Description
lastpass authenticator offers effortless two-factor authentication for your LastPass account and other supported apps. With one-tap verification and secure cloud backup, lastpass authenticator gives you all the security, without any of the frustration. ADD MORE SECURITY Safeguard your LastPass account by requiring two-factor authentication codes when signing in. Two-factor authentication improves your digital security by protecting your account with an additional login step. Even if your password is compromised, your account can’t be accessed without the two-factor authentication code. You can even mark a device as “trusted”, so you won’t be prompted for codes on that device while your account remains protected by two-factor authentication. TURNING IT ON To turn on lastpass authenticator for your LastPass account: 1. Download lastpass authenticator to your mobile device. 2. Log in to LastPass on your computer and launch “Account Settings” from your vault. 3. In “Multifactor Options”, edit lastpass authenticator and view the barcode. 4. Scan the barcode with the LastPass authenticator app. 5. Set your preferences and save your changes. lastpass authenticator can also be turned on for any service or app that supports google authenticator or TOTP-based two-factor authentication. LOGGING IN To login to your LastPass account or other supported vendor service: 1. Open the app to generate a 6-digit, 30-second code OR approve/deny an automated push notification 2. Alternatively, send SMS code 3. Enter the code into the login prompt on your device OR hit approve/deny request FEATURES - Generates 6-digit codes every 30 seconds - Push notifications for one-tap approval - Optional encrypted backup to restore your tokens on a new/reinstalled device - Support for SMS codes - Automated set-up via QR code - Support for LastPass accounts - Support for other TOTP-compatible services and apps (including any that support google authenticator) - Add multiple accounts
Needs Sync Feature and Desktop Client!
by DougATL on 2020/01/22 13:16
Generally like the app quite a bit and consider it a very worthwhile part of my subscription, but it’s lacking in two main areas. First, as a person who routinely uses both Android and iOS phones daily, I really want my codes to sync between the two devices so I can add a new QR on one and have it sync automatically to the other. Backup and restore is useful but kludgey and doesn’t do the same thing as sync. Second, along the same lines, once there’s sync I’d really want a desktop client so I can cut/paste codes directly on my computer too when needed. Overall, though, great app and please keep improving it!
Completely fails to function with new phone
by cmac038 on 2020/01/22 00:27
Got a new phone, put old SIM card in, erased old phone. Never realized there was an option to back up and restore authenticator. Now it is impossible to set up on the new phone, no help online from support pages. Not sure I should be trusting my passwords to such a poorly coded app
Clean UI, Seemingly Flawless 2FA Generator
by stacy.stephen on 2020/01/13 10:24
Because I have used LastPass on other devices across multiple platforms, I decided to use their Authenticator...The UI is clean, it’s easy to set up, and it backs up to LastPass. Operation is extremely similar to other 2FA generators, but I feel confident in this one. Please maintain your integrity!
Doesn’t Sync
by naicnepenthe on 2020/01/07 17:03
I cant believe I'm writing this.... I doesn't sync new codes for resets websites
Great for back up and day to day use.
by chillerz on 2020/01/02 03:09
This app is better than the Google Authenticator. I’ve gotten to the point now where I would like search or some other way of quickly filtering my codes. I have so many and it’s time consuming to scroll through them one by one trying to find the code I need.
It’s not sync on all devices
by arminmacx on 2019/12/23 17:52
LastPass Authenticator is very nice but it’s not syncing all of my 2FA on all of my devices. I have few missing on my iPad when there are exist in my iPhone. It’s even backed up on my LastPass.
Lost all accounts
by wingfeet5 on 2019/12/06 14:55
This was working fine for a while and having the added FaceId check was nice. Lately though, I’ve opened up the app to see that everything is gone and it can’t restore from back up. I’ve had to re-enable 2FA on all my account twice now.
Please add a search function
by G3TG0T on 2019/12/04 22:15
Great app, but no way to search! I have way too many items to scroll through. Would also be nice to add sorting features (newest added, alphabetical, etc.)
Trash
by Notdogma on 2019/12/04 18:04
Can't even sync their own barcode.
Broken
by DevinDash on 2019/12/03 22:59
This last update broke the Authenticator app for me. All I see is this stupid QR code and it’s telling me to backup. No codes are generating and I cannot approve access when I get a notification. A SMS text has to be sent to me with a code if I request to authenticate a device. Very annoying
good addition to LastPass
by siberianwlf on 2019/12/03 22:45
nifty product, love the integration with encrypted Lastpass vault... however it would be nice to have search function and upcoming otp code visibility (like Lockdown has)
Lost everything with the recent update
by 2runs on 2019/11/17 19:42
Doesn’t even restore from backup
App does not work
by JustBrowsing123 on 2019/11/13 23:31
Has not backed up since March 2019 and would never sync between devices. Now erased all my codes and will not open even when logging into LastPass, as per instructions.
Repeatedly wipes out authenticators and backups
by DrMusic45 on 2019/10/19 23:06
Do not use until they figure out how to not erase your codes and then automatically back up an empty authenticator to your LastPass account. I'm locked out of all my accounts now because the app randomly loses my codes and backs up empty authenticators into my account, wiping out all of my access. A shambles of an app, to be sure.
Doesn’t recognize barcode scan
by Lenin_VW on 2019/10/17 16:46
I tried registering my mobile phone (iPhone 6s) with my lastpass account and I can’t get past the first step (scanning the barcode security key)
I’m sticking with it
by carlosrsr on 2019/10/10 15:33
I changed to this app about 6 months ago just from Google Authenticator just to keep the LastPass branding. I love it! With certain apps it just ask me if I want to Authenticate without the need of enter the number, it just works. When I changed from the iPhone X to the 11, i just had to restore from the backup and all of the numbers were there. great app.
Nine month without an update
by RYOkEkEN on 2019/09/05 14:07
In 2019 that should tell you everything about the app
cat get a 6digit authorization on new phone
by itsizzi on 2019/08/18 19:47
I can't use this app anymore, after multiple tries, on my new phone. Have enabled and disabled 2 step multiple times in my vault-restored, deleted and reinstalled app multiple times- rebooted both devices... but no go. It used to give me a notification ding and then 6 digit passcode on my old phone, no problem. But now it just opens to scan a barcode. Never gives a passcode or the option to send via sms. And if you can't get a code, you can't finish logging in. Support responds quickly but the exchange is just an endless loop of sending screen prints, them sending me links to their instruction to everything I'd already done. The password program works just fine but this authorization app needs a rewrite. Too much of a pain and time spent working on it. After a week of trying, I disabled 2step in my vault and deleted this worthless app.
Still hasn't loaded!
by Fiddler109872345 on 2019/07/31 13:34
I'm not quite sure what's going on, but I downloaded the app yesterday for two-factor authentication, but it's STILL downloading accounts. When will it be actually ready to use?
Backup/Restore is a PAIN
by ck1109 on 2019/07/24 16:04
Downgrading the rating to 2 stars due to the backup/restore functionality: To restore anything from backup, you have to delete the app and reinstall it. This is very counterintuitive. Backup occasionally fails and asks to re-login with no push notification on my phone, so I have no idea unless I go into the app itself and check the status. But the worst issue - LastPass changes the primary auth approval device when you restore from backup. Not sure if this is a bug, but this is unacceptable to me. For example, I enrolled lastpass multifactor auth using the website and set the primary device to my iPhone. Then I installed the Auth app on my iPad and restored from backup. At this point LastPass decided to change the primary approval device from my iPhone to my iPad. The only way to fix this is to turn off multifactor auth in your lastpass account, re-enable it and then restore the device you want as the primary at the end.
It never did work
by doesntwork-bad-app on 2019/07/22 15:31
The app never did work for me and could not get support to help me figure out what was wrong. Frustrating to the max.
Doesn't pair with my iPhone 8+
by JPetCat on 2019/07/16 16:56
Authenticator app doesn't pair with my account at mobile setup. Please fix soon. Otherwise, I love Last Pass.
Scan function doesn’t work
by interested party on 2019/07/10 18:41
I really don’t even know if the app is worthwhile or not because I can’t get past the setup because the scan function keeps returning an error. :(
QR Code won't read
by TJChecketts on 2019/06/21 19:20
Pretty straight forward. QR code won't read anything. Won't tell me there's an error or succeed, it just does nothing. No way to use LastPass on an Enterprise account without the QR code scanner and authenticator. Literally makes this site/service worthless.
So much better than Googles

Awesome App
by DaMuddydog on 2019/06/18 00:32
Works flawlessly for me for a couple of years now. I’m really grateful for this app.
Poor iPhone X Support
by Drvid69 on 2019/05/03 23:27
The previous review is quite accurate. Impossible to login because of the broken Push Notifications which prevents 2FA.
QR code error
by Lady Vangaard on 2019/04/10 02:01
Throws an error when I try to set it up. Scanning the QR code isn’t working.
Half of what it should be
by modmans2ndcoming on 2019/04/05 20:33
Sure, it allows a nice push button authentication for 2fa to LastPass but it doesn’t work right on the Apple Watch. I get a notification that lets me deny but not accept? Microsoft lets me do that, so does google, so does my employer’s 2fa vendor, Imprivada. Seriously, it needs to have functional pushes to the Apple Watch to be considered seriously.
Still (Mar2019) Doesn’t sync across multiple devices
by Tortri_ on 2019/03/31 13:27
For example my iPhone scanned a code on my iPad, it added it and backed up but my iPad doesn’t show the new addition. I’m forced to reinstall. Other than that it’s perfect imo
Apple Watch App?
by mousecop90 on 2019/03/18 23:59
I’ve been using LP Authenticator for years now. It’s never done be wrong but what I’d really like to see is an app for my Apple Watch to show my rolling codes. That would be so handy. I’ve considered switching to a different auth app but I’m so deeply entangled into the LastPass web. Please bring this functionality!!
Stopped working
by runn'a on 2019/03/18 13:42
As of March 18 it stopped working. Please fix it
Excellent
by Haelous on 2019/03/17 11:27
Easy to recover if you reset your phone or get a new one and it's simple to use.
So close and yet so far.
by JesusBenNazareth on 2019/03/05 17:41
It only seems to work properly if I remember to quit after each use. Otherwise I have to revert to manually entering passcode. Update: If they still haven’t fixed this bug, who knows what other bugs lie undiscovered? More serious ones?
Great, but lacking Apple Watch support
by PartyOfSe7en on 2019/01/21 02:08
This is my only Authenticator app, and I’ve tried many. I like that it backs up to my Lastpass account, so a lost or damaged phone won’t require me to set up the codes all over again. However, I don’t understand why the Lastpass app has Apple Watch support, but the Lastpass Authenticator app doesn’t. I don’t think I would ever want to look up a password on my watch. There are hundreds of websites with saved passwords, which makes it way too tedious. I would love to look up an authenticator code on my watch though. Most people don’t have that many accounts with Authenticator codes. Most people might have maybe a dozen auth codes. It would be simple to scroll through the list of codes with the watch crown, yet they haven’t done this.
Best 2FA App
by John_vd on 2019/01/18 03:16
Better than Google Authenticator. Overall, the app is perfect. The way it auto fills codes is just amazing. The design of the app could be nicer in my opinion, more rounded shapes instead of rectangles, but that’s nothing major to complain about.
Restore from backup doesn’t work
by DeansReview on 2019/01/14 12:52
I installed the app. I was given the option to restore from backup which I selected. It prompted me to open up the LastPass app. I signed into LastPass using TouchID and then it asked me to select an account to sign on. Why? I’m already logged on. App has clearly not been tested properly before releasing. Unable to use this app so uninstalled.
Great but missing Apple Watch support
by mlo1088 on 2019/01/09 00:38
All the standard features such as tapping to copy, easy to setup, and backup enabled. Minus one star for not supporting Apple Watch.
Works Great
by W|ldb0y on 2019/01/08 02:04
I’ve been using it for three years now and haven’t experienced any issues. Even transferred to three different phones with no issue.
Good stable and reliable - possibly my #1
by curtis63021 on 2019/01/06 10:54
Installed side by side with Microsoft Authenticator, Authy and Authenticator+, this app recovered on iOS after restoring a backup and restoring to factory default quickly, without any hassle and more reliably (no duplicates/etc. as seen in Authenticator +). It just works - haven’t had any issues. With its tie-ins with LastPass, I am keeping it active and would love to see it continue to mature.
Lost all my codes
by liutang on 2019/01/05 18:01
I thought I’d give this a shot. Set up the codes and confirmed working. Then came back several days later and everything is gone. Of course their backup requires premium. Going back to G-Authenticator and restore everything with my backup codes.
No Apple Watch Support
by Howardd21 on 2018/12/29 15:42
LastPass is fine, I have recommended it to clients for years both personally and enterprise. But the lack of Apple Watch support is laughable.

by bkaselow on 2018/12/23 09:08
I have been using this app for a long time, but suddenly the app erases all the account, and I can't recover my accounts.
Poor Integration
by MadeToMac on 2018/12/16 13:48
While I have no problem using this for other sites it doesn’t work for the Last Pass site itself. Just keep receiving errors when trying to pair it. I’ll be moving on.

Backups do not restore to a new device
by Bitsumi on 2018/12/04 05:37
I recently upgraded my iPhone and tried to restore a backup from my LastPass account. The app displayed an error message, and said to try again later Waited a few days, and tried multiple times to restore with no success. Reached out to the LastPass support, and somewhat promptly responded to my issue. They recommended reinstalling the LastPass app (not authenticator) and trying a restore. Same issue persisted A level 2 support person responded in ticket P5IBF9N2EXFX, and said that restoring to a new device is not supported. I don’t know why my LastPass vault can be restored to a device, but not the LastPass authenticator backup, which is stored in the same account. Fortunately my important tokens are stored in Authy, which properly supports cross device syncing and restoring. I’ll be switching to 1Password when my LastPass Premium subscription is over
Doesn’t work
by Edmistica on 2018/11/28 15:57
I have an iPhone X and the Authenticator codes straight up don’t work whenever I try to authenticate a device. It’s super frustrating when I can’t access my passwords because I’ve been logged out of LastPass and can’t authenticate unless I get an SMS code sent to my husband (who is usually working and can’t get back to me right away). Please fix this issue.
So confusing!!
by feanice on 2018/11/25 14:57
Last pass is so confusing to use and requires so many steps to set up! There are 2 last pass apps , one for authenticating and the other one for storing passwords. Why having 2 apps when I have to authenticate it first?!!! The 2-factor setup is really 3-factor: first login to my computer , second download the LP app, third link to a phone number... all 3 are required. Guess LP can’t do math and what’s the point of verifying from apps AND text msg?? Our enterprise is international, and I swap SIM cards when I’m in a diff country. So I’ll be locked out when I’m in another country. Guess LP is not for international companies
Lost all codes
by Faceoff34 on 2018/11/17 18:34
The latest update deleted all my backup codes and it can’t restore from backup to my last pass account. I deleted and reinstalled and when I try to restore from backup it says no backup found.

Authentication
by nolike1941 on 2018/11/15 13:44
This is a terrible App. Out of the blue it started asking for a pin and, of course, I never had one so i was locked out of most of my web sites for days.
Stopped working
by Botan1234 on 2018/11/10 18:11
Just gives a message, “oops, something went wrong. Please force the app to quit and try again.” Hard closing the app, restarting does nothing.
LPA failed to communicate with LastPass Vault
by 1dmo on 2018/11/05 21:01
For whatever reason LPA stopped working and no longer display the interface that shows codes or Check mark when signing into LastPass. Nor am I able to disassociate it from LastPass or able to get text code. So in essence I can't login and disable the authenticator for good and thus cannot login any of my password protected websites. Hopefully, LastPass software engineers will fix whatever is broken.
Broken on XR iOS 12.1

Missing Apple Watch Integration
by thesurg3on on 2018/10/26 06:24

BACKUP DENIED
by rdabroski on 2018/10/23 18:19

Only if it had sync in addition to backup
by mualhadi on 2018/10/19 01:33
This app is the best authenticator app out there. My only problem that the backup/restore option breaks push if restored on another device. I wish it had sync because i use two different devices. That’s the only thing keeping from giving it 5 stars

Recent update broke app
by cparker31 on 2018/10/12 01:31
The app was great up until the recent update. Now every time I try open the app it says “Oops! Something went wrong. I guess I’ll have to reset everything and start over with a different working authenticator.
Good But Needs Better Watch App
by NYCTheaterLvr on 2018/10/08 23:03
This was a perfect app until I upgraded my iPhone to XS and Apple Watch to Series 4. Before then, I could approve using the phone or the watch, now the watch only lets me deny or dismiss, the “approve” button doesn’t do anything. So now only the phone app works. I hope the Watch app is updated soon, then this app would be perfect again.
Backup restore fails
by elZeon on 2018/10/06 19:27

No Apple Watch Support
by Terry & Sara on 2018/09/27 01:25
I like the push notifications, but there’s no excuse for not having an app for the Apple Watch. I’m spoiled by having Okta for work, but LastPass is falling behind. An Authenticator app makes much more sense than a password manager app.
Desperately needs Apple Watch support
by Richie510 on 2018/09/26 23:07
The app works fine, but this app, way more than the regular LastPass app NEEDS to be on Apple Watch. That is where it would be most useful.
Clean & helpful, but sometimes confusing.
by ecnelises on 2018/09/18 17:31
This app has really clean UI and suitable for LastPass users. And the backup/restore feature is also helpful. But since I can restore 2FA keys on my iPad from backup of iPhone, can I regard this as a form of sync? If so, backups from different devices may have conflict, causing confusion. Actually, I think integrate it with LastPass may be better, which also helps auto-filling when seeing 2FA prompts.
Best Authenticator App!!!
by UserNamesWereAllTaken on 2018/09/14 00:00
Love this app! its backup feature has saved my but a number of times. I have lots of devices and when things break I need to restore my authenticator codes on new devices. Google Auth doesn’t offer a way to backup your codes which would leave me stranded. The app is updated and shiny on all iOS devices. Yes even to look good on iPhone X. It’s also integrated with last pass for extra security and convince. This app deserves 5 stars.
Very Poor
by sportsboy59 on 2018/09/01 21:41
This may be the first review I’ve ever left for an app. Who could’ve known it would’ve been for a LastPass app? This app worked just fine on my previous phone. Several times now I’ve tried to update the service on my current phone to no avail. The help files on their website simply don’t align with reality. App wants me to scan a barcode yet the site mentions nothing of the sort. This company gets worse by the day.
Awful

Fix the Workflow
by darkr3lic on 2018/05/31 05:55
I use LastPass heavily personally and within enterprise and would love to get push to accept on Apple Watch. Other multi factor services have this and I think its time for LastPass as well. Currently I get the notification on my watch but I can only deny the request. An app or the ability to accept it from the Watch is so natural. -6/1 I am still waiting for this to get fixed. The workflow for accepting 2 factor requests needs to be streamlined. If you are going to put an accept button in the notification let it authenticate with faceID and be done. I have to then authenticate into the app and then press a green Check button which is just cumbersome. I use Okta Verify at work and they have nailed it. Please take the constructive feedback and make the user experience the best it can be!
Can’t add more than one mobile device
by FaShUnPhOtOg on 2018/05/27 08:02
Try as I might, I cannot add my iPad LastPass Authenticator once I’ve added my iPhone LastPass Authenticator. Once the iPhone is added the only option available from the website is to enable or disable the authenticator. Unless it’s hidden somewhere else on the site, there is not an option to add the authenticator from other devices. And it simply does not work properly on the iPhone. It’s supposed to be seamless - once you try to log in you’ll get a notification telling you to use the authenticator. You click on that notification to open the authenticator and click on the green allow button. Once you’ve done that, you should be re-directed back to your browser or app without having to manually enter the code. It worked once. ONCE. And from then on I’ve had to enter the code manually each and every time. The trust this device option did not appear the first time I used the iPhone. I removed it and re-installed it and the trust this device option appeared. I was also able to add the iPad finally by launching the app and using the authenticator code from my iPhone but still cannot add the iPad authenticator app via the website.

Works, except when it doesn’t , have to uninstall to reset PIN
by wb6vpm on 2018/05/09 07:09
App works great, but I have not been able to figure out how to reset a forgotten PIN, it looks like the only way is to uninstall the app. I have an old iPad mini 2 that doesn’t have Touch ID, so I have to use the PIN on it, but since it requires a 6 digit PIN, I cannot remember what it is (I use my iPhone version primarily and only use the iPad one occasionally).

Review of the product: It has been super refreshing that LastPass provided this Authenticator app. I wanted to keep my Authenticator agonistic from specific platforms like Google and this let’s me do that easily. It also allows for backing up into the cloud to prevent getting locked out due to device failures/upgrades. (Relied on this feature recently and it saved the day!) I’d love to see more in the form of push authentication wherever possible. Thank you for making this companion to your secure password management ecosystem. Request of the dev team: Please enhance the LastPass experience by expanding this Authenticator app to watchOS - it provides more value than the base LastPass watchOS app provides. I can’t readily visually copy a long complex password from my wrist to my login screen but I can easily benefit from having quick access to a six digit OTP code! I would love to hear from you on this request. Thanks!
Problem with latest update
by PurdueGrad99 on 2018/03/19 14:49
After the last update the app won't even open now
Has some missing features and glitches
by Gregoryd07 on 2018/03/12 15:37
I’ll be right to the point: The iPad version does not work in landscape mode. That is annoying. Can you fix this please? The Apple Watch app is basically useless. You can only see that an authentication request is coming through. You cannot verify and approve it. Why not?
Unresponsive dev team
by jkirk1626 on 2018/01/19 15:55
The update record of the version history and comments show that responding to users and improving the app are low priorities. The mobile browser is not capable with many sites. Too often, LastPass fails to fill many sites' login fields using the LastPass iOS extension for major browsers like Safari and Chrome. You can't set LastPass to leave your username or password stored in the chipboard for longer than one minute. LastPass has its good points, but responding to its paying-customers' needs is not one of them. There's been some improvement since its acquisition.
App is a dud.

The fingerprint function did not work even though I was able to use my fingerprint to login to LastPass on my cell. Weird. I uninstalled it; don’t want to run risk of losing my account b
Great for LastPass Users
by Ryan Broom on 2017/12/03 18:59
One-tap verification for 2FA authentication with LastPass is very convenient. It also works anywhere that Google Authenticator would and has all of the same features (QR scanning, tap to copy/paste codes, backup, etc) but it also supports iPhone X & FaceID. It also looks cleaner. I really wish I could use one-tap with a push notification for all of my other sign-ins, but I don’t know if that integration is even possible. Overall, great app and I highly recommend it.
Watch Interface Ridiculous
by Troyjoy on 2017/12/02 15:17
Authenticator notifications come to the Watch, but the only options are to Deny or Dismiss—you can't Verify. Even though it the Watch screen says Verify Login Request, that button does nothing; you must pull out your phone to finish the process. If it offered only Dismiss then it would function strictly as a notification method, which would be somewhat understandable even though disappointing. But since it actually allows you to Deny a request it appears they intend the Watch to offer some operational value. Yet if that's the case, WHY NOT enable it to also Verify a request, which is the typical and most useful case? This shortfall is highly annoying.
Best of mobile authenticators, still a lot of room for improvement
by xpxp2002 on 2017/12/01 17:59
Just added support for iPhone X, which is great. But it would be more functional and helpful to have Apple Watch support so that I could look up Authenticator codes without needing to take out my phone at all. However, my biggest gripe is with the way back up and restore is handled. While you’re back up will automatically restore when you sign into LastPass, push notifications remain broken. The process to fix this requires reregistering the Authenticator with your account and is very tedious and difficult to find on the LastPass website. It seems to me that it back up and restore is already supported in the Authenticator, that one would desire to also resume push notifications with a restore. automating that process would easily help me bring this up to four or five stars.
Garbage
by EpicacMan on 2017/11/27 22:22
Frequently won’t load. Crashes. Update wipes saved Data so you have to reset. Its basically a giant pain in the neck to use. Oh and the whole "device not paired with your last pass account" error even when you pair it with your last pass account repeatedly? That's the icing on the cake. Latest iOS. iPhone SE.

by Fuzzy Reviews on 2017/10/12 23:57
Works flawlessly. Easy to set up, edit, alphabetize sites, delete sites, and backs up to LastPass password manager (if you have an account, but not necessary). Easier than Authy. Google Authenticator cannot be synced or backed up. Bye bye Google.
Problems with iOS search
by jwgodwin on 2017/10/09 17:39
I do not know if this is the apps problem or a problem with iOS, but the app will not show up when I search Authenticator, lastpass authenticator, or lastpass in the iOS search bar this app does not come up. I depend on that feature. Generally, everything else works great.

Won't work if you use multiple iOS devices
by luv2ski2 on 2017/08/13 05:07
This app will only bind one iOS device to your LastPass account. If you share an account among family members with multiple devices, well you're probably screwed trying to get this to work We successfully used Google Authenticator for years with our multiple iPhones and iPad on a shared premium LastPass account. The LastPass Authenticator is advertised as a better authenticator that cuts out the cut and paste or manual code entry that makes MFA so cumbersome. In reality, it appears to break users with multiple devices because it will bind to only one device per LastPass account. . The other devices can still use Google Authenticator but the codes it provides will not match the LP Authenticator code so they can't login if the LP Authenticator is the default In the MFA setup screen. On this screen, there's a drop down that globally selects which authenticator (Google or LP) is the "default". The word "default" implies that you can override the default authenticator on the LastPass login dialog thereby choosing a device compatible authenticator at login time. Not so in my experience. If you use multiple devices to access your LastPass account, I advise saving yourself a bunch of frustration with this poorly thought out app. In my opinion, it's just not worth the trouble.

The only way to fix this is to turn off multifactor auth in your lastpass account, re-enable it and then restore the device you want as the primary at the end.

by carlosrsr on 2019/10/10 15:33
I changed to this app about 6 months ago just from Google Authenticator just to keep the LastPass branding. I love it! With certain apps it just ask me if I want to Authenticate without the need of enter the number, it just works. When I changed from the iPhone X to the 11, i just had to restore from the backup and all of the numbers were there. great app.
I’ll be switching to 1Password when my LastPass Premium subscription is over
Good But Needs Better Watch App
by NYCTheaterLvr on 2018/10/08 23:03
This was a perfect app until I upgraded my iPhone to XS and Apple Watch to Series 4. Before then, I could approve using the phone or the watch, now the watch only lets me deny or dismiss, the “approve” button doesn’t do anything. So now only the phone app works. I hope the Watch app is updated soon, then this app would be perfect again.

Best 2FA App
by John_vd on 2019/01/18 03:16
Better than Google Authenticator. Overall, the app is perfect. The way it auto fills codes is just amazing. The design of the app could be nicer in my opinion, more rounded shapes instead of rectangles, but that’s nothing major to complain about.
Very Poor
by sportsboy59 on 2018/09/01 21:41
This may be the first review I’ve ever left for an app.
Please add a search function
by G3TG0T on 2019/12/04 22:15

Half of what it should be
by modmans2ndcoming on 2019/04/05 20:33
Sure, it allows a nice push button authentication for 2fa to LastPass but it doesn’t work right on the Apple Watch. I get a notification that lets me deny but not accept? Microsoft lets me do that, so does google, so does my employer’s 2fa vendor, Imprivada. Seriously, it needs to have functional pushes to the Apple Watch to be considered seriously.
Removed Apple Watch support - no longer 5 stars
by Jon_ks on 2018/07/29 14:03
This app was awesome when there was an Apple Watch app that allowed you to verify requests. The feature has been removed with an update and really diminishes the usefulness of the app
Recent update broke app
by cparker31 on 2018/10/12 01:31
The app was great up until the recent update. Now every time I try open the app it says “Oops! Something went wrong. Please force the app to close and try again.” I have tried multiple force closures and restarts to no avail. I guess I’ll have to reset everything and start over with a different working authenticator.

Description
lastpass authenticator offers effortless two-factor authentication for your LastPass account and other supported apps.

Trash

When I changed from the iPhone X to the 11, i just had to restore from the backup and all of the numbers were there. great app.
Nine month without an update

cat get a 6digit authorization on new phone
by itsizzi on 2019/08/18 19:47
I can't use this app anymore, after multiple tries, on my new phone.

Scan function doesn’t work
by interested party on 2019/07/10 18:41
I really don’t even know if the app is worthwhile or not because I can’t get past the setup because the scan function keeps returning an error. :(
QR Code won't read
by TJChecketts on 2019/06/21 19:20
Pretty straight forward. QR code won't read anything. Won't tell me there's an error or succeed, it just does nothing. No way to use LastPass on an Enterprise account without the QR code scanner and authenticator. Literally makes this site/service worthless.
So much better than Googles

The previous review is quite accurate. Impossible to login because of the broken Push Notifications which prevents 2FA.
QR code error

Please bring this functionality!!

by Haelous on 2019/03/17 11:27
Easy to recover if you reset your phone or get a new one and it's simple to use.

Going back to G-Authenticator and restore everything with my backup codes.

by Howardd21 on 2018/12/29 15:42

LPA failed to communicate with LastPass Vault
by 1dmo on 2018/11/05 21:01
For whatever reason LPA stopped working and no longer display the interface that shows codes or Check mark when signing into LastPass. Nor am I able to disassociate it from LastPass or able to get text code. So in essence I can't login and disable the authenticator for good and thus cannot login any of my password protected websites. Hopefully, LastPass software engineers will fix whatever is broken.

Only if it had sync in addition to backup
by mualhadi on 2018/10/19 01:33

Good But Needs Better Watch App
by NYCTheaterLvr on 2018/10/08 23:03
This was a perfect app until I upgraded my iPhone to XS and Apple Watch to Series 4. Before then, I could approve using the phone or the watch, now the watch only lets me deny or dismiss, the “approve” button doesn’t do anything. So now only the phone app works. I hope the Watch app is updated soon, then this app would be perfect again.
Backup restore fails

I was also able to add the iPad finally by launching the app and using the authenticator code from my iPhone but still cannot add the iPad authenticator app via the website.

by wb6vpm on 2018/05/09 07:09
App works great, but I have not been able to figure out how to reset a forgotten PIN, it looks like the only way is to uninstall the app. I have an old iPad mini 2 that doesn’t have Touch ID, so I have to use the PIN on it, but since it requires a 6 digit PIN, I cannot remember what it is (I use my iPhone version primarily and only use the iPad one occasionally).

Great part of LastPass ecosystem on iOS
by atmotaye on 2018/03/24 14:17
Review of the product: It has been super refreshing that LastPass provided this Authenticator app. Thanks!

by Gregoryd07 on 2018/03/12 15:37
I’ll be right to the point: The iPad version does not work in landscape mode.

Latest iOS. iPhone SE.
New iPhone 8 restored works great

My iPhone 6 battery were bad bought an iPhone 8 restored it went flawlessly.
Works Perfectly
by Fuzzy Reviews on 2017/10/12 23:57
Works flawlessly.
Needs Apple Watch support

I got a notification on my Apple Watch to verify login request. But only the Deny button could be tapped. Please add an Approve button to Apple Watch notification.

Why not?

Best Authenticator App!!!
by UserNamesWereAllTaken on 2018/09/14 00:00
Love this app! its backup feature has saved my but a number of times. I have lots of devices and when things break I need to restore my authenticator codes on new devices. Google Auth doesn’t offer a way to backup your codes which would leave me stranded. The app is updated and shiny on all iOS devices. Yes even to look good on iPhone X. It’s also integrated with last pass for extra security and convince. This app deserves 5 stars.

When I changed from the iPhone X to the 11, i just had to restore from the backup and all of the numbers were there. great app.
I’ll be switching to 1Password when my LastPass Premium subscription is over
Good But Needs Better Watch App
by NYCTheaterLvr on 2018/10/08 23:03
This was a perfect app until I upgraded my iPhone to XS and Apple Watch to Series 4. Before then, I could approve using the phone or the watch, now the watch only lets me deny or dismiss, the “approve” button doesn’t do anything. So now only the phone app works. I hope the Watch app is updated soon, then this app would be perfect again.

Best 2FA App
by John_vd on 2019/01/18 03:16
Better than Google Authenticator. Overall, the app is perfect. The way it auto fills codes is just amazing. The design of the app could be nicer in my opinion, more rounded shapes instead of rectangles, but that’s nothing major to complain about.
Very Poor
by sportsboy59 on 2018/09/01 21:41
This may be the first review I’ve ever left for an app.
Please add a search function
by G3TG0T on 2019/12/04 22:15
Great app, but no way to search! I have way too many items to scroll through. Would also be nice to add sorting features (newest added, alphabetical, etc.)
You Should Be Able to Search Vault within the Extension
by ryjacs on 2018/05/26 15:25
If the website or app does not match perfectly than your password won’t show up. There should be a way to search all your websites within the extension
Works Great
by W|ldb0y on 2019/01/08 02:04
I’ve been using it for three years now and haven’t experienced any issues. Even transferred to three different phones with no issue.
No Apple Watch Support
by Terry & Sara on 2018/09/27 01:25
I like the push notifications, but there’s no excuse for not having an app for the Apple Watch. I’m spoiled by having Okta for work, but LastPass is falling behind. An Authenticator app makes much more sense than a password manager app.

by wingfeet5 on 2019/12/06 14:55
This was working fine for a while and having the added FaceId check was nice. Lately though, I’ve opened up the app to see that everything is gone and it can’t restore from back up. I’ve had to re-enable 2FA on all my account twice now.
Poor Integration
by MadeToMac on 2018/12/16 13:48

Desperately needs Apple Watch support
