Nice game
Not what it seems
by Egs1910 on 2019/04/24 22:52
This game is not the what the advertising makes it seem like. This is not picking which tool to fix a problem but decorating and renovating a house.
Sorry to say but I’m Deleting!
by Halbuggie rug on 2019/04/24 22:29
I really like this game I enjoyed the puzzle and playing with my group but it costs real money to beat the levels. You get a small amount of coins ($50-100) for each level you beat if you win. If not you will not have earned enough for extra turns or power ups if needed. I have spent three day on one level with no coins (because I kept losing) and I refuse to buy anymore. Extra turns are 900 and the power up start at 900 and go up from there. I have paid almost $100. to play this game so far and only had it two and Half weeks, I’m on level 350. And that too much money spent so goodbye!!
Ad is false advertising
by Braxxis06 on 2019/04/24 22:21
Look, I love this game. Been playing for a long time now. But I play another game that gives free currency by watching ads and the Homescapes ad I keep seeing is blatant false advertising. They show completely different gameplay that isn’t even available or a part of the actual game and it’s shameful. I don’t know what the purpose of misleading people is, but it disgusts me to the point that I had to give low stars for the review. So disappointing.
2758
by Mad at rating on 2019/04/24 22:12
Level 2758 in Homescapes is a very hard level. Please note that when you google how do i beat level 2758 in homescapes, you will find no video on it. So this tells me many people are stumped/ stuck on this level & no one has yet to win this level.

It’s one of those games that you really really hate but you keep playing. I love it.
This game is amazing
by vullkat on 2019/04/24 21:55
I’ve played many games and so far this one was the best. When you play it it’s like you are fixing your home home which is cool. Also, it is two games in one which is extremely fun usually I would have to play separate games but this game, I get to play two in one so I don’t have to switch to a different game Also, when you play the character talks to you like you are there which also makes it really fun. I got my friend to play and when ever we hang out I see her playing it which she hates games like it but she loves it so much. I got tons of my family to play and they love it. I totally recommend this game.
Can’t get past level 20
by gnrjhfhgb on 2019/04/24 21:49
At first I loved the game and I was doing really good at it and then I got to level 20 and then it was impossible to pass it and I am still trying. If you want to download it then it is just pointless.🤨
Some of the tasks are a little pointless
by Rosalia K on 2019/04/24 21:37
It is a little frustrating to have to spend 2 or 3 stars to make a phone call. It makes things a little tedious in my opinion. But other than that the game is quite good.

I have spent hours, days, weeks playing this game. I'm losing friends, my parents don't love me anymore, I am failing school, all because of this game. I am clinically addicted to homescapes but still recommend it to anybody. It's 6 stars for me. Got to go back to playing !!!!
Nothing like the Ads
by mydadhatesme on 2019/04/24 20:55
Constant ads about a matching game that is nothing like this one. Completely dissatisfied
The stupid ads
by iluvtomholland on 2019/04/24 20:47
Okay so I like this game and everything like that, but the ad shows you something completely different, it shows you fixing a kitchen and you have to find the right things and that’s not what the game is like, so if your going to download this game because of the ad prepare for something different.

by Kory The Great on 2019/04/24 20:03
I enjoyed this game but the add is false advertisement, and I thought I would really like the thing I saw on the add so maybe a update would be good so like in the update it would have like a mini game or something like the add
Why did I bother?? Just a garbage money pit.
by MoneyBackWanted on 2019/04/24 20:03
This is about the most obnoxious game ever. Being hounded via relentless ads on another game, I decided to give it a try. It is NOTHING like the ad video shows and VERY frustrating that you have little to no control over your tasks/activities. There is even less of any chance of success unless you're willing to spend BIG $$. I am not. Uninstalling it.

by The whalemobile on 2019/04/24 19:39
I am stuck on a level and I think you should make “skip level” things that you can buy. Other than that, it’s a pretty good game😐

Boring
by MarmarDup on 2019/04/24 18:16
Not sure what they hype is. Repetitive game play. Beat the levels, gain a star, “feed the cat”. I thought this was a game for redecorating a home, not taking care of the cat, or helping out a friend. Stars are hard to acquire, levels are boring and sometimes too difficult. You only get 5 lives. Just not worth my time

I enjoy the game but there is a limit of floor plans and wall paper. The furniture is another thing. Wish I could change it all. The red carpet is great for the stairs or better yet oak stairs.

What fun but more matching...

Isn’t the game that was advertised?
by Kets05 on 2019/04/24 17:01
Downloaded the game finally after having to watch so many ad’s on it. I hate that you have to complete one of those stupid color matching games to earn 1 star to do something. This game is very slow and got sick of it a few a hours after downloading it. I was expecting the game that was advertised when i downloaded it.

by mad222222 on 2019/04/24 15:32
At first the game was fun then I realized there is a challenge for every little thing. Looking for the cat getting the bird back in his cage. Not enough stars to get what I need done not to mention I’m still in the main room. when do I get to access the rest of the house I’m too busy doing stupid meaningless challenges

by kingbloxser on 2019/04/24 15:06
Very good game however very cliche and predictable. Me and my brother joke about Austin’s breaking touch. Also it would be nice if you made Some tasks free such as sleeping or opening a door. Thanks for the great game.

Relaxing and colorful. A break from the word games that can be taxing and weeds in flowers which I have in my own yard !
Money Hungry
by Ryooner on 2019/04/24 14:36
A lot of people can’t pass level 24 because of the limited moves and the crazy requirements. You either buy more coins (which costs real money if you used your previous coins on this level), or you need to buy power ups to pass this level, which again, if you don’t have coins to buy them, you’ll have to spend real money on it. I thought that in app purchase was optional, but it seems like in order to make a progress in the game, you need to spend money. I wish there was a more straightforward note that said this upfront before downloading and playing the game. Other than that, good plot. Deleting the game, though. False advertising is not cool.
Love the challenges!

By far the best of these puzzle games. The challenges are appropriately difficult and the characters and bonuses are fun.

by Edelini on 2019/04/24 14:08
I saw an add for this game on another game. It claimed that in the game you are given a list of tools to fix things in a room and of you use the wrong thing bad things happen. THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS GAME IS! When I clicked to get more info it kept with the fake info until I installed it. This game is match 3 to make money to make purchases to fix up some rundown house.

by NotTheRightGame on 2019/04/24 12:09
This game pops up a lot while playing other games. The game it shows in the commercials is not the game you get. This is basically candy crush, not the fix your house up with the items you have game that it shows. I don’t understand how games can do this, isn’t illegal to show an entirely different game than what it actually is? Very disappointing

Great game
To make reasonable progress it costs $
by Kirstylooloo on 2019/04/24 11:47
I have been playing, and the game is really well done and fun. My concern is how there is a mismatch between rewards and the cost of playing the game. I don’t have the patience to come back to the game every couple of hours to try a hard level or pay real money for coins. For me the last straw was that I waited to the safe that I filled. It had 12000 coins and a five day wait. I could have gotten it for $5. After that time I didn’t get the contents for the safe like other games. Instead it disappeared. I am ok with game developers getting paid and I have paid for a few coins. However, this is unreasonable and greedy. I will delete the game.

by twoarmscollin on 2019/04/24 08:58
Game is fun, story is charming, as are the characters. Music is awesome!!!! Seriously some of the best produced and mastered music I’ve heard in a game. The hints though while I’m trying to play, so annoying and distracting!! Hello, I like to take my time and plan my move, and these hints mess that up, they are persistent and this is not on accident. Unfortunately since there’s no option to turn them off gameplay is too frustrating to enjoy and I’m just going to delete the app. Too bad because otherwise it’s great.

by biggermamaC on 2019/04/24 07:41
Loved playing the game! But then I got to about level 300 and they proceeded to have me transform the garden and greenhouse! This one is called Homescapes for a reason you’re supposed to be doing the house! There’s also a version called Gardenscapes where you’re taking care of the garden! I’m very disappointed that it moved me from the house to the garden in the version that is supposed to be for the house! If it wasn’t for that I would give it a 4.5! But I’m going to give it a 2 🤯🤬😡
Another game with false ads.

by hinako_sensei on 2019/04/24 04:09
Fun game, but when I need to spend a huge amount of money to get beyond a certain point, I lose interest. Why isn’t there a way to earn coins without spending real money? Like, A LOT of real money. I refuse to play a game that purposefully puts money over game enjoyment. Why can’t we just purchase outright and have other ways of moving forward?

It’s fun but some levels are super hard
Levels are soooo hard after the intro ones
by lobstersorter on 2019/04/24 02:42
Levels are too hard after you get past the start of the game, and spending money on boosters is just a waste because they can’t help you. It’s frustrating. Candy Crush is still better because you have to pass a level in this game to get ONE star...no stars no “decorating” and some decorations cost six stars or more. You can’t get the next decorations until you finish the ones already assigned. So, you wind up playing the same level ad nauseum with no possibility of making progress.

by wolf_of_terror on 2019/04/24 00:50
The reason is it makes you leave the game and forget all about then a month or so later you come back and repeat... So I’m saying that The lives I don’t like but the games is rigged level 28 I CANT GET PAST IT IVE WASTED ALL MY BOOSTERS AND IN GAME MONEY ON IT and I’ve wasted a infinite lives boost on it and at least 25 LIVES it’s a rigged level!!! though I like it others wise (It’s also addicting)

More bad than good
by ReViWeR✌🏽 on 2019/04/24 00:21
This game is pretty cool, but it also has it’s multiple down sides. Like one of the reviews say, you have to play a long, and sometimes hard games for a single star, but you need 3 of those to just do something like open a chest, but then you need 3 more to see what's in the chest. I didn’t mind at first, but, it got annoying once it started making me give away stars to talk to someone who wasn’t even important to the storyline or to the game. Another thing is the fake advertisements. It the ads it shows you trying to drag items to broken things and trying to fix them, but in the real game you only do something like Sugar Crush. I honestly would get it again if it was actually like it was in the ads. If you're a patient person unlike me, you should totally get this app. It's still fun but I was only able to play it for awhile.
So addicting

Inappropriate Ads
by The cool kid! The awesome kid! on 2019/04/23 23:37
This game was fun and I used to have it but I now I don’t. Another BIG problem with the game is ADS. Games like word stories or escape room have fake ads but this game is the Same problem. First,IM NOT A FREAKIN GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next,The game haves fake Ads. Last,Inappropriate ad.today I was playing Angry Birds RIO and a rewards for 40 free coins. I thought it was going to be a fake ad or a awesome game but NOPE. It’s was this!!!! 😡 I was stuck watching a ad for like 15 to 30 seconds and it was inappropriate. The hand in the ads drowned. I’m sorry WHAT?! Every ad with a hand is stupid or dumb due to the know that they spell a word wrong. Or match a thing with the thing. (Same thing in the ad) And Did not save the house. In conclusion, please remove this ad or just update the game with no fake ads!
Rigged.
by Megie** on 2019/04/23 23:16
Starts out fun but then you must use boosters to advance past levels. After 15 attempts to advance beyond a fairly low level without success....I’m out. I enjoy a challenge but hate a rigged game.
Ripoff
by Suzem50 on 2019/04/23 23:00
This game is a huge ripoff! While I love the game, they have designed it so you can’t possibly win unless you spend coins that rapidly deplete, and then you are forced to use real money to continue. I love the game, but I am not going to allow it to take any more of my money.

Not the game that is advertised
by whippedhusband on 2019/04/23 22:07
The ads for this game show a series of repairs to be made, and the user chooses which tool to use for each repair. That is not even remotely what this game is. It’s effectively candy crush, and every time you beat a puzzle you get to upgrade some thing in the house, except the upgrades happen few and far between as most of the time is spent trying to solve puzzles. The game is very obviously designed to make the player impatient enough to buy power ups to get to the next level. Nothing about this game matches the ads for it.
New type of Clickbait ads.
by Problems since update on 2019/04/23 21:42
Like every other review on this game, You get an ad that shows a damaged room that you need to repair by matching tools with a broken object. So one day I actually got very interested on getting the game. I was sad to see what was advertised didn’t show up. It was quite fun at first but when I reached level 14, I got stuck. I am thinking of getting rid of the game soon since the ads are basically clickbait.
What’s with the ads?
by greenpanda4 on 2019/04/23 21:34
I downloaded this game because of an ad I saw for it. The ad was of a wrecked room and the player had to use different tools to fix the room. It looked like a lot of fun, so I downloaded Homescapes. Now I’m on level 28 and there has been nothing like what I saw in the ad. To people who are farther along in the game: Will there ever be??? (Overall, the actual game is fun, I guess. It moves way too slowly for my comfort and the levels are getting really hard; I’ve wasted about 10 lives on freaking level 28 and am getting nowhere.)

I’ve never been one to play these kind of match games, a friend just kind of bugged and bugged me to try it so I downloaded it and like for the first couple levels I thought “why am I doing this?” but when I actually got to lay down furniture and see the parents react to it, it was actually really satisfying! And the options they let you choose from are neat. Now I want to see the whole house become beautiful and upgraded. Of course, since I never play these games I am really bad at beating levels, I think I’ve been playing for 4 days and I’m only on level 30ish. But I’ve already redecorated the bedroom and the living room and it looks totally different from when I started! Now a couple things I don’t particularly like. I don’t know if this changes with progression, but only having 5 hearts to beat levels and then waiting 30 minutes for them to come back is a bit of a let down, especially since I’m really bad at beating levels. And when I get a gift of having unlimited hearts for 30 minutes, sometimes I’m not somewhere where I can take advantage of that! Like if I was playing at work on a short break and I get that, I have no control over it so I usually miss out. So if they gave it to you as a “use when you want to” kind of gift that would be most beneficial. Overall though the game is really fun! Hope you liked reading my novel!
Fun, BUT...
by Momma1965 on 2018/06/30 05:40
Like other players, I really enjoy the game. However, there is a huge disparity between the coins and stars you win and the coins and stars you have to spend. For example, stars are used to complete tasks. BUT, you only get ONE star per level you beat and tasks like fixing a fountain can cost up to a DOZEN stars to complete, so it takes forever to move forward in the game. And some of the tasks are just stupid. Calling someone is 1 star, having them come look at the problem is another, then fixing the issue can be 6 more, but then something goes wrong and you have to complete another task before you can finish the first one! As far as coins go, you win 50 per regular level and 100 per hard level you beat, with each leftover move, bomb, rocket and airplane giving you one to two extra coins. Now, if you need one or two extra moves to win a level, it will cost you 900 coins for five moves. That’s 180 coins per move. If you win in two moves, you’ll get 3-6 coins back on the unused moves that you just paid 540 coins for. You can’t get much more unfair than that! They also have lots of “Groundhog Day” levels that you’ll either have to play until you just want to delete the game altogether, you’ll eventually have things hit just perfectly so you win or you give up and spend real cash on coin packs. Playrix has great games but they need to get more player friendly and less money hungry or they’ll go the way of YoVille and lots of other great game developers.
Fun game
by Jls338 on 2018/03/27 15:05
I really enjoy playing this game. It has a lot of fun aspects to it. There are just a few reasons I didn’t give it five stars. First, it frequently feels like using power ups is a waste. Whenever I choose to use one, it almost always seems like they have set the game up against me. I usually play a level several times before deciding to use a power up, and it seems like more often than not, when I do use a power up, they choose to place the power up on the game board in some of the most inconvenient, useless spots. Second, combo moves don’t work like I think they should. Whenever I set up a move that has a chain reaction of multiple moves, the moves don’t effect obstacles next to them more than once. For example, if I have a chain reaction of even just two that are created against a box that takes more than one move to remove, only the first move effects the box, rather than both of them. (That is kind of hard to explain without showing an example...). Third, the rewards you get for playing each day reset every seven days instead of just accumulating and getting better. Fourth, it costs way too many coins for things (adding extra moves at the end of a level, power ups, etc.) in comparison to how many they give you for completing levels. It really is a fun game, and I definitely don’t expect every level to be easy to win, those are just a few of the complaints I have.
Fun but way too costly
by sissirose on 2018/08/23 06:25
This is a very enjoyable game. I’ve only been playing a few weeks, but I am in awe at the audacity of the developers expectations of the gamers to obviously spend real money to advance in the game at a reasonable rate of time. At first the levels were fairly easy to beat so it hooked me in immediately. I love the monologue with the characters, it really is entertaining and I look forward to the next task each time. However, as you get higher in the levels, the harder they get and your lucky if you beat them the first try. Yes, you have boosters, but you can run out of them before you know it, then you end up replaying the hard levels over and over and over again...UNLESS you want to fork over 900 coins for 5 extra moves which you still might not finish in, and if you’re fed up with playing it humpteen thousand times and want to get it over with you fork over 1200 coins for 5 more moves and believe it or not the next five moves cost 2000 coins, and so on and so forth!! Ridiculous!! In order for you to have those coins in your bank to begin with you have to EARN them from beating levels...at 50 to 60 a pop per level. Does this compute people??? Ratio problems much?? Otherwise you have to BUY coins...yes, spend real cash dollars to play to advance in the game. COME ON!!! I REALLY like this game and would Iove to continue playing it, but unless you change this crazy one sided coin issue this girl is gonna have to say adios. It’s a sad shame too.
Fun, but you reach a point of diminishing returns
by MdownesB on 2018/04/10 21:11
I actually really enjoy this game, but I find myself more and frustrated as I’ve gotten to the 500+ levels. I would occasionally spend some actually money to get some extra turns or boosts, but you get to a point where you can buy extra lives and use up all your boosters and you’re still stuck on the same level until you essentially get lucky with how the pieces fall and end up with enough bombs/rockets/etc to finally beat the level. I’ve found this to be especially true at 600+, with every level feeling like a “hard level” in that you don’t benefit from playing the level a few times, losing but getting to know the dynamics of that particular level and getting closer to winning each go around; it literally feels like it takes dumb luck to win. I don’t spend money on this game anymore because the extra 5 lives don’t feel worth it when you’re just going to lose over and over - might as well wait until the lives have replenished and not spend money only to be frustrated. Also, I was excited when they started the little side game like in gardenscapes, but it has been far far too difficult to even bother. This week’s first couple levels make much more sense as far as difficulty level for the first two levels of a side game, but then you can hit a wall at three with no chance of completing all eight levels without having to spend money; pretty disappointing.
Austin is the only man i care about
by kwailin on 2019/02/24 06:01
I used to make fun of my mom for being so into cookie crush but now i understand. I love so many things about this game. The art style is beautifully consistent and almost gives me a modernized “Virtual Villagers” feel. The puzzle animations are fun and satisfying (even the hint animations are great) the colors of the puzzle pieces are vibrant but not so much that they hurt your eyes and the color combinations of objects (those presents that turn into explodables) are always fresh and complementary. The textures of the things like the pink jelly and the ice cubes are really well done. The character stories are funny and charming and i would die for austin and his parents. Most mobile games I don’t end up playing for more than a month or so because i lose interest. I’ve been playing this game for a solid year and a half i think? I’m only on level 372 or something like that, though, because i did take a bit of a break and got into animal crossing. They have a fun interactive twitter too and i actually won a prize for answering a puzzle question right. I’ve never won any of those things and it just made me happy that their social media stuff worked because I’ve been on a communications team before and know how hard it can be to manage all these projects. So 5 stars all around, this game deserves all the awards 🙌🏽
I like it, but....
by Adelaine Celest on 2018/08/06 12:44
I really like the game, it’s fun and entertaining. Totally one of my favorite games right now. I was tired of all my games, but when I saw an add on this game, I downloaded it and wow....No bad opinions, but the only thing is that I really don’t like when games have lives and you have to wait certain amount of time to get lives. For example I was playing the game, but I couldn’t pass a level, I spent all my lives and had to wait 20 minutes to play it again, but since it was a hard level I just kept spending my lives without passing this level. And there is an option that you can buy some moves for certain amount of money, but I didn’t had that money so I was stuck in that level for a long time.... Another thing I don’t like are the stars and the coins. Stars are used to complete tasks, but sometimes they just ask for to much, and when you complete a level you only get 1 star.... Also the coins, so every time you win a level they only give you 50 coins, which is nothing honestly. Sometimes you get extra from the bombs and all that stuff. You can also buy 5 moves which are 900 coins, I mean come on. Sometimes you get stuck on a level and you can’t buy moves.... because you don’t have enough money, and if you win they just give you 50 coins... I hope they take this is consideration since I saw many reviews with the same argument
Love the game but....
by Lailac2014 on 2018/08/30 11:09
I am at level 498 and I love the game. But when you have 10 more moves left and you win the level you are lucky to win 58 coins?!?! And you just better break out your dollars because some levels you will be killing yourselves to win. Like 498 level I am not going to spend anymore money on this game. And the few moves it gives you to play and the purple blocks that has the bugs in them good luck they get much harder in higher up levels. This level it has the regular white blocks that grow but the purple ones you have to kit them 2 to 3 times and they grow back just one to two moves after you remove another side. To get extra coins for more lives or boosters it is a lot of money for what little you get. 900 coins you get 3 this. And 1900 coins you get 3 globes. The lives run out so fast and sometimes my friends send me lives I see them and play one game go back to collect the life because it won’t allow you to have 6 life’s and it is missing. I am in the room right at the stairs I forget what it is called. Looks like another living room to me. The outside green house it felt like it took years to finish the plot line. I wish you could request the boosters but place them where you want them if you want them in the game. Like they would be added to your side menu but not dropped down in the puzzle because it places them and there would be a awesome move but the boosters messed it up and you only can use the boosters there is no other move.
Rewards aren’t sufficient
by megan121100 on 2017/10/16 20:32
I have played many, and I mean MANY, games such as this one in my lifetime. I find them to be fun and even addicting. Although the concept of the game is great, and I’ve only been playing for a short while, something needs to be improved with the coin/lives system. Getting around 50 coins per mini-game, which can take multiple lives to complete, isn’t sufficient enough. In order to buy a life, 900 coins, you would have to play around 18 rounds just to get enough coins for ONE life. I do not pay money on games, never have never will, but it’s so frustrating that you may have one move left and instead of paying real cash, not in game coins, you have to wait for a life to replenish just to try and fail at the level again. Each round can take 10+ lives to complete, and it takes quite awhile for the lives to replenish. There should be some kind of reward opportunity other than completing a day, especially because you need to play the mini-games to get stars, in order to complete tasks, to complete the day. That’s a lot of tasks to do with not a lot of lives/coin rewards!!! If there were events where you can play other mini-games to gain rewards/treasures I think it would be more efficient. I also think 28 minutes is a long time to wait for one single life. I don’t want to give up on this game with not a lot of time put into it already, but if there is no improvement, I might have to.
Cute and fun! 👌🏻 But here’s the thing.
by elephant3456789 on 2018/09/23 02:37
Homescapes is a good app. Not amazing but it’s good. It’s cute, it’s colorful and you feel accomplished when you fix the tv or replace the chair. The characters are nice and honestly kind of funny. 😄 and I’m glad you guys even included pets in the game! I like how everything is tried to kept decorated around the house. I like Homescapes much better than gradenscapes just because the colors and the graphics are better int my opinion. At least the game is a little better. The problem is you have to get stars from playing one game only. And even on a hard level you still get 1 star. It’s annoying how fast your stars run out. What’s even more annoying, it’s that sometimes you have to give one of your stars just to open a box, that you’ve already given a star for box to get to the house! What I’m saying is give more chances to get stars. Like as a prize. Instead of just money, give us a little money and a star! Or have different games besides just the one game to match the colors. Another thing is that it takes so long to complete one floor or one area of the house because of how limited of the stars you have. So I suppose you should just focus on the star problem because it will fix this one of taking so long! 😆 Please take this into consideration. The game would be much more entertaining and exciting if I didn’t give up so much on the game. Thank you 🐘🐘🐘
Letting players know
by Dr.Dremur on 2018/02/01 17:53
I wrote the same thing on Gardenscapes to let players know.. I'm letting all of you know that think you have to pay to beat a level is not true. Yes you can pay for the coins and stuff if you want. But it's just a matter of trial and error. I'm on level 289 and have not spent a dime of real money. I only use the coins I earn and the prizes I win with the calendar and events, sometimes it doesn't work out and I don't beat it but it doesn't mean I have to pay to win, I spent weeks on a level before keep trying don't give up and when you finally get a good set up the satisfaction is greater when you win. I love this game with the storyline it brings. I love trying to guess the new area when the other is complete. Same thing goes for Gardenscapes both are amazing.(and I'm on level 559 without spending money) Both games for all levels trial and error. Don't give up don't get frustrated. Support the developers by keeping the games. You can buy the sales offer. But just because you can't beat a level in a certain amount of days or weeks doesn't mean it's set up to where you have to pay to win. All levels in all games are made to be beaten without pay or upgrades. Paying to help doesn't mean you'll beat the level then. So don't get mad at the developers.
Annoying Storylines
by RayneMaybe on 2018/01/16 21:35
I'm giving this game 3/5 stars for a few reasons. I thoroughly enjoy the puzzle aspect itself, more so than competing puzzle games. The animations are smoother, the power ups are well thought out and exciting to use, and the puzzles are fun. I'm docking points though, because the storylines are infuriating to deal with. What roped me in to downloading this game was the home decor aspect. As a huge fan of interior design, this seemed like the perfect game for me. I got to play fun levels, but also simultaneously get to decorate a home. However, after spending months on this game, and completing 240 levels, I've only just now unlocked the 3rd room. If you can even call it that. It goes living room, kitchen, and then garden? Why!? There are TONS of rooms in this house, and after TWO HUNDRED AND FOURTY levels, I'm decorating a garden while so much of the house is untouched. Don't even get me started on the baking storyline. 6 stars just to bake the cake base. Another 3 to bake the house cake. Another 3 to frost it. Another 3 to put it together. Then 2 to drive it to the studio. Then 2 to celebrate the win. Then another 2 to open a present for winning... it doesn't stop! I didn't download the game to bake a cake. I downloaded it to furnish a house! Stop with that nonsense. It took WEEKS to get through that ridiculous storyline. I hope the developers listen to this criticism, because it's really really turning me off to an otherwise fantastic game.
Please add a couple of features from your other games
by GLu&ATu on 2017/10/10 19:09
So, after playing for some time now, I see the flaw that caused me to remove a star and ask for an update. In the developers' other games that I play (Gardenscapes and Fishdom), there are events and challenges that occur often, granting rewards and prizes that help keep you going. In Fishdom, there is Herman and the Bathyscaphe, daily gem and coin rewards for feeding fish and cleaning tanks, the Lightning Ray challenges, and often there are Treasure Chest rewards for beating levels. There are also achievement awards, although I suppose the "day completed" bonuses in Homescapes may count like an achievement. In Gardenscapes, there is a Rose growing challenge with treasure rewards and a fireworks league event that offers great prizes. Often you get power ups and unlimited lives for periods of time. This keeps you going in the game. However, thus far in Homescapes, there have been none of these things, and I find myself stuck on hard levels that could really use power ups or extra turns, and no way to obtain more coins or specials without spending money. Since that would be a bottomless pit, due to the never ending nature of these games, I find myself tempted to abandon Homescapes. I still want to help Austin refurb his home. Please update with some of the reward earning events that are used in your other games to help keep us going.
Love this game BUT changes need to be made!
by Akeener92 on 2018/01/31 21:56
I love this game! I’ve played many games, but this one has become my favorite. Over time though, I am beginning to get frustrated! You only get about 50-80 coins a game after completing the level, but in order to get more chances to play it’s 900 coins for the first 5 extra moves and then goes up to 1200. I don’t even know what’s after that, because it’s just so much! Even with the rewards they grant, you only get 100 coins which is like nothing. You really have to spend money to play this game. I’ve tried to be patient and play the games out without spending money, but many levels you just can’t! I don’t mind spending the money here and there, but it’s so expensive, it doesn’t even make it worth it. You get 1000 coins for .99 and it takes 900 coins to get 5 extra turns. That adds up really quick! Plus it’s even more expensive if you want power ups! I’m not too sure how much more I can continue playing if they don’t make some changes. It’s beginning to add up with how many coins I’ve been buying just to beat rounds. On top of that I believe that there are also sometimes when the board isn’t applying the power ups correctly. It's almost like a glitch or something that’s not working. I’m really hoping they make some changes to this game! Such a shame that it seems they are more concerned about money, than people continuing to play.
Well developed game
by MarDan06152006 on 2018/01/17 19:07
I do indeed enjoy playing this game. I play it normally thru out the day. It helps the time go by quickly. The only thing that bothers me is the hard and extra hard part of the game. I realize that it breaks up the monotony, but, I spend days sometimes trying to beat the level. But, it is good that the hard and extra hard are few and far between, so it’s not overwhelming, it’s a good change of pace. And, as others have said, rewards are few and far between as well. Especially with the hard levels, the rewards are just this: your normal level low coin reward is doubled and you are rewarded with one extra star. I know you have to make money in this venture, but, your doing it to the detriment of your customers. There is a reason we play games that say that they are free, it’s because a lot of us do not have the funds to use actual money to progress farther in the game faster then the other players that can afford to use their hard earned money. In conclusion, I think this game is well worth 5 stars, however, I did only give it 4 stars on account of the hard and very hard levels & the lack of well deserved rewards. I think there should be better rewards and it should be a little easier to get stars. Just my opinion for what it’s worth. But, great game!
Must pay $ to be able to advance
by FlutterbyLady on 2019/01/08 07:50
I actually love this game, but you end up having to spend $ to advance: It’s easy to play, the “puzzles” that you play to be able to build things for the house are fun, & challenging. But you reach a certain point where you have to have boosters to beat the levels, & because Playtrix only gives you a max of 70 coins for each level beat (a taudry amount considering what things cost in the game), you end up spending your own money to be able to keep playing levels, or to be able to buy boosters to beat the levels. To break it down for you: I’m at level 122 (which is impossible to beat without a booster because of how it is set up), which is about midway through the 5th decoration level in the game (haven’t even broached the upstairs level yet). I’ve already spent $60 on coins/boosters, & I’ve only been playing 2 weeks. Not going to spend anymore $ on this (even though I enjoy it) simply on principle. The rewards for levels are not anywhere close to what they should be, & the amounts you get for what you pay for aren’t enough either. In other games if you spent $20 you would be set for a couple weeks. This game ends up being a days at most because of demand for boosters/coins to the cost ratio. I see this company fizzling out soon because of this. It’s a shame. They have a good game. If the reward system worked like Zynga games then they might last.
It's fun but No rewards, gardenscapes better
by Nicki4713 on 2018/01/15 10:52
What I like about this game is the renovation, it's not on a grand level but I feel like I'm working towards something. It's fun to play and watch the characters interact. What I don't like is that in order to progress in the game you have to get through boards to earn one measly star. The to-do list needs sometimes 6 stars just in one listed item. It's hard to get stars without boosters or hammers and the game doesn't refill them. Ok so that's not entirely true, you can win boosters daily by opening the game, but never in game progression unless the mom is knitting a scarf which is every few days. It's frustrating that you need so many stars. The game does not meet you half way. That is to say, there is no game help, it doesn't give extra lives from characters you meet and it doesn't have "spin the wheel" to win boosters like in gardenscapes. I think Gardenscapes is the better game to play. I am going to delete this game if it doesn't change because I purchased coins to help pass boards on more than one occasion but it seems like the game is rigged after you buy the coins to be more challenging, so 900 coins turn into 1200 coins, turns into 1600 coins to pass one board. Then as long as you have coins the boards are "Hard". Forget that, I rather delete it.

Homescapes brings the annoying butler Austin you may (or may not) know from Gardenscapes back to his childhood home. His parents, as empty-nesters, have decided to sell their large estate and move into a smaller, more efficient home - better suited for their needs and season of life. Well Austin, being obviously wiser than they, immediately moves back into his parent’s house and convinces his aging parents to not only stay living in an enormous mansion they can’t possibly keep up with, but to spare no expense at fixing the monolith up. If that part of the story doesn’t fry your bacon, then be prepared for pointless tasks designed to eat up the stars you earn on activities NOT RELATED to repairing the old mansion and the rooms within. The levels require very little strategy; I find the board layout to be purely based on luck and it can take several days or even weeks to beat one, so earning stars to get ahead will truly enslave you to this game. As for the characters; Austin is the know-it-all son, his father a dim-witted buffoon, and his mother has no personality. His relationship with Katherine is uninteresting and ALL other characters are one-dimensional stereotypes. So if any or all of those things appeal to you, download the game. I gave 1 star for it being ad-free and another for the ‘clean’ factor (I can have my young son play and not worry about mature content snuck in). I keep playing thinking it will get better but sadly it does not.
Interesting Game... Can Be Improved
by satansniece on 2018/03/05 23:42
I simply adore Homescapes. It is fun and easy to learn how to play, and it kills time while making us think. I believe the new tournaments are fun, but it needs more. The levels need to make it so more coins can be earned. If I earn the minimum coins per level (50) and play 10 levels, it still isn’t enough to get a retry on a particularly hard level. Now I do think the fact they are called “Hard Levels” makes it better for us to prepare, and definitely the coin amount there is worth it. But in order to pass a level, I spend almost 6-8 hearts if it’s extremely time-consuming and hard. There is still the issue with more prizes. I like the daily bonus, but after the seventh day, it sent me right back to the first day without any prizes. I believe it should be after the 7th day, you get all the prizes from day 1-6 at the same time, and then day 8 and on should have more until you reach every seventh day again. It’s a good way to make people play the game. There also need to be more tournaments that don’t give prizes based off places. I never get first place in the plane tournament, but in the knitting ball one, I got a lot of prizes and it made me feel more encouraged to try. This game is great but definitely needs more to attract more and lose less people.
Love this game! But you gotta spend money!
by TriniJanel on 2019/04/17 13:33
I love this game! Super addictive and fun. You can spend hours playing it, HOWEVER... as you increase in levels it starts to become less fun. The boards get harder, naturally, but you still only get 1 star for the Hard and Super Hard boards when you win them. But tasks take upwards of 6 and even more stars to complete. And some tasks are just ridiculous to even warrant a star! Make a call, move an object, can take 2 stars at times!! It makes it extremely hard and tedious to advance in the game. Not to mention the coins, you only get at max about 100 coins depending on what level you beat, but if you want extra moves it 900 coins!!! Ok, you do the math.... when it’s all said and done you have to spend money on extra lives to beat the boards, on coins to advance in the levels and get the stars you need in order to fix things to advance! As the boards get harder we should get more stars, Hard=2 stars, Super Hard=3 stars and so forth, as we advance in the game tasks cost more stars so we should naturally EARN more stars to off set it! Not keep us at 1 star per level, but the higher we go tasks are costing us 6-12 stars PER TASK, come on!! Same with the coins! It’s not fair, and you are forcing people to spend money if they want to continue in the game at a reasonable pace. Love the game, hate the setup! Not spending money on this, they need to change the system!
Has some fatal flaws
by Ashley loves kevin on 2018/08/22 17:39
As you play the game, things get harder pretty fast. For example, every task around the house goes from costing one star to two. The rewards aren’t sufficient to the amount of boosts being spent on harder levels. Some levels are so hard and waste so many lives that you have to use boosts just to get through it. There should be more levels that don’t take multiple tries to get through. Some of the tasks that the game makes you do are stupid. The game is trying to get you to use all your stars so you have to play more, which is typical, but with the levels so hard, it’s really just a tactic to get people to spend more money. It’s also takes way too long for the lives to reload. It’s like 25mins per life. I really liked this game at the start but the further I’ve gotten, the less I want to continue playing. Instead of throwing in so many different aspects into the puzzle games so soon, they should have waited and made it harder much later. I’m only in the kitchen and I spend on average 3-5 lives on each level. I try not to use boosters because they are so hard to earn. Paying 900coins to get 5 more moves on one level, when each level earns you roughly 50-70 coins (hard levels earn you 100+) is just sad. In conclusion, this game only remains fun for the first 60 levels then gets frustrating. Pretty much a scheme to get consumers to spend a lot of money.
I really like this game
by Idkalhskksbska on 2018/03/17 17:25
Ive played a lot of games like this, and for the most part, I enjoy them. However, some just get too tedious and frustrating and become impossible to play without spending money. This isn’t one of them. I’m on level 248 and I’ve never spent any money on it. I’m constantly given boosters and power ups which make it easier to get past especially hard levels. Every Friday-Sunday Austin’s Mom knits a scarf and the rewards you get for beating levels increases. For example, once you beat two levels you get unlimited lives for an hour or two. The only complaint I have about that is that sometimes I’m just playing levels as I’m going to bed and I’m not about to stay up for another hour just to take advantage of the unlimited lives. There are also calendar boosters you unlock everyday and I keep getting more without having to use them, so I have a lot stored away. I really enjoy the animation as well and the obstacles, goals, and power ups are new and interesting and I really appreciate it. I also like that there’s a story telling aspect to accompany the level beating. It’s a very refreshing concept and you’re not required to play the storyline to just beat levels, if that’s what you want to do.

I love the whole concept of the game, the feeling of accomplishment and pride, lol, as if it were MY home. The ONLY reason I put 3 stars is because the spend v reward is the biggest joke I have ever seen on any game I have played. Period. There isn’t a level you cannot beat with no money involved but it will take you about 4 days of playing the same level. Then you spend astronomical amounts of money to buy the goodies that help you win each level to have them nickel and dime you by making sure at the very last, when you should be able to pick a move that has ALWAYS, with no exception, removed x amount of things in certain patterns or directions, it only works partially. So, guess what? You guessed it! When you have already spent gratuitous amounts of money to win something, that never in a million years makes you feel like you won anything, you have to spend more. My moral to this story is, as much as I like the whole concept of the game, I get so angry and frustrated at their trickery(aka:dishonesty) with their power plays and how they usually work compared to what happens at the end and how the reward system works that I have decided to find a game that I have no problem spending money on but walk away feeling happy and relaxed about how I spent my very little free time that I have and my money that I work very hard d for.
Could this be my second love?

So I’ve been playing Homescapes for the past couple of months (yes, I said months) and I must say this game I by far one of my favorites and I am finally at a point where can break it down real brief. Short background about me, I grew up playing the classic game Bejeweled! Which trickles down to all these copy’s of the “traditional match-3 mechanics”, however Homescapes does a beyond amazing job of intertwining this type of game pay with a well-developed storyline! As of this review, I’m currently on level 415, have accumulated about 40 stars, and am on day 6 in the story and have only about 1/5 of the game completed (this is a rough estimate based off of the amount of the estate that I’m making progress in! This is definitely a game that I have been enjoying level by level until completion, from the basic to the super hard (difficulty settings)! There are also constant twists and turns for each level! Like the developers at Playrix really sat down and thought of a variety of ways to get people like me addicted to the amazingness their minds constructed! This is pure awesomeness! I greatly appreciate this game! It’s relaxing vibe makes it perfect for any time of enjoyment! Playrix! Y’all did your do on this one!
Homescapes

I liked the game at first but the more you try to play, the more ridiculous and costly it gets. I love all kinds of match 3 games, but the more I try to play both Homescapes and Gardenscapes the more frustrating they get. I believe games should be fun and challening, but come on, this is beyond ridiculous. I looked and read other reviews, a lot of them, nd they all basically say the same thing. I cannot believe Playrix, the developers and makers of some really wonderful games came up with something this impossible to play. The Develpoers REALLY need to pay attention to the reviews. They should really listen and make some serious changes to fix what could be a wonderful game. I think the developers should fix the game so the power ups are on the side so you can choose when to use them, and if you have any left they should be useable on the next level. I think the developers need to really read the reviews and seriously think about making some changes. One change, let us choose when to use our boosts or power ups. Put them on the side and let us be able to use them during a level at nytimei stead of all of them at once. Does anyone know if any of the developers even read the reviews. Why ask us to rate the game and write reviews when it doesn’t seem like the makers of the game are even reading them.
Not as advertised
by Errrrrn on 2019/04/17 07:31
I’m rating this game a 2 because the ad that I saw for this game was NOT at ALL what this game turned out to be. BUUUUT having said that, I have become so addicted to this game, checking in on it several times a day and can’t wait for my lives to regenerate and LOVE it when I finally win a particularly difficult level. I do wish that the rewards were a little more generous. And that things didn’t cost so much gold I mean 900 for only 5 more moves! That just kills my stash! But I keep playing so 🤷🏼‍♀️ It kills me to admit that I have spent money to buy more gold coins in order to keep playing or buy more boosts, and to buy the gold is $5.99 which even though i paid for it I feel is a bit steep. I wish that more of the gold you win for beating each level went to you instead of into your piggy bank, that is very frustrating!! But here I am still playing. I might have to delete it to spare my own piggy bank. ***I finally had to delete it*** I refuse to throw away any more money on something so frivolous but kept getting stuck on these ridiculously hard levels with no helps and not enough gold to buy any more. :( they really need to lower the cost of things and give you more gold when you win a level. I play Toon Blast now and love it have not needed to spend money the rewards I get for playing are enough to keep going and it’s so fun!
Who has time to spend weeks trying to beat a single level
by AlexLB3 on 2018/09/14 16:50
I really enjoyed this game initially. The puzzles and all were really fun. But I just don’t like the fact that every little thing you do cost multiple stars and so you have to complete multiple levels to do the simplest things that honestly shouldn’t cost a star at all. Really thought the game would be more focused on designing the house. Not the garden or paying attention to what’s going on in town. Additionally, I understand the game is supposed to be challenging. But who honestly has time to spend weeks trying beat a single level to continue on with the game. Some levels are literally so difficult that the user ends up frustrated and just closing the game out for the day. Sure I’ve spent a fair amount on money trying to beat those select levels. And I see some user reviews that talk about spending a huge amount of money. But who honestly has time to devote that much energy into a game as well as waste money trying to get through a level just to get stuck and have to spend more money again later on a higher level. Really think the developers should have an option to just skip one if they can see you have tried 100 times and still can’t get past. It just ruins the game if you can never progress any further.
Greedy Developers
by KokoroNoTakara on 2017/11/14 16:08
The developers of these kinds of games don’t care about giving us quality games, they just want to say they are making the games “challenging and fun” but are really just wanting us to dole out tons of real money to line their greedy pockets... Challenging and fun does not mean rob me blind just to get through some levels on a stupid game that looked awesome but was deceiving... I am having to use all my energy 3-5 times refilled just to get through one level!!! That is 15-25 energy for ONE FREAKING LEVEL!!! Some of these levels are near impossible and the developers don’t care to listen to our complaints since there are so many of us who give in to buying our way through the game we cannot otherwise get through... I have already uninstalled this pathetic excuse for a game... If I could develope a game similar to this and Matchington Manor/Gardenscapes, even poor as I am I know I wouldn’t be trying to rip people off... These games could be good and I would be willing to pay for packages but not just to get through levels... The ratio of money we earn in comparison to what things cost is just ridiculous... But like I said the developers of these games do not care about anything but lining heir filthy greedy pockets and I for one will not aid in doing so when I can play actual gun games that don’t require real money just to progress... Buying packages should be when you want to buy limited time house items or something...
Not Better than Gardenscapes....just another expensive SCAM!!!!
by Maychaom on 2017/10/20 04:32
Initially, the game seemed easier than gardenscapes as the game would give coin bonuses although that was short lived. Then as you climbed the levels and the game becomes increasingly more difficult, it is inevitable that a purchase would have to be made to beat a level because just like gardenscapes, the coin return for each level is so minimal and the incentives for playing the game is next to nothing. When the player runs out of power ups (if the player even has power ups) the chances of progressing to the next level is almost impossible unless a purchase was made. What a total scam! While I understand that all games are geared towards making the developers money, this game and gardenscapes are the only two where I have had to spend more money than any other games I have ever played since the developers are so stingy with their rewards! So I changed my rating from 5 stars to 1! And just so you know...I am not paying another dime on your games....so who's laughing now? Do you even read your reviews....you have many unhappy players! Apparently there are updates to the game although the issues brought up by players are still not addressed. I agree that your biggest goal is to get players to spend money....sad that you could care less about your players. Guess I will be deleting this game as well. Good luck to you not losing all your players.
Good for a FEW FREE hours of fun
by Elledee396294 on 2018/05/14 04:40
I knew this game was too good to be true. It was super fun and addicting, and I’m not even the game type. It’s much like another popular similar game that had people hooked for hours—but with a cool twist that added to the appeal. As you complete levels, in a Sims style, you are helping a character rebuild his childhood home. It’s fun seeing it go from shambles to chic as you play! I thought, wow, this is free?! (I noted the lack of ads and waited for it...) All things that seem too good to be true usually (always) are. After a certain point, you need money to buy coins in order for passage of the levels to be possible. It IS possible to pass them, but only after several tries, and your tries are limited to “lives” that you must buy or wait minutes/hours to reload...Sound familiar? I refuse to fork out money for monetary units in a fictitious world. I’d rather pay a flat rate and just have a more accessible game, if that makes sense. I just can’t justify buying “coins” or “stars” or “hearts” or whatever it is the game uses as barter. So, with that, back to my real life, and I’ll probably play this every once in awhile while sitting in a waiting room or something like that. Like the other game I’m alluding to, this will inevitably be deleted and forgotten about, but it was good for a few solid hours of fun. :)
Great Game!
by Ye Old Gamer on 2019/04/13 17:18
I’m still in love with this game. It’s such a nice way to relax. The super hard levels are just that but I enjoy the challenge! I wish there would be a bit bigger ‘boom’ if you combine two bombs or two rockets but it’s still my favorite game. Most games, I’ll play for a while then I get bored but this game has kept my interest for the last year and a half! Keep up the great work Game Developers! By the way- as a cat person- huge kudos to the developer of the cat- it gets more realistic with every upgrade! Thank you so much! UPDATE: I’m on level 617 and STILL loving the game. The interaction with the characters is fun and entertaining. Only two suggestions for the developers - when two bombs or two multi-color balls are combined the explosions need to be bigger. The second suggestion would be for the rewards to be a little bigger, especially on the ‘super hard’ levels. Other than those two suggestions, I think this game is awesome. Another update: I still think this game is pretty awesome. It’s something that I can relax with after a day of work craziness. Still think that my suggestions above would be a good idea. Again, thank you to the developers for a cool and relaxing game.
Almost 5 Stars, addictive & fun, but...
by Joyful122 on 2018/02/28 12:29
I don't have complaints at all about game play or rewards like some others do. I feel it's challenging, but not frustrating, very satisfying. I like gameplay more than Gardenscapes, which I still play as well. My only complaint is one others have had as well, this game is called HOMEscapes, but for weeks the story line has me upgrading the garden when I've only renovated 3 rooms in the gigantic mansion. Just when I thought I was finished in the garden, the story line STILL has more garden tasks. I really want to see more of the mansion! My daughter played this game as well and mostly stopped playing when the garden renovation began because she wanted to renovate the home. I can see how those with less patience would easily give up if they want home renovation instead of the garden. I'm on level 454 and have only renovated the butlers room, great room, kitchen, and stairs! Maybe the creators of the game could give players a choice on which room or area to continue with? Otherwise, I love the gameplay. Just stick to the idea of home renovation instead of branching to other story lines for so long. Don't mind it for a few levels, but veers off way too long.
Amazing until it becomes very frustrating
by Pug Mom of 2 on 2019/01/07 03:41
This game is really amazing. I’m not even going to say how much I’ve spent on this game to get to advance quicker and renovate the spaces even faster. The story line is cute, the characters are enjoyable, and you’re actually very motivated and excited to advance and fix up the areas. HOWEVER, you reach a point in the game where it is impossible to win any level without boosters or spending coins to get some extra turns, and that really becomes no fun. You also start competing in challenges with other players and, since I was always given the “Hard” or “Super Hard” levels (as they are called in the game) during challenges, I rarely did well, and always dropped in rank. Not that it matters or that I really cared, but one more way to feel frustrated with this game. Also, this is not the “Gardenscapes” game, but you’re forced to spend a VERY long time renovating the greenhouse and outside. I really wanted to get back to the inside of the house, but it’s not an option since you have to go in order of the story and where the areas open up for you to work. I have uninstalled this game. I refuse to spend any more time or money on it, but I am bummed about it. I would have loved to keep playing and renovating, but not with how impossible the levels become. Save your time and money and don’t get sucked in!!
Good & Bad
by RonaldsLady on 2018/07/11 17:09
There’s a lot I like about this game. Specifically each round gives you a challenge and I love to always test my mind. I like that beating the rounds gives you stars which in turn help you build up the mansion and property. What I find annoying and has made me look for another game is the fact that sometimes there are “festivals” or “events” that your stars go towards which temporarily decorate the mansion. This to me is pointless and doesn’t contribute to the actual upgrades so it feels like those stars are wasted. I don’t care about the “flower festival.” I don’t want my stars wasted on the temporary decoration of the mansion with pointless flowers for this festival. I want my stars to go towards things that matter like unlocking rooms or pieces of the property. When the stars are wasted on these things it makes me feel like I’m no longer progressing in the game and I get bored. Especially because I actually put money into the game so I’m not a F2P. So yes, my actual money is being wasted here. I get there’s a story line that’s to be followed but I feel like many of these things should be reviewed. Why am I paying for the festivals and other events? That’s not my goal. My goal is to build up the property. So these festivals and events shouldn’t be taking stars. Still add them as part of the story line without taking away stars and the main objective.
Fun with a few minor issues
by hello.html i love iD tect camp on 2018/06/24 05:53
Don’t get me wrong, I love this game, but it seems a little slow. Like in the beginning when I was trying to repair the entry hall, the can of paint spilled. I know that it only took 1 star to clean it up, but really? That part was a waste of coding and time for one little thing that they don’t need, and it was annoying. I just started playing, and I already like it, but I also see that it will be a little stubborn and slow at certain times. And in Austin’s room, when your done with it and everything looks new, there’s a dusty old desk that doesn’t go with the room, and I felt like I should replace it, but I can’t. There were a few more parts that didn’t need to be there, but they put them there. Like when Austin’s dad stomps on the floor and breaks it, he they didn’t have to do that. Austin would have repaired it anyway. I am also confused about when Austin got to the house and went into his room and instead of a bed, there was a couch. Where did he sleep? Also, if nobody had lived in the house for years, why where the clothes on the statues not dusty? If you make another game from another game then shouldn’t you mention it? I mean it said nothing about Gardenscapes. I liked the game, but it had a few issues.
Inevitable Pay Wall
by Nicknamebro on 2019/02/22 06:28
Homescapes is another enjoyable color matching “free to play” game with a nice home decorating mix to it. Each level you finish earns you a star which you can use to renovate/decorate your home. Since your home starts off as a total mess you’ll be doing things like rebuilding stair cases, putting new wallpaper, replacing furniture and much more. You usually get to choose between 3 different style options for almost everything in the home and it’s really nice to see it transform into something new. However, the game can be a bit tedious because you will also need to earn stars to complete other activities such as answering the door or finding your cat. This makes the progress of rebuilding your home much slower and I am sure that was the intention of the developer. The major problem with this game is that you eventually will reach a level of difficulty that requires the use of all of your power ups to be able to complete. And once you run out you will spend a lot of time replaying the same level over and over until you get lucky and finish it. This was also intentional so that people would be enticed to pay real money for power ups. Although the game is fun and good quality, I have to knock it down a couple stars because of the pay wall.
homescapes rocks!
by sepdancingart on 2018/04/20 20:49
I personally have been playing this game for a few weeks, and I’m completely addicted! I love the idea behind this game, and all the creativity included. candy crush is one of my favorite games as well, but I also really like to organize and design houses and rooms too, so this is just the perfect game for me! games such as home design really interest me because it’s super fun to decorate homes, and tie the them together with pictures and furniture. although, sometimes, the levels can be a little hard and I don’t have enough money in the game to continue on a level. eventually I learned the tips and tricks though, and I’m nearly a pro! my brother also really enjoys this game, but finds it to be slightly challenging at his age. of course, he is still quite young so it’s understandable. plus, I really like teaching him how to do it and helping him with it. i like how it walks you through all of the events in Austin’s life, too! absolutely amazing design on that! progression through this game is just so fun, and I’m always excited to sit down and play. anyways, I really love this game and recommend it to everyone out there who is willing to go on an adventure through a screen.
Addictive. Just be prepared to spend a TON of money
by Chelseealee92 on 2017/10/08 15:13
This game has a great concept but it’s clear that all this company wants is for its players to spend as much money as possible. As the levels get harder you’re forced to pay for power ups because you have limited moves OR you spend money on more coins because you run out of lives. Each level you get a measly 50-70 coins depending on how well you do the level and one star. The more grand the tasks that Austin makes you do however, you need more than 1 star per task or else you can’t progress. You potentially end up spending a lot of money to finish a level or a task. It’s extremely frustrating. I’ve been looking for a game like this forever but I’m deleting it because the concept is getting ridiculous. The game adds more and more obstacles in each puzzle making it even more difficult to finish it in the 25 moves allotted. It’s a lot of work for little reward. If you’re going to make us only have 5 lives then give us unlimited moves or vice versa. Let users watch ads to give us stars or something along those lines. Give us more coins per levels and let the coins pay for each task with the stars being extra rewards. But I know none of these suggestions are what the company wants because they’ll lose money and this review will not be read anyways. I’m deleting this game. Sorry for realizing how money hungry you guys are. Despicable.
Time
by -annoyed on 2018/06/09 15:03
I am constantly trying to find more things to do while I am waiting for levels to load and it gets boring when you have to wait 20+ mins for it to load when all you want to do is play! Play! Play!! so yes I am really looking for something else to do while time is passing such as being able to have conversations with the people who are passing along meaning I would type my response and have conversations about whatever I feel like talking about or playing with the cat leaving to go to school or work maybe just something to do while the time is passing by until the level loads and also I don’t like having to wait to unlock new rooms I still have not unlocked any since I started and I’m getting restless it’s so boring when all you can do is sit in the house all day long PLEASE FIX THESE ISSUES IT IS DRIVING ME NUTS!!!! other than that it’s pretty cool and very fun Yours truly, Valued Customer -*=*- P.S i have been stuck on both level 29 on Gardenscapes and level 57 on Homescapes for at least one to two weeks or so I was wondering if you could bring the difficulty level down a couple notches because to be honest and fair it becomes quite frustrating when you are trying over and over again and it would help if you took that under consideration thanks Playrix!
Cost-to-reward ratio is out of balance
by mommyhaleiv on 2018/01/24 05:18
I’ve been playing this game for several months now, and although I enjoy the gameplay, the cost-to-reward ratio is highly out of balance. For example, the costs of power-ups is 1900, 900, and 1900 coins for 3 rocket/bomb combos, 3 color-seekers, and 3 double-planes respectively. Mind you, it’s $4.99 (real money) for 5500 coins — of course the more you money you spend, the bigger “discount” you get — but that’s the least expensive package you can purchase that will at very minimum refill your power-ups. The problem I have with the game is that the “rewards” at the end of each level is MAYBE 50-70 coins (assuming you’ve completed the level with moves to spare) for the simple levels and 100 coins for the “hard levels”. So, you have to complete a significant number of levels — at least 19 of the hard levels — to even equal the cost of one power-up. Of course I know that the app developers are trying to make a living, BUT the cost-to-reward ratio needs to balance out significantly more than it does now. I’ve spent a TON of money on this game (sporadically over the time I’ve been playing it), and it is disenchanting when I’m paying more money than I’m getting in return for the play. Value counts ladies and gentlemen, and as much as I love this game, the cost is starting to disproportionately outweigh the value.
Not My Favorite
by 446Reviews on 2019/04/18 04:35
I think it is a fun game but with a few things that could be a lot better. First off, I saw this commercial on another app. It showed a bar at the bottom we’re you had to try and fix things by using different tools. That isn’t what you get. Instead it’s a matching game. So they need to change that commercial. Second the lives take forever. You have to wait 30 minutes to get ONE life. If it were 30 minutes for 10 it’d be a different story. Another thing is how you are not only working to get the house renovated and decorated. No you have to call Austin’s parents a cab, bake and decorate your mothers cake she needs to be baking and decorating, you have to deal with a cat you didn’t even want, and more that doesn’t have to do with house renovation. And lastly the levels give you only one or two stars even if they’re really hard. But I do like the house decorating part of the game and is the only reason I’m keeping it but If you don’t like Candy Crush and get frustrated with looking for your runaway cat every 5 minutes then don’t install this game. If you do like Candy Crush and don’t mind all that stuff and do like to decorate this is the game for you. Also I’d recommend no t getting this game if your not interested in Austin’s love triangle thing.
Unbalanced Algorithms
by Mr Toe Knee on 2018/02/02 16:42
Their algorithm control of the game gets quite obvious after a couple “game” days. It gets frustrating at times watching how they control the drops to undoubtedly lead to 1-3 pieces left with zero moves. Then when they additionally drop in a break item that will finish that level just spend the tokens to finish it off. All algorithm controls and sometimes unbalanced when they want you to use a saved breaker or spend coin, you can almost count on it. Then they tweak the set up during knitting weekends. A level you spent 20+ turns on is finished with well over 10 turns left, with their true intent being you earning one of the knitting prizes of bonus time, then they hit you with a “hard” rated level and turn that algorithm back up to max. Another complaint is this game doesn’t stay true to its theme. You will spend a day baking, not upgrading house. Then you will spend many days after working on the yard as if this is garden scapes. Maybe they should incorporate the two. If I want my yard nice, I’ll play garden scapes. Meanwhile there is much of my home inaccessible and needing attention while in our cutting weeds. As for the basis of the game, fun enough to get 3 stars only because I still play it, but if I wasn’t hooked, it would be a 2 star for sure.
Fun but unbalanced
by Ellyessa on 2017/10/09 20:52
I’ve always enjoyed the simplicity of these match three candy crush type games. I also enjoy a bit of a challenge, it keeps me from beating a game too rapidly or getting bored. That said this game is ridiculously unbalanced. It is near impossible to beat a level without using power ups, additional moves, if not both. Not everyone is inclined or able to spend obscene amounts of money to actually do that. I’ve been stuck on level 24 for days, the difficulty of it reminds me of level 700+ in Gardenscapes. With Gardenscapes there is a least the daily spin and events that allow to get items, coins and other useful things, which nicely balances out the increasingly difficulty of the levels. Homescapes lacks all of these along with it being insanely difficult right off the get go. Not a good way to keep players, where I may be happy to spend a few bucks every so often on a game that is well balanced like Gardenscapes I feel as if any money spent on this game would be a waste and give the wrong impression to developers that this type of money hungry tactic is acceptable. Overall I think this game does have a lot of potential but unless the balance issue is fixed my rating is 2 stars at best as the money hungry tactic irritates me endlessly. If proper balance is added in I’ll be happy to change my review.
Need to spend too much money
by jess.pastrick on 2018/01/03 13:36
I have been playing for a long time, and truly enjoy it. However, as you advance farther and farther, the levels get naturally more difficult. My complaint that the initial fee to keeping trying after you run out of moves is 900 coins. When you beat a level, you get an estimate of 50 coins or so, unless it’s a “hard level,” then you get 100 coins. It basically comes down to you have to start using real cash to keep playing if you want to, because continuing to play a level costs 900 coins and gives you 5 moves. Once those moves are gone, it’s an additional 1,200 coins. It can be incredibly frustrating when I have only one more move left to beat the level and am faced with having to spend real money to get those 1,200 coins, or give up and play the whole level over and waste the 900 coins i already spent trying to beat it. I’m on a level around 170, and have been enjoying it, but may not continue much longer if the ratio of coins to prices does not change. Also, when you beat a level, you only get one additional coin for each power up (such as a bomb or flying arrow) you have remaining. If those power ups go off, and create 5 matches, you still only get 1 coin for each power up. I think any additional matches made should receive coins as well
Addictive, but too expensive to keep playing.
by tamia21 on 2018/02/16 04:45
I love the game, but it’s too expensive to keep playing especially when they make getting thru the levels unnecessarily hard but don’t reward you with enough coins & stars. Other games I play that are similar puzzle games, allow you to add additional lives before you start a board as well offer more boosters...you should be able to visit other players homes as well, to see how they decorated and also to earn more coins and stars and also become neighbors with random players you don’t have to become friends with on Facebook but just need to get more lives, boosters, coins & stars. Increasing the number of stars to perform task is unfair especially when you don’t earn more stars for passing more or difficult levels...we should also be able to put the boosters on the board where we want to place it, especially if you need it to help you pass the board, or be able to store it in your “booster bank”, until you want to use it...it shouldn’t cost so much to add additional moves when you choose that option in order to finish a board/level, 900+ coins is absolutely ridiculous. If you offer more perks/better rewards you will keep ur players happy & they’ll want to keep playing.
I love it!
by Lilladypurple on 2017/12/17 01:35
I can't get enough of Homescapes. I don't want to stop playing but I run out of lives so I have no choice. Lol. I think I like it better than Gardenscapes and I love Gardenscapes too. I like how you can put different types of explosives together or two of the same to make a bigger explosive. It would be even greater if you could put more than two together. I've had three explosives lined together but I can't mix all three together. I haven't had 4 or more alined but that would be more awesome. With Gardenscapes it seems like I'm not able to complete and able to upgrade or rebuild anything as quickly as I seem to be able to with Homescapes. So if you wanted to change something with Gardenscapes that would be one thing. I guess it's a little harder to complete a level. You can't mix two explosives like you can with Homescapes. It's just totally different with the match game with Homescapes it seems to me. I love it and I can't get enough of it. I'm always wondering what the next level is going to be like. I recommend Homescapes to everyone who likes to play games like this to take a break from your every day Life. Very enjoyable.
Stingy rewards
by Missy Meme on 2017/12/01 07:29
I like this game, but the rewards earned are quite stingy compared to cost.. otherwise I would have given you 5 stars! Great artwork. Only 50+coins / 1 star per game vs 900 or 1900 for any extra boosters 🤬. Interesting characters. And fun game. Like the decorating aspect. The daily rewards upgrade has helped towards a little more balance, but not far enough. I might just have to quit due to cost/gain imbalance. At least the cost to change pieces is reasonable, because after you add some furniture, it doesn’t quite go together with newer additions., but you don’t know that until you get through most of the room. Raise the rewards for each win and I might even consider downloading gardenscapes! So, I changed rating to 5 stars. The rewards are still off balance, but at least you added other ways to get coins and power ups. Shows you are listening. Im trying to find the strategy for each level. Some I can, others seem to be just luck. I’m really getting into the story line, the characters and I’m excited for the Christmas features! PLEASE make the rewards/gains more. Especially the unlimited play hours.
Sad to say goodbye...

Update March 2019: Dropped three stars because I’m ridiculously annoyed with the false advertising pop-ups I’ve been getting for this in other games. Not only does it give a false impression of what the game is like, but you copied the entire ad exactly from Matchington Mansion. Seriously? Terrible marketing ethics. Original review: I’m giving this game five stars despite being annoyed with the trend of the updates since February, since I can see from the other reviews that what I now strongly dislike is what tons of other players have been asking for. I was enjoying how this is different from Gardenscapes (which I played for a few weeks and then uninstalled because it wasn’t remotely relaxing with all the pop ups, events, etc.). Personally, I really don’t want events and other things that interfere with, or layer on to, the storyline. I liked the quiet and simplicity of just working my way through it. I’m sad that impatient players ruined what was a lovely game. :( I’ve been enjoying this game since September, made it to level 957, but since it started introducing a lot of the same elements as Gardenscapes because so many players can’t figure out how to beat levels without spending money (I’ve never spent a dime on this game and was getting along swimmingly), I am finally abandoning it.
Love the game/concept... except a few things..
by Bernie's wife on 2018/09/17 20:02
I have recently started playing the game. I love the idea of breaking up the monotony of playing level after level of matching by renovating the home. I have played a lot of app games over the years, and this is different. I do have a few small complaints/criticism/suggestions. I think it takes too long to renew your lives. I am not going to dump money into renewing lives, I would rather do it to complete a difficult round that I have struggled with. The monetary reward seems quite minimal as well. You can go 15 levels without using any coins and still not have enough to help you the one time you need the extra five moves, without spending money. It doesn’t add up quickly, so it tends to get frustrating. I think the biggest complaint I have is, that I have both Gardenscapes and Homescapes and I prefer the homescapes by far! However, I have spent my last several levels and Money into renovating my garden on homescapes. If I wanted to garden I would play Gardenscapes. I have dumped a lot of money into this game, but quite honestly if I don’t soon get out of the garden and get back into the house I’m going to delete them both and find another home renovation type game to spend my money on.

I totally recommend this game.

by gnrjhfhgb on 2019/04/24 21:49
At first I loved the game and I was doing really good at it and then I got to level 20 and then it was impossible to pass it and I am still trying.

Boring
by MarmarDup on 2019/04/24 18:16
Not sure what they hype is.

Downloaded the game finally after having to watch so many ad’s on it. I hate that you have to complete one of those stupid color matching games to earn 1 star to do something. This game is very slow and got sick of it a few a hours after downloading it. I was expecting the game that was advertised when i downloaded it.

Levels are soooo hard after the intro ones
by lobstersorter on 2019/04/24 02:42
Levels are too hard after you get past the start of the game, and spending money on boosters is just a waste because they can’t help you. It’s frustrating. Candy Crush is still better because you have to pass a level in this game to get ONE star...no stars no “decorating” and some decorations cost six stars or more. You can’t get the next decorations until you finish the ones already assigned. So, you wind up playing the same level ad nauseum with no possibility of making progress.

Can’t exit the game!

There is no way on the new iPhone to exit the game without shutting your phone off. Trapped! Bs. Bye!
Good game

Just all around fun to play
Fun

This game is addicting!
by $3@/\/ loverXOXO<3 on 2018/11/04 22:57
I’ve never been one to play these kind of match games, a friend just kind of bugged and bugged me to try it so I downloaded it and like for the first couple levels I thought “why am I doing this?” but when I actually got to lay down furniture and see the parents react to it, it was actually really satisfying!

Riding the fence
by Rental/Real Estate Hunter on 2017/12/30 20:35
I love the whole concept of the game, the feeling of accomplishment and pride, lol, as if it were MY home.

Despicable.
Time

I love it!
