Worth It For Plant Lovers!!
by koepkers on 2021/04/13 19:27
I saw this app on a Snapchat add and I decided to try it because I love plants. When I saw that it had a paid subscription and was hesitant to continue. I have the free trial right now and just starting out, I can already tell that the money will be well worth it. Sometimes stores don’t have IDs on plants so taking a picture of what you have is so awesome! I’m really excited to use this app and take care of all my plants!
Good with Room for Improvement
by Desperson on 2021/04/13 00:31
I really like this app, but the notifications function of the app consistently errors out on me. No matter how steadfast I am about tending to my plant children and marking their little water notes as “complete” that notification will resurrect itself later the same day and/or sometimes the next. This is all fine and inconsequential but should be noted as sort of annoying!
Not worth $50 annually

Unable now to identify several plants other free apps can.
Great app
by ahdjcoab on 2021/04/12 06:34
Just a little lacking with details such as specific frequency with fertilization for example. Wish they would add variegated info as well.
Love this app but..
by Laurenmarie165 on 2021/04/12 02:53
I love this app! It’s helped me really stay on top of my plant game but it keeps telling me to water plants I’ve already marked completed! Luckily I can remember but it’s frustrating because I don’t want to water my plants twice.

Plant care
by sarah2day on 2021/04/11 17:07
This app has very nice calming design. The plant search feature is handy as well but I have a lot of plants and I do find it a little annoying that I will get separate notifications for each plant on the same day...at the same time to water them. It would be nice if it recognized that there are multiple plants to water and send only 1 notification. So I’ll delete some, but while I was tying to do that, there are to many steps to delete a watering schedule, which I found frustrating and almost deleted to app because it seamed easier then hunting for the delete watering schedule. Also, maybe this is just me but I would like there to be some form of Home Screen... or home button. Pretty nice app though but maybe not $20 a year nice
Be aware before subscribing!
by Misha_Marie on 2021/04/11 15:59
I downloaded this app a few months ago and subscribed for the year. I added about 20 plants and had them all personalized and reminders set up for each of them. I used this app multiple times a day. My phone broke, so I had to upgrade and get a new one. The blossom app was one of the first apps I downloaded on the new phone because I wanted to make sure to keep up with my plants. I quickly realized there was no way to log in to an account. I emailed the support team and was told that the data is only saved on the device, not through an account. So all of my data is gone and the money I paid for the year subscription is wasted. I’m so disappointed and will not chance purchasing again.
I WANT to love this app but...
by sakpu on 2021/04/11 04:31
I bought this app after my mom died to try to keep her plants alive. It works great except once you set watering reminders, and click Complete when you have watered, the next day it will un-click that and make it look like you forgot to water your plants. I overwatered one or two because I couldn’t remember if I forgot to water it or if the app was just screwing up. I now realized that almost every day, you have to re-click complete on the last few days of watering just so the app knows it has been done. Also, It might work for a few days pretty good then all of a sudden I have 30 notifications that my plants watering is overdue... because all the waterings have been marked as incomplete. It completely defeats the purpose of the app.
too often watering
by mairilyna h on 2021/04/11 04:11
i more downloaded the app to just remind me when to water and not to tell me how often i’m supposed to (i know when they need it i just forget) but they the frequency is way too high. a philodendron does not need water 3 times a week. also you need a membership for everything. and they remind you

Great App!!
by CathPetty on 2021/04/10 20:07
My husband saw this app in an ad on Instagram and sent it to me thinking I would be interested. This is easily one of the best gardening apps I’ve used. Simple and pretty intuitive. Easy to add plants and manage their care. So many tips and tools for being the best plant parent!! Highly recommend.
Not worth it
by 🌙ustine on 2021/04/10 00:01
Opinion: it’s ridiculous to charge $4 a month for an app to give you notifications about watering your plants. You should be allowed unlimited watering reminders for free. I understand The subscription service for the extra feature such as identifying plants, but just for reminders of feeing the plants?! No. Because of this, I have no reason to use this app over my regular alarm.
?????????
by JayKay2784 on 2021/04/09 18:39
Doesn’t correctly identify a plant EVER. I want my money back. Doesn’t do anything that it claims it does, has not correctly identified a single plant, hasn’t helped with any plant issues. Thank the universe it wasn’t expensive, however I tried to cancel and STILL got charged and I’m very upset, waste of money in my opinion. Gardening tips are great, but the run of the mill tips you can get for free pretty much anywhere. So I wasted money and space on my phone. Will definitely be deleting this app.
Helpful App

Amazing life changing😍😍
by leothewonderpug instagram on 2021/04/08 01:27
I recently downloaded this app and I have not regretted my decision at all. I am a succulent nerd and I got an aloe very last summer. It started to wilt and die I got really worried because it’s my favorite plant and I did not know what to do until I saw the add for this app in tv and it changed my plant crisis! You can take the worst picture on the planet and it will still find your plant this works for flowers and succulents! I LOVE this app it also shows pictures of type of your plant for example my aloe. There’s a red aloe I did not know existed, and I found the exact type of aloe I have. The aloe I currently have is a soap aloe! I highly recommended this app you will never regret it I promise!😍😍🤩🤯♥️❤️

You don’t have to pay to put two plants in “your garden” I just kept clicking the X at the top left corner when the prompt would come up for 50% off. I’m going to try it for the two plants I inputted and I’ll update once I use the app longer!

You have to pay to access the app after only 3 days of trial. Thats it, 3 days ... too bad I am uninstalling right now because of that.
Great App but watering schedule needs some tweaking
by Morgan! on 2021/04/05 02:53
I like this app a lot, but when I water a plant late the countdown does not start over from the day I actually water. The countdown reverts back to the original date it should have been watered, so the next water alert comes too early.
"free trial"
by neonchurro on 2021/04/04 22:07

User Friendly App; Needs Work
by Attempted Horticilturist on 2021/04/04 16:08
I like this app because it’s very easy to use and has great detail on the plants that ARE identifiable. However, half the succulents and plants I’ve bought from various stores are unidentifiable. Even some of the plants where I’ve found the name of via Google are not listed in this app. Not sure if I’ll continue my subscription or not because of this reason.
Not an ‘smart’ app
by Awns on 2021/04/03 21:11
It is a dumb app to tell you when to water—if I forget to water today, it doesn’t automatically adjust the days. It does good recognizing plants but when you are putting reminders on, it should automatically suggest the water and fertilizer days with an option to edit. Right now you have to read the literature in another tab and input the days yourself.
Not a good app
by Stacy1186 on 2021/04/03 14:53
Wasn’t happy with the plant identifier option when trying to add plants to ‘my garden’. It must identified multiple plants.
Charged $40 in 2 days
by Mcbates333 on 2021/04/03 13:50
The app says there is a three day free trial. Something went wrong and I was charged $21.85 after I downloaded the app. This morning I was charged $21.85 three days later when I should have been charged after the free trial. I can’t find a customer service email to get my money back so I thought I would try here. I haven’t gotten to explore the app as much as I would like, and it didn’t help me identify two new plans I got earlier this week. This is why I don’t download plant identifying apps.
Failure to identify plants correctly

Your app not able to identify a few plants
by vaquita on 2021/04/02 18:47
Hi your app is good, but not good enough, first the app us not able to identify a few plants, also it does not recommend the amount of water for each plant so ad to not over water and third I would love to be able to add my own picture and the plant with the scientific name you don’t have on your app if I find it in the internet
Please add a clear all option!!
by mel.tx on 2021/04/02 18:20
I’m loving this application and all the information I could possibly need on most of the plants I have. I’ve noticed my plants doing so much better with a better watering schedule thanks to the app. I have one request though: PLEASE ADD A CLEAR ALL OPTION - this would be so helpful since I have so many plants there are some days I don’t check the app but I know I’ll still water my plants and it’s very tedious trying to get rid of the overdue reminders when they stack up past 40+ having to clear each one.

by JackieMarie87 on 2021/04/02 12:50
I bought a subscription and made an account so that my husband could care for our plants while I have to travel. I spent an hour logging all of our plants and reminders, logged on to our account on his phone, and all my plants were gone. Luckily my credit card refunded my money.
Not tropical fruit plants.
by Celo_saint on 2021/04/02 12:34
The sole reason why I downloaded this app was to learn how to take care of my acerola and Surinam cherry tree but neither are on this app.
Good but lacking variety
by spacebunzzz on 2021/04/02 07:53
This app has a lot of potential!! I paid the 19.99 for a year and I am excited to use this app, but I wish it had more plant varieties. It doesn’t have all the mints I have on my porch, or cat grass. There’s no scented geranium options or different varieties of strawberries. If they add to it often this app could be the best available!
Love
by R-Girl from LA on 2021/04/02 03:54
I really enjoy this app. It has helped me learn so much about picking proper plants for my home and my animals. How to care for them. It’s fantastic. Some updates I hope to see soon however, the ability to have push notifications for the care reminders would be awesome. Sometimes I forget to open the app, and I might miss a watering. When deleting reminders, it would be nice if there could be a mass delete option. Also a potential calendar view on the reminder tab. Seeing the reminders in list form can be a bit confusing at times. Mainly for quick glance. Other than that, I really love the format, the sleek and soft design, every other attribute is gorgeous.
Meh
by tonaufatlard on 2021/04/01 14:21
Could definitely be better. A lot of the plants I’m being into my home aren’t your average plants and the app was unable to identify them. Not knowing what they were lead to overwatering and loss of many of my new plant friends. When you take pictures of your plants it doesn’t tell you how to fix them, it gives you suggestions in the ‘about my plant’ section but none of those suggestions saved any of my plants. Don’t recommend actually spending money on this app. Way better apps out there.
Great concept
by UGHnicknamesarealltaken on 2021/04/01 11:26
Love the concept, but I don’t have a crazy collection and the app still didn’t have several of my plants. I understand the database may still be growing, but it would be helpful if they were at least a feature to manually add to keep track of the watering schedule. Having to keep one app for some plants and figure out another schedule for others kind of defeats the purpose of the streamlining with the app.
Don’t rely on it
by appleuser1892 on 2021/04/01 02:13
My plants were doing ok but I wanted to learn more and know when I should water them. I would just water when I remembered. Once I started following their recommendations (using reminders) all of my plants died. The plant identification is great, but I wouldn’t rely on the watering recommendation and reminders.
Not worth the price.
by cjmanni on 2021/03/31 23:37
I love the concept of this app. At first I loved the watering reminders. But every few days it “resets” and I get “overdue” notifications. I have to remember yes I did water that one yesterday and have gone back to using a calendar. A lot of plants that I have are not available For Identification from a picture or if I type in it’s common name I get something completely different. I tried “app support” but it sends me down a wormhole of advertisements for the developer’s other apps.
Charged and can’t even use it
by misha20847 on 2021/03/30 16:59
They charged me $20 even after I canceled the trial, emailed and they said they couldn’t do anything since I have an iPhone and it goes through apple. Fine. Went to look at my subscriptions through apple and I don’t see an active one for blossom to cancel or ask for a refund, tried to log in to blossom and I can’t, I’m not even sure which email was used, so I say forgot password and sent one to all my emails but never receive anything to reset pw or anything about my account so apparently I have a subscription even though it doesn’t show anywhere on my billing and also I can’t use it, great.
I like it but
by michpere193 on 2021/03/30 14:06
I really like the information provided on plants and other informational resources. I like being able to take note and attach photos to those notes. And updating the photo of my plant. But the reminders have become useless for me. They don’t take into account cloudy weather so you can’t skip a “ water day”. If you try to change frequency it messes up the history of watering which I’d like to keep. Im thinking of not using the reminders at all.frustrating because this is a paid app and I’d like to be able to use the functions I paid for.
Schedule Errors
by What not to app on 2021/03/30 01:18
App worked super well at first and I loved using it! What I paid seemed totally worth it until recently when the water scheduling is completely off and isn't registering when a plant has been watered. Kind of sad now about spending the money and haven't seen or heard of anyways for it to be fixed.
Don’t Waste Your Money!
by DylanK1996 on 2021/03/29 22:37
There are so many better plant apps for free! Don’t waste your money on the Blossom subscription. Their Plant ID is almost always wrong, and their Plant Care is just watering reminders. You can’t delay the watering reminders or view more than one reminder at once. It gives no reminders for fertilizing or light source suggestions. Don’t waste your money on this app!
Subscription Required
by Hippycannibal on 2021/03/29 15:34
I just need a reminder for plants and something help identify them. I don’t need a $10 subscription for that.
Plant identification is not accurate
by alacrity1996 on 2021/03/28 22:45
It does not do a great job at identifying plants. There are some plants I know that I am confident of the type, and this app identifies it as something that is no where near it. So, I can’t trust it to identify plants and succulents that I do not know.
Wonderful app!
by kaydence💕 on 2021/03/28 19:06
This app has saved me and my plants life! It can identify your plant, gives you information about your plant, notifies you when it’s time to water your plant, tells you how much sunlight your plant needs, and much more! It amazes me that all you have to do is take a picture of your plant and it gives you all of this information. I really recommend this app if you are trying to better understand how to take care of your plant!
It’s alright
by ashleyysotoo on 2021/03/26 06:16

Poor database and too frequent watering reminders
by suziblue725 on 2021/03/23 18:23
I purchased this app for a year, and I really wish I could’ve done a trial beforehand. It does keep a list of your plant, but you have to modify most of them from their identification database. It doesn’t recognize any varieties of plants - basic ones that you see frequently these days. For example all of my philodendron are just classified as philodendron. Some of the photo IDs are just funny, but way off. Still have to utilize other apps as this is one of the worst. Also I like the reminders and how they are easy to add, but I am received the watering reminders too frequently, based upon their recommendations - which if I followed them it would cause all my plants root rot. Please improve your app!! I like the interface and the look/feel of the app. You really need to look at the plant ID feature and the watering recommendations.
Blossom free
by feeling cheated22 on 2021/03/23 17:56
So this is the new game “free”APPS are not free!! you download to device then they hook you to sign up for a subscription before you can use the cheating app!!!!! I feel this is in the same level as being spammed
Neither free, nor useful
by Jenwebster1986 on 2021/03/23 14:50
Getting really tired of these “free” apps that don’t work at all without a premium subscription. Led to the app with an ad for “free” app for plant identification, clearly misleading. If you’re gonna charge for it anyway, just charge for the download.
Zero notifications
by Ratchel07 on 2021/03/23 04:19

Nice-looking app, works well for setting watering and other care reminders
by TeragramK on 2021/03/22 15:44
I saw an Instagram ad for this app and I love the interface and design, and I definitely need something to remind me to water my plants. However, the ID by photo feature doesn’t work at all. I take a picture and the app just sits there on the search screen. I know what most of my plants are so it isn’t a huge deal but I have a few that I got unlabeled and the search functionality beyond the photo ID leaves a lot to be desired (it would be great to be able to filter by, say, leaf shape). (EDIT: The developer suggested I update the app, and the photo ID feature is working now, although I would still like an expanded search functionality). I also cannot figure out a way to edit existing notifications. I accidentally set one for 5:30 AM instead of PM and can see no way to change that. There’s no edit button that I can find, and the help page is useless unless you’re looking for info about the plant ID feature or info about the subscription. (EDIT: The developer replied to me with an explanation of how to edit the notifications, so this complaint is moot!) I do, however, really like that I can check off that I watered it, and that I can add photos and notes in the app, and I love how nicely organized and easy to read the info for each plant is.
Good starter app but needs work
by Kaylak58 on 2021/03/21 23:21
The app is pretty and very easy to use. It definitely comes in handy for reminding me when to water and fertilize my plants. The info available in the entries is pretty basic but it’s enough for the casual plant person. While this app lets you track all sorts of indoor and outdoor plants, including flowers and trees, it still needs to flesh out its houseplant database a bit more. For that reason, the app may not serve hardcore houseplant enthusiasts very well. I’d like to see more entries for different houseplant species so that I can more easily keep track of the different plants in my garden. Sometimes care instructions are slightly different for different varieties. For example, there is an entry for a golden pothos but not for a marble queen or pothos N Joy (I happen to have 2). There is also only one blanket arrowhead vine entry even though there are dozens of beautiful species of Syngonium (such as albo, pink neon, confetti, cream allusion, white butterfly, etc) all of which look very different. Philodendron birkin also isn’t listed, which is a bit of an oversight in my opinion. It would be great if the app could also help troubleshoot common problems. I could take a picture of a problematic leaf or plant and the app could try to make suggestions. If that’s too complicated, maybe there could be a “Common Problems” section on the plant’s information page with example pictures of what the plant looks like when it’s overwatered, under watered, isn’t getting the right light, etc. Despite all this the app does have potential, it just needs more houseplant entries and maybe more specific information about each plant. And better photos. I knocked off another star (I’d give it a 3.5/5 if I could) because this app should NOT be subscription based. Just have one up front charge and call it a day.

I really wanted to like and use this app, but it has 0% accuracy when identifying any of my plants. It called my holly bush an ivy. Clueless and useless.
Not worth the $
by CharleneRamos on 2021/03/19 22:55
You can only use the free portion of this app on 3 plants... I have A LOT more than three plants. I’ll stick with my original app (picture this) where I can save all my plants- where it tells me if my plant is “off”/sick (and how to fix it) along with proper care information, propagation etc for $0 and use my calendar for watering reminders.
Only good for most common plants
by City Papa on 2021/03/19 15:08
Out of the three houseplants I tried to have it identify, it failed on all three. Seems to default to common plants, so would only be helpful for those who don’t know basics, and since it would probably misidentify things for this who would blindly trust, it’s probably not a great tool for them either...
Not impressed
by Free? Not so much on 2021/03/19 03:49
Perhaps I’d enjoy this app, but I just downloaded it because it was “free” only to discover that it’s not free at all after the trial period is over?! Now I find myself bumbling around your site to figure out how to get myself out of here before my trial ends. Grrr. 😡 You shouldn’t take advantage of people like this.

Filtering by zone, please!

I just got this app and so far, I really like it. I live in humid, hot ol’ Florida and I want to make a ‘Goth Garden’ in our front flowerbeds (this girl doesn’t do Florida colors 😉). I’m getting some ideas and this app is helpful, especially as one part of our flowerbed is full shade, but may I suggest adding a hardiness zone search in the filters? Sadly a lot of plants are out of the question because of the Florida heat, but I notice some of the plants in the app don’t even mention the zone for them. Also a search suggestion...drought-resistant plants. Winter & early spring is our dry season and it would be great to know what plants are suitable. Thank you

Disappointed
by latinainmedicine on 2021/03/16 17:22
I was so excited to use this app. I paid for premium subscription and my app now freezes and refuses to identify a plant by picture. I have just lost my money because I paid for premium and can’t even use the features. They don’t allow refunds for paid subscriptions, I can only cancel my next month.
False advertising
by Aliloui09 on 2021/03/16 13:47
I downloaded the app there was supposed to be a free 3 day trial when I subscribed I was automatically charged for the full year with no trial. The advertisement I saw showed the app diagnosed plant issues but once I got into the app I cannot locate that diagnosis anywhere. Basically feel like I was ripped off with false advertising. Very disappointed

Just make it a paid app
by Review Esq on 2021/03/15 21:49
This is a waste of a download if you actually want to use it. They should charge upfront because after you look up 2 plants it won’t work anymore. Seems like good info but they need to be upfront about costs. It’s worthless as a free app.

Does not work for identification
by auntietoadarts on 2021/03/12 19:25
The reminders are a great feature but it does not work for identification of plants. I tested it on several plants I have and it wasn’t even close. It identified my alocasia as a heart leaf philodendron and then a monstera deliciosa.

Helpful and motivating but could use some updates
by Musicmaker4321 on 2021/03/12 01:38
I just downloaded and subscribed to this app for 50% off. I really like that I can add the plants that I have to the “My Garden” section. I wish there were more plants to choose from to add to the “My Garden” section (I couldn’t find some simple basic plants in the list) or a place we could add our own plants for those not listed. For example, I have Roma tomatoes and it is not available in the “My Garden” section when I want to add it to my collection and I can’t manually add it either. I do like the feature of this app in which each plant I do add gives a lot of description on how to water, info on pests, soil, sun, and much more. I really like that you can set your own reminders of when to water each plant (it gives suggestions) and it breaks the schedule down by day for which plant needs to be watered when. In the informational article section, there is no search tab, which I was very surprised with. I hope there will be some updates in the future to this app and I look forward to using the helpful info I do find in the articles by just scrolling. I’m excited to learn from the information provided about each plant in the “My Garden” section in the app and the watering schedule and reminders.

I purchased this app thinking it would help me with my new plants. It has certainly great at identifying my plants I have and setting a water schedule. However, I was hoping it would also have the ability to submit care photos to determine what the plant needs when looking not quite right(black leaves, drooping, etc)
Have to pay
by Cheshia on 2021/03/10 17:07
You have to pay to really get reminders and plant identification. Not exactly helpful since we can set reminders and search for the plants for free online. Not helpful
Needs to be able to do photo identification too.
by Luv2bmum on 2021/03/10 05:34
I have been able to save all the indoor plants in my home and since I am a first time parent to indoor plants( love outdoor gardening) it’s a very helpful app. It does have a high error rate for recognition. Also I wish it had the ability to add images that we have found on the internet as sometimes I want to buy the same plant but I do not know the name- like a reverse search engine for plants.
Looks helpful- not sure it should be a subscription
by Mrsb729 on 2021/03/10 03:39
This honestly seems more suited to being a one time purchase. You may have plenty of people willing to pay $4/month but for the most part there will be now new usage. It’s a cyclical repetition as far as resourcefulness goes. Unless someone were adding a huge new variety of plants to their home each month, in which case, I doubt they’d have a need for this kind of app- they’re probably a master gardener, def not a novice. Either way. Think the concept is super cool.
Still needs some updates but really like it so far
by Ivy_snapdragon on 2021/01/31 23:56
I really like how this app is looking so far! I love the reminders and the ability to take cute notes and even photos of my plants. Obviously there is a lot of plants out there so there is still much work to be done in updating the database but there are many common plants available. It would be cool if we could send in plant photos with their common and botanical names to be reviewed for the possibility to be added to the database or to update photos of an already existing one as some of the photos don’t seem to match too well. Especially for the plants that have multiple cultivars. I think it would also be nice if we could move the plant tabs in our “garden” to organize them or put them in outside and inside sections. Dear developers, thank you for your hard work. As I continue to use the app is there a place for me to submit feedback?

I like this app....but
by tee-biscuits on 2020/06/28 11:59
I like that the app lets you track watering fertilizing and repoting the plant. You can enter a plant by name or with your camera. Many of plants it identifies has information about the care of the plant. Some things I don’t love and would like to see changed. Some plants are not in the app database and there does not appear to be a away to add them so you can put their care in your schedule. I had to add them under another plant name and rename them, but then the other plant is pictured instead of mine. It stores the pictures taken to identify the plant, I wish it would let you update the pictures of your plants as time goes by/you get a better picture. The only way I can see is to enter the whole plant again. If you own more then one type of the same plant it is difficult to differentiate them other then renaming (I own 3 types of snake plants but they are all entered under the same plant). Lastly some of the plant info and care instructions is pretty sparse a paragraph or less that gives no care info just a description of the plant.

I absolutely love this app!

I am obsessed with this app and rave about it to everyone. It is so useful and has helped me really get to know my plants better. I feel like I can take much better care of them because of all the information that Blossom provides! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there have been several times where the app either does not have the plant I am looking for. I have submitted one of them to the app for review so their plant library can expand but haven’t heard back yet. It has only been a few days, so I am excited to see it appear on the app. In addition to this, I have found that the app combines species together. For example, under “calathea spp” it has zebra plant, peacock plant, and rattlesnake plant, whose botanical names are calathea zebrina, calathea makoyana, and calathea lancifolia, respectively. Overall, I think this app is 100% worth the subscription, but I hope that the plant library increases and becomes more organized.
What am I paying for??
by SOЛЯРИS on 2020/08/31 16:14
The idea of the app is great, and I was so excited to get it. Then, of course, they tell you that you have to pay. I paid $30 per year, which is not too much, but still. Now, the last several plants that I added to “My garden” have no description whatsoever, but the link that directs you to the Wikipedia. There is no place to add you notes for each plant (like when you bought it, when it’s time to repot, etc). There is a reminder to water. That is all. If I have to go to Wikipedia to read about my plants and have a separate file on my phone with all the notes, the question is: WHAT AM I PAYING FOR? UPDATE: I have to update my review and give the app 4 stars. There is a room for an improvement still. However, Right after I submitted my review the update came out which mostly addressed the issues I was not happy with. Keep up the good work. Look forward to more fun features!
Deceptive
by Trish PB on 2020/07/13 14:56
I got this because it came up when I searched for a free app. I needed help identifying only 1 plant. When I went through the steps to download it, there was nothing that came up that said there was a fee associated with the app. I seem to remember it mentioning that there was an option to sign up for a yearly subscription, which I didn’t need or want. When searching on the app after downloading, there wasn’t a tab that showed my account info, my payment history/info, or that I signed up for a subscription, so I assumed it was ok to use. I only stumbled upon the email today when logging into my college email that I use for my Apple account. They sent an email about a free 3-day trial before being charged for a subscription. Any app I’ve had that cost something has a way to see what I signed up for within the app. This is ridiculously deceptive and costly. The developers knew exactly what they were doing when they set this up. Let’s see if I get the refund I requested...
Plant care
by sarah2day on 2021/04/11 17:07
This app has very nice calming design.
Blossom is awesome
by Planted and Confused on 2021/02/18 15:15
I am new to plant parenthood. With that said, there’s literally a MILLION different sites and social media platforms with people and articles that all claim to have “tips and tricks” or “myth busting” info, which just makes things all the more confusing. Blossom helps compile information and also tells you what is relevant for my area and types of plants I have. The date base can kinda limited, but a quick google search and you can enter in the correct Latin name of your plant and find a GOLD MINE of concise care tips. I’d recommend Blossom to other newbies like myself.
It’s Okay
by FantabulousnessO_o on 2021/01/27 04:27
I downloaded the app out of curiosity but deleted after day two (I would be billed for the subscription after the third day). The theme is very aesthetically pleasing and I think it did a good job of plant identification. It helps having the extra pictures provided when you are trying to identify your plant. The reminders are useful but the information about each plant varies, some have barely any information and some have very detailed descriptions and care advice. Overall not worth the money for how little you get. I already have a reminders app on my phone and the notes app for detailed information I need and the app doesn’t really offer much of value in addition. Having reminders and notes in one place would be nice but it’s just not convenient enough for $6 a month.
Reminders not working
by WTFluckey on 2020/07/28 02:05
Reminders aren’t working anymore. I had been using them for weeks to keep track of my plant care and for the most part, everything was good. However I checked the app earlier today, saw that I had 4 plants that I forgot to water yesterday, so they were overdue and I completed them. Other than those overdue reminders, the app showed no other reminders for today. Later in the day, I got notifications for new plants that needed watered today AND reminders to water the 4 overdue plants again tomorrow (they are on a 7-day watering cycle so this doesn’t make sense). Now I cannot rely on the reminders to know when I need to do things and I don’t feel confident that the app is tracking things correctly. Going back to keeping track with pen and paper :(
I WANT to love this app but...
by sakpu on 2021/04/11 04:31
I bought this app after my mom died to try to keep her plants alive.
Still charged after canceling subscription
by AlocasiaLover on 2021/02/08 16:29
I used the free trail and canceled the subscription 24hrs is the trial ended. I was still charged for the app the next and see an additional charge pending... That said, the overall use of the app was well and helpful. It gives much better info than other plant apps which I liked because I have a lot of plants. The accuracy on identifying the plants also seemed better than other apps. I also liked that I can set care reminders. I actually considered renewing the subscription, but after the unSauthorized charge, I’m not sure I trust them. I can’t have an app on my phone that will continue to charge me double after an ended subscription.

I was beyond excited to get this app as I have started quite the collection of plants myself. However, many of them were bought in pre-made arrangements at the store, so I’ve always been curious what they were and how to nest care for them. So off I went and downloaded the app, then fell into the trap of the 50% off premium deal. But I’m not quite sure what I paid for, or why. So far, over half of my plants have been unidentifiable and I know for a fact they are fairly common house plants that should absolutely be on the app. Yet here I sit with little to know information beyond what I had before downloading the app and left to wonder why in the world I paid for this. I’m usually not the person who leaves reviews, but I feel like I should warn people that this seems like a waste of money.

Great premise, not helpful if you’re not a subscriber
by ssasee1 on 2020/06/29 00:07
I must have been on an older version previously and that one worked beautifully without constant hounding to upgrade to the Subscribers version. This time I opened it to try and identify a specific type of Viola, and not only did it give my a different plant, it then pushed me to subscribe. I don’t recall dealing with that before. I would have no problem paying for a good plant ID app upfront (after a trial use of say 20 ID’s) but to ask for $6.99 a month when I have yet to see an accurate ID, is too steep for my budget. I like the functionality of it and it’s user friendly for less tech savvy patrons, but I will be deleting it- since it’s virtually useless for my needs. If you want to pay for plant care reminders etc... the. This is a good app for you.
Please add a clear all option!!

This app was great and helpful But I Don’t recommend. I was testing it out around my house to see if it could identify certain plants that even I didn’t know. I was excited to start using it for its real purpose when the notification came up that I had used all three of my free photos and that I would have to pay if I wanted to continue. This is a good app if you’re willing to pay the price and it does help you with actual gardening but if you are just using it to see if it can help you like I was then I don’t recommend it OR you’d you 3 vary carefully.
Not worth it.
by dropdeadabedidit on 2020/04/12 19:18
The idea is great, but it doesn't have options to add photos to your garden for your specific plants and its Species library is not vast enough, i tried entering three of my plants and it either didn’t know what they were by the photos or simply didn't even have the species logged by searching the name; and it doesn’t allow you to add your plants without using the app to ID them. Maybe in a couple years they'll get this updated, for now i’ll just ID them using the internet and my plant guide and put reminders on the calendar. Maybe they’ll get linked with iNaturalist/Seek or something and share resources, or just let individuals add to the library with their own care inputs and add comments for updating care instructions. For now It’s not super useful.
Used to be a good app
by blairierre on 2021/03/04 19:12
The info about plants was always a little off but that was ok. I’ve been using this app for about a year to track watering and pruning and re potting etc but now they made an update where it “warns” you in red letters when something hasn’t been watered? As if plants need watered every week and every plant can be on a schedule? Now when you check off a watering it automatically checks off the waterings you intentionally missed the weeks previous so now it’s impossible to tell when the last time it was watered. They obviously don’t know much about plants which is fine but I liked being able to track waterings. I’ve never left a bad review in my life but this is some horse dookie- try Vera by Bloomscape I’m very pleased with them so far.
Feels like scam for subscription money
by theeinfamousanna on 2021/01/07 23:38
I downloaded this app a couple months ago. First of all the recognition software didn’t correctly identify half of my plants, there was one plant that was gifted to me, that couldn’t be identified. I submitted the photo, and asked for help in identifying it. The response was along the lines of thanking me for my submission. No further information nor time frame in which it would be provided so I followed up a couple weeks later, asking when I would be receiving more info. No response. You market yourselves as plant identification software and can’t even do that correctly. Customer service is appalling, if existent. Exactly what is the subscription paying for? Why am I paying you to provide you content? DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY on this SCAM!
Be aware before subscribing!

Good but could be better
by ShaisGrrl on 2020/09/25 03:38
The concept is great and it works well provided you have the plant that has the most information. For example, on the Monstera Adansoii there’s quite a bit of information as to the plant’s care, but the Aluminum plant...nada. Thanks for describing the Aluminum plant, but where is the care information? I have 14 plants ranging from an African violet to a Monstera and various succulents in between. So far finding info on plant care has been a hit or miss. Also those of us using the app are not botanists, it should be more user friendly, e.g. looking up a plant by “String of Bananas” not Curio radicans. The app has great potential, but as of now, it’s very much a work in progress.

It’s a good idea for an app but unfortunately I can’t count on the less common plants being in the DB. My Alocasia Lutea and my Mahonia are not in the DB at all today, and in fact nothing comes up when I search. I wish that all plants were available, even if it was just a simple link to the Wikipedia site or something. Usually the generic Genus of plant will maybe be available in layman terms (not necessarily the actual plant name), but not necessarily all the different species which can differ in care. I’d say this is good for more beginners but maybe not as developed yet for people who want more info and detail.
I almost love it
by koholjsj on 2020/06/27 18:24
It’s almost exactly what I need but it doesn’t quite get there. I’m looking for a program that has a larger catalog all of the different things I plant in my gardens. The problem with this – just for me of course – is it does not have a full catalog of plants, so many of the things I’ve planted this year are not in their inventory (ie Calamagrostis, specific species of hibiscus, the arborvitae lyonsville to name a few). It lets me add things to my garden but with no details – such as when I planted it or how it’s doing, which garden it’s in or where I bought it. This is the piece I’m looking for the most and would be very helpful.
Wait for it...

I had tried ALL of the free plant care apps available and each was lacking in some way. When I didn’t purchase this app at full price, it offered me 1 year for $5.99, so I decided to risk it. I am very happy I did. I no longer need to use a combination of two apps to cover all my needs. This one does everything except monitor my location’s climate/weather. It’s great and easy to use. Good for beginners and the most advanced plant people.
Some additions I’d like to see
by Smaashy on 2020/07/26 11:07
I really like the app. I like the reminders etc. but there are a few features I’d love to see added. Sometimes when I try to identify my plants by taking a photo it shows me the wrong plant. I’ll then type the name of the plant instead but when I do that i cannot add my own photo. I wish that I could search the plant by typing. But still add my on photo. I also wish there could be a feature where you could add multiple images to one plant. Maybe I would like to see the the process of it growing or changing colors etc.
Great app for a plant lover!
by Варька⛄️ on 2021/02/21 05:34
I totally love this app! It has some lovely features like naming your plants, searching for the new plants, adding them to your wishlist, and my favorite - the ability to write notes every day and make pictures of your plants! You can also set up the reminders for watering or fertilizing your plants. I absolutely love the design, and even if you can’t get Premium subscription - it is very awesome!! Thank you 🌿
Cute app, too basic
by Abbey.vigil on 2020/04/30 03:46
The app is nice, easy to use, but it doesn’t have information on the majority of my houseplants. And I don’t have anything crazy either. Like no information on a fiddle leaf fig plant other than a cutesy little bio about how they are finicky - and that you should place these in “your knowledge area of your home” whatever that means. I know they are finicky, that’s why I got this application. I was hoping it could give me some information. If it was free, I would be more patient but right now I’m not paying for such an incomplete app.
Ummmm... ok
by KatieRaye2731 on 2021/01/07 02:54
So I saw this and was like omg! What an awesome idea! Super creative... so of course I downloaded the app... to my disappointment I have to pay in my opinion a pretty big sum of money just to be able to take pictures of my plants to know what they are and how to take care of them... excuse me I have my plant nursery down the street help with that kind of stuff for free, and there are plenty of other apps that can do this for free also, this is just a more fancy one that wants to take money... I’ve never written a review before for a app but this was a waste of my time! Seriously 3 pictures for free then you have to pay? I deleted this app in a matter of 30 minutes sorry.
What is the subscription for?
by Tmosesb on 2020/09/04 21:21
Thought this app was a great idea and worth the price to keep my plants alive as I purchase more indoor plants, but then realized that I can only add plants to my garden and get watering reminders? That’s great and all, but the reason I got this app was for the knowledge of how MUCH to water, how OFTEN to water, when do I leave it outside, etc? I still had to pay for this app and check google on how to maintain the life of the plant. Thought the monthly payment would help avoid this issue, which defeats the purpose of a paid plant app altogether. Bummer!
Ugh, stupid me
by mynylife on 2020/06/06 18:08
Not sure how I accidentally signed up for a one year subscription, but that's my own fault. I do normally really like The Spruce and figured they were they wouldn't put their name on a bad app. Tried out the photo search, with plants where I knew what they were, and the app got 3 out of 5 id's wrong. And the search for info about various not-very-exotic plants yielded "we're still digging up info." They might as well put up the 🤷‍♀️shrugging emoji, as I see that most critical reviews here are answered with the same vague, automated reply. It gets 2 stars because the calendar is somewhat useful. SO not worth the money.
You can’t fix perfect
by vet-77 on 2020/07/05 11:18
I love it this is really helping me a great deal. I live in Washington state so I have a lot of my plants mail to me from nurseries throughout different areas. They send you a booklet but many times you can’t identify the plant that you bought so you don’t know how to take care of it. I am definitely new to this and this app is really a big help thank you guys so much!! Jeff🌲🐞👍
Just okay
by Abeckabeth on 2020/06/28 16:00
I’m a bit upset because I paid a year subscription for this app but it hasn’t been able to identify a few of my house plants. I’ve submitted the photos to help the app developers, but I have another app that works much better. I appreciate that this app gives care instructions, which the other app doesn’t. I’ve manually added the houseplants Blossom couldn’t identify to my garden so I still have care instructions. I just wish the identification software was better and this app would be 5 stars.
Good, but
by arcticgrape on 2020/08/13 14:20
This is a really nice app. I love the search bar, reminders, the plant collection, and all the information that it provides about the plant. I’ve been struggling to decide whether I should get premium for this app or for “Picture This” This app does not give me the scientific classification that “Picture This” does. If it had that feature then it would be a whole lot better, and the same goes for “Picture This” as they lack a plant search section.
Wrong identification of plants
by Bratt_77 on 2020/09/08 18:37
I have only began to start using this app. The idea behind this app is great! I have tons of plants that I would love to have a library for. Unfortunately, I have already received more than 5 wrong identifications of my plants. I have emailed a few incorrect identifications to the support email in hopes that it will improve this app. Another improvement that can be made is to add in the nick name of plants and not just the botanical name. I have another plant identifier app which is free and it is way more accurate!
Awesome program but...
by Keeperthe on 2020/05/07 21:50
I would rather pay once and not have to pay for a program monthly or yearly. BUT- this program is so awesome! So far it has been spot on with all the plants I have tried. I went back and purchased this App and if you are curious about the what the name of the plant, flower, and even bush, you need to try this App! I’m so impressed!
Meh
by tonaufatlard on 2021/04/01 14:21
Could definitely be better.
It’s ok, not enough plants in data base
by dee1692 on 2021/03/08 01:37
Just like my title says, there’s not a whole lot of plants in its database as of yet. I do like the reminders of when to water and being able to add notes and pictures. But I have many plants that it can’t identify and many I have searched for but nothing comes up. I have sent my photos and recommended plants in to customer service. I hope they begin to add more variety soon. Then I will be able to give 5 stars.
I like it - but it needs work
by PJjr on 2020/06/28 23:36
I subscribed because it was on sale and I am a neophyte gardener who needs help. The photo identification is awesome, though I was surprised it couldn’t identify my basil seedlings. The details on each plant a very sparse and so I hope there will be investment in building out the content. For one of my plants there was no content at all other than the name and a picture. I’ll revisit this in a year and update accordingly. So far I’m satisfied but eager to see this built out more.
It’s okay
by Sggsvbgnk on 2020/12/22 21:46
Honestly I really enjoyed this app as a newbie plant owner and it was very helpful. However, over the time that I acquired more “rare” plants or different variations of plants it became less useful. Everything gets grouped into a “master group” like philodendron birkin into heartleaf philodendron or all the monstera types just “monstera”. It’s just not as specific as I would like now. If you’re brand new to plants and need basic care then it’s great. If you’re 40+ plants deep in your house, don’t bother.
Awful
by Dolorlar on 2020/05/26 17:18
Used up my 3 free snaps trying to identify my aloe vera plant. I knew it was an aloe vera plant and chose it as a sample to try out the app to decide if it was worth the purchase, which is the whole idea of a free trial version.. but as I said, this app failed to identify my plant and they wouldn’t let me take photos of anything else. Maybe provide more than 3 photos for free??? I need to see how the app works before I invest into it and it failed on the first try.. this app looked so promising, some positive reviews and its Spruce so I was expecting something great, And I need the reminders for watering and care and what not.. oh well...
