They do not warn you, but the app content is 90% percent paid. Don’t waste your time, they are making money on others addiction the same as tobacco companies!

Do not pay for the upgraded membership!!!!
by joshracer2003 on 2019/08/05 00:40
So the app seemed nice and I really want to quit smoking, so I paid for the one month silver membership. Not only did I not get access to the quit coach until days after I was charged, I got no response from the quit coach. It said it was a real person and not a bot that would talk to me, but in reality I paid money for no upgraded content whatsoever. Very very sad and a rip off.
Would recommend in addition to..
by rondakay77 on 2019/08/02 23:09
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who’s thinking about quitting smoking. The modules are well done and so soothing to listen to. It made me want to listen more and more. It teaches you to understand and focus on the mental side of becoming a non-smoker. I smoked for 20+ years until I found this app. For me it took nicotine patches + nicotine gum for 30 days and after that cold turkey, all while using Quit Genius. I’ve been a non-smoker for 10 months and looking forward to celebrating that 1 year. Thank you Quit Genius!
Much improved. (update)
by Avery Lewis on 2019/07/31 18:27
Old review is below, but figured I’d update. I stuck with the app, and although I still find the Premium upsell touchpoints annoying, I’m raising my rating because I haven’t encountered any aggravating bugs in the more recent updates, and more importantly - I’ve found that even sticking with the free tier, the app works. It’s a good way to quit smoking. —— I really wanted to love this app. Even met one of the founders at a YC event. However, the app UX is just terrible. Almost every screen contains a surprise button that will bring up a full screen salepage for the subscription/premium service. Tapping “No, ask me later” in the “Log your cigarettes” section immediately triggers the app rating prompt, every single time. And twice, I’ve gotten into views somehow with no buttons, and no way out except killing the app (this is on an iPhone XS Max). Very disappointing!
Pay to Quit
by AlbusSlith on 2019/07/31 03:09
You can download the app and it’s basically a book , unless you pay 25$+ witch if is the case should have just made the app 25$
Cancelled and was still charged TWICE
by BlueIslandIL on 2019/06/23 18:22
Subscribed on web and when I tried to cancel via the app before my trial was up I found out I have to cancel via email. Ignoring how shady it is to make it more difficult to cancel than to order, I sent the email and eventually got confirmation. Imagine my surprise when I got billed not once but TWICE. Do not get this app, unless you want to quit by way of not having any money to pay for your habit. I’ll say it again. Shady.
So I don’t usually rate things but...
by Muddy Winters on 2019/06/15 01:04
This app actually helped me quit. Not only quit though, but change my mentality to become a non smoker. It was actually easy for me too, I went cold turkey. I’ll give you background, if smoked for ten years, two packs a day for most of it. I was kind of a chain smoker. I kind of got tired of isolating myself to places where I could smoke. It was hard to sit through a movie, go to friends houses, rent a car, go on a plane trip.. cigarettes were ten dollars a pack! Things weren’t looking good. So I started looking for ways to quit: This app uses cognitive behavioral therapy, and is had good experiences with that while in high school, CBT helped me work through my anxiety. So to know you could quit with CBT was worth a try to me. I was scared though, that I would be deathly uncomfortable after I stopped smoking, but I wasn’t: we make our own experiences. I really didn’t think it would be so simple. I didn’t use patches or any nicotine replacement therapy, I thought I’d just give it a go. The first time I tried to just cut down to nothing, but someone told me if I have the self control to do that, then I can simply quit just as easily, if not easier. So that’s what I ultimately did. I used the premium version, but I think one can also use the free version just fine. To the developers of this app and this program, thank you! You might have saved my life, but for certain you’ve improved my life a great deal.
Ok app, but manipulative and spammy
by jenevwicnbf on 2019/05/21 12:31
I paid for this app because I am seriously trying to quit, but found that some features were still locked to compel a review. Not appreciated. You wanted a review, so here you are. Took off another star because they sent unsolicited email offering to pay me for a review. Slimy. Once again, you want my feedback, here you are.

Account Trouble
by Salonbug14 on 2019/05/15 19:35
Hello, I have been loving this app and today is actually my first day of quitting. I have been subscribed and now suddenly it isn’t giving me access to anything. I don’t know why it’s locking me out or how to fix it. Even trying to change the subscription (which I would rather not have to do if I don’t have to) will not help because it won’t actually change until the subscription I have cancels. My account shows I’m subscribed but the app doesn’t think I am for some reason. Please help me!

Not worth the money
by HSHDJDJIDKDJSJDJ on 2019/04/05 22:01
It’s just not worth the money and is long winded, annoying dribble. Set a timer on your iPhone for a cigarette every hour then after a few days every other hour. That seems to be working for me and it doesn’t cost $50 every few months.
Big help

Great app to get started
by Aliner Fan on 2019/03/04 21:18
I am beginning my journey to being a non-smoker...again. I have attempted this goal many times and have always slipped back into the addiction. But this time I am motivated and have hope for life long success. Why this app? Because it is teaching me a new way of thinking. There is no pressure. You take your own time to prepare for your quit day and do it when you feel ready. You get tools to help, advice from those who have been there, and an accountability system for your behavior and thinking related to smoking. I feel confident in my success this time. I am excited to come to the point where cigarettes no longer consume my thoughts and my health!

I have only used this app for a day, but I have been through all the foundation work. It really does give you the science behind your behavior, which is very helpful. I am unsure as to whether the tracking is working accurately, it seems to have more entries than I made.

Really good information and tools to help you get ready to quit and continue to stay a nonsmoker after you’ve quit. Consider monthly payments? I’d rather pay more each month to avoid the commitment and have the year option for savings if I’m so inclined. Great app though! Thanks a lot!
Buyer beware
by nojoschmo on 2019/02/19 22:42
This company is preying on the customer. I saw that I can cancel within 2 weeks and said sure I’ll check it out. My nicotine starved brain overlooked that I will be charged the $47 yearly fee even after unsubscribing within the trail period. I have since quit smoking without it.

Other quit programs didn’t help me much. The defining factor that sets this app apart is the CBT. Even within a few minutes, i realized how psychologically rooted my smoking problem was, and had some important self reflection and some consideration of the bigger picture. Kudos to the creators for making CBT accessible and affordable to those who may shy away from it in a one on one setting with a psych.

So far the app is working. I like the quit coach feature and the Community is super helpful. This is the first time I’ve tried quitting for real after 21 years of heavy smoking and I’m 3 days quit. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the app. I would recommend anyone serious about quitting to try it. It’s a pay app but it’s cheaper than the cigarette in your hand right now.

by orlandoha on 2018/12/16 01:29
I’m so fed up with these Apps that think it’s OK to log into it with your Facebook password like who do these developers think they are these days? Like show some respect and acknowledge people’s privacy, does your app really need to be that heavily intertwined with someone’s Facebook or Gmail, come on give me a break.

Jumped thru the hoops to link to Facebook. When I attempt to sign in all I get is a spinning wheel. I’m a technology person and I’m frustrated with this nonsense. I’d like to quit smoking and am finding this app to be a trigger to smoke!
Expensive
by Rater12345678yeahhh on 2018/11/24 13:15
7 day free trial then auto-billed to your iTunes for $70. If they really wanted to help people quit - all people, not just those who can afford it - the app would be free or the pricing structured differently.
Not Worth The Price
by Rachel Carlin on 2018/11/14 01:54
Tried the free trial of this app and it’s an okay app, but there’s nothing special about it to make it worth paying for. You won’t find anything on here that you can’t find on almost every single other quit smoking app that’s free.

$70.00/year
by marshaljt on 2018/11/01 16:02
What a scam! With a price tag like that it is very clear money is their only concern. It’s an app, I could see the price being up to about 25 bucks, but 70 and you don’t even own the app... What a joke! It is nothing more than all the free apps I’ve seen repackaged into something fancier looking. I doubt there is any method or information in this app that you can’t find on truth.org
Don’t trust the 7 days for free
by Google2231 on 2018/10/16 14:48
I enjoyed this app! Until it wouldn’t let me look at anything until I said okay to a 7 day free trial that I was just going to cancel anyway, but it ended up charging me for a whole year right away! I would love to have my money back in my account and use it on things I could actually use please!
Premium is great!
by mrh7170 on 2018/10/10 05:55
This app definitely works, I finally quit smoking after trying all different types of things like 1,000 times, but what makes it work, at least for me, is paying for the premium so you get access to a quit coach. Having someone to chat at, and be held accountable to, when you’re craving is waaaay better than the exercises, although they are good too. Premium is kind of expensive, like $40 for 3 months, but cheaper than smoking! And your quit coach gives you customized guidance and advice on how to handle your specific situations. It’s really nice to feel like you have someone in your corner in the fight against smoking. If you don’t want to pay the $40 then just try the app. It’s still super good. But, if you can swing it get the premium because it makes it so much easier.
This app has absolutely nothing free
by William555 on 2018/09/28 04:58
All it allows you is to have a 7 day free trial. The description of the app explains that there is a "premium subscription" — well, you can only have a "premium subscription" if at least a tiny bit of the product is free. It's misleading. Also, the price is downright pathetic, honestly. Even if you guys wanted to have a PRICY app, since, as you guys said earlier, you left your day jobs to focus on this project, a ONE-TIME payment of 9,99 would be MORE THAN ENOUGH. Most people would pay for it, and you guys would get a whole lot of money. But, with this ridiculous subscription method, you pay a lot and don't get to own the app. If you stop smoking and then relapse just a bit, you have to pay again. If you want to stay smoke-free after stopping, you have to keep paying. It's shameful. Aren't you guys ashamed of saying that your goal is to HELP people (who, being desperate to stop, pay this absurd amount of cash)? Just go and say: we want to get every penny out of our clients. That would be fair. Geez.

by Chveny on 2018/08/13 03:07
So... this “free app” is nothing but an advertisement for the paid version of the app... plenty of actually free quitting apps. I would’ve loved to have actually gone through this and done the mindfully “finding myself” thing but it’s not worth $60 a year. Plenty of other choices with an actually community of people going through the same thing to give advice and help you on your way.
Not free
by Amythegreat72 on 2018/08/12 23:35
Didn’t get very far at all using this app. It’s free to download and then you almost immediately have pay to use and I’ve seen a lot of really bad quit smoking apps. Not going to pay and then be disappointed.

I was really excited while reading about this app, but their payment plan setup is incredibly overpriced and sneaky...they offer a three day trial, but you’re obviously not going to quit smoking in 3 days, so you pay the 20 dollars, fine. But, whether successful in quitting or not, people will inevitably forget the app ever existed after a month or so, while the contract gives the company permission to continue charging every three months indefinitely. Clearly, these men are intelligent and knowledgeable about how people think, and they used those skills to craft a very efficient means of getting as much money out of people as possible. I believe your response above that you are trying to raise funds for the project, which is admirable, but that doesn’t excuse dishonesty.
Shame on you

This is not to help people is just to have money (shame )
Dump the paywall.
by Pnelson5 on 2018/07/10 23:53
Super useful app but they started forcing users to start a trial to even open the app. Drop the paywall and encourage more community engagement. “Free” users will pay for themselves by helping to build the community up. The data has value. Active users have value. Once you’re big enough sell it to insurance companies for whatever you want.
How much do you pay to smoke
by Marley Hope on 2018/01/28 03:40
I haven’t even tried this thoroughly yet but honestly idc if they charge. Most of us pay hundreds of dollars a month to smoke and that is just the cost of cigarettes. Do you know how much money chemo costs?? I am a Substance Abuse Counselor and I see asking people to invest financially as well as effort makes them more invested. Some treatment is free and it’s not about making money - it’s about how much more motivated we as humans are when we’re paying for something. We use it because we “want our moneys worth” Stop complaining and looking for an excuse to keep smoking. I’ll pay $2 a month all day long - that’s about the cost of my morning smoke sessions!
Finally!!
by Ryanrlcb on 2018/01/30 01:18
I have thoroughly researched CBT and have long known it was a very effective way to achieve my goal. The problem: it is not always easily accessible, affordable or easy to fit into life’s other demands such as work, running errands, etc. The solution has arrived! Here you have a dedicated team that is truly looking out for you and your success. The Steps are easy to follow and understand, the cost is beyond fair and affordable and you also get the added benefit of group support from people going through the exact same thing. It is very common to see the team behind the app responding to messages in the main group with words of encouragement and celebrating your successes with you! More than good enough to use on its own, but also great as a compliment with other methods such as medications (Chantix) and nicotine replacement therapy (gums and patches) as smoking is more than just physical, it is also psychological. In order to truly break free, you have to address the mental aspects behind addiction. Wish there were more stars to give!
BEST approach to quitting
by AmericanGirl1776 on 2018/03/13 18:10
I’ve tried quitting smoking many ways (nicotine patch, gum, ecigs, cold turkey). This is the ONLY method that has stuck. It utilizes CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) to help you analyze and reevaluate your smoking patterns. After completing the FREE first section, I paid for the subscription—Worth eVeRy penny. I love how quick and easy the program is. My favorite element is the Cravings Tool Box (perfect when you think you might slip up). I’ve always craved cigarettes when drinking alcohol, and now I know why—Better understanding the chemical interactions and how they trigger my brain is so helpful! 10/10 would definitely recommend
Mediocre
by Goonyguy on 2018/02/05 21:06
I had such high hopes for this app! Especially since it was Apple recommend. I was neither impressed not disappointed with the free stage, but it was a lot of reading I scrolled through, and was kind of hoping the smoking “diary” would of had more options, and been more through. I quit smoking cold turkey when I became pregnant and thought I’d never smoke again. Obviously not the case, so for me finding out what triggers me to crave the cigarette would be an effective way to fight it. I also have received 50+ emails asking me to sign up for premium in 24 hours. And when I hit unsubscribe, I am taken to the main website, where there is no link I have been able to locate to unsubscribe. Irritating!
Yes, I’ll Pay
by Neceyluv on 2018/02/13 03:28
I can’t believe people are complaining about paying $3 a month to quit smoking! Is that not worth it? How much is a pack of cigarettes in YOUR town? (In Chicago, they’re over $10!!) I suspect that those who don’t want to pay for the app really don’t want to quit smoking anyway and are using it as an excuse. And that’s fine! There are plenty of “free” quit smoking apps out there. Personally, it looks like a great app. I like the interface, the community, etc., and $3 a month is a small price to pay for the benefits I want to have as a non-smoker. I’m in!

Working
by post,S on 2019/01/09 23:11
So far the app is working.
I love the format! It is a mixture of audio, journaling, quizzes, etc.
by Kyledylan1 on 2017/12/27 05:40
This app is very easy to use. I know that I can go at my own pace and even when I don’t feel like putting in the work to change my thought pattern, I can still time in to listen to a session. Then I might do a very short quiz. Sometimes I look forward to doing the questions that I have to actually think about. It eases me into the work that for some reason o am initially afraid to do. Love, love, love.
Geez.
Very Helpful

I was on my second week of being smoke free when I found this app, but since then I have been checking in everyday and it’s been almost exciting to be able to check off that I didn’t smoke and get a motivational health tip. I’ve also really liked being able to rationalize the cravings because of the cognitive behavioral therapy tips the app offers. So far, I’ve really enjoyed this app and have found it helpful.
Quit!
by Parlflicka on 2017/10/04 12:31
This app is amazing. I really went into it with a “ughh I have to listen to people before I move on? This is going to help me?? Whatever.” And I left, having graduated the app, with so much inner strength and confidence to do this. Today I’ve been smoke-free for 35 days. This app is s game-changer and I absolutely loved it. I learned SO much and it really does make you feel like smoking this whole time was just so dumb. Now please make an app where us non-smokers can go for support! 😉
So far, so good....
by CJ Apex on 2019/02/27 21:14
I have only used this app for a day, but I have been through all the foundation work. It really does give you the science behind your behavior, which is very helpful. I am unsure as to whether the tracking is working accurately, it seems to have more entries than I made.
It really works!
by Patchoulidrop on 2018/01/27 19:06
I quit using quit Genius. After I tried the free portion I new that It was worth it to pay for the full version—and it was quite reasonable, really. I used another app, but I was confident knowing that QG was backed up by science and supported by doctors and psychologists. I’ve been quit for over a month now and I have no desire for a cig. I’m telling everyone I know about it.
Interface is confusing
by jaelb on 2018/02/15 15:58
If the smoke diary is so important why is it so hard to find? When entering cigs smoked, is the scrolling number gauge supposed to be the first, second, third etc cig smoked or am I to choose the number of cigarettes smoked in one situation? I would think the diary might give me a clue to this but where the hell can i view the diary? Why can’t I start over? Am I supposed to do all the cards in one day or am I supposed to do them one each day?
Not right!!
by Kmae1256 on 2018/01/29 14:35
It’s not right to make someone pay to get help, if you're going to make a free app to help people quit, MAKE IT FREE. A lot of people don’t get the help they need to quit because they can’t afford it among their bills and everything else that has to be paid for, you could at least make help an available resource. I think it’s ridiculous to have to pay for something like this. Get ads like every other app out there. I’m stuck around smokers all the time I have no job cigarettes are given to me, I don’t have the money to pay for this glorified power point.
Crispy Duolingo design and insane success rate
by RandomnicknamedD504 on 2018/01/27 22:19
I started using this product with my 4 roomies a few weeks ago. We’ve all been around a pack a day smokers for 3-5 years now and have all struggled with quitting. We made a resolution as house mates to cut it out collectively this year as our New Years resolution. We’ve all been using the app with great success!
Triggers and meditations are really helpful
by I like games . com on 2019/02/21 20:13
Really good information and tools to help you get ready to quit and continue to stay a nonsmoker after you’ve quit. Consider monthly payments? I’d rather pay more each month to avoid the commitment and have the year option for savings if I’m so inclined. Great app though! Thanks a lot!
Made all the difference.
by Steve Dobkins on 2018/02/12 00:23
I’ve smoked for 44 years, and I’m now on my 8th day of not smoking. Previously I’ve tried quitting, but without any preparation. Going through the Quit Genius program made me aware of the reasons I have had problems before. As for the cost of the in-app purchase, savings from not smoking paid that in 3 days.
This app literally changed my life.
by Schukey on 2018/03/13 07:16
I’ve tried the gum, the patches, e cigs, cold turkey, and everything else there is. Longest I ever made it nicotine free was maybe 3 months. I stumbled upon Quit Genius, and now I’m going strong on month 6 without even a drag. Didn’t think an iPhone app could possibly do it, but this has been a gamechanger. Thank you.
They steal your money !!!!
by Alm1977 on 2018/05/01 12:27
Don’t download this people will steal your money their 3 day trial period is not a trial period they just bill without your consent 3 months and then when you try to fight it they send you to Apple which automatically tells you they can’t issue a refund and because you don’t time or at least that was my case you cease in your attempt. The chat support is the worst they answer in 2 hours so is better to have a friend - Don’t download you have been warned !
Great app, but...
by Agaiabaijana on 2018/02/11 04:15
I really loved this app when I first got it. It’s so different than any other smoking cessation app I’ve used, and the different steps make it feel sorta like a game. The only incredibly annoying and frustrating thing is that for some reason, when I updated the app, all of my previously logged entries were gone. I put a lot of effort into responding to the little questions on each step and I’m really not trying to do all of that again. The new update itself is really great and improved on literally everything that was a little off in the version before it. I’d give it 5 stars if the inconvenience of losing all my data wasn’t so huge.

This app is the smartest way to try quitting I have seen so far. It makes you reflect on why you smoke. There is no pressure, just common sense. After trying unsuccessfully to quit smoking for over 10 years, I feel this app may actually help me.
Just started using it...
by Branmufn on 2019/02/28 02:47
But it seems like it has some nice features. I’m not sure that I like the overall layout/design, but in my explorations I appreciate what it has to offer. What I like the most is the craving toolbox. It’s just enough.
So far, so good!

Great app - created by Physicians
by Dave Rogenmoser on 2018/01/27 17:50
This app is very easy to use and well designed. The fact that is was created by actual doctors puts it head and shoulders over the other gimmicky apps that claim to help you quit smoking.
Deceptive pricing
by Jim L. @ Vandy on 2018/01/06 10:26
Stage one barely scratches the surface of quitting (you don’t even get to set a quit date yet). They then offer you two tiers of subscriptions to access all stages, with the silver option being marked as $2 per month. Of course, as soon as you click to pay, you see in tiny text on the Apple Pay screen that it’s really “$6 for 3 months”. I would have gladly paid $6, just don’t try to deceive me.

Realizing how our emotions are so intertwined with starting and continuing to smoke definitely helps when trying to quit a habit which is so ingrained within our daily emotional roller coaster. Probably the best app I’ve ever seen by FAR!!
...?
by Chveny on 2018/08/13 03:07
So... this “free app” is nothing but an advertisement for the paid version of the app... plenty of actually free quitting apps. I would’ve loved to have actually gone through this and done the mindfully “finding myself” thing but it’s not worth $60 a year. Plenty of other choices with an actually community of people going through the same thing to give advice and help you on your way.
So helpful
by Jakeyjake6488 on 2018/02/02 13:13
This app is such a great tool! I love that the developers have based it on CBT theory and I think that is just so helpful. I’ve tried quitting dozens of times and with the help of this app I feel confident that this time is my final time!!
Not free, not designed for 12.9” ipad
by SystemSpm on 2018/01/28 19:57
After getting excited to think I might give this app a try i was super bummed to see it actually isn’t free. Nice little deceptive trick, Doctors. I was even more bummed to see it isn’t even a one-time purchase. Yep, you have to pay every month folks. Hilariously in a developer reply one Dr said they made the app subscription based instead of one-time payment so you can “decide how long you want the app”............................................... I mean, what??? These doctors are looking to hit the lottery with this app, and they’ve built this app around taking your money. Be careful. Also, the app isn’t designed for the 12.9” iPad. There’s black bars and image quality is lacking.
Too new to it but I love the layout!
by SA483 on 2019/02/16 06:59
I have only just started using it and so far the benefits are amazing. I also think it is great that no other nicotine products are pushed on you in the process.
Best app I’ve found, and it’s working

Pointless unless you pay.
by Kris toe fer on 2018/01/28 16:36
It’s tough to quit, it’ll always be the first to admit but you’d think someone out there would think to help people who already have spent way to much on smoking. This is an app with subscription service. Thought it would be “doctors” trying to do good, but instead just another app masquerading as trying to be helpful when it’s actually just another cash grab.
Bait & switch
by appmancer on 2017/11/10 12:55
Looks promising but free version only takes you through most initial preparatory stage and leaves you hanging just as introspective progress starts to build... can't continue journey unless a monthly subscription is paid. Useful only if you are prepared right away to make a financial commitment. Of no use if only the free version is started.
Would recommend!
