Crap
by 20080927 on 2017/05/13 21:18
Would not even give a star
Poor
by nlgnlg on 2017/04/09 20:36
Not enough settings / control. For example the time delay for audio playback (to give buffering over a slow wifi connection) only applies to the current track and then goes back to zero. The sort order of audio files listed is alphabetical instead of by track number. And so on.
Perfect
by Peaceful-Space on 2017/01/27 17:12
Now I can easily grab videos from my DLNA server to watch when I'm traveling 👍🏻
Had this for couple of yers
by Grahhop on 2017/01/02 21:53
Far too difficult for the common man, vlc streamer is better and free, never been able to get this to work well, waste of money
Very stable with few issues
by Dark Vegetable on 2016/10/01 16:22
This is the most stable and hassle free player I have used to stream videos from my NAS. No lags and no crashes, only occasional out of sync problems for certain video formats, like .MKV
Playback is Jerky
by djpumpkin on 2016/03/27 17:16
It's ok, but playback is quite jerky.

by SteveJ3333 on 2016/02/10 18:27
I love this App. If I'm in the house I can watch all my movies, listen to my music or view my pics. But better still, when I'm working away, staying in hotels, I can do exactly the same thing. Perfect!
It's free!

Streaming issues
by Gdev on 2016/01/30 16:15
Have streaming issues after update playing xvids/ac3 sound starts stuttering after a random amount of time and only seeking seems to fix it. Also bug in menu system that locks off all options if failed to access dlna server forcing an app reset.
Well worth it.
by Er1kj on 2016/01/22 17:34
Great update.
Simply the best
by AdrianChallinor on 2015/08/01 10:31
I connect it to my DNLA music store (serviio) and listen to my music anywhere in the house. I tried others, but this is the best and simplest to use.
what a waste of money
by Mariocallum on 2015/06/14 19:39
it doesn't work and would even do as it said worst £3.99 I have I spend!!!!!

Does not stream to Apple TV
by VKMann on 2014/11/11 23:36
This app does not work with Apple TV. It streams audio but not vid. If you try to mirror I device you get a blank screen. There is no was of contacting support as website leads to a forum. No way or getting a resolution or refund. At a lost will not buy from this developer and will advise all I know of same
waste of money
by TotallyGutted594 on 2014/10/29 23:05
DLNA Playback is laggy and the audio is completely out of sync with the video. Sadly a waste of money - no wonder they dont give a free trial. Deleted.
Doesn't work iOS 8
by Deanpsmith on 2014/09/29 08:34
Used to work well in iOS 7. Since the update to iOS 8 AirPlay doesn't work. Resulted in me buying another app.
Great
by Sliders919 on 2014/09/14 15:52
Can't understand the bad reviews. Probably people don't know how to set up a NAS drive. It's not the NAS but the software. Need to use enable DLNA and have something like Twonky or a stock media server running I use with 2 NAS's, laptops and computers and never an issue streaming anything. Plays all I throw at it. Only complaint is the downloaded files have @@&&@"@£ all over the file name.
Complete waste of money!
by Pebbleheed on 2014/09/01 07:29
I have a NAS listed in the compatible list for this software, yet after installing the app and setting up my NAS it does nothing. I cannot play or even see a list of files on the server at all. The server is listed on the devices page of the app but other than that I can't do anything with it. Selecting it makes it go grey but nothing else. Complete waste of money and no refund. AVOID!
Superb
by mrbarg on 2014/07/29 20:19
I used air video for a while but got sick of having to convert or leave my pc on just to watch stuff. I got this and it's awesome. I stream avi or mkv straight to my iPad 3 from a 2tb my book live nas. No longer do I have to watch big brother or the bachelor or bloody X factor
Not what I expected
by Paradoxides on 2014/06/22 12:30
This app simply didn't do what I expected. I read a review that was very favourable, it also has a good star rating. But it is obviously intended for expert users only.
Airplay problem?
by AL71B on 2014/04/29 22:59
A good app and I have had no problems streaming from PS3 media server on the PC. But I was under the impression that this app should be capable of forwarding / re-streaming the video content being played over Apple AirPlay to AppleTV, and for me this is not working. So I'm a bit disappointed as this is one of the reasons I purchased the app. UPDATE: Streaming to AppleTV only works for mp4 video according to a helpful YoyTube video. It will not AirPlay Divx. Even though the videos I am watching are being transcoded on the fly by PS3 Media Server. The workaround is to use AirPlay mirroring from your device.
Great App
by Lighthammer34 on 2014/04/28 22:45
I was looking for an app to stream my content from myworldbook 2 which is connected to my home network, i have various films in various formats and it plays most of them without a hitch, doesn't like mkv files to converted these to avi and they play fine, I even bought it for my daughters iPad mini so she could watch the bee movie, she loves it too, bravo, so go out and buy it you won't be disappointed ;-)

Just what I've been trying to find ever since I got an ipad. I can stream from my xbmc, and download films to take with me when offline. Keep the updates coming please!
Great player
by Writers on 2014/03/30 21:41
This is a very reliable player. It would be good to have a favourite folder link, but is still one of the best available.
Ideal for streaming from you PC to iPad or iPhone
by CommGhost on 2014/03/29 22:17
This so easy and intuitive to use first class app, well done 5 stars
Works well with Synology NAS
by Coolcat1492 on 2014/03/27 20:50
Have used Airplayer for over a year. It is solid and handles all the mkv, m4v/mp4 files I've thrown at it. A good alternative to the Synology video app
Super Fantastic 🌟
by SAJKAN on 2014/03/27 18:56
The perfect solution I've been looking for. Works perfect with Western Digital Twonky Media Ethernet Hard Drive. Missing Airplay apart from that absolutely fine.
Good when it works!
by Rogerkjohnson on 2014/03/25 13:51
If it finds your server then it's good however finding the server is too hit and miss. I have a Panasonic DMR-BW780 recorder and this is only ever found about 5% of the time. If it finds it, great, but finding it is so rare it make the App useless.
Pretty good!
by Zakus101 on 2014/03/24 21:19
Ideal for streaming videos from a nas drive!!
No subtitles
by Stomped1 on 2014/03/16 13:58
Good but big problem doesn't see separate subtitle files eg srt and play them. Need to fix this.
Great app
by rbgb on 2014/03/02 13:15
Use this with my Iomega NAS to watch divx video files over WiFi and it works perfectly.
Needs a fix
by Nickk357 on 2014/02/18 01:53
Great interface, one of the best for direct NAS access without a media controller installed on a PC somewhere. Unfortunately there is massive audio lag every time and without fail.. Excellent app for viewing some Charles Chaplin classics but virtually useless for watching anything you might want to listen to.
Great application
by GeoffersP on 2014/02/09 20:46
Works fine for me. Provides all the functionality for my needs.

Worked fine. Able to use on iPad mini.
Could use some improvement
by SpeedyGoneZales on 2014/01/07 10:01
Would love to see: - browsing without stopping current stream - better AirPlay support (eg stream information to airplay device, receive start / stop) - fix crash when entering a folder for the first time after start up. - start paying before buffering is complete - option to automatically continue playing music in folder without creating a playlist Great app otherwise.

by Commander Zak on 2013/12/25 07:25
Brilliant. Works seamlessly with my wee server. Movies appear in seconds.
Works great over wireless network
by Xor_Loser on 2013/12/11 01:05
Streamed all my media from my Windows Home Server powered HP Mediasmart box via Windows Media Connect without needing any configuration. Now I can listen to my music anywhere in the house or garden. Use with a speaker dock for outdoor parties. Also I can watch movies in bed on my iPad, streamed off the server. This is a "must have" app!

Best dlna player ever
by Alex82pd on 2013/09/04 23:32
What to say... It plays everything, mlv included.. Got some problems with full hd AVI, no problems with MKV though. Super app, worth every penny
Great app

I use this app on an almost daily basis to stream to ipad and iphone from my tversity server. Stable, good quality, consistent performance and easy to use. Highly recommend for similar purposes
Fantastic
by Jinx616 on 2013/08/31 09:13
Works like a dream with seagate go_flex NAS. Plays all file formats I have tried. Love the fact you can upload from your NAS movies and store them to play on the go. Can't recommend this app high enough

Struggles with HD content, despite trying all settings. A waste of money.
Sort of works
by Riikko on 2013/08/24 12:57
For some, this will be just what they're after. If you want to play video formats on your ipad (I tested avi and mp4 for starters), then it works. However, there are numerous players that do that. What doesn't work is then streaming to the Apple TV. Now, this may be an Apple restriction (very likely) but when the app is called "AirPlayer", you'd be forgiven to think it supports AirPlay!
At last
by Gatallica on 2013/08/09 19:24
At last a decent app that recognises my NAS and plays most formats!

Streaming all media
by Dingamassiah on 2013/07/24 20:31
Was using filebrowser to stream from my nas to ipad but thought I'd give this a go to see if it would stream formats other than mp4. Found the nas and streams avi and mpeg no problems. Very happy with it so far!

I downloaded this app onto my iPad, opened it and it worked immediately. This is easy to use, connects flawlessly to my Qnap NAS and I can watch movies stored on the NAS on my iPad anywhere in the house. I can't understand why others cannot make it work.

by Master Jedi Bob on 2013/07/12 17:59
Works perfect with my hard drive server via DLNA and easy to download from server to ipad for when I need something to watch while out and about!
Good app overall.
by betweentwoworlds on 2013/07/11 20:32
Very basic UI but solves a lot of problems for streaming between network devices. Hope there becomes more features added in the near future.
All movies now crash within 10 min
by Outaspace on 2013/06/06 10:37
This app was great until the last update. Now either it buffers to 99.12% and hangs or plays just a few minutes of video and then hangs. I have lots of different movie files and none of them work anymore! I do like the new my documents feature, allowing me to download a film to watch later, however there is no delete. Crazy! This app could be a five star, but will need fixing first.
Poops over the rest from outer space
by JoeBlogghs on 2013/06/05 01:56
Out of all the terrible media streaming apps I've tried. This is the only one that worked first time without a single problem. Half of them are greedy enough to charge stupid prices for things which should be included in the app. THERE ARE NONE AS GOOD AS THIS

by Systemshark on 2013/05/24 18:38
The airplayer is a great app, the couple of suggestions i have made around displaying embedded mp3 artwork, have been made very quickly. In addition the download feature has moved this to one of my most used apps. Overall Airplayer find my nas box easily and plays music and movies faultlessly.

Decent enough app, since last update keeps going out of sync with picture and audio, which is getting annoying.

by Ratzab on 2013/05/21 22:15
This is a brilliant app I have no trouble using it in fact my 4 year old can use it easily as well. One thing would be good the ability to lock certain folders so my son can't get at content I don't want him too, not sure if its possible.
Love it
by random_uk_user on 2013/05/21 15:22
Tightly integrated with my home NAS this app means I can stream easily and with high performance my movies anywhere in the house no lag or performance issues. It rocks. I don't use it for photos or music, but for film.... It's the bomb!!!
Ignores track numbers
by mannyo1221 on 2013/05/19 04:36
Since the update the software now insists on playing all media in track name A-Z format thus ignoring track numbers, was ok before the last update..

Worked straight away on lots of formats. Easy to use and picked ip all local resources. Understandably stutters on HD.
Almost perfect...
by alexcampo on 2013/05/07 20:56
I would have given this app 5 stars but as it doesn't handle the .srt files located in same folder as video I can't give it full marks. It does work very well with my XBMC server on a Ubuntu PC. If only it would pick up and display the sub files it would be perfect. Handles all my avi MTV mp4 file formats just fine but really does struggle with 1080p videos sadly.
Terrible app
by Grevster on 2013/05/06 20:21
It's so buggy it's unbelievable, I've not managed to watch a whole program without it crashing. Needs more development.

I use this app to stream all different types of files from my synology nas and it works perfectly. Great sound levels too as other apps I've tried played sound really quietly. Now I can download and store files locally its even more useful. A great app.....Keep up the good work!!
Unfortunately ...
by PortaDisk on 2013/04/26 18:55
Despite the update; it still doesn't interface properly with my Panasonic DMR-HW220E BK ... Yes it browses and plays files; but the "controls" do not work. We live in hope. MichaelG.

I've always relied on and enjoyed using this app. However, it no longer picks up Time Capsules with a simple scan which means it's no longer functional for me.
Misses the mark
by Paul W Mather on 2013/04/24 23:36
I was excited to see the update supported bookmarks. Yet rather than being able to hold on a folder or video to bookmark, you can only bookmark while watching the video. Meaning you can't bookmark a folder. At the rate the devs update this, the earliest we will see bookmark folders is 2014. I give up with it.
Airplayer
by 8art5imson on 2013/04/22 21:04

Streaming from ReadyNAS Duo Pro to iPad. Was really looking forward to this app, as the ReadyNAS Remote app from Netgear is terrible. This picked up my NAS straight away, which was a good sign. When playing songs, it crashes quite frequently, especially those with cover art. The buffering of each song at the start can be very annoying, it should be doing this at the same time. The HD video is not very good quality and very jittery (sometimes freezes). I tried all the different settings, including increasing the cache. The sound is usually well out of sync with the video; and I mean we'll out!! I also have 8player, and I wish I bought that one first. The HD video is superb and faultless, and supports playlists and download facilities. Unfortunately, I could only give AirPlayer a couple of stars, as these issues definitely need addressing urgently.

Skips and doesn't sync AV! Useless
by WebSmithy on 2013/03/04 01:56
Really wanted this app to be as good as the other reviews but I can't get this app to play back my HD videos from my NAS device without serious picture skipping and audio sync is miles out. Other DLNA apps work perfectly, I have a free one that works great but doesn't support TV out which is why I gave this a try. Really hope this is an issue just in the latest update and it'll be fixed soon in an update as I feel like I've just thrown money down the drain.

This is a pretty flexible app. Good file compatibility, good device compatibility but a few bugs. I can only get the sound to work using Airplay and Apple TV. I've had sound sync problems a few times but resolved it by restarting the playback from the start. Playing HD files on my iPad is not perfect and the image is jerky. Could be my network but I don't think so.

Only plays sound now through ATV3 please fix ASAP
Very stable with few issues
by Dark Vegetable on 2016/10/01 16:22
This is the most stable and hassle free player I have used to stream videos from my NAS. No lags and no crashes, only occasional out of sync problems for certain video formats, like .MKV
Perfect
by SteveJ3333 on 2016/02/10 18:27
I love this App. If I'm in the house I can watch all my movies, listen to my music or view my pics. But better still, when I'm working away, staying in hotels, I can do exactly the same thing. Perfect!
Love This App!
by Goshdarnit on 2011/07/22 19:11
This is awesome. Plays my whole video collection from my NAS. No more hassles with transcoding. However, it's missing one function that would make it a killer app. I would love it to have the option to download the file fom the NAS, and play it fom the ipad rather than having to stream everything. Then I could take a few movies with me when I'm away fom Internet access, and play them without having to convert them first. But maybe I'm just greedy! Still an ace app, even without that.
Perfect

Air player
by Snuff6969 on 2016/03/08 19:32
Easy to use
Poor
by nlgnlg on 2017/04/09 20:36
Not enough settings / control. For example the time delay for audio playback (to give buffering over a slow wifi connection) only applies to the current track and then goes back to zero. The sort order of audio files listed is alphabetical instead of by track number. And so on.
Had this for couple of yers
by Grahhop on 2017/01/02 21:53
Far too difficult for the common man, vlc streamer is better and free, never been able to get this to work well, waste of money

I've been using PS3 Media Server 1.60.0 on my PC (Windows XP) for quite some time now and I wanted to find an iOS app that can be used as a UPnP renderer and I came across this as it is supported by PS3 Media Server. All I can say is that this is a wonderful app. I can now comfortably search and watch movies on my iOS devices at home without the need to waste time transferring files from PC to iPhone/iPad. I was a bit worried about the mixture of reviews here, but I'm glad it works for me. Oh and for those who are reading this. I'm using iPhone 4S and iPad 2 over my wireless-N router and have no problems. I would advise anyone giving reviews, please provide what device you are using, e.g. iPhone3G? iPhone4? 4S? This would help people out there to decide if this is worth purchasing. To the developer, keep up the good work!
A few bugs need sorting
by Hadge1 on 2013/03/30 17:37
Streaming from ReadyNAS Duo Pro to iPad.
Best £2.99 ever spent
by Grandad Ian on 2013/01/01 21:43
Downloaded Airplayer last night to use my Seagate GoFlex 2tb NAS drive. It just does what it says on tin, played all movie formats that I have tried so far, plays movies that the dedicated GoFlex player won,t and jpg pics load fast. Only problem that is apparent is like all iPad apps I have tried, the display order of pictures is never the same as on my Windows 7 PC. (why do all iPad apps want to change the order I save them in?). But as I don,t know an app that can sort this, will still give it 5 stars and well worth £2.99. If you have a NAS drive buy this app, you won,t be disappointed.
Excellent App!
by p1e1c on 2010/06/05 10:02
I am very pleased with this app it has played most of my vid files from my NAS. Which plugplayer failed to do! I installed Airplayer after purchasing plugplayer and it found my NAS and all the files shared by upnp straight away. The streaming of videos is sometimes a little slow however if you rewind it a few seconds it seems to correct that issue. Maybe something to sort out in an update. Having said that don't let that one minor point turn you off getting this app you won't regret it.
Good value for money.
by BanterBay on 2011/06/08 11:19
This app does what it says on the box. I have wasted my money on so many crap apps that claimed they can stream avi videos to my iPad but they can't. This app even stream from my NAS flawlessly; it has played all sorts of formats I have thrown at it. Being a graduate of Computer Networking with special interest in DLNA/UPNP. It Is the best app of my iPad. Lest I forget, it does work on 3G as well. The developer needs to overhaul its interface especially when stream audio. It looks shabby apart from that it is a great app. Go for it.
Just what I was looking for!!!
by iP00 on 2011/12/28 00:23
I have a Qnap TS109 and have to run an oldish version of Twonky. The native Qnap app is rubbish with the multimedia server and it will only play native iOS video files. I tried the twonky web interface but I can't seem to get streaming to work, it just wants to download the whole video before starting to play. Found this app and I can't praise it enough! I launched it and it immediately found my NAS and my laptop media server, browsed, clicked and played without any issues. FANTASTIC!!!
Absolutely fantastic!!!
by MilesNewey on 2011/06/01 11:23
This app is great. I just bought an iomega home network drive for £50 as part of a clearance sale from tesco and I honestly had more trouble setting that up with windows than what I did with this app. I have transferred multiple media including music and video, and this app will play anything that I have thrown at it so far, I literally just downloaded and it worked straightaway, found the iomega nas, and hey presto. I can now get rid of my old tower pc and just use the iPad in the loft - so happy!
Top app
by Bridtown on 2012/10/20 18:09
This is a top app we use this all the time to connect to my nas drive at home for all the kids that use iPod touches 4 of them and the kids love it always on it. problem I can find is that not supported for the iPhone 5 screen size Not ver good instructions on how to connect to my nas drive when I am away from the wireless network at home this would be a massive advantage as when we go away the kids can enjoy a move. I have tryed everything with no luck getting this to connect it wouldn't be to bad if you can install a program on the computer at home and integrate it to the app till this I am only giving 4stars But please not I love this app and I would say the very best on the App Store it even try's to play 1080i but iPods as a little to slow to support it Really good app keep the good work up
Nearly
by Pete Blakemore on 2012/02/18 16:35
Great concept and I love how it auto detects available networks on my iPad2. However it's very limiting if you're just connecting to Windows 7 - no amount of tweaking and fiddling with network settings seems to enable you to view custom folders. I.e. I can view the default video, pictures, music etc folders, but if I want to view my HD Movies folder for example, it doesn't detect it, even if i try showing it in one of the detectable libraries. I can only hope it's a different story when I set my FreeNAS up... On the HD thing, it didn't recognise my MKV version of Cast Away. It's 13gb in size so not sure if there's a size limit on what can be streamed, but the description clearly says it supports the MKV file format. I'll keep tweaking but it's not looking good if you just want a Windows 7 based solution. On the plus side, what media I could stream did so extremely quickly on my wireless N network with no judders.
Absolutely superb
by MattDebbie on 2012/11/07 23:18
My first ever review of an app, just had to share how brilliant this app is. Plays everything from tversity in every format to date and also from my humax HDR fox 2 free view box. Which makes watching recorded program's a blessing. Only feature I would like to see is the ability to download the file to the iPad to watch on the move. Definantly download this app is your into streaming media to you iPad. Top marks to the developers.
Good on newer ipod touch/ipad
by mcgini on 2011/01/01 22:54
This is a must app for me. Have a media hard drive setup on my home network. I can stream full movies to my ipad/ipod touch. However can only handle AVI's on ipad and not my ipod touch 2nd gen (mp4s are fine) - think it's something to do with the ipod and what format it can handle. Would be great to include a realtime video converter like the Air Video App (only problem with that one is that you have to have a server software running on your computer and you computer must be on!)
Good but not perfect
by Timmers22 on 2011/08/24 18:21
Overall a pretty good streaming media player. Detected my NAS and Windows media players no problem. Xvid playback was very poor initially until I unticked 'skip frames' in settings. Would like to see an "auto" setting for when to use the Quicktime plugin. It seems crazy to keep having to turn it on to watch an .mp4 and off again for an .avi Did a horrible job on my .mkv's though, even over a good wireless-n network.
Great App
by Lighthammer34 on 2014/04/28 22:45
I was looking for an app to stream my content from myworldbook 2 which is connected to my home network, i have various films in various formats and it plays most of them without a hitch, doesn't like mkv files to converted these to avi and they play fine, I even bought it for my daughters iPad mini so she could watch the bee movie, she loves it too, bravo, so go out and buy it you won't be disappointed ;-)
Works with a NAS box
by Sonleela on 2012/10/16 17:47
Used this app to stream video from my NAS box which uses OpenMediaVault to my ipad2. Make sure you have the dlna plugin installed on the NAS first. Really good product and well worth the money. A note of caution some of the files stopped being displayed after I upgraded to IOS6, so program may have a bug that needs to be fixed as other applications that support dlna still show all files.
Pretty good
by Ozthewizz on 2011/04/23 07:12
If you want a media streamer from your NAS server buy this app: it basically does the job Like other reviews this provides a great solution for NAS streaming and it picked up WD mybook world no probs. But there is significant lag with streaming some movie file types - vob particularly. This is work roundable if you convert to another format Buy other reason for 3 star is music player interface: need to be able to build a playlist and browse other music while listening to current song. At te moment this is pretty clunky.
Excellent
by Deans_nuff'_said on 2011/09/12 18:54
Matched with a Storcentre ix2-200 this App has been excellent. It picked up the video, photo and music folders on the NAS at the first time of trying and plays without pausing or freezing. I can't hear any noticeable drop in quality. It work on my iPhone 4 and 3rd gen Touch. Probably the best App I've bought as I can stream music and video around the house without buying expensive extra equipment.
Fantastic
by RobB9099 on 2012/12/31 17:35
Very easy to use and does exactly what it claims. Found my Ixus NAS drive and streams 720p to an iPad with no stuttering or freezing. Doesn't always choose the right file player. I had to manually select QuickTime for mp4 files and select the alternative player for mega and movs. Not as good as some other file browser type apps for file management but for video and photos its superb
NAS Streaming
by Sheldor The Conqueror on 2011/02/17 22:26
It works great with WD MyBook for streaming .avi movies. Only app that actually works without a hitch. For .mp4, there is a settings switch to allow native playback which is clever. Not tried .mkv files because the PS3 won't play those at all so I will mux (repackage) the video with MKVTools for Mac which is much faster than re-encoding. Thanks to dev for providing the only workable solution I've found as yet on the app store.
False description
by JoeBG90 on 2011/01/20 18:02
I am VERY disappointed and angry with the makers of this app. I actually spent money for this application, after reading the reviews, thinking it would be a final solution to my needs; it can stream music! However, upon download of the app, it cannot stream music at all!!! This is false advertising. Rather than post on here I e-mailed the maker, I also googled and searched the web. All I was able to find was the same copied and pasted information off the website, which was about as much help as a chocolate fire door. Very unhappy with this and would appreciate it if the developer gave me my money back!
Works fine with LG N2B1 NAS...
by orangemog on 2011/05/01 09:34
But half the time it didn't pick up the server when auto scanning. Not sure if thats the app or the NAS's fault. Not a problem though, just had to copy the server address when it did find it in a scan then add it manually, which it remembers permanently  It found my Win7 stuff in the scan every time. Oh, and MKV playback is useless over g wifi (to be expected really), but haven't had any issues with AVI.
Good for Nas streaming audio
by Brekcarr on 2013/01/20 15:35
I have found this app to be one of the best for streaming audio/video from a NAS or other device on your local network. It could do with some improvements. E.g remember where the audio file was last and the playlist which would be great for long audio books over many files. Scrolling folder names and titles when they are too long so you can still read them. More fine control fast forward and rewind. (drag finger down from timeline to access slower speed fast forwards etc. very useful when you have a very very long audiobook file) Overall very good. I've tried several of these apps and found this one to work the best without needing iTunes.
Worth the money!
by Greegor on 2011/05/05 09:52
I can connect to my twonkymedia NAS drive no problems and stream all my videos/music/pics without problem. On occasion I have had it where if I FWD or RWD video with the slider the audio goes out of sync???? I usually remedy this by shutting down the ipad then restarting and all is ok again. If you jujst want a simple to use DLNA streamer then look no further, thanks for the good work.
Great
by Sliders919 on 2014/09/14 15:52
Can't understand the bad reviews.
Simple
by hotsource on 2010/05/19 17:12
The program picked up the dlna connection on my wd mybookworld 1tg hard disk without any problems. I found the streaming speed a little slow but prompt feedback from the support guys reassures me it's due to improve very soon. A few more advanced options to tweak buffering, to zoom the screen in a bit to boost volume etc would be good. Will look forward to the continued upgrades!
Very pleased with it
by IceAlex on 2012/11/22 14:17
It works very well. Ideal for those lazy moments when you don't want to sit at the desk with the computer. It was especially useful for my mother when she was ill as I was able to give her the iPad to watch her favourite films while in bed. This training is very smooth and the menu is easy to navigate.
Great value app
by Neil-Boss on 2012/09/09 22:00
Amazing that some people will give lukewarm reviews to apps that work fine and cost very little. This app does what it claims to do, and does it well. People who have issues probably are expecting too much from their wifi and their other hardware. For moderately sized files this app works like a dream
Poops over the rest from outer space
by JoeBlogghs on 2013/06/05 01:56
Out of all the terrible media streaming apps I've tried. This is the only one that worked first time without a single problem. Half of them are greedy enough to charge stupid prices for things which should be included in the app. THERE ARE NONE AS GOOD AS THIS
Almost perfect
by DJKnight on 2011/08/17 20:04
Plays everything I've thrown at it so far (from a mediatomb server.) Even managed some 1080p .mp4's just fine. Having to change settings based on the media type isn't ideal though, I'd give it 5 stars if it could handle that stuff automatically. But overall a very good media player.
Doesn't work with apple AirPort Extreme
by Sewell1978 on 2013/01/18 21:36
This app looked fantastic and just what I needed so paid and then found out it don't work :( gutted , so done some searching and found file manager and that works a treat , I would like a refund please ! It should state doesn't work with apple AirPort Extreme as it don't have DLNA ! And this app needs that to be enabled for it to work , it's a good looking app but unfortunately did not work for me I did send feedback to the maker of this app but got no reply as of yet , I hope they can fix it as it looks a great app
HD poor playback
by Duck4cover on 2013/01/09 20:03
First the good, so far it has played every format I have tried so a big plus there. but sadly from 720p upwards I'm getting ever increasing stuttering as the resolution increases making pretty much my whole library unwatchable on a IPad2. My phone plays the same files flawlessly as does my Internet TV, so my only conclusion is the app engine could do with a lot of optimisation. So far have used the media server in my link station Pro & the ps3 media server with similar results, but will continue to test others.
Excellent app!
by Ches1979 on 2013/04/29 20:13
I use this app to stream all different types of files from my synology nas and it works perfectly. Great sound levels too as other apps I've tried played sound really quietly. Now I can download and store files locally its even more useful. A great app.....Keep up the good work!!
Has potential, but buggy
by Extrovertus on 2010/09/03 07:08
Started out well - instantly found my Synology DS409 with browsable folders for photo, music and video. Music worked fine. Photos initially showed fine but after a few dozen they only rendered only as pixelated versions. The app then got confused about portrait/landscape orientation and got stuck 90 degrees out! Videos (QuickTime) were too slow to view. DivX didn't play. I haven't tried other servers so they may fare better, however my Synology NAS streams happily to all my other devices.
Best so far
by Wallaby250 on 2013/02/21 21:31
This is a pretty flexible app.
Great App
by Skywo1f on 2011/08/09 19:55
Latest update has really improved playback via my dlna server! Top App so get it. I'm on an iPad 2 and this plays all my media avi, mkv no probs providing you dont go over the specs recommended. Great work, looking forward to future updates. This keeps getting better and better!

Not enough settings / control. For example the time delay for audio playback (to give buffering over a slow wifi connection) only applies to the current track and then goes back to zero. The sort order of audio files listed is alphabetical instead of by track number. And so on.

Well worth it.

by VKMann on 2014/11/11 23:36
This app does not work with Apple TV. It streams audio but not vid. If you try to mirror I device you get a blank screen. There is no was of contacting support as website leads to a forum. No way or getting a resolution or refund. At a lost will not buy from this developer and will advise all I know of same

by Sliders919 on 2014/09/14 15:52
Can't understand the bad reviews.
AVOID!

Good when it works!
by Rogerkjohnson on 2014/03/25 13:51
If it finds your server then it's good however finding the server is too hit and miss. I have a Panasonic DMR-BW780 recorder and this is only ever found about 5% of the time. If it finds it, great, but finding it is so rare it make the App useless.

by Riikko on 2013/08/24 12:57
For some, this will be just what they're after. If you want to play video formats on your ipad (I tested avi and mp4 for starters), then it works. However, there are numerous players that do that. What doesn't work is then streaming to the Apple TV. Now, this may be an Apple restriction (very likely) but when the app is called "AirPlayer", you'd be forgiven to think it supports AirPlay!

by Outaspace on 2013/06/06 10:37
This app was great until the last update.

I would have given this app 5 stars but as it doesn't handle the .srt files located in same folder as video I can't give it full marks. It does work very well with my XBMC server on a Ubuntu PC. If only it would pick up and display the sub files it would be perfect. Handles all my avi MTV mp4 file formats just fine but really does struggle with 1080p videos sadly.

by Paul W Mather on 2013/04/24 23:36
I was excited to see the update supported bookmarks. Yet rather than being able to hold on a folder or video to bookmark, you can only bookmark while watching the video. Meaning you can't bookmark a folder. At the rate the devs update this, the earliest we will see bookmark folders is 2014. I give up with it.

I can only get the sound to work using Airplay and Apple TV. by Goshdarnit on 2011/07/22 19:11
This is awesome.

Not enough settings / control. For example the time delay for audio playback (to give buffering over a slow wifi connection) only applies to the current track and then goes back to zero. The sort order of audio files listed is alphabetical instead of by track number. And so on.

Top app

Simple
by hotsource on 2010/05/19 17:12
The program picked up the dlna connection on my wd mybookworld 1tg hard disk without any problems. I found the streaming speed a little slow but prompt feedback from the support guys reassures me it's due to improve very soon. A few more advanced options to tweak buffering, to zoom the screen in a bit to boost volume etc would be good. Will look forward to the continued upgrades!
Best so far
by Wallaby250 on 2013/02/21 21:31
This is a pretty flexible app.
Great App
by Skywo1f on 2011/08/09 19:55
Latest update has really improved playback via my dlna server! Top App so get it. I'm on an iPad 2 and this plays all my media avi, mkv no probs providing you dont go over the specs recommended. Great work, looking forward to future updates. This keeps getting better and better!
