Tired of the bugs

I gave it a shot for a few weeks but it’s a mess.
Crashes
by Thang325 on 2019/08/18 05:55
Fix your game please. Whenever I try to play versus, the game crashes and close the app. It is annoying. People having issues they lost cause of this. Not going to play versus till they resolve this problem.
Need to be connected at all times.

PLEASE fix the Versus mode on iPhone 5s!!!
by Jack The Game Master on 2019/08/18 00:17
This is a really good game. But it’d be a better game if one of its main attractions worked more than 5% of the time! I can barely play Versus mode on my phone (iPhone 5s) without the app crashing at some point before, during, or after the match starts. Please fix this!
Nerf Peach for God’s Sake
by Coolguy28219 on 2019/08/17 22:53
Shielding is a dumb mechanic on its own, but when you make a character thats speciality revolves around that mechanic, you’re got the perfect recipe for a no-skill character that makes Vs. mode just not fun to play at high ranks. Vs. mode is a lot of fun, and I’m pretty good at Dr. Mario World. I’ve consistently stayed in tier 5 and win about 60% of the matches I play. The people at tier five are incredibly good, and I sometimes have trouble taking them down. Slowly, with practice I work my way up, defeating more and more players until I’m higher in rank than I’ve ever been before. I do another match, it’s against Peach. I throw out attacks left and right, but they mean nothing to Peach’s broken shield. Meanwhile, peach is struggling and in a great position to be attacked and there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s pretty easy to tell from the opponents screen on the right that the player deserves to be 2 tiers lower. But since they play Peach, they’re with the incredibly skilled players who work their hardest to climb the ranks. This is how every battle against Peach goes, and I’m sure a lot of people can agree with me. There are a lot of ways to fix Peach. She can simply be changed to 2 and have her shield chance reduced and she would be balanced. However, it’s clear to see that Nintendo wants some characters to have a “1” attack power, so I think, and would prefer, if shielding was reworked altogether. This is my dream rework: (1) 25% Shield Chance (2) 20% Shield Chance (3) 15% Shield Chance (4) 10% Shield Chance All characters have the same chance to shield. This rework increase the viability of assistants that increase shield, make shields in general MUCH less confusing, and make gameplay more revolved around abilities. Making abilities more important would be amazing, since you can switch off of characters without worrying if they are bad or not. It would make the experience so much more fun. I know almost none of this article will be read, and none of my suggestions will be taken into consideration, but I can dream.
Fun...if I could play
by heatherween on 2019/08/17 21:32
It continually has communication error messages both during gameplay and just trying to load the game. I was hoping the recent maintenance time they had would have fixed this issue, but it did not. Lost many lives because it will have this error while playing a level. Sometimes after the “ready, go!” to start the level, it will take quite awhile for a capsule to show up in its little window to start the game. Update: since my last review, there was maintenance done to the app, and it was better but for a very short time. It continually will show the buffering symbol during a game and then tell me there was a communication error or read error and take me back to the home screen. It will not load any battle games for me to play, and the current level I am on I have already won twice but will not allow me to progress to the next level. IF by some chance it loads a battle game for me, mid-battle it will buffer, then tell me I’ve lost the game. It’s so frustrating that I almost want to delete the game from my phone. I get that it’s new, and they’re working out the kinks, but come onnnnnn.....
Impossible to win when you characters don’t level up
by Starvinartist78 on 2019/08/17 21:10
I have lost count of the number of characters I have that were supposed to level up but never did, an absolute minimum of 3. They are somehow permanently stuck even though the game says they level up. Then they started adding new stronger characters, great... now I have even less of chance. Too many problems! Don’t download, you will only be disappointed.
Good game
by evan the apple guy on 2019/08/17 19:57
I think that this game tried to cross the dr.mario and new soup (new super Mario bros) series’s and I like that but the controls are slippery and the versus mode crashes the app when ever I use it so I lose points. I would like for these bugs to be fixed.
Great game, but requires data
by carlovilla on 2019/08/17 16:34
If I have no WiFi/service, the game won’t work. Other than that, it keeps you busy
Dr candy crush.
by Berealioly on 2019/08/17 13:20
Very fun and addictive but it’s copying candy crush come on Nintendo you’re better than this and at least candy crush gives you more free stuff than this game! At the start of this game you are bombarded a little too much with new items and the bad items and abilities of the viruses are a little overpowering need stronger good items to even out the playing field and have them available without charge. So your favorite character is in this game too bad you will more likely get a assistant and not a doctor they are incredibly hard to unlock!! And the app crashes all the time if you’re playing versus or sometimes loading between levels and even during gameplay. Another thing is in the timer levels the timer starts before you even make a move come on people the timer should start when you make the first move not before your even playing! Things to improve make it so you can carry more than just five lives to make it different from candy crush have the total number of lives be 10 Some of the levels should start out with the right color of capsules And be able to give you the color you need when there’s only one virus left. Have special capsules be able to move anywhere on the bored up or down! And also make it so you can buy for 500 or 1000 no more than that of coins get 10 diamonds Maybe 2000 coins for unlocking a doctor not 4000 coins maybe 500 coins to unlock a assistant separately from Doctors. One cool thing to add it would be team doctors where you can choose a different doctor as a assistant instead of just an assistant creature. They need to fix some of the levels they are not very winnable for a new player they need to go back and test the levels to make sure you can beat them and then announce that they repaired some of those broken timer levels another words they need to man up! If you’re going to copy candy crush at least do it right at least they will throw in within each level items that give you three seconds extra game play (this game does!) not very very very brutal!!
Controls capsules to determine outcome
by Uncle frustration on 2019/08/17 06:10
I like this game, but when a game obviously manipulated the rules in order to control the outcome of the match it’s not about skill, it’s about rolling the dice. Some matches you are automatically pre-determined to lose, such as when you have a single virus but aren’t given that color for over 10 turns. This is especially true for any player from Japan for whatever reason. Characters have wildly un-equal skill levels but are intended to be paid for with in-game currency. It’s a shame to see my favorite childhood characters thrown into a game so obviously intended to make the player pay as much as possible, especially against other people. Here’s a thought, how about having the outcome of the match be determined by how good of a player you are, not how many levels of a character or how many assistants you have? Oh wait, more money for the greedy pigs...
Great!!!!
by therealmissnightmare on 2019/08/17 03:50
A lot like the classic NES game but new and improved with a candy crush feel.
The matches are rigged!
by M@rshmallo on 2019/08/17 02:48
There is no way I can get so many viruses piled up against me! This is to spend more and it's BS!
Vs mode is lame
by Playz214 on 2019/08/17 02:42
Vs mode is stupid- don’t think im playing against real people and adding 5 rows of virues with half the bar already dropped is unwinable. Single mode 3 starred first 2 worlds but game wants u to use items which cost diamonds which I rarely get so essentially wants U to pay money to keep progressing. Too bad as I live dr MARIO but the devs didn’t do the franchise justice
Worth it - Download it now

Completely worth your time. Addicting as @#$&!
Nintendo has turned into the Candy Crush Company. No, that’s not a good thing.
by Silicon FX on 2019/08/16 21:03
[THIS REVIEW MAY AS WELL BE AN ESSAY IT’S SO LONG. IF YOU DON’T WANT TO OR CAN’T READ THE ENTIRE THING (I honestly don’t blame you) THEN SKIP TO THE LAST PARAGRAPH FOR MY FINAL VERDICT.] Look, I get it. You tried to do your own thing with Super Mario Run, it didn’t work, back to square one. I get why they took the approach that they did with all of their post Super Mario Run efforts, I do, but why an approach as detestable and deplorable as this one. This review will act as a message to Nintendo and a warning to consumers. This review will also act as a summarization of most of the problems people have with this game. Let’s just list most of the issues people and myself have: rampant glitches, constant need for internet, micro transactions, and luck-based progression. I’m going to briefly cover the first three points. This game has several glitches, from randomly disconnecting from the server to weird sun graphics spawning in the middle of the screen. Many of these glitches have been acknowledged and fixed by Nintendo through maintenance updates. I’m not too angry about this issue because glitches are of course unintended, however it gives off the impression of a rushed product, and many of these issues can cause you to lose lives and versus matches. This game requires a constant internet connection, not just for the versus matches, but for everything. This, I honestly don’t get. If you have bad wifi or plan on playing this game in area devoid of wifi, you can count this game out. This game is free-to-play, which of course means misery and annoyance via micro transactions. There’s a currency, a second currency that you can increase the amount of with real world currency, and a life counter which slowly replenishes over time. If you played other free-to-play offerings such as Angry Birds 2, this should be nothing new. It should also come as no surprise that this system was designed to eek money out of consumers, and thus annoys you into paying money just so that you get through it faster (or at all). I’ll touch more on this once I get into the luck discussion. Speaking of which, this game randomizes which capsules you get and what color the viruses will be. If you fail a level, It’s not going to be the same second time around. I completely understand why they did this. If you could just look up how to complete a stage, that would defeat the challenge and lose Nintendo precious money. And trust me, I’ve tried. The guides on YouTube are worthless (for the most part). Unfortunately, this gives the player a “What can I even do?” mentality when it comes to the later levels. I’ll say this right now: if you don’t like failure, you won’t like this game. This game laughs in your face for failing something you had next to no control over and doesn’t even throw you that many bones in the case of consecutive failures. Toad does give you an item after 4 or five tries and you can buy an item to help you out, but the item you get is of course, random, and can range from an incredibly useful skill meter fill, to an incredibly useless score booster, which if you’re buying an item at all, you’re probably doing so because you can’t beat the stage, so score is useless. You can of course buy the useful item with diamonds...which cost real world money. At this rate, they just should’ve made the game five bucks, rather than doing this stupid race to the bottom garbage. And of course there had to be a life system. If you lose all of your lives, you have to wait 30 minutes for ONE to replenish. Quite the punishment for something that may not even be your fault, huh? You can switch doctors to get different abilities, such as Dr. Bowser who can clear two RANDOMLY SELECTED rows of viruses for you, or Dr. Peach who clear a RANDOM column of viruses. At least Dr. Mario is consistent, clearing the bottommost row of viruses, but ironically, his consistency actually makes him the worst doctor to play as, and you end up praying that Bowser eliminates your desired rows. Did I mention that this game has a versus mode? All the same luck related issues from the main game carry over here, with a luck based defense mechanic added in for good measure. If I beat my opponent, I want it to be because I bested them in a match game of skill, not because I rolled 6 and they rolled 1. This game is just a series of dice rolls, with progression locked to rolling a 6, except no it’s not cause that would actually be more fun than this garbage. There is fun to be had with this game. The versus mode is pretty fun. The base gameplay is pretty addictive. The music is catchy. Unfortunately, good music can only do so much when the game is bogged down with glitches, micro transactions, luck, and pretty harsh and blatant trial and error. This virus is covered in fog. What color is it? JUST PLACE A CAPSULE NEAR IT AND FIND OUT. You might see something in this game that I don’t, or you might enjoy gambling, but if you’re considering getting this game, I honestly don’t think it’s worth your time or patience. To the consumer, I say stay away. To Nintendo, I say what were you thinking?
Great Game

This is a great game, just need to get the bug issues taken care of. Game keeps freezing up, keep losing diamonds and lives.
Super Fun, When Working
by NixHolmes on 2019/08/16 16:58
I love the original console version of Dr Mario, so when I had found this in the App Store, my whole family downloaded it. This app does the original game of the same name justice, as this is extremely fun. That is when it is working right. It is common to loose hearts, not gain your hearts from family and friends, game close down on you randomly, and loose versus matches due to glitches. It doesn’t matter what type of phone (apple or android), what age of phone (couple years old to brand new), nor your WiFi connection (we can switch to watching movies on our phones with zero loading issues, at multiple places when the game glitches, so it is not a WiFi issue). We all have the same issues in the game.
They treat you like a thief - God forbid you have slow internet
by GioVan78 on 2019/08/16 12:39
There is no reason why this game needs a constant internet connection. Between the arbitrary “hearts” and the constant maintenance downtime whats point is this game ? I’d rather them charge me 5 bucks so can actually play the game rather than be constantly hamstring by artificial lives and timers. It’s a barely passable game with a weirdly power tripping “anti-theft” policy that only hurts the people who would pay money. I refuse to spend a single dollar on this game

Please Update
by Supermomoffour on 2019/08/16 11:49
This is a fun game, but needs to be updated. It has many glitches. I want to have fun with it, but when the game crashes in the middle of playing it becomes frustrating(especially when the hearts are limited). Also, why are the hearts limited? Don’t you want people to the play the game or to put it aside? It shouldn’t be this way. Let us earn the hearts/diamonds easier and make the “extras” something you need to purchase.
Fix this

Constant communication error notices while I’m playing in versus.
Buggy
by alyberninger on 2019/08/16 11:32
It could be really fun and when it works it is fun. But the game is buggy, it just freezes sometimes. I’ve lost hearts and items because the game has frozen right before a game is started, then when you start the game up again, those things are gone still, you don’t get them back. Not cool, especially if you’ve spent money on that stuff, only to lose it without actually getting to use it.
Dr Mario
by Basbro on 2019/08/16 11:29
Everyone received the extra comp, however bugs are still there. In versus mode, in the middle of game, I keep getting communication error, then it shows me loosing when clearly I am not. In stage mode, I am at max it will go. This can’t be, I just started playing this game. It’s not worth buying or putting any money till these bugs get fixed. Also, how are the other players using different characters and I have not been able to change mine? Confused! I will reevaluate once bugs are fixed.
HATE THE BUGS!!
by Stayce74 on 2019/08/16 11:19
I love this app and this game BUT the bugs need fixed BAD!! It crashes or doesn’t load at all. If not for that I would give it 5 stars.
Error 0007 all the time
by Troubleinc on 2019/08/16 05:45
So I was enjoying this game quite a bit. Around 4.5 stars enjoying it. Then the error code started. I have been disconnected 5 times in the last 10 min. Yes I am at home, yes I am right next to the wireless router. It’s not my connection, thank you. Do not get this game unless you like staring at screen displaying error 0007. I will not change my review or rating until Nintendo solves this issue. Stay away until they announce its fixed!!

Communication error
by Maverick_dts on 2019/08/16 03:59
This game is full of bugs... and I’m not talking about the red, blue, and green kind. It’s a fun game and brings back memories of my childhood, but Nintendo needs to get their act together on resolving the constant communication errors. I’ve lost multiple matches, many lives in single player mode and a decent bit of gems because the game decided to drop connection randomly. Load times are also atrocious... come on Nintendo, you make games for a living... Mario deserves better than this.
Update please
by NYBX baby on 2019/08/16 03:57
Please allow the user to play even without WiFi. Sometimes WiFi won’t work while traveling and it would be nice to still be able to play the game. Most other games allow you to still play and when it can connect it will connect.
Great games just need fixes.
by Didomum on 2019/08/16 03:56
I love the game but the crashing on versus and the dragging on line can put you off hope this up date works. Well update did not help at all would be a good game but if you can’t fix it it’s not worth playing. Update didn’t help just keeps crashing so time to change games. It’s a shame as I really liked at first but if it’s not going to work.
Good luck in Verses
by raspberryflavored on 2019/08/16 03:28
I’m not going to say I’m amazing at Dr. MARIO but it’s just a little too uncanny that I will win one or two, lose 5 in a row, often because I suddenly went from killing my last couple viruses to 5 rows full and passed the bottom and then back to winning a few times, and then losing. The predictability of my losses, tells me the game has an algorithm built in but it’s just straight out garbage. I completely accept the games I clearly screwed up. But the ones that suddenly blindside me with rows all the way to the bottom within seconds is garbage. Especially if I lose because I was in the process of moving a pill. It’s just poor.
It was fun...
by Jaz Robs on 2019/08/16 02:17
It’s slow to load but i call shenanigans on level 113. I get so close I need one more pill and all I get are colors I don’t need. I refuse to pay I’ve been stuck on this level for 3 weeks.
I’d Rather Pay Once
by Markicus on 2019/08/16 02:06
I love playing the game, but I hate the freemium micro transaction model. I’d rather pay for a game once. Also, I couldn’t get past level 170 so I deleted the app and stopped playing out of frustration. It was good until that point though.
Fun but buggy!
by SallyStar<3 on 2019/08/16 00:42
I enjoy playing this game a lot, however connection issues take the fun out of the game and make me want to remove the app off my phone! During versus mode the delay in tile placements is so bad that it crashes the game and automatically loses to the competitor. Definitely needs a lot of work, also maybe customizing or changing the music, same beat gets a little boring!
Versus mode does not work on older devices
by noNick26 on 2019/08/15 19:55
I like this game but unfortunately I can’t play in versus mode because it crashes every time. I have an IPad Air 1 with only 1GB ram and even though the game says it works on IPad you need to read the details to see the you really need at least 2GB ram. The game has a shorter life span with only single player mode and I need to delete all the multiplayer quests.
Level 113 impossible without$$$
by over all of it 117 on 2019/08/15 19:36
I’ve been on level 113 for two weeks. Power ups and “toads pity” does nothing to get the level completed.
For such a simple game it sure is buggy
by froman46992 on 2019/08/15 17:58
This game is improving with updates but it's still so buggy. Controlling the placement of pills is difficult at times. If you have no plus left but your power up is ready you can't use your power up unless you have a floating pill, you at one point couldn't use a powerup "diamonds" pill if it were your last eventhough you could win with it, but must annoying of all is the sensitivity makes it so I can't even move floating pills sometimes or I'll place it one spot and it jumps a spot ahead and is unmoveable ruining a good run. It's fun but feels oddly sloppy coming from Nintendo.
I wish it came out earlier so I can play it👍😎
by bleepis on 2019/08/15 17:01
The game has you working and the game is so fun I’m shocked that Nintendo didn’t think of this sooner but I’m happy it came out because it’s a good game👌😊

by Nickname Will el bueno on 2019/08/15 02:33
I enjoy playing this game but it becomes very frustrating when it keeps having communication errors. This causes the game to instantly stop and mark the player as a lost round. Very annoying. Hopefully the developers that are making money from the game can spend some of their resources to fix this bug ASAP!!
I love it!

Great game
by Fefeface on 2019/08/15 02:21
I love the game but there are some bugs that need to be worked out. When you are versing someone it will abruptly take out of the game and take you back to the staged levels. You lose points too if that happens. I also do not like the fact you lose a life every time you play a level. If you lose the level I understand, but if you win you should be able to keep lives.
Concept is good....
by KB829 on 2019/08/15 02:20
I feel like they released this game a bit too early. It’s slow and reloads a lot. I just got kicked out of versus mode 3 times in a row. It’s hard to earn diamonds and they are way too expensive to buy. You lose hearts too fast. I don’t feel like you should lose a heart on any level that you beat....which you do if you are going back to try to earn 3 stars on a level. It’s different from the old school game but fun and challenging when it works right.
Connectivity Issues
by Juken11 on 2019/08/15 02:20
This would be such a great game if the connectivity issues weren’t so present. It is especially bad in the versus mode because you automatically lose that match.
Too many glitches.
by Jackie Garcia on 2019/08/15 02:17
This game is so addicting, but the only reason I’m not giving it a 5 star is due to the fact that there is too many glitches. The most common right now is when you are in versus mode, I either get kicked out or the other player gets kicked off and says I left the game or they left the game, then taking your points. It gets aggravating specially when you’re in the zone trying to get a high score and that happens to you. Or it’s says you lost when the game isn’t over yet. Hope they fix all that then I will give them a 5 star.

Game keeps freezing
by Coopermeister on 2019/08/14 21:50
I have poor connection in my home. The game keeps freezing with internet errors, and I lose my game. Why is internet required to play???? Surely when playing single player losing connection for a second or two shouldn’t crash the app???
It Can’t stop Crashing
by bluesredspurples on 2019/08/14 19:15
This game is fun, but that all gets taken away when the game crashes and crashes and crashes!! If you’re a serious gamer like myself, I do not recommend you go though the stress of your game crashing very frequently and the most inconvenient of times. I really plead with the developers to address the issue, it ruins what could be a really great game.
Yikes.

The Versus Mode Is Rigged
by Mr.NoSense on 2019/08/14 15:13
Everytime I play against someone on versus mode against Dr.Bowser, I always get more viruses on the screen. What gives!? I mean don’t understand how at one point I’m winning, and the next minute, I’m losing against my opponent for no logical reason. What the hell? Nintendo needs to fix some of the characters such as; Dr.Ludwig, Dr.Wendy Koopa, Dr.Bowser Jr. and Dr.Bowser. These four Mario antagonists need to be fixed immediately because they are simply BROKEN! The versus mode automatically decides who’s going to win and nobody seems to notice this? I hate the fact that I end up losing a battle against people who use broken characters to cheat their way through and that’s not fair. It’s frustrating for me because it’s very hard and difficult to get the next level to become Top Tier. Anyone with a sane mind could see that this versus mode is rigged knowing full well to their knowledge that they should win, instead, they end up losing the battle because of this nonsense. I was playing against someone online the other day and I thought my opponent was losing and I swear to you that I had the impression I was going to win. lol and behold, I end up not winning due to me getting four or five rows of more viruses than usual. This is complete bullsh*t and Nintendo should fix these broken villainous characters. Thank you for listening.
Fun solo play, Verses needs to be fixed
by ZZCheeks on 2019/08/14 12:40
The solo play is challenging and will keep you entertained. The verses mode has problems, so be warned and don’t get frustrated when the nonsense starts. You will lose games for no reason. The game will disconnect just as you are going to win. But when it works, you will have fun.

Still quite a few technical issues.
by Nanrsplits on 2019/08/14 07:52
I like the game overall. The versus challenge is what I’m having issues with though. It’s like once I really get into it, I get dropped from the game and I lose points. It’s done it three times so far and I’ve stopped because I worked so hard to get to Teir 5. I guess I’ll wait a few days to see if it gets resolved. Is anyone else having these issues?
Crashes
by kaytuhda on 2019/08/14 04:39
It's a fun game but every time I'm about to win on the verses mode, it crashes. Please fix this, thanks.
Would be fun if it wasn’t so glitchy
by kfam08 on 2019/08/14 03:33
If this game would run properly, it’s amazing. It’s full of screen jumping, levels that don’t end despite being cleared, Dr’s and assistants that do not use their power ups, and other myriad of game ruining problems. I’m stuck going up and down the same 200pts in VS mode because of these terrible, fun killing problems. It seems every time there is a “fix” new issues crop up more prevalent and horrifying for the gamer than before. If you love to be a loser, this game is totally for you 👌🏼

i love this game when it works properly. however, i’ve been having a lot of issues when i’m playing versus and it’s super frustrating when the game kicks me out since it counts as a forfeit. i hope this gets resolved soon...
Very fun but frustrating
by PIGGIE OM NOMNOM on 2019/08/14 02:14
I enjoy this game until I have one blue virus left and you give me red and yellow capsules until I run out. This happens too often and I don’t want to wait thirty minutes for something I could’ve beat with two capsules with blue.

Bugs
by katwp on 2019/08/14 00:00
This game is fun but still so many bugs! It freezes all the time and I constantly get error messages ending a current game. Worst part is I lose lives, and you only get five at a time. And sometimes I’ve used diamonds for these lives also. When it happens in versus mode, I automatically lose and lose my points, even when I was winning when the error popped up! Frustrating. I certainly won’t be spending money on this one!

Great game, but man does it take forever to load. And then I can’t play without internet connection? That’s lame. I want to be able to play on a plane, or when I was camping last weekend- no dice. If you don’t have reception, you’re not playing.

It’s really frustrating the capsules on the right side of the play screen can’t be moved. They end up landing where you don’t want them and then you end up losing because of this bug.

One star for unstable during vs. mode
by Ios7 update on 2019/08/13 02:59
This game started out great. I enjoyed but lately during vs. mode I kept getting kicking me off and I end up with a lost of my battle points. I thought it might have been a minor flaw, but I was so wrong. It happened to me maybe 6, 7 times in a span of 10 games of me trying to collect my keys. The one star rating remains until this is fix.

Why Nintendo?
by casademike on 2019/08/13 02:23
Pretty good game. But super-disappointed to see Nintendo go the route of Micro Transactions. I’m happy to pay for games, but this scarcity of play time/resources and pay-to-win stuff has got to go. It’s really ruining mobile gaming as a whole. I get Nintendo didn’t make as much as it projected on MARIO Run, but you’re better than what you ended up doing here. Update: constant server issues. Spinner appearing in the middle of games. Even after the big update. Update: Daughter played for days and then lost all her progress and characters. Tried to back up progress from her tablet, created her a Nintendo account only to get an error that you can’t play Dr MARIO with her Nintendo account. Nintendo is totally squandering their iconic brand with all this nonsense. They need to get serious and stop partnering with amateurs.

Frustrating when pills won’t move, stutter move, or move to unintended location
by Zina5K on 2019/08/12 09:58
It’s frustrating when pills won’t move, stutter move, or move to unintended location. I continue to receive notices that this issue has been remedied, and yet it hasn’t. I actually believe it is worse now in upper levels. The game is fun, and I am slightly addicted lol, but when this continuously happens it causes me to shut it down and move on to something else. I certainly don’t want to pay for lives only to lose them in this way.
Crashes a lot loosing data. Can’t play versus.
by Ggsaysha on 2019/08/12 05:58
I had been waiting to play this since the announcement because I loved playing on other system. However I cannot play versus. I can’t even get to the tutorial, because the game crashes and closes out of the app. Also it has a tendency to crash during or right after I have completed a level and it closes out the app. Because of this I loose my hard work and my lives and power ups I may have used. Just wish the game would work so I could enjoy it.

Dr. Mario World Grind
by ~[Spartan132]~ on 2019/08/12 03:28
The gameplay is addictive as intended and the atmosphere is good. I have been a fan of Mario since I was a child. Nintendo has basically ruined the experience with micro-transactions and forced scarcity. It’s laughable that developers strangle their player base. 5 lives and the requirement to use 4,000 coins to get one doctor or assistant. A child’s source of enjoyment turned gamblers paradise. I chose to buy the tier 5 bonus pack ($19.99) and regretted it after I found that there was a skill level 4... and it requires 9. Good luck! Randomization wastes your time and money. At least with Super Mario Run they put the player first with a reasonable cost. I would have paid $50, cause I believe in supporting developers when it’s deserved. This game was fun for a month... can’t say it will hold my attention much longer. Any game that allows multiple transactions that could exceed thousands of dollars should set the bar high. Anyway, coins are scarce, lives are scarce, rewards are random, so pay to play... not just once, but keep on paying. It’s fun!

Favoritisms of the Chinese and Japanese
by Babygirl95r on 2019/08/12 00:35
Since the update the only time I can win is when I play solo or American people. The Chinese and Japanese always cheat in the versus mode. I can have the advantage by using a level 4 character against their level one and somehow I clear the viruses before they do and they end up miraculously adding row after row to mine. Also after the update the game would not let me play I had to create a new account and start over
Ignore the haters: this is a fun, clever game. And it’s free!
by zzmoviecom on 2019/07/20 07:10
You see here’s the thing with haters: if they have to pay for anything that got all toddler like, throw a tantrum and give a great game one star. Folks. This game is free. Period. End of story. You never need to spend a dime. I played for 8 hours today and couldn’t stop. Sure if you wish to spend money to play longer or power up your character (in essence, cheat your way to victory), go ahead, pay! For me, I love the challenge of no power ups. And if the game says I need to pay more or stop for 10 hours, nothing wrong with that! I need a break! Btw if you and at least 10 friends send heart back and forth to one another you will constantly have a flow of hearts to play with. Bottom line: this is one of Nintendo best phone games. Addictive. Fun. Thrilling. You want slower pace try the story mode. You want edge of your seat fast pace, try the vs mode (which btw right now is always there for you to play. So when main game shuts down for 10 hours, play the great vs mode!). I love this game. Just get it. Don’t spend a dime. Have fun.
Updated review
by 12gamer34 on 2019/07/23 20:00
I give 4 stars now because I received some extra lives, coins and diamonds. I’m not sure if this was to comp me or something everyone received. However it seems more fair. I will continue to keep an eye out to see how the game play is (hopefully improved). The game is fun but the app takes your lives and coins. Whenever you play a timed level, you lose a life even if you win that level... I also noticed that you lose lives when you replay levels to try and get a better score (3 stars). It could be that that’s why the timed levels end up with me losing lives when I win. Either way, it’s ridiculous to lose a life when you win a level. Also, twice today while playing a timed level, the game stops itself (you see the turning pill) and even though you can’t do anything, you see the time clock tick down (in chunks since it’s glitchy). I lost two lives because of it and 200 coins I spent on an upgrade. It’s not worth it if I only get 5 min of play (or less) at a time. Then it takes 30 min to replenish one life. Why would anyone waste money on this app if it so easily gets rid of your lives and coins for no good reason. I think recently took a star away from the review because these past two nights I have received an error that the game is offline for maintenance. It was only a little after 9pm this evening and the message states it will be down until midnight.
Some parts ok, some not.
by Cammie Teach on 2019/07/13 15:21
Ok I like the game overall and the game play. I even like the changes from original in that sense too. But I have a couple of issues. One, and I have noticed a lot having these issues; there is a major issue with loading errors and things during the middle of levels and it often takes away resources when you swipe out and come back to it, which is truly ridiculous. I mean it is a brand new game. Also, I do not like that I am stuck with my doctor. I feel like if it gives you 3 choices at the beginning, you should be able to switch between those 3. It is unfair, that you are stuck with your choice especially since maybe you didn’t understand at first and since the skills build so slowly. And to my understanding that’s the only way to get more I think? Hopefully y’all can get bugs worked out soon, otherwise I might not keep playing. But for now I will be patient. Originally gave y’all 3 stars now dropping to two. Glad you fixed bugs, seems to be all right so far, but I now have a new issue. I leveled up my doctor to the second tier and I can’t get that tier unless I purchase it! That is ridiculous! Sad thing is I don’t mind in app purchases, but not if it is something I or any other player has rightly earned as an achievement-I am not made of money! And as I said I refuse to purchase sometimes rightfully earned! Still being patient because I love Mario, but if my patience drop much more, I will probably drop the game as well.
Great game, needs bugs fixed
by AlexMichelle on 2019/07/23 23:18
I love the concept of the game, it presents a good challenge and different ways to approach things. It’s a unique game and addicting. However, the game freezes, crashes, or glitches far too often. On numerous occasions, I’ve beat a more difficult level only to have my screen frozen on the clearer screen. The only way to remedy the issue is to close out the app, which results in me having to complete the level again. It’s very frustrating. As others have said, my game crashes occasionally which also ends the present game. This creates another issue of lives, it’s frustrating to complete levels (which takes a life) only to have the game mess up and you have to use another life on a level you already completed. If these issues were fixed, I’d be playing this game all the time! Edit: it would be great if developers could arrange it to where the character skills actually help out. For instance, if I only have two viruses left and I’m using Bowser, my power up should actually hit those two viruses and not two rows that have nothing in them.... or when you’re down to one, the capsule should change to match that color to help out. It seems like you did it this way to make money. (This is more of a personal complaint, I am honestly more concerned about the bugs being fixed.)
Great game but can be improved. Plus waiting on more levels!
by Smileylilangel on 2019/08/05 15:57
I loved Dr Mario so I couldn't wait to get this game. The versus is more like the game I use to play but the stages are fun too. A few of the stages seem impossible. I had to use the diamonds I was gifted at least 3 times to pass levels, if I want gifted them I would have never bought them and most likely still be stuck. I played everyday and one level took me 4 days to pass! However now I reached the end of all the levels the have and are forced to play the other stages over ( to get better stars) or just versus. At least the versus doesn't use stars but I shouldn't have to use a life on a stage I already passed especially if I pass it again. I can see if I failed or had done worse. They also have "bonus" speed stages you can complete 3 and get a prize. I completed all 3 of the first one and it wasn't that great of a prize. I completed maybe one of the 3 on the other bonus stages throughout. I suggest if you don't finish the stage each time they add maybe 2/3 seconds on until you can complete it. I've played other games that do that and it helps. Otherwise some a impossible unless you use multiple helpers. I really hope they put more stages out otherwise I'll move on to something else. Plus it uses so much battery even on WiFi!!
Great game, even for a micro transactions game. Just a bit unstable!
by Twisted Code on 2019/07/13 21:55
Loads of fun, and really not too bad in terms of pushing for micro transactions. Sure, you still have to wait for lives occasionally, but there’s still a few things you can do while you wait, such as play versus mode or (if you have enough) spend your coins on staffing. My biggest and really only complaint about this game, so far at least, is that it seems to be very crash-prone. In just the past 15 minutes of trying to play versus mode for the first time, it’s crashed 3 times, once during the tutorial, once after matchmaking (I lost by default and was penalized trophies for it), and once after a game. Kind of takes the fun out of versus mode if I’m going to be unable to advance due to technicalities (losing half of the time to crashes and half of the time because I didn’t play as well as my apartment). Needless to say, it’s a bit disappointing and I really hope they can fix it! And naturally, if they do, I’ll change this rating to five stars :-) (If I had to guess, I would say the game might be running out of memory? My tablet, an iPad Air, It’s a few years old as well, so it might be a more general deficiency in system resources. I really can’t say for sure without seeing the application‘s log, though)
Character Skills and Leveling Up
by Chardanae V. on 2019/08/11 06:00
As I said in a previous review, this game is addicting and fun to play when I’m able to breeze through levels. Even despite the numerous bugs, I’m somewhat able to enjoy it. However, the whole premise of leveling up a character’s skill is really stupid to me. You mean to tell me I can ONLY level up my doctor if I’m lucky enough to get them from the randomized draw on multiple occasions? Not to mention tickets are rare and earning 4000 coins takes a while, especially since you can only earn max 150 coins per regular level. I feel like the doctors should have an HP meter. I’ve been using Luigi for more than 100 levels and I find it stupid that i haven’t been able to level him up since the only way I can is by getting him via coins or a ticket (and I’ve used several tickets and spent lots of coins in that 100 level timespan, but never got him a second time). It would make the skill thing more convenient and honestly better. And besides the randomization of doctors/assistants is dumb anyway, and what’s the point of the roulette even spinning if the icon will always land on the question mark?? There’s so many things that could be improved to better this game...but this is only version 1.0.5....so I’ll try my best to be patient and wait for better future updates.
Has a few flaws, but fun nonetheless
by Snapple Shibes on 2019/07/28 22:44
Dr. Mario has always been a game I’ve enjoyed so it’s hard to get me to dislike any version of it. This app definitely doesn’t disappoint. However, the fact that the app requires you to be online all the time is troublesome for my device. I travel a lot for my job so when I find myself in a place with service while starting a level then end up without service momentarily, the game just hangs and I lose a life because I have to restart the app. It doesn’t matter if I get service back - once it’s out, it’s out. The only other frustrating experience I have is when you get a spare capsule piece to move around, sometimes it doesn’t want to go where you want it to. It feels like an invisible wall is put up. I’ll find myself fruitlessly dragging a piece near the top of the board just to have it get stuck in a hole right before it. Other than this though I haven’t had the issues others have had too often. The reimbursement for extra diamonds and hearts was a nice gesture. This is definitely worth a play through. Also, the music is very repetitive so have an alternate soundtrack ready by the time you hit level 50.
Fun game
by Killed by giant chiken on 2019/07/12 08:06
Nintendo, you guys always make fun games, and I get that this was free (and I’d totally be willing to drop 10 bucks for the game) and I’m super happy about that, but collecting diamonds is way to hard, and buying diamonds is way to expensive. You can’t collect items unless you get really lucky, or have actual money to burn through, and coin collection is tough but can be fun. So if it’s possible maybe making it so it’s easier to collect coins, and to collect power ups. I’d be willing to “pay” for the game if you’d do that. Also it’s a nice touch having the life bar, but there are to little lives so they run out very quick. Now on the other hand, the game is very well put together. It is one of my favorite puzzle games at the moment top 5 at least. The music is fun (could be more variety) and the levels are very fun and sometimes super challenging. As for versus mode it’s actually a blast and very fast paced. Maybe touch up on a couple things, and add a few things to it to make it more fun, but either way I really enjoy the game, and if any actually reads this and is curious about getting it, don’t let the cons deceive you, download the game and start destroying those viruses because this game is a blast!
Way better than I thought it would be!
by FIX TEAM DOMINATION on 2019/07/11 13:31
After playing super Mario, i thought this would be just as easy. The only thing I didn’t like about super Mario was how I have WAY to much coins and tickets than I can spend. It just didn’t feel like I was earning it all. But Dr. Mario world is AWESOME, my favorite thing is the music and graphics. I have a classic N.E.S so I play Dr. mario every now and then, and it’s one of my favorite games on the Nintendo, so when I heard there was Dr. mario coming on the App Store I had to get it! All though I then thought it might be disappointing like Super Mario. But it’s not. I love how the music is like the classic music, only better; more modern. And back to coins thing. I never get more coins( or other types of currency) than I need, which doesn’t seem like a big deal but it’s such a relief after playing Super Mario. Great game! It won’t disappoint! Also one more thing, it’s the PERFECT difficulty! Great if you like puzzles!
Paging Dr. Mario!
by Doopliss77 on 2019/07/10 21:46
Dr. Mario, despite it’s more than 20-year history, hasn’t changed much. Dr. Mario World has added more to do and play with than any entry I’ve ever played, but at the same time it lacks some of the satisfying release-of-tension that the older games had. While the traditional Dr. Mario gameplay has more in common with Tetris—where vitamins fall at increasing speeds and it’s up to the player to place them carefully—in World, you drop individual capsules whenever you like. It effectively shifts the challenge from a time-based one to more of a focused puzzler where you have time to think and plan ahead. It works pretty well while still feeling familiar, but it’s strayed far from its falling-block roots. That game takes its sweet time ramping up the difficulty, but by the time it gets into the swing of things, I found it to be pretty fun if a bit slow. And it’s forgiving as far as IAPs go. The energy meter is generous and I haven’t seen any use for diamonds yet, which you pay real money for. Online Versus mode is a treasure, and requires no energy to play, so I expect that after a while that’s where I’ll spend most of my time.
Needs lots of work
by Gina-98! on 2019/07/30 14:08
I never write reviews! I like this game/concept but it’s completely lame compared to other games and the prizes rewarded are cheap at best. And now I’ve finished all the worlds so I’m going back to try and get 3 stars and I can’t hardly earn any coins replaying levels? Like really? Lame. So basically I can’t make any decent amount of coins until YOU make More levels. Also, when you pass a entire world, it would be nice to get some sort of reward like full hearts or something. Check out the game SEGA hero’s. I’ve been playing that forever because it’s worth the time and effort. Your game so far is not worth the time although it’s fun and addicting, the rewards and payoff aren’t even close to worth it compared to different games. If I’m spending money on your game, I expect for you guys to put out some decent rewards too. Such a stingy game for rewards and very disappointing. I’ve spent $ on this game and now I’m done cuz I can’t get a decent amount of coins by going back and replaying levels. The optional special timed levels are too difficult also. The game is also super glitchy. I’m mad I wasted time playing this game because I really like it but unless they make the reward system better and more fair, I’m done.
Awesome, but with a major flaw
by Scratch-O on 2019/07/13 09:54
TL;DR: One of the funnest match-three games on iOS, and absolutely worth trying at least the first five or ten levels, but think hard about which starter character you choose. This is probably the best way they could have adapted Dr. Mario to mobile devices. I can’t think of a better way, at least. The shift from the previous games’ faster, Tetris-esque block-based piece movement toward the slower and more strategic style of Brain Age’s Virus Buster mode was flawless. The unlimited-time-limited-capsules mechanic is a refreshing new spin on the iOS match-three formula, encouraging the player to take their time thinking about optimal piece placement. The lives system is extremely forgiving (you spend a life to start a stage and get it back if you beat it). The problem, and this is a very major problem, is that the gacha mechanic is waaaaay too expensive. Thankfully, you can get by just fine with the basic currency, and the random drop rates are the same regardless of whether you use coins or diamonds. Still, buying diamonds at this point just feels like throwing money into a fire.
Addicting and fun! Despite the micro-transactions!
by tyno7 on 2019/07/11 16:03
As much as I hate gacha mechanics, this game takes the Dr. Mario formula and twists it in a fun, easy, and unique way juuust enough where I feel it adds a lot of challenge and depth to the overall gameplay. Especially in versus. That mode is intense, and learning how to be fast is key. You don’t have to pay a dime to play this game, the stages are fun, challenging, and occasionally throw in new ideas. I really enjoy this a lot so much, but maybe chop down the prices of diamonds? It seems a bit much xD. If Nintendo chops it down a bit I may just end up spending a buck or two~. One little gripe in versus mode, please tone down Bowser’s attacking power xD. One moment you’d be fine, and the next you’d have your screen filled with blocks or viruses to the point you’re bound to just give up and lose. I understand it takes him longer to attack, but with high skilled players it’s basically as if he was a 2-3 attack power rather than a 4. So he feels too OP. But anyway, great game so far, super addicting, fun, cute, and really fun to play with friends. 4/5.
Pay to Win
by DavidVisitsEarth on 2019/07/20 16:45
A lot of the positive reviews must be from people who only played to first 20-30 levels, or who are incentivized to write a good review. This game is designed to cause you to buy items to either 3 star or even pass some levels- like the bonus levels. Admittedly, I don’t even mind the challenge of the difficult timed bonus levels if I had more than 5 tries. This game relies far too heavily on items than it does game play, and it really takes away from the great platform for Dr Mario that they’ve created. This game translates nicely to mobile, and I would have rather payed for the game, and had it based around timed levels and difficulty. I’ve played my share of panda pop and candy crush, and after the first two worlds, I observed that this game pushes the need for items a lot more than its predecessors. Two star rating based on the devs holding back on design and challenge in exchange for pushing items and micro transactions. One star because of all the shills giving it five. Would easily be five star if released as a real game with challenging levels. I would’ve paid $15-$20 at least for this game had it been challenge based and completely unlocked. I am a big fan of Mario Run for that reason.
Lots of potential held back by bugs.
by Bighebnn on 2019/08/06 22:28
This is a really addictive and surprisingly challenging game that is sadly plagued with technical problems that get in the way. One bug seems to freeze the game whenever I complete a level for the first time. Once you complete the level the game board is cleared but nothing happens. The other issue is the servers. Having to connect to the servers takes way too long and connection errors occur regularly. This is especially annoying playing the versus mode. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in the middle of a match only to suddenly lose the round because an error occurs. Once these issues are fixed I’ll gladly update my review and give the game a five star review. Also, there are microtransactions in the game but work in the same way as many other mobile games. There’s premium currency that can be bought to do things like replenishing your lives, buying items that can be used in levels etc. P.S. some of the levels need to be rebalanced. Level 180 is ridiculous.
The Loot Llama
by The Loot Llama on 2019/08/04 01:51
The versus mode is rigged. Your not playing against real people. The fake people can have an advantage while you don’t and the other way around. So basically what I am saying is the game knows who is going to win before you play. Some of the characters you get don’t help you at all and they all should help you a lot because you worked hard to get them. All I am saying is it’s not that hard to make a good MARIO game. I am not saying great but everybody likes MARIO so as long as you make an ok MARIO game people will play it. Let me tell you that this game is trash and with other games out there that are more fun such as Fortnite why would you waste your time or money playing this game. Not to mention that it has to have maintenance everyday and doesn’t improve the gameplay at all. The only reason I didn’t give it one star is because then it wouldn’t get read and people wouldn’t get warned before playing the game. If you are going to play the game that’s fine. I mean there’s nothing I can do to stop you but whatever you do don’t waste your money on the game. This game is a scam and it should get taken out of the App Store immediately.
Unique Puzzle Game
by Trainer765 on 2019/07/13 00:47
Although it is not exactly like the traditional Dr. Mario, it has a very fun and interesting design. It continues to add techniques and teaches you how to be better at the game throughout stage mode. I’ve tried several puzzle games on iOS, but I couldn’t really get into any of them very much at all. I don’t know if it’s the fact it’s Mario or if it is its unique design. But overall I’ve only played through the first 40 levels and I am loving the game. Also everything in the game can be unlocked without the use of purchasing gems. So, I can play the game completely free. If I had one complaint, is that you have to have an internet connection in order to keep your progress saved. Otherwise, an extremely well put together puzzle game, that I will most likely put hours and hours in to. I 100% recommend to anyone wanting to get into or is interested in the puzzle genre.
I wish I was playing this game right now
by Pixopo on 2019/07/13 06:40
I am very hooked on this game and I only stopped playing to write this review because I am now out of lives because of the frequent communication errors I am experiencing. A very stable internet connection is required to play this game without constant interruptions from these communication error pop up messages. When you start a stage in this Dr. Mario, one “play” is subtracted at the beginning and when you’re in the middle of the stage sometimes communication errors will pop up and kick you out of the game but the life you used to start it is still used up and not given back. This is annoying as the lives are not free and cost either in game currency (which costs real money) or time. In addition, sometimes you can earn a few extra lives in levels on top of the one you are granted for succeeding as compensation for using one to begin, but with slow internet, these bonuses will not be granted to you. The mechanics of the game are really good and addicting honestly but beyond that but the communication error I and many others are experiencing make it literally impossible to play the game.
Great, Not Perfect
by TomboyTimon on 2019/07/16 02:30
The general gameplay is very fun. A big improvement compared to my memories with the NES game. I really like the inclusion of more characters, too, but I'm still waiting on Princess Daisy. I feel like there are one too many issues with the competitive Versus mode. It often feels like the random chance of what pieces you draw greatly undermines personal skill. I find myself losing matches online due to odd instances of the game jumping screen to speed up the match and thinking a piece I had free falling or on hold to be beyond the Game Over zone. The Heart system is tedious when you're trying to complete the Challenge levels, which are 3 timed levels in each World. These take a lot of practice and determination, so the Heart system really shouldn't apply to these, in my opinion. You're going to need to add friends to avoid getting frustrated with the Heart system, in general. The microtransactions prices are very, uhm, high-end. The only deals with considering are the special Diamond packs you get from ranking up in Versus rankings. The way staff levels up, you need at least 3 draws of the same character to get from level 2 to level 3. Which seems ludicrous considering how many assistants there are. I'm writing this just days off of the game’s launch, so I'm sure there's plenty time for improvement. Then again, we all know how they don't give Super Mario Run the same attention they give Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem, so who knows...
Don’t play
by Just_J0hn on 2019/08/10 15:17
The game feels like it’s paid a win in someway shape or form, because each character has a different ability that will help in certain stages but hinder them and others, once you choose one of the three characters in the beginning of the game, you cannot select them again, you are permanently stuck with that character. For example, if you select Mario, you’re stuck with Mario until you can get another doctor, which you can only get through the staffing option, but that requires you to either collect 4000 coins, 40 diamonds, or use a staffing ticket, which even then you’re more likely to get an assistant and that same assistant multiple times over then to get another doctor. In short, the main mom doesn’t feel fair in anyway shape or form half the time, especially the challenge stages. Oh, and versus mode? Absolutely terrible. Extremely unbalanced, and even more unfair than the main story mode. I was so excited for this game, only to be disappointed at the very end after was released. Somehow, Nintendo seemed to have somehow ruin Dr. Mario.
Great game, still buggy
by v_for_voice on 2019/07/21 13:56
The game itself is super fun. I like the different levels, and switching up the objectives keeps it from getting too repetitive. However, it will often freeze up during play, no matter how strong the wifi. On versus rounds this is pretty much an automatic loss. On world rounds that aren't timed you can sometimes wait for the connection to come back, but if it doesn't, you lose a life. Since you have to pay real money for extra lives, this is a serious flaw in gameplay. Other issues I would like to see addressed: ~ The only way to get clear gems without paying for them is by opening the right box after winning 7 versus rounds. I would like to see more ways to win gems. ~ Nowhere on the app itself or its corresponding website can I find any info on gameplay or items. For example, in versus mode the characters have numbers next to them with no explanation of what they reference. I think possibly it indicates the power of that doctor's attack? But Bowser, which has a 4, will often lose to a character with a 1 or 2 so not really sure how it makes a difference. Also, is it possible to level up attacks? Can you change your doctor? The world may never know, because there is no game guide to be found. I know this game is new and they're still working through some of these issues, so I look forward to editing my review in the hopefully near future, before these annoyances put an end to my interest in the game.
Ruined by greed
by seven 1 on 2019/07/13 15:49
As a long-time fan of Nintendo I have to say that I expected more. If there’s one thing I cannot stand it’s this absurd model where developers nickel-and-dime you do death. They could simply ask some reasonable amount for the game upfront, but they’d rather you play the slot machine they have disguised as a game. Buying their version of in-game currency is what you’ll be doing, and even if you spent $30 your experience will be mediocre. Do you want to play for 60 minutes, that will cost you $5. In order to play this game, uninterrupted, on say a 5 hour flight, it will cost you about $20. Why bother with that? This game isn’t good enough to warrant that sort of cost. You’re playing a match-3 game for cryin’ out loud; there much better games for less that let you pay up front and be done. There is no value here. I only gave 2 stars in the hopes that Nintendo will return to what they do best - making great games that don’t take ridiculous advantage of customers. This is the sort of behavior that, if repeated, will make me lose interest in Nintendo altogether.
Addictive but needs work!
by SurelyGaming on 2019/07/25 18:22
I’ve been playing this game since the day it came out and I’ve loved it. It’s very addictive but there are a couple of problems I have with the game. First of all it’s pretty glitchy (which is expected for a fairly new game) and when I close out of the app for a little bit or turn off my phone I’m unable to play any of the levels and I have to refresh the whole game. But since it’s new I expect some bug fixes in the future. My second problem with the game is the life system. I realize you guys need the make money somehow but the unlocking characters should do that. Nobody with a brain will pay money to refill their lives no matter how addicting the game is. If you really want people to enjoy it get rid of the life system or make a team option where you can join a team and request lives from people on your team. I have high hopes for this game in the future so please fix these problems.
Having a virus-busting blast!
by Mariorox1956 on 2019/07/21 13:28
Nintendo’s been on a roll with these mobile games. Super Mario Run was good fun for me, and this is no different. Dr. Mario World’s gameplay is similar to the original: line up pills to clear those pesky viruses. However, they’ve tweaked it so it makes for a good match-3 game. Story mode is slower and a bit more methodical with your pill placement, but chaining your matches successfully is a satisfying feeling. If you’re looking for high-octane matching action, Vs. mode is for you. I’ve only played this game for a few days, and I’m hopelessly addicted. The only minor problem I’m having is infrequent crashes, which can be a pain if you’re in the middle of a Vs. match. I’m sure this will be fixed in a future update, but this doesn’t ruin the game for me whatsoever. If you’re a fan of Mario, good match-3 games, and a little competition, pick up this game. After all, it’s free.
Great but Glitchy
by Vaderblx on 2019/08/02 17:00
Dr. Mario World is really awesome. The gameplay is legit really good, especially versus mode. There are a lot of characters to unlock. This is probably Nintendo’s best game, tied with Mario Run. If you liked previous Dr. Mario games, GET THIS! It’s a masterpiece as far as mobile games go. I say that but there are also a ton of glitches. Sometimes when I tap on coins in the map, I don’t actually earn any coins. There has been a time in online mode where I won because I could simply do nothing on my board, I couldn’t place capsules but viruses couldn’t spawn either, so I ended up winning. The loading times for when you go back into the game after having your phone in sleep mode for a second are longer than the loading times for when you first open the game. Bad loading times too. Overall it’s a really great game. There are a lot of bugs that I’m sure will be fixed. I also wish there was a free way to earn diamonds.
Fun game but way too greedy
by BoltsFromAbove on 2019/07/20 02:16
– Game requires an internet connection, cannot be played offline; if you lose connection during a stage you’ll get booted off and lose a life. – Sometimes on pausing a stage and leaving the app, then returning, the game will “reconnect” and put you back where you were in the stage, but on finishing the stage, it will freeze up and not give you credit for the win; you’ll also lose a life. – If you go back to stages you’ve already completed in order to get 3 stars, even if you win the stage you lose a life. The developers should take a look at Playrix’s gameplay model. Plenty of special events with opportunities to earn unlimited lives for a short time; instead of “winning” a life back when you beat a level (and even then only on the first time), you only lose a life if you lose a level; lots more opportunities to win power-ups. I happily dump money into Playrix micro-transactions on a regular basis because the game has their reward system figured out and it keeps me coming back to their games.
Amazing game
by bubbleslimer on 2019/08/07 17:54
Everyone in my whole family loves Nintendo and all the games. My brothers all of them (3) love Dr. Mario and Mario maker 2 but this game does have some issues on the phone. Even on some of the latest phones it will exit the game out of nowhere! It’s quite annoying, but the good thing is that Nintendo is working hard to get everything done and they are fixing bugs all the time. Btw all the doctors you can get are really cool and awesome just sometimes the powers they have are a little strange. Like daisy deletes one virus of the players choice but I think that’s a little mean because what if you have like even two viruses left and one capsule left that don’t even match the colors than you will still lose. Anyway I hope this will come in handy and I love doctor Mario. Nintendo please make changes on the powers for the doctors!
Really fun, but a few little things to improve
by Pokégirl18 on 2019/07/22 21:38
Ok, so to start off, this is a really fun game. I like how you get new characters, but it would be nice if it was a little cheaper. 4,000 coins per 1 possible character unlock just seems like a little much to me. Another thing that could be better is the Timer levels. There just isn’t a lot of time on those, and although that’s supposed to make it harder, it does its job a little TOO well for my taste. I feel like I’m being forced to make decisions way too fast and it causes me to make mistakes often, which usually result in them adding up and causing me to lose the game, there just isn’t enough time to think. I can handle it in Versus mode because there isn’t really a time limit, it just encourages you to move faster and think smarter. Other than those little details, it’s a great game. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes puzzle games.
VERY glitchy, you will lose lives and points (& $$)
by AlphaZebra on 2019/07/30 02:39
I love console-version Dr Mario and was super excited to see this app. Now if it would only work consistently... I have lost lives, levels and points every single day since I started playing it because the game gets stuck or all of a sudden kicks you out. You will receive error message after error message after error message. Extremely frustrating. And every single day at 11 pm EST it just won’t work. Seems like mid-afternoon has the same problem, too. It won’t log back in or connect for quite a while. More error messages. In fact, I’m writing this review right now because I haven’t been able to get in to play due to error messages for the last 20 mins. 🙄 Aside from all that, it’s fun and is nostalgic. But,I will not spend money on the app until it can be relied on. Otherwise it’s a waste of funds. I have never downloaded a game that has had this many problems for this long. Needs to be corrected to be a truly enjoyable game.
Great, but not great...(should of made a Switch game instead)
by LuliFox on 2019/08/08 00:11
I was excited for this game to come out and had fun playing this for a few days until I notice a few things that Nintendo did differently. There are micro transactions everywhere in this! And trying to get doctors and assistants is a joke! It more like a gacha machine where the doctors are the most rarest to get and the assistants are common to obtain. You need ALOT of luck to make progress. The game is really trying to get you to spend money but most of us don’t want to spend too much. Nintendo should use the strategy that they have in Pocket Camp. Allow players to earn diamonds from certain levels and have a better log-in bonus that increases when you sign in everyday. At lease Pocket Camp is more forgiving than this. Also if there are other doctors in this game that were not previously in the franchise, than it’s not really a Dr. Mario game. This game feels like a spin-off that was just toss onto the App Store and is fishing for money from fans who like the series.
Great game bad lacking in areas
by Chymedes on 2019/07/18 05:55
The game is basically like every Facebook puzzle game, it’s just Mario flavored. My real issue with the game is levels and coins. As you play you earn coins and every 4K you can spin the gatcha roulette and get a doctor or a assistant. The problem is coins dry up fast and then you’re stuck doing boring dailies for small amounts. Sure, VS gives you some if you win but even that is small. My real gripe is level difficulty. I love hard games but a lot of levels feel like they have never been tested. When it takes me 40-50 tries to beat a middle tier stage that is terrifying to think how hard later ones will be. Overall the game is fun but it has no lasting power. It doesn’t even have a classic mode where you can just play old school dr Mario and see how far you can go. The game has potential but right now it only gives about 5-6 hours of playtime and it’s done.
Great
by MKRASTY1 on 2019/07/17 05:14
So this is a great game and it’s lots of fun but I have some complaints about it. The staff I g section, it’s not easy to come by the tickets you need or the diamonds if you don’t have the coins and to get 4000 coins takes some time. I’ve beaten almost 70 levels and have made it almost to tier 4 in versus and I have only been able to get new staff members twice on my own accord. Maybe make the tickets part of a reward that’s easier to get instead of only when you level up in versus or in the mystery box every 9 hours. Also, it crashes A LOT and tends to take some time to load. I’ve crashed several times during versus mode and it treats it like I quit the game and takes away my trophies for that. Maybe change it to where you don’t lost them if you quit you just don’t get them because it’s really not fair because it’s not like I’m choosing to quit. Other than that it’s a fun game.
Not as polished as Nintndo's other games
by Dialexio on 2019/07/28 15:35
This game was co-developed with a company different from the folks that bought us previous games like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Super Mario Run, and… it kinda shows. There doesn't seem to be that sense of Nintendo quality in this game; it feels like a generic mobile game with a Dr. Mario sticker slapped on its face. Everything in the game feels very… static, or dull. As far as gameplay goes, it's… basically Dr. Mario meets Candy Crush. You match three in a row, under certain constraints (e.g. limited pills, limited time). Not too bad… You start with a maximum of five hearts in story mode, which act as your stamina. Each heart takes 30 minutes to recover, but clearing a level successfully gives you a heart, so you can actually blitz through everything. Online play can be a train wreck. If your connection's just a little bit flaky, you might get disconnected from your rival and forfeit. I've also had numerous instances where I just seemingly lose from nowhere without getting disconnected, because apparently while I was still moving my piece. Thanks. 😒 When it comes to building your team up, Dr. Mario World uses the same "gacha" system we all know and love. It's incredibly tedious to obtain enough coins for one "staffing" to get more/better characters though… I guess that's how you gotta make your money. 🤷‍♂️ In all, there's a lot of room for improvement, but you can still get some enjoyment from this free-to-play game.
I don’t like games with these things...
by Coolcreeper113 on 2019/07/12 22:26
Okay look, it’s a good game, it has potential, it might have some bad victory screen graphics for a phone game but it has potential, now you may ask “But then why did you rate it two stars?” Because, you can play FIVE TIMES and then you have to wait to play ONE MORE TIME, I know Nintendo always had a lives system in their games but it’s been kept to you die, you lose a life, you can get more lives, not YOU LOSE A LIFE AND YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO COME BACK, I like playing games, don't you? It makes me SICK when I have to WAIT to retry the level I JUST LOST. Again that’s the only problem along with the weird victory screen graphics but their not that bad and I don’t mind them but the LIFE SYSTEM IS STUPID FOR A NINTENDO GAME, and you could argue that games like candy crush have this, but that’s made by another company, those guys are use to that, but when it’s something like that in a NINTENDO GAME THAT LIMITS THE AMOUNT OF TIME I CAN PLAY BEFORE I HAVE TO WAIT TO PLAY AGAIN, is borderline IDIOTIC Thank you for your time
Wonderful 21st Century version of Dr. Mario
by cCAND!CE on 2019/07/21 20:14
I’ve had this game for one day and I am obsessed with it. Dr. Mario is one of my favorite video games so having an iPhone app of the classic game, unchanged, would be a dream come true. I never thought the game could be improved upon but here we are. I have to admit, I was skeptical at first when I saw the pills float up instead of down and there was no time limit, but these adjustments make for some really fun and dynamic gameplay. They did a great job and bringing this game into the 21st century and the age of smart phones. On top of it all, there’s a versus mode which is what made me fall in love with Dr. Mario growing up. (I did notice the game freezes if you close and re-open the app on certain screens, but nothing that a little hard reset and perhaps an update won’t take care of.)
Super Fun, But Not Without Some Irritating Glitches
by literallymortified on 2019/08/03 06:08
I’ve been obsessed with Dr. Mario since forever, so I was super excited about this app! It’s massively addicting and I don’t mind paying for some diamonds so I can get extra pills if I really can’t pass a stage within about 5 tries. Getting new characters for doctors and assistants is awesome. And so is competing in Versus to try and get to the next tier. What gets annoying is when I have hearts in my inbox that say they’ll expire in 13 days and then the next day when I go to use them they’re gone!! Also, after I got to Tier 3 earlier in the week maintenance caused me to not be able to pick my 3 boxes as a prize, so I got nothing for winning my 7 rounds. Other than not getting my “prizes” that I’m owed, it’s a super fun and addicting game that my husband and I compete at (and I win) all throughout the day. Only giving it a 3 Star Rating because I keep losing out on hearts and prizes that would let me play longer.
Great puzzle game, micro-transactions and all
by RedRooster1012 on 2019/07/10 02:46
Nintendo made the perfect choice for putting Dr. Mario on mobile platforms as the gameplay is right at home along with its mobile counterparts. This feels like a Dr. Mario game through and through with the new story mode (not much of a story though but that’s fine) and versus mode being so much fun to play! Sure, there’s a bunch of micro-transactions here which can turn off some people. However, versus mode does not have a limit on the times played, so whenever you run out of hearts, this mode is waiting! And while characters and assistants unlock new abilities, there is not one that’s mandatory to progress. The gameplay is somewhat repetitive, but I truly admire the attempts to add new characters and layers to keep the formula from getting stale. Overall, this is a super fun title that fits for the platform and serves as a great puzzle game. Hope you enjoy it!
Fun Match-3! But...
by lindzlucy on 2019/07/09 14:52
TLDR: If you like “match-three-in-a-row” games, you will like this game. Right now I’ve encountered lots of bugs, but they’ll probably be figured out soon. I’ve been having a fun time with the beginning of this game. But I made it about 8 levels before I encountered a bug. (And not the kind I can destroy with the color pills). The bug made it impossible to continue the level, probably because I changed to a different app, but seemed to be fixed when I restarted the game. At level 9, I encountered another bug where I finished the level but it froze on the completion screen and I had to restart again. When I restarted it said I hadn’t cleared the level, thus I had to do it again even though I just beat it. At level 11, I encountered a bug that completely crashed the game. I’m not even sure what happened but it suddenly said “Your internet connection is unstable” (I’m connected to my home WiFi) but the level-up was displayed behind the error screen. I have really high hopes for this game, but as of right now I feel like I can’t play it because of these bugs. The game itself is a solid game, albeit a little... like every other matching mobile game just with Mario’s face on it. It has a straight forward match-3 gameplay we expect from Dr. Mario, but also some new twists I think fans will appreciate. Let’s hope it gets figured out soon!
Micro-Transaction Paradise for Nintendo
by Boski 2.0 on 2019/07/13 02:46
Started off fine, but then shows its micro-transaction heavy side. Micros are acceptable when the game is free and you are paying to make the game easier, but this game makes you pay to play if you restart levels. Some of the harder levels require a little trial and error, especially the time-based challenge ones. However, when you reset the level a few times, you lose “hearts.” Once you lose a few of them (i.e. gets to zero), you will be locked out of playing for 10 or so minutes UNLESS you want to pay real money for “diamonds” to keep playing. Makes me think of “Cana-dough” from South Park. Once that occurs, you can either wait 15 minutes to reopen the app (and be ALLOWED to play again) . . . or just delete it, and I chose the latter. Sad part is this will teach younger players to become addicted to it, paying God knows how much money to complete a “free” game. I get the game is “free,” but this is shameful micro-transaction grabbing when you lock players out unless they pay up.
Oddly satisfying
by TheEpicSwordsman on 2019/07/11 15:37
I was worried Dr. Mario World would fail to translate the classic formula into a mobile game, but to my surprise the game actually nailed it pretty well. It feels like Dr. Mario as you know it, but it also isn’t afraid to reinvent the wheel a bit to be more compatible for both modern times and mobile devices. I like a lot of the new features here. Some may not like the new slower pace that Dr. Mario World takes for its stages, the challenge being a limited number of capsules as opposed to the classic fast-pace thinking that the original games are known for, but thankfully Vs. mode offers a more traditional style of “against the clock” gameplay with another player, and I enjoy both the stages and Vs. Mode. I do wish that the characters and assistants were less luck based to get, but I don’t feel like the game is very aggressive with its monetization in that sense.
I want to love this...
by AFPatty on 2019/08/07 12:27
I want to love this modern Dr. Mario. The graphics are great and I like the new way to move and eliminate viruses. That said, it is ridiculous this game requires a data connection to be played. I’d love for my kids to be able to enjoy this game as much as I do but if they’re not sitting at home on WiFi they can’t even use it. Also, despite recent updates, this game constantly crashes or freezes cause me to lose the life and level I’m currently on. This has happened way too many times and there’s been several times it’s done it after I’ve won the level but before it says I’ve won. I know it’s not my phone causing the problems because I have the same issues on my iPad. Lastly, when going back to up your score/stars on previously completed levels you should not have to use a life or at least reward with a life. The level is won, give it back. I understand the lose a level, lose a life but not if you win.
Slow and Boring Puzzles
by strmpnk on 2019/07/09 19:51
This game takes what might look like Dr. Mario and adjusts it for a touch and drag interaction which works well enough given the limitations of touch controls. I’m not rating it at 2 out of 5 for not being exactly like the original game. The real disappointment comes from the puzzles themselves. They’re rather easy and it feels like a chore to go through the first 20 levels only to realize that the additional mechanics unlocked over time after that offer very little change in pace and depth of gameplay. Other nits include slow screen transitions when starting a new level and waiting for scoring and coins which just adds to the time waste one ends up feeling when playing the game. Perhaps this could be addressed with content updates but I’m not sure I’d be willing to tread through what feels like a sluggish progression to unlock additional content beyond the slightly over an hour that I’ve already put into the game.
Be Warned: Network Required
by bovilexic on 2019/07/29 07:40
Worst thing about this game, is even though it has a single player and puzzle option, you CANNOT play the game offline. So if traveling on a plane or with limited/no connectivity, then you cannot play the game at all - not just the versus mode, but none of the rest of the game either. Absolutely ridiculous with the spirit of a single player puzzle game, upon which Dr Mario is based, that you are so restricted in when and where you can play the game. Also there have been a very frequent number of server maintenance downtimes (including 3 hours tonight) which also prevent you from playing the game. So... forget being able to play this game much on the go. It will either prevent you from playing or lock up on you and kick you out of any puzzles you are playing if your connection drops. Way to go in ruining the fun of the single player portion of this game.
Timed levels
by Hrithmus1112 on 2019/07/11 13:44
I never write reviews however I disagree with some of the “This game doesn’t micro-transaction you”. The bonus times levels (Where you receive a chest at the end) is absolutely, 100% created for you to spend money. For example on 1b, on the very first world I have tried over 20 times and I get within 1-2 virus left with 1-2 seconds left. Sure enough I fail however I can spend diamonds to extend the level and beat it. Sure. I can spend $5 but that isn’t the point. It’s created for an absolute perfect run and placement of not you need to spend money. This was concerning. I don’t mind supporting the development but the way this was implemented is shady. Perhaps this is a bug or not enough time was givin and maybe an update will fit it but o highly doubt it. This is more a “Proceed with caution” on this title. I can smell corporate greed.
Nintendo did it again!
by Rez1775 on 2019/07/17 18:00
Awesome new take on an old classic. Every game nintendo has released on the mobile platform has been innovative and fun to play. Dr. Mario is a simple game similar to games like candy crush or toy rush, except its a reminder that nintendo more or less started this genre years ago! I love how you can unlock multiple characters to play as but the assistants you unlock are kind of boring and i dont play much mind to them. I also dont like how its 4,000 coins to have a chance at unlocking a character only to get an assistant. There arent a ton of characters to begin with but its a fair amount. Please update with more doctors and assistants with active abilities instead of passive abilities! The multiplayer is also pretty fun as well. I can spend a fair amount of time playing this game and even got my wife hooked up on it as well.
Fun but limiting
by A. Busy Mom on 2019/07/16 14:37
I am having a lot of fun and love that Dr. Mario has maps like other Mario games via Nintendo. I do wish time was more available for the timed levels - I play other games that if you don’t win in a certain amount of time that they add just a few more seconds each time you retry. I don’t always need much time but 3 seconds IF you get it as a mystery booster is just a little to short. I’m really not of losing lives even if you win a level. I’m totally behind losing the life your using when you lose but it should be able to be used until lost. The current way means waiting 30m-15Om. Yes, I’ve connected my game to Facebook but it’s not approved for their App Center (according to the message I get on my computer) so you have to know that another person plays in order to send them an invite.
Needs Improvement
by Pegasus2204 on 2019/07/30 09:31
I love puzzle games, and this has great puzzle challenges. It’s fun in that it has different types of virus elimination to work through. The world levels and versus games are fun, but the timed challenges have been nearly impossible for me (among the world levels, I’m almost to 200, so it’s not for lack of understanding). At first I thought the game was kind of slow but learned the unique challenges and kept wanting to try the next one! Two main turn-offs that are disappointing me, almost to not wanting to play anymore: -The app keeps having “loading error” issues and when that happens during a game, it deducts a life. That’s a big impact considering it take 30 minutes for each life to regenerate and maxes at 5 total. My app is up-to-date and I have 55GB available on my phone. -There isn’t much earned growth opportunity. Items to use during the game cost diamonds, and you can only buy those. Also, the doctor can’t be leveled up without diamonds. I completely understand paying to advance quicker, but it’s lame that you can’t earn it over time and effort. **Update** -I finished level 200 and there are no more worlds yet, so I have nowhere to go. -I’ve been attempting versus games and it’s so unbalanced that I win once for every 5-6 games that I get slammed... but I also haven’t spent any money on diamonds opposed to those who have. At this point I’m pretty much over this game.
Constant Glitches/Connection Issues
by Hendbdjdjjswbns on 2019/07/28 20:45
I absolutely love this game. I am on Level 180 now. But I SWEAR, if I get one more spinning pill/buffering thing while I’m in the middle of a level imma lose it. I know 100% that it’s not my internet because literally everything else is working. My girlfriend has the same issue with this game on her phone, too, so we know it’s a game issue. Idk why they even do an update thing pretty much every night for like 2 hours if they aren’t fixing anything.. Plus, I cannot count the number of times we’ve been playing and the pill just glitches and goes to the other side. Idk how to explain it great but like you’ll be putting a blue/yellow pill under a blue pill.. You put the blue half right under the blue virus and the yellow to the side, but then it’ll glitch and the yellow will end up under the blue virus and mess up everything.. Veryyy frustrating

Vs mode is lame
by Playz214 on 2019/08/17 02:42
Vs mode is stupid- don’t think im playing against real people and adding 5 rows of virues with half the bar already dropped is unwinable. Single mode 3 starred first 2 worlds but game wants u to use items which cost diamonds which I rarely get so essentially wants U to pay money to keep progressing. Too bad as I live dr MARIO but the devs didn’t do the franchise justice

Great Game

Fix this

Buggy
by alyberninger on 2019/08/16 11:32
It could be really fun and when it works it is fun.

This Game Is So Amazing!
Why does it take so long to load
by Zztlh020379zz!! on 2019/08/15 08:47
I love this game but the loading time is ridiculous it takes 5 minutes just for it to get past the loading screen. Please fix this.
Very buggy
by Nickname Will el bueno on 2019/08/15 02:33
I enjoy playing this game but it becomes very frustrating when it keeps having communication errors. This causes the game to instantly stop and mark the player as a lost round. Very annoying. Hopefully the developers that are making money from the game can spend some of their resources to fix this bug ASAP!!
I love it!
by Twin City 3 on 2019/08/15 02:27
No good reasons at all! It’s great
Great game
by Fefeface on 2019/08/15 02:21
I love the game but there are some bugs that need to be worked out.

Would be fun if it wasn’t so glitchy
by kfam08 on 2019/08/14 03:33
If this game would run properly, it’s amazing. It’s full of screen jumping, levels that don’t end despite being cleared, Dr’s and assistants that do not use their power ups, and other myriad of game ruining problems. I’m stuck going up and down the same 200pts in VS mode because of these terrible, fun killing problems. It seems every time there is a “fix” new issues crop up more prevalent and horrifying for the gamer than before. If you love to be a loser, this game is totally for you 👌🏼

by PIGGIE OM NOMNOM on 2019/08/14 02:14

Bugs
by katwp on 2019/08/14 00:00
This game is fun but still so many bugs!

A communications error has occurred, try again later should be the new name of this game. Huge corporation like Nintendo should be able to put out better games than this

It’s fun!
Needs a lot of work
