Undo button request, pretty please
by LJ Coco on 2019/02/21 09:12
I have been using this app since forever, I love it, it’s quite practical. One thing, I would love for it to have is an undo button, as you misclick and every or a fraction of very important information might be lost forever. Thank you in advance.
Keeps crashing
by ngarre on 2019/02/20 22:15
Keeps crashing on pc since update. Then i have to reinstall. iPad version isnt robust enough to use alone. This is so frustrating. Once crashed on both work and home pc. I had just decided to stick with evernote. No this.
Room for improvement
by Liv911 on 2019/02/20 18:04
And I mean a *lot* of room. There are a lot of great templates (calendars, lists, etc.) that you can add to your notes....but you can’t add them once you’ve already started the note. Even if you delete everything and are starting fresh. If you do use a template, there is no way to edit the formatting. If you want to create your own table, you’re out of luck. There are instructions in advanced settings to do this, but it doesn’t work. Creating lists is easy, though slow, and organization was easy. I’m seriously underwhelmed, especially for such a highly rated app.
PLEASE ADD STRIKETHROUGH
by lady foxtrot on 2019/02/20 07:17
I use strikethrough for things I didn’t accomplish, not as a check list. So I would appreciate adding the feature as it helps me see where I need to improve. Please add it back.
Unusable after downgrading from paid to free
by bender_unit on 2019/02/19 20:45
I wasn’t really making use of my premium plan, so I downgraded the the free plan recently after getting rid of my iPad. But for some reason, Evernote won’t forget about it. Now, every time I open the app, I get prompted to unsync a device or upgrade to a paid plan. I choose “unsync” and select the old device to delete, but two seconds later, I get the same prompt again — and the old device is still there. This renders the app effectively unusable, and what’s more, feels like extortion to me. I can’t even access the data I’ve stored in it, since this prompt is preventing me from ever interacting with the actual app. Same happens in the desktop app on my Mac BTW. This is very annoying. Would give it 0 stars if I could. I know this sounds like I’m complaining about something that’s free, but I’ve been a paying customer for YEARS before recently deciding to downgrade, and now they are holding my data hostage. Very unethical business model, best to stay far away from this company.
My review
by Damond Goggins Jr on 2019/02/19 18:51
This app is amazing! I have been using it for my studying notes, Login info, and more. I ADVISE anyone and everyone to use this app if you are like me, and NEED this in order!
Needs updates
by Randen Montalvo on 2019/02/18 14:52
I love Evernote but we need a huge update to Spaces, Workchat ,Apple Pencil support and the Apple Watch app all the todo list needs updating. Evernote hasn’t updated penultimate in nearly 2 years. I’m getting worried that if Dark Mode is considered a update we are in for dire straights as users when the forums are yelling for new features and fixes.
Getting ready to jump ship
by sezduck on 2019/02/17 21:57
Update 2-27-19: I’m ready to leave Evernote. I’m noticing an increasing number of bugs in the iOS & Mac apps. The new web interface is slick but missing core functionality. I understand it’s in Beta, but I’m paying for a functional, working product. Trying Bear for now. My experience with Bear so far: - Cleaner, faster, less buggy UI - Awesome tag & sub-tag system that beats EN’s stacks, notebooks, & tags. - Web clipping superior to Evernote (via Chrome & iOS extensions) - Far less expensive - Ability to pin a note to the top - Markdown & superior all around formatting Evernote’s promise to fix issues in 2019 may be too little, too late. Previous review: I've been a loyal Evernote user for years, and I've been a paid subscriber. Evernote has features that I love, such as web clipping, mail to Evernote, and Scannable integration. There are 3 reasons that I have been considering switching to a new notes app. 1. Bugs with the iOS & Mac apps 2. Price. I'll gladly pay for a valuable product. But Evernote's three-tier plan is a bit much. I want some of the pro features (business card scanning & searching PDFs) but the cost is too high. As a result, I settle for the plus version and miss out on some features. 3. Clumsy UI needs improvement I just renewed my yearly subscription. Evernote’s CEO had made a promise to spend 2019 fixing Evernote. I hope it’s significantly better by the time I’m up for renewal again. If not, I’ll probably switch. A few additional new features that I’d like to see: The ability to custom sort notes in a notebook - and pin a note to the top. The ability to create sub-notes under existing notes (like in OneNote) Improved widget functionality. E.g. the option to display custom notes or notebooks from the widget.
Turned into garbage - migrating out
by JMcNifty on 2019/02/17 01:41
So tired of logging in and having to unsync my phone every few days. I feel like it’s a deliberate bug to try and force me to upgrade. I’ve used Evernote for years but the slimy auto-renew being reported, the lack of new features and crappy software just indicates a company increasingly desperate but not willing to spend resources to make it a product that’s competitive and worth buying. Don’t let them hold your data hostage.
Love Evernote, but not the iOS version
by Vinnyminchillo on 2019/02/15 14:07
Can’t live without Evernote, but the iOS version is confusing and clunky. Wish it worked more like the desktop version. It’s very difficult to bounce back and forth between devices.
Uploads Duplicate Notes
by voice__of__reason on 2019/02/14 22:21
Evernote still uploads some notes in duplicate. Duplicate files are very common and use up the users data limit. The free service offers a mere 60MB per month. Switch to an alternative service while you still can. Also, convert webpages that you want to save to Evernote as PDFs using iOS print. This way when you inevitably jump ship you won’t have conversion issues. If you’re planning on syncing notes with a PC be ready to get to know the spinning wait symbol. The PC version is very slow. Maybe a new name is in order. Maybe,,, Everwait? 2/14/19 v8.17.3
Good, but a little buggy
by Reluctant Speculator on 2019/02/14 13:17
This is a great product idea and it's mostly well executed. However they release with significant bugs and splatter new features into the releases that changes one's workflow. Seems like a problem in the software department (I use to be a software engineer).

Developer Has No Integrity
by Sparky6015378 on 2019/02/13 04:28
I received a one day that my subscription was going to auto renew. I tried to cancel my subscription before it renewed but was unsuccessful. The app auto renewed and low and behold I was able to go in and cancel my subscription but only after they stole 34.99 from my credit card. I sent a dispute of the charge to the EverNote people and received a reply that “I did not qualify for a refund” DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS USELESS APP UNLESS YOU EANT YOUR MONEY STOLEN!!!!
Constantly freezes
by Sagej11 on 2019/02/12 13:20
I have to force quit the app over and over again because it freezes immediately upon opening. Makes the app pretty worthless.
Best journal app

Best journal, personal note and memo app. Easy to search and organize.
Should not be a subscription
by J0HNBLAZE on 2019/02/11 03:03
This should be a one time purchase, not a subscription. Also, the free version should work on more than two types of devices.
10+years as paid user. Why I’m leaving.
by dpriceva on 2019/02/10 19:10
After 10+ years, I'm walking away from Evernote. Here's why. 1. The UI hasn't kept pace. It's ugly, cluttered, and critical functionality like swipe to delete isn't there. 2. Saving articles to Evernote takes forever. Compare to Google Keep where saving only takes 1 second. 3. It's expensive. Keep is free. Not sure why anyone would pay for less functionality and ugly!
Just lost a days work
by IAmRobott on 2019/02/09 22:49
I super hate the sync feature. There’s nothing worse than when you’re typing all day, you accidentally delete your work, and Evernote freaking syncs it for you.
Needs Printing & Cohesive Fonts
by Skeeter42 on 2019/02/09 00:31
Where, oh where have the abilities to print from mobile devices and to change fonts gone? We have had these abilities with previous Evernote versions, and they seem to be tools that most users use often, especially the ability to change fonts. I have the paid premium version, but recently I have gone back to either the notes version on Apple devices, or the Microsoft Office Word app, both of which support printing and changing fonts. I do not think that I will continue with Evernote at the end of my subscription if these are not fixed, as they are core needs for me.
Constantly Freezes on Me
by brandon_owow on 2019/02/08 17:20

Awful, aggressive app.
by arthurofbabylon on 2019/02/08 16:53
Evernote is poorly designed and creepy. They have too many features. I don’t want my notes experience to feel like a nuclear console, where I am afraid to press any buttons lest something explode. It’s hard to find the features I want because so many unwanted features are aggressively pushed. Many of those features that are pushed hard strike me as opportunities for Evernote - not opportunities for me, the note-taker. For example, they lean into web URLs for content and services when the same content and services could be delivered right there, in app. Here’s what pushed me over the edge to write this review: Evernote went out of their way to make it difficult to share notes with other apps. Forgive my feelings of entitlement, but this is my notebook. If I want to share the content of a note, that should be as easy as it is in, for example the Notes app. The sad reality that Evernote took such an antagonistic approach to keeping the note-taker stuck in their poorly designed app should have been obvious from the beginning: it’s the quality they named their product after.
It’s not working
by Miley1620 on 2019/02/08 02:58
I loved this app but after the last update it wont even let me get in! Just a blank white screen titled “devices”! Pls fix it
Very Slow
by MassSantiago on 2019/02/07 14:26
New and existing notes are now very slow to load since the last several updates. If I want to capture something quickly I have to use Apple Notes then later copy/paste to Evernote.
LinkedIn is a Problem
by pepperhead331 on 2019/02/07 00:13
Great app for storing business contacts, but it is painfully difficult to connect someone’s LinkedIn profile to a stored business card. This should be seamless. Sometimes the option to connect on LinkedIn pops up when a card is scanned, and sometimes not - and it’s impossible to link a business card with a LinkedIn profile once a card is scanned and a file is created. You guys really need to fix this!
Taking forever to sync my notes
by Fakespot0937 on 2019/02/06 22:41
Made few changes in a big note on my computer. My iPad is taking ages to sync those notes.
Used to be ok...
by Beyond_My_Ken on 2019/02/06 22:17
This app used to be ok. But now they changed it so that if you try to place the cursor to insert something, it immediately jumps to the bottom of all existing text. Occasionally at random, it doesn’t do this and then you get to edit. So unless you’re someone who never edits or changes a note, I’d look for another app.
Evernote
by imscottb on 2019/02/06 11:34
Amazing! I use Evernote DAILY, and when it works, it's great. When there's a problem I'm soooooooooo frustrated, but thankful to be a premium user to get the support to get the issue resolved fast! I'm ever amazed by what Evernote does and can do. It's no wonder it is THE BEST!
Not good
by etherworld on 2019/02/06 02:10
This service used to be great until they decided to make you pay to see your notes in more than one device. Ridiculous. I’ll be switching to a better service.
Slow. Otherwise very nice.
by zenbrent on 2019/02/06 02:09
The only thing that keeps me from using Evernote for everything is performance. It takes several seconds to start up, and will always go to the top of the note when it loads. Not a big deal unless I’m using Evernote for my grocery list and have to wait 10 seconds every third item, or I’m taking notes in a dance class, trying to look something up in a meeting, or I’m flipping back & forth between Evernote & kindle. In those situations it’s frustrating. Otherwise it’s great! Lol
About copy and cut
by yuqing_1109 on 2019/02/05 10:54
I love this APP and have been using it for over five years. But I have a question: When I want to cut and paste some content, the ”cut” option won’t show until the second time I select the content. Only ”copy” will show at the first time.
Slooooooooow. Evernote take for...EVER
by Max Chavelev on 2019/02/05 02:45
A note app should be instantaneous. Instead we have Evernote. Starting a new note is a process that can take up to 5 seconds, that’s more than it would have taken me to finish the note... I don’t know what to say
Plus plan was renewed after some issues
by andrejic89 on 2019/02/04 23:30
I changed my rating because Plus plan was renewed after some issues I had with renewal. I hope that Plus will be available next time for old users because I upgraded from Basic to Plus just to remove two devices limitation. Premium is overpriced and extra features you get are useless for me.
Paragraph Spacing & Lack of Customer Support
by Nell😊 on 2019/02/03 11:46
I have been using this app for many many many years and as great as it is, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING WRONG! Right now the NEWEST issue is paragraph spacing. I write what I need to with the correct spacing and save it like always. When I go back to edit or review instead of nicely formatted paragraphs I have one giant blob of thousands of words. So, of course I go in and spend time separating them again however, I’ve given up doing that because after I save it and go back to it the blob is back. So I haven’t been using the app and I will probably switch over to something else ESPECIALLY SINCE CUSTOMER SUPPORT ISN'T AVAILABLE TO PEOPLE WHO USE IT FOR FREE.
Crashes on IPad Pro
by areyoukiddingme56 on 2019/02/03 07:30

Poor service, inferior product
by Casa Bravo on 2019/02/01 13:04
Unfortunately, a great idea, and when first developed, an equally great product, has not kept up with the times. Not sure why they have fallen off the quality radar. When you have a problem, the ‘help’ function does everything it can to reroute you back into the FAQ rotation. It is impossible to ask a question. The browser version has more bugs than an empty can on a New York City sidewalk. If you are saving articles, I would use Pocket. If you are a writer, as I am, try Scribner. There are better waYS.
Why was it necessary to change the icon?
by Nysal on 2019/02/01 01:48
I love the app, but why did you need to change the icon on my phone. For years I have found it instantly by its color. I just don't understand the need to make ridiculous changes like this. Please stop.
virtually unusable
by mzercher on 2019/01/31 21:11
I’m a long time, paying Evernote user now thinking about switching to another solution because the iPhone app is so bad. Creating notes is almost impossible because the app is so slow and unresponsive. Instead I email notes to my account. The app doesn’t refresh in the background, despite having that setting turned on. This makes finding notes almost impossible because I open the app so infrequently, so I have to wait for everything to download when I do open it. Overall, it’s probably the worst app on my phone, but somehow the desktop versions mostly work fine (although those are slow too). Probably just time to walk away from Evernote entirely.
Essentialism: The ONE thing
by KMac012 on 2019/01/31 18:23
I co run a startup have just under 100 apps on my phone and am OCD organized. If I could only use ONE app and all others had to be deleted. I would hands down pick Evernote. It’s true power is only there if you go ALL in and put everything in there. If you continue to let things be distributed among 14 other place you “won’t get Evernote” or why people are such die hard fans.
Stuck on a blank screen:(
by Venturousspt on 2019/01/31 00:17
A few weeks ago I tried to log into my account and got stuck on a blank screen with the word Devices at the top of the page. It initially flashes a screenshot of my account and then will immediately go to the blank screen. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get my account to go back to normal but nothing works. Has anyone had this problem? I am using the Evernote app for iPad. I have never had this problem before. I think whatever change they made to their app recently does not agree with my iPad. I don’t know?? Help!
Make it compatible with ipencil
by starsong1 on 2019/01/30 15:30
I’ve been using Evernote since it was first introduced and have found it very useful for helping to keep my life organized. I am disappointed that it hasn’t added compatibility with the ipencil yet. My creative side longing for a handwritten journal would really be satisfied and grateful. Add a lined journal template also and then I’ll really be excited!
Evernote is my 2nd brain
by GabbyJay79 on 2019/01/30 15:22
My actual brain is forgetful. So Evernote is like a brain that never forgets. I am also a follower of David Allen’s GTD system, and Evernote supports the system perfectly.
You Will Regret It!
by JigHoz on 2019/01/30 15:14
I wish I could give a -10 stars or more! This application is free to download, that is correct. HOWEVER, once they do an update AND you are NOT a paying customer, YOU WILL LOSE DATA. There is NO support ftom them (oh UNLESS you pay). Shows what kind of company they are. I lost important information and NO WAY TO GET IT BACK. Oh and they don’t say that. NO WARNING-DATA LOST!!!!
Stop to upgrade!
by m7467689 on 2019/01/29 20:46
It was the best app before. But you upgraded it and now it’s horrible! Please return as it was!
Mostly works, but syncing is unreliable
by lilmissboyscout on 2019/01/29 17:21
I’m happy with Evernote most of the time, but when Evernote syncing fails, it’s incredible frustrating. I have been using Evernote since 2014. Most of the time, it works great, but oftentimes (and seemingly random), when I input information into the mobile app, it won’t sync with the web app, and when I open the web app, all the information is gone. It reverts back to the prior version and there’s no way to get it back or view past versions. I have written a lot of information at times that cannot be replicated, and randomly it’s just gone. I have experienced this issue since 2016, so I have started backing up everything into Google Drive. I would never use Evernote to store anything that really mattered and am considering discontinuing my use of this app, since having to back up all the information that’s supposed to sync properly the first time around is a waste of time.
Hackable or intentionally insecure.
by Amasagou on 2019/01/29 14:24
I found a device on my device list that I didn’t own. So if your notes are private and important, you better not use this open book. Customer service doesn’t exist.

Great app
by Blazae23 on 2019/01/28 02:02
I’ve been using app for about two yeas now and it works well for my basic needs. Happy with my customer service experience as well. I reached out on a Saturday night for account access issues and they (Jeffery) replied to me within 24 hours of my request. I should add that I’m not a premium user.

doesnt even open on ipad
by celestialcephalopoda on 2019/01/27 07:52
I've been using this app for years on my iphone and laptop, but sad to say the quality of customer care (nonexistent) and app development is in deep decline. It also seems that ipads have been completely neglected in the process, because I am left on a loading screen indefinitely when trying to log into my account. come on you guys. you're better than this!
Continues to disappoint
by BlkWolf12 on 2019/01/26 01:12
Used to love Evernote, my #1 app! Probably one of the first downloads ever in iOS but over the years it continues to disappoint. First, I can only use 2 devices at a time, unless I buy Premium. Next, Plus goes away and I must buy Premium. Finally, support options go away unless I wait around all day and night for a Twitter troubleshooting, which is just tacky. If Evernote insists on us buying their services when Basic membership offers all the features needed but taking away more and more basic functions while the price continues to climb, it shows that Evernote is going to continue to decline which is a complete shame.
What happened?
by NaturReal on 2019/01/26 00:25
The load time for simple notes have increased significantly. I love this app for all that it offers but why am I waiting to load items on a notepad that I don’t have anything on but regular text? Sometimes it even crashes in between.
ehh
by AlanHughes on 2019/01/25 02:42
Spell check is a really nice feature. But if you plan to introduce it anytime soon, just don't do what Apple did with Pages and immediately mark every word misspelled as soon as you type two letters. And the last 6 months or so it has had this really bad problem where if you want to type or correct something near the top of a note, when you press that point, the app refuses and scrolls you all the way to the bottom of the page. You can try this over and over again but it will never let you work on anything at the top, you have to close the note and re-open it. Then it will let you. But it is only a matter of time before it will do this again.
For $60+ it should track the Apple Pencil better
by Twiggy90913 on 2019/01/24 22:25
Writing notes on PDFs was why I bought the premium version but the way this app tracks the Apple Pencil is abysmal. You can barely read the writing. I’m back to using markup, which is Free on most apple products, most of the time which is just ridiculous. And if you don’t save your highlights and notes and the app crashes... which is often... boo for you. Still nice to have all my homework in the cloud and synced between devices. Syncing could be more seamless but I got into a rhythm of saving and adding new stuff that seemed to work between two devices.

by USlims1 on 2019/01/24 06:56

Jury still out
by CWThomas on 2019/01/24 02:29
Update: something glitchy here. Earlier app would not search, now it will. Hope the problem below was some sort of one-off issue that never manifests itself again. App will not search notes. I know the notes are there, but app will not search by keyword. Since this used to be a feature of the app, it’s absence is now a MAJOR fault. Renders the app pretty close to useless. Not going to scroll through all my notes HOPING I stumbled across the one I’m looking for. If this is a new feature in a recent update it’s a bust.

SHOULD HAVE A BETTER UI/UX
by Ridvan Ali on 2019/01/21 10:26
Most things are fine, but that huge add button (green circle) that sticks out looks awkward. Maybe make it a tab like the other icons. And the option to upload a photo as our profile pic would be nice as well. Not a fan of the replacement image you guys use when there is no assigned profile pic. It's just a weird looking letter. You guys should change that to a default icon pic, like a grey cartoon portrait.
Updated: Evernote > Solid app

1/20/2019: Finally following up on my original review. Fixed (5 stars) 7/15/2018: I like the app but one thing I have been waiting for for a little while now is the autocapitalization after a line break. Seems to be broken. I’ll give another star to see it fixed. Here’s hoping🤞🏼(4 stars)

Great App: the best way to use Evernote
by Eukeryote on 2019/01/18 12:19
This app is the best way to use Evernote. Far better than in a browser. Plus the Apple Watch app is very usable, unlike some other big name apps. Need to view recent notes on your watch? Check! Need to jot a quick note to Evernote on the Watch? Check! I find that Evernote on my iPad in particular is the very best interface for Evernote, and I’m a long-time Evernote user. Evernote in general rocks.
Basic but deceiving
by ForrealTho? on 2019/01/18 02:41
I don’t know if a recent update brought more bugs, but I am tired of using this app. It seems universal and like it will complete your productivity flow, but with such basic things as copy and pasting issues, I am disappointed. Might as well just pay for more iCloud storage. Went to report the bug in app, hoping for help, and it made the process just as difficult. Getting my stuff transferred ASAP.
Spam in a can
by goth pop on 2019/01/17 17:19
Are used to use Evernote 7 years ago when it was very basic now it’s cluttered pop-ups, ads and offers for tee trials and in-app purchases. They’re basic version serves as a billboard for what the paid version can do.
No longer functions
by ImpolaP on 2019/01/17 14:04
Since the last update, Evernote has become unusable. After about 2 seconds, it switches from my notes to a screen labeled “Devices”, which is otherwise completely blank. At that point, all I can do is force quit the app.
Used to be a great app

10 year pro account disappointed user
by PN282 on 2019/01/17 04:41
Have been a premium paying customer for 10 years. Recent updates made the app slow. I click on the “+” button to create a new note and app just freezes. Will not be renewing because developers don’t have a good QA process before release. Have iPhone XS Max 256GB. Should not be this bad. Looking elsewhere, help!
Good but not great
by aussken on 2019/01/17 03:25
It’s great for taking notes and I love the writing portion of the app more than any other not taking app, but if you don’t hit the done button when you finish writing something and you just turn your screen off and put it in your backpack when you go to look for the notes later they won’t be there. I’ve lost so many notes for my calc class that I’m starting to get behind in the class.

Not at all happy anymore
by Martyttt on 2019/01/15 20:48
I’ve been a premium customer for years using Evernote primarily on my iPad. Web clipping, however is almost not possible anymore because the clipping is so bad. Parts of the webpage go missing in transition from any browser on my iPad Pro (safari, chrome) to Evernote. Pages that look great in the browser show up one inch in width streicht downward forever in Evernote. The main use of this app for me is indeed web clipping. I don’t get why they are not fixing these obvious issues (many customers complain). Will definitely be on the lookout for an alternative.
Evernote has slowed down...
by OmnifocusNOT on 2019/01/14 00:26
I loved this app. I put so many important things into it and came to rely one it. But ever since the latest iOS update, it app has become slow and lethargic on my iPhone XS Max. I waited for an update to the app, but that didn’t fix it. This is really too bad. I hope they can fix it soon. Every other app is super fast.
Love it, but 1 request
by R10.R on 2019/01/13 19:19
S app is very awesome and I love it as I have used Evernote on my Mac for multiple years. However, I would very much like to see the written notes area be scrollable and not fixed. Such a feature would make it more similar to the notes function of the Notes app that is preinstalled on all iOS devices. Making it scrollable would greatly benefit the functionality of Evernote by allowing written notes of a lengthy nature to be made. Thank you!

No longer a “Life changing App”
by Symahm on 2019/01/12 20:00
Jan 2019 update: I am a paying annual customer. Over the last few months the App would not open some of my notes. When I reached out to Evernote they had no solution other than saying an update is expected. This update did not come for a few weeks. In the meanwhile I have moved to Microsoft OneNote and love it. Don’t really use EverNote anymore. ====== Life Chaining App: I use this app to summarize journals... Keep recipies, to do lists, basically everything. The search function needs to improve as it often won't pick up things.
Gotten frustrating
by Jbeckha2 on 2019/01/12 16:02
I used to love Evernote, now it just feels really buggy and frustrating. There’s a known bug where it loses your handwritten/sketched notes if you forget to hit save before switching to another app. It often freezes for a few seconds and just overall feels less solid than it used to. I find myself not trusting it to keep my notes safe. :(

by LoverofJesus on 2019/01/12 03:52
Love the notes search feature. No app is anywhere near as good. That I’ve tried anyway. Does the work great. My only complaints are Note taking with stylus’s is not as enjoyable as I would like. The format for the page isn’t great. It’s clearly not designed for lots of handwriting. Also the app icon redesign I don’t like as much and the interface. Overall I like Evernote. I would change my review once these things are adjusted.

Test before releasing updates
by Thewarmachine1 on 2019/01/11 15:53
More than any other app I use, Evernote seems to consistently have such basic, obvious bugs that simple testing would find before releasing. With the current update- when I scroll to the bottom of a note and then let go, it auto scrolls up so I can’t see the bottom of the note unless I hold my finger down and scroll up. This is so absurdly obvious and basic; I’m continually blown away by the lack of ability for Evernote’s team to catch bugs like this. Been using Evernote for many years and I have almost 15,000 notes...it’s simple oversights like this that keep Evernote from being perfect.
Each Mote, Why swipe left TWICE to delete!?
by RollerBand on 2019/01/11 11:10

Prompted to enter my iTunes password all the time now, lame. I don't have to, but it's a weird prompt. Can hardly believe I'm limited to two devices for a paid app (not subscription). I'm looking for another sync software: Notes, Keep, and Note Book are being evaluated presently. Looking forward to testing Milanote next week. Evernote is losing me. It has been so long and major bugs remain. For example, you still can’t paste bullets from evernote into MS outlook without a total mess. Really guys? Come back in - the water is fine
by PusIsMyLife on 2017/12/04 03:02
Having been a long time and premium user of Evernote (since Oct 2011) with thousands of notes, I was as frustrated as everybody else when version 8 came out at the first of 2017 and everything was slow and broken. I’d search for a word that I KNEW was in the title of at least a dozen notes but it would slowly grind away then come back with no notes found. I even sent info and screenshots to support to no avail. The pain of version 8 was excruciating. My entire life is in Evernote - medical notes, call schedules, everything. I checked out other options but none had a decent web clipper so the pain of transferring all my notes wasn’t worth it. Fortunately, I had saved a copy of version 7 so just went back to using that. Until last month when the version 7 web clipper stopped working. Reluctantly, I updated to the latest version and - surprise! - everything is great again - just like version 7!! (Except for being able to go directly to a note by first letter of title —- PLEASE PUT BACK THE ALPHABET DOWN THE SIDE!!). I’m definitely not thrilled at the pricing structure, but I am ecstatic that I can keep track of my life and continue to indulge my digital hoarding habit. If I find anything that is a significant problem, I will update this review. In the meantime - come on back! The water’s fine. Again.
Useful but imperfect
by DonPablo21 on 2018/11/21 13:50
This is still the best app for my needs, but it has plenty of annoying quirks. I've used Evernote for many years, with over 100 notes covering everything from the grocery list to future work plans to my son's college search. I find it helpful having access to all of these notes from my Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and being able to share certain notes with specific family members or colleagues. None of its competitors offers the same combination of selective note sharing, table creation and editing, and text formatting. Yet there are still quirks. Newly edited notes take a surprising amount of time to be saved, or must be saved manually - if you aren't careful about this and the note is later edited in another device, new versions of the note are created or sometimes appended to the end of the current note without warning you. Evernote on the Mac can change the font in notes, but not on iOS, and sometimes routine copy/pasting on iOS results in text with bizarre fonts that can't be fixed on that device. The use of Apple Data Detectors also means that anything Evernote thinks might be a phone number or calendar event is highlighted like a clickable link - I wish this could be turned off.
Customer Service
by Cocoleann on 2017/08/17 16:44
If you are looking for a company that has accessible customer service, look elsewhere. For many people, we don't realize how important customer service is until we are in a dire pickle, but, let me be the one to tell you, it is VERY important to have the option to speak with someone during those times of need. Evernote, on the other hand, doesn't seem to believe in customer accessibility or satisfaction. When having an issue with my billing account, I attempted to call the customer service number given on my bank statement only to be transferred to a voicemail telling me to leave my email address. The only form of communication they offer is through email or online chat. While that is great for younger people, there are other generations who would prefer speaking with an actual person to help deescalate the issue before it gets out of hand. It is also in their policy to not give refunds. My experience today was joining an online chat, being told there was nothing they could do for the extra $64 in charges they cost me, and to have a great day. I will be checking to make sure that the companies I choose to give my business to have a phone number I can call from now on to know they actually care about their customers. It also says something about a site that has almost as many 1 stars as 5 stars. Thanks for nothing, Evernote.
Lost photos I uploaded for recipes
by Turkey Sandwiches on 2018/01/06 19:23
I used to love Evernote until today. I bragged to all of my friends how great Evernote. I use it for many things including as a recipe storage. I am using Evernote basic. However, today the App lost 2 of my recipes. I’m very frustrated. I had a special pasta recipe I was going to make with my son. I saw the photo of the recipe on my phone and when I clicked on it and opened it up the photo disappeared. I can’t seem to get it back in any way. I think this is a terrible thing to have happened. I tried to organize my recipes electronically and pitched the hard copies. Now I have lost that recipe and another. I clicked on another recipe from the app and that photo disappeared as I opened it. I think I took these photos in 2015. The app worked fine for a recipe photo I took in 2017 this morning but it losing older photos. This is unacceptable. I stopped opening recipe notes and went to the webpage on my Mac to open other recipes and the browser version worked fine with the other pasta recipes I added the same day. But now I have wasted an hour trying to no avail to restore the image. Because I’m a basic user, I’m not even able to email customer support. The app appears to be garbage right now if it loses photos while the web browser does not. I’m so disappointed.
It’s a great tool
by doxzero on 2018/10/15 09:11
It’s a great tool for various different reasons. I think an interesting set of features would be a kind of automation, e.g., the ability to set up conditions so if I write certain words the note is added to certain folders or has certain reminders set to it or maybe even triggers a notification to specific people, etc. Also, something I think should be implemented is title caps in .… well, the TITLES of notes. Why is that not a thing? Or at least a toggleable setting? Lastly, why is it that the icon badge notification number is not at all connected to the actual trigger of the notification. I should open the app and it should be totally clear what the notification number is referring to, whether it’s reminders or updates or whatever. The user is just left adrift once he taps on the icon and then has no clue what triggered the notification. It’s just plain bad UX and your UX folks should really be talked to about that because it’s rather fundamental stuff they are missing.
No customer service
by SoonerAce on 2017/10/05 15:47
So I've been using Evernote for over three years now and I really do love some of its features. However, two things really grind my gears. 1) When they changed to basic free accounts vs. paid upgrade accounts, we lost the ability to access on all devices as they limited basic users to two devices. I have it on my phone & laptop, so I can't have the app on my tablet. So I tried to access through the browser on my tablet and it wasn't "formatted" for that kind of access. Now it just forces you to the app store. Beyond irritating. 2) There's ZERO customer service. As a basic user, your only option is the user forum which has too many posts to read, and it's just users - not Evernote help desk. So how some rando user is supposed to answer my account-specific issue is beyond me. Not only that, but from what I see in the forums from paid users, Evernote takes weeks to respond to inquiries, if at all. So what's the point of upgrading to paid service? I don't understand how they run a successful user-based business without supporting the users. It's really disappointing because when functioning properly, it's a great product.
Evernote still the best for organizing and searching
by MikeInCarrolltonTexas on 2018/09/07 02:36
I have tried OneNote a few times to see if it was as good as Evernote. OneNote has good editing tools within a note, but seems to be lacking when comes to FINDING your notes. I like Evernote’s search ability - select one ore more tags or a notebook - and then search within that context. I like that you can see Evernote’s list of tags at a glance on the left - and then quickly see a list of those notes that have that tag. And when you put in a search string, Evernote instantly shows you a list of notes that match, along with the first few lines of the note - even if what you’re searching for is within an embedded image (or PDF file since I have Premium). This ability to quickly find what you’re looking for within a thousand notes is critical for me. I don’t think ON is a replacement for Evernote for me - because of this alone. I hope Evernote stays afloat for a long time to come!
Two problems to fix
by BlindInsight on 2018/08/26 20:12
When taking a note, there are many problems with Voiceover. First, when swiping to the right, sometimes it skips over the title field & other times it skips over the multi-line text field. When typing in the field, you can’t move by letter or word & have it affect where the cursor is located. When The keyboard is brought up from simply looking at a note, the cursor is somewhere in the middle of the text already in it. Unlike most text fields, double tapping on it does not move the cursor to the start or the end of the text field. You also cannot listen to the entire note when the keyboard is available. This makes creating & editing notes inaccessible to Voiceover. Sharing to Evernote takes a long time after entering text & choosing the folder. Once I hit save, a loading icon is shown while I have to wait for a long time to share it. If these problems are solved, I will be satisfied with Evernote. Until Evernote is Voiceover accessible, I will use another note taking app that is accessible.
Great app but they don’t know who they want
by @davessuccess on 2018/03/17 13:32
I keep getting ads about using Evernote business but I don’t want their service for business. I do use it for business but I don’t think they understand what I want as a business owner. I use it for myself, I don’t have a team, although I imagine I will at some point, I don’t think that this would even serve my team if I had one. there’s only one thing I want out of the premium service and that is being able to use the app on all my devices. That really should be a free service. It’s stupid the way you guys do it. It’s incredibly frustrating. I’ll make this easy for you Evernote. The only way I would pay a higher price for what you offer is if you provided mind mapping or flow charting in my note taking. There isn’t really a great option out there and it would allow me to see everything all at once. You guys should consider all the ways people can take notes and I think this would be the next frontier. You guys also could make it easier to make charts and graphs. I think those two things would be worth the price.
Font size issue.
by 1 & only bagel boy on 2018/09/30 19:18
Got this app after friends recommended it and I’m loving it. I’m more organized and productive already. Love the notebook layout and the cross platform from Windows to iPhone. But there’s an issue that reallllly bothers me. Font sizes aren’t consistent across the app on Windows 10 and the iPhone app. I ran a test to see what font sizes corresponds to small, medium, and large. Small on iPhone is 10 on Windows app. Medium is 14. Large is 18. Except something written in “small” on an iPhone, when viewed on a PC and compared to something written in 10 on the Windows app, the text originally written on Windows is larger than the text written on iPhone, despite them both being “10”. If I highlight the text from the iPhone and then select 10 again, it will grow ever so slightly to match the PC font size of 10. The opposite happens if I write something in 10 on PC and then view it on an iPhone and compare it to something written in “small.” What is written in “small” is larger than what was written in 10 on the PC. This is really frustrating because it results in inconsistencies throughout your notes. I know you guys care about organization, design, and consistency. So please fix this issue. Other than that, the app is great, would be 5 stars, but this is really frustrating. You can’t have an app meant for organization have something as basic as font size be inconsistent like this. Thanks for reading this feedback.
Overall still the Best Note App
by heathrulez on 2018/06/12 19:52
As someone who has been using Evernote for years, despite many hiccups, I still love this app overall. There are still a few annoying glitches for the iPad functionality though. For instance, when you’re typing in a note, and switch to another app and back to Evernote, the cursor often gets locked at the bottom of the note, and you have to click into another note and back into the one you were working on to get the cursor working correctly—Super annoying. The only other thing is that as you type a note, while you have ‘Show Body Text’ selected in ‘Note List Options,’ as you type in a note, the tile in the Notes List continues resizing as it syncs, even if the text you’re editing is far past what’s previewed in said tile. This can be solved by putting the note into full screen or turning off ‘Show Body Text’ but I prefer the settings that cause this glitch.
For old software, it’s surprisingly immature
by emmgee53 on 2017/12/27 04:05
I’ve used Evernote since it’s early days. Honestly I would have a hard time living without it. But it’s surprisingly quirky for such an old product. For example the iPhone, iPad, and PC versions seem like they came from different companies. I couldn’t tell you how to search via tag on my iPad but it’s simple on the PC. I started with Evernote on the Mac and recently switched to the PC. It was pretty different. Why? The editor is basic which is fine but it’s too basic. Creating tables is too hard. There should be more formatting options. And the dictionary is odd. Add something to the dictionary and the red underline doesn’t go away. And why doesnt the Windows version support touch screens? It’s a great concept. I love the web clipper. I’m glad to be able to access my notes on different devices. But I wish it worked more consistently across those devices. I wish I had more formatting options.
Disaster
by RachelRT on 2018/08/05 14:39
Not that the people who made this app care (customer service is nonexistent), but I’ve lost access to my entire account. I’ve been a diehard Evernote user for years, but it’s gotten ridiculous since 2017, and this is the last straw for me. As a student, I need a document service I can actually rely on, and I cannot rely on Evernote anymore. For those who are curious, I can’t use my account because it’s “on too many devices,” despite the fact that I’ve only ever used it on my phone and laptop. I should theoretically be able to fix this easily, but the device settings won’t load— anywhere. Not on my computer, my phone, or even in a web browser. Every time I open the app? It redirects me to the broken device settings page. There seems to be no way to retrieve my files. Troubleshooting has done nothing, customer service hasn’t helped. I’m pretty patient and I’ve never left a 1 Star review on anything before, but this is the umpteenth time I’ve had issues with Evernote. It was a great service in 2014– not so much anymore.
A Bit Frustrated
by tamig000 on 2018/01/08 14:47
I use this app all the time. It’s a way for my husband and I to share ideas about vacations and to-do lists. However, it recently stopped letting me sync. If you don’t sync and open a note that was updated by another user it “modifies” the note in the worst way. I also am not able to get notifications from the app anymore either, which is especially annoying when my husband is trying to chat with me through the app. So I thought I would reach out to customer service to troubleshoot beyond their recommendations on their site. Since I’m not a paying customer I cannot submit a ticket. This is especially frustrating. They are sending a message that their non-paying customers aren’t important. I don’t want to look for another app with similar functions, but I may be forced to if they can’t fix the bugs.
Bad Design Change
by LeviaEli on 2017/08/16 22:25
I used to love Evernote, having used it for a couple of years. I am a Premium member, and used it for school work and personal life...I used it for everything. I used it on my iPhone, iPad mini, iPad Pro, and MacBook Pro. But, I am very disappointed with the recent updates. Besides performance issues, my main concern is about the horrible design change, primarily the removal of two functions that I used on a regular basis. First, I am sad about the loss of the Card View option. Anyone with common sense on design and visual efficiency would know how convenient and fast the card view is for users. I can't believe that Evernote is willing to give up one of its most valuable characteristics just to follow the bad design of another popular note app. Card View is so important to me, especially on my iPads. It was so easy and fast for me to visually grasp all my notes. Now, it takes forever to scroll through the single line of notes. Evernote, where is your common sense and sense of design and efficiency? Second, I am sad about the loss of Presentation mode. That was one of the functions that drew me into being a Premium member. I also used it to take screenshots of my notes. The formatting in the Presentation mode gives a perfect appearance to screenshots. Now...it is all gone. Please give me back these functions that I care about and value. I need them. This app is losing its soul... Please give me a response or send me the older version!
Makes iPad useful input device for Windows PCs
by Rodger584 on 2018/07/26 14:50
Normally an iPad is used as a display device and sometimes as a controller. It can be used as a camera, but is usually too bulky. Using the notes feature, in conjunction with the editing features of the iPad camera system and the location detection, Evernote can create very useful documents that can be used on the PC. Management is enhanced by the ability to search for text or OCR images on the server. Forcing synchronization is also a useful management tool although I often have trouble with synchronization on the PC. The inability to control font size on the text entered on the iPad is still a problem. As new versions are released, the user interface seems to change, requiring retraining without any help. Additionally, the user interface on the various platforms appears to becoming so different that it interferes with interoperability.
So incredibly SLOW on iPhone X! + privacy concerns
by Noguilt on 2018/11/08 20:09
I am a long-time Premium user, and rely heavily on Evernote. currently, I am using it on an iPhone X with 256GB memory. I use the option to keep my notebooks downloaded to my iPhone. Nonetheless, Evernote has become SO INCREDIBLY SLOW THAT IT INTERFERES WITH MY WORKFLOW. Slow to find notes, and in the meantime it displays a misleading message “No results found for “_____” – as if the search had been completed, with no results found. If you wait long enough, the results appear. Adding a tag is so slow that you repeatedly add it, without it appearing with the other tags. You have to just sit back and have a few sips of tea, and hope that it will appear eventually. Even a newly created short note takes forever to load! For anyone else who is struggling with the slowness problem: The solution is to delete and re-install Evernote every month or so. But for a power user with 1000s of notes, that takes a long time, and it should not be necessary!!! Also, after re-installing, you have to re-create your settings, like to download all notes (which, oddly, is not the default). I am finding that I am using Bear and Pendo instead of Evernote, more and more, just because both of them are SO much faster than Evernote. Also, I am deeply concerned about the privacy policy. I won't feel comfortable using Evernote unless the company announces a privacy policy that STRONGLY protects their customers.
Disappearing notes and no support
by illustrator31200000 on 2018/06/12 16:38
I was an Evernote user for about 4 years and found it to be well designed, reliable, and useful for my daily note taking needs at work. Earlier this year, the app became buggier. I’m not sure if this instability coincided with a new version or what happened exactly, but my notes started to disappear into the void. I would take notes in a meeting and once I was back at my desk moments later, discover that everything I had just written was gone. It didn’t happen EVERY time, but it was frequent enough that I contacted support to see if there was anything that could be done about the issue. Support advised me that as a basic user, I did not qualify for support. After complaining to Evernote over Twitter, they told me they would open a helpdesk ticket, although this went no where. After an experience like this, any hope Evernote had of turning me into a subscriber is gone, and I’ve since deleted the app.
Very angry
by Hbgvfgbh on 2019/01/03 20:11
I recently got a new iPhone. I was rather surprised when I logged in on my new device. A screen pops up telling me I have to sign up for a 7.99 monthly subscription to get my things. I am unable to get passed that screen. I looked in help and found the plan comparisons - would have been much more helpful if the prices would have been listed along with the features- dahhhhh. I have been to both the app support page and the developer web site and no where am I able to find somewhere to actually send an email. All you get are a bunch of drop down screens to choose your issue. After all that, it asks if this was helpful. Guess what, I clicked no it wasn’t. Nothing happens. Would have been nice if it would have finally given me a way to contact support. If they options are available to get an email out and get a direct response from a living person, tell me where the link is hidden and buried. Maybe Sasquatch has it. No one can find him either
The update I've been waiting for.
by waselreins on 2017/08/16 01:56
For the past few weeks I noticed that Evernote was pretty buggy. Lots of notes synced incorrectly and some became duplicates of each other while deleting the other note. When I finally reached out to customer support, I was impressed with how hard they tried to fix the problem for me. They emailed back and forth to make sure that everything was back to normal and told me that they were aware of the problem and were working on finding a solution. Then came this update. I was worried, cause we had quite a bit of problems with Evernote lately. But I have to say that this update is running really smoothly. You guys that said that the update won't open, maybe you need to either upgrade your iOS or delete your app and re download it. It works perfectly for me, and it's a lot faster without the lag and freezing that I was experiencing the past few weeks. A few things that I'd like to suggest though: 1. Calendar view to search notes based on dates quickly 2. Please bring back search by location 3. Please bring back cards view Other than that, I'm a happy Premium customer. Great job, Evernote!
They could make Evernote great...
by HeresMyTwoCents on 2018/12/30 21:34
Tags are a central part of making Evernote work, so why the heck are there still so many inconsistencies between the way tags work on iOS vs. macOS? For the love of God, why can you still not show nested tags on iOS? They show up perfectly on the Mac. And why is it that I can forward the same email to Evernote and to OneNote, and the email is formatted perfectly inside OneNote, but in Evernote it looks like the email exploded! Tables are torn apart and scattered all over the place, colors are wrong... I swear, if I didn’t know any better, I’d think the people at Evernote are actually trying to lose the race with OneNote. Not to mention the fact that Evernote still will not allow us to create a notebook directly inside our desired notebook stack, nor can we create a child tag directly inside the parent tag. Instead, they force us to create new notebooks and tags into “outer space”, and then we have to go in manually move them into the stack or parent tag we wanted them to be in in the first place. Seriously, why?! This is such an absolute waste of time! Why not allow us to select a stack or parent tag, and then create new notebooks and tags within the selected item? This is elementary stuff, people! They should have more than enough money by now to hire additional programmers to get these annoying issues sorted out!
Fix GUI for long titles
by LAX20531 on 2017/10/19 03:47
Using iPhone 6s Plus the titles truncate unless showing title only, no images and no preview text. Adding either/or truncs titles to one tiny row (that can be as little as 2 words). Increasing the size of the note box accomplishes nothing either. I’ve grown tired of EN putting an inferior app into production and relying on its users to solve the problems. Why can’t there be a stable app and an additional development/beta app for more adventurous users?? Many of us complained about the legacy app but it provided everything we could want, including the ability to revert to previous note versions and displayed plenty of text on the screen. I’d gladly take that back as the production app. Because EN doesn’t share its development roadmap we have no clue of what’s in the pipeline. As a result I think this will be my last year of paid use, putting me in the position of finding a suitable replacement (and that isn’t OneNote.)
Easy, fun, and beautiful
by aberrantartist on 2017/09/18 13:15
This app is very well made. It provides many options for different kinds of not taking; photos, drawing/writing with a stylus, audio and typing. There are lots of ways to share and organize them also. It would be even better if it allowed greater flexibility with organizing notes such as wrapping text around images or drawings, and being able to move images or drawings after placing them so your not forced to put them right after the last line of text. Also being able to change the size of the images and text. And the feature to change your profile picture is not very good. It doesn't allow you to crop very far and doesn't show what will be cropped out and what won't. Thanks for a great app overall though!
Can’t believe this is considered a productivity tool
by PrivateReview on 2017/11/14 14:58
Despite the negative reviews on the new price structure, I ponied up and paid for Premium for a month because I need to move to a more paperless life in both business and academia. I can’t believe how slow and clunky this product is. Scanning text in is incredibly time consuming due to delays in translating scans to PDFs. Scan function frequently recognizes only part of a page, meaning multiple rescans necessary. Marking up any documents takes 3x as long due to seconds wasted every time you need to translate from one tool to another. All elements of marking up are glitchy - text box doesn’t always appear, no erase function (just delete entire edit), stylus writing is clunky, etc. There is no way I can use this as a substitute for paper copy and hand marking. This app is the equivalent of taking 15 minutes to solve a problem by text which could have been conveyed in 3 minutes of speech. Super-disappointing.
Your disorganized digital brain
by sjebnet on 2017/10/31 14:02
Evernote sells itself as a repository for all the information you’ve got rolling around in your head. In GTD fashion, offloading all that info into a trusted system freeing up headspace. The breakdown happens when you need to recall that info. The search function is atrocious. “Where was that quote about...” Good luck. If it finds it at all, random words — or just space between the lines — in the resulting note will be highlighted. If it’s a lengthy passage with the word mentioned more than once, forget it. I only use Evernote on my phone, and the UI update they pushed out about a year ago made the app more of a capture tool than a usable interface. The app is so minimalist you almost have to have access to a computer or larger screen to make any sense at all of what you have stored in it. I’ve invested a lot in migrating my stuff onto the platform, but I probably won’t renew my subscription.
Tricked into upgrading!
by TechWriter7 on 2018/08/29 19:37
I’m one of the earliest Evernote users, but then we also bought our first computer so early that it could only boot up from a 5.25-inch floppy! So I was a very early user of Evernote when there just weren’t that many good options out there. A few updates ago, the request to log in somehow tripped a switch that revealed to Evernote what I had paid, as well as the horrifying revelation that I wasn’t paying a subscription fee! So I checked out all the various payment levels and plans but am sorry to report that Evernote’s obscene prices are simply not justified by their product. An update for which your description reveals that you’ve changed the icon (bad move, unfortunately) rather than correcting some of the rather frightening failures that I as well as other reviewers have reported is not just disappointing; it is simply an example of nothing less than the sort of runaway greed that we routinely see in the market once a product becomes well known enough that the makers feel they can sit back and enjoy their position without continuing to earn it. This was an easy choice—sign up, copy and paste to another SIMPLER (stress intentional, as I doubt they’d let me name a competitor) but tremendously improved notes app, delete Evernote, then cancel payment. And thanks for the warnings, reviewers—I’ll be carefully watching our charges in iTunes!
Better but needs a few lessons from Google Docs
by Geezmanf on 2018/07/02 06:21
I was a Premium user from way back, then abandoned Evernote a few years ago when it just became bloated and ridiculous. Early in 2018 I was convinced to try again and immediately upgraded to Premium. It’s much better than it was but still has some very annoying features: iOS versions are slow and buggy (though design is pretty good); something very wrong with how lists are indented (takes like 4 taps) and spellchecked (spellcheck thinks bulleted or numbered lists are combined with previous line); shortcuts are in different orders from desktop to iOS; saving a post from Twitter tries to import the whole thread but then excludes the original post. Nitpicking but serious flaws to my workflow and could be easily fixed if they simply mirrored Google Docs apps. Overall good app though.
Encryption woes
by juleskb on 2017/10/08 15:32
I’ve been an Evernote user since it’s inception. How long has it been since your iOS app stopped supporting 256 AES encryption? A couple of years? So I reluctantly switched to 128 AES. Then that stopped working too. So now the only way to open my encrypted notes on my iPhone and iPad is to log in using a mobile browser and then use Request Desktop Site. Of course the desktop site looks like crap and is cumbersome to use on mobile devices. Now on my iPad Pro the app crashes if I even try to enter the password for an encrypted note. Yes I’m using the most current version. This an age of mobile devices, both for business and personal use. It’s unacceptable that your iOS app lacks this crucial functionality. It seems to me that like some other SW companies Evernote is more enamored of it’s own brilliance and profits than of end user feedback and experience. Perhaps it’s time to move on.
No technical support
by Razz42 on 2019/01/02 06:47
I've used Evernote for years. Unfortunately, they have restricted their website so that it is basically impossible to get technical support unless you are a premium member. I left my membership lapse for a few months while I knew I wouldn't use it. Unfortunately, when I went into my account shortly before I planned to reinstate it, I noticed a glitch with templates. This would not be a huge deal, but I am extremely frustrated by the shoddy setup of evernotes support. There are two options for support. The first is to go to "support" on the Evernote website and then select your problem. There was nothing about my problem there. The second option is to select "contact us" on the app or website, and then choose between email or phone. This is 2019, so I went with the non-phone option. This then takes you through a series of drop down menus to select the subject of your email. I did this, and was repeatedly given a message to file a report about my issue. There was no link, note was there an obviou way to do this in the note or on the templates page. After devoting a couple of hours to the sisyphean task, I gave up. I'm hesitant to reinstate my premium account, as well. I don't really want to pay $60 for additional services to a company that doesn't even stand behind their self-proclaimed basic ones.
Two features to add
by SSIDawg on 2018/02/11 13:20
Premium user. Evernote is my go to for notes, to do lists, and planning - Great tool! I appreciate the improvements over the years. Please add two features to the Evernote App IOS (iPad and iPhone versions) as is in Evernote for Windows App on my PC to get my 5 Star review. 1. Merge | add ability for all the same reasons to use merge as on the PC - when traveling it would make it easy to compile travel notes and receipts. 2. Reminders | add the ability to set multiple reminders inside a note. For example, my To Do list has multiple items that come due at different times - I would like the option to not have to create a separate note for each item in order to set a reminder. ... or the option to set up multiple reminders.
Long time user
by SamuelCruz961 on 2017/12/06 14:20
I’ve been a user off and on since 2011 and I still can’t believe they haven’t changed the keyboard layout to allow quick access to tab back and forth bullet points. When your in a rush to write a note down that is key. Having to press the “A=“ to get to typing formatting is just an extra step that is annoying and needs to change. Take OneNote for example. Everything you need to format your typing is quickly available. I realize that if you connect a keyboard to your iPad you can just press “tab” and “enter” to move around bullet points but on a phone it’s impossible. You have to press “A=“ to move bullet points around. Other than that I LOVE Evernote. I’ve found myself moving more to using OneNote though because of that. It’s a shame cause I rather be using Evernote.
Inferior to Apple’s Simple “Notes”
by zachjj44 on 2018/01/22 08:44
I never upgraded because I firmly believed that taking notes on a device and syncing them should never cost me money. Fortunately for Evernote, this app’s function worked better than any other notes app when I first downloaded it a couple years ago. Unfortunately, the inertia of having so many notes kept me with Evernote long after it decided to add a premium subscription and slowly but surely take away all of the nice features that made it better than its competitors. Frankly, I’m a simple user- I write notes and categorize them, and here’s the thing: after getting a new iPad, I decided to give the Apple native notes a try, and it was just better. Evernote had for a while started to feel like I was constantly hitting the paywall by having only the free version and every time I opened it I was hounded by reminders of how much more I could be doing if I would only PAY for its services. But notes’ interface is sleeker, syncs on all THREE of my devices (yes, agreed, excessive, but if I’ve got ‘em, I want ‘em to sync!!), searches just fine, and is just as easy to use. I finally decided to switch over- and if you’re slowly getting tired of Evernote, you should think about it too :)
I need this but it frustrates me
by RettaO on 2018/10/08 00:04
The features are great but extremely buggy so I have to be verrrry careful. I never know how this app is going to behave. Today I was trying different ways to make flash cards and store them in Evernote. I learned: If I add a Microsoft Word file with cropped images to a note and view the file in the mobile app, the cropped out-parts will show and the aspect ratio will be wildly distorted. If I create a note with a table and add an image to a cell in that table, the image will disappear after a few minutes and I will be left with an empty table. Last week I learned of I sort one folder by title, it will sort all folders by title. This is a bad defaul feature, with no way to turn it off that I can find, so I just have to constantly re-sort notes when I switch folders. Furthermore, I’ve gotten into the habit of syncing on one device and when I move to another device, shutting Evernote down completely on the new device before opening any note, because I have had older notes overwrite newer notes before and I don’t know why. Nevertheless I am kind of in awe and will keep using it. Microsoft Word will crash on a girl too, so I guess it’s a matter of picking your poison.
Top of the Food Chain
by Turbo444 on 2018/06/04 16:38
I’ve tried to find something better, I really have. I was certain that by now some developer would have created a digital brain that was even easier, cheaper, slicker..., but nope. If there is such a product, it’s well-hidden in the sea of almost-as-good. NOTHING else has everything. I’m paying the premium fee every month because Evernote saves me time and stress... and it’s worth every penny to me. Previous review early-2017: Five Stars! Quit Complaining... People write bad reviews here about being asked to pay for (previously free) features. It's too bad those reviews hinder App Store rankings. Because even the complainers know that Evernote is a stellar app with a fantastic track record. Even the haters know that first-class apps have humans behind them who deserve to be paid for their development and maintenance of superb software. I have thousands of notes created over four years, and I use most features regularly without any hiccups. Evernote is absolutely worth a few bucks a month.
Still a Great App but some of the changes are frustrating
by LilHonu1 on 2018/04/24 15:19
Easy and extremely useful however once upon a time if I made a list with the "check box" once I was done checking off said items there was an option to delete all the Line items which had been checked off. This feature has been removed for quite some time, I'm not sure why. This simple option was quite helpful & time efficient. Now I have to go Line item by line item to remove those which were checked. It is quite annoying especially when there is an extra long "to do" or grocery list. PLEASE please bring this back. I honestly don't know why it was ever removed.
Recent issues
by Lindsey Caldwell on 2018/03/27 13:32
I’ve always loved Evernote, and I’ve become completely reliant on it in every way. However since the most recent update (March 2018), I’ve had massive issues and customer service is nowhere to be found. I’ve emailed twice... “urgent!” And no response. It IS urgent!!! I’ve been logging my client hours for the past two weeks on a major job, and suddenly some of my notes, including client hours, show text in preview but when I go to open full note, it comes up blank and freezes the entire app. So I can’t bill my client until this resolves. The copy paste feature has also started acting up. Can only C/P small amounts at once. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling app, restarting phone. Nothing. I’m very angry about this.
Nah, Fam
by whyareyoureadingreviewsloser? on 2018/06/29 00:53
Was on this app all of about two minutes until I realized that they want to charge $8 a month for me to access notes that I write. That’s gonna be a no from me. My Netflix account is $11 a month to access more third party content than I can possibly watch. This app however wants $8 for me to access my own ideas, on a device that I already own. If this app was particularly unique it would be a different story, but alas there are free apps that do the functions that this app charges monthly for. I got a little sick to my stomach thinking about the hundreds of dollars they would expect a college student to spend over the course of 4 years to be able to access their own notes offline. Deleted the app immediately. Definitely an interesting app idea, however. Would have gladly paid much more than $8 as a one time fee for full access.
Sadly Controlling, Restrictive, Disfunctional
by 444tiger on 2018/06/25 23:53
Be very cautious getting pulled into this platform. Once in, many restrictions and limitations, no ease of sharing notes, no simple emailing of notes, functionality buried and hidden, forced to use the Evernote transmittal system which is rudimentary and provides no visibility, flexibility. I am now stick with Evernote and regret it very much. Migrating all content out to another platform at this point a monumental task. Much of the functionality is awkward and clumsy; notes editing, organization, resultant format when added from external sources, etc. It is as if the designers don't actually use their own platform or have created with the interest of Evernote at heart, not the independent user. This is a system much more geared to capture and contain users than to facilitate, unleash and unencumber. Truly disappointing as the potential, the architecture is there.
Love Evernote - but sure been buggy lately
by JustBrowsing123 on 2018/06/17 16:25
I'm a longtime Evernote user on the business plan. I have hundreds of notes and dozens of notebooks. It is important for my personal and business life. But the past 6 months has had so many bugs that don't get fixed for long stretches of time. And customer service is becoming really poor and disregards customer questions - this can spell the end for you, Evernote, if this continues. With this latest app update, it completely broke and I had to delete and download again. Evernote, fix your glitches and be more responsive to customers. We want you to work so that we can keep enjoying you.
Loses notes
by dottroy on 2018/02/22 21:57
The point of a notes app is that it store notes and be able to find them again. The search is generally worthless, you have to use tags religiously because that’s the only way you can find anything. I’ve had a note of list items for 5+ years that I referred to. Now I can’t find it via Search. Text I know is in it shows zero results. Worse, I scrolled through thousands of notes and can’t find it. It’s gone forever. And I paid money for this?!? Saving web pages is lousy. It throws 3 photos in the list view that rarely have anything to do with the page or are just some design graphic from the site. And don’t even try to edit that note, it will destroy everything. Searching for any content on it is a waste of time. Surely there’s a better notes app than this aging poorly-maintained junk.
Ok but not very user-friendly
by rdschouw on 2018/01/08 14:40
I like the idea to access my notes everywhere including my iPhone. But the user interface is not very user friendly. Notes look messy especially when editing both on my phone and the desktop version. UPDATE: I’m now on Apple Notes. There are two major reasons for me to ditch Evernote. First Evernote’s sync has quite dumb. It can’t integrate changes from two different sources at the same time. I run into every now and then when I edit a note on my phone while it’s offline. I get “conflicts”. Google Docs and Apple Notes don’t have that issue anymore and are passed that nonsense. Evernote is lagging behind here. Second, when you copy-paste from web pages - which I do all the time - it tries to be smart in keeping the formatting but in practice this confused the Evernote note editor leading to a note I can’t edit anymore - especially on IOS. Basically it makes it unusable for me. I really want Evernote to win, because I like the idea of an independent software. Apple can just change their mind and not focus on Apple Notes anymore because something else is more important to them, but Evernote needs to step up their game to stay relevant and keep me as a customer.
Great features but slow to load
by MickerMau5 on 2018/12/20 22:34
App is everything I need. Love all the features. My only complaint is that it’s slow to load. After minimizing and going back into the app it can take a couple seconds. It doesn’t seem like much but sometimes you need to jot something down in a pinch and it really slows you down. I also wanted to like the passcode feature but you can see a preview of the locked note before unlocking it, which seems kind of counterintuitive to something you want kept private. Because of this I’m considering going back to the iOS Notes app but I really like how you can access Evernote from any browser.
Customer support is lacking
by ZzSass on 2018/02/27 01:13
Premium subscriber with many years of happy use. After extended chat session I never could get the rep to acknowledge what the actual problem is. I have set this app up on multiple devices syncing successfully via 3rd party compatible app and am quite familiar. Can not get any straight answers. Tried to forward email that proves device was added and screenshot of error message saying the account was not authenticated .... the email bounces back saying the ticket number included in previous message from support rep could not be found. With no phone support... and automation that kicks back conflicting info I am beginning to wonder what is going on. The message from this... if it works.. great app! If you have a problem .. ??? Too bad...
Please consider
by Kahpriis on 2018/06/30 06:10
In the all notes section the date comes before the title which is annoying when scrolling for something specific. Also there is no way to tell from this screen which notes are in what notebook. Please include on the note snapshot. Also the sorter button for placing notes is at the top of the new note not at the bottom. If it was at the bottom I could place it when I was finished with the note and I wouldn’t have to scroll at the way to the beginning. Doing this causes the note to reopen, for example a list, at the top of the list by the title, instead of picking up at the bottom where I most likely left off. Does the job but not intuitively user friendly.
I canceled my subscription, its horrible now
by Bluebanjoboy on 2017/08/31 03:13
Used to be a great app. Been using it since 2009 and this Jan(2017) is the worst it's been. Glitchy. Why change it when it's not broke? As a premium paying customer, Very disappointed with the update, please fix it and I will bring my review back up. The feature I used the most, making notes or highlighting things in PDF docs is hardly working on my iOS devices very frustrating. One of the main things I pay for premium for. PLEASE FIX THIS EVERNOTE!😡😡😠😩😩☹️️ use it for school and personal stuff. But looks like I'll be deleting this app. They now won't let me sync more than two devices without paying. Load of crap. I'd keep paying if they went back to their old interface(like anything before the huge overhaul they just had) just horrible I'm so let down.
I love this app than any other.
by cheli_belly94 on 2017/09/17 19:54
I can organized them in certain ways, it also can do both ways. Recording and writting my notes at the same time, knowing that a lot of apps cannot do that. But I really do hope that their monthly payment or annually is not very expensive for plus and / premium plans. Even though there is discounts going on. But, I used it for taking notes and records important stuffs. I wish that they will give the free or basic plan more GB memory. And maybe add more features if you want us as customers to be interested on the premium or plus plans. So far, I had no concerns or problems with this app.
Evernote used to be so great, now payment problems
by Zippy Magee on 2017/10/18 20:50
I’ve had Evernote for years. I don’t know how many incremental price increases I’ve happily acquiesced to. I was an early adopter of premium even. Everything was great, up until two months ago. Now the company is acting like I haven’t paid my subscription. It’s been on auto renew since 2014 with no issues. I have the iTunes receipts and everything. Last month they “apologized” for the inconvenience and agreed I was paid in full. I just received an email saying my “complimentary month” has expired. I’ve been downgraded to basic even though I sent them an email with the iTunes receipt attached four days ago. No response from customer service. iTunes is helping, but the best they can do is get me my money back. I just wish iTunes wasn’t shady now.
Still very useful-a very long time user
by sunj on 2018/11/18 17:39
I have been a premium user for many years and have found evernote to be a great organizing tool. I still find the Mac version good but redesigned the iOS app has taken some time to get used to. Overall the simplified interface is good. It took me a while to find the share feature as I don’t think it’s completely intuitive. It’s the top central icon. I know evernote has serious difficulties and appears to be hemorrhaging top people. I hope they clarify their core mission and continue to be execute well. Competition is increasing.

Best journal app
by Play for brains on 2019/02/12 01:46
Best journal, personal note and memo app.
Constantly Freezes on Me
by brandon_owow on 2019/02/08 17:20
I’m not sure if it’s just me, but my app freezes almost every time I open it up for the first time that day.
Crashes on IPad Pro
by areyoukiddingme56 on 2019/02/03 07:30
I love Evernote....when it works. It freezes on me soooo often. Have had to delete it and reinstall too many times just to get it going again. Sometimes that is the only option.

Very simple note keeper.

Great app
by Blazae23 on 2019/01/28 02:02
I’ve been using app for about two yeas now and it works well for my basic needs. Happy with my customer service experience as well. I reached out on a Saturday night for account access issues and they (Jeffery) replied to me within 24 hours of my request. I should add that I’m not a premium user.
Lots of bugs
by Visaipalagai on 2019/01/27 08:05
Please fix the bugs and make the Evernote great again
doesnt even open on ipad
by celestialcephalopoda on 2019/01/27 07:52
I've been using this app for years on my iphone and laptop, but sad to say the quality of customer care (nonexistent) and app development is in deep decline.

Blank screen before and after update
by USlims1 on 2019/01/24 06:56
The app was going so well until yesterday. When I login I see a blank screen with DEVICES written at the top of it - no explanation as to how I can go into the app. Just blank screen and go figure.

Disaster
by RachelRT on 2018/08/05 14:39
Not that the people who made this app care (customer service is nonexistent), but I’ve lost access to my entire account.
