No equalizer function in music streaming app? Seriously??
For sweet Satan’s sake
by BigDumby on 2020/12/02 02:10
I miss Google Play. It was so much easier to navigate and manage. This is such a letdown. And please, at least give users the options 1. to separate their YouTube watch history from their YouTube Music account and 2. To turn off that awful autoplay/up-next feature. Who needs an algorithm forced on them that decides what they’re going to listen to next? The dreck that ends up in some of those up-next queues...
Glitchy
by cdmihai on 2020/12/02 01:26
Keeps forgetting the currently playing Playlist as soon as I pause the music and some time goes by. Sometimes it also stutters and crashes. I'd have switched to another music service if YouTube music hadn't made it so hard to migrate.
I love this app
by bella avila on 2020/12/02 01:16

Trash

Impossible to cancel subscription if you had premium on an android and switched to iphone. Literally only paying because i cannot manage my subscription. Please fix this asap. Unacceptable.
Auto Video Quality
by Cheech64 on 2020/12/01 20:17
Keeps reverting back to Auto video quality (potato) on the next video even though 1080p was selected. Internet connection is more than capable. Not sure why a premium service would downgrade their video quality after force selecting high definition. The regular YouTube app doesn’t have this problem.
Took you guys long enough

Way better than Google Play, and easy to transfer
Should’ve been an easy switch.
by joshua_ramos8 on 2020/12/01 17:56
I use every Google product out there. When I switched to YouTube Music because Google play was being taken down, I transferred my music (that went smoothly) and I thought it would be the same interface as Google Play, but it’s incredibly worse. Here are a lists of things I hope to see in future updates. 1) When you add a new song to a downloaded playlist, the song should automatically download instead of having to re-download (or refresh) the whole playlist. Google did this perfectly, not sure why YouTube can’t. 2) Ability to select multiple songs at once to transfer to playlists/download. 3) The app saves your playback settings. Having to select “loop” every time I play a playlist is ridiculous. I want to be able to hit “shuffle” and not have to worry about that extra step. Especially since you have to select the queue and then hit loop. 4) The ability to download the whole song library. Again, Google made that easy but now you have to download everything separately, or add everything separately to a playlist. 5) Quick navigation between Albums, Artist, Playlist and library. I respect that YouTube music is trying to get more people noticed by adding a bunch of recommendations and exploring options, but at the end of the day, 9 out of 10 times when I use the app, I just want to listen to the music I have in my library. Every now and then I love how easy it is to find new music when I want to, but that shouldn’t be a priority above the music I already enjoy. 6) “Downloads” should be categorized, having songs, albums, and playlists all in one line gets aggravating when I’m looking for one playlist. 7) the “download only” switch on Google was absolutely amazing. I can open the app and start playing music instantly. Now I have to wait for it to buffer and load but I know it’s not loading my music, it’s loading all the recommendations and explore stuff when I don’t need that. Which again, furthers my point that it shouldn’t be a priority to have all that. I love Google products and YouTube, but I really didn’t think the switch to YouTube music was going to be so aggravating. It got to the point where I’m looking for alternatives because I have never experienced so much irritation with a music app before. I never ever write reviews, but I want this app to work so well that I am writing this in hopes these adjustments are made.

Unsubscribing
by RedhouseClan on 2020/12/01 15:36
I was a Google Play customer for years, made playlists with thousands of songs, I took pride in my playlists. After the move to YTM, I’m unsubscribing. I’ve given them time to tweak the minor UI pieces with no luck. It’s a shame that I’m going to lose all that music from the playlists but this system is now garbage. I’ve already paid this month, told the family we’ll be moving to Apple Music so get to migrating their playlists and get ready to say goodbye to YTM. To the developers, you had an easy task from a customers perspective. You should’ve just rebranded Google Play and left he platform alone.
Fine, but insecure
by JeffFreemanPresents on 2020/12/01 14:54
Hopefully, writing this review will get YouTube off my back about writing a review. I like the app, but pressuring me for a review e v e r y d a y is sooooo annoying. Come on guys, get a life. We like you, ok?
Very good app
by Mr SayefM. on 2020/12/01 14:13
I love this app because it’s very easy to use and it plays even while the iPhone is off which is very useful
Not as good as the old google music
by analogue rules! on 2020/12/01 14:03
Don’t like this at all. Too cumbersome to find and go through my own uploads. I don’t care about signing up for even more streaming services. I only need this to listen to the stuff that used to be on google play/music... whatever it was called. Constant changes by tech overlords make me want to install a cd changer in my car or maybe an 8 track.
Mostly great with some minor bugs
by w1lliams on 2020/12/01 13:07
Big library, nice UI, free if you already are a YouTube Premium subscriber. But some weird bugs, like if you rate anything negatively (like a song you are not currently listening to) it switches the song you are currently listening to every time.

Terrible replacement for Google play music
by Jasonbird on 2020/12/01 06:58
The app will not play music uninterrupted unless you upgrade and pay a monthly fee. Change screens, won’t play. Turn off your screen, won’t play. Use any other app, won’t play. Just awful. I’m going to find another place for my music.
Come on guys..

LET PEOPLE ADD ONE SONG ONLY TO THE QUEUE
by random nickname 57384 on 2020/12/01 05:31
Why on earth are you guys neglecting such a basic feature that literally every music player (including GPM that you forced people to switch from) has??? There’s a million different AI customization playlist options but you can’t let people start a queue without a hundred different songs they didn’t ask for?? If I want to listen to a radio I can start it myself from the dot menu, we don’t need YTM to force feed us one every time we want to add ONE song to start a queue. Also, on iPhone, when you hit add to queue on an empty queue, the song doesn’t even show up. It’s baffling that such a brain dead basic feature hasn’t been implemented yet. Imagine ending GPM for this.
Like it over all, but.......
by jeffreyjmob on 2020/12/01 04:34
Used Google play for years. Liked it the best out of all the platforms I have access to. The YouTube app has been good so far and I am digging the playlists feature quite a bit. The only thing missing I feel is there is no sleep timer like Google Play has. I am still using Google Play at night or when I want the music to stop after a preset time. If YouTube coders could add the sleep timer this would be a 5 star app for me. Thanks! Jeff
Not bad, but apple music is far better.
by hellotnfus on 2020/12/01 04:16
This app works fine for streaming music, but at the same price as apple music and spotify, it feels like a let down. Go with apple or spotify instead, you won’t regret it.
Repeat button is hard to find
by mrz1692 on 2020/12/01 02:43
So I converted my google play music to YouTube music and I’m relatively happy about it. There’s 2 things that need improvement: the only way I’ve found to find the repeat button is to click on the full screen and then you can put a song on repeat. However, when you put it in full screen, it cuts off the top and bottom parts of the album art. That’s about the only part(s) that’s I think need some improvement.
Pointless
by rxqwwwthe true on 2020/12/01 01:41
It’s just YouTube with less music and costs more just pointless.
No more voice command support for uploaded owned music
by Rob Cortese on 2020/12/01 00:00
The transition over to YouTube music has left me angry and annoyed. I have 3 google home speakers that are now useless. I cannot voice command any of them to play the music I purchased and own. I must now be a YouTube premium subscriber, had I known google would do this I would have never invested in a google home. These speakers are useless now. What’s next, you must pay a monthly membership to turn on/off your connected lights???

Don’t like this app
by ruslannabiev on 2020/11/30 22:55
I’m thinking about switching back to Apple Music unless this app really becomes good. I would like a volume scrubber and more ease of use. A more simple ui like Apple Music and I keep my premium membership. I think I don’t like this app because it’s not very simple to use.
not enough selections
by The best driver112233 on 2020/11/30 22:24
this app used to be my go to but now when i type in a song it always gives me the instrumental or a cover by someone else. and i can’t even click on one of the picks they have for me it says playback failed every time. now i’m stuck listening to the same songs of the same type of music and im getting tired of it.

HORRIBLE absolutely HORRIBLE
by cjeep98 on 2020/11/30 14:11
I feel like my music collection was kidnapped and being held for random and one must pay this randoms monthly otherwise they take your purchased music again. I cannot download my purchased music from google and download it to the app. They want me to stream my purchased music or pay a subscription to play albums I purchased on google!!! I feel like google play owes me all the money I spent on albums the last 10 years!!! If you actually appreciate music and curated a collection through google purchases this app is a nightmare. The app is also unsafe to use in the car. It forces you to dig through menus to access your own paid for music and does not play continuously forcing you to look at the screen. YouTube music is literally a n accident waiting to happen. Whoever’s grand idea it was to hold people’s purchased music hostage there is a special place in hell for you!!
Guaranteed to help
by Bravo 344 Romeo on 2020/11/30 14:05
It would be so convenient if this app had a feature where we can mix around the order of the songs downloaded, instead of shuffling it. Out of the many songs that I downloaded, I have my favorites and it would be good to just pick one at the top instead of scrolling all the way to the bottom.
Better than Spotify
by Ringo457 on 2020/11/30 13:56
Why pay for Spotify when YouTube’s music platform is just as good, probably better. If you use YouTube for both videos and music it’s a two-for one deal.

Horrible alternative to google play music
by Mee123! on 2020/11/30 05:31
Can’t play music in background unless you have a premium subscription something others apps do for free. Look elsewhere.
Worst UX/UI ever.
by jassy_designer on 2020/11/30 01:48
This is so poorly designed. It’s confusing to use. Why so many down arrows and back arrows and lists within lists within lists. I get the theme is black and red, but how about a little color to differentiate between an artist page and a playlist? The app is slow to rotate whenever I turn my phone. Sometimes it’s impossible to exit the full screen when holding horizontal...also: why is that even the default? A user should choose to enter full screen. I also noticed the same flaw here as in Google play. I have 200+ songs on a playlist but it only plays the same small group of songs no matter how many thumbs up I give songs or how many times I hit shuffle.
Keep google play music
by Wiley50 on 2020/11/30 01:23
This app is horrible and not a worthy replacement for google play music. It’s not smart about picking playlists, and when I run the radio off of my playlists it doesn’t make the list long enough. I used to make a station off of my playlist on google play and could drive 3-5 hours without having to touch anything. The UI is bad, and just doesn’t feel like a music app at all, only thing that kept me subscribed is not having ads on YouTube, but that’s not enough to justify $10/mo now. Time to test out Spotify and Apple Music again
Easy on the eyes!!!
by Tommiepants the death dealer on 2020/11/29 22:33
I’ve been using google music and because it was included with my YouTube premium, I was loving it all except the lack of Dark mode. Google music was hurting my eyes (for years) with the bright orange and white. I’m just extremely glad that YouTube music has a dark mode and I get to keep my playlist

A complete downgrade from Google Play Music
by Norris7384 on 2020/11/29 16:26
The interface is confusing and constantly tries to stream music when all I want to do is play my music from my library. All my music transferred from Google Play Music is flat in timbre and pitch.
Best options for access to media
by BrownsvilleVic on 2020/11/29 13:31
IMHO YouTube music provides the best system for accessing all genres of music. From new releases to old school classics, to YouTube videos and playlists, it all comes together in one place with this app and service.
Needs better organization
by JerseyJEH on 2020/11/29 11:51
Everything moved from play. I had a large library, it is hard to scroll through so it needs the alphabet down the right side of the screen to help get to a section. Also I have not see an edit feature. I have a few albums in which every song is doubled.
Worst app ever
by ncc420 on 2020/11/29 07:00
I’ve actually started listening to music less because this app is such a downgrade from google play music. How would anyone with sound reasoning even think this is an acceptable app? It is one of the worst migrations I have ever seen and is truly appalling that google/YouTube would think this is acceptable. They better make the changes everyone is calling for or they’re going to lose a lot of paying customers including myself
Promising but lacks apps on devices
by DigheDean on 2020/11/29 05:24
I don’t have a native YouTube music app on my assistant devices or car. Spotify is leaps and bounds better integrated. But, the music selection here is fantastic, especially on the Hindi songs side.
Just YouTube with the word “music “ added

I’m Becoming a fan
by Review guy 467 on 2020/11/29 03:56
YouTube music doesn’t just have official music but also music done by other artists. Having music videos to watch is awesome. To me that’s the big Advantage it has over Spotify. Granted the price it has for premium does feel a little outrageous but it feels worth it. Because when I bought a subscription back in July this has truly helped me during work. I work at a grocery store having to deal with people is exhausting but having this has truly helped me stay calm. I am really grateful to have a lot of music on here. My opinion there is a lot more music here than Spotify. Spotify may have podcasts I enjoy using google podcasts more. Cause Spotify doesn’t seem to have many of the podcasts I like. Some that aren’t there I can find on google podcasts. I know I got off track but this was my best attempt at trying to writing a good review. Apple music I tried once but I did learn if you have purchased some songs then purchased a subscription you would have to have your purchase songs download onto your phone. Cause if you don’t it just a mess because you don’t know what songs that you have purchased and which songs you saved due to your subscription. Which is why I think Apple Music isn’t really the best for me. The only thing good Apple Music does have is the radio you can play any radio station you can think of but you have to know the right radio station there is no save feature. Which is why it’s better just to use either a iHeart, tunein, or radio.com. The only good thing about Spotify is if you’re using free tier you can listen to music while using any other app.YouTube music free tier in order to keep the music playing you do need to keep your phone on that is a major drawback but in my opinion it’s not that big of a deal. If I want to listen to music while using other apps I can just play one of the radio apps that I mentioned. Anyway I hope this Review helps you in someway.

Garbage
by Merduckleigh on 2020/11/29 00:11
This is the least functional music service that has ever been developed. It is insane to me that Google would replace their excellent Google Music app with this piece of garbage. You can’t automatically upload music anymore. You can’t even search for music of a particular genre. YouTube Music does exactly nothing.
Best YouTube sound playlist 🤟

YouTube music is my everything. I don’t need to download and play. All I listen when I’m on the road or doing something. With the $12.99 there is no ads and I love it. And I think I’ll keep the YouTube music like forever. Thank you YouTube
Trash App
by Khaleesi Blackk on 2020/11/28 19:36
First off, this app is so unnecessary. I had no problems or complaints with Google Play. YouTube Music UI was poorly set up which is my main problem. Google, get rid of this and bring back Google Play!
Great app
by Tenanteer on 2020/11/28 18:48
I like this app but I do wish you could have an album and artist grid like you have for the “Your Favorites” section. You had this same format with Google Play Music - full-on album covers displayed in a grid. The icing on top would be to make it user-adjustable to have anywhere from say, 3 up to 6 albums per row. However, that part is not necessary as long as the album covers your can be fully displayed. The list format you have now is so tiny I have to strain to see it. The list view would make more sense on a phone but for an iPad, you need to take advantage of the extra screen size. Thanks.
Fraud
by yousuknow on 2020/11/28 17:31
It appears your rating is inflated, in comparison to your reviews, I just want to listen to my playlist that I bought and paid for , the first thing that happens when you open the app is they want you to buy a subscription, this is total BS , if I can’t figure out how to listen to my music without subscribing, you owe me $$$ for my music I paid for !! Greed will be your downfall!

by eddieelgordo on 2020/11/28 16:58

Absolute horrible downgrade from google play music
by ByxBHee on 2020/11/28 16:33
I was able to just listen to my purchased music in the background on play music, but there is now a paywall to access anything conveniently in YouTube music. The horrible layout makes it hard to find my play music transfers and relevant searches or suggestions. I could easily find and organize my library on play music, but not on YouTube music with all of its extra garbage. I absolutely hate this change and it is such a disappointing downgrade. I wish I could have negative stars since that is my experience and satisfaction with this new service.

Absolutely NOT for you if you want classical music
by Margi311 on 2020/11/28 13:45
There’s hundreds of years of classical music to choose from but the idiots at YouTube apparently think that it’s listeners who were forced into this trash app after Google Music quit are only interested in listening to absolute garbage new age classical “lite” Muzak. Please hire some people who actually have a CLUE to curate some real classical music. I want to hear Bach, Beethoven, Mozart ANYTHING. I clicked on a “classical Christmas” station this morning and got a Pentatonix song. OK fine, I can live with that. And then Mariah Carey came on. I mean, am I being punked?? What absolute nonsense. When I listen to their classical solo piano playlist it’s the same 10-15 modern “lite” listening songs. Well I’d like to introduce you to Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, Debussy, Mozart. They kinda wrote a lot of piano music - maybe they could be added! It’s so frustrating to have classical music get marginalized over and over. This is a rubbish app.

by Yettavr6 on 2020/11/28 13:42

by Rickafire on 2020/11/28 06:09
I’ve used YouTube music as my primary way to listen to music for ~4 years and it has some major flaws: If you listen to >500 songs the recommended songs will all be songs you already have liked. The ads are about one for every 3 songs you listen not including double ads (back to back) or ads that are 15 seconds-7 minutes long (my longest ever was half an hour) NO SCREEN OFF PLAY (unless you have YouTube music premium which is different from YouTube premium) Yes, YouTube has a much wider selection of songs than Spotify but Spotify has non of the problems listed above. This is not a scam and it works just fine but is only better than it’s main competitor in one regard while being drown out by several positives by Spotify TLDR: Spotify is objectively better, but this is ok.

Major Step Down From Google Play
by Marcass25 on 2020/11/28 05:35
This app is horrible. It rarely works. Unless I download the songs to my phone it almost never plays them. It doesn’t matter if I’m on WiFi or cellular network. Google Play worked great. Why is this such garbage?
Disappointed
by NovaLight1999 on 2020/11/28 05:25
Had this app for over a year and suddenly it deleted all the downloaded song I had already. It’s sad because I pay for a service that doesn’t stick to what you’re paying for!
Love it. There’s just one major thing.
by Jtelle$22 on 2020/11/28 04:22
I love this app, it’s way better than any other music app. But it’s really missing an equalizer. It’s such a must when it comes to audio. I know Android users have this ability. I just want to know why iOS haven’t had the ability to implement this into this app. It would definitely make things better than they already. Love the app, this one small change can be a game changer.
iOS Lock screen access
by IANaMERRILL on 2020/11/27 20:43
Where is the app control for the lock screen??? I would very much like to control the app and chromecast audio from my lock screen like Spotify allows. Google Home app media control as well as this YTM app needs lock screen access to iphone/iOS volume control PLEASE!

YouTube music
by peosper agent on 2020/11/27 08:07
I like streaming music because my phone is always with me . I started with a few selections and in the last 3 months - they have downloaded 6-8 discs that are a combination of my selections and music that is similar and they added discs that are specific to the kind of music I like when I’m falling asleep. They also add new releases albums that I like. I have only music - listening with commercials is terrible LS -2020- Dallas

YouTube Music you control
by courtoflaw on 2020/11/26 17:50
Great app but we know these guys are pros, maybe a bit overpriced, though. $12 seems a bit much when other, more seasoned music apps offer subscriptions for less. Somewhere between $4.99-7.99 seems more reasonable.
This app is a failure
by Hpwillbe on 2020/11/26 17:11
Irritating experience if you are a free user. Ads galore and doesn’t play music in the background so forget about using it in the car, you will go nuts and ram into someone either out of frustration or trying to mess with the clunky UX. Google is letting this user-base roll downhill.
Classical music at its best!
by Maryblueiris on 2020/11/26 14:30

We got rid of google play for a worst app They want you to pay money to get what Google play was and if you don’t play it’s basically just another YouTube app. Please add in the middle of the songs but also likes to pause or buffer repeatedly it makes listen to music and pain download Pandora or something else they really messed up by getting rid of Google play
Downloading music
by jackieortiz24 on 2020/11/26 08:47
Loved google play music and switching over is fine the only thing is downloading music, I miss the feature of just adding music to my library and it would download instantly. I wish that would happen because the lags of when music isn’t downloaded is very annoying and doing downloads manually, every single song one by one or album by album is annoying. Just a little disappointed.
Forget previous review...I love this app
by nikanico on 2020/02/24 22:24
Update: I figured I’d leave the prior review there to show how stupid I am... just don’t touch the screen so hard and those songs will move all over the place with incredible ease. I figured it out by accident.... moron moment over... love this app now more than ever... love love love Look, I love this service because it has literally every song/cover/live version etc. of everything.... however, I spend all day making these playlists that I cannot rearrange!!!!! I click edit, the equal sign (I don’t know what else to call it) appears on the left and I have to touch that thing like 87 times before I can get it just right so the stupid menu doesn’t come up instead. I HATE IT. It is literally so frustrating it makes me not even want to use the app. I’ve had to resort to deleting things that I want to be at the end of the playlist and then adding them again just to get them to where I want. Please please please fix this or make it easier or bigger or something. It’s literally a crapshoot on whether I can touch it just right so I can pull it up or down in the playlist. I can’t be the only one this annoys. That would shock me to the core....
Inexcusably bad
by D. Comiskey on 2020/11/12 01:34
I don’t even know where to start with just how buggy and unusable this app and YT Music is overall. It’s not a step down from Google Play - it’s ten steps down. GP worked flawlessly, you could edit metadata (like artwork), stream through your Sonos for FREE and it has/had a simple User interface. YTM has none of that and it’s simply inexcusable. All they had to do was rebrand GPM and call it a day. Instead, we get an app that is so frustrating to use. Plug it in CarPlay and you don’t get a “most recent” screen like every, single other music app gives you. You have to manually navigate to what you want. If you want to start up where you left off before, you have to use the app on the phone and make at least 3 clicks to get to your recent album/songs. It also doesn’t remember your playback settings. If you click on “repeat” for an album, it will usually stop by the second play. If you don’t have repeat on and you’re at the last song of an album, hitting the |> button won’t take you back to the first track. Again, that is just BASIC functionality. If you want to stream your library through your Sonia system? Well, with GP it was free. Now? You have to pay for the 9.99/mo upgrade fee for YTM “Premium.” No thanks, Google. You don’t take away a free service and give us an inferior one as a replacement and have the gall to charge people for it.
Basic features are a failure
by CurtisL on 2020/10/01 16:26
I truly don't understand how this app is rated so well. It fails in the most basic of ways, making using it a continually frustrating experience. When viewing Library by Artist, instead of showing the Albums by that artist like every music app ever, including Google Play Music, it just lists all the songs by that artist. "YT Music" and "Uploads" are separated when. Looking at your library, so you have to look in two different places to see all the content from a single artist. Loop preference does not persist between queues, so when you start a new album or playlist, if you want it to loop, you have to select that EACH TIME. You can view Downloads just fine if you have service, but if you're in a low service area, the app will just sit at a loading screen forever, blocking access to everything, unless you turn on airplane mode. It's a mess. The only marginal improvement on Google Play Music has been consistent album art when in offline mode (it'd just disappear in GPM for some reason). This app needs SO MUCH WORK and seems to have been designed by a team that has never worked on this type of app before, or simply doesn't get UX at all. Being forced to replace GPM with this is incredibly frustrating.
Missing Google play music
by westopher718 on 2020/09/22 14:40
In all honesty I switched over to this app with a really open mind because I figured it would work about the same as Google play music. But I've been disappointed in certain functions. I mostly listen to my music while I'm driving so the download-only feature is really important. On Google, you could toggle your downloads on and off and then sort by artist if you wanted. I've noticed on this app that if you want to listen to downloads you can either choose one individual album or you can shuffle all of your songs. This is frustrating to me. The other thing I'm not thrilled about is the really bad lag when I skip a song or two. And this is still if I'm only listening to my downloaded music so there is no reason for the app to act like it's buffering or whatever the problem is here?? I really wanted to like this app. I did. But it's got some pretty major issues and they had a long time to sort this out before making everyone switch over.
One “tiny” complaint
by •Kit Katt• on 2020/09/24 16:05
Ok, so this app is great if you just wanna listen to music, which I like to do. So I opened the app, and it asked my if I wanted to start my free trial. I said no, because I wanted to save it. Then I exited the app because I didn’t want to use it yet. So that happened yesterday, and when I went on the app today, it said my free trial was ending soon. I checked if I had Premium, and apparently I did. Why did it give me Premium? I didn’t want to use the free trial yet. When I had YT Music on my old iPad, it let me choose when I wanted to use the free trail. And the “Try Premium today” thing doesn’t have a exit button. The only thing you can do is press the button, or exit the app. Apparently both result in YT Premium now, so either it’s a glitch, or on purpose. Anyway, beside this wall of one complaint, the app is pretty good. I like how you can shuffle the playlist and it recommends you more songs. Well, have a good day.
Content winner, though lacking some polish and features
by Caster Shell on 2018/02/09 19:39
Hands down, the most music of any service. If it's a song that was recorded by humans it's probably in here. And will at some point come across your station. End of the day that's what matters most to me for a music service. Exposure to content. That said, the app is missing a few minor convenience features present in other similar services. My biggest peeve, no Windows PC music only mode. I listen to music a lot at work and would prefer not to eat bandwidth for videos I'm not watching. While in power the app has no option to keep the screen on meaning I have to unlock my phone to thumb a song down while driving. And the most minor, no way to thumb down a song that's not currently playing, gotta stop playing the current track, start playing the other one, then thumb it down. Also, why no access to comments?
I hate this. Google music this is not.
by i6ix on 2020/10/09 19:45
I was a Google music user, for years and years. Would have or not have subscription throughout, depending, but would always store my library online with it and use it. This... is awful. Trying to play your music library is painful, so deep in menus, and somehow I always end up being pulled into some mode of having to hear either ads or other songs / artists I don’t care about. Basically, this is the music app for people who don’t actually know anything about music. It’s for that guy who listens to “whatever” on Pandora. It’s not for people who like particular artists, or who have any love for albums. This service is a mess just like every other Google product has become over the years. Sad truth. Just wait until they abandon it.. because they always do that. Instead of fixing a few things on Google Music, they killed it and gave birth to this mess. I don’t need all this junk, I just wanted a music player. So, back to loading everything onto my device via iTunes I guess.
Cash Grab
by tke240 on 2020/07/23 20:23
If you’re coming from Google Play and if you’re already paying for a Google Play subscription, then this app may be perfectly suited to you. If you’re migrating from the free version of Google Play, you’re likely going to be very unhappy. The app seems specifically designed to annoy the user with as many roadblocks to enjoying their music as possible in order to force them into purchasing a subscription. The app will not run in the background without a subscription, so forget about using it in the car and having a gps running at the same time. Advertisements are played in between nearly every song, including music you already purchased. Often these would be video ads so if you’re on a limited data plan, that’s going to hurt. Downloading your music is a premium feature as well. YouTube’s global head of music, Lyon Cohen, stated in an interview at SXSW “There’s a lot more people in our funnel that we can frustrate and seduce to become subscribers,” and it appears he’s making good on that. Google Play generated income off me in their free service by playing ads on their radio, which I was fine with and presumably by taking a cut of the sale whenever I purchased an album from them, which I was also fine with. However, I won’t be bullied into paying for a subscription. I’ve transferred my music to another service and will not be purchasing further music through Google/YouTube which is a shame as I felt Google Play was really well done.
Not working when offline
by -/$728 on 2020/09/25 18:51
I’m not happy about the behavior under unstable cellular environment or offline. This is really common when you road trip. 1. When I’m playing online music (my mix) and driving into non-cellular coverage area, the music stops and it stops forever. It should continue playing my downloaded music automatically without me touching the screen. It’s dangerous to do so while driving and I cannot easily navigate to the download page (see #2). 2. When I suddenly lose the cellular connection and I want to play downloaded music, I need to navigate to the “Library” page. However, the app somehow still thinks I have the connection and tries to load the page. The page is stuck in that loading circle forever and I cannot head to the downloaded music page. The only way to get around it is to kill the app, go to Airplane mode, go back to that page, and now you can see the offline version. It’s so ironic that you have to have real network connection to play the downloaded music.
This is my first review I’ve ever written on Apple
by LordBeard on 2020/09/20 13:28
This app...it’s a lot. I mean I was forced to come to this app. Visually, I love the interface over Google Music. Having the videos here are cool. The mixes are usually better than Google Music as well, but that’s where it ends. The force closing is tragic. If someone calls or you enter the app back quickly it will close the app. Unlike Google Music, it won’t even pick off where you left. Why are playlists not in alphabetical order...what in the crazy town of an idea was that. You can’t even search for your playlist, like you could on Google Music, without turning up a ton of other results and never yours. I mean these are like basic functions, I don’t ask for much, I ask for what i had to be what I had. This app was out months before y’all made us switch. So the basic functionality of Google music was just bypassed. I’m upset. I can’t even go back to Google Music. It’s like y’all are forcing me to go Apple Music but all of my downloads, about 10,000, are here. Sigh.
this app is great but
by Kenzie2004 on 2020/04/26 11:42
it could be better the “my mixtape” is just music that i went out of my way to find it music i have in my likes or downloads rarely is there new music in there that i haven't heard, along with that if my mixtape is supposed to be songs that i like and etc then don’t play different music at different times, in the morning it plays different music than in the afternoon and night which is okay but i like to hear everything and my morning music is the same as my night time and my afternoon music. Along with the play more music for me, if the new discover playlist or whatever it’s called is supposed to help me find new music it would be nice to make it more accurate I've never liked a song that played in that playlist and it’s not even the type of music i listen to and i’ll listen to anything. also it needs to be updated all the time not every Wednesday.
Why Did You Remove The Feature That Allowed Us To Find Remixes From The “More” Button?
by IStoppingPowerI on 2018/06/02 01:12
(Updated On Exp) Starting to love this new look actually. I can see the songs I enjoy replaying come up well at the top section. What was great before was tapping a track that I’ll enjoy, and wondering - what would some remixes/covered/related tracks sound like. The older “more” button or what the current “i”/“Information” button had previously done this. It was awesome! I was hooked. I could find so many great songs from other artists/DJs and so on by finding a great hit, then tapping those buttons. Now those features aren’t to be found. I don’t feel confident paying because I can get the same great hits/music from streaming services that I’ve never tried before. I was a student for all the time I’ve used it (1.5 years) as well - so I really do love the app! It’s harsh pressing the info button and seeing nothing.

It’s ok
by grizzlemynizzle on 2020/09/18 16:50
Using this app since it’s replacing google play. I don’t like that it takes forever to connect to my Bluetooth it seems to always have a lag and the music buffers in the beginning too. I never experienced this with google play. Maybe the music videos are still loading in the background even though it’s on “music only” mode. I also really dislike that my music never picks up where it left off when I’m done. I have to manually go and search for my song every time I restart my car or anytime I come back to the app really. I’ve tried not closing the app on my home screen but it didn’t male a difference. Sometimes my playlists can get long and searching for a song toward the middle is annoying. I do like that I can find any song that’s on YT on here though, sometimes google play would not offer songs YT music has offered.
Meh
by furhdab on 2020/08/13 12:57
I love the amount of music available! I came from google play music so this was great! My quips though and I hope these are changes that come along: my library doesn’t give me the ability to choose a letter and then get taken to that area, I literally have to scroll to let’s say the H’s... which wouldn’t be bad if I didn’t have over 3000 songs in my library. You can’t change the song when your phone is locked, you have to go into the app to do that and pause it. Also when you go to an artist’s page and click a song by them, it doesn’t just play their next top song it goes to a different artist that is similar and starts playing a song by them. And every time I remove a song from my que, the app forces you back to the top of the list and then you have to scroll back down to where you were.
Can't customize anything
by killershadow115 on 2019/07/23 08:47
Alot of the recommended stations are just some main stream popular artist I never listen too. Let me add my own playlist or artist to my main menue play lists. Let me add or move wdgests around. And for crying out loud all the playlist have the same songs... Like if I click on a dubstep song or something why put something non related to dubstep there? Same with Nightcore or electro music.. let me make my experience with this app better by allowing me to change and move things around. I don't even scroll down because it's all garbage that I'll never click on. It's so sad that this app just get worse and worse. Now you added that song video thing when the old one worked perfectly fine. Now It randomly switches to video even if I selected song. I had a grate experience with this app for like 3 years but it's just getting worse and worse over that time
Good Google Play music transfer, other things to improve
by WITH LOVE... on 2020/07/14 01:42
I’m super happy they finally allowed the transfer of our Google Play music playlists, but using this as my main music app is going to need a few improvements if I’m being honest. First, the app can be glitchy when loading info the current song playing, and sometimes I have to close the app fully to get it to work. Secondly, if you are going to have a feature of having lyrics built into the app, please update it to where you know any song made within the last 30-40 years at the minimum will load no matter the genre or artist, no matter how popular or not the song is (in it’s current state it feels like a beta rather than a fully released music app.) I enjoy it overall but am looking forward to improvements moving forward.
SO AGGRAVATING!!
by SometimesFish on 2019/08/28 21:49
I downloaded the app and it very graciously gave me 2 weeks premium for free. I could download music and listen to it offline and it was add free. I was building up my playlist and towards the end of the 2 weeks I had about 50 songs downloaded and in my playlist. The end of the two weeks finally came and premium was gone. Here comes the problem. All my downloads were gone, you can only access them if u have premium. I was alright with that because I still had my playlist and could always use data. I go into my playlist and shuffle, the first song had an add. It was expected, but as I continued on I found that there is an add at the beginning AND end of EVERY song. There is an option to skip after 5 seconds but I don’t want to be pulling my phone out every few minutes to skip an add. THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN ENJOY THIS WITHOUT HAVING TO BUY PREMIUM. Thank you for reading my rant on why you shouldn’t download this app. Have a great day!
Great Concept - Terrible Execution
by Minorly Disgruntled on 2019/10/08 14:29
I honestly had high hopes for this app, but in the end it was just a major let down. The music selection is great, but everything else about the app is there to make sure you can never actually listen to the music. Most songs will stop after 10-30 seconds and restarting the app won’t fix this problem. It will happen often, randomly, and unpredictably. Also, one you pause a song and leave the app it loses it’s memory. So let’s say your on a road trip and stopped to get gas, when you get back in the car you essentially have to restart the entire playlist you were just on. Individually these problems aren’t terrible, but combined it is the absolute worst. Which is really upsetting considering the content on here is actually amazing. Overall, only use this app if you’re at home and don’t mind consistently trouble shooting. Not an app for on the go people with busy lives.
Dude Waht
by LaurenTheLaw on 2018/06/24 22:27
I really enjoyed this app. . . Up until recently. See, with the past few updates, it getting harder and harder to find the music I like. It recommends different versions of a song I like, but I don’t want different versions, I just want to listen to the song the way I like it. Be it faster tempo or otherwise. Also, first page I see when I enter the app now offers less of the things I’m interested in. While my favorite songs are cramped in a corner all together, a bunch of things I don’t care about take up the entire screen. I don’t want to listen to ‘New Releases’ or ‘Hottest Country Albums’ because that’s NOT WHAT I LIKE. The music I want is shoved in a corner under ‘your favorites’. SURE, those are TOTALLY my favorites and not just DIFFERENT THINGS ENTIRELY. I don’t even know what half of the stuff recommended to me are! I had high hopes for these few big updates, but all I see is failure to pander towards the audience. Please, staff. I know there is a low chance of someone reading this, especially since it’s a negative review. Please give me back the app that I loved! Instead of just calling random music you’ve thrown at me ‘personalized’, just go back to the way you were. This isn’t difficult. All you have to do is take away the new bad stuff, and replace it with the old good stuff. Thank you. Sincerely, An unhappy customer
Just falls short
by kcchiefn420 on 2020/11/03 06:43
This app has a lot of potential and I’m not sure who decided to have it work the way it does but very simple things this app doesn’t offer is holding it back so much. For instance if I click add song to queue it makes so much more sense to add said song to a new list that starts after the current song playing not at the end of the shuffled playlist which can have hundreds of songs in it. Adding to a queue means you want to listen to it next or at the least soon. And why for the love of god is it almost the end of 2020 and this app doesn’t support the ability to remember the shuffle and replay settings when you come back to the app. I mean such simple things like this are littered through the app and are holding what has potential to be the best music streaming app back from the top. TL:DR Fire whoever your app dev is cause they are trash.
Saved items keep don’t update automatically
by Go MArk on 2019/09/24 20:44
Please, if I have a playlist synced in “saved items” it supposed to update (download automatically) all the new tunes which I put on the same name “online” playlist, but it never uptade itself, the only way is deleting the playlist (in saved offline) and download all the way AGAIN to get sometimes just 3 new tunes I must to download like 3 hundreds tunes in order to keeps up-to-date my offline same name synced playlist. I’m thinking to cancel my subscription only because this, it already bugging me a lot. Second thing the music VIDEOS in a playlist synced to play offline some of them just play the music sound, if I created a Music VIDEOS playlist it’s supposed to play ONLY VIDEOS in all of musics which i put on it, not just a few aleatory (p.s: off course I added the video option when I did the prior search). One thing...
by Nymjy on 2020/10/20 22:19
So I really like this app because it almost reads your mind with the songs you want to listen to and I like that it gives you the option to watch the music video that goes with the song. The thing is (and I’ve seen complaints about this in other reviews), when you first get the app it asks it you want a free trial for premium. A lot of apps do this so I wasn’t too surprised but anyway I didn’t want to use mine, or at least not yet. So i just pressed the little “x” so I could go on without the trial but when I opened the app like a minute later it told me that I was currently in the free trial even though I’m 100% sure that I pressed the “x.” So ya, that’s pretty much my only complaint. Otherwise it’s a great app. Thanks for reading!
The revamp changes everything.
by Alex Lerman on 2018/05/25 04:00
This is a great app, has the absolute biggest library(YouTube), option for video and all of this is just the early access version! Very excited to see what the future updates bring with them. Few complaints are: Remove the swipe to delete from playlists, or make it harder to trigger, like requiring a double swipe. This was an issue in GPM, still an issue here. Also add shuffle and repeat buttons on the play screen and the ability to add whole albums to playlists. Other than that, keep up the good work and keep expanding the official library, as it’s missing big albums like Stoney by post Malone and 4 your eyes only by J Cole and so on.
Stoped working the same
by sanaya1201 on 2020/07/23 14:21
When I first downloaded the app I loved it because I could make my own playlists and it was always recommending me new music and artist and was always up to date when artist released new music, however I’ve had the app for a couple of years and I noticed that it started to say “song unavailable” and at first it was a couple of songs and I thought it got removed because some were songs I Hadn’t listened to in a while, however today I go on the app to listen to music and over half of my playlist with songs says song unavailable and when I tried to remove it and re- add the song it wouldn’t allow me to do so. I’m sad because I love this app, but I heard it happened to people with a premium account as well, so unfortunately I have to find another app to listen to music on in the meantime. Please fix this!
Good app but bugs with last updates
by nopicnic on 2019/04/11 20:43
Hands down, this app has the most music. Nice to be able to listen to lesser known artists, covers, live performances, etc. Editing and sharing playlists on the app is really easy. One peeve of mine is that it has an option to download songs, but if you are out and have no cell service - you can’t open “library” to access “downloads” without needing internet - they should have an icon for “downloads” separate from “library” that opens right away without internet. Since the last update - it’s hit/miss with the app staying on. Before, you could lock your phone and the music would still play. Now it feels like you have to remember to trigger/wake the app to keep it on.
Seems Legit

Been using YT Music for about a month now and I’m pleased 100% so far! The My Mixtape section is great; I’ve had it play several songs that I love but hadn’t listened to in a while (oh the nostalgia). There are only a few glitches like how the app responds sometimes but not anything irritating to me in the least (some slow response times that last half a second). I know they are still working some bugs and kinks out, but I’ve yet to have the app crash on me since I’ve been using it. It’s my #1 go-to when listening to music on my phone whether I’m at home or driving. Can’t wait to see what new additions we get in the future!
Giving it four stars will change if app changes this.
by Danku Coris Chi on 2019/03/09 02:10
I want the app to change the premium version I want the app to where I’m able to play it off the app it’s frustrating cause I wanna do other things and if I turn my phone off then woop the music turns off I don’t like it at all and u ask for a lot of money when using the premium since that I never bought it It would be fine if u could let us listen off the app that way we could do other things on our phones it’s fine if u add ads skip turns or something but u need to a least let us listen off the app that’s all and I will change this rating to a five star when that is fixed anyway I hope u get this and change it have a nice day...
Good but...
by EdG70 on 2020/10/18 23:48
Been using the plataform for almost a year. It’s good but could have some improvements. Some of the songs are not recorded at the same volume so that creates a fluctuation when listening causing you to constantly adjust the volume. Second there’s no way (or at least I haven’t found it) to arrange the downloaded music into files in order to listen “offline”. Because you can have files, but they won’t play unless you are online. Offline you can arrange the songs in a “play next” but it won’t stay like that when you close the app. I would appreciate if someone tells me how to do this. Because I would like to have a “working out” file or “reading” file to listen offline.
I like the App, but...
by Rahee.khan on 2020/06/27 18:32
I often cast music from the App on my Sony TV. Whenever it is connected to the TV, overall App behavior becomes different, here are few examples: 1) When I play from my downloaded list, it does not follow the list itself. Depending on what song I select to play from the downloaded list, the queue becomes random with songs which is not in sync / order with my list 2) Moving a song up / down in the list also doesn’t work well, if I try to drag a song from one position to another, and I hold down for longer than 2-3 seconds, the drag auto releases, and scrolls back to where I originally started the drag from 3) Switching between Song / Video on the top bar is very slow, and sometimes reverses my choice, I have also seen a song being paused when attempting to switch to/from Song / Video Besides this or when just using the App without being connected to the TV, it works great, just wish the integration was smoother for my particular scenario Using iPhone 11 Pro and have auto-update on for Apps, and the TV is brand new Sony, so everything is relatively up to date on my side
Missing albums
by kaiaT^T on 2020/08/12 03:21
The app is okay. I transferred all my music over from google play and I expected a better experience which was met half way. While it has its benefits there are a lot of down sides. Some artist pages are literally missing albums. For example Steven universe which has some of season one album in its top song list but you can’t find the album anywhere on their page. I also have another album from Steven universe which also isn’t on the artist page and when you click -go to artist- it takes to to the same page where the album literally does not exist. Another problem I have is I get notifications of artists that I have not subscribed to. I can get notified of their new songs but not the ones that I am subscribed to.
No new songs, not worth the money for membership
by exe error 666 on 2020/06/14 19:41
No good song recommendations, all it does is play your like songs over and over, and then finally when you get a new song it usually not a good one some weird type of stuff that just isn’t worth the membership, and to top it off you shouldn’t need to pay to have music in the back ground I should be able to have my phone off without a membership, honestly if they did that it would probably bring in a lot more people so that’s an idea and if no one likes it to bad this is an honest review and this is only my opinion not anyone else’s but it’s not a good music app, unless you have money, and even then it’s challenging to find new and good songs, which is just a pure disappointment., edit: changed from 3 star to 1 star app is to frustrating, this is just ridiculous if I could would give a .5 star if possible
Great app but room for improvement
by Timacon on 2018/04/03 03:05
I love music and listen to it most everywhere I am that I can and your music library far surpasses any I’ve seen! I wish there were a few improvements that I’ve also heard others mention and those are being able to remove a song from the music que without having to wait till it plays and wish there was a way to indicate some artists I can’t stand so they don’t sneak in amongst my jam! I also wish the app was visible on the lock screen when I’m connected to my system via WiFi the way it is when I’m connected via Bluetooth, why is there a difference on how it functions? A few tweaks by listening to your users and it would be the perfect music app!
Issue with Bluetooth Performance
by minceem on 2020/11/19 19:10
So overall the app works quite well, but there is a small bug when trying to play over Bluetooth or with Apple CarPlay. When selecting a song, the song title and artist shows, but the album doesn’t come up. The album title only displays if you change to the next song. Also, if you decide to start a song over, the song length will not reset, so if you start a 4 minute song over at the 3 minute mark, the clock will continue rolling, so you could be displaying 6 minutes of song time for a 4-minute song. These are obviously not issues affecting playback, but it’s enough for my OCD-self to notice. Should be an easy enough fix to implement.
Fix the playlist shuffling
by Jehjdjdlskbmaskjsjs on 2019/07/11 08:43
I have a playlist that I workout to which has like 400 songs on it but every time I hit shuffle it plays the same songs every time I hit the shuffle button on the playlist so it’s not truly shuffling the songs and it gets pretty repetitive, fix the shuffling system to where it shuffles everything from my playlist so I’m not listening to the same songs every time I go to turn on the playlist. Like if I put a song on there today and there’s a song I put on there two years ago I want the same probability that it might land on a song I haven’t heard in a long time. The whole principle of shuffling is to be truly random and I don’t feel like I’m getting that.
barely usable on iphone 8 running latest OS
by digitaldelete on 2020/08/27 22:43
this is the only music service i use but it’s honestly a shame at how bad it is. on my iphone 8 it is just miserably slow. if i want to hit next song, i’ll go and open the app and it’s still on the screen from 5 songs ago. i have to then wait for it to load to hit next. also you’ll get to use the media buttons on the lock screen like 20 percent of the time. same thing is you swipe up, good luck using media buttons to pause already playing music. lastly i absolutely hate its integration with my google home. again you’re stuck with the slowness of the app to get next or pause. now it’s even worse, if i want to change the playlist from my phone, i’ll go ahead and open the app which pauses the music...just from opening the app. the only fix is to hard close the app, reopen and reconnect to the home.
Downloaded songs...?
by 5-6-7-8-Nyna on 2019/11/02 01:26
Ever since this update 2 days ago, my downloaded songs have disappeared. I can access the full albums I’ve downloaded, but the dozens and dozens of random songs I had downloaded that were in they’re own little “downloaded songs” album/playlist/whatever are gone. I can access my liked songs, but those are different, I didn’t thumbs up every song I downloaded and vice versus. I want my album/playlist of downloaded songs back! Sometimes I want a mix of stuff, besides the offline playlist of 20 songs that the app has put together for me. I love this app. the $ I pay for the amount of music I can access and download is awesome...but I want to be able to download everything I’ve downloaded again! Please!
So much buffering
by Littlezeekers on 2019/05/18 16:45
I mostly listen to music while I’m working in the morning, I like to use the app because it does help discover music I would potentially like. My main issue with the app is every time I take out an AirPod to interact with another person it pauses my music and almost never picks back up. It try’s to buffer back where I was but I usually have to start the song over or just skip it. It’s rather annoying especially when it’s a podcast or a longer music playlist. Just seems like a big flaw that it can’t pick up where I left off, especially when I usually put my AirPod back in within a minute or two of taking it out. The only other issue is it plays a lot of repeat songs, mostly they’re songs that I’ve liked but I don’t discover new music by listening to the same stuff..
Fix this
by Luke¡ on 2019/06/15 04:48
I love this app I have been using it for over a year now as my main music streaming app. It has been flawless in my mind ever since they made the update to download playlists offline. That is, until recently. Recently, about every fifth song that plays, wether it be from one of my playlists or a search, doesn’t load. This is extremely frustrating when I have to skip all of these songs which will never load and just skip constantly. It turns a 100 song playlist into only 30 minutes of actual music streaming. Please fix this bug it has ruined the app for me and stops me from listening to a select portion of all of my playlists.
In love with this. Wish it wasn’t so $$$ tho.
by PORN STAR SWEETS on 2020/03/18 23:42
I absolutely LOVE this! No ads, Thank yoooou! Having everything at your finger tips and also it gives amazing finds and even ones you forgot about & hen will show you whole entire playlist. You want baby making music or old school rock ballads then you’re all set for hours with a playlist made, Or make your own! I have tons of playlists already. Plus you subscribed to the artist. ONLY thing I don’t like is the price. But it’s really not a lot when you think about how much time you save and being able to take with you on your cell with unlimited space!!
Issue
by ~I_Don't_Know~ on 2020/05/11 16:48
Okay, Idk how long I’ve used this app but I have for a little bit, and the only two issues are that, when I’m trying to add music to a new playlist sometimes I would make the playlist before hand, knowing I needed to add music to it. But I usually need to make a new one when I click add to playlist, because the one made before doesn’t show up on my list of playlists. Honestly it’s not that big of a deal but today I was trying to add music to a playlist but the playlist didn’t show up at all, no matter how many times I made it before I chose the song or when I made a new playlist after I chose the song and clicked add to playlist. Those are really the two main things but the first ones not that big of a deal.
I really want to love this app, but...
by Sire2K on 2020/06/19 17:10
I really want to love this app, but the bugs it contains drive me crazy enough not to make the switch from Google Play Music (which isn't without it's flaws, such as selecting genres in the new releases) which offers a better UX. One problem that shouldn't go without being mentioned is the fact that after ending an incoming call that caused the music to pause the music won't resume; in fact, it won't even allow the user to continue where s/he left off. Instead, the user will have to find the playlist/album again and remember what track was playing to resume. I hope this review doesn't fall on deaf ears (yes Google Devs, I'm speaking to you), as I fear that this might just be another of those projects that Google eventually drops instead of fixing.
Overall, a great platform
by Maxwell Darwin on 2020/10/26 06:27
I really enjoy the selection of Music available. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the user interface can be a little confusing at times. No ability to shuffle or repeat while on a track and while using Apple CarPlay, no ability to like a track, which means if I want to remember a track for later, I have to look down at my phone. Actually less helpful than just putting a like button on the track image on Apple CarPlay. I also don’t always like the auto playlist selection. It seems the algorithm could use some work because it has a hard time matching the mood of my initial playlist or song(s).
It's getting worse
by Angry girlszzzzzzzzzz on 2018/06/15 15:28
They are slowly making this app worse. First they took away the slider that added or took away variety and now it seems like they are just trying to shove new music down my throat. I DONT WANT TO LISTEN TO THOSE SONGS. I also really enjoyed the "rediscover music you loved" tab because it was cool to see what I had listened to a year ago but in the new update they took that out for some reason. Also I used to be able to see other versions of songs and songs that were similar to that song by going into more info about it but they took that out too. That feature was pretty much the reason why I kept this app even after they got rid of other features. This app gets more boring, simple, and frustrating with every update. They should have just kept it the way it was when they first put it out. It was better that way.
GLITCHY and CONFUSING as heck
by Johns59 on 2020/11/07 14:09
I wouldn't be very upset about how they are getting rid of Google Play Music if this app wasn't so crappy of a replacement. It is super glitchy, freezes way too often, doesn't let me download many things that were downloadable on Google Play Music, and it still hasn't downloaded the playlists that for which I initiated the downloads weeks ago...I mean come on! Google certainly has the resources to make this app so much better, so since it is hopeless that they will change their minds on getting rid of Google Play Music (which I heavily endorsed for the years that I used it and spent hours upon hours building up my library etc, and have been the DJ at work and many gatherings personal and professional), PLEASE GET THIS APP FULLY FUNCTIONAL related to my complaints above!!!!!!!
Developers read ⭐️ 🌟
by DudefuseTIB on 2020/07/07 18:53
Good app. I’m trying two switch from Google Play music but I’ve had to use a third-party method to switch over from it. You need to add your own way to transfer, likes songs, and more data about the user. Another problem is that you do not have every song available on there that you did on G p.m. This is making it very difficult for people who have bought song is that they cannot move over to or other reasons. I do like the app because of its learning algorithms for my type of music. another thing you need to think about is Apple Watch app support. Many people of Apple watches and make this service a real service it would need to have an app for me to listen to my music downloaded on the watch. This would be appreciated as well.
Could have been better..
by Amend90 on 2020/03/09 19:27
Overall the first week of having this app was amazing the best music experience I will have in a long time. Now I use it and I have to pat for it to be in my pocket turned off. I can’t even open other apps without having it cost a paywall from this app. I get it that you would need more cash as the app is free and that’s good but when you have an advertisement every before and after a song is it really necessary? Know I sound like a major Karen but I’m trying to be honest won’t get the fun I had listening to music again.. The reason I’m giving it three stars is because I don’t have that much passion for this app although I enjoyed the time I had with it even if I can’t get it anymore..
A second generation failure.
by JClinkers on 2020/09/08 07:14
In the beginning you could use Google Play music with your phone locked. Just like any other music app the free version includes advertisements. That part makes sense and a palatable experience overall. As they revamped THAT app and changed all of that (including getting rid of mood based music selections) it got to be a worse and worse experience. When this app came i’d hoped that they’d change their minds on the worse parts of the previous experience but alas here we are. The no screen lock thing is an abysmal way to bully people into a paid subscription and otherwise makes the app unusable and you all know that. That is why you failed in the first place. Before the changes GP Music was my preferred music app. This is why people have defected and will continue to stay away from this app.
Needs improvements
by herom99 on 2019/09/14 14:15
I would like to use this app 100% of the time instead of Google Play Music, however, there are certain things I don’t like. 1) when using my AirPods, I can double tap to pause, but when I double tap to resume—it doesn’t work! I need to go directly into the app and hit play. Hitting play on the lock screen won’t work, either, as it just keeps spinning. It forces me to go directly into the app and start the song from the beginning. 2) it’s cool that you can get both audio and videos on the same app. But it’s weird when the app plays the audio of the video version. You could be listening to a song (video) with long pauses that only make sense when you’re watching a video.

I never ever write reviews, but I want this app to work so well that I am writing this in hopes these adjustments are made.

by RedhouseClan on 2020/12/01 15:36
I was a Google Play customer for years, made playlists with thousands of songs, I took pride in my playlists.

Come on guys..
by JOSH_O15 on 2020/12/01 06:36

Not worth it

Best YouTube sound playlist 🤟
by xlucy91 on 2020/11/28 20:31
YouTube music is my everything.
Greed will be your downfall!

i want to love this app, it’s nice to use just to listen to music, however today i went on to discover all of my downloads had just disappeared for no reason, i wish they could fix some pretty common bugs and it’s a bit glitchy for what i’m paying
One issue
by eddieelgordo on 2020/11/28 16:58

No Lock Screen controls
by Yettavr6 on 2020/11/28 13:42
No Lock Screen controls when casting, makes the app sort of useless. I’ve had to switch exclusively to Spotify since I switched to iPhone from Android for this reason so will probably just cancel my YTM subscription altogether now.

by Rickafire on 2020/11/28 06:09
I’ve used YouTube music as my primary way to listen to music for ~4 years and it has some major flaws: If you listen to >500 songs the recommended songs will all be songs you already have liked.

Major Step Down From Google Play

by Jtelle$22 on 2020/11/28 04:22
I love this app, it’s way better than any other music app. But it’s really missing an equalizer. It’s such a must when it comes to audio. I know Android users have this ability. I just want to know why iOS haven’t had the ability to implement this into this app. It would definitely make things better than they already. Love the app, this one small change can be a game changer.

Irritating experience if you are a free user. Ads galore and doesn’t play music in the background so forget about using it in the car, you will go nuts and ram into someone either out of frustration or trying to mess with the clunky UX. Google is letting this user-base roll downhill.

TKS
Seems Legit
by i55rex on 2018/07/23 01:08
Been using YT Music for about a month now and I’m pleased 100% so far!
