Great App, User Loop Organization Needed
by MeloMcFLY on 2020/11/09 05:54
Absolutely love this app for loop manipulation and is a great way to find inspiration for starting a song. The pitch shifting and time stretching capabilities are excellent. Adding the following makes it 5 stars: -ability to organize user loops into folders/packs -loop search function -reverse loop -mark favorite loops

Great app, badly needs User file organization
by Dubstep fan on 2020/09/19 05:24
I really wish Ampify would make an in app purchase to have a feature to create your own packs, it’s really difficult to see your files if you import a significant amount. Launchpad app has a slightly better organization system for importing your own files. It’s a great app though, create combinations of sounds you wouldn’t have imagined and record from other apps via audiobus. Amazing for that alone.
One of the best!!!!
by is it here? on 2020/09/14 02:45
This all sat in my phone for a month before I got bored and began exploring it. Omg I can’t believe how powerful but amazingly simple to use little app. I’ve been looking for this!!!! Yeah it doesn’t have the advanced editing features some of my others have but it’s still super fun to play around with. I’ve made a couple bangers already. Awesome that you can’t shoot it over to Launchpad so you can play your “clips” individually almost like an Ableton environment. I hooked up my Launchpad mini and was super excited but unfortunately it doesn’t work with that app even though on the box it says it does. Man if I could build em all in Blocs Wave, shoot the individual shots over to launchpad app, plugin the mini, open GarageBand or Fl Studio or whatever DAW you want and use the IAA to have your launchpad and record? Hell I might never ever need a laptop again. AMPIFY PLEASE MAKE IT SO!!!! I will love and support you forever! Haha Edit: I just read on Launchpads info that it does do that but only with iPad. Womp womp womp. Guess I gotta but an iPad now. Wish you could make that happen for iPhone.
Used to be my favorite
by Rivera guitar amps are best on 2020/09/09 01:16
This was my favorite app. In fact I was using it almost exclusively for my music production and had left several favorable reviews. But it no longer works on my iPad Air (first generation). When I tap a screen element (or other gesture) there is a considerable delay before the app responds. This has been going on more than a year now and I finally gave up trying a few months ago. It’s just been unusable. Now I never use my iPad since I lost interest and do all my music on the Mac again in Ableton Live and Reason.
Misrepresented as “making music”
by Studio64 Reviews on 2020/09/08 05:36
App is visually designed well. Layout is sharp and clear. Why 2 stars? It is not for “making music” as it calls itself. It’s a layering interface for pre made loops other people made. If you want to layer music someone else made, and pawn it off as your own this is for you.
Inspiration for creativity

Blocs Wave is a unique tool for inspiring creativity, It allows me to manipulate wav files into different shapes. It adds color, and movement to my compositions. Or days when creativity isn’t flowing, you’re not inspired. Blocs Wave comes through!
My whole family digs this app!
by Kingjust22 on 2020/08/15 06:01
I came across this app by a Youtuber recommendation, as a means to get ideas out and formulated very quickly. It helps me a lot, specifically when I need to be creative, but I have that starters “block”, making it difficult to get going. It’s also a great way to pass time and still be productive. As for my kids, my 11yr old daughter has become interested in it, as she plays trombone in school, but gets bored with their music. It allows her to expand her thinking. But for my 7yr old son?... this app has awakened a beast. If I let him, he will sit on my iPad all day just making beats. As it is, I have had to somewhat repurpose my iPad around this app and a few others. So yes, I could easily give it 5 stars. I do have a request though. Is it possible to include a search feature? Maybe even a subgroup/folder input feature? I’ve input many of my own sample packs, but it has been a tedious venture, being that I am only allowed to input files. If you can make it where folders can be input, and they would still remain accessible as subgroups within the app... I would be over the moon for this app.
Metronome for 5 stars
by dgbrannon@hotmail on 2020/08/09 16:06
Pretty amazing rompler app, that provides high quality loop libraries. Do yourself a solid and in-app purchase the pro upgrade for $9.00. Don’t buy the add-ons separately. My only con is that the Slicer [REC] section does not have a metronome. A metronome is ESSENTIAL for reprogramming the slicer chops into new loops. Please add that feature during the next upgrade and I’ll update my rating to five stars.

Looping made easy!!
by John Bartholomew on 2020/06/06 19:53
This app really has a lot of really dope potential. Love how easy it is to put loops together with the sound packs you can buy in app. The loop packs are filled with really organic sounds and textures, and allow for easy manipulation within this app. Real easy to adjust pitch of sounds for the overall mix. If I had any suggestions for the developers, it would be to allow more than 8 bars for the slicing of samples. Also, adding support for AuV3 plug ins as well as importing your own wav files/sounds would take this to another level. Love this app tho and will continue to use it heavy as is.

The Perfect Mobile Video Score Solution
by Rah is on 2020/05/09 20:10
I edit a lot of videos on my iPad and needed a tool to score my short edits with. Blocks is so amazing because I can catch a vibe then export that to separate stems, then complete the score in Luma Fusion. It’s really a perfect companion for mobile video scoring.
Can you put a metronome for beat timing.

Can you add a metronome for beat time ?
Great Sounds..
by Septimo73 on 2020/04/27 06:32
Sounds great but the system is more like a loop player only good for demoing the sound packs in series since there is no sequencer. The auto time-stretch algorithm is kinda wonky.. low quality. The sample “editor” is not an editor at all.. and the slicer system could use an update to make it more useful. It’s Paralyzingly limited but still Great for exporting a good sound source into an actual DAW.
Great app, pity that older IOS versions, lose access to IAP store
by GnomeAmplitude on 2020/04/25 11:53
Edit: Thank you for reaching out. I now understand as to why technically a user running IOS 10 no longer has access to the Blocs Wave IAP store. Basically all IOS below 12 are blocked from IAP store due to a security risk? I wish there was a work around. From a users perspective it does make me wonder if I should keep investing in IAPs if at some point when IOS 15 or whatever is out, IOS 12 users will suffer some similar fate if they chose not to upgrade to latest IOS. Apple often breaks things with latest releases and stability on our music devices is something we very much appreciate, so Im a late update adopter, if you will. Hope I never have to reinstall the app as Ill never get my IAPs back (on IOS 10) Keep up the great work!

by Uel Magneto on 2020/04/12 09:23
I’m able to track all midi files and exports within one domain. I can travel with my sounds and draft chord keys, tempo, and sequencing. It’s an excellent tool. I consider if the app would sync to other formats of midi besides Ablenton Live, It will be a hit. I’m trying to sequence a Roland MV8000 for old ADAT tape format..I know legacy stuff! But we have millions on hours on tape and we working on digital transfers. Long story short, your app made it happen !!!

number one feature wish
by iona 6 on 2020/04/10 15:20
I enjoy working with Blocs Wave, it really is great for generating ideas. If I could have one wish for a new feature it would be a record function that would work while "playing" scenes. I have made many chops that just do not play back exactly the same way when exported to either Launchpad or Ableton Live as they do when I'm switching between scenes in Blocs Wave--this is because in Blocs Wave you can essentially switch between two or more scenes that are running simultaneously rather than stopping and starting the scenes on the beat as in Launchpad or Live. Would love to capture those grooves via audio inside the app and then export to DAW. A text-based manual PDF would also be helpful! ETA: Installed today's (10 Apr 2020) update, now the Buy buttons in the marketplace are grayed-out. Please fix, there are packs I want to buy!
Strange background behavior
by capppbruin on 2020/04/06 05:14
My phone’s battery was draining really quickly and it was getting very warm to touch and when I checked the battery usage stats, this app which I have not used in weeks was the number one consumer of battery at over 7.5 hours of background activity. What is this app was doing in the background for 7.5 hours when I haven’t used it in weeks? Seems very fishy. At best, there seems to be an issue with the app and what it tries to do in the background.

Odd, worrrisome behavior
by Darth Ridiculous on 2020/03/11 23:35
I just noticed that, over the course of the last ten days, this app has been running in the background, unbeknownst to me, for a total of 245 hours — and I never opened or launched the app even once during that time. I’m sure there’s nothing nefarious going on (this isn’t Facebook, after all), but that’s still a very serious bug, indeed. I’m surprised the iOS would permit any app to misbehave so egregiously.

Battery drain when not in use
by Filter_Emphasis on 2020/03/01 02:33
I don’t know what you just did with your code development department but Blocswave just got uninstalled on my iPad as since a recent update it began continuous running in the background even when properly closed. My iPad went from over a week of battery life on standby and daily use to 2 days if I was lucky. The iOS battery feature shows usage and Blocswave was number one by a huge order of magnitude, like in the 90% zone. And I had not used Blocswave during that measuring period. It’s uninstalled because the developers introduced a show stopper of a bug in a recent update. Recharge every two days just to have Blocswave installed and not even running - no way

by Sky dawg on 2020/02/26 14:59
As others mentioned it would be great to include major keys as well. Also, for melodic tracks it would be super helpful to indicate what chords or chord progressions they are based on. And more acoustic sounds, of course!
Drains battery in background
by LastTry on 2020/02/23 05:04
I haven’t been using this app. After my iPad ran low in battery, I checked and saw that it consumed 48% of battery while iPad was idle. I don’t know what it was doing. I deleted the app.
Might be a decent app, horrible battery drain
by brennanmh on 2020/02/04 04:31
Title says it all. Even when the app wasn't running and background app refresh was off, it still manages to drain my iPad battery, lid closed, on sleep in about 12 hours. Can't say much more because I had to remove it.

by Jukeboxhero00 on 2020/01/28 23:07
I use this to get my mind rolling on ideas, I really love it for that. I do with that touching a track toggled it on/off instead of soloing it. I would rather that so I can add and substract certain segments as desired during recording
Really Fun App!
by Applesnoranges99 on 2020/01/20 09:08
Just rediscovered this app which I’ve had on my iPad for awhile. I have all three novation apps. This one and launchpad are similar as they both are sample based... but with this guy you can record into to it and create on the fly looped samples and it acts more like a multitrack recorder/looper. The slicer is cool and the eq works great. The sound packs are good and there are many to choose from. The one thing this apps needs is effects. Just a basic delay, reverb and chorus/flanger that you could apply to individual tracks. With that this app would be complete. Otherwise this app is a lot of fun and easy to use. The user interface is well laid out and the graphics look great. The sound packs are reasonably priced as well. Rock on novation and thanks for the great software!
Horrible!
by Mr. Glock8 on 2020/01/09 08:37
This used to be one of my favorite apps. I made so many incredible beats from the awesome sound packs. Then I lost my phone and all my music. Needless to say I was highly upset. I stoppped making music for awhile. I decided to start again to see if I could recreate my old songs. But it seems like all of the sound packs have changed and I can’t locate any of the sounds that I had before. What’s worse is it seems like the packs no longer mesh. I don’t think I’m going crazy because I’m using other apps including sister app launch pad( which I love!) and I’m able to create some really awesome beats. Please explain what the heck happened? I don’t even feel like using this app ever again and I wasted a lot of money purchasing the sound packs! I wish I could get my money back but I know that’s not gonna happen. And it seems all my past creations are gone as well. I’m so mad I don’t know what to do! Don’t waste your time or money on this app! But that’s just my opinion. It changed and for the worse!
Nice for setting up quick samples and loops
by Rhmachote on 2020/01/07 06:04
Easy to use. With no experience you can put together nice rhythms and beats even a short song. Nice tools to Chung sounds and slice and cut sections. Great to export to launchpad
Great app!
by delonP on 2020/01/01 08:09
App is ok but i have asked for reverse, echo, reverb, more tracks, better sampler, able to control with Bluetooth controller many times, with no response. Are you guys done updating this app? This could be a great app if developers would listen to what we want .

Solid, Serious Music Creation App
by RashiHonser on 2019/10/06 02:55
The idea of making music on a phone or tablet seems like it would be just for play, but I am gotten real, great songs pieced together starting here with this app. The quality and diversity of their sound packs is amazing. Being an iPhone user you would think that you won’t get anything better than garage band-but trust me, get this app, maybe the companion apps also and some sweet in app purchases for two bucks each (not required but I have probably bought 30 of the sound packs because they are so good) and you will really expand your creativity and creation ability three times over. This is an amazing product and all of the stuff they put out has been stellar and I’m so happy it exists, and that I can get real songs down, not just tiny ideas.
A must have for Ableton users!
by Gradea27 on 2019/09/11 22:40
I use this App daily to make tracks and songs. Easily transfers to Ableton 10 and the samples sound great. But the ease of use and simplicity is its greatest feature. The added features like chopping samples, EQ and importing are also worth the cost especially if you are using a tablet. Love it!

Good, but minor feature that Launchpad has that Blocs wave doesn’t
by Wonder Lopez on 2019/08/28 17:49
That minor feature is that some DnB soundpacks like sounds Osmosis like Fluid Electronic or Hydra Electric play significantly slower on Blocs wave as opposed to how Launchpad plays it. Can this be fixed if it is a problem so Blocs wave can have that feature?

by CDaze on 2019/07/01 16:36
I couldn’t possibly call myself a proper musician, yet this app has led me to spend over 100 hours creating little beats and song ideas. The simplicity of it is brilliant. The team behind the app clearly puts a lot of love and work into the sound packs (I’ve bought nearly all of them now). They seem to update with new packs roughly once a month which keeps the app fresh and fun. Loses a star for three things. 1) The sound packs could use more variety. You can tell just from the type of available sound packs that the developers are London-based electronic music junkies. That’s all fine and good, but this app could be *amazing* if there was more variety. Give us a pack of just solo classical piano! Give us African drumming! 2) This app consumes battery like nothing else. I’m not really sure why, but it does. I have a new iPad Pro and the battery is under 50% after one hour of using Blocs Wave. And 3) It’d be even more fun if it played better (import/export) with other apps. Aside from those three things, it’s fantastic. Keep up the great work, guys!
A++ app

I love this app to death. I never write reviews😁. I have one request, if somehow I can flatten a sound and change the pitch of each track. This way I can blend the tracks better. In so many words, independent track pitch, that’s all it’s missing, I’m not going to be greedy.

An awesome creativity igniter
by I own the pc version on 2019/05/12 15:48
I have been using this app to assist in overcoming writers block and also to help spark new ideas. The samples are top notch and the UI is designed in such a way as to be intuitive and inspiring. All samples come pre-defined with tempo, key, type (melodic, percussive, bass, drums), and can be mixed and matched with ease. The most valuable feature is the automatic time stretching allowing super experimental genre blending. It has your basic slip editing as well as EQ, and samples can be sliced to create different variations. I do have some improvement suggestions for the devs. I’d like to see a 3rd export option: Export bank stems. You can currently sum a group and export that, but it would be nice to be able to get the individual stems without exporting the entire project with all 6 banks. Also, (and perhaps I missed it) but a solo feature would be nice. Who not flick down on a sample to mute it, and flick up on a sample to solo? I have probably spent a good dozen or so hours in the app and I can confidently say this is an indispensable tool for any musician/producer at any level. Note: when exporting sounds, always use WAV and make sure when importing into your DAW that your audio track is set to stereo, not mono. I saw a few noobs complaining it sounds bad when exporting and this is why.

by E-mannn45 on 2019/03/31 15:20
This app makes it very easy to create awesome sounding beats. It’s fairly straightforward in terms of what each icon can do and how to manipulate sound. Personally I wouldn’t only use this for a final production of sound but it’s a great place to start if you are making music to later transfer to Audition or Logic. Would recommend in a heart beat.

by Hjdftgchjko on 2019/03/15 20:11
The interface and all of the app in general is really easy to work with, and great sound is easily made with it. From my experience this is the only app of this category I’ve found beneficial to sink money into. The ONLY thing I’d like to see, and perhaps others is some Drum & Bass, with some more Trap and EDM packs.
Great app

It’s a great app, a few things though I wish it had all the mix faders in one area and tap tempo on the same screen.

Y’all should change the app to where you can synchronize the music you record.
Nearly Perfect Composing App

Love everything about this app, from the UI to sound options. Makes creating super engaging and intuitive. Only a few things missing that would make it 100%- User collections- since I’ve got nearly 2 dozen sound packs it would be great to be able to save loops to my own groups or label them in a way that lets me categorize for future writing. Sound loop tempo control - very often a loop would sound great if I could adjust its individual tempo without changing the whole song (similar to the garage band feature) (Minor need) Sound loop detail - be cool to know if I’ve already used a specific loop one or many times already. Other than that this is my favorite mobile music writing app
I’m sick of this

I’m tired of people who want to MAKE their own music are usually blocked by a massive gate with a price tag on it... at least give us a demo of the features we can use to make stuff
A MUST HAVE!
by Dblackinf on 2018/12/27 13:35
If you are into to music production this is a MANDATORY APP! The creative possibilities are endless. Blocs Wave is very intuitive and the layout is perfect which makes it easy to learn. If you have writers block and you need to jumpstart your inspiration then this is definitely for you. Being able to import/create your own loops with ease is a must.
No recording mode :-(
by Marcelocresta on 2018/12/19 07:09
I wish that was an option to record live the session...that will help to make the track here and avoid to export to live! More I like to see some filter knobs on a new window for live performing ;-) thanks and much respect marcello
Amazing!

This app is a great go to for getting the creative juices started and creating the loops and sounds of new songs. In conjunction with Launchpad it is a great team and really helps the song writing process.
Do I have your attention now?
by guy who took a chance on 2018/12/14 22:22
Ok so I’ve been with blocs wave for over two years I’ve had 0 problems until now. I keep trying to purchase the Lo-fi hip hop pack but after I put in my Apple password and it says success it says unknown error and won’t download I go back and it has the price tag still on so I do it again and same thing. I’d just like some answers I’m sure it’s fine I just want it figured out Thnx!
My go to sampling app

Especially since as of a few updates ago Launchpad packs open in Blocs, this is usually where I lay out the framework for a track. I dig into different loops and tempos, keys, until I get a vibe I’m really liking, then I export it out elsewhere and flesh it out more. Sometimes I swap the loops out, sometimes not, but regardless the sound you get out of this app (and more importantly the inspiration) is worth every bit of time and money put into it.
Blocs Wave and Launchpad, a dynamic duo!
by None better on the App Store. on 2018/12/07 12:04
I have purchased every loop based app on the App Store and find that Launchpad coupled with Blocs Wave is the best bargain, bar none. I am an accredited music producer, who feels the ability to modify, then export entire songs worth of phrases is a tremendous advantage. Especially considering most packs are only a dollar or two. I wish I could share my most recent production using these products, in this post to showcase the professional quality achieved with an iPad, these apps and a few hours of my time. Simply amazing! Keep nailing it Novation and you will have a fan for life!
Could be a Five Star app.
by Hip1756 on 2018/12/04 23:57
This App is good, but with a few added features it would be great. The EQ really needs a bypass function so you can A-B the sound. It also needs to add a Q parameter because not being able to adjust the Bandwidth is frustrating. And only 3 EQ Bands, really??? And I was really surprised to find that there isn’t a Copy and Paste function for the sliced loop bars. Lastly, adding a Pitch Parameter for each slice would really make this app Amazing. I will change my review and give this app 5 stars with at least some of these needed features.

Stops playing audio
by C Coop on 2018/10/13 17:47
I love this app, but every time I leave to go to another app and then return to Blocs Wave (with my AirPods connected) it won’t play audio again until I quit the app and restart it. I have the newest iPad, so it can’t be hardware related. Fix this and I’ll jump my rating up to 5/5 stars and pay for the pro features.

Very poor audio quality
by venicerocco on 2018/08/15 22:11
It's a shame, because this app is really cool. I love the layout, usability and speed. It's a seriously fun app. However, it is made completely redundant by the terrible, low quality of the audio samples. Presumably to make them quick to download. Knowing I could export as a .wav, I excitedly purchased several different packs which sounded fine when reviewed via earbuds. But if you export a mix and play it back on even rudamenrary speakers, you can hear how muddy and compressed the audio is. I am NOT an audio professional (which is why I like this app) and to my ears it just sounds terrible, rendering it as a fun toy to tinker with, not a music making tool. Bummer. If I was able to get good quality samples, I'd probably buy all the packs as I need to make music quickly for videos and spit them out.
Powerful and stylish, still room for improvement
by magnusxelsv on 2018/05/05 21:12
As an iPhone Plus user who enjoys using portrait view music apps, this very attractive piece of software has become my main recorder of tracks from audiobus. The Iap sampling options make it easy to grab tracks off iCloud so I can chop a break over some of those recordings ,the ui just feels good to use and the focus on giving iPhone users a solid interface is much appreciated. However there are some odd limitations, which mostly seem related to the resampling algorithms used to keep tune and timestretch. This includes being unable to play samples melodically or pitch them individually. This is somewhat made up for by the awesome little randomizer in the slicer plus I think limitations are a good thing, but if there's anyway even just individual samples could be transposed this would be amazing. Or maybe even just one more band on the Eq haha. A really nice product regardless!
Intuitive and Powerful
by Toaster Fflow on 2017/09/01 02:35
This is a free app for recording, playing, and managing loops. It comes with automated key and tempo matching, which works amazingly well if one doesn't push the processing too hard. The integration with AudioBus feels seamless, but I often find that recording does not always start precisely on the downbeat. There are some no-brainer in-app purchases. The slicer is a great tool for abstracting the familiar. Importing my own audio files is a must, too. While some may find the pre-loaded tracks to be of great use, I wish could just delete them all to save space. I also wish that there was a fade-in/fade-out tool to fix recordings that start in the middle of a sound. I use it, mostly, to create ambient tracks with different parts slowly fading in and out.
number one feature wish
by iona 6 on 2020/04/10 15:20
I enjoy working with Blocs Wave, it really is great for generating ideas.
Horrible!
Blocs Wave is incredible
by ryeanmusic on 2018/02/19 02:03
I've never written a review in my life but I believe this app is totally worth one. I am a intermediate producer and I recommend this app to beginners to the professionals. It is easy to use, the stock loops aren't cheesy like most apps, you can bounce files into your own DAW with a touch of button, and to top it off if you have writers block just hit the auto button for ideas. One more thing for iPhone users, I'm not sure if it does this for other phones but you can lock your screen while using app and still listen. I love that personally so I can review my production and critique/enjoy. I myself am now considering ableton live and some of the novation products just because of the brilliance on this app. Please please check it out.

Love blocs waves just needs a little work, 1st we need Fx like flanger reverb etc. 2nd instead of just 8 track sample Windows we need 16 or more. 3rd the ability to use other apps like AudioShare. 4th a keyboard to play with the samples. 5th better editing of the samples such as being able to use a sample that was imported from AudioCopy in more then 1 song project without undoing the edits to the sample being undone once you reopen the other project songs that you previously used said sample in. Other than that Blocs Waves is by far one of my favorite music creation apps. Ps we would pay for those features by the way thanks.

A lot of fun!
by CDaze on 2019/07/01 16:36
I couldn’t possibly call myself a proper musician, yet this app has led me to spend over 100 hours creating little beats and song ideas.
I love this app. But..
by RashelleStarr on 2018/07/10 20:02
This app sounds amazing and has become my secret weapon in writing songs. You have got to add something to your next update ASAP please. When switching patterns there should be two things. The ability to have a different key. AND most importantly, the option to have the switch at the end of the phrase, so the switches are smooth and you don’t have to worry about pressing for the next pattern right on the beat. This makes it choppy and not very musical sounding. A song pattern programmer would be cool too.....still giving ya 5 stars. It’s a great app. But it seriously needs those additions. Intuitive & easy to use, Blocs Wave still has phenomenal creative range when the available (small fee) tools are used. The sound packs are varied, creative, of high quality musicianship and production value, and are also fairly priced (about the cost of a cola). I’m already able to create inspiring sketches in a matter of minutes, but I’m also looking forward to the possibility of new tools such as high and low pass filters as well as the possibility of more detailed sample manipulation. If you have a musical bone in your body, make room on your pad or phone for this one

Great way to flesh out ideas
by grimmwerks on 2017/10/19 11:24
I love Blocs Wave (and its companion Launchpad) - for me I use it as a way to sketch out ideas that I then export to Ableton Live (it exports a full Ableton Live project) and finesse it there. The sample packs one can purchase are slick and professional as well - or you can import your own samples. It'd be great in a future version if you'd have more pitch control over samples, or the ability to pitch slices of a sample would be monumental - rather than being locked into the samples / songs key; it would allow you to use the same sample / instrument in other song parts.
Let’s see about this...
by angelo grover on 2017/12/15 03:47
Been on a Novation App review tangent tonight...mostly gripes but those are concern about the products out of love for the Company and its products across the board. This app needs a zero count-in to recording. I may not want to wait for a 1 measure count-in to go on. I may want to just hit the record button and, wha-la, the recording begins. Also, when transferring/exporting content into Launchpad...it apparently creates a new Launchpad project in doing so. I can’t just get the content into the project I am currently working on. I have to first get it into another app first and then from there get it to where I want it in my Launchpad project.

For all those who are foreign to music making

This app makes it very easy to create awesome sounding beats. It’s fairly straightforward in terms of what each icon can do and how to manipulate sound. Personally I wouldn’t only use this for a final production of sound but it’s a great place to start if you are making music to later transfer to Audition or Logic. Would recommend in a heart beat.

And yet, they're adding so many great features every month as free ad ons!!! Just get it and support this great development team, oh...and give your music production nice boost, too.

I have a feature request....can you have a setting where the app just create a random song using any of the sounds? I can either choose which instruments to randomly cycle through. For example..I am a drummer. I would love to hit a button and just select bass and guitar. Have it randomly play though all my packs.

I've been using this app for the past week. One word to describe it - AMAZING! I'm a Software Engineer and Musician in NYC, and I'm extremely impressed by the flawless execution of this product. Making an app is not hard, but making an awesome app that brings the best of engineering, design, and music is challenging. Blocs Wave definitely did it. I'm looking forward to what's next!

I consider Blocs Wave to be an essential app and an integral part of the modern iOS workflow. The IAP sound packs are an excellent value, it’s easy to pull in your own samples or record new ones straight into the app, and the workflow/GUI is as intuitive & useful as any. When I’m looking for ideas and inspiration, this is among the first apps I turn to.

Best iOS music production app
by Hjdftgchjko on 2019/03/15 20:11
The interface and all of the app in general is really easy to work with, and great sound is easily made with it. From my experience this is the only app of this category I’ve found beneficial to sink money into. The ONLY thing I’d like to see, and perhaps others is some Drum & Bass, with some more Trap and EDM packs.
Love it!
Great App - New bug?
by johnthebassist1807 on 2017/12/03 21:21
One of the best music apps for iOS. Have been using for quite a while now, but it looks like lately I can’t get it to work with inter-app audio in GarageBand? No signal comes through : / let me know if this is a bug! Right now the workaround of importing to launchpad and then linking that to GB is a hassle. Thanks!

I have made some of the best beats on iOS devices from gadget to maschine drum machines etc etc and export all to blocs I making magic on a iPhone sad part most folks don’t believe me when I tell them love this app it’s my final stop before I export it all to ableton live I wish this was around in the 90’s I swear to God
A great app for making beats on the go!
by Logistical Styles on 2017/10/17 18:56
This app is perfect for sketching out a beat when you are out and about. It works really well with Ableton Live. I’m able to start a beat and then air drop it to Ableton on my Mac. I love the sound of the app and the convenience of sharing with other apps and programs.
Great app 432hz Please
by locom@n on 2017/11/15 05:16
Hi I’m love your app is definitely a magical app with lots of features is great im will definitely use it and promote it if I could use it. So I know this is hard work for you guys but if you could upgrade to also has the setting of change the frequency of the sound to 432hz and other will be awesome for me and a big community of music producers. 🙏
A++ app
by ☠️🇺🇸 on 2019/06/27 00:58
I love this app to death. I never write reviews😁. I have one request, if somehow I can flatten a sound and change the pitch of each track. This way I can blend the tracks better. In so many words, independent track pitch, that’s all it’s missing, I’m not going to be greedy.
Bugs never get fixed
by jenkweb on 2017/10/30 22:09
Hey Novation, the grid text bug has been present since launch but still not fixed. Same issue with groovebox. They seem to find time to sell soundpacks but don’t fix issues with the app itself.
Good Idea, Missing Key Ingredients
by legittristan on 2018/03/20 06:04
This is a fun app, but needs more options for using and working with your own audio instead of stock loops and MIDI control and integration. Considering Novation manufactures MIDI controllers, one would think all of their apps would have full MIDI integration in the first iteration. Sadly, most Novation apps have very little and this one has none. Again, a fun app, but until it’s got some key features thrown in, it’s not of much worth to serious music-makers.
Awesome app!
by kawaii_tacos084115771332 on 2018/01/13 03:46
I love your app so much! It’s so much fun to use and I love the effects. I love how there’s different vocal effects and the melodic effects are super cool too. I mostly just like the FX pack. It is super cool. I don’t know what my favorite is because they’re all super interesting to use! Thanks for reading my review!

Inspiration When You Need It

I love this app. It provides inspiration when I need to break out of my usual sound. I take the session files and import them into my DAW, add some additional spices, arrange, and I have a composition for lyrics to be added.
Worthless if you’re trying to use your own samples
by Alain-Christian on 2018/08/04 12:08
I did all this work to edit a few wav files and make them loop perfectly only for this app to add GAPS AT THE END on import. Terrible app. Completely pointless waste of time and money for anyone hoping to use their own audio samples. The importing is handicapped to force you to buy their audio tracks. Don’t be fooled. Was really hoping to use this with launchpad to make my own original performance but that dream is dead.

Great way to start your ideas.

Solid, Serious Music Creation App

Love it!
Cool

As long as u got the basic sounds by default, sections, and u can export project files into your main DAW, I’ll give it 5 stars all day.

A++ app

My go to sampling app
by iammane on 2018/12/09 02:04
Especially since as of a few updates ago Launchpad packs open in Blocs, this is usually where I lay out the framework for a track. I dig into different loops and tempos, keys, until I get a vibe I’m really liking, then I export it out elsewhere and flesh it out more. Sometimes I swap the loops out, sometimes not, but regardless the sound you get out of this app (and more importantly the inspiration) is worth every bit of time and money put into it.

by None better on the App Store. on 2018/12/07 12:04
I have purchased every loop based app on the App Store and find that Launchpad coupled with Blocs Wave is the best bargain, bar none.

I would be over the moon for this app.

by Toaster Fflow on 2017/09/01 02:35
This is a free app for recording, playing, and managing loops.
Horrible!

Keep nailing it Novation and you will have a fan for life!
Cool Features!
by Awesome Unicorns🤪🦄 on 2018/06/24 17:11
When u leave the app and go to home screen, if u leave the music on , it plays the music while u are out of it! So u can listen to your tunes while playing a different game! :) ;) U can also feel like a DJ! The app has everything a DJ would have, but more beat Choices! They rate it as 9+ but it could be 7+ because u just have to press buttons!Someone can teach them how to mess with the beats! This is awesome!Download this and not be bored!:) ;)
This for real scoring productions
by Uel Magneto on 2020/04/12 09:23
I’m able to track all midi files and exports within one domain.
For all those who are foreign to music making
by E-mannn45 on 2019/03/31 15:20
This app makes it very easy to create awesome sounding beats. It’s fairly straightforward in terms of what each icon can do and how to manipulate sound. Personally I wouldn’t only use this for a final production of sound but it’s a great place to start if you are making music to later transfer to Audition or Logic. Would recommend in a heart beat.
Great app needs ability to copy paste slicer bars...
by musician dan on 2017/08/22 12:07
5 star app. Holding 1 star until they add and ability to copy and paste the slicer bars... also need the ability to select different keys for different sections. These are crucial features. And yet, they're adding so many great features every month as free ad ons!!! Just get it and support this great development team, oh...and give your music production nice boost, too.
Excellent Music Creator!!!!
by Dancamp on 2017/10/03 22:12
I have a feature request....can you have a setting where the app just create a random song using any of the sounds? I can either choose which instruments to randomly cycle through. For example..I am a drummer. I would love to hit a button and just select bass and guitar. Have it randomly play though all my packs.
Second to none!
by Maxlovesapp on 2017/10/13 22:58
I've been using this app for the past week.
Quick Sketches & Ideas Generator
by orphandeity on 2018/08/12 23:37
I consider Blocs Wave to be an essential app and an integral part of the modern iOS workflow. The IAP sound packs are an excellent value, it’s easy to pull in your own samples or record new ones straight into the app, and the workflow/GUI is as intuitive & useful as any. When I’m looking for ideas and inspiration, this is among the first apps I turn to.
Love it!
Thanks!
Smh what can I say
by theghost601 on 2017/11/03 03:23
I have made some of the best beats on iOS devices from gadget to maschine drum machines etc etc and export all to blocs I making magic on a iPhone sad part most folks don’t believe me when I tell them love this app it’s my final stop before I export it all to ableton live I wish this was around in the 90’s I swear to God
A++ app
by ☠️🇺🇸 on 2019/06/27 00:58
I love this app to death. I never write reviews😁. I have one request, if somehow I can flatten a sound and change the pitch of each track. This way I can blend the tracks better. In so many words, independent track pitch, that’s all it’s missing, I’m not going to be greedy.
Inspiration When You Need It
by Gum Guru on 2019/12/25 17:45
I love this app.
