Not ideal
by clb.tlr on 2020/10/25 21:58
Doesn’t pick up the key I’m playing half the time...expects you to learn at a weird pace that doesn’t really make sense. I expected more based on the price of admission.

Ok, so I wanted to learn the piano and I got this app that was NOT HELPING AT ALL. So I went back on the App Store and found this one, so I got it. This app has instructions, great courses, and has demonstrations and practice lessons. I would like to say either if you would like just to practice or if you want to learn, then this is a great app with lots of great options!!!!🤗😍😜👏🏾👍🏾

Trying it now but no video will play, just audio, for most things. Not sure how to fix it. Sometimes restarting the app will give video for a little bit but then it quits again.

Best Piano App
by Fabjnhbhbhubub on 2020/10/14 23:54
Ever since I was little I wanted to learn piano. When I turned 20 or so I took three years of lessons here and there but then I started my career and didn’t have time to really pursue. This app has me sitting behind my piano at least 2 hours a day! I get to learn all the classical songs I always dreamt of ! I get to pause the video and rewind what a teacher would show me as many times I can. I get to pick out short minuets and practice techniques. I mean this app is just amazing!! it’s making my dream is being able to play come true at the age of 33! I tried a bunch of apps out there, there is nothing like this. Thank you a thousand times!! S
Pretty great
by appendJared on 2020/10/14 01:47
Pretty great app to learn the basics. There’s a couple things that could be improved. I feel like there’s too much time in the expertise listening to the songs instead of playing. Also, the app sometimes miss hears the notes. This happens maybe 10% of the time. I’m using a Yamaha P-45 digital piano.

Bad non-subscription songs

You have to make a subscription to do everything good! There should be better songs for the people who don’t want to make a subscription.
A lot of clicking
by Charleeb25 on 2020/10/09 01:31
I think the lessons are great but please do something with the clicking. A message pops up quite often and it would be nice to just press a piano key to make it disappear or allow the message to just go away on its own. I find myself removing my fingers from position just to click on a message.
Why do I need premium?
by NickYGameR66 on 2020/10/06 16:30

Great tutor, a bit pricey
by Asherzap on 2020/10/03 07:26
This is a great app for teaching both piano and reading sheet music, however, i find it a bit pricey. Would be much better if it was a one time payment, $10 a month is too high

No downloadable music sheet
by curiousgeorge1234 on 2020/09/27 14:30
While the app is helpful with learning piano pieces, there is no accompanying music sheet. Would be great if that sheets are accessible as a feature with the subscription or at least have links to purchasable sheets. Saves a lot of frustration looking for sheets that matches the pieces on the app.
Requires a sound module
by cmfockler on 2020/09/16 11:39
This app will not play any sounds for the notes. If you use a midi controller without a sound module you will not hear anything when playing on this app. That should be stated clearly in the requirements. Edit: iPad users cannot use GarageBand for this because it shuts down after a few seconds of running in the background. Flowkey support suggested that I download the iGrand Piano application. I tried that and it seems to run just fine in the background.
Charged me IMMEDIATELY when signing up for the trial
by memetrasch on 2020/09/16 03:32
Got a developer response. Apparently that’s how their trial is SUPPOSED to work which makes it even grosser and shadier. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I selected the monthly plan as the renewal option after the 7-day trial period, and was immediately charged $20. That’s already super shady and then the song selection kind of sucked; which is even more insulting.
I need a bit of help with this
by Silent Iced on 2020/09/16 00:40

A far superior choice to SimplyPiano
by JupitersThunder on 2020/09/06 15:51
If you want to play a game with your piano then download SimplyPiano. If you want to learn piano however, then download Flowkey. The app does an excellent job of simultaneously developing musical skill and understanding of musical theory. The large library of songs from various genres is a plus as well, though if you are progressing through the courses there are plenty of songs integrated into the lessons to keep you occupied and develop your abilities if you are just getting into piano. The app forgoes many of the marketing decisions made by SimplyPiano that, for me, makes the app completely unpalatable. For example there are no irritating”mobile-game-esque” sound effects and forced accompaniments to every activity that not only make it difficult to hear what you are playing but also interfere with the apps ability to recognize if you are playing the notes correctly.(“We recommend that you plug headphones into your phone while learning the Piano.” Really??) Additionally, you are free to progress through the course at your own pace rather than being restricted to their progression model for some abstract goal of user retention. The gripes: The courses are not laid out in the order by which they should be completed by a novice pianist. Myself and many others have made the mistake of progressing through the intermediate course only to realize that the music reading and scales course should have been completed prior to that. This is detrimental for two reasons, because one now lacks the fundamental skills necessary to independently play at an intermediate level, but is also now too advanced for the basic lessons to be stimulating. The second, and the one area in which SimplyPiano is superior to Flowkey, is that you have to touch the screen far too much. In the former program, to start the lesson you can simply hit any key on the piano and it will progress past the dialog box. In Flowkey you frequently have to remove your positioned hands from the piano and manually progress though the dialog boxes to continue the lesson. This sounds like a minor issue but does get quite annoying. Overall, despite its flaws, Flowkey remains the far superior option if you are debating between the two.

New update messed up my audio detection. The app no longer detects any notes from my piano.
Needs more songs.

It’s easy to get into, but for a service that cost 10 dollars a month. There’s no where near enough songs to learn.
It would be a wonderful app if it could recognize Ds played on a Yamaha P125.
by What is wrong with the Ds? on 2020/08/29 21:37
I just bought a Yamaha P125 and am trying this app as an adult trying to get back to playing beginner/intermediate piano after not playing since college. The app is impressive except for the fact that when doing exercises it will not reliably recognize Ds played in any octave and freezes so that you can not progress unless you randomly keep doing it and hitting Ds as hard as possible to get them to register. I am using a USB-C to midi port cable to run this on an iPad Pro. I hoped I could use this, but if this keeps up I may have to cancel before the end of the free trial.
Key Recognition
by zzman9321 on 2020/08/28 00:36
Like many others have stated, your program does not recognize notes. What is even more frustrating is it varies if different chapters. So is it me? I don't think so. I watched your YouTube video and it seems like you care. However, this is an ongoing problem with multiple users. You have been around long enough to fix this problem. I use an ipad for learning and do not have the ability to hook up midi. If this is a known problem why not let people know this before you take their money. I'm only out a one month subscription but I will be contacting Apple to let them know you sell a software with a known problem and are using their App store to take our money. Please don't give me the corporate speak and ask me to contact you. The problem is simple, I have followed all of your recommendations and they do not work. Either fix the problem or post in BIG letters that this program does not work on the IPad. Hopefully enough people will see this review and not fall for your scam.

No sound from flowkey
by austininjuly on 2020/08/24 23:43
This app was exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately for some reason I can not hear anything from the app on my iPad speakers. The app is connected though because it recognizes the keys I’m playing on my midi keyboard in learning mode, and lets me know I’m hitting the correct notes. I can’t hear anything though, so obviously this isn’t going to work for me. Super bummed...

honest to god life affirming !!!!!
by Skiffs Jdjjsjd on 2020/08/24 02:30
i never leave reviews so i really mean this. i’m 23 and grew up playing piano and adoring it with a burning passion but had overall negative experiences in lessons because i played by ear and had a difficult time comprehending written music. i never progressed beyond a level 3 or whatever until i was 20-21, although i never went longer than a week without working in an hour at the piano even in the hardest times. the format of this app is EXACTLY what i needed to bridge the gap between my written music comprehension issues and my natural ear. the music selection is legit, and the instructional videos are ASMR if nothing else. it’s a little steep, but if you’re wanting to really throw yourself into learning piano and you’ve been at a standstill and are willing to throw some cash at it, i would absolutely recommend this app.
Frustrating when app misses notes on wait mode
by Le88755 on 2020/08/22 20:46
Our piano is professionally tuned and the app has trouble hearing the E key. I have to play it again and again for it to hear it, but it fully screws up the flow when you have to do that. If it worked perfectly, I would say its the best way to learn piano and I would switch to premium for sure.
Great teacher, but can be improved upon
by picard35 on 2020/08/20 02:59
This is probably the best teacher app. And I mean teacher because the wait mode feature will wait for you to play the note, which is great. Note detection is amazing, haven’t had a problem with it. I am about a month into it and I can play 2 songs that I enjoy a lot thanks to repeating the songs thanks to wait mode. There are however, issues and features missing. First off, I don’t know if my keyboard is not loud enough, but the app a lot of the times does not recognize the note right away when I place my iPad on my piano stand in front. The keyboard might be the problem tho as I do have downward facing speakers, and when you put the iPad on the seat it recognizes the notes fine. It just a little frustrating having to move the iPad and glance down every time you need to look at the sheet music. This is really the only thing that fustrates me a bit with the app experience, but everything else seems to work well. There are things that can be added, like a song request feature. Other apps have this feature where you can request songs if they aren’t in the list already. Flowkey is missing this feature. This would be good to ensure the future of people’s interest in the app as well as giving the community a say in things. If there were more songs then this would be the ultimate piano song learning app. However it’s not. It is the ultimate piano teacher app tho. The songs for the most part are very much safe songs. This makes it so you may outgrow the app and either turn to YouTube which has a plethora of tutorials and likely has many songs that you enjoy, and even variations on these songs. You may even turn to a different app to find a little more variety. I think it would be a great idea for you to add a feature that allows the community to request a song that they like.
Although canceled during free trial I was charged for a full year
by applemaya on 2020/08/20 01:45
Beware! They’ll charge you for a full year even if you cancel during the free trial. Not just a month but a full year! Unbelievable and the worst - apple doesn’t care and let them do it. The app itself wasn’t good. Couldn’t skip and fast forward and decided to cancel. Thanks wasn’t even aware I still had access since decided not to use it after canceling. Was astonished to find it still on my subscription. Mostly disappointed from Apple allowing this and not providing support.

They don’t make it clear that if you don’t remember to cancel your free trial in time, they don’t just charge you one month, they take an entire year subscription out of your account, which for some reason ended up being $130, not $120.. so not worth it. by TeresaKN on 2020/08/06 21:26
I wish I could actually use this app the way it was intended but unless you have an electric piano or an amazingly, perfectly tuned acoustic piano, it’s not happening. For how expensive this app is, you’d think there would be an option to calibrate your piano to the notes in the app so it would recognize you’re playing the right note. I can’t play a single song or take a single lesson because it says I’m playing the wrong note! How frustrating, it seems my search for a piano app continues.

Best songs and how to use
by Emeraldly on 2020/07/27 19:54
The songs you make are wonderful. Plus, You added some of my favorite songs. I like Perfect: By Ed Sheeran ✅ You have a category of music. No need for headphones. All kinds of fun songs. All the difficulties you need called Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Pro. Here are all about the difficulties, Beginner: Notes are easy. Few chords. More broken chords. Short but not too long. All people who downloaded this app try beginner songs first. If you’re lucky, you can try Advanced or Pro. Practice the right amount of songs in that difficulty. If you already are a advanced or pro, you can try these songs. You can use this on I Phones and I Pads. Plus trying beginner songs is recommended for people who first play piano. But before you start beginner, try all beginner courses. You can use this on pianos. But how? 1. Turn your I Pad on by pressing the home button or the (Standby/On) switch. Otherwise, I Pad will switch off. When I Pad is on repress the home button. Enter your password correctly. Or after you have got it wrong 6 times you will have to wait for one minute. After you get it wrong once you’ll have to wait longer to try flowkey. After you got your password right, download the flowkey app. Press the search button then type in “Flowkey” After you see a bar that says Flowkey, press that bar. Press “Install” then use your Apple ID. Soon your app will be ready. Then press the OPEN bar. Soon press “Log in with email”. Soon type your email and password. The email we use is our uncle’s email and it looks familiar. Note: You can press the blue bar to also log in. After you log in. Enjoy your songs. Visit flowkey at www. flowkey. com. Too easy...
by 唔姆唔姆fgo! on 2020/07/26 01:04
When seeing advertisement, I thought I should be intermediate-advanced level. And then in the app, I realize that I’m not only a pro but an expert. Was trying to learn some more serious techniques like how to relax my wrists to play faster, but well... guess I’d better find a real teacher. Did not learn anything, feels more like a toy... Might be good for beginner, but I don’t think it can be replaced by human.
I’ll say few problems 🙃

I love this app. I did piano with a teacher at a music school but it wasn’t working because it was online. I starting in person then pandemic came. The first was kinda a review when I got this app but soon it won’t be. The thing is that they don’t teach u how to read the music or the notes. They were doing whole notes and half notes before u know it and that makes it not the best. I did piano and am pretty good but for beginners we need to change that. Other than that this app is amazing😁. I will use it tomorrow and the day after definitely. 😊
Thank you

by Andrew Hamm on 2020/07/20 19:23
I would give 5 stars but I had to buy a chord to connect my phone to my piano so the app would recognize the note even when my pianos volume is turned to minimum. Other than that it shows you how to play and the strategies to play and when you are playing the song shows you which finger to use.
Dude why

Great alternative for self learner pianist wannabe
by c@ts74 on 2020/07/07 19:11
My son private piano lesson close down their physical location activities due to pandemic. In the meantime, we are trying to find alternative so he can continue learning and improve his piano skill. There are few products available for self learning but we pick flowkey. The software feature collection of songs from different genres and levels, various self learning tools such as wait mode, speed adjustment, rollback/repetition, and live recording action of the actual person playing on the piano. He was able to master 2 songs so far at the pro level within less than 2 months and his level at private lesson was just the beginner. All it takes is steady and persistent learning. His side reading skills definitely improved vastly. This software isn't perfect. Wait mode sometime skipped and there was no way to print out the sheet perhaps due to copyright issue. Price wise seems to be expensive @$120 yearly but if you think of how much you're paying for private tutor, this is actually cheap. I dare you to try.
Great app BUT...
by alecjstory on 2020/07/04 15:58
Got a three month subscription with my piano. Using piano marvel to tackle some classical pieces, but this has a nice feature of showing the hand placement if I get stuck. I don’t want to rely on watching hand placement or I’ll never get good at sight reading, but the looping, separate hands and different speeds are great. They also have a wide variety of pieces of a range of difficulty. Biggest note on this app is there is a huge piece of unused black space above the hand position video. Would be nice to be able to slide hand position video and sheet music up to reveal more sheet music and remove unused black space. Seems like an obvious issue to improve. I end up having piano marvel and this app open and switch back and forth. Maybe wouldn’t do that if the empty black space issue was resolved and more sheet music took up more real estate on the iPad screen.
Buy With Caution
by Foster8990 on 2020/07/03 22:38
The issues I have with this app 1. ‘Wait’ mode is not accurate and 9 times out of 10 if I was using it to learn a song the app would not recognize the correct note that I pressed and would not proceed or sometimes I’d hit the wrong key and it would proceed. (This was the main reason I got the app) 2. I find the layout to be a bit messy. It’s hard to progress far into a song because you need to constantly keep trying to adjust the system to go back to the spot you keep having issues with. 3. I’m a beginning pianist and have only played the guitar in the past. I wish the layout of the sheet music was similar to Ultimate Guitars style of follow the notes. (You can zoom in and out and easily find the spot you had issues with the last time you played unlike with this app)

I love Flowkey. During the corona lockdown I wanted to learn to play the piano, but I was looking for something that I could use my upright piano with. Not a keyboard. Flowkey seemed to have the best option for that.I downloaded the app on my iPad, and have been practicing a couple times per week. I like the microphone function the best, especially when learning a new song.
Difficult to use without calibration
by Jozi131 on 2020/06/20 08:55
I like the idea of this app, but am finding it difficult to use as it has no calibration. Despite having a piano tuned relatively recently, I have to play everything a half tone up for the app to recognize it properly, which is obviously a problem. Also, on a slow internet connection, I just get the sound and not the video, so it’s use for me is limited.
Nice app for learning piano

The tablature moves to slowly but the lessons are easy!
It is very good but you might need a bit of experience and is free for the courses.

I got this app and so far it has been stellar, you might need a bit of experience but the courses are free and some music like Perfect
My first review ever... and it’s bad
by sunnyinc on 2020/06/18 18:52
You have to pay money and I’m not saying that is the problem but you also have pay premium for the lessons and a lot of the songs that aren’t even complete and I don’t think thats fair. Its not just on the piano that it recognizes but it also has voice recognition and skips a few notes because there is noise in the background and just recognizes the notes but not how many beats there is. And when there is a rest, it ignores that. I still kinda like it but not as much as before. Plus, it does not teach the notes and I learned more from my piano classes
Great App But...
by Z-Han0608 on 2020/06/18 16:30
The app is great!! I live the way it teaches; however, it won’t pick up when I play the note “D”
Not worth it
by RGHar on 2020/06/16 16:16
This is definitely not worth $120/year. I wasn’t paying attention and let the free period expire and paid for an annual subscription. Hats off to them though, getting those dollars. But anyway this app is pretty limited in terms of its song library. You’re better off doing it on YouTube for free. 👎
Money Trap

Did the free trial but didn’t give me an option to pick a new payment plan after. Ended up charging me $120 without me knowing. Wouldn’t recommend.
App stopped working after 3 days

I wanted to like this app but after 3 days it no longer works. Every time I open the app it says it can’t connect. Every thing else on my phone works except for this app. I won’t spend money on something that won’t even work.

I installed the app (tried twice) and when I open the app it says it can’t connect to the internet. Yes every app I’m using is accessing the internet. I tried looking at the settings app and Flowkey doesn’t even show up there.

Stay away from this app. I can't use it, can't logon on the web or app, can't cancel the subscription. I'm working with my bank to stop payment and dispute. Terrible.
Review for Flowkey
by Isabelle G. Fox on 2020/06/12 03:06
It’s a very simple app so far. 🥰 I love both the simplicity and also learning quite fast. Very positive app for warming up for any piece or wonderful way to learn to play correctly. I recommend this for beginners or those intermediates that need brush up.
Over rated.
by Ucfjoe1 on 2020/06/12 00:49
I really really wanted to like it. Listening mode is not good, it constantly misses notes or registered I played notes when I didn’t. I don’t like how the sheet music flows. I much rather have a full page of sheet music like simply piano or others. The selection of music is great but so disappointed with the app. I watched YouTube videos and did a lot of research
Best purchase in a long time

During quarantine, I’ve been looking for something to help me feel productive as the days run together. This is it! I love that they have so many songs and the lessons are really helpful. Anyone who is upset at the cost has never paid for in person piano lessons. Shy people should rejoice that we don’t have to meet a new person to start learning the piano.
I hate it

Good songs
by Albiiboys on 2020/06/09 14:54
Most of the songs are these classics that most people wouldn’t even wanna listen to. If you could add some more modern songs, that would be great! Thanks, Flowkey!

This is an excellent app for beginners and experts. It has a much more wide variety than other piano apps such as simply piano. I would applaud you on many things but one... my only problem with this app is I want more new song updates if you don’t mind. I would like more music in the Asian music section (Kpop) since the music there are from 2016 and older. Otherwise, I really enjoy this app keep up the good work :)

The app freezes frequently during the practice sessions when I am playing and does not pick up on the notes I have played so I have to play notes repeatedly. This causes a lot of frustration when learning the songs provided as well.
Could be much better
by Zagmongor on 2019/03/17 17:42
The wait mode functionality on this app is quite frustrating. This is the mode in which the song waits until you hit the right key before moving on. Without MIDI functionality on your keyboard you are stuck with it trying to recognize sounds through your phone mic. There is no keyboard calibration setup or anything to let the app know what sound corresponds to what key on your keyboard. So if your piano is slightly out of tune or if you have a cheap electronic keyboard like myself, it has a hard time picking up certain notes. This severely disrupts my flow during a song when I have to repeat a key until it finally recognizes, or it randomly skips notes sometimes. As a beginner i find the sections that are hardest to learn are the ones were I have to repeat notes because it cannot properly recognize them. Also if I search a song that I would like to play, i can’t add it to “my songs” to save it for later. It appears that you can only save songs to your list if you so happen to come across it going through the songs tab and clicking through categories and scrolling forever trying to find the song you want to save. Very inconvenient. Much to be desired after paying $100 for this app....
Love my csp-170 and flowkey nice addition.
by Fourteener29 on 2020/03/18 20:32
I bought a Yamaha CSP-170 one year ago. Started using flow key with free into offer. I have upgraded to premium last year after free intro and agin for another year. While the app is pretty expensive I have been using it every day. It does work very well with my piano and my playing has really improved over the past year. Now with virus stay at home, I will be using it even more. I suggest trying it and seeing how you like it then if you do upgrade to premium. Sometime I just like to play songs on my iPad and watch how they are played. It had enabled mr to play harder songs that I could have without the app. I love love the live wait mode aspect. I noticed some one else not liking it. It works very well on my Yamaha CSP-170 plugged in thru USB port. I my Yamaha per-125 on a camping trip in my motor home. That didn’t work as well because it is too old to plug in thru usb. Have to use microphone function to “hear” the mores I played. It will miss hear some notes and slow down my playing but plugged it works very well.
Learn at your own pace
by poemsnpaintings on 2018/08/31 17:44
I am an older adult (73 years old) and new to piano. I tried working with 2 different piano teachers. One taught me like one of her 6 year old learners, though I know she meant well. The other seemed like she was out to prove something and had no patience for mistakes. So I decided to try flowkey and learn on my own. It was the best decision I could have made. I went ahead and bought the lifetime membership and I am glad I did. I am now learning and playing music. There are tons of selections for every level, plus there are courses for learning scales, chords, and more. I wish there were more courses. If I could change something, it would be to have the ability to download an entire piece so that I could print it out and play it when I don’t have an internet connection. This would also allow me to look at the whole piece, and give me a better context for what I am learning. As it is right now you can only see a few measures at a time as the piece scrolls by. Still, I highly recommend this app.
Not what I expected.
by SterlingSky on 2017/11/20 02:44
I am an experienced pianist, so cannot comment on the teaching tools, but I am disappointed with the sheet music, as in there is none. My complaints: 1. You must play from the line that only shows a few bars at a time. 2. You cannot slow the speed of the flow - at least not that I can figure out. I’m a good sight reader, but It would be nice to be able to do that when first learning a new song. 3. You only see the key you are in at the start of the flow. I would like be able to glance at a key signature from time to time, especially in songs where it changes throughout. 4. I would like the option of downloading the sheet music so that I done have to deal with the flow line only. I would be fine with a small fee to download a digital file. 5. There seems to be a glitch in connecting to Bluetooth. My Roland has a blue tooth connection - this is the first time I’ve had trouble connecting. 6. It does not seem there are 1000+ songs. Where are they hiding? What I like — the partners arrangements and being able to hear and see their scores - albeit a few bars at a time. I will need to go to them to purchase the digital files and hopefully they are available from them. If you want to try it - pay for one month only to see if this is something for you. I paid for 3 months and unless I see some other benefits, that will be all I am in for.
I’m somewhere in the middle about this app
by Nina Christian on 2018/10/20 05:01
Personally I feel like I was miss-lead by the information that was available to me when I was searching for an app to learn to play piano! On one hand I love the interface, I love the fact that flow-key waits for you, and that it moves along as you play! On the other hand, I am almost through all of the courses, and I barely know anymore than I knew prior to paying for this app, their customer service was wonderful before my payment actually was deposited, Following my free trial, I think the concept of flowkey is wonderful, but are we really learning how to play? I don’t think so, we’re just mimicking two hands we see above us, at least that’s how I feel! I could go on anon but those are my two biggest gripes. Plus they mentioned that there’s thousands of songs, and I can barely find time that I enjoy And maybe two that I can actually make my way through playing, so I’m disappointed, not totally disappointed, but enough that I would not renew my membership! Hope this helps someone who might want to learn to play, And is confused on which app to go with!
Great app but I need more MIDI options
by ToeSnatcher on 2018/11/09 00:53
Overall I like Flowkey a lot more than other apps like Simply Piano. It has a better interface and better lessons in my opinion. I also love the fact that it has a MIDI interface since the keyboard I currently own is a MIDI only controller. The only problem with this is that the app doesn’t play back any audio of the notes I’m playing. I assume this is because most people using the app would be playing a normal keyboard or piano. But since my keyboard is just a controller, it doesn’t have any speakers on it so I can only hear the audio through whatever device I’m connected to. The options menu on this app is pretty limited, and as far as I can tell, there’s no way to change this. I realize that I’m probably in a minority situation, but since there doesn’t seem to be a work around for this yet, I’m stuck using Simply Piano if I want to hear what I’m playing. But since I still prefer everything else about this app, I’m hoping that this option will be added.
Useless without “premium”
by Meepow on 2018/06/26 01:49
I have been searching everywhere for an app or book that can teach me to play piano but I was not successfully. This app sounded like a good idea... I learned to play a simple song: ode to joy. When the app let me roam free around to pick another song, I soon figured out that as I had no subscription, I could only play 8 songs! When I opened up a “beginner “ song... I was shocked... the song I found listed under beginner was extremely difficult. As I was attempting to learn it, the app suggested that I take a course on learning the piano. I found many lessons... it was EXACTLY what I had been searching for... but APPARENTLY it was too good to be true... I tapped on the first lesson of how to read sheet music. I felt fine and relieved to take the first lesson... but when I finished it, the app told me I needed a “premium” plan... I was fuming! As realization struck me, I found out that the long winding list of lesson types with even more lessons within them required (once again !) a “premium plan” So to put it simply, the functionality of LEARNING how to actually USE the piano is not very possible on this app without a subscription of $20 a month!!!!!!!!!
Serves a purpose, there are work arounds for lack of sheet music
by Godchagk on 2017/12/16 20:06
I took lessons for years when I was a kid, never very good, but I still like to dabble on my own. The app helps me A LOT for this first couple hours learning a piece. It's much faster than me working on my own. However, after a certain point the app is no longer helpful. That's when i start needing the sheet music to work at my own speed and drill problem areas. The app just isn't good for that and I can't memorize pieces like this app is apparently expecting you to. Overall it serves a purpose up to a point but then you really need the sheet music. some songs arranged by their "partners" do have sheet music available on the partner's website. for the other songs I've resorted to taking screenshots of measures then piecing them together on my computer. not ideal but it works. the classical music obviously has sheet music you can find on other sources. for that reason i upgraded it to four stars. minus a star for expense.
Already the best, could be better.
by Nickname4567574765 on 2020/04/12 17:27
I LOVE this app. They have the best pop songs (very important to me) and they keep the app updated regularly. I tried many piano learning apps but this one was the best. The UI is great. I like being able to loop any section I want, scroll back and fourth, and use a midi keyboard if I want. I keep buying the yearly subscription and it is totally worth it. One improvement I would love to see is an option to remove or add the hands from/to the view (while learning a song) if you would like. I actually put a piece of paper over the hands part of the screen when I’m trying to learn how to read the sheet music, because my brain wants me to just peek at the hands because they’re easier to read. This option would help us learn how to read sheet music. Then we could add the hands back to the view whenever they were desired.
My savior
by mouse642 on 2019/03/18 02:11
Ok, I never write reviews... like ever, but this app deserves it. I am completely new to piano, never have taken a lesson in my life and while I have been trying, I couldn’t play with two hands to save my life, that is until I found this app. Even though I have only played through a little bit of the beginner songs, I CAN FINALLY PLAY WITH TWO HANDS!!!!! I have tried everything, besides a teacher because I like to learn by myself, and this app is the only thing so far that has helped me to play simultaneously with two hands, and actually play the piano well. It allows you to go at your own pace and slow songs down, and while it’s a little pricy, heck, I might even buy a subscription. So to all my newbies who also have no idea how to play and are loosing hope, this app helped me, and although you can only access a few songs before buying a subscription, I recommend it for the short time you can use it before it blocks off.
If you’re looking for “the app to learn piano” -Congrats! You just found it. Yeyyy
by bold.dreamer on 2019/05/15 01:23
(...and now feel free to go ahead and share some $$ to good hardworking people who made this beauty. They deserve it and I’m sure you gonna love it! 😉) Last year, for the reasons which I still don’t exactly know, I suddenly decided that I want to learn to play piano. Somehow I kidda figured that ”nothing difficult here and I don’t need a teacher”, so I went researching web. Few months later “the theory basics” were mostly covered, but next then next logically following question came up “Well, that’s all great, now I know it and what do I suppose to do with all of that now??” So the point I’m trying to make here is: If I wouldn’t accidentally found this app I’d probably still be “mastering to play scales” or just simply gave up on all of this “piano nonsense” and would have missed the whole FUN I’m having now.
honest to god life affirming !!!!!
by Skiffs Jdjjsjd on 2020/08/24 02:30
i never leave reviews so i really mean this. i’m 23 and grew up playing piano and adoring it with a burning passion but had overall negative experiences in lessons because i played by ear and had a difficult time comprehending written music. i never progressed beyond a level 3 or whatever until i was 20-21, although i never went longer than a week without working in an hour at the piano even in the hardest times. the format of this app is EXACTLY what i needed to bridge the gap between my written music comprehension issues and my natural ear. the music selection is legit, and the instructional videos are ASMR if nothing else. it’s a little steep, but if you’re wanting to really throw yourself into learning piano and you’ve been at a standstill and are willing to throw some cash at it, i would absolutely recommend this app.
Learn at your own pace, plus the fact that you can jump around to where you feel comfortable but...
by sophiebeanzee on 2020/02/05 20:27
I like the fact that you can learn at your own pace and that unlike with music lessons you have to practice a certain amount of time everyday and I didn’t like that idea so learning at your own pace works for me. The only problem is the note detection from playing on the piano and the iPad hearing it from the mic. It seems to glitch every once in a while when i play two notes at a time i have to play them a couple of times in a row to get it to hear me playing. And at one point today when I was playing I played two notes and then the screen didn’t move on to the next section and I tried closing out the app and it was still happening. And I know it isn’t my iPad that is the problem because I just got this back in December and it is the bran new 2019 version.
Love it!
by Miles-co on 2020/01/26 04:34
Love this freaking app! I’m kind of addicted to it. We got a Yamaha piano p-45 for Christmas for our family, and it came with three free months of flowkey. I’ve been doing courses and songs every day. What a great combo. I quit piano lessons after a year in fifth grade. Never made it to two hands, and flowkey had me playing with two hands in a few days. Thanks! Only feature I’d like is to have an option to see the entire song on the screen, and even print a pdf if copyrights allow. Sometimes it’s hard to remember which parts are coming up, and printout would solidify the song. But I do love the scrolling as a great learning method. Also buy a MIDI chord to recognize the notes spot on. The mic did good enough, but with the direct link I can play with headphones or a lot of noisy kids in the background and not miss a note.
A different way to learn the piano.
by Aidanster on 2018/12/09 14:33
I have playing piano off and on for over 30 years and Flowkey is the best and most inspiring teacher I've ever had. I've learned more new songs in the last 6 months than in all those other years. Exceptional piano playing meets intelligent app design. The song selection and piano styles have me playing and learning in ways I would never have with a single teacher. The ability to slow down and repeat any amount of a song is invaluable. As is learning the proper fingering with an unobstructed view of the pianist hands. It can also be a great tool for site reading. I can't say enough about the absolutely beautiful piano playing on this app. Pure unadulterated piano that can simply be listened to and enjoyed as some of the best piano renderings you can find. Bravo to the Flowkey pianist..
Excellent concept and works better than I expected
by BenPhaaam on 2018/03/23 16:59
This app is excellent for practicing music. It allows you to loop a section and the microphone pics up sound very well. There are times when it is a little buggy, but regardless I’ve seen a huge improvement in my playing. If you can sit down and play, it’s like having somewhere there to help you practice. There are some features that I wish were available, like the ability to toggle on and off which notes are supposed to be play next so that you can practice reading the notes yourself. I also wish there was the ability to add markers and save your progress. These are minor things though and overall I’m very happy with the way this app works.
Could be so much better
by Final Cut Guru on 2020/05/08 03:16
I love this app and hate it at the same time. What I love about it are the selection of songs and some of the basic learning tools. I also love being able to see the fingering as the song is played in the upper half of the UI. Here's what I hate: I hate the fact that you cannot ever see more than four measures at a time. (At least on my 10.5 iPad Pro). I also hate that if you pause to look at the notes, you get the overlay which makes the notes hard to see. I want to be able to see more measures or at least give me a page view of the music. The UI is also inconsistently presented. On some songs, there are fingering numbers, and on other songs they are not there at all. Also, there are only two speeds - super slow or super fast with nothing in between. This app has HUGE potential, but because of its shortcomings, I most likely will not re-up my subscription.
Variety
by Gildae on 2018/11/04 15:51
I love this app, I really do. It’s easy to follow, I love the courses section and I am able to learn how to play different music rather quickly than if I was left to figure it out on my own. Seeing and hearing how the song is played definitely helps me a lot when I am trying to learn a piece of music. I am enjoying learning how to play old school classical music. My one complaint, which for me is rather huge, is that their library of available music isn’t big enough to be inclusive of different types of music people want to learn. For example I want to learn how to play The Old Rugged Cross, Hold Me Now by Red, Burn The Ships by for King and Country, and old school Christmas music including the hymnals because you can only play White Christmas so many times before you want to rip out your own hair. I will gladly give this app five stars when there is a rich selection of Contemporary Christian music, classical hymns, and hymnal Christmas music to choose from.
Bad Audio Recognition
by kentahallis on 2019/03/04 23:31
I purchased a 1 month membership for Flowkey, and at this point I don’t feel it was worth it due to the poor note recognition/clumsy software. I get false reads/misreads fairly regularly, so whether it be I’m jamming the correct key until it hears me and I can proceed with the song, or it proceeds through a part I’m playing incorrectly (or not at all), it’s always frustrating and I don’t feel like I’m getting much out of it. This is particularly prevalent in two-handed learning. I know it’s a software issue because Yousician, which does virtually the same thing, proceeds almost flawlessly every time under identical circumstances. This is probably because it has an actual calibration menu, unlike Flowkey—maybe Flowkey expects you to be playing on an actual piano, whereas I’m on a smaller electric keyboard. It’s too bad, as Flowkey does feel like the more formally instructive option, but I must say I’m disappointed.
Great for Beginners
by Smm-37 on 2018/12/07 17:32
Update I purchased 3 more months. It's holiday time and I can actually play many of the intermediate level songs. I am so pleased with my progress. Flowkey just added even more holiday music. I am so thrilled by the choices of songs and levels. This app is great for practicing piano. I play at least 5 times a week. Original review I purchased this app for 3 months. I am 60 and never played piano. I am now at intermediate level and can play many pieces with both hands. The lessons are well planned and effective. The choice of music is very good with popular songs, classics, and classical. There are also many holiday songs to play. I enjoy practicing everyday by playing various songs I have identified as favorites. These songs are saved so I can find them easily. Flowkey allows for choosing the speed to play the song or using flow mode, a mode that waits for the correct note. I like learning songs in that mode. It allows me to develop proficiency before attempting to play in time. I would recommend this app to adults who would like to learn piano. It would be fine for young kids with support from a knowledgeable adult.
Excellent App and Customer Service

I have been a user of the flowkey app for the past four months and am very impressed. I am using the app for teaching myself how to play the piano and the integrated approach of listening, viewing and then playing is fantastic. The app shows me the proper fingering of the notes, along with the sheet music. Flowkey‘s ability to “hear” my playing is very cool. With respect to the Customer Service Team, they are incredibly quick in replying and extremely thorough. I had an issue with the app on two different iPads and reached out to them for a solution. They were very responsive and I give them the highest marks of excellence. Bravo flowkey!
Definitely get a MIDI cable
by freakyfelt on 2020/05/24 15:47
Just getting back into piano after a 20 year hiatus and this app has been a nice way to find a decent variety of songs to get back to it. Songs range from classical to pop to romantic and the same song usually comes in multiple levels, letting you get a taste for a song, master one level to feel accomplished, and then start practicing against the next level. The cloud syncing of your songs and preferences is great as you can change between devices and your songs follow you. The wait for me feature is awesome, especially when you have a section that is particularly tricky. As others have noted, the microphone note detection is sketchy, so do yourself a favour and get a MIDI cable if possible. Feedback to the developer: * I wish you would group the same song’s various levels together * there seems to be a huge gap between intermediate and advanced. See Happy Birthday as an example of the leap between the two. * the ability to add to/remove from favourites on all views of a song would be a huge boon * minor nit: the indicator between beginner and intermediate is really hard to differentiate if you’re colour blind
Love/Hate
by Dmdshelly on 2018/05/18 16:33
I have a love/hate relationship with this app. I love the interface. I hate, seriously hate, the music selection. For the beginner and intermediate levels, you are only given snippets of songs. Only the advanced and pro levels are given the full songs. I even emailed them about this and they gave me a ridiculous answer about how playing snippets of easy songs will enable you to play the full advanced version. Right. Further, there are beginner and intermediate snippets that have no advanced version. I really feel like this is bait and switch. Look at our great music selection - btw, you only get a few lines. Ranting aside, I do love the interface and keep coming back to it. I just have to ignore all the beginning and intermediate versions. Which works for me, but totally stinks for beginner and intermediate students.
Incredibly false-advertised.
by Blake Harris on 2017/10/23 19:04
Their subscription page says you will have access to 1000+ songs. In reality, there are actually 216. Note that the selection is decent for such a small slice of the music world, but there is no excuse for such Lies. I wanted to like this app, but many of the songs are only portions of said songs, which differ in quality. If you are going to spend 20$ a month, or more outrageously, 300$ for a lifetime subscription, you ought to get a real tutor. Unless the price drops to adjust to the song quantity and quality, you will do better elsewhere. Edit: raised stars because developer responses are great forms of customer service. I will look into the matter and contact your team. This has been greatly appreciated. Will be in contact soon.
Not what I had hoped for
by colleen0523 on 2019/02/04 23:30
So let me begin by saying I have been taking piano lesson from a teacher for 3yrs and this app is not something I would consider dumping my teacher for. The scrolling songs are interesting but to difficult to keep up with to learn the songs. If you are new to piano you will probably not catch on. I can read notes and play piano pretty well and I had trouble. The catch for me was they don’t allow you to download the songs and print them out. You have to go to another website and pay 6 dollars per song more if you want an actual copy of the song. A hard copy of the songs is important for learning the song so you can go at your own speed and not the speed the site sets for you. Even at a 50% speed can be to fast for a beginner. This is not a site I will continue to use. I will look elsewhere.
Terrible Midi Function
by anaischants on 2020/05/04 21:47
Really excited about the app but the midi function is awful on the iPad as there is no option for midi sound like on a Mac. It was recognizing my playing through my speaker until all of a sudden it didn’t want to recognize my A note. I switched different sounds and it was all the same. Then I wanted to try the midi function. Works perfectly fine when I use GarageBand and sound comes out great so I know it’s not on my end but when I try and get sound out of flowkey nothing comes out. I read online that you midi controller requires an audio out but that’s kind of ridiculous since many midi controllers don’t have that option (I own 4 from various companies and price points) Please fix this or I may need to switch apps.
Cannot recommend it enough, just brilliant
by Snehaljshah on 2018/10/14 13:24
This app has no words. Amazing songs, support is amazing, easy to understand and also brilliant courses make this app shine. I have personally tried some other apps as well, but couldn't find one that met all of this. It is true that you do need Premium for the real fun, but even without premium, you could still try out a few songs. There are a few apps where you finish one couse, and then you HAVE to get the premium plan, else the app's useless. This meets everything I wanted in learning piano. It helped me learn a whole song that nearly all my friends love. This app is all you need with practice.
Amazing IF YOU USE iPad to USB/keyboard adapter
by Dgdg87 on 2020/05/20 16:14
It is really important that you buy a keyboard and all necessary adapters to hook up directly to your iPad. The listening for the proper note is a great idea and allows anyone to try the app, but if your serious and want to get the most out of the app you have to plug your iPad into your keyboard. Trust me. The listening mode just gets frustrating. This app and it’s courses are amazing! You can tell the developers put a lot into this. Keep it up guys! I would love to see more courses. The operational control given in learning individual songs is such good work.
Updated Review
by coolpapap on 2019/08/26 16:13
It’s disappointing that you can’t use both the streaming lights and the wait mode at the same time on a song on the Yamaha CSP-150. That would have made this app amazing. Instead, it was disappointing. I have to keep using the Yamaha Smart Pianist app until then. Update...I got it to work now. Works with streaming lights and wait mode at same time only if the piano is not accessing the microphone. Great email tech support. The only thing that would help make this a 5 star app is if I could play the background music while playing the piano like with the Yamaha smart pianist app. The only issue with the smart pianist app, and why I’m looking at this app, is that the smart pianist app only has 50 pop songs.
Ok, been working with it about two weeks now
by Isabcomment on 2019/09/23 16:39
It does a lot but doesn’t really do what I want and need. First of all, it only works with an internet connection so if you expect to take this to a studio somewhere and use it off line, you will be disappointed. Secondly, the courses are good, but uneven with no directed progression. There is no way to gauge your current skill level and start from there. Third, I wish there was an option to show the whole score of a piece. You either practice it their way or not at all. The keyboard showing the notes is fine, but it would be nice to have more suggested fingering notations on the musical score. And an option to name the notes on the score, rather than having to divert your attention to the keyboard above the score. Fourth. I am really only interested in classical. There should be significantly more easy to intermediate pieces in the program. Most of this stuff is public domain, so why not? I wanted to make a commitment so I bought a years worth. Now I am regretting it. I didn't spend enough time during the Trail period figuring out that it wasn’t really for me.
Review .1
by Reviews not mix on 2018/09/03 22:27
Flowkey honestly is okay. But would probably be better if you get premium which is also quite expensive. Without it the free songs don’t switch often enough, and when they do switch you don’t get to keep the other ones. Not only that it can mistake lower notes as higher notes or higher notes as lower notes. But also if you play too fast it remains at its slow rate and doesn’t follow what you are playing. So when you are learning a fast song it makes it more difficult even if the song is easy. Other than that if you just want to learn a single song than this app is for you! But other than that you either have to pay premium which even then I don’t think it’s worth it, Sorry.
Helpful but pricey
by victoriataylor40632 on 2018/06/22 18:46
I used another service to teach myself the basics so I haven’t tried the lessons. There is a pretty good song selection and there is a tool to help loop. However, it would be beneficial if the songs came with preset loops that you can follow along in a kind of lesson to master the song. This way was very helpful another program and would add value to flowkey. There is also an issue using this on my Mac because I am told I have to download another app to use my midi cord but then am told I can’t download it. Overall, good idea and selection but could use some more user friendly ways to navigate inside a song without having to continually change the loop to practice.
Can print the actual sheet music!:(
by xSupperkittyx on 2017/10/12 20:05
I always wanted to play this one song from this app. I finally decided to spend 19 dollars for a subscription just to get the sheet music for this one piece. I was very exited, then found out that it only TEACHES you how to play it and doesn’t give you the actual music to site read and only gives you one section at a time. To my knowledge there’s no way to actually obtain the sheet music to sight read in your own. I think this was not a smart choice, for i only want one song which is an arrangement and I can’t get to that piece anywhere else. Please make an option where you can download and print a song. I spent 19 dollars of a 25 dollar itunes gift card I just got from a friend. now almost all of it is wasted. If you are looking for sheet music from this app, please don’t waste all of that money and time.
All Flash, No Sizzle
by Buckeye_Tony on 2018/02/24 02:34
Wonderfully beautiful app with great learning tools. If you are just looking for easy songs to play that are recognizable an easy to learn then this might be a good choice. However, the value is just not there. You can find more amateurish versions online for free or similar professional lessons by others for much less. I was excited to see Billy Joel’s Piano Man as an option, but when I started the lesson I found the version here to be way too rudimentary to be labeled an “expert” lesson. They didn’t even include the intro! What they did include was nothing like any version ever played by Mr. Joel. Anyway, if you don’t really care what version you learn and have tons of cash lying around then by all means, sign up! But if you want more authentic content and consider yourself frugal, please look elsewhere!!
Very Faulty Wait Mode
by Gfcfh on 2019/06/01 15:41
While the actual material in this app is great, there are a lot of problems with the wait mode that make learning with this app incredibly more difficult. A lot of the time even the slightest noise in the background, or sometimes even in complete silence, the lesson will just skip notes I was supposed to play while trying to figure it out. It’s also incredibly frustrating to play the exact thing it is asking me to play, and it not budge until I press the key like 4 times. Sometimes nothing will happen until I play the note in a lower octave. Great idea and the resources are there but the execution of the app leaves much to be desired especially considering I payed for 6 months of this app.
Frustrating
by StephCon05 on 2020/04/22 16:08
Flowkey needs to work in the technical functionality of the app before charging so much. The selection of songs is alright and the idea of the app is great, but it barely works. There are so many features that don’t work on an iPhone, apps are not available for certain tablets, and the browser version only works in certain versions of certain browsers. I’ve had to have multiple conversations with flowkey customer service to figure out a solution that only kind of works. The wait mode on the app was interesting, but it cannot hear certain notes and you have to play them over and over. Every time I use it, I feel more frustrated rather than having fun or learning something. I wasted my money on this app.
Phenomenal app
by emma2659 on 2018/08/30 01:56
I’ve only been playing the piano a year. Before using this app it took me months to learn a new song. With this app you will learn songs in a third of the time! Or maybe even less!!! The price is incredibly reasonable given that private instruction can cost up to $60 an hour. I’ve discovered beautiful classical songs on here to play that I would have never encountered before. Whether you want to play an easy pop tune or master an advanced Chopin piece, Flowkey has something for everyone at every level. Flowkey is an essential for all piano students!
Idk of it’s my phone or the app
by Cooooooool meeeeeeee on 2018/07/24 21:23
When I play, the app doesn’t pick up most of my notes. So while i’m playing it won’t record my progress. It makes it almost impossible to know the song when part way through it stops showing me the music and focuses on one note. I think it’s a problem with my phones mic, but i’m not 100% sure. I have to put the volume on my keyboard really high, and then there is a 50-50 chance of the notes not being heard. I only just downloaded it, but hopefully I can just load up normal sheet music and not use the mic. But over all it’s a pretty good app, I think my phone is just messed up :P.
Nice App
by DF60532 on 2017/10/11 21:50
************************ EDIT: At first I couldn’t get the app to work because I had the wrong type of cord. Make SURE you’re using a midi cord if you are plugging directly into you keyboard or piano. ************************** I’m using an older keyboard from Yamaha, but the note detection software just was that great. I’ve tried adjusting the tuning on my keyboard with another app, but it’s just not working for me. (I think my keyboard is too old to work with newer software, I can’t get it to connect when I try to hardwire it either) It’s so frustrating trying to learn how to play when you have to hit keys to and three times for the app to keep flowing. Somehow I want to see if it’ll work with another keyboard or piano if I take my iPad somewhere else. I’ll update my review after that. ************************** EDIT: Works wonderfully now with my iPad. I have the correct midi cord and all is well. Fun App. I will probably renew for a longer subscription next time. Nice work!
Enjoy it but glitches with my chosen device
by Kestina on 2020/05/06 12:49
I really enjoy this program including the pace of the lessons and the song choice. What makes it almost unfit for purpose is that it doesn’t recognize the sound of playing certain notes on the wait mode. So I will be in the flow of a song and get to a g or an a, especially in the lower registers and it will just get stuck and I will have to either sing the note or take my hands off the keys to manual progress past the stuck note. I have tried a lot of things, but something just isn’t jiving with my iPad and the programs registering certain notes.
Best in update and chat system
by Ali kashfi on 2019/12/29 21:18
I purchased flowkey 8 months ago. Actually I bought a new Yamaha U1 piano after purchasing flowkey one year version. I took the lessons step by step and some times asked question in chat section and the answered me under 24 hours. Now after 8 months I can play Advanced songs. In first days I couldn't believe 8 months later I can play thin kind of difficult songs. In my period of learning (this 8 months I mean), Flowkey made over 4 hundreds songs in 4 levels. Unquestionably best App I have ever experienced in Piano learning.
Wonderful!
by Slim1437 on 2018/12/07 02:42
I’ve been taking piano lessons for five years and I want to start playing songs for fun. This app has allowed me to play Perfect. So far I’m still learning it, but I like it a lot. It would be nice if there were an option to slow down the music as it’s passing. And perhaps if I could select to look at just the sheet music and not the pianist. Otherwise, this is awesome! I have no complaints. Now I just wish I had a way to pay for premium! 😅 Thank you for this app. I have a feeling that piano is going to be much more enjoyable. -Pianist
Great app to invest in
by Nate Fish137 on 2020/05/09 19:05
I’ve been using flowkey for about a month to learn the piano and am happy with the product. Their introductory courses taught me most of what I know on piano now. It would be nice if flowkey could add a feature to hide the hands at the top of the screen while learning songs. I’m trying to learn to sight read and my eyes always wander to the hands playing piano instead of looking at the sheet music. It would also be great if they added more to their courses library, in specific more sight reading practice and more practice with cords. Despite these requests I’d still recommend to people that want to get into playing piano but don’t know where to start.
Great app, just a few issues
by NatitCisum on 2019/10/28 23:03
Overall, I love the app. It teaches you the basics and provides you with sheet music for $20 a month. Most lessons (depending on the teacher, and when I took lessons) cost around $60 per hour. It’ll also guide you through how to play each piece, which is amazing. The only downside for me was pretty much the microphone. Whenever I would play through a song, it would either have me play a note really loudly to move on (to the point where it hurt my fingers) or it would move on when I didn’t play anything. Other than that, truly incredible experience.
I’ll say few problems 🙃
by SummerVilla38 on 2020/07/23 00:44
I love this app. 😊
What the heck is wrong with this app
by funday fun game on 2019/11/29 15:46
I didn’t get the premium but I can’t do anything none of the songs are unlocked I can’t finish the lesson or course and it’s super annoying it’s not fair just because I don’t play doesn’t mean I shouldn’t get to finish stuff and it doesn’t teach me half an ounce but almost all the songs have half an ounce doesn’t he teach me eighth notes about all the songs have eight notes it’s the worst one of all I can’t believe I got this game and everybody who gave 5 to 4 stars they got the premium and it’s not fair to you to spend $118 a year which turned into like 120 a year I mean a year for a bunch of lessons I take private lessons and it’s not that much I mean I don’t have that money for a year I can’t give away that much money a year I can’t

This app has instructions, great courses, and has demonstrations and practice lessons. I would like to say either if you would like just to practice or if you want to learn, then this is a great app with lots of great options!!!!🤗😍😜👏🏾👍🏾

by appendJared on 2020/10/14 01:47
Pretty great app to learn the basics. There’s a couple things that could be improved. I feel like there’s too much time in the expertise listening to the songs instead of playing. Also, the app sometimes miss hears the notes. This happens maybe 10% of the time. I’m using a Yamaha P-45 digital piano.

I was going to pay for this app, I loved the wait for me aspect, but I’m trying to play amazing grace and it will not work even with my piano in full volume. I’m playing the right keys. This is very frustrating.
I need a bit of help with this
by Silent Iced on 2020/09/16 00:40
So sometimes I am practicing a song in the courses and it will skip the first 3 keys sometimes it’s not that important but I find it annoying and also how do I turn the song practicing (by its self) into wait mode?
Wanted to play my whole life!

New update doesn’t detect my piano anymore
by More feature please. on 2020/09/01 14:33
New update messed up my audio detection. The app no longer detects any notes from my piano.
Needs more songs.
by Just_Jack94 on 2020/08/30 02:07
It’s easy to get into, but for a service that cost 10 dollars a month.

You can find teaching videos on YouTube that are just as good for free!!

Frustrating
by TeresaKN on 2020/08/06 21:26
I wish I could actually use this app the way it was intended but unless you have an electric piano or an amazingly, perfectly tuned acoustic piano, it’s not happening.

I’ll say few problems 🙃
by SummerVilla38 on 2020/07/23 00:44
I love this app.

Dude why
by awsomelot76_YT on 2020/07/20 19:00
You’re serious right? I was so exited to get this app just to find that you get 20 free and then you gotta pay to get the million more. Makes the people who don’t have enough money feel bad. Make more songs free plz and I’ll give five stars

This is definitely not worth $120/year. I wasn’t paying attention and let the free period expire and paid for an annual subscription. Hats off to them though, getting those dollars. But anyway this app is pretty limited in terms of its song library. You’re better off doing it on YouTube for free. 👎

Otherwise, I really enjoy this app keep up the good work :)

by MadsFowl on 2020/05/27 16:59
The app freezes frequently during the practice sessions when I am playing and does not pick up on the notes I have played so I have to play notes repeatedly. This causes a lot of frustration when learning the songs provided as well.
Variety
by Gildae on 2018/11/04 15:51
I love this app, I really do.
Excellent App and Customer Service
by Beareect on 2018/07/02 16:03
I have been a user of the flowkey app for the past four months and am very impressed.

Nice App

Wonderful!
