Whenever I fly, I use this app so I can watch movies. It may not have every movie I like, but some of them. So basically free movies while flying. If anyone is seeing this... Download before you leave to the airport!

The Programmers do not seem to understand that people outside of their community do not buy new gadgets every year. The app does not work for my older iPads, the app does not work on my windows laptop. If it only works for my newish smartphone, then it isn’t free, and it is of no value to the excluded.

I think this app is perfect. It allows me to watch movies on the plane. Also: Don’t blame Alaska airlines if your app doesn’t work. Now you can just watch movies on their website, when you use the WiFi. Alaska airlines is amazing and awesome and I just wanna give a shout out to the flight attendants. The flight attendants work super hard to come to work everyday with a smile on their face. No other airline has flight attendants that nice. And when the travelers are grumpy and don’t have something they need, Alaska is there to help out nicely. So stop being mean and saying this app is trash you can find nicer words to explain your troubles. Seriously people I think you are way better then this don’t be so mean to the developers. Thanks!

The number of things wrong w the app and the service is enormous. Difficult to connect (more than not, 10 minutes, and on a recent flight, after 15 minutes I stopped trying), painfully slow connection speed (back in the day, dial up was faster) for just email and non video related browsing Most recent flight, I never connected as “cookies” were not enabled, which they were, and dispute rebooting my iPhone and then my iPad, no success The only reason this company continues in business, is they are a monopoly and have ya captive— if we had a choice of services, they would be out of business in a week And yes... I will try again on my next flight, and they will again take my money, but that is what a monopoly does

We flew Alaska. Loaded app but didn’t go past advertisement. The app did not even show up in Setting on iPad. It does work on iPhone 10. We didn’t need to use the iPad just wanted to try to see if it is true. Like they say, too good to be true ...

On a recent trip with my wife the App kept stalling on my phone (iPhone 6). I could never get it to work. My wife wasn’t using her phone (iPhone 7) so I asked if I could try it. Hers was a bit glitchy, but overall worked well enough.

Currently on an Alaska flight and have just enough connectivity to write this review. The bandwidth available after purchasing is archaic. In order to connect after purchase I had to power down my phone and reconnect and even then it takes minutes to just display an email. The app is required to stream movies but DO NOT pay for WiFi from this company.

I recently took a flight with two legs out and back. Making the app work on my IPad was an exercise in frustration on all of the flights. After watching the Alaska Airlines add 5-6 times, I used the chat feature. Support told me to clear my browse cache. I did that and it disconnected my chat session. Upon restarting Safari and the app it worked... sort of. Getting the movies to launch was still painful. I had to select the movie and click the watch button. The first several times it returned me to the select movie screen. Finally it allowed me to open in the actual GoGo app. Long flights. A couple movies played without issue. Of the other three two froze 15-20 minutes from the end. After waiting 5 minutes I tried restarting everything. No good. Started over with cleaning cache, selecting movie several time, watching commercial yet again, and the fast forwarding to end of movie. I finally got to see the end of the movies. It happened a second time with one of the movies. One of the other movies froze multiple times but started playing again. Free is free, I give this two stars because I got to watch some movies I had not seen before. But the application and implementation needs serious work. This application is a detriment to Alaska Airliners reputation, a company known for its good customer service.

On my flight to my destination I was able to connect. On my current flight I can't connect because it keeps telling me that my wifi isn’t on...which it is. This app is often an issue on flights. I hate when I have to fly on an airline that uses them. So I’m on a quest to try to get as many people To complain to their airlines for them to stop using your app and maybe you’ll improve it then.

Spend $6 for WiFi on Alaska to download ap to watch movies. Got the app which prompts me to open a browser to search movies. Then I select a movie and it tells me “ you must have Gogo app to watch” with a close button... I have the app and it doesn’t recognize it at all. System doesn’t work and now I have to write Alaska to get my $6 back. There must’ve a better way.. and if not opportunity is knocking for the competition.

I couldn’t get in work on my Alaska flight on both devices iPhone 6 and 3rd gen iPad. It only worked on my wife’s iPhone 11 pro. Tried to play with mobile browser settings as suggested in Alaska app pop up but nothing helped.

I used this on Alaska Airlines, and the app just isn’t worth it. Despite being supposedly able to work even when the plane doesn’t have internet, the app tried to run an ad before playing anything, and that ad couldn’t load because there was no internet! Infuriating... Additionally I tried a few movies but wasn’t able to find any with subtitles. The experience was awful and the video player, for whatever unknown reason, doesn’t use the iOS-native player and doesn’t have anything like seeking or skip forward/back, etc.

This app is worthless. I purchased a one month pass in October 2019 because I had 5 business trips in October and was flying Alaska Air for each trip. I did not realize that the app is only available on a select few aircraft. Out of my 10 flights, the app was available on just 2. Yup, 2 out of 10 flights. The WiFi worked on the first flight for about an hour, but only after about 20 minutes of "live chat". Very frustrating. When it went down, I couldn't reconnect on my own and was also unable to connect to the live chat function. On my next flight, I couldn't connect, but was able to connect to the "live chat". That was when I learned that the app is only available on a select few aircraft. They need to do a much better job of telling people the app is not available on every flight. However, they are more interested in getting the $49.95 than in good service. On my one other flight on which the app was available, I was able to use WiFi for about 20 minutes. Despite spending 30 minutes on the live chat function, I was never able to reconnect. Then, to add insult to injury, I learned that the one month pass I purchased is actually a subscription! My credit card has been charged for November, December, and January. Still trying to get them to cancel the service. Very deceptive to call something a one month pass when it's actually a monthly pass. DO NOT BUY!

It’s clear from this app that Gogo does not care for its customers. Since they have no competition when it comes to inflight media, they feel as they can deliver cheap, subpar products to customers. I wasted my entire 2 hour flight simply because the the move “had expired”. I would avoid using this app at all costs as it is simply a piece of crap. As a developer myself, I could not see how anyone who built this garbage could be proud of their work.

App is fine, usually the inflight wifi is the problem. But on another note: can’t the developers just name it Gogo, why GoGo entertainment? It’s ugly on my home screen because my iphone 11 can’t show the full text and it cuts off before the ‘ment’. Is it that hard t-mobile??

I purchased a one day pass for $16 on a Delta flight and on the first leg of my flight, however, the WiFi on the plane was not working, so I couldn’t use it. On the second leg of my flight, the WiFi on the plane was working but no movies would load...there was an icon that kept spinning but it was so slow nothing would load. Finally I just stopped trying and played solitaire...requested a refund...absolutely no response. Complete waste of money.

I never, never take the time to review or critique apps but my god GoGo is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a company. I am trying to purchase WiFi and give them money and it never loads and always crashes! This is absolutely ridiculous and I swear I am about to start my own company to rival their monopoly on in flight WiFi. Figure your sh** out GoGo! I hate this app I hate this company. I bought WiFi and then it failed to kid and I wanted $20. I will be telling ALL of my friends and everyone I know to leave 1 Star review absolutely ridiculous!!!!

We might fairly expect more glitches when operating an app and internet connection at 30,000 feet. However, that’s really not what’s going on here. An app/website is garbage if any of the following are true: (1) uses adobe flash in any way in 2019 (2) gives you instructions for Safari desktop on iPad (3) app is pointlessly divided between browser/in-app player because devs apparently didn’t know how to bring up a browser widget in app. All of these are true for the Delta/Gogo in flight entertainment. The third is icing on cake, where even if you have predownloaded the app on an iPad, it can bounce you to safari, then fail to open a link back to the gogo entertainment app, instead giving you erroneous instructions to install flash (ie 2 and 1).

I don’t need to say much about the app itself that hasn’t already been said. My concern is primarily how subtitles aren’t available for all the movies or tv series. I tried reaching out to customer service to understand why. They said it was due to a contract agreement that treated subtitles like a paid feature in order to be included. I suspect this person had no clue what he was talking about. Captioning or subtitles aren’t just some ‘additional’ feature that’s part of some payment structure, it’s an essential part of all movies and tv shows and all movies in the last decade have come with subtitles, so this was a deliberate act of excluding a built in feature that already existed. I challenge them to exclude the audio portion of the movie. Right. Same idea. It wouldn’t fly. (No pun intended) Why is it okay to discriminate? I don’t get it. Do the right thing. When you don’t include, you unconsciously exclude.
The app is worthless garbage

This app claims it helps streaming on mobile devices like iPhone and iPad as these devices no longer support Flash; which is a whole different subject. Instead, what really happens is you download the app, then when you open it, you get the message that you need to select a movie. It then sends you back Delta Studios via the browser and when you click on a movie and hit “watch” you are instructed to add Adobe Flash to your browser; which you cannot do on an iPad. Thus... no streaming. I tried this several times. Even uninstalling and reinstalling the app. All this thing does is send you in an endless loop from app to Delta (or whichever airline) which then tells you to install Flash. Incredibly frustrating and a massive waste of time. Airlines that wan to encourage streaming on mobile devises need to incorporate HTML5. The end.

I paid $16 for WiFi on my flight out of JFK, but it didn’t work even once the whole ~2 hours. Before someone says it must’ve just been that plane, the app would eventually open, only to tell me I couldn’t use it until we were in flight... when we were cruising at 40,000 feet. How does this company stay on business?

Fails to play Movie

I just updated before my flight today, and I could not get it to play a movie in flight. It was able to thank me for downloading the app, and I could play a preview of the movie, but not the movie itself. It kept saying that the movie could only be watched inflight and that “You can access your video within 24 hours on another flight on the same airline as your initial rental.” Loading was also very laggy, as if it were downloading the whole app each time I used it.

I’ve flown with Alaska Airlines for some time now. This trip I discovered that I no longer have the GoGo app on my phone- so no entertainment this flight. I got to my destination & got on WiFi only to learn it won’t download at all.

It sounds like a good app, but you can’t use it. Maybe they should have thought about the fact that you can’t download it on the flight. With Delta airlines you have WiFi to text. And I don’t know if you can only use it on the plane? Because it won’t let me open it. Just because I’m not on the plane doesn’t mean I don’t want to watch free movies. This app could have been a good app if the people who made it had just thought things through.

U’m not quite sure what’s going on but it is telling me I need Adobe Flash Player. U’m hello iPad = no flash. So half the people on my flight can look at the titles but not watch the movies? Is this due to iOS identifying as MacOS?

The app doesn’t tie into the airplane’s PA system? ie you do not hear any instructions from the crew....lol everyone on the plane has headphones in trying to get movies to load instead of hearing any information from the flight deck. How did this app get approved?! But at least what I watch gets tracked and sold!

For those that are complaining about the Adobe Flash issue. A simple search on the App Support screen walks you through how to toggle off the “desktop” version of the website. The app simply doesn’t realize you are on a mobile device (apple wants you to experience desktop quality sites on an iPad). Once you turn that off, you’ll be good. I’d give 5 stars if the app had a 10sec rewind/fast forward button. It would also be nice to have a scrubber that showed what time you’re at in the movie. When I change flights, I remember that I’m 47 minutes into the movie, but it’s very difficult to guesstimate where I’m at when I’m trying to drag the status button to where I left off.

I was just on Alaska yesterday and checked the App Store before taking off and was able to update the app, and it worked. However, it still does not work on the iPad. Told me I needed to install Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash does not work on iPad/Safari. I checked to see if there was an iPadOS update and there is not.

This fails to work on iPad with iOS 13.1. The website thinks I’m on OS X so it keeps telling me to enable flash instead of invoking this app. So I had to pay out of pocket to borrow on of those inflight entertainment device to watch movies. Every platform deprecated flash because it’s so dangerous and here we are in October 2019 and gogo is asking everyone to install it. Even adobe who owns flash is discouraging everyone from installing it. Gogo needs a better software team.

I could not even watch a 2 hour movie on a 5 hour flight because the connection was awful and my move had to buffer every few minutes, and that buffering took anywhere between two minutes to fifteen minutes at a time. You’re better off spending some money for actual service. Or better yet, spend the extra money on a flight that has movies on board. Avoid this.

Heres my experience in a semi-play-by-play foremat: Connect to the signal, get routed to another screen, prove your not a robot, create an account, get told your going to have to pay what I feel is an LOT of $ for something that should be a complimentary service inflight, enter your CC #. Try and log in, be told you need to download the app, go to download the app and be told your not connected to the internet, go back to the login screen and try to log in, it doesn't work, back all the way out and try again, log in, still not a robot, get access to the main menu, click on the show you want to watch and get notified this flight isn't offering in flight video, back put and try to log into google, facebook, says there is no internet... After literally 45 minutes of complete frustration and wasted time I give up and try and take a nap because my head hurts. When I land I get an email thanking me for my purchase and gives me a receipt. As far as Im concerned YOU OWE ME MY $$ BACK!! Plus a few more bucks for damages. DO NOT USE THIS APP!!!

Granted it’s essential to watch free films, but wow. Quite crappy. I own a third gen ipad. And use it to watch films on Alaska. You’re better off spending $9.99 to rent the digiplayer. I stopped travelling with my ipad because it’s pointless. The free movies are all crap old films. The only new films are on the digiplayer but they don’t tell you that part you’re just confused as to why you don’t have access to the same films since they advertise it that way. The app barely works. How hard can it be to make a good looking functional app? Hard apparently. This thing is super bare bones. It’s like roboticists made the app. These guys make cool robots but terrible interfaces. It feels like you’re using a windows 97 media player on a 333mhz computer that’s about to send you a blue screen of death for guess what doing its sole function “Play A Movie”

I have flown on several 5-6 hour Alaska Airlines flights over the last three months, which utilize this app, several of these flights with 2 kids and iPads. Only to have my kids in tears because the movie app either works for half the flight, works on one iPad and not the other, or doesn’t work at all. After the first flight when it didn’t work, I reached out to their customer service for help, and was told I needed to use their chat feature while in flight to trouble shoot, however, the chat feature has never worked while in flight. And once you land you can no longer try and chat because the app is no longer available. When you send them an email, with screen shots of your issues, their only reply is to use the inflight chat. When I wrote to them saying I did try that, but it wouldn’t work, they said “Chat is always available”, which is flat out BS because I even showed the flight attendant, and spoke with others around me having the same issues, and not one of us could use the inflight chat nor the movie features. So my advice is download it, if it works it works, but definitely don’t count on it as your main source of inflight entertainment because chances are, it won’t work for you.

I was dubious about downloading this app after reading the HORRIBLE reviews left recently. They all had 1 thing in common, they were all on different airlines (Delta, American Airlines, etc.) No one had recently reviewed their experience with Alaska. I was able to download the app in the air on my IPhone 8 Plus using their FREE Wifi from Seattle to LAX. I was able to watch Oceans 8 with headphones and subtitles because I sometimes miss details when they have accents. It was an easy interface through the app and I could have accessed through Safari. It worked perfectly for me. Thank you, Alaska for going the extra mile and making it possible to have free entertainment on my flight. And to the app developers, I would drop an airline that does not back your play, man! That’s not helping you guys get anywhere. I am glad I took a chance and downloaded this app.

I recently took a flight with two legs out and back. Making the app work on my IPad was an exercise in frustration on all of the flights. After watching the Alaska Airlines add 5-6 times, I used the chat feature. Support told me to clear my browse cache. I did that and it disconnected my chat session. Upon restarting Safari and the app it worked... sort of. Getting the movies to launch was still painful. I had to select the movie and click the watch button. The first several times it returned me to the select movie screen. Finally it allowed me to open in the actual GoGo app. Long flights. A couple movies played without issue. Of the other three two froze 15-20 minutes from the end. After waiting 5 minutes I tried restarting everything. No good. Started over with cleaning cache, selecting movie several time, watching commercial yet again, and the fast forwarding to end of movie. I finally got to see the end of the movies. It happened a second time with one of the movies. One of the other movies froze multiple times but started playing again. Free is free, I give this two stars because I got to watch some movies I had not seen before. But the application and implementation needs serious work. This application is a detriment to Alaska Airliners reputation, a company known for its good customer service.

Difficult to make this app run on an iPhone (6s in this case). Unclear instructions on how to initiate (lag through browser doesn’t help) and it’s unclear when the airplane WiFi has actually connected. WiFi / app dropped out frequently. Once running app was smooth for a while. Was able to watch about an hour of a movie; longest uninterrupted stretch was about 40minutes. After about 1 hour of a 2 hour movie the app wouldn’t reconnect at all. Something of a movie watchers teaser because now I need to buy the movie to see the closing half... Unfortunately the situation (lack of reliability) created by the app seems to be designed to claw a few more $ out of your pocket by encouraging users to cave in and rent the airline movie player. Better off downloading movie content onto your device prior to the flight and avoid paying unnecessary movie player rental fees. Overall, don’t bother with this app until it is substantially improved.

I was trying to install the app for one of my family phones and it was completely impossible to make it work without a cell phone connection to receive a double verification even though I was approving in person. Somebody does not have common sense with these approvals. I had 3 hrs to try everything within my means and it was a 4hr flight frustration. The app works well but apple is not what it used to be!!
Works on iPad Pro iOS 13.1, if you know what to do.

For those that are complaining about the Adobe Flash issue. A simple search on the App Support screen walks you through how to toggle off the “desktop” version of the website. The app simply doesn’t realize you are on a mobile device (apple wants you to experience desktop quality sites on an iPad). Once you turn that off, you’ll be good. I’d give 5 stars if the app had a 10sec rewind/fast forward button. It would also be nice to have a scrubber that showed what time you’re at in the movie. When I change flights, I remember that I’m 47 minutes into the movie, but it’s very difficult to guesstimate where I’m at when I’m trying to drag the status button to where I left off.

Initially disappointed because we didn’t have the movie screens in the back of the seats. After hearing the announcement before take-off, I looked in the back of the American Way and found instructions on how to access. I was disappointed again because I saw where you must download the app PRIOR to take-off. However, there is a workaround to use their WiFi for free, access a website and download the app. Best case scenario is still to download ahead of time though, since downloading in-flight cuts into your movie time. I was able to enjoy a currently pay-per-view box office hit on my home TV provider on my iPad. Great selection of movies.

I don’t need to say much about the app itself that hasn’t already been said. My concern is primarily how subtitles aren’t available for all the movies or tv series. I tried reaching out to customer service to understand why. They said it was due to a contract agreement that treated subtitles like a paid feature in order to be included. I suspect this person had no clue what he was talking about. Captioning or subtitles aren’t just some ‘additional’ feature that’s part of some payment structure, it’s an essential part of all movies and tv shows and all movies in the last decade have come with subtitles, so this was a deliberate act of excluding a built in feature that already existed. I challenge them to exclude the audio portion of the movie. Right. Same idea. It wouldn’t fly. (No pun intended) Why is it okay to discriminate? I don’t get it. Do the right thing. When you don’t include, you unconsciously exclude.

This app claims it helps streaming on mobile devices like iPhone and iPad as these devices no longer support Flash; which is a whole different subject. Instead, what really happens is you download the app, then when you open it, you get the message that you need to select a movie. It then sends you back Delta Studios via the browser and when you click on a movie and hit “watch” you are instructed to add Adobe Flash to your browser; which you cannot do on an iPad. Thus... no streaming. I tried this several times. Even uninstalling and reinstalling the app. All this thing does is send you in an endless loop from app to Delta (or whichever airline) which then tells you to install Flash. Incredibly frustrating and a massive waste of time. Airlines that wan to encourage streaming on mobile devises need to incorporate HTML5. The end.

I’ve used this App on 4 flights with Alaska Airlines.. The App has promise but I always feel like I’m the beta tester and each time something has gone wrong. (1) It’s hard to get it to start. (2) The good news is the first time I used it the main menu displays your entertainment choices in an orderly fashion. (3) But each time I’ve used the App two weird things happen: if you start a movie you can’t toggle out of it - if you attempt this the App freezes (if that happens you’re done - no more entertainment). The next time you log in you are directed to your “library” where your “stuck movie” is stored AND THERE IS NO WAY TO GET BACK TO THE MAIN MENU.. What this company needs to do is to hire a few programmers AND then hire a test group to Beta test it on their dime not my time...

I love Alaska/Virgin, flown frequently with them. 1 star is honest feedback because the App is broken more times than it works. In places with coverage (I.e continental U.S.) it’s fine. The problem is the inflight onboard movies. Since there are no built in head rest entertainment units, long flights over the ocean to Hawaii, mixed with broken apps is bad combination. I got it to work on my phone once, and my Ipad wouldn’t launch at all. It would tell me to be sure I have the app downloaded which I did and was sure it was updated as well on both devices. I tried all standard fixes, like getting on and off WiFi, powering off my devices, nothing. When the watch now button is pressed it either does nothing or reverts back to the yellow message to be sure to download the app. Frustrating.

After booking my Delta flight for Thanksgiving, I read about this app and despite the poor reviews decided to give it a try. So glad I did as it worked perfectly. As soon as the plane reached cruising altitude, I selected the free entertainment wifi, selected my movie and started watching. I was very impressed with the wide selection of movies for all ages and genre, the clarity, and ease. If you are undecided about using this free service, don't be, download it and make your flight more enjoyable. I also set up the app for my non-techie husband, and he had no problems.

I fly Alaska quite often and I never have any issues with this app. It may occasionally buffer. However, it is never for very long ... I have read some horrible reviews on this but I have used it for a couple years now and I always seems to do me right. While I don’t use internet while flying ... I thunk it is quite standard to charge for internet service ... movie selection is adequate for wasting a few hours in the sky and the texting IS free of charge so that is kewl. All in all ... I am satisfied with the app.

Anyone having issues just navigating the app is to blame. It’s very user friendly. I fly Alaska frequently and have never needed assistance to get set up and watch a show or movie. Once in awhile the connectivity will fail but it’s by no fault of the app. Usually only happens on a turbulent flight, but very infrequently. Love it, so grateful this airline gives you free movies and shows and messaging through multiple apps. Also, if you have T-Mobile, you get an hour of free WiFi when connecting through your phone.

I can’t speak for the people having poor connectivity on their flights, but those not understanding how to download or navigate it must be quite the smooth brained individuals. You connect to the WiFi, it redirects you to the homepage, you click on the in-fight entertainment, click your film, and then it provides a link to download from the App Store. Delta had a quick download and not a single issue, managed to get my movie up and running in 30 seconds.

Worse, when you do go to the app store, unless you have service 1,000 ft. In the air you cant get to the app store so then you literally still have to wait the rest of the freaking flight and then go download the app. LIKE WTH! This is literally a floofing waste of tome unless you cant live without WiFi and are always flying. So, if you're bored out of your mind, don't download this app🤦🏼‍♀️

This is a great app to entertain you on a long flight. It has lots of newer movies and it has a kids selection as well! It’s great for my 6 year old who gets bored on long flights. However, it only works for certain airlines. A lot of reviews have complained about this but you can look up on google, safari, etc. which airlines this app serves and you might find yours. Didn’t work at all, it might be due to the airline(starts with an A and ends with an A) I was flying in, because my other flights worked great, but this one did not. This flight had the nice seats and tv monitor were you can watch a movie or show, but oh wait! You need headphones, not Bluetooth headphones but you are able to buy some headphones with a jack from us $$. Sounds like a sneaky way to make some extra $$. Well good thing I downloaded the app before I lost service. That way I can watch it here on this app....oh by the way there is a chance it might not work due to the amount of passenger using the network......what....ummm...okay well awesome good to know.... Disappointing in flight entertainment application

I fly with most of the major carriers and my experience with the GoGo entertainment app is not good. I’ve re-installed the app at least 5 times (while in flight) to no avail. I continue to receive an error message. I have searched the FAQs on the error message and I have followed the guided instructions. Still not working. There are several reviews from other passengers who have shared in this (disappointing) experience. If I ever fly Alaskan again I will remember to “skip” the app and just download content directly to my iPad. ....which isn’t a bad idea because Alaska’s catalog was not that impressive, and this app is clunky and unreliable (and that’s being generous.)

If you have a long flight coming up, don’t rely on Alaska’s onboard WiFi and this app to keep you entertained. WiFi is easily overloaded and crawls, then drops halfway through the app install. The app would not install on my husband’s iPhone 6x despite at least 20 tries. It installed easily on my iPad Air and installed after about the 8th attempt on my iPhone X. Also, the user interface is really hard to use because it tries to load all movies/tv/everything all at once. Filtering is painful and clumsy. You are better off loading up your device with Netflix or Prime video downloads before you go.

The most tedious portion of this was downloading it after being in the air. Great idea by delta IMO. App worked great. Don’t understand the super aggressive DOWNLOAD BEFORE YOU FLY rant but yeah it would be more convenient if I had done that. Delta planes vary on amenities but I’d recommend just downloading it and updating before the next trip or now that I know about it I’m going to delete it and redone load the night prior. Good app and idea overall. Jim gaffigan was right when he said we have gotten too spoiled when it comes to travel.

I’m still waiting for my app to download and have doubts the streaming will be much. I have struggled with even getting to this point, as Alaska does a pretty bad job of letting you know how to navigate to this page and the “free WiFi” is actually not free unless you’re a t-mobile customer — making it near impossible to find the streaming services otherwise. That would have been helpful to know before booking the flight. Otherwise it’s ~$40, depending on the package you purchase. Even after you pay for it, there is barely any bandwidth. Fingers crossed this comment makes it across the WiFi threshold so other can be warned.

It’s amazing what some people will complain about. People are annoyed that they didn’t know about the app before the flight so give it one star? Really? This app is solid. It took about 5 minutes to download (I did spring for WiFi on the plane) and the movies stream perfectly. The quality is very good, and its nice to be able to see these on my iPad rather than the screen on the seat back.

Seated in an exit room with no screen so tried the Go Go app that Delta suggested for watching a movie. Downloaded the app and tried watching the first move. App says movie is not available try another. So try another. That ones not available. Ok, try another. That’ not available either. N9w mind you the second and third choices are of mine are movies that have been out for 3 and 6 years now so I don’t expect demand to be high at this time. So try another. You guessed it, movie not available. I think the app is just not available in any shape or form. Don’t waste your time with it at the moment.

This app combined with American Airlines weak streaming makes for an unstable and mostly nonfunctioning app. After downloading the app fresh for my outbound flight, it worked for one movie, but would not queue up a second one for my six hour flight. On the return, it never worked at all. It kept telling me to download the app even though I verified that I had the latest version already. Even after deleting and reinstalling the app it didn't function to load a movie. It did successfully stream one trailer for about three minutes. What a waste of my time. AA should be ashamed to have such a lousy application associated with them!

So I’ve used this app before and it had worked perfectly with no problems, but my last two flights didn’t want to work. I have to say that even though I couldn’t get the problem completely trouble shot, the tech support was very friendly and helpful as much as they possibly could be, so for that I say 4 stars and thank you :) after all user error is the number one error in technology!

I think this app is perfect. It allows me to watch movies on the plane. Also: Don’t blame Alaska airlines if your app doesn’t work. Now you can just watch movies on their website, when you use the WiFi. Alaska airlines is amazing and awesome and I just wanna give a shout out to the flight attendants. The flight attendants work super hard to come to work everyday with a smile on their face. No other airline has flight attendants that nice. And when the travelers are grumpy and don’t have something they need, Alaska is there to help out nicely. So stop being mean and saying this app is trash you can find nicer words to explain your troubles. Seriously people I think you are way better then this don’t be so mean to the developers. Thanks!

I have used this app every flight for a couple years now and it’s fabulous! It just sits in the background and pops up when needed to watch a show or movie in the air. I recently forgot to download it from the cloud because it had been a while since my last flight, and I was able to download it from the air without paying for a wifi pass! I tried to use free entertainment on my flight and like always the movies say please try again or resource not found. Feeling lucky, I purchased full flight wifi for a 21 dollar scam. After a solid hour I realized I’d rather get dragged off of United Airlines than sit here and suffer with no TV. This company deserves a 0/5 for this absolutely horrible wifi. On top of that, I told my brother to see if it worked for him. Guess what happened? With no surprise, he was scammed. I realized halfway through my flight that I had just paid for nothing. Thank you Delta for continuously letting me down. You will not see me on your flight ever again.

I recommend it to everyone because if you have a long flight this app will be your best friend. I have only had a few errors using the app but none that would really frustrate me. I would give this app 5 stars IF IT HAD A SUBTITLES OPTION! They have a great selection of movies and tv shows and I was very excited to begin watching one of these. I pressed play and went to click on closed captioning, but come to find out they don’t have subtitles for any of their entertainment. I am truly devastated and quite upset that I wouldn’t be able to watch anything I was looking forward to because I cannot hear. Once this app includes functions for the deaf community I will give this 5 stars. As of now they’re only getting a 2 from me. Do better, Go-go entertainment! :(

If the app work, it is good. Although Wi-Fi doesn’t kick in until plane is at altitude 10k feet or higher, which means a down time. Problem is that, most of the times, app stay stocked on what you were watching previously and doesn’t prompt browser to start for new shows or movies. So, I have to delete the app after each flight and download again. BTW, you can’t download it in flight, as you can’t access App Store. In that case you better have another plan for entertainment, especially on long flight. American, now that you don’t invest to add individual monitors on the seats, at least give a full access to Wi-Fi.

I happen to be on an Alaska Air flight this time (continental U.S.), but this app rarely works and the customer “service” is a joke. Gogo is usually just a waste of time and source of frustration, and I end up just reading a book instead. Some people have commented that anyone having trouble with it is just a case of user error or something, but on more than one occasion the flight attendants have tried to help and they can’t get it to work either and the live chat support likewise is a waste of time. If it’s user error, the real problem is poor usability design and engineering.

I’ve used this app on all airlines that accept it (AA, United, etc) with no issues. The fact that there is no WiFi until 10k feet with some airlines is an issue with the airline, not the Gogo app. Further, the instructions clearly give you the option of using the airlines app as the viewing mechanism. Nothing about the functionality of this app was a surprise after reading the instructions.

Downloaded the APP and paid for a full flight of WiFi so that I could watch movies on a 4 hour flight. Needless to say the only entertainment I had was trying to get the APP to work. I tried 12 different movies but only got the notice that my movie couldn’t be found try again later or try a different movie. I spent the entire flight trying different things from the APP’s help page but nothing worked. I had WiFi because I was able to read emails, surf the web and social media but no movies. What a joke, 1 star was to good but you can’t select no stars!

This app will not download over WiFi while plane is in the air, so you can only get the movies and shows if you download the app while on the ground, even though in the Delta magazine it says it should be able to download on the ground or in the air. There’s also a weird connection between the delta website and the app, it would be better if you just had it all in the app like United does. At a minimum, get a decent connection speed on Delta so we can actually download and watch the movies and shows, thanks.

Overall I like the interface and it’s a pretty strong replacement to classic headrest screens for movie viewing... HOWEVER (big however here). You can’t watch movies without the app. And you can’t download the app over the free WiFi. What genius made it a requirement to download this for viewing... when Delta only offers texting-enabled low-speed WiFi. Just another example of a good idea with terrible execution. I had to write this review after landing... when the download finished.

This app is amazing it has bad reviews so I didn’t know if I should download it but I was in the middle of flight and needed a movie you can download the app in the middle of the flight and watch just connect to there WiFi the only is it was a little hard to figure out but in like 5 minutes I did so I recommend this app very much

I used this on Alaska Airlines, and the app just isn’t worth it. Despite being supposedly able to work even when the plane doesn’t have internet, the app tried to run an ad before playing anything, and that ad couldn’t load because there was no internet! Infuriating... Additionally I tried a few movies but wasn’t able to find any with subtitles. The experience was awful and the video player, for whatever unknown reason, doesn’t use the iOS-native player and doesn’t have anything like seeking or skip forward/back, etc.
Gogo app problems

I have been connected to the WiFi for an hour now with the Gogo app and all and I still cannot get my movie or video to load. It just keeps saying the movie isn’t working or retrievable. I also think it is really stupid I have to pay for WiFi. Delta is big, they should be able to sustain their own WiFi without us suffering for it. I’m not if it just doesn’t work on my phone on what, but nothing works. I just wanted some music at least. This app is not user friendly.

Was unable to play any movies or TV shows (“your video is unavailable” error for each one) using an iPhone 6S on a 14 hour flight with no screen available to me. Needless to say, it made the flight feel a lot longer and was extremely disappointing. The installation and usage of the app worked fine while in flight, but since I couldn’t actually watch anything it doesn’t deserve more than a 1 star. Clearly the developers haven’t done enough testing. If you’re on an older version of the app that works, don’t update!

Everyone was saying this doesn’t work but I used it from Chicago to Atlanta at cruising altitude and the movies ran smoothly. They did not take any time to load and the picture quality was fine (780p) Tons of movies to choose from. Would definitely recommend on flights with no on board screen!

Smug passengers and stow it with their "download before boarding" rants. I am not a frequent flyer and I do not hang around people affiliated with airports. I buy the most cost effective flight and prey that the person next to me has no perfume or BO. The idea to have passengers use their personnel electronic devices for inflight media is novel. Unfortunately the requirement for an "app" is forgotten during the execution. Passengers who chose no to purchase inflight wifi must share a small bandwidth connection to download an app. Why the software engineers decided to designate a port of downloading this app is beyond me. I can only suspect that they engineer team did not want to invest the time and effort. Took an hour to obtain the app and it drained half my battery. I'll more then likely delete this app in a week and forget to pre-download it next time. Or I'll remember the frustration and chose to fly United Airlines.

I never, never take the time to review or critique apps but my god GoGo is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a company. I am trying to purchase WiFi and give them money and it never loads and always crashes! This is absolutely ridiculous and I swear I am about to start my own company to rival their monopoly on in flight WiFi. Figure your sh** out GoGo! I hate this app I hate this company. I bought WiFi and then it failed to kid and I wanted $20. I will be telling ALL of my friends and everyone I know to leave 1 Star review absolutely ridiculous!!!!

I’d say it took me maybe three minutes or so to connect to the internet and find a movie? To be fair I’m into technology but ANYONE should be able to figure this app out. Don’t trust most of these reviews, they can’t even figure out how to remove a movie when your done.

The Programmers do not seem to understand that people outside of their community do not buy new gadgets every year. The app does not work for my older iPads, the app does not work on my windows laptop. If it only works for my newish smartphone, then it isn’t free, and it is of no value to the excluded.

I think this app is perfect. It allows me to watch movies on the plane. Also: Don’t blame Alaska airlines if your app doesn’t work. Now you can just watch movies on their website, when you use the WiFi. Alaska airlines is amazing and awesome and I just wanna give a shout out to the flight attendants. The flight attendants work super hard to come to work everyday with a smile on their face. No other airline has flight attendants that nice. And when the travelers are grumpy and don’t have something they need, Alaska is there to help out nicely. So stop being mean and saying this app is trash you can find nicer words to explain your troubles. Seriously people I think you are way better then this don’t be so mean to the developers. Thanks!

The number of things wrong w the app and the service is enormous. Difficult to connect (more than not, 10 minutes, and on a recent flight, after 15 minutes I stopped trying), painfully slow connection speed (back in the day, dial up was faster) for just email and non video related browsing Most recent flight, I never connected as “cookies” were not enabled, which they were, and dispute rebooting my iPhone and then my iPad, no success The only reason this company continues in business, is they are a monopoly and have ya captive— if we had a choice of services, they would be out of business in a week And yes... I will try again on my next flight, and they will again take my money, but that is what a monopoly does

On a recent trip with my wife the App kept stalling on my phone (iPhone 6). I could never get it to work. My wife wasn’t using her phone (iPhone 7) so I asked if I could try it. Hers was a bit glitchy, but overall worked well enough.

Currently on an Alaska flight and have just enough connectivity to write this review. The bandwidth available after purchasing is archaic. In order to connect after purchase I had to power down my phone and reconnect and even then it takes minutes to just display an email. The app is required to stream movies but DO NOT pay for WiFi from this company.

I recently took a flight with two legs out and back. Making the app work on my IPad was an exercise in frustration on all of the flights. After watching the Alaska Airlines add 5-6 times, I used the chat feature. Support told me to clear my browse cache. I did that and it disconnected my chat session. Upon restarting Safari and the app it worked... sort of. Getting the movies to launch was still painful. I had to select the movie and click the watch button. The first several times it returned me to the select movie screen. Finally it allowed me to open in the actual GoGo app. Long flights. A couple movies played without issue. Of the other three two froze 15-20 minutes from the end. After waiting 5 minutes I tried restarting everything. No good. Started over with cleaning cache, selecting movie several time, watching commercial yet again, and the fast forwarding to end of movie. I finally got to see the end of the movies. It happened a second time with one of the movies. One of the other movies froze multiple times but started playing again. Free is free, I give this two stars because I got to watch some movies I had not seen before. But the application and implementation needs serious work. This application is a detriment to Alaska Airliners reputation, a company known for its good customer service.

On my flight to my destination I was able to connect. On my current flight I can't connect because it keeps telling me that my wifi isn’t on...which it is. This app is often an issue on flights. I hate when I have to fly on an airline that uses them. So I’m on a quest to try to get as many people To complain to their airlines for them to stop using your app and maybe you’ll improve it then.

Spend $6 for WiFi on Alaska to download ap to watch movies. Got the app which prompts me to open a browser to search movies. Then I select a movie and it tells me “ you must have Gogo app to watch” with a close button... I have the app and it doesn’t recognize it at all. System doesn’t work and now I have to write Alaska to get my $6 back. There must’ve a better way.. and if not opportunity is knocking for the competition.

This app is worthless. I purchased a one month pass in October 2019 because I had 5 business trips in October and was flying Alaska Air for each trip. I did not realize that the app is only available on a select few aircraft. Out of my 10 flights, the app was available on just 2. Yup, 2 out of 10 flights. The WiFi worked on the first flight for about an hour, but only after about 20 minutes of "live chat". Very frustrating. When it went down, I couldn't reconnect on my own and was also unable to connect to the live chat function. On my next flight, I couldn't connect, but was able to connect to the "live chat". That was when I learned that the app is only available on a select few aircraft. They need to do a much better job of telling people the app is not available on every flight. However, they are more interested in getting the $49.95 than in good service. On my one other flight on which the app was available, I was able to use WiFi for about 20 minutes. Despite spending 30 minutes on the live chat function, I was never able to reconnect. Then, to add insult to injury, I learned that the one month pass I purchased is actually a subscription! My credit card has been charged for November, December, and January. Still trying to get them to cancel the service. Very deceptive to call something a one month pass when it's actually a monthly pass. DO NOT BUY!

It’s clear from this app that Gogo does not care for its customers. Since they have no competition when it comes to inflight media, they feel as they can deliver cheap, subpar products to customers. I wasted my entire 2 hour flight simply because the the move “had expired”. I would avoid using this app at all costs as it is simply a piece of crap. As a developer myself, I could not see how anyone who built this garbage could be proud of their work.

I purchased a one day pass for $16 on a Delta flight and on the first leg of my flight, however, the WiFi on the plane was not working, so I couldn’t use it. On the second leg of my flight, the WiFi on the plane was working but no movies would load...there was an icon that kept spinning but it was so slow nothing would load. Finally I just stopped trying and played solitaire...requested a refund...absolutely no response. Complete waste of money.

We might fairly expect more glitches when operating an app and internet connection at 30,000 feet. However, that’s really not what’s going on here. An app/website is garbage if any of the following are true: (1) uses adobe flash in any way in 2019 (2) gives you instructions for Safari desktop on iPad (3) app is pointlessly divided between browser/in-app player because devs apparently didn’t know how to bring up a browser widget in app. All of these are true for the Delta/Gogo in flight entertainment. The third is icing on cake, where even if you have predownloaded the app on an iPad, it can bounce you to safari, then fail to open a link back to the gogo entertainment app, instead giving you erroneous instructions to install flash (ie 2 and 1).

I don’t need to say much about the app itself that hasn’t already been said. My concern is primarily how subtitles aren’t available for all the movies or tv series. I tried reaching out to customer service to understand why. They said it was due to a contract agreement that treated subtitles like a paid feature in order to be included. I suspect this person had no clue what he was talking about. Captioning or subtitles aren’t just some ‘additional’ feature that’s part of some payment structure, it’s an essential part of all movies and tv shows and all movies in the last decade have come with subtitles, so this was a deliberate act of excluding a built in feature that already existed. I challenge them to exclude the audio portion of the movie. Right. Same idea. It wouldn’t fly. (No pun intended) Why is it okay to discriminate? I don’t get it. Do the right thing. When you don’t include, you unconsciously exclude.

This app claims it helps streaming on mobile devices like iPhone and iPad as these devices no longer support Flash; which is a whole different subject. Instead, what really happens is you download the app, then when you open it, you get the message that you need to select a movie. It then sends you back Delta Studios via the browser and when you click on a movie and hit “watch” you are instructed to add Adobe Flash to your browser; which you cannot do on an iPad. Thus... no streaming. I tried this several times. Even uninstalling and reinstalling the app. All this thing does is send you in an endless loop from app to Delta (or whichever airline) which then tells you to install Flash. Incredibly frustrating and a massive waste of time. Airlines that wan to encourage streaming on mobile devises need to incorporate HTML5. The end.

I paid $16 for WiFi on my flight out of JFK, but it didn’t work even once the whole ~2 hours. Before someone says it must’ve just been that plane, the app would eventually open, only to tell me I couldn’t use it until we were in flight... when we were cruising at 40,000 feet. I just updated before my flight today, and I could not get it to play a movie in flight. It was able to thank me for downloading the app, and I could play a preview of the movie, but not the movie itself. It kept saying that the movie could only be watched inflight and that “You can access your video within 24 hours on another flight on the same airline as your initial rental.” Loading was also very laggy, as if it were downloading the whole app each time I used it.

It sounds like a good app, but you can’t use it. Maybe they should have thought about the fact that you can’t download it on the flight. With Delta airlines you have WiFi to text. And I don’t know if you can only use it on the plane? Because it won’t let me open it. Just because I’m not on the plane doesn’t mean I don’t want to watch free movies. This app could have been a good app if the people who made it had just thought things through.

U’m not quite sure what’s going on but it is telling me I need Adobe Flash Player. U’m hello iPad = no flash. So half the people on my flight can look at the titles but not watch the movies? Is this due to iOS identifying as MacOS?

The app doesn’t tie into the airplane’s PA system? ie you do not hear any instructions from the crew....lol everyone on the plane has headphones in trying to get movies to load instead of hearing any information from the flight deck. How did this app get approved?! But at least what I watch gets tracked and sold!

For those that are complaining about the Adobe Flash issue. A simple search on the App Support screen walks you through how to toggle off the “desktop” version of the website. The app simply doesn’t realize you are on a mobile device (apple wants you to experience desktop quality sites on an iPad). Once you turn that off, you’ll be good. I’d give 5 stars if the app had a 10sec rewind/fast forward button. It would also be nice to have a scrubber that showed what time you’re at in the movie. When I change flights, I remember that I’m 47 minutes into the movie, but it’s very difficult to guesstimate where I’m at when I’m trying to drag the status button to where I left off.

I was just on Alaska yesterday and checked the App Store before taking off and was able to update the app, and it worked. However, it still does not work on the iPad. Told me I needed to install Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash does not work on iPad/Safari. I checked to see if there was an iPadOS update and there is not.

This fails to work on iPad with iOS 13.1. The website thinks I’m on OS X so it keeps telling me to enable flash instead of invoking this app. So I had to pay out of pocket to borrow on of those inflight entertainment device to watch movies. Every platform deprecated flash because it’s so dangerous and here we are in October 2019 and gogo is asking everyone to install it. Even adobe who owns flash is discouraging everyone from installing it. Gogo needs a better software team.

The app has promise, but the connection renders the app useless. I could not even watch a 2 hour movie on a 5 hour flight because the connection was awful and my move had to buffer every few minutes, and that buffering took anywhere between two minutes to fifteen minutes at a time. You’re better off spending some money for actual service. Or better yet, spend the extra money on a flight that has movies on board. Avoid this.

Heres my experience in a semi-play-by-play foremat: Connect to the signal, get routed to another screen, prove your not a robot, create an account, get told your going to have to pay what I feel is an LOT of $ for something that should be a complimentary service inflight, enter your CC #. Try and log in, be told you need to download the app, go to download the app and be told your not connected to the internet, go back to the login screen and try to log in, it doesn't work, back all the way out and try again, log in, still not a robot, get access to the main menu, click on the show you want to watch and get notified this flight isn't offering in flight video, back put and try to log into google, facebook, says there is no internet... After literally 45 minutes of complete frustration and wasted time I give up and try and take a nap because my head hurts. When I land I get an email thanking me for my purchase and gives me a receipt. As far as Im concerned YOU OWE ME MY $$ BACK!! Plus a few more bucks for damages. DO NOT USE THIS APP!!!

Granted it’s essential to watch free films, but wow. Quite crappy. I own a third gen ipad. And use it to watch films on Alaska. You’re better off spending $9.99 to rent the digiplayer. I stopped travelling with my ipad because it’s pointless. The free movies are all crap old films. The only new films are on the digiplayer but they don’t tell you that part you’re just confused as to why you don’t have access to the same films since they advertise it that way. The app barely works. How hard can it be to make a good looking functional app? Hard apparently. This thing is super bare bones. It’s like roboticists made the app. These guys make cool robots but terrible interfaces. It feels like you’re using a windows 97 media player on a 333mhz computer that’s about to send you a blue screen of death for guess what doing its sole function “Play A Movie”

I have flown on several 5-6 hour Alaska Airlines flights over the last three months, which utilize this app, several of these flights with 2 kids and iPads. Only to have my kids in tears because the movie app either works for half the flight, works on one iPad and not the other, or doesn’t work at all. After the first flight when it didn’t work, I reached out to their customer service for help, and was told I needed to use their chat feature while in flight to trouble shoot, however, the chat feature has never worked while in flight. And once you land you can no longer try and chat because the app is no longer available. When you send them an email, with screen shots of your issues, their only reply is to use the inflight chat. When I wrote to them saying I did try that, but it wouldn’t work, they said “Chat is always available”, which is flat out BS because I even showed the flight attendant, and spoke with others around me having the same issues, and not one of us could use the inflight chat nor the movie features. So my advice is download it, if it works it works, but definitely don’t count on it as your main source of inflight entertainment because chances are, it won’t work for you.

I was dubious about downloading this app after reading the HORRIBLE reviews left recently. They all had 1 thing in common, they were all on different airlines (Delta, American Airlines, etc.) No one had recently reviewed their experience with Alaska. I was able to download the app in the air on my IPhone 8 Plus using their FREE Wifi from Seattle to LAX. I was able to watch Oceans 8 with headphones and subtitles because I sometimes miss details when they have accents. It was an easy interface through the app and I could have accessed through Safari. It worked perfectly for me. Thank you, Alaska for going the extra mile and making it possible to have free entertainment on my flight. And to the app developers, I would drop an airline that does not back your play, man! That’s not helping you guys get anywhere. I am glad I took a chance and downloaded this app.

I recently took a flight with two legs out and back. Making the app work on my IPad was an exercise in frustration on all of the flights. After watching the Alaska Airlines add 5-6 times, I used the chat feature. Support told me to clear my browse cache. I did that and it disconnected my chat session. Upon restarting Safari and the app it worked... sort of. Getting the movies to launch was still painful. I had to select the movie and click the watch button. The first several times it returned me to the select movie screen. Finally it allowed me to open in the actual GoGo app. Long flights. A couple movies played without issue. Of the other three two froze 15-20 minutes from the end. After waiting 5 minutes I tried restarting everything. No good. Started over with cleaning cache, selecting movie several time, watching commercial yet again, and the fast forwarding to end of movie. I finally got to see the end of the movies. It happened a second time with one of the movies. One of the other movies froze multiple times but started playing again. Free is free, I give this two stars because I got to watch some movies I had not seen before. But the application and implementation needs serious work. This application is a detriment to Alaska Airliners reputation, a company known for its good customer service.

Difficult to make this app run on an iPhone (6s in this case). Unclear instructions on how to initiate (lag through browser doesn’t help) and it’s unclear when the airplane WiFi has actually connected. WiFi / app dropped out frequently. Once running app was smooth for a while. Was able to watch about an hour of a movie; longest uninterrupted stretch was about 40minutes. After about 1 hour of a 2 hour movie the app wouldn’t reconnect at all. Something of a movie watchers teaser because now I need to buy the movie to see the closing half... Unfortunately the situation (lack of reliability) created by the app seems to be designed to claw a few more $ out of your pocket by encouraging users to cave in and rent the airline movie player. Better off downloading movie content onto your device prior to the flight and avoid paying unnecessary movie player rental fees. Overall, don’t bother with this app until it is substantially improved.

I was trying to install the app for one of my family phones and it was completely impossible to make it work without a cell phone connection to receive a double verification even though I was approving in person. Somebody does not have common sense with these approvals. I had 3 hrs to try everything within my means and it was a 4hr flight frustration. The app works well but apple is not what it used to be!!

Initially disappointed because we didn’t have the movie screens in the back of the seats. After hearing the announcement before take-off, I looked in the back of the American Way and found instructions on how to access. I was disappointed again because I saw where you must download the app PRIOR to take-off. However, there is a workaround to use their WiFi for free, access a website and download the app. Best case scenario is still to download ahead of time though, since downloading in-flight cuts into your movie time. I was able to enjoy a currently pay-per-view box office hit on my home TV provider on my iPad. Great selection of movies.

I don’t need to say much about the app itself that hasn’t already been said. My concern is primarily how subtitles aren’t available for all the movies or tv series. I tried reaching out to customer service to understand why. They said it was due to a contract agreement that treated subtitles like a paid feature in order to be included. I suspect this person had no clue what he was talking about. Captioning or subtitles aren’t just some ‘additional’ feature that’s part of some payment structure, it’s an essential part of all movies and tv shows and all movies in the last decade have come with subtitles, so this was a deliberate act of excluding a built in feature that already existed. I challenge them to exclude the audio portion of the movie. Right. Same idea. It wouldn’t fly. (No pun intended) Why is it okay to discriminate? I don’t get it. Do the right thing. When you don’t include, you unconsciously exclude.

This app claims it helps streaming on mobile devices like iPhone and iPad as these devices no longer support Flash; which is a whole different subject. Instead, what really happens is you download the app, then when you open it, you get the message that you need to select a movie. It then sends you back Delta Studios via the browser and when you click on a movie and hit “watch” you are instructed to add Adobe Flash to your browser; which you cannot do on an iPad. Thus... no streaming. I tried this several times. Even uninstalling and reinstalling the app. All this thing does is send you in an endless loop from app to Delta (or whichever airline) which then tells you to install Flash. Incredibly frustrating and a massive waste of time. Airlines that wan to encourage streaming on mobile devises need to incorporate HTML5. The end.

I’ve used this App on 4 flights with Alaska Airlines.. The App has promise but I always feel like I’m the beta tester and each time something has gone wrong. (1) It’s hard to get it to start. (2) The good news is the first time I used it the main menu displays your entertainment choices in an orderly fashion. (3) But each time I’ve used the App two weird things happen: if you start a movie you can’t toggle out of it - if you attempt this the App freezes (if that happens you’re done - no more entertainment). The next time you log in you are directed to your “library” where your “stuck movie” is stored AND THERE IS NO WAY TO GET BACK TO THE MAIN MENU.. What this company needs to do is to hire a few programmers AND then hire a test group to Beta test it on their dime not my time...

I love Alaska/Virgin, flown frequently with them. 1 star is honest feedback because the App is broken more times than it works. In places with coverage (I.e continental U.S.) it’s fine. The problem is the inflight onboard movies. Since there are no built in head rest entertainment units, long flights over the ocean to Hawaii, mixed with broken apps is bad combination. I got it to work on my phone once, and my Ipad wouldn’t launch at all. It would tell me to be sure I have the app downloaded which I did and was sure it was updated as well on both devices. I tried all standard fixes, like getting on and off WiFi, powering off my devices, nothing. When the watch now button is pressed it either does nothing or reverts back to the yellow message to be sure to download the app. Frustrating.

After booking my Delta flight for Thanksgiving, I read about this app and despite the poor reviews decided to give it a try. So glad I did as it worked perfectly. As soon as the plane reached cruising altitude, I selected the free entertainment wifi, selected my movie and started watching. I was very impressed with the wide selection of movies for all ages and genre, the clarity, and ease. If you are undecided about using this free service, don't be, download it and make your flight more enjoyable. I also set up the app for my non-techie husband, and he had no problems.

I fly Alaska quite often and I never have any issues with this app. It may occasionally buffer. However, it is never for very long ... I have read some horrible reviews on this but I have used it for a couple years now and I always seems to do me right. While I don’t use internet while flying ... I thunk it is quite standard to charge for internet service ... movie selection is adequate for wasting a few hours in the sky and the texting IS free of charge so that is kewl. All in all ... I am satisfied with the app.

Anyone having issues just navigating the app is to blame. It’s very user friendly. I fly Alaska frequently and have never needed assistance to get set up and watch a show or movie. Once in awhile the connectivity will fail but it’s by no fault of the app. Usually only happens on a turbulent flight, but very infrequently. Love it, so grateful this airline gives you free movies and shows and messaging through multiple apps. Also, if you have T-Mobile, you get an hour of free WiFi when connecting through your phone.

I can’t speak for the people having poor connectivity on their flights, but those not understanding how to download or navigate it must be quite the smooth brained individuals. You connect to the WiFi, it redirects you to the homepage, you click on the in-fight entertainment, click your film, and then it provides a link to download from the App Store. Delta had a quick download and not a single issue, managed to get my movie up and running in 30 seconds.

Worse, when you do go to the app store, unless you have service 1,000 ft. In the air you cant get to the app store so then you literally still have to wait the rest of the freaking flight and then go download the app. LIKE WTH! This is literally a floofing waste of tome unless you cant live without WiFi and are always flying. So, if you're bored out of your mind, don't download this app🤦🏼‍♀️

This is a great app to entertain you on a long flight. It has lots of newer movies and it has a kids selection as well! It’s great for my 6 year old who gets bored on long flights. However, it only works for certain airlines. A lot of reviews have complained about this but you can look up on google, safari, etc. which airlines this app serves and you might find yours. Didn’t work at all, it might be due to the airline(starts with an A and ends with an A) I was flying in, because my other flights worked great, but this one did not. This flight had the nice seats and tv monitor were you can watch a movie or show, but oh wait! You need headphones, not Bluetooth headphones but you are able to buy some headphones with a jack from us $$. Sounds like a sneaky way to make some extra $$. Well good thing I downloaded the app before I lost service. That way I can watch it here on this app....oh by the way there is a chance it might not work due to the amount of passenger using the network......what....ummm...okay well awesome good to know.... Disappointing in flight entertainment application

I fly with most of the major carriers and my experience with the GoGo entertainment app is not good. I’ve re-installed the app at least 5 times (while in flight) to no avail. I continue to receive an error message. I have searched the FAQs on the error message and I have followed the guided instructions. Still not working. There are several reviews from other passengers who have shared in this (disappointing) experience. If I ever fly Alaskan again I will remember to “skip” the app and just download content directly to my iPad. ....which isn’t a bad idea because Alaska’s catalog was not that impressive, and this app is clunky and unreliable (and that’s being generous.)

If you have a long flight coming up, don’t rely on Alaska’s onboard WiFi and this app to keep you entertained. WiFi is easily overloaded and crawls, then drops halfway through the app install. The app would not install on my husband’s iPhone 6x despite at least 20 tries. It installed easily on my iPad Air and installed after about the 8th attempt on my iPhone X. Also, the user interface is really hard to use because it tries to load all movies/tv/everything all at once. Filtering is painful and clumsy. You are better off loading up your device with Netflix or Prime video downloads before you go.

The most tedious portion of this was downloading it after being in the air. Great idea by delta IMO. App worked great. Don’t understand the super aggressive DOWNLOAD BEFORE YOU FLY rant but yeah it would be more convenient if I had done that. Delta planes vary on amenities but I’d recommend just downloading it and updating before the next trip or now that I know about it I’m going to delete it and redone load the night prior. Good app and idea overall. Jim gaffigan was right when he said we have gotten too spoiled when it comes to travel.

I’m still waiting for my app to download and have doubts the streaming will be much. I have struggled with even getting to this point, as Alaska does a pretty bad job of letting you know how to navigate to this page and the “free WiFi” is actually not free unless you’re a t-mobile customer — making it near impossible to find the streaming services otherwise. That would have been helpful to know before booking the flight. Otherwise it’s ~$40, depending on the package you purchase. Even after you pay for it, there is barely any bandwidth. Fingers crossed this comment makes it across the WiFi threshold so other can be warned.

It’s amazing what some people will complain about. People are annoyed that they didn’t know about the app before the flight so give it one star? Really? This app is solid. It took about 5 minutes to download (I did spring for WiFi on the plane) and the movies stream perfectly. The quality is very good, and its nice to be able to see these on my iPad rather than the screen on the seat back.

Seated in an exit room with no screen so tried the Go Go app that Delta suggested for watching a movie. Downloaded the app and tried watching the first move. App says movie is not available try another. So try another. That ones not available. Ok, try another. That’ not available either. N9w mind you the second and third choices are of mine are movies that have been out for 3 and 6 years now so I don’t expect demand to be high at this time. So try another. You guessed it, movie not available. I think the app is just not available in any shape or form. Don’t waste your time with it at the moment.

This app combined with American Airlines weak streaming makes for an unstable and mostly nonfunctioning app. After downloading the app fresh for my outbound flight, it worked for one movie, but would not queue up a second one for my six hour flight. On the return, it never worked at all. It kept telling me to download the app even though I verified that I had the latest version already. Even after deleting and reinstalling the app it didn't function to load a movie. It did successfully stream one trailer for about three minutes. What a waste of my time. AA should be ashamed to have such a lousy application associated with them!

So I’ve used this app before and it had worked perfectly with no problems, but my last two flights didn’t want to work. I have to say that even though I couldn’t get the problem completely trouble shot, the tech support was very friendly and helpful as much as they possibly could be, so for that I say 4 stars and thank you :) after all user error is the number one error in technology!

Now you can just watch movies on their website, when you use the WiFi. Alaska airlines is amazing and awesome and I just wanna give a shout out to the flight attendants. The flight attendants work super hard to come to work everyday with a smile on their face. No other airline has flight attendants that nice. And when the travelers are grumpy and don’t have something they need, Alaska is there to help out nicely. So stop being mean and saying this app is trash you can find nicer words to explain your troubles. Seriously people I think you are way better then this don’t be so mean to the developers. Thanks!

I have used this app every flight for a couple years now and it’s fabulous! It just sits in the background and pops up when needed to watch a show or movie in the air. I recently forgot to download it from the cloud because it had been a while since my last flight, and I was able to download it from the air without paying for a wifi pass! Alaska and GoGo are a great pair!

I tried to use free entertainment on my flight and like always the movies say please try again or resource not found. Feeling lucky, I purchased full flight wifi for a 21 dollar scam. After a solid hour I realized I’d rather get dragged off of United Airlines than sit here and suffer with no TV. This company deserves a 0/5 for this absolutely horrible wifi. On top of that, I told my brother to see if it worked for him. Guess what happened? With no surprise, he was scammed. I realized halfway through my flight that I had just paid for nothing. Thank you Delta for continuously letting me down. You will not see me on your flight ever again.

I love this app I use it every time I go on a flight it has a great selection and tons of awesome new shows. I recommend it to everyone because if you have a long flight this app will be your best friend. I have only had a few errors using the app but none that would really frustrate me. Again this app is awesome and I recommend it!

I would give this app 5 stars IF IT HAD A SUBTITLES OPTION! They have a great selection of movies and tv shows and I was very excited to begin watching one of these. I pressed play and went to click on closed captioning, but come to find out they don’t have subtitles for any of their entertainment. I am truly devastated and quite upset that I wouldn’t be able to watch anything I was looking forward to because I cannot hear. Once this app includes functions for the deaf community I will give this 5 stars. As of now they’re only getting a 2 from me. Do better, Go-go entertainment! :(
Bad App

If the app work, it is good. Although Wi-Fi doesn’t kick in until plane is at altitude 10k feet or higher, which means a down time. Problem is that, most of the times, app stay stocked on what you were watching previously and doesn’t prompt browser to start for new shows or movies. So, I have to delete the app after each flight and download again. BTW, you can’t download it in flight, as you can’t access App Store. In that case you better have another plan for entertainment, especially on long flight. American, now that you don’t invest to add individual monitors on the seats, at least give a full access to Wi-Fi.

I happen to be on an Alaska Air flight this time (continental U.S.), but this app rarely works and the customer “service” is a joke. Gogo is usually just a waste of time and source of frustration, and I end up just reading a book instead. Some people have commented that anyone having trouble with it is just a case of user error or something, but on more than one occasion the flight attendants have tried to help and they can’t get it to work either and the live chat support likewise is a waste of time. If it’s user error, the real problem is poor usability design and engineering.

I’ve used this app on all airlines that accept it (AA, United, etc) with no issues. The fact that there is no WiFi until 10k feet with some airlines is an issue with the airline, not the Gogo app. Further, the instructions clearly give you the option of using the airlines app as the viewing mechanism. Nothing about the functionality of this app was a surprise after reading the instructions.

Downloaded the APP and paid for a full flight of WiFi so that I could watch movies on a 4 hour flight. Needless to say the only entertainment I had was trying to get the APP to work. I tried 12 different movies but only got the notice that my movie couldn’t be found try again later or try a different movie. I spent the entire flight trying different things from the APP’s help page but nothing worked. I had WiFi because I was able to read emails, surf the web and social media but no movies. What a joke, 1 star was to good but you can’t select no stars!
Terrible app and ridiculous requirement to watch on Delta

This app will not download over WiFi while plane is in the air, so you can only get the movies and shows if you download the app while on the ground, even though in the Delta magazine it says it should be able to download on the ground or in the air. There’s also a weird connection between the delta website and the app, it would be better if you just had it all in the app like United does. At a minimum, get a decent connection speed on Delta so we can actually download and watch the movies and shows, thanks.

Overall I like the interface and it’s a pretty strong replacement to classic headrest screens for movie viewing... HOWEVER (big however here). You can’t watch movies without the app. And you can’t download the app over the free WiFi. What genius made it a requirement to download this for viewing... when Delta only offers texting-enabled low-speed WiFi. Just another example of a good idea with terrible execution. I had to write this review after landing... when the download finished.

This app is amazing it has bad reviews so I didn’t know if I should download it but I was in the middle of flight and needed a movie you can download the app in the middle of the flight and watch just connect to there WiFi the only is it was a little hard to figure out but in like 5 minutes I did so I recommend this app very much

I used this on Alaska Airlines, and the app just isn’t worth it. Despite being supposedly able to work even when the plane doesn’t have internet, the app tried to run an ad before playing anything, and that ad couldn’t load because there was no internet! Infuriating... Additionally I tried a few movies but wasn’t able to find any with subtitles. The experience was awful and the video player, for whatever unknown reason, doesn’t use the iOS-native player and doesn’t have anything like seeking or skip forward/back, etc.
Gogo app problems

I have been connected to the WiFi for an hour now with the Gogo app and all and I still cannot get my movie or video to load. It just keeps saying the movie isn’t working or retrievable. I also think it is really stupid I have to pay for WiFi. Delta is big, they should be able to sustain their own WiFi without us suffering for it. I’m not if it just doesn’t work on my phone on what, but nothing works. I just wanted some music at least. This app is not user friendly.

Was unable to play any movies or TV shows (“your video is unavailable” error for each one) using an iPhone 6S on a 14 hour flight with no screen available to me. Needless to say, it made the flight feel a lot longer and was extremely disappointing. The installation and usage of the app worked fine while in flight, but since I couldn’t actually watch anything it doesn’t deserve more than a 1 star. Clearly the developers haven’t done enough testing. If you’re on an older version of the app that works, don’t update!

Everyone was saying this doesn’t work but I used it from Chicago to Atlanta at cruising altitude and the movies ran smoothly. They did not take any time to load and the picture quality was fine (780p) Tons of movies to choose from. Would definitely recommend on flights with no on board screen!
Good idea gone wrong

Smug passengers and stow it with their "download before boarding" rants. I am not a frequent flyer and I do not hang around people affiliated with airports. I buy the most cost effective flight and prey that the person next to me has no perfume or BO. The idea to have passengers use their personnel electronic devices for inflight media is novel. Unfortunately the requirement for an "app" is forgotten during the execution. Passengers who chose no to purchase inflight wifi must share a small bandwidth connection to download an app. Why the software engineers decided to designate a port of downloading this app is beyond me. I can only suspect that they engineer team did not want to invest the time and effort. Took an hour to obtain the app and it drained half my battery. I'll more then likely delete this app in a week and forget to pre-download it next time. Or I'll remember the frustration and chose to fly United Airlines.

I never, never take the time to review or critique apps but my god GoGo is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a company. I am trying to purchase WiFi and give them money and it never loads and always crashes! This is absolutely ridiculous and I swear I am about to start my own company to rival their monopoly on in flight WiFi. Figure your sh** out GoGo! I hate this app I hate this company. I bought WiFi and then it failed to kid and I wanted $20. I will be telling ALL of my friends and everyone I know to leave 1 Star review absolutely ridiculous!!!!

I’d say it took me maybe three minutes or so to connect to the internet and find a movie? To be fair I’m into technology but ANYONE should be able to figure this app out. Don’t trust most of these reviews, they can’t even figure out how to remove a movie when your done.
