Scholly Search
Description
Scholly takes the hassle out of the scholarship search process so you can focus on what’s important—getting free money for school. We have helped students win over $100 million in scholarships so far, making college affordable and dreams a reality. Scholly was created by Christopher Gray, who won $1.3 million in college scholarships through grit, sweat, and hustle. In realizing how broken and time-consuming the scholarship search process was, he created Scholly Search to make things much easier. How does Scholly make it easy? * Customized scholarship search: Get matched with scholarships for college and graduate school tailored just to you. * Scholly Scores: Review and choose the best scholarships to apply for based on their Scholly Score. The higher the Scholly Score, the stronger the match—which means better chances at more money! * Easy Scholarship Tracking: Keep track of scholarship deadlines and track your application statuses, all in one place. * Mobile & Desktop Access: Access scholarship opportunities anywhere, on the go, on all of your devices. The best part is that with a Scholly membership, you’ll receive access to ALL of the amazing tools we offer to help students, including Scholly Editor, an AI-powered writing assistant, and Scholly Math, an AI-powered math solver that instantly interprets and provides step-by-step solutions to any math problem. Scholly Search costs $44.99/year. Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at the confirmation of purchase. You will not be charged during your free trial period. When the free trial ends, your iTunes account will be charged for the annual subscription of $44.99. To avoid that, you must cancel the subscription at least 24 hours before it expires. Manage your subscriptions in your iTunes Account Settings. Any unused portion of the free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription to Scholly. Membership automatically renews ($44.99 for annual) unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. The account will be charged ($44.99 for annual) for renewal within 24-hours before the end of the current period. Terms of Use: https://myscholly.com/policies/
Makes it easy to find scholarships
by M.amy2002 on 2019/11/15 18:39
It’s only been a few weeks so I haven’t heard back from any scholarships yet, but Scholly makes it easy to apply to lots of scholarships. I’ve applied to over 15 and will be applying to more. Hopefully I win some lol.
Horrible
by Cassmalq on 2019/11/15 13:40
I cancelled my subscription and it continued to take my money even after I cancelled. I have never won a scholarship and have been using it for two years now. I do not recommend unless you want to waste money, time, and happiness.
App issue

Nothing happens when I click on Scholarship Feed to see the list of matching scholarships. Please fix this.
Don’t bother if you’re not in high school
by Diddabeth on 2019/11/09 01:20
I am a 40-something mom going back to school after 20 years to finish my BA degree. We aren’t rich and I’ve maxed out my student loan qualification bc of too many credits. I was excited to try this app as I’m having a hard time finding scholarships for returning adult students and I was hoping this app could find scholarships in corners of the web that I couldn’t. As it turns out, I will never know. The sign up process asks what year you are in high school. I am 25 years out of high school, and yet I couldn’t continue signing up until I chose a year. It gave me no other choices than those. I gave up after that as I don’t want to pay $45 to get matched with scholarships that are only for high school students. What’s funny to me is that the sign up process also asks what kind of degree you’re seeking, including Master’s Degrees. I would be willing to bet that there are WAY more working adults going for Master’s degrees than there are kids just out of high school. If you’re a returning adult student, find a better app and don’t waste you’re money on this one. So disappointing. 👎
IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION!
by Jamie0107 on 2019/11/08 07:58
I have tried over & over to cancel this subscription. Scholly says to cancel thru iPhone subscriptions but iPhone says it has to be canceled thru Scholly! I am beyond frustrated & regret ever signing up for this rip off app!!!!!
Good Idea but not worth it
by studentxmx on 2019/11/07 16:18
I loved the idea of this app. I have searched for scholarships and it’s frustrating. They had a great location to find tons of scholarships. I applied for over $80k and didn’t receive one reward. It’s. It their fault but I really do wonder if these scholarships are as rare as they make it seem.
DO NOT INSTALL
by paco_inpico on 2019/11/07 13:11
Scam. Claims you’ll have a three day FREE trail but when you sign up, there is an ‘error’. If you try again, it will charge you $45! NO FREE TRIAL. SCAM.
Stop Stealing Money.
by Doctor average on 2019/11/03 20:39
Y’all are taking people’s money in a slick way. You think you’re paying once but no, they take your money every month and raise the price without letting you know. Smh. Use Fastweb instead folks.
Too expensive
by Fishers64 on 2019/11/01 17:05
For a poor college student looking for a scholarship, that subscription fee is cost prohibitive. This is how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I’m quite disappointed. I like the design photos, but maybe have an ad version for the rest of us? I’d much rather have to scroll past an ad to see my scholarship results then pay $50 I don’t have. Thanks bro.
Scholarships shouldn’t cost money
by eviewevie02 on 2019/11/01 15:30
Any company that asks you to pay money to apply for a scholarship is scamming you from what scholarships are for. This company is disgusting.
It’s $49.99! PER YEAR!!
by Scottymoxie on 2019/10/30 16:17
I got the app because I needed money. When will Apple start making developers be transparent about costs?
Wow
by WellthisSucks- on 2019/10/29 00:30
What makes you think someone who is looking for a scholarship wants to pay a monthly fee just to be able to view scholarships.
Disappointed
by Happynewnet on 2019/10/27 18:38
I purchased this app 5 years ago when my oldest son was applying to college. I just tried accessing it again for my younger son and the purchase cannot be reinstated. Given that I paid and offered support before the developer made it big, they should honor original purchases and not force customer to pay $44.00 per year for something they already bought.
Ridiculous; hypocritical
by PeytonCGardiner on 2019/10/24 04:10
When I first heard of this app from a friend I was ecstatic! I have tried so many different applications which aim to help match students with scholarships. I was drawn to the unique story and what seemed like a genuine effort to help students succeed. However, upon downloading the app I was shocked and appalled to find that you must first pay $45 dollars for access to this service. This is ridiculous, first a story discussing the many struggles of students, in particular those with economic challenges, then an attempt to breach the gap for them and as it turns out it is yet another attempt to make money. I am very disappointed.
Unusable
by Green🥶 on 2019/10/18 02:06
I tried to use the app but couldn’t. I tried to put in my age or location but everything was blank so I gave up trying.
Oxymoron
by LeeLeeAza on 2019/10/17 01:15
This app asks that you start a three day trial or pay over forty dollars a year for its service. The point of applying for scholarships is that you're in need of money - why would I pay to find & apply to them?? I'll be sticking to whatever I can find on my computer, thank you.
bs
by Charity lover on 2019/10/15 20:23
you have to pay like $45 annually to use this but at least you get a free three day trial!!!! if you’re looking for something like this app but actually free try raiseme.
It’s a no for me
by Melanie 👑 on 2019/10/15 16:10
An app that claims its free/ supposed to help students but before you can even see what the app is about it wants you to pay $44.99 for a year. I could’ve sworn the reason why people apply for scholarships is because they need financial help. Not offering monthly payments is definitely not helpful. This app is for the middle class or upper class. Also for people who have debit/credit or prepaid(?) cards. Btw The trial is only for three(3) days.
Don’t say it’s free if it’s not
by KellyNLily on 2019/10/14 17:09
Not free- membership required. It’s ok to charge for an app- most of us pay for a few. But please let us know that it’s a subscription. Not that it’s free with some “in-app purchases” when you’re required to pay for a membership. False advertising and reading the reviews below, most haven’t found any scholarships.

It keeps crashing once pressed on.
Paying to get access to scholarships???
by Mmontaukk on 2019/10/10 19:20
So this app charges $45/year to be able to access scholarships. The reason we apply for scholarships is because we need the financial help. The dumbest app.
NO
by Bre141 on 2019/10/10 17:09
NEVER pay for scholarship searches. There are so many free resources through your school or online that you should never have to pay to try and find scholarship money. You’re looking for scholarships bc you’re poor in the first place?!
Monthly subscription- doesn’t say in app purchases
by Djdjdbdbk on 2019/10/08 14:19
It appears to be a free app but then requires a subscription. Yet isn’t listed as in app purchases when you go to download. Lacking transparency.
Have a bug
by EmberSilver<3 on 2019/10/08 14:12
First: theres no help area or way to contact whoever to get help with an issue. I looked around and all I got was a FAQ page that didn’t have my issue. Second: the app will not let me get padt putting in my extracurriculars! I go throught the list, checking any that apply, but it will not let me click “next” for some reason. I would like to increase my scholarship search by including LGBT advocacy and that I hike and such but the app will not let me! Other than those two issues, a really good app. I hope I can get my issue solved soon.
i already paid
by HipsterTurtleLove on 2019/10/08 11:28
i already purchased this app and now i have to pay for it every year?
App Crashes will not Open
by Shethar on 2019/10/07 16:55
App will not open on my iPhone. I recently downloaded Scholly and it continuously crashes every time I attempt to open it.
Expensive
by shnoppps on 2019/10/07 03:45
This app costs $45 per year. How could a student needing scholarships afford that? Seems like a scam to me. Definitely not worth it when there are plenty of other free websites and counselors available to assist students for free.
Won’t even open
by Pinkeuphoria on 2019/10/06 15:57

The app needs work
by jdmhype on 2019/10/04 20:54
It won’t click next on some things. It fumbles around it’s central ui. Needs better polishing. Don’t sign up for the trial. It’s how they snag you.

Inconcievable
by Avidius Cassius on 2019/10/01 23:34
I re-downloaded the app and created a new account. Little did I know, THERE IS A MASSIVE BLOODY PAYWALL. This is the first thing you see when you create an account. WHY DIDN'T I SEE THIS BEFORE I CREATED AN ACCOUNT? THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF A PAYWALL. Massive scam. They say “lets help you pay for college,” yet also offer a massive $44.99 paywall to even use the app immediately after creating an account. Even reading what it says here on the app store, the indication of such paywall is hard to find. The thing they do, however, which is incredibly misleading, is they display with incredible ambiguity the “free trial,” with absolutely no respect to a duration of time for which the trial lasts. When you are presented with the paywall in the app, it tells you the trial is three days long. How incredibly short a time for a trial. My situation can be best described by a quote from Vizzini, a character from the Princess Bride: “Inconceivable.”
I just signed up and deleted the app.
by azymir on 2019/09/29 10:40
The app stated that it is free. However it’s not free. Only a 3 day trail. Please stated that is cost up front. I would not down load the app. Free means free all the time. Free trail explains that there is cost. It’s not cost of the free trail but the app misleading stated.
App seems predatory
by pandalore83 on 2019/09/24 13:42
The only first step you can take is to sign up, which requires that you give them an email address. The next step is to buy the service starting with a brief free trial. I'm not ready to do that and I feel deceived. It doesn't matter to me how good the paid service may be, I am angry that I gave them my email address before discovering that the only way to use this app is ultimately to pay for it. I wish they just charged for the app. My concern is that my email info will now be sold and distributed. Not a big deal just again not what I was expecting. The whole experience feels predatory.

by HawkMamma21 on 2019/09/22 23:28
Can anyone out there help me? Our trial period expired with being able to access. Now I am being charged $45 for the full version... which I would be ok with IF we could access any of the material. There is no place that can help with log in issues.

Subscription
by Damiensaur on 2019/09/17 04:58
I remember when it used to be $3 a month, which was great but now they do annual plans only. This makes no sense for people about to graduate. Scholly used to be a great resource for scholarships but now they’re money hungry. Don’t bother with it even when I had the monthly plan it wasn’t great. It could be so much better. It’s all based around you getting the annual plan now.
Another subscription rip off app
by MrOnePercent on 2019/09/16 01:39
Yet another app with sketchy subscription setup. Download the “free” app. Prompted to put in your email address and create a password. Only then are you presented with a signup for $44.95. There is no option to continue unless you pay. I thought Apple had rules for this?? Apparently not. Uninstalled.
DANGER!!!
by Deeterfly on 2019/09/13 05:23
This app is a scam and rip off. All the information is available for free online through generic searches. They require additional steps beyond the app store to cancel your recurring charge. Stay away from these leeches. Im in dispute now to get my money back that they have been stealing. Scum of the earth.
It is not working
by Aznii617 on 2019/09/12 20:30
For my three day trial I loved this app, I had over 200,000 dollars in potential scholarship money. Then I bought the full version because I was in love. Now I cannot access my account everyone I try to sign in with the app it says, please subscribe and I press subscribe and it says I have already am subscribed and nothing else happens. When I tried to access the web page on my iPhone, which is updated to the most recent IOS and it is not letting me access my account. I subscribed initially I had a problem with the credit card but then fixed it and have pairs. I tried to email the scholly team using the link they provided but apparently my email was blocked. I will change this rating once this issue is resolved Scholly respondes to this comment with email the scholly team, but I have sent them 5 emails and it did not send. It is not my email, since I have sent multiple emails since them. I am requesting a refund since this app can not aid me if this problem is not fixed.
Scam
by LuckeFrans on 2019/09/11 01:35
Absolute scam. There’s no way to cancel the subscription in the app. I’m having to contact Apple now to correct the billing issue because I wasn’t able to cancel the sub in the first place. Also, the only scholarship I applied for now emailes me every day asking if I want to take out a loan through them.
Rather have ads than pay $45
by Two thumbs way up!!! on 2019/09/10 00:39
This will fall on the creators deaf ears but the 3 day trial period is not enough time to receive any scholarships. The other apps “included” aren’t useful enough to justify the cost. Way to “pay it forward”. Deleted app ✌🏼...and now he’s building an empire on their backs...
Can’t set up a profile
by britrow2 on 2019/09/05 22:17

Buggy and pricey
by Adralyn on 2019/09/04 19:08
I’m trying to use the free 3 day trial and after signing up and purchasing the trial, I still can’t access the app itself. Why is this bug still there after people have been complaining about it for days? And for the love of god, PLEASE don’t just tell me to email info@scholly — fix the app instead!
No other payment options
by Kait Armi on 2019/09/04 18:40
I used to use this app when u could pay monthly to use it, I cancelled my subscription to study and now that I want it back that payment option isn't even available! It's $45 for a full year but I can't afford to pay that much money upfront.
Um
by whatthewhywhat on 2019/09/03 23:29
Why in the world would you have a financially unstable college kid pay $50 for an app to help them find scholarships.
Hypocrite
by summerroselli on 2019/09/03 12:14
I’m sure the app is lovely and super helpful, but I wouldn’t know because you have to purchase a $45 membership!! The creator of this app knows what it’s like to have nothing. The whole point was to help kids see scholarships, especially those who need them most. I understand corporations have to make money, but there are better ways.
Doesn’t Work!
by  AppIe  on 2019/09/02 18:07
I saw this app a few minutes ago, featured on the App Store, so I downloaded it, but I’m going to delete it right after I write this review. When I signed up, there was a pop-up for the free trial, so I clicked join now, and In-app purchases aren’t allowed, so there’s no way I can access the free trial. Also, I don’t think I saw anything about having to pay after 3 days on the App Store. And I noticed there are a lot of recent views that are 1-Star, mostly complaining about the same thing. It seems like a really helpful app, but I can’t get in it sooo.. is there anything you guys can do about it? Thank you!
Price has increased
by latrice614 on 2019/09/01 17:22
Decided to try the app, but to my surprise, the cost of the app is 44.99, not 4.99. Talk about a huge increase.
I’m unable to cancel my subscription and they keep charging me
by Ami Maekawa on 2019/08/30 08:55
I purchased this app over a year ago. I have been trying to cancel it because I no longer need it. They say I can’t cancel through my IPhone and then send me to links that don’t work. There is no assistance offered through this app to ask how I can cancel. I am very frustrated and would advise anyone who is looking to purchase this app DON’T. You may be paying for it until you retire. This app is a joke.
Useless.
by Goldcat99 on 2019/08/29 19:19
You have to pay to use the app, its not free. This is a scam. Edit: Thanks for the response, still a scam :)
Useful but really buggy app
by jfsdhj777 on 2019/08/28 19:09
The app is really buggy, wont save my information properly, makes me go through the same things (selecting categories) all the time because it glitches out and won’t save any previously saved selections. I always have to go back and change my profile because it keeps not saving updated info... incredibly frustrating to use.
No free options
by rsaenz on 2019/08/26 04:45
Can’t recommend or give a great rating to an app that claims to be created for students in financial need but is charging so much to use. The developer has a great story of struggle and resilience but this app is more about making money than helping students find money. Just another example of how privilege is an advantage to opportunity. If you really wanted to have a revolutionary app it would be free and change the lives of students that don’t have all the resources to higher education. Once this app shows that it’s mission is for the students and not for the money I will change my review.

$44.99?????
by Devin12502 on 2019/08/25 17:56
I keep trying to “test” out the app to see if I like it and I’m willing to pay the $2.99-$4.99 a month but I do not want the yearly plan. I have never even got into the app yet because as soon as I try it wants me to use the app for 3 days then automatically take $44.99 out of my account. I just want to try it for a month but it refuses to let me see any other payment options other than the yearly.
Reeally upsetting that you have to pay to actually get the opportunity to see all scholarships
by medsmp on 2019/08/25 16:57
This is supposed to help people pay for school who otherwise cannot afford it. Yet you charge 50$ to see it after we submit all our information? That is so wrong and sad I hope you reconsider this unethical decision. Stealing from the poor to give to the rich.
Don’t download the app unless you can purchase
by ❤️Orange Veggies on 2019/08/25 02:04
I downloaded the app to check it out, then canceled the subscription it a day later. A month later I received a charge. I cannot afford this right now and I asked for a refund but I was only given a note that my refund could not be processed. Otherwise it seems like a good app.
Scam
by Gabz101464 on 2019/08/24 02:23
Forty four dollars to use this platform? What a shame coming from a developer who used to be homeless. Even with this 3-day trial, I still wouldn't be able to get a scholarship in THREE DAYS. Please fix the trial period for those who are seeking help when it comes to paying off their future tuition. I got very excited for such a useful app just to be asked for money that my family can't spend easily. Either way, I'm an incoming senior, and I don't need a whole year to find these scholarships, I need 6 months...better to do it the ol' fashion way!
App doesn’t work
by ReReRo89 on 2019/08/22 18:03
My review is based on the actual app and not the scholarships. I downloaded the app and it never worked. It was stuck on the “join now” page after I agreed to pay for a subscription. I contacted customer support which you can only do by email and have to wait hours for a reply. They said they would look into it and sent me a discount code that I could not use because the app would not work. After 3 days I just cancelled my subscription before they charged me for something I could never use.
Seriously?
by Kaprmp11315121289 on 2019/08/22 06:10

DONT DOWNLOAD. YOU NEED TO PAY TO GET SCHOLARSHIPS
by QueenV🎭 on 2019/08/16 15:58
I made an account thinking i would be able to get scholarships, but you need to choose the payment plan to have that. $45 a month. If you choose the free one, you just get articles and essay samples. No scholarships. You cant even delete your account, just remove your subscriptions! Ridiculous! I WANT MY ACCOUNT DELETED SINCE I WONT BE USING IT
Not the best fit for me
by sophiashaw19 on 2019/08/15 12:00
This app was ok until I applied and wrote essays for roughly 25 scholarships and didn’t win a single one even with a Scholly score of 9 for some of them. But the app is a great way to weed out thousands of scholarships that don’t match you.
Money
by Ruelover098 on 2019/08/10 08:45
Probably would be a great app, if it was free. I totally understand that developers and apps need money to-well-exist. But there’s better ways to do it then blocking off nearly every feature unless you pay for it! Get sponsorships to advertise a scholarship or college, put ads in, make some special features require payment. We’re all just broke college/almost college kids, give us a break!
Why pay to look for money?
by KEDS-11 on 2019/08/10 07:15
You don’t need an app to find scholarships. Do your own research. It might take more time but it’s FREE and you’re more likely to find better scholarships that suit you specifically. This is a scam.

Any service that requires money for ACCESS to scholarships is a SCAM. We need money for school, so you ask us for money? Please, if you read this, check out unigo.com or niche.com. These are free services with access to HUNDREDS of scholarships. You do not need this blood sucker or his app.
$45?! I’m looking for scholarships for a reason...
by mlama125 on 2019/07/30 14:28
This app immediately disappointed me heavily. I saw an article about it from the creator about how he wanted to help people. Students looking for scholarships can’t afford to pay $45 for a search engine! So disappointed.
No true free trial zero stars
by Concernedconsumerz on 2019/07/27 12:49
I signed up for free trial. It says you can cancel it before 3 days and not be charged. It also says you will still have access to ALL the info until the “free trial” is up. 1. Once I cancelled- same day, I had no access to ALL the information. 2. If I am charged I will contact ALL consumer protection agencies to report. 3. If this app was created by a young man who had been homeless - as the info states within the App Store.. why would someone who has been through that charge those who are seeking ways to pay for college?
Misleading

Stealing my money
by LeftHandedCrow on 2019/07/17 09:31
You guys literally have been stealing my money for a year, if not over a year now. I was using the app before it was updated and paid for the membership only to find that a majority of the scholarships were unavailable anymore due to them being outdated. Matching issues
by Aim Baim boo on 2019/07/13 15:25
The app constantly matches me with scholarships I am not eligible based on my grade level. I am a high school senior and the only scholarships I’ve been matched with are ones for students already in college.
Pretty bad
by highschool student on a budget on 2019/07/10 23:11
I was recommended this app by an uncle and cousin who used it years ago. I made my account excited to find scholarships and filled out all the qualifications for them to find the best match scholarships for me. After spending about 15 minutes scrolling through the long list with repetitive qualifiers so that Scholly could figure out who I am I finally got matched. I was extremely disappointed to find that there was only 3 I matched that didn’t meet my qualifications and were basically lottery scholarships that only one person could win and required you to put in a substantial amount of work. After I cleared those scholarships because they were lottery machines that didn’t match my qualifications I expected for more scholarships to pop up but they didn’t. When I went to my dashboard and hit scholarships I was directed to a pay wall expecting me to whip out my card and pay them a subscription (yes not a lifetime access that you can use the main purpose of this app) for work they haven’t done. And I repeatedly tried to find scholarships to then get directed to the pay wall again and again and they didn’t even offer me the cheapest one but the annual expensive one. Y’all scholarships are supposed to give you money for college. Don’t pay these people to hand you lottery style scholarships that don’t match you. Your better off just going to your preferred colleges website and seeing what scholarships they can provide or searching around on the internet. After spending about 30 minutes on the app I uninstalled it just as quickly.

Don’t bother downloading. They’ll charge you $50, and even if you cancel the subscription right after you realize they’ve charged you, they refuse to refund it.
Why is there a fee to use this?
by Moonapril on 2019/07/04 15:24
Why would the app developers make this a paid service? Students can barely afford tuition on top of book fees, rent fees, etc. The whole point of a scholarship is help students who can’t afford school. Seem super counter-intuitive to place a price on that. Honestly, this is just a way to make money off of low income students and that’s the lowest business idea. Sure, the service provided is convenient but honestly if you put the work in to look up things you’ll be able to find these scholarships on your own. Anyways, super disappointed in this app and the people behind in for targeting such a vulnerable group who barely have enough money to even afford school.

Hello, I like many people actually brought this app before it turned into a subscription based service and got no notification that I would not be able to access the features I previously purchased. Because of that I can’t recommend this any longer.

Paying a monthly fee in order to find scholarships (of which, 99% you probably won’t even win) defeats the whole purpose of even looking/applying for scholarships. Why do I have to pay just to find money ?

Paying to get spam emails
by FannyPackNick on 2019/06/13 05:09
This app is 100% not worth it. You’re paying to just be spammed with emails 24/7. It’s sad to know that they’re profiting off of students who are just trying to pay for school. I applied for tons of scholarships, spent hours of time applying and didn’t get a single thing other than more fake, spam emails. The makers should honestly be ashamed of themselves.

Scholarships
by katpat98 on 2019/06/05 02:58
I think this is a good app, but I have a suggestion. Can at least just searching for scholarships be part of the free version? I can understand paying for the specific matches, but at least let us scroll through the scholarships on the app without making us pay for it. It’s a scholarship app...
It’s okay
by Bekahgrace96 on 2019/06/02 19:45
I haven’t seen as much variety as I’d like to. The app works okay, but they raised their monthly price by $3 and didn’t tell me. Nothing about their service changed I don’t believe, so the price jump was unwarranted. I got rid of it because it’s not worth $5 a month when I can just spend a little extra time and look on my own
Negative Changes

My daughter and I purchased the app when it first launched. At that time we did not have to pay a monthly fee. Now that things have changed and we have to pay a fee to use the app. Doesn’t seem right to me!!! I use to tell people about this app all the time since I work at a college. I will no longer recommend this app to anyone!!
Pretty Good! Small Issues if Any
by KingShpoo on 2019/05/07 23:49
I noticed a lot of the reviews were from about a year ago so I thought I’d review the most recent version. I’ve been using it for a few months now and have found it incredibly helpful. The app runs smoothly and I’ve never had any crashes. As for the scholarships, I haven’t won anything but then again, many scholarships take awhile to announce a winner so I’m still waiting on a few. Don’t expect to win and get scholarships awards very quickly. Also, the website said it wouldn’t include any type of “giveaway” or “sweepstake” style scholarships, but I see them on there all the time. Unfortunately, they recently raised the price of their monthly subscription from $2.99 to $4.99. I normally wouldn’t mind, but it would be nice to at least send a courtesy email to subscribers. If you plan to continue using the service, a few other perks like an essay editor and math problem solver are on the Scholly website. I would recommend it to you if you’re going to be dedicated to applying for scholarships and use the other resources, but if not, there are plenty of free scholarship sources instead.
Mostly good
by crazycatladykatie on 2019/02/18 06:31
Overall a helpful app for finding scholarships at a pretty cheap price. There are ways it could improve. I got a lot of scholarships that didn’t match me, were for majors I wasn’t interested in or places I didn’t live. But it was hard to weed these out, because each scholarship gets one generic description that often isn’t very helpful. If the descriptions could be edited to show more important details like the requirements for application or essay word count, that would be so helpful. Also it would be really nice if we could look up scholarships. For example, if I could see all scholarships for business majors, or search for no essay scholarships. Things like that. That would definitely make this app 5 stars. As it is, I find it worth it for one month, but not any longer.
I bought the app years a go but now expected to pay a monthly fee too
by Christipher DiCesare on 2019/04/09 19:20
I bought the app when it first released. Because I paid for it I didn’t have to pay a monthly subscription. I left a comment/review saying as much. The developers reached out to me and offered me something in a link which I stupidly downloaded. Now I am out the cost of the price I paid before and they want me to pay a monthly or yearly fee... So my review went from 4 stars to 1 star, and I will no longer be using the service. Cheap, petty and completely disgusting that these people would force me to pay monthly when I put down money for the app before they charged money. Then finding out and tricking me into downloading a “patch” that forces me to pay for it monthly know. I can no longer recommend this product. I work at a college financial aid office and I recommended this product to every student who came into my office for money. You’ve lost that free targeted marketing from me. I will from now on recommend students go elsewhere.
Great Idea, but maybe not worth the subscription?
by Tuhtz on 2019/03/31 19:27
I’ve had this app since I’ve started college in 2014. I’ve applied for scholarships every year and haven’t been rewarded, not at fault at this app, but still it makes me regret buying the app and putting in all that effort just to end up collecting more loans and debt. It’s a great idea, and I figured it was worth the initial pay because finding scholarships takes time which I have very little of; but with another monthly payment to add onto paying my normal bills and my school debt, even one as little as $3, adds up. It’s a great resource and gives you the chance at so many opportunities! Use it only if you’re okay with paying 😊 it’ll be worth it for someone I’m sure.
Crashes continuously, SLOW!!!!!
by Heatherhaze33 on 2017/12/08 03:26
I saw this air on Shark Tank. I loved the idea, and am pursuing going back to school myself. Being a former foster youth, female business owner, as well as a veteran on the military - figured this would be a wonderful platform to find a lot of scholarships... Nope. I opted for the $2.99 monthly charge, and figured it would be a smooth running app. Looks like whatever $$ was put in is long gone, and they are no longer updating the app. Not ONE scholarship was generated!! Not only that, the app crashes 8 times in the first 20 min trying to set up my profile!! And it’s was EXTREMELY SLOW!! So slow that for each block I tried to fill my would lock itself in the wait time it to to enter in information. Bottom line, save your $$. This app doesn’t work as it was designed to do so - and I’m hoping that $2.99 I spent goes to fixing this for future students who are in need. As is, this was a disappointment and DO not pay $$.
Worth it if you’re motivated
by kat2x2 on 2019/02/19 00:00
Im a senior, i used to rely on the scholarship portals my university set up for me, thinking these would have everything in one place but after checking out this app I realized there are so many scholarship opportunities out there that weren’t presented to me because they are just obscure enough to not be in their radar but the app has gathered them all in one place. I’m glad this app exists and wish I’d had it when I was a freshman. If you take the time to go through it, answer ALL the questions for your parameters and it will match you with EVERYTHING, a list conveniently populated for you, updated with new scholarships, a timeline to help you keep track of deadlines coming up. This app is sooo helpful.

Great idea and easy to use App. We justified paying the monthly fee of $3 for Scholly, as it appears to weed out many of the sweepstakes/scam scholarships found on other sites like FastWeb. Also, there are some opportunities listed in Scholly that we did not find anywhere else. However, as we go through the Scholly list generated after completing a profile, we have come across a couple that are listed as available, but when we actually link into the application website for a given scholarship, the company is no longer offering it. Wondering how frequently Scholly is verifying/updating their list? Con: No reply when an e-mail was sent in regards to a possible technical issue. Zero response.... disappointing. Scholly developers.... are you there? E-mail sent over two weeks ago.
Great
by Ghostsem on 2018/09/02 15:29
This app is extremely effective. It’s easy to navigate, consistently up to date, and has a large selection of scholarships to apply to. That being said, here’s how it could improve— 1. I would love to see a way to report inaccuracies or irrelevance of a scholarship. For example, if I am a high school sophomore looking for scholarships, I likely won’t be enrolled in a school yet, so I don’t want to see scholarships with that requirement yet. Scholly does a great job of this for the most part, but for the rare times the scholarship is irrelevant or misrepresented, it would be nice to have a report button. 2. What’s a Scholly Score? Maybe I missed the explanation, but I still don’t know what that is. Could you put a brief description under the scrolling “advice” place on the dashboard? Overall— great app! I definitely recommend it to scholarship-hunters. —————— Update: some scholarships explicitly require the student to be enrolled in a college/university. It would be great if people who have not been accepted yet could filter out those scholarships. Perhaps add a “accepted to college” part in the profile?
Stealing my money
by LeftHandedCrow on 2019/07/17 09:31
You guys literally have been stealing my money for a year, if not over a year now. I was using the app before it was updated and paid for the membership only to find that a majority of the scholarships were unavailable anymore due to them being outdated. Glad to the the devs actually updating the app, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that I’ve unsubscribed from the app and there has still been money taken out of my account ever since that day even after attempting to unsubscribe multiple times. I do love the idea and purpose of this app but this issue needs to be resolved, I have proof of the transactions and if te devs do reach out and work to resolve the issue with me I will more than gladly remove this comment. Until then I don’t recommend using this app unless you want money taken from your account every month for the rest of your life.

I give Scholly a 4 star rating! I am a high school senior due to graduate in may 2018 and Scholly is helping me so much with finding scholarships with out the hassle of having to surcharge for hours on other sights and validate the scholarship. I love the personal profile and the due date notices but I do with that you could add in comments of more info on your profile because I am a life guard and for the life of me there was nothing on there for that but other then that I am finding this very helpful in my preparation.
Convenient, Easy, and Fun.
by Krisroar on 2018/07/15 20:53
This app has made applying for scholarships easy and fun. I never thought I would get so much satisfaction from applying from scholarships, but every time I hit “applied” I just feel this wave of happiness overtake my body. This app is convenient because it weeds out all those random “post your opinion and win $10,000” scholarships. This app offers the real deal and it helps you by setting goals and personalizing a profile so your scholarships match with your aspirations. I have applied to about 8 scholarships already and I am so excited to see what the future brings because of Scholly!
Good idea, but needs some work
by Annoyed98765 on 2018/03/07 19:04
The concept of this is fantastic. But there are little things that make it not worth $2.99 a month. When you try to delete an option it asks you why and when you select it it says it will be removed but it doesn’t remove it. A few times it actually deleted the option below it instead. It also gave me several options for African American and Indian scholarships when I am neither and have neither on my profile. The point of this and why it is a paid for subscription is because it is supposed to weed out the majority of what you are not eligible for. But out of the options it gives me I am only eligible for about half
Helping those in need - at a price
by sfhaaefvhmoomoo on 2019/02/26 06:37
Let’s get this clear - you are paying money for an app that helps students that do not have the means to pay for schooling? A lot of people applying for scholarships are in need/need based situations and just can’t spend money on an app when you can do it for free elsewhere. Read the Apple spotlight for the app and thought how backwards this was - the creator was from a low income family and spent hours applying & now he wants to help other kids... at a price. Just do what the creator did, go to the library and apply - FOR FREE. It’s like making the homeless people reaching out to the food kitchen to pay a monthly subscription fee. I have no reason to complain - there are way better resources for free elsewhere - but I just thought this was ridiculous...
Don’t Forget Where You Came From
by Rob56283 on 2019/03/24 22:08
I downloaded this app because of the unique story the founder had applying to scholarships on a library computer because he was not even able to afford a smartphone. I was very surprised to see that he then wanted to charge money to use his app, as the free version has very limited resources that are not very helpful. Very disappointed in how you sold out because kids like you aren’t able to afford to use this resource. Would you have been able to use this service that costs $30, Chris? Seems very hypocritical and like you’re part of the problem, not the solution. I’d urge anyone who actually needs financial aid to use free services online that don’t profit directly off the backs of students just looking for help.
WASTE OF MONEY
by sofia belle 2017 on 2018/05/07 20:48
I heard about scholly on shark tank and as i needed scholarships i thought id give it a try. First off, it gets your hoped up finding s ton of scholarships but it turn out they are all for small amounts of money. Second, they advertise most of these have similar requirements but it is not true, i had to do something different for each, which takes a lot of time. And finally, since i applied to the 8 scholarships i found through the app I've been getting HUNDREDS of junk emails every day in my professional account i had no junk. Not only did i waste money on the app and time applying to small scholarships but now im also spending hours trying to clean my email account, i wish i could go back in time and not go for it. TOTALLY DONT RECOMMEND THIS!!!!
Free trial?
by Grelsta on 2019/04/21 14:58
This app looks legit and acts as a hub that sends you to the actual scholarship website, which is nice. However, I downloaded the app to try it out during the three day trial and ran into an issue. After subscribing, and going through the profile set up and scholarship matching, I went in to cancel the subscription in case I forgot later and to enjoy it without worrying about canceling “at least 24 hours before” the time ran out, but the service for the app locked up and now only the basic and monthly subscription levels are available. Looks like a glitch to me but either way, no more Scholly for me.
I can’t pay $2.99 for an app!
by 🐀🐀 on 2018/02/27 04:53
You cannot apply for scholarships until you pay for a monthly $2.99 subscription. I have been having such a difficult time finding scholarships since my family is low income, and I was so excited for this app! However, I cannot use it because I am a high school student with no money and a family who lives paycheck to paycheck. That being said, I know the developer needs money. What about having ads, or allowing for some lower reward (maybe less than $2000) scholarships to be available for those of us who can’t pay? Or maybe each scholarship costs $0.05 or something and the developer can make money that way. At least we would know what we are paying for.
Definitely Worth 2.99/month
by Student anon on 2017/08/20 15:29
I've seen a lot of reviews of people who are extremely angry about the fee of 2.99 per month, but it is totally worth it IF YOU ACTUALLY APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS, especially on a regular basis. The lowest amount of money I've seen offered in these scholarships is $500; so If you were to receive only 1 scholarship it would be more than worth it. IN CONCLUSION, if you're serious about receiving extra money for college or funding your high education you should get the app and pay the fees.

Save your time and go get a scholarship book from the library
by pshanahan on 2018/03/18 16:05
This app is just slightly better than all of the scholarship websites, in that it has all the same scholarships that are just a marketing opportunity for the companies that offer them, and it hasn’t matched a single relevant scholarship to me. It rated a scholarship for people with lymphoma as a 4/10 for me, even though I don’t qualify. I haven’t seen a single scholarship that is related to my degree, even though I spent the time to thoroughly fill out my profile. I’ve had better luck in 2018 going through scholarship books at the library to find scholarships related to my degree than I have on any website or app. They are all the same.
Great and almost perfect
by knpskoala on 2017/08/14 05:35
I love this app! It works well, is easy to use, and looks good. I have had no problems with it loading. I don't give it 5 stars because I am not sure how good a platform it is for actually GETTING the scholarships-- it is a platform for finding and applying for scholarships (and it is great in that regard), but there is no point to it for me unless I actually get one. But I will keep trying and applying and if I get one this app will be my favorite! I will give it 5 stars when that happens.
Read the terms of agreement!
by Lar.rose on 2019/03/17 23:08
I knew this was too good to be true. Towards the end of the user terms of agreement, in bold letters, it states that the rights of any content that users produce is transferred to Scholly. This includes any ideas, essays, or media that you post! They specifically state that they then have all rights to that content and are allowed to modify it, publish it, and even market it if it’s a marketable idea. I think that this is wrong on so many levels, as many scholarship applications specifically ask you about ideas one may be wanting to pursue in their academic future. Just another example of a big company taking advantage of desperate college students. Shame on you. 👎

Lifesaver of an App

I saw this app on Shark Tank and I had to look it up right away. Unfortunately my financial aid had failed to go through my Junior year of college so I needed scholarships as soon as possible. Other than that, wonderful app.

It’s Good, but has Tech Problems
by The Ravin Reviewer on 2018/03/08 17:57
Yes, u do have to pay $2.99 a month in order to apply to scholarships however I personally feel the benefits out weight the cost. It gives u easy access to these scholarships websites and if u consistently apply it will be worth it. My only complaint is that every time that I delete a matched scholarship the app crashes, this gets very frustrating at times. So I do wish the developer would fix the problem to. Otherwise I think it is a good app that will give access to your educational needs.
Subscription plan is bogus
by raniidays on 2019/05/03 12:56
The whole point of this app was to HELP college students find money to pay for school. I paid for the app and the small, one-time fee to try and get scholarships. Now, I log back on for the first time in a while and see that things have changed to a subscription-based, money-grubbing, greedy scheme to make money off of people who really don’t have the cash to spare. It’s disheartening and infuriating to see an app that was really great and pure turn into just another scam. I paid the one-time fee, and feel like that should have “grandfathered” me in to avoid having to pay a subscription fee in the future. What a load of garbage, Scholly!
Not worth a download
by lovethinemuse on 2019/04/26 05:24
Unless you’re willing right now to commit to $2.99 a month on the chance you get a scholarship, don’t bother downloading this app. The “free” option consists of “winning” sample essays and fluff articles, all of which can be found with a Google search and without taking up space on my phone. Back when it was first starting out I bought the app and didn’t really find anything of interest so I deleted it after about a year. I looked it up again because I’m in graduate school and thought it may have improved only to find that it switched to a subscription based system. Guess it’s getting deleted again.

Scholly has been a blessing and amazing resource for the overwhelming search for scholarships. App is well designed and organized logically, and only comes up with reliable scholarships. When I'm waiting/bored instead of spending a bunch of time on social media I research scholarships to apply to. Grateful to even have found this and I know already it's going to be well worth the monthly fee. Keep up the good work guys

Doesn’t Work!

Thank you!
So excited

I just recently downloaded the app (like literally hours ago) so I could get a head start I searching for scholarships so I can afford to go to one of my dream schools. I was so excited to use it, but when I went to look at scholarships it brought me to settings I don’t know if this is a bug or a glitch or what. Just thought it was weird that every time I clicked on “Scholarships” it brought me to “Settings.” In theory this is going to be an amazing app, I just can’t use it until this is fixed
AWESOME

This app is so incredible. I am pretty resourceful in finding scholarships, but this app introduced me to a whole new realm of scholarships I never knew existed. I know that people automatically get suspicious when having to pay for anything and ESPECIALLY when it’s for scholarships. However, as someone who has already applied for over 30 scholarships through Scholly, I can tell you it is worth every penny.
No free options

Can’t recommend or give a great rating to an app that claims to be created for students in financial need but is charging so much to use. The developer has a great story of struggle and resilience but this app is more about making money than helping students find money. Just another example of how privilege is an advantage to opportunity. If you really wanted to have a revolutionary app it would be free and change the lives of students that don’t have all the resources to higher education. Once this app shows that it’s mission is for the students and not for the money I will change my review.
Costs money, for scholarships??
by vicky07072017 on 2018/06/16 03:42
Normally I don’t leave reviews but this really irked me. I went onto this app because I need money for college. Read that again—NEED MONEY. AM BROKE. And after I filled out everything, I found out you have to pay monthly in order to get access to the scholarships. This is unfortunate because those using the app probably don’t have the extra money to spend (yes, even as little as $2.99 a month, which equals out to almost $36 yearly). I’m really disappointed. Don’t use the app if you don’t want to pay to apply for money that’s not even guaranteed.
Okay
by Mccorazon on 2017/12/10 20:59
Very good concept, and I’m excited to use it, but I have two issues with it. One is you are unable to view any scholarships at all without paying. If you do not pay, you’re able to fill out a profile, read a few sample essays, and view approximately four scholarship tips. Two, during the profile setup stage, some factors were repeated or phrased strangely, which was slightly confusing. However, I’m interested in how it works if you pay for it.
Waste of time
by JIGGLYCEREBRUM on 2018/07/11 12:01
Spent half an hour setting up my profile and checking all the boxes that match me from the hundreds it offers only to find out that if I want to actually see scholarships, I need to pay $2.99/mon. I used this app years ago when I was starting college, and they offered the chance to see scholarships you match with after just a one time fee. Maybe this change works for some, but I’ll go to a website that offers the same services this one offers for free.
Need to PAY for it!
by Eva.Angel😇✨ on 2019/03/03 18:02
I got this app seeing all the potential. It is a great eye opener and gives you access to unlimited opportunities for scholarships. BUT, if you click free all you have access to is a little bit of advice in a few articles, nothing good that the app advertises. All the scholarships and the matching, editors, everything you have to pay for with either the monthly or yearly package. Keep this in mind before you get your hopes up like I did.😊
Disappointed

I was happy to finally see an app that had the ability to find college scholarships. After signing up for an account, I was immediately disappointed with the result. It had a monthly fee or a yearly fee. With my family being tight on money, I went to my home screen and deleted the app. I don’t understand why you would make something that costs money when as a child, the founder was part of a family that was laid off. I’m guessing he didn’t have an extra $5 laying around. I’m going to find a new app that is free.
Scholly mini review
by NATO Poppins on 2019/05/07 15:34
So this app interface is amazing and I am one of the people who bought the app before the subscription so I don’t have to buy that. However, I do have one big complaint. I have spent many hours writing and responding to the scholarships that are presented to me and I have never won a single scholarship. I think its a cool idea but I cannot help but wonder if this thing actually works. Is it like playing the lotto? Those are my thoughts.
No way to sort by age or degree
by Lauryn Effie on 2019/01/25 22:37
Has been a good way to show me scholarships I wouldn’t normally know about but It would be really nice for the age to be an input option. A lot of my ‘matches’ are for students under 18 and as a person going back to school I am 15 years older than that. Does a really poor job of sorting for graduate degrees as well. I don’t know if the information is used for matching or not but again my ‘matches’ are for someone without a degree, someone in high school or trying to go to undergrad.
Disappointed
by Herro951 on 2019/05/01 15:00
I watched this app get on shark tank and as a first generation college student I saw some hope in this app. So years ago while in high schools I paid for this app. And just like many other people in these reviews I’m disappointed that they decided to switch from a one time payment to a monthly subscription. You have to understand you are marketing this app to broke college student who need money, and those who aren’t able to pay a monthly fee to maybe get a scholarship. Beyond disappointed. One star would not recommend anymore.
Definitely NOT worth it!
by someone just trying to help on 2018/01/19 05:11
There are so many other places and sites the provide services just like this one for FREE! The only thing it’s actually useful for is keeping track of the ones you said you applied to and clicked a button in the app saying you did which you can just do in your notes. The “Scholly Score” or whatever it’s called to show how much you match for a scholarship changes by the second and ends up going back to 3 for pretty much every scholarship. If you want something like this, I suggest a site called Fastweb
“YOUR SCHOLARSHIPS ARE WAITING. CLICK HERE TO PAY!”
by loutslove on 2019/04/24 17:33
This right here about sums up the ridiculous irony of this app. The very first email sent to me after registering with their system, this was the EXACT link button message. We are looking to SAVE money, not SPEND money. Basically these people want to be paid for doing some of the research and organization for us. Some people might find that worth it. I personally do not. I can use the internet too, friends. Thanks, but no thanks. Good intentions, poor application. Wishing everyone luck in the pursuit to afford their educational goals!
Disappointed
by Grrlesque on 2018/03/05 04:38
I signed up, filled out all the info, checked several category boxes to generate results, and... nothing. Not a single scholarship listed. It gave me a few essays to read as inspiration I guess, but not a single lead on a scholarship. I guess you have to pay for anything to show up, but I’m wary of spending any money for it to return without results again. Is this really the result I should be getting? I’ve found plenty of scholarships to apply for on my own, so I guess I’ll have to keep doing things the hard way.
Scam
by Gabz101464 on 2019/08/24 02:23
Forty four dollars to use this platform? What a shame coming from a developer who used to be homeless. Even with this 3-day trial, I still wouldn't be able to get a scholarship in THREE DAYS. Please fix the trial period for those who are seeking help when it comes to paying off their future tuition. I got very excited for such a useful app just to be asked for money that my family can't spend easily. Either way, I'm an incoming senior, and I don't need a whole year to find these scholarships, I need 6 months...better to do it the ol' fashion way!
