beyond appreciative of the people working hard behind the scenes to make this app stay alive and well. I’m completely in love with Evernote and I hope one day I get a chance to thank to de developer of this app. THANK YOU!

notice to apple app store
by geniuslibra on 2020/03/22 04:38
I noticed that when I searched Evernote in the App Store first their Ad pops up then underneath that is their app which is already the first app on the page. I think they should only be charged when someone searches for "notes" or "note app" things of that nature but obviously you don't need an ad to pop up when someone searches specifically for "Evernote"

Crashed while using pencil
by Annad khinvasara on 2020/03/21 04:29
I was writing notes for at least an hour, Evernote did not save my notes. Then suddenly the app crashed. My notes were gone after I came back. This is totally unacceptable. I pay a premium for what? I’m planning to cancel if developers cant even save from time to time. Simple notes app works much better. I would recommend iPad owners to not pay this premium and use the app.
Daily staple, but has issues
by not an itunes fan on 2019/10/30 23:17
I’ve used Evernote for years across all platforms - laptop, phone, and iPad. A while back they limited the free version to just two devices, so I dropped the iPad for my phone and laptop. I use Evernote for everything - work, personal notes, journal, recipes. Pretty much everything I ever write down goes into Evernote. I have no complaints about the desktop version, however the mobile app has been giving me so much trouble over the last year. It’s been a lot slower and crashes more often. None of my other phone apps do this, and my phone is running very smoothly, so I know it’s not the device. The other thing that really bothers me is that notes don’t stay open when the screen turns off or when you switch apps then switch back to Evernote. For example I use Evernote to store all my recipes, and while I’m cooking I’ll have the note with the recipe open, and then if I switch to my web browser to look up something, or my phone screen turns off, Evernote closes the note and it goes back to the main screen where all your notes are. This is super tedious and frustrating because then instead of looking at my phone to see what’s next in the recipe, I have to go back and search for the recipe again. It seems like a minor thing, but I think it’s pretty basic and should be addressed. If my phone was off for a long period of time I wouldn’t expect the note to stay open, but it’s always a matter of minutes if not less than a minute.
Lost photos I uploaded for recipes
by Turkey Sandwiches on 2018/01/06 19:23
I used to love Evernote until today. I bragged to all of my friends how great Evernote. I use it for many things including as a recipe storage. I am using Evernote basic. However, today the App lost 2 of my recipes. I’m very frustrated. I had a special pasta recipe I was going to make with my son. I saw the photo of the recipe on my phone and when I clicked on it and opened it up the photo disappeared. I can’t seem to get it back in any way. I think this is a terrible thing to have happened. I tried to organize my recipes electronically and pitched the hard copies. Now I have lost that recipe and another. I clicked on another recipe from the app and that photo disappeared as I opened it. I think I took these photos in 2015. The app worked fine for a recipe photo I took in 2017 this morning but it losing older photos. This is unacceptable. I stopped opening recipe notes and went to the webpage on my Mac to open other recipes and the browser version worked fine with the other pasta recipes I added the same day. But now I have wasted an hour trying to no avail to restore the image. Because I’m a basic user, I’m not even able to email customer support. The app appears to be garbage right now if it loses photos while the web browser does not. I’m so disappointed.
Amazing customer service and great study tool

I love this app for taking notes for my classes. I’ve since used it as a weekly and monthly planner making organizing classes so much easier. I love that I can have all my class notes and planners all in one spot. It’s easy to navigate through as well. The formatting for taking notes makes it easy to follow along in class without having to worry about organizing my notes. I use the class notes template and there’s even a section for questions which I’ve found very helpful as I tend to think of things during lecture but usually at inappropriate times. This template allows me to quickly jot down thoughts so I can ask the professor after class. I’ve only just started to use this app but I’m sure I’ll be using this note taking app well into graduate school. I had to use cengage for one of my college classes and it offered a 6month free trial and after trying to redeem that I ended up being charged for the full annual price. I reached out to customer service and got a response almost immediately with a refund and they honored the free trial as well. I’m beyond happy with this fast service and doing the right thing, I fully expected to be charged the full amount. The only thing I’d love to see is different highlighter colors!
App going downhill
by Bernadette Minton on 2019/12/15 20:40
I’ve used Evernote for years, but lately thinking of switching. Major issues: (1) search function used to be awesome t has been getting worse and worse; lately it is missing simple matches such as plural vs singular, incorrect spellings etc. with all the text matching tech available today there is no excuse for this poor level of word matching. (2) I store all my recipes in the app and a super common use case is to create list from a recipe and or switch between 2 or more recipes that I am making at the same time; Evernote behavior for both of these is very time-wasting. On my phone c every time I switch away from Evernote (to add some items to the shopping list) when I return to the recipe it starts me back at the top of the recipe again. Since many of my recipes are clipped from the web the actual recipe text may be V long due to clipping issues- so I may have to scroll 4-5-6 or more screens to get back to the list of ingredients. There’s just no excuse for losing y view location when I switch to another app for less than a minute. And most other apps are able to keep my view with no problem- for example e-commerce sites with long pages of product lists. In short Evernote should get the basics right before advanced “recommended items “ features that I don’t find particularly useful.

Useful but imperfect
by DonPablo21 on 2018/11/21 13:50
This is still the best app for my needs, but it has plenty of annoying quirks. I've used Evernote for many years, with over 100 notes covering everything from the grocery list to future work plans to my son's college search. I find it helpful having access to all of these notes from my Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and being able to share certain notes with specific family members or colleagues. None of its competitors offers the same combination of selective note sharing, table creation and editing, and text formatting. Yet there are still quirks. Newly edited notes take a surprising amount of time to be saved, or must be saved manually - if you aren't careful about this and the note is later edited in another device, new versions of the note are created or sometimes appended to the end of the current note without warning you. Evernote on the Mac can change the font in notes, but not on iOS, and sometimes routine copy/pasting on iOS results in text with bizarre fonts that can't be fixed on that device. The use of Apple Data Detectors also means that anything Evernote thinks might be a phone number or calendar event is highlighted like a clickable link - I wish this could be turned off.

Customer Service
by Cocoleann on 2017/08/17 16:44
If you are looking for a company that has accessible customer service, look elsewhere. For many people, we don't realize how important customer service is until we are in a dire pickle, but, let me be the one to tell you, it is VERY important to have the option to speak with someone during those times of need. Evernote, on the other hand, doesn't seem to believe in customer accessibility or satisfaction. When having an issue with my billing account, I attempted to call the customer service number given on my bank statement only to be transferred to a voicemail telling me to leave my email address. The only form of communication they offer is through email or online chat. While that is great for younger people, there are other generations who would prefer speaking with an actual person to help deescalate the issue before it gets out of hand. It is also in their policy to not give refunds. My experience today was joining an online chat, being told there was nothing they could do for the extra $64 in charges they cost me, and to have a great day. I will be checking to make sure that the companies I choose to give my business to have a phone number I can call from now on to know they actually care about their customers. It also says something about a site that has almost as many 1 stars as 5 stars. Thanks for nothing, Evernote.
Bring back native Dark Mode and fix time outs
by Deep derp dep on 2019/10/16 12:48
Longtime Pro user of Evernote and love it. It’s great for my dream journal and all the other notes I need to take as well. I just really wish you didn’t get rid of native dark mode in the app. I like using dark mode in Evernote regardless of what my iPhone is doing. It is just much easier on my eyes and I’ve been using it that way forever. I’ve seen similar requests in the reviews to bring it back, and it really doesn’t seem like a big deal to do. Please consider it, it was a great touch and details like that matter when you’ve been using them forever. Also the app times out MUCH quicker now. I have also seen many others annoyed about this in the reviews. I, too, will be doing research in another app or browser, and quickly move back and forth between that and Evernote to make notes. It used to be no problem, but after these last updates, it essentially times out immediately upon shifting from Evernote to a different app. Coming back to Evernote, it might not have even saved what I had just written and it’s back to the top. Please fix this! I’ll gladly change my rating to 5 stars once these bugs and features are fixed. Please listen to your customers or they’ll start moving to the competitors who do.
Desktop App Needs Better Security
by Mark Nosrati on 2019/09/23 06:46
I absolutely love Evernote. I’ve been a premium member since 2012. One of my biggest complaints that they still have not addressed is the security issues. Specifically relating to the desktop app. The mobile version allows you to set a time that it automatically logs you out. Unfortunately, the desktop doesn’t. That leaves your content vulnerable to people who wish to access your content without your permission should you step away from your computer and forget to log out. Yes I know I could use a screensaver to achieve a similar layer of security but that blocks me from everything on my computer. I don’t know why this is possible on the mobile app but not in the desktop. Also, Evernote does not allow you to set additional layers of security for notes or notebooks. You can encrypt text in a note but it doesn’t save that password in an admin settings area. So if you forget or lose the password you lose access to your content. These are sloppy and unrefined security issue if you ask me. I believe Evernote should address these issues and by doing so it can add tremendous value to their overall product.
Evernote Remains Tone Def & Continues to Ignore Their Fan Base
by omnizen on 2019/09/29 15:27
Beloved Evernote! You have so gone astray. Eagerly waiting to see how the new changes in leadership and team at large would impact the future developments of the IOS app and Evernote app at large, I must say it’s been an underwhelming experience. It’s great to see the direction Evernote is going and vision. At the same time, the IOS app continues to suffer the pain staking issues. This app once was my go to all things productivity and business app but has grown to be such a crusting tool to use that I can no longer support a company that continues to ignore and refuse to listen to the requests fans and supports alike have been begging for. In a time of industry disruption and competition, it’s hard for me to see Evernote being able to keep and attract new customers to their platform while being gone def to the user base needs/requests. Me personally this rant has been building up. The lack of usability, reliability and restriction on the IOS platform mainly, has been the biggest frustration. At this point I feel the company just isn’t competitive enough nor is in tune with the user base to make the necessary course corrections to deliver a product that makes work and life easier. This brand and app have really taken a turn off the beaten path and into the abis.
Crucial to my lifestyle. One issue
by ChrisLee_38 on 2020/02/22 13:31
I love this app. The organization of notebooks is essential to my lifestyle. I use notebooks for school, work, and my writing hobby, as well as my songwriting. If evernote randomly vanished one day, I’d be in trouble. I absolutely love the app. I have it on my iPhone 6 and my Macbook. It works great on both, with one reoccurring bug. On the iPhone, the app crashes every time I lock my phone. Even if I lock it for 2 seconds just to test this theory, it will crash without fail. Fortunately, it ALWAYS saves the note before closing the app (props to you, devs). But because the app does use a hefty amount of battery while using it, I like to lock my phone between writing things down. But every time I do that, I have to launch the app again and load up the note. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but to no avail. That’s my only complaint. I encourage everyone in my circle to use the app. I’ve never paid a cent to use it, and I’m nowhere near where I need to be to require premium. So I find it’s well worth the app space and little glitches.
Wonderful app—watch consistency limited and spotty.
by gvmanderson7 on 2020/02/27 01:33
Love the app. Interface is amazing. Connectivity superb. However, there are only 20 spaces for notes available on the watch, and when you have 200 or so, that’s just not convenient. Also, though I have not submitted a customer service request and that may negate many individuals opinions and the value they place in this review, this is something that has manifested through multiple Apple Watch updates: the app on the watch will simply open up and show no notes. None whatsoever. I have tried syncing the app, I have tried updating the app, closing the app on the watch and phone and restarting both the watch and the phone...no dice. Definitely a minute bug that could be fixed and bring the Evernote app up to full potential. That and expand the number of notes available on the watch and make the search feature more effective as it has never found a note I was looking for when I used the voice command. But again, love the app, LOVE the app, just a few tweaks and we’re golden.
No customer service
by SoonerAce on 2017/10/05 15:47
So I've been using Evernote for over three years now and I really do love some of its features. However, two things really grind my gears. 1) When they changed to basic free accounts vs. paid upgrade accounts, we lost the ability to access on all devices as they limited basic users to two devices. I have it on my phone & laptop, so I can't have the app on my tablet. So I tried to access through the browser on my tablet and it wasn't "formatted" for that kind of access. Now it just forces you to the app store. Beyond irritating. 2) There's ZERO customer service. As a basic user, your only option is the user forum which has too many posts to read, and it's just users - not Evernote help desk. So how some rando user is supposed to answer my account-specific issue is beyond me. Not only that, but from what I see in the forums from paid users, Evernote takes weeks to respond to inquiries, if at all. So what's the point of upgrading to paid service? I don't understand how they run a successful user-based business without supporting the users. It's really disappointing because when functioning properly, it's a great product.
It’s a great tool
by doxzero on 2018/10/15 09:11
It’s a great tool for various different reasons. I think an interesting set of features would be a kind of automation, e.g., the ability to set up conditions so if I write certain words the note is added to certain folders or has certain reminders set to it or maybe even triggers a notification to specific people, etc. Also, something I think should be implemented is title caps in .… well, the TITLES of notes. Why is that not a thing? Or at least a toggleable setting? Lastly, why is it that the icon badge notification number is not at all connected to the actual trigger of the notification. I should open the app and it should be totally clear what the notification number is referring to, whether it’s reminders or updates or whatever. The user is just left adrift once he taps on the icon and then has no clue what triggered the notification. It’s just plain bad UX and your UX folks should really be talked to about that because it’s rather fundamental stuff they are missing.
Evernote still the best for organizing and searching
by MikeInCarrolltonTexas on 2018/09/07 02:36
I have tried OneNote a few times to see if it was as good as Evernote. OneNote has good editing tools within a note, but seems to be lacking when comes to FINDING your notes. I like Evernote’s search ability - select one ore more tags or a notebook - and then search within that context. I like that you can see Evernote’s list of tags at a glance on the left - and then quickly see a list of those notes that have that tag. And when you put in a search string, Evernote instantly shows you a list of notes that match, along with the first few lines of the note - even if what you’re searching for is within an embedded image (or PDF file since I have Premium). This ability to quickly find what you’re looking for within a thousand notes is critical for me. I don’t think ON is a replacement for Evernote for me - because of this alone. I hope Evernote stays afloat for a long time to come!
My most useful—and most flawed—app
by spcorcor on 2019/10/30 21:52
I have used Evernote as a paid user for almost its entire lifespan (>10 years). I use its desktop and iOS apps for nearly everything in my work and personal life. It is a wonderful tool. That said, Evernote is falling further and further behind its competition. The app is incredibly buggy and is in desperate need of a modernization and overhaul. Evernote has been promising this for years, but I wonder if that day will ever come. The current version in iOS 13.2 has one major bug that makes it *incredibly* difficult to use. If you are working in/on a note and move away from it for any amount of time—say to read an email, copy content from a web browser, or your auto-lock kicks in—you lose your place when you return to Evernote. At best, EN reloads your note and takes you to the top of the note when you return to it. At worst, EN takes you back to the “all notes” list where you have you navigate back to the note you were working in and find your place. This goes against all principles of basic multi-tasking and is a major productivity killer. My rating will be stuck at one star until this serious issue is resolved.
Great idea, great app, a number of annoying things
by amanante on 2019/06/21 04:04
It’s a great app. I would easily put 5/5 if not only for annoying little nuances that make it more difficult to use. I went online to see if any of the issues I experienced were already addressed in the past. Turns out, many of them were addressed a long time ago (like 5-6 years back) - and the Evernote team simply does not seem to care to fix them. For instance, tables are not mobile friendly. Like at all. You have to swipe back and forth to navigate. You can’t change the size of pictures. You can’t create a table on the app. There are only 3 font sizes. You can’t select thumbnail for your notebooks and notes, it selects it for you - which is pretty irritating. The size of annotations are not uniform which means they may appear smaller or bigger depending on the size of your picture.. Etcetera, etcetera... Evernote team! Is it that difficult to fix all of this?!? It’s been taking you guys years now. Maybe you should hire new developers?
Two problems to fix
by BlindInsight on 2018/08/26 20:12
When taking a note, there are many problems with Voiceover. First, when swiping to the right, sometimes it skips over the title field & other times it skips over the multi-line text field. When typing in the field, you can’t move by letter or word & have it affect where the cursor is located. When The keyboard is brought up from simply looking at a note, the cursor is somewhere in the middle of the text already in it. Unlike most text fields, double tapping on it does not move the cursor to the start or the end of the text field. You also cannot listen to the entire note when the keyboard is available. This makes creating & editing notes inaccessible to Voiceover. Sharing to Evernote takes a long time after entering text & choosing the folder. Once I hit save, a loading icon is shown while I have to wait for a long time to share it. If these problems are solved, I will be satisfied with Evernote. Until Evernote is Voiceover accessible, I will use another note taking app that is accessible.
Staple app! Must have.
by R Shelley on 2020/03/02 19:42
I’ve had this app for years. I mean yeeears. I’ve used it across platforms and devices and it is seamless. I’ve never had it glitch or not work on each new phone I’ve purchased. At first, I only got it to take notes on the go when I was in military aviation. It helped me keep all unclassified tidbits in one safe space, but then I watched it and my need for it grow both over time and after I left the military for new professional endeavors. Other apps have tried to do something similar with their own novel touches, like Trello which I think is a decent app, but nothing has yet truly rivaled Evernote. Its easy to use and helps busy minds like mine to braindump everything into a tidy new entry while allowing me to build on it and reprioritize the contents along the way. I haven’t tried linking individuals for a shared group experience, like teams yet, but I am sure it would be a synch. It’s got pretty much everything you need from simple notes both with text and finger writing to scanning, audio, and video to checklists and more. Now that I am writing a book, it has become my writing research hub both on the go and while sitting at my computer. I open up a new web browser tab on my desktop and do everything I need to do right there with a click of the mouse. That way, I don’t need to transpose everything I am researching onto my phone a second time. Great app! Probably my favorite.
Revolutionized my leadership
by JETBatt on 2019/12/08 00:26
John Maxwell says that you should read, write, and file EVERYDAY. This unquestionably is the app which allows you to do just that. And best of all, it's free! Add copied text right into a new note. All your data is available on any device that you have Evernote installed. Move seamlessly between iPhone and multiple computers which are instantly synced. Just plain AWESOME!! As a pastor, this is an invaluable tool allowing me to keep a daily prayer journal, sermon ideas, prayer requests, and note taking all in the same program!!! As an adult with ADHD, Evernote is a place I can offload my brain, and get all those random thoughts, things I’m supposed to remember, and stuff I don’t want to forget, a place to land and be organized. It also provides for me a stable platform to GTD (Get Things Done) using available GTD templates which greatly aid in my focus and organization. I cannot write anything negative for Evernote. So I won't even try! Get it!
Great app but they don’t know who they want
by @davessuccess on 2018/03/17 13:32
I keep getting ads about using Evernote business but I don’t want their service for business. I do use it for business but I don’t think they understand what I want as a business owner. I use it for myself, I don’t have a team, although I imagine I will at some point, I don’t think that this would even serve my team if I had one. there’s only one thing I want out of the premium service and that is being able to use the app on all my devices. That really should be a free service. It’s stupid the way you guys do it. It’s incredibly frustrating. I’ll make this easy for you Evernote. The only way I would pay a higher price for what you offer is if you provided mind mapping or flow charting in my note taking. There isn’t really a great option out there and it would allow me to see everything all at once. You guys should consider all the ways people can take notes and I think this would be the next frontier. You guys also could make it easier to make charts and graphs. I think those two things would be worth the price.
Font size issue.
by 1 & only bagel boy on 2018/09/30 19:18
Got this app after friends recommended it and I’m loving it. I’m more organized and productive already. Love the notebook layout and the cross platform from Windows to iPhone. But there’s an issue that reallllly bothers me. Font sizes aren’t consistent across the app on Windows 10 and the iPhone app. I ran a test to see what font sizes corresponds to small, medium, and large. Small on iPhone is 10 on Windows app. Medium is 14. Large is 18. Except something written in “small” on an iPhone, when viewed on a PC and compared to something written in 10 on the Windows app, the text originally written on Windows is larger than the text written on iPhone, despite them both being “10”. If I highlight the text from the iPhone and then select 10 again, it will grow ever so slightly to match the PC font size of 10. The opposite happens if I write something in 10 on PC and then view it on an iPhone and compare it to something written in “small.” What is written in “small” is larger than what was written in 10 on the PC. This is really frustrating because it results in inconsistencies throughout your notes. I know you guys care about organization, design, and consistency. So please fix this issue. Other than that, the app is great, would be 5 stars, but this is really frustrating. You can’t have an app meant for organization have something as basic as font size be inconsistent like this. Thanks for reading this feedback.
90% of What I Need
by Suz tunes on 2020/01/15 20:38
I love this app! Downloaded in 2013, it sat unused for a couple years but I realized the scope and detail it can hold in a way that's easy to collect. I'm a researcher of all things and I wanted to like Timepage and Agenda. While those are far better looking apps, it's clunky going between the two. Outlook is my email client so I use Evernote to capture thoughts on the fly with sync, it's great. As I'm filling in web info, I can save to EN, browsing a good article to reverence - I just use the web clip function to keep organized. I'm always adding pics so I can recall the content of what and why I wanted to sabe a clip. In my job search, I created several notebooks, one called Career. In Career I have job descriptions, wording for keywords, LinkedIn for links, and Resume for well, resume summaries etc. The only feature I wish was prominent is the calendar. And ability to change the obnoxious green default color. This app is my default app. Wanted not to like it but I keep going back!
Essential tool for my small business and life
by Ben Forest on 2019/05/10 19:22
Been using Evernote for five years plus now. Subscribe to the premium edition for the encryption and privacy protections. Use it to keep detailed information about clients. As well as my own life/hobbies. Photos. Audio. But mostly written records that are usually dictate. Powerful search abilities even if I don’t bother with tagging etc. I have always found it when I am needed. Use it on multi platform. Desktop computer, iPhone, iPad and it even logged in remotely via the web. Do you like Evernote apps for the platforms; add speed and I’m able to store key files locally (do not need Internet access). Have needed their tech-support a couple of times. Resolve the issue quickly. If I had it suggested to improve, I’d like to see better Apple Pen support have an apple pen capabilities in the iPad app. My guess is; they are probably working on that
Overall still the Best Note App
by heathrulez on 2018/06/12 19:52
As someone who has been using Evernote for years, despite many hiccups, I still love this app overall. There are still a few annoying glitches for the iPad functionality though. For instance, when you’re typing in a note, and switch to another app and back to Evernote, the cursor often gets locked at the bottom of the note, and you have to click into another note and back into the one you were working on to get the cursor working correctly—Super annoying. The only other thing is that as you type a note, while you have ‘Show Body Text’ selected in ‘Note List Options,’ as you type in a note, the tile in the Notes List continues resizing as it syncs, even if the text you’re editing is far past what’s previewed in said tile. This can be solved by putting the note into full screen or turning off ‘Show Body Text’ but I prefer the settings that cause this glitch.
Evernote
by stevelikecheese on 2019/12/05 03:29
Okay so I’ve had Evernote for a while now and I’ve loved writing everything I need to on it, but there’s no option to contact customer service without paying for the upgrades, which I think is ridiculous. I’ll admit I stupidly put in the wrong email while making my account... but you’d think they’d have a confirmation before accepting your account. Then I lost my password and can’t change it since the emails wrong. Annoyingly you can’t change the email with out the password so what am I supposed to do to get the information on the account I’ve used for three years? Though I’ll say my brains didn’t help the situation... customer service should be an option and there should be other ways around my problem and other people’s when they run into a dire pickle. The app itself I really like but settings and login plus the customer service I feel could make some improvements.
Forced to upgrade
by _concerned_user on 2019/07/23 19:43
I'm not a fan of forcing people to upgrade. Sure, it may be a strategy for your company to grow. But remember that you're working with people. I have been using Evernote for 7 years, and just went on today to access notes on my phone and was told I now need to upgrade to continue to have access to my notes on multiple devices. I have literally always been able to access my evernote on my phone and on my computer/tablet. A feature that was always a feature has now been taken away. I can unsync my other device, or I can upgrade to keep it on my devices. Not a fan. I've purchased an upgraded version in the past, and it was not worth it. And what stinks is now I have literally YEARS of notes and journals and voice memos SAVED in my evernote that it would take forever just to transfer it all somewhere else. I feel like my hand is being forced, and I don't agree with that. Maybe charge new people? Grandfather in the old?
For old software, it’s surprisingly immature
by emmgee53 on 2017/12/27 04:05
I’ve used Evernote since it’s early days. Honestly I would have a hard time living without it. But it’s surprisingly quirky for such an old product. For example the iPhone, iPad, and PC versions seem like they came from different companies. I couldn’t tell you how to search via tag on my iPad but it’s simple on the PC. I started with Evernote on the Mac and recently switched to the PC. It was pretty different. Why? The editor is basic which is fine but it’s too basic. Creating tables is too hard. There should be more formatting options. And the dictionary is odd. Add something to the dictionary and the red underline doesn’t go away. And why doesnt the Windows version support touch screens? It’s a great concept. I love the web clipper. I’m glad to be able to access my notes on different devices. But I wish it worked more consistently across those devices. I wish I had more formatting options.
A tool to centralize all my tasks and notes
by jsejean on 2019/03/09 17:03
With the multiple insufficiencies of outlook for Mac - that we use at a group level, Evernote is my perfect tool for keeping ALL my tasks in the same place, from emails to answer, tasks I create, etc. I forward emails to my Evernote account several times a day to schedule the time to answer (could you add a function where we choose the default notebook to send email reminders to avoid the ‘@‘ step and set that, if no date is mentioned, the default is tomorrow?). I also have the comfort of having my notes everywhere with me on a handwritten format. I used to be a fan of paper notebooks but was losing them all. Solved now! Finally the scan document function is incredible and allows me to manage all my legal scanned contracts in the best possible way. WELL DONE team Evernote.
Mostly works, but syncing is unreliable
by lilmissboyscout on 2019/01/29 17:21
I’m happy with Evernote most of the time, but when Evernote syncing fails, it’s incredible frustrating. I have been using Evernote since 2014. Most of the time, it works great, but oftentimes (and seemingly random), when I input information into the mobile app, it won’t sync with the web app, and when I open the web app, all the information is gone. It reverts back to the prior version and there’s no way to get it back or view past versions. I have written a lot of information at times that cannot be replicated, and randomly it’s just gone. I have experienced this issue since 2016, so I have started backing up everything into Google Drive. I would never use Evernote to store anything that really mattered and am considering discontinuing my use of this app, since having to back up all the information that’s supposed to sync properly the first time around is a waste of time.
Mostly useful
by Ted E. B. on 2019/04/09 16:03
I think the best thing about this app is its ability to scan text on images and allow you to search that text. Years ago this seemed too advanced for my average self to obtain, but here it is. You can scan images on scannable and send them to Evernote, and bam, searchable document. You can organize all your junk and clear out the paper mess in your junk drawer. That said, I’m not using it anymore. You can’t scan the front and back of a business card at the same time, and if you want to add the back afterwards, you can’t use an image on your phone. You can’t copy an image from a business card and paste it to another. Basic editing of a note seems like a basic function to me. Why wouldn’t you be able to edit a note? The image scan is great, but I still need basic functions. Sometimes you need to use a workaround, but if the workaround fails then you get frustrated. I did.
A Bit Frustrated
by tamig000 on 2018/01/08 14:47
I use this app all the time. It’s a way for my husband and I to share ideas about vacations and to-do lists. However, it recently stopped letting me sync. If you don’t sync and open a note that was updated by another user it “modifies” the note in the worst way. I also am not able to get notifications from the app anymore either, which is especially annoying when my husband is trying to chat with me through the app. So I thought I would reach out to customer service to troubleshoot beyond their recommendations on their site. Since I’m not a paying customer I cannot submit a ticket. This is especially frustrating. They are sending a message that their non-paying customers aren’t important. I don’t want to look for another app with similar functions, but I may be forced to if they can’t fix the bugs.
Once a great app, now a hopeless mess
by Eric Grey on 2019/10/29 14:04
I used Evernote from the beginning. I had paid accounts, I had a Business account, and I used to run a blog that focused on using Evernote for running a medical practice. Now, I cannot recommend the app to anyone - and I won’t be telling them to wait around until the issues are fixed. Why? Because Evernote’s leadership has absolutely no interest in responding to the needs of its countless users giving them free user testing information for this past couple of years. If you don’t respond to users, you don’t get new users. For those of you who are saying that you tried OneNote and didn’t like it - yes - that’s because OneNote is also a terrible mess. If you want an app that really works, try Devonthink. While it’s a more complicated piece of software, and a little less shiny in UI, it works extremely well and the in-built AI makes search nearly psychic in its accuracy. Sorry, Evernote. You can only screw up so many times before you completely alienate your users. Really sad.
Bad Design Change
by LeviaEli on 2017/08/16 22:25
I used to love Evernote, having used it for a couple of years. I am a Premium member, and used it for school work and personal life...I used it for everything. I used it on my iPhone, iPad mini, iPad Pro, and MacBook Pro. But, I am very disappointed with the recent updates. Besides performance issues, my main concern is about the horrible design change, primarily the removal of two functions that I used on a regular basis. First, I am sad about the loss of the Card View option. Anyone with common sense on design and visual efficiency would know how convenient and fast the card view is for users. I can't believe that Evernote is willing to give up one of its most valuable characteristics just to follow the bad design of another popular note app. Card View is so important to me, especially on my iPads. It was so easy and fast for me to visually grasp all my notes. Now, it takes forever to scroll through the single line of notes. Evernote, where is your common sense and sense of design and efficiency? Second, I am sad about the loss of Presentation mode. That was one of the functions that drew me into being a Premium member. I also used it to take screenshots of my notes. The formatting in the Presentation mode gives a perfect appearance to screenshots. Now...it is all gone. Please give me back these functions that I care about and value. I need them. This app is losing its soul... Please give me a response or send me the older version!
Makes iPad useful input device for Windows PCs
by Rodger584 on 2018/07/26 14:50
Normally an iPad is used as a display device and sometimes as a controller. It can be used as a camera, but is usually too bulky. Using the notes feature, in conjunction with the editing features of the iPad camera system and the location detection, Evernote can create very useful documents that can be used on the PC. Management is enhanced by the ability to search for text or OCR images on the server. Forcing synchronization is also a useful management tool although I often have trouble with synchronization on the PC. The inability to control font size on the text entered on the iPad is still a problem. As new versions are released, the user interface seems to change, requiring retraining without any help. Additionally, the user interface on the various platforms appears to becoming so different that it interferes with interoperability.
So incredibly SLOW on iPhone X! + privacy concerns
by Noguilt on 2018/11/08 20:09
I am a long-time Premium user, and rely heavily on Evernote. currently, I am using it on an iPhone X with 256GB memory. I use the option to keep my notebooks downloaded to my iPhone. Nonetheless, Evernote has become SO INCREDIBLY SLOW THAT IT INTERFERES WITH MY WORKFLOW. Slow to find notes, and in the meantime it displays a misleading message “No results found for “_____” – as if the search had been completed, with no results found. If you wait long enough, the results appear. Adding a tag is so slow that you repeatedly add it, without it appearing with the other tags. You have to just sit back and have a few sips of tea, and hope that it will appear eventually. Even a newly created short note takes forever to load! For anyone else who is struggling with the slowness problem: The solution is to delete and re-install Evernote every month or so. But for a power user with 1000s of notes, that takes a long time, and it should not be necessary!!! Also, after re-installing, you have to re-create your settings, like to download all notes (which, oddly, is not the default). I am finding that I am using Bear and Pendo instead of Evernote, more and more, just because both of them are SO much faster than Evernote. Also, I am deeply concerned about the privacy policy. I won't feel comfortable using Evernote unless the company announces a privacy policy that STRONGLY protects their customers.
Latest November Update is Terrible. WHY did you move & hide things?
by Luvay33 on 2019/12/12 20:31
Everything is moved around and certain text options are now hidden, which makes it harder to get to. The new design took away the ability to QUICKLY and seamlessly type and format text. Now you have to dig to locate the things like the Indent button. I hate that I updated, but my stupid app kept crashing, now I have a bigger problem. Also, what’s with the RETURN button function? When I press “Return” (attempting to go to the next line), it does a “shift return” function instead of giving me a new paragraph line. It’s so annoying and inconvenient, especially when using bullet lists. Sadly, I’ll use something else until they revert back to the previous version, or change things around to make it simple again. Don’t try to fix things that weren’t broken. Smh. And where’s the option to make it dark without having to turn my whole iPad to dark mode? The new look is just so complicated. Disappointing update.
Really pushing their premium service.
by hawaiianpunchout on 2019/03/19 18:43
I switched to Evernote because I liked the UI and I wanted to keep my recipe book all in one place with a really nice tagging system so I can easily index all of the recipes. Evernote does this the best out of any service I’ve used before. UI and design is really important to me, so that’s what drew me to the program, and I can even quickly and easily import new recipes. However, I’m on Basic, and as soon as I hit the image cap, the bright red ‘not syncing’ banner comes up on my recipes, and can’t be permanently dismissed. I can’t get rid of the red exclamation points in the corners of my notes, or prevent it from prompting me to update literally any time I open a note. This is incredibly annoying and ruins the entire purpose of switching for me. If they stop pushing their premium service so hard onto people who really only need Basic, this review will be changed to 5 stars.
Disappearing notes and no support
by illustrator31200000 on 2018/06/12 16:38
I was an Evernote user for about 4 years and found it to be well designed, reliable, and useful for my daily note taking needs at work. Earlier this year, the app became buggier. I’m not sure if this instability coincided with a new version or what happened exactly, but my notes started to disappear into the void. I would take notes in a meeting and once I was back at my desk moments later, discover that everything I had just written was gone. It didn’t happen EVERY time, but it was frequent enough that I contacted support to see if there was anything that could be done about the issue. Support advised me that as a basic user, I did not qualify for support. After complaining to Evernote over Twitter, they told me they would open a helpdesk ticket, although this went no where. After an experience like this, any hope Evernote had of turning me into a subscriber is gone, and I’ve since deleted the app.
Happily Satisfied
by Warnerse on 2019/11/27 13:50
I use Evernote to haul around my crochet patterns in a mobile device. I used to print out pages of patterns and carry them in my craft bag, which is wasteful. But now I can purchase a pattern online, download and save to Evernote, and then sync the app so the pattern appears on my phone. My only complaint with Evernote is that the app does not stay open when the phone turns off. When you use the Pinterest app, for example, the phone stays on, presumably while cooking a recipe, so you don’t have to turn on the phone over and over again to look at the recipe. Even if the phone does turn off, when you turn it back on, the phone returns to the Pinterest app and the article you were using. Evernote does not stay open when the phone turns off. This would not be so irritating to me except that I also have to re-open the Evernote app and search for my note/pattern AGAIN. It’s like opening the app for the first time, over and over again. I can’t imagine using this app to take notes during a lecture, only to have the phone turn offwhe you are listening, and then have to turn on the phone again, open the app again, and search for the note you were just working on....again. First world problems, I know.
Catches my brain, holds it close
by QueenFoodie on 2019/10/20 13:02
I can’t live without Evernote. Almost literally. I use it for work and personal life. I still see my coworkers writing their to-do lists down, making fresh ones every time the lists get too crossed off. Darn fools. Evernote! I have it installed across all my devices. It’s genius. The shortcuts are crucial and keep me super organized (work to-do list, personal to-do list, grocery list, etc). And I’m able to share notes with coworkers so they too can benefit from the rough notes I caught during our endless meeting. EV Developers - two requests: 1. Spreadsheet in Evernote please! Not just the ability to insert a table. That’s clunky. 2. Subfolders / notebooks that can be within other notebooks. Would make me even more organized. Especially for work.
Doesn't remember your place!
by Morsel.info on 2019/12/21 23:15
I've been using Evernote extensively for many years and now have almost 800 notes stored in it. But recent releases have a major bug and I am now contemplating a move away from Evernote. What is the bug? It doesn't remember the note or my position in the note once the screen turns off or I temporarily switch to another app. Imagine surfing to a web page in your browser, switching to your email app, and going back into the browser. Instead of seeing the same page you were on, instead you see the default home page and are forced to navigate back to the one you were reading. If this happened I suspect a lot of people would start using another browser instead. Evernote now operates in much the same way. The most frustrating example is this: When using Evernote to View a stored recipe, if my iPhone or iPad happens to turn off, when I turn it back on, I will lose my place in the recipe. Sometimes I even just see a list of notebooks and need to search for the recipe again. It's far easier to screen shot the recipe and reference that instead. If I have to go to that level of effort to make this app work for me, it might be just as easy to simply ditch Evernote altogether and migrate to another app to store ALL my notes.
Very angry
by Hbgvfgbh on 2019/01/03 20:11
I recently got a new iPhone. I was rather surprised when I logged in on my new device. A screen pops up telling me I have to sign up for a 7.99 monthly subscription to get my things. I am unable to get passed that screen. I looked in help and found the plan comparisons - would have been much more helpful if the prices would have been listed along with the features- dahhhhh. I have been to both the app support page and the developer web site and no where am I able to find somewhere to actually send an email. All you get are a bunch of drop down screens to choose your issue. After all that, it asks if this was helpful. Guess what, I clicked no it wasn’t. Nothing happens. Would have been nice if it would have finally given me a way to contact support. If they options are available to get an email out and get a direct response from a living person, tell me where the link is hidden and buried. Maybe Sasquatch has it. No one can find him either
The update I've been waiting for.
by waselreins on 2017/08/16 01:56
For the past few weeks I noticed that Evernote was pretty buggy. Lots of notes synced incorrectly and some became duplicates of each other while deleting the other note. When I finally reached out to customer support, I was impressed with how hard they tried to fix the problem for me. They emailed back and forth to make sure that everything was back to normal and told me that they were aware of the problem and were working on finding a solution. Then came this update. I was worried, cause we had quite a bit of problems with Evernote lately. But I have to say that this update is running really smoothly. You guys that said that the update won't open, maybe you need to either upgrade your iOS or delete your app and re download it. It works perfectly for me, and it's a lot faster without the lag and freezing that I was experiencing the past few weeks. A few things that I'd like to suggest though: 1. Calendar view to search notes based on dates quickly 2. Please bring back search by location 3. Please bring back cards view Other than that, I'm a happy Premium customer. Great job, Evernote!

Great app

Downgraded to Basic Plan...

Hard to Print

My go-to app

Fantastic tool for keeping EVERYTHING I need.

No undo?!
by ebejdvsodjdkdjwdgafshxj on 2020/03/26 07:48
You can not undo it on your iPhone! Once you hit something wrong, all your notes will be gone! Unless you pay for it, they will make you to check the history. WTH!

Don’t know why I haven’t posted a review before lol
by killthechameleon on 2020/03/24 21:22
Been using Evernote since I was about 12. THANK YOU!
Fix picture insert bug

On iPad , There’s a bug that causes app to freeze when you try to add a pic from Photos App. I have latest iOS and Evernote. Love the app, use constantly for everything, have used for years. Please fix this.

Best in class. But.

I love Evernote. It has everything perfect except this bulky app. Thee moment you switch your app and come back it refreshes the page that is really annoying. This makes me to think that this app is really bulky. Kindly make it responsive.
notice to apple app store
by geniuslibra on 2020/03/22 04:38
I noticed that when I searched Evernote in the App Store first their Ad pops up then underneath that is their app which is already the first app on the page.

Staple app! Must have.
by R Shelley on 2020/03/02 19:42
I’ve had this app for years.
