Harry Potter: wizards unite
Description
From the makers of Pokémon GO, Harry Potter: wizards unite is the real-world augmented reality (AR) game inspired by the Wizarding World that puts magic in the hands of players worldwide. Harry Potter: wizards unite is co-developed and co-published by Niantic, Inc. and WB Games San Francisco as part of Portkey Games, a label dedicated to creating new Wizarding World mobile and video games inspired by J.K. Rowling's original stories that place players at the center of their own adventure. Realize Your Wizarding Potential A calamity has befallen the wizarding world, causing Foundables—magical artefacts, creatures, people, and even memories—to mysteriously appear in the Muggle world. As a new recruit of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, you’ll work with witches and wizards from across the globe to solve the mystery of The Calamity and keep magic safe from Muggle eyes. The Magic Is All Around You As you step outside and explore the world, the Map will reveal Traces of magic that indicate the location of Foundables. These Traces are found at various real-world locations and trigger richly detailed 3D encounters in full 360-degree advanced AR. You’ll need to cast a variety of spells to defeat the confounding magic surrounding the Foundables in order to safely return them to the wizarding world. Keep an eye out for other things that will aid you on your journey including Inns that replenish Spell Energy, ingredients that can be used to brew potions, and even Portkeys that can whisk you away to iconic wizarding world locations. Stronger United Gather your friends to take on even bigger magical feats such as Wizarding Challenges, real-time cooperative multiplayer battles against dangerous foes. To overcome the stronger threats and discover rarer Foundables, you’ll need to team up and strategize with your fellow witches and wizards and specialize in different magical Professions—Auror, Magizoologist, and Professor—that each have their own unique skills and abilities that come in handy at different times. Ready your wand, alert your friends, and be ready to protect the wizarding world from a global calamity. Your Wizarding adventure awaits! Stay tuned for the latest at WizardsUnite.com
Fun game but wizard challenge won’t load
by Unknown1.2 on 2019/12/06 23:06
Wizard challenge keeps forcing a restart of the app. I’ve tried everything from signing out to uninstalling the app. No resolution found.

I have many friends who like this game and get a lot of enjoyment out of it. So I downloaded it, gave my birthday and then was unable to create an account because I prefer not to give Facebook or Google more of my data. I’ll try it again and revise this review if/when I can either Sign In with Apple or just create an account with my email address.
Awesome,but...
by dgyicrujdthvdy on 2019/12/06 21:34
Its a great game but it is so hard to get money though.
Hoping for further development
by MackAttack2110 on 2019/12/06 19:45
While I enjoy the concept of the game and it has been improved some in its few months of existence, it still falls short in many ways for me. Thinks for the developers to yet consider: The game glitches a LOT. From GPS drifting to frequent crashes, this is the main reason for my lower rating. I have lost many rewards in the game, both purchased and not, but have yet to be given any sort of a helpful answer or correction from the in game help. Activity rewards only are rewarded for the walking time when the game is actively running. If I switch off the battery save mode to walk around town with the game running, my iPhone battery drains in less than an hour. If I don't actively run the game, I don’t open my portkeys. There are daily rewards given which are great, but some of the daily rewards you receive are the same as the level 3 achievement awards, which makes it less appealing to try to finish the achievements which would give the game a deeper value. The books and scrolls are given out in such drastically different amounts. In two weeks time I have earned over 300 scrolls, but no books which means those scrolls are useless to me. These are things I feel should have been thought out more carefully before the game was launched. Finally, as is with your games, this game can not be played in rural areas. While the potion for trace detection goes to fix this issue, with no way to gather spell energy, ingredients, and a spawn rate of an average of ten spawns per use, it isn’t feasible to rely on this to play the game. Hoping to see further development and improvements as this would be a fun way to spend family time.
Still no adventure sync
by Sweetangel4066 on 2019/12/06 15:14
The game is fun to play, but there are some issues as written in previous reviews. My issue with it is that I play Pokémon GO which is made by the same company and you can hatch eggs by linking with the health app without having the game open. This game does not yet have that feature so you have to have the game open to open up portkeys. Also this game takes up a lot of space on the phone. I have a 32GB iPhone 7 and it takes up 2GB. So if you have an older phone, make sure you have the space. Otherwise, a great game.
Great, but some annoyances
by girl424 on 2019/12/06 06:12
Fun game, thought there are some annoyances. Such as when you just get to the next level, some of the foundables I swear are harder and waste spell energy (and sometimes end up departing) and that at night there domes to be an increased chance of resistance and departures. Honestly I think that is intentional to waste your spell energy to try to get you to go out at night to get more or just buy spell energy, which is annoying if you’ve gathered the max you can carry to get you through the night without having to walk around in the dark
No distance tracking
by Mehsue on 2019/12/06 03:56
I walked over a mile today and it gave me 0.09 total. This is infuriating! If I am going out of my way to complete the distance factor and it’s not working, I never get my daily goals met. This is disheartening to say the least. Fix it!
Keep trying but to no avail...
by Agjudd on 2019/12/06 00:28
This game has become more annoying than anything...I play less and less. Hate that as you get stronger some things don’t improve. Too many departing ones, multiple spells on easy targets. Losing interest
Enjoyable enough
by Chirsgghjjdguhgdg on 2019/12/06 00:27
A fun enough game though I can see very early on the limits to the main play mode of spell casting. I doubt it will be a long-term play.
Cash cow
by maz@?! on 2019/12/05 19:14
I find this game costing a lot of money if you let it. This event has the foundables extremely hard to catch using a lot spell energy. I’ve been stuck on 2/4 cuz the only thing I’m getting are invitations. I need gifts Niantic!!! I’m all most ready to delete!! Very frustrating!! More so then pogo!!
Totally un-useable
by Grin4kittt on 2019/12/05 05:02
Totally stupid the need to tie the use of anything to either Google’s Gustopo, or Facebook’ Fools. Can’t even start game without having your personal life being spread across the globe for every crook and hacker. Don’t use this game! Apple should ban this game for violating privacy! Don’t bother to load and waste any space on your device! I complained to the developers over a year ago! No change in having to create accounts in unsafe places in order to use. Don’t do it!
Trace Success Algorithm needs adjustment
by Number 17 Large on 2019/12/05 00:19
At level 35, it seems like the return success rate for traces is lower than when I first started playing. Anything rated as “Medium” tends to be only a 50/50 chance for success, even with a Great or Masterful cast. “High” feels like 20%, and anything above is basically impossible without a Potent Exstimulo. When a player performs 10+ Great or better casts in a row without a single return, the chances or rage-quitting go through the roof. Why is the success rate so low?
Aggravated
by Ace2393 on 2019/12/04 23:55
These brilliant events are way too difficult no matter what potions you use you can’t catch the calamities you have to use at least 15 energy before catching them. The events are just frustrating they’re not even fun
New event has somehow broken things
by RicketyCat on 2019/12/04 21:48
It has done what says on the tin. However, since the push of the current event, it has lost the code line requesting access to the camera making portkeys impossible. (Everything is set in privacy, but the page to actually allow does not list WU) It will also not recognize inns as in-range when I’m standing on top of them _after_ the game has opened them. I write these problems here because there is no official site or in-game error reporting feature. Currently, this game is barely playable.
stop making me free promo
by xiionnnn on 2019/12/04 13:39
i really don’t like how lately one of the first tasks of the Special Events is to make more friends. i don’t know that many ppl who play the game & i keep having to ask ppl to be my friend & it’s really a hassle. so if we could please stop doing that that’d be great. i’d don’t like being free promo for you guys. fun game tho i like the different events

Tedious, with little reward
by BillJin on 2019/12/03 20:50
There is a difference between challenging and tedious and this game has not figured it out. The amount of effort, the number of casts, the fact that keys are single use, how little energy you get at stops... I played Pokémon go for years and there are many noticeable differences that make it far less tedious. This is too much. They need to adjust just both the catch algorithm and consider how much it costs for single use items. At least in GO I could use an incubator three times. The tedious nature just ruins the fun.
Great game but...
by Oliver Timecraft on 2019/12/03 20:44
My son and I play this game and absolutely love it. My only complaint is that as of the last few events, making a new friend in the game has become mandatory rather than optional to make progress. Of the 4 stages, the requirement appears in the very first one, making my son incredibly frustrated because he can’t make any progress. His friends already play the game so he feels like his only option is to talk to strangers that play the game. I assume the recent change to these events is their attempt to promote the game but given that it’s a game meant for a younger audience, I think it’s a reckless and dangerous move by WB that needlessly puts our children at risk. Please return to having friends be entirely optional rather than motivate our children to reach out to strangers every week for a baseless requirement. Other than that, we both truly love the game and have had a great time seeing it grow since the release.
A bit misleading
by Noli oli on 2019/12/03 20:22
I thoroughly enjoyed the first 20ish levels. But after that point, the “easier” spells and catching confoundables never manifested. Items I normally could get with 2-3 energy, I’m now using 5 or more energy in addition to potions. I’m also not a fan of having to “make new friends” for each challenge - sounds like this is just a gimmick to drive up users rather than an actual “challenge.”
Love the game
by mamaklondike on 2019/12/03 20:18
I only wish there was a way to connect it to adventure sync. I don’t always have a charging station, nor battery enough to run with the app open all day. Otherwise: it’s great fun! I’m enjoying it very much!
Stop forcing social aspect of game
by Jekylnhyde on 2019/12/03 19:49
The whole fun of this style game is the solitude. Stop forcing social interactions with “make a friend”. Missions. Just going to drive people out of the game.
What are the code name requirements???
by an agrrivated consumer on 2019/12/03 19:46
Literally cannot get past the code name part. No matter what i put in it tells me it doesn’t meet the code name requirements, but doesn’t tell you what those requirements are???? Please update and include the requirements 🙄

Level Stealer
by yoda4grace on 2019/12/03 03:22
As much as I’ve enjoyed playing and increasing my registered items, December first saw the worst of the game. All of my levels, resources, and earnings were gone in a flash. I’ve tried logging in and every suggestion on the internet with no success. No need to be disappointed with this game. The relationship is over. Thankfully, books never lose their levels.
Fun game, but some suggestions?
by Mae " on 2019/12/03 02:07
This game provides wonderful graphics, character development, and etc. Although we start of with 25 energy and the number of energy your restored gradually increases, it would be nice to have the option to buy more energy with coins. I find myself in the middle of lessons not being able to finish them in the time I am given because I am running out of energy. I also find myself not to wealthy in gems so it would do and help a lot being able to buy energy with coins. Other than that this game is absolutely amazing, I love it!
Fun, challenging, top graphics
by Shawnaem206415 on 2019/12/02 17:53
I’ve been playing HP everyday since its release and I’m now on level 30. They’ve also made some great improvements over the last few months. However I have been getting a little bored with it and haven’t played like I used to. The funnest part about this game is the events, which gives you challenges and the only chance to get green books, but the last challenge I stopped playing because I had to add new friends. I have tried to talk everyone I know into playing this game and they all quit on me. HP will never have the amount of players as Pokémon so they shouldn’t try to make it all about adding friends, but I think that’s were the makers are trying to take it. Not sure why they can’t just let it be a solo game. I also can’t complete my sos because I have to fight a fortress with 3 players. Are you kidding me? I rarely see a fortress with even one player in it. And lately I never see any fortresses being used at all, even in the city, so I’ll never get to play the sos again. Hopefully the new event coming up will be possible to complete without some friend adding stuff, if not I’ll have to retire at level 30.
Errors and Bugs
by _Ocelot- on 2019/12/01 23:48
I started playing this game several weeks ago after getting the new iPhone 11 pro. I have never been able to enter a fortress. Every single time I try the app crashes. I have tried updates, I have tried downloading all the assets, I have tried power cycling my phone, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and I have reported this every time it happens. And I still can’t enter fortresses. I’m at a point where I can’t continue completing quests because they all require fighting in fortresses.
Awesome game but only one complaint
by Talon419 on 2019/12/01 22:25
I would like if the game had the same character customization like in Pokémon GO where the person walking around had that same depth instead of the color change. Now that would be great!
Fun but Notifications are annoying and not enough stops
by Sarahrae1227 on 2019/12/01 21:44
Need more various stops in the map. Also I don’t play the game nearly as often as I would do to the notifications. I have to click through every notification prior to starting to the game, then go back through and accept them all. Notifications are a nuisance to playing the game. I like Wizards unite better than Pokémon go overall but will opt for PG due to the notifications.
To much parents permission 🛑
by Enter._.a._.Nickname. on 2019/12/01 17:09

I was very happy to play the game and was looking forward to it too. But then I was logging it and I couldn’t even get into the home page. What the heck!!! They made it impossible to login with the keyboard being so big you can’t even write, I tried to rotate it but it didn’t work. So I tried downloading it again but the same thing happened! I was getting frustrated so I decided to give up and delete the game.. please fix this bug, I was really looking forward to this game.

Patience ran out
by DrNaho on 2019/11/30 04:16
I have to keep the app open while walking and it never tracks properly. Today, I had 100% when I started out and closed it at 32% battery. How many km did it log? .5. That is all… My Pokémon GO clocked me at almost 6 km’s! I don’t know how much longer we’re supposed to stick to the game when we can’t even open our Portkeys.

ADD ADVENTURE SYNC
by AndyGurl87 on 2019/11/27 18:58
I love absolutely everything about this game except for Portkeys. Please add adventure sync like you have for Pokémon Go. I do not have the time/data to keep the app open at all times just to crack a portkey. It takes FOREVER. You have the technology, please make it happen.
Love-hate relationship
by Coldlettuce on 2019/11/27 14:51
I love all thing HP, and I really enjoy this game, but...I have some serious dislikes, too... 1) energy; there is one in about 1/2 mile from my home...I can’t walk there every day, and it’s awkward to stop there in my way to/home from work. 2) Portkeys: they used to work fine. After the latest update, I need to “allow camera access;” however, THERE IS NO WAY TO DO THIS IN SETTINGS. I have a bunch of portkeys (5 ready to use, one almost unlocked) and I can’t use them! 3) I know PokemonGo had the ability to track distance w/o the app being open, using device data. Why can’t WU do this, as well? I can’t keep my phone charged with the app running in the background to catch all my steps! Edited to add...now I’m having issues during Wizarding challenges. I just lost a LEVEL FIVE runestone because there was a “server error”...what the HECK?!?!?
Screen blacks out
by cPIPER1268 on 2019/11/27 09:20

Frustrated. Please help!
by KaseyNae on 2019/11/27 03:36
I have put a couple hundred dollars into this game. I was on level 26 yesterday. When I opened the app today it restarted me to the very beginning. Literally, HUNDREDS of dollars. This is the ONLY game I play. At all. And I don’t know what happened but I would really like an explanation. I had 25 friends, level 26, hundreds of dollars and hours put in to this game. All to be erased randomly? Can I please get advice on who I should contact?! I’m so frustrated and upset. I’m seriously distraught over this. I know it seems silly but it’s the ONE frivolous thing I spend money on. Can someone please help me?

Good Game but a few bugs
by AppleUser12003847 on 2019/11/26 05:44
The AR(Augmented Reality) was very buggy and had a few glitches I personally think they should add more detail to this game. The gameplay was fun and not as glitch as the AR. Overall, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is a good game.

Where is adventure sync?
by Coopermeister on 2019/11/24 19:25
I’d give this 5 stars, but the biggest feature is missing. I don’t want to have my phone out constantly when playing, so I find myself playing this game less and less because of how annoying it is. Please add! It’s already on Pokémon go and has been for a while, so how hard is it to add to Wizards unite?
Doesn’t EVEN let me move
by AngelLala1230 on 2019/11/24 19:07
😡😡😡😡
Meh. It’s a mobile game.
by mynameistiff on 2019/11/24 18:58
This is only okay. The game is buggy as hell and kind of repetitive. It’s fun if you have friends to play with, not so much when you’re a solo player. Especially when the game achievements depend on you not playing solo. Forcing social interaction in a game not many people play is a load of dung.
Great game when it works
by Rocketeer8 on 2019/11/24 18:51
The game itself is great and they keep players attention by adding new events and features fairly frequently. But the app crashed a lot. Generally I have to close and restart several times a day and as of right now I keep getting a message that here’s a problem with the wireless network and to restart, which gets me back to the same error screen. This was an issue in April and again in July but didn’t impact me. Then all of a sudden, with no change to my OS or he app, now it won’t connect.
It was good but then it reset my progress
by Coridae on 2019/11/24 16:54
I hadn’t played in a while, went to log in, and and found that the game had lost all my progress, which included deleting in-app purchases. Their online support around this is basically nonexistent. It makes the game unreliable and worthless.

I’m a wizard!
by LinaGirl26 on 2019/11/24 13:28
Fun game that makes you feel as if you’re part of the HP franchise. However, I took off a star for the incessant bugs that just seem to get overlooked each update. My app has started crashing each time I tap my picture for my Ministry ID. I’ll also combine that lost star with the fact that you still have to enter your spell multiple times - even after receiving a Masterful! If I’m so masterful at executing my spell, shouldn’t the confoundable depart? Instead I waste more spell energy and the confoundable departs on a Fair. Weird. Otherwise, tons of fun!
Looks fun but...

Fantastic! I adore this game
by rebecca.medicineeagle on 2019/11/23 19:47
I cannot say enough great things about this game- I love the fact that it’s mobile and I can play on the go, plus it’s very accurate and follows HP canon closely. There are not a lot of bugs or glitches, but when something does go wonky the Devs at Niantic correct the problem expeditiously which certainly builds trust with the Company. I play this game sun up to sun down- love it!!

Can’t play without WiFi
by jlashay1218 on 2019/11/23 16:57
I really love this game! It’s super fun. I would give a 5 of 5 but every time I try to play this game outside of WiFi it doesn’t load and keeps saying wireless network connection. I have unlimited data and never go over so their isn’t a reason it shouldn’t be loading. It’s upsetting because I can’t enjoy the game outside the house so I feel like I’m not getting the full benefit and fun of the game. PLEASE fix this!! Thank you!

🔴 Infected with Red Dot Virus 🔴
by WmH2 on 2019/11/23 10:45
The red dots in the game have gotten so bad, that the local Facebook page calls it the “Red Dot Virus”. 🔴 Updated, still too many red dots, specially in the portrait area. You now have to clear the dots every 15 minutes. It’s really bad. Spamming red dots on unless portrait feature. Ugh. I don’t care to know every single time a new filter or sticker is able on my picture... I loved the first one that I took... and now it’s gone because of the harassment of having to go thought all these stupid features every time you open the app. I can never get it back because I was on vacation and had the perfect back ground. Since we can’t load previous pictures from our camera roll, it’s now gone. 😢

Biased against solo players

Foundables keep scrambling their previous locations
by AhoyAndrea on 2019/11/21 14:56
I, like many, was extremely excited to hear a Harry Potter game such as this was coming out. I downloaded it as soon as I woke up the day it released. Unfortunately though, I have many of the same complaints as others - energy runs out quick but it would be very helpful if we gained energy back over time, game lags and closes out often, it takes up SO much memory on my phone compared to every single other app I have downloaded, it uses a lot of data and heats up my phone within a few minutes which never happens otherwise.... so I’m waiting for the game to go through a bunch of updates before I download this again. It has so much potential and I know Disney/Niantic will make sure this eventually is as awesome as it deserves to be. My biggest concern though, is the location of the foundables on the map. It’s quite frustrating that they are constantly switching places and do not stay set where they appeared. Whenever I go into an encounter and then go back to the main map, almost every single foundable around me has moved or switched places with another. Leaving me to basically blindly click on every single one repeatedly trying to find something new. But I’m mostly just reopening the same ones over and over because they keep moving around! What gives? Pokémon Go does not have this issue with their map, the Pokémon that appear pretty much stay where they are no matter how many times I pop into a Gym or a Stop. Not to mention that the Pokémon I’ve already encountered and ran away from tend to have a little ring around them as a nifty reminder that I’ve already encountered them. So helpful! I went through a few reviews of this game and was surprised to not see anyone else mention the scrambling of the foundables yet... but if Niantic could create an update that made it closely resemble the map and Pokémon encounters in PoGo, then I’d be much more likely to download this game again. Until then, I’ll just sit in disappointment while I wait...
The Best Game App Ever
by Inisheil on 2019/11/21 02:02
I love playing it since it came out, and it gets better every time they update stuff. The community day and the quests are so addictively fun. The bonuses, the daily quest, cooking potion (love it!), looking for ingredients, combats, collecting runs.. and now the gifts!! Love love it. Keep it coming! ❤️👍🏼
Community Day Time issue

by whitsaki on 2019/11/20 20:03
At first I loved playing but I’m getting pretty irritated. Almost every time I go into challenges they take forever to load to the point I never even get to “fight” and I’m defeated because all it does is stay on the black page and loads. That load time shouldn’t count against you because you have no control over the app being slow and not loading. I’m just about to quit playing because half the game is doing the challenges to get the rewards. I’ve wasted at least five high value stones because the game won’t load but it still takes the stone as if it was used. And that’s only my biggest complaint among other smaller inconveniences. Update: it’s getting worse with each update they do. The app keeps shutting down so I can’t even play. Every 10-15 seconds the app just shuts down like I wasn’t even in it and the few times it’s stayed open long enough for me to play as soon as I open my portkey it shuts down Every Single Time! So frustrating. And it’s during an event so I can’t even do the event things because it just shuts down so they need to fix the bug and should extend the event since the game is unplayable.
I cannot get the game to load
by cml9191 on 2019/11/20 12:41
I so badly want to play, but I can’t get the game to open past the loading page. I’ve tried everything. I’ve deleted and re-downloaded the game. I have updated it every time it’s needed to be updated. My phone software is up to date. I have tried the different things they say to do online and nothing has worked.

This is a fantastic game. Much more depth than its predecessor from the same designer (Niantic). This is my only active iPhone game, my only wish is a larger player base. People invested in the earlier game, and the pogo players dint know what they are missing. The learning curve it a bit deeper than pogo, but it’s so worth it. While you swap over, great wizards in a great AR world are waiting for you.
Changes are improvements

Update 11/19: Well, every time there is an update I have to delete the app and reload it. But at least I can still play! Update: I used to be able to play on my phone but the new updates have overloaded it and now it won’t play due to my phone being full. Unless I empty my phone of every other app (which is what I did last time) and then reload them, I can’t play any more. Major bummer. I will miss it. The vast majority of the changes made in the updates over the last month have made the game easier to understand and access the information you want. For example, putting the energy level right on the main screen instead of hiding it in the vault. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get ANY unicorn hair in over a week and a half, even in portkeys, which is where I used to find it. Instead it keeps giving me lame stuff that I can pick up on any street like grainian or abraxan hair or scurvy grass or lovage! I haven’t been able to get toadstools either unless I can manage to pick it out of the greenhouse before someone else once I’ve grown it. Update: I said that about unicorn hair, and then with the dragon eggs it popped out of just one of the 8 portkeys I opened tonight. Update: the unicorn hair has been slightly easier to achieve in portkeys. Which I appreciate.
Not that great

I’m a die hard Harry Potter fan, and this app is really disappointing. A big thing that y’all missed out on was the customization; of which there is none. The wizard that you control is not you, it’s just some grayed-out figure. At least in Pokémon go, the point of the game is to get rare Pokémon, show them to your friends, and battle with them. All you get are stickers in this game. There’s nothing to show for what you do. Honestly disgracing the name of Harry Potter by making this name.
Not fun

Huge grind with no rewards. The game scales difficulty based on you spell power reserves. The more you have the harder it is to catch anything.

If egg incubators in Pokémon Go work three times, why can’t silver keys open three port keys? Acquiring a silver key is just too difficult in my opinion. Also, I wish there was was an app for my Apple Watch so I could get credit for all the walking I do at work where I’m not allowed to have my phone. If that were the case, my one gold key would be fine.

Too many glitches
by haedkals on 2019/11/18 19:37
Tbh it’s a great game, but it seems like anytime I try to play it not sitting still, not only does it glitch and never show me anything on the map, when it does and I go through and spellcast and overcome whatever marker I chose, it will freeze and never give me the credit because I have to exit the whole app in order to get it to work again. It’s kind of becoming pointless because the only time I play this game is in the car because you don’t get a lot of options sitting in the house but when you play it in the car every other mission doesn’t give me credit.
It’s a great game, needs some updates
by AdriStrickland on 2019/11/18 02:59
I’ve heard many times again and again that they’re going to incorporate steps from the health app into the game and they haven’t it’s a super bummer. I enjoy the independence you have when you play and you’re not limited to doing events/tasks with a minimum amount of people (like the raids in Pokémon go require). It does make it easier when you have more people to battle in fortresses but it’s not required, if you have enough potions you’ll be fine making your way through all the levels.

by Human 368219 on 2019/11/17 19:26
Two days ago, I probably would have given this game 3 or 4 stars, but as of yesterday it no longer loads. It has a black screen instead of the loading screen and then after a minute it gives an “unable to connect to server” message. I deleted and redownloaded the app and was able to complete part of community day, but now it’s doing the same thing again. :/ I’m severely unimpressed.

All in all I love this game. Can literally lose half a day to playing if not careful. However, after the latest update I can’t get any of my buttons on the screen to open. So I can’t look or collect any of the rewards for accomplishing tasks or use the opened portkeys. It’s extremely frustrating. Hoping the developers fix this soon as it’s not much of a game now.

by kmaroney13 on 2019/08/08 13:27
I started playing the game when it first came out. The creators have made many improvements over the last few months, but there are still quite a few bugs that need to be worked out. I have sent several messages about Confoundables being “whisked away by magic” and it seems to happen more frequently since the last update (and it seems to happen more frequently with the higher level Foundables). I’ve also experienced a lot of freezing, mostly in certain areas, which I have sent several messages about. The worst part is the disappearing and freezing happen after I’ve used potions and a lot of energy. Lastly, when I reached level 30, the game said Confoundables would be easier to overpower. I have found this to be the exact opposite. If anything, I am using more energy (even when casting multiple Great and Masterful spells). Before this latest update, though, I absolutely loved playing the game. It was a lot of fun, I walked so much more, and my family and I have spent more time together than we ever have before (we’re also Pokemon Go players). I just hope that the creators can fix these issues soon because we stopped playing Pokémon Go for a couple of years (after it first came out) because of some frustrating problems with the game. I don’t want to have to stop playing Wizards Unite, but I’m also not going to keep spending money to play when it’s more frustrating that fun.
Fantastic game, just two gripes
by phat weeb on 2019/07/20 02:11
I love the game mechanics, I think they’re brilliant, especially the fight sequences. The UI is easy to understand and navigate, and collecting items and such is a breeze. Which brings me to my first bit of criticism; the vaults. I’ve had to pass up rare items just because my vault was full, so I constantly have to use coins to make more powerful potions. I just wish we could get at least 25 slots extra in a future update, even that would be a huge life saver. My second bit of criticism, which, I’m 100% positive has everyone irked, is the spell energy. The nearest inn to me is a half a mile away, and as a teenager who spends most days sleeping in, I don’t have the stamina to walk there. I kid you not when I say that I almost fainted on the walk back home because I was so desperate for spell energy. I shouldn’t have to pass out on the sidewalk for such a minuscule amount of spell energy. Some people are even more unlucky, with the nearest inn being 2+ miles away. I saw a suggestion in a review saying that there should be a potion for increasing spell energy, which a great idea! If we can have potions that increase spell power, why not spell energy? But I’m far too obsessed with Harry Potter to quit playing, and I’m positive Niantic understands that many players feel the same way and that’s why they won’t change. But I would be SO much more active in this if ONLY spell energy was easier to obtain and ingredients easier(?) to store.
Good but…
by Veinexes Videos on 2019/06/23 19:10
It’s a great game though uses the developers strengths and ideas that they learn from Pokémon go to help them make an enjoyable experience. However, in my main argument is with the wizarding energy. For those who don’t know this is the energy that is required to cast spells, think of it like polka balls in Pokémon go you need to visit inns to recharge your energy by eating meals. You recharge is based on what meal you eat and can be anywhere from 2 to 10 points of energy, And can re-charge again every five minutes. You use up one energy every time you cast a spell whether it succeeds or not in capturing the confoundable. Your energy has a maximum amount of 75 so you can gain over this amount the part that I I’m slightly annoyed at is that energy does not re-charge normally even at a rate of say one per hour. Neither does it re-charge upon leveling up where as in Pokémon go you could be given at least maybe 10 to 20 balls when you level this sometimes forces you to either re-charge with the limited gold that you’re given or to camp outside in this until you’ve reached a good amount of energy. It’s more of a small annoyance than a dealbreaker but with the amount of times you have to sometimes cast at one target you can end up running very low on energy very quickly
Very fun, but could use some tweaks
by Tamillee on 2019/08/04 18:54
I really enjoy playing this game...it’s fun, I enjoy the story line, picking a profession, and all that stuff. However, there are a few things that I think would make the game significantly better. 1) It’s been said by many already—spell energy. Can their be other ways to obtain this? Specifically for people in rural areas where inns and greenhouse and few and far between. Can we earn like 1 spell energy every 30 minutes or something? It would be awesome to be able to wake up with a full energy bank each day, and would also make me want to play the game more frequently because I know that I could. 2) Can Masterful casts actually mean something? It’s pretty stupid that a low level threat can resist a masterful cast. What’s the point in trying to get a masterful cast if all you get is XP? There is literally no other perk, as it doesn’t at all seem to affect your likelihood of capturing a foundable. I have defeated a high level threat on a “good” cast, but had a low level threat depart after a masterful cast? Seems stupid and pointless to have casting ability only count toward XP. 3) Storage. I know this has been said by others as well, but it’s annoying to constantly have to delete ingredients/potions...particularly if you’re trying to stock up for a Wizard battle. I realize this is to make people spend actual money buying coin to increase their storage, but it really makes me want to play the game less...not more.
Really 3.5, but there’s no half option
by Vixen497 on 2019/09/01 19:38
I agree that it’s a lot of fun for Harry Potter fans, and there are a lot of fun features. But in the American version, it’s hard to find inns unless they’re literally right there (within a mile) because you can’t zoom out on the map in game to find an inn nearby (I.e. within 5 mi) (and the online maps don’t work well either). I also don’t like that the game isn’t as intuitive as Pokémon Go—there’s a learning curve, and right now I’m not sure what I’m doing or how to work things. It would be nice if here was somewhere to go to review the storyline as well, because there’s a lot of moving pieces and it’s a little hard to follow. Also, the graphics are shoddy in some places (especially the people—Ginny was very slender in the movies, yet she looks overweight in the graphics, Luna is only recognizable because she’s he only one that wears that hat, Neville does not look all there, etc.). and the profile pictures will update on our personal app, but our friends can’t see it (my husband and I play together, and we will have to show each other our phones to show each other our profile pics). I realize it’s like this in Pokémon Go too, but I also don’t like that you would regularly have to travel to different countries to get everything (e.g. that awesome opal eye dragon in about a week). So you would have to be incredibly rich to get everything. BUT there’s a lot to do and explore, and I am mostly having fun with it.
These are the real issues with the Game
by Need boxes on 2019/08/07 02:08
I’ve been playing daily since it’s release. Almost all reviews complain about the amount of energy. That is only a temporary issue. As you get more coins you increase your vault and can store more energy. The real issues are 1) play is tedious. You must tap on every single foundable just to see if it something you need or not. Frustrating and slows down play. 2) greenhouses are next to useless. Very awkward timing for harvesting ingredients after you plant them. I’ve only successfully accomplished this once. And most ingredients you need you can find anyway. If you play a lot remembering where you planted and when they are ready for harvest gets confusing. 3) about 50% of foundables disappear when you cast. Makes is difficult to get what you need and makes all the tapping on foundables that much more tedious. Wastes energy and potions. 4) Collecting the foundables actually feels a little pointless. So you get all your stickers then what? You can’t use them for anything or even show them off to friends. Since no one that you friend is privy to anything you do in the game. Makes having friends in the game kind of pointless. On the good side, the graphics are great, the casting of spells is fun and I love how intricate the game is. Brewing potions is also fun. I like that you can pick your house, profession and design your wand. I will keep playing but there are improvements needed to keep me in the game long term.
Fun, but frustrating if you live outside the city
by Pope Nucci on 2019/07/10 17:06
Overall, I like the concept of the game. But I have to agree with others who live in suburban or rural areas: it is extremely difficult to regain energy because the nearest greenhouses/inns are too far away to visit on a regular basis. There needs to be other ways to gain energy. Same goes for Spell Books that can only be gained through Wizarding Challenges- I can’t get them because I don’t live near Fortresses. And the greenhouse is basically useless for growing things I need, because they are all too far away to plant things and then revisit 15 hrs later. Also, potions. If a potion is good for say, 5 spell casts in one battle, but I win the battle in one spell cast, the remaining spell casts should carry over to future battles. Otherwise spending hours brewing a single potion is a waste of time and ingredients. It would also be nice to know (on screen) when entering a battle, whether or not I already have that complete item in Registry. It’s extremely difficult to remember each item, especially because some items are gained in fragments. For example if I need 12 fragments of Buckbeak but can’t remember if I completed him or not, I have to exit the battle and open my Registry to look up the information. I don’t always want to collect extras simply for experience points, because it wastes spell energy that I can’t replenish because the inns/greenhouses are too far away.
Beware: Big Power Drain
by The Domestic on 2019/06/29 23:05
As much as this game has potential, the biggest reason I uninstalled it is due to the massive amount of data and energy required to run it on any device. I currently have an iPhone 8 with 256GB and loads of unused storage (most of the gigs are free), and not only would my battery drain super fast, but my phone would heat up almost instantly as the processor too was working overtime to compensate. Even with the app entirely closed, the issues would continue even when my phone was sitting idle! Now, I have had Pokemon GO, FaceBook, Discord, and Safari all running and open at the same time and never once did my battery drain that fast nor did my phone run hotter than the interior of an active volcano. I checked my battery usage in Settings for the past 24 hours after deleting this game. A few minutes of running this game, as per my phone’s battery logs, used up 18% battery life in that time. Pokemon GO barely reach 1% for much longer. PoGO, even back in the day of the memory and data leaks when it was first introduced never hit the level this game has. Ever since deleting the app and rebooting my phone, the issues have disappeared and everything has gone back to normal. Again, this game has potential, and despite the glaring gameplay problems, the need for enormous energy to even run is absurd and disheartening to say the least. Maybe when Niantic sorts everything out will I make another at playing.
More energy
by Jabberwock87 on 2019/06/25 01:17
I love the game but I don’t like that you have to travel to greenhouses and stuff just to get energy. I’m not on the move all the time and I don’t understand why the energy can’t just refill itself with time. Even if it refilled with time only halfway that would still be cool. I know some challenges that you complete or goals can give you some energy but how can I complete them if I don’t have energy to begin with. I think it’s also a little unfair if you live out in the middle of nowhere and you have to drive like an hour to a greenhouse. It makes the game not fun. Or maybe every couple of hours you get energy that would be nice. A mini game you can play to earn energy. So far I can’t even play the game unless I’m willing to drive hours away to get energy. Also I get that you don’t want people driving while playing the game but that thing that pops up all the time when I’m playing the game telling me not to play and drive is annoying because sometimes the game freezes and then all the stuff around me disappears or because that message popped up I can’t collect the stuff around me because they timed out and disappeared. Also sometimes when I’m not even walking or moving at all that message still pops up that I’m going at a fast pace. It even pops up when I’m walking which is annoying. There should be someway to turn that message off.
So far so good, but looking forward to improvements
by Sarondipity on 2019/06/22 16:19
So far I’m really loving this game! I’ve been an avid Pokemon Go player since the game was released, and I was very excited for Wizards Unite, and so far it’s really fun! However, some of the game mechanics are really clunky. Spell casting is very difficult and it seems much harder to achieve a masterful spell cast than it is to achieve an excellent throw. Also, the story is extremely complicated so far. Pieces of the story unfold as you play through the game, but it’s incredibly overwhelming upon first opening the game. So far I’m struggling to understand what the overall point of playing is. Will the Calamity eventually be defeated? And if so...what will happen to the game? And if not, will the story just continue indefinitely? On the positives, I think the portkeys are SO FUN, and definitely a good motivator to put in the kilometers, and the inns are a good way to easily get energy. The negatives are how overwhelming brewing potions, growing plants, and going doing lessons for your profession are. There seem to be a million and one things to keep up with in this game, and it was a lot to hit a player with at once. I would have unrolled these features slowly over time and made the gameplay a bit more straightforward at first, but nothing to do about it now. Overall I love the game, but I’m definitely looking forward to improvements and streamlining in the future.
Very cool,Slightly frustrating
by Br0wn!e on 2019/07/10 18:32
I love the game and the concept of returning the Foundables to there proper place and time. I like that you are following a story line in this adventure, and that you actually brew potions and cast spell. But there are some issues. The growing time for ingredients at greenhouses is so long you can’t feasibly collect on what you plant, and I find it frustrating that since I don’t live close to a lot of inns I quickly run out of energy, which can’t be easily refilled any or the way except buying it. You get a very small amount for completing daily task that is quickly used up completing other dailys. And you get some when you log in for a 30 day streak reward that is easily broken if you miss a day. You don’t get energy for leveling or for completing a weekly goal, like walking a certain distance. Which leads to the biggest issue. The game only traces distance by gps while the app is open and actively running. It doesn’t track when not open, and because it’s gps and not steps I can walk several kilometers all over my house doing chores, but since I haven’t covered a long enough distance for the gps to move I get nothing from it, which makes if hard to unlock portmanteaus, especially for the recent event. I hope the game developers are tracking these issues and can fix some of them as the game updates.
Good idea on paper
by FakeChris hardwick on 2019/06/27 20:14
I was one of the many who were extremely excited for the prospect and idea of this game. Even before it was officially announced I remember theorizing and pretending in my head what a game like this could be. Ultimately thought it’s interesting on the first hour maybe two hours but once you get to the nitty gritty it’s fairly rinse and repeat. This game is good on paper but somehow they failed the execution. With an overload of bugs and lag that has still not been fixed since launch. Not to mention after using your wand to get confoundables you run out of energy and the game either requires you to go to a inn or buy coins with real money which in turn gets you energy. Assuming you like most people would prefer the free option it’s still not practical. It restores very small amounts of energy per visit to inn and that’s only 10% of the time you visit them. The other 90% is broken and freezes upon entering the inn and requires you to completely restart the game over and over until you are lucky enough to have the inn work. This goes for green houses and the castles you find in the world as well. Speaking of castles those are pretty fun but the combat is a bit tedious and repetitive at the same time if that’s even possible. Overall it’s fun at first but I strongly advise you wait a few months until patches are rolled out and maybe they listen to objective criticism. 2/5 go back to Pokémon go.
It’s fine; not POGO.
by Cmoney1112 on 2019/07/10 15:38
Overall, the game is fine. I am interested to see how the game evolves. The graphics are good, but I don’t feel invested in the game’s mission. I am a big Harry Potter fan and was optimistic about the game, but have been disappointed thus far. The story seems forced and there doesn’t seem to be rhyme or reason for finding the objects to progress the story. Though the app name suggests cooperative gameplay, there seems to be no point in having friends (yet) and only allows limited interaction in the Wizarding Challenges. The vault seems small out of the gate and is segregated in such a way that you can’t cater it to your gameplay. In the beginning of Pokemon Go, you could use your bag to stock up on pokeballs when that was your focus, and as you began to progress and start battling, you could expand your bag. This game seems more focused on people purchasing upgrades with limited opportunities to collect coins. I haven’t even touched on the fact that the different Hogwarts houses are virtually nonexistent in the gameplay. That is a missed opportunity as most fans of the series take pride in the house they have chosen/into which they’ve been sorted. The greenhouses also seem superfluous. Unless you have a greenhouse at your place of residence or business, the greenhouses seem more like places to dump stuff to clear vault space.
I’m greatly enjoying the game, however
by Bsb_lvr on 2019/07/12 17:15
It is too difficult to get energy. In Pokémon go I never had an issue getting poke balls, In fact I often maxed out. There are too many greenhouses in my town. They are everywhere and pretty useless imo. I attempted to use one once but as I’ve never had an issue getting ingredients I really don’t need to waste my time with them. Inns are a completely different story however. I have to drive across town to find a good selection of inns. They are so spread out and having to use my car to get to them defeats the purpose of the game. There is only one park so far that I have found that have multiple inns within walking distance of each other, a green house, and a fortress which is nice because I enjoy the fortresses but can’t play too often as it takes too much of my energy. The only issue tho is this park isn’t exactly close to me. I think if you’re going to have so few inns, they need to give more energy. Very rarely do I get 5 or 10. It’s mostly 3 and I don’t have time to sit for 5 mins for it to refresh for another 3 energy that’s typically gone with one battle and I don’t want to drive 10 blocks back and forth between inns every 5 mins as that’s a huge waste of my gas. Please fix this inn issue and the game will be perfect.
Great Game But...
by jackinthebox1234 on 2019/06/27 21:31
This is a great game and it has definitely motivated me to go outside and walk more. It is a lot of fun to play and very immersive. There are only a couple of issues I have with the game. First, it is very difficult to refill energy since the best way is to go to an inn. The nearest inn to my house is across an interstate, which is nearly impossible to cross for me. So, the only way for me to refill my energy is to pay which I don’t want to, since I don’t have the money to do so. Also, since inns, greenhouses, and fortresses are located in real-life locations, they are inaccessible to me since I live in a very suburban neighborhood and the only way for me to reach these places is by crossing a very busy and dangerous interstate or by driving there, which I can’t often do since I don’t have a car. I feel as though inns, greenhouses, and fortresses should be placed in other areas apart from real-life places, which would be much more accessible for me and possibly for many other players. I also feel like there should be a different way to fully refill the energy since me, and possibly other people, are unable to access an inn. I really hope this is taken into consideration because I thoroughly enjoy this game and the entire concept and I have a great time playing it.
Could Be Better
by whoknows7 on 2019/06/27 20:50
It’s ok. A lack of available spell energy is really the worst part of the entire game. Sure it is massively overcomplicated and under explained at the beginning. And most of the motivation for what you are doing doesn’t actually make a bit of sense, but all that could be overlooked if the game’s main lifeblood, spell energy, was easier to obtain. There just aren’t enough Inns, and the energy you get from the Inns isn’t enough. The greenhouses honestly seem mostly worthless, there is no way they should be as plentiful as they are. And you should be able to have the option to “dine” at a greenhouse (eat a vegetable, etc). The greenhouses plus the fact that you can’t dine/spin at the fortresses really makes it difficult. Another small annoyance is the map resetting to a zoomed in position facing north whenever you exit back to the map from somewhere else. Why? It drives me nuts. Overall, it feels like this will be far more repetitive than Pokémon Go due to the limited amount of items you are trying to collect. This is only exacerbated by the fact that you have to click on everything just to see if it’s one you need, unlike being able to see what Pokémon it is on the map so you don’t have to waste time repeatedly doing this. This game could be fun, but companies have a tendency not to listen to their customers, so it will probably stay the way it is.
Great Game
by baumvonmerlin on 2019/07/16 01:33
I’ve really enjoyed playing HPWU! It is way more involved than Pokémon Go is because of the traces you have to do to catch the foundables that are scattered all over the place. I keep finding new parts to the game, such as the potion making aspect where you have to do the correct order of traces in the potion that speeds up the time it takes to brew a potion. I would give this 5 stars, but there are two aspects of the game that bother me a little. One would be the traces you have to do to catch the foundables. For each trace you’re graded from “fair” being the lowest and “masterful” being the highest. Whether or not you can catch the foundables seems to be more random than how well you perform the trace. I have had low level threat foundables that I have gotten either a great or a masterful and it doesn’t work, I feel that grade level should automatically ensure you catching the foundables especially when you are a higher level. The second issue I have is with your picture you can create for your profile. I understand not having th picture for everyone to see, but the picture seems a bit pointless especially since when you are friends with somebody on the game they can’t even see your picture. But overall a great experience!!
Seems fun but very confusing to start
by Pinktroll1 on 2019/06/26 15:55
I really enjoy Pokémon Go and play it daily. This week when the Harry Potter Wizards Unite game came out I decided to give it a try. It seems like fun and the graphics are great but it is very confusing as to what everything does and how to use things. I don’t like that the space is extremely limited to gather things and it takes a lot more work to get get and have enough energy to keep playing. Having friends is kind of pointless at this point because unless they are with you at a fortress to battle there is no point in having them. I don’t like that you don’t “take things over” like you do in Pokémon Go so it really doesn’t matter which house you sign up for. This seems much more like a one person game then having teams. At least in Pokémon Go the different colored teams take over gyms and you don’t have to know them personally. The portals are cool that you open with keys but are limited to finding sparkly dots and done within seconds. There aren’t any so called raids to adventure to so no group gatherings there either. So far this gets a 3 Maybe after things get going more and after I figure out what to do with things it will pick up but again this really seems more like a one person game instead of a game where you can play either alone or with others
Awesome game, just a few things
by Gamer Girl 👩🏼‍🎤 on 2019/06/23 03:02
I absolutely love this game. I have been an HP fan forever, and I think this is a great addition to the Wizarding World. However, like other people, I think there are a few things that need some improvement. First, the spell energy. I like the idea of inns, but not everyone is able to get near enough to acquire the energy from them, especially since they can be out of range (but more on that later). It would be great if every few minutes you get 1 spell energy, so you don't have to wait around for an inn. If this issue is fixed it would make the game much smoother and easier to stay involved with. Secondly, I play this game while driving (passenger, no worries) , it's a great way to pass time. The only issue is that greenhouses, inns, and fortresses can only be accessed within a certain range, so it's not like you can just pullover on the highway. Once you get close enough and click on it, it might make more sense to let you access it. My seeds and water are overflowing! Overall, I think this will be a very successful game, especially with how fun it is now, and with a few changes I think it will become even better. Hope this feedback helps, and thank you so much for creating a this wonderful game. Ps. Dang I wrote a lot :)
Energy is a problem
by VeeLKJ on 2019/07/16 15:52
Cons: energy is hard to come by where I live, and the park I like to walk around in. Many greenhouses, few inns. The inns are often stingy too, I do not want any more soy sauce (3 energy), thank you very much. This makes gameplay shorter than I’d care for, and can’t keep up with the confoundables that are around. I wish it were more suburb friendly, I’d rather play (and have my kids play) in the safety of my neighborhood than have to travel to downtown/trafficky areas. Quality of casting doesn’t seem to effect if confoundable is caught or not. Why do masterful casts have only a 50%ish success rate? That seems counterintuitive. Still a few glitches to the system, it crashed while opening a better portkey and never saw the rewards for it. Pros: fun storylines, detailed character creation (tho I would mind making a more detailed icon on the screen) familiar characters peppered with new, and lots of obtainable objectives to complete. Combat in towers is really fun, and doable as a duo. I like the customization of the professions too. Animation is beautiful! Wish list: easier access to energy so we can play more, and a school or something like it where we can practice the spell glyphs without spending energy to do so. Duel dummies would be great.
Disappointed Muggle

I was super amped about this game and immediately downloaded this game when I heard they released it early. I got so into it I immediately wrote a great review of the game and posted it but this is me now editing my review. Let me start off with if you live in a rural town do not download this game it not as fun as you might think. The constant crashes that occur really set this game back. Not to mention you battle your hearts content casting spells to find that when you finally succeed the game freezes and doesn’t come back until you have to refresh it just for your device to work again and find that none of the game data saved because of it. Not to mention the energy which is just like pokeballs last for maybe 25 mins of game time and then it seems like you have to metaphorically rob GREENGOTS bank just to continue playing the game. The need for constant micro transactions to continue playing the game really sets this app back and it’s not one specific thing you can invest into cause there’s so many things that Nitanic wants you to purchase. It was bad with Pokémon GO but they stepped micro transactions up a whole new level with this game. It’s an okay game if you live in the city and can spend money on this game but otherwise you’re not going to love the Wizarding World of Harry Potter anymore more than reading the book or movie again for the millionth time. For it being a migical game it’s really lost its magic me.
A Fun Little Thing
by GumPirateLuffy on 2019/07/16 08:35
I’m not one for reviews, but I think I’ll write one for this. I’m unsurprisingly a fan of Harry Potter, and I figured this for a Pokémon Go knockoff; however, this doesn’t seem to be the case. It does share quite a bit of similarities, but that can be chalked up to the fact that it’s produced by the same team. The game itself isn’t anything special, it’s another AR game, but this doesn’t take away what’s neat about it. It does, to some degree, have you feel like you’re a HP character having you personalize a character profile featuring a custom picture, title, a role firing aforementioned title, in-depth wand description (fitting your same wand on pottermore, if you do choose) and much more. The games similarities to Pokémon Go include the obvious walking, catching, and distance walked to unlock something. Although similar in concept, the “catching” part is slightly different in execution—instead of a swipe up, the game has you trace the wand motion to cast certain spells featured on the books/films. Many of the things you collect are familiar to many who have seen/read Harry Potter. There is much more to this game that should be experienced rather than read about as it’s a very interesting game. If you’re a Harry Potter fan it’s worth a peak at the very least.
Great... but some bugs
by borinand on 2019/07/26 01:42
Despite the long tutorial and semi-confusing naming structure for the confoundables, the game is pretty good. The spell casting is very intuitive, wizarding challenges are fun and the events are interesting. However there are a few tweaks that I feel need to be made in order to make the game more enjoyable. Customizing your profile (wand type, house, etc.) doesn’t seem to really do anything. You can’t share pictures with your friends so the camera feature seems a little out of place. The spell casting mechanic seems to be a little inconsistent (what seems like a great cast may be considered only a fair sometimes?). Some of the confoundables are ridiculously hard to catch. I understand the ranking system but some seem to depart on the first spell way too often (mostly the same ones every time) even if their ranked as easy. But then again some seem to take a lot of tries to catch even though you make multiple great casts in a row. I’d imagine there should be dueling and presents (parcels?) you can send to a friend in the game, just like Pokémon go, but that feature isn’t available. Seems like a lot of these things are similar issues at launch of Pokémon go so they should be able to fix them pretty easily.
Motivation Drying Up
by OaAc Gaming on 2019/07/12 19:27
I'd been waiting for this game to release for quite some time and it made my week when I heard it was finally released. When I first started playing it I was weary of the entire foundables idea and I still hold to that original view. To me there doesn't seem to be any real reason to do anything in this game. There's no competition between players and while you're filling out the registry, it feels nothing like the feeling you get when you fill out the Pokedex in Pokemon go. Instead of collecting interesting animals with varying stats that you can use to compete with other players and never really run out of room for improvement, here on Wizards Unite you collect several identical versions of the same thing which serves no purpose but as a collectable and your only rewards are the ability to reset that foundable page and earn more resources to return them again. The process itself is fun, hence my rating, but the more I play the less reason I see to do anything. The only thing keeping me going is doing the tasks both the daily and long term ones. This game really needs a strong motivator for players. Even so, I, like many other fans, greatly appreciate the work put into it and I've enjoyed it so far.
Great game, but a horrible spell energy system
by Pauulyte on 2019/07/06 13:30
I’ve been loving this game. It’s exactly what I’ve wanted and my fiancé and I love going out and exploring together. There are a couple problems that really get to me though. First of all, the way you need to collect spell energy is just not practical. I live in an area with not a lot of inns, and I work a lot so I don’t even get the chance to travel to inns often. So when I run out of spell energy, which happens fairly quickly, I can’t play the game for days. And no, I’m not going to spend money to get spell energy. There should be a better system, such as collecting food in the same way we collect ingredients and those food items would give you spell energy. Or it should rejuvenate over time. Also, Plenty of bugs. I’ve had multiple issues where the app would crash on me and I would waste my spell energy. Yesterday was the worst. When I went into town, the app kept crashing and it was super frustrating because it was my only day this week I was able to go to an inn. Other than those things, the game is very creative and well thought out. I’m gonna keep playing the game for now, but I know that if this spell energy issue keeps happening, I’m going to end up giving up on it.
Potential to be Amazing
by Gregarious Guy on 2019/06/27 18:50
There are two things I really enjoy: Pokemon Go and Harry Potter. This game is a win for the most part. Niantic has improved the mechanics and features from Pokemon Go and applied them to HPWU such as: character range, higher learning curb (more involved), balanced skill trees, and more. The reason this is not a 5 star review, despite being hooked from launch, is I’ve already discovered how painful the spell energy system is. Each spell cast diminishes your energy pool and the main way to gain it back is visiting inns (the equivalent of poke stops). These inns give you barely enough energy back for a single engagement. You cannot keep up with the generous amount of encounters this way without having to spend real $ to buy energy to refill your pool each day you play. Without implementing natural energy regeneration in game most new players will lose immediate interest. Ideally when you log off at night, energy should be replenished by the next day. On days when a player gets aggressive with playtime, then they should have to consider buying gold. If they don’t improve that core function...the amazing Wizarding community will not remain engaged. If Niantic improves this system then consumers are in for a truly worthwhile game!
Fun butttt lots of glitches
by Sarahsmalll on 2019/07/16 18:20
I have really enjoyed this game. Unfortunately as others have said there are a few issues one major being the energy that doesn’t regenerate and especially if you live in an area that’s not close tho any places to get more. You will end up having to purchase coins with real money in order to get more energy. The biggest thing I’m having an issue with is all the glitches! After a few levels u will be able to find a portkey ( if your familiar with Pokémon think eggs). A portkey requires you to use a key to unlock it then you must walk 7k,5k,2k, to open. Once open u will find objects and receive rewards. Unfortunately I have had approximately 6-9 of portkeys crash the app so after finding the portkeys collecting keys and then walking 2-7k the game crashes and the portkeys disappeared and I didn’t even get any rewards! In addition I have sent crash reports and contacted them everytime only to get responses from a “bot”! It probably wouldn’t be quite that bad but I am disabled and I can’t drive and walking is difficult a point I have explained in my crash reports. Still not even a response! I have tried everything turn off phone delete app and reinstall the whole typical list of things to try. Despite the issues this game is a lot of fun! If they are able to work out the glitches it would be excellent unfortunately as it is it’s just frustrating
The game is fun until...
by MongoMike69 on 2019/07/02 15:53
You run out of spell energy. In Pokémon go you could earn a fair amount of poke balls from pokestops they even eventually introduced the activity sync at a later point. Spell energy is used for all casts, successful or not. There is no recharging rate of even 1 per hour and when you run out mid encounter the game jingles micro transactions in your face. If you played Pokémon go and we’re fairly decent at it you could earn up to 50 coins a day, the equivalent of 50cents. In Harry Potter the most you can earn is 10gold or 10cents. The micro transactions in this game make it a blatant cash grab. If you live in an area that doesn’t have inns or greenhouses you will be stuck after the initial 25mins of game play due to lack of spell energy. You’ll have to run for encounters or fork over 4.99+tax to purchase more energy. The game is fun and entertaining, great job developers but the cash grab isn’t, boo on you Warner Brothers. Lastly it seems very erratic on which gyms got converted to fortresses where you can battle. Most got turned into greenhouses that give you ingredients that you end up throwing away for bag space. The game has an energy problem that turns into a playing problem. Implement some sort of regeneration mechanic and give energy every time we level up. We want to keep playing, everyone I’ve spoke to that plays has this same issue. Let us play without reaching into our pockets every 20mins.
Rural players are more limited then in Pokemon go
by Airborne_Recon on 2019/06/25 04:19
This game is nothing like Pokemon GO which is great in many ways. The issue I have involves the typical pokemon go rural player issue. If you don’t live near an Inn/Gym then you run out of magical energy which I should note unlike Pokeballs cannot be stored for later. When I first started playing I found a lot of stuff in my neighborhood which made me believe they fixed the rural issue. Then I ran out of energy and the game literally did not allow me to do ANYTHING so we drive to the next town fill up play for 20 min and go home to realize once again we are stuck to walking to open portkeys (hatch eggs). The energy needs to be linked to a timer. Such a simple fix, but ironically no one in development even thought about it. Guess Niantic likes to forget about the rural plays even when they are given a second chance. Updated to state the game is worth the 20 minute drive. I would love to see an hourly energy rate, but after three days my tween is asking me to take her downtown often. The family time has made the drive worthwhile. I still hope the energy problem is fixed some. One energy an hour is a great compromise.
Gets worse as you level up
by Slythersky3 on 2019/06/24 18:28
Initially, the game is very fun. From battling creatures in the fortress, brewing different potions, encountering different magical creatures and characters it quickly becomes addictive. However, as your reach lvl 6 you get to choose a profession which is supposed to help you in your adventures, overpowering confounded and fighting creatures in the fortress. However, unless you’re a magizoologist, you’re going to have a though time fighting creatures within the fortress as you aren’t able to access upgrades to Protego until you level up further through the skill tree, making the spell utterly useless when fighting. When you finally reach level 10, you get a notification that says “normal and low level threat confoundables are now easier to overpower.” THIS ISNT THE CASE! As soon as you reach level 10, good luck being able to overpower ANY confoundable without needing to use a potion. A lot of the time, as soon as a spell is cast the creature immediately resists your magic. Most of the time, as soon as a spell is cast for the first time, the confoundable disappears, wasting your time and spell casting energy. Although the game is fun from lvl 1-10, as soon as you hit level 10 it becomes impossible to do anything. Definitely needs some improvement.
Awesome Game! (A couple fixes needed)
by Chuckles_9600 on 2019/06/24 23:52
I truly love the concept and overall adventure of this game! The graphics are great and the different actions are also fun. I have such a great time collecting, upgrading, and exploring all the things the game has to offer. I’ve invited multiple friends of mine to come experience the good times the game has to offer. I love the Harry Potter Universe with all my heart, and this game allows me to experience what a wizard can do. Casting all the unique spells is super fun, and I get a workout while I geek out! I have had a couple annoyances with the game though, but I understand that it just released. I just want to help the development. First, as I’ve seen with other reviews, the energy depletion feature is a let down when I can’t play the game anymore because the energy has ran out. I suggest regenerating energy overtime, or erasing that feature because some people are so addicted to this game that they can’t get enough of it, (me)! Second, tracing the spells can get a little tricky when it’s bright outside. Making spell casting a little more lenient would help a lot! Thank you for creating such an amazing game, and I hope you continue to add and edit to make it even better!
Love it but a few ideas
by Xxfrozon on 2019/06/27 01:31
I freakin love this game! Everyone we’re walking around or traveling I open my phone and play! However a few things annoy me. One of course like everyone has mentioned is the energy. The energy system is one reason why I stopped playing that one other Harry Potter Mystery game. It immediately got boring because I could never play. That’s the same with this game. But I have faith that you can change that. Second, I have an idea. I’m sure this is quite obvious and maybe I just haven’t seen it in the game but I think it would be cool to battle other players with spells and maybe you get a quick prize or something. Of course that might be too much like Pokémon Go but still I think it would give a reason to have friends. Also a gift system please! Anyways maybe you could team up with friends or battle evil wizards. You could trace the spells like usual but maybe you can choose the spell. Idk I would love it tho. Other than this I love this game and it defiantly worth downloading! I have faith that updates will make it better 😁 Edit: Okay so I literally can’t play anymore cause I ran out of energy so I can’t play anymore. I did go to an in but I barely get energy from it so it’s a complete waist after a while. Fix this please
Fun But Still Has Problems
by hapily on 2019/08/29 05:36
The concept is sound, but this app needs much work. For instance, I can walk several km in a week, but they do not register because the app is not active while I walk. It drains too much data and battery power to leave on. The EAGLE is Ravenclaw’s symbol; everyone who has read the books knows this. Recently, as I’ve progressed to level 20, the app has quit on me many times. This takes my time & data to open it again. I still play at least three times a day, hoping that the developers will improve this app. Oh, and there need to be many more inns, fortresses, and greenhouses. I’ve been to towns where I would have to drive for quite a few minutes to get to an inn, then there were no fortresses or greenhouses near me. I cannot waste petrol on a game, no matter how much fun I can have for about five minutes before there is nothing more that I can do so that I would have to drive to the next location. The game still does not always register my progress on the daily and special challenge sections. Today, I collected four Foundables, yet the daily challenge stated that I had collected 0/10 items. Hi am here are additional problems, but these are things that have upset me today. I will give Wizards Unite a five star rating once it has improved.
Freezes too often
by Cooks93 on 2019/07/18 05:45
I’m getting really annoyed with the fact that the game keeps freezing. This morning I spent energy and a potion to catch Harry. Not the Harry from the event that’s going on but another one. Right when it was returning the confoundable, the game freezes. I have to restart only to find out that it used my energy and my potion but didn’t actually give me the fragment/family XP or anything else for that matter. As you well know energy isn’t always that easy to get unless you live close by a million inns. Also, potions take time to brew, so wasting a potion was pretty irritating as well. At this point it’s pretty much a guarantee that the app is going to freeze up on me some way some how. There have been several times it has froze and it cost me energy, potions, fragments. I’m not sure what bug is going on but I’m really annoyed with this. Otherwise I like everything else with the game, especially that you can prestige the pages so that you can keep collecting common items and earning more from them. That’s the one thing that got boring about Pokémon Go, there wasn’t much incentive to keep catching certain Pokémon.
Hope you’re rich
by itried30nicknames on 2019/06/22 16:18
This game is trash. The spells are truly difficult to swipe on a phone. Some confoundables are “easy” but yet they run away after getting a great cast. Your bags fill up with seeds and water in no time as well. Guess what? $$$ time if you want to hold more than 30. And to grow a seed which yields ONE mushroom, it takes 24 hours and you have to go back to that particular greenhouse. To make it grow “better” (I spent probably 10 energy which is over $.20) to get it to yield 2 whole mushrooms in 24 hours...... The raids cost a ton of energy which doesn’t re grow over time. You actually have to swipe at different inn’s every five mins only to get a couple energy back. OR YOU CAN PAY $$$. That’s the real name of this game. $$$$$$. 30 mins in to the game and my bags are full. Better spend some $$$ for more bag space. Oh we only give you a little energy space to work with so you run out of spells fast if you aren’t running around inn to inn. Want more energy space??? Better spend some $$$$$$. Ran out of energy and you aren’t near a bunch of inn’s? $$$$$ time. We used three dark seers on one inn (that’s over $3.00) and in 30 mins we had 2 rare confoundables and 1 ran away after first cast “great” with a max enhance potion. This game had years of development and ideas off Pokémon go to make a great game, yet you guys went for a huge cash grab.
A lot of improvements have been made, however...
by one disappointed player on 2019/10/06 01:49
A lot has been fixed in this game and has made it more enjoyable, however, the spell energy is still a Huge problem! The makers of the game don't seem to be listening either. No matter how many of us talk about it in reviews or in feedback, nothing changes. Sure, they increased your chances of getting more from inns that aren't in areas with a lot of other inns, but ummm.... Hello! There aren't any inns anywhere near where most of us live. For me there is one inn, in a 2 mile radius, great...thanks. Somebody mentioned that as you play more your can increase your energy capacity, this is true, however, for a cost of almost $2 you can increase it by 10, no that's not a typo, 10. So at level 40 I have invested a ridiculous amount of money and now have an energy capacity of 615, that's awesome, right? Well, not really. Here's why, there's nowhere to get energy!!!! I have to drive 20 miles to a university, then spend 2 hours driving around it to fill my energy up. Very quickly this begins to feel like a job and that defeats the whole purpose of playing a game. I'm in love with this game but sadly the makers of the game don't seem to want us to be able to play it....
Just Okay
by Teena19 on 2019/07/20 16:08
The game is fun but there’s definitely some drawbacks to it and improvements the developers could make if they actually took the time to read these reviews and address the concerns that many of the game players are having. I venture to say they won’t because the sole purpose is to make money from the app users with the in app purchases, specifically regarding the energy. With most games if you want to play for free you have to wait an allotted amount of time for your energy to refill. Not so with this app. Any time you cast a spell, one energy is wasted. I can’t count the number of times I’ve wasted energy on catching something only for it to be whisked away by magic. Maybe make it so it only uses one energy per encounter? Also I encounter the same confoundables or whatever they’re called multiple times and I never know if I’ve caught it already or need to catch multiple of them. My suggestion is to have some kind of indicator showing you’ve caught it already or you have this many more to catch of this one so we don’t waste energy on stuff we already have. But again, I recognize the motives behind this app, to make money, not to make a fun game for the Harry Potter fans or the kiddos who play these games. The least you could do is fix the energy!
Cool, but could be better.

I had heard that this game was going to come out, and now that the game is out, I’m very excited to be out and about playing it and helping out my friends in the game. The thing is, comparing this to Pokémon GO!, the last hit by Niantic Inc., every single process is three times slower. Freeing a foundable is much slower than catching a pokemon, challenges are much slower than gyms, and the absolutely most annoying is that dining at inns is SO much slower than spinning poke-stops. This creates a special problem for me. I use an iPod Touch to play, which doesn’t have a very accurate GPS. Because of this, my character is often jumping around to areas I’m nowhere near, and because I’m always moving, it’s incredibly hard for me to dine at inns before I get kicked out because I’m no longer in range. This makes it incredibly hard to get energy, which I need in order to actually play the game. I don’t know if this can be fixed with a patch on the game, and I plan to get an actual phone soon, but I figured it was worth mentioning. Ultimately, the game itself is fun and interesting, but comparing it to Pokémon GO!, it’s very time consuming, more of a hassle, and in my opinion, it’ll get old much faster.
Has potential
by kshaaa on 2019/06/29 15:53
This game has potential. I know it’s new and will take time to develop much like Go has over the years but off the bat there are a few things I can think of that need improvement. The story is a bit overwhelming to start. Too many pop ups and it was a lot to start. I hate the greenhouse thing. I can’t always get back to a greenhouse in an hour or even 7/8 to collect. They are too far apart for that to work and be a fun addition to the game. Right now it’s too labor intensive. Also, more fortresses are needed. In Go there are like 6 gyms near me which is great but only 1 fortress. There are more Inns than are needed in this small radius so it would be nice if at least 1 of those was a fortress. I have to go out of the way to find a fortress. Definitely a balance issue with the stops and type there are. Also, not really sure what the point of picking a house is or having friends. It doesn’t do much for you. Hopefully something that will be worked on to enhance the game much like the teams in Go. Plus, maybe a gift feature or something to actually interact more with friends. Having friends doesn’t really help you much now. Decent game. It has potential to be really good.
Amazing! But more Magic energy please!
by StoryWolf on 2019/06/22 05:46
I’m going to have to agree with most the people reviewing this game. It is amazing and is very fun to play, but after you run out of magic energy, you’re kind of stuck until you go to an inn. I understand having to walk, but inns will often only give me few pieces of energy which I can’t really do much with...I would say either have the magic energy recharge over time (not too quickly otherwise no one will walk. Heh), or each player gets a higher maximum number of energy (because let’s be real, 75 isn’t enough for us potterheads). All that being said, there are many beautiful things about this game. Casting spells is fun, you get to choose your house, profession, and even what length, material and core your wand is! There’s attention to detail true to the Harry Potter lore. I like that I can see all the foundables I’ve collected and read about their origins. This game has a lot of elements in it to make it an entirely different experience than Pokemon Go. I play both games, so it’s nice to experience each game differently and not have two games that are carbon copies of one another.
Almost!
by Otakugirl1990 on 2019/06/25 01:31
Almost everything is amazing! The game is so much fun and the various mechanics make it even better. The only complaint I have is the spawn rate. Nothing spawns anywhere near me. I wish I could enjoy it from my home like Pokémon Go. I have a small park down the street with a couple inns and still... there is rarely anything that shows up. I was at a friends house in a smaller city when I downloaded the game and got TONS of items and spawns at her place. I was surprised to find that the game is nearly unplayable at my home and even the park. I hope this is a launch issue and that it will get better over time. Would really love to get to play the game without having to drive 20 minutes to get to a more central location in town. The energy thing is also slightly annoying. I love that you can stock up on poke balls in Pokémon Go so you can play from anywhere. I blew through 75 energy in a few minutes when I first opened the app.... and then couldn’t play for the rest of the day because I wasn’t near an inn. It feels like you have to be in a big busy city or have a lot of real money to blow on the game in order to play it. Hoping to get to actually enjoy this game in the future!!
Did Someone Say Energy? Where?
by JaykerhAQ on 2019/06/28 09:10
The energy is a huge problem in this game. I was honestly shocked to find out it doesn’t automatically replenish considering it is a pain to get. It’s as if they took a more monetized route with this game. It is no surprise that Pokémon Go made incredibly more money than this game did on opening weekend. And go figure, poke balls were never an issue or even remotely close to the rarity they made the energy in this game. Niantic you shot yourselves in the foot on this one, bad call. I see three fixes for energy, either implement a feature where energy automatically replenishes (1 every 3 minutes), or drastically increase the energy drops at Inns, at least 25. The final and best fix, drop the energy from the game completely. It’s a stupid idea and it doesn’t make sense for a Harry Potter game. The more we can play the game, the more we can spend. I sure as heck am not spending a dollar on energy. Lastly, with this energy system they have in the game, I’d be there are a lot of people with their fingers crossed that Niantic doesn’t win it’s lawsuit over Global++. This will definitely push a lot of people to a tweaked version of this game. When I have to spend more time running around town replenishing energy than actually playing the game, a GPS spoof starts to sound really nice.
Great game, immersive, lots to do, NO SPELL ENERGY
by no spell energy cant play on 2019/06/26 18:24
When i first got the game, i was very impressed. The immersion into the world, and customizations and all the things you can do aside from just fights or freeing something is awesome. Plenty to keep you busy, this was going to be a 5 Star review...until i ran out of spell energy. Spell energy does not replenish over time, you dont earn any from casting spells or collecting items or winning fights. You can only get spell energy from an Inn, and even then you get maybe 3, aside from that you have to purchase it. The fact that you can only purchase spell energy or get a couple from an inn is crazy. There should be WAY more ways to get more energy, i dont live anywhere near an inn, and cant even play the game because i have been out of spell energy for 4 days with no way of getting more, im not going to spend money for spell energy that will go away after casting 5 spells. This absolutely needs to be improved, should not be a struggle to cast spells. Like pokemon go you could get pokeballs from stops and levling up and catching. Theres needs to be alot more opportunities to get spell energy, wont even be playing anymore until this gets fixed.
Great game But needs improvement
by MusekFan on 2019/07/05 16:52
Great game but... I find myself spending way to much time trying to gather energy for a few spells it takes me 30 minutes to gather around 20-30 energy and it takes about 5 minutes to spend it all. I get it’s a free game with no ads and they want people to buy energy but it predecessor Pokémon Go has it fine tuned on when to buy and when to grind. One improvement I think that would help would be some sort of energy recharge like candy crush or a guaranteed 10 energy at midnight this gives the player time to get out and explore looking for more energy. I also found that port keys glitch and kick you out with no rewards this can be extremely frustrating after ten kilometers and having no in game reward but to be booted and cheated of my hard work. Friendship doesn’t really do much or isn’t plain to see the difference and there’s no helping friends from afar like gift giving. The most recent event with the purple sos encounters but I often find it over lapping with its other games like Pokémon. Over all it’s a good game but it still has room for improvement.
Updated: Great game but SO glitchy
by Hhunting on 2019/08/25 20:10
Ok I love Pokemon Go and Harry Potter so this game is my ideal mix. And it is fun — I have played it every day since launch. The new update fixed some of the most annoying issues (having to approve leaving and auto sleep) but there are still a couple of things that really need to get fixed. 1) it is still SO glitchy. It crashes over and over when I switch between apps or just because it hasn’t crashed for a while and feels like it should. This game was designed to appeal to Pokemon Go players but if I skip back and forth between the two the other one crashes half the time. Super annoying. 2) this is not Pokémon go. It is not going to be a community game no matter how hard Niantic tries. But too many of the challenges require friends to pass them. Stop trying to make this a team challenge and focus on this being a fun individual game. As it is, I am never going to get past the challenge that requires me to fight a challenge with three friends so apparently I am done with SOS challenges. :-/ Other than these issues this is a great app!!! I enjoy it every day!
Enjoyable but ...
by ElanMorinTedronai on 2019/06/23 00:14
I would compare energy to poke balls in Pokémon go except that recouping that lost energy is a pain in comparison. The reason it’s a pain is because in a given location there are a lot more spawns of confoundables than there are Pokémon. Which means you use lots of energy. A huge boon for Pokémon go was the idea of gifts which allowed you to get items wherever you were. I feel like the game need to implement that in some way or provide some kind of slow recoup of energy over time like other mobile games. Also the battery saver mode is very lackluster which is a huge negative with the lack of adventure sync. (Once again see Pokémon go). Before adventure sync in Pokémon go I would turn on battery saver in game and leave the game on in my pocket to allow it to count my walking. This could be something on my end but this game seems to allow my phone to sleep while in battery saver mode which it did not do in Pokémon go. I know this game is different from Pokémon go but I made all these comparisons because it feels like it missed out on some of the better parts could of been put in.
good
by this is stupid... on 2019/07/02 13:06
so far i've been playing for 2 weeks and i love the game. a few critiques would be to give us better chances at catching rare stuff. every time they pop up you expend 10/15 spell energy (which are hard to gone by) just so it disappears. it's frustrating and enough to make me stop playing if it keeps happening. they're already rare, you don't need to make it so frustrating to catch once they do pop up. and yeah, spell energy really needs to be easier to come by... i work at an inn so it's fine for me but my friends aren't so lucky and it takes the fun out when they can't play bc they dont have energy and no way to replenish it except to spend money or to drive to an inn and spend money on gas. really need to work that out bc ppl will stop playing if their friends don't play. also, to have things spawn differently every week or so. i stopped playing pogo bc i got tired of always getting rats and birds but never having anything else spawn and knowing i wouldn't get stuff that didn't spawn near me. like i'm not undertaking a world trip to catch stuff that ONLY spawns in certain areas....
Not Safe For Walking
by DracoMidnight on 2019/07/04 15:20
I came to this game from Pokemon Go, which I have been playing since it first came out. That game is great while I am walking about as I have to put very little focus into what is literally a paper toss game. This game, however, I cannot see how it can be a game that is meant for you to get up and walk. The spell casting for one is distracting and keeps your attention off of whatever is around you. It’s not a simple flick of your finger/wrist. It isn’t safe if you are walking along a road and then have to stop somewhere just to try and do a spell. Trust me, I went for a walk when this game came out just to try this and I wholeheartedly do not recommend it. I found myself distracted from the road far more than I would have liked. This game is one I would recommend as walk first to your destination and ignore all the creatures and then sit down and “catch” them. So if you are looking for a game that is easy to put in the background and just walk? This game isn’t it. Pokemon Go is a far better option for being able to walk without focusing all your attention on the game. Especially with the external help of the pokewalkers (and the apple watch before they removed the app for some reason).

Wizard challenge keeps forcing a restart of the app. I’ve tried everything from signing out to uninstalling the app. No resolution found.

I have many friends who like this game and get a lot of enjoyment out of it. So I downloaded it, gave my birthday and then was unable to create an account because I prefer not to give Facebook or Google more of my data. I’ll try it again and revise this review if/when I can either Sign In with Apple or just create an account with my email address.

Currently, this game is barely playable.

i really don’t like how lately one of the first tasks of the Special Events is to make more friends. i don’t know that many ppl who play the game & i keep having to ask ppl to be my friend & it’s really a hassle. so if we could please stop doing that that’d be great. i’d don’t like being free promo for you guys. fun game tho i like the different events

I have to keep the app open while walking and it never tracks properly. Today, I had 100% when I started out and closed it at 32% battery. How many km did it log? .5. That is all… My Pokémon GO clocked me at almost 6 km’s! I don’t know how much longer we’re supposed to stick to the game when we can’t even open our Portkeys.

by AndyGurl87 on 2019/11/27 18:58
I love absolutely everything about this game except for Portkeys.
I just lost a LEVEL FIVE runestone because there was a “server error”...what the HECK?!?!?

by KaseyNae on 2019/11/27 03:36
I have put a couple hundred dollars into this game.

😡😡😡😡
It makes the game unreliable and worthless.

by LinaGirl26 on 2019/11/24 13:28
Fun game that makes you feel as if you’re part of the HP franchise.

Wizards unite flaws
by whitsaki on 2019/11/20 20:03
At first I loved playing but I’m getting pretty irritated.
I have tried the different things they say to do online and nothing has worked.

by Mystic knotwork on 2019/11/20 03:57
This is a fantastic game.
Changes are improvements
by Vi19 ma'am on 2019/11/20 03:15
Update 11/19: Well, every time there is an update I have to delete the app and reload it.
Not that great
by Ryaloxy on 2019/11/19 23:10
I’m a die hard Harry Potter fan, and this app is really disappointing.
Not fun
by Baninapppurchase on 2019/11/19 17:21
Huge grind with no rewards. The game scales difficulty based on you spell power reserves. The more you have the harder it is to catch anything.

by sawyerfan on 2019/11/19 09:48
If egg incubators in Pokémon Go work three times, why can’t silver keys open three port keys?

“Unable to connect to server”
by Human 368219 on 2019/11/17 19:26
Two days ago, I probably would have given this game 3 or 4 stars, but as of yesterday it no longer loads. It has a black screen instead of the loading screen and then after a minute it gives an “unable to connect to server” message. I deleted and redownloaded the app and was able to complete part of community day, but now it’s doing the same thing again. :/ I’m severely unimpressed.

Newest Update
by saved919 on 2019/11/17 00:16
All in all I love this game.

A lot of fun, especially for HP fans, but needs work.
by kmaroney13 on 2019/08/08 13:27
I started playing the game when it first came out.

Disappointed Muggle
by Woods3303 on 2019/06/21 05:22
I was super amped about this game and immediately downloaded this game when I heard they released it early.
Fun, challenging, top graphics

Cool, but could be better.
by Rae Bo. on 2019/06/23 23:07
I had heard that this game was going to come out, and now that the game is out, I’m very excited to be out and about playing it and helping out my friends in the game.
