Pretty good app but
by AugustCruz on 2020/10/20 02:14
Pretty good app overall I feel like it kinda lacks a lot of potential features, like the ability to copy and paste bars for choruses and etc
Great App!
by Himothy Havin on 2020/10/18 05:42
I love this app because ut allows me to create reference tracks for myself. You can use it place anytime, create your song, then record it at a professional studio. I only have one complaint. When I use all my vocal tracks and want to merge them I have to export them. Then when I want to reimport the merged track, I can't import the instrumental i was using. Other than that the app is solid.
Easy and simple
by Baieo1978 on 2020/10/18 04:46
I use this whenever I feel a creative flow. I open the app, set my phone somewhere around me, hit record, then start riffing. It’s great for listening back to jam sessions or simply ranting about ideas. It’s not just for musicians
Broken with 2.37.0
by adhocmaster on 2020/10/16 16:26
Doesn’t record more than 5 seconds of a track anymore.
I love my Spire Studio, be a few things..
by StevenX3o on 2020/10/10 23:00
I use my spire studio app and spire studio on a daily basis. I love all the features, especially the pedal and vocal effects. Editing and mixing is yes simple and easy and the automatic sound check to set levels makes everything run smoothly. BUT I would love more vocal effects, Monster Voice, and Encore are my two favorite actually. But MORE VOCALS EFFECTS PLEASE, maybe some type of auto tune section could be implemented as well? I know a lot of artists in my area that use spire studio as well and they are mostly rap and R&B artists and have always said the only thing this misses is auto tune. Just a thought! 🤘
The best!!!!
by Blbyt on 2020/10/08 20:15
This is literally the best app you could ever download! I love it! There is literally nothing wrong with it in my opinion. And I am being completely honest, this is the best app I have on all of my Apple devices
IRig2 Compatible??
by ikomiko on 2020/10/05 14:38
Overall, I really like Spire. But it appears that to input your tracks you are dependent on using the iPhone/iPad microphone. I can use iRig 2 using Garage Band, so I know that iRig IS Compatible with iPhone/iPad. Furthermore, I CAN’T export a Spire project to Garage Band. So when I have a Spire project, a workaround would be to export the Spire project to Garage Band, then use iRig 2 to add additional tracks. Do you have a solution, or should I just abandon Spire, learn Garage Band, and start from scratch 😓.
Amazing amazing AMAZING

I cannot say how truly amazing this has proved itself to be especially during the pandemic
Good, but not totally accessible for blind users
by 😝Keenan414 on 2020/10/03 02:50
I am a blind user. I purchased the Spire Studio on a recommendation. After the initial trouble of syncing the recorder with the app without being able to see the blinking lights to perform the operation, I have finally been able to use it. The sound I get with my guitar is amazing. The app could use some fine tuning for accessibility... not all parts are clearly labeled, and I am able to mix different tracks, sort of. But still trying to figure it out. Apparently there’s no manual. If a little more work were to be put in to make the app more blind user friendly, and some instructions to go with it, that would be wonderful and I would revise my 4 to a 5. If you are blind or V.I., be ready to put in some time with trial and error, and don’t use any important files until you have a grasp on the platform, or if you have backups.

I’m already starting to get frustrated!!! I literally just downloaded this app, and for someone that’s never used an app such as this for recording music before, this app doesn’t make it easy for a beginner to learn themselves on at all!!! The importing button is just NOT WORKING AT ALL when I try to import my instrumentals from my Apple Music app on my iPhone, onto the spire app, once I select the song from my library, it just goes back to the spire app, and doesn’t do ANYTHING AT ALL, I’ve tried it over 3 dozen times and NOTHING HAPPENS! It is incredibly frustrating!!! I’ve even referred to the app-help section and followed those links to no avail!!! It is truly hopeless!!! I really wanted to love this app, because it truly could’ve been something great, but alas, it’s just another unfortunate wannabe imitation. 😞😞😞😞😞
Innovative, with room for improvement
by blueswanderer on 2020/09/19 22:45
The Spire hardware + iOS app is a pioneering combination of hardware and software, but it has some frustrating limitations. Bulk transfer of projects from the Spire Studio -> iOS device is sorely missing, so backing up projects is a chore that involves tapping each one and waiting for it to transfer before moving on to the next. And if you are hoping to use your recorded audio files in a DAW, there is no way to access your files directly via the native iOS Files app (which is also integrated with MacOS) — instead you need to open each project individually within the Spire app and export the raw audio files from there. I currently have over 100 Spire projects and the audio feels “locked in” because exporting the audio from each project is so cumbersome. It would take me hours just to get the raw audio files onto my laptop. Also, the amps/effects for guitar are underwhelming and generally sound thin. A $40 AmPlug 2 from Vox sounds much better. Still: this is a unique and compelling device that does some things, like quickly tracking vocals and raw guitar takes, very well. It is great being able to start recording on the Spire Studio within ~30 seconds (including soundcheck) without having to look at a screen. I hope iZotope continues to invest in it.

How do I get different effects?
OK
by goldcoastjon on 2020/08/27 19:56
Spire works ok but could use much better documentation and easier, more transparent in-app navigation/directions. It takes a while to intuit how to use it even after reading the instructions, which came separately.
Amazing app!

Great app for on the go musicians
by Super Silly Gorilla on 2020/08/24 15:43
This is a great app for demoing songs, I’ve used similar apps and they don’t compare. I don’t have the hardware but using it straight through my iPhone already sounds amazing, I can imagine how great it would be with the hardware. Just wondering how I can retrieve my old recordings from an old phone, anyone??
great! (feature requests)
by GlowRec on 2020/08/23 04:42
1) solo! (in addition to mute) 2) track labels!! pretty please. (not just 7 icons) 3) some basic time line editing. volume, eq? easy to use fun simple stays out of the way , just works- solid app very limited features (a good thing?)
The best little heartbreaker you’ll ever have.
by theultimatepeen on 2020/08/23 02:53
I was inspired to write this review after the spire app just deleted a couple hours of work I put in. I went back into the project and it told me “spire couldn’t find some of the tracks”. I went into it and only half of them were there. And immediately started swearing profanities at the top of my lungs. That made me so upset and angry, not only will I have to redo the tracks and also do the prep work before I redo them but I will have to cross my fingers and worry every time I do anything in the app. That being said, this thing is kinda revolutionary and I’m still grateful for it. It just causes immense stress sometimes. I like the updates coming out so far, adding notes for lyrics in it was super useful so you don’t have to do anything extra to have lyrics handy. I think it still needs a lot of features in the near future though... such as not losing your tracks randomly on accident sometimes when going back into a song/project file. Also adding another >8 tracks would be awesome, in case you need more vocal layers and don’t want to bounce tracks out of Spire somewhere else, delete spire tracks, and then sing again. It is incredibly easy to accidentally record over the wrong track in spire, not catch it, since there is only 1 undo/ redo allowed, and then have to redo more than one track because of a simple mistake. Using effects temporarily and then getting rid of them when bouncing the tracks into another DAW would also be great. I started recording dry because the effects, while nice, are baked into the audio upon recording the track; which makes them permanent. Having optional 44.1 kHz sample rate in addition to 48 kHz would be ideal too. I’ve run into complications in converting projects outside of Spire because spire only uses 48... and I forgot to make changes when I’m using my DAW outside of Spire (me forgetting that in the beginning of the project means I get to rerecord all of my audio tracks in my DAW later to accommodate for the 48 kHz Spire exclusively works in). If there is a way to use Spire Studio hardware as a “true audio interface” too that would make it even more invaluable. I’d like to see it be able to connect and communicate with other DAWs like logicproX, or fl studio for example, which would make recording vocals, guitar or any audio ultra convenient, as DAWs usually have the best editing tools... basically no longer needing to buys a separate interface or mic to connect to your Pc/Mac to get better access to those much needed editing tools. Yes there is basic editing w/ spire studio sort of. But nothing subtle and surgical like in daws (ie comping takes!). Either way this thing is brilliant, however with these type of updates, I think that would remove a lot of heart ache, save loads of time, increase value, and add leagues to its current level of convenience. Thanks Spire!
8 Tracks
by fastmoneykk on 2020/08/19 18:59
I have a suggestion that may improve this app. Why not add a paid subscription service where it allows creatives to use more than 8 tracks? I’d pay for that service. No doubt.
Excellent app!!
by LittleZ01🏀🎧 on 2020/08/15 03:48
I love the fact that you can use your phone mic instead of headphone mic for better sound quality. On the flipside I hate that there is not more mixing options.
Has Made rehearsals and song writing a breeze
by La Hora De Lobos on 2020/08/14 05:22
Spire Studio has made my band's rehearsals and song writing process a breeze... Especially during these quarantine/Lockdowns we have here. the fact that we can record our ideas and send the to each other to work with is grand. My one request for the developers is to include more pedal/effects for heavy metal bands and singers.\m/ Like a harmonizer for guitars and vocals. keep up the the good work and stay heavy\m/

Fun, easy to use, but sad...
by jgkfdhihfwugdgkvcduh on 2020/08/12 19:06
Everything about this app is amazing. The souls is great and it’s super easy to use. The only problem I’ve run into is creating harmonized parts or overdoubs. I’ll play something in parts so that there’s depth to my song. And every time I try to to add to parts to play at the same time, in the Dane timing... the part that I add is delayed by about a sec. and it totally screws the song up. I don’t know why this is happening if I just need to reset things or something. But other than the delayed track problem this app is great!
Headphone mic
by quadonkdonk on 2020/08/11 21:13
It’s good but the setting to not use the phone mic doesn’t work if you want to use a Bluetooth mic on iOS.
So limited
by pikopoku on 2020/08/11 20:53
So, I import a guitar track. Then I want to import a tracks with vocals that I created using another app with voice filters...but you can’t import more than one track? Why? Maybe this app is a great accessory to their hardware sold separately but, by itself, it’s pretty worthless to create music unless you are recording everything within the app itself but nowadays integration with other apps and formats is indispensable for a musician on the go.
Ehh
by Quale man on 2020/08/10 15:06
It’s cool if u want to just remember some stuff u forgot but actually recording, terrible . Feedback is loud, makes the beat faster and your lyrics will be off. Want to keep adding recordings to the song the song would just get louder and overlap your voice. Not enough editing as well. Wouldn’t recommend for artists sorry. You can just honestly play around with it if you want
Question
by operation remove life360 on 2020/08/09 18:27
Can you import a beat from your camera roll
Need a Mobile Voice filter
by MusicXPro on 2020/08/09 02:52

almost there
by Yo177 on 2020/08/07 22:15
Hello, just wanted to say that this app has some potential. However, there are a few things that I have to suggest. The first one is that I would like some more things to do with your vocal tracks such as echo or reverb. Whenever I record my freestyles to a beat I find my vocals to be very dull and does not sound that good. There are other free apps that sound a little better than this one. The second idea is voiceover support. I have low vision and some parts of the app don’t work such as track editing. It would be cool if you could fix some of those problems. Other than that, that’s all I have. Keep up the good work.

by MrGunder on 2020/07/26 20:56
I need a notebook on the go, not a studio. This WAS exactly what i needed, but now it’s getting bogged down and increasingly inefficient, and the inspiration-to-recording-on-the-fly purpose of the app is soon to lose me as a fan if they continue to forget what they are

It’s nice..... a rapper can use it be it’s not really made for a rapper in my opinion an Ima artist an a producer I can’t really produce my music like I would on any pro tool. In a way this is a pro tool so why can’t I edit cut the beat move things around if im doing everything my self you give us the product but NOT the toolS to do the job but it’s nice.. the mic is on 100 very nice crystal clear. I love this app. I use it with the spire hardware. I’ve recorded multiple covers and og songs and it never ceases to amaze me. I have just one request and it isn’t very important. I wish that it would add clarity to a ukulele, idrc if it gets added, it would just be nice to have it. Just my two cents. Overall it’s an amazing app with so many features. Definitely helping me get a head start on music.😁

by feather797 on 2020/07/20 21:30
I use this app so much but my phone auto updated the newest version and the metronome usability dive bombed. Usually you can turn on the metronome and hit record and you hear the metronome before you start recording. Now... it’s not there... but it appears IN MY TRACKS!!! I can’t hear it when I record but I can hear it in my tracks.. not lining up with the music. This is a major update flaw. Please fix this or your app is unusable.
Love this app but..
by updateinappdarkmode on 2020/07/20 01:25
The app works great and really helps me jot down quick musical ideas. The only thing I dislike is that I’m not able to drag around the audio clips to sync them together. With my device there’s usually a delay in the tracks when I record so I’m forced to re-record many times just to get the timing right. Would be much better if this feature was added.
Cool but leaves something missing
by Jkid1000 on 2020/07/16 14:48
The app and Spire Studio is great but there’s little things that I wish we could do that seem simple. Something like copy a specific section and be able to paste it. That way ppl Don’t have to re-record hooks , etc. I think they’ve done great with the notes section and UI but little features are missing that I think would make recording better.

by TPLRAY on 2020/07/15 05:41
I’m recording on my 7 plus through headphone and so far so good I’ve been listening to some of my tracks and as I perfect them, the only reason why I didn’t give it a 5 is because it doesn’t give much option with ... like editing the vocals or the selected recording. Other than that I love how you can send it to email or text it’s a great way to save work if you’re getting a new device . Always remember background noise and environments matter.. if you can’t do a closet use an area where noise can be boxed in a tighter space or where your voice or instruments can bounce back to the mic (helps cancels out an echo)

We have PreSonus Studio 5 Professional and it’s way too much studio for our needs. Got our Spire yesterday and started in today. In less than an hour we had composed and recorded an instrumental track. Imported the drums from PreSonus then recorded rhythm, lead, bass guitar and organ parts. Plugged all the instruments straight in and used the provided amps. Mixing was so easy the cat could have done then shared it with our band members and on social media. Had a listen and even on a phone the sound really sparkles. All I can add is get one, you won’t be disappointed.

It is mostly what I wanted Audio Evolution to be. My only cons are that it’s limited on what you can do with moving tracks, adding vocal FX, and it’s 8 track limit. The last part hurts the most but the quality is second to none. I recorded a full song and everyone tells me it sounds professional. Thanks guys. Hope this improves even more soon.
Sound is not good.

This app is amazing!
by $talgia on 2020/06/28 00:29
I’ll start off by saying this app has room for improvement however it’s way more complex than you might think. It’s basic for converting vocals or an instrument directly to your daw after recording. It’s also great for storing ideas before recording it in the studio. The audio quality is also magnificent (based on your device) I’m currently on the IPhone 7 and the mic without any major adjustments in the mic with the software sounds almost professional if you know about production or audio engineering. 5 stars because it’s so well put together but personally I’d say 4.5 because I really don’t know if I can drag my tracks.

by Rawlivic on 2020/06/20 12:19
I own a the spire recording device and have the app installed. I use an external mic plugged into the isotope spire and record into spire and mix onto another daw on my phone. Now I like the spire, don’t get me wrong. However I also have an audio interface that works with any daw I plug it into and I can get straight to mixing without having to import files. Now I love what the spire can do, the quality that the vocals can display are great but because I can only record into the spire daw with my spire device I find myself not using it anymore. Now if I could use the izotope spire in any daw, that would be amazing... maybe even making spire and the spire device have audio unit extension capabilities. There are updates that should and probably could happen... but auv3 spire through cubasis? That would most definitely be the best! Hopefully something like that happens and I can use my izotope spire again.

by isaiahgsmith on 2020/06/14 19:05
Love the app, just wish you’d bring back the visual metronome. It’s easier to keep track when the monitors are cranked.
Needs to have better looping functionality
by DCG627 on 2020/06/12 21:19
The Trim/Crop tool functionality is illogical. You should be able to select the section you want to keep, and have it crop out before and after that section - not selecting the section it deletes.

Loop parts of a track
by YourLocalTherapist on 2020/06/10 04:34
Having the option to loop a part of a track is sorely needed. I own the hardware and it works well, but the app is fairly limiting.

For those trying to make Music Anywhere
by Vanessa Gonzalez Howdage on 2020/06/05 19:21
This is truly an amazing app. I don’t usually write reviews but Spire has really helped me create and build my sound over the past few Months and it’s free! The interface is simple and does its job perfectly, you have ever tool to make any genre of music (Mine is Trap) There really isn’t another app that has this ability to record so easily. 5/5
Missing some key elements
by NiceladyMT on 2020/06/03 22:40
It blows my mind that without the actual expensive studio set, you cannot plug in an external mic or even headset mic to record. I can only record through my crappy iPhone microphone itself, which is garbage sound quality and basically renders the app relatively useless for recording music, as the quality is poor and everything sounds muddied no matter what I do. Spire, why don’t you have the option to do this? Literally every other recording app I’ve tried (probably 10-15), when you plug in an external mic or headphones that have a mic, it records via that. Is this to make people buy the studio? If so that’s a low blow. I appreciate many other things about this app and would prefer to use it above the others, but having my iPhone mic be the only option, I can’t use this app for music recording. Am I missing something here? Would love a response from Spire.
Powerful and Simple

App is very easy on the eyes and streamlined for use. I wish it had the option to loop the current tracks, but the option does not seem to be available.

The future is now, and I was pleasantly surprised to be in such good company. Upon boarding the spire spaceship I knew I was heading somewhere truly unique. The creative flow is only enhanced by the ease of use and sonic beauty held within. Nothing but compliments upon uploading my first song. One that was so easily recorded i won’t ever go back! I have been a professional musician for over 40 years and I’m always either jotting ideas on scraps of paper ,writing in my phone or making crap recordings with Memo...the Izotope Spire far exceeded my attempts to get a decent recording of my ideas... it is keeping me good company in these crazy days... can’t thank you enough .. Not very flexible
by Boneswertz on 2020/05/19 21:45
You can not modify effects after you record with them. If you don’t record with effects, you cannot add them after. You can delete unwanted audio but you can not move regions. I can’t believe how much this app lacks. The interface is great but not much use since this is the software that needs to be used.
Great software!
by Jkp269 on 2020/05/19 16:43
I haven’t purchased the spire studio yet, but even just using the software, I have been able to record with excellent quality. Plus it was so easy to export the tracks to my Mac with airdrop. I’m going to use GarageBand to edit them. My favorite feature though is the automatic sound levels. Just play or sing for a few seconds and they are automatically adjusted!

Suggestions
by GQ_Sara on 2020/05/15 14:58
Hardwire is a thing of the past and this app/hardware should work its way toward wireless headphones/ear phones.Currently, it can achieve that to some degree but you will experience horrendous lag when layering your tracks. The audio in headphones do not match to the tracks being recorded. Also, it’s not a pleasant experience when the headphone wire is dangling on or around your instrument and person, which then disrupts each “take”. At least some filters should be built-in to spire app. Room/Vocals entice us to buy the hardware... When recording, Spire immediately assumes after I’ve stopped that I want to jump into a new track. So, when I want to make a second pass, it records a new track and it thwarts my workflow. It’s pretty annoying to say the least. Yes, unless you forcefully click back to the initial track (every time) I think eventually the app “learns” that you don’t want to proceed to a new track but it’s a pretty subpar experience that makes me want to forego this product all-together. Speaking of which, I’d love to be able to take a couple passes on the same track i.e. desktop daw where I have at least two takes to pick from and splice from. 8-tracks are beginning to feel like not enough, could just be me but when I’m trying to fatten up the vocals, there’s only so much one can do with filters especially when you have a full blown rhythm section involved.

Magic demo machine!
by Steef S on 2019/12/02 18:18
As a songwriter, I’ve always wanted a quick and easy way to demo a new song. Most of the time, I’ve just used my iPad to capture it. And if I had the time— I’d fire up Garage Band. If I really wanted to share to a wider audience, I’d work through it on my Protools setup. But now, Spire helps me make a quick and easy demo in my living room that sounds darned close to a studio version. The more I use it, the better I get and the better I sound. It does feel like a magic little box. The mic check dials in the levels, the effects sound nice and clean and above all it takes me minutes— not hours! My biggest wish would be to improve the ability to punch in to fix a guitar clam. It’s close to impossible so I usually try to get a complete and acceptable take before moving on to vocals. Punching in a vocal isn’t hard because there’s usually a dead space that I can come in on. I hope iZotope is still working on this little gem because it would be great to be able to at least add an easy dissolve to smooth a punch in. But hey, I actually couldn’t be happier with this thing.
Amazing.
by MutualMachines on 2018/08/19 12:58
I do best when recording solo. This app has allowed me to do so with exceptional quality and it’s so user friendly. The things I would love to see in the future would be: basic effects. I would love to be able to add some basic reverb or chorus effects to eliminate the need to take up precious track space with multiple vocals. Maybe like 3 effects? That’s all you really need. Also, I’ve seen in other recording software a “solo” option meaning I can isolate one track to listen to to find that one later I want to delete without having to individually muting a bunch of tracks to find the one I want to delete. I see you’ve put the option to add an icon to tracks to help distinguish what instrument is featured on each track but that’s not enough when it comes to layering vocals etc. soloing a track would be much quicker. Anyways, great app and great quality! Thanks!
Just Missing a few things
by Tymebombproductions on 2018/12/06 21:07
Really love this device and what it can do. However there are two main things i would like to see on the app side of things. 1st is the ability to mix tracks down to a single track like you could do on the old 4/8 tracks and then have another 7 tracks to keep adding with. 2nd is some level of post production, I understand the device is aimed at musicians who want to cut thru all the hang ups of traditional recording etc but you guys really have something here that could be much more than that. Im not saying to go crazy but maybe a 4 band eq for starters and then add some basic easy stuff that others have mentioned. Again not looking for pro tools just some tools to tweak and shape the sound a little more. Add it as an upgrade pack in app purchase or whatever i would definitely be interested in something like that keep up the good work and looking forward to some future updates
I couldn’t rate 4.5 stars...
by blipersmart on 2018/11/14 07:43
I absolutely love this app, I’ve recorded multiple songs that I fell in love with again after using this mobile studio... that being said I only wish it had one thing, some effects for the tracks. When you buy the spire hardware (the desk top mic with all the bells and whistles) for around $500 then you get cool editing and stuff like that, but would it hurt to put some filters on the mobile app? Like reverb, echo, gain, maybe normalize? Or even a white noise suppressor? I’m not asking for every upgrade that comes with the hardware but at least some small things. If the developer could get back to me on this it would be awesome! Like I said, amazing app, amazing software, and awesome recordings come from this app, talent not included, in case you were wondering, lol
Not too shabby
by Rawlivic on 2020/06/20 12:19
I own a the spire recording device and have the app installed.

Amazing App
by Arhoser on 2020/01/28 21:30
After searching for software to record playing my sax playing with background piano I stumbled onto this. This app is amazing in its simplicity for recording multiple tracks and then sharing the file (project) or tracks. I have been using it on my iPad just with built in microphone. I can simply import a piano score previously saved in my music then play my sax on a separate track along with it. My mind is churning with the possibilities this will make. While the quick short videos may do it for someone who knows the system it doesn’t for someone trying to learn it. I am sold and just ordered the Spire Studio saving tons of money to achieve my goal of a simple studio. Keep it up. You guys Rock in my book!
I don’t recommend this
by Eating cheetos at 3 AM on 2019/10/15 21:45
I’ve used this app for about a month now for recording myself play guitar, but there is one thing that constantly always bothers me. You CANNOT set the starting point in editing/trimming. So, let’s say there’s 10 seconds of unneeded audio in the beginning of the recording; getting your instrument or whatever setup and the music sheet ready, and then you start playing. Well, there is absolutely no way to get rid of that starting 10 seconds of junk. You can’t do it in the trim, because all it does is delete the audio inside that timeframe, so you’ll have 10 starting seconds of silence without any way to get rid of it. Imagine with every movie you watch, each scene starts includes “Alright, everybody ready? Remember your lines? Okay, now action!” That would be a very annoying movie. Just use Voice Memos.
Best Studio App available!
by BigTojo on 2020/02/07 11:51
I’ve used Spire Studio for close to 2 years to do professional recordings that have been used in radio advertisements, tv commercials, and a few industry releases. It has a great built-in Mic with a dope Soundcheck feature to give your recordings great volume without clipping. New vocal effects are amazing. Plus several other effects available. One of the best tools is the Mixing window. It is simple enough for beginners to use, but can deliver the same quality and results the pros put out. Export to other Spire users to collab, export to email, or even upload directly to SoundCloud without any extra work. By far the best Studio app I own. Use it on a daily basis. Get Spire Studio, you won’t be disappointed.
Grateful for Spire
by swarrior7 on 2019/10/11 21:01
I have been a musician for 33 years, and I checked on a whim one day to see if a mobile, multi-tracking app even existed and Spire appeared. I’m so grateful for this app and how quickly I am able to “save” musical ideas and hit record within seconds so that fleeting ideas are not lost forever. I’m writing the best music of my entire life, and Spire is a tremendous reason for that! *If I could improve anything, I would make folders available to group instruments, songs or ideas together to stay more organized and if I go listen to an old recording, I wish it would not take me back to the very top every time.
I wouldn’t recommend buying this device
by Alexorbob on 2019/05/01 11:45
I just tried to record vocals and couldn’t figure out why the mic was picking up so much feedback. I went through the sound check, the direct sound effects( hurt my ear with a high pitch), and even tried to cover the spire to see why but it didn’t go away. So after trying and giving up I realized that the feedback is only heard when I’m charging the spire. So how am I supposed to use this device to record out of the blue of when I need to charge it I get feedback... I’ve had so many issues trying to record because I’m just now realizing that I can’t charge it while I record.. No wonder I can’t get inspired because I’m working with a device that has bugs,.. and in the end I still transfer my recorded song to garage band because this app can’t do what garage band can.. 2Stars because I’m nice like that.
Seriously
by Whitis0311 on 2020/09/22 04:57
I’m already starting to get frustrated!!! 😞😞😞😞😞
Spire is amazing

I’ve had this app for a ling time and haven't used it much until I started exploring it but it has been helping with getting the best audio and a lot of high quality sound for my tracks that I've been making (I’m a musician that plays many instruments. However, the thing I enjoy most is beatboxing and thats what I do most). My interest in this app is exponential and I use this app just about every time I'm making a new routine for beatboxing or other things as well now. Thank you for making this amazing app! It has helped me grow as a musician and not just as a beatboxer. -Ty “AdventBBX” Allen

All I can add is get one, you won’t be disappointed.

by Yo177 on 2020/08/07 22:15
Hello, just wanted to say that this app has some potential.
The best investment you can make.
by Something w/r on 2019/06/07 00:37
I love the Spire Studio! It has helped me develop songs in ways I haven’t been able to before. Having the ability to multi track a song within minutes with virtually zero setup and have it sound studio quality is priceless. I was even able to take demos I created on the Spire Studio and bring them to the recording studio and continue to build the tracks from there. I even did over dubs using the Spire. Saved me a lot of time and money on my last album. I can’t recommend this device enough.
Great tool for songwriters

If you are constantly writing songs and don’t want to interrupt the creative process by sitting in front of a computer, then this is the best solution. It’s incredibly mobile with the rechargeable battery that you can take it anywhere. The built in mic sounds great on instruments and vocals and the interface is so simple and innovative in the way it provides a visual mixing environment. This has improved my productivity enormously vs being stuck behind a desk starting at a computer. Great app and great product.
Latest Update
by Screamin' Scotty on 2019/04/08 23:09
I actually like this device for a number of reasons. Easy to use & designed & manufactured in my area. Latest update must have done something to yield less than desirable results. I had 15 minutes to capture an idea & lost it due to some unknown malfunction. Had everything ready to go & the device connected to iPhone X. Performed sound check & attempted to record but no monitoring or recording took place. Multiple restarts & troubleshooting yield no success. Opted to go with my go to which is iPhone voice memos. Frustrated & disappointed that I lost critical time. I have used voice memos for years & it’s the only thing that does not let me down when I need to capture ideas on the fly. Maybe that’s all I need if Spire can’t deliver on the simplest of tasks. So disappointed in what ever Spire did with my expensive idea recorder.
Spire izotope
by portlink on 2019/08/11 21:06
Overall it’s super simple to use. So far it seems to lack anyway to punch in and out to pull two pieces of a track together which make it difficult. You either have to get a track perfect in one take or try to punch in on the same track to continue the recording which is tough to do. Maybe I just can’t figure out how to do it yet but everything else is really simple so it seems it’s just not an option. For just recording a vocal track, and individual instrument tracks and layering them it’s great, but anything more doesn’t seem doable.
Am i the only one who wants more track editing??
by DavieMustard on 2018/05/20 05:54
This is an amazing and intuitive app, nearly perfect. I can’t seem to find any way to edit my audio! The “trim” feature is very well-designed, but too limited! For example, if i am recording backup vocals but decide i don’t want to use all the vocals i record, there is no way in this app to delete only the sections I don’t want; you can only delete ALL the audio before or after a trim point. I would gladly pay for a version of this app with more robust editing features and audio effects

I’ve had a love hate relationship with 8 track portable recording studios for 20 years. I was blown away by both the sound quality and ease of use. The sound check feature that sets recording levels automatically is genius. I rarely leave reviews but this product is amazing. Right out of the box it made sense, and within minutes I was up and running. Sound quality is gorgeous. Get one!!!

I have been waiting decades for the likes of this device. I can sing my tracking vocal, play guitar, have friend do lead, slap on a harmony or two and maybe even a rhythm track without fussing about levels and gains and whatever else. If you write songs and really want to explore your music in a frustration free environment, order now. I was so impressed I bought one for a friend of mine because I could just not imagine her without it.
Awesomeness!!

This app is pretty amazing. It gave me a way to record songs on my iPhone when I get ideas. I import beats and instrumental tracks into the app and record my vocals. The features like effects and reverb stuff will only be available if you get the Spire device. I need to buy the Spire Studio device because from what I see online, it really does deliver quality like no other. Thanks for an amazing app. Still the best app for this!!! None like it!
Good for what it does
by Moodawg2018 on 2019/01/18 20:41
The sound quality is fantastic. The software is pretty good, but limited. As others have mentioned, there is no way to go back after you record to apply effects. You have to know what sound you want ahead of time for each track which makes it less fun to experiment. The trim feature is also limited in that you can’t trim away a middle portion of a track. Nor can you fade in/out. The effects are also limited. So all in all it’s fun and I’ll keep it, but I will also look into other apps or pc tools.
Too simple to get lost in. Hooray!
by MusicProf1234 on 2020/05/07 17:21
The Spire app and Studio hardware are a game changer for me. I’m a slider sliding, knob hobbling, button bumping menu diver with a diving bell helmet on (usually). But this app makes me stick to the music only. Live performance onto a recording is what this system elicits. I can produce final products in half the time because of the automated imbedded plug ins from sound check to the final export. YES the hardware is worth the money. But even the app standalone is a game changer.
Wow! I never was able to figure out GarageBand, but this is so musical!
by ErikSax on 2019/11/20 10:49
This is a musician’s best friend. It eliminates the need for the DAW! Those confounding GUIs and unmusical workflows have prevented many musicians from recording anything useful for years, since 4-track recorders went out of style. Instead, we were deluged with computer music. With this app, real performing musicians can take the lead, to drive recorded music to a higher, vastly more useful plain of existence.
Awesome Device
by Notyourown on 2019/07/12 02:42
Love everything about it. Only complaint is the output monitoring signal to my headphones while recording lacks quality. Playback is great quality but wish it were so while recording. So I have been not monitoring the initial tracks but playing direct through my studio monitors. Recording more tracks will obviously require the headphones. If you improve the recording monitoring signal, it would be perfect. Thanks
Tools i think should be added
by Skyfire015 on 2018/07/05 15:53
Its a great app, for a beginner in recording and editing like me i will give it a 5 stars but theres some thing i want to point out and hopefully brought up for a better overall experience: -The trimming tool is very limited when you want to remove certain part of a track and keep other parts as it just chops behind the trimming point and after it. -I would also recommend like a cut and paste tool for making recordings easier and more consistent. -And a moving tool, cuz people like me (beginners) often mess up while recording and dont select the right track and get a great take :( So with a tool like that you can just move the take to a desired track. Thats all yall and again great app for a great price😉!
Exactly what I need for composition sketchpad
by chachyphone on 2017/09/25 04:39
I'm a professional audio engineer and composer and I've sampled a lot of apps for the purpose of being able to get a sketch of an idea down quickly while it's in my head without having to be in front of my DAW to record it properly, and this is absolutely perfect. iZotope has proven itself time and again, so it should be no surprise that this app is a killer for its intended purpose. Thanks!
Fiddle and guitar player.
by Matt Shortridge. on 2020/04/04 03:14
So easy and smooth. Perfect app for making quick sketches of your music. Multi tracking has never been this easy and intuitive. I would pay for this app. Works perfectly. I have now added the spire studio and it eclipses my 24 track tascam studio. So seamless and easy, great sounds, versatility. I’d use the tascam for something really complex, but the spire almost all the time. Amazing. Simple.
To Notch Software
by Queej on 2018/10/07 22:34
I’ve been a software developer for 35+ years, and I’ve seen a lot of user interface designs. This is one of the best I’ve come across. It is clean, simple, intuitive and useful. No wasteful extras; just what is needed. Two small things I would add to the next release would include a separate volume for the metronome and some more instrument icons. I hope they keep to the keep-it-simple design philosophy.
Amazing!
by lemonclaws on 2020/07/23 13:51
I love this app.
Just one request
by Waddlesfromgravityfalls on 2020/02/28 03:43
You have to use the spire studio to add effects. I don’t think that’s fair. I am a younger person who can’t afford a really expensive studio. I love this app otherwise but it’s kinda useless without being able to add effect without the studio. Don’t get me wrong it’s not a bad app just please make it so we at least have a few ways to change are voice or anything like that without the spire studio. Thank you, From a person dying for one little thing to Change on this app.😊😜🙃
Absolutely must have for singers who write their own music
by Chan_tal90 on 2017/09/20 21:52
This is probably the second time I've ever actually left a review because I really don't like leaving reviews. This app is amazing, keep trying to update it so that I can compare to the studio apps, but I love this app. Would be cool if it was also a beat maker and you could put some effects on the voice like a doubler ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🔥
by Dboi77 on 2019/12/19 05:45
Had it for a year now and find the upgrades to be very useful. As a artist I find it very nice that I can take my time and not spend lots of money at a studio that may not really want to put in the work to make you sound like you want . I’m still learning so it’s a nice machine to help those who aren’t that musically inclined. Personally it was a dream come true for me keep up the good work ppl. PS can we get a way to duplicate or auto tune just asking for a friend.
Mic doesn’t work
by kamalex2000 on 2019/12/27 11:58
Bought the spire hardware unit. So excited to use it. Of course the paperwork (or lack thereof) states you’ll be recording in under a minute. It took 4 minutes to download an update before I could even pair it to my phone at all. Then to my disappointment the mic on the unit doesn’t work. It doesn’t pick up sound at all. I decided to plug an external mic in and my guitar in and use it that way. Still nothing. After 2 days of you tube videos and customer service calls I’m sending it back. I’m hoping to buy another unit and pray it works. The concept seems amazing, but for now sadly disheartened.
App is crashing with new update!
by Brandon Aqua on 2020/03/04 09:22
Will revise to 5 stars once again once under control. App crashes one minute or so into recording on iPad Pro 11. Haven’t tested on other devices. Uninstalled and reinstalled. I can only have it as the present on screen app no running in the background while I look at lyrics on the notes app. Please fix fast. I love and rely on this app!
Record at light speed ✨⚡️✨
by The Chumley on 2018/09/20 02:53
Only have Spire Studio for two days. I must say it’s very impressive and a different take then traditional recording. While I miss my DAWs, it’s very organic and in your face/moment when recording using spires effects. This is just the beginning of Spire Studio and it’s a lot of fun and getting professional results. Looking forward to the future and new updates!
Thank you
by Cjh81812 on 2020/04/29 01:28
Thank you for creating a product literally anyone can use. I have had my spire studio for about 3 years and only just started using it thinking that I was going to have a huge learning curve, but that’s not the case. This literally puts making music into the hands of people like me who have no clue about the tech side. It’s a gift!
Cool app.
by Luc_Alberts on 2018/05/31 17:09
I’ve had a lot of luck since downloading this app last summer. The mixing box is unique and easy to manipulate and the overall format of the app is easy to use and create/record with. My only real complaint is not being able to use other apps with it like Audiobus or the amp modeling/effect processing apps I have. That aside, it’s my go to for recording now.

This is literally the best app you could ever download! I love it! There is literally nothing wrong with it in my opinion. And I am being completely honest, this is the best app I have on all of my Apple devices

Question

Hello, just wanted to say that this app has some potential. However, there are a few things that I have to suggest. The first one is that I would like some more things to do with your vocal tracks such as echo or reverb. Whenever I record my freestyles to a beat I find my vocals to be very dull and does not sound that good. There are other free apps that sound a little better than this one. The second idea is voiceover support. I have low vision and some parts of the app don’t work such as track editing. It would be cool if you could fix some of those problems. Other than that, that’s all I have. Keep up the good work.

All I can add is get one, you won’t be disappointed.

by Avri International Pictures on 2020/07/05 19:55
It is mostly what I wanted Audio Evolution to be.

Needs to have better looping functionality
by DCG627 on 2020/06/12 21:19
The Trim/Crop tool functionality is illogical. You should be able to select the section you want to keep, and have it crop out before and after that section - not selecting the section it deletes.

Would love a response from Spire.

by Boneswertz on 2020/05/19 21:45
You can not modify effects after you record with them.

Amazing App
by Arhoser on 2020/01/28 21:30
After searching for software to record playing my sax playing with background piano I stumbled onto this.

Seriously

This little device is a game changer

We have PreSonus Studio 5 Professional and it’s way too much studio for our needs. Got our Spire yesterday and started in today. In less than an hour we had composed and recorded an instrumental track. Imported the drums from PreSonus then recorded rhythm, lead, bass guitar and organ parts. Plugged all the instruments straight in and used the provided amps. Mixing was so easy the cat could have done then shared it with our band members and on social media. Had a listen and even on a phone the sound really sparkles. All I can add is get one, you won’t be disappointed.
almost there

Hello, just wanted to say that this app has some potential. However, there are a few things that I have to suggest. The first one is that I would like some more things to do with your vocal tracks such as echo or reverb. Whenever I record my freestyles to a beat I find my vocals to be very dull and does not sound that good. There are other free apps that sound a little better than this one. The second idea is voiceover support. I have low vision and some parts of the app don’t work such as track editing. It would be cool if you could fix some of those problems. Other than that, that’s all I have. Keep up the good work.
The best investment you can make.

Great tool for songwriters
by Entatty on 2020/01/23 23:18
If you are constantly writing songs and don’t want to interrupt the creative process by sitting in front of a computer, then this is the best solution.
Love this item
by Js22445 on 2018/12/05 03:47
I’ve had a love hate relationship with 8 track portable recording studios for 20 years. I was blown away by both the sound quality and ease of use. The sound check feature that sets recording levels automatically is genius. I rarely leave reviews but this product is amazing. Right out of the box it made sense, and within minutes I was up and running. Sound quality is gorgeous. Get one!!!
Songwriters Delight
by Fabdogs on 2018/08/05 21:25
I have been waiting decades for the likes of this device.
Awesomeness!!
by trilogyfx on 2019/08/02 02:00
This app is pretty amazing.
Thanks!
For those trying to make Music Anywhere

This is truly an amazing app. I don’t usually write reviews but Spire has really helped me create and build my sound over the past few Months and it’s free! The interface is simple and does its job perfectly, you have ever tool to make any genre of music (Mine is Trap) There really isn’t another app that has this ability to record so easily. 5/5

Amazing. Simple.
Thank you
by Cjh81812 on 2020/04/29 01:28
Thank you for creating a product literally anyone can use.
