Great way to learn how to play the piano
by Im4u1i on 2019/10/11 04:02
So easy to learn how to play!!!!
Tried free trial, got charged 2 days early before trial even ended.
by Requires Nickname. on 2019/10/09 20:51
$89.99 is not something I can shrug off.
Free but I wouldn’t pay for it.
by Fios1715 on 2019/09/17 14:00
I have a free premium trial of three months. I’m not impressed with the lessons and teaching style. There is one great section on sight reading for the right hand which was very well done. You learn the notes and how to read them and which hand to use and where they are on the keyboard. But there is nothing like that for the left hand or the bass clef. After that It’s just endless lessons where you learn snippets of music. Unfortunately this makes it very jumbled because there isn’t a formal teaching for the left hand. Additionally because the left is most often the weaker hand they have no focused sections for just strengthening the left hand coordination. it would be better to have at least one lesson on sight reading for the left hand so I can get it as well as the right hand. It is free but after a week of going through it it’s getting boring learning endless snippets of pieces which don’t really teach you very well what’s going on. It needs more formal music theory instruction like the ONE section on sight reading would be a big improvement. I.e. Why isn’t there sight reading part 2, part 3 and part 4? Or how to read all the notes other than the 5 they do in the sight reading section in the treble clef? I’m glad I’m also attending an in person piano class as this app really doesn’t tie it all together.
Terrible pricing
by book is no. 1 on 2019/09/13 17:59
I understand that the piano lesson makers need money, but seriously, just make ads instead of premium, cause some people don’t like spending money on apps including me
Annoying
by pomodoroman on 2019/08/29 12:37
Skoove becomes annoying very quickly. It has a great defect that made me stop playing with it just a couple of weeks after subscribing. Skoove does not allow you to browse through the scores, so that you are condemned to boredom in the “learn the keys” sections because you have to play note by note very slowly so that the software recognizes what you play before it takes you to the next “page.” In the “play on time” sections you have to go at whatever speed is set for the piece you are practicing (no tempo settings) and, worse of all is that you cannot practice each page because if you stop, it takes you back to the first one. The reason for this one star review is that, since I am using the app at least 5 updates have been released and these issues are still there despite fixes being requested by a number of users.
Poor app
by Bloopdeedoop on 2019/08/25 19:38
It’s a cute app but you won’t learn much more then what you can learn from a $5 Alfred’s Piano Library book. I immediately began with the advanced level to see just how advanced it was and the “advanced” level is what you learn on page 10 in any primer level book. Do not waste your time or money. Use YouTube it’s free AND it’ll actually teach you. This? Not so much. -A full time piano teacher of 25 students
Do not get the 7 day free trial on iTunes if you have a 3month trial from amazon
by Boo621311 on 2019/08/25 08:57
I signed up for the 7 day free trial on iTunes trying to sign up for the 3 month trial. I was excited to use skoove with my new piano and missed that that the amazon code is only redeemable on the website and does not override the 7day trial with apple. I was charged $100 for a yearly subscription. Apple said talk to skoove and skoove said sorry, that’s between you and apple. This is my first experience with skoove and and apple, and so far I’m wishing I had not gotten either.
Great Idea, Very Poor Execution
by monkey111672 on 2019/08/23 04:15
The title says it all. This app would be wonderful if it weren’t so fatally flawed in its design. Honestly, I’m giving it two stars because I got it as a free trial through the purchase of a keyboard. The app is rife with errors. It often doesn’t recognize when keys are hit and there are notational errors in a few of the tunes I’ve played. I definitely would not pay money for this app until it can perform as advertised.
Does not work with Midi input
by Borfswitch on 2019/08/06 22:49
This app is unusable in its current state. The microphone mode does not consistently pick up the notes I play, and if I use a midi cable the app seems to think that I am holding down every key I press, causing it to fast forward through the notes instead of waiting until I play them. I’ve tested using a midi cable with other apps and had no problems. I contacted Skoove support about this issue, but so far they have not been able to resolve it.
Cancel subscription
by Tzu98 on 2019/07/15 16:33
My subscription will expire on 7/26. I’m not interested in renewing this subscription. This happened once last year with auto renewal and I wasn’t able to stop the payment. I was told I authorized this auto renewal when purchased the app. Can you please help me to make sure this is canceled and will not charge my account for another year? Thank you Terence
Good but wish you didn’t have to pay
by Palumbos05 on 2019/06/19 20:11
I think this is a great app to learn how to play piano and I absolutely love it! But I don’t like the fact that you have to pay so much money for it😿😿 but that’s the only thing I don’t like about it
Best but needs improvement
by Dgdg87 on 2019/06/08 16:36
I think this is the best piano tutor app out there, but it needs work. The inability for it to properly recognize notes is frustrating and interrupts flow and learning. I purchased the cords to hook up my keyboard to my iPad, so hopefully that helps, but there is no work around when playing my acoustic piano, so I'll have to play my keyboard when using this app, also frustrating. I would also like to have more control of the sheet music in the lessons. I would like to press pause and then be able to scroll through the sheet music. Right now when you hit stop it takes you back to the beginning of the sheet music automatically. At least allow me to pause it where I'm at and practice and repeat the current notes at my own pace, or have an option in the lesson to review all sheet music and scroll through it there. For what it is and the need to purchase cords, $5 a month should be the max for a subscription.

Why auto subscriptions!!
by Snap-a on 2019/05/21 21:15
Why do all of these music apps offer free trials but force you to be apart of auto renewal? I know exactly why, in the hopes you'll forget and they can charge one hundred something dollars. I hate auto renewal subscriptions! If you app is any good you won't need to con people into accidentally buying your product! Also the app seemed to have trouble recognizing two notes played at the same time.

Bad tune recognition
by bare-bear-sah on 2019/05/02 00:51
This software can not specify most of the sound I play. It waste me lots of the time to click the same key again and again just to let it go through! It’s really annoying.

Great App. Highly recommendable to everyone. Great great job.
Great in concept but not very useful
by Rivers920 on 2019/04/20 02:25
The concept behind the software is great but the fact that it has to hear the notes on the piano in order to move ahead made it really frustrating. It often did not hear the notes even when we had it turned up so we had to continuously go back and play the same notes. We have a brand new piano too. Due to licensing they cannot give you just the sheet music to play (it only gives you a line at a time). We pretty much stopped using it after a week. Wish we didn’t waste the money on the 3 month subscription.
To all the people having trouble getting it to pick up notes
by KC555444552698766 on 2019/04/18 01:26
To all of the people having trouble getting the app to pick up notes from their piano/keyboard: I have had this problem with all of the piano apps that I have tried and I figured out that if I transpose my keyboard, usually up one from the default, it will register the notes. If going up one doesn’t work, I would recommend fiddling with it until the notes register, as other keyboards may be set up differently from mine. Hope this helps! Note: I am giving this review more as advice than an actual review, so I will be giving it five stars automatically, regardless of my actual rating.
Good but....

Keys are messed up
by Eng. Abdulaziz Ali on 2019/04/16 16:30
The Keys are all messed up when you use Iphone X, when you press the “C” key for example, the app reads a “D” key, i think its a screen issue!
Why do you have to pay?
by shhansjdhsna on 2019/04/14 22:25
I always come to these games to learn like simply piano and wedrum and before the game even starts it says buy “free” trial when it says “free” it makes me PAY for the FREE trial and this makes me pay please read this and make it so I can actually play the game

Fraudulent charges
by ashr23 on 2019/04/06 18:08
Outrageous. Mentioned a free trial for the premium service. I tried to use it, but it didn’t seem to be working. All the songs remained locked except for the starter free ones and I assumed the premium trial never kicked off. But it did and now they’ve charged me 90 dollars for a year of premium and the app STILL says I need premium to play any of the songs. I tried to cancel or check the subscription and there’s no option to even do that in the app. I tried to get a refund and was rejected.

Maybe not
by $&@monty13 on 2019/03/29 19:32
This seems like a lot of money for an online course. I’d probably be more likely to spend this kind of money to go and meet with someone one on one.
Too much money
by fjsjdudhuzzigxcxhcj on 2019/03/26 02:56
Sure you may get a 7 day free trial but after that it’s 89.99 your better off finding a cheaper free alternative
Too many tooltips.
by I'll-221 on 2019/03/20 00:45
It is so annoying that this app continuously launches those little blue boxes of text. Sometimes to deliver incredibly irrelevant tips. My hands are on the keyboard and I have to lift them to escape these messages that are blocking the actual musical content I am here to ingest. What was your UX team thinking?

Doesn’t work like it should
by tortilibilly on 2019/03/05 21:57
The app won’t register notes and keeps saying the note I’m playing is wrong when I’m playing it right next to the microphone with an electric keyboard. I’ve tried turning up the volume, there’s no (loud) noise around me, and I’ve tried exiting the lesson and app together, and it still won’t work. I tried contacting staff through the conversation feature and said they would be back tomorrow. When playing with the app, it got kind of confusing when the segment of the piece restarted, as it suddenly went off beat with the tempo given in the beginning.

Simple but expensive lessons
by maskedman991 on 2019/02/28 12:21
The lessons are great, very good for starters to learn and adapt to playing piano. The lessons seem to be a bit expensive and in my perspective there should be some offers or deals to continue on taking the lessons. There are many applications, websites to learn piano from but it would be amazing if the app can be exceptional in terms of prices and lessons.

Great but can be improved
by Khalid G. on 2019/02/20 17:17
An amazing app with a lot of potential and I have learned quite a bit so far. However, there are some issues that I have noticed. This first thing is when I open the app, it asks me to login every time and I have to go through the process of logging into Facebook. The second thing that can be improved are the bugs when I play along with the animation, it often does not follow the keys and the sounds play at different times.
good but
by solidocean on 2019/02/17 15:30
it would be better if it had a setting to calibrate your mic input to my pianos notes. i have an old piano and it’s a half step off key. hard to use the app if the keys don’t match what the app hears.

I love this app. It is a very good way to learn piano but sometimes it can’t hear what your playing so you have to press your key a lot of times before you can move on. This is VERY annoying. Overall though pretty good app.

Not working
by Nagelle on 2018/12/30 03:13
I’ve never left a bad review on apple before but I really wish I could get my money back. I purchased the 1 year subscription for over $100 and the app didn’t retain the lessons that I did (over an hour), won’t keep me logged in and now the app won’t even open. Lesson learned...
Very difficult to use
by Sunddbrunch on 2018/12/28 00:57
The app will NOT remember your progress! It will tell you that you have yet reached lesson 2 when you’ve already completely all the lessons in the whole series. It also won’t recognize some notes on the piano even though I have a very standard brand new piano. It won’t recognize certain notes no matter how loud I play them. This makes it impossible to play fluently, or to play with any rhythm in mind because you are forced to repeat certain notes otherwise the sheet won’t progress. This and the fact that they don’t provide full sheets of music but the app only progresses by listening to you make it very ANNOYING to practice with. There’s also no rewind button so forget about returning to a certain segment to practice more. Overall very poorly designed and difficult to use.
Asks for too much...
by asdfghjklouvddbh on 2018/12/07 02:07
Asks for too much info before they allow you to try the app (pain in the a55). Email address, name, subscription. I feel they do this in hopes that you will forget or not know cancel the subscription. Very annoyed with this sketchy scam mentality.

Do not get this app!!!! You can play 1 thing and that is all!!! I am so mad that Everyone was saying that this is a five star rating app and it is not. The app is good at listening to what notes you are playing but I find myself going faster than the app is going and it will not read my music because of that.(also I am just a beginner) I am very frustrated that you get a app like this and are very excited for it and then it is a awful app. Don’t waste your time on this one.ALL IT IS ABOUT TO THEM IS MONEY!!!!!😱😱😱😨😨😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 PS I was excited for this app for only 5 minutes.(The five minutes was before I got it) you’ll have fun in the first one minute of the app and then it all goes downhill with them asking for money multiple times nothing else is unlocked. I’m not trying to be rude I’m just trying to save people from having to do the same thing that I went through!!
The listening portion is horrible.
by Rowandator on 2018/09/16 02:41
Half the time it doesn’t pick up the correct notes when trying to learn. Very frustrating. It hurts more than it helps. There should also be a section with just the notes and no play along or listening. They also won’t refund your money even if you’re dissatisfied. Wouldn’t purchase again.
Great tunes
by Cawh on 2018/09/10 22:39
Skoove offers so much more than other apps. I used it after not playing for over 40 years. I was able to become advanced again using it 1/2 hour daily for 6months. When my 12 year old granddaughter visits, she tinkers with it and was able to play many songs in just a few days. I highly recommend this app.
Wonderful for a Beginner
by Smm-37 on 2018/08/24 13:14
I’m 60 years old and want to play piano for enjoyment. I purchased Skoove and Flowkey. I started with lessons in both and find both very good. I find the lessons in Skoove very doable and have made good progress in about 6 weeks. I can read music and play songs with both hands. I love it! I practice every day because I want to improve. I would give 5 stars if I could slow down playing with the band and increase the speed once I became more proficient. I find the transition from practicing to the band too challenging. I also find the messages that appear while playing can be distracting and sometimes block my view of the music. I appreciate the feedback for my playing but they appear in the middle of my playing sometimes. I like the way music theory is taught through the lesson in playing, connecting the concept to piano playing instead of separately. The arrangements for beginner level are very good and are enjoyable to play. I wish there were longer versions to play outside of lessons for practice and enjoyment. I would also like more holiday music at this level. Overall, it is a great app and I love connecting my iPad to my Yamaha keyboard through a midi cord for accuracy, although I found it also works fairly well through the microphone.

I always wanted to play the piano but never had the opportunity to take lessons as a child. Now, as a senior, I decided it was not too late. I downloaded several piano apps but found this one the best. This app has it all. The systematic way the lessons are presented makes it simple, easy and fun to learn. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this app and how thrilled I am to finally be able to play something other than chop-sticks.
For the most beginner of beginners
by cacotigon on 2018/07/09 14:49
Unfortunately if you have any experience at all on the piano, this app will frustrate you to no end. Everything is extremely slow paced, and you can’t even practice a full song without going through the interminable excruciatingly slow step by step process of learning the song.
Really Helpful App
by Wenrl on 2018/07/03 14:44
This is a great app for learning the piano whether you take lessons or not. Very helpful for learning notes and fingering for beginners. I haven’t gotten into more advanced music, but I’m looking forward to completing everything you offer here. I would like the option of learning the full songs and the option of downloading pdf of the music learned. I would be willing to pay extra for the full version of songs and sheet music so I could practice without the app once I have played with the app a few times. Like, 1-3 dollars for full song and download from a separate Skoove site.

Lousy!

I'm trying to get started. Have limited time on piano and you bother me with writing a review and other crap. The lesson should start immediately. No blah blah blah.

The interface is very muddy and cluttered.
Great for beginners — advanced players, not so much.
by Tatipu on 2018/01/16 04:50
The interface is okay. I can see how it would benefit those who have little to no experience with piano. I’m impressed with how the app can pick up sound correctly though. For advanced players, it’s frustrating since you have to play by the tempo given but again, primarily for beginners so I can’t be too upset. I played a few things here and there. Songs are not the full piece though so I’m not a fan of it saying you played the full song. Otherwise I would definitely recommend this to beginners. It’s well worth the price. I remember having to go to an actual teacher and pay $ 30-50 an hour per week for over 15 years.

Great potential CUMBERSOME app
by Tractor'sMom on 2017/12/27 00:20
I bought a midi keyboard for my kid and this app was offered with purchase. We use his iPhone. Song selection is great BUT. Using the app makes you want to tear out your hair. You can't just return to the menu to switch between songs- you have to FORWARD through each lesson in a session (6 or 7) and then try to jump to the en of all 8 or 9 remaining songs before you can go back to the top of the song you were playing. Good lessons. Good songs. But I won't spend a cent on this app because they don't seem to care about user experience on iPhone.

Amazing
by apfitzg2 on 2017/10/29 17:17
This app is amazing. I’m learning piano way faster than any lesson book I can pick up, but I have knowledge of music. I think there needs to be more teaching of notes on the staff. Also, I’m having an issue where the app crashes sometimes and I can’t continue my lesson.

Great for beginners — advanced players, not so much.

Annoying
by pomodoroman on 2019/08/29 12:37
Skoove becomes annoying very quickly.
Fantastic!
by Rosemosh on 2018/07/24 16:43
I always wanted to play the piano but never had the opportunity to take lessons as a child.
Good
by Toomuchtime128 on 2017/08/29 18:54
I like this piano app because it shows hand position as you learn the piece. Biggest complaint is that the sound recognition is not as good as other apps. This becomes problematic when you are learning notes because the app wont let you move on if you "miss" a note. I sometimes have to hit a key super loud 3 or 4 times for the app to recognize it. Other than that it's a good way to learn piano pieces.
Great tunes
by Cawh on 2018/09/10 22:39
Skoove offers so much more than other apps. I used it after not playing for over 40 years. I was able to become advanced again using it 1/2 hour daily for 6months. When my 12 year old granddaughter visits, she tinkers with it and was able to play many songs in just a few days. I highly recommend this app.

The app has helped me begin learning piano. It works. Also, for my iPhone, it was more useful to buy a midi-lightning cable. To hear the app with the cable plugged in, make sure your vibrate switch is set to “ring”.
Also the app seemed to have trouble recognizing two notes played at the same time.

by fardhdkfstskktsdly on 2019/02/02 14:28

For the most beginner of beginners
by cacotigon on 2018/07/09 14:49
Unfortunately if you have any experience at all on the piano, this app will frustrate you to no end. Everything is extremely slow paced, and you can’t even practice a full song without going through the interminable excruciatingly slow step by step process of learning the song.

Great way to learn how to play the piano
by Im4u1i on 2019/10/11 04:02
So easy to learn how to play!!!!
Tried free trial, got charged 2 days early before trial even ended.

There are many applications, websites to learn piano from but it would be amazing if the app can be exceptional in terms of prices and lessons.

by Khalid G. on 2019/02/20 17:17
An amazing app with a lot of potential and I have learned quite a bit so far. However, there are some issues that I have noticed. This first thing is when I open the app, it asks me to login every time and I have to go through the process of logging into Facebook. The second thing that can be improved are the bugs when I play along with the animation, it often does not follow the keys and the sounds play at different times.

Outstanding

This is the only way to learn piano if you have no prior experience. The app is so easy to use. The Skoove staff is always available to help and communicates promptly to any questions. I have told so many people about the Skoove app be cause I highly recommend it. I am fulfilling a life long dream and have Skoove to thank.
Great for beginners — advanced players, not so much.

Annoying
by pomodoroman on 2019/08/29 12:37
Skoove becomes annoying very quickly.
Fantastic!
by Rosemosh on 2018/07/24 16:43
I always wanted to play the piano but never had the opportunity to take lessons as a child.
Good
by Toomuchtime128 on 2017/08/29 18:54
I like this piano app because it shows hand position as you learn the piece.
Great tunes
by Cawh on 2018/09/10 22:39
Skoove offers so much more than other apps. I used it after not playing for over 40 years. I was able to become advanced again using it 1/2 hour daily for 6months. When my 12 year old granddaughter visits, she tinkers with it and was able to play many songs in just a few days. I highly recommend this app.

Good but wish you didn’t have to pay

Great app, great support

The app has helped me begin learning piano. It works. Also, for my iPhone, it was more useful to buy a midi-lightning cable. To hear the app with the cable plugged in, make sure your vibrate switch is set to “ring”.
Great app except......
by fardhdkfstskktsdly on 2019/02/02 14:28
I love this app. It is a very good way to learn piano but sometimes it can’t hear what your playing so you have to press your key a lot of times before you can move on. This is VERY annoying. Overall though pretty good app.

I got this app thinking that I would use it every day. NOPE. You can only play three songs but you can actually only play one of them because the other songs are intermediate and hard. I recommend that you don’t download this app unless you are willing to pay.☹️😠

Asks for too much info before they allow you to try the app (pain in the a55). Email address, name, subscription. I feel they do this in hopes that you will forget or not know cancel the subscription. Very annoyed with this sketchy scam mentality.
Bad tune recognition
