Cute cat game.
by KBNManx on 2019/04/04 02:46
It has nice art and is enjoyable, but after a while you’ll start to need coins in order to get a bigger space for more cats, and can’t go further to get coins because you want more cats. So to get A COIN just ONE you have to watch 25 ads. 25 for a single coin. Battles can feel a bit wonky sometimes with the cats bumping into each other not being able to move or attack. Not mention when it’s your cats turn they can be stopped if the enemy hits you first. Edit: I have come to believe that the developer no longer plans to work on this app. If so, these issues persist. Too bad.
Hard to fight

The cats on the back keep pushing the ones in the front and they get hit ( ones on front ). You need to fix this it really annoying Edit: did you abandon this game?? Come on, please fix the whole fighting system it’s just ughhhh! Please fix it I beg of you, it’s really a cute game but it’s hard to win. What I think you can do is just make the cats be able to walk though each other and have them just be able to walk past each other...

The whole point of this game is fighting... every single attack misses the opponent kitties or the attacks are negated/don’t even happen because of the opponent cats “cancelling” your attacks. On top of that, all of a sudden the game froze and wouldn’t let me do anything mid-fight. The cats just kept getting closer but no one was attacking after I clicked attack... Seems like this game wasn’t tested at all. These are major problems you’re having. Fix them.
Cats keep MISSING.

All the cats do is MISS. I would love this game if every single move wouldn't miss the enemy, it's SO annoying.

I just finished the game and figured now’s a good time to give it a thorough review. For a relatively short, adorable phone game, Wholesome Cats is pretty entertaining. It’s nice to see a game like this try to have an actual story, even if it’s a little simple, it does give the player enough drive to want to explore this little world of half moon island. The artwork and sound design is adorable, complemented well by the fresh background music. Each cat has a unique and precious design, from breeds you know like Persian and Scottish Fold, to fantasy ones like Fire and Ghost Cats. there will defs be at least one you’ll love! Dialogue is very cute too, with little events where your cats can interact with you too! However there are quite a few hang ups that prevent this game from being better. The fighting system is a bit atrocious. Essentially your cat will try to walk to the cat it wants to attack and vice verse. However there’s collision physics to this. Cats will constantly get stuck behind each other when trying to attack. This rarely works in your favor. Sometimes your cats projectiles just wont connect with the enemy. I don’t mean missing them, I mean the projectile just chooses not to go in the direction you told it to go. It’s a battle system that one can adapt to over time, but one that is not practical or efficient in any way. It is also fairly bugged. There were many instances where Cats in my party took two turns, taking away one from another cat. A few times the game would straight up freeze when starting a random encounter, or in the middle of battle forcing a reset. Or the game would think another cat was attacking when they weren’t and wouldn’t let me take my turn, soft locking the game and forcing a reset. The ACT system is both this game’s Blessing and Curse. Some fights are difficult and if you don’t have the right cat with the right act command in your party you are in for a very bad time, and inversely it can make some bosses an absolute joke. Spoiler alert, the final boss can be defeated with one Act command (one that’s fairly common among Cats in the mid-game) making it all pretty anticlimactic. Also if you use an act command to skip a tough fight, and don’t have one to skip the next, you will be stuck grinding for silver fish until your cats are strong enough or hope you’re lucky enough to get the cat you need from the gatcha box with the act you need assuming you have any gold coins. in addition a lot of act commands are very situational. Aside from the ones that make you disappear, fly, or heal you, they have no utility outside of the story battles. Due to this Act commands heavily imbalances the game. A large part of the challenge comes from the game’s artificial length and difficulty. Regardless of how many stars your cats are, you WILL need to grind for silver fish at some point to level them up, running back and forth doing battles for as long as it takes to progress. I wouldn’t recommend spending money in the cash shop. Playing your cards right can earn you many cats you can sell for gold to try and roll for a better cat. Also the free way to earn gold, requires you Watch TWENTY FIVE VIDEOS FOR ONE COIN. PER DAY. And if you don’t do it that day it rolls over to the next day and ruins your chance of getting another coin that day. I’ve NEVER played a phone game that had that sort of restriction, even the most ad-clogged games aren’t that stingy with with their video-for-money currency. Not to mention with how short the game is as a whole, spending money to get the cats you want is just not worth it. There’s no longevity or incentive to keep playing once the main game is complete. Save your money, please. For a game called “Wholesome Cats” it’s certainly a bit cursed in a few places, and prevents me from fully recommending this game to people. Especially not to people who don’t like grinding. I feel with a few tweaks to the battle and act system and a bit of rebalancing, this game could be a lot more playable. Did I enjoy playing Wholesome Cats? Yes absolutely, but I would be remised if I was not honest with the game’s hang ups.

I love this game a lot. It is adorable and fun to play But one thing I would add is that I think it would be more fun if you could dress up the cats you own or play mini games rather then just upgrading your cats and battling.
Super cute!

The visuals are lovely. However, I do agree with other reviewers that the combat needs somewhat of an overhaul. It's so wonky it feels unfair. Also, it'd be great if we could flip the orientation. I usually play with the home button on the right and it feels like I'm holding my phone upside down.
Interesting, but frustrating
by Sunset Awesomness17 on 2018/10/15 05:04
The cats get crowded up and end up making ☚g impossible to fight. And that stupid "flee" button. FIX IT! I always end up accidentally tapping n that during a fight. It should have a "are you sure" thing for that button. Like the style and art but needs improvements.

It's a really fun and cute game but I really hate how the cats get stuck on each other when trying to get to the enemies :/ it really clutters it up and it ends up making me die because my cats get stuck on each other... Maybe fix this and I'll play it again and give it 5 stars....
Tried to play it, but Orientation is incorrect

I normally play games in Landscape with the home button on the right, but when I launch the game it is stuck upside down and refuses to switch. Minor problem, but thought you would want to know. Big fan of your games, though. Thank you!

The Art is Amazing, From The game’s Backgrounds to the Cat Designs. It’s all so Adorable. Personally It hasn't been a problem for me to collect Coins when it’s quite easy to get Fish when exploring area to area which allows me to buy a coin every thousand coins, I managed to open 24 slots During the Battles it does get a few problems like the cat not being able to reach n Loses it’s turn, Another Thing is that Acts are Quite Clear? Anywayssss To sum up my Review, I love the game , yes it can use some changes and fixes just like Every other new game but the game overall is still playable And Fun To me.
super cute!

I like this game so far, the art is cute and the music is lovely! I do have a few suggestions though (and if these were already implemented never mind lol): maybe make some way to access old stories and in the deck section have some way to scroll left and right between cats instead of having to exit out of the page each time. I also agree with other reviews that the battle mechanics are wonky.
Not very good...
by Oakpear on 2018/10/08 23:29
Why do some of the attacks like not do anything if the cats aren’t close enough to the target and what even are the acts for? Do coins really have to be so hard to get? And why is it so hard right of the get-go give us a chance to improve! But 3 stars cuz it’s cute.
Nice Visuals, Bad Combat
by Bloobloop on 2018/10/08 00:41
The skills for each character isn’t really explained, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t? If you try to attack, there’s a chance the opponent cat will strike first, voiding your attack? It’s a shame the combat system is so poorly set up and explained, especially since this game, visually, is wonderful. I uninstalled after 10 minutes when the fighting just became awful and frustrating. Not to mention, you can earn ONE coin (the premium currency) after watching TWENTY-FIVE ads, which is excessive in my opinion.

I love this game a lot. It is adorable and fun to play But one thing I would add is that I think it would be more fun if you could dress up the cats you own or play mini games rather then just upgrading your cats and battling.
Super cute!

Cute game, needs improvement

The visuals are lovely. However, I do agree with other reviewers that the combat needs somewhat of an overhaul. It's so wonky it feels unfair. Also, it'd be great if we could flip the orientation. I usually play with the home button on the right and it feels like I'm holding my phone upside down.
Interesting, but frustrating

The cats get crowded up and end up making ☚g impossible to fight. And that stupid "flee" button. FIX IT! I always end up accidentally tapping n that during a fight. It should have a "are you sure" thing for that button. Like the style and art but needs improvements.
Fun but.....

It's a really fun and cute game but I really hate how the cats get stuck on each other when trying to get to the enemies :/ it really clutters it up and it ends up making me die because my cats get stuck on each other... Maybe fix this and I'll play it again and give it 5 stars....
Tried to play it, but Orientation is incorrect
by Becky.aem on 2018/10/10 18:11
I normally play games in Landscape with the home button on the right, but when I launch the game it is stuck upside down and refuses to switch.

Wholesome Game

Easy to pick up & understand the mechanics of the game, cute cats, option to name your kitties, interesting lore. Very adorable and nicely done. My heart feels overtaken by the wholesome :3c

Cute cat game.

Too bad.
Hard to fight
by ⭐️nyancookies⭐️ on 2019/01/26 08:14
The cats on the back keep pushing the ones in the front and they get hit ( ones on front ). You need to fix this it really annoying Edit: did you abandon this game?? Come on, please fix the whole fighting system it’s just ughhhh! Please fix it I beg of you, it’s really a cute game but it’s hard to win. What I think you can do is just make the cats be able to walk though each other and have them just be able to walk past each other...
super cute!

Cute, but needs improvement
