Mahjong 13 tiles
説明文
real mahjong game, world series of mahjong, international mahjong.Top rated majhong game in china so far. There is a Detailed instruction in game, you can learn to play Mahjong even if you never heard of it before. Special auxiliary functions can also assist you to play this game. It's really awesome, download and enjoy it now !!! Mahjong is a game that entails four players. At the start of the game, a player is the dealer. The meaning of the dealer lies in that he can have 14 tiles, while other players can only have 13 ones. The game is over after each of the four players has acted as the dealer in turn for four times. The purpose of Mahjong is to gather together four sequences or triplets with 14 tiles, plus a couple of pairs (few special points are not composed of sequences and triplets, see the introduction about points below). Each sequence or triplet is composed of three tiles, while the pair of two same tiles. The so-called sequence consists of three tiles of consecutive numbers, such as Character Three, Character Four and Character Five, while the so-called triplet of three same tiles. The one that first gathers together four sequences or triplets and a couple of pairs (or special points) wins. The other three must give the winner money in different amounts according to points. At the start of the game, the dealer discards the most useless tile, while all other three players are entitled to have the discarded tile. The dealer’s opponent on the right (player on the right) has the right to chow, pong or kong that tile, while the other two players can only pong or kong it. To chow means that if you want to gather together a sequence, and you already have two tiles of the sequence, for example, you already have Bamboo Four and Bamboo Five, while your opponent on the left happens to discard Bamboo Three, you can chow it to gather together a sequence. To pong means that if you want to gather together a triplet, and you already have two tiles of the triplet, for instance, you have had two tiles of Dot Nine, you can pong if anyone discards Dot Nine. To kong means that if you already have a closed triplet, say, you already have three tiles of Character Five, you can kong if anyone discards Character Five. If the players want to chow, pong and kong at the same time, the one wanting to pong or kong has the priority. Anyone that chows, pongs or kongs must expose the tiles chowed, ponged or konged without making any change. If one discards a tile, but nobody chows, pongs or kongs, the opponent on the right can withdraw a tile from the stack, which is called drawing. There is another situation of kong:if you have an triplet(exposed or closed), say, you already have three tiles of Dragon Green but you draw a tile of Dragon Green when drawing, you can also kong. The player konging tiles must withdraw a tile from the end of the stack. Of course, no matter whether you chow, pong or draw, you must discard a tile after the action to maintain 13 tiles. After the tiles in your hand are all useful and you only need the fourteenth one to win, and now you are in the stage of ready hand. For example, you have gathered together three sequences, a triplet and a tile of East Wind, you can declare a win if anyone discards or you self-draw a tile of East Wind (you have to gather together special tiles in case of winning special points). In many cases, you can wait for more than one necessary tile, which will grant you more opportunities to win. For example, if you have gathered together two sequences, a triplet and a couple of pairs, and there remains an incomplete sequence of Character Two and Character Three, you may wait for Character One or Character Four to win.

你好!This app is awesome, it taught me how to play mahjong and is very fun! I play it all the time. A multiplayer mode would be nice though rather than playing against AI all the time. But apart from that, this game is very good and I will be recommending it to everyone I know.

The best version of this game I've come across. Generally excellent apart from the annoying habit of exiting current game status and restarting from beginning when iPad goes into standby. It needs a save and resume option to get more stars.

Not the silly matching game, actual mahjong. Works great!
Good.. could be improved.
by Konchog on 2019/06/10 12:12
It’s great to find a mah jong game among all the puzzles. Some of the rules could be more clear. I would pay a dollar to remove the adverts. Multiplayer would be great. Seeing the flowers that everyone has would be nice. Better idea about why a tile is suggested for disposal is really important to help improve play. Also, all the score calculations and score types are there, but it would be nice to know how to remember them all! This game is really best as a tutor for playing with others, but it could help a bit more with that! Especially how to choose dealer, first player, etc, is done but with no explanations!
Actual mahjong
by KatLondon on 2019/04/29 20:46
It’s hard to find real mah jong rather than a matching game. Definitely helps if you know characters and how to play the basics. Helpful guide if you need to know what the characters or tiles are as well as point scoring sequences and hands.
Superb rendition of Mahjong

I have been using this wonderful App for about 5 years now and still find it very satisfying to play. A great find and still a challenge. Good work.👍 The only change/addition that I would like to see is some kind of indication, that remains visible on the ‘table’, when you have received a flower or a season tile.
Not bad!

I'm brand new to the game of mahjong, this is great for trying to learn the game, except the tiles don't have the letters to allow me to learn the Chinese symbols:-( I'd also like more hints & tips on playing the game, cos it all happens so fast & I'll get a run or three of a kind & they don't score & I don't understand why

The reason the game would insist you declare a Kong with four tiles in your hand is that you need to lay it down (but signal that it is still concealed for scoring purposes at the end) so that you can pick up an extra tile from the Kong box. This gives you enough tiles in your hand to complete four sets and a pair when you eventually pick up the last tile to go Mah Jong. This is normal play but just very occasionally you may want to not use the four tiles as a Kong because you are going for one of the nineteen “special” hands. The game needs to have the western numbers added as even very experienced players (mois included) find it very difficult to differentiate some of the tiles - in particular some of the characters suit. Most are easy but ....
Enjoyable mahjong game
by squeakypencil on 2017/10/24 12:05
Overall I find the layout and game speed nice and easy to enjoy, but not all the rules are explained. I set the instructions to English and often when I think I should be able to win a game i get a reminder that 'less than four points is not a ready hand', but nowhere can I find what a point is!
Fantastic free app!
by Qing Fa on 2017/05/06 07:24
I'm saving up to afford a decent Mahjong set and even when I have one, finding 3 opponents to play with will be a challenge, so this app has been a great way to learn the game and hone my skills!

Points scoring system is rubbish

How they calculate how many points you get is sooo inaccurate it's ridiculous. No point playing.

Great for learning Chinese
by Scumdust on 2015/12/07 22:50
This game is much better than the many "solitaire" Mah Jongg games you can get, as it's the actual proper game, with the correct rules. Ideally, you need to know the rules to play it. Also, the speech is in (Mandarin?) Chinese. This is fine after a while as you get to learn the names of the different tiles. In fairness, it would be more accessible to Western players if English (or other European) languages were available, with extra info on the tiles to say what they Re like you get on a real set. But still enjoying it immensely. Games are quite quick, so you can pick it up quickly.

I hardly ever get to play so this is great. Only criticism- when you have four of the same tile and you get an option to kong or pung, it doesn't like it if you choose to pung. In fact it reminds you every turn afterwards until you give in. Seems to be a little glitch. I would also like to understand some of the terms, and they are not all explained in the help section. For example: no melding; there is no explanation for that term. When I win are usually get less points than when the other players win, I would like to understand the winning hands and points system better so I can improve my score. I have tried to doing this through the help section but it doesn't explain everything. otherwise it's great!
Great fun

Easy to play with either English or Chinese instructions and explanations such as which player won/hit out etc. The table is pretty clear, although when I'm looking at my tiles it's not that noticeable but I wish the adverts on the top would go away! Always play with the sound down or the dodgy voices calling out the tiles will drive you crazy! Rigged or not, it's a good game to pass the time with until a 'real' game comes along😉

Also, it would be really useful to be able to move tiles around in your hand, if there is a way of doing this then I haven't found it yet. Good game play though.

Not the silly matching game, actual mahjong. Works great!
Good.. could be improved.

Fantastic free app!

by Scumdust on 2015/12/07 22:50
This game is much better than the many "solitaire" Mah Jongg games you can get, as it's the actual proper game, with the correct rules.

Always play with the sound down or the dodgy voices calling out the tiles will drive you crazy! Rigged or not, it's a good game to pass the time with until a 'real' game comes along😉
