I bought this game on my previous phone to get rid of ads now I have down loaded it on my new phone and they want me to pay again to get rid of ads I will delete game sad that you can’t trust iOS games anymore. I did contact the company and they did correct the problem. I just changed phones again and they have put the ads back on the game very disappointed

It can be fun. A lot of the same words. They throw you a few coins here and there. Want you to buy and spend money is their goal. Also my icons get stuck. I can’t open settings, change my name, check tournament results, etc. works for a while then I have to shut my phone off and go back in. Very annoying

Been playing Wordscapes for over a year now and have had trouble with ads before, but now Twitter ad is blocking my game and no matter how many times I tap the X, IT WILL NOT GO AWAY!! Game Locking Up
by Bibaly Bobaly Boo on 2021/03/07 05:01
When I first installed the game it worked great, however as time went on the game continuously crashes and/or locks up. The game itself is great, when you can actually play it. An additional frustration is the ridiculous “make over” ads that pop up. C’mon!

The bonus gifts freeze all the time
by Cindylou48 on 2021/03/07 04:21
I love this game. I really feel like it gives my brain some good exercise. However, even after buying the no ad game almost every time I go to the daily puzzle the bonus gifts freeze and will not let me access them without rebooting my devices. At first, I thought it was my older iPad that was having the issue. However, my iPhone 11 does the same thing. It is very frustrating! Otherwise this would’ve been a five star game.

Layout is a problem
by To the hilt on 2021/03/06 23:13
Love the game, even with the repetition of puzzles. However, the layout/placement of the coin (help) buttons is a real problem. Because of the placement of these buttons on the screen, the player may accidentally activate an aid unintentionally. As for me, I have inadvertently activated these causing me to spend over 6000 coins. I will suspend playing of this game until the developer corrects this issue. It was fun while it lasted, but there are other similar games so I will just find an alternative to waste my time.

by mrdj24 on 2021/03/06 08:05
For the longest time I resisted what I saw as just another word game, even though I loved this concept from playing other mini versions from time to time. However I finally took the plunge. This has become my absolute favorite. It is quite addictive & hard to put down. It is a great brain exercise to keep one’s mind sharp & active. Thank you to all who had a part in the development & design to bring this concept to fruition.

Like app but...
by nick2378 on 2021/03/06 05:52
This is actually a captivating app but I can’t figure out what dictionary it’s using. Many times words accepted in various crossword puzzles aren’t accepted in this app. Strange. Also, using the singular and plural of words in the same puzzle is just a teensy bit lazy. Still, I keep playing.

Wonderful word game for everyone!
by Mcdiaz33 on 2020/12/27 09:49
As we get older, we tend to forget words that are not commonly used in our every day vocabulary. The game starts with many easy words, but please believe me when I tell you that you WILL definitely reach tougher levels. As a teacher, I recommend this game to everyone. Especially to young kids, because this game is clean, meaning no inappropriate words are used or included in your word choices, and this game will also easily help them expand their choice of words and correct spelling knowledge. I also strongly recommend this game for millennials, because of their unique use of word abbreviations and their insistence on misspelling words on purpose when texting. It is important to know, that texting has led to a dramatic DECREASE in our student’s word choices as well as a significant INCREASE in spelling errors among young adults. This is not only noticeable when students turn in their assignments, but also during exams, when they’re asked to write a few paragraphs on a specific subject. For those thinking about earning a Master’s or PhD degree, (depending on your school or state) you may have to take the GRE exam as an entry requirement. If you’re not familiar with the GRE, it’s an exam that requires you to know many complex words, hence this game is an excellent way to start your journey towards a higher degree. It’s never too late or too early to start! ☺️
Tournament issues
by ObieApp on 2020/11/23 00:41
I have played this app for over a year. I tend to play it a great deal. There tends to be a lot of repetition as you head up into the higher levels. There does not seem to be enough acceptance of words that would fit but are not accepted. Every weekend there is a tournament challenge. I have noticed a couple of issues that makes the tournament less fun. Firstly, if you are not on a team or if you play with a friends help , your score zooms up quite high very quickly with little chance of boosting your own score. There is little chance to rise up and improve your score. It doesn’t seem fair to pit teams against a single player. My second big concern is that I have gotten “booted” out of the game as my score rose quite high. I get a black screen and can’t get back into the app. This has happened at least four weekend tournaments in a row. I do pretty well but this very weekend it looks like I won’t be able to continue the tournament. So I am using this time to write this review. I contacted support but I haven’t heard back. Not sure what the cause is of this problem is. It’s an enjoyable games if you like word games.
Flawed but addicting
by Aslo White on 2020/02/21 21:24
I admit that I’ve become obsessed with this game despite its flaws. It’s a great way to spend some mindless time. It would be so much better if it had a better and expanded vocabulary. As it is, it doesn’t accept many perfectly legitimate words. One of them is “aqua,” which is particularly ironic given that one of the levels is called “AQUA.” Other non-starters are ware, garret, and fest, along with many more that I could name. And oh, someone needs to tell the developers that CHILE is a proper noun—the name of a country—but CHILI is not. And that LITE is NOT a word! The developers should consult a Scrabble dictionary — or any dictionary, for that matter. It would make for a MUCH better game if it just used Scrabble-approved words minus two-letter words. At least then there would be some rationale for why words are or are not accepted. The other thing that detracts from the game is the fact that levels start to repeat—the same combinations of letters show up multiple times. But hey, for a game with literally thousands of levels, I guess that’s to be expected. There are also a lot of annoying pop-ups asking you for in-app purchases, although these are not necessary to keep playing. One of them — the “piggy bank” — purports to be a reward but is actually nothing more than another opportunity to buy stuff. Despite all this, it’s a relaxing, not-too-challenging time-waster that can provide a pleasant break if you’re into word games.
Old Version Better/Coin Issue
by Unsafe Means of Transfer on 2020/10/22 06:33
I’ve played this game for a few years now and noticed a disappointing new feature with the coins. In order to use them now you must purchase them. This was not a requirement with the old version and makes me consider deleting the game daily as the use of the coins used to provide you with helpful features like; revealing one letter of your choice for a difficult word, etc. It’s a bit illogical to continue to show us coins that we’ve earned through finding additional letters or for reaching a certain level, yet we have no access to them unless we purchase them??? It feels like a design flaw as you play and really makes me wish I hadn’t updated to this newest version. Other than that I would have given 5 stars but it’s such a nuisance I have to grade much lower despite truly enjoying playing the game. Suggestion: Get rid of the option to pay for coins per player's choice if you decide to keep the paid “earned coins” version of this game as most people are never going to bother purchasing anyway it’s like having a commercial running in the upper right corner of your television screen while you’re watching your favorite TV show. It cheapens the look and feel of the game. It feels like the game creators are begging for money as opposed to a real game which would never have a running advert in the corner. Otherwise the game is perfect.
Can’t Sync Between Devices
by Courtney4367732 on 2020/01/25 14:06
The concept of the game is easy enough... and if you have a decent vocabulary, the game itself is too easy. I’m nearly to level 300 and have barely had to pause to think about it. Definitely not challenging so far. My biggest issue is I can’t sync between my phone and iPad. I contacted customer support and was initially pleased by the quick response. Unfortunately, they keep forwarding my responses to another person, so I’ve spoken to 4 different people even though person 2 explained they’d just do a manual reset or something that never happened. Person 4 goes “Are you trying to sync them to the same FB account?” What??? Why would I be confused about it not going to the correct level if it wasn’t even the same account I was syncing them to?? I finally said never mind because no one from their support team has helped me over the past week and apparently they can’t bother to even read what my complaint was in the first place. Yes, they answer the same day, but every day it’s a new person and you’ll be explaining your problem over and over! And it’s emails! They can’t communicate? So all in all, pretty easy game and decent time killer... just can’t get the game to sync between my phone and iPad. 2 stars because the last two emails I got from them are utterly ridiculous. I paid to remove ads and regret the fact their company got my few dollars.
Beware of missing features!
by Sharibaby714 on 2020/08/07 05:39
The developers of his app give some features (adventure game within the game for example) to some users, but not all. They also give "random mid-week tournaments" to some, not all; however, in my team of fifty players, we found that the same people got the tournament week after week, so it's not incredibly random. If your mates get all the extra tourneys, they get to advance through the game at a much faster rate with 'crowns' that can only be obtained in the tourney play - and THAT'S why it's not fair to others of us. Bottom line, if you don't mind others being given blatant unfair advantages by the game, you'll have fun. And contacting them to ask why results in a 'sorry, not sorry' reply. One star given for my inferior game experience caused entirely by the app developers themselves. Others bestowed with the bonus features will probably rate higher. *My reply to Developer: then your TEST shouldn't allow people to unfairly advance faster in the game. If you win your individual tourney, you are eligible for max 50 crowns/wk. Extra TEST tourney, gives access to 25 extra/wk. UNFAIR GAME ADVANCEMENT!!!! Then take the test crowns away. Test all you want and hallelujah for you, but you should not let people advance in your game and others do not have equal access. I don't expect to get 50 crowns per week unless I EARN them, but I don't expect others to have access to 100 game advancing crowns per month, when I do not!
Very fun, but one thing I want to give advice about...
by Pikachublue21 on 2018/10/02 23:17
So far, this was the best word game I ever played. You can make words to complete puzzles, get coins, or just fiddle around with the letters until you make some words. You can also use the video on the Earn Free Coins section to get 25 coins per vid if u get stuck, but there's one thing I want to advice about.....whatever you do, DO NOT use the surveys to get free coins. When I checked it out I found out that whoever runs this survey thing is really just trying to get a hold of your personal information. Even the 15 question survey is trying to get personal info from people. That's why I did not even complete the 15 question survey and I'm glad I did not summit it. If you want to get free coins, I would recommend you just do the videos for coins and not mess with the offers or the surveys. I don't know what company runs this game but they might have someone like hackers running this survey thing so don't use the survey thing whatever you do or they may get your personal information. Otherwise, this is a really great game.
It’s okay...
by Foggyhat on 2019/01/01 16:06
It is an okay app so far. Starts off WAY to easy, but I guess that’s probably so that anyone can play, even young kids. It has far too many 3 letter words for my liking. It probably gets harder eventually, but till that point, it is a bit boring for me. I have two other qualms. The first is that there are legal words that the game doesn’t accept. If you do come up with a word that was not chosen for the crossword, it counts as a “bonus word” (which adds to your total to be able to later use for hints, which is a good idea). However, there are valid words that the game doesn’t accept. I can’t remember all of them right now, but some are “alee” and “luged”. They accepted “luge” just fine, so I have no idea why the past tense in “luged” would be an issue. The other main issue that annoys me is the frequency of the ads. I’ve played other games that have ads before, and I understand that’s how free games supplement their income in order to give us the content in the game. However, the frequency of the ads is the issue in this game. By far the most frequent ads I’ve ever seen. Sometimes have to deal with an ad every two minutes or less, if I finish the crossword quickly, which is ridiculous. At least you can X out of the ads fairly quickly. Still, having ads that often is annoying.
Fun game
by Passnthru on 2018/10/28 03:26
Great game challenging, fun and addictive. I would give it more stars but feel it’s not evenly played. My wife has been playing for months and her hints are 50 coins, I’ve been playing a couple months and enjoy the game but the hints on mine are 100 coins, the target hints 200 and rocket blast 300 totally bogus pricing. Before you say she’s at higher score(she is) I have a daughter, granddaughter and soninlaw that all signed up after I did and 2 of them at my recommendation and wait for it...... their hints are 50,100,150 coins. I’m not the only one this has happened to in the support section there are other complaints of the same thing. I sent an email to them with questions about this and I will say they answered rather quickly but with a crazy response of “we’re trying different pricing to see which we decide on.” What I got out of the answer was we think we can gouge some folks on the pricing so when they buy coins they get less benefit for the money they pay. I started with 2 stars but as I wrote this I down graded it go 1. Get your act together and I’ll revisit this review!!!!! Have talked to them thru emails 3 different times and each time it’s the same, ”we’re trying different pricing to see where it levels out, hmmm I wonder if they’ll refund the folks that bought hints and removed ads at the higher prices when they level out, hmmm NOT!!!!!
Misleading

So, in this post-fact world the advert says you’ll learn to read faster and improve your vocabulary. I haven’t seen any evidence that spelling words from a collection of letters helps one read faster. Logic tells me it doesn’t. Perhaps they could cite some studies. My bigger issue is that it’ll improve my vocabulary. That’s hogwash. Central to ALL vocabulary instruction, starting in kindergarten, is definitions. This game does nothing to promote improvement in my usage of the words contained in it. Moreover, the game is all about building words from letters THAT YOU ALREADY KNOW. How does recalling words I’ve seen and used many times before, then provide no definition or context in which said word is used, help my vocabulary skills? I’ve waisted too much time playing this thing, hoping that I’d eventually get to the “lexicon” level which would grant me the amazing fluency and word knowledge advertised. But alas, the game doesn’t appear to have that...it’s basically Boggle that can be played at a banana slug pace. This would be a four star review if they’d at least provide definitions (maybe they do with the paid upgrades?) and actually allow me to practice speed reading. Throw in the parts of speech and you’d have five star reviews all day long.
Kill Time, It’s fun minus a few things
by Ms_Marine09 on 2018/08/10 22:52
It’s a great word game to play, between this and Ruzzle (my favorite), I think the game is pretty fun. I enjoy learning new words and expanding my vocabulary so this helps. The game allows you to guess words without a limit or consequence no matter how many incorrect tries. It also has a built in dictionary so you can look up the definitions of any of the words you find. Cons: You don’t rack up many coins, so you have to be good at guessing or pay for more coins. The hints are so expensive for a game that doesn’t allow you to rake up many coins per round. To earn coins you have to play 16 round to get at most 75 coins. Each round you can earn coins by guessing words that aren’t in the puzzle using the letters given. You get one coin per word; ripoff. I guess it’s a money thing. The hints cost 100, 200, and 300 coins so be mindful of how often you ask for hints, unless you don’t mind buying coins. Some words that are real words, aren’t recognized by the system. Some words you’ve probably never heard of, are definitely a part of the game. So with all that being said, I recommend the game, but it could be better.
Elegant and fun but could stand to be more rewarding

Very lovely uncluttered layouts and short puzzle times make this a great app for de-stressing and passing time on short bus rides, standing in line, etc. My kids also love it and will beg to "help" me find words if they catch me playing it. A few critiques: you have to do seemingly endless easy puzzles before getting to any remotely challenging ones; I wish they increased the difficulty sooner, maybe based on your solve time. Also not sure what the "brilliance" is about, and there's nothing to use the coins for either. I finished with over 3700 coins, but when I press "shop" the only option is to buy even MORE coins using real money. It's also kind of annoying that it won't accept certain real words for no apparent reason (e.g. girt, purl, cote, hod, coir, trice, creel, cant... and the list goes on). Yet it DOES use a bunch of slang words like blog, pic, toon, etc. What dictionary are they using?! Overall an excellent app, I'll probably go back and redo the upper levels from time to time (fortunately it unsolves them again after you finish).
Missed Credits on Daily Challenges
by Lauraaapieee on 2019/05/28 12:10
I haven’t seen any other reviews on this so I’m not sure if I’m one of a few that has this problem. I love this game but the problem is with the daily challenges. I’ve played this game for months (possibly a couple years) and always, always do the daily challenges. It’s a ritual I do while eating breakfast. For every so many days you complete, you can get coins and it goes up in increments so that you should (on the months that have 31 days) be able to get the big prize of 500 coins. The problem is there are usually about 2 or 3 days out of the month that it doesn’t give me credit for that therefore insuring I will not get the 500 coins. It always happens!!! It goes to the next screen after I complete the challenge and goes through the sounds and motions but my number/count doesn’t go up one. Super annoying and it’s almost like it does it on purpose so that no one can get the 500 coins so we will be forced to pay for hints since they cost an exorbitant amount to begin with and always run out of money. It’s been bothering me for months so just wanted to complain.
Umm...? Somethings not safe here...
by Maria (please consider) on 2019/11/08 21:49
This game is great!!!! I love it! It would totally be a 10/10 but... Something just is not quite right, if I need coins for a hint... and I don’t have any, I have to pay real money for the coins right? Makes TOTAL sense! But if you decide... “nah I’m not spending my money” the you tap the button to get out of the thingy because you don’t REALLY need coins blah blah blah! Anyway so the a thing pops up every time (just how the game works) and it list three was you can get more coins for FREE!!!!! Well... this is ware the UNSAFE business happens... the 3 ways you can get coins for free that are listed is, 1. Video (totally safe that’s no big deal) 2. Offers (just more videos, or downloading games witch is totally fine) And 3. surveys!!!!! DO NOT TAKE THE SURVEY!!!! It asked me for my age, name, and some other personal info!!! I stoped immediately and made sure it did not go through. Now I’m not saying don’t buy the game!!! It’s a GREAT game!!! The survey is the only bad thing about it. I’m just saying... it might not be bad... but I personally don’t trust that kinda stuff. Anyway this is a amazing game and I can’t stop playing!!! Thank you to anybody that has actually bothered to read this 😂😂😂
Tournaments are a joke
by McHellarose on 2019/10/13 05:23
I love this game and play regularly and I had doubts when I read some reviews that said that the tournaments were mainly done by bots, but now I have clearly seen it first hand and those reviews are right!!! I decided to take about a 15-20 minute break from it to go to the store and relax my eyes. When I went back on to play, 2 people had passed me and one of them suddenly had over 2300 points. In the 15-20 minutes I was away from it, someone who wasn’t even in the top ten of players had passed us all with that many points. Now I play this game a lot and I would like to think I am pretty good, but this is complete crap and takes all of the competitive fun out of the game! I even paid to stop the ads and there is no way I could put up 2000 points in 15 minutes. I will not ever spend another dime on this game and feel this is cheating and just downright cheap to do to people that really want to compete and have fun. Not to mention that when you get to higher levels it becomes repetitive. I have done some of the same puzzles 4 times. Did they run out of words?!? Maybe the bots could come up with some to help the developers out! Complete joke competing in the tournaments... don’t even waste your time!
GREEDY UPDATE
by AmyHasHope on 2020/07/07 04:54
This is my favorite game and I spend hours playing. Via my friends in the tourney I recently learned the newest update TOOK OUT many words, real words, mind you, that had been rightfully added to an expanded dictionary several months ago. The reason: A money grab. Less bonus words equal less coins earned equals more people have to buy coins via the recently brought back “piggy bank”. I have this game on two devices, and I have paid for them both. I have not had to buy hints, as I didn’t need them. Then they introduced the tournaments where I use them frequently. Once I run through the coins I have accumulated, I WILL need to buy hints, thus giving the game some more revenue. That will likely be the case for many, many players! But instead they went for the easy money, and ticked off the most loyal, adoring players in the process. I'm fortunate I was warned NOT to update, but many people I care about had auto updates "on". Wordscapes, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more loyal player than me. But this new update is beyond the pale. It is "shameful", as one reviewer wrote. Kindly put the expanded dictionary back where it belongs, and KEEP the players that have supported you for a very long time, because I don’t know if they’ll stick around without you doing so.
Great
by beautifullittlefool on 2018/05/26 10:02
Many words are overused for example you see words were used in multiple puzzles and far too many words that are good words- words that are not overused, are not included in the puzzles. Beautiful backgrounds and a very relaxing game. Kids should not be worse or cost 100 points but it takes 100 extra words not included the crosswords to come up with that many. To clarify what has to come back with 100 words that are not included in the puzzles just to be able to get want to hint at what hit is only one letter at a word either the entire ward that proportion is way off. Yes the same words are used over and over and over again that will be the reason that I stop playing this game. There are billions of words at the English language to use the same words over and over again completely deplete the purpose of the game. But it is a great relaxing way to enjoy a Phone game at all so I do find it addictive. It only needs slight revision. With the game finally finished is there a grand prize? it’s not clear on that.
The Rampant Cheating in Tournament Needs to End
by ChristianL1979 on 2021/01/14 08:54
Wordscapes is a fun well-designed game aside from one thing. The cheating in tournaments. I don’t care if you have an IQ of 180 the likelihood of finishing each level in 10 seconds flat and having 20x the amount of stars than 2nd place makes you m Not even want to try. There is such an easy solution to this that in over 2 years no one has implemented and it’s frankly embarrassing that for as good as the game is and the clever the design that no one has come up with yet continuing to update it. When a tournament begins in the current form of the game your tourney begins on the level you left off on. The problem with this? Every level is on a website that gives you all the answers. Why don’t you design several thousand “tournament only” levels and never reuse them again. If they cheaters can’t just sit on the answer site mindlessly completing 10 levels in the same time it take people who do it right what is the point. Yes I’m so sure these people aren’t cheating, they play 24/7 for 48 hours and never lose any sharpness whatsover. If you want to hold a fair and funny tournament the cheaters need to be chopped off at the knees and have all their acquisitions taken away. They didn’t earn them.
Love it! Just one little thing
by #PUGSrock on 2020/01/18 00:54
I love Wordscapes it is a great game. I play it for almost a while everyday. I like that there’s wide verities of hints like bees, rockets, normal hints, shuffle, and targets. I have heard some complaints about the ads but I disagree they are not interrupting the game because they only come after a round. I also enjoy getting a prize everyday weather it is a free hint or just coins, it is a great feature. I love that there’s a dictionary space because when I write,I haves wide selection of words to choose from. But there is two little problems. One: when you start the daily puzzle but don’t Finnish it you can’t start the next day. I know that the point of the daily puzzle is to do a new puzzle everyday but maybe you could make a “Resume” button or a “Start a new one” Two: there is a space for ads on the bottom of the word bank, so if my hand slips it brings me right to the App Store. I know that Wordscapes themselves don’t provide the ads but they can at least move the bar. Aside from those problems Wordscapes is a great game, thanks for reading. And a wonderful game!
I’m Giving Up
by GiveTheOldOneBack on 2020/10/07 19:30
I am addicted to word games and have quite a few of them on my phone. I have decided to delete this one, however, because it is so frustrating. Even though I have contacted the developers twice with questions, the answers I got did not resolve the issue nor actually answer my specific question. Also, the few directions that are available are confusing, especially when dealing with tournaments. Some issues: I will input the same word several times during the course of one game and it is not accepted, and then all of a sudden it is. And basic everyday words are not accepted in some games but are in others. They will allow the word “can” but not “canned”, as in canned vegetables. It’s totally frustrating, and I keep shaking my head and wonder why I’m wasting my time. But not any more. On to more satisfying pursuits in the world of words. Add the fact that you have to watch an ad after every game, Wordscapes is not worth my time. A note to users who choose to keep playing this inferior game: after you play a game and the ad pops up, shut the game and then come right back to it and you avoid having to watch the ad, many of which repeat with irritating regularity.
Not Happy
by Shorty and Lilybelle's Mom on 2020/08/26 14:34
There are issues with the game that others have outlined in detail - the basic nature of the vocabulary and the lack of recognition of some pretty standard usage words and the inclusion of non-words, the ridiculous “piggy bank” which stockpiles “coins” you’ve earned through playing but cannot access without paying (outrageous!), etc. But the thing that made me delete the game was the tourney this past weekend. I had forgotten to play until later on Saturday, played for awhile on Sunday then had things to do. When I remembered and checked about an hour after the tourney ended, I was pleased to see my beautiful new crown and that I had finished in second place which is where I’d been pretty much for the time I’d played on Sat and early Sun. Imagine the disappointment on Monday when I went in to play and suddenly my new crown was gone and another player was now listed in 2nd place with 3 or 4 more points than I had. It’s a silly thing perhaps, but it’s a digital game and scores are tabulated by computer so there’s no way a score can change unless it’s deliberately changed and not earned. It was the final straw of frustration before the camel walked away rather than have its back broken.
Fun diversion with flaws
by nlg2642 on 2019/11/07 01:12
I’ve been playing this for some months now and enjoy it when I have a few minutes here and there. I do crosswords as well and it’s fun to look at 6 or 7 letters in any given puzzle and either see immediately the word that uses all of them—or to stare at it blankly wondering how any of those letters combine to make anything. The problem is that any words you make that aren’t in the grid should go into the bonus words. But the dictionary they use for the bonus words is so limited that I have long lists of valid words that are both in the dictionary and in common use that the game rejects. Added to that, they accept very few non-American spellings and non-American English words. I have emailed the developer about my frustration with the game, and they responded but didn’t seem to consider my concerns valid. They also have weekly contests, with point prizes for the top ten scorers. That was fine at first, but the game has so many users now that they should at least double the number of prizes. If the dictionary was improved, I would probably give the game 5 stars, but it’s too frustrating as it is to fully enjoy it.
A good game

Scam so you are sucked into spending $$$
by Vivvie1 on 2019/07/24 03:11
This is potentially a terrific game which sadly hinges on a player spending tons of money. If you are a ‘wordie’ like I am, you are always looking for brain teasers. The game itself is a good brain teaser. HOWEVER, beware!! As you move up levels you will be enticed to spend money in order to move up in the game. I purchased the $2.99 option which removed adds, thinking I would be free to play the game. NOT SO! I am now stuck having to watch adds, or take a survey if I want to move forward in the game and cannot come up with a particular word. For each Ad or survey you watch, you earn 25 points. 100 points are needed for a letter clue. Another peeve, I know more words than the puzzle itself, so rather than give me the word I know, the puzzle either doesn’t know the word, or pushes it off to the side in a category box for ‘additional words’, where it just languishes. There is no extra win associated with knowing more. All-in-all, this is an extremely frustrating game if you don’t want to spend lots of money to purchase playing time. I hope the developers read this and take to heart that they can’t expect people to pay a fee ($2.99) and then continue to squeeze. For sheer frustration, I rate this game with one star.
Challenging and fun!
by Savage_tootsie_roll✌️🤟🏻 on 2018/04/25 00:28
I love playing this game to be able to challenge my brain. I also love how if you put a word on the puzzle, you can click it to see the actual definition of the word. The only thing I don’t like is how getting a hint for just one letter in whole puzzle costs 100 coins. Yes, you can get a bunch of coins, and the hints are pretty easy to pay for, but I don’t like how they are so “overpriced” and the fact that you don’t even get to pick which spot to get a hint on makes it more overpriced. But despite this little issue, (which I would love to see changed in a possible next update,) this game is super fun and is just the right amount of challenging. A lot of the time when I am bored in the car, or traveling, or just ya going out in my room, I do use this game as a time killer, which does seem to be helpful to kill time, and it’s super soothing with all the calming slow music, and how the backgrounds on the puzzles are always really pretty pictures and they are really soothing to look at, too. I definitely love this game, and would love to see the one change made to it.
Fun little game to help kill time, but one flaw
by mr_coldcutts on 2020/04/10 13:38
I’ve been playing this game for a couple months now. It’s a fun way to kill time and even exercise your brain a bit. I do like that it has a feature that lets you easily look up the definition of words that you might not recognize, so it has helped me expand my vocabulary a bit. This also, however, exposes one of the flaws of the game. The one frustrating thing about this game is with what words it will and will not recognize. This fault is not so much with the game itself, but with the dictionary source it uses. It allows a few slang and abbreviated words that I wouldn’t have thought to use. It even allows for some slightly more scientific terms but not others. Most notably, it doesn’t allow for certain words that connote a more recent understanding and sensitivity to LGBTQ populations. Once again, I point this not a flaw of the actual coding, but rather the dictionary base that it uses. Finally, the amount of ads within the game is a bit annoying, but such if the case fit just about any freemium game.
Reached First Place in Your Tournament!
by PatScott19 on 2020/11/06 23:58
I love this game, and as you can read from the title, I won first place yesterday! One minor thing: On the right side of the playing field screen, there are “hints”, “rocket”, and such. Playing the game today (I try to do some rounds every day!), I accidentally brushed my hand over the edge of my I-pad, hitting “hints” accidentally. Is there someway you could devise a stop to this accidental motion??? Perhaps it could take 2 taps to choose a hint or rocket or such?? Possibly, the screen could come up with a question: “Do you want one hint? Press the button.” This is a WARNING to all players, particularly new ones: BEWARE of accidentally “brushing” your hand over “hints” etc.! Hints alone cost 100 points EACH use. One new point of contention: At the bottom of the screen are ads. Most are ok, but “Jigsaw Puzzle Collection” has a moving ad ACROSS the screen, with puzzle pieces going into place or such. This is a MAJOR distraction. I block this ad with my hand as I play with my other hand.
Good but adds show better please respond to this
by S.Couzens on 2019/03/08 22:19
This is a very nice game with MANY ups and few downs. Though that is why I’m writing this, because of the downs. So first, I don’t see why there is not an easier way to get money besides finding extra words, which tray don’t give you very much money. A second reason I’m writing this is because in the adds it kinda says in different words that this game is a stress reliever, but of course, again, in different words. That’s the problem because sometimes you spend FOREVER trying to figure out JUST ONE word and have no money for a hint which can make you stressed. The third and final flaw to the game is how the adds say how this game makes you smarter but I really don’t see how it does that. So basically, in all, this is a fun game that I play slightly more than a lot of my others and I think it’s good for all ages!(Well, not ages 5 and under because they are kinda stupid and don’t know very many words lol😏)Thank you for this wonderful experience and I hope you make a few improvements. -Sam
Fun While it Lasts
by Zach Knowledge on 2019/11/14 03:33
After seeing so many different ads for this game, I finally downloaded Wordscapes. The game was a lot more fun to start off than what I thought it would be. The early levels are easy and introduce the crossword mechanic to you so you get familiar with it. As you progress through the levels, the puzzles get harder. To help with the harder puzzles, the game gives you power ups, but I hardly found the need to use them and the money to buy hints was very easy to come across. The game offers a nice variety of backgrounds for all the different levels, so the game as a whole is a peaceful experience that also makes you feel like you are keeping your mind sharp. I do admit though that some charm is lost after 100 levels or so, and I found myself not feeling the urge to keep continuing on. This may be because it is still just the same game mechanic over and over. So the experience is still a fun one but it does lose a bit of appeal after some time. I see a lot of complaints on the ads of the game, but they didn’t bother me an they would only last for 5 seconds usually. A solid game overall.
Fun! But Please Fix Binocular Game!
by Happy Psalm 113:9 on 2021/01/07 23:19
My husband and I love to play this binocular game! (We also race against each other with the daily game and compete as individuals in the tournaments.). We were enjoying the Binocular Game to earn little pictures/avatars. However, we are getting too frustrated with the earned avatar rewards constantly and repeatedly giving us points toward the same pictures we’ve already unlocked. We invest a lot of time playing to unlock a picture...which already takes 1-3 rounds of 5-6 games each to unlock! We aren’t Mensa geniuses! It takes us a little time to complete some of these puzzles! Then, when we’re looking forward to see our reward, it’s been the same avatar over and over. I had 1 one avatar with 7 points! It unlocked at 3. I know you gave me another prize after 3 to 4 repeats but even THAT one was a repeat! Please review this and make a programming change so that once an avatar is unlocked, points go to other unlocked avatars only! Then we can feel like it truly is a reward worth playing for. Thanks for all the other things we love about this game!
Love it, but..... 😬⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love WordScapes but I have some issues, that I would you guys can fix in the next update. I play on an IPad and a IPhone. I have no problems on my IPhone, but instead my IPad. When I got on WordScapes on my IPad, my screen freezes and powers off, but that only happens on WordScapes. I tried almost everything I could think of, such as turning off and on, deleting the app, and restarting my IPad. It still does this problem. My friend plays on her IPad as well, and she doesn’t have a problem with it at all. Please fix this, I’m giving it a 5 star review because I love this game, when I’m on my iPhone, but please fix this problem for the next update, and please decrease the number of ads per minute. Oh and one more thing.... The game board can’t understand some English words that are English, and it’s really frustrating, and can you please fix some bugs and glitches for the next update? Thank you so much, and please text me back if you guys can! Thanks a lot! -
It’s fine

I really think this game is addictive. It’s a great game but not the best. Honestly I like doing these crossword puzzle stuff. I don’t want to be rude but, there are some bad things about this game. One, too many bonus words. I think it makes the game more challenging because I would have to make a new word. I’m 11 and I don’t know every word in the world! I am on at least level 100. Mostly, when I find a simple word it’s a bonus word! I am not the best at finding new words. Sometimes there are words that I have to find which are words that I don’t know the meaning to. I even have to get my mom to do some of the levels for me! I feel like I am too old for that. All the words I know are just stupid bonus words! Two, when I watch an ad to get more coins, it advertises the same game! It keeps advertising Toon Blast! I feel like I am too old for that game! Please stop advertising Toon Blast all the time. I’m sure there are other great addictive games you can advertise. To be honest, I can get addicted to this game. Overall, great game. 🙂

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me. I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed. She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb In the shape of an "L" on her forehead. Well, the years start coming and they don't stop coming Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running. Didn't make sense not to live for fun. Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb. So much to do, so much to see. So what's wrong with taking the backstreets? You'll never know if you don't go. You'll never shine if you don't glow. Hey now you're an All Star, get your game on, go play. Hey now you're a Rock Star, get the show on, get paid. And all that glitters is gold. Only shooting stars break the mold. It's a cool place, and they say it gets colder. You're bundled up now but wait 'til you get older. But the meteor men beg to differ. Judging by the hole in the satellite picture. The ice we skate is getting pretty thin. The water's getting warm so you might as well swim. My world's on fire, how about yours? That's the way I like it and I'll never get bored.
Not for word game lovers
by kwhite9266 on 2020/12/19 04:45
If you’re a big fan of high scoring word games, this is... frustrating. It’s been known for a long time that the dictionary of this game is severely lacking. I’ve looked and it probably contains around a third of the playable Scrabble words of 3-7 letters. This is frustrating if you’re big into word games to see real English words be rejected over and over again. But it’s not their fault. At one point, a few months back, the developers randomly expanded their dictionary to include just about every scrabble word. This lasted maybe 2 weeks; I’m guessing the outcry from the fan base was loud and angry. In the tournament mode on the weekends, bonus words count for a lot, so if you don’t know the words you are at a tremendous disadvantage. So the dictionary was scaled back once again and valid words are back to being rejected. Oh well. I still play it but it’s frustrating even when you know which words are allowed. At this point it’s kind of a memory game: this real English word is fine, but this one isn’t. Stakes are low though, so it’s a fine distraction. Just don’t expect a challenge.
Soo amazing but...

This game is AMAZING!!! Great game. When I first got this game I didn’t use it often.I didn't give it a chance. But soon I started using it more and let me tell you, I got ADDICTED. There are very few big adds and a bunch of fun levels! Now I got my mom and dad hooked on it too! 😂 I think this app is great but some improvements could be made. First of all there should be more ways to get coins because if you loose all of them it takes weeks to get more. Secondly there are so many little adds at the bottom of the screen that can sometime block off parts of the game but I do understand that putting adds can help make more money for the app. Thirdly (this one isn’t a big one but here we go) I personally wish the background would change every level. Sometimes it gets boring looking at the same background all the time. Other than those few things app is amazing and I would like to thank the creator for making such an amazing app👍❤️🙂

I like the simplicity of the game. Make words out of given letters. Words are simple everyday used words, not words that are hardly heard of. It allows you to use coins you earned to help you out if you are stuck. Every so often there’s tournament you can join and enjoy. It is not bombarded by different multiple activities that get you sidetracked from the original game; just enough to allow you opportunities to earn more money that you can use later to help you out. It beats the purpose of sharpening your brain by cheating and you really won’t need to if you play the way it should be played. It’s a “make you feel good” game as you level up. It makes you see how good you really are with words and along the way learn how to actually spell words by trying. Love that it’s not timed either (except for some tournaments you can opt out of playing). Kudos to the developer of the game. It was worth for me paying to take ads out!
From Best To Worst

This used to be one of my favorite games. With the latest update, they took away several known words to limit your ability to earn extra coins. This was done as yet another incentive to get you to pay for coins. You also have to go in and out of the app multiple times a day to get your “daily bonus.” I certainly understand wanting to make money, but features shouldn’t be taken away to do so. I truly hope this is rectified soon. I received a notification indicating I’d received a response, but your reviews are in terrible order. I saw another response stating all players have the same lists now. That’s great, now let’s add all of the words you removed to keep players from earning their own coins instead of having to buy them from you. I’ve already paid to upgrade to ad-free and have spent a decent amount of money on the app, but refuse to spend more. If the words are not added back soon, I will just delete the app, which is sad because it is my go-to daily app (even though I rarely get my “daily bonus”) and I truly enjoy the tournaments. There are other word games out there, it looks like it is time to find one.
Fun but...
by ZambotTheShadow on 2019/06/27 19:21
Update: This game was uninstalled at 7am. It is now 2:20pm and the game is STILL using my battery even though it is uninstalled. I haven’t been on my phone other than texting and somehow my phone dropped down to 54% when it was fully charged. So, naturally I look at my battery to see what’s causing to drop so low so fast and it says “uninstalled apps 54%”. I’ve only uninstalled one app today and that was this game this morning. Just warning everyone. DO NOT get this game if you want to save the battery life on your phone. This is a really fun game but in ten minutes my battery dropped from 60% to 32% and my phone got extremely hot. I looked at how much of my battery the app was using and it said 92%!!!! This morning, when I haven’t been on it for over 8 hours, it is still somehow using 62% of my battery. All because I was on it TEN MINUTES last night. This game is obviously meant for iPads or tablets - not phones. It was fun but it shouldn’t do that to my phone in just ten minutes. Also, there were words that they said weren’t really words. Their dictionary needs to be expanded big time. How can this game be about dictionary words and you don’t even have half of them?
Best of its kind!
by MarieAnnet on 2017/09/28 13:42
There are several word formation games out there and I've tried quite a few. But this one stands out for me, in part for its ease of use when forming the words, and "backtracking" when you realize you're not spelling what you meant. Other apps don't let you undo the word as easily. The circular formation of the letters (rather than linear) also helps your eye find other word possibilities. I find this game to be very addictive, and I marched through the first 22 levels (over 2000 games) in just a few weeks before having to wait for the most recent levels to be released. It’s a good way for some folks to build their vocabulary, I suppose, though some might find it frustrating for that same reason. The only “complaint” I have is that the background scenery is sometimes too light to see the blank space for a letter. I’ve lost count of the times I was trying to make a three-letter word when it was actually four letters.
What is this app?
by BayGrace325 on 2018/09/03 21:56
I rate this app a 5. I haven’t gotten to the super difficult levels yet, but I thoroughly enjoy Wordscapes. This app has a lot of potential and is fun when you’re bored. I personally love these type of games, and look for good ones when I can. I recommend this game a lot, and hope you enjoy it too! One thing I hope to be added is some more depth to the game. It is very fun, but needs a new outfit every once and a while. If you wear a hat for too long, it gets dirty and weary. Soon it will be worn out and used less. Games are the same way, and it needs some new decoration. Maybe add more rewards, like creating and designing a character. Maybe this character could be used for mini games you win after every level. After every level you could get a ticket, and when you want you could spend the ticket on a mini game. It’s just a thought, not any force to have. Thanks for reading my review, and I hope you put it into consideration!
Money grab
by Mattislegend86 on 2019/11/05 16:06
The game is fun and free, so, it has that going for it. However, it's deeply flawed, at least in my opinion. Words like 'Asia' are not considered words - but 'dale' is considered a word? Okay, I can deal with that. But what I can't support is the obvious "give us your money" scheme. The game operates like a crossword puzzle, so, all of the words are connected to some degree - except the word at the very top that shows up every few levels. Since it's not connected (outside of the crossword), you have no guesses as to what any of the letters may be. So, once you've exhausted your vocabulary, you're still left with this one word before you can proceed to the next level. After spending 10+ minutes, you're tempted to use those valuable tokens you've earned just to get a hint. It's not as big of an issue in the earlier level tiers. However, once you've progressed far enough, it becomes ever more clear that this one word was placed here to convince you to buy more tokens. This breaks the game as you're compelled to use hints. If this were removed, the game would be a solid brain stimulant. But it creates an unfair advantage and the player is handicapped for the sake of greed. 1/5

A life long dyslexic I have experienced greater ability in spelling and word recognition. I’ve realized what a large vocabulary I already have. I’ve added interesting words and etymology to my experience. I better understand the exact letter combinations that still challenge me. I’ve added new neurological pathways. This has added to my ability to communicate by writing. I have more confidence. It’s been fun in a time in history when I needed something to do in isolation that’s changing my brain. Thanks. One suggestion: it’s taken me so long to figure out what coins are for, and how to play without ads, where to find hints and how to keep a balance playing. I still don’t know why you can shuffle the letters in the circle. Does that shuffle, when repeatedly pushed, culminate in a descrambling of the word? I guess I’d better try that. It would be good to have a place that lays out the structure of the game.
Addicting!
by Giants Fan in AZ on 2020/09/06 03:47
I love the game and the tournaments. I do get exasperated at the same words being used over and over — an awful lot not spelled correctly — and then in the next gone guy don’t even get credit for the same words. But it’s fun and sometimes it’s amazing how long you can look at a word and not get it. I find it crazy that someone can get a crown with 10 points. In most tournaments you barely have to play to get 10 points. Let the people who are competing get the crowns! All in all, love the game. UPDATE: Extremely disappointed that some ads now have sound. I dropped another game because of this. At the times I play, I often need quiet for the people around me, which means I can’t play. Other times I’m listening to a ball game and every time one of those stupid ads comes in, I have to get rid of it, then Re-start the sound for the game. It’s not worth it. If it happened once in a while it would not be so bad, but it’s every couple of minutes. Fix this issue please. The ads without sound are good enough!
Overall enjoyable
by cheaaalsea on 2020/07/22 04:21
Overall I enjoy the game. It is a good way to pass time and work your brain muscles at the same time. Some levels are harder than others while some are super easy. Certain words that it accepts or doesn’t accept are sometimes confusing but eventually I figure them out. I like the option to reorganize the letters and look at it from a new perspective! It is really helpful sometimes when you get stuck for a while. The daily puzzles are the one of the only parts I get frustrated with because you only get the butterflies to collect stars for the pictures if you figure out the specific word in the column it is asking for at a time. If you figure a different one out, no butterfly. The ads would be my only other complaint. After every level, there is an ad. Which is very annoying. I began to see the same ad so many times for another game that I eventually downloaded it because I saw it so much I figured I might as well try it out.
oddly calming
by emma_loves_cows on 2020/05/13 06:18
I don’t usually write reviews. In fact, anytime an app tells me to rate it I hit that X button so fast. But when the notification popped up on Wordscapes, I clicked it and here we are. It’s really fun and calming. I like to use it to relax before bed so I can sleep. It’s the perfect game for someone like me who can’t seem to shut their brain off. I like that this app takes my overthinking brain and uses it to ruminate over word options instead of daily anxieties. It helps me sleep better and I’m on level four hundred something. My friends make fun of me because I’m like 20 years old and playing vocab games instead of social media lol but I dont care; My whole family plays now too! There’s very few apps on my phone I use daily but I really like this one. I really like the weekend tourneys and the daily puzzles, it’s nice to have the variation and a little competition ya know? So Thanks! Imma go play the daily puzzle now
Very fun but coins are insufficient...??? Waves of ads too..
by JewwyBean(๑╹ω╹๑ ) on 2021/02/11 01:12
Alright, first things first, this is one of the most funnest word games ever! However the coins in this game are insufficient!! The levels only give you a little bit of coins though you try so hard in completing a level. I find that a bit ridiculous since you need coins to buy hints but it takes forever to collect enough coins for them. I know what some people are gonna say; “You can join a group and receive free hints and such by requesting!” I know that..it’s just that the people in some groups don’t pay attention to your requests OR it takes very long just to collect one, like do you really need 4 people to confirm your hint? Maybe 2 or 3 will be enough but 4 is too much smh😒. There are also wayyy too many ads in this game. For me it’s like the game is half puzzle and half ads. I’m getting a bit tired of this...If you change some of these things and read this review, thank you so much! Thank you for your time and have a good day <3
Absolutely beautiful game!
by KalosKagathos on 2018/09/30 17:31
I won’t repeat everything so many have said, except to say that, in terms of overall design and graphics, Wordscapes is truly the most aesthetically pleasing game to play. The background images are simply spectacular. I only wish—and this is my 1st suggestion—that we players could somehow copy or download them (even if it meant paying a small fee for them!). The only reason I give the game 4 stars is b/c—and this is my 2nd suggestion—I really wish the puzzles became significantly more challenging, say, at least when you reach the really high levels. (As of this writing, I’ve finished all levels.) In other words, there are some very dedicated players who will keep finishing all the levels fairly quickly as new levels are (slowly!) added, so it would help to add levels that take significantly longer to finish. Hope that makes sense. Fyi, I nonetheless see my rating as a 4.8. :-) This is a must-have word game for sure!
Good concept
by Writerinfact on 2019/10/27 20:52
Not so great execution. It’s bad enough that the “videos” one must watch in order to get points (coins?) to buy hints are anything but random (when I hit 20 consecutive views of the same obnoxious game, I quit counting), but to sit through one and tap to get another only to be told that there are no videos available is, well, adding insult to injury. I also question the validity of some of the words; I have played Scrabble for years and am accustomed to stricter rules than Wordscapes apparently applies. Fix the video issues and I may update the review. Update: Video issues are, well, different. More instances of “no video available” and (new one) after video, screen freezes BEFORE awarding coins, and game must be exited in order to unfreeze, losing earned coins. Plus, you have to open a different app before coming back to try again to earn coins. Sometimes you get a video before getting “no video available” and sometimes you don’t. Sorry, the issues outweigh the “pleasure” of playing this game. At level 512, I will not be playing any more.
Battery Drain
by phoebe_buffay on 2019/07/12 03:29
This game is super fun. They use a terrible dictionary, know that before going down this rabbit hole. Very addicting game, such a blast to play. Also, sort of relaxing. HOWEVER——this is the WORST battery drain I have literally ever seen! Plus data sucker! A lot of the other poor reviews state the ads, which do become frequent, depending on the speed you play. There is an ad after Every. Single. Game. So, if you breeze through the game, there is an ad. You spend 30 seconds on the game then watch a 30 second commercial. And there are about 5 different ads they cycle through, that’s it. My biggest gripe, though, is how quickly this will drain your battery. It gets very warm, very fast. 20 minutes of playing (if you have a full battery) and it is hot! There is a tournament on the weekends, but you cannot play as often as you would like because of the instadrain. I can play this once or twice a day for a few minutes. I don’t like having to constantly watch the time and battery level while playing. So, so sad because I will most likely end up deleting.

Otherwise this would’ve been a five star game.

by To the hilt on 2021/03/06 23:13
Love the game, even with the repetition of puzzles.

Misleading
by Paultrgeist on 2019/10/31 19:44
So, in this post-fact world the advert says you’ll learn to read faster and improve your vocabulary.
Elegant and fun but could stand to be more rewarding
by Staticandbanal on 2017/09/20 05:11
Very lovely uncluttered layouts and short puzzle times make this a great app for de-stressing and passing time on short bus rides, standing in line, etc.

Fun and challenging
by DO NOT DOWNLOAD‼️ on 2019/02/21 21:57
I like the simplicity of the game.
From Best To Worst
by Jenbroughton on 2020/07/06 22:29
This used to be one of my favorite games.
