Doesn’t work well with acoustic guitars
by cacotigon on 2019/10/28 23:31
Constantly complaining that it can’t hear the guitar, and when it does work, it registers incorrect frets. So that’s fun. By comparison Yousician seems to have a much more robust pitch detection algorithm in place.
It won’t even work!!!😱😱😱😱
by Lester Ballard on 2019/10/28 00:12
Every time I play it, it says I’m not playing the E string! It takes away all my points! In every single game it happens, even if you Chang songs it will happen ! I do not recommend this app,you will not like it.

Hello, this app gets 5 stars because of the constant updates being put out all the time. I have seen so many people complain about the g chord with the pinky but it sounds better to me so thank you for putting that g chord type in. I really wish that y'all could extend the free time to 30 mins or longer. I don’t currently have the funds to buy pro and I have some free time throughout days that i would like to be using this to learn guitar. The note recognition is great and works almost perfectly for me. The only problem i have with it currently is that i have to slowly strum the chords which at the moment is okay but I know songs that make you strum chords at around 100-110 bpm and if those songs are added it will make them impossible. Overall the best guitar app i have seen and it will be worth the money once i can afford it. One question, will this be available for download on windows, macs, and other computers? Thanks and please keep updating this.
Has Potential
by jestlui on 2019/08/08 18:41
Overall I find the song selection better than Yousician, but their note recognition isn’t to par yet. I can play Yousician for hours with only a few moments where it misses a note I’ve played, but Amped is lucky to get 4 out of 5 at times. I’m still using it because regardless of what Amped thinks I’m playing, I know I’m playing correctly and the practice is fun. Improve your recognition, add more songs to library, and this is a great app.

Not really a star since I really can’t use this app.
by merrilles on 2019/05/30 21:00
I have MRI hearing aids which are connected to my iPhone XS Max. I would have to disconnect them in order to use headphones and reconnect them afterwards. Not hard to do, but an annoyance. Also, I would have to buy an adapter in order to use my headphones with my phone. We all know that Apple got rid of the headphone jack. Another extra expense in order to use the app. There are other good guitar apps out there to use. The developers need to look into these issues, especially if they want iOS users to use the app without extra cost.

Pretty significant technical problems
by Charliezx245 on 2019/05/02 01:37
I really like your song selection and the interface is simple but elegant! That said, there’s pretty terrible lag whenever I slow down a song. Practicing even at 50% is almost impracticable. Practice at the slowest speed is basically impossible. The app also crashes not infrequently. Finally, for some reason, notes are not being picked up by my mic. I do have new headphones and they’re not terrible. I hope you address these issues soon. At the very least, I hope you make this app accessible on my Mac. If you fix these issues, you might even be a better app than Yousician. Good luck!
Great App - Compliments my Weekly Lessons
by DelrayCruiser on 2019/04/29 05:35
UPDATE - 4/29/2019 First and foremost - I highly recommend this app. Second, I’m 52 years old and started taking guitar lessons with an instructor two years ago. I use this and Youcisan This app is an effective tool to compliment what I learn with my instructor. And if I struggle on a song in AMPED, i can show him where I’m having a problem and he will give me tips and advice on how to approach it. There is a variety of songs and music genres which really makes AMPED a lot of fun. I especially like the training method and levels to learn specific songs. It’s a great app and went ahead and paid for a whole year because it was such a good deal. I would give it five stars, but so far I haven’t found the video tutorials to be as useful as other programs. For example I had to figure out how to play in practice mode, looping and adjust the speed on my own. I watched intro, but did not see this there. I still don’t understand what the point levels mean. The first basic lesson says 321 stars. Somehow I ended up with 341 stars out of 321. What does that mean? I don’t understand XP points either. How do I earn them? What are they? I searched google, but I’m pretty sure XP points don’t have anything to do with fortnight or dungeons and dragons. Each level tells you how many songs you played. The natural tendency is tap the number of songs to see what you played and the lessons associated with them so you can go back and do them again if you like. But not the case. Would suggest that feature. The progress view is cool, but you literally need to to tap a song to see if you’ve played the other three songs in the lesson and the number of stars earned or yet to earn. I’m sure more improvements are coming. In short, I recommend the app. Love the songs. Love the exercises. Love the interface. My only concerns are related to progress tracking, review, and definition of the recognition.
The way you teach the G-Chord needs to change.
by MOBAFanatic on 2019/03/27 22:13
Why the H-E-Double hockey sticks do you teach the player to use their pinky on the G-chord? Do you know how near impossible that is to do without muting some strings? Why are you teaching such a hard way to play the G-chord when there is an easier way that doesn’t require the pinky finger? I was really enjoying the app(better than the competition in some aspects) until I ran across this lesson...I got so frustrated trying to learn the way the app wanted me to, that I went back to Yousician to learn the G-chord there instead, only to find that there is an easier version of the G-chord that Amped does not teach you... After trying that version I went back into amped to complete the lesson but it was very confusing to be told to use my pinky...I really wish Amped would change this, and because there is no way to contact the developer on their website I decided to use this form instead. I highly recommend this app to those of you that are not the developers reading this, and just because I think their way of teaching the G-chord is frustrating and dumb doesn’t mean I don’t recommend this app still, I really enjoy it, for the most part.

Where’s the content?
by 2xBelow on 2019/02/06 00:19
Love the app...however when I got through the first module of basic skills, it says “more content coming soon” but, the additional modules recommend you get all the way through the basic first. I am at 158/321 possible stars and through the first 30 basic lessons. When will additional content be added to the basic, or am I not doing something to unlock additional content?

I am 7 weeks in and more than 350 lessons and I can feel the change. The option between classical, folk, country, rock and metal keeps it interesting. The practice features that allow you to slow down and practice a piece are excellent. I would love to be able to isolate and repeat trouble spots. While I am an accomplished musician of many years it is really good to fine a way to practice with accompaniment. If you are looking for an Application that will change you and produce results get this app, get and use it. Trust me you will not be sorry.

I really like this app and even more than Yousician. I feel like the microphone sync is way more accurate than Yousician’s but the huge downfall to this app it has no slow down feature to play songs at a slower pace like Yousician can and no ability to rewind in songs also in like Yousician can. My only concerns are related to progress tracking, review, and definition of the recognition.

I am at 158/321 possible stars and through the first 30 basic lessons. When will additional content be added to the basic, or am I not doing something to unlock additional content?

Doesn’t work well with acoustic guitars
by cacotigon on 2019/10/28 23:31
Constantly complaining that it can’t hear the guitar, and when it does work, it registers incorrect frets. So that’s fun. By comparison Yousician seems to have a much more robust pitch detection algorithm in place.
It won’t even work!!!😱😱😱😱

Overall I find the song selection better than Yousician, but their note recognition isn’t to par yet. I can play Yousician for hours with only a few moments where it misses a note I’ve played, but Amped is lucky to get 4 out of 5 at times. I’m still using it because regardless of what Amped thinks I’m playing, I know I’m playing correctly and the practice is fun. Improve your recognition, add more songs to library, and this is a great app.

I would like to be able to use the app. I have an iPhone X and the app just immediately crashes after loading. I will update my review once it runs properly.

Every time I play it, it says I’m not playing the E string! It takes away all my points! In every single game it happens, even if you Chang songs it will happen ! I do not recommend this app,you will not like it.

I was a bit skeptical but it is worth it. Kind of like guitar hero but for real.
Doesn’t work well with acoustic guitars
by cacotigon on 2019/10/28 23:31
Constantly complaining that it can’t hear the guitar, and when it does work, it registers incorrect frets. So that’s fun. By comparison Yousician seems to have a much more robust pitch detection algorithm in place.
