Another subscription-based app. Ugh!
by Mikel J. Wisler on 2019/09/15 17:03
Knock it off with the subscription-baaed apps. I might actually buy this app outright for a reasonable price, but I'm not about to get milked for a monthly subscription to some silly app.

This use to be one of my most treasured apps but they've ruined it.
by RedRoseAlways on 2019/09/08 16:13
This use to be such an amazing app but they've screwed it up with all the updates so it is unable to handle my large library so I can no longer import pictures and even use the app. They became so focused on monetizing the heck out of this app - it's no longer functional!!!! Deleted. What a shame. It was good once.
WHY DID YOU CHANGE IT
by twilightgirl47 on 2019/09/07 04:04
I used to love this app because you could decide what percentage of the filter you wanted to apply to your picture, now you either get 100% or 0%. what a goddamn disappointment.

Originals look better than Prisma versions Looks like all the more interesting filters are “locked”!
Meh
by mr ichard on 2019/09/02 00:27
The styles are old and don’t do much to alter the content. The new subscription service seems predatory with the free but need to cancel in 3 days or you’re charged $29. I wanted this to be good but it’s the same thing it was 2or3 years ago but shadier.

Fantastic app that accentuates your photo into an artistic print.
Love the effects. Too expensive
by Sneefle on 2019/09/01 08:58
Love the effects (hence 5 stars) but the user experience is shot to hell by the constant, pushy, and frankly over-the-top pressure to purchase the subscription. I’m uninstalling because it’s insulting and ridiculous. I hope other people voice the same opinion enough that you realize it is a huge turn off. I don’t want to subscribe to a service that isn’t a f$@&@ng service in the first place. I’d gladly pay $20 for this as a one time purchase. $30 every year? Get real... actually not giving 5 stars. That just sends the wrong message and doesn’t incentivize the right moves at all. Adjusting now.
Something is missing
by judygruhn on 2019/08/31 23:22
Where are the adjustment sliders to fine tune your selection? You say this is possible but I see no sliders. Just downloaded the app - vs 3.13 I believe. This is a bummer because the description definitely mentions the ability to fine tune. All I can do is swipe right or left to adjust strength. I hope you see this and respond soon or I may have to cancel my subscription.. Three stars at the moment...

Charges for subscription even if you delete it!
by Beau_n_sheets on 2019/08/27 15:34
I downloaded the app, decided it wasn’t what I wanted and then deleted it all same day, within minutes. I was billed for a year subscription without ever using the app. This is just bad business. I also removed it from my subscriptions on my iPhone within the 3 day trial period, still got billed for 30$.
From great to awful
by Smolix on 2019/08/26 15:48
I used to love Prisma. Now all the good filters are gone. I understand that freemium is what they picked as business model. But if it turns into nag-ware and cripple-ware the ‘free’ ad-supported part becomes unusable. Thus nobody will bother paying the eye-watering price for a subscription. Good riddance. Uninstalled.
Don’t bother
by rbarr2 on 2019/08/26 01:54
At one point Prisma was an amazing app, one of my favorites. It doesn’t even work properly. Can’t even get to my albums to get it to work anymore. Yes, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, but nothing. Guess it will be deleted from my phone.

Great app but too many limited restrictions for the free account
by AlchemicKnowledge on 2019/08/20 14:56
I like the app but saving at SD is too limiting and there is no middle ground between free and $30 year. There is no reason why an out like this should be subscription-based but I get it, everybody in the industry is going for the cash grab for Subscriptions. I would love to see this ad for five or $10 and be able to share it with my wife.
Ruined it

by EcuadorChica on 2019/08/14 12:11
I was an early user of Prisma and I loved it. Since I got my iphone 10, I signed up as an annual user, but now I can’t use Prisma at all. I’ve made sure everything is connected properly but none of the screen prompts work. I cannot even get access to my photo library or shoot photos. Not only have I lost one of my favorite apps, I just threw $29.99 away. And worse yet, there’s no product support you can easily access. The only time I see any support show up is when someone posts a bad review. Hope this gets their attention because I feel robbed.
One star.
by /LGND on 2019/08/14 02:13
Prisma used to be free to use, free to enjoy. It has turned into a subscription service that try’s to milk 10 dollars a month out of you. How they entice their users is the classic bait and switch; and the complete stripping of features. Users have to pay to: See and download HD rendered artwork. (Only low resolution for free users) Acquire other art “packs” Be harassed to upgrade after clicking almost any in-app button. I would stay clear of prisma.
Nope
by Ajmcd888 on 2019/08/12 18:34

You CAN use this app for free
by Sldeep on 2019/08/10 14:23
Love the functionality, but 3 stars only for the manipulative onboarding. They hit you with a fake paywall to try to get you to pay for the premium version up front. I get that this app needs to make money and has to be able to pay its developers to maintain it, but the dark pattern fake paywall upfront immediately loses my trust and respect.
What happened?
by Famed Warrior on 2019/08/09 03:30
I changed my fb password and now I cannot seem to post in prisma. I erased fb and prisma and reloaded both from the app. Still won’t let me post.
Buyer Beware: love it, till they charged me
by sherbearthere on 2019/08/09 02:42
Used this free app for a long time. It’s really cool. Then out of the blue they charged me $29.99. Unauthorized. Apparently there is something in the fine print it says when you get this free app after certain amount of time they will automatically renew it with the premium pricing - this is what the Apple rep told me- who thankfully managed to get me a full refund. Buyer beware!
Love the app, but having issues
by Puglover45 on 2019/08/08 22:10
I’ve had Prisma for a while now, and I love it! The photo filters are beautiful, and the platform is very nice. It was great until recently, I tried to upload a photo, and it logged me out of Prisma. I had to log back in and try to re-upload it, only for it to log me out again. Please try to fix this! Besides that, I absolutely love the app and would give it 5 stars!❤️

Prisma keeps losing my favorites
by @lindamarie on 2019/08/03 16:51
I'm going crazy here, for the last two days ago my favorites keep disappearing...I've had the app crash before but usually after a reboot it comes back... But now everytime I go in and out of the app, it reverts back to the weird standard library pix that I deleted already...WTH. I want this app to behave 🤬 I am not a happy editor right now.
Some of the best. Subscription model is ugh.
by mr.human on 2019/08/02 19:57
Prisma has some of the best painterly filters on the App Store. Paying for a subscription to such a one-trick app is outrageous.
Really great but recent update causes problems
by MJoiner11 on 2019/08/02 19:42
So it’s a great app, I use it for editing my digital photography but the update that came yesterday causes the presets and favorites you have to be wiped every time you restart the app. Really frustrating bug.
Great app!! Just refuse to pay a monthly or yearly subscription
by hillary4prez on 2019/08/01 23:40
Look, this app is awesome and I would pay a one time price and then pay something minimal for any updates or added packages I might like, but I will not pay for this or any app monthly or yearly. Come on developers, most folks will not subscribe, so how about a different approach??
Lame
by Mr. GK on 2019/08/01 22:08
Updates = Take free filters away. I guess the bug that was fixed was the price. Now it’s more expensive. DELETED THIS STUPID APP.

Once in a while
by fhvdkbh on 2019/07/30 16:55
Good things: I love Prisma. It is an awesome app. It is really fun to look at all the filters to see which one is the best for your photo. Bad things: I gave it four stars because I don’t use it very often because I cannot really use it for anything because I can’t download Facebook.
Frustrating
by Longbdrdr on 2019/07/29 04:16
This is a cool app with a lot of interesting potential, it’s ruined by (for me) two frustrating things. First is the inability to reverse the filter! Come on! My original photo has a baked in filter I was just playing around with. Second is the frequent (way to frequent) “something went wrong. Try again later” message when using the app. I’ll give it a better rating if these are fixed. As is, there’s no reason to pay for this app.

by pothrick on 2019/07/25 18:18

Prisma is not free...
by erickorbly on 2019/07/25 11:50
Downloaded this App on a day it was supposed to be free as a promotion. Like Distress FX maybe? No. It’s not free. First thing they hit you up for when you launch is some money. First of all I’m not paying more than a dollar or two for an iOS app. I’m not paying subscription fees for any software. Good luck to you.
Insulting
by Sabinical on 2019/07/24 21:10
Oh good, the only thing Prisma changed in their new version is the screen where they beg you to pay for a subscription. Good thing their *monthly* subscription price is more than they should be charging for the whole app, period. All while constantly lying to users about how they'll never remove preinstalled filters, and then doing exactly that. These guys are some of the most unethical devs on the app store. Stay away.
So Disappointed
by DPNP on 2019/07/23 13:23
I have used Prisma for several years and have loved it, so much so that I purchased a pro premium annual subscription for $19.99, now $29.99. At this point there is no way I would resubscribe. I’ve never had to sign in since setting up my account, but today I had to sign in to my account with FB, my phone number, or my email. After getting into the app and selecting a photo and a filter, I tried to post and was kicked out of the app and had to start over again. I never got an image to post. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON. I sent a support request but have not heard anything other than they received my request. I will revise my review if I get some assistance. I did get assistance and now I can update my rating.
Subscription? No thanks.
by Snap Alongs on 2019/07/23 02:41

Can no longer recommend
by Rhetorrik on 2019/07/20 15:55
I have been a user of this app for a long time. However I cannot and will not pay a subscription for filters. I would not mind a one time fee of say 9.99. But $30 a year for filters? I’ll pass. There are plenty of other quality filter apps to choose from that are either free or a one time fee.

Used to be good- updated yourself To uselessness
by BKLA on 2019/07/14 19:04
This app is fantastic. Great filters did a lot of great cool things. You keep updating in every update makes it more and more is useless. Now doesn’t even open I open the app and it freezes every single time can’t do anything with it it’s kind of a mess. Don’t tell me did I update. I have the updated everything I want an iPhone X I want the latest iOS and the latest version of the program. You fell into the same trap that everyone else dreams. Update yourself till the thing doesn’t work anymore. Don’t fix What isn’t broken already, developers!
AWESOME!!! 😻😻😻
by Carriethegamer on 2019/07/14 15:33
This app is awesome because there is over like 400 filters and there's also a couple that make it look like real pictures or drawings. Also if you're an artist and you have artwork you could take a picture of your artwork and then put one of the filters on to make it look like how you want it to look. This app is so awesome!

They charge you after 3 days
by snibbs1420 on 2019/07/11 14:27
Warning: this app is NOT FREE. If you download this app, beware you’ll be automatically charged after 3 “free days of use”. I contacted them and they said they can’t do anything to refund my money and I need to contact apple, which I will do. They said “We are sorry if subscription model turned out to be confusing. The free 3-day trial subscription is automatically followed by annual premium subscription if you don't cancel it. It is indicated on the payment screen, we warn our users each time they activate the trial.” I don’t remember seeing an activation screen but it’s possible I breezed through it excited to check out the app. Anyways, users should know this app costs money within 3 days, so unless you want to pay, I’d avoid downloading this.

Buggy and Slow
by Bruno Paparazzi on 2019/07/09 02:42
Prisma is a GREAT photo filter app. But it’s buggy and fails a lot. I started using it when it came out, then eventually as more users came on board, the app slowed down to the point of being not useable. I offloaded the app and after a LONG time downloaded it again now. Hoping things got better after all this time, I was disappointed to see it remained slow and buggy. What a waste of a potentially powerful and famous app.
Greedy developers
by MikeyBanas on 2019/07/08 08:59
It was a great app, although it crashed basically every 3 minutes. But then they got rid of the free version of it. Whos gonna pay $30 for the premium version when the free version used to do 80% of the premium version

Disappointed
by Taseia on 2019/07/05 15:02
I loved this app when it first came out and was free to use. So many beautiful options. Now there are only a handful of free filters and the rest they want you to pay a monthly fee to use. I feel kinda cheated. Like giving candy to a child and then taking it back, lol. Why can’t Prisma get funding from advertisers so we can get free filters again? I might be willing to pay “per filter”, so I can download the ones I want without having a monthly subscription. Please consider this option.
Not Worth It Anymore
by RandomNickname00 on 2019/07/04 14:30
Used to be a fun diversion. Now it asks me to pay for everything, all the time. I liked it more when it was about the filters and possibilities, as opposed to now when it’s all about smearing the pro version in my face at every opportunity. Gave it two stars for old times’ sake, but since deleted from my device.

Great App...but need to be in a subscriber.
by TheFruth on 2019/07/02 18:50
The app is overall really good and works neatly. The price for everything a year is a lot. I think that might be okay if this was a one time purchase fee and then you own it. Coma y did a great job at building this app.

Crap
by thePrisoner on 2019/07/02 06:24
This app is literally a craven cash-grab. I left it a while ago and then when the ad popped up in my Instagram feed I figured, "why not give it a second chance" as if when we broke up last time it might've been my fault. It wasn't my fault. You don't even see what you're thinking of paying for until you pay for it. So don't. I'm keeping it PG but this app really starts off with a bad impression. So I say, Hard Pass. F for attitude, doesn't mean I can't spell.
Rip-off on for subscription
by JJJ754 on 2019/06/30 15:44

Cool but too expensive now
by Sbrookshite on 2019/06/27 21:01
For me, this app is too expensive for what you get especially since I’ve used it for years for free. And it was way too easy to accidentally get locked into a $30 subscription. I would consider a higher rating or renewing my subscription if it wasn’t quite so expensive... Side note and not factored into my rating, I miss the gagbot filter and would happily pay the $30 per year if it were reinstated (if gagbot ever works again).
you think I’m paying $7 a month?

by ScottWaters on 2019/06/27 13:13

Prisma can do anything with your content
by Sasoon1 on 2019/06/26 18:45
This is bad, from their terms of use: “You grant Prisma a perpetual, irrevocable, nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, fully-paid, transferable sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, publicly perform and display your User Content and any name, username or likeness provided in connection with your User Content in all media formats and channels now known or later developed, without compensation to you.”

It’s keeps asking me to write a review
by Karey S. on 2019/06/19 23:04

Surprise subscription
by barachan35381 on 2019/06/18 20:21
I loaded the app after deleting it and clicked the trial. It took me to subscriptions which is okay if the trail had ended. I might have been okay with a monthly subscription but it loaded as a yearly subscription and charged me $30. I am now out 30 bucks for an app that I was trying for fun. Even if it is a good app, it’s an annoying situation. Be careful when subscribing because it will automatically do the full year if you are not careful.
Taking good photos to great art

I love the change prism can do to a photo. I especially like it when I have a really good photo and see the different filters. I usually find one or two that are keepers. My phone home screen is a prism filter of a hawk photo I took at a nature center. People often comment. I’ve been using Prism for years and look forward to the day I become more consistent with my photography. I want to experiment more often.
Nuances on-the-ready

Prisma makes visual communication accessible and easy. The various tones and impressions of their presets are why I recommend it to my students
Downloading and sharing are weak
by Eric Wettstein on 2019/06/16 13:02
I’ve been using Prisma for a while. I have a lot of photos on my feed. I can’t download my photos to post other places. That’s a big issue for me. If I use the built in sharing, it only shares the link not the image. Again, I want an easy to share items from my feed on Facebook or Tumblr!
The best

I love the filters but this app very rarely works. I am not about spend any money to find out if it works again.
Not at all pleased
by MrsArmstrong2016 on 2018/12/31 02:21
For an app that I pay for I expect much better than I am getting! When I first got the app and the subscription, it was wonderful and I loved the filters and the creative options it gave me. Now I need to close and reopen the app in order to use it after I do the first filter. I get the message “Something went wrong. Please wait a moment and try again later.” Then I can do maybe one or two more before getting the message again and having to close and reopen the app. And staring today I cannot use it at all, I continually get that message no matter what filter o try to use or how many times I restart the app. I even deleted and reinstalled the app with the same issue. I know the monthly payments are not terribly high, but I am very choosy about the apps that I pay for and my expectation is that if I am spending my money I should be able to use the product I am paying for so very disappointed with the situation and thinking of getting rid of my subscription and the app all together. I do not like to waste my money.
Loved until latest update 🌹 revised
by Judidee on 2018/07/28 02:01
Slowly and truly I love to Prisma so very much- I got the coolest effects, just updated it and only have the option of about six filters and everything else you have to pay for and you want to charge a monthly fee. No way. There are other photo editing apps available and I think going from one extreme to another is just not fair to your loyal customers. You were great, and now you’re not. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 thank you for the response I appreciate it yes the old filters were hiding in the I would never have looked. I can use the app the way I used to, but again one little criticism I don’t like every time I open it wanting to be asked to pay for it. And I really would pay something I just think what you’re trying to charges too much when there’s some great free apps- again thank you.
Could be so much better
by realanniethecat on 2018/08/11 15:01
When I first signed up for this app, I had no complaint. The filters are beautiful. I love looking at other users’ photos. But there’s this thing that’s been happening consistently for the last five months. People are getting banned for no reason. They are then told by a prisma representative that they were flagged by multiple users for inappropriate content. But the offending photo is something like a tree, a building or a road. It makes no sense. And it takes days and tons of e-mails back and forth to resolve the issue. When prisma support finally realizes the user has been unfairly banned, their explanation for what happened seems like a cop-out. The solution to this issue seems obvious. Have a prisma rep check out the “offending” photo before banning. But it’s still going on. I paid for a year’s subscription to prisma before this started happening, so I’m still an active user. But I probably won’t pay again once the year’s up, if this issue isn’t resolved. If you’re thinking of paying for the full prisma app and you’ve made it through this whole rant, you might want to think twice.
Prisma is a great app with lots of potential...
by Altair Abdul Khabir (Kyle) on 2019/01/12 10:47
...I recently did the 3 days free trial of the premium Prisma subscription, as before now I’ve always been a free (SD) user. Now many of these filters are amazing and give your photos a painted or very interesting style, however, the built in camera is lacking greatly in manual controls, in the fact there aren’t any controls other than tapping your shooting area (to define auto focus and exposure) and your shutter button. Due to this, if your natural lighting isn’t bright enough, then typically the filters will not work as well. Furthermore, after playing with many of the filters and adjustment settings, as well as flipping back and forth between SD and HD mode, I don’t see much of a difference in quality. So for the base price of $4.99 a month, I’m lost as to where all these features are that make up for forking out the extra money a month and/or year. If Prisma can update it’s camera mode, and add more adjustment features I’d certainly be more willing to pay.
Not bad, but…

This is a cool app. It's got a lot of cool filters. Your images won't really look like paintings though. They'll look like altered Photoshop images but they'll still look really cool. I had a crash issue just before writing this review. I fixed it by shutting down all apps on my iPad and then restarting the iPad. That seemed to fix the problem. I think the problem I have with this app really isn't with this app in particular but with all photography apps now. They all seem to want a subscription. I already pay a subscription fee. I pay $10 a month for Lightroom and Photoshop. Currently the most advanced photo editing software on the market. The iPad and iPhone just don't have the processing power to keep up with Lightroom and Photoshop. So apps on these platforms perform one or two functions or a group of simpler functions that Photoshop performs... but demand 1/3 or 1/2 of the monthly price. If you pay the yearly subscription for Prisma you're still paying about 1/6 of the price for filters that you have no control over. No adjustments, no sliders. Yes, you can adjust the opacity of the filter, but that's it. Having said all that, I pay the yearly fee. It's taken some of the cool out of the app but I use it a couple times a month. At two times a month I'm paying about ¢80 per use. Take that into consideration. It will give mostly satisfying results overall. Take that into consideration too.
Privacy, privacy, PRIVACY!!!
by InfinityFields on 2019/01/25 05:30
I wanted to try this App to see what kind of great photos I could create with the filters, but the first thing I was bombarded with was a Privacy Update that I must agree with in order to use the App. After reading about all the data this developer and their third party friends collect about each user who is using the app and what websites they go to, I decide to immediately delete this App. I have become more turned off by how developers are asking or better yet PUSHING users to give them free reign over collecting personal data about how you use the App, your device and what websites you choose to visit. This is not in my interest to give them this information so they can send me ads tailored to my interests. Guys leave my personal data out of your app or give me the choice to ban you from collecting it and I may use your app. However if you choose to force your customers to agree with something they are not comfortable with granting.... then you will obviously find less people willing to use your product. Count me as one of those people!!
What I love about Prisma
by Media Slut on 2018/05/01 15:09
As an artist, I have found the Prisma app to be a fantastic tool, especially when it comes to understanding more about color relationships, the various mediums and where lights and darks should go in a painting. It offers many interesting filters. I like some better than others, but they seem to cater to many levels of artistic taste. One filter I particularly loved, called Abstract Portrait, disappeared one day and I wish it were offered again. Please consider restoring it! A friend and I are thinking of having an art show featuring our Prisma images. We have many wonderful ones. I would like to see more fine art filters, e.g. Van Gogh, O’Keefe, Hopper and other great colorists. Thank you.
Really cool app; really un-cool business model.
by WAGinWNY on 2018/02/08 21:32
I have been buying iOS photo/graphics apps for a very long time now, and this one produces some of the coolest finished products I have ever seen. BUT, unless you pay for a monthly subscription, you cannot save in “high resolution.” Therefore, it converted the 4032x3024 image from my 8 Plus to a 600kb 1792x1344 one. If you are creating stuff for texting or to post on a website, then that is not an issue. But if you want to save your image so as to be able to incorporate it into a print someday, you are SOL without the monthly subscription. Further, some of the filters are apparently owned by third parties, and launch begging pop-ups when you go to use them. I really like what you can create with this app, and would gladly shell out a flat fee for it. But I will not pay a monthly fee for something I might only want to use every now and again, and I didn’t buy an 8 Plus to work with .5MB image files.
Unable to log in account and Prisma unable to email verification
by L❤️V THIS!!! on 2018/11/18 22:33
I am very frustrated and disappointed with Prisma and the Support Team. I just got a new iPhone and can’t log into my Prisma account. I have typed in my email address for verification, Prisma instructed to check my email but I haven’t received their email verification. I’ve been trying to log into my account for 2 months now and was unsuccessful. I have reached out to Prisma Support Team and they said it must be in my spam box. I’ve checked every single email in my spam box and it’s not there. I sent them screenshots of my profile to let them know that my account is still active and to look up the email linked to my account. The Support Team said they can’t look that up do to piracy. I am being charged monthly and I am unable to access my account. I find it hard to believe that such developers would not look up my email address but charging my account monthly. It’s such a shame!
Do you want my money or not
by flerpy derps on 2019/01/05 03:57
If you give someone a free trial to lure them into buying premium you don’t make it so hard! Howbout that? I think “hey I wanna try this out see IF I’ll pay for it first.” and of course it’s some ordeal that already requires my credit card before I even get it? At least make a faint attempt at seeming nice while promoting. “Hey hope you like it premium sure is good. If you end up liking it enter your information we’ll get you taken care of” you might say- I should not have to even think about paying for a free trial. I should think “wow now that I’ve tried this I sure do appreciate it and would like to pay for it.” What a colossal failure of customer retention! I should be asleep by now but I’m waiting to figure out and barely expressing my frustration toward trying to attach my credit card to a FREE TRIAL. Your vanilla version by the way is pathetic and I will hereby delete it. You can expect no premium from I nor anyone else who wishes a free trial and is discouraged at first glance.
Very satisfactory results at a hefty price of time and money!
by Pompom & Sheila on 2018/03/19 03:37
At first it was great because it had very unique offline "filters". After a while I thought it was still great because the effects were still unique and suited my preference compared with every other IOS app offered out there. Then it just kept evolving until it had a library of effects and HD. I don't know if it will work offline anymore. I guess everything does come at a price (about $20) for an annual HD access. Downside is it takes a quite while to process!! if you were meticulous to details you'd want to try just about every effect. Beware: it is battery draining even for my iPhone 7 Plus!
A great app!

UPDATE: Prisma has done some updates. Thankful that some of the glitches have been worked out. I love the yearly fee and all the filters I have access to. I’ve been able to make some incredible photos with this app. Prisma has a bunch of really great people on it and I feel like a world traveler being able to see Hong Kong, Italy, Australia, Korea, the Netherlands, and many other places. There is a community with in Prisma and am proud to call them friends. We pay for Prisma app and my husband was just banned. Banned means you can still see others posts but you can’t post, like posts, or comment/like posts. We have written to Prisma and he is still blocked from the app.
Please add scale slider for paid version
by Phrannest on 2019/06/12 04:30
I think I figured out what the trouble is with the legacy filters! They ARE the same filters, they’re just applying at a much smaller size due to the increased resolution (I appreciate the increased resolution). One thing that would be great for the paid version is a scale option for the sliders, to affect the scale at which the filter is applied to the image. I’m really enjoying all the other sliders! Would also love a true rainbow color shift slider for bold effects. Right now there are two resolution options and often the lower one is the bolder image, but it can’t be exported at the higher resolution, which has the filter applied at an extremely fine grain.
Another good app gone to subscription
by kintri on 2018/07/13 17:42
I had purchased the premium of this app quite a while back. I hadn’t used it in a while and went to go show a friend how cool it was and it looks like they want me to signup for monthly or yearly. I really don’t mind if apps start out like that from the beginning so you know what you’re getting into. When you pay a premium for an app it should be yours. All these apps doing this add up to sooo much money that this model is going to fail. No average consumer wants to pay $20 annually to run pictures through filters. Maybe $20 a year for a OS or critical service, but these price points are out of whack!
And yet again this app is completely worthless
by gurlcatrider on 2019/06/09 18:30
When I open it it either does nothing or allows me to take a picture and then does nothing. It has a red number on it as if it’s trying to tell me something but I have not been able to get access to any information from this app or make it do anything since the last time I wrote about it. As someone pointed out this is something I paid for and has proved to be almost entirely worthless. If I could get my money back I would . in fact please give me my money back!
Changes in their privacy notice-beware!
by wizard2day on 2018/06/02 23:03
I love the great features, but when I went to use the app, the privacy policy has changed. I have just deleted the app from my iOS devices because while I don’t mind that I agree that they can access my library of photos so I can adjust them and change them while I am using the app, I do not give my permission to use my personal data to send to anyone of their choice. Once a person clicks on the top agreement to give permission for access, 2 other boxes appear to check mark and if you do not click in those other boxes, the app will not work. Very manipulative on their part. That permission was not there previously. They just lost a customer and in this day in age of information exchange or stealing of personal data, I don’t agree with their changes in the privacy policies.

Subscription required
by Noooooopppppeee on 2019/01/29 05:36
You’d think for an app that requires a subscription, the quality would be better than others. I decided to give it a shot, and tried the free trial, after editing one photo I decided it wasn’t worth it and immediately went to my iTunes to unsubscribe. However, the app has their own issues, and now has me signed up for a one year subscription. Though I figured going through iTunes and the app would be good enough, I also cleared my data with the company which you can do under settings. This didn’t help in the slightest as it hasn’t changed anything. I haven’t used the editor since the first try and would not recommend because of how much of a hassle it has been for an app that isn’t any greater than its free competitors.
No longer works. Update; working now
by Dragon18000 on 2018/09/03 15:15
Only 3 filters are working. I click on filters and it will go through the usual process of ' creating artwork ' and when done there is no change to the photograph. I uninstalled and reinstalled and same. It's been doing this for a couple of weeks now. Is it just me ? Update. I uninstalled it about 7 weeks ago and reinstalled it last week. Working now. It didn't work when I uninstalled and reinstalled right away last time.
This is why you don’t want to update apps...
by ekolok8 on 2019/03/31 02:31
I used to have a lot of fun with this app, and a few of the filters became my favorite go-to treatment for photos...now it seems to be completely unusable. I don’t mind paying for apps, I understand the value in it for the right apps-but recently it seems like we get hosed by developers. Some of these in-app purchase amounts are insane for stuff that stops working. Hopefully they get this figured out...used to be 5 stars for me, but now 2-as a nostalgic courtesy.
Incredible results… when you get them.
by RansomedNBlood on 2018/03/21 12:39
I really like the results I get with the Prisma app. The wide range of filters and the fact that you can vary the intensity is really cool! The process is painfully slow however. Many times you get a message to check back later because the servers are full. Other than this it's a great app... if you need another monthly bill to add to your collection. Buy a different app that you don’t have to pay monthly for.
What am I doing on Prisma?
by Occasional reader on 2018/11/10 22:07
I still don’t know what I’m doing, but so far just playing with it, I’m impressed. I’ll figure it out. Then, l’ll get really good at it. I love playing with photos! There are so many things I could say about it, but I’d rather say it with... let’s see, I’m not so good with words, if only I communicate a different way... maybe with ***music*** I love music. I know nothing about music. Let’s ditch that idea. What other ways are there? There must be something. Oh yeah, l’ll say it in pictures. Beautiful photographs. That’s what I’m thinking of — Prisma pictures.
This app is cool...in 2016
by Rocketbosszach on 2018/05/25 05:07
Prisma is in a gray area for me, so I feel like it should get a score that reflects that. I loved Prisma when it came out. It was so interesting to see your photos become paintings, sketches or whatever. It genuinely was a marvel at the time. But since then, not much has changed. The quality of AI interpretation hasn’t really gotten better and now they limit you to low resolution demo images and a much smaller bank of filters unless you give them $20 a year. Do I believe that developers should get paid for their work? Of course! But Prisma fails to build on its original thesis from two years ago and brings no further innovation to the table.
Nope can’t do it!!!
by TurbanChin on 2018/04/15 14:22
I have had this app since it was invented back when I had a iPhone 6S... I now have an iPhone 8Plus... that’s 4 years!!! Back then this app was “free” and the absolute best app for turning your photos into real impressive fabulous fantastic pics that wowed me and people I showed every time!!!!! That was then, this is now... 4 years later this app turns into a paid subscription app monthly!!!! Nope can’t do it!!! [You] could at the least give those people who originally downloaded your app first, within let’s say the first 6 months to 1 year, at least give those people the app for free!!!! Geez. Or a flat fee, I would pay 2$ maybe 3$ for this app!!!
Beautiful Processing, Inefficient Interface
by seekerspock on 2018/03/21 01:38
It processes pictures awesomely and the feed is a great way to see other people's creations. (As most feeds are.) The only major problem is that there's no way to search for anything specific within the feed, like another person's profile page. You have to go through a Byzantine process to find someone if you don't follow them, and it can take a while. It would be nice if they added a search engine. Also, they took a whole bunch of filters that used to be free and hid them behind a paywall because that’s fun, I guess.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️DOWNLOAD
by JoshNintendo on 2018/01/25 01:52
If you want an app that can add cool filters to your photos (maybe videos too I’m not sure), than you NEED THIS APP! I was skeptical at first, but once I started using it, I was making 10 copies of 1 photo because it has so many amazing filters! And it’s so easy! Just select a picture, select a filter, wait for it to load while it filters it, and there! Now you have an amazing photo! Beautiful, high-quality filters, all simplified into a super easy-to-use app.
A little sad
by Agent 47 on 2018/04/07 19:29
I’ve had Prisma since it came out. Early adopter. I don’t use it often as I used to, but I loved that they didn’t follow the crowd of ad and subscription supported apps. Today I open it and it contains ads and locks features to subscription. It’s not bad, $20 a year, but it’s not what it used to be. Doesn’t feel as good as it used to. I don’t expect something for nothing, but i would prefer to pay a one time fee since I don’t use it that often.
Simple app - should have simple price
by 1THINK1AM on 2018/08/09 11:55
I just now returned to this app to style a picture and discovered that it has converted to a perpetual pay model. The free version is greatly reduced in number of filters and quality of output. This app has unique and pleasing filters, but it is a once-in-a-while app worth at most 2.99. It is not a daily go-to productivity app that one should pay subscription. This is a simple app. It does one simple thing. The price should be simple. If I subscribed to every incidental app that I like, I would be broke. The developers will tell you they need the revenue to keep improving the app. They can also get more revenue by pricing fairly and consistently with the value of the product attracting more volume in purchases. And truly the rate of feature developments and improvements for simple apps like this are not worth high costs. You may get a few new filters. If not for the expectation that the consumer pay and pay and pay, this would be a 5 Star app.
Used to love Prisma.
by renknut on 2018/04/10 13:34
While I currently like Prisma, you recently lost the 5 star love status I previously felt. The monthly or yearly fees are excessive and now I find that filters that I’ve been using for a long time are now locked!! So frustrating and disappointing!! I’d be happy to pay for individual filters that I like for a more reasonable one tone fee than this mess. You’ve lost me as a fan. Please give us better options than this current version.
Taking good photos to great art

Most free features gone
by Mdw302 on 2018/03/04 12:49
I downloaded the app when it first came out, based on the rave reviews and the cool images I saw referenced on Instagram. Since then, I have used it occasionally, perhaps once or twice very 2-3 months. I’ve often touted it when I teach smartphone photography workshops as something fun that photographers might want to have in their app library. Now I see most of the filters I used to enjoy are gone, and there is a monthly or yearly fee. Since I am only an occasional user, this fee is not worth the investment. I understand the need to monetize, but this particular shift is a big switch to the expensive side.
IPad support for editor functions- please add!
by Z12earp on 2019/05/08 18:07
Please add the edit functions found in the iPhone version to the iPad version. I use the iPad to see detail quality and choose photos. Currently I have no choice but switch back and forth between phone and iPad to complete an image. It’s extremely discouraging that I can’t just do all the adjustments on the iPad where I can see details. Other than that I love the app, of course. Thanks.
The subscription model ruins it
by PhelineCat on 2018/04/23 01:38
Yes, good filters. Terrible subscription model. Frankly, I just don't see the justification for the cost when there are excellent news outlets that cost close to this. I hate the model so much I haven't used it in many, many months because I don't need the high resolution that much, maybe 6/year, maybe 1. Guess what- that's either $30, $5 or $20 and if I gamble wrong I've thrown $$ at you that maybe I'll never call on again that year. No wonder I hate the model. It feels grabby.
No More Boring Photos
by El Mondo on 2018/05/05 04:15
I’ve been using Prisma for over two years and recently upgraded to the pro version. Why? I’ve always liked this app - it’s quick and easy to use, can make ordinary pics look like art. With the pro version you get a ton of new filters, and can save in HD. Started posting and following people on Prisma’s feed and I’m seeing amazing posts from all over the world.
Don’t update
by qwerty26 on 2018/07/14 21:49
I always lost my settings of preferred Styles after any update, but the most recent updates have transformed this app into something I’m deleting from my phone. It’s fine if you turn an app from free to paid, but don’t start charging for designs that were once free. And some of my favorite styles are no longer available anywhere on the app. Equally disappointing as the changes to privacy and the requirement to be subscribed to their Email list even to open the app. Prisma was a novel, stand up app in 2016. But they compromise their reliability and integrity with each update.
Gorgeous app, needs better moderating
by jejune8 on 2018/02/22 14:41
I love using Prisma to jazz up my iPhone photos — you can get some really amazing results. It can be really slow to load sometimes. My biggest issue, though, is that all the “recommended” photos are half- or fully naked women. I wish there was some sort of adult filter to screen those out, since I have no choice in what shows up there. I’ve had no trouble finding people I want to follow who take great landscape, art, and portrait photos.
Sad
by Shadadl on 2018/03/21 03:38
This was a nice app and had a lot of great options. Everyone always says we don’t mind paying for devs to get reimbursement and I think that’s true for many. What I hate is you have something free or minimal cost and then you change to a monthly sub for HD. Okay. That’s cool. Then you change to monthly sub for filters you once had for free. Not cool. If I choose to stay with something free, I expect ads, I expect I won’t get access to newer developments (or will choose to pay if I can’t live without them) but I DON’T expect to lose what I already had. Before I’d give this ap 5 starts as it was unique and I didn’t mind what limitations I had. Just feel it’s a rip now.
No Longer Works
by Bailey's Mom on 2018/12/30 17:00
This was my favorite app ever. Operative word: “was” as in no longer. For the last several months, I have experienced all kinds of glitches even after removing and re-downloading the app. When I first open the app and select gallery to get to my photos, I must wait up to a minute before the photos appear, and sometimes they never come up. When selecting a style, I frequently get a message that something went wrong and to try later. I have now tried three days in a row and I still can’t get half my favorite styles. I was tempted to upgrade, but I’m not spending money for an app that does not work!

I have to say that I am not a fan of the subscription service. I liked the days when you could buy extra styles in the app. Now they force you to pay a monthly fee. And of course the app now differentiate between standard definition and I definition. All of these now have created an app that is far less stable than original. It’s a shame. When it works this app is really cool. But I can’t recommend it now when they try to gig you for the monthly subscription rate..
Subscription Only Good for Developers
by KevinPurcell on 2018/11/28 13:20
Look I get it you need to make some money. But subscriptions or not the way to do it. Are you still like this app a whole lot. That was when I could use an in app purchase and buy the filters years ago. But the subscription model has killed this app and I will not use it unless they change. Sorry guys a subscription is only good for a major piece of software like adobe Photoshop or Microsoft office. Apps should cost one price one time and that’s it. If you can’t figure out ways to get new customers then it just means the apps either are talented and creative or not clued into what people want.
Unauthorized $21 charge = DELETED
by Needle And Groove on 2018/08/17 18:02
I downloaded this app two years ago when it was free and it was ok. It crashed half the time but I didn’t use it that much but when it worked, the results were cool and it was a free app so I just dealt with it. I wake up last week and upon checking my phone, I see that I was charged $21 from the App Store overnight. Upon investigating, I discovered Prisma automatically charged me for a one year subscription that I did not authorize. I called Apple support and got my money back, and then promptly deleted the app. It’s a nice app but definitely not worth $21. I also don’t appreciate the shady unauthorized charge on my account
Was nice until the owners got greedy...
by N0GREY on 2018/09/09 23:28
When the app first came out it was pretty nice. I enjoyed using the various pre-fab “filters”. Somewhat like a cheapened version of Corel Photo paint or Photoshop. Then after about a year or so, they decided that somehow it was worth a monthly or yearly subscription price. Sorry, maybe a one time $3.99 fee but nowhere near good enough for a subscription. And if you want HD that’s the only way to get it. Ha! What a joke!
Simply Marvelously Addicting⚡️
by CWMom2017 on 2019/05/07 23:07
✨Must have. Absolutely. Positively. Do It! Do not hesitate. This is the app you’ve been wanting and may have not realized your missing piece until now. It’s Prisma. It’s Prismatic. It’s a feast for the eyes and then some dessert too. Stimulating. Effective. Cool photo sharing community. Nothing too bizarre, unless I suppose you go looking. I appreciate the fellow photo bug people, their creativity and artistic viewpoints here.
Inappropriate
by Gammongirl on 2018/03/05 23:48
As a younger person I love trying out new things especially when it comes to photo editing and art. When I first got this app the only thing that you could do on it was upload your photo and then put a filter on it. I haven’t been on the app in a while but when I got back on it I was scrolling through the public area where you could post photos I was disgusted by the amount of inappropriate nude and sexiest photos they were on it I will not be using this app anymore and I think that parents as well as children should know that this is not a good app neither appropriate.
So great!
by Scatlett T on 2018/08/26 14:16
I love taking pictures of my animals but the I don’t like the iPhone filters. When I saw this app while I was scrolling looking for a photo editor I saw that it had in app purchases and I didn’t think it was going to be as great as it is. The prices aren't bad, if you choose to buy the full version $20 a year really isn’t that bad for all that you get.

Meh
by mr ichard on 2019/09/02 00:27
The styles are old and don’t do much to alter the content. The new subscription service seems predatory with the free but need to cancel in 3 days or you’re charged $29. I wanted this to be good but it’s the same thing it was 2or3 years ago but shadier.

by judygruhn on 2019/08/31 23:22
Where are the adjustment sliders to fine tune your selection?

I would love to see this ad for five or $10 and be able to share it with my wife.

by EcuadorChica on 2019/08/14 12:11
I was an early user of Prisma and I loved it.
Nope

DELETED THIS STUPID APP.

by fhvdkbh on 2019/07/30 16:55
Good things: I love Prisma.

No thanks.

by Rhetorrik on 2019/07/20 15:55
I have been a user of this app for a long time.

Anyways, users should know this app costs money within 3 days, so unless you want to pay, I’d avoid downloading this.

by Bruno Paparazzi on 2019/07/09 02:42
Prisma is a GREAT photo filter app.

All these filters you have on your iPhone already so you literally have no use for this app. These bozos tryna play all you.

My favorite photo app.

Love most of the filters here, my favorite being Vivid. It makes my photos pop.
Great App...but need to be in a subscriber.
by TheFruth on 2019/07/02 18:50
The app is overall really good and works neatly. The price for everything a year is a lot. I think that might be okay if this was a one time purchase fee and then you own it. Coma y did a great job at building this app.

I use Prisma to give my bands photos a different look. Sometimes I create so many versions that it’s hard to decide which one to use!
Crap
by thePrisoner on 2019/07/02 06:24
This app is literally a craven cash-grab.
Rip-off on for subscription
by JJJ754 on 2019/06/30 15:44
Subscription price is just ridiculous combined with no license for commercial use. The developers should be ashamed!

I’m not.

by ScottWaters on 2019/06/27 13:13

by Sasoon1 on 2019/06/26 18:45
This is bad, from their terms of use: “You grant Prisma a perpetual, irrevocable, nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, fully-paid, transferable sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, publicly perform and display your User Content and any name, username or likeness provided in connection with your User Content in all media formats and channels now known or later developed, without compensation to you.”

It’s keeps asking me to write a review
by Karey S. on 2019/06/19 23:04
Every time I try to use a filter a thing pops up that says to write a review. Also it can be slow sometimes and takes a while to work.
Taking good photos to great art
by JanBush9 on 2019/06/18 19:38
I love the change prism can do to a photo.

Not bad, but…
by Gitarzz on 2018/06/06 03:29
This is a cool app.

Taking good photos to great art
by JanBush9 on 2019/06/18 19:38
I love the change prism can do to a photo.
Like the old version better
by SoonerJAG on 2018/04/13 10:59
I have to say that I am not a fan of the subscription service.
