Great App

Awesome app. It met and exceeded my expectations
Awesome!
by trich19 on 2019/12/09 20:33
I love being able to test my chargers and see how much power my device is pulling in. The developer responded very quickly to me as well
Waste of money
by m rfocnrjri on 2019/12/08 02:09
Tried the compare wizard on an iPad Gen 7 using iPad charger base vs iPhone charger base. Battery was at 60% when I tried the test, which was in line with suggested testing zone. After an hour it still could produce a result. I gave up. Lame app. Don’t waste your time and money.
Very useful!
by Mike (cfi) on 2019/11/17 05:23
Easy to use and provides a lot of useful information. I used it to test some new Lightning charging cables and found they were not as fast as claimed.
Ok
by Stephen Mccloud on 2019/11/08 06:06
Considering Apple does not allow access to the charging data in IOS this is the best a developer can do at this time.
Great app but old interface was better
by tzm on 2019/10/14 03:28
Have been using for a year or so. App works great and does what it says. However the interface has changed so much with different icons and compressed its very hard to click on the right button. For example, now the test results only show you the results vs in the past you could see the info that went along with it all in one line. It’s a mess. Please consider bringing back the old interface.
Doesn’t work properly on iPhone 11 Pro
by kleekleeklee on 2019/10/13 17:45
I’m getting nonsense charger test results even when following directions carefully on my brand new iPhone 11 Pro. My wireless charger definitely isn’t outputting 68.53 watts.
The best

Charging test results in total nonsense.
by hcvjyfhjgdcgfhkhdaj on 2019/08/21 23:56
I tried it on the same charger 3 times in a row, was told vastly different currents each time. The results are clearly wrong/meaningless. Guaging the current pulled from different adapters was the one job I got it for, and it can't even handle it. I ended up just using my multimeter with needles attached. Also the user interface is a total train wreck.
Absolutely Amazing App
by Ramos2905 on 2019/08/06 12:59
I like having a multimeter for my iPhone! Powerful stuff.
Prefer previous layouts
by Jack Rodgers, Jr. on 2019/07/25 15:11
Great app and use it for testing and reports. BUT ... the new layouts are terrible. I could see everything on one layout but now I have to pick an icon to view the data in a font that is 10 times too big. Bring back the more functional layout...
Too bad this can’t run completely in the background
by quikyone6 on 2019/07/02 17:55
I wish this could run in the background while you were still using the phone instead of having to leave the app open. It would be nice to be able to surf the Internet, text when needed, and check email etc. etc. Now anytime I get a phone call it resets the test. Kind of defeats the purpose...
Great Solution, Missing Some Features
by ѕтeғαɴ on 2019/06/27 03:33
I’ve been using Amperes for nearly 2 years and can confidently say it’s the best solution for testing & comparing chargers I’ve come across! My only “complaint“ is there’s currently no option to save charger/wire names and therefore have to be re-entered on subsequent tests after quitting the app. It’s not the end of the world but certainly makes testing the same equipment more cumbersome.
Love the New Updated Platform!
by RNBreeze on 2019/05/31 09:51
Thank you for finally adding some new feature and options. Don’t get me wrong it was completely fine the way it was originally because it’s the only app of its kind that’s actually accurate when it comes right down to it. So basically so guess what I’m trying saying is that every other app that mimic, resembles, or claims it does what you do is 100% straight lying. Anyways main reason I was inspire to write a review period was just to simply give credit where credit is due, and say “THANK YOU” you took your original Perfectly good, accurate app that worked exactly as advertised and instead of just leaving it like 99% of every other app company would you added features and gave back to the the customers and that kinda dedication and progression is really unparalleled and rarely seen today. And you didn’t charge more or make any big deal about it on top of that!:) It’s really impressive to say the least. JUST ALL CLASS! Thanks again you guys!
Exactly what it says
by Smiley'sMom on 2019/04/27 14:51
I am very pleased with this app. I purchased it to test my Ventev 3 port wall charger. I suspected that it was not functioning at full capacity. Happily, I was wrong! One of the ports is very fast. Amperes tested all 3 of the ports. If I can figure out how to upload a screenshot of my results I will... I tested this on my IPad, which was at about 55 % charged. Here are Amperes’s results: **Port #1 is physically labeled on the charger “2.4A”. (named by me on the test as “Ventev 1” - for reference, if I successfully upload a photo). It took 122 seconds to charge 1% of the battery. 2602 mA. 13.01 Watt. **Port #2 is physically labeled on the charger “3A”. (named by me on the test as “Ventev 2”). It took 550 seconds to charge 1% of the battery. 577 mA. 2.88 Watt. **Port #3 also physically labeled on the charger “3A”. (named by me on the test as “Ventev 3”). It took 508 seconds to charge 1% of the battery. 625 mA. 3.12 Watt. There are some really negative reviews about this App, and I was nervous about trying it out. But the developer repeatedly responded with solid information, so I decided to take a chance. I am really glad that I did. I travel for pleasure only, and my 3 port charger is really nice in a hotel, to charge multiple units from the same outlet. I am glad to know it is working properly. ( I think I can only upload a photo on Amazon reviews- not here).
Nice metrics

Metrics are useful. User interface could use a revamp
Like the app

A lot of functionality! And it works!
Don’t waste your money
by cliff344 on 2019/04/22 18:18
Tested against ruideng usb tester. App says charging rate of 7.5 watts, while actually drawing 12watts. This app doesn’t take into account battery conditions and other factors. Very generic. There’s nothing out there that will give you precise charging information other than a real USB in-line tester.
It has potential!
by ★.MΞŦΛŁ|JΘKΞR.★™ on 2019/04/18 23:27
The only app that I could find that works.
attention please 😔
by koomy77 on 2019/04/08 19:56
The error in the alarm is to lower the charging ratio you specify
Great app
by Charlie Howard on 2019/03/06 07:41
This app let me find the best (and worst) wireless chargers, and showed the levels at which the phone charges the fastest (below 70%) and the slowest (mid to high 90s).
Excellent for measuring charger capability. DETAILED REVIEW.
by the_kevlar_kid on 2019/02/12 11:05
• BACKGROUND & A NEED FOR THIS APP: Following the release of the iPhone 8,8+, and X came the ability to "fast charge" your iPhone. Apple provided this feature only when utilizing an Apple original USC-C to Lightening cable, powered by a USB-C Power Delivery (PD) rated charging port capable of supplying 18w of power through the USB-C interface. • Despite Apple's 'requirments', dozens of manufacturers on Amazon claimed their USB-C-to-Lightning cables were "fast charge certified." This allowed the possibility of saving an easy $20 by forgoing the Apple cable for an aftermarket alternative. ❗️ Enter the Amperes app. ❗️ ➡️ This app was able to successfully determine that Apple's claims were indeed true; that only the Apple original USC-C cables would provide the claimed "fast charge" capability. Since that time, I have continued using this app to measure a large variety of charging blocks (or hubs or whatever...USB to AC units). • I have found it pretty interesting seeing how different brands of cables interact with iOS, how different qualities of USB converters deliver power, and even more so, how effectively the new "smart" Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 USB-A chargers work (the orange USB ports). 🤔 These are all details and topics I have never thought a second about, but after using this app, I have gained a lot of insight on the importance of quality charging equipment. Thank you Amperes developers for helping me gain this rather useless knowledge. 👍 Definitely recommend this app to test the condition of your cables and chargers. The newest version of the app has made phenomenal improvement to the usability and understandably of the information provided. Good job guys! I made sure to donate and "buy you guys a beer" lol Sidenote: The Qualcomm QC 3.0 claimed to communicate with your device to offer the maximum (or "ideal") amount of power to charge your device in the fastest possible fashion while still maintaining battery/device health. (versus potentially pushing to much power and damaging a device, or alternatively, pushing too little power resulting in poor charging performance) • I have determined that QC3.0 did not do anything different than a standard 12W-2.4A iPad charging base. Seems to be marketing hype. My rant is complete!
Great App
by Lik7ilo3aneh on 2019/02/07 16:23
This application let me test 3 chargers and see the significance of the charging difference between the 3 I am impressed!!!!
The Best battery charging info app
by rxxdoc on 2019/01/31 00:03
At least this is the best battery charging info app that I have found. The programmer of this application constantly updates his product, and each version is greatly improved over the last version. If you wish to see what combination of charge and lightning connector works best, I believe this app is the one you are looking for. It was worth the $2.00 I spent quite a while ago, and the app is much improved.
Erratic results
by jonetkins on 2018/11/22 07:48
Seems promising, but right now the results are too erratic to be useful. I had my iPhone XR connected to a 39W USB-C charger via a USB-C-to-Lightning cable, and the nonstop test cycled constantly back and forth between two completely different, but repeating, readings - 2648/13.25W and 1765/8.82W. I then tried it in my car on my 2.1A 5V adapter, and it cycled between 2648/13.25W and around 1324/6.25W. It seems that perhaps something needs tweaking for an XR running IOS 12.1.
Nice
by Jcole76239 on 2018/10/23 22:58
Worth the upgrade. Keep it up
Useful, but lacking
by Bfegan on 2018/10/17 15:50
I bought this because I thought the tests would show the charging wattage just like the free version of Ampere does. However it only shows the result in mA. Which is disappointing because I'm using it to evaluate two wireless chargers that were sold based one their wattage output.. I don't know why the free version would have that and not the paid. Additionally, the "export results" button doesn't work at all on my iPhone XS.
Great App!!
by gtspeer on 2018/10/15 23:13
Thank You Andrew, this app is perfect for my needs. I have the new iPhone Xs Max with fast charge capability. I purchased several adapters, (usb-c & usb-a) & wireless in both formats. I’m testing various cables by different manufacturers. With your app I am able to test all combinations so I can use the accessories with the best results! Also the ability to label the tests helps me keep my results organized! Great app! Keep up the good work!
Very gratifying app
by brianimate on 2018/10/14 07:53
It’s very interesting to see the different rates at which the phone charges under different conditions. I love that I can name and describe each test for my records.
A piece of garbage!!!
by evilcartman-the -original on 2018/10/13 02:53
The app just sits there in a loop just testing and testing and testing it takes forever and then doesn't do anything. There's no progress indicator and no way of knowing how long it's going to take or if anything is actually happening at all which it turns out nothing is. A worthless garbage app that's not worth the bits of storage that it takes up. This app is literally does nothing but show you an animated battery.
Test Time
by 001010001010101 on 2018/10/09 17:24
More of a question than a review...how long do the tests usually last? Mine seeming never end until I have to move photons to use it and the test days it’s been disrupted.
Amps????
by Audiophillak on 2018/09/24 23:54
It’s called amperes, I expected to be able to see the actual amps that were coming into the iPhone. I could measure the time it takes to charge to a certain percent myself. Please add an incoming amperage readout. And voltage please! I will move it up to five stars otherwise you can get this same stuff for free.

Handy app for the guided

It really helps me to get out of many problems! None of services provides me with the information as much as it does. Thanks to that app, I can measure the battery life duration and see whether it goes wrong and needs to get changed (a widespread IPhone problem).
Great app!
by ksEnyA2303 on 2018/09/01 18:37
I’ve been looking for this kind of app for a long time but this one is the best. I need to watch a lot of my charging devices, so this is really helpful app. And it’s easy to use
Stupid app
by Binarychick on 2018/08/08 17:06
This app just times how long it takes to charge one percent. It does not show real information about input current.
App doesn’t reflect true charging
by Steinawitz on 2018/07/26 22:35
I’ve played with this app for a week now on different chargers. On wireless I’ve repositioned the phone in relation to the pad and have monitored the application. The app just doesn’t work. Readings will sometimes fluctuate greatly even when the phone is stationary and hasn’t been moved. I cannot recommend. Save your money.
Works as advertised
by i'mfrustrated on 2018/07/10 10:55
On the test page there should be a statement that charging is a slowwwww process and and that it could take as much as 15 minutes to get a result
Use your watch to time how long it takes to increase charge by 1% and you have all the app does
by AS16567 on 2018/06/06 15:19
Complete waste of $$ this app does absolutely NOTHING but time how long it takes your battery to increase 1% and creates a subjective rating with no detail. You can download much better apps like coconut battery for free!
Great Tool!
by rrflanders on 2018/06/03 14:45
What an outstanding app. I have multiple cables and charging devices and this let me determine which configurations were best and just as importantly, which were worst at charging my iPad Pro. Since I travel a lot I was pleasantly surprised to determine a thin cable charged just as quickly as a thick, bulky cable. On the other hand, I was disappointed to find out my Qualcomm 3.0 Quick Charger didn’t charge as fast as my NewerTech NuPower 60W adapter (fortunately the NuPower has 2 outputs so I can charge both my MacBook and iPad at the same time)
Inaccurate
by bendhoward on 2018/06/01 09:05
Told me my phone was charging at 2.5A when it was connected to a 500mA supply.
All good but
by Dclay18 on 2018/05/18 16:40
It would be nice to be able to take a picture of the cable and save it in the test info so it would be easier to remember what cable is best

I give up
by JJDNYC on 2018/02/03 00:49
I have tried multiple apps which promise to measure charge rates. But none can it seems isn’t he iOS11 world. This am simply guesstimates rate by timing a 2% charge... Not the developer’s fault, but I am done wasting money chasing a unicorn. Thanks Apple! I guess they don’t want people knowing how crummy a charger they ship with the iPad pro’s...
Doesn't work for fast charging
by JEmlay on 2018/01/26 04:37
I got this to see how much faster fast charging really is. Doesn't work: iPhone charger - 814 iPad charger - 1629 Every single fast charger I tried - 1222 Yes, I'm using the Apple cable and yes, I'm getting a double chime when plugging them in. In fact one of my fast chargers is bogus and I only get one chime when plugging it in. Turns out it's only 3A. That one gets a score of 1222 as well. Even my wall socket USB ports get an exact score of 1222. The official Apple 67W adapter got a score of 977. Good to know the 1A iPhone charger and the fast charging 67W adapter are basically the same. Oh and, all these numbers came from my iPhone X being in the 50% range. This app is garbage! Response to developer: According to an actual watt meter your numbers are still garbage. Review stays at 1 star. "I would love to get more accurate results myself, BUT its not available via the iOS at this moment. Apple locked access to this data since iOS 10." Thanks for admitting the app gives less than accurate results. A competitor app? Ha! Whatever gets you to sleep at night bud. I'm just calling out the fact this app is not accurate at all as you even stated yourself. Also there is a more accurate way as I clearly stated earlier with an actual watt meter. Of which I used to bust the reliability of this app. Keep it up man, I can go on forever. And to add to all this, I got some bogus 8000+ reading on my USB wall outlet last night which maxes out at 2.4A. Perfect timing as I was showing a buddy of mine how this app doesn't work.
Great app BUT!!
by Facilio on 2017/12/29 23:00
Great app honestly, but the test configuration is bad, i mean i cant edit what i wrote after the test is done and what does the score mean exactly, because when you export, the score shows in the mA category, so lets say score turns out 1650, means its 1650 mA ? I really like this app hope they fix this issue and make the interface a bit better UPDATE* Developer fixed a bunch of issues and gave us a chance to edit the results
Great support from developer
by Eagleglen on 2017/12/29 15:01
Edit: all issues were addressed. ———— Please add a conformation step before clearing results data. Very easy to accidentally delete all one's measurements otherwise. Also being able to edit the test configuration info after a test is run would be very helpful. Also where test results are displayed (at least on an iPhone X) the fields with the Name and Charge get cut off with no way to later see what was typed originally. Finally, there should be a note to users that the charging rate, or score, varies greatly with how full the battery is. Perhaps recommending all tests be done under 50% would be better than the 90% required now.
Total waste
by Zebrajax on 2017/12/21 00:27
Test turns off if you go to another app Finally watched it do nothing for 10 minutes and gave up, Wanted an app to show charge rate which should be able to do in seconds. Don’t waste your dollar. I gave it one star because there was nothing lower Jax
Takes forever apparently!
by bobby211221122112 on 2017/11/27 13:36
Followed the instructions and it just would stay on testing. Never gave result. I quit the test after 10 minutes with no results. App developer told me it takes as much as 10 minutes sometimes depending on the speed on my charger ..etc.
Does not show charging rate
by Cocobells09 on 2017/10/29 15:25
Even though it purports to show the charging right it does not. Do not purchase this app is crap
Looking for a true MA meter app
by Sip expert on 2017/10/28 01:23
App knows the size of the battery. Calculates the time it take the phone to charge 1% then it provides the score. Not a true amp meter
Results Are Too Slow
by The Detroit Don on 2017/09/22 07:59
I was looking for a true mA display app to gauge my charging tools. An app that displays the true charging rate in mA, this is not it. The scoring might be ok for some, not for me.
Effective Measuring App
by LexinSmith95 on 2017/08/13 01:01

I wish this could run in the background while you were still using the phone instead of having to leave the app open. It would be nice to be able to surf the Internet, text when needed, and check email etc. etc. Now anytime I get a phone call it resets the test. Kind of defeats the purpose...
Great App!!

Handy app for the guided
by Malincos" on 2018/09/01 20:23
It really helps me to get out of many problems! None of services provides me with the information as much as it does. Thanks to that app, I can measure the battery life duration and see whether it goes wrong and needs to get changed (a widespread IPhone problem).

Good app
by wildbey8 on 2018/09/05 16:10
the app is good cause it allows me to see some info about my battery charge and it's really useful when u wonder why your battery charge is going down so fast. By the way you can test your battery so then you'll get exact results

Very gratifying app

Charging test results in total nonsense.
by hcvjyfhjgdcgfhkhdaj on 2019/08/21 23:56
I tried it on the same charger 3 times in a row, was told vastly different currents each time. The results are clearly wrong/meaningless. Guaging the current pulled from different adapters was the one job I got it for, and it can't even handle it. I ended up just using my multimeter with needles attached. Also the user interface is a total train wreck.

I’ve played with this app for a week now on different chargers. On wireless I’ve repositioned the phone in relation to the pad and have monitored the application. The app just doesn’t work. Readings will sometimes fluctuate greatly even when the phone is stationary and hasn’t been moved. I cannot recommend. Save your money.

Looking for a true MA meter app
by Sip expert on 2017/10/28 01:23

Results Are Too Slow
by The Detroit Don on 2017/09/22 07:59
I was looking for a true mA display app to gauge my charging tools. An app that displays the true charging rate in mA, this is not it. The scoring might be ok for some, not for me.
Effective Measuring App
by LexinSmith95 on 2017/08/13 01:01

App does what its meant to do

This app is useful to anyone who wants to know which chargers to use and which ones to get rid of. The app is easy to use, interface is slick, and it does what its supposed to. I recommend running the test 3 times to come up with the average result.

Great App!!
by gtspeer on 2018/10/15 23:13
Thank You Andrew, this app is perfect for my needs.

Amps????
by Audiophillak on 2018/09/24 23:54
It’s called amperes, I expected to be able to see the actual amps that were coming into the iPhone. I could measure the time it takes to charge to a certain percent myself.

Tested against ruideng usb tester. App says charging rate of 7.5 watts, while actually drawing 12watts. This app doesn’t take into account battery conditions and other factors. Very generic. There’s nothing out there that will give you precise charging information other than a real USB in-line tester.
