Best app ever
by Agood on 2018/12/07 06:30
I never write reviews for anything, but I love this app so much I went out of my way to write this one. It does everything I want out of a GPS mountaineering app. I used to use a Garmin dedicated handheld GPS when I was out in the woods, but now I just bring my phone with this app (along with a map and a compass). Great job, keep it up.
Great app!!
by AppFan365201392 on 2018/12/02 01:57
I really like this app for hunting and hiking! I like the option to use it off-line, and it also works on my Apple Watch. I would give it five stars, but the Apple Watch app should be developed a little more.
Works like a champ
by Dog scratcher on 2018/11/30 21:49
I’ve been using Gaia for a couple of years now, both professionally and for recreation and as long as I download the correct maps it works great. In other words, the only problems I have had are my fault. I have a small GPS enabled tablet that I use it on and even with the larger screen the maps look great. I also find the ability to download my tracks and points as .kmz files very useful.
Gaia Keeps Getting Better
by AKflyer130 on 2018/11/30 16:40
In addition to using this app on hikes in my local area and abroad internationally ( 2X Camino walks/ England’s C2C ), I have used it on several volunteer projects including test site mapping locations for salmon restoration and water quality testing in WA. state. The app never fails, is consistently accurate, and new features added by the development team continue to make this my favorite hiking app.
Great App with a couple minor issues
by The Strawman on 2018/11/26 21:39
Let me start by saying I use a Premium Subscription and absolutely love this app and use it nearly daily for both work and recreation. I does so much that it has become a must for use with my fieldwork. My only complaints are the randomized coloring when importing tracks and the was area shapes are created. Using this app professionally, I often need all of my shapes to be specific colors or all one color. Often I can just quickly adjust them in the app, but when I have projects with hundreds of shapes this is no longer a viable option and is very frustrating. Simply allowing bulk adjustment would solve this problem for me. The second issue regarding creating areas is that often when I try to move the dots that adjust the area, it grabs the screen and tries to move it instead... sensitivity issue maybe? In any case, these issues are not deal breakers... I love this app and will continue to use it, but hope that these two simple things will be addressed in the future. I know I’m not the only one that would like to see this! Thanks for a great app!!!
Great hiking app
by Famaz1700 on 2018/11/25 23:59
I love that it has all the hiking trails already and it tracks my location perfectly. If I had one complaint, its that it doesn't do exercise tracking with apple watch.
Amazing app & even more amazing staff
by Search Sepp on 2018/11/25 11:59
This is just a great all around app. I volunteer for a search and rescue organization and I run this app as well as my garmin when I go on searches. I contacted the support team a couple times inquiring on certain things and they responded almost immediately. I love being able to download sections of the map, because a lot of times the places I go have little to no service. It’s nice to be able to overlay the maps to get exactly what I want (satellite over a topo). Can’t say enough about the app and the staff.
5/5

Fantastic app. Ability to download maps for hikes that are off the grid is really great.
Gaia GPS is so good I bought an iPad solely for it!
by ASDFKGS on 2018/11/16 15:12
I’ve tried a lot of GPS apps for off-road navigation and none of them impressed me. I really wanted one for detailed topo, public lands, and MVUM maps (where no cell service is available of course). I bought an iPad 9.7 for the sole purpose of using Gaia GPS Premium. I’ve downloaded all of the lower 48 states at max zoom with those three layers and it’s so nice to see all of the details of any area with airplane mode enabled. The app is well laid out, has all the options you’d want, and is a real pleasure to use on iOS. I absolutely love it.
iPhone Gaia GPS vs Garmin eTrex
by Roman Voyd on 2018/11/09 19:20
I've been collecting track data with Garmin GPS units since 2000. Until a few years ago I was reluctant to use my iPhone for this purpose, but then tried the Gaia GPS app. Although pricy, the app is great, and makes ab great alternative for track acquisition and storage. Tracks can be easily exported to Garmin mapping software. All base maps can be downloaded ahead of time when traveling in areas of low or no cell signal allowing the use of the Gaia app in these onditions. The maps on the phone are gorgeous and superior to those on my Garmin eTrex. I still use both, but not how much longer? The Gaia app is an excellent product, well worth the price.
The best!
by Wes8870 on 2018/11/04 15:16
This app and my phone replaced my garmin gps, downloading maps is easy and with the larger screen I can actually see what I want to. I’ve had no problems and the customer service was awesome when I switched from android to apple.
Now the best application for hunting
by Richard295 on 2018/11/01 15:03
For many years I used Gaia for backpacking but also had to purchase onX for hunting. Recently, with all of the hunting related overlays offered, I moved all of my old onX waypoints to Gaia. Gaia offers access to higher quality maps, more comprehensive information organization, faster response, and all of the required public/private overlays. In addition it is still without equal for backpacking. A Gaia Premium membership is required for hunting but it provides national information versus a single state’s information for a price comparable to an onX license.
Pre planning for maximum benefit!
by Altitudeseeker on 2018/10/28 15:03
Download the Area you are going to be hiking or off-roading at the detail level you need for the activity you are doing. That way if you don’t have cell service you can still use the map.
Best GPS app I’ve ever used
by RichBoulder on 2018/10/28 00:19
I no longer take topos on most hikes and climbs. Gaia lets me download a wide range of maps offline and makes navigation simple.
Great
by Kayakfisher83 on 2018/10/26 01:08
Great app. When I use my handheld gps this is my back up
Awesome!
by ClintAmmerman on 2018/10/25 23:03
Amazingly simple and in-depth tool for travel! Easily create routes to follow with waypoints of interest or look back on your track after your trip. Buy the Pro option. It’s worth every penny. Tons of awesome map overlays!

Camera options

THE BEST recreational mapping app!!!
by wdbald on 2018/10/11 05:43
This is BY FAR the best app if you like hiking, walking or driving, no matter your signal strength. Fantastic array of maps, easy and reliable offline downloads of those maps, easy tracking of routes that map your altitude, speed, everything! Include a great folder system for saved maps/routes/points and top it off with social sharing and you’ve got a whirlwind of an app. Way better than AllTrails and the 20 other Hiking apps (all of which I have put to the test). P.S. they also include a super helpful Watch app showing data, route controls and even the map with your live location which you can scroll on!
Great app
by VHChillin on 2018/10/11 02:50
I use it all the time when jeeping.
No support
by ensa25 on 2018/10/10 05:49
It’s been several hours since I signed up for membership and still couldn’t download maps. I emailed support and still no response.
Repeat to Gabe in NH, June 28 request
by Jo in Wisc on 2018/10/08 14:41
Gabe requested an alert when nearing a saved waypoint. We canoe and often need to scout upcoming rapids we’ve marked with waypoints. When we are actively paddling, stopping frequently to check progress on Gaia is difficult. Love the app but this would be a great feature to add and could significantly increase users safety. Thank you Gaia for a great app. Gaia is a great hiking app but please fix the search function. A few letters are typed in and the drop down list appears. You cannot type more letters to make that list more concise. You cannot get out of the list. You have to close Gaia and start over. For such a great app the search feature should function better. January 17 update: I appreciate the fast response from the developer providing info about the app search functions that I had previously found. But you must be in portrait mode for the search function to work correctly. Suggest either rework search function to also work in landscape mode or include that limitation in help info. Still the best hiking GPS app available
Gaia for Hunting
by Ace Rice on 2018/10/08 04:28
Love this App, it is by far the best mapping overlay app for the money, wish they would add a hunting icon selection and sometimes the aerial views they have aren't as up to date as Google world or other options so you have to switch back and forth! Those are my only complaints and I have used many GPS mapping apps!
Poor performance
by JasonAllen1234567 on 2018/10/07 17:31
I purchased the one year membership and revived nothing with it. I followed all the instructions and did trouble shooting through your website. I try to get the satellite images and it keeps trying to get me to subscribe again and again. I have heard you guys are awesome and this may just be a fluke with my phone. However I am now out $20 and apple says it is non refundable.
Awesome App! Highly recommend
by S10N1GHTMAN on 2018/10/06 22:56
Got this app the night before big hike with my friends, got it set up with login and used it throughout our entire hike. Except for on small freeze at the top of very high mountain it did not fail me at all! I am very satisfied with this app and highly recommend it to all hikers! It works beautifully and accurately (I checked) and has useful needed info, including altitude height, names of mountains on trail, time of walking and stopping, time elapsed and other nice info. Get it, esp. that its free. You won’t regret it.
Great tool!
by RocknIce on 2018/10/06 17:58
I’m an Operations Leader for a mountain rescue group and use this ALL the time. Great tool.
Great pre-planning tool
by Desertkudzu on 2018/10/06 05:33
We just finished a self guided tour in England. Before we started I marked the planned route with Gaiagps and it saved time because we didn’t have to keep referring to the maps and written route descriptions. Planning was easy since the route will snap to the trail. Each day’s plan was added to another handy feature, Folders. Font sizing keeps it from being 5 stars.
Works just about anywhere!
by ScottyG1962 on 2018/10/04 13:05
My gf and I recently vacationed in Kauai and did 5 hikes. Even without cell service the Gaia app was able to track or progress and give excellent details in each trail. I highly recommend using this app especially recording your hikes and geotagging the photos as well.

FWS fire review
by WF Fireman on 2018/10/02 22:21
Grate program very useful in fire management only issue is with the poor quality of Ariel maps . All other features are better than you would expect and have similar functionality as collecter GIS.
Best Bang for the Buck
by JeepPhoenix on 2018/10/02 13:04
I’ve tried them all on my iPad and iPhone. GAIA GPS has the best maps, map updates/transfers/overlays, the fastest speed, the best features, design, usability, and is constantly improved - further distancing its lead on the competition. It’s never crashed, is super easy to use and I’ve overspent enough money on other gps apps to know GAIA is the best (and as a bonus kinda cheap too). My wife and I use it for jeeping. I wish we could also explore the single tracks with GAIA but our jeep is her wheelchair. GAIA is my insurance to helping her enjoy the outdoors. Thank you GAIA. I got a bargain. I would have paid 10x easily.
Difficult to download Sat maps
by Tjhva on 2018/10/02 12:10
Extremely difficult & complex to download satellite map data. For instance, I want the Sat map for all of Baja. But there is a limit on how much data you’re allowed to download and you have to draw a box that’s way bigger than Baja itself. So you have to make hundreds of little boxes and then choose how much detail you want with a slider. The trouble is you really just need all of the data but they are making it complex to get on your phone.
Outstanding
by mhill2510 on 2018/10/01 17:02
I’m a member of the Virginia Master Naturalists and several of us have been using this App for our field work. It has been particularly valuable for our Smithsonian Wildlife Camera trappings. Placing these camera “off the trail” has seen some dense bushwhacking. GAIA has made deployments and retrieval smooth.
Love this app.
by dhjyrgdehj on 2018/10/01 13:28
We use Gaia for trail and off trail hiking in many remote areas. The way Point feature is awesome for tagging POI.
Greatest GPS App out there

Great for locating property boundaries
by MTB Atlanta.com on 2018/09/29 23:06
I help to build mountain bike trails and we used to spend weeks researching and trying to locate park boundaries. Now with this app we show up and know where the layout. Great resource! Highly recommended. I also love the National Geographic Trails Illustrated maps.

Could not be happier with Gaia app! I use it all the time, tracking many outdoor activities.
Full membership is worth it
by that_ranger on 2018/09/28 20:40
I’m amazed at the things I’ve done with this app and the map resources available. Anyone from Recreation to Real Estate could use this app
High quality offline maps and good interface
by _levid on 2018/09/28 15:51
I use this extensively for backcountry running and hiking. Makes a great (perhaps better) replacement for offline Google Maps for those folks who are eager to ditch Google over privacy concerns. Thanks, Trailbehind!
Exactly What I Was Looking For
by Finnbar22 on 2018/09/28 05:19
Simple design. Easy to use. GPS tracking worked flawlessly. Minimal battery loss. Exactly what I was looking for.

Just got back from off road Colorado motorcycle trip and Gaia worked great. Very user friendly. Used an iPhone in airplane mode and never had an issue
AMAZING
by Sanji8 on 2018/09/27 16:11
Absolutely the best mapping AP I’ve used. Recently recorded some trails in Northern Minnesota and it didn’t miss a beat. Love all the different overlay options... just takes some time to find your favorite set up with all the options! Worth the money by far...
Hands down my favorite
by Scooter 65 on 2018/09/27 15:33
Reliable, functional and easy to use. I have used it to help friends in falconry, for hiking, fishing and bow hunting. Has never let me down.
Yosemite
by Frgsn333 on 2018/09/27 14:44
Love the app! Did 15 miles over glacier point at Yosemite last weekend, and Gaia kept us off a couple wrong turns. There is a peace of mind when you can see ‘only a mile to water’! Storing offline maps is key.
Incredible App
by PeachMac16 on 2018/09/27 05:38
Gaia is an incredible app. I gladly pay for the premium, and don’t go backpacking without it. It has really made navigating in the wilderness easy, even when the trail is obscured.
Navigation wonder
by OldManDooley on 2018/09/27 02:08
What a great tool for traveling in the woods. The hunting overlay combined with topography and satellite imaging is invaluable in locating places you want to investigate.

i love this app but downloading maps is confusing and a pain.
Mediocre
by tahoe_rob on 2018/09/25 06:14
Having worked with several desktop mapping applications, Gaia is a massive downgrade. A few examples: I have drawn several routes that I cannot edit for some reason. No matter what I do I cannot add route points. On the desktop I could simply cut the route, add a new segment and merge. Easy. Not so with Gaia. I finally just gave up and redrew the routes. The snap-to-trail feature is nice but doesn’t work reliably. The Gaia Topo map layer is hard to read and, worse, inaccurate. I sent a route to a friend and we were discussing it on the phone. I kept referencing a lake to the west of a peak and he kept saying he didn’t see a lake. I finally figured out that he was using the Gaia Topo layer and I was using USGS Topo. When I looked at Gaia, not only was the lake in question missing, but so were many others in the area. Drawing a route segment over an existing route segment is wonky. I have a loop I’m mapping and the trail in and out is the same but when I try to draw the out segment over the in segment, Gaia doesn’t like that. I am able to draw the out segment next to in segment and then move the route points so that the out segment is accurate. However I suspect this is creating the editing issues referenced above as these routes with overlapping segments happen to be the ones I can’t edit. I could go on, but you get the idea. I’m going back to desktop software. Im sure Gaia is fine for light use and those with very simple needs. After trying it for a few weeks, I can’t be bothered to continue. I need stable software that’s easy to use and so far Gaia fails on both fronts.
Don’t try this app

Their description about what you receive for subscription levels is too unclear.
The best map application I’ve found
by ddrazen on 2018/09/21 12:25
This is my first “detailed” online review ever, for any product. The closest I’ve come is giving something a few stars, but never in detail. I’ve always been the end user of reviews, but this app is well worth the time to share. I’m a bit of a map fanboy. I’ve always loved them and currently have 7 map apps installed on my phone. I often wonder why, when I always end up using Gaia GPS. The interface takes a little bit of time to get used to, but the power of the tool is well worth it. I’m continuously finding new features of the app and I love all the different options. I haven’t found any other application that can do something Gaia can’t. I can’t recommend it enough, you will not be disappointed!
Extremely Useful, Full-Function GPS
by Metrician88 on 2018/09/19 19:40
Gaia GPS is the best! I use it for my work, which is guiding backcountry treks in South America. It’s usually difficult/impossible to find reliable printed maps for the places I guide, so Gaia has become my go-to source for international maps. The maps are detailed and accurate. I use it for all my personal trips in the U.S., too. It provides everything I need in a GPS.
Missing information in maps
by bemarcopolo on 2018/09/18 16:44
Gaia topomaps do not show some lakes in the Sierras (eg Lake Margorie, although I was told that this particular example had been fixed after I posted this review) and contains inaccuracies (eg locations of camping areas in Paradise Valley in Kings Canyon NP). I recommend downloading USGS topomaps in addition to Gaia maps if you will be traveling offline.
Love the app but could use improvements
by Rplopez13 on 2018/09/15 03:09
I love the app. The only thing that drives me crazy is that you can’t customize u it’s of measure by what you are measuring. I really like having my units of measure for distance being metric, but would prefer to have my altitudes read in feet
This app is so sweet it shows all old sights and current as well love it to
by Fien casino on 2018/09/14 11:18
2thumbs up on this one it keeps me up to date as well as takes me back in time all historical sights
Lost my menus
by blweldy on 2018/09/11 00:08

Best by far...still
by americasbeaches on 2018/09/09 16:38
This has been my backcountry navigation app for years in the Rockies. More and more friends of mine are using it now and although we all try other ones, this is still the gold standard for me. The ability to turn it on and see where I am on both the USGS 7.5 min map and a satellite image, with blending of the two images, is awesome! That is a Premium tool... well worth it. I use it for both on trail and off trail navigation and planning to find and get to high country meadow fishing spots. (Also, they finally got the detailed NOAA chart of upper Mobile Bay, where I boat, on the premium so now I’m using it more in my boat. Thanks)

Not sure if this is going to work to supplement my handheld mapping GPS yet. I need t be able to download offline maps, which requires a subscription. Fine. But after committing to the $20, the app still says I need to sign up. Not cool.
One time, to every year

Best GPS app
by Giants 08 on 2018/08/30 16:49
This is without a doubt the best GPS software on the App Store. Been using it for a year and is great for hiking and mapping routes for 4 wheeling runs. The route creation feature is a extremely useful tool. A+
Love it
by ossidog on 2018/08/22 16:23

Perfect mapping system
by Rabid Yeti on 2018/08/22 09:20
I use this gps system because it has great overlays and I can color code waypoints! I don’t know why I would need a handheld gps especially with the ability to save maps with layers on it! I had both trials of Gaia and OnX going at once and for the price, you can’t beat Gaia! As a hunter, fisherman, and hiker, I don’t see much difference between the two with the exception of price! The value of this product is amazing. Get it you won’t be sorry!
Unreadable
by 'dude' on 2018/08/20 07:23
The free base map is purposefully unreadable, so that you must spend money to actually use it. Roads are single pixel wide lines indiscernible from other featured.
Expensive then you have to pay more👎🏾
by capitlists on 2018/08/17 05:22
Really $20 for the app and then another $20 to download maps or even get topo maps when you have WiFi or LTE! Lame. The original version was $20 and then you had full access. I feel ripped off
Ruined by greed
by LongEars on 2018/08/16 01:09
A fine hiking program now very expensive. An expensive membership requires auto renewal to download. So you will pay forever unless you pay attention. If you download the ‘free’ version, the membership instructions about canceling auto renew only 24 hrs before end were misleading.
Beware
by Respectfully on 2018/08/15 00:00
Owned this app once before. Yet after paying good money($19.99) the developer decided to create a new app. Twenty dollars wasted. Could this happen to you?? Time will tell. Subscriptions and accounts no thank you.
I want my money back
by Verified.customer on 2018/08/14 17:48
I purchased the Gaia gps app a few years ago for $20 and have used it for dozens of hikes. It works OK but I’ve had some issues downloading maps (the maps didn’t download all the detail levels). My real gripe has to do with the company. Gaia has since changed to a subscription-based billing model and I no longer have the capabilities I initially paid for (i.e. map downloads). This is just bad business. I’m extremely disappointed in the company and product and want my money back.
No idea which is paid version
by stp2112 on 2018/08/14 01:51
This is yet another in a long line of apps where you go to re-download for whatever reason and no way of telling the free from the paid version extremely annoying make it obvious for those of us who have paid for an application PLEASE

Simple and flexible
by Oldlodo on 2018/08/12 18:01
I have tried so many and have finally found Gaia to be the go-to for me. I load a lot of GPX files and it’s just an easy tool to use. Also use it on all three platforms: Android, IOS and the Web - incredibly convenient. Map sources have also been a great help. Recommended!
Not user friendly at all.
by Candycanejane31 on 2018/08/11 18:04
Not user friendly. Just wanted to plan a route and I’m really not loving it. Really would like my money back as I just downloaded today and haven’t used.
Go to app for all hikes
by MicheleB1 on 2018/08/10 14:58
Just finished a PCT section and Gaia was usual reliable self. Using some other apps as well would be nice if Gaia did miles and elevation to go to an upcoming point. Used combination with Guthook, Halfmile and Gaia apps.
Best gps I have used
by tehcampbell on 2018/08/08 00:42
Not military grade from what I understand but as good or much better than what I have used from Garmin and DeLorme and other apps. Ease of UX/UI may mean it’s not for those most Technicial mortals, but it works for me.
GAIA Review
by bdub2422 on 2018/08/07 16:48
I’ve been using GAIA for a few months now. Just got back from a two week trip to Colorado. I love being able to create different areas so I can make sure I don’t get lost. It’s also very cool to save coordinates to good campsites and other landmarks. Tracking my whole trip was fantastic as well. Definitely recommend.
Great app

I really like the app, but it crashes often in edit mode.
Great alternative to expensive dedicated device
by M_J_S on 2018/08/05 19:55
It takes a little getting used to but Gaia has become indispensable to me. Making sure I download maps before I leave reception and taking an extra battery (though it’s very conservative on its use I find) I can hike in confidence. Even on supposedly well-marked trails I use it to avoid the ‘did we just miss a turn or what’ problem. Good for tracking progress in terms of distance and altitude gained. Used extensively in back country for peace of mind to get back to original starting point. For a few dollars it’s worth every penny.
The Best

This is the easiest most reliable gps app I have found. I use it for hunting and it is great.
Offline and online
by Mega Jew bear on 2018/08/05 06:16
Great functioning app. Like it that I can record my tracks while I hike. Route planning and tracking works great. Does not consume much battery on iPhone while the app is running. This is great when I am out doing multi day hikes. Maybe an area to improve would be mike markers does not seem to be accurate when mike markers option is turned on.
Can’t say enough good things!
by Smizzyjunk on 2018/08/05 02:02
I love the offline mode and I love that I can use this app on my iPad Pro. The National Geographic maps are where it’s at!
Love it!
by sa_67 on 2018/08/04 19:47
Have only used this for a few hikes, but love it so far. Helped keep me on the trail while backpacking in NM. Paid for the subscription service, which allows you to download maps when there’s no internet service. You can record the hike & see where you have been. Won’t hike without it anymore.
Handy tool
by tomagain748 on 2018/08/03 01:18
I’ve never been a fan of handheld GPS units, but I find GaiaGPS super handy for cross country travel
Awesome mapping
by Waynesbald on 2018/08/02 13:35
I love the maps and being able to track my progress on a hike. It’s been more than worth the $ I payed.
Works well at Disney

This is also a great tool to use at theme parks. This app sits on my iPhone first page ( the prime real estate at bottom center: right under my thumb)
Best hiking maps and data
by GrayUgly on 2018/08/02 01:52
There are several map apps I’ve tried and keep coming back to Gaia. A very complete and easy to use interface. The number of hiking trails displayed can’t be beat.

Go To App For Long Distance Hiking

I’ve hiked the PCT, AZT, CT, and now on the CDT and have used Gaia GPS for all of them. Would not leave home without it. Must have app for trekking.
Great app but learning curve
by Cuykay on 2018/08/01 13:29
I’m finally learning how to make use f more features. The app has so many it has a bit of a learning curve. I use to plot courses and check waypoints, even if off trail. So I never feel lost. Good for an old lady.
Simply the Best!

Reliable, intuitive and packed with features for every type of backcountry adventure.
Best GPS
by Dizznang on 2018/08/01 04:19
Love this app. I download my maps before hitting the backcountry. No worries with no signal. Saved my butt when I took a wrong turn. What would be cool is if I could have family or friends download the app so they can follow my progress I’m real time when I’m out there for multiple days. Every time I check in at a ranger station, they ask about what I have as far as maps or gps. I say Gaia and they say, ok, you’re good.
excellent support

Great app

Great tool!

Outstanding

I’m a member of the Virginia Master Naturalists and several of us have been using this App for our field work. It has been particularly valuable for our Smithsonian Wildlife Camera trappings. Placing these camera “off the trail” has seen some dense bushwhacking. GAIA has made deployments and retrieval smooth.
Love this app.

Great app

Outstanding

I’m a member of the Virginia Master Naturalists and several of us have been using this App for our field work. It has been particularly valuable for our Smithsonian Wildlife Camera trappings. Placing these camera “off the trail” has seen some dense bushwhacking. GAIA has made deployments and retrieval smooth.
Love this app.

High quality offline maps and good interface
by _levid on 2018/09/28 15:51

by Frgsn333 on 2018/09/27 14:44
Love the app!

Mediocre
by tahoe_rob on 2018/09/25 06:14
Having worked with several desktop mapping applications, Gaia is a massive downgrade.

Thanks)

I want my money back
by Verified.customer on 2018/08/14 17:48
I purchased the Gaia gps app a few years ago for $20 and have used it for dozens of hikes. It works OK but I’ve had some issues downloading maps (the maps didn’t download all the detail levels). My real gripe has to do with the company. Gaia has since changed to a subscription-based billing model and I no longer have the capabilities I initially paid for (i.e. map downloads). This is just bad business. I’m extremely disappointed in the company and product and want my money back.
No idea which is paid version

GAIA Review
by bdub2422 on 2018/08/07 16:48
I’ve been using GAIA for a few months now. Just got back from a two week trip to Colorado. I love being able to create different areas so I can make sure I don’t get lost. It’s also very cool to save coordinates to good campsites and other landmarks. Tracking my whole trip was fantastic as well. Definitely recommend.

Works well at Disney
by MrKefo on 2018/08/02 10:30
This is also a great tool to use at theme parks.
Take a hike

Great in everything you could want in an outdoor app I enjoy using this mostly for downloading maps very little cell service in my area. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do
Go To App For Long Distance Hiking
by SlowBrother on 2018/08/01 14:15
I’ve hiked the PCT, AZT, CT, and now on the CDT and have used Gaia GPS for all of them.
Simply the Best!
by lizzy4j on 2018/08/01 04:46
Reliable, intuitive and packed with features for every type of backcountry adventure.
Best GPS
by Dizznang on 2018/08/01 04:19
Love this app.

Great for locating property boundaries
by MTB Atlanta.com on 2018/09/29 23:06

High quality offline maps and good interface
by _levid on 2018/09/28 15:51
I use this extensively for backcountry running and hiking. Makes a great (perhaps better) replacement for offline Google Maps for those folks who are eager to ditch Google over privacy concerns. Thanks, Trailbehind!
Exactly What I Was Looking For

Absolutely the best mapping AP I’ve used. Recently recorded some trails in Northern Minnesota and it didn’t miss a beat. Love all the different overlay options... just takes some time to find your favorite set up with all the options! Worth the money by far...
