Monthly subscription
by Not_Patrick on 2022/05/14 21:04
I just want to use this app to upload audio files to organize the music I create. There is a size limit of 25 MB which is incredibly low and the only way I can get more space is by paying $8/mo? I would gladly pay a one time fee but paying a monthly subscription for basic features is utterly ridiculous.
Crashing
by MightyMite96 on 2022/05/14 15:11
This crashes every time I try to open it and it has all my recipes 🥹 Update: Latest update fixed the issue! Love this app. I keep organized folders of all my recipes. Even my mom and grandmothers, I just take pictures of them on my phone and then add it to the album.
New and Improved, and Still Unreliable
by bigtelco on 2022/05/14 04:08
I have been a premium user since 2010. Conceptually, Evernote should be the best note taking app around. Webclipper, OCR, search capabilities, great internal and external linking capabilities, markdown editing, and a nice table layout. All of these features are great. However, since the new management team has taken over, the back office has been a disaster. More than two years ago they embarked on the path to making this a web app with Electron-based device apps. First they launched an alpha-grade set of software and removed all the features. Then users endured two years of unreliable and often comically horrible software experiences. After two years of development I challenge anyone to try annotating or writing any thing significant using the Apple Pencil. Even now, sometimes my iPhone app works but my iPad app doesn’t, or vice versa. I’ve given up on the Mac app and just use the web, it doesn’t sync reliably, or deleted notes magically reappear, or get duplicated. Rather than fixing these fundamental issues we now have: a very messy “home page” full of “widgets.” Now we have tasks…. Etc. But, at the end of the day, almost every day, when you can least afford it, you run into a bug or crash. Craft notes is great and super reliable, Apple notes has made great strides and now has tags and excellent OCR search, OneNote is a bit clunky but offers an infinite workspace, decent search and excellent Apple Pencil support. These apps they may lack some of Evernotes great features, but they operate reliably and consistently. I.e., they don’t charge you a lot of money to waste your time. My strong advice: Look Elsewhere!
Casual User since 2013
by me too# on 2022/05/14 02:27
I Might have continued subscription if... -I could have had ANY response from the “support” team -I could’ve had any usefulness out of it -my Evernote email address had Ever worked -my contact info hadn’t been corrupted and rendered my account useless. -my data hadn’t been held hostage to their ever changing app/rules/subscriptions/features If you don’t have to use Evernote, my advice is don’t start. You can do better. If Evernote would contact me and fix this, I’d consider changing my review (and subscription)
I loved it but there are way too many errors
by bcookie18 on 2022/05/13 17:19
I really love this app, but one of the main reasons I stopped using it is because of how many times it would log me out and not let me log in with my Apple account. This happened almost every other day on both mobile and desktop. Either an error would pop-up or it would continuously load until it would crash. It makes taking a "quick note" that much more taxing when I have to login or I'm unable to login every time.
Not working
by ㅂㄱㅍㅂㄱㅍㅎ on 2022/05/12 19:35
I can't launch the app. I've been using it for a while and had never problem with it until now. Still not working after the recent update.
Used to be good.
by JamesHigginsMusic on 2022/05/12 16:25
I have been a long time Evernote Premium user. This has been my go to app for storing info. However over the last few years it has become so bloated with unnecessary “features” that it is the slowest app on any device I use it on. For the last year it has been steadily more and more problematic about syncing between devices. Now I usually get 2-5 copies of a note because it failed to correctly sync changes. It has become more cumbersome than helpful and has caused a long time Premium user to plan to move away without looking back. Apple Notes is already handling what I need t for and without syncing issues.

App crashes since last update
by Mo4u on 2022/05/12 05:13
Otherwise I enjoy the app, asked about being able to save videos almost 2years ago but nothing yet.. was informed that it may come in the future, any word on that?
Still crashes on open

No change after todays update (5/11/2022). Still crashes on open on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Please fix it.
Crashes immediately on launch.

Awesome App!!! 10 year veteran
by Flmedic11 on 2022/05/11 15:14
I absolutely love this app!!! I have been using it for 10 years now, at the time this review was written. I have used it both personally and professionally, and it seems like this app and the developers make it better each time. I used it as a personal trainer and now in EMS and for school. I have it on my phone and laptop, so it’s easy to copy and paste as well as share things quickly. This app is a must-have note taking app! I highly recommend it. However, I have only ever had the free version, don’t know much about “premium features”, but if I ever need them, the price seems more than reasonable.
Still bugs (5)
by Ccsbluedragon on 2022/05/11 09:39
One bug includes that often times when “tapping” on a note to start typing, if the first button you press is “return”, your typing cursor gets brought all the way down to the bottom of your note and you have to scroll all the way back to where you just were and try it again.. Another problem is with “search” feature before in old updates when you would search in main search bar and tap the note that contains the keyword, it would automatically bring you to the first highlighted keyword in the note where you could easily cycle to the following matching words. Now, it simply opens the note and you have to choose the option to again choose “find in note” feature, backspace once and then the matching word you are looking for will begin to be highlighted -> also when using “find in note” when you are done with searching and you hit “cancel” it brings you all the way back to one of the words that is highlighted. This is frustrating and should simply keep screen where it is at and end search and highlighting function.. The next major bug is that occasionally “duplicate” notes will be created and you must read through the note to find which one is not right and must be deleted.. Another problem is that you cannot create encrypted text within the app.. Finally, it is quite cheap that after the last major update, the option to customize the homescreen is locked behind a paywall. Not good. ———————————— (Old update as of 5/11/22)- The app constantly locks me out of notes saying they are “view only”, i constantly have to leave note, come back, reset app for notes to work properly. Not good at all Also, the new “home” feature is clunky and makes it harder to view notes. It is a terrible update to the app. Before when you launch the app you would be taken to a neat, easy to view, full screen list of your most recent notes and made the app excellent. Now the app forces you to open to a new “home” screen with a bunch of useless widgets and you have to click a tiny “notes” button to get back to the full screen list view of your notes. I will be looking for a new note app. This update is horrible and make the app much worse. ———- (Old review “4 stars” before “new” “home and widgets” update) Good Good app. There is one problem for me with the app.. You can only encrypt and edit encrypted text on computer. There is no option to do this on mobile. You can view items encrypted on computer, but cannot make changes or create new encrypted data. But other than that, a great note taking app!
Slow and prone to hang-ups (on iPad)
by FreshForestFanatic on 2022/05/10 02:23
While the iPhone and Mac apps are fast and responsive I can’t say the same for the iPad version. The app will frequently stall when I attempt to use a text modifier or try to switch between notes. When I do try to go back and forth between notes, it will simply refuse to load the currently selected note. Or if I am marking up text, the app will take up to a minute to “catch up” to what I was doing. Sometimes the app will freeze, and so I have to restart the app to catch up. I’m on a 2020 iPad Pro, so lack of power isn’t an factor here.
Ability to change default home screen would make this the go to notes app
by JB5469 on 2022/05/09 09:58
I love Evernote and have been using it for years. The 10GB of month of storage is unmatched and generous. The one thing that holds me back from wanting to use this app is the home screen. When I want to write a note, I don’t care about widgets or a fancy background. I just want a list of my past notes and a simple + button to add a new one. I feel like it takes too many taps to create a new note or view all previous notes that makes the app clunky and not enjoyable to use especially when I need to take a note quickly. The scratchpad is an okay solution but doesn’t nicely transfer to a note. It could maybe be fixed if the first line of the scratch pad is converted to the note title instead of “Scratch pad…” which is meaningless to the user. Please add an option to default the Home Screen when you open the app to the note list and I’ll be a lifetime user! A better note list widget (vertical scrolling) could also be a bandaid for now.

Learned my lesson
by zerocustomer service on 2022/05/08 22:54
I’ve used Evernote for many years and thought it was a good product until I lost two important Notes in the recent update. I learned the hard way to keep important info “ old school” in my hand written notes.
Continually get worse
by OaksEnd on 2022/05/07 18:35
I have uses Evernote since it was beta. I have attempted to use it to go paperless so I have 1000s of notes. But sadly I believe I picked the wrong product. Many others, like OneNote, do everything I need and are free to us. Evernote continues to up it price and force users to buy expensive plans for features that were originally promised to remain free. I don’t mind paying for very useful software, but when you charge premium prices, I expect core features to work reliably. This is not the case with Evernote. They seem to spend their resources developing fringe services rather then keeping core features working reliably. I recently tried to send a PDF from safari to Evernote and it just hung. On the Mac, the auto load folder works once and then not again. When I pursued the problem with Evernote support, I was told to wait for an upgrade (a year ago now) after several weeks of them having me try resetting and restoring the app. I used to recommend this product, but no more. Whatever your specific needs, you can find better.
Search function does not work
by Depnola on 2022/05/06 11:14
I am using the latest IOS version and have hundreds of notes. Search function DOES NOT work at all, rendering the app virtually useless.
Unusable!
by TLenczuk on 2022/05/06 03:12

Awesome best app ever
by 🌺😊😀💓 on 2022/05/04 23:37
I love this app I’ve been using it since probably 2000 and I don’t know what I would do without it it’s always there and I can always remember to put stuff in there and then if I need it in a quick fix it’s right there never had any problem with any updates and I just can’t imagine not using anything else but ever know thank you so much
No, I’m not paying you to resize an image
by SadiePantaloons on 2022/05/03 16:07
Basic features missing on non-premium. Why would I pay you just for the benefit of resizing an image or remove an unwanted widget from my home screen when I can do it on many other note taking apps for free? Must be trying times in the creativity dept when you have to limit basic and expected features to rope people into a premium account. That’s what I’ll do, I’ll move all my notes elsewhere. Maybe Google Docs.
Great Note Taking App

Not Sure Why So Many People Like Evernote
by Climbbike on 2022/04/29 19:33
I really don’t see why so many people seem to like Evernote. It doesn’t let you do some REALLY basic stuff that it should let you do. Example: You can’t custom order your notes. eh!? what?? I don’t want to go hunting for a note every time. I want it exactly where I want it. You also can’t custom order your notebooks. why not? In fact, you can’t order your notebooks AT ALL. You can group notebooks into sections but it’s a weird workflow that seems like it was added later as an after though. The side bar won’t show on ios unless you manually open it, in fact, the app behaves very differently on IOS then on the desktop. Not for me.
Missing images from notes
by 🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇦 on 2022/04/29 15:25
Too many times images seems to be uploaded on the note but when you retrieve at a later time images don’t show up on the note
Worse with every update
by Lin0 on 2022/04/27 01:55
The latest bug is how long it takes to view a note, and it’s not my internet connection because if a note won’t open I try to open a second, which opens quickly and if I then try to open the original it pops up immediately. Still my worse complaint is the edit feature. If the editing button enables editing why is it that if I scroll and keep my finger on the iPad to long editing opens. Some notes are date specific and I don’t want people to think it was modified just because I toured the screen. Edits should require a two step process or be locked to prevent editing unless unlocked.
Keeps shutting down
by EvRnoteBROKemyHeart on 2022/04/27 01:40
Had this app for years, since about 2016. Worked great! Told all my friends to get it! Loved that you could have multiple devices for free and never had an issue!! Fast forward to 2022, I keep getting this notification that I need to update, so I did. Nothing but problems!!! I can login to look at a note for about 30 seconds just for it to log me back out and have to log back in. Sooooo frustrating! I’ve taken all my notes off that I could by “screen recording” then taking screen shots of the video just so I can type up a new document! I am deleting this app! I’m not paying monthly or yearly for something I’ve had for YEARS for free! Who knows if paying would make it even work right now! Don’t waste your time! Try another app!

Shared Note disappears
by S4M.2018 on 2022/04/24 01:21
When someone shared a note with you via email, it tell you to see the note via EN App, you click it then it just goes to App Store, then you click on EN icons in App Store and NOTHING. YOULL NEVER SEE THAT SHARED NOTE. Yes EN App is installed on the phone. Yes. I’m paying for this trash app. FIX THIS!
I finally decided to quit
by ariel021666 on 2022/04/23 21:46
This is literally the worst note app ever. I have been using it for my to do list, journals, etc. I was pretty disappointed at its inability for syncing three devices. Also, it kept logging me out on my phone, my iPad and my computer. It’s pretty annoying to keep signing in, especially when I’m busy. Sometimes it wouldn’t save my work even when it’s connected to the wifi. So there was a couple of times where I had to rethink what I wrote and rewrite it. I have to admit that its templates are pretty useful but it’s not that useful to offset all the bad things about it. I sincerely hope the team can make some changes and improvements in this app.
Have to pay for something so simple
by Kalaster on 2022/04/23 15:02
Yet another simple app that started out free, has now become overly complicated to warrant “premium” features. Hate this trend anymore and I don’t support it.
Was my most important app, now trash
by billschick on 2022/04/23 14:09
First, for context, my brain is everywhere. As a business owner, I have a million things going on at once. Ideas pop up at the worst times, often with no way to capture them. And then there was Evernote. Ahhhhh I loved Evernote’s simplicity, its ease of use, its utility. Think of something? Capture it on whatever device, put it in its notebook, tag it, and you have it forever. Until… About two years ago, Evernote abandoned its core features to become everything to everyone. Now, when I create a simple text note on my phone, and save it, half the note is GONE. This happens consistently. Updating doesn’t help. The app is busted. I’m sure this doesn’t bother anyone else, however, given the brief context above, this can range from being a minor irritation to just plain awful. It’s just unusable enough to force me to find something else.

Will Not Synch Across Devices
by Nicole4U on 2022/04/23 03:49
I wanted to like Evernote. I really, REALLY wanted to like it because it’s one of few notes apps that will allow you to format with things like different colors (please take note Google Keep and Apple Notes). However the first time I tried to convince my partner to use it, it immediately set a bad impression. Our shared note kept duplicating. Then it looked like notes disappeared. He went back to using Google Keep so that I could figure out what was wrong. The app is up to date… Then I removed the duplicates… and now that we have the correct note with everything, it’s not showing up on our phones. The title of the note does. But the rest is empty. I hope I can return to this app later, but I can’t justify paying for it.

by m_katx10 on 2022/04/22 19:23
I have had this app since 2017 but haven’t been able to access my notes since 2020. I’ve never been fully able to open it since then despite me uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times. It would open, I would click my notes, the app would close.
No indent on iPhone app (4/21/22)
by helpfulhinting on 2022/04/22 03:17
I deleted the app after a few hours of trying to figure out how to indent a bubble list on the iPhone. This is a simple thing but the iPhone app is not able to do it. I tried finding an answer online but could not find one. I liked my notes app much better for my personal uses.
Wish I could rate it zero
by AB262 on 2022/04/21 13:18
Been a customer for 13 years. The new apps are HORRIBLE! The number of notes is never same between different Evernote devices. Sync takes hours. Search is broken. Can’t process notes due to all the restrictions they have recently added. Severe performance issues.Important features have been axed and lousy clunky features are being added to advertise. Support is struggling because the apps themselves are built to be non functional. Such a mess of a company 😡 Update #1: the exchange with support wasn’t much helpful as they already know the issues and can’t do anything about them. After a three year beta, two years into launch and a hefty price increase, the apps remain a complete mess. EN broke the trust of subscribers paying them for several years and continue to falsely advertise that these apps are an improvement. Update #2: Support has been unable to resolve the glitches. They take you through a set of useless troubleshooting steps to pretend that they are diagnosing the issue. After a few days, they ask for activity log, and then ask for a feedback be written for consideration of their design team with no ETA for implementation. Evernote knows that they hav destroyed their apps. They are making false advertisements and endorsements to trick people to subscribe. This is a wasted company.
Purposely Broken Web App

One big negative regression
by Lee E #3 on 2022/04/17 13:05
I’ve used Evernote for the better part of a decade and have loved it. However, removing the ability to create sub bullets is a game changer for me. As silly as it seems, removing this feature alone makes me consider switching to similar services. It’s that big of a deal. I’m sure this was a data driven decision and perhaps it wasn’t used often and that’s why it was removed or something along those lines, but PLEASE bring it back. Removing it is no small inconvenience.
Worthless unless you want to pay for Professional version
by Meg B... on 2022/04/16 22:23
Very disappointed. I’ve been a big Evernote fan in the past but they’ve become more concerned about price gouging their customers than giving you a product that actually works. Sure there is a free version, but you can’t use most of the features. So they convince you a Personal plan is the way to go. Well, it does give you more features, but in order to really use the app and not have ridiculous storage limits, just kidding, you have to pay for the premium product, Professional. Buyer beware and if you do get sucked behind the paywall, you’d better hope you figure out its not worth it within 60 days of your 365 day subscription or they take your money and laugh in your face. Should’ve paid more attention to the 1 star reviews…
Eating don’t mean sht
by henryhampton on 2022/04/16 20:51
Unless you read the recent ones.. this platform of geeks hustling your dollars don’t pay any attention whatsoever to their blog of customers complaint about various issues.. btw it doesn’t work on airplane wireless either and if it does it creates multiple versions of the same note that you have to go manually determine which is which.. wankers
Version 10 is a disaster
by hanguolaohu on 2022/04/16 16:29
Since version 10, Evernote on iOS is a complete disaster. It is the slowest running app I’ve ever seen, background refresh doesn’t work, so when I open the app I have to wait minutes for it to load notes. App is buggy. I hate the annoying Home screen. These Silicon Valley companies are concerned with filling quotas and Woke politics than actually hiring qualified programmers who will improve the product.
Lotta bugs for a pricey app
by offpistenh on 2022/04/16 11:35
I’ve had Evernote since it first launched. I use it primarily to track things and keep items in soft copy (reciepts, notes, info). While I really like the app, it seems to always have tons of little bugs… issues with reminders, saving photos into a note (posts it 3 times, then you have to delete 2), etc etc. Often, when I file a report, I’m told “we’re working on it… “ I also don’t really love their new “home page.” It’s a great idea, and maybe handy if you’re a heavy user, but I find the widgets available are so limited that my home page is only about 1/3 used. I’ll keep using, but if you expect a “great” app, I think you’ll be disappointed.
Long time user, very disappointed.
by gizmosngadgets16 on 2022/04/16 03:39
I have used Evernote for a long time. Then I don’t know how long ago, they did a huge update and changed the way the app looks and operates it. Now it is very buggy and slow to update, and I keep getting conflicting versions as I update or change things because I use it across three devices. It used to be very reliable, and I was more than willing to pay for it, but now I do not like to pay for it, and I no longer tell people to use it, but I now discourage others from using it, but instead find something else. Evernote now has changed things around so that they can try to get even more money out of me and I am not a happy user. I will start looking for something else. I will tell you the same thing, don’t bother, find something else. Even the paid version has problems.

Great until you need to find something
by Gayfaggot on 2022/04/13 22:41
The app is great at organizing and storing information. However after a big update it no longer will jump to where you’re searching if you’re using the find/search tool. So essentially if you are looking for something specific and you have a lot stored on evernote, good luck. Extremely annoying and frustrating that a basic find function tool does not work and hasn’t now for at least a year. Aside from that the app is great.

Evernote is great!
by AtF1993 on 2022/04/12 12:34
Evernote is great! Definitely one of the best Notepad apps you can find in the Apple or Android store. I would have given this app 5 stars, but the one & only complaint I have is how it copies notes automatically. You will correct a previous minor error from one of your notes and it will save a copy of both & create a new note without your control. Makes no sense but other than that Evernote is amazing.
widget
by DJKyleMcFlurry on 2022/04/12 00:52
okay, so let me start off by saying that i LOVE this app!!! it has been so helpful for me!!! it is a bit tedious to set up a new note for every day (because i use it as a planner), seeing as how i can’t save a note template, but other than that i love it!! my one request would be that the app developers created a widget option for iphones, because that would be so so incredibly helpful!! but truly amazingly helpful app!!
Used to be my go to, can’t wait to replace

This used to be an amazing app. It currently holds a lot of important notes and I use it daily for my business. Unfortunately, the app has gotten so slow on my iPad that I can barely use it. It takes a while for a note to load, and if I switch apps and back again, it takes the same amount of time to reload instead of the note just being there. That basically means that it’s useless to use in any productive way. In addition, you can’t have multiple notes open at once (a feature in iPad OS for over two years), and the keyboard shortcuts are very limited (used to be my go to for using the app). The app is also just clunky and not smooth. It’s beyond frustrating. I touted Evernote for years, now I hate just about everything about it.
Almost Perfect

Love the app and the ability to view on ALL of my devices. Only major drawback is not being able to use outlook calendar . Only allows google calendar to be added.
Took VC money and tanked their culture

Don’t start using Evernote unless you’ve already been using it. If you have it. Start migrating to another app. Slow, buggy Electron app that constantly bugs you to upgrade (no matter what tier you’ve subscribed too) out of desperation. This company is a dead-man-walking. Nothing will save them because they’re on a Death March. Ants do that. Sometimes, they lose the scent and get caught walking in a circular loop until they all die of starvation. That’s Evernote.
You’re coming along but I miss the tabs option on desktop feature
by davusicion on 2022/04/10 14:40
I read the article of the interview of the president when he said he had to scale back on a lot of things and re-organize the company. But you should have gotten some input from your paying clients before completely removing some of our favorite features such as tabs. I keep seeing all these updates but I’m patiently waiting for you to bring back tabs and you haven’t. Why not? Why the delay? Also missing is the ability to select and move multiple images to another notebook by using the mouse. I missed that feature. Please bring back these features and I can give you five stars.
Great but the app uses a lot of resources
by kristiprifti on 2022/04/10 12:24
I own an iPhone XS and most of the apps work great. Evernote overheated my phone. It’s a just a notes up I don’t understand why it should use that many resources. I know additional features require extra resources but most of the time I only use Evernote mobile for simple on the go notes . And then look at them later in my computer. They should make a lite version of the app since most people don’t need all those features in thier phone. Just a quick and snappy lite version that can sync your simple notes.
Why’d you have to break it
by hotneals on 2022/04/09 20:48
I’ve been an Evernote Premium user for around 6 years now. With the current version it’s incredibly difficult to navigate (try and find how to full-screen your note if you’ve started typing on iPad), the search feature is all over the place, the notes don’t sync well between devices (I’ve actually lost notes), it’s slow now, etc. Then for a recent trip I offlined a handful of notebooks - turned off my wifi and closed & opened the app to make sure I could access the notes and it worked as it should. Next day I arrive to the National Park to camp without reception and of course EVERNOTE CANNOT LOAD ANY OF MY OFFLINED NOTEBOOKS. Honestly at this point Apple Notes is better than this paid app... if it’s not fixed soon I’m out. Every update I’ve been more and more disappointed in the broken features! I even joined the beta team to try and help provide feedback but that too was a waste of time. UPDATE: Despite paying for Evernote Premium, I was just notified I have to subscribe to the new service or cannot access my Evernote on multiple devices. I’m not even getting the service I paid for because they have a new plan….
Updating review
by izungu on 2022/04/09 15:47
I gave this app a one star review a few weeks ago, and have since received a response from the development team. For context, I have been using Evernote for more than a decade, and have been a paying user for many of those years. My early experiences were fantastic; the program ran smoothly, I literally never had a reason to complain. As I have relied more and more on it over the last couple of years, the bugginess and overall poor performance of the app has become too much to ignore, prompting my negative review. The response I received from the development team leads me to bemoan the fact there is not a rating below a single star. For every issue that I identified as a problem to the team that reached out, I kid you not the response was a variation of: “This is a known issue, we have no timeline for when it will be fixed.” While I may have an appreciation for the honesty of that response, there is nothing about that which gives me any incentive to continue to grind through a frustrating experience with an app I literally use daily when there are other options/ecosystems out there for me to try. It will be an unbelievably painful process for me to in fact extricate myself from Evernote’s ecosystem, but at this point it would be the definition of insanity for me to remain in it - they know there are problems, they have no idea when (if?) they will be fixed. Buyer beware; this is not the Evernote of 5 or so years ago.

I created an account years ago and tried to login just now and was told I have to upgrade to have access on unlimited devices. I can’t even get into my account I get the info I’m looking for because Evernote is so obsessed with charging users for the number of devices they use? Ridiculous Evernote.
Still losing files after all these years…
by Clarity2020 on 2022/04/07 18:31
So I just tried to access some very important documents from years ago and… They are missing! Customer service says that you need to go to a desktop computer. Um… Not everybody has a desktop computer anymore. Please move into the 21st-century, Evernote Periodt and figure out how to get my files back! And yes… I am a premium user. And yes, I am blind and they still have not fixed voiceover. What gives?
Has completely organized my brain!

Why so sloooooow – never used to be?
by Going back to the website. on 2022/04/06 23:26
Every new version of the software on the iPad, iPhone, and Mac is slower than the previous one. And that never used to be the case – the software used to be responsive. Using the app basically happens in slow motion.

New Update is seriously flawed
by Ring total 1 on 2022/04/05 18:31
I am losing sections of notes, and when I write quickly the clunky speed of the new update, like many other reviewers testify, can't keep up with the writing and actually mixes up the words mid-sentence so they get all jumbled. My phone is plenty fast for typing...psssh and writing in other apps is fine. I keep thousands of notes a year and need an app that can do the basics well: 1. not lose what I write and 2. Be able to type at the speed of my fingers. Hence the low review, despite appreciating the new look of the update, New features, and other considerations. I may actually be leaving Evernote after being with them for years.

A laggy, glitchy mess
by ElectricPreacha on 2022/04/05 15:08
I -rarely- write reviews, but this one had to be done. Evernote is the first and only note taking app I’ve ever really used. I’ve dabbled here and there with others just to see what they were like, but Evernote is what I’ve been using for 10 years. It’s been easily the best note taking app by a long mile. Until this last update. This is a hot mess. It lags so badly and once it finally unfreezes, you never know where you’re going to end up in the note itself, and it’ll screw up you’re entire note and work. When you touch a note to begin work, I’d suggest pouring some coffee, maybe cooking some breakfast, because it’ll be awhile before hay note gets pulled up. A simple note will lock up my entire iPad to the point that I have to close every single app I have open, and often have to reboot. This is ridiculous. For the first time in 10 years, I’m actively looking for a permanent replacement because this is nearly unusable. I’ve given it 2 stars instead of 1 solely because it can still technically be used and isn’t -entirely- impossible to use, but that’s what it does. It functions. Barely.
Unacceptable Tech Support for Paid Version
by Steve _b on 2022/04/05 05:46
3-17-22 I contacted Evernote support to let them know I’m locked out of my Evernote App, that states I’m exceeding the free version usage. I have been using Evernote since 2012 and have been paying for the Personal $69.99 version for years. Lorna G in Evernote support states she needs me to send verification of payment to Apple and an activity log from my account. I send them and she Lorna needs wants me to send my receipt from Apple in a different form. On 3-26-22 I received from Evernote: “I apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you now. I can assure you we're working diligently to fix it as quickly as possible. As I said from my previous reply, we're really checking and working on it and we will immediately inform you if it's already corrected.” 10 days have transpired since this began, with no further response or correction from Evernote. I had the same problem with the app a year ago, that they managed to correct in a short reasonable time. Additionally, this app has always been glitchy when trying to make selections to copy or move and when trying to add something in the middle of a note.
Sick and tired of note conflicts
by runeypants on 2022/04/04 17:51
I’ve been an Evernote premium user for years, but I’m currently evaluating other solutions. This app does not sync frequently enough. Having to force a manual sync every time I make changes is not acceptable. Note conflicts occur, and you don’t even give me a good way to handle them. I have to eyeball the difference between the two, going back and forth, since I can’t even see both at the same time. Can’t you even give me a simple diff to look at?
EXTREMELY slow
by ayylimao on 2022/04/03 00:53
Sure, I have an old device (iPhone SE), but explain why a note-taking app is so slow I can type a whole sentence before it actually shows up on my screen, and my phone starts to heat up, while I can play lots of games without an issue other than overheating? Other than Evernote, absolutely none of my apps is slow, and I have a lot. Seriously, it’s a note-taking app. Standard Notes is as quick as it gets, even though it also has instant sync. There’s no explanation other than a terrible memory sink anywhere, in a famous app that asks for pricy subscriptions. Why would I ever consider paying for one with that awful experience and what I imagine is even worse programming?
Couldn’t Even Use
by santihome on 2022/04/02 01:43
Every time I tried to start the app and get through the tutorial to use the app, it would take me back to the login screen and say I got logged out. Was excited to use the app because it looks well organized, but way too buggy from the start.
I love it but…
by Jazztacular on 2022/03/30 13:52
I love Evernote. I really do. And I will still use it. It’s just before I used to be able to use one account on multiple devices without having to pay for anything and now I have to subscribe just to use it on my computer. Because of that, I am docking a star. Everything else I love 🤷🏾‍♀️

Evernote>Microsoft OneNote
by Ascidzz on 2022/03/27 20:20
Listen, I love this app. It has replaced Microsoft OneNote for me. The only thing I really don’t like about this app (at least on the iPhone version, I don’t think I had this issue on my Samsung) is that, as a songwriter, I don’t always have a title when I first start writing. So when I get done with a song and I want to scroll up to enter a title, it goes out of edit mode just because I scrolled up. And then even when I tap into the Title field, it goes to the bottom of the document. It’s extremely annoying and I wish it would be fixed but I think it’s exclusive to iOS.
Unusably slow
by JonBackhaus on 2022/03/26 20:59
We have been an Evernote house for almost 10 years. We store tons of stuff on Evernote, including hundreds of recipes. The app has been on a slow decline for a couple years now. Lately, it is so slow and unresponsive as to make it unusable. We will be looking to cancel our subscription and migrate to another platform.
Day 1, already an issue?
by ChrstnaLne on 2022/03/26 02:18
This is odd. Tiago emphasizes the age and stability of this enterprise, but first time use and web clipper errors out. In addition, I was making the effort to use the MacOS app and that is buggy as well. I was really trying to give Evernote the benefit of the doubt, but its just not making any sense why I’m running into various bugs.

by Misterwarner on 2022/03/24 02:09
Part of the convenience of being able to use this on multiple devices. Now my biggest frustration is that it can never reconcile what note is the most recent. So I end up with duplicate notes, many of them. I’ve even taken two closing the app on my phone after every time I add something and doing the same on my iPad. Still, it’s a feature that shouldn’t be offered unless it works well. The whole picture situation is a complete mess, I have pictures in my thumbnail that are no longer in the actual note, haven’t been for years. It doesn’t seem like there’s a way to decide which photo is used for the thumbnail. Anyway, now I’m going to print out three notes with the same title that seem to be in conflict… to compare them all and see which one is the most current. I thought before I wasted my time on something so stupid I’d leave a crap review. I hate paying for something that doesn’t do what it supposed to do. I suppose while we’re on it, the search function used to work perfectly, you enter in a word and you get the note that you were looking for with that word. Not so much anymore, now I almost always get exactly not what I’m looking for and have a hard time finding what I’m looking for.
Earlier iterations far better
by Lilyanne421 on 2022/03/24 00:46
I’ve been using Evernote since it first introduced the premium edition, many years ago. It’s on all my computers & devices. I like that it easily syncs between all. But I don’t like its cumbersome newer attempts to be an entire ecosystem of multiple apps folded into one. That always means trade offs. Here, the lightweight speedy note taking portion is now weighed down with task management, messaging & collaborative work, calendars etc. Slack wannabe. Thank you but no thanks. The developers need to allow users to completely exclude all sorts of add-ons that undermine speedy notes & quick filing. Why couldn’t EN be delighted to be the best note & note filing app? The EN app is now so cumbersome now that it consumes a great long time simply to file a note. And this is on a new M1 iMac as well as older devices. And we lost our range of fonts & ease of choosing font & formatting options for notes. Plus more lost while aspiring to be what it wasn’t. I have nearly 2 decades of notes in the app but am keeping my eyes open for a dedicated note app that doesn’t aspire to be an ecosystem.
Unbelievably bad
by Summeryeah on 2022/03/23 12:48
Not only is the app extremely slow and crashing all the time, but the search and filter functions do not work at all. Even if you can see the notes, you will get “not note found” results if you try to find the notes through search (tag, contains...any way to search) or filter. And yes, you will be repeatedly asked to upgrade for the most basic functions. I’ve never seen an app that gets worse than Evernote. What a shame.

UI Overhaul on iOS is poorly tested
by Ari Live on 2022/03/22 02:49
I have subscribed and used Evernote since 2008. The recent overhaul of the User Interface is lagging horribly. While I appreciate NEW, I kinda hate it as implemented. The sync technologies are so slow that if I get out of the screen showing the bot is synchronizing, it is causing conflict copies. This is stupid and careless. Your engineering department needs to think in terms of real world and not “in a perfect world”. It makes me more inefficient as a paying subscriber - over $1209 of my own money and helped drive revenue for them by showing endless clients and family friends this great tool. Please show your users respect by developing with integrity to what the USERS need and not what UI nor UX people want inside the business, but the USERS. Responsiveness, speed and sync are super important and this current revision of the Evernote system is much slower on my iPhone11 with no other apps running and tons of free space. It is really important engineering and product management do not always go with NEW programming in replacement of stable and reliable. “New” is third or forth importance compared to reliable syncing, drawing of the II in the app and indexing

Not well designed for saving
by T-MAN AWESOME on 2022/03/17 14:57
As the app currently runs, you need to make sure to always exit a note after editing it and then refresh the folder it is in, or you end up creating a duplicate note. Very frustrating and leads me to usually just wait until I'm at my computer if I think of something I need to add to a note. If you just edit one of the notes through the "recent" section on the main page and then exit the app, it will almost always give you a duplicate.

Update 2022-03-15 Evernote is again on a rampage of creating duplicate notes. ——————————— Over the last 20 years I’ve observed that software that has fundamental problems continues to have those problems even decades later. Despite claiming to have a complete rewrite, Evernote continues to have the same problems. *** I have been looking for an Evernote replacement since 2017. *** Finally I settled on OneNote. I used OneNote from April 2021 to mid-December 2021. Evernote seemed to be syncing without producing duplicates. I ported notes back to Evernote. Alas, it soon began acting up. It would not sync. It also lost text that I had typed a few minutes before. *** SIGH. I wish they would get the FUNDAMENTALS right. *** Timely synchronization *** Do not create duplicates (Even using only one device it would create duplicates) *** A stable cursor. (It jumps to a new location after I have used another app) *** Bring back TOC creation *** Bring back the tab key. (Currently it acts an an indent key.) (Either Control-I or spaces is acceptable) *** Reminders were useful (I gave upon them a year or two ago) *** I would like to give Evernote 3 stars, but the problems are so pervasive and long lasting that I need to give it 1 Star. *** I am an evernote user since 2010 with over 10,000 notes.

I shouldn’t have to spend 10 minutes fighting with the app to write an note. Also I have a subscription so how about you stop asking me if I want to upgrade? It’s like the basics of programming and testing have been completely forgotten by the company that makes the app. Oh look at this thing, let’s add it to the app and not test the basics that everyone uses every day.

I’ve used Evernote for a few years now, and there are over 1100 documents I’ve made in the app. Recently, I’ve written a ten page document that totall destabilized the platform. This is t my first long document on Evernote, but this time entire sessions of edits were deleted. When I contacted support I got nowhere, and my requested refund has not been fully addressed. Find a more stable platform if your writing something more important than a grocery list.
Soooooooo buggy
by SWG2468 on 2022/03/14 02:33
I recently switched from OneNote to Evernote and I love the desktop app experience. That said, the iPhone app is unusable. It either freezes immediately when I open it or let’s me click the sidebar then freezes when I try to select a notebook. I understand there used to be an iOS widget and Siri integration too so it’s a bummer those aren’t in this version. That said, it’s the freezing that make me regret the massive migration I’ve undergone. 😥
Useful but imperfect
by DonPablo21 on 2018/11/21 13:50
This is still the best app for my needs, but it has plenty of annoying quirks. I've used Evernote for many years, with over 100 notes covering everything from the grocery list to future work plans to my son's college search. I find it helpful having access to all of these notes from my Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and being able to share certain notes with specific family members or colleagues. None of its competitors offers the same combination of selective note sharing, table creation and editing, and text formatting. Yet there are still quirks. Newly edited notes take a surprising amount of time to be saved, or must be saved manually - if you aren't careful about this and the note is later edited in another device, new versions of the note are created or sometimes appended to the end of the current note without warning you. Evernote on the Mac can change the font in notes, but not on iOS, and sometimes routine copy/pasting on iOS results in text with bizarre fonts that can't be fixed on that device. The use of Apple Data Detectors also means that anything Evernote thinks might be a phone number or calendar event is highlighted like a clickable link - I wish this could be turned off.
Fantastic update
by Danny888 on 2021/07/28 02:25
I just don’t understand some of negative reviews of Evernote’s latest update, which is fantastic. I have been using the app for years and am thrilled to see the innovation that the new leadership team is bringing about a year in. It looks like it took about a year to stabilize, and now new features are a’comin’. Tasks is game changing, and Gmail and Google calendar sync has boosted my productivity tremendously. I have been mainly using the web app but earlier this week updated my iPhone to this version. Immediately following the update I was having all sorts of issues getting my notes to load in the app. So I sent a support ticket to Evernote, called it a day, and accidentally left the app running overnight on my iPhone. To my delight I awakened to see a notification in the app that I had been successfully upgraded to then latest personal version. All of my notes suddenly appeared, and I have had a phenomenal experience with the app ever since. IMO nothing comes close to Evernote. I love Google, but Drive is where notes go to die. Evernote is where they flourish. I cannot say enough good things about this app and what I’m seeing from the company. It is extremely difficult to satisfy all existing customers while innovating and expanding the base. As a longtime user, however, I personally feel that the team is doing a tremendous job. Kudos!
Terrible Update
by Djstep1 on 2020/11/19 20:47
I’m a long-time Evernote user, and I use the app across multiple devices. I rely on it to organize notes and recipes, and also to track bookmarked articles that I want to reference later. The most recent iOS update has made the app completely unusable. Every action is painfully slow. It crashes often. And then when I finally get a note open (like a recipe, for example), if I switch between Evernote and another app, then Evernote completely restarts and I lose my place and have to search for the note again. This happens even if I switch apps for less then a minute. On top of that, I use Evernote primarily to bookmark webpages, not to clip them. When I open up a note, it’s unclear how to force the app to take me to the original webpage. Sometimes if I tap the note to edit it, Evernote launches its embedded browser (which is ridiculously slow). But other times when I tap the note, it goes into editing mode and there aren’t any options to navigate to the original webpage. I use Evernote to reference recipes several times a week, and I had to stop using my phone for that task. Instead, I search for the recipe using Google on my laptop because it’s faster. Obviously that totally defeats the purpose of having an app on my phone. I’ve never written an App Store review before, but I’m so disappointed in this update that I felt compelled to post something. Evernote is a great product, but this is a terrible app.
Lost photos I uploaded for recipes
by Turkey Sandwiches on 2018/01/06 19:23
I used to love Evernote until today. I bragged to all of my friends how great Evernote. I use it for many things including as a recipe storage. I am using Evernote basic. However, today the App lost 2 of my recipes. I’m very frustrated. I had a special pasta recipe I was going to make with my son. I saw the photo of the recipe on my phone and when I clicked on it and opened it up the photo disappeared. I can’t seem to get it back in any way. I think this is a terrible thing to have happened. I tried to organize my recipes electronically and pitched the hard copies. Now I have lost that recipe and another. I clicked on another recipe from the app and that photo disappeared as I opened it. I think I took these photos in 2015. The app worked fine for a recipe photo I took in 2017 this morning but it losing older photos. This is unacceptable. I stopped opening recipe notes and went to the webpage on my Mac to open other recipes and the browser version worked fine with the other pasta recipes I added the same day. But now I have wasted an hour trying to no avail to restore the image. Because I’m a basic user, I’m not even able to email customer support. The app appears to be garbage right now if it loses photos while the web browser does not. I’m so disappointed.
Steadily getting worse
by rolfejr on 2020/12/03 19:25
I've been a paying Evernote customer for many years with a lot of my stuff in there but as time has gone on it's been more and more frustrating to use. Attachments won't download. Or you wait 5 minutes while it "says" it is downloading then gets done and nothing happens. Photos won't show. Try to bring up some reference document while you are working on something and every time your phone times out the app just can't seem to handle it and won't just leave the document/note open you were looking at - you start all over - search for the document AGAIN, wait for it to come up, etc. Search inexplicably can't find things where the title or tag has the exact word in it I'm searching for. And there have been times where I have REALLY needed to get to particular piece of information and just couldn't. That is extremely frustrating - that's the point of why I put stuff in there. This product started out awesome in the days when everyone was still using desktops. As we've progressed into to mobile era it just hasn't kept up. Trying to access my stuff in the phone app is a frustrating experience almost every time - and trying to use the site in a mobile browser is worse. I haven't put anything new in for quite some time because it just no longer fits well or just doesn't work simply with how I do things anymore in the mobile era, let alone the fact that the app in general just doesn't work well.
Amazing customer service and great study tool

I love this app for taking notes for my classes. I’ve since used it as a weekly and monthly planner making organizing classes so much easier. I love that I can have all my class notes and planners all in one spot. It’s easy to navigate through as well. The formatting for taking notes makes it easy to follow along in class without having to worry about organizing my notes. I use the class notes template and there’s even a section for questions which I’ve found very helpful as I tend to think of things during lecture but usually at inappropriate times. This template allows me to quickly jot down thoughts so I can ask the professor after class. I’ve only just started to use this app but I’m sure I’ll be using this note taking app well into graduate school. I had to use cengage for one of my college classes and it offered a 6month free trial and after trying to redeem that I ended up being charged for the full annual price. I reached out to customer service and got a response almost immediately with a refund and they honored the free trial as well. I’m beyond happy with this fast service and doing the right thing, I fully expected to be charged the full amount. The only thing I’d love to see is different highlighter colors!
Extremely unreliable. Disregard for user habits
by FJH------- on 2020/11/20 03:29
I have been a loyal customer with 9000+ notes and 5+ years of premium subscription. The recent overhaul has introduced so many bugs and ridiculous design failures which are forcing me to consider alternative services. Sync has become extremely unreliable; I’ve had my edits wiped out by sync failures. As of now, Evernote isn’t letting me move my notes to different notebooks, due to some inexplicable bug. Very helpful features that provide flexibility to working on and organizing notes have been eliminated, I guess in the name of tidiness: opening multiple main windows, changing the created date (so helpful for arranging the notes in the order I want), magnifying the words in the editing window (which now cannot be done without magnifying everything else, making it unreasonably cumbersome to operate the sidebar). Then there are countless bugs throughout the software that keeps giving you frustrating surprises. The recent major upgrade demonstrates the team's disregard for the working habits of established users, and also raises concerns about quality control. In so many respects the new version simply isn't ready, and it's unclear to me why the company would be in a rush to release an update. An option for reverting to the older version would be much, much appreciated. Right now, I do not recommend Evernote to any new user. The company has demonstrated its inability to deliver a consistent and reliable product.
App going downhill
by Bernadette Minton on 2019/12/15 20:40
I’ve used Evernote for years, but lately thinking of switching. Major issues: (1) search function used to be awesome t has been getting worse and worse; lately it is missing simple matches such as plural vs singular, incorrect spellings etc. with all the text matching tech available today there is no excuse for this poor level of word matching. (2) I store all my recipes in the app and a super common use case is to create list from a recipe and or switch between 2 or more recipes that I am making at the same time; Evernote behavior for both of these is very time-wasting. On my phone c every time I switch away from Evernote (to add some items to the shopping list) when I return to the recipe it starts me back at the top of the recipe again. Since many of my recipes are clipped from the web the actual recipe text may be V long due to clipping issues- so I may have to scroll 4-5-6 or more screens to get back to the list of ingredients. There’s just no excuse for losing y view location when I switch to another app for less than a minute. And most other apps are able to keep my view with no problem- for example e-commerce sites with long pages of product lists. In short Evernote should get the basics right before advanced “recommended items “ features that I don’t find particularly useful.
Life-Saver for Schoolwork!
by Anxious&Obsessed on 2020/04/11 06:45
I absolutely LOVE Evernote and it has been a life-saver with my schoolwork, especially since everything is going remote. The ability to pair it with Scannable— another favorite— and then convert my homework directly to a PDF saves my teachers and me a ton of time! I was snapping a picture of each page of my math assignment and then submitting every JPEG. Not only was it time consuming and tedious, but it looked terrible. With Evernote, I can scan all of my pages into one PDF document that my teacher can grade much more quickly and that I can submit much more easily. I especially love the Google Classroom feature that allows me to import Evernote PDFs directly to my assignments. My few requests are: 1. Allow ‘tabs’ within the notebooks. I have separate notebooks for each of my classes, but the ability to break down those notebooks even further into units or subjects would be awesome! 2. Allow importing to Canvas, Schoology, or other school apps. It would only improve this already incredible system! Thank you, Evernote, for making my life as a student and the lives of my teachers so much easier! Every student needs this app on their iPad or even phone, and I know it will be staying on mine.
Latest upgrade a total FAIL
by xray1000000 on 2021/01/11 01:04
I want to change my rating from one star to Zero. I CANNOT STRESS STRONGLY ENOUGH HOW THE LATEST UPDATE OF EVERNOTE HAS COMPLETELY FOULED UP WHAT USED TO BE A FAVORITE APP. DON’T YOU DEVELOPERS USE EVERNOTE? (BTW I never use all caps, but this app now makes me want to scream, and feel free to substitue another word that begins with F for ‘fouled’ in my above statement.) I have been a premium Evernote user for several years. I use it extensively, and have always found it easy to use. However, the new version just updated to my iPad and I am so unhappy. First of all, it is S-O-O-O S-L-O-W. It takes forever to open the app, and once open, forever to open a Note. I post a lot of articles from webpages or the Flipboard app, and in the previous version of Evernote, these appeared immediately to my list of notes. I just sent a short article to Evernote from Flipboard that took 22 minutes to load. Evernote just showed it in the Notes list with a spinning wheel of death. Man, I hate it when software engineers turn something that worked well and that I enjoyed using into something that just aggravates and annoys me. What a pity this has happened to Evernote. Afternote: in the tag list, the A-Z index has been removed, so to skip from Apple to Zebra tags requires scrolling through the entire tag list. Why do you redesign features to make them less user optimized? My former Evernote rating of 5 stars has been reduced to one.
Desktop App Needs Better Security
by Mark Nosrati on 2019/09/23 06:46
I absolutely love Evernote. I’ve been a premium member since 2012. One of my biggest complaints that they still have not addressed is the security issues. Specifically relating to the desktop app. The mobile version allows you to set a time that it automatically logs you out. Unfortunately, the desktop doesn’t. That leaves your content vulnerable to people who wish to access your content without your permission should you step away from your computer and forget to log out. Yes I know I could use a screensaver to achieve a similar layer of security but that blocks me from everything on my computer. I don’t know why this is possible on the mobile app but not in the desktop. Also, Evernote does not allow you to set additional layers of security for notes or notebooks. You can encrypt text in a note but it doesn’t save that password in an admin settings area. So if you forget or lose the password you lose access to your content. These are sloppy and unrefined security issue if you ask me. I believe Evernote should address these issues and by doing so it can add tremendous value to their overall product.
What were they thinking?
by Lehua10 on 2020/11/11 23:32
Premium user here. Tried to navigate around the new update and am so frustrated with it all. Cant customize the left hand menu - it always opens to all notes. Speaking of the search function! Didn’t they have any beta testers? The search is horrible! You put in a term and it gives suggestions, a few tags. It not a way to narrow to all notes with that term quickly. To search properly you have to use search language which requires a lot of extra typing. This version had made tags worthless as you either have to keep entering searches with each tag or you enter a keyword and a list of tags that include that keyword pops up but you can only select one tag at a time. Everything takes more clicks to find something, do something, or import something. They have also removed the ability to assign tags in the web clipper. Not sure of what they had in mind with this update, but this version is worthless for my purposes. I have over 2000 recipes in a notebook which are organized by tags. By removing the clipper ability to assign tags and the search filter by multiple tags this is pretty useless. Any suggestions on a replacement? Is there a way to restore to old version? If I wasn’t already invested with so many files I would definitely look for another note keeping app. They ruined it!
Don't pay for premium!
by miffedmusician on 2021/05/09 18:39
I have used Evernote premium for several years now. For the last few months this app has become so unstable that I find myself rarely using it anymore. I have already cancelled my subscription and have moved most of my collection to another software. The issues that I have had - and to this day I have not found a way to fix - are 1: Taking several minutes to load a note, no matter the size of the file, what the note contains, how long since last accessed, or which device I access from. Notes simply will not load. 2: I can no longer move notes to new notebooks. They are defaulting to my primary notebook but moving the note to another notebook simply will not work. 3: A few notebooks are shared with members of my work team for quickly sending information to each other. A few of my workers can't access the notebook anymore and I am unable to give them access again. No, I am not using an old device. I have the Iphone 12 pro Max and fully updated iOS. Internet at home and the office is at least 250Mb speeds, and there are no restrictions on the app through iOS settings. This app has become utterly useless and I'm annoyed that I stored so much data only to have Evernote fail for months now. Forums and other reviews tell me I not the only one having issues and apparently the devs don't seem to care.
Found a fix for issue below
by _nickname none on 2020/04/16 07:13
I’m not a paid user which means I’m allowed to have two devices connected to my account. I ONLY use my iPhone and MacBook. When I log into one and then try to log onto the second device, the second device says that I have to unsync a device to continue using it. If I’m logging in from my iPhone, Evernote will say that my MacBook and iPhone are already connected and that I need to remove one of them to use my iPhone.. Same thing happens when I log in from my MacBook. It’ll say my iPhone and MacBook are already connected and I’ll need to remove one of them to continue on my MacBook. I ONLY have two devices that I’ve ever connected to Evernote. For some reason, Evernote registers my devices as new ones every time I switch devices. I‘ve already used my two unsyncs this month and it’s only April 10th. Don’t be fooled — free users, you’re only allowed to use one device 🙄 I’ll be on the hunt for a replacement app. Edit: I found a fix! I logged onto Evernote through my web browser and revoked access to my “three” devices. Evernote will log you out of all devices and you’ll be able to sign in again. Not sure how how long this fix will last but for now, I’m able to use both my MacBook and phone. Edit 2: Evernote has confused my 2 devices as 3 again. I’ll be on the lookout for another app.
Customer Service
by Cocoleann on 2017/08/17 16:44
If you are looking for a company that has accessible customer service, look elsewhere. For many people, we don't realize how important customer service is until we are in a dire pickle, but, let me be the one to tell you, it is VERY important to have the option to speak with someone during those times of need. Evernote, on the other hand, doesn't seem to believe in customer accessibility or satisfaction. When having an issue with my billing account, I attempted to call the customer service number given on my bank statement only to be transferred to a voicemail telling me to leave my email address. The only form of communication they offer is through email or online chat. While that is great for younger people, there are other generations who would prefer speaking with an actual person to help deescalate the issue before it gets out of hand. It is also in their policy to not give refunds. My experience today was joining an online chat, being told there was nothing they could do for the extra $64 in charges they cost me, and to have a great day. I will be checking to make sure that the companies I choose to give my business to have a phone number I can call from now on to know they actually care about their customers. It also says something about a site that has almost as many 1 stars as 5 stars. Thanks for nothing, Evernote.
The new interface is everything I’ve always wanted!
by LizStAug on 2021/05/10 01:45
I’ve had Evernote since forever, and I have tons of stuff stored there. Occasionally I can actually find my things..but the chaos is my fault, because I’ve just dumped stuff in there and never organized it well. But the new home page interface does it all. I am truly impressed. It appears to work well cross-platform so I’m going to have at least one of my devices to open to the Evernote home page. It’s logical, visual, lets you look at and rationalize the information you have collected or uploaded, and lets you make notes on the fly that can help you understand exactly why you put that mysterious document there and if you really had anything in mind when you did it... Reading about the new Evernote, I found that some people make a journal entry or note a day and file it on Evernote, along with any relevant photos, etc. So I’m going to try that next...in the meantime, congratulations to the Evernote folks on taking a good program and making it great! They have really followed up and realized the potential of Evernote.
Missing basic features
by Starsigma on 2021/03/15 20:36
I used to use Evernote as it had a system for my notes both personal and work related. I could store information that I needed to reference later, etc. However it is not what I consider to be a well rounded app. As no app that makes you have to use another is considered all that great. Not being able to create reoccurring reminders is just ridiculous. This is a very basic feature for a task app to have. I simply stopped using the app altogether because I had to use other sources to make tasks and be reminded of especially when they are monthly or weekly repeating. I even periodically login just to see if this feature has been added, it hasn’t. The app really needs updated to meet this basic need, and no emailing repeating tasks to the user is not sufficient at all. As not every one is on their email constantly some only check certain times a day based on their schedules. The whole point of having an app that features task or to do items is to have push notifications for you to get reminded of the task or even projects you need to get done. No one should have to go in and manually set them up for every single day when they are repeating.
They broke it!
by Skippinder on 2021/03/03 16:31
Ok, so I’ve been a premium user with thousands of notes, and have been for years, and have recommended Evernote to everyone I know (to the extent that everyone at my last two workplaces is convinced that they pay me for marketing—or should, at any rate). But the iPhone app really has become quite unusable since the update a few months ago. Not only does it take eons to sync across devices (which it somehow suddenly can’t seem to be able to do anymore, despite having been able to for years), my biggest problem is the scanning. I used to use it extensively for scanning physical copies of documents i was working on. But not only have I not been able to do that (whatever they have done to tweak that, i now have to take ten photographs of a page to get something that is not blurred beyond legibility), what is infinitely worse is that there is only a 50% chance that any pictures you might have scanned will make it to Evernote. I.e. you can spend 30 minutes trying to take unblurred pictures of a few physical documents you are working with, Press ok, and half the time, find that the pictures have simply disappeared. I have stopped using the app on my iPhone altogether (because it is literally unusable), and am waiting for the day that developers decide to break the desktop app too.
Bring back native Dark Mode and fix time outs
by Deep derp dep on 2019/10/16 12:48
Longtime Pro user of Evernote and love it. It’s great for my dream journal and all the other notes I need to take as well. I just really wish you didn’t get rid of native dark mode in the app. I like using dark mode in Evernote regardless of what my iPhone is doing. It is just much easier on my eyes and I’ve been using it that way forever. I’ve seen similar requests in the reviews to bring it back, and it really doesn’t seem like a big deal to do. Please consider it, it was a great touch and details like that matter when you’ve been using them forever. Also the app times out MUCH quicker now. I have also seen many others annoyed about this in the reviews. I, too, will be doing research in another app or browser, and quickly move back and forth between that and Evernote to make notes. It used to be no problem, but after these last updates, it essentially times out immediately upon shifting from Evernote to a different app. Coming back to Evernote, it might not have even saved what I had just written and it’s back to the top. Please fix this! I’ll gladly change my rating to 5 stars once these bugs and features are fixed. Please listen to your customers or they’ll start moving to the competitors who do.
The latest “improvements” are not improvements
by ODGeek on 2021/05/04 18:16
I have used Evernote for many years and will continue to do so because it is the best way I’ve found to keep and organize notes of all kinds. But like many apps, the latest “improvements” are not improvements. For example, the default appearance, called “Home” is a mess. Before the default appearance was what now is found under “Notes.” It now requires two clicks to get to “Notes.” Before, when I wanted to add key words to a note, I selected the word, “keyword” and started typing the keyword in the text box provided. After each keyword, I typed a comma, and the keyword was added to the article, whether the keyword had been previously used or not. Now when I intend to add a keyword, I wait until the list of keywords pops up, and have to wait for it to find the keyword if it exists, or go through additional steps to add it if it does not. Adding more steps to get a job done is not an improvement. But it’s still the best app I’ve found for organizing notes - so I will continue to use it. I’ll just be more irritated about it while I do.
Recent update glitch
by Fotophile on 2021/11/22 18:39
The most recent update is stressing me out. Every note I make doesn’t auto save correctly and it’s erasing over half of my work. Internet connection is strong so I know it’s not an issue, it’s specifically auto updating after I’ve already saved my work and closed out after it shows it’s saved, so its erasing my work to a previous file on the cloud when I open it again. Stuff I save at 7am will auto update at 10:30am erasing half my stuff, even if I’m just opening a new note or a different project. Complete stress inducer when I have deadlines! I’m now copying my work to save it in another cloud system when I’m done here, which kinda makes this feel like a pointless subscription unless I just save it in Evernote and write it elsewhere. I’ve never had this problem, ever, as a 6 yr sub member jumping from four different devices in the same 15 minutes with no issues ever. Now it’s stressful! I love my options in Evernote compared to other online digital storage for writers. I’m on an iPad Air2 fully updated, T-Mobile service, please help! I don’t have issues accessing or saving writing on my other devices, only when I use this device app. Will update my review to reflect any resolved bug updates🙏🏻
Daily Staple, but has issues - 2nd Opinion
by icotteng on 2020/06/24 08:33
I concur with the reviewer who has a similar review title to my own. I use Evernote for literally all my writing and have for over 4 years. The desktop versions work beautifully for both Mac and Windows, but the iOS version is buggy and has been for the past year. These bugs seem like minor issues that should’ve been taken care of awhile ago, for such a popular, premium app. In addition to the app closing each time you switch to another app or you put your phone to sleep (as mentioned by the previous reviewer), the app also has major issues with bulletpoint/numbered lists, especially when you use nested lists, as I do literally all the time. It fails to number consecutive items after you’ve hit “return”, sometimes it deletes a number associated with a previous item, and it also shifts entire blocks of text left or right when no such justification should occur. Overall, I love the app, I just would like to see these persistent headaches solved in future versions.
Maybe time to switch
by riverwind91 on 2021/01/17 17:39
I have been using Evernote for probably ten years. A couple years ago when it started to limit two devices, I tolerated since two devices are mostly enough. Once in a long while when I need to use a third device just to take a random note, I’d go to website and do it there. Unfortunately yesterday when attempted to do so, I found web version is counting as a device and being limited as well. I don’t really want to complain since I’ve used the free service for that many years. I understand the need to monetize otherwise the company will just die. However, there are so many alternatives which do exact the same in slightly different ways, but free and probably better performance. I think Evernote have missed the best time to grow revenue. Or has it ever figured out the best way to make money? Ads, selling goods, anybody remember Evernotes selling socks? Forcing users to buy or harassing users with premium upgrades are suboptimal business practice. Maybe it’s time for me to explore other options and start to switch. I’m afraid that one day Evernote is going to limit users to one device, and eventually die to competition. Sad but this is a brutal market.
Was great, hope it will be again.
by Misterwarner on 2022/03/24 02:09
Part of the convenience of being able to use this on multiple devices.
Used to Praise this app
by azulpacifica🐚 on 2020/04/09 19:50
This app has been a well loved staple, it’s been an easy to use and search place to create multiple lists. I’ve amassed an extensive restaurant guide for the greater Phoenix and Tucson areas. It’s my go to assist for passwords, copy and paste text for my work. Suddenly, it logs me off. Every time I exit. Irritating, but not enough to change this well ingrained habit and love for the functionality of this app. It literally is a cornerstone of information I’ve stored for things I want to remember but don’t. When I log in, I have an iPad and the iPhone 6s Plus. Haven’t upgraded or changed devices, yet now my phone is being recognized as a different device. Only one phone. Don’t want to unsync the iPad because it has a keyboard attached. So I’ve been unsyncing the same ONE iPhone and yet the next day it saw it as a different iPhone, after the app installed a thing where you cannot unsync more than two times was enforced. Couple months later, and I am LOCKED out. It won’t let me even sign in with the previously approved devices. So now, I’m not allowed to access my personal notes because you want a fee from me? Maybe I can log in on the iPad next month and transfer all of my notes to an app which won’t my data hostage for a few dollars. You’ve lost a loving user of over 6 years.
Crucial to my lifestyle. One issue
by ChrisLee_38 on 2020/02/22 13:31
I love this app. The organization of notebooks is essential to my lifestyle. I use notebooks for school, work, and my writing hobby, as well as my songwriting. If evernote randomly vanished one day, I’d be in trouble. I absolutely love the app. I have it on my iPhone 6 and my Macbook. It works great on both, with one reoccurring bug. On the iPhone, the app crashes every time I lock my phone. Even if I lock it for 2 seconds just to test this theory, it will crash without fail. Fortunately, it ALWAYS saves the note before closing the app (props to you, devs). But because the app does use a hefty amount of battery while using it, I like to lock my phone between writing things down. But every time I do that, I have to launch the app again and load up the note. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but to no avail. That’s my only complaint. I encourage everyone in my circle to use the app. I’ve never paid a cent to use it, and I’m nowhere near where I need to be to require premium. So I find it’s well worth the app space and little glitches.
Wonderful app—watch consistency limited and spotty.
by gvmanderson7 on 2020/02/27 01:33
Love the app. Interface is amazing. Connectivity superb. However, there are only 20 spaces for notes available on the watch, and when you have 200 or so, that’s just not convenient. Also, though I have not submitted a customer service request and that may negate many individuals opinions and the value they place in this review, this is something that has manifested through multiple Apple Watch updates: the app on the watch will simply open up and show no notes. None whatsoever. I have tried syncing the app, I have tried updating the app, closing the app on the watch and phone and restarting both the watch and the phone...no dice. Definitely a minute bug that could be fixed and bring the Evernote app up to full potential. That and expand the number of notes available on the watch and make the search feature more effective as it has never found a note I was looking for when I used the voice command. But again, love the app, LOVE the app, just a few tweaks and we’re golden.
“Improvements” aren’t always improvements
by LoriNeis on 2021/05/15 00:16
I’m an Evernote long-hauler. User since 2012. I will say that i have wished i could easily switch to another note taking app for the past 18 months or so. SO MANY ISSUES. I used to be able to record meetings, take pictures of documents along the way and type notes seamlessly and without issue. Not anymore. The document scanner has a mind of it’s own so I’m having to take a number of scans before i get something useable. The recording tends to crash the whole app, so I’ve given up on even using that about 6 months ago. App crashing creating duplicate notes is a very common occurrence. When I reach out for help the hoops they make you jump through like “recreate the problem then send us a usage report” is NOT a good uses of my time since the problems are sporadic, so again, i give up and just work around the issue. Searching for a document has become so cumbersome and at times inaccurate, so i just give up and go through about 5 clicks to search through the directory. The new home screen is NOT at all useful or appealing to me. I should point out that i have a premium membership and primarily use Evernote on my iPad -occasionally accessing records on my iPhone and MacBook.
IOS Version 10.0.3. Is it Me?
by hmmn2 on 2020/10/10 23:01
I’ve used Evernote since March 2014. I updated to 10.0.3 a day ago & I regret it. I use Evernote on my IOS iphone & I use it a lot. Evernote on my phone was good before the update. One day after the update I learn that Evernote does not have PRINTING / ADOBE PDF feature as was in the version before the update. Also, the “Find in note” does not work in the notes created before the update but work in newly created notes. Printing & Find A Note are two features that I can’t do without. Evernote states in their documentation that PRINTING is not available yet in the IOS version. The new updated version does have some nice editing features such as undo & more highlight & font colors & font sizing capabilities. The inability to PRINT and the inability to make Adobe PDF’s is a game changer. I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I have almost 12,000 notes & for that reason, I’m hesitant to move on to something else. I’m disappointed in the latest update.
Great idea, great app, a number of annoying things
by amanante on 2019/06/21 04:04
It’s a great app. I would easily put 5/5 if not only for annoying little nuances that make it more difficult to use. I went online to see if any of the issues I experienced were already addressed in the past. Turns out, many of them were addressed a long time ago (like 5-6 years back) - and the Evernote team simply does not seem to care to fix them. For instance, tables are not mobile friendly. Like at all. You have to swipe back and forth to navigate. You can’t change the size of pictures. You can’t create a table on the app. There are only 3 font sizes. You can’t select thumbnail for your notebooks and notes, it selects it for you - which is pretty irritating. The size of annotations are not uniform which means they may appear smaller or bigger depending on the size of your picture.. Etcetera, etcetera... Evernote team! Is it that difficult to fix all of this?!? It’s been taking you guys years now. Maybe you should hire new developers?
NEVERnote - Almost
by DaManahjah on 2021/02/16 07:56
Another update and AGAIN the Reminder App Badge is STILL broken. Listen guys, I get it, you’re too stupid to have this work the first time, but after 4 updates it’s still as if you’re unable to find your own rear ends with both hands and a flashlight? This isn’t difficult guys - your app ALWAYS did this before the latest “let’s destroy our company” app update: 1. An App Badge shouldn’t appear until the date AND time have been broached. If I want to be Reminded at 10am I shouldn’t have a badge before then (12:00am, which your lazy design currently does EVERY time). If that’s too “over your heads” just check out EVERY OTHER Reminder-type software ever created. I believe it’s possible that you’ll figure it out at some point. 2. The Reminder setting menu needs a day of the week reference in it, NOT JUST the month, date and time. Is it POSSIBLE that I might not know off the top of my head what date is a Monday 3 months from now? And is it POSSIBLE that my Reminders might have more to do with certain days of the week than they do with dates? Hmmm. Yeah, I bet that’s (again) why all other programs built for this kind of thing do that. Get a clue Evernote. You’re so close to becoming NEVERnote to me.
Security Breach - Please Read!
by JN896059 on 2020/07/24 21:53
This is a long review, but please read it before considering using Evernote. I have used Evernote for several years under the impression that information was secure. However, I received an email today telling me that someone had accessed my account in Brazil. After changing my password and looking into it, it shows a list of applications and ways that my account has been accessed since I opened the account in 2013. It shows that individuals from several different countries have been able to access and have accessed my account via phone as well as through the web. My account had been accessed several times within the last two months. I have never received a notification prior to today letting me know that my account was logged into in from an unfamiliar location or device. I have had several other apps/accounts that have been hacked over the last few months and many of the passwords to these accounts were listed in Evernote. Evernote is NOT secure. They do not monitor activity on your account nor do they alert you of potential hacking. I have chosen to delete my account and reset all information that was located in.
No customer service
by SoonerAce on 2017/10/05 15:47
So I've been using Evernote for over three years now and I really do love some of its features. However, two things really grind my gears. 1) When they changed to basic free accounts vs. paid upgrade accounts, we lost the ability to access on all devices as they limited basic users to two devices. I have it on my phone & laptop, so I can't have the app on my tablet. So I tried to access through the browser on my tablet and it wasn't "formatted" for that kind of access. Now it just forces you to the app store. Beyond irritating. 2) There's ZERO customer service. As a basic user, your only option is the user forum which has too many posts to read, and it's just users - not Evernote help desk. So how some rando user is supposed to answer my account-specific issue is beyond me. Not only that, but from what I see in the forums from paid users, Evernote takes weeks to respond to inquiries, if at all. So what's the point of upgrading to paid service? I don't understand how they run a successful user-based business without supporting the users. It's really disappointing because when functioning properly, it's a great product.
It’s a great tool
by doxzero on 2018/10/15 09:11
It’s a great tool for various different reasons. I think an interesting set of features would be a kind of automation, e.g., the ability to set up conditions so if I write certain words the note is added to certain folders or has certain reminders set to it or maybe even triggers a notification to specific people, etc. Also, something I think should be implemented is title caps in .… well, the TITLES of notes. Why is that not a thing? Or at least a toggleable setting? Lastly, why is it that the icon badge notification number is not at all connected to the actual trigger of the notification. I should open the app and it should be totally clear what the notification number is referring to, whether it’s reminders or updates or whatever. The user is just left adrift once he taps on the icon and then has no clue what triggered the notification. It’s just plain bad UX and your UX folks should really be talked to about that because it’s rather fundamental stuff they are missing.
Full of bugs; subscription not worth it.
by mark58929 on 2020/12/18 22:02
I’ve been using Evernote for about a year, but recently I got fed up with suffering the multiple bugs and functionality issues. I use this app primarily for keeping a grocery list and jotting down notes, but it seems like every other time I open my grocery checklist there is a sync error and I need to manually reconcile the two copies that Evernote saved. Additionally, the app “reloads” the page every time I switch away or lock/unlock the phone, which makes entering or editing notes incredibly painstaking. I use Evernote on two devices and occasionally access the web app on my laptop. The web app access was not previously counted as a “synced” device, but after a recent update Evernote has been forcing me to either subscribe to their premium service or unsync one of my devices. After this experience, I’m done dealing with this app. Why would I pay a monthly subscription for Evernote when my iPhone comes with two perfectly functional reminders/notes apps? Sure, they don’t have quite as many features, but at least they WORK!
Evernote still the best for organizing and searching
by MikeInCarrolltonTexas on 2018/09/07 02:36
I have tried OneNote a few times to see if it was as good as Evernote. OneNote has good editing tools within a note, but seems to be lacking when comes to FINDING your notes. I like Evernote’s search ability - select one ore more tags or a notebook - and then search within that context. I like that you can see Evernote’s list of tags at a glance on the left - and then quickly see a list of those notes that have that tag. And when you put in a search string, Evernote instantly shows you a list of notes that match, along with the first few lines of the note - even if what you’re searching for is within an embedded image (or PDF file since I have Premium). This ability to quickly find what you’re looking for within a thousand notes is critical for me. I don’t think ON is a replacement for Evernote for me - because of this alone. I hope Evernote stays afloat for a long time to come!
My most useful—and most flawed—app
by spcorcor on 2019/10/30 21:52
I have used Evernote as a paid user for almost its entire lifespan (>10 years). I use its desktop and iOS apps for nearly everything in my work and personal life. It is a wonderful tool. That said, Evernote is falling further and further behind its competition. The app is incredibly buggy and is in desperate need of a modernization and overhaul. Evernote has been promising this for years, but I wonder if that day will ever come. The current version in iOS 13.2 has one major bug that makes it *incredibly* difficult to use. If you are working in/on a note and move away from it for any amount of time—say to read an email, copy content from a web browser, or your auto-lock kicks in—you lose your place when you return to Evernote. At best, EN reloads your note and takes you to the top of the note when you return to it. At worst, EN takes you back to the “all notes” list where you have you navigate back to the note you were working in and find your place. This goes against all principles of basic multi-tasking and is a major productivity killer. My rating will be stuck at one star until this serious issue is resolved.
Could be better
by Wrobl1bn on 2020/09/16 11:51
So, as of this year I decided to take a swing at Evernote. At this point I've been using it for about 2 months and I have serval gripes. For starters there is only one color for highlighting, which is awful. There also isn't any intuitive way to insert tables that I've been able to find, luckily I've been able to get around this by pasting snips of them in from word but it's far from optimal. I'd also like to have sub-folders within groups. It'd be nice to have a general folder for a class and then subfolders for in-person lectures, online lectures, and notes from readings. Upsides are the tagging system, that's been rather nice to have in the absence of subfolders, the UI is also decent and I haven't had any issues with creating folders or navigating between them. Overall more downsides then upsides, and that's with the premium version. I'm likely going to return to simply using Onenote like I used to in a month or so at this rate. I'll hop back over again in a year to two to see if there were any changes.
Great app, but...
by Prsdc on 2021/08/18 02:04
This is one of the few apps I pay for, and use almost daily, but I certainly like the functionality of the laptop version better. One thing I use this for is shopping lists. I have standard items that I purchase from certain stores I frequent. So I created lists of those items with check boxes. I wish I could turn off the newer feature developers decided was an improvement: to cross out items that are checked off. This may be helpful in task completion but it is not helpful for shopping lists that one will be rereading periodically if one has to read thru all the cross off lines of the list. Another reviewer mentioned the inconvenience, while following a recipe stored on the phone, of the screen blacking out AND reverting to the main page of the app if it is not touched in a short time while you are prepping food. Maybe you could add a "lock on" option to the app that one could select when following recipes.
Staple app! Must have.
by R Shelley on 2020/03/02 19:42
I’ve had this app for years. I mean yeeears. I’ve used it across platforms and devices and it is seamless. I’ve never had it glitch or not work on each new phone I’ve purchased. At first, I only got it to take notes on the go when I was in military aviation. It helped me keep all unclassified tidbits in one safe space, but then I watched it and my need for it grow both over time and after I left the military for new professional endeavors. Other apps have tried to do something similar with their own novel touches, like Trello which I think is a decent app, but nothing has yet truly rivaled Evernote. Its easy to use and helps busy minds like mine to braindump everything into a tidy new entry while allowing me to build on it and reprioritize the contents along the way. I haven’t tried linking individuals for a shared group experience, like teams yet, but I am sure it would be a synch. It’s got pretty much everything you need from simple notes both with text and finger writing to scanning, audio, and video to checklists and more. Now that I am writing a book, it has become my writing research hub both on the go and while sitting at my computer. I open up a new web browser tab on my desktop and do everything I need to do right there with a click of the mouse. That way, I don’t need to transpose everything I am researching onto my phone a second time. Great app! Probably my favorite.
Two problems to fix
by BlindInsight on 2018/08/26 20:12
When taking a note, there are many problems with Voiceover. First, when swiping to the right, sometimes it skips over the title field & other times it skips over the multi-line text field. When typing in the field, you can’t move by letter or word & have it affect where the cursor is located. When The keyboard is brought up from simply looking at a note, the cursor is somewhere in the middle of the text already in it. Unlike most text fields, double tapping on it does not move the cursor to the start or the end of the text field. You also cannot listen to the entire note when the keyboard is available. This makes creating & editing notes inaccessible to Voiceover. Sharing to Evernote takes a long time after entering text & choosing the folder. Once I hit save, a loading icon is shown while I have to wait for a long time to share it. If these problems are solved, I will be satisfied with Evernote. Until Evernote is Voiceover accessible, I will use another note taking app that is accessible.
Supposedly Better, But Worse in Ways
by Alexander Hendrickson on 2021/02/02 03:36
Even though there have been a lot of upgrades and optimizations, one of the most frequent and pervasive issues in the official online support system and elsewhere is the CRITICAL fault of recent edits not being saved and being completely lost. This impacts the usability in a huge way, because whole edits and work done is frequently lost if you aren’t doing a constant backup tango that the previous version never required. And even when you do, sometimes it still loses it, especially when multitasking and switching between apps. Before the new upgrades, I never had to think to manually sync after every important change I made to a document, now I am hitting the check mark to close editing on a document (something the old version never had, and did fine without) and swiping down on the note list in order to force a sync to the web version sometimes every half paragraph or so, just to make sure I don’t lose a critical thought.
Revolutionized my leadership
by JETBatt on 2019/12/08 00:26
John Maxwell says that you should read, write, and file EVERYDAY. This unquestionably is the app which allows you to do just that. And best of all, it's free! Add copied text right into a new note. All your data is available on any device that you have Evernote installed. Move seamlessly between iPhone and multiple computers which are instantly synced. Just plain AWESOME!! As a pastor, this is an invaluable tool allowing me to keep a daily prayer journal, sermon ideas, prayer requests, and note taking all in the same program!!! As an adult with ADHD, Evernote is a place I can offload my brain, and get all those random thoughts, things I’m supposed to remember, and stuff I don’t want to forget, a place to land and be organized. It also provides for me a stable platform to GTD (Get Things Done) using available GTD templates which greatly aid in my focus and organization. I cannot write anything negative for Evernote. So I won't even try! Get it!
It’s ok
by hARTzteacher on 2021/04/23 10:53
I have ADHD. I’m also a teacher. I need lots of lists for various school and home tasks, easy ways to organize thoughts, places to put ideas for future lessons, and I need reminders, with due dates and times. This app seems to take a while to load. My adhd brain doesn’t have the patience or the focus to wait long when I have an idea. By the time it opens, I’ve often forgot what I was going to input! I’m not a fan of the layout and organization of the notes. I don’t find it easy to find the one I need quickly. I thought I’d like the quick scratch pad but then those notes get lost easy unless I delete the automated title and rename it. Then I have to click through menus in order to move it to the correct list because it automatically chooses for you. It’s an ok app but not meant for someone with quick ideas and many different lists to organize. The act of writing the notes in the correct spot is too cumbersome for someone busy and needing to work quickly and efficiently.
Very unreliable lately...
by Lara the iPhone Lover on 2021/11/11 20:00
...and I can’t even submit a support ticket thru the app, it just freezes when I tap the submit button. Notes are taking days to import from the web when I share a site to Evernote, and some notes that I have saved a document to are now blank. I’ve been a paid Premium member for years, and find this level of bugs unacceptable for a paid membership, especially since I have so many important notes and documents saved on the platform. Normally I wouldn’t air these issues in a review, but I haven’t been able to contact support directly. I’m hoping this bug gets worked out soon. And I also just paid my monthly membership but it is not updating so it still shows as a free membership and keeps prompting me to pay again and the pop up won’t let me access my notes. Tried to submit a support ticket for that too and it was very difficult to find where to do it, and when I did, a pop up about “Terms” prevented me from moving on because it did not display the full screen with no tab to move on. Come on Evernote…you can do better than this!
Used to love it but after most recent update HATE IT
by Dee Anders on 2020/09/24 20:01
I am veterinary resident. I have read a lot of journal articles, all of which come in the form a pdf. I am paying the annual subscription fee specifically for the pdf reading and annotation features. Evernote used to pretty good at this. I could upload the pdf into a note. If I opened the pdf, I could read, zoom, navigate and select and copy text. Now when I open the pdf, I can only zoom. With the old Evernote annotation function, I could zoom and navigate easily, then use the highlight function to highlight important text. Now in the annotation function I can not zoom making it harder to read and nearly impossible to highlight text. Additionally, in the old version a little summary of annotations and highlighted text would be generate, so the next time I opened that pdf I have a lovely little summary of the stuff that was important to me. None of this is available in the most recent update and I hate it. I gave feedback to the Evernote team during beta testing and recently after the new release, but they clearly aren’t listening.

Makes no sense but other than that Evernote is amazing.

by DJKyleMcFlurry on 2022/04/12 00:52
okay, so let me start off by saying that i LOVE this app!!! it has been so helpful for me!!! it is a bit tedious to set up a new note for every day (because i use it as a planner), seeing as how i can’t save a note template, but other than that i love it!! my one request would be that the app developers created a widget option for iphones, because that would be so so incredibly helpful!! but truly amazingly helpful app!!
Used to be my go to, can’t wait to replace
by skored on 2022/04/11 18:05
This used to be an amazing app. I touted Evernote for years, now I hate just about everything about it.

by CharlesEdwards_III on 2022/04/10 18:32
Don’t start using Evernote unless you’ve already been using it.
Buyer beware; this is not the Evernote of 5 or so years ago.

by Going back to the website. on 2022/04/06 23:26
Every new version of the software on the iPad, iPhone, and Mac is slower than the previous one.

It’s awesome again
by waselreins on 2022/03/30 13:37
After the growing pains of the overhaul last year or so, Evernote is awesome again. I’ve been using this app for over 10 years, I hope it continues to improve :)
Will change to 5 when fixed

Was great, hope it will be again.
by Misterwarner on 2022/03/24 02:09
Part of the convenience of being able to use this on multiple devices.

Great app very helpful for note taking

by Needs a 12 step mtg on 2022/03/15 19:00
Annoyed… no way to get help on website, or report problem; if I share a folder or a note is shared with me, when I click it it just takes me to the App Store to DL the app, which I already have, or to a blank page on website.

*** I am an evernote user since 2010 with over 10,000 notes.

by mocinha on 2022/03/15 05:14
I shouldn’t have to spend 10 minutes fighting with the app to write an note. Also I have a subscription so how about you stop asking me if I want to upgrade? It’s like the basics of programming and testing have been completely forgotten by the company that makes the app. Oh look at this thing, let’s add it to the app and not test the basics that everyone uses every day.
App freezing issues

Major problems … no real help from support
by one of Jesus' brothers on 2022/03/14 16:56
I’ve used Evernote for a few years now, and there are over 1100 documents I’ve made in the app.

Staple app! Must have.

Get it!
It’s ok
