Bad farm system
by Cyc2u on 2019/12/04 12:31
Nice graphics but farming is a big part of the game and it is annoying. It doesnt save when you click auto and you have to constantly skip cut scenes which even show up between rounds. They have memory spheres but you’ll run out of them fast and then you have to spend game money for 20 more which are easily used up in no time. I dont have the patience to watch every single fight and constantly skip cut scenes. The battles take forever even on 4x. Make farming more enjoyable and you could have a nice game.

Wasn’t really sure about this game, but after playing it for a few hours I can say that I love it!! It reminds me a lot of a Final Fantasy game play and battle mode but without all the annoying running around. I can see myself enjoying this game for a long time. Oh, and I love love love that there isn’t any annoying ads you’re forced to watch either 😅😄
Great game should deserve more...

Apparent Thieves
by MonLilyD07 on 2019/11/28 23:37
I downloaded this game in September and have put about $100 cash into it. I allowed my neighbor to create an account under my alt email address and he put upwards of $50 or more into his game. Last week his game was replaced by a new game for the second or third time and support refuses to return it again. I used my game account to send in screenshots of our in-game purchases and after having to wipe my device over my inability to control the alt email account signing in to Game Center on its own on start up with a back up that I never established running my own game is now gone. I have been barred from game play on Fridays when Tournament is active as has my neighbor and now both our accounts have been replaced with new games and Playkot has over $100 of our cash. Refund our purchases or return our games. This is the ONLY GAME that has been played since I originally set this device up. There’s no way that any of you can claim no responsibility.
Excellent

I’m not much of a “Phone Gamer” but this title caught my attention. I was looking for an RPG style game that didn’t cost much of was free. Well this game certainly filled that desire. You can pay for items and upgrades which in today’s saturated market of games is the norm but in AOM you don’t feel overwhelmed or bombarded to spend your hard earned money to accomplish that feeling of satisfaction. I only have great opinions on this game and I highly recommend giving it a play. There are no real negative aspects for me to list but doesn’t mean there aren’t any or that I haven’t found. I can honestly say this is a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟start game!
Clean UI and Fun!

I’m here mainly for the lovely graphic and character animations. I love playing on auto as I do other things and collecting and powering up characters. A few hours in and still enjoying!
Worst Company Ever
by Playa ED on 2019/11/27 14:45
Players - DO NOT play this game. Playkot will take your money and then bam your account and keep the profits for themselves. They are greedy and evil. This is coming from a top player in the game that just had this happen to them. Don’t waste your hard earned money on a company Yahtzee’s treats players on this way.
Great game fun concept!!

Meh, 1 star... forgettable... Started off being fun then you notice you get beat by the same team... ALL THE TIME As in 90% of players all have 4 of the 5 exact same heroes on their team. Oh, and unless you spend $300+ to unlock and max for characters; or grind for over a year, you will never get into the top 1000.
Just Enough
by Jedi Ramsey on 2019/11/20 20:03
I downloaded this game on a whim. Of course, it was an add from another game. (#lol) day one was super easy and I felt like a superstar (like always). It has now been a month and I am still playing every day. You do not need to spend money to be good either. It has a x4 speed auto play button to help your progress.
Caveat Emptor
by Boxb on 2019/11/20 14:30
A description should be added to all Hero specific purchases that indicates the availability of additional shards. This is especially important for non-basic heroes whose shards have very limited availability. You owe use full disclosure on this topic so that purchases can be made as an informed decision. Finding out, after the fact, that it may be a year or more before any significant progress can be made is extremely irksome. Your lack of respect for us, the customers, has ensured it will be quite some time (if ever) that I consider spending any money on this game. PS- Suggesting that shards are available in the chest of heroes or the soul warden chest is like an employee getting to payday and having to roll a 20 on a d20 in order get paid that time. In particular, the soul warden chest is only marginally better than nothing because by and large it just gives more shards of heroes we are maxed out on. Following my analogy: Guess what employee, you don’t get paid this cycle, but congrats you can carry 10% of that check to you next payday dice roll! PPS- I still like the game, but I don’t appreciate being tricked and then having customer service dismiss my concerns as unimportant.
So fun!😬😬😬🤗😶🤗🤗

...cool character designs, clean graphics. Addictive, but not in way that it doesn’t allow you room to breath and put it down. Well worth the small pockets of time to invest in.
Looks ok but
by x12345qwe019 on 2019/11/12 18:31
2nd review: we just hit a wall. Cannot move forward, getting knocked out in every quest because I refuse I pay. hard to move forward or upgrade and it offers us to buy stuff when we get knocked out. All the characters we obtain have NO leader abilities unless we buy. Push notifications every 5 minutes or each time we turn game on, to buy better characters = pay to win.
A great game!

Greedy
by Lulu.67 on 2019/11/11 01:33
I tried to give this game a chance but you can’t level up and compete without paying real money. You are no different than Legacy of Discord. Greedy. I am not completely opposed to paying but not by force to compete but because I want to. There is only one good game that actually means “in game optional purchase”. You can progress and compete even if it takes longer. I love this game like I did Legacy of Discord but I won’t be a part of a game that forces you to pay to compete and level up.
Sooooo good

GREAT..... but
by Elli Weasley on 2019/11/10 19:16
I hope the developers will see this. I think most offers are AWESOME and usually worth it. As a kid though, I don’t have paypal or a credit card sooooo I usually have to use iTunes.... which I only get in 15s or 25s. I really wanted buy this offer, but it was 30 dollars for Azerail and I couldn’t get it, so if that could at least be minimized, that would be great!

by kenn226 on 2019/11/09 18:41
Don’t get me wrong it’s a pretty good game. I just think that in order to get new characters you need to plays for HOURS or spend money and not everyone has time for that. Makes the game really boring after a while.

So I always look at these anime rpgs and shake my mead because they are just fan service. This game is like marvel’s strike force except it has some of the best graphics I have ever seen. 10/10 would recommend.
Meh
by Ikerus on 2019/11/07 01:47
Not going to grind on the first 5 levels over and over. It’s incredibly boring this early on without getting any new heroes. Not spending money and it looks like it’s going to take forever to get another hero. This game already exists a thousand times over, but just with a different skin. I’ll pick one that doesn’t have you grinding the first couple of levels like this one with no rewards. BORING.
This game has class
by UnrealToaster on 2019/11/06 10:29
One of the best hero collectors on the App Store. Progression feel much more balanced than most games of its kind. No death by ads and the game itself is gorgeous. If you’re a fan of RPGs and/or hero collectors give this one a shot.
Gorgeous and fun
by Xsdr337534 on 2019/11/06 03:56
Soothing music, beautiful graphics, epic characters, and story modes make this game a great break from the grind of Star Wars: GOH. I have no idea what the meta is and I never spend a penny and I’m enjoying myself all the same.

Fun game... but never received a purchase. I thought it was a connection error, so I tried it again. I was charged twice for something I never received. I reported this to customer service 3-days ago, but I haven’t heard back from them yet. Until this is remedied to satisfaction, my rating stands.
Age of magic
by uncut sausage on 2019/10/25 21:00
This game is a joke. I’m level 40 and still losing to characters that are still in the 20,s. If you’re not looking to spend a ton of money, this game isn’t for you. I’ve reached my end point with this game and how they soup up all the characters to beat you so you have no choice but to spend money. Game was fun at first but now I just feel cheated. It’s no way those lower level monsters should beat me, much less even have a chance. When you’re a level 40 and keep losing to monsters 20 leaves under you something is very wrong. I’ve wasted all the time I’m going to waste on this game.
Really impressed
by Dustin Harms on 2019/10/25 19:41
I have to say, I’m not a huge mobile gamer. I just ended up here after getting a little into AFK Arena and then being super disappointed with the progression practically forcing you to pay tons of money for totally random chance BS. This game, right off the bat, is different. Still has microtransactions, sure, but the progression is totally possible without them just by playing the game. I REALLY appreciate that. Otherwise, it’s got great visuals for a mobile game, with a nice art style. The combat mechanics are really solid, and surprisingly engaging. At first, the game seems easy, but even in the first act, I found myself losing heroes, getting frustrated (in a good way) and taking the time to grind a bit to beef them up to move forward. There’s also strategy. Marks are a big part, hero choice, targeting, etc. Honestly is a really solid turn-based RPG. The only 2 complaints I have so far: 1.) The story is...meh. Dialogue is cheesy. Fine for a mobile game, but this game really feels like it could be a REAL RPG if it wasn’t for this. 2.) Cross-Platform, cross-device play. I have a nice android tablet that I’d love to play on as well as my iPhone. I’d be happy to make an account or whatever, but it’s either/or, and that’s a shame. Mostly because it’s hard for me to read ok the phone. Anyway, conclusion: A surprisingly great mobile turn-based RPG that I could see myself playing for a long time. Lots of microtransactions, but reasonable and doesn’t force you into it to progress. Very good game so far.
Slow build
by Nightshifter89 on 2019/10/25 18:10
Even with purchasing some boost, the game is too slow to build characters and advance through. WAYYYYYY too many advertisements for purchasing “extras” I get it. A beautiful game costs money to design and develop. And it is a beautiful game. But this early in the game shouldn’t be this difficult to evolve and battle. It’s too painstaking to be enjoyable. Honestly I was say save your time and money and look for a different game
Wow
by Esse99 on 2019/10/25 01:32
OH MY FREAKING GOD!! I played ONE level and was hooked. This is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for in a game that uses magic. (1) AMAZING graphics (2)AMAZING storyline (3)I LOVE the skills (4)The leveling system is easy to use Overtake VERY well developed game.
Great graphics and actually an interesting campaign
by MeItzo on 2019/10/23 22:01
Very well made game with great graphics and awesome looking hero models and atmosphere. But like every other mobile game after the initial quick and swift progress , you just have to grind and grind every day or spend money to progress further. It will keep me busy for couple of months.

Leveling up heroes
by Agray593 on 2019/10/22 01:36
The game is pretty good so far. The graphic are top notch. There’s plenty to keep you entertained and distracted from daily struggles. The only thing that could be improved is how long it takes to go through and level up your heroes. It’s annoying to have to level them up one by one. There should be a function where you can level up multiple heroes to the max available level. Other than that I’m happy with the game. I do wish that there were more ways to get heroes outside of purchasing them.
Very long tutorial, not very unique
by THEDAILYHOSE on 2019/10/21 22:24
This game has such a long tutorial beginning sequence, and very little of the class and race based gameplay that it advertises. You start off with one set character, and do not get to choose your character for quite some time. There are too many currencies in the game, to many to understand and not very much satisfaction out of winning a fight. The fighting style is very limited and you do not get to do much more than press buttons and is the opposite of skill-based.

Almost Great
by Will.I.am sorta on 2019/10/17 13:54
I’m enjoying this game. The game play is exciting, the graphics and sounds are wonderful, and the variety of things to do is good. Because there are so many different modes of play, you can always have something to do, even when you run out energy from the main game play. I have 2 issues: 1. After a certain point the levels become so challenging that it takes exponentially longer to be able to get your characters to a place where they can actually beat them. Either that or the characters take too long to level up. It can be frustrating and can lead to boredom. 2. I’ve been having difficulty making in-app purchases. Despite having more than enough credit on my App Store account, the game keeps telling me that the purchases are unsuccessful and the transaction is declined. The App Store seems to approve the purchase, but the game doesn’t. I contacted customer support, and received details instructions of what to do... for Google Play store as opposed to the App Store. There was also a stock response that playkot can’t do anything. So that communication’s been frustrating, as after a certain point you need to spend a little cash to give yourself a much-needed edge.
Excellent graphics, expensive to play.

Crap Game
by TacitusCicero on 2019/10/09 04:48
Crap game. Plain and simple. The creators actually made it more difficult to farm because “they think too many people are enjoying the game so, it needs to be more difficult since people are moving up too quickly.” Basically a big, F U to the user.

by Gjvhkjugfbjiugdeedgvhjiyteefh on 2019/09/29 20:56
Really fun game, my favorite in a while. I had been looking for a Turn Based Strategy game like this for a long time, but so many just have an Auto button that fights just as good as you. This has an Auto button, but does not fight as well as you, meaning you have to actually play the mission to get three stars, then you can do them instantly. Lots of gameplay, not pay to win at all, as paying only helps you progress faster. I would like to see implementation of a reward system for players when a friend uses their hero. Then you would have reason to add lower level friends than you other than just being nice. Would like to see faster energy recharge as you have to wait very long in between play times to get full energy. Also it takes a lot of grinding to get enough XP for your hero’s, partially because of the slow energy recharge, but also just because it takes a lot to level them up in the middle levels. All in all, good game, still needs some work. Also excited to see what is coming soon...

Horrible Game

Graphics are okay. But the characters are so terrible at attacking. Too slow.

Screw the players
by Hdjdbbdnd on 2019/09/16 12:10
Welcome to screw the players the game. Do you like spending money? If not avoid this game! Every update takes away from the players and adds more pay to win garbage. Before you would get gold (the paid currency of this game) for completing daily objectives but that’s gone now. Oh, but wait they added a new kind of resource you get that once you have enough you get to open a sweet chest! Sounds great except you only get 100 for completing every daily quest and you need 5,000 to open one chest. Once every 50 days you get a single chest. It just keeps getting worse and worse. The balancing is a joke. Every single update there’s one team that’s the best and it’s the only thing anyone will play. Stay clear of this one there’s way better hero collectors.
Best of the Genre!

GRAPHICS!
by DaiCaChaBa on 2019/01/28 17:00
Great game with amazing graphics and they actually listen to their customer’s reviews and fixed things. For example, a customer reviewed them and complained about gameplay being slow so they went and fixed that now there’s auto battle with 2x speed and there’s more things they fixed accordingly to customer complaints. That’s how a game will succeed and become really popular and loved by the people. One thing I would suggest is that add more heroes for the factions because I like the Shaggy Pygmies faction, but there’s only one character for that faction. Also, add something new to the game like having troops or something for the faction character so it’s more war like since the game is fun for beginners starting the game for the first time, but afterwards it does get repetitive and there’s nothing new that catching the player and making them want to play. An idea would be make soldiers or troops for each faction so when a faction character go to battle they can attack with troops as well and maybe more strategic like we can move our troops and battle and take over enemy bases. Just a suggestion, but overall great game with excellent graphics. Just needs more juice to it.
Fun distraction but...

New review: this is my most enjoyed mobile game since Clash Royale, yes its a different genre... still most enjoyed game. I’ve spent real money but I’ve gained nothing that I couldn’t have earned through patience. I just wasn’t patient. I also feel it’s a beautiful game and the developers deserve some money. Most in app purchases are the price of a latte some are significantly more. But you can play this game F2P just don’t expect to progress quickly. If you like final fantasy mechanics with gorgeous graphics then this is a worthwhile game. Som quick tips your initial hero’s are not going to be your long term hero’s, don’t put a bunch of effort into them. But they will carry you through the non heroic storyline. And yes you will need to reply levels but you can use orbs to complete them instantly or you can auto complete them at 4x speed. The AI mechanics are solid both controlling your characters and the enemies. Old review: The in app purchases are crazy expensive 15-30 for a hero? I’m ok paying for my games but $1-2 here and there maybe 5-10 if it’s a good game and I feel like I’m getting a good deal but never 15 or more right off the bat.
Good but
by cautionz on 2019/07/20 06:02
I liked it at the beginning but you can’t fight back of protect yourself when being attract. You can oh my hit once while the enemy hits you over and over not a fair fight. They graphics are great I love it. But I don’t like that I beat the first fight. All of my heroes are dead the enemy are all dead I am the only one standing. Then on the second round all of enemies are standing against me. It was hard enough to beat them will all of my team mates. Then I end up fighting alone with no life left but the enemy does have full life. It doesn’t make it a fair game. They are able to come at you and hit you three to found times and I can only hit them once. My fight bottoms disappear after I hit them. Like I said I began to like it. But then seeing the is not fair. I was disappointed. You should be able to to defend yourself when you are being attack. I hope they fix it because I kind of like it. I was giving it a three star but I change it to five.
Does Not Work!
by MetaWorldPiece on 2018/09/13 04:00
I’ve given this game my money, my time, and access to my entire life according to the privacy settings, and yet I get a blank screen in return. Horrible buggy update today and the game will not even load. I’ve installed and deleted and updated and repeated many times and I’ve gotten nothing for about 10-12 hours. All I’d like is some communication to let me know what’s going on. Their latest post to their twitter page over 12 hours ago said that they had some server problems, but everything is back to normal and working great. Lies. It hasn’t been working for at least the past 10-12 hours. Update your twitter page or FB page or something with some current relevant info. Give us an update on what the heck is going on. And don’t push an update that isn’t ready. Nobody was dying to have this update. We don’t need stupid little in game sounds for every little button we push. They are annoying as heck and it was way better without the little extra annoying sounds. This game is a great game with awesome graphics and great replay-ability. But they charge a lot of money for things in game and for all that money they should at least avoid the amateur hour of having their servers down the entire day with zero communication to their paying players. Rant over. Ps. Why the heck is the dodge rate in ToH so dang hi for the AI but not for me?
Amazing game, slow energy
by Fittirc on 2018/09/26 06:35
First, I’d like to say that this game was very well made from the graphics to the gameplay. I was overloaded with energy at the early levels, so I had a blast with grinding out the stages and following the storyline. Especially love the character design and their abilities despite the healer meta (literally cannot progress without 2 healers). I would love to play more and more of the game, but I just can’t. The reason? Energy takes six minutes (SIX MINUTES) to restore just one point. That’s crazy! I literally play for less than 20 minutes, wait 8-9 hours for the energy to refill to full, play for another 10-15 minutes, wait another 8-9 hours, and the cycle continues. At most, I will only get around 40-50 minutes of play time in a day. Some might say, “Just play another game in the meantime” and while I agree with that statement, you risk losing players as they find more interest in other games. Instead of keeping players in the game, the game is pushing them away. It’s a shame that I invested money into the game with Nintendo’s Dragalia Lost around the corner. I would have loved to continue the journey with this game, but an example like just turns me off even more from less notorious mobile companies.
Farm potion simulator
by Yrunkmonkey on 2018/10/24 11:28
Dont get me wrong the game looks and plays amazing, but that is the issue. From the beginning of the game you seem to be progressing fairly stradily as per usual in f2p mobile games but that lasts about as long as an EA executive telling you that they care about player feedback and not money. By the fifth or so mission in the campaign you are now expected to farm up on your previous missions for potions because hey, why play the game and level up your characters later on in the experience like most games when we can get the ball rolling right from the start. Thr game is really well made and it seems very interesting to play from the characters abilities to animations during fights. So why take the best part of what you have and make it so your players just farm 90 percent of the time skipping the actual combat for pitions or that “one piece of gear you need” when im literally i kid u not only level 7. Seriously if you want me to play and not be bored from the get go then at least try and pull me in some more before giving me the WoW experience. In all a great game to play and enjoy. In between the farming and rehashing of previous levels that is.
Great Game
by Gjvhkjugfbjiugdeedgvhjiyteefh on 2019/09/29 20:56
Really fun game, my favorite in a while.
Not What I Expected
by Swagrid23 on 2019/03/31 18:34
So. I’m looking for a new game right. But I’m short on cash. So. I think. What’s the App Store fit and then I find this game. Age of Magic. And when I get into it. It seems pretty typical. But then I notice the most crucial part to this play style. Balanced availability. In the fact that leveling up isn’t a chore (at least till lvl27, that’s what I am right now) the fact that there’s a myriad of ways in getting the resources needed to level up your hero’s and continue playing the game. Nothing is definitively locked behind micro-transactions. The difficulty and basic look of the game doesn’t seem to bad either. Difficulty racks up for sure but not in a drastic/exponential way. And if the game wasn’t locked behind smartphone capabilities(I.e. graphics) then I’m sure this game could/can have been a decent P.C. potential and console release(change up the combat to make it a bit more engaging). All in all. 5/5 keep up the good work guys.
Offline mode?
by Fabian Fox on 2018/08/01 19:10
So I’ve played this game for about an hour now, and I think it’s save to say it’s a flawless one. All it needs is an offline mode. Here’s why. When I was playing this, I was just about to finish a level when I got out of Wi-Fi range and the game stopped. It’s not a bad thing that it happened. It just brought up the idea. Why not make this game offline accessible so that, let’s say that a person has little access to the internet, want to play the game. Well now they can! Remember, this is just an idea, but it’ll make a lot of people happy. Including myself. This game is a masterpiece and this little add on will make all the difference. So thank you for reading, and keep up the good work. -Delta On a side note, there are not many offline games WORTH playing. So it would be nice to have a good, free, offline, turn based game like this.
Amazing with flaws
by Skinmann01 on 2018/05/21 19:03
I prefer to start with the cons because when I read comments, I want to know why people don’t like a game more than what they like about it. Keep in mind that I am still giving a 5* (updated to 4) rating even with my current list of Cons. Cons: - Very tedious to get started if you don’t spend real world money. Getting past stage nine takes some grinding. - (Updated: Combat animations are PAINFULLY slow! The game by design already has slow combat with turn-based. Making the animations look like the heroes are in slow motion is going to lose a lot of players. I have played for another couple hours since my initial review and after seeing the animations hundreds of times, I can’t do it anymore.) animations are very slow. The ability to increase the speed of combat animations should be added. It gets very old very not fast. - The story is a little generic (at least so far) with a turn based strategy game the story is what should be the primary motivator to keep playing and it is lacking a little. Not saying it is bad necessarily, but it leaves me wanting more. Pros: - The best turn based game currently available on iOS in my opinion. I have played Summoners War for a very long time and this game has completely replaced it. - Beautifully animated and the cutscenes are really well done. - Characters and skills are really well done. I can relate to the primary character, Roland, and he has a lifelike feel.
Potential, but...
by Are all the names taken? Wth? on 2018/05/25 00:19
The game has great graphics and it attempts to create a turn-based, tactics interface. The first few levels have mini bosses that eventually join you as a participating party member. When you do, it offers you a one time purchase of $5 to buff the new player. This seems to be a fickle deal because at this early point, I haven’t decided if I like the game yet. And if I ever decide I like the game, the deal has already expired. It turns out that if you don’t purchase these upgrades, the levels quickly become difficult to win—that is, you get stuck at around encounter 7 or 8. But your account levels up quite quickly; and each time you do, you get bonus/surplus energy. So all you can do is regained the old levels repeatedly. The issue I have is that the characters (if you don’t pay $5 each) are quite underwhelming. They require several hits to kill the enemy and they die in a few hits. While most hero games try to make you feel powerful in the beginning and level it off towards the middle, this game makes it difficult from the start. It’s quite possible the game becomes fun and balanced later on, but the slow start doesn’t encourage me to stick it through. On top of that, the menu response time is sort of delayed. It’s not really an issue until you start navigating around. I think the game has potential, but it would benefit from giving users an energetic, exciting boost in the beginning instead of a slow, shaky one.
Great graphics, familiar game....
by Blixio on 2018/08/09 02:02
I’ve only put 12 or so hours into the game so far, so this is a rather “first look review”. First thing first, this is basically the exact same model that Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes is built around. Interface, obtaining playable characters through shards, 6 equipment slots to increase stats, bundles to get characters/advance faster, etc. This game is just themed more around magic, has an actual plot and has better graphics. All that being said, it’s a nice little several hour filler (unless you use the auto complete tokens, then you’re basically done for the day in 5 minutes). I’d love to see many more playable characters introduced. There seem to be many “Acts”, or playable areas that introduce other characters, but the pool is limited and when I try to “find” shards there’s no available way to get them for some characters. AoM has started off on a good foot, but their future will be determined by the devs and marketing
Work of art
by Cebonite on 2018/05/24 19:09
Let me tell you something I tried out this app because it looked sick. When I started the game up I was legitimately stunned by the effort and hard work put into the graphics and effects. The game has storyline and much more. A true work of art. And even the in store purchases are at an absolutely appealing price so the developer did a great job at balancing purchased boosts at a low cost making it easy and appealing for players to help fund the game for fantastic new updates should the developer put lasting effort into this game or even a second one or third. My only request would be create some sort of slow motion kill like watching that blast just crush an enemy sending them to their death is enthralling. Perhaps in a patch and then I’d say this game is all you need. It earned its own spot on my wall keep up the good work
A beautiful world filled with magic.
by Dxillusion on 2018/06/09 20:33
At its core, Age of Magic is a beautifully crafted turn based rpg-light. Make your way through gorgeous environments all while leveling and gradually increasing the strength of the heroes you inevitable gather. Age of Magic has all the standard monetization of a f2p. Energy, strength walls, and hero’s that seem to take ages to unlock. Aside from iffy monetization, the game is well put together. Pleasant sound, although there could be voice acting implemented in the future. Beautiful environments that mend well with the campaign (many various looks) from iced filled caverns go lush colorful Forrest’s. The hero’s are unique as well. Looking vastly different and each come equipped with three spells. Choice is key. One wrong spell could mean the different between a 2 or 3 star completion. So far I’m enjoying it! I’ve spent some money to support the devs. I enjoy the level up packs that are offered during new hero unlocks. I will continue playing until the inevitable mobile monetization comes crashes down on me. I won’t pay hundreds to unlock new “super cool” characters. I can see this game becoming truly epic as time goes on. Updates and fixes to some systems as well as feedback from its players. Game on!
Great game!
by I AM BEEF WELLINGTON on 2018/07/15 21:41
The combat in this game is phenomenal! I’ve been looking for a turn based game that didn’t blow. The characters feel like they have weight to their attacks and I love how they are all different. I also love the faction bonuses! I am currently leveling strictly Kobolds and just need the Kobold Boss (forgot his name writing the review). The game isn’t 5 stars however. A few thing set it back a bit for me. The slow leveling of characters can make the game boring after a while because you’ll have to constantly replay levels if you run out of memory spheres. The energy system makes this even longer and, while I’ve been dealing with it, others might not. The last thing are the characters. It will take some time to get the characters you want. I’m still working on the Kobold Boss! All in all, the game is fantastic and I will continue to play for quite some time!
Must download!
by Amourfoxx on 2019/05/29 06:46
I love this game so much! I feel like I literally play it all throughout the day, it is so easy to just jump in and figure stuff out. I will say, the reason I didn't give 5 stars is simply because there are a few things I would like to see change that are pretty simple in my opinion. 1) The cost of things is so much when you get to higher levels, recently there was a silver correction and I feel like it just made things worse. I understand not wanting to make things TOO easy... But it is hard enough to collect silver just to 7 star up 1 character... Let alone an entire teams worth... 2) The rewards for "TOH" stay the same every round, which is great when you're still building up those heros, but other than that it would be nice to get some variety... And speaking of shards... When you max a character out, it would be nice if you didn't still see the option to buy their shards anymore. Lastly, 3) In "TOH", I feel like it would be nice to see some not so familiar faces on every round. There are plenty of heros, it would be nice if it was not the same 8 every round... Maybe throw in a boss node or something to mix it up? Honestly, other than these things, I love the game and I think a lot of really great efforts have gone into it!
Fantastic RPG for old school RPG fans
by Infinitekey on 2018/08/20 02:35
This game is literally a throw back to old school RPGS like final fantasy where it is turn based, the graphics are beautiful and it’s F2P friendly. I’ve only played for a short while but so far everything is high up there in playability and replay ability. The graphics are gorgeous and that word doesn’t do justice to just how beautiful they are. The gameplay is AAA and there are different modes to play for replay ability. Some of the things don’t get unlocked until higher levels because of game balance but I’m glad to see the devs put a lot of time and thought into this game. I also see that they interact with their players quiet often and take criticism and implement it towards change.
Needs work
by JerkTookMyName on 2019/08/31 15:08
For all of the things the game has going for it, there are some ridiculous flaws that don’t make sense. Why does Rolands Invisible Shield automatically target an ally? I have a healer with 75% life and another char at 100% and it still goes to the other char at 100%. That’s stupid. Quite literally the dumbest mechanic I’ve come across in years. The computer isn’t stupid, and will target your healer, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. Little quirks like that leave so little room for team dynamics and synergy, which is the best thing about games where you build your team. That’s what made Final Fantasy so good for years, and it’s a quality supremely lacking here. All of the main characters are independent and don’t synergize with each other. There’s no real team customization within the first 8 hours of play, and it becomes very grindy very quickly. Too much focus on graphics and not enough on diversity, synergy, and depth.
This game is evil, the developers are diabolical
by Sonic Bodhi on 2018/11/29 13:10
Money trap- the first 30 levels are easy to attain, then after that, as you try and progress through the story line, suddenly they start hitting you with campaign chapters that allow you to survive the first wave, then consistently kill all of your characters with enemies that can kill you with one hit- all designed with the express purpose of frustrating you into spending money before you can continue any further progress- otherwise it takes monumental patience to slog through the game at a snail's pace because of the increasingly harder levels. When you level up, then the requirements go up, so any hope of real progress without spending money is an illusion. Waste of time- don't waste your money! The only option I have since this game makes my worst self come out is to uninstall it. A game should be fun, it should not promote making monsters out of people who end up feeling as if they can never win unless they spend money. Evil.
Not Competing (Yet)
by TheAudioLion on 2018/06/08 21:54
With so many variations of what Summoner War started, you have to be prepared to compete with your competition. First of all, stunning graphics for mobile. It’s really a gorgeous game. Combat feels a little sluggish but these types of games usually do, thankfully this one has a smooth animation to make it appealing. Auto combat is a plus as this style of game can be monotonous to have to tap for skills and attacks. The lack of speed adjustment is alarming. Can be easily added in future updates of course, this takes some editing of the recording of animations, but it’s almost required for a “mat grinder” game. Loses a star for that. The campaign feels a bit dull. Extensive, but dull. But who plays these games for the campaign? I think my biggest gripe is the sheer lack of sound effects. The entire menu navigation is comprised of really great music. Stunning visuals yet again in every menu. But almost literally no sound effects. Leveled up? No heroic chime sound. Used potions to level up a hero? No liquidy magic potion sound. Equipped items, menu changes, hero viewer, level selection, menu selection... not a single sound effect. Stunnings visuals become seemingly less interesting when sound effects are absent. Any new game will need improvements and all new games deserve a chance to improve.
It’s a mixed bag.
by Kalydor on 2018/08/01 16:07
***. Updated on 8/1/18 to reflect a recent update. They’ve added some needed features and another star feels right. I still think healers are wildly overpowered. But the 2X and 4X speeds are a nice touch. And Clans seem like a fun addition. I’ll hang around a while longer to see where things go. It’s such a pretty app. I hope they get the gameplay down. And it’s a shame, because the good aspects are quite good. The graphics, animations, different character models and archetypes... I also love the team building options, what with grouping together races or classes to take advantage of marks and all. However, the super slow pacing, whether in battle or growing your heroes, is killing it for me. Also, the double healer/rez combo in Arena is bananas overpowered. I don’t like using that phrase, but in this game, if your opponent has two healers that have multiple rez and heal skills, you’re done. No chance. And I hate copying what “everyone else is doing”. If they speed things up drastically, both the speed of animations and combat pace, as well as character growth (it takes forever to gear up past gear rank 5) , I’d consider playing again. Or, at least, more often. Until then, there are other games doing the same thing better. Shame, because this one has potential.
Good but disappointing after few weeks
by Frozen Reaver on 2018/09/25 23:56
Good game! Others complain about slow start but after playing all those different games, gotten into them and then forget about them after a week or so, this game definitely give different experience! But after progressing and becoming level 35+ and unlocking a variety of characters, it seems the game really lacks to give exp potions for all the increasing characters. The exp challenge is not daily and give less and low tier exp potions than Act 3. Valley of Treasure’s exp potion is still not enough. And as other pointed out, energy cap is too limited and too slow to regenerate. It’s too limited that the top advice to use gold is not to buy other stuffs but to refill energy. While I like the game for slow start, gradually growing strong, I wish the game should keep up with the mid game experience by giving more exp potions and increasing energy cap. Instead it becomes more and more slower to advance than the start. I’m not suggesting to make advancing faster. I’m suggesting to keep up with the pace. Also, removing cutscenes after first time playing would be wise and adding an option to auto play the stage before the battle start would be great. Thanks

I downloaded this game because i was getting bored of all my other apps. Reading the reviews got my hopes up, but these days you can never fully trust all the reviews so i was fully prepared to be let down, to delete this game within an hour of playing it. But... This game has beautiful graphics, amazing art and is a BLAST to play. I made some purchases (spent about $12 so far) and im very VERY happy i did. This game is extremely satisfying and enjoyable, and i know ill continue to play this for a very long time. If anyone reads this, give this game a try and i assure you, you will be hooked. Its clean, gorgeous, and is really fun to play! By far the BEST GAME ive played in years.
Meh
by ThePeopleShow on 2018/06/08 02:09
It is difficult to make a successful game in this genre due to how over-saturated the market is. Very few games have an unique feature that separates them from the pack. This game is visually appealing. That is really the only feature that stands out and the only reason I threw it 3 stars. The character leveling (gear, abilities, star rarity, overall level) is pretty run of the mill. The gameplay is also fairly run of the mill, and I would argue that it’s pace is so slow that it makes it rather dull. I will say the in game pop ups to buy limited or one time only packs gets annoying pretty quick. It is also kind of cheesy that you can only get 4 heroes to start and there is a 5th hero that is a healer you can buy for $4.99. Which coincidentally becomes available right when the difficulty spikes and you would really benefit from another support hero.
Alot of room for improvement
by Cotner on 2018/06/27 09:52
I dont normally like turn based games but this one grabbed my attention. I really like the art style and some of the characters. The 3 stars is because you cant play the game for more than 15 minutes once you are around level 30. This game is extremely money heavy. Developing characters is very slow if you dont spend money, 5 arena matches a day if you dont spend money, energy for stages is gone in minutes and replenishes at a tortuous rate if you dont spend money......you get the idea. There also needs to be a speed up mode for the auto play and hopefully regular updates adding new characters that you can acquire without a paywall. The game has some great bones. Now just add some meat for us to chew on. For now its my 15 minute a day game then i move on to games that actually let me play them.
Please Devs Read me
by ReaperWolf68 on 2018/11/02 04:38
Not going to down rate this game because it is truly a great game. However playing Marvel Strike Force religiously, its hard for me to like similar turn based rpgs. Strike Force does a great way of making the battle feel alive with slow motion attack sequences, dynamic camera angles, and above all a diversity of animations. Very often in Strike Force characters do cool specialized take down when KOing an enemy. For instance, Thanos would laser beam someone whilst walking up to them and the target tries to protect themselves and crawl away but he stomps them out. This game needs to step up its visual presentation. And thats more than just graphics. Id love to see characters do more than swing their weapon the same way, EVERY time lol. Devs update the battle scenes and make it more epic!
Why is this game collecting personal information
by Mister Liew on 2018/08/08 15:24
After looking at one of the reviews on the App Store that also called out Playkot for their sketchy terms & conditions, I did some research and also think that this company is doing stuff they shouldn’t. I’m going to uninstall this game and suggest others to do the same, especially when there are other games like this on the AppStore. There’s no excuse for a simple RPG to be collecting personal information like my address and my name. This company used to make Facebook games and probably have the know-how to profit off of our personal information. Going to unlink my Facebook and uninstall. It’s kind of sad because this game has a lot of potential and a good setting/idea, I got up to level 37 without spending money and pretty much can’t progress anymore anyways because I’ve hit the paywall that all F2P games have nowadays. Sad what is happening to games.
If you want something new and orginal... PLAY THIS GAME
by Wbeko1998 on 2018/06/01 13:06
Honestly was not sure what to expect, thought it was another pay to win game but its SO MUCH MORE. Level system is fast and easy. Super quick to pick up and learn. The charcters are charming and fun. And dont even get me started on the graphics, its a stunning game that runs super smooth. I do have one complaint tho... i keep getting a reconnecting error from time to time when i complete a mission. Not too much of an issue for me but something to look into for the development team. BUT KEEP IT UP GUYS. Im super hooked on this game. I literally find myself execited for my energy to refill so i can play more. Thanks for the awesome game!
Great game from the beginning
by Wildturky73 on 2019/07/17 05:31
As previously stated this game offers a great continuous game play from the beginning. Unlike others out there, you don’t have experienced powerful players destroying you and depleting resources at every turn. I agree that implementing new characters periodically would be a nice addition; along with an occasional story line adventure that could be added that incorporated a allotted time frame. My last suggestion would be to have one event start, right as the current event ends. The 36 hour gap is being eliminated could add a little more fluency to the game, keeping people more apt to log on every day.
Devs, take note
by ion sierra on 2018/05/31 19:35
This is a beautiful game. Hear me out on this. If you want the game to crash and burn and fall like the other strategy apps, then input a p2w model. If you want this game to succeed and be played for a long time and to be known as one of the best, like the other games, then keep the model fair. This is a beautiful game, one of the best I’ve seen and I’m a veteran when it comes to these types of games. Keep the model fair, otherwise abandon ship and put out a 2 weeks notice. With the art style alone, you guys have made a treasure. Keep it updated and stay off the P2W and this game will last long
Left wanting more
by Enky* on 2018/07/02 12:38
I’ll be brief and focus my review on the one big thing that made me come write a review. I love this game.... I like the factions, I like the combat. I hate Lucky, Silver Moon, and Rok. I’ve been playing every day for about 3 weeks and have spent my fair share of $$$ on the game to support the devs. However, I’ve reached the point where I just spend all my energy in a few seconds and can only play about 30 minutes per day with Tomb of Horrors and Arena. I wish I could at least get 1 hour of gameplay a day, because right now I keep looking for other games to fill that extra time for me even though I WANT to play Age of Magic more but literally cannot do anything once Tomb & Arena are done and my energy is burnt out. Something I’m sure the devs of Age of Magic don’t want. Great game, great characters to unlock for synergy. Skills feel great to use, combat has a lot of potential and is somewhat balanced since you cannot fight others directly, only fight the AI of their heroes which sometimes allows me to kill someone ~2500 power above me depending on their composition.
8/10
by G. Wilkinson on 2019/04/02 14:24
This game has a lot of wins. There doesn’t seem to be anything you can buy that you cant grind for in a reasonable time frame, the graphics and story are both very well developed, the community is helpful to beginners and there are plenty of options to keep you playing. My one complaint is that the energy max is about half of what it should be. This limits the time you can play per day. Especially when you consider that the heroic levels take twice the energy a normal level does and you are required to do 5 just to make your dailies. Other than that I very much enjoy the game and have recommended it to all my friends.
Game crashes frequently after recent update, even more after the patch...
by Genome68 on 2018/12/27 15:26
This game used to be really fun. The game started crashing after every 5th to 6th battle when displaying the rewards won. I’m wasn’t too inconvenient because it would crash after my winning were posted, so I lost nothing and just had to restart the game. After the patch, the crashes more even frequently. The worst part is it now crashes NEAR THE END OF BATTLES, causing me to lose the energy it cost me to enter the battle, AND the nearly-won rewards. MONEY GRAB!! That huge issue on top of the heavy grinding at mid-to-higher levels makes this game less fun to play as you attempt to advance; it takes forever to accumulate parts and starts costing you serious $$$ if you want to continue playing.
Beautiful Game
by Elvenmarksman on 2018/09/12 13:30
Well yes, the privacy policies have changed not just from Playkot, (which is a small company trying to grow financially and wouldn’t purposely jack around info on individuals smart phones) the market is competitive and companies can not compromise with Apple and Googles extensive privacy policies for companies within themselves. The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay creates an environment where challenging chess-like strategy is needed to succeed which is a great way of gameplay to keep and hold interest. Similar in style to the turn-based Starwars Galaxy of Heroes but with their own heroes and characters. GJ Playkot.
Impresssed
by swaggymonsta on 2018/05/31 14:21
This game is really fun. The app has never asked me to leave a review, but I decided to write one because I loved it so much. The graphics are great. Nothing to complain about their. The developers make their money off in game purchases, however the game is designed to where you can still succeed and flourish without spending a dime, and it's still very fun. If you play a lot (like I do) you'll hit a wall with the amount of energy that you have (everytime you fight it cost some energy), but overall I have really loved this game, and I'm very pleased with the direction it's going
Good but behind the times
by MrsButterworth on 2018/06/24 10:58
Have enjoyed this game so far, even spent some money on it over a few weeks. Great graphics, etc. That said, combat is an enormous slog here which is fine when it’s a “progression” fight but not fine at all when just farming. Essentially unplayable without the currency that allows you to auto nodes that you have 3*. Similar type games like marvel strike force and Disney heroes have gone to not limiting your farming on 3* and their combat is 1/10 what this is for investment. Maybe less. I’ve run out of memory orbs and I’m not buying more. I don’t need a full time job running scrubby nodes without them thanks. Will keep an eye and adjust review if this is re-examined by the devs though.
Not your Average turn base game
by ohBeloved on 2019/02/27 01:53
I was skeptical at first due to the fact there are so many turn based games out in the market and all are the same pay to win! BUT this game allows you to grind for gear as well as shards to compleat character development. There is a market that you CAN buy stuff from to help speed things along shards gears in game currency but that’s at your discretion it’s not forced. The games graphics are phenomenal you can pick your attack’s or allow a AI to do it for you. I would definitely check this out so far no complaints!!
Fun game, but the tutorials can break the game
by Bapascha1249 on 2018/08/25 16:42
I’ve been enjoying this game for a few days now. At some point I got enough ability cubes to upgrade Roland’s basic, so I did so. After I got 2 more ability cubes, the tutorial for upgrading abilities came up and is trying to get me to upgrade Roland’s basic again, which I don’t have the materials for. Every time I try to go into any battles, I just get prompted with this tutorial that I cannot do, it will not let me choose anyone else or any other ability and I can’t progress further. Makes me sad :(
Not like the others
by Ptrstu on 2018/06/15 23:46
One of those very rare games that are actually fun and progressive. The graphics are phenomenal, it was actually a very big reason why I decided to keep playing and I’m glad I did. Progression system is very nice and actually feels like you’re doing something rather than pop ups asking for your money to advance. There are more content on the way it seems and I haven’t unlocked most of the content yet but I’m compelled to make a review right now because the level of polish and attention to the game is superior.
Showed promise
by CuhkhniV on 2018/06/16 04:50
Short answer: great looking money pit not really worth your time. Long answer: I have ZERO issue with paying for a game that I find captivating and worth while and Age of Magic showed promise... until level 9 of the very first chapter was near (because I’m sure there is going be at least one gamer with skill level 9000 to the third power out there that going to say otherwise..slow clap to you) impossible to beat with out paying for some new character enhancements. To be fair you can grind for a few hours on all the dull previous level to acquire enough to maybe get by but then level 10 hits you in the face and repeat grinding you must. As I originally stated I have no qualms with paying but you have to prove to me you are worth it, and 30 mins/ 8 stages is simply too soon to expect money. If it is already this demanding for money this early on how much will it cost me later? Graphic is nice and seems to have some semblance of strategy but I didn’t get far enough to fully evaluate before being asked to enhance a character for $5 which I, 3 minutes later, found out was crucial for progression. Sincerely, Disappointed
Great game - slow start
by Leo0803 on 2019/03/12 19:22
There’s a lot I like about this game: 1. Graphics are great, 2. I actually enjoy the turn based combat for a mobile game, 3. lots to do, 4. Many heroes, and 5. Lots of features to unlock. The only reason it lost a star is because character diversity at the start of the game is terrible. You basically have to get to level 30 before you start seeing some diversity and over level 40 before you really gain access to other characters. Although there are a good amount of characters, introducing ways to obtain more earlier on might retain players.
Game crashes when your winning
by Blkoniz on 2019/01/23 15:07
Several times a day the game will crash when I’m on the third wave of a stage that will provide a material that will let me upgrade my hero’s/villains to rank 5. Anytime I take a friends hero (the rabbit) into battle the game crashes on the third wave even when I win the game crashes and it doesn’t count my win. On top of all this it does not return the energy used for that attempt and it counts the friend hero/villain as being used so I have to wait until the next day to use that friend again. This problem seems to be getting worse and so I give this game 3 stars because it’s trying to slow players progression.
Good game...so far
by dangerdude69 on 2019/01/05 02:30
Great visuals in he game so far. I do agree with some of the more critical comments that if you don’t pay to beef up a character then it gets very grindy right off the bat. I did plunk some change down but by he final boss I really did have to go back through the previous missions to grind a lot. The characters really don’t do a lot after upgrading but that’s just development. The story is kinda “meh” so far. I think it would have been nice to configure your first character instead of getting shoehorned into the first guy. Maybe a choice between a male and female version of the character? Roland or Rolana? We’ll see what happens as I play.
Fun but limited number of good characters
by Cruelly8 on 2019/07/22 09:09
The gameplay is generally smooth, the graphics and character actions are okay. But here’s the real issue, just like many games- it has evolved into a big rock-paper-scissor style game where there are really only three good teams and everything else is meh. They could have included bonuses to a team for playing all undead for example but no. 90% of the characters are useless. The game has tons of potential and I am excited about its future- it just needs to get here before I yawn my way to another new game
After level 25..you’re stuck climbing Everest
by Spooky_boobooboy on 2018/07/19 17:19
Great looking game with a less than impressive storyline. Combat is pretty one dimensional and becomes rather routine. Half of your time is spent hitting auto attack, leaving, making a sandwich and coming back to see if you won. The 2 star is for the graphics alone. Everything else sets it back. On the surface there seems to be a lot of arenas, and gameplay but most wont open until after level 20. By level 25, you will have to grind, grind, grind to acquire any of the items necessary to evolve a character. My interest has waned speedily in the past few days as I am just rinse and repeating everything. Will be looking for another game.

👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
by Pryor.C on 2019/11/30 03:55
Wasn’t really sure about this game, but after playing it for a few hours I can say that I love it!! It reminds me a lot of a Final Fantasy game play and battle mode but without all the annoying running around. I can see myself enjoying this game for a long time. Oh, and I love love love that there isn’t any annoying ads you’re forced to watch either 😅😄

Excellent
by JaqenHaghar on 2019/11/28 03:21
I’m not much of a “Phone Gamer” but this title caught my attention.

Sooooo good

I hope the developers will see this. I think most offers are AWESOME and usually worth it. As a kid though, I don’t have paypal or a credit card sooooo I usually have to use iTunes.... which I only get in 15s or 25s. I really wanted buy this offer, but it was 30 dollars for Azerail and I couldn’t get it, so if that could at least be minimized, that would be great!

Game play

Don’t get me wrong it’s a pretty good game. I just think that in order to get new characters you need to plays for HOURS or spend money and not everyone has time for that. Makes the game really boring after a while.
Fun

Wow

Fun distraction but...
by Om-nom-nom-nom on 2019/01/29 10:22
New review: this is my most enjoyed mobile game since Clash Royale, yes its a different genre... still most enjoyed game.

Evil.
Thanks
I have no words...
