Love the game, but the ads became too long
by Tifstir on 2019/08/17 14:28
I used to play the game everyday, but the the ads increased in length. I totally understand that the ads pay for development and that I could pay for ad-free. I don’t mind the ads as it’s interesting to see what products are out there, but these became too long so I have switched to another game.

This is a great game and I really loved it for months. Then in the middle of a weekend tournament it froze and would not respond for hours. I deleted and restored it, but even though it asked to restore info from the cloud it reverted back to its original form as if the previous progress never existed. If there’s a fix for that I’d give it 5 Stars.

I just downloaded this game and I’m already addicted. It’s pretty easy...for now. However I know it will get harder. The one thing I did not like was the constant pop up ads. I ended up having to purchase a pop up block for $2.99 even after adjusting my setting to limit advertising tracking. A word of caution, if you don’t control yourself, you’ll end up spending a bit of money on bees, bullseye and coins to help you solve the puzzles as it gets harder.
Something wrong with ads
by szgkifdsghfd on 2019/08/17 02:00
Liked the game, but kept getting ads that had sexual connotations like man tied to bed, man having sex in other room with someone listening from other side of door, man holding his private parts running to bathroom...gross gross gross. Deleted the app. With these ads, keep children and teens away.
Love it, but could be improved
by Elhanan2 on 2019/04/11 22:56
I really love this game and it’s one of my personal favorites, but I think that there are some ways that it could be improved. For one thing, more chances to get coins would be very convenient for the players who don’t have 100 or more coins; not many people would want to have to watch advertisement after advertisement to finally get to 100 coins- which will promptly be spent on a single hint- which brings me to another thing that I think could be improved: players should be able to get more than just one hint for 100 coins. Many players might get stuck on a certain level and use a hint, but once again, there are players who don’t have 100 coins or even close to that amount! However, if you could buy more than one hint for the same amount, many people would be much happier and this game would be much more enjoyable to them and myself. I think that this is an amazing game, but boosters should be more accessible and players wouldn’t have to buy more coins and boosters, which could add up to a considerable sum of money. I don’t think that this game is a scam, as other players have said in their reviews, but more boosters and coins would be much appreciated. Thank you for creating this awesome game; I really love it.
Not terrible, but not great
by Dynamite Furball on 2019/05/26 03:37
I can say it’s fun and easy to get lost in, as I made it through 80-ish levels in about 2 hours, but that’s where the magic ends. This isn’t a game I expected to see abbreviations in (app=application among others. They aren’t terribly common, that’s just the most recent one). Around puzzle 90, the first word I made, and was shocked to see accepted, was “skeet”. As far as I knew, this was just slang and I deleted the game. Skeet shooting, however, is actually a sport. Unlike most people, I didn’t even look at the boosters, aids, and ad free purchases I could make as I don’t bother until I’m well and truly stuck. The plus is, like others have said, ads go quickly and are usually skipable in about 5 seconds. Coins are fairly easy to earn and usually you can make dumb match ups and random ones that you didn’t realize were words will be accepted even if they don’t go on the board, and earn you more coins. Plurals and singulars of words you’ve already made, if they can be made, count this way too if there isn’t a spot on the board for them. There is no downside to randomly matching x amount of letters and being wrong, other than a mild amount of frustration, a little time potentially wasted, and maybe using a hint or power up if you’re really that stuck. Overall it’s a good game, there are just moments where it feels unprofessional and I find them to be jarring.
Overall, Great game.
by ExtraExtraReadAllAboutIt on 2018/11/11 06:30
It’s simple to play, but gradually increases in difficulty at a pleasant pace. Each tier will require several new words than the previous, as you fly through each word puzzle. And with over 4,000 levels, there’s enough variety in the required words, to keep the game interesting. All while allowing the player to expand their everyday vocabulary. There are options to help if you become stuck on a puzzle, but you will need to spend the in game currency for these boosts. You can earn the coin currency at a steady pace by completing the puzzles, and placing high in tournament ranks can help tremendously. There’s also an option to buy the in game currency through secured in app purchases if the player desires to do so. With this being a free to play and free downloadable app, there are a decent amount of advertisements within the app. However, there’s even an option to remove all advertisements with a one time, in app purchase that helps to support the development team. In conclusion, this is easily a 5 star game, in my opinion, and excellent for passing the time while allowing you to exercise your mind. Would recommend. 👍🏻
troubling advertisements
by The Masked Dolphin on 2017/12/29 23:06
hello, I downloaded this application in the hopes of finding some nice, calming mental stimulation over my Christmas holiday. The dew drops and mountain scenes in the background really add to that; this game is, overall, quite soothing. It's like beachfront yoga for the mind. HOWEVER, I was troubled to find two recurrent advertisements throughout the application. The first is for a game called "Toon Blast" with the caption "blast the cubes." Now, I understand how some children may find this entertaining; but I am quite appalled that the Wordscapes company found that an appropriate accompaniment to my soothing afternoon playing with word puzzles -- BLASTing??? My, this is troubling to say the least. The other advert is quite alarming, as it shows a scene of an elderly couple waking their adult child and saying, "quick! we must leave -- we sold the house!" Now, this is a lot of panic to set upon my calm mind. This boy now has to renovate a house??? On a moment's notice??? And why is he living with his elderly parents?? He looks quite old. I do not appreciate being reminded of the burden children have eternally on their parents lives while I'm playing Wordscapes. Overall, great game, however I may have to stop playing if these troubling adverts don't end soon because I cannot remain calm.
Trains your Brain
by LoveHonus on 2019/08/08 07:16
I have been searching for a new word game and this definitely is worth every penny. The thing I like about this game unlike the other popular ones is that it isn’t timed unless you’re playing in a tournament. I also agree with another reviewer that the small fee to go ad-free is a must! I enjoy the picturesque backgrounds and gentle music. The challenging part of Wordscapes is trying to spell all the selected words in each level. That’s where the “hints” come in handy (Ex: bees, target, light bulb, and firework). You can either purchase the hints or earn them-which takes a considerable longer time to earn. Another thing that makes this extra challenging is that some of the words are not common words you’d hear or use everyday. I find myself looking up the words in their dictionary feature, however, I wished it came with a pronunciation key but that’s just my opinion. I can really feel my mind being put to use after playing this game which proves this game makes you think! I look forward to hearing the whole musical scale (Do-re-mi) since the OCD in me wants to hear it in its entirety! LOL!
It’s okay...
by Foggyhat on 2019/01/01 16:06
It is an okay app so far. Starts off WAY to easy, but I guess that’s probably so that anyone can play, even young kids. It has far too many 3 letter words for my liking. It probably gets harder eventually, but till that point, it is a bit boring for me. I have two other qualms. The first is that there are legal words that the game doesn’t accept. If you do come up with a word that was not chosen for the crossword, it counts as a “bonus word” (which adds to your total to be able to later use for hints, which is a good idea). However, there are valid words that the game doesn’t accept. I can’t remember all of them right now, but some are “alee” and “luged”. They accepted “luge” just fine, so I have no idea why the past tense in “luged” would be an issue. The other main issue that annoys me is the frequency of the ads. I’ve played other games that have ads before, and I understand that’s how free games supplement their income in order to give us the content in the game. However, the frequency of the ads is the issue in this game. By far the most frequent ads I’ve ever seen. Sometimes have to deal with an ad every two minutes or less, if I finish the crossword quickly, which is ridiculous. At least you can X out of the ads fairly quickly. Still, having ads that often is annoying.
Fun game
by Passnthru on 2018/10/28 03:26
Great game challenging, fun and addictive. I would give it more stars but feel it’s not evenly played. My wife has been playing for months and her hints are 50 coins, I’ve been playing a couple months and enjoy the game but the hints on mine are 100 coins, the target hints 200 and rocket blast 300 totally bogus pricing. Before you say she’s at higher score(she is) I have a daughter, granddaughter and soninlaw that all signed up after I did and 2 of them at my recommendation and wait for it...... their hints are 50,100,150 coins. I’m not the only one this has happened to in the support section there are other complaints of the same thing. I sent an email to them with questions about this and I will say they answered rather quickly but with a crazy response of “we’re trying different pricing to see which we decide on.” What I got out of the answer was we think we can gouge some folks on the pricing so when they buy coins they get less benefit for the money they pay. I started with 2 stars but as I wrote this I down graded it go 1. Get your act together and I’ll revisit this review!!!!! Have talked to them thru emails 3 different times and each time it’s the same, ”we’re trying different pricing to see where it levels out, hmmm I wonder if they’ll refund the folks that bought hints and removed ads at the higher prices when they level out, hmmm NOT!!!!!
Great, fun, awesome game!
by Cookie Kenna on 2019/01/15 01:17
Wordscapes is very fun and not too addicting, perfect for anytime of the day you might be bored at all, and can help a lot with learning new words! I personally play this game more than I probably should, but ever since I started playing, I haven’t been making many grammar mistakes, so I have indeed shown an improvement in my texts, emails, and essays. Although in this game there are ads, I mean, duh, but they aren’t in the way all the time and getting in the way of the game, so I congratulate the company for that. This game has a very unique design to it too. I love how there are different scenes in the background and they change as you level up. We need more games like that: more colorful, more creative, unique, and not too addictive. This world needs more games with less violence and more fun (I am not saying Fortnite isn’t fun, but I am saying we need to reduce on the violence). For future generations to come, for our kids, for our kids’ kids, we need better games as another option oppose to violent games, so this community can learn to grow and stop becoming “couch potatoes.” Anyway, I really enjoy playing this game, and thank you for not making it too ad-filled. Thanks! Cookie Kenna
Best of all the word games
by AlectricZap on 2017/12/18 17:48
Great format. The way getting words ends up giving hints for remaining words keeps the momentum going, so the experience stays fun and is rarely frustrating. If you do ever get stuck, you can buy a hint for a reasonable number of coins, which you earn at a decent rate by playing through the game, as well as with daily gifts and puzzles. Speaking of which, the daily puzzles keep your interest fresh and provide a fun twist on the format. Best of all, this game doesn’t trip you up with obscure words you’ve never heard of. Almost all of the words you have to spell are commonly recognized, and if you do happen to find any words the puzzle doesn’t use, you’re rewarded with bonus coins. This game provides an incredible number of puzzles to progress through, along with daily puzzles, all for free, only having to bear an ad every couple of puzzles. This app was very well designed. There are a lot of similar games out there, and you probably wouldn’t enjoy the overlap of having more than one, so I recommend this being the one you go with, because I really believe it’s the best one.
Very fun, but one thing I want to give advice about...
by Pikachublue21 on 2018/10/02 23:17
So far, this was the best word game I ever played. You can make words to complete puzzles, get coins, or just fiddle around with the letters until you make some words. You can also use the video on the Earn Free Coins section to get 25 coins per vid if u get stuck, but there's one thing I want to advice about.....whatever you do, DO NOT use the surveys to get free coins. When I checked it out I found out that whoever runs this survey thing is really just trying to get a hold of your personal information. Even the 15 question survey is trying to get personal info from people. That's why I did not even complete the 15 question survey and I'm glad I did not summit it. If you want to get free coins, I would recommend you just do the videos for coins and not mess with the offers or the surveys. I don't know what company runs this game but they might have someone like hackers running this survey thing so don't use the survey thing whatever you do or they may get your personal information. Otherwise, this is a really great game.
Kill Time, It’s fun minus a few things
by Ms_Marine09 on 2018/08/10 22:52
It’s a great word game to play, between this and Ruzzle (my favorite), I think the game is pretty fun. I enjoy learning new words and expanding my vocabulary so this helps. The game allows you to guess words without a limit or consequence no matter how many incorrect tries. It also has a built in dictionary so you can look up the definitions of any of the words you find. Cons: You don’t rack up many coins, so you have to be good at guessing or pay for more coins. The hints are so expensive for a game that doesn’t allow you to rake up many coins per round. To earn coins you have to play 16 round to get at most 75 coins. Each round you can earn coins by guessing words that aren’t in the puzzle using the letters given. You get one coin per word; ripoff. I guess it’s a money thing. The hints cost 100, 200, and 300 coins so be mindful of how often you ask for hints, unless you don’t mind buying coins. Some words that are real words, aren’t recognized by the system. Some words you’ve probably never heard of, are definitely a part of the game. So with all that being said, I recommend the game, but it could be better.
Missed Credits on Daily Challenges
by Lauraaapieee on 2019/05/28 12:10
I haven’t seen any other reviews on this so I’m not sure if I’m one of a few that has this problem. I love this game but the problem is with the daily challenges. I’ve played this game for months (possibly a couple years) and always, always do the daily challenges. It’s a ritual I do while eating breakfast. For every so many days you complete, you can get coins and it goes up in increments so that you should (on the months that have 31 days) be able to get the big prize of 500 coins. The problem is there are usually about 2 or 3 days out of the month that it doesn’t give me credit for that therefore insuring I will not get the 500 coins. It always happens!!! It goes to the next screen after I complete the challenge and goes through the sounds and motions but my number/count doesn’t go up one. Super annoying and it’s almost like it does it on purpose so that no one can get the 500 coins so we will be forced to pay for hints since they cost an exorbitant amount to begin with and always run out of money. It’s been bothering me for months so just wanted to complain.
Elegant and fun but could stand to be more rewarding

Very lovely uncluttered layouts and short puzzle times make this a great app for de-stressing and passing time on short bus rides, standing in line, etc. My kids also love it and will beg to "help" me find words if they catch me playing it. A few critiques: you have to do seemingly endless easy puzzles before getting to any remotely challenging ones; I wish they increased the difficulty sooner, maybe based on your solve time. Also not sure what the "brilliance" is about, and there's nothing to use the coins for either. I finished with over 3700 coins, but when I press "shop" the only option is to buy even MORE coins using real money. It's also kind of annoying that it won't accept certain real words for no apparent reason (e.g. girt, purl, cote, hod, coir, trice, creel, cant... and the list goes on). Yet it DOES use a bunch of slang words like blog, pic, toon, etc. What dictionary are they using?! Overall an excellent app, I'll probably go back and redo the upper levels from time to time (fortunately it unsolves them again after you finish).
Great

Many words are overused for example you see words were used in multiple puzzles and far too many words that are good words- words that are not overused, are not included in the puzzles. Beautiful backgrounds and a very relaxing game. Kids should not be worse or cost 100 points but it takes 100 extra words not included the crosswords to come up with that many. To clarify what has to come back with 100 words that are not included in the puzzles just to be able to get want to hint at what hit is only one letter at a word either the entire ward that proportion is way off. Yes the same words are used over and over and over again that will be the reason that I stop playing this game. There are billions of words at the English language to use the same words over and over again completely deplete the purpose of the game. But it is a great relaxing way to enjoy a Phone game at all so I do find it addictive. It only needs slight revision. With the game finally finished is there a grand prize? it’s not clear on that.
Scam so you are sucked into spending $$$
by Vivvie1 on 2019/07/24 03:11
This is potentially a terrific game which sadly hinges on a player spending tons of money. If you are a ‘wordie’ like I am, you are always looking for brain teasers. The game itself is a good brain teaser. HOWEVER, beware!! As you move up levels you will be enticed to spend money in order to move up in the game. I purchased the $2.99 option which removed adds, thinking I would be free to play the game. NOT SO! I am now stuck having to watch adds, or take a survey if I want to move forward in the game and cannot come up with a particular word. For each Ad or survey you watch, you earn 25 points. 100 points are needed for a letter clue. Another peeve, I know more words than the puzzle itself, so rather than give me the word I know, the puzzle either doesn’t know the word, or pushes it off to the side in a category box for ‘additional words’, where it just languishes. There is no extra win associated with knowing more. All-in-all, this is an extremely frustrating game if you don’t want to spend lots of money to purchase playing time. I hope the developers read this and take to heart that they can’t expect people to pay a fee ($2.99) and then continue to squeeze. For sheer frustration, I rate this game with one star.
Love it, but..... 😬⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love WordScapes but I have some issues, that I would you guys can fix in the next update. I play on an IPad and a IPhone. I have no problems on my IPhone, but instead my IPad. When I got on WordScapes on my IPad, my screen freezes and powers off, but that only happens on WordScapes. I tried almost everything I could think of, such as turning off and on, deleting the app, and restarting my IPad. It still does this problem. My friend plays on her IPad as well, and she doesn’t have a problem with it at all. Please fix this, I’m giving it a 5 star review because I love this game, when I’m on my iPhone, but please fix this problem for the next update, and please decrease the number of ads per minute. Oh and one more thing.... The game board can’t understand some English words that are English, and it’s really frustrating, and can you please fix some bugs and glitches for the next update? Thank you so much, and please text me back if you guys can! Thanks a lot! -
Challenging and fun!
by Savage_tootsie_roll✌️🤟🏻 on 2018/04/25 00:28
I love playing this game to be able to challenge my brain. I also love how if you put a word on the puzzle, you can click it to see the actual definition of the word. The only thing I don’t like is how getting a hint for just one letter in whole puzzle costs 100 coins. Yes, you can get a bunch of coins, and the hints are pretty easy to pay for, but I don’t like how they are so “overpriced” and the fact that you don’t even get to pick which spot to get a hint on makes it more overpriced. But despite this little issue, (which I would love to see changed in a possible next update,) this game is super fun and is just the right amount of challenging. A lot of the time when I am bored in the car, or traveling, or just ya going out in my room, I do use this game as a time killer, which does seem to be helpful to kill time, and it’s super soothing with all the calming slow music, and how the backgrounds on the puzzles are always really pretty pictures and they are really soothing to look at, too. I definitely love this game, and would love to see the one change made to it.
Good but adds show better please respond to this
by S.Couzens on 2019/03/08 22:19
This is a very nice game with MANY ups and few downs. Though that is why I’m writing this, because of the downs. So first, I don’t see why there is not an easier way to get money besides finding extra words, which tray don’t give you very much money. A second reason I’m writing this is because in the adds it kinda says in different words that this game is a stress reliever, but of course, again, in different words. That’s the problem because sometimes you spend FOREVER trying to figure out JUST ONE word and have no money for a hint which can make you stressed. The third and final flaw to the game is how the adds say how this game makes you smarter but I really don’t see how it does that. So basically, in all, this is a fun game that I play slightly more than a lot of my others and I think it’s good for all ages!(Well, not ages 5 and under because they are kinda stupid and don’t know very many words lol😏)Thank you for this wonderful experience and I hope you make a few improvements. -Sam
Money grab
by Mattislegend86 on 2018/11/18 16:13
The game is fun and free, so, it has that going for it. However, it's deeply flawed, at least in my opinion. Words like 'Asia' are not considered words - but 'dale' is considered a word? Okay, I can deal with that. But what I can't support is the obvious "give us your money" scheme. The game operates like a crossword puzzle, so, all of the words are connected to some degree - except the word at the very top that shows up every few levels. Since it's not connected (outside of the crossword), you have no guesses as to what any of the letters may be. So, once you've exhausted your vocabulary, you're still left with this one word before you can proceed to the next level. After spending 10+ minutes, you're tempted to use those valuable tokens you've earned just to get a hint. It's not as big of an issue in the earlier level tiers. However, once you've progressed far enough, it becomes ever more clear that this one word was placed here to convince you to buy more tokens. This breaks the game as you're compelled to use hints. If this were removed, the game would be a solid brain stimulant. But it creates an unfair advantage and the player is handicapped for the sake of greed. 2/5

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me. I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed. She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb In the shape of an "L" on her forehead. Well, the years start coming and they don't stop coming Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running. Didn't make sense not to live for fun. Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb. So much to do, so much to see. So what's wrong with taking the backstreets? You'll never know if you don't go. You'll never shine if you don't glow. Hey now you're an All Star, get your game on, go play. Hey now you're a Rock Star, get the show on, get paid. And all that glitters is gold. Only shooting stars break the mold. It's a cool place, and they say it gets colder. You're bundled up now but wait 'til you get older. But the meteor men beg to differ. Judging by the hole in the satellite picture. The ice we skate is getting pretty thin. The water's getting warm so you might as well swim. My world's on fire, how about yours? That's the way I like it and I'll never get bored.

This game is AMAZING!!! Great game. When I first got this game I didn’t use it often.I didn't give it a chance. But soon I started using it more and let me tell you, I got ADDICTED. There are very few big adds and a bunch of fun levels! Now I got my mom and dad hooked on it too! 😂 I think this app is great but some improvements could be made. First of all there should be more ways to get coins because if you loose all of them it takes weeks to get more. Secondly there are so many little adds at the bottom of the screen that can sometime block off parts of the game but I do understand that putting adds can help make more money for the app. Thirdly (this one isn’t a big one but here we go) I personally wish the background would change every level. Sometimes it gets boring looking at the same background all the time. Other than those few things app is amazing and I would like to thank the creator for making such an amazing app👍❤️🙂
It’s fine

I really think this game is addictive. It’s a great game but not the best. Honestly I like doing these crossword puzzle stuff. I don’t want to be rude but, there are some bad things about this game. One, too many bonus words. I think it makes the game more challenging because I would have to make a new word. I’m 11 and I don’t know every word in the world! I am on at least level 100. Mostly, when I find a simple word it’s a bonus word! I am not the best at finding new words. Sometimes there are words that I have to find which are words that I don’t know the meaning to. I even have to get my mom to do some of the levels for me! I feel like I am too old for that. All the words I know are just stupid bonus words! Two, when I watch an ad to get more coins, it advertises the same game! It keeps advertising Toon Blast! I feel like I am too old for that game! Please stop advertising Toon Blast all the time. I’m sure there are other great addictive games you can advertise. To be honest, I can get addicted to this game. Overall, great game. 🙂
What is this app?
by BayGrace325 on 2018/09/03 21:56
I rate this app a 5. I haven’t gotten to the super difficult levels yet, but I thoroughly enjoy Wordscapes. This app has a lot of potential and is fun when you’re bored. I personally love these type of games, and look for good ones when I can. I recommend this game a lot, and hope you enjoy it too! One thing I hope to be added is some more depth to the game. It is very fun, but needs a new outfit every once and a while. If you wear a hat for too long, it gets dirty and weary. Soon it will be worn out and used less. Games are the same way, and it needs some new decoration. Maybe add more rewards, like creating and designing a character. Maybe this character could be used for mini games you win after every level. After every level you could get a ticket, and when you want you could spend the ticket on a mini game. It’s just a thought, not any force to have. Thanks for reading my review, and I hope you put it into consideration!

Update: This game was uninstalled at 7am. It is now 2:20pm and the game is STILL using my battery even though it is uninstalled. I haven’t been on my phone other than texting and somehow my phone dropped down to 54% when it was fully charged. So, naturally I look at my battery to see what’s causing to drop so low so fast and it says “uninstalled apps 54%”. I’ve only uninstalled one app today and that was this game this morning. Just warning everyone. DO NOT get this game if you want to save the battery life on your phone. This is a really fun game but in ten minutes my battery dropped from 60% to 32% and my phone got extremely hot. I looked at how much of my battery the app was using and it said 92%!!!! This morning, when I haven’t been on it for over 8 hours, it is still somehow using 62% of my battery. All because I was on it TEN MINUTES last night. This game is obviously meant for iPads or tablets - not phones. It was fun but it shouldn’t do that to my phone in just ten minutes. Also, there were words that they said weren’t really words. Their dictionary needs to be expanded big time. How can this game be about dictionary words and you don’t even have half of them?
Best of its kind!
by MarieAnnet on 2017/09/28 13:42
There are several word formation games out there and I've tried quite a few. But this one stands out for me, in part for its ease of use when forming the words, and "backtracking" when you realize you're not spelling what you meant. Other apps don't let you undo the word as easily. The circular formation of the letters (rather than linear) also helps your eye find other word possibilities. I find this game to be very addictive, and I marched through the first 22 levels (over 2000 games) in just a few weeks before having to wait for the most recent levels to be released. It’s a good way for some folks to build their vocabulary, I suppose, though some might find it frustrating for that same reason. The only “complaint” I have is that the background scenery is sometimes too light to see the blank space for a letter. I’ve lost count of the times I was trying to make a three-letter word when it was actually four letters.
Fun and challenging
by DO NOT DOWNLOAD‼️ on 2019/02/21 21:57
I like the simplicity of the game. Make words out of given letters. Words are simple everyday used words, not words that are hardly heard of. It allows you to use coins you earned to help you out if you are stuck. Every so often there’s tournament you can join and enjoy. It is not bombarded by different multiple activities that get you sidetracked from the original game; just enough to allow you opportunities to earn more money that you can use later to help you out. It beats the purpose of sharpening your brain by cheating and you really won’t need to if you play the way it should be played. It’s a “make you feel good” game as you level up. It makes you see how good you really are with words and along the way learn how to actually spell words by trying. Love that it’s not timed either (except for some tournaments you can opt out of playing). Kudos to the developer of the game. It was worth for me paying to take ads out!
Great App, just one thing......
by luvpiccollage on 2018/12/25 01:42
First of all, if you are reading this review, thank you for reading it and I hope you find it helpful! Ok, so this app is really great. I’m still going to keep my review 5 stars despite the one flaw I have. The app is great. It’s soothing, especially with the background of dew drops on leaves. It also gets your mind to really think. It makes your mind grow. You’ll find yourself on Level 1 struggling. And then on Level 4 breezing through the Level. One flaw though, is the ads. I’m not saying the amount of ads, I’m saying the type of ads. I’ll be relaxing, exercising my mind on a Level, then, a loud add will pop up. There is a repetitive add of the game Toon Blasts. The game is not at all like soothing WordScapes. It is loud and violent where you have to pop cubes. I’m not critizing the game, it’s a great game, it’s just not at all like WordScapes. Well, that’s it. Overall, amazing game. I highly recommend it.
Love it! Just one little thing
by #PUGSrock on 2019/06/19 05:23
I love Wordscapes it is a great game. I play it for almost a hour everyday. I like that there are wide verities of hints like bees, rockets, normal hints, shuffle, and targets. I have heard some complaints about the adds but I disagree they are not interrupting the game because they only come after a round. I also enjoy getting a prize everyday weather it is a free hint or just coins it is a great feature. But there is two little problems. One: when you start the daily puzzle but don’t Finnish it you can’t start the next day. I know that the point of the daily puzzle is to do a new puzzle everyday but maybe you could make a “Resume” button or a “Start a new one” Two: there is a space for adds on the bottom of the word bank, so if my hand slips it brings me right to the App Store. I know that Wordscapes themselves don’t provide the apps but they can at least move the bar. Aside from those problems Wordscapes is a great game, thanks for reading. And a wonderful game!
What do you mean, “money grab”?
by neostryder on 2019/02/07 04:48
I have been playing this game for a few months now, and am pushing level 900. It boggles my mind to think that there are still easily 5 times that many levels ahead of me! Early on, I got sick of the ads and opted to shoot the developers a couple of bucks to remove the ads. To this day, that is all I have spent on it. For the price of an energy drink, which I buy and drink and it’s gone, I have been enjoying this almost daily for months. I can’t fathom the people who rate a game like this low, calling it a money grab! I rarely spend this much time with $60 console games! When you pick up your paycheck, does your boss think that it’s a money grab because you expect to be paid for your work? This game is very well-made, and very much deserving of the profit it generates for the people who spent thousands of hours developing something fun for you to play! Thank you, guys!
Battery Drain
by phoebe_buffay on 2019/07/12 03:29
This game is super fun. They use a terrible dictionary, know that before going down this rabbit hole. Very addicting game, such a blast to play. Also, sort of relaxing. HOWEVER——this is the WORST battery drain I have literally ever seen! Plus data sucker! A lot of the other poor reviews state the ads, which do become frequent, depending on the speed you play. There is an ad after Every. Single. Game. So, if you breeze through the game, there is an ad. You spend 30 seconds on the game then watch a 30 second commercial. And there are about 5 different ads they cycle through, that’s it. My biggest gripe, though, is how quickly this will drain your battery. It gets very warm, very fast. 20 minutes of playing (if you have a full battery) and it is hot! There is a tournament on the weekends, but you cannot play as often as you would like because of the instadrain. I can play this once or twice a day for a few minutes. I don’t like having to constantly watch the time and battery level while playing. So, so sad because I will most likely end up deleting.
Highly addictive!
by Wordygirlie on 2018/02/06 20:57
I really enjoy this game, and have spent many hours playing. It’s beautifully designed and the crossword layout is an inspired addition for visual clues in finding the words. I also appreciate that the game isn’t timed, so I can do other things while I ponder my options. I do get frustrated, however, when words aren’t accepted that should be (among them: alar, alee, cant, coir, doge, ewer, fest, lei, lira, moa, nene, purl, roc, scree, steed, stet, tony, and trice). Sometimes the game accepts the singular but not the plural of a word (or vice versa)—isms but not ism, luge but not luges or luger. And I’ve occasionally had a word accepted that isn’t actually a word—baw, blar and poon—when I stopped in the middle of trying to spell something else. These aren’t terrible flaws, by any means, and I mention them only in hopes that the developer tweaks things to make an already great game even better. While they’re at it, maybe adding some explanation of “brilliance” points and other aspects of the game would also be beneficial. Enjoy!
So far, I enjoy!
by LadyBereness (SUDAN) on 2018/11/19 07:40
I’m assuming as you level up each puzzle will become more challenging. Great for Great Grandmothers such as myself. I believe it’s great to keep our mind sharp and for younger players it will help them with correct spelling as wr as learning new vocabulary words! Please excuse any typos. I have Multiple Sclerosis and totally blind in my left eye. I play this on my phone so it’s been fun. Just worried as zi ho along if the letters become too small it may be hard for me to see. I’ll have to see if I can also play on my IPad without having to start over. My apologies for such a lengthy post. Have fun with this; keep your mind sharp, share with any little ones learning to spell & discovering new words! Even young adults can benefit as this is just another fun way to keeping your brain active. I’ve learned over the years, that old saying remains true: “If you don’t use it you’ll lose it” ❣️
Increase Rewards
by Erameline on 2019/03/28 05:18
Look, I know you guys want people to buy coins, but as long as there are websites that solve anagrams you’re not getting any money from me (aside from the $3 or whatever to never show ads again— that was well worth it for my sanity). But sometimes I’m too lazy to flip over to a new browser tab, right, so I want to use some coins. The problem is that the way you earn said coins is impossibly slow, and the items you use them on are way too expensive. The solution? Add more weight to harder words. If a word announces “great!” or “excellent!” when I get it, maybe it should be worth two or three stars. Or maybe the higher the level, the more weight to the words. Not even just for the sake of coins, but maybe to let me feel like I’ve accomplished something after being 1000+ games in. Other than that, relentlessly addicting and great at making me feel like a dang idiot when my brain just refuses to cooperate. Four stars.
Addictive and frustrating
by KritterKLU on 2018/08/23 14:54
Players are given a set of letters with which they are supposed to fill in the crossword squares. There are multiple sets per level and each level gets more difficult as letters are added (level one starts with three letters, the next level four letters, and so on). It’s a good game for working your brain but at the same time is relaxing due to there not being a time limit on how long you take finishing the crossword. It’s quite addictive. My one complaint is about the “coins” rewarded. Coins are earned from creating bonus words that are not on the crossword and by finishing an entire level. They can be used to “purchase” hints, which cost 100 coins each. At the rate coins can be earned, that’s a pretty steep price. I’d like to see the coin value increase along with the difficulty level. As it is, I feel like I’m being pressured to actually spend money on virtual coins just so I can get a hint when I get stuck. I’d rather delete my “free” game than repeatedly spend real money for hints.
Could be addicting if...

I love word games and downloaded this game because of the high reviews. The game itself is a great game. Challenging, but not to the point where you want to give up. I love the backgrounds. They change with every level you advance. If I were to rate the game alone, it would probably get 4-5 stars. The developers did a great job with the game itself, but they allow way too many ads. Expect to see an ad every time you open the game and before playing a puzzle. Ads are so frequent that it is extremely difficult to keep your focus and concentration from one puzzle to the next. On the FAQ page, the developers say that it costs a lot of money to develop the game, which is why there are ads. I understand that, but I’ve never seen a game with so many ads. I could remove ads by paying $2.99, but why do that when there are other word games that have less ads and cost less to remove the ads? The developers need to come up with a better balance of game time and ads.
Addictive, But Buggy and a Power Hog
by OkiFedora on 2019/07/18 17:45
Well designed from a game-play aspect. I enjoy word puzzles and this one is great. Good tutorial to introduce you to the game and new additions as you play through levels. Two issues I have with it... First, it’s a bit buggy. I get crashes once in a while that take me out of the game. Twice (over a few hours of play) it locked up and I had to close and restart the app. It’s not too often and it recovers quickly with no loss of play. Secondly, it eats battery. Not a good app on the go if you don’t have constant power. My battery lasts all day with normal use, but while playing this game, I’m losing about 30% an hour. It might help to have an option to shut off game animations and background scenery animations, but there’s not an option currently. The ads do get annoying, but the full cost of $2.99 solves that and I’m certainly not against an app maker getting paid. If you don’t like the ads, buy the game. (Tip: wait for a pop up during the game offering a special deal to get rid of the ads and get coins. It’s a pretty good deal.) Overall, very fun and addictive game. If you’re ok with a few minor crashes once in a while, and you have a charger nearby, you’ll enjoy this. Update: after paying to remove ads, the crashing has stopped and the battery draining is a bit less. I’m assuming the ads account for both. Changing from 3 to 4 stars.
EDITED: Now 1 Star
by tamon14 on 2018/12/24 09:41
I loved this game when I first found it! It was one of the few games I have where I left the free version and chose to pay because it was so much fun. Then I updated to the latest version and it’s awful. It reminds me of the free, ad-laden one. Too many pop ups asking if you want to pay for bees, too many things that fill in letters for you, etc. It’s way too cluttered now. Give us the option to turn those off since we already paid for the game. I’m never going to pay for the bees, so at least let me disable that. It’s yet another example of them trying to “fix” something that wasn’t broken. EDIT: I came back to change my review to 1 star. It was a great game so after trying the demo I purchased it to get rid of the annoying popups. Well, after a few updates I’m getting popups again. The ads we’re just replaced with offers to buy “help”. A popup is a popup. I’m NEVER buying “Tips”, but I can’t disable that, even though it’s the PAID version. Move on to something that doesn’t keep asking for your money with popups AFTER you bought the paid version to get rid of them.
Absolutely beautiful game!
by KalosKagathos on 2018/09/30 17:31
I won’t repeat everything so many have said, except to say that, in terms of overall design and graphics, Wordscapes is truly the most aesthetically pleasing game to play. The background images are simply spectacular. I only wish—and this is my 1st suggestion—that we players could somehow copy or download them (even if it meant paying a small fee for them!). The only reason I give the game 4 stars is b/c—and this is my 2nd suggestion—I really wish the puzzles became significantly more challenging, say, at least when you reach the really high levels. (As of this writing, I’ve finished all levels.) In other words, there are some very dedicated players who will keep finishing all the levels fairly quickly as new levels are (slowly!) added, so it would help to add levels that take significantly longer to finish. Hope that makes sense. Fyi, I nonetheless see my rating as a 4.8. :-) This is a must-have word game for sure!
Fun, easy, challenging
by Momma~B on 2018/11/01 15:02
This game is relaxing, fun and just challenging enough sometimes to get your brain thinking! I like being able to keep my mind active and still relax. The challenge is nice, I figure out a new word once in a while, and really have to think about a few of these! Haha I have 5 kids, two of which are 4 years old! So, I feel like this helps keep my brain from turning into a pool of toddler words and alphabets! 5 mins here, a quick game there and I feel like I get to exercise my brain a little. I need to find more of these, maybe a nice math one too! Thanks to the person who thought of this game. Also, I love the relaxing background pictures nice touch! Sorry if there are type Os, I am writing this while trying to drink morning coffee with toddlers trying to scare me because it was Halloween last night... haha mom life!
Daily Puzzle
by Rubee Dee on 2019/07/10 12:31
Please work on the daily puzzle. It is not skill based but rather guess based. As an example, the butterfly is in the first letter of a 4 letter word. Looking at the letters it could be rear, rare, bare, bear. Again, that makes this a guessing game. It makes it highly annoying when the goal of the daily puzzle is to achieve the three stars. As for the rest of the game, I believe others have touched on the main issues. Abbreviated words or slang. Also, some bonus words are not bonus words or puzzle words. Yet are legitimate words that would be bonus or puzzle words in a different level. Finally, why do you run the word contest on the weekend? I mean, I think I know why. However, why not have challenges during the week. This game is for passing the time. Weekends are not for sitting on your phone trying to add a few coins to your collection. Overall, game is great and fun. Just needs a little love to be a bit better.
Love it, but a few discouraging bugs
by Bugs need correcting on 2019/04/27 23:11
This game is highly additive, but I must say it has a few bugs that make me put my phone down. In order to gain points you have a few choices. You can watch videos, check out offers or surveys. VERY often when I go to watch videos, I get told the videos aren’t available. And today something happened that caused me to write this review. I had watched a series of videos cause I wanted 300 points. I had about 290 points and watch another video which should have put me over 300. Instead my points went DOWN to 9. It really frustrated me. Additionally I’ve watched “offers” and after filling out page after page, and reaching the confirmation page (not sure what it’s called), I didn’t receive any points. I only used the survey once because I took the survey and the survey just kept repeating itself. I don’t even bother with surveys. The game is enjoyable and it makes me stretch my brain, now if only these bugs were fixed...
What is with the coins that can not be used?
by Reader by flashlight on 2018/01/18 07:13
Were we looking for a relaxing word play and this seemed to fit the bill until they throw spinning wheels and coins across the screen as if at a casino. They add insult by not explaining the purpose of the coins or how they may be used and when we put the app down for an hour we found that 300 "coins" were removed from the cart and the depletion continued even when we started playing again as if being punished for having lunch. Apparently this app has some opinions. Developers, please loose the coins, as they have no real purpose and remove the 1-minute long ads after every puzzle, not the series of puzzles rather 1-minute ads after a each puzzle. You shouldn't be removing coins or adding coins when they can never be used. This cheapens who you are and you need to reconsider your motives. You appear as tricksters. Loose the coins, or explain their purpose and do not remove them even if someone has to go to work.
App by non-native English speaker
by Billy574 on 2018/06/14 05:46
It’s clear that the person that developed this app isn’t a native English speaker. Many real English words are omitted, sometimes plurals, singulars, or past participles of other words that ARE accepted, or standard British spellings of the same American English words. Also, they accept words that are proper nouns, which shouldn’t be accepted in a word puzzle. As others have said, once you get to higher levels, they use very similar letter combinations as earlier levels, so it’s no longer challenging. Also, they obviously gave up on naming the levels as they repeat level names over and over. Why not go to 8 letters with a minimum of 5 letter words for higher levels? Instead you’re perpetually stuck at 6/3 or 7/4. The ads are probably only overly obnoxious if you finish levels quickly, which after playing awhile you do, so you’re forced to watch an ad every few seconds (luckily they’ve recently cut the ad times so it doesn’t take 30 seconds to watch). Great concept, poor implementation.
Annoying ads-real words not recognized
by wroxi on 2019/02/10 21:11
The ads were so frequent that I did decide to pay the $2.99 to get rid of them, as I was enjoying the game. As I neared level 700, I noticed that the same letters have been used in multiple levels which isn’t very challenging. I have also noticed that there are NUMEROUS VERY COMMON English words which are not recognized by the game. Clearly, developers, you need to go back to the drawing board. It’s very easy to find word unscrambler resources on the Internet. Why not use those to help build a larger database of words that the game will recognize? It’s VERY frustrating when you know the word is a real English word and you are not rewarded for it! Here are some examples: Ware, coir, creel, rebar, barer, scry, quire, torc, terce, lee, purl, farfel etc. etc etc.. I would not recommend this game for somebody who has a large vocabulary to begin with as it is more frustrating than challenging. Probably better for someone whose vocabulary could use strengthening.
Will NOT allow you to remove ads with in-game currency, as advertised
by natebrown11 on 2019/01/06 07:05
Upon starting the game, it is advertised that you can remove ads with 400 coins (in-game currency). These coins are rewarded to the player by completing the game’s puzzles. This offer is said to last for 24 hours. I accumulated 400 coins within 2 hours of downloading the app and after completing the puzzle that pushed my coin count over 400, the game rewarded me with an unskippable ad that would not go away on its own. This forced me to close out of the app and when I re-entered the app the ability to remove the ads with coins was removed and required a cash purchase to remove ads. The unskippable ad did not occur until the exact point that I was able to remove ads without purchase. This is obviously a pre-programmed response so players can not remove the ads without paying real money (which is fine if advertised that way, but this was not the case). This is textbook false advertising and everyone should be warned that this app producer will do the same to you. Don’t waste your time.
Ads, Bugs, and Crashes
by CAD Programmer on 2019/07/15 00:18
Way too many ads and crashes, severe lag (very bad), inaccurate finger tracking (frustrating), glitches, and incomplete dictionary resulting in valid words being rejected. I can be literally right on a letter and the app doesn’t register it. Accepted words varies from level to level, with the exact same word being valid in one puzzle but rejected in another - inconsistent! Phone gets hot while running this app and battery drains from full to zero in about 10 minutes. Crashes at least once daily and that’s no exaggeration. Ads pop up spontaneously while trying to play the game, and poorly coded finger tracking results in a recurring glitch where tapping anywhere on the screen triggers the App Store (and the app must be shut down to restore “normal” functioning, untill it glitches out again a few minutes later). Sometimes tapping the X on an ad opens the App Store instead of closing the ad. App resets/crashes whenever switching from another task, such as replying to a text, answering a call, or writing a one-star app review.....
Great but could be better
by Hojiman on 2019/06/29 15:27
It’s fun and it’s easily the biggest time sink on my phone. It’s interesting how you can get stumped, put the phone down for an hour or two, and then immediately see the answer when you go back to it. But... 1) the dictionary is my main issue as it contains all sorts of slang (eg “fro” and “tech”) but omits actual words that are more archaic (eg no “greave” for you armorers). Or the omissions are simply haphazard: it contains “Mayan” but not “Greek” — why? Considering all the work that went into this app, there little rationale behind constraining the dictionary so much. 2) it doesn’t get “harder” and it doesn’t care how hard the words are — only how many you solve. “The” and “see” count just as much as “divest” and “collage”. That’s a very simple change to make — toss a difficulty rating on each word and poof! Much more interesting game. TLDR: buy it since it’s fun. Devs: see above. Take it up a notch.
Fun but BATTERY HOG
by D Frey on 2018/01/31 12:42
Updated Review: the further you progress in this game, the more you realize that they use the same words over and over and over in these puzzles. It gets to where the puzzles that should be challenging really aren’t that hard, because you’ve memorized the whole population of words they’ve used. And they still haven’t fixed the issue with bonus/extra words. These are words that aren’t in the puzzle, but you get credit (coins) for them because they’re real words that can be formed from the given group of letters. Problem is, some real words count, and some don’t. That’s STUPID and ANNOYING. Either give credit for real words or don’t. Clearly, the reason for this is that if they give you too many coins, you won’t buy as many coins through in-app purchases. So they’ve made the game stupid in order to maximize revenue. That’s lame. ————— The game itself is great. Challenging after the early levels. It’s pretty frustrating that a lot of actual words aren’t allowed as extra words. That needs to get fixed pronto. But the biggest irritation is the battery drain this game causes. Get on that, devs. I see a lot of griping about ads. If you don’t like them, just pay for the ad free version. I did. It’s not expensive. Less than a latte or a beer, and will last you a thousand times longer.
Pop up ADs are Expensive- BEWARE!
by Smellsdelicious on 2019/08/03 13:00
This app has many in app purchases that randomly pop up. One ad that pops up ALL THE TIME is the Ultimate Bundle purchase that is about $50 dollars. One morning the Ultimate Bundle purchase popped up when my phone screen was left open to Wordscapes, I picked up my phone and accidentally enabled the purchase of it using my fingerprint id. No second confirmation required for the purchase. So my credit card was billed $56 for an in app purchase I didn’t choose to make or wanted. I contacted Wordscapes, no help there-they referred me to the Apple iTunes and App Store. Apple promptly ( in one second flat) refused to refund my money. Thankfully my credit card company is fantastic and they absorbed the loss and issued me a permanent credit on my account. Think of these pop up ads like bear traps if you have fingerprint purchasing enabled on your iPhone and beware. It happens a lot, I think, because when I was trying to get a refund one of the choices for the refund was accidentally purchased something that didn’t require confirmation.

Elegant and fun but could stand to be more rewarding
by Staticandbanal on 2017/09/20 05:11
Very lovely uncluttered layouts and short puzzle times make this a great app for de-stressing and passing time on short bus rides, standing in line, etc.
Great
by beautifullittlefool on 2018/05/26 10:02
Many words are overused for example you see words were used in multiple puzzles and far too many words that are good words- words that are not overused, are not included in the puzzles.
