Not good for big assignments
by Draka717 on 2020/10/16 20:31
this app has been pretty helpful I will say, but if you have an assignment that is bigger that two pages it is nearly impossible to get what you need to get finished done. It would be really helpful if there was a scroll option for your pages. Also it would be really amazing if you could lock any edits you’ve made onto the document you are working on and still be able to move the document with the edits right were you put them on the document. These changes would be very appreciated, thank you.
Almost there
by molinowski on 2020/10/15 01:21
This is a great app. The only issue I have is that it crashes. A lot. It can be incredibly discouraging when uploading the videos to YouTube, or wherever, when you are 15 minutes into an upload and.....crasssshhhh
Unable to save video to my photo album
by a-candy on 2020/10/09 14:54
I can’t save videos to my photo album or upload them to YouTube. It gives a “mixing error”. Otherwise, this would be 5 stars easily.

Update 6.2.3
by PortareAF on 2020/09/25 20:53
I’ve used this app for years, and open and use it daily in my classroom. It has been a game changer for me and my students. However the latest update breaks functionality completely in iPad OS 14. You cannot open projects, or use the navigation tools. I’ve reached out to the developer on both twitter and their email service, they have yet to respond. Hopefully they patch this soon as the app is crippled useless till then. They appear aware of the issue given their lack of response to my complaints.
Amazing!

I love Explain Everything! This app is a lifesaver with teaching economics. I draw a lot of graphs and send it to my students. I’ve used this app for 4 years and it keeps getting better. Customer service is also top notch! Thank you Explain Everything!

Glitchy
by Jhatzis99 on 2020/09/07 20:11
I wanted to like this app. I watched all the online tutorials. Soooo many problems with this app. I am using on an IPad Pro 2020 - plenty of power to handle this app. For starters, the recording function was so wonky. The recording timeline scrubbers showed several seconds for one or two pen strokes on annotated slides. Second, the app freezes very often. I load it and tap the screen, and nothing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. It’s the same. Moving projects locally does not solve any problems. Third and this is so freaking annoying, when attempting to insert some Giphys or static images, you can’t search for an image. When I attempt to search, then the insert dialogue box disappears and I am back to the canvas. This happens every single time. I am uninstalling and reverting to using Microsoft’s whiteboard for now. Truly disappointing. BTW- I am using the latest version of iOS 13
Absolutely Awesome!

I’ve used Explain Everything for almost 5 years without any of the technical difficulties mentioned by other reviewers; not a single glitch, freeze, or lost project. As far as performance & features, I can’t complain; I teach high school advanced math, and I’ve constantly supplemented my teaching with lecture notes captured on my iPad along with what I call “pencasts” (think Kahn Academy videos). The interface operates flawlessly; I usually import images and screencasts from other math apps with no problem whatsoever. Now, in the world of full distance learning, EE has become even MORE valuable; the subscription version allows a simultaneous web board and the app shares easily with Google Meets and Zoom. No matter how your students need to see your screen (if you’re using EE as a live whiteboard), this app’s got you covered! As far as cost, I’m a firm believer that you get what you pay for, and EE delivers more than I imagined. One of the most precious features is its direct upload to Google Drive, DropBox, and others (I use GD & DB only). So thank you, and here’s looking to at least another 5 years!

I used to love Explain Everything but something has happened to it. When you import Powerpoint slides, you get extraneous characters. I locks up periodically (hope you saved your project)! There is no way, other than a cumbersome wrist-guard, to have it recognize only the Apple Pencil. I could go on and on. It looks like they have just quit adding features and are coasting on what they had in 2016. Too bad but it opens the door for other products to replace it. Time to look around.

Love this app but...
by kenndri12 on 2020/07/23 16:19
This app is extremely useful for creating engaging lessons and getting students to collaborate. Virtual learning is here and this is for sure the app that I would choose to conduct such a feat. However, one thing that I struggle with is that the app itself and the web version vary in a few ways. As a teacher that already has content created, I don’t want to recreate absolutely everything that I have already done. The app version lets you upload powerpoints into the project, but the web version does not. As of now, that is the only complaint that I have. Keep updating! 😁😁
It’s not so good
by oyudelmy on 2020/07/14 18:44
You have to pay and they only allow you to have 3 projects
Good but missing important features
by SChoudhary on 2020/07/11 18:45
I would rate this 3.5-4⭐️s. ➡️TL;DR: its a really good app with really decent functionality however as it is it really isn’t/can’t be the only app I use for my note/screen casting needs. (Sorry for a billion emojis- added for readability) As a student and tutor I use these for review and teaching. It’s been great for mind mapping and breaking down complex concepts as I move to grad level concepts. Despite the learning curve it’s been very functional for me but it is missing some features I’d love to see. ✅Pros: - customization - colors/papers/background - endless paper - good apple pencil functionality - great sharing/recording abilities - personal templates - good features for math adaptability - shape tool ❎Cons/Missing items (❗️To indicate importance): ❗️❗️❗️❗️- a way that zoom doesn’t change pen size. I just want to side scroll w/o effectively changing pen size, etc maybe add more pen sizes or custom sizes that don’t change despite zoom level. At this point I have to use stealth so I can note zoom % and maintain it after I scroll ❗️❗️❗️- better pen style selection tool for easier movement and grouping ❗️❗️❗️- hand gesture for easier undo (preferably double tapping) ❗️❗️ - auto straighten for lines (maybe after holding for a sec?) ruler is too time consumptive ❗️- recoloring drawn elements

Hey, I am that girl who HATES HAVING TO DO SCHOOL FROM HOME! My grandpa decided to tutor me and we thought it would be best to use this app! So we whipped it up. Three minutes after, we started having problems. For instance, whenever he was writing, it would either kick me out of the whiteboard or just freeze me for minutes until it started saying “processing.” This made it very hard to learn here! It would happen, like, every five seconds which made it impossible to write out my ideas. Could you guys try to make a new sort of update to fix that? So annoyed and am considering to delete the app.

Deletes your work if you close the cover of your iPad
by NathanReading on 2020/06/12 20:37
It happened twice. I’m trying out a lot of online whiteboards for mathematics research, collaboration, and teaching. Explain Everything has some nice features (like an infinite workspace), but also a lot of problems. The biggest problem in the interface is that you can’t easily select things and move/delete them. Instead, things are unaccountably “grouped” together with random other things (yes, even with the “auto-group” setting turned off). But the kicker was losing hours of work. The first time it happened, I didn’t lose much, and I thought I had done something wrong. The second time, I had worked for a long time on a calculation, and then closed the folio cover and moved to a different desk. When I opened it again, I was asked if I want to upgrade (still trying it out), and when I said “no”, I progressed to a screen where I could choose which project I wanted to open. But my project was blank. Apparently, I was supposed to have pressed a “save” button. For you younger kids: Back in the 80’s and 90’s, you used to have to ask your computer to save your work, because otherwise you would lose it the next time the computer or the program crashed, which was usually very soon. Those of us who lived through that don’t want to go back, and I’m very disappointed the Explain Everything is still living in those days. I’ve learned what I need to know from my free trial.

Learning Curve
by cequalspid on 2020/06/09 19:47
There is a bit of a learning curve but when you get there you find a very flexible app. They continue to develop it which is great. All in all, I’m on board. **But one major annoyance is that it will randomly select the Eraser even though I never selected it. Yes, this happens purely with the Apple Pencil and no part of my hand, or anything else touching my iPad Pro screen. It interrupts the workflow, especially if you’re recording a video lesson. Yes, the export to video takes too much time, hoping that improves. **As the developer pointed out, it is the double tap feature, thank you. Other thoughts: Picking a pencil color doesn’t change the color options for other tools. Being able to select a view that shows hidden objects without the need of the inspector tool which would be incredibly useful while recording. I’ve had to pause and figure out where I hid objects to be revealed during recording. If using a microphone, automatically have it record in stereo. I’ve had to import the video to GarageBand and convert the mono to stereo. Holding down an object doesn’t change it to Inspector view. Trying to move things around this happens and you have to go back to the selection tool. Overall, a wonderful app!
Lack of options

Could be better
by good/nope! on 2020/05/28 16:55
I have explain everything on another device, it works fine. However, you have to pay $7 for subscription to make videos, drawings, etc. I made a draft. One draft, and: a) it didn't save, b) it deleted it, c) the only way to save it is to screen shot it! It's stupid! You have to pay to $7 to save ONE thing. Save yourself by not buying this app.
So slow it is unusable
by Sithlord75 on 2020/05/17 18:43
I’ve had this app in various formats for three years. It has gotten so slow with exporting that it is unusable. I’ve used it on iPad, Android tablet, and Laptop, on multiple networks, and exporting a 15 minute video now takes several hours. That’s if it exports at all. Often it will freeze around 60-70% and fail to export. Waste of money and I will not be renewing my subscription.
NOT USER FRIENDLY.... PLUS NO Support
by HIGHLY disappointed teacher on 2020/05/16 22:52
While the program itself is okay, definitely could be easier to embed images and text, I finally came to terms with the hassle of creating a project. BUT of course exporting it is nearly impossible and when you try to get assistance don’t bet on actually speaking with anyone.... Nope you can email them and hear back at some point I hope!

Great app - lifesaver during distance learning
by Rlonline on 2020/05/13 22:37
This app has a great many bells and whistles that has really come in handy since I started using it a few weeks ago. It is easy to use and have used it several times to draw things out for my students while teaching them online. Having the recording feature is also great. Thank you!
Could be better
by AcousticKatgirl25 on 2020/05/13 16:06
I like that app but it needs to be fixed first off I had a project to do on Explain Everything and it took me hour but when I tried to turn it in it couldn’t be viewed. I tried to resubmit it only to find out that my hours of work wasn’t saved when I pressed save and it’s happened to a lot of my projects so I think it needs to be fixed on that part and could be better.
Fantastic app for distance learning!!
by HeathCamSn on 2020/05/12 02:19
I looooooove this app!!!! As an elementary school teacher, works for every subject I teach. A thousand times better than Screencastify, which is good, and a million times better than trying to record anything via a document camera or webcam. I can take photos of workbook pages and mark in them. I can point to word in a book and record myself reading to teach fluency. I can video myself building a rectangular prism from dice to teach cubic volume. It is so easy to edit, insert, delete, add photos from the internet, add sound clips of music...I could go I and on. Yes, it takes a bit of playing with to learn. But if I can do it, anyone can! When or if we get back to the classroom, I may choose this over my document camera to teach lessons. How cool would it be to record my math lesson while I teach it, quickly pause when there's a disruption (or easily edit it out), upload to the internets, and give my kids access again when they go homework? Big fan here. Good customer service too. If you are a teacher, give this a go!
Great app
by cawfietawk on 2020/05/11 11:09
This app is as game changer. I teach math and I’m able to teach my kids through visuals now. This app can make shapes and even has a protractor and a ruler so I can show them how to measure! Recording is easy. There’s even a edit function so that you can take a part out if you decide you don’t won’t a portion of your video. This is great so you don’t have to start your recording over again if you make a mistake. I recommend this app!
Horrible way to limit free version’s functionality
by abhi42 on 2020/05/01 08:25
I didn’t realize that the free version only supports the content in the red area. After working on a mind map for 3 hours, I saved it and closed the app. Next time I open the app I am horrified to see that all of my work except this one section is lost! Either make it payware or let the user know beforehand. This was a really good app except this.
Lots of Great Editing Features
by JackInBrooklyn on 2020/04/29 17:04
This app will take you some time to learn well, but it is time well spent. I use it to make explainer videos for my students.
Not what I thought
by petitepinkmama on 2020/04/29 11:42
After watching several YouTube videos, I thought that I would be paying $2.99 for the full app. I did not realize it was subscription based as other whiteboard apps. I was hoping for an app where I can save video lessons to my device and then share on any platform...without a subscription.

Nice idea, needs improvement
by Anonymous PhD student on 2020/03/25 15:28
I am a college professor who suddenly has to teach online, and thought that this app would be great for recording lectures. It has lots of nice features, but two very irritating ones: 1. I write onto handouts that I import, and too often, things I write do not group together and/or with the imported documents. That means that only some of the content will move when I try to scroll on my iPad screen. There appears to be no simple way to fix this, so I’m often forced to erase what I have already written in order to scroll down to the next part of my handout. 2. The videos take *way* too long to export from the iPad. Every time so far, it has taken longer than the actual length of the video. Also, it cannot export while running in the background. This means that in order to export a 50 minute lecture video, I cannot do anything else on my iPad for the next hour or more. One more smaller thing: it should be possible to resize an imported document while easily keeping it upright. Every time I rescale an imported PDF, I can’t help but to tilt it a bit. It’s not that hard to fix, but a bit annoying.
Definitely cool tool

App frozen 5 times during first day. Paid for the monthly subscription. Made videos easily. Sharing videos with students NOT easy. Will not post link to classroom. Cannot upload to YouTube. Broadcast option does not work. School is shut down for 4 weeks. Trying to create videos for remote learning. App is aggravating; making my job more stressful at the moment. Need to unsubscribe. Will NOT recommend to other teachers facing the remote teaching hurdles that do not have an IT department support.
What are you guys thinking?
by Alex Alexzander on 2020/02/28 21:42
First of all if I were a wealthy man I’d offer to buy the company. I like the idea and concept, but the company behind it leaves much to be desired. If I import an image of a sheet of paper, so that I can write on this virtual sheet of paper, then by default, every word I write should automatically group to the image of the paper. It practice this fails all the time and I have to constantly use the inspector to select the page, and all the text I have written on it and choose group from the inspector because the app is not to be trusted to perform this function automatically as it says it will in the default settings. My teacher cannot open my file. It is shared. She is added to it by email. Her email is verified as the email of the account she is using. It just doesn’t work. So, you’d want a little support. You have to fill out a form, select from a bunch of drop down menus about who you are, etc. And then wait. And wait. And wait. No chat. No number. They just make it difficult to get in touch with anyone. At $69 a year, the least you could do is provide support. and not email support that gets back to you when ever you feel like it. There is an upgrade button on the accounts page of the website. Try to use it. It doesn’t do anything. I had to kill my account here and create an account on their website to solve a problem. and now when I want to upgrade to give my teacher an account, I can’t. The fact that I have an individual account, means trying to upgrade to a team account won’t let me. Why? Because I have an active account. YES, that’s the nature of the word “UPGRADE”. The idea is you take your lessor account, and UPGRADE to a team account. Why do have an UPGRADE button if you’re not going to have to UPGRADE my account. Try to upgrade and it says you can’t, you have an individual account. So I cancel my individual account, and it says I can’t do anything because I have an active account. Lord only knows what happens to all my shared projects stored on their drive. Whomever is running this show doesn’t seem to know what they are doing, hence why if I were a wealthy man, I’d just buy them out and hire people that actually know what they are doing. @@ update: They got back to me quickly and are working through the issues. Kudos. Updated to four stars. Hopefully these things can be resolved quickly. Update again These guys are absolutely going above and beyond to resolve the issues raised. Can’t say thank you enough. Glad to be heard and glad things are moving in the right direction.
Perfect for the traveling teacher
by Jerjiggy on 2020/02/27 05:04
I am a wrestling coach and also a chemistry teacher. This time of the year is extremely busy for the wrestling team which means tons of traveling. This app not only allows me to provide lectures on the go but also assist with my students if they have problems. I love that I can also record lectures for absent students. I have tried boring PowerPoint presentation and even relied on the old school white board. This is the best of both worlds. My only complaint is that I wish I could use the app without the tools showing via chrome cast. Right now this feature is only available if I use the Apple TV. Other than that it is perfect!
So close!
by AlliesTheBest on 2020/02/23 13:27
I really want to use this in my classroom, but it’s missing one feature. When I’m presenting with it, and I put it in ‘ninja mode(?)’ so students can’t see when I zoom in, the pen size still scales.so the thickness of what I’m writing isn’t uniform and it looks AWFUL! I have collected a bunch of ways to use this (card sorts is my most recent thought) But until they make the ninja mode more usable, I can’t see myself using it in the classroom.

It’s okay
by wafflez_gxng on 2020/01/22 23:50
Honestly, I think it’s good, but I have a problem. I work on chrome books at school and I can’t figure out how to edit a text. I have to put things in later on, so it’s hard when I don’t know how. It’s probably user error, but it’s easier on my phone. But my phone is really small compared to the computer so it’s hard
Processing time slow
by jordanoo7 on 2020/01/05 18:41
I used to like the app a lot until 10 times waiting for it to “process” a 10 min video for 30 min only to fail the export each time. App needs work, frustrating!
This is a terrible app don’t waste your time
by SweenerBTW on 2019/12/13 01:45
This app doesn’t let you do much unless you want to pay 7$ a week for the premium version, which is needed if you want to save a video over a minute long, an extra slide, and some other things that don’t really matter. Also setting this app up took me a good 10 minutes on a busy homework night. So for school I had to do a video on sedimentary rocks using this app, but my video was 4 minutes 44 seconds so it won’t let me download it and send it to my teacher. So I go to trim it and their buttons make no sense so somehow my video gets deleted when I didn’t press the trash can button. Mainly don’t waste your time or money and if you’re a teacher please don’t use this app.

I would recommend it in a heartbeat if they had a reasonable pricing option, like a onetime payment much lower than their 60$ a year. There are way too many apps on the market with the same, if not better functionality, that are MUCH lower in price and that are based on a more reasonable ONE TIME PAYMENT plan. Again, app is great, but something like Goodnotes gives you the same if not better functionality for a one time payment of 10$. You decide whats best for you.

Great idea... not a good app.
by HunnerC6 on 2019/10/25 20:45
I was tasked with using this app for a class project where I would make a video of me explaining tips of another app. I whipped out Explain everything and I realized right away this would be a difficult project. Not because of the task given to me, but because of the app I had to use. While it’s a great idea, Explain Everything is not what I was hoping for. It was slow, and it had very basic features. I had to record audio for the slides and it was almost guaranteed that it would cut off either the beginning of what I was saying or the end. Sometimes both. It also doesn’t seem to allow you to move audio around if I wanted to add something, or to try to fix what it had cut off. I am also disappointed that there is no way for me to watch the whole project at once instead of clicking on each individual clip and clicking play. This app did not live up to my expectations and I was really hoping to add this app to my list of daily project creation apps. As of today, though, it will not be used further. I am open to retry it in the future. As I said, it’s a great idea. The app just isn’t ready yet.

Often doesn’t save projects.
by Milipida on 2019/10/14 18:56
The biggest problem with this app is that sometimes it doesn't save the projects. Imagine, I work on a project, spend 3-4 hours on it and forget to save- and in general it is necessary because it saves automatically. Next day- no project. I called for support and they didn’t help at all, just gave me general information. Sometimes information disappears even when you log out for a minute....

Use Google Jamboard Instead. It’s free
by Miss.Jenn.86 on 2019/09/27 21:06
This app is not intuitive and was such a pain when I was trying to do math collaboratively. The writing changes thickness when you zoom in or out, which is really annoying. Sometimes the eraser erases, sometimes not. Despite all that, this app is expensive!!! If you are trying to do work in real time, like tutor someone not close to you in math, don’t use this app. Just use Google Jamboard. It updates in real time, has a web application, and is free.

Subscription scam
by OLaoshi on 2019/09/17 20:19
I downloaded this app for my iPhone to test it, didn’t register for an account, and the app told me that I have a free account which allows me to do 3 projects. It asked me whether I want to be on a free trial for the full version and I clicked no. Then I saw a $69.99 credit card charge from iTunes and was very confused. Only after carefully searching did I discover that Explain Everything has charged me the annual subscription fee!! What’s even more crazy was that even after I got charge I still couldn’t use the full function - it wasn’t until that I registered with an email that it showed me as a full subscriber. This whole thing is not set up right and very confusing. And if you are going to force people into a full subscription without their consent you should just charge for your app instead of having a fake in app purchase. I am very displeased.
Disappointed
by Rattle Brain on 2019/09/14 09:08
I love the app even though it has a pretty steep learning curve. I could not practice or even use the app because it keeps telling me my subscription has expired. Funny thing they auto billed it for the past two years. I tried contacting them and all I got was an auto email saying my subscription had expired. However my online account says I’m current with three years worth of invoices. I think they are a bunch of crooks.
Love but the font-size button
by Student from Kazakhstan on 2019/07/21 08:38
Thank you guys, it’s a great app! Just downloaded it and feel pretty happy! One thing could be improved: the font-size changing +/- buttons(web-version), it’s not fun to click it many times, can it be more responsive when you hold it like the Zoom +/- buttons? Thanks.
Great potential but slow learning curve
by Math-wizard on 2019/07/11 12:46
I’ve been a licensed user for 2 years, and the “go to” app user on my campus. Love being able to create videos for my students to move self-paced through lessons, but the tools are not intuitive and difficult to master. Time is a valuable commodity for teachers. Learning curve for instructional tools needs to be fast. Attempting to create more professional presentations by combining slides, documents, blank templates, and teacher clips (live view for demos) in the same video is a technology challenge, yet to be achieved. File naming and editing recordings is tricky, as I’ve lost much work due to auto-naming and tool issues. Importing multi-page files in a desired layout escapes me. If there is an online training, I’d love to take advantage before the new school year begins on Aug 5.
No one really uses this

The interface is mildly annoying at times but this product makes great videos for my students. One issue I have is the lack of tech support. I have reached out a few times about issues I was having and did not hear back. I am also perplexed by the lack of animated gif support within the app. Why can’t I use an animated gif if the native iOS can do that right in the preview window when adding the file? I have been screen recording the animations and then cropping them to insert. So many steps! Please fix this issue.

UPDATE. GREEDY AS THEY COME
by AntonioValencia on 2019/03/02 13:10
UPDATE. Well forget this guys. SUBSCRIPTION AFTER PAYING 15.00. Writing a quick review. There is another version of the app. Better than the classic version. The "Explain Everything Special Version" has collaborative capability and better drawing tools the classic one. Below is my comment on the current Special Version. Writing this review hoping the makers of the app will read my comment. I was an original supporter of the "classic" version of this app. For an unknown reason they had to make a special version. Instead of updating the old one. Biting the bullet, I decided to purchase the special version, just to support the app as I see an amazing potential use for the app. Was the $15.00 worth it? Will update in the near future. Things need improving in my opinion are the drawing tools and being able to zoom in out with gesture without picking the another tool. I still find it cumbersome. I'm used to using an app for drawing. I find myself going back and fort importing drawings from different app as I find it easier to draw. Hoping for the best.. Antonio

by Sufficingpit on 2019/01/16 02:09
I been using this app for years mostly for school, though have made things for myself outside of school due to powerful software like this usually being pretty expensive while this is relatively cheap. I recently had gotten my iPad broken so upon getting a new iPad and redownloading this, I noticed you have to subscribe to a thing JUST TO HAVE MORE THEN ONE SLIDE. I don’t know how long it has been like that since I don’t frequently check updates... but to be honest I am very disappointed... I may still use this from time to time but having a single slide while that plus button taunts me is really an off putting... Aswell as having a limited number of projects you can have. I say thanks to the people who developed this as it has done a lot of cool things for me and I am sad to see features are now locked due to needing a better “plan” while before having unlimited ability to do anything...
Constantly changing interface

I love the app, it is essential for faculty who want to record and annotate their presentations. While the ever changing interface is job security for me as an instructional designer, it is supreme frustration for time crunched faculty. Keep the download to the device button in the same place so all of the late adopters can keep up.

Bait and switch
by rabbitt92 on 2018/11/30 17:21
So, Explain Everything has become another “bait and switch” scam. I bought this app a while ago, but now I find out that it has become Explain Everything “Legacy.” I downloaded the new Explain Everything and find out that if I want a lot of the same functionality that I had with the original version, one that I already paid for I remind you, I have to pay a monthly fee of $12.99 or $107 per year. Are you kidding me?
Cost
by a_chase on 2018/11/26 18:00
My subscription recently expired, but when I look to renew, I can only find options to pay either $12.99/mo or $107.99/year. Is the $24.99/yr option no longer available for an individual user? I am a teacher, love the program, and the old yearly fee was great. Unless I am missing something, the fees currently listed are too cost prohibitive for me ☹️

by GenjiFletcher on 2018/10/10 17:24
I downloaded the app thinking it would be useful, but it did not have what I needed. I deleted it from my iPad, and I am being charged for it. There is no place to cancel the service which I did not sign up for and was not given notice that I was signing up for a service or signing up for a free trial. I would rate this zero if I could.
Absolutely Awesome!
by bad guitar on 2020/08/29 23:24
I’ve used Explain Everything for almost 5 years without any of the technical difficulties mentioned by other reviewers; not a single glitch, freeze, or lost project.

Glitchy
by Jhatzis99 on 2020/09/07 20:11
I wanted to like this app.

Great app but
by arte0 on 2017/10/12 20:27
I’ve been using this app for a couple of months now and it’s been going very smoothly until the latest update or maybe it is an iOS 11 compatibility issue I have no clue , the thing is writing using the Apple pen has been delaying and letters coming out in a very not this fluid way as it used to be it’s like when you write a bit fast you can notice letters missing and not showing all out “like writing with a pen running out of ink” and thank you for a great tool fellas and hope you fix this out
Great app - lifesaver during distance learning
by Rlonline on 2020/05/13 22:37
This app has a great many bells and whistles that has really come in handy since I started using it a few weeks ago. It is easy to use and have used it several times to draw things out for my students while teaching them online. Having the recording feature is also great. Thank you!
Thanks.
Stop the glitch!
by SophieDaGlowingSloth on 2020/07/02 18:48
Hey, I am that girl who HATES HAVING TO DO SCHOOL FROM HOME!
Not worth the price... at all
by Jsjsisndjdnd on 2019/11/16 01:51
App itself is great. You have many options to edit and customize your notes etc etc... You decide whats best for you.
good tools but a problem...
by Parsa H.M on 2019/12/07 15:16
hi It’s a good writing app and I like it so much but unfortunately I have a problem with this and I appreciate you if you help me please . The problem is that I have your app on my Ipad Air 2 and I also have Adonit Pixel Stylus. I connect it to the app and everything’s good until when my hand touches the screen while i’m writing then words suddenly move. please help me to fix this. 🙏🏻❤️
Processing time slow
by jordanoo7 on 2020/01/05 18:41
I used to like the app a lot until 10 times waiting for it to “process” a 10 min video for 30 min only to fail the export each time. App needs work, frustrating!
Recently buggy and unpredictable
by JoeGuru on 2020/08/13 21:59
I used to love Explain Everything but something has happened to it.
Constantly changing interface
by bridges2tech on 2019/01/08 19:07
I love the app, it is essential for faculty who want to record and annotate their presentations. While the ever changing interface is job security for me as an instructional designer, it is supreme frustration for time crunched faculty. Keep the download to the device button in the same place so all of the late adopters can keep up.

Expensive
by jmartin1009 on 2019/01/24 15:15
I have been using this app for almost two years and I’m getting extremely frustrated that the monthly cost keeps going up. Ive used it for educational purposes and now see that there is a separate one time fee app. I find it outrageous that after paying monthly for years I still have to pay for the new app. I’m not impressed and am looking into new software to use in my classroom.
It’s okay
by wafflez_gxng on 2020/01/22 23:50
Honestly, I think it’s good, but I have a problem. I work on chrome books at school and I can’t figure out how to edit a text. I have to put things in later on, so it’s hard when I don’t know how. It’s probably user error, but it’s easier on my phone. But my phone is really small compared to the computer so it’s hard
Terrible New Update
by Shishkabobian102 on 2018/02/07 03:54
This app is honestly terrible. I got on it and I use it for group projects maybe once every other month. I thought that this would help but obviously it isn't helpful because you have to pay money for the app to work. You can't even 'undo what you wrote unless you delete the entire screen. I would not suggest getting this app unless you plan on 'paying an extra 5 dollars just for it to work. It's a scam.
October 5th update
by szuraw267 on 2017/10/08 22:55
I love this app, however with the latest update I am now having difficulty with annotating. There is a delay when writing and what is written is not precise and very difficult to read. How can I resolve this issue?
The new update crashes constantly
by Fastpitch1720 on 2018/10/11 18:39
I keep losing progress and having to re-record because of how frequently this app’s latest update crashes! I was just fine paying $4/month for the old version but if the new version doesn’t work the bugs out, I’ll be heading to ShowMe or someone comparable.
Complete garbage
by Tahoeandy on 2019/11/05 04:41
I wanted to try to use this to help patients understand medical issues but every time we try to link it does not work or when I write something it does not appear on the other end. Very difficult to use complete garbage.
Update 5.2.3

Horrible way to limit free version’s functionality
by abhi42 on 2020/05/01 08:25
I didn’t realize that the free version only supports the content in the red area. After working on a mind map for 3 hours, I saved it and closed the app. Next time I open the app I am horrified to see that all of my work except this one section is lost! Either make it payware or let the user know beforehand. This was a really good app except this.

Glitchy
by Jhatzis99 on 2020/09/07 20:11
I wanted to like this app.
Absolutely Awesome!
by bad guitar on 2020/08/29 23:24
I’ve used Explain Everything for almost 5 years without any of the technical difficulties mentioned by other reviewers; not a single glitch, freeze, or lost project. So thank you, and here’s looking to at least another 5 years!

by kenndri12 on 2020/07/23 16:19
This app is extremely useful for creating engaging lessons and getting students to collaborate. 😁😁

Basic drawing is just busted

Aggravated
by aggrevated chemistry teacher on 2020/03/17 23:55
App frozen 5 times during first day.
I have collected a bunch of ways to use this (card sorts is my most recent thought) But until they make the ninja mode more usable, I can’t see myself using it in the classroom.

by wafflez_gxng on 2020/01/22 23:50
Honestly, I think it’s good, but I have a problem.

Not worth the price... at all
by Jsjsisndjdnd on 2019/11/16 01:51
App itself is great. You have many options to edit and customize your notes etc etc...

Teacher’s Best Friend
by Mister Sandhu on 2019/10/08 15:18
I don’t know where I would be without this app. I use Explain Everything on my iPad Pro during every class. With an Apple TV I’m able to project the notes as I take them in class, then I simply save the notes as a PDF and post them online. Also making videos is SUPER easy. Whenever I know I will be out, I just record a video of the notes and post the link on Google Classroom, the students never miss a beat. I highly recommend this app to all teachers, I originally read about it on a teacher blog and I’m extremely satisfied!

No one really uses this
by another iOS developer on 2019/07/09 01:38

No Animated GIFs
by Tom Smolka on 2019/05/15 14:10
The interface is mildly annoying at times but this product makes great videos for my students.

Antonio

Don’t like plans
by Sufficingpit on 2019/01/16 02:09
I been using this app for years mostly for school, though have made things for myself outside of school due to powerful software like this usually being pretty expensive while this is relatively cheap.
Constantly changing interface
by bridges2tech on 2019/01/08 19:07
I love the app, it is essential for faculty who want to record and annotate their presentations. While the ever changing interface is job security for me as an instructional designer, it is supreme frustration for time crunched faculty. Keep the download to the device button in the same place so all of the late adopters can keep up.

Update made app price prohibitive
by CAKersch on 2018/12/21 13:20
Before the latest update I would have given this app 10 stars. I can’t tell you how many hours I have used explain everything to create videos for my flipped classroom and to record examples from my math class for students who were gone. Yesterday when I went to add a new slide I received a message that I needed to subscribe to get more slides. I payed for the app (one time, several years ago). Over my Christmas break I’ll have to try to find a new app to replace this one. I’ve tried to find the version I’d been using... The description of this app needs to be modified to let teachers know it now requires a subscription to use this app.

Absolutely Awesome!
by bad guitar on 2020/08/29 23:24
I’ve used Explain Everything for almost 5 years without any of the technical difficulties mentioned by other reviewers; not a single glitch, freeze, or lost project.
Don’t like plans
by Sufficingpit on 2019/01/16 02:09
I been using this app for years mostly for school, though have made things for myself outside of school due to powerful software like this usually being pretty expensive while this is relatively cheap.
Glitchy
by Jhatzis99 on 2020/09/07 20:11
I wanted to like this app.
No Animated GIFs
by Tom Smolka on 2019/05/15 14:10
The interface is mildly annoying at times but this product makes great videos for my students.
Great app
by cawfietawk on 2020/05/11 11:09
This app is as game changer.
Thank you!
Thanks.
Stop the glitch!
by SophieDaGlowingSloth on 2020/07/02 18:48
Hey, I am that girl who HATES HAVING TO DO SCHOOL FROM HOME!
Not worth the price... at all
by Jsjsisndjdnd on 2019/11/16 01:51
App itself is great. You have many options to edit and customize your notes etc etc... You decide whats best for you.
good tools but a problem...
by Parsa H.M on 2019/12/07 15:16
hi It’s a good writing app and I like it so much but unfortunately I have a problem with this and I appreciate you if you help me please .
Recently buggy and unpredictable
by JoeGuru on 2020/08/13 21:59
I used to love Explain Everything but something has happened to it.

Expensive
by jmartin1009 on 2019/01/24 15:15
I have been using this app for almost two years and I’m getting extremely frustrated that the monthly cost keeps going up.

This was a really good app except this.

by good/nope! on 2020/05/28 16:55
I have explain everything on another device, it works fine.
Lots of Great Editing Features
